Theban Plays By Sophocles Oedipus Rex
My understanding of the culture of the Ancient Greece has drastically deepen through studying
Sophocles , The Theban Plays (Oedipus Rex). In class discussions as well as researching on my own
developed new ideas whilst expanding on pre existing ideas. I found the in class discussion to be
informative, as we explored topics on religion, effects of time and place, and correlating factors of
cultures. The class debated whether the emphasis of gods as truth seers had any relation in whatever
shape or form to how gods are perceived as nowadays. We concluded that religion can be seen a broad
spectrum in which different people follow. Different religions provide a vast amount of beliefs and
rules to follow, however from past experience many people

Biological Foundations Of Personality
Biological Foundations of Personality Aside from the common differences that can be seen from a
distance without actually communicating or interacting with someone, such as the color of their skin,
there are many other attributes that sets people apart. There are distinct differences in the way people
think, feel, and behave; commonly referred to as personality. Various factors determine the persona of
individuals. Some of these factors include the neural systems and distinctive genes. This paper looks
at how genetic factors of people and their neural systems contribute to the personality of humans. The
study of the relationship between behavior and genes by different psychologists shed light on the links
that exist between personality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The areas and pathways within one s brain determines their neural system. It is believed that the
personality of an individual can be traced back to the structures of the brain and neural mechanisms.
Some of these include, serotonin and dopamine pathways (Boundless, 2016). Biological perspectives
are used by researchers to determine how hormones, neurotransmitters, and the different parts of the
brain team up or interact to bring out the personality of an individual. One of the best case studies to
affirm this theory is that of Phineas Gage. In 1858, Gage, a blasting foreman, was working on the
railroad when one railroad spike, caused by a faulty blast, blew through his head (Boundless, 2016).
Though Gage survived the accident, there were major consequences of this

different types of communication systems used in a military for locating enemy s weapons, tracking
their fire and destroy it in Air, keeping eyes on enemy s movements, messaging to each other etc. In

III. CLASSIFICATION OF MILITARY COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS
A. Weapon Locating Radar(WLR)
Weapon Locating Radars are generally used for detecting and locating enemies Artillery units by
tracking the trajectory of incoming shells and rounds. These Radars can also provide fire correction to
the friendly artillery units. Weapon locating radar is also able to track unguided missiles and mortar
shells fired by enemy. The concept behind this radar is to estimate the distance of shell by calculating
time difference and angular resolution between two consecutive waves received. Some Indian weapon

Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever
Ebola, once transmitted to a human is referred as Ebola hemorrhagic fever, is an uncommon viral
infection that deliberately targets every part of the human body with the exception of the skeletal
system. When this lethal disease enters the host, it will first cause pain throughout the body and
dramatically increase the body s temperature. Next, internal and external bleeding tends to occur,
specifically form the face. After that, it will simply destroy the bodily tissue that holds the host s
organs together. Aside from this, what the virus actually does and how it is transmitted, little to
nothing is known due to the complex structure of the infectious disease, as there are five identified
Ebola virus species. Four of the five affect humans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, that is more than likely the reason they are having these outbreaks. The use proper
technology plays a key role in containing and ending of the any disease and since these areas lack

will ultimately stunt the technological grow of countries that have been heavily hit with the epidemic.
Also, the lack of general medical knowledge, such as common hygiene, in these states only severed as
a catalyst for the virus to spread. Another factor for those lives in these palaces is that unless one live
in close proximity to his or her family the chances that they will be able to see one another are very
slim. These restrains have lead to geographical issues as well. For instance, the land in each of the

grow crop. This as resulted in some farmer having been forced to over use their land and not allow for
proper crop rotations as well trying hard to grow certain heathery crops in more harsh

Convicts In America Essay
The transportation system that brought convicts into America was born out of new types and record
levels of crime in England. (pg. 6) The crowded streets and overcrowding of the cities added to the
increase in crime. England s law enforcement and criminal justice system were ill equipped to handle
the dramatic increase in crimes committed in the city. The English penal system was in such a state of
instability that new solutions had to be found for the increasing numbers of felons. The city jails were
so unhealthy and disease ridden, that many inmates died. The localities also lacked sufficient funds to
care for the convicts in the already overcrowded prisons. Instead of spending money for more jails in

A Brief Note On The And Its Effect On The Environment
䀀䀀tricity is one of the most widely used forms of energy. Electricity is referred to as an energy
carrier, which means the electricity comes from the conversion of other sources of energy. Energy
sources used to make electricity are either renewable or non renewable, but electricity itself is neither
renewable nor nonrenewable. Electricity is measured in watts and kilowatts. One watt is a very small
amount of power, for example, it would require nearly 750 watts to equal one horsepower. One way to
produce electricity is by battery. A battery will produce electricity by using two different metals in a
chemical solution. One end of the battery will be attached to one of the metals; the other end to the
other metal. A device that does work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

many and which batteries we will need to meet our power needs. Table 1 shows the power needs of
each group member according to the electric bill. We obtain these values multiplying the kilowatts
hours per day rating by 1000 to convert to watts hour per day. In addition, it shows the total capacity
for all our batteries put together that will meet our power needs, which is the capacity of the needed
bank. This is calculated in amp hours. The last column shows the amount of batteries needed to meet
our energy storage needs. Table 1. Group members Wh/day Capacity of battery bank (AmpHrs)

