Incident Response And Forensics Investigation Essay
Introduction
Incident response and forensics investigations are closely related aspects of managing the
activities that occurs after an information technology (IT) incident occurs. In this paper, we will
explore the various aspects of incident response and forensics as they apply to an IT incident and
by examining the details in the enclosed case study, we will show how those aspects apply to that
situation. To begin with, we will discuss the differences between incident response and forensic
activities. Next, we will cover some of the challenges involved with first responder handling of
evidence as it applies to incident response and computer forensics. We will also be covering some
of the steps required for a comprehensive forensics and incident response plan. Additionally, we will
outline the steps required for effective integration of forensics and incident response procedures in
externally contracted forensic situations. Lastly, we will present a brief evaluation of the incident
response resources available to manage incident response and forensics activities. The Differences
Between Incident Response and Forensics
Understanding the differences between incident response and forensic activities is a key aspect of
any effective organizational IT management plan. Due to their similarities and their close
relationship to each other, these terms are sometimes used interchangeably but it is important to
understand they each have their own specific function. Both

Science Vs. Religion In Apocalyptic Science Fiction
One of the many prevalent themes in Apocalyptic Science Fiction is the ongoing presence of
science vs. religion. The debate between the two has been studied among society for many years.
Though I would argue that this was not always the case. The debate between science and religion
began to take place once society began to advance. Moreover when the separation of church and
state was accepted. This paper will critically analyse the relationship of sciencevs. religion.
Furthermore, study the presence of this relationship in the following examples; Planet of the Apes,
The Machine Stops, and I am Legend.
The role of religion is very deeply rooted within our society. Once religion was given the freedom
of practice for most countries and its separation in governing bodies, many things changed. Social,
political, and cultural values had shifted creating a period with new ideas and new ways of
looking at things. Science began to emerge in this period. Man strived to discover the unknown. As
Mostafa Malaekah explains any ignorance, however great, could be forgiven except for man to be ...

Science Fiction. This work feature a character who s genetic makeup is unknown, and the reader

The Rising Health Anxieties For The United States
The continuous rising health anxieties for the United States, adolescence is the increasing rate of
teenagers that are going through an outburst with diverse sexual transmitted diseases. Sexually
transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that you can get from having sexual intercourse with
someone who has the infection(s) and or are creating one through that exposing period. The causes
of STDs are surrounded by multiple bacteria, parasites and viruses invading the areas used during
intercourse, such as oral, anal and through regular sexual encounters. There are more than 20 types
of STDs (Nursingceu), including the following: Hepatitis, Chlamydia, Herpes, Scabies, Syphilis,

Teen sexual health standpoints must be lifted to lodge the up to date compressions, myths, and
the realities of the pressures and dangerous outcomes that the new generation is facing or if
misinformed will soon face, in the relations of beginning to be sexually active and living a
healthy and cautious sexual life in order to protect the teens from continuing to see high rates of
STD reduction and transmission. The youth today may not see that infections and diseases are
carried through the people they may surround themselves with. Not only can people get these
illnesses through sexual encounters, but also through person to person contact. Infectious diseases
are those that are transmitted from person to person by direct or indirect contact. Viruses,
bacteria, parasites, and fungi all cause infectious disease. Malaria, measles, and respiratory
illnesses are examples of infectious diseases. (Health Line) It is important for the youth to receive
notice of these facts. Parents do not really give much of a talk when it comes to this subject,
because they feel since their children have health class they ll learn everything they need to learn
through there. Health class does cover some minor cautionary risks to diseases, but do not give the
information that needs to be conducted towards their classrooms. Sex education should be
considered to be a required class during their freshman year. Their

Short Story Of Neemecia
Ever since childhood I have always desired something different every day, week, month, and
year. It did not have to be a tangible object necessarily, often it was something of the intangible
variety: fulfillment, understanding, trust, or even love. One time when I was having a
meltdown, as all children do from time to time, my father simply asked why I was acting the
way I was. My response was more sobbing and incoherent muttering, at the time I had no idea
why I was really crying, I just knew that there was a lot of things going on around me at the the
time that I was confused about. I now realize I was in despair because I had needed some form
of understanding, some sliver of comprehension that I was only a second grader and as such
could not do everything that my thirteen year old could do, such as; stay up past eight, drink
full cups of milk instead of half cups, or watch the really cool looking movies, Now I still desire
these things just in a different form. The age of an individual has an immense impact on how
one feels about their desires, desires that make us who we are yet still promote strife. In the
short story Nemecia, by Kristin Valdez Quade, a superb writer who is renown for her work in
short stories, one can draw the conclusion that as the protagonist, Maria, comes of age, her order
of priorities develop and intensify based off of her circumstances. As the story progresses we see
how the most intimate desires of a little girl develop with her until she

The Great Wave Off Kanagawa Analysis
The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai is an important piece in the history of
Japanese art because it illustrates how native Japanese aesthetics and beliefs continue to thrive in
its own art, despite new, foreign influences and changing trends in what is deemed as beautiful.
Similar to many other landscape woodblock prints, it demonstrates an influence from the west
with its ability to produce a sense of realism, space, and depth. Such an influence, however, does
not dominate over the native Japanese aesthetics, but is incorporated with them instead. One
example is how the composition appears to be more heavily weighted on the left hand side due to
the large size of the cresting wave. The sense of asymmetry has its roots since ancient

Extended Definition Of Love
Love can be very hurtful, painful, and stressful sometimes and some people really need to know
how to handle love. From my opinion love means to have the most positive feelings for someone.
Having feelings for someone is a good thing. People do not understand the full meaning of love.
The full meaning of loveis giving your all and putting trust in someone that really love certain
people. Some synonyms for love are fondness, tenderness, warmth, intimacy.
The first synonym is fondness. Fondness means caring or having the feeling for someone who are
really attached to somebody. For example some people have a fondness for their family. Another
example is people have a fondness with their dog. So mainly this word can be defined in so many
ways. People also use this word only if they are attached to someone like their best friend or
spouse. From ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tenderness means being nice to people and having a good heart for people when they are going
through something. For example there was a tenderness in the way she looked at him that had
amazed him. This word can be used in many different ways. The tenderness comes from your
heart which can always show how the way you look at somebody. People has different opinions on
how they use the word tenderness. There are many different signs for tenderness as well but people
just use them in a different way.
The third synonym is warmth. Warmth means to be safe around somebody that you trust or feel
comfortable with being around. Some people say they have the warmth with being around
certain people. For example she spoke her mind with great warmth. People use warmth in many
different ways. Some people say that they have warmth with their blankets. From my opinion
what this word means to me is being touch by somebody like you can feel their heart. Being able
to feel their heart is a good feeling to have. Warmth is a strong word to use for a relationship or
especially when you are trying to get out of

