Kawaii Research Paper
Many Westerners perceive Japan as weird. While many aspects of its culture differ considerably from
that of the United States and Europe, it is this difference that while weird to some is fascinating and
even tantalizing to others. One of the most apparent of the cultural phenomena unique to Japan is the
idea of kawaii. Kawaii is a difficult term to translate into English, but the term celebrates sweet,
adorable, innocent, pure, simple, genuine, gentle, vulnerable, weak, and inexperienced social behavior
and physical appearances (Kinsella 220). The idea of kawaii appeared in the mid 1960s through the
1970s and initially started with Japanese school girls. Around that time, as indicated by advertisements
and articles from magazines, the desire for a youthful look evolved into a desire to emulate a cute,
child like look. Since then, the term kawaii deals mostly with the ... Show more content on

In investigating the history of kawaii, this theme of rebellion surfaces with the ideas of rejecting
traditionally Japanese culture in favor of more of a European or Western culture which was perceived
to be more fun. This in a large part includes the idea of cute handwriting that Japanese schoolgirls
would practice in the 1960s and 70s where the format read like Western writing left to right and
included English words and exclamation points. This was an experimentation by the youth in being
able to speak more freely and through this they expressed themselves more easily with a style of
writing that they felt more connected to as a result of their manipulations (Kinsella 224). The adults
and older generations did not share the same positive reaction to this cute handwriting as they felt it
was blatantly rebellious against Japanese traditions and cultural values they upheld

The Use Of Deadly Force By Police Officers
The Use of Deadly Force by Police Officers in the Field: Understanding the Complexities and Issues

Current Issues and Future Directions in Criminal Justice
Abstract
In light of the recent spate of police involved homicides of suspects who may or may not have put the
lives of the police involved in fear for their safety and well being, this paper seeks to examine the use
of deadly force by police officers in the line of duty. The training involved in using one s service
weapon in situations that call for a determination of the use of force will be explored, as will the rules,
regulations, and extenuating circumstances that lead to the firing of a service weapon in the line of
duty, resulting in the death of a suspect. The Supreme Court cases that have led to and/or upheld laws
allowing a broader interpretation of what is considered justifiable use of deadly force will be briefly
examined. Additionally, the use of non lethal weapons, such as Tasers, by police forces and how the
availability of these weapons influences the rate of deadly force will be inspected. Finally, an
elucidation of the various perceptions of the general public of the police after use of deadly force is
used within their communities will be addressed.

P407 Terrorism
The existing and evolving threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction
Joshua Garrison
11/24/2014
To understand the threat that is posed by weapons of mass destruction (WMD), what defines a WMD
must first be understood. The definition and use of WMD is covered by 18 U.S. Code § 2332a Use of
weapons of mass destruction. The term weapon of mass destruction is defined as any destructive
device that is further defined under section 921. Under section 921, a destructive device is anything
that has explosive, incendiary, or poison gas properties. 18 U.S. Code § 2332a Use of weapons of
mass destruction expands further by defining a WMD as any type of weapon that is designed to cause
death or serious injury by release, dissemination, or impact by nuclear, biological, or chemical means.
The legal code also covers weapons that release dangerous levels of radiation. Under FBI guidelines,
the term WMD is used to describe a collection of modalities that include: chemical, biological,
radiological, nuclear, and explosive and is over referred to as CBRNE.
There are a couple of sayings about terrorism: the first is that terrorism is a weapon of the weak and
that terrorist want a lot of people watching, not dead . If these saying are true, then the threat or risks
of terrorist using a WMD would be fairly low. And with the consequences of a WMD attack being far
reaching, one must remain alert for changes that may signify a WMD attack. In 1999,

Essay Salmonella and Enteritis or Systemic Diseases
Salmonella
Introduction
Salmonella is known as a gram negative, rod shaped bacillus. It is a facultative anaerobe in the family
Enterobacteriaceae (Todar). There are more than 1,000 known types of Salmonella, with ranging
levels of toxicity (Jones), accounting for 60% of all bacterial diseases (Curtello). Salmonellosis has
affected over 1.4 million people per year in the United States, including more than 500 fatal cases
(Jones). This organism has a wide host range with abilities to attack both animals and humans
(Tartakow). Salmonella s main habitat is in the intestinal tracts of warm blooded animals (Jones). It
best grows at a temperature between 5 and 47 degrees Celsius (Pui). Non host adapted Salmonella
may reside in food or water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since it has such a long incubation period, this suggests that Salmonella typhimurium is able to avoid
detection by the host immune system early in the course of infection (Helene). The non host adapted
Salmonella cause very diverse typhoid like symptoms and is most common cause for foodborne
infections (Todar). Gastroenteritis is characterized by a sudden onset of fever, abdominal pain,
vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration. Diarrhea is a result of secretions of fluids by the small and large
intestines. These symptoms are caused by acute inflammatory responses given off by the bacteria
within the intestine (Giannella). In extreme cases S. typhimurium could affect respiratory, central
nervous or cardiovascular systems causing things like pneumonia and meningitis. The severity of
symptoms depends on the type, amount ingested, a person s age, and susceptibility to illnesses.
Elderly people and young children are the most vulnerable to symptoms of Salmonellosis. Symptoms
can begin to appear anywhere between six and forty eight hours and can last three days or even three
weeks.
Septicemia is another form of the manifestation of Salmonella in the body. This is known as the
intermediate stage of the infection and does not cause intestinal symptoms. Also, the bacteria are
unable to be eradicated from the fecal matter secreted by an infected host. The harshness of the
specific infection is dependent on the endurance of the patient

Where Is The Narrator In The Cask Of Amontillado
The narration is shifted from first to second person and back to first person in the beginnings of
different novels in alternate chapters, and sometimes to third person. The author forces us, the readers,
to take on the role of the Reader that makes me the main character of the story. The story unfolds more
truths about myself and how I behave when I m about to read a novel, which literally messes with my
brains by letting me believe that I m probably being watched as I read on. Calvino successfully kept
me confused and curious throughout with his clever narration. I thought about why he chose to narrate
in the way he does, and would he ever introduce himself. In chapter Without fear of wind or vertigo,
on page 84 the narrator introduces himself as Alex Zinnober; and in the chapter Looks down in the
gathering shadow, on page 107 he introduces his name as Ruedi the Swiss. The first name almost
convinced me that Alex is the common narrator and that he sees himself in all the novels he reads one
after the other. It was probably a farfetched and premature assumption I made, but it seemed valid
until later when the name Ruedi appears. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Calvino challenges the notion of how a story is supposed to be told. I believe this novel teases upon
(or actually is) the genre of metafiction wherein there are many stories within one story. The
cliffhangers at the end of each novel reminded me of the episode The Closure Alternative in The Big
Bang Theory, where Amy helps Sheldon with his closure obsession by never finishing anything they
start. To ease this feeling, I really wish to see a winding up party at the end with all the characters
introduced so far, somehow ending up overlapping each