Military Discrimination against Homosexuals Essay
Homosexuals, bisexuals and lesbians were a condemned lot not allowed to serve in the United States
military service including the Navy forces. Service men and women in the military were judged not
only with reference to their behavioral conduct but also from their sexual orientation results. The
Department of Defense (DOD) would ask questions concerning sexual orientation of prospects willing
to join the military service. A sexual orientation related to sexual attraction to people of a particular
gender. Even members of the military service were not allowed to make any statement that meant they
(he or she) were homosexuals. Language was highly targeted since the passing of the act of language

Before this, any form of lesbianism; bisexual behavior, gay and homosexuality in general were not
tolerated in the military. In the year 1993, President Bill Clinton passed an interim compromise that
gave the Department of Defense an opportunity to review the issue of sexual orientation in the
military. The Department of Defense was reviewing the ban and come up with analysis that would end
and prevent discrimination of prospective members of the military by looking at or/and asking them
questions on sexual orientation. In the year 1993 after the review was made, the staff gave in to the
suggestion made on ending discrimination with regard to sexual orientation. The Chief of staff agreed
with Bill Clinton to remove any question concerning sexual orientation that was included in the
application list that recruited military servants. This issue was very serious and required a lot of
attention such that in the same year, Armed House Senate Congress (SASC) had extensive hearings on
the issue of discrimination of homosexuals. Finally, they came up with an approach described as Don t
Ask Don t Tell . Under the Don t Ask Don t Tell approach the Department of Defense were not

`` Brave New World Of Digital Intimacy `` And Mark Twain...
Humanity started as small tribes of people working together and benefiting each other, with each
member having a clear identity that complements the other small group members. The advancement of
civilization threatened this identity. Soon, hordes of people living together in cities, towns, and
countries drowned out individual voices and opinions, causing people to lose a sense of identity.
While it may be hard to maintain a sense of identity in a crowd, society offers many hidden benefits
that can counterbalance the struggles of identity. Two readings, Clive Thompson s Brave New World
of Digital Intimacy and Mark Twain s The Dairies of Adam and Eve show how society and sharing the
Good life can benefit the individual overall, and might even help an individual find their own identity.
In Mark Twain s The Diaries of Adam and Eve, Adam first struggled with the existence of his new life
partner Eve. He hated the fact that he never had alone time, and the fact that Eve was starting to name
all the animals in the garden. Matters worsened when they had kids. However, near the end of the
reading, Adam begun to realize that Eve enriched his life in a way that he never knew before. Adam,
in return, also enriched Eve s life. The two found happiness together where they normally would not
find it alone. The pair s relationship shows the core idea of forsaking solitude and peace for something
more, the companionship and joy of others.

In 1879 Armstrong asked him to return to Hampton Institute as a teacher. Washington did so, and then
in 1881 Armstrong recommended him as the principal of a new school called Tuskegee Institute in
Tuskegee, Alabama. July 4, 1881 was the first day of school at Tuskegee Institute. It was a humble
beginning, but under Washington s care both the school and Washington grew to be world famous. His
school made lasting and profound contributions to the South and to the United States such as through
the work of one of its teachers George Washington Carver.
One of his main problems was always finding enough money. The support he received from the state
was neither generous nor stable enough to build the kind of school he was developing. So he had to
raise the money himself by going on speaking tours and solicitating donations. He received a lot of
money from white northerners who were impressed with the work he was doing and his non
threatening racial views. Industrialists like Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller would donate
money on a regular basis. It was these non threatening racial views that gave Washington the
appellation quot; The Great Accomodater quot;. He believed that blacks should not push to attain equal
civil and political rights with whites. Eventually they would earn the respect and love of the white
man, and civil and political rights would be accrued as a matter of course.