Essay about Insomnia
Insomnia
How many times during the night do we toss and turn, check the clock, and find it ticking away
and tell ourselves, quot;If I could fall asleep right now I would get at least five hours of sleep
quot;? But, sleep doesn t come so we continue to toss and turn. This happens to many people and
may suffer from a disorder known as insomnia. People who suffer from this disorder have many
complaints, and many have similar symptoms. Symptoms can vary from stress to pain to always
feeling tired. Insomnia is a very difficult disease to have to live with. It is hard for both those that
suffer from it and their family members.

cycle. To better understand this cycle of sleep scientists have used an electroencephalogram to
measure brain waves during sleep. A normal sleep cycle consists of five distinct stages with
paradoxical, or REM stage being the final stage. REM sleep is what is commonly known as deep
sleep.
There are many other causes of Insomnia such as the many environmental causes said by Ernest
Hartmann s The Sleeping Pill (1978). Hartmann states, quot;any loud noise or sounds that can
irritate or aggravate can disrupt a persons sleep quot; (p. 116). When trying to sleep, the littlest
things can bother someone s sleep whether hearing the bathroom water faucet dripping or even the
heater coming on during the night. All these things can keep a person up all night when they are
suffering from insomnia. He also claims, quot;there is a condition sometimes called habit insomnia
quot; (p. 116). Habit insomnia is when something caused the insomnia in the past so when the
sufferer associates it into habit. For example, when the see the bed that they have difficulty sleeping
on, they condition themselves to think that they can t sleep because of the bed, therefore they don t
sleep.
In Mendelson s Human Sleep and It s Disorders, (1977) Incidence of insomnia was found by doing
a sampling of 1,645

Monteverdi As An Epic Poem Analysis
Composing an opera seems like a daunting task, now imagine trying to take an Epic Poem and
make it into an opera, it seems almost like an ultimate challenge; a challenge only few would
take on. One of the most famous composers who took on this challenge was Claudio Giovanni
Antonio Monteverdi famously known only as Monteverdi, was one of the greatest composers of
his time and he was able to bring classical Greek Epic Poems to life. Even though Monteverdi was
one of the greatest composers of his times it must have been very daunting challenge to take a story
that had been only really heard and written down almost from interpretation from the Greeks and
turn it into an Italian Opera. Another challenge he may have faced was condensing the long Epic
Poem so that the audience could sit through the opera and still get the most important points of the
Epic Poem. One of biggest problems Monteverdi must have encountered was when he first began
to compose the story of Ulysses there was the challenge that it was in a completely different
language. Homer wrote the Odysseyin Greek and Monteverdi was Italian, to add to this the Greek
Homer wrote the story in was completely different from the Greek that the native people spoke.
Even though the Odyssey was already being translated, no one really knew how to translate
Greek; it had been a langue that basically disappeared for some time. This could have mean that
some of the story could have literally been lost in translation, or the Italian scholars could have
added even some parts of the story accidently due to misinterpretation. Monteverdi being one the
greatest composers would have had to study the story of Ulysses and known the story
thoroughly no matter what translation he may have read or heard. Knowing the plot of the story
he would then have to match musical pieces to each of the characters, and there were many
characters in this Epic Poem, who were fundamental to this opera even more difficult to
compose. Not only did Monteverdi have to face a language barrier but also, he then had to keep
in mind each character Homer wrote about. Homer incorporated many people into the Odyssey,
including characters from his past works as well as the gods as they played a

prior to moving into a new and foreign market, Company X must understand the various cross
cultural differences that are relevant to properly conducting business in China. By being more
sensitive to and understanding the cross cultural differences, Company X s transition into the new
market should be less challenging and improve its chances of acceptance. Language, work ethic and

For example, employee loyalty can be described and improved by reciprocating favors.
Developing business relationships are expected to take more time in the Chinese culture as
opposed to how they are developed in the united States. In the U.S., businesses and clients typically
meet in a formal setting and focus on the business requirements and solutions whereas, in China,
first, second and even third meetings might be in informal settings where business is not expected
to even be discussed. The legal system is another issue to be considered when doing business in
China because it is still viewed as being in a developing stage. Contracts, for example, are highly
influenced by this difference. In the Chinese culture, contracts describe how relationships will be
developed whereas in the United States, the contract is a binding agreement that spells out the
specific terms, conditions and expectations from each party involved. As Company X pursues the
possibility of expanding business to China, it must understand that the Chinese business culture
does not place as much emphasis on the binding force of a written contract. B. Compare U.S.
business practices to practices in your proposed country for each of the following: Product, Price,

Essay on The Importance of Following Orders
The importance of following orders in a time of war. 1. Team member2. Discipline 3. Causalities
Conclusion: Following Orders in the Armed Services in a Time of War By: Pv2 Beasley
Imagine being in an authoritative position in a war. Sounds cool right? Now imagine if your
subordinates didn t follow the orders you put out to them. You just imagined chaos right? In my
opinion there is no limit to the chaos that could happen if just one soldier didn t follow the orders
given to him/her. It doesn t matter what the rank of the soldier is. Following orders in the armed...

The team I m referring to is simply a cooperative unit. Being a part of a team entitles you to be
responsible for your actions, follow the orders of your subordinates, and perform them with
honor integrity and selfless service. How can following orders in a time of war affect your team
members? Imagine if you are on deployment to Iraq and you or a fellow soldier were told by
your supervisor to fill up the gas cans and bring them down to the motor pool once they were
filled and fill the vehicles up. What if you or the soldier decided to perform the order in your
own time and you/ they forget. Now imagine your team is given an order to move out due to
hostile parties moving in. Your team goes to the vehicles start them up and realize they are all
low on gas. I hope that expresses the importance of following orders while being a part of the
armed services in a time of war. The members of the armed forces are well know, and well
respected for their discipline. Part of that discipline comes from the ability to follow the orders
of your subordinates, even if they don t feel like it or don t agree with them. How disciplined
can a soldier be if they don t follow orders. The soldier in question can t be very disciplined if
they fail to follow instructions right? It goes against everything a soldier stands for. This makes
them a danger to their team members, especially in a time of war. I do not think

Bullying
Bullying Phoebe Nora Prince was born in England but at a young age moved to Fanore, County
Clare, Ireland. You can t get more rural than Fanore, it has one main street, blink and you miss it.
In fact the West of Ireland is notoriously rural and unspoiled. Fanore is nestled on the Irish Sea
and is 10 miles from Quilty, the village where my Grandmother came from in County Clare. When
I heard about this young girl taking her life after being subjected to bullying, it really hit home for
me. My heart broke for her. All I could think was that she was like a lamb to slaughter. Thrown into