Politics And Endorses Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan decides to enter politics and endorses Hillary Clinton but ends up not making sense. Is
she hinting that she s going to run for United States President in 2020? Lindsay Lohan has had her fair
share of ups and downs these past few years and most of them have not been very positive in her light.
While it is not strange to see celebrities endorsing a presidential candidate in the world of politics,
things can often go wrong. Take for instance her latest post on her Instagram account. She posted a
picture of Hillary Clinton with a text quote from one of Clinton s speeches where she speaks about
losing sleep over the Benghazi and her obsession with what she could have done to save those who
sacrificed their lives. And in true Lohan

Rhetorical Analysis Of Death Of Horatio Alger
Paul Krugman, author of The Death of Horatio Alger, evaluates the declining social mobility in
America. He proposes that the decline in social mobility is causing the rich to continue to get richer
and the poor to continue to get poorer. Krugman was inspired to discuss how this would result in the
shocking loss of the American Dream, after he read a Business Week article that made him fearful of
the considerable and drastic decline that would destroy the livelihood of many Americans. Krugman s
purpose was to make his audience; those of lower socioeconomic status, aware that the American
Dream they hoped to achieve would soon become extinct. He creates a fearful and negative tone, in
order to grab his audience s attention and inform them about the economic downfall. Krugman
strongly conveys his message not only through his harsh tone, but by appealing to pathos,
incorporating rhetorical questions that create a fearful mood, and appealing to logos to make a
credible and sound argument.
Throughout the article, Krugman attempts to grab the attention of his audience and help them become
mindful of how the limited movement between social classes will have an effect on their life. In order
to do so, he implements rhetorical questions that appeal to pathos and ethos, while displaying a
negative tone and fearful mood. Rhetorical questions are used throughout the article to introduce an
important idea and make the readers evaluate their current social status. For example, the author
creates a hypothetical situation about the rich wanting to seek more advancements, he then questions,
What would you do? (11) and follows this question with steps one could take to control the
government and receive more leverage over the poor community. This question and response
strengthened his argument because it appealed to the readers emotions about the ability the rich have
to further harm the poor. Krugman also proposes questions that appeal to his ethos. After stating the
steps one could take to close off as many routes to upward mobility as possible, (14) he asks, It all
sounds sort of familiar, doesn t it? (15). This question is meant to be unanswered but make the
audience reflect. If the audience did feel that the

Black History Importance Essay
Black History Importance The time has come again to celebrate the achievements of all black men and
women who have chipped in to form the Black society. There are television programs about the
African Queens and Kings who never set sail for America, but are acknowledged as the pillars of our
identity. In addition, our black school children finally get to hear about the history of their ancestors
instead of hearing about Columbus and the founding of America. The great founding of America
briefly includes the slavery period and the Antebellum south, but readily excludes both black men and
women, such as George Washington Carver, Langston Hughes, and Mary Bethune. These men and
women have contributed greatly to American society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Black Americans should be acknowledged for not only their contributions to American society, but
also for being a part of American society and upholding the traditions and values of this country.
Black History Month should not be a celebration that comes and goes in our own minds and homes.
Black History Month should not be a remembrance that is acknowledged only when the official day
begins. Black History Month is an accomplishment that we should be proud of in the Black
community. Carter G. Woodson chose the month of February for some important reasons. For
instance, Black History Month marks the birthdays of two men who influenced the black population,
Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln according to Woodson. In addition, the Fifteenth
Amendment was passed on February 3, 1870, which granted blacks the right to vote. There were a lot
of significant reasons for allowing Black History Week to begin in February. However, I seriously
doubt if Woodson would have accepted the extension of this week in the shortest month of the year.
Woodson chose a week in February, because it had symbolic significance. Black History Week began
in 1926. However, it is now 1999 and in seventy three years Black Americans allowed our
contributions to American society to be extended from Negro History Week to Black History

Emancipation from Damaging Early Years
While mental and emotional factors are important, the physical factors are just as key in emancipating
yourself from damaging early years. Negative memories from a childhood in which physical needs
were not met can easily influence a future. Children with these memories often go on to create
unhealthy relationships, unattainable goals, or a life with no purpose. Motivation can become more
difficult as time goes on due to lack of results in one s life as well as a lack of true satisfaction.
Physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and acts of drug or alcohol abuse in the child s presence can
make a lasting impression in one of two ways. Either the child must make the difficult choice at a
young age to rise above such things or they must continue the cycle of living a life of despair as their
parents did before them. Liz s friend Chris chooses the latter, and Liz must leave behind her friends,
her family, and her home for a better life. As seen in these examples, children who witness traumatic
situations are forced to grow up and gain wisdom beyond their years. For those who choose not to live
a life like their parents s, the next step is starting on the long journey between a rough childhood and a
triumphant adulthood. In this modern day and age, education is stressed at a very young age. From the
first day of kindergarten, we are taught how to read and write so we can learn bigger and better things.
Some preschools offer private daycares for gifted or highly

Xerox Vertical Structure
Xerox Services is a multi national company that currently operates several call centers which handle
the customer service calls for many other Fortune 500 companies. Founded in 1906, it currently
employs over 140,000 people and had over 21 million dollars in revenue for the 2013 fiscal year
(Xerox, 2014). With operations in over 180 countries, Xerox Services is one of the largest business
process outsourcing companies in the world. Structured into many different smaller entities based on
the industry it serves, the call center operations portion of this business is the backbone of Xerox s
services for the last 40 years (Chesbrough, Rosenbloom, 2002). Xerox currently operates several
hundred call centers that handle both incoming and outgoing customer service and sales calls for its
vast amount of clients.
This company is setup in a very large vertical structure that starts with the CEO and works its way
down to its front line agents and employees. All decisions are filtered from the top to the bottom and
all requested approvals must originate from below and make their way up the company hierarchy. This
type of structure relies heavily on middle management to execute directives and monitor their
frontline resources to ensure they are being productive. This reliance on a large pool of middle
managers to run day to day operations makes this type of structure very large in size as well as
expensive from a payroll perspective.

confuse death and love, due to a love potion) and makes a point to say that the opera is NOT the story
that fate, magic, love potions, etc., have nothing to do with it. The existential theme is continued when
the poet mentions a tape recorder a device that can only record sound, what is actually said and done.

Today when the software industry is progressing rapidly, software usage and demand is expanding.
Software development is going to be more complex day by day. Changes requirements from the
customers make it more difficult and complex. Old approaches of software development are no more
useful in present scenario. They are not able to satisfy customers needs in given time [1]. As a result

There are a number of software engineers who advocate this approach and there are huge software
development organizations that prefer agile approach to use than other traditional methodologies.
According to Andrew Begel and Nachiappan Nagappan [2] from more than two decade agile software
methodology is gaining acceptance by the professionals since 1990. Due to fast changing technology,
common customer can not define his needs properly. New approaches and methodologies were needed
able to define changing requirements properly. Traditional methods such as waterfall model are not
able to deal with real ways software engineering functions in software development. Some group of
software consultants signed the agile SD manifesto in 2001. This was the era when agile software
development was basically emerged. Main benefit of this approach is to promote and develop the
response and speed of software development to change the requirement as well as deadlines [3] [4].
There are many agile methods used in agile software methods. The most known method is extreme
programming generally called XP. Some others are Dynamic Software Development Methods DSDN,
Scrum and Crystal. These mentioned methods can be considered as a new idea plan that is based on

Typically minority groups are thought of in the context of race; however, a minority group can also
consist of gender and class. The struggles facing a minority group complicate further when these
different facets of minority categories are combined into what is sometimes called a double minority.
Throughout their writing, African American women have exposed how being a double minority
changes the conditions of being a minority. In Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon, the African
American female characters demonstrate the impact of having a double minority status.