Name Of Identity
Everyone has an identity which is shaped by both religious, racial, or cultural affiliations, and present
day society. Amin Maalouf discusses this, calming the first group as being a vertical heritage and the
latter being a horizontal heritage. Though he clearly states that vertical heritage, cultural and religion,
are crucial, Maalouf believes that people are more influenced by society; their horizontal heritage. He
argues the fact that we may have our different vertical heritage, but we depend on our horizontal one
to live day to day.
The excerpt is displaying the fact that individual are most influenced by their surroundings. Races are
coming together and cultures are being intertwined but people still claim to be part of certain groups.
Maalouf claim is interesting when he gives light to ...the gulf that exists between what we are and
what we think we are (In the Name of Identity). This is significant because Maalouf is trying to say
that we keep in mind that we are part of this race or that sector of society, but we, as individuals,

ways of society. I wear a scarf, covering my hair, even though it is not the social norm. Whenever
anyone asks what my nationality is, I always have the tendency to say Pakistani even though I am an

Quantitative Thinking In The Workplace
Part 1
Significance of quantitative thinking in work place
For accountability measures, an individual is necessitated to acquire quantitative thinking. This a good
process that helps in decision making when dealing with critical issues in workplaces for it; helps one
to interpret the models that deal with mathematics like tables, formulas, schemes, graphs and they help
to draw inferences from the models, it helps a quant to realize that there is a limit with mathematical
methods as well statistical methods and it provides several ways to solve the problems like geometric,
statistical and algebra.

It provides a wide look at things and gets a more and accurate understanding on the ongoing event. At
most time, misinterpretation of statistical data causes wrong results (Blanche, 2011). Some of data
(statistic data) may be biased in relation to opinion despite the misconception that statistics displays a
true measure regarding certain research. Not all the statistical numerals that the person analyzing data
can be able to notice, lack of further explanation can lead to misinterpretation of data thus wrong
decision making. Also bad sampling can too lead to misinterpretation of data for most samples assume
that the whole population possesses the same characteristics as the sample. At the other hand use of
definitional terms that are not in relation to the information being used can lead too to
misinterpretation of statistical data. This has been seen most in elections where there is miscounted
statistical data that results to false election.

stared at the men with black bead like eyes. At these times they were uncanny and sinister in their

Definition Of Sanctity Of Human Life
Definition:
Sanctity of human life refers to the fact that human life, due to the fact that humans are created in the
image of God and share His likeness, is valued over the lives of plants and animals. Unlike plants and
animals, God blessed us with the ability to experience and convey emotion. Humans also can be saved
by the blood of Jesus Christ or condemned to hell if they choose not to accept Christ. Man is the only
being created in the image of God, therefore having the aforementioned blessings of emotion and
salvation, making man so much more important. When people ignore this fundamental and necessary
sanctity of life, terrible things like abortion and mass shootings occur.
History:
A biblical example of a violation of the sanctity of human life is in Genesis 4, the story of Cain and
Abel. Cain violated the sanctity of human life and killed his own brother simply because Abel s
sacrifice was accepted by God, but Cain s was not. Cain did not give his best to God in the offering,
but instead of dealing with his own shortcomings with God, he murdered his brother out of anger and
jealousy. By not fixing his own heart issue, he committed a vile sin that would forever shape his own
life and the life of his descendents. There are many modern examples of this disregard for the value of
life, such as: abortion, mass shootings, suicides, and suicide bombers. One major example is the recent
Los Vegas shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival where 59 people were killed and at

The poem being analyzed is entitled, I Go Back to May 1973 by Sharon Olds. In the beginning of the
poem, the image of innocence is lost but as the reader goes deeper into the heart and core of the text,
the tone rapidly spirals into violence as well as resentment. I m assuming that the author of the poem,
Sharon Olds, is the narrator of this literary text. Sharon starts by reflecting her life story. She tells the
tale of the beginning of her parent s relationship as two fresh college graduates who venture into the

Ancient Greek Architecture And Its Influence On Architecture
Architecture is art in the form of building structures, and can have both practical and symbolic
purposes. It is, however, much more than just building or just art. The architecture of a civilization
speaks of its people and their story, emphasizes their values, and announces their greatness. A
structure whose architect was inspired by other cultures not only tells of its own civilization, history,

The team culture can become negative when one or more of the employees does not have the same
values, work ethic, and personality. This brings me back to the human resource department who has
the sole responsibility of determining candidates who will fit well with the organizational and team
cultures, which includes the emotional intelligence and motivating factors of the candidate (Bethel
University, 2011). I feel it is really important for a person to understand their own emotional
intelligence and even more so for managers to understand and be able to identify their employees
emotional intelligence. Now, companies hire motivational speakers and testing firms to teach and
identify employees who meet a certain criteria in whom the company can invest in; moreover to create
leaders and better overall performance. The knowledge of emotional intelligence will assist all levels
or managers in motivating his/her team(s) to achieve a higher level of success. However, when
negative motivation is applied and is comes across as demeaning, the employees may feel fearful,

Mr. Williams And The Music Of Music And Film
John Williams once said so much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by
ourselves, so it s gratifying to have something you have done linger in people s memories and linger it
did. Mr. Williams has made significant contributions to the arts of music and film. To fully understand
the gravity of his achievements and their affect on humanity, we must first look at the progression of
sound in film; the effect music has in film and its audience; and lastly his accomplishments of music
and film.
In the infancy of film, movies were silent but not without sound. To make film a more pleasant
experience, music was provided to cover up the ambient noise of the projector and help create an
agreeable atmosphere, often by the use of a solo piano. (Fischoff, S. (2005)). The musician generally
improvised playing mostly a variety of popular romantic and melodramatic scores of the late
nineteenth century (such as William Tell Overture, Ride of the Valkyrie, Les Preludes, etc.) as long as
it accompanied the action/scene or enhanced the mood (for dramatic effect). ( From Scene to Shining
Screen: A Short History of Film Music . para. 1 2. (n.d.)). As film grew in popularity and length, so