He had a choice to do the right thing here and he didn t. According to the WhiteHouse.Gov website:
Bullies themselves are also at risk for long term negative outcomes. Several studies suggest that
bullying in early childhood may be an early sign of the development of violent tendencies,
delinquency, and other criminal behavior.
I believe that while bullying in and of itself is not delinquent behavior, it does have the potential
to lead to delinquent behavior. But there s a flip side of bullying and delinquency, according to
the Pardee RAND Graduate School dissertation No Bullies Allowed , Results show that
victimization prior to the age of 12 years is significantly predictive of the development of several
delinquent behaviors, including running away from home, selling drugs, vandalism, theft, other
property crimes, and assault. Ultimately the parent of the bully bears the responsibility for
bullying. They need to address the situation with their child, getting help for the child s aggressive
behavior. But like so much of life, issues must be attacked on all fronts. Schools, police, parents,
peers, courts all have a part to play in solving the problem. The Benjamin Franklin School in
Ridgewood, NJ had a great idea in bringing 8th grade students to speak to 6th graders, explaining to
the students the importance of staying off social media and telling the students to speak to the

What do you understand to be the concept of entrepreneurship and why has it become such an

Q2) What do you understand to be the concept of entrepreneurship and why has it become such an
important area of focus?
The concept of entrepreneurship is often viewed as a function, which involves the exploitation of
opportunities, which exist within a market. Such exploitation is most commonly associated with
the direction and/or combination of productive inputs. Entrepreneurs usually are considered to bear
risk while pursuing opportunities, and often are associated with creative and innovative actions. In
addition, entrepreneurs undertake a managerial role in their activities, but routine management of an

Entrepreneurship is the dynamic process of creating incremental wealth. Individuals who assume
the major risks in terms of equity, time and/or career commitment or provide value for some
product or service create the wealth. The product or service may or may not be new or unique, but
the entrepreneur must somehow infuse value by receiving and locating the necessary skills and
resources. Although each of these definitions views entrepreneurs from a slightly different
perspective, they all contain similar notions, such as newness, organizing, creating, wealth, and risk
taking. Yet each definition is somewhat restrictive, since entrepreneurs are found in all professions:
education, medicine, research, law, architecture, engineering, social work, distribution and
government.
Entrepreneurship is the process of creating something new with value by devoting the necessary
time and effort, assuming the accompanying financial, psychic, and social risks, and receiving the
resulting rewards of monetary and personal satisfaction and independence. Four basic aspects of

Honorable Man Research Paper
Honorable Man Tyler Gilles, manger of group sales, of the Quad City Mallards can be very loud

he is as a person or in the work force but, there are two main points that I am going to stick with:
his personality and how he handles tough situations. I have seen him get screamed at by angry
fans on multiple occasions, but that never stops him from smiling afterwards. He is the type of
person that lights up a room when he grins, but at the same time he can make you question his
authority. I am an intern with the Quad City Mallards, and as I sit at the Fan Accommodations

he makes it his duty to remember everybody that he comes across. As I help fans, I will have at

How Do The Arts Affect High School Students
Art Programs are Fundamental to Education.
While many people believe that the arts are not a necessity for the school curriculum and that it
has no effect on students academic achievements, it actually plays a big part in it. The arts have a
great influence on students academic results as well as the students overall. Art programs are a
necessity to schools as it helps at risk students as well as regular students. New research has proven
that the arts help at risk students have better academic results as well as help them become more
civically engaged among other things. Independent studies have shown that high school students

A Paradigm For Multiple Input Multiple Output ( Mimo )...
Abstract A paradigm for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel modeling demands
diversity technique to compensate the effects of fading and shadowing. In this paper, error
performance of MIMO system is analyzed with orthogonal space time block code (OSTBC) and
maximal ratio combining (MRC) techniques over Weibull gamma (WG) fading channel. WG
distribution forms a composite channel model which is used to determine the effects of multipath
as well as shadowing. Closed form expressions for symbol error rate (SER) are computed for
MIMO systems using OSTBC and MRC in this scenario. Consequently, the effects of fading
severity by varying shape parameters are also shown by simulation and analytical results.
Keywords Multiple input multiple output (MIMO), orthogonal space time block code (OSTBC),
maximal ratio combining (MRC), Weibull gamma (WG) fading, symbol error rate (SER).
Introduction In the present wireless systems, the demand of proliferation of bandwidth for high
data rate and reliable communication requirement is increasing. Multiple input multiple output
(MIMO) systems are investigated to achieve these requirements. Also, diversity techniques are
recommended to increase the reliability of system. Orthogonal space time block codes (OSTBCs)
are employed in MIMO systems to achieve the full transmit diversity while allowing a simple
maximum likelihood decoding algorithm. This algorithm is based on linear processing of received

The Progressive Era Essay
The Progressive Era was a period that exposed the contradictions found in American society in the
late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Theodore Roosevelt summed up the Progressive
/Reform feeling in his Square Deal speech that it was all about morals, not economics. His goal
was the moral regeneration of the business world. He preached that it was wrong for some people
to get ahead in business and politics by tricks and schemes, while others were cheated out of the
opportunity. This was the kind of talk that millions of Americans from all areas of society could
understand and respond to.
Roosevelt simply acted in the interests of the common working man, fixing things that they found

American reform movements have generally been started as a rebellion against the control of big
businesses and corrupt government. The poor conditions of schools and the entire education system
at the turn of the twentieth century were a major cause for reform. That reform movement has
influenced the entire education system and has made it better and more suitable for
students.(Buenker, 2007)
Civil rights for African Americans and women was just beginning to become an issue in the late
19th century. Many progressivists spoke out for suffrage for women and equal rights for black
people. Today, civil rights for minorities is still a big cause for reform. There are many different
oraganizations whose goal is to reform the way society, the government and businesses treat any
type of minority, including Hispanics, homosexuals and Native Americans. However civil rights is
just one of the many causes of modern reform groups. Others include reform of huge companies and
monoplolies, welfare programs, education systems and many, many other issues.
A reform movement is a shout against people, businesses, governments or ideas that are morally
corrupt. Not all reform movements are successful in making an actual change, however even if a

The Cultural Elements Of Kaffir Boy By Mark Mathabane
The Cultural Elements of Kaffir Boy Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane is an incredibly complex
novel detailing the author s childhood and coming of age in a South Africa gripped by apartheid. It
also describes his steadfast pursuit of tennis as a means of escaping the aforementioned system that
legalized and even encouraged racism. Though the autobiography captures copious personal
struggles and internal conflicts, the elements of the text that truly stand out are the cultural ones
these being the elements of society, religion, and politics. The most prevalent of these cultural
elements, and the first one introduced to the reader, is the social element. On the very first page of
chapter one, Mathabane states that, The white man of South Africacertainly does not know me. He
certainly does not know the conditions under which I was born and had to live for eighteen
years. So my story is intended to show him with words a world he would otherwise not see
because of a sign and a conscience racked with guilt and to make him feel what I felt when he
contemptuously called me a Kaffir boy. (Mathabane 3). Issues of race and racism are the more
frequently described types of social element in Kaffir Boy , however, the power struggle between
Mathabane s mother and father is also discussed. When Mathabane s father is arrested or away for
a long period of time, his mother seizes control of the household. She brings in the food and the
money. Upon the return of his father, she is