(2) Exaggeration on the positive data. The second one is about being bias by over emphasizing the
positive data rather than showing positive and negative data equally. This can be addressed by having
a professional body appointed to evaluate and be able to question for both positive and negative data
such as accountant, economists, chartered surveyors [Seeley (1997:78)], etc. (3) Corrupting third party
to take advantage over opponent. This is a very serious action by someone corrupting someone else to
take an advantage during negotiations. A particular situation is of having a client s architect passing to

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESRPONSIBILITY (CSR)
Introduction
Today, the world faces numerous challenges ranging from dreadful environmental conditions through
poverty and human rights, to energy and resource supply issues. Social responsibility policy focuses
on using the capabilities of a business to improve lives and sustain our planet through contributions to
local communities and society at large. In other words, a business should fully realize it s potential as
an organization to make a better world through corporate self regulation assimilated into a business
module.
CSR and Human Rights The global community expects companies to operate with due admiration for
human rights. Beyond meeting regulatory requirements and social expectations in areas in which they
operate, by proactively presenting more rigorous international standards such as the United Nations
Global Compact, companies will reinforce their commitment to human rights. In 1998 the Secretary
General of the UN, declared that he was building a more solid relationship with the business
community. Thriving markets and human security goes hand in hand: without one we will not have the
other (Annan,

veganism, based on the observations of the animal kingdom. Pattron uses an inductive format by
introducing examples, slowly building to his statement. Pattron begins his opening statement with a
question as a hook, What are humans really supposed to eat? (Patton 1). The hook clues the audience
into the subject of the article. He then uses evidence stating the observations of nature, The grizzly

use of sarcasm emphasizes the implied meaning that because humans and bears are different, humans

Essay about The Rights of a Prisoner
Rights of Prisoners
While lawful incarceration deprives prisoners of most of Americas Constitutional rights, they do
maintain a few constitutional rights. Federal courts, while hesitant to impede with the internal
administration of prisons, will interfere to rectify violations of the constitutional rights that prisoners
are still entitled to. A prison guideline that oversteps on a prisoner s constitutional rights is lawful only
if it is reasonably related to the safety of the inmates or the rehabilitation of that prisoner. The
Supreme Court has acknowledged four significant factors in determining the rationality of a prison
guideline. Courts should contemplate whether there is a lawful, sensible association between the
guideline and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, prison officials are not required to provide both, as long as access is meaningful. In order to
successfully allege a constitutional deprivation, most courts require prisoners to demonstrate some
actual injury resulting from a denial of access. Courts will allow some restrictions on a prisoner s
access to legal resources in order to accommodate legitimate administrative concerns, such as
maintaining security and internal order, preventing the introduction of contraband, preventing the
domination of the library by regular users, and observing budgetary constraints. In the absence of a
legitimate administrative concern, however, prisoners may not be hindered from gaining access to the
judicial process. Inmates who have been denied access to legal materials have not necessarily suffered
a constitutional deprivation when they are confined for only a short period of time. References

Eassy On Plastic Pollution

Plastic Pollution in the Environment Plastic pollution is a major threat to our environment and
continues to get worse every day. We live in a disposable society where fast food is served in plastic or
Styrofoam containers and discarded instead of glass dishes. Many people use plastic water bottles
instead drinking from the tap. Plastic soda bottles are used instead of glass returnable bottles. Plastic
grocery bags have replaced the brown paper grocery bags. Unfortunately, not enough people properly
dispose so all this plastic ends up as plastic pollution by littering road ways, parks, beaches, and
oceans, or it gets buried in landfills. For many years scientists tried to develop plastic instead of using
natural made products such as ivory from elephant tusks and tortoise shells from turtles. Finally, in
1862 and English inventor named Alexander Parkes invented the first plastic called Parkesine (Knight
8). The first truly synthetic plastic was developed in 1907 which was called Bakelite and was made
from coal tar (9). At the time it was used for jewelry, telephones, clocks, and radios (9). Over the years
improvements have been made in the production of plastic.
Plastic is used in almost everything we use on a daily basis such as shoes, cars, clothes, computers,
furniture, windows, and many other things. Plastic has made our lives more convenient but it is also a
high price to pay for the convenience considering

The film Casablanca directed by Michael Curtiz and released in 1943 at the height of World War II is
set in December 1941 in Casablanca, French Morocco. It is a time of escalating power of the Nazi
party, which attempted to gain control of most parts of the world starting with Europe and Northern
Africa. As a result of the ascending power of the Nazis and anti German sentiments, many Europeans
were desperate to flee their homes. Because Casablanca was not yet taken over by the Germans due to
its distance from Europe, it served as the holding place or middle ground for those trying to escape

The battle of the anthems serves as a small victory for anti Germans, yet it feels empowering.
While music is essential to many scenes in the film, the absence of music in some scenes is powerful.
The scenes that are not accompanied by music, are ones in which important information is being
exchanged between characters and being revealed to the audience. In some scenes the information is
historical and in some it is vital to the plot. In one scene that does not include music the man who
murdered and stole letters of transport from German couriers confesses to Rick and requests that Rick
hold on to the letters for him. The film follows the journey of the letters of transport, therefore it is
crucial for the audience to hear and witness the trajectory of the letters before and after they reach
Rick. Music would detract from the importance of the exchange of information in the scene. Yet,
despite the lack of music in this scene, Rick hides the letters of transport in the piano, confirming the
importance of the piano and its music in the film.
Another scene that is shot without music occurs when Captain Renault informs Rick that Victor is
traveling to Casablanca with his wife and will attempt to purchase an exit visa. The Captain warns
Rick not to assist Victor in any way. Captain Renault reveals to Rick that he is aware that in the past

In the United States, seafood is an important commodity. According to the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the U.S. imported $20.2 billion in edible fishery products in
2014 ( Imports ). With such large quantities of seafood flowing in and out of the country, mistakes can
be made. For decades scientists have called attention to the problem of mislabeled fish. Although
mislabeling fish may seem harmless, it can have devastating health effects on the consumer, and
efforts to prevent mislabeling have increased. In order to combat this problem, the government should

