It has been widely published within the Australian media that there is currently an ice epidemic and
the Australian Government has established a national Ice Taskforce in response to the drug problem
the country is facing (Australian Government 2015). Ice is also known as crystal methamphetamine
and comes in a translucent or white crystal or crystalline powder (Buxton Dove, 2008). The illicit drug
can be smoked, snorted, injected or swallowed and is the most potent form of methamphetamine
because of its high purity (Buxton Dove, 2008). Methamphetamine is an extremely addictive psycho
stimulant that affects the brain and central nervous system, resulting in the release of high levels of the
neurotransmitter dopamine into areas of the brain that regulate feelings of pleasure (Caplan, 2008).

Due to such abundance of knowledge, being unaware of a society or culture is common. However,
having the wrong idea of a culture or a community could potentially be a devastating problem. In fact,
this is a prevalent problem as false lies about communities are easily spread out to group of people, the
so called fake news problem. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is an Nigerian author who addresses this
problem in her TED Talk at Oxford, England. She asserts that single stories of a place/community can
create a critical misunderstanding. Moreso, the problem is more pervasive than previously thought.

Stereotypes run rampant in the literary world today. It is much easier to write a stereotypical character
because of the reader expects them to act or respond a certain way and does not require an explanation

My Personal Continuous Quality Improvement
My personal continuous quality improvement was to adapt healthy eating habits in order to lose
weight. I had a doctor s appointment that really opened my eyes to the risks of being overweight and
continuing with poor eating habits can affect my health and put me at risk for a number of medical
conditions. I used to eat healthier and be within a reasonable weight according to the standards.
However, in the past 6 years, I have noticed a change in metabolism and losing weight has not been
that easy. Also due to the demands of work, school, and laziness, eating whatever at any time became
the norm. I come from a Latino family with medical conditions such as, diabetes, hypertension, and
heart conditions that could be avoided with improving eating habits. I put in place my PDSA, after a
doctor s appointment, where I was told that I needed to lower my BMI. The doctor was impressed
with how high it was, as by looking at me, nobody would believe how high my BMI is. I am
considered curvy and carry the extra weight well. The problem as stated above is the susceptibility to

NextGen is a tremendous, historic shift to revamp the U.S. air transportation system. This all
embracing initiative integrates new and existing policies, procedures, and technologies, including
satellite navigation and advanced digital communications. Two major parts of this upgrade and
modernization include, but not limited to, Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System
(STARS) and En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM). These systems enable NextGen
capabilities in all phases of flight and safety. STARS for instance, replaces multiple automation
systems for controllers who provide control services to pilots in terminal airspace and the airspace
immediately surrounding major airports. Additionally, ERAM combines flight plan information with
surveillance data from Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS B), Wide Area Multi
lateration, and radar to automate many air traffic control functions. Other parts of ERAM include,
System Wide Information Management (SWIM), which provides the digital data sharing backbone of
NextGen. SWIM also connects producers and users of data with a common language and single point
of contact to access aeronautical, flight, and weather information. ADS B sends out broadcasts of an