Research Essay on Southeast Asia
IH202: Southeast Asia: The Rice that Binds? Research Essay (10%) The definition of the phrase
Settlement pattern is associated with the understanding of how a particular society used the available
resources in its region. The phrase can also be described as the actual land upon which a settlement is
built. So what exactly is the pattern of settlements in Southeast Asia? Some say that the pattern of
human settlement in Southeast Asia is dispersed settlements where buildings are spread out; an
example would be the rural areas of Philippines, where different villages are at different parts of the
country. Others say that it s more like linear settlements that grow in a line, often alongside roads,
river valleys or the coast, for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This not only makes similar settlers more comfortable to fit in but it also makes the community more
bonded. Climate also affects settlement patterns in numerous ways. Colder countries tend to have
lesser population than warmer countries. For example, Alaska has the smallest population in the
United States. Extreme climate conditions may play a role too, Sometimes it is even impossible to
inhabit that area, due to the weather conditions. A land s geographical location can determine whether
an area has higher risk of experiencing an earthquake or not. Singapore is considered very blessed as
her geographical location is very well shielded by other larger countries like Malaysia and Indonesia.
Furthermore, we do not sit on the earthquake belt. However Japan and Indonesia are less fortunate, as
they are located right on the earthquake belt and are constantly experiencing earthquake every now
and then. If your settlement is located nearby to a river, there will be a reliable source of food and
transportation which adds to the land s desirability. Some people are drawn to coastal areas as these
areas offer a number of recreational activities, such as surfing or wakeboarding and access to water
transportation. Maybe they also appreciate the value of waterfront property. In this essay, I have come
to the conclusion that Southeast Asia has more than one pattern of settlements. Instead, it has three,
namely, the dispersal settlement, the linear settlement and the nucleated

The Sniper Short Story Analysis
The Sniper
By: Liam O Flaherty
The Sniper , the author creates suspense by having an increase in pacing, through the words in the
story, decreasing/slowing down is used through words like still, and paused Finally, he creates
suspense by having back to back rapid conflicts, The suspense is created by Liam O Flaherty, who is
the author of this short story suspense.
Throughout this story you re faced with feelings of anticipation, suspense, and you may even appear
to be solicitous. Showing empathy, and being held on the edge of your seat throughout each
captivating paragraph, is common in this particular story.
The first paragraphs you are brought to have a sense of what some view as slow, and/or boring , since
it doesn t have much going on right off of the bat, you start off with a suspenseful introduction, by the
author giving you what is perceived to be as a gloomy/muggy setting. You are brought to a theme with
an increasing pace also included in the first paragraph with a small excerpt of Here and there through
the city, machine guns and rifles broke the silence of the night, spasmodically, like dogs barking on
lone farms. Republicans and Free States were waging civil war. (O Flaherty 1)
Increasing pace is shown and supported throughout this story by the sniper running into suspense and
hardships in an orderly way, which creates a feeling/emotion of what is known to be suspense. We are
able to see what he sees and feel what he has felt. We enter this psychologically thriller by the authors
ability to grab you, and hold you captive in your own mind with his words.
Decreasing pace is developed by the mood being slow and gloomy at times. It slowly yet surely leads
into conflict over and over. For example Placing a cigarette between his lips, he struck a match,
inhaled the smoke hurriedly and put out the light. Almost immediately, a bullet flattened itself against
the parapet of the roof. The sniper took another whiff and put out the cigarette. Then he swore softly
and crawled away to the left. (O Flaherty 1)
Timing in this short story makes this story suspenseful, with the words he uses and where he places
them, he keeps his readers drawn in with the lacking of dull moments. You are

Analysis Of `` On Political Labels `` By Christopher...
On Political Labels by Christopher Borick and Four Words That Will Decide the Election by David
Green both deal with how language is used in politics. Borick s essay is a more historical and
informative of the origins of political language and key words, while Green s essay is a game plan for
the Democrats to defeat the Republicans by using their own rhetoric against them. David Green makes
great points in his essay, but because of his left wing bias and his overall view of Republicans being
almost idiots discredit his essay. This is because of the multiple schools of thought that aren t taken
into account for in his essay. Borick s historical analysis of political terms gives the reader a greater
understanding on the rebuttals the Democrats and Republicans can use, but his overall naïve tone on
politics today makes his essay almost utopian or unrealistic. Since both essays were written before the
2012 election, they have some outdated views because of our current changing political climate. The
current political climate has made the Democratic Party is leaning more European Socialist, while the
Republican Party is being dominated by any reactionary movement that is prides itself on nationalism
and anti immigration rhetoric. On Political Labels explains the evolution of the words: liberal and
conservative. He goes into detail that back in the 19th century and early 20th century a liberal was one