You would love the deity not in the Christian God like sense, but as you would love a friend, parent,
or a child, Christians do not practice yoga as a form of prayer or meditation, but rather gather weekly
to meet for worship in commemoration of the Lord Jesus resurrection. They rejoice and reflect on the
life and teachings of Jesus. Prayer is a form of meditation for Christians because it requires
observance and concentration. When we pray to God we are observing his power and concentrate on
what it is we wish to reflect on. Christians pray to God to repent on certain acts that are sinful, by
asking God for forgiveness one will be saved and given eternal life.
Hindus believe for everything you do wrong you will be punished. For every action, there is an equal
and opposite reaction, if not in this life, then the next. The yoga discipline allows, through pure acts,
thoughts and devotion, one can be reborn at a higher level. Christians, on the other hand do not believe
in rebirth, but rather eternal happiness in the afterlife. Our afterlife being heaven or hell. Both
religions have very distinct beliefs and are extremely opposite but their idea for prayer and meditation
is similar. Both religions use the daily ritual of prayer and or meditation as an act of reflection and a

London because he wants to turn everyone into vampires. The basic background of the book Dracula
is when Jonathan Harker, a realtor who is sent to Transylvania to complete a transaction with Dracula
so he can come to England. What Harker does not know is that Dracula has a plan for world
domination. Well, while Harker is on a train to Transylvania he enters the east, a section of Europe

analyzes Dracula and notices one very strange feature, his mouth is thick and white; they cover sharp
white teeth, which stick out over his lip. What Jonathan does not know is that those teeth are canine
teeth only found in animals. There are exceptions, for instance, vampires have these teeth so they can

Dracula leaps for his throat so he can suck his blood. Harker touches his crucifix and Dracula s
demonic fury vanishes. The strangest event that Harker notices in Dracula s castle is Dracula emerge

president, ruler, CEO, leader has put their hands into. In a nutshell the book is a breakdown of how to
grow and maintain power in a political system. Some might consider this book a practical guidebook
for a ruler, which is not coincidental seeing that the book is dedicated to the ruler of Florence, Lorenzo

Freedom Riders Research Paper
The Freedom Riders were a racially mixed group, organized by the Congress of Racial Equality, who
challenged the south s segregation laws in 1961. Thirteen riders left Washington DC, hoping to bring
attention to the segregation laws in the south, and force federal action. The plan was to spend two
weeks riding the public bus system from Washington, DC to New Orleans, Louisiana. At each stop,
the riders would purposefully violate the segregation laws of the deep south by entering the all white
facilities, to see if the African American riders would be served. The group was committed to a
completely non violent stand, being trained in various responses, such as not making eye contact with
antagonizers.
Between Washington, DC and Atlanta, Georgia, riders encountered little backlash, unfortunately, this
was not the case in Alabama. In Atlanta, the group split into two groups, seven riding with the
Greyhound bus company and six riding the Trailways. The Greyhound bus left Atlanta an hour before
the Trailways bus. When the first bus entered Anniston, Alabama, a racist mob awaited them. The
Freedom Riders were not allowed off the bus, while the mob attacked the bus, breaking windows, and

Fame Is A Fickle Food Poem Analysis
I love spring time. I love to go outside and hear the birds chirping. The sky is a light blue color with
not a cloud to be seen, just little blue birds flying high. The birds act as if they are famous for having
the ability to fly. However, sometimes being famous isn t a path people want to live on. Some people
think of fame as a potion that can make you ill. Others believe that fame is a good thing, and they
want to be famous. Some authors choose to write their idea of fame as a poem. Famous , by Naomi
Shihab and Fame is a Fickle Food , by Emily Dickinson illuminate the idea of what fame really is.
First, Famous , by Naomi Shihab and Fame is a Fickle Food , by Emily Dickinson are two very
different poems. Fame is a Fickle Food says that fame isn t loyal and fame is bad. The author says that
fame can kill you! However, Famous talks about how it is good to be famous to the people who are

Jean-Jacques Rousseau s The State of War Essay
Jean Jacques Rousseau s The State of War
Jean Jacques Rousseau s The State of War elegantly raises a model for confederative peace among the
states of Europe, and then succinctly explains its impossibility. Rousseau very systematically lays out
the benefits of such a perpetual peace through arguments based only in a realism of pure self interest,
and then very elegantly and powerfully turns the inertia of the self interest machinery against the same
to explain why it can never come to be. However, this final step may be a bit too far; in his academic
zeal for the simple, I will argue that he has overlooked the real, or at least ignored the possible. His
conclusion may be appealingly reasoned, but it is still insupportable.

While refuting the possibility that this international state of nature is a Hobbesian war of all against all
[which would tend to the destruction of the species, an aim he finds both logically and religiously
untenable (114)], he certainly acknowledges that conflicts occur even among actors whom we would
call naturally virtuous those seeking peace (112).
This contradiction is problematic because the boundaries between the civil and the natural, the
domestic and the international, overlap at times (112). For instance, war on the outside invariably
affects the civic order on the inside. Because of this contradiction, we are forced to bear the burdens of
supporting both orders separately, thus negating the advantages brought by either. We are subject to
the vagaries of the international system when it affects civil life, and yet as individuals our hands are
tied and we are unable to enjoy natural freedom ourselves because we are also subject to the authority,
at times oppressive, of the civil domestic structures (which, as we have seen, fail to protect us from all
international affects) (112). Even a state that hopes for the status quo can t count on it because other
states won t allow it to remain (114). Peace is often lacking even among virtuous actors, but peace and
war are not dichotomous. A state of war results when two actors mutually decide that their existences
are incompatible, and each coolly resolves to annihilate the other however possible, a

Biography Of Ludwig Van Beethoven s Moonlight Sonata
Ludwig Van Beethoven is one of the single most decorated composers and musicians in the history of
mankind. The legendary German composer, though long deceased today, has left us with dozens and
dozens of works composed and played by him for us to marvel at and understand the true meaning of
music. Mainly known for his work and compositions with the piano, he composed pieces to be
performed with multiple different instruments. My goal, however, is to explore one of the most
popular compositions that he wrote for his cornerstone instrument, which is Op.27 No.2, more widely
known to the world as his Moonlight Sonata.