Legal Ethical Issues with Advertising and Online Counseling
Since the end of World War 2, the technology one sees around them and uses everyday has grown
exponentially. In the field of counseling, phones, fax machines, copiers, and computers are all used
to run everyday operations and transfer information. Despite how great technology can be, ethical
issues can arise because of it. For example, talking on the phone with a client in a crisis situation
can create a condition in which confidentiality can be breeched. (McMinn, 1999).
One new way in which technology has been used to extend the services of the counseling field is
through online counseling. According to Corey (2011), online counseling can be beneficial because

LaCombe s online counseling business and advertising.
The first ethical issue with this online counseling venture is the fact that it is labeled as an online
counseling program for people in crisis, but one does not need to provide their name to get therapy.
This breaks two ethical codes found in the American Counseling Association s Code of Ethics
(2005). The first one is ACA: A.1.a which cites that as a counselor, one is responsible for the
welfare of the client s and promoting that welfare. The second one is A.12.c which states that
counselors should avoid using technology assisted counseling services when it would be better
or more appropriate to use face to face services (ACA, 2005). If a suicidal individual goes on Dr.
LaCombe s site and let s their online therapist know, how is said therapist supposed to get that
individual help if they do not know their name? In addition, it may be more appropriate to help
people in crisis in person as opposed to over the internet.
Secondly, according to Corey (2011), many online counseling providers do not have an intake
procedure, a confidentiality waiver, or informed consent write up. Dr. LaCombe s site does not
have an intake procedure or confidentiality waiver. Her website has some aspects of informed
consent such as a statement about live counseling versus online counseling and payment. That said

Racial Profiling of the Black Male
Racial Profiling of the Black Male Racial profiling occurs when authority uses someone s race or
ethnicity to decide whether or not to use enforcement. This controversial act is highly illegal and
is mostly caused by stereotypes of certain races and ethnicities. Black males are mostly targeted
due to the color of their skin, the type of car they drive, the genre of music they are listening to
and how they are dressed. Some call this act DWB, driving while black. Black males are stopped

Black males should stop walking around sagging and acting foolish in public. Maybe if people
would not draw attention to themselves, the police would not target them as a threat. The police
are here to keep citizens safe and out of harms way. According to Peter Braham, racial profiling
(which encompasses stop and frisk ) is a matter of fierce argument between the police, who
contend that they are merely responding to crime patterns , and their critics, who contend that
blacks and Hispanics are unfairly targeted by the police. If police officers and crime stoppers did
not try to stop those that look like a threat to society, everyone would be very unsafe. No one

police are here to get criminals off of the streets and have the right to do their jobs. In the true

Social Media And Identity
Introduction
Adolescence is a time where an individual s sense of identity starts to emerge, with an unlimited
access to the internet adolescence are influenced by the content they are exposed to which in turn
affects them in establishing individual identity. Nearly every adolescent growing up in the United
States has access to the internet or some form of media and social media. In fact, a study showed
that; 93% of adolescents reported belonging to a social media site, 72% access the Internet with a
phone, 49% accept friend requests from strangers, 42% send friend requests to strangers, and 55%
report meeting people from social media sites in person (Knowles, Lee, O Riordan, Lazebnik,
2014). The internet is a vast place and can offer adolescents ample opportunities to experiment with
their identities. Six hundred adolescents were given a questioner on internet habits, of the
adolescents who used the internet for chat or Instant Messaging, 50 percent indicated that they had
engaged in internet based identity experiments (Valkenburg, Schouten, Peter, 2005). Furthermore,
media use can directly impact an adolescent s self esteem, which in turn impacts them in
establishing their identity. Many are convinced that high self esteem produces salutary outcomes
and low self esteem is at the root of personal and social problems and that self esteem is an
outcome of the identity verification process (Stets Burke, 2014). The central focus of this paper is

Interior trim was provided for each truck in the form of kits that contained a specific group of

Navistar assembly, problem arose when assemblers attempted to assemble the trim into truck, were
not able to do so because of missing or inappropriate interior trim parts. therefore, the subsequent

My Vassar College Id Makes Everything Okay By Claudia Rankine
While racism is seen as a broad topic and people can generally grasp its effects on a broad scale,
there are many more personal effects of racism and it effects every person differently. Each
person can respond to racism in very different ways, while some may be motivated by it others may
be harmed by it. In the essays My Vassar CollegeID Makes Everything Okay by Kiese Laymon and

racism react to the effects of it. In My Vassar College ID Makes Everything Okay by Kiese

Hope Was Here Character Analysis
Have you ever faced hardship in your life but found your way through it? Well, in the novel
Hope Was Here by Joan Bauer many of the characters go through tremendous obstacles in their
life but eventually overcome them. Examples like Hope and Addie are characters in the novel
that faced struggles but both found ways to overcome them. Their struggles can even be
personally related to my life. While many people see an obstacle and run, Hope and Addie find
there ways to overcome them, and even if things do not always go as planned, things always turn
out for the better.
Hope was a character in the novel Hope Was Here who showed struggles throughout the book and
overcame them. She struggled because she lived her life with a mother who was barely with her and
a father who was unknown to both Hope and her mother (Bauer 6,59). She overcame her struggle
with her mom never being there by just accepting that she wasn t the right person to be a mother
and that she would not be around much. Hope knew she would have to get used to Addie being
the mother figure in her life which was not a big challenge for her. Overcoming the absence of her
father was harder for Hope then overcoming her struggles with her mom. Hope knew that her

Justice, And Nozick s Utilitarian Theory Of Justice
Justice means giving each person what he or she deserves. Justice and fairness are closely related
terms that are often today used interchangeably (Manuel Velasquez, 2014). Similarly distributive
justice is concerned with the fair allocation of resources among different members of the
community. Fair allocation normally takes into account the total amount of goods to be dispersed,
the dispensing procedure, and the pattern of dispersion that results (Maiese, 2013). This essay is
based on distributive justiceor fair distribution of social goods in health care setting. Justice is the

Rawls Justice as Fairness
According to this theory everyone is to have an equal right to the most extensive total system of
equal basic liberties compatible with a similar system of liberty for all (Gray, 2011). In Rawls
general concepts it says that all social primary goods liberty and opportunity, income and wealth,
and the bases of self respect are to be distributed equally unless an unequal distribution of any or
all of these goods is to the advantage of the least favored (Rawls, 1971). Rawls has two
principles in justice as fairness. First principle is liberty and second one is wealth. In principle of
liberty everyone is to have equal right to the most extensive total system of equal basic liberties

This means that we have a gene that tells our body how long we have to live. If this is true we
could change that gene and live longer than predetermined. For example that gene is a timer that is
counting down, imagine you could add time to the timer prolonging the time left. Different animals
have proven this theory to work. A type of worm can to 300 years old, which could support the first
theory that genes determine your lifespan.
The second theory is that over time our body and DNA receive damage until the point when our
body will not function anymore. This theory states that how long we live ... Show more content on