Code Of Chivalry Essay
The Code of Chivalry, though never truly being set in stone or truly documented, played a large role in
shaping medieval society and literature. Though the basis of this code seems to be rooted more so in
fantasy and fiction of the age, we need to take a glance and consider just how much sway the code
held in the medieval era. The code of chivalry has its roots in feudalism, the common theme of the
feudalistic era, as quoted by many a historian is the idea of those who work, those who fight, and
those who pray as the main element of that era. The fighting class, or rather vassals and knights,
developed a code of conduct that became the essence of good behavior or how one should act in
respect to not only their lords, but everyone in society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As most things go through a transformation, society was changing and shifting into a new world
where the primary goal of the age was how to be the most pious. While Christian elements were
always intertwined into chivalric code (one of the traits of the code oft being piety ), the code truly
developed into a more Christianized standard as a reaction to society s big shift to a more Christian
world. As time went on, the church began extending its power and rule across Europe, the Pope began
to have more power than ever, most often than not excommunicating secular leaders who didn t agree
with him, such as the case of Pope Gregory VII and Holy Roman Emperor Henry VI. As well as Pope
Urban II s speech at Clermont urging those to go partake in what would be known as the Crusades, to
regain their holy land. These establishments of power began to blur the lines between the secular
world and the church, easily creating a blend of both for a few centuries to come. We see this become
especially evident in the post Crusade era during the medieval ages, religion was integral to society
and being a citizen was almost synonymous with being

Legal tender is a average of wage recognized by a legal rule to be authentic for accomplishing a

government does not let up on the debt responsibility until payment is enlisted. Why do prices change
and why does the Fed aim for a 2% inflation rate?
Prices change because of the economy. Inflation is represented as a rise in the general price level. For
example, prices of many goods and services such as housing, apparel, food, transportation, and fuel
must be increasing in order for inflation to occur in the overall economy. If prices of just a few types
of goods or services are growing, there isn t necessarily inflation. Demand Pull Inflation and Cost

High School Dropouts Is An Issue Today s Society
The purpose of this proposal is to let people know that high school dropouts is an issue in today s
society. At the present time, every year 1.2 million students drop out of high school. The average age
that students dropout is between sixteen and twenty four years. Students drop out because of either
personal factors, family factors, and community factors or all of the above. Drop out students should
be encouraged to finish high school because non graduates fail to succeed in life. First of all, High
school dropouts is an issue occurring since a very long time ago because it has been proven that many
students are unsuccessful after dropping out of high school. As mentioned before, every year over 1.2
million students drop out of high school. As Richmond mentions, an estimated 1 million students will
fail to graduate this year, a loss of 5,500 students for every day on the academic calendar (Richmond
1). This is a big quantity of students who will have no education guidance into their future. Texas is
one of the top three states with higher dropout rates along with California and Florida. Also, there is
no rate difference between genders just that boys and girls dropout for different reasons. Although,
people will say that this issue does not affect them particularly, these dropout students will affect our
economy in the future. As Lynch states, The financial ramifications of dropping out of high school

any covert action carried out by the U.S. government. However, as one can tell by the provided covert

Additionally, an example of one of the forms of covert action will be provided. Political propaganda is
one form of covert action. The intent of political propaganda is to influence a nations citizens

Clyne s Revision of Grice s Maxims Essay
Grice s Maxims have been criticised for being too Anglo centric. Michael Clyne proposes revisions to
the four maxims in his 1994 book Intercultural Communication at Work. Do Clyne s revisions of this
model go far enough in universally accounting for intercultural conversation? Why or why not? Grice
s General Cooperative Principle has been under continuous debate for the past three decades. It is
mainly through the maxims that Grice s paradigm has been challenged as highly ethnocentric,
however such readings may tend to take the maxims too literally rather than as reference points for
language interchange (Allan as cited in Clyne, 1994, p. 11). There is some agreement in this, but as
suggested by Mey (1994, p. 74), the principle and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In such cases, there is a clash between Grice s maxims and the pragmatic rules of conversation, which
are culturally sensitive. For example, when being offered a drink, a typical Chinese person would
automatically say no the first time, while expecting the offer to be made at least two or three times
more. This resembles a kind of phatic language communication; saying no, but not really meaning no.
In this sort of situation, if someone doesn t adhere to the cultural norm choosing to follow Grice s
maxims instead, then they would sound odd and out of place. The above example demonstrates that
Grice s maxims aren t relevant in all contexts as they clash with certain cultural values systems. Many
linguists (Clyne, 1994; Hymes, 1986; Loveday, 1983; Walsh, 2009) have picked up on this
discrepancy between theory and data, claiming that the maxims are only relevant to the English
speaking Western world. In particular, Clyne (1994) has pointed out that they have limited relevance
to cultures where content and knowledge are core values. For example, speakers of Malagasy, whose
form of co operation seems to consist in making their contributions as opaque, convoluted and non
perspicuous as possible (Keenan as cited in Mey, 1994, p. 74) could be seen as flouting the Maxim of
Quantity. This is because information, especially new information gives the holder a certain amount of
prestige, thus Malagasy people tend to