However, the somber tone that the work carries does not mean that it leaves anything to be desired in
terms of its complexity, variety, and overall sound. Truly, just by listening to this piece off of the bat
and attempting to analyze the style, it became very clear to see exactly why it is as highly revered and
regarded as it is within the world of classical music, and among all of Beethoven s other masterpieces.
Something else that is remarkable about this piece of music is the fact that it intentionally does not
share the form that is considered standard for piano sonatas. It is considered a more or less improvised
variation of the Quasi Sonata form, mainly in the way its harmony is set up. The truth is that part of
what makes this piece so special is the fact that it is different, the fact that it deviates from the standard
course of what it is and was thought that a sonata is supposed to be. For this reason, and by daring to
think outside the box, Beethoven created what is now considered one of the greatest pieces of classical
music ever composed. The truth is that in listening to it, it definitely does become difficult to place,
identify, or compare, simply because it is so different than most any piece of classical music that one
could try to compare it to. In his book Beethoven, Moonlight and the other sonatas, op. 27 and op. 31 ,

hiring. Employers willingness to hire ex offenders is also influenced by the type of industry and
position, the type and severity of crime committed by the job applicant, and work experience since
release from prison. In many states, the easy availability of criminal history data may also present a
barrier to employment. The focus group research found that the employers believed that an applicant
with a criminal background is less appealing than an applicant that has never been convicted of a
crime. That means that ex offenders will have a more difficult time finding gainful employment. Many
of the employers did not want to become the first ones to hire an ex convict after being found guilty of

population itself became much bigger: in 1776 it was estimated around 2.5 million. Then, in 1877 the
population was 46.3 million. From 1790 to 1850 foreign born population went from around 4 million
to about 23 million. Not only a change in numbers, but we also changed in location (which will be
covered later on).
What stayed constant was that the population of whites always stayed at a mass majority compared to
other races. Although, it did go far down. For example, from 1830 to 1850 the percentage went from
98.5% to 90%. What also changed

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Comparison Essay
I d Die for You
Haeun Ro
The changes people experience over time can range from minor differences to drastic alterations in
their personality. Even complete transformations can sometimes be hard to notice, as they may happen
subtly and gradually. One of the most interesting elements of novels is how a character matures and
develops over time, the way an individual would in reality. Randle McMurphy, the hero figure of One
Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest by Ken Kesey, started out as a light hearted rebel who challenged
authority for entertainment, then became a martyr, eventually dying for the patients of the ward. This
character development is integral to the plot, as it is what actually drives the story forward into its
climax and conclusion. Milos Forman, the director of the film adaptation of the book, was
unsuccessful in portraying this vital element of the novel. McMurphy acted consistently until the
ending, when he behaved abruptly and unexpectedly differently. This not only confused the viewers of
the movie, but also changed the true meaning behind his actions. Randle McMurphy s shift in
personality advanced the plot because it created the main conflict of the novel. The downtrodden
patients of the hospital ward were too afraid to rise against the oppressive and power hungry Nurse
Ratched, but from the very beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though Nicholson and Forman made small attempts to depict the growth of his character, they were
too minimal, insignificant, and late in the film, to make a large impact on the viewers. It was almost as
if the director did not understand the true gravity of McMurphy to the novel, not as a hero, but as a
person. He was willing to die for a cause, and for his friends. After all, martyrs don t materialize when
they are needed; they are created by circumstances and the needs of people around

Tsunami
There are many types of natural disaster that are quite deadly (earthquake, tornado, volcanic eruption,
etc.). Out of all natural disaster that ever occurs on earth, I believe that tsunami is by far most
interesting one out of all. The reason why tsunami is very interesting is because it can be triggered by
many causes (earthquake, volcanic eruption, underwater landslide, fall of a large mass, etc.) On this
research paper; I will explain what exactly is tsunami, the 2004 Sumatra tsunami, and how to predict
tsunami.
Tsunami (also known as tidal wave or seismic sea wave) is a series of waves created by the
displacement of water, unlike normal ocean waves which are created by ... Show more content on

Unfortunately, it is estimated that around 35,000 people have lost their lives and around 500,000
people have lost their homes in Sumatra (around 15000 died in India). The aftermath report reported
that around 190,000 people are dead with 40,000 to 45,000 either missing or presumed dead. Even
though billions of dollars of humanitarian aid have been used to help all the effected region of the
tsunami disaster, some areas still have not recovered from this disaster. In 2011, an earthquake
registered at the magnitude of 9.0 9.1 hit the coast of Tohoku Japan (it is recorded to be the most
powerful earthquake ever hit Japan). The earthquake caused a giant tsunami waves with the highest
waves measured at the heights of 133 feet. Despite of Japan s precaution plan of Tsunami attack, the
damage that the tsunami and earthquake did was very severe. The tsunami walls that Japan created
around the nuclear plant has no effect because it is not a big as the tsunami waves thus resume the
damage that the tsunami has set its eyes on; multiple infrastructure damage, nuclear plant damage, and
severe nuclear plant radiation leak. It is estimated that around 15894 people are dead, 6152 are
injured, and 2562 people are either missing or presume dead. In 2015 September 16, an earthquake
registered at the magnitude of 8.3 hit the offshore of IL lapel and Chile. The tsunami waves arrived on

Changing Demographics Of The American Male
For the hindered American male, frust

by the conviction that his days on top are arriving at an end, there might be no type of porno

more fulfilling than watching a bundle of hard drinking, bar singing soccer fans with thick brogues
beat the damnation out of each other. The scene is quite often the same: Singing men in red
development after singing men in blue. When they meet in the focal point of the edge, red pushes
blue, fingers are pointed and after that, unavoidably, a green brew bottle flies over the screen and
blasts on red s head. The lines of singing men breakdown into a squirming, punching mass and when
the police jog up, normally dressed to the grip in uproar gear, both red and blue have gone dashing
ceaselessly, abandoning a couple sitting on the ground in a grisly trance. The host city and as a rule the
city s blacks and Muslims pay the cost for the following frenzy. In June, Russian and English law
breakers battled in Marseille, France, before an opening round match of the Euro 2016 titles. A
gathering of English fans stood up to a portion of the city s Muslim nationals, droning, ISIS, where are
you? In February of a year ago, when the Champions League match amongst Chelsea and Paris Saint

The Influence Of Restrictions On Food Choices Among Food...
Restrictions on food choices among food stamps recipients not only raise questions on infringements
of individual autonomy and choice they also tend to stigmatize the recipient holders and make them
feel socially disapproved. Yes, they do use tax payers money to buy their food but they have the right
to spend the money allotted to them the way they want. Moreover, as per USDA s report they use a
portion of their own money to buy the food so there is no guarantee that restricting them from buying
a certain type of food will affect their food purchase (USDA, 2007). It is true that obesity is more
common among those who are socioeconomically deprived but buying steak, lobsters and junk food
from taxpayers money is not the only reason behind

Emile Durkheim Social Facts Examples
According to Emile Durkheim, a social fact is a manner of acting, thinking and feeling engaged by
individuals because and on condition that other members of the social group are also engaged in the
same thing. He said that social facts exist outside human consciousness because it is external,
objective and inherited. It is not in the mind of the person, it is in the environment. Social facts also
have a coercive power that can have a causal influence. We often realize and be aware of the social
fact if we stay away from them, resist or contradict because we are usually unaware of all the social
facts. Social facts do not necessarily require social institutions or organizations for it to be recognized
as a social fact because there are social facts that are not institutional facts. Social facts cannot be
defined by their universality for it can only be defined in a collective aspect because it is practiced by
the community, creating a collective action, making it social. Lastly, according to him, in a holistic
perspective, social facts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Searle defined brute facts as facts that exist independent of us. They are objects that are independent
of human environment. Example would be mountains, rivers, pebbles, etc. Institutional facts however
are facts that are greatly dependent on human environment or institutions for its existence. Example of
this is the government. We constantly recognize the importance and purpose of the government
because of its function. With out human institutions, the government will just be a system. Even the
thought of it of being a system is highly dependent on us. Aside from the brute and institutional facts,
Searle made another distinction in his article, the regulative and the constitutive rules. Regulative rules
regulate existing activities while constitutive rules constitute a certain thing and are responsible for the
creation of a certain