The Error Hypothesis refers to the errors, which occur in the chemical reactions in producing DNA,
RNA, or proteins because the metabolic system is not 100% accurate. Cell death is the reason for
unrepaired errors due to insufficient energy or nutrients. The Free Radical Theory refers to
molecules, which have a strong tendency to link to other molecules messing up their functions.
They are produced for metabolism and sometimes produced by accident if oxygen is always
present. The Cross Linkage Theory states that the aging of living organisms is due to the
formation of bridges between protein molecules in the DNA, which cannot be broken by enzymes
that interferes in the production of RNA by DNA. Can be caused by metabolism. The Brain

The Benefits Of Border Patrol
A total of 38,901 Muslim refugees entered the U.S. in 2016, making up 46% of refugees who
entered the country. The United States needs to increase border patrol and provide more extensive
qualifications for the naturalization process. Consequently, the border patrol has not been able to
stop all the immigrants from immigrating illegally. According to The Truth About Border Security
We have been able to stop only about 30% of those attempting to cross our border between 1996
and 2009... . Based on these percentages, we can see how inadequate our border patrol is at
controlling our borders. On the same token, we need to reform our naturalization test to enter the
U.S. and becoming a citizen. Professor Winke told reporter Sam Harnett, I think

Parable Of The Prodigal Son Analysis
Going to great lengths to recover what was lost and then celebrating its recovery seems to be the
common theme of several of the parables. The parable of the prodigal son has three main
characters, the kind and forgiving father who remains the same throughout the parable is a picture
of God and Jesus. The younger son symbolizes sinners and the older brother bring the religious
leaders and the Pharisees. It started off focusing the younger son who got the share of the property.
The younger son insults his father with this request (Carson, NIV Zondervan Study Bible, 2109)
because in Jewish writing explicitly discourage discussing inheritance before the person s death.

The other half focuses on the older brother s angry reaction to the celebration of the younger son
coming back, which parallels that of the attitude of the religious leaders and Pharisees towards
the tax collector and sinners. They outwardly they lived blameless lives, but inwardly their
attitudes were rotten (Matthew 23:25) Although, it is true that the older son worked hard,
obeyed his father, and brought no disgrace to his family; his attitude towards his brother was out
of rage and disgust. Even refuse to acknowledge the younger son as his brother. The older son
focuses on the outward actions, but not inward attitude. He was to focus on himself and equality,
that he fails to recognize his brother repentance. This passage probably refers to 1 john 2: 9 11.
Later the father pointed out he has always been available to ask but never utilized the blessing at
his disposal.
In the parable of the lost sheep and the lost coin, is related to the parable Prodigal Son in the
sense of when the sheep is brought back, the coin is found there will be a celebration, but there
would also be more joy over the repentant sinner than the ninety nine righteous persons who need
no repentance. (v. 15:7), like the prodigal son parable.
The underlying theme in all of them is about how we are dependent to God and although God doesn

The Effects Of Alcohol Abuse And Binge Drinking
College students will always encounter some type of problem during their college experience. A
problem can be something simple such as a lack of adequate parking or more complex such as
sexual harassment. A new report from Student Monitor asked college students to identify the
biggest problems on campus, and their top three answers were cost of education, stress, and alcohol
abuse, (Jacobs, 2014, p.1). College students will be affected by a number of problems during their
college career. As a professional in student affairs it is our duty to help students decrease their
problems and help them have a successful experience. Andrews Universityis experiencing one of
the top three biggest social issues on their campus, alcohol abuse and... Show more content on

This can be due to the fact that when students attend a four year college they most often are
exposed to new experiences, friends, and they may also have less parental supervision. Attending
college can be a major transition for young adults which in return can lead to trying new things such
as, alcohol.
It is my job to change this social issue that has become a major problem on campus. The first
step I am going to take is make awareness of developing and enforcing alcohol campus policies.
Colleges and universities are mandated by the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989
to put into practice a program to prevent the use of illicit drugs and the abuse of alcohol by
students. (Marshall et al, 2011). This is a great way to inform students about their college or
university campus rules regarding alcohol. Andrews University has policies set however, since
alcohol abuse and binge drinking is a major concern on campus, I will have to develop and
reinforce these polices. When developing and changing these policies it is important to remember
to include the entire student body as well as the surrounding community. Campuses typically have
a diverse student population therefore it is important to target approaches specifically to various
groups (Anderson et al, 1997). For example, messages and certain approaches regarding alcohol
abuse will be different

The Walt Disney Corporation
The Walt Disney Corporation was founded in 1923 under the name Disney Brothers Cartoon
Studio by brothers Walt and Roy Disney. The company brandished its current name in 1986 after
the death of Walt Disney (1). This company like other large conglomerates has a vice grip on the
flow of information that reaches consumers like you and me. Some people believe that having
these corporations constricting our access to information leads to a generation of uninformed
people, but in the day and age when anybody can get onto to google and search with specific
enough criteria to find articles proving any stand point... they were going to be uninformed any
way. For example, there are people out there who believe vaccines cause autism, there are plenty...

For example, The Walt DisneyCorporation owns more channels than just the ones that share its
namesake. These companies include: ABC broadcast network, Disney Channel, Freeform
publishing, The History Channel, Lifetime Movie Network, Marvel Studios, Pixar Studios, AND a
32% holding of Hulu, an 80% holding of ESPN Inc., and 50% holding of A E. If you didn t know
the name by now, then it should be painfully obvious at this point. The scarier thing is that each
of the networks listed has even more subsidiaries that add to the reach of Disney. One example is
ESPN Inc., it owns ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPN on ABC, ESPNews, ESPN Deportes, ESPN
Films, ESPNU, ESPN Classic, ESPN Now, SEC Network, and ESPN The Magazine... just to name
a few (6).
Disney is known for that Iconic shape of one specific cartoon mouse, the symbol it s self has
changed as the years go on but Mickey Mouse s head/ silhouette is always an easily recognizable
logo for a company that everyone knows. The logo was originally adopted in 1991, 63 years
after the original Steamboat Willie was produced (1). This was one of the many firsts for Disney
allowing them to maintain their status of a multimedia powerhouse of the US. The very first
completely animated feature length film was produced by Disney in 1937, you may have heard of
it, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. No one has ever even attempted anything like this

Cannibalism Is Not Illegal ( Eveleth )
The Other, Other, White Meat
We had to eat these dead bodies, and that was it , this is what Andes plane crash survivor, Roberto
Canessa, had to say on his experience with cannibalism. Cannibalism is the consumption of a
member of the same species. Consuming human flesh is not against the law in the United States,
therefore cannibalism is not illegal (Eveleth). In the eyes of the law, murdering someone to eat is
wrong, but the act of eating a human is not. To Americans the simple thought of eating another
human is sickening. To most that is true, but to others consuming human flesh is a way of life.
Some cultures practice cannibalism for their own spiritual beliefs and others have to eat human
flesh to survive. Human flesh has proteins most want when eating meat. The act of eating human
meat has gotten a bad reputation over the years, looking back in history, people thousands of
years ago have different views. Cannibalism is a way to survive, with the proteins necessary to
do so, and a way for cultures to express their beliefs. Cannibalism is a taboo topic most people do
not know enough about. People eat people for a variety of reasons, the most well known being
killers getting a thrill from eating their victims. Although not everyone who is a cannibal gets a
high from eating humans, Americans still see it as evil. Jeffrey Dahmer is the most well known
example of this, a man who gets a sexual desire from killing and eating his victims. Everyone
across America knew of