Social Media And Self-Esteem
Social media plays an important role in the lives of teenagers and potentially young women. It can
actually be a big influencer on their decisions being as it s a place to express yourself in many ways
even if those ways put off negative connotations to those around. Daily on social media you typically
see a lot of ads, people who you might perceive as beautiful or pretty , along with statuses and pictures
that talk about how the perfect relationship or person should be. As a teenager myself, I recognize that
a lot of young girls struggle with finding themselves and wanting to be different. Females in general
have a hard time This current generation of teenagers are more concerned with social media sites like
facebook, instagram, twitter, and snapchat. More people are concerned with the number of likes or
favorites they get rather than actual important or real world things. For a teen that struggles with self
esteem issues, it could be confusing to see a lot of pretty girls and not know why you don t or can not
look like them. Social media when used addictively has negative or harmful effects on young girls self
esteem. Social media is also an easy place to experience cyber bullying. Typically on Facebook
cyberbullying happens by one person sharing a picture of someone else that they are trying to make
fun of.This cycle happens over and over until the picture goes viral and many people have brought
attention to it. Since social media is a way for one to express themselves, people feel justified to have
the right to share what they want on their account, even though it is hurting someone else. Recently,
Facebook changed how statuses work. If you re friends with someone, you can t just automatically
share their picture. To be able to share it, they have to make the picture public so the world can already
see it. This somewhat cuts down on how many people can see you picture but it stops the chain of
someone going viral in a bad way. Since Cyber bullying is so prevalent, the rates of teen suicide have
increased and are linked to social media. On January 22nd of this year, a sixteen year old girl took her
life and broadcasted it on Facebook live. While young Naika Venant was on her live broadcast There

Outsourcing American Jobs Hurt U.s. Economy
Outsourcing American Jobs Hurt U.S. Economy Globalization is the integration of markets through
the cooperation of internalization, federal, and state governments with corporate companies to provide
low cost products. Subsequently, outsourcing is an essential part of this globalization. However, what
exactly is outsourcing? In its broadest sense, outsourcing is simply contracting out functions that had
been done in house a longtime U.S. practice ( Globalization: Threat or Opportunity ). When a U.S.
manufacture product, and buys material from an intermediate supplier from out of the country rather
than producing them in house, that is what is called outsourcing. Also, when U.S. corporation hires
outside contractor out of the country to do U.S. call center services for less labor cost that is
outsourcing. When a company deals out its operational task, such as payroll, accounting, and software
operations that is outsourcing. To get the clear understanding of outsourcing, I have interviewed IKEA
s U.S. Deputy Retail Country Manager Rob Olson about outsourcing Swedish goods. Olson stated that
IKEA s outsourcing utilizes the unique talents of different countries and their labor markets to increase
trade, which helps better allocate resources in their own countries while getting goods cheaper from
others. Today, there are massive numbers of people who think what started as a globalized extension

One provision of the merger agreement is the no talk clause, which forbids Conrail from pursuing
merger discussions with any other party for a period of six months. This essentially forbids Conrail
from soliciting other bids. yet if another offer did emerge, the Conrail board could consider the bid

From economics perspective, once the target signs an agreement, if the target could still discuss with
other party or provide confidential information to them, the other party who might be interested could
raise a competing bid, and particularly aiming to beat current s buyer s bid. This provision reduces the

A Popular Model Designed By Bruce W. Tuckman
So what are genres? When most people are asked this question they will reply with something like
science fiction, horror, mystery, or romance. While these are not fundamentally wrong answers, those
with such responses do not understand the full breadth of what genres truly are. According to the
dictionary, a genre is a class or category of artistic endeavor having a particular form, content,
technique, or the like (Genre). Still though this does not capture the full breadth of what a genre really
is. To explain how genres form, dynamically change, and serve their purposes we must first take a step
back and look at some other fundamental concepts. A popular model designed by Bruce W. Tuckman
suggests that all groups experience five phases: forming, storming, norming, performing, and
adjourning (Gulati 439 440). At our cores, humans seek to be accepted and acknowledged by others.
We seek to form social hierarchies to find meaning the areas we are passionate about. This part of
human nature is nothing new, it is something programmed deep into our genes for millennia. It
happens before our eyes every day; sports fans meet in stadiums, video game fans meet at
conventions, artists meet at exhibitions, and so on. People of similar interest meet, one way or another,
and are drawn together by their passion. Some groups remain small friend circles, while others may
grow vastly to be composed of millions of members. These vast communities, known as discourse
communities,