Forced Equality In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron
In 1961 Kurt Vonnegut wrote a short story titled Harrison Bergeron. The story starts out, The Year was
2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren t only equal before God and the law. They were
equal every which way. (Vonnegut) Forced equality is the major theme in this short story, taking many
features away from the characters including, their independent thought, their individuality, and their
constitutional rights. Harrison Bergeron takes place in the future where everyone is subjected to
wearing devices, also known as handicaps, that takes away unequaled, unsurpassed characteristics of
the each person, in order to make every person average and equal to one another. Two of the main
characters George and Hazel Bergeron are the first example of this ruling that we see in the story.
George is described as intelligent and strong and therefore is subjected to many handicaps where his
wife, Hazel Bergeron is considered to be average and therefore is not subjected to any handicaps.
Benjamin Reed describes Hazel as, so average even her name is the eye color between brown and
blue. Her natural mental state is equivalent to George s natural mind. (7) Reed later describes their
son, Harrison Bergeron as, [possessing] amazing strength, god like beauty and stature and
(presumably) a piercing intelligence, (8) all of the features that the United States Handicapper
General, Diana Moon Glampers, is trying to make uniform and equivalent. Diana Moon Glampers has

  • 2. Kawaii Research Paper Many Westerners perceive Japan as weird. While many aspects of its culture differ considerably from that of the United States and Europe, it is this difference that while weird to some is fascinating and even tantalizing to others. One of the most apparent of the cultural phenomena unique to Japan is the idea of kawaii. Kawaii is a difficult term to translate into English, but the term celebrates sweet, adorable, innocent, pure, simple, genuine, gentle, vulnerable, weak, and inexperienced social behavior and physical appearances (Kinsella 220). The idea of kawaii appeared in the mid 1960s through the 1970s and initially started with Japanese school girls. Around that time, as indicated by advertisements and articles from magazines, the desire for a youthful look evolved into a desire to emulate a cute, child like look. Since then, the term kawaii deals mostly with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In investigating the history of kawaii, this theme of rebellion surfaces with the ideas of rejecting traditionally Japanese culture in favor of more of a European or Western culture which was perceived to be more fun. This in a large part includes the idea of cute handwriting that Japanese schoolgirls would practice in the 1960s and 70s where the format read like Western writing left to right and included English words and exclamation points. This was an experimentation by the youth in being able to speak more freely and through this they expressed themselves more easily with a style of writing that they felt more connected to as a result of their manipulations (Kinsella 224). The adults and older generations did not share the same positive reaction to this cute handwriting as they felt it was blatantly rebellious against Japanese traditions and cultural values they upheld ... The Use Of Deadly Force By Police Officers The Use of Deadly Force by Police Officers in the Field: Understanding the Complexities and Issues Surrounding Deadly Force Jessica Woodward Columbia College MSCJ 501 Current Issues and Future Directions in Criminal Justice Abstract In light of the recent spate of police involved homicides of suspects who may or may not have put the lives of the police involved in fear for their safety and well being, this paper seeks to examine the use of deadly force by police officers in the line of duty. The training involved in using one s service weapon in situations that call for a determination of the use of force will be explored, as will the rules, regulations, and extenuating circumstances that lead to the firing of a service weapon in the line of duty, resulting in the death of a suspect. The Supreme Court cases that have led to and/or upheld laws allowing a broader interpretation of what is considered justifiable use of deadly force will be briefly examined. Additionally, the use of non lethal weapons, such as Tasers, by police forces and how the availability of these weapons influences the rate of deadly force will be inspected. Finally, an elucidation of the various perceptions of the general public of the police after use of deadly force is used within their communities will be addressed. • 4. The Existing And Evolving Threat Of Weapons Of Mass... P407 Terrorism The existing and evolving threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction Joshua Garrison 11/24/2014 To understand the threat that is posed by weapons of mass destruction (WMD), what defines a WMD must first be understood. The definition and use of WMD is covered by 18 U.S. Code § 2332a Use of weapons of mass destruction. The term weapon of mass destruction is defined as any destructive device that is further defined under section 921. Under section 921, a destructive device is anything that has explosive, incendiary, or poison gas properties. 18 U.S. Code § 2332a Use of weapons of mass destruction expands further by defining a WMD as any type of weapon that is designed to cause death or serious injury by release, dissemination, or impact by nuclear, biological, or chemical means. The legal code also covers weapons that release dangerous levels of radiation. Under FBI guidelines, the term WMD is used to describe a collection of modalities that include: chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive and is over referred to as CBRNE. There are a couple of sayings about terrorism: the first is that terrorism is a weapon of the weak and that terrorist want a lot of people watching, not dead . If these saying are true, then the threat or risks of terrorist using a WMD would be fairly low. And with the consequences of a WMD attack being far reaching, one must remain alert for changes that may signify a WMD attack. In 1999, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay Salmonella and Enteritis or Systemic Diseases Salmonella Introduction Salmonella is known as a gram negative, rod shaped bacillus. It is a facultative anaerobe in the family Enterobacteriaceae (Todar). There are more than 1,000 known types of Salmonella, with ranging levels of toxicity (Jones), accounting for 60% of all bacterial diseases (Curtello). Salmonellosis has affected over 1.4 million people per year in the United States, including more than 500 fatal cases (Jones). This organism has a wide host range with abilities to attack both animals and humans (Tartakow). Salmonella s main habitat is in the intestinal tracts of warm blooded animals (Jones). It best grows at a temperature between 5 and 47 degrees Celsius (Pui). Non host adapted Salmonella may reside in food or water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since it has such a long incubation period, this suggests that Salmonella typhimurium is able to avoid detection by the host immune system early in the course of infection (Helene). The non host adapted Salmonella cause very diverse typhoid like symptoms and is most common cause for foodborne infections (Todar). Gastroenteritis is characterized by a sudden onset of fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration. Diarrhea is a result of secretions of fluids by the small and large intestines. These symptoms are caused by acute inflammatory responses given off by the bacteria within the intestine (Giannella). In extreme cases S. typhimurium could affect respiratory, central nervous or cardiovascular systems causing things like pneumonia and meningitis. The severity of symptoms depends on the type, amount ingested, a person s age, and susceptibility to illnesses. Elderly people and young children are the most vulnerable to symptoms of Salmonellosis. Symptoms can begin to appear anywhere between six and forty eight hours and can last three days or even three weeks. Septicemia is another form of the manifestation of Salmonella in the body. This is known as the intermediate stage of the infection and does not cause intestinal symptoms. Also, the bacteria are unable to be eradicated from the fecal matter secreted by an infected host. The harshness of the specific infection is dependent on the endurance of the patient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Where Is The Narrator In The Cask Of Amontillado The narration is shifted from first to second person and back to first person in the beginnings of different novels in alternate chapters, and sometimes to third person. The author forces us, the readers, to take on the role of the Reader that makes me the main character of the story. The story unfolds more truths about myself and how I behave when I m about to read a novel, which literally messes with my brains by letting me believe that I m probably being watched as I read on. Calvino successfully kept me confused and curious throughout with his clever narration. I thought about why he chose to narrate in the way he does, and would he ever introduce himself. In chapter Without fear of wind or vertigo, on page 84 the narrator introduces himself as Alex Zinnober; and in the chapter Looks down in the gathering shadow, on page 107 he introduces his name as Ruedi the Swiss. The first name almost convinced me that Alex is the common narrator and that he sees himself in all the novels he reads one after the other. It was probably a farfetched and premature assumption I made, but it seemed valid until later when the name Ruedi appears. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Calvino challenges the notion of how a story is supposed to be told. I believe this novel teases upon (or actually is) the genre of metafiction wherein there are many stories within one story. The cliffhangers at the end of each novel reminded me of the episode The Closure Alternative in The Big Bang Theory, where Amy helps Sheldon with his closure obsession by never finishing anything they start. To ease this feeling, I really wish to see a winding up party at the end with all the characters introduced so far, somehow ending up overlapping each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Is she hinting that she s going to run for United States President in 2020? Lindsay Lohan has had her fair share of ups and downs these past few years and most of them have not been very positive in her light. While it is not strange to see celebrities endorsing a presidential candidate in the world of politics, things can often go wrong. Take for instance her latest post on her Instagram account. • 8. Rhetorical Analysis Of Death Of Horatio Alger Paul Krugman, author of The Death of Horatio Alger, evaluates the declining social mobility in America. He proposes that the decline in social mobility is causing the rich to continue to get richer and the poor to continue to get poorer. Krugman was inspired to discuss how this would result in the shocking loss of the American Dream, after he read a Business Week article that made him fearful of the considerable and drastic decline that would destroy the livelihood of many Americans. Krugman s purpose was to make his audience; those of lower socioeconomic status, aware that the American Dream they hoped to achieve would soon become extinct. He creates a fearful and negative tone, in order to grab his audience s attention and inform them about the economic downfall. Krugman strongly conveys his message not only through his harsh tone, but by appealing to pathos, incorporating rhetorical questions that create a fearful mood, and appealing to logos to make a credible and sound argument. Throughout the article, Krugman attempts to grab the attention of his audience and help them become mindful of how the limited movement between social classes will have an effect on their life. In order to do so, he implements rhetorical questions that appeal to pathos and ethos, while displaying a negative tone and fearful mood. Rhetorical questions are used throughout the article to introduce an important idea and make the readers evaluate their current social status. For example, the author creates a hypothetical situation about the rich wanting to seek more advancements, he then questions, What would you do? (11) and follows this question with steps one could take to control the government and receive more leverage over the poor community. This question and response strengthened his argument because it appealed to the readers emotions about the ability the rich have to further harm the poor. Krugman also proposes questions that appeal to his ethos. After stating the steps one could take to close off as many routes to upward mobility as possible, (14) he asks, It all sounds sort of familiar, doesn t it? (15). This question is meant to be unanswered but make the audience reflect. If the audience did feel that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Black History Importance Essay Black History Importance The time has come again to celebrate the achievements of all black men and women who have chipped in to form the Black society. There are television programs about the African Queens and Kings who never set sail for America, but are acknowledged as the pillars of our identity. In addition, our black school children finally get to hear about the history of their ancestors instead of hearing about Columbus and the founding of America. The great founding of America briefly includes the slavery period and the Antebellum south, but readily excludes both black men and women, such as George Washington Carver, Langston Hughes, and Mary Bethune. These men and women have contributed greatly to American society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Black Americans should be acknowledged for not only their contributions to American society, but also for being a part of American society and upholding the traditions and values of this country. Black History Month should not be a celebration that comes and goes in our own minds and homes. Black History Month should not be a remembrance that is acknowledged only when the official day begins. Black History Month is an accomplishment that we should be proud of in the Black community. Carter G. Woodson chose the month of February for some important reasons. For instance, Black History Month marks the birthdays of two men who influenced the black population, Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln according to Woodson. In addition, the Fifteenth Amendment was passed on February 3, 1870, which granted blacks the right to vote. There were a lot of significant reasons for allowing Black History Week to begin in February. However, I seriously doubt if Woodson would have accepted the extension of this week in the shortest month of the year. Woodson chose a week in February, because it had symbolic significance. Black History Week began in 1926. However, it is now 1999 and in seventy three years Black Americans allowed our contributions to American society to be extended from Negro History Week to Black History ... • 10. Emancipation from Damaging Early Years While mental and emotional factors are important, the physical factors are just as key in emancipating yourself from damaging early years. Negative memories from a childhood in which physical needs were not met can easily influence a future. Children with these memories often go on to create unhealthy relationships, unattainable goals, or a life with no purpose. Motivation can become more difficult as time goes on due to lack of results in one s life as well as a lack of true satisfaction. Physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and acts of drug or alcohol abuse in the child s presence can make a lasting impression in one of two ways. Either the child must make the difficult choice at a young age to rise above such things or they must continue the cycle of living a life of despair as their parents did before them. Liz s friend Chris chooses the latter, and Liz must leave behind her friends, her family, and her home for a better life. As seen in these examples, children who witness traumatic situations are forced to grow up and gain wisdom beyond their years. For those who choose not to live a life like their parents s, the next step is starting on the long journey between a rough childhood and a triumphant adulthood. In this modern day and age, education is stressed at a very young age. From the first day of kindergarten, we are taught how to read and write so we can learn bigger and better things. Founded in 1906, it currently employs over 140,000 people and had over 21 million dollars in revenue for the 2013 fiscal year (Xerox, 2014). With operations in over 180 countries, Xerox Services is one of the largest business process outsourcing companies in the world. Structured into many different smaller entities based on the industry it serves, the call center operations portion of this business is the backbone of Xerox s services for the last 40 years (Chesbrough, Rosenbloom, 2002). Xerox currently operates several hundred call centers that handle both incoming and outgoing customer service and sales calls for its vast amount of clients. This company is setup in a very large vertical structure that starts with the CEO and works its way down to its front line agents and employees. All decisions are filtered from the top to the bottom and all requested approvals must originate from below and make their way up the company hierarchy. This type of structure relies heavily on middle management to execute directives and monitor their frontline resources to ensure they are being productive. This reliance on a large pool of middle managers to run day to day operations makes this type of structure very large in size as well as expensive from a payroll perspective. Then I read live like trees, which i get the sense it means they want to live naturally, free from the patriarchal oppression, and be able to branch out, take up space in this city. The poet makes reference to the opera Tristand und Isolde (a story about lovers that do confuse death and love, due to a love potion) and makes a point to say that the opera is NOT the story that fate, magic, love potions, etc., have nothing to do with it. The existential theme is continued when the poet mentions a tape recorder a device that can only record sound, what is actually said and done. In a sense, she is saying that actions are what are important thoughts and intentions are meaningless in death, what remains after we are gone is how we were are seen by others. If our actions define who we are or how we tried to love, the recorded may have caught some ghost of us that recordable actions are what will be remembered after death. Impact of agile software development approach on industry Comparison of different agile methods and their applicability Today when the software industry is progressing rapidly, software usage and demand is expanding. Old approaches of software development are no more useful in present scenario. They are not able to satisfy customers needs in given time [1]. There are a number of software engineers who advocate this approach and there are huge software development organizations that prefer agile approach to use than other traditional methodologies. According to Andrew Begel and Nachiappan Nagappan [2] from more than two decade agile software methodology is gaining acceptance by the professionals since 1990. Due to fast changing technology, common customer can not define his needs properly. New approaches and methodologies were needed able to define changing requirements properly. Traditional methods such as waterfall model are not able to deal with real ways software engineering functions in software development. Some group of software consultants signed the agile SD manifesto in 2001. This was the era when agile software development was basically emerged. Main benefit of this approach is to promote and develop the response and speed of software development to change the requirement as well as deadlines [3] [4]. The struggles facing a minority group complicate further when these different facets of minority categories are combined into what is sometimes called a double minority. Throughout their writing, African American women have exposed how being a double minority changes the conditions of being a minority. In Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon, the African American female characters demonstrate the impact of having a double minority status. In order to successfully allege a constitutional deprivation, most courts require prisoners to demonstrate some actual injury resulting from a denial of access. In the absence of a legitimate administrative concern, however, prisoners may not be hindered from gaining access to the judicial process. We live in a disposable society where fast food is served in plastic or Styrofoam containers and discarded instead of glass dishes. Many people use plastic water bottles instead drinking from the tap. Plastic soda bottles are used instead of glass returnable bottles. Plastic grocery bags have replaced the brown paper grocery bags. Unfortunately, not enough people properly dispose so all this plastic ends up as plastic pollution by littering road ways, parks, beaches, and oceans, or it gets buried in landfills. For many years scientists tried to develop plastic instead of using natural made products such as ivory from elephant tusks and tortoise shells from turtles. Finally, in 1862 and English inventor named Alexander Parkes invented the first plastic called Parkesine (Knight 8). The first truly synthetic plastic was developed in 1907 which was called Bakelite and was made from coal tar (9). At the time it was used for jewelry, telephones, clocks, and radios (9). Over the years improvements have been made in the production of plastic. Thirteen riders left Washington DC, hoping to bring attention to the segregation laws in the south, and force federal action. This contradiction is problematic because the boundaries between the civil and the natural, the domestic and the international, overlap at times (112). For instance, war on the outside invariably affects the civic order on the inside. Because of this contradiction, we are forced to bear the burdens of supporting both orders separately, thus negating the advantages brought by either. We are subject to the vagaries of the international system when it affects civil life, and yet as individuals our hands are tied and we are unable to enjoy natural freedom ourselves because we are also subject to the authority, at times oppressive, of the civil domestic structures (which, as we have seen, fail to protect us from all international affects) (112). Even a state that hopes for the status quo can t count on it because other states won t allow it to remain (114). My goal, however, is to explore one of the most popular compositions that he wrote for his cornerstone instrument, which is Op.27 No.2, more widely known to the world as his Moonlight Sonata. This legendary sonata was written to completion in 1801, and it is said that Beethoven wrote it in dedication to one of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the somber tone that the work carries does not mean that it leaves anything to be desired in terms of its complexity, variety, and overall sound. Truly, just by listening to this piece off of the bat and attempting to analyze the style, it became very clear to see exactly why it is as highly revered and regarded as it is within the world of classical music, and among all of Beethoven s other masterpieces. Something else that is remarkable about this piece of music is the fact that it intentionally does not share the form that is considered standard for piano sonatas. It is considered a more or less improvised variation of the Quasi Sonata form, mainly in the way its harmony is set up. The truth is that part of what makes this piece so special is the fact that it is different, the fact that it deviates from the standard course of what it is and was thought that a sonata is supposed to be. For this reason, and by daring to think outside the box, Beethoven created what is now considered one of the greatest pieces of classical music ever composed. The truth is that in listening to it, it definitely does become difficult to place, identify, or compare, simply because it is so different than most any piece of classical music that one could try to compare it to. Employers willingness to hire ex offenders is also influenced by the type of industry and position, the type and severity of crime committed by the job applicant, and work experience since release from prison. In many states, the easy availability of criminal history data may also present a barrier to employment. The focus group research found that the employers believed that an applicant with a criminal background is less appealing than an applicant that has never been convicted of a crime. That means that ex offenders will have a more difficult time finding gainful employment. • 40. One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Comparison Essay I d Die for You Haeun Ro The changes people experience over time can range from minor differences to drastic alterations in their personality. Even complete transformations can sometimes be hard to notice, as they may happen subtly and gradually. One of the most interesting elements of novels is how a character matures and develops over time, the way an individual would in reality. Randle McMurphy, the hero figure of One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest by Ken Kesey, started out as a light hearted rebel who challenged authority for entertainment, then became a martyr, eventually dying for the patients of the ward. This character development is integral to the plot, as it is what actually drives the story forward into its climax and conclusion. Milos Forman, the director of the film adaptation of the book, was unsuccessful in portraying this vital element of the novel. McMurphy acted consistently until the ending, when he behaved abruptly and unexpectedly differently. This not only confused the viewers of the movie, but also changed the true meaning behind his actions. Randle McMurphy s shift in personality advanced the plot because it created the main conflict of the novel. Emile Durkheim Social Facts Examples According to Emile Durkheim, a social fact is a manner of acting, thinking and feeling engaged by individuals because and on condition that other members of the social group are also engaged in the same thing. He said that social facts exist outside human consciousness because it is external, objective and inherited. It is not in the mind of the person, it is in the environment. Social facts also have a coercive power that can have a causal influence. We often realize and be aware of the social fact if we stay away from them, resist or contradict because we are usually unaware of all the social facts. Social facts do not necessarily require social institutions or organizations for it to be recognized as a social fact because there are social facts that are not institutional facts. The story starts out, The Year was 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren t only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way. (Vonnegut) Forced equality is the major theme in this short story, taking many features away from the characters including, their independent thought, their individuality, and their constitutional rights. Harrison Bergeron takes place in the future where everyone is subjected to wearing devices, also known as handicaps, that takes away unequaled, unsurpassed characteristics of the each person, in order to make every person average and equal to one another. Two of the main characters George and Hazel Bergeron are the first example of this ruling that we see in the story. George is described as intelligent and strong and therefore is subjected to many handicaps where his wife, Hazel Bergeron is considered to be average and therefore is not subjected to any handicaps. Benjamin Reed describes Hazel as, so average even her name is the eye color between brown and blue. Her natural mental state is equivalent to George s natural mind.