Reflection Of Generations
Generations
My grandfather was an excessively organized and thrifty man who liked to repurpose what
others threw away. He used to clean used paint cans to leave them gleaming. Sometimes remains
of paint in the cans were still fresh and they were relatively easy to clean. On the contrary, if the
cans were old and the paint on them was dry, my grandfather had to use some solvent and a lot of
old rags. My grandfather spent many hours working on that activity. When the cans were perfectly
clean, he used them to store screws, nails, nuts and bolts properly organized in his garage. Being
thrifty and organized were characteristics in people of my grandfather s generation; however, some
of the things that they did seemed absurd to me at that time. In the same way, it is probably that my
daughters find it senseless some things that I and people of my generation do. Nevertheless, it is
not about judging one generation to the other. We need to understand that no generation is better or
worse than another: simply, our behavior is different depending on the times and circumstances.
Respecting each other and learning from our differences, we will be able to live in harmony as a
big multigenerational family.
Each generation has certain characteristics and values with which the members of it can identify.
Members of Generation X highly value their job and family time; so they try to find a balance
between these two aspects of their lives. Generation X are hardworking people, but they are

Running Record
The Running Record of Oral reading is series of assessments administered over a number of weeks
/months that help determine the reading level of a student. The Running Record begins with the
test administrator, typically a teacher, finding text that they believe the student can read with 90 to
94 percent accuracy(Instructional Reader). If a student scores 95% or above(Independent
Reader), or below 89%(Frustrated Reader) then the text has to increase or decrease in difficulty so
that the reader is in the instructional range. The running record is scored by the administrator
while the student reads the selected text. It is scored when the number of correctly read words is
divided by the total number of words in the text. A separate score

Baptism and the Holy Spirit
Baptism and the Holy Spirit in the Book of Acts
Water Baptism vs Baptized with the Spirit and Power
The book of Acts begins with Jesus parting words to His apostles before His ascension to the right
hand of God the Father. In His opening statement Jesus promises the Holy Spirit, and He does this
by distinguishing the coming of the Spirit from the baptism of John. For John truly baptized with
water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. (Acts 1:5) John had
testified the same of his baptism, I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is
coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you
with the Holy Spirit and fire. (Matthew 3:11, also in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But the following two consideration indicate that the unique baptism of the Holy Spirit which
accompanied the apostle s ministry is not normative for the Lord s church.
в—Џ First, not everyone who was baptized (with water) later received the baptism of the Spirit.
In fact, of the (at least) nine occurrences of water baptism in the book of Acts, two are followed
by the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and one is preceded by the Holy Spirit precedes baptism by
water (Acts 10). Pentecost is a unique instance where three thousand are baptized with water
after the Apostles were baptized by the Holy Spirit. So we see that already in the book of Acts
that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is not the normal and regular form of baptism. On the other
hand, every convert to the Holy Church in Acts is baptized with water. This is why the church has
taught that the baptism of water in the name of the Holy Trinity is a sacrament which works faith
and gives the forgiveness of all sin, while the unique baptism of the Holy Spirit is not a sacrament,
but a sign of the unique office of Jesus (ascended to the right hand of God) and of the apostles
(sent by Jesus to teach His Word).
в—Џ Second, as just mentioned, the signs that accompanied Jesus ministry also accompany the
apostolic preaching, showing that their word was pure. (See Acts 2:22; Hebrews 2:4)
St Peter preached in his first sermon, Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man

An Approach Into Los Angeles International Airport
On February 1st, 1991 USAir Flight 1493 (USA 1493), a Boeing 737 300 (B 737), was on an
approach into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), as part of a scheduled stop prior to
completing its journey to San Francisco. USA 1493 was piloted by Captain Colin Shaw who had
over 16,000 flight hours and First Officer David Kelly with over 4,000 total flight hours.
Meanwhile on the ground at LAX, SkyWest AirlinesFlight 5569 (Skywest 5569), a Fairchild
Metroliner, had just executed its clearance to taxi to Runway24L from Gate 32 given by the local
controller (LC2) in the LAX tower, and was holding short (NTSB, 1991, p. 5). It was now
6:03PM, about 40 minutes after Sunset, with a cloud deck at 30,000 feet and 15 miles of visibility
(NTSB,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the nose began to lower the two pilots of USA 1493 immediately saw Skywest 5569 sitting
on the runway and applied the brakes, but there was no time. At 6:07PM USA 1493 slammed
into Skywest 5569, crippling the nose gear of the B 737 and igniting an explosion that resulted in
the two aircraft skidding off the left side of the runway and slamming into an unoccupied fire
station. 64 passengers, 3 cabin crewmembers, and the First Officer successfully evacuated the
burning B 737 (NTSB, 1991, p. 8).
Investigation
During the investigation, NTSB investigators processed and analyzed voice recordings, toxicology
results, conducted meteorological, site surveys and reviewed shift logs as well as airline and airport
operating procedures. The voice recordings and operating procedures were the most vital in
understanding the diminished situational awareness that took place that day. USA 1493 s FDR
and the ATC radio recordings were successfully recovered and would help investigators
determine exactly what went wrong on February 1st, 1991 as well as the workload experienced
by both pilots and controllers. The captain and crew of USA 1493 were fully qualified and fully
staffed for the flight. Witnesses who saw the crew beforehand stated that they appeared to be well
rested. The exact same was true for Skywest 5569. The controller for 1493 and 5569 had a total

I believe the author of this article, Kenneth Chang did a mighty fine job. Mr. Chang presented
his information on the research that is being done at Carnegie institution of science quite well
he explained what a diamond anvil is and how it is built and shaped. He covered the experiment
which was the compression of silicon and sodium into a material that can absorb photons from
sunlight and also other experiments that were being conducted as in the compression of iron,
oxygen, and hydrogen and what they become after being compressed under high pressure by a
diamond anvil and a couple other things as well. But something I don t quite understand is, how
does the compression of materials for instance like silicon and sodium alter the formation of the
molecule, creating a different formation that allows the material do something that it wasn t able
to do before? How can you create a material that is consisting of silicon and sodium that actually
allows photons from sunlight in? To me that seems impossible. Because Silicon is a solid and a
metalloid and sodium in an alkali metal but knowing that sodium is a good conductor of energy; it
sort of makes sense why. But still to me it doesn t make sense how combining these two elements
could create a new structure that has the possibility to absorb sunlight. Within our general chemistry
class we ve

When The Wolves Came In The Gettin Analysis
Constant separation and tension between blacks and whites is at the forefront of Kyle Abraham s
When the Wolves Came In. Performed first in 2015, the piece consists of three narratives including
When the Wolves Came In, Hallowed, and The Gettin . This reflection and interpretation will be
solely based on the third installment of the piece. The Gettin brings racial issues into view through
the different interactions between each performer and through dancer and background projection
relations. The relationship and mood between each performer depending on the others race is
extremely prevalent throughout The Gettin . For many portions of the choreography, specifically,
when the stage is made up of only African Americans the mood is much more positive and happy.
For example, during one of the scenes mid way through When the Wolves Came In, the stage is
accompanied by two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

begin running in circles facing one another. As they circle one another, they take turns not with
punches, but with dance moves. They run across the stage separated with subtle arm and shoulder
movements that then transform into larger full arm lifts and quick spins. They proceed to perform
the same motions and moves taking small breaks in between each set of to stare down one another.
At one point they come together center stage and perform contact improvisation. The white male
pressed his head into the side of the black man affecting his movement as they slowly come to their
feet. All while, the background music supports this idea of tension between the two with soft yet
powerful drum beats, light snares, and the sound of a woman softly wailing in pain. All of these
movements, interactions, and sounds complete a mood of separation, pain, and

  • 4. Science Vs. Religion In Apocalyptic Science Fiction One of the many prevalent themes in Apocalyptic Science Fiction is the ongoing presence of science vs. religion. The debate between the two has been studied among society for many years. Though I would argue that this was not always the case. The debate between science and religion began to take place once society began to advance. Moreover when the separation of church and state was accepted. This paper will critically analyse the relationship of sciencevs. religion. Furthermore, study the presence of this relationship in the following examples; Planet of the Apes, The Machine Stops, and I am Legend. The role of religion is very deeply rooted within our society. Once religion was given the freedom of practice for most countries and its separation in governing bodies, many things changed. Social, political, and cultural values had shifted creating a period with new ideas and new ways of looking at things. Science began to emerge in this period. Man strived to discover the unknown. • 6. Short Story Of Neemecia Ever since childhood I have always desired something different every day, week, month, and year. It did not have to be a tangible object necessarily, often it was something of the intangible variety: fulfillment, understanding, trust, or even love. One time when I was having a meltdown, as all children do from time to time, my father simply asked why I was acting the way I was. My response was more sobbing and incoherent muttering, at the time I had no idea why I was really crying, I just knew that there was a lot of things going on around me at the the time that I was confused about. I now realize I was in despair because I had needed some form of understanding, some sliver of comprehension that I was only a second grader and as such could not do everything that my thirteen year old could do, such as; stay up past eight, drink full cups of milk instead of half cups, or watch the really cool looking movies, Now I still desire these things just in a different form. The age of an individual has an immense impact on how one feels about their desires, desires that make us who we are yet still promote strife. In the short story Nemecia, by Kristin Valdez Quade, a superb writer who is renown for her work in short stories, one can draw the conclusion that as the protagonist, Maria, comes of age, her order of priorities develop and intensify based off of her circumstances. As the story progresses we see how the most intimate desires of a little girl develop with her until she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Great Wave Off Kanagawa Analysis The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai is an important piece in the history of Japanese art because it illustrates how native Japanese aesthetics and beliefs continue to thrive in its own art, despite new, foreign influences and changing trends in what is deemed as beautiful. Similar to many other landscape woodblock prints, it demonstrates an influence from the west with its ability to produce a sense of realism, space, and depth. Such an influence, however, does not dominate over the native Japanese aesthetics, but is incorporated with them instead. One example is how the composition appears to be more heavily weighted on the left hand side due to the large size of the cresting wave. The sense of asymmetry has its roots since ancient ... REM sleep, or rapid eye movement sleep is the final stage of sleep reached in a normal sleep cycle. To better understand this cycle of sleep scientists have used an electroencephalogram to measure brain waves during sleep. A normal sleep cycle consists of five distinct stages with paradoxical, or REM stage being the final stage. REM sleep is what is commonly known as deep sleep. There are many other causes of Insomnia such as the many environmental causes said by Ernest Hartmann s The Sleeping Pill (1978). Hartmann states, quot;any loud noise or sounds that can irritate or aggravate can disrupt a persons sleep quot; (p. 116). When trying to sleep, the littlest things can bother someone s sleep whether hearing the bathroom water faucet dripping or even the heater coming on during the night. All these things can keep a person up all night when they are suffering from insomnia. He also claims, quot;there is a condition sometimes called habit insomnia quot; (p. 116). • 15. Monteverdi As An Epic Poem Analysis Composing an opera seems like a daunting task, now imagine trying to take an Epic Poem and make it into an opera, it seems almost like an ultimate challenge; a challenge only few would take on. One of the most famous composers who took on this challenge was Claudio Giovanni Antonio Monteverdi famously known only as Monteverdi, was one of the greatest composers of his time and he was able to bring classical Greek Epic Poems to life. Even though Monteverdi was one of the greatest composers of his times it must have been very daunting challenge to take a story that had been only really heard and written down almost from interpretation from the Greeks and turn it into an Italian Opera. Another challenge he may have faced was condensing the long Epic Poem so that the audience could sit through the opera and still get the most important points of the Epic Poem. One of biggest problems Monteverdi must have encountered was when he first began to compose the story of Ulysses there was the challenge that it was in a completely different language. Homer wrote the Odysseyin Greek and Monteverdi was Italian, to add to this the Greek Homer wrote the story in was completely different from the Greek that the native people spoke. Even though the Odyssey was already being translated, no one really knew how to translate Greek; it had been a langue that basically disappeared for some time. This could have mean that some of the story could have literally been lost in translation, or the Italian scholars could have added even some parts of the story accidently due to misinterpretation. Monteverdi being one the greatest composers would have had to study the story of Ulysses and known the story thoroughly no matter what translation he may have read or heard. Knowing the plot of the story he would then have to match musical pieces to each of the characters, and there were many characters in this Epic Poem, who were fundamental to this opera even more difficult to compose. Not only did Monteverdi have to face a language barrier but also, he then had to keep in mind each character Homer wrote about. Homer incorporated many people into the Odyssey, including characters from his past works as well as the gods as they played a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abstract A paradigm for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel modeling demands diversity technique to compensate the effects of fading and shadowing. In this paper, error performance of MIMO system is analyzed with orthogonal space time block code (OSTBC) and maximal ratio combining (MRC) techniques over Weibull gamma (WG) fading channel. WG distribution forms a composite channel model which is used to determine the effects of multipath as well as shadowing. Closed form expressions for symbol error rate (SER) are computed for MIMO systems using OSTBC and MRC in this scenario. Consequently, the effects of fading severity by varying shape parameters are also shown by simulation and analytical results. Introduction In the present wireless systems, the demand of proliferation of bandwidth for high data rate and reliable communication requirement is increasing. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems are investigated to achieve these requirements. Also, diversity techniques are recommended to increase the reliability of system. Though the autobiography captures copious personal struggles and internal conflicts, the elements of the text that truly stand out are the cultural ones these being the elements of society, religion, and politics. The most prevalent of these cultural elements, and the first one introduced to the reader, is the social element. I ve seen several of his books at local book stores, as well as different television shows featuring his work. The purpose of Michael Pollen s article was to educate himself and others on the process of producing industrial steak in America, and making a financial profit along the way. He felt that Ignorance was no longer tenable. In doing so, Michael decided to purchase an 8 month old calf numbered 534 for $598. This totaled $1.60 a day for room and board due to the cattle not being weaned yet. Michael also learned the importance of calf s living on the grass instead of factory farms. Cattle living on farm land had fewer diseases, ate naturally, and had no use for medications. Cows are useful in helping to prevent trees and shrubs from gaining a foothold as well as spreading grass seeds by planting them with their hoofs and fertilizing it. The most important lesson I think is that cows have rumens. The function of a rumen is the ability to convert grass into protein. Humans don t have the ability to do this as Michael found out. Each person can respond to racism in very different ways, while some may be motivated by it others may be harmed by it. In the essays My Vassar CollegeID Makes Everything Okay by Kiese Laymon and The Meaning of Serena Williamsby Claudia Rankine, the authors analyze how people react to racismin their lives. Along with the analysis, both authors also looks at how those perpetrating racism react to the effects of it. In My Vassar College ID Makes Everything Okay by Kiese Laymon, Laymon evaluates how the racism in both his and college students lives have influenced them, while The Meaning of Serena Williams by Claudia Rankine mainly focuses on how racism affects Serena Williams. When comparing these two groups of people, the extremely wealthy or famous and all the other African Americans, we can definitely see some glaring differences the reaction to racism in their lives. While both these groups of people experience racism throughout their lives, the nature of this racism is fundamentally different due to how each group reacts to it, how it influenced their lives, and who instigates this racism towards them. Well, in the novel Hope Was Here by Joan Bauer many of the characters go through tremendous obstacles in their life but eventually overcome them. Examples like Hope and Addie are characters in the novel that faced struggles but both found ways to overcome them. Their struggles can even be personally related to my life. While many people see an obstacle and run, Hope and Addie find there ways to overcome them, and even if things do not always go as planned, things always turn out for the better. Hope was a character in the novel Hope Was Here who showed struggles throughout the book and overcame them. She struggled because she lived her life with a mother who was barely with her and a father who was unknown to both Hope and her mother (Bauer 6,59). She overcame her struggle with her mom never being there by just accepting that she wasn t the right person to be a mother and that she would not be around much. Hope knew she would have to get used to Addie being the mother figure in her life which was not a big challenge for her. Overcoming the absence of her father was harder for Hope then overcoming her struggles with her mom. There have been many theories answering that one question and few are right and some still have to be proven. People aging isn t magical, aging is scientific. Chemistry is behind aging. The first theory is that we live as long as we do because our genes determine how long we live. This means that we have a gene that tells our body how long we have to live. If this is true we could change that gene and live longer than predetermined. For example that gene is a timer that is counting down, imagine you could add time to the timer prolonging the time left. Different animals have proven this theory to work. A type of worm can to 300 years old, which could support the first theory that genes determine your lifespan. It is my job to change this social issue that has become a major problem on campus. The first step I am going to take is make awareness of developing and enforcing alcohol campus policies. Colleges and universities are mandated by the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989 to put into practice a program to prevent the use of illicit drugs and the abuse of alcohol by students. But the following two consideration indicate that the unique baptism of the Holy Spirit which accompanied the apostle s ministry is not normative for the Lord s church. в—Џ First, not everyone who was baptized (with water) later received the baptism of the Spirit. In fact, of the (at least) nine occurrences of water baptism in the book of Acts, two are followed by the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and one is preceded by the Holy Spirit precedes baptism by water (Acts 10). Pentecost is a unique instance where three thousand are baptized with water after the Apostles were baptized by the Holy Spirit. So we see that already in the book of Acts that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is not the normal and regular form of baptism. On the other hand, every convert to the Holy Church in Acts is baptized with water. This is why the church has taught that the baptism of water in the name of the Holy Trinity is a sacrament which works faith and gives the forgiveness of all sin, while the unique baptism of the Holy Spirit is not a sacrament, but a sign of the unique office of Jesus (ascended to the right hand of God) and of the apostles (sent by Jesus to teach His Word). в—Џ Second, as just mentioned, the signs that accompanied Jesus ministry also accompany the apostolic preaching, showing that their word was pure. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe the author of this article, Kenneth Chang did a mighty fine job. Mr. Chang presented his information on the research that is being done at Carnegie institution of science quite well he explained what a diamond anvil is and how it is built and shaped. He covered the experiment which was the compression of silicon and sodium into a material that can absorb photons from sunlight and also other experiments that were being conducted as in the compression of iron, oxygen, and hydrogen and what they become after being compressed under high pressure by a diamond anvil and a couple other things as well. But something I don t quite understand is, how does the compression of materials for instance like silicon and sodium alter the formation of the molecule, creating a different formation that allows the material do something that it wasn t able to do before? How can you create a material that is consisting of silicon and sodium that actually allows photons from sunlight in? To me that seems impossible. Because Silicon is a solid and a metalloid and sodium in an alkali metal but knowing that sodium is a good conductor of energy; it sort of makes sense why. But still to me it doesn t make sense how combining these two elements could create a new structure that has the possibility to absorb sunlight. Within our general chemistry class we ve ... Performed first in 2015, the piece consists of three narratives including When the Wolves Came In, Hallowed, and The Gettin . This reflection and interpretation will be solely based on the third installment of the piece. The Gettin brings racial issues into view through the different interactions between each performer and through dancer and background projection relations. The relationship and mood between each performer depending on the others race is extremely prevalent throughout The Gettin . For many portions of the choreography, specifically, when the stage is made up of only African Americans the mood is much more positive and happy. For example, during one of the scenes mid way through When the Wolves Came In, the stage is accompanied by two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scene begins with the black gentleman on the floor and the white gentleman on his knees. They begin running in circles facing one another. As they circle one another, they take turns not with punches, but with dance moves. They run across the stage separated with subtle arm and shoulder movements that then transform into larger full arm lifts and quick spins. They proceed to perform the same motions and moves taking small breaks in between each set of to stare down one another. At one point they come together center stage and perform contact improvisation. The white male pressed his head into the side of the black man affecting his movement as they slowly come to their feet. All while, the background music supports this idea of tension between the two with soft yet powerful drum beats, light snares, and the sound of a woman softly wailing in pain. All of these movements, interactions, and sounds complete a mood of separation, pain, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