The Rise Of China, Alternative Energy, And The Future Of...
The Rise of China, Alternative Energy, and the Future of Global Currency
American hegemony began with a unique economic market. The unregulated version of capitalism
employed and protected by the United States Government (USG) was developed by individual
entrepreneurs operating in the freest market in the world. They innovated petroleum refining and
business practices that are still supporting U.S. global monetary control and financial power today.
Now that humanity is making a shift away from petroleum, the same market practices used by the oil
barons of 19th century America are being applied by the solar barons of China, and the rise of a new
global hegemon is apparent, or at least widely considered possible. As global change continues to
threaten the consumption of the petroleum that keeps the U.S. in power, and the dollar that is backed
by petroleum trade, the rise of China as a provider of alternative energy and currency will soon force
the U.S. to either share its position of global leadership or compromise the peace that has been
maintained by its uncontested seat of power. Still, mutually advantageous foreign policy can be put
into place to create a duplistic monopoly of force that will maintain global stability. For the last 70
years, the U.S. dollar has been virtually unchallenged in international finance. While critics point out
that the U.S. has used its leverage to maintain a system that they call unfair, the Hegemonic Strategic
Trade Theory (HSTT)

My Grandpam My Grandma Is A Hero In My Life
In my life so far there has been one person that always supported my decisions; been warm while the
world was cold, and loving till I thought there was no love left. My grandma has been a hero in
disguise for as long as I can remember. Her creativity Inspires me, and her ability to teach others
makes me feel proud to call her my grandma. Since I was little, my grandma would babysit my sister
and I almost every weekend, making us food, playing board games, and watching movies. Spending
so much time with my grandma gave her plenty of opportunities to influence us and help us when we
needed it the most. We never thought of how lucky we were to have this figure in our lives, and how
much she impacted our futures. Creativity has been a big part of my family. Coming from a family of
musicians, craft fair workers, authors, and painters brings art to a whole new level. My grandma and I
always had an art form at all times; whether it was drawing or listening to music, it was always
present. From a young age I was taught some of my grandma s old hobbies like, basket weaving and
sewing. I still remember making my first pillow and not being able to reach the pedal to turn the
sewing machine on. I remember my grandma saying with a laugh, I ll get it. She held the pedal as
finished sewing my heart covered masterpiece. Even though at the moment I did not think it was a big
deal, but no I see it helped develop one of my hobbies. Which is upcycling. My first basket was more

The areas and pathways within one s brain determines their neural system. It is believed that the personality of an individual can be traced back to the structures of the brain and neural mechanisms. Biological perspectives are used by researchers to determine how hormones, neurotransmitters, and the different parts of the brain team up or interact to bring out the personality of an individual. One of the best case studies to affirm this theory is that of Phineas Gage. The English penal system was in such a state of instability that new solutions had to be found for the increasing numbers of felons. Table 1 shows the power needs of each group member according to the electric bill. We obtain these values multiplying the kilowatts hours per day rating by 1000 to convert to watts hour per day. • 12. `` Brave New World Of Digital Intimacy `` And Mark Twain... Humanity started as small tribes of people working together and benefiting each other, with each member having a clear identity that complements the other small group members. The advancement of civilization threatened this identity. Soon, hordes of people living together in cities, towns, and countries drowned out individual voices and opinions, causing people to lose a sense of identity. While it may be hard to maintain a sense of identity in a crowd, society offers many hidden benefits that can counterbalance the struggles of identity. Two readings, Clive Thompson s Brave New World of Digital Intimacy and Mark Twain s The Dairies of Adam and Eve show how society and sharing the Good life can benefit the individual overall, and might even help an individual find their own identity. In Mark Twain s The Diaries of Adam and Eve, Adam first struggled with the existence of his new life partner Eve. He hated the fact that he never had alone time, and the fact that Eve was starting to name all the animals in the garden. Matters worsened when they had kids. However, near the end of the reading, Adam begun to realize that Eve enriched his life in a way that he never knew before. Adam, in return, also enriched Eve s life. The two found happiness together where they normally would not find it alone. The pair s relationship shows the core idea of forsaking solitude and peace for something more, the companionship and joy of others. In the section under Ten Years Later Adam ... • 18. Definition Of Sanctity Of Human Life Definition: Sanctity of human life refers to the fact that human life, due to the fact that humans are created in the image of God and share His likeness, is valued over the lives of plants and animals. Unlike plants and animals, God blessed us with the ability to experience and convey emotion. Humans also can be saved by the blood of Jesus Christ or condemned to hell if they choose not to accept Christ. Man is the only being created in the image of God, therefore having the aforementioned blessings of emotion and salvation, making man so much more important. When people ignore this fundamental and necessary sanctity of life, terrible things like abortion and mass shootings occur. History: A biblical example of a violation of the sanctity of human life is in Genesis 4, the story of Cain and Abel. Cain violated the sanctity of human life and killed his own brother simply because Abel s sacrifice was accepted by God, but Cain s was not. Cain did not give his best to God in the offering, but instead of dealing with his own shortcomings with God, he murdered his brother out of anger and jealousy. By not fixing his own heart issue, he committed a vile sin that would forever shape his own life and the life of his descendents. Inflation is represented as a rise in the general price level. • 32. High School Dropouts Is An Issue Today s Society The purpose of this proposal is to let people know that high school dropouts is an issue in today s society. At the present time, every year 1.2 million students drop out of high school. The average age that students dropout is between sixteen and twenty four years. Students drop out because of either personal factors, family factors, and community factors or all of the above. Drop out students should be encouraged to finish high school because non graduates fail to succeed in life. First of all, High school dropouts is an issue occurring since a very long time ago because it has been proven that many students are unsuccessful after dropping out of high school. As mentioned before, every year over 1.2 million students drop out of high school. As Richmond mentions, an estimated 1 million students will fail to graduate this year, a loss of 5,500 students for every day on the academic calendar (Richmond 1). This is a big quantity of students who will have no education guidance into their future. Texas is one of the top three states with higher dropout rates along with California and Florida. Also, there is no rate difference between genders just that boys and girls dropout for different reasons. Although, people will say that this issue does not affect them particularly, these dropout students will affect our economy in the future. One of the best, and perhaps most famous, partition story clearly reveals this sense of bewilderment, Toba Tek Singh was written in Urdu, Pakistan s national language, by Sadat Hasan Manto, a Kashmiri who left his home in 1948 and moved to Karachi, Pakistan s capital. The story recounts the effects of partition on a very particular portion of the population. The 1955 short story, writen by Saadat Hasan Manto, was based on inmates of lunatic asylums being split in the wake of the Partition with Hindu and Sikh inmates being transferred to India and Muslim inmates going to Pakistan. It focused on a particular inmate, Bishan Singh. Bishan Singh is a Sikh inmate who, fifteen years earlier, had gone mad and was admitted to the asylum by his family. Everyone in the asylum called him Toba Tek Singh, the name of his village. Almost bald, his legs swollen, because he is always seen standing and occasionally leaning against the wall, he had the habit of speaking this nonsensical phrase, Uper the gur gur the annexe the bay dhayana the mung the dal of the laltain. • 36. Clyne s Revision of Grice s Maxims Essay Grice s Maxims have been criticised for being too Anglo centric. Michael Clyne proposes revisions to the four maxims in his 1994 book Intercultural Communication at Work. Do Clyne s revisions of this model go far enough in universally accounting for intercultural conversation? Why or why not? Grice s General Cooperative Principle has been under continuous debate for the past three decades. It is mainly through the maxims that Grice s paradigm has been challenged as highly ethnocentric, however such readings may tend to take the maxims too literally rather than as reference points for language interchange (Allan as cited in Clyne, 1994, p. 11). There is some agreement in this, but as suggested by Mey (1994, p. 74), the principle and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In such cases, there is a clash between Grice s maxims and the pragmatic rules of conversation, which are culturally sensitive. For example, when being offered a drink, a typical Chinese person would automatically say no the first time, while expecting the offer to be made at least two or three times more. This resembles a kind of phatic language communication; saying no, but not really meaning no. In this sort of situation, if someone doesn t adhere to the cultural norm choosing to follow Grice s maxims instead, then they would sound odd and out of place. The above example demonstrates that Grice s maxims aren t relevant in all contexts as they clash with certain cultural values systems. Many linguists (Clyne, 1994; Hymes, 1986; Loveday, 1983; Walsh, 2009) have picked up on this discrepancy between theory and data, claiming that the maxims are only relevant to the English speaking Western world. In particular, Clyne (1994) has pointed out that they have limited relevance to cultures where content and knowledge are core values. For example, speakers of Malagasy, whose form of co operation seems to consist in making their contributions as opaque, convoluted and non perspicuous as possible (Keenan as cited in Mey, 1994, p. 74) could be seen as flouting the Maxim of Quantity. • 38. Social Media And Self-Esteem Social media plays an important role in the lives of teenagers and potentially young women. It can actually be a big influencer on their decisions being as it s a place to express yourself in many ways even if those ways put off negative connotations to those around. Daily on social media you typically see a lot of ads, people who you might perceive as beautiful or pretty , along with statuses and pictures that talk about how the perfect relationship or person should be. As a teenager myself, I recognize that a lot of young girls struggle with finding themselves and wanting to be different. Females in general have a hard time This current generation of teenagers are more concerned with social media sites like facebook, instagram, twitter, and snapchat. More people are concerned with the number of likes or favorites they get rather than actual important or real world things. For a teen that struggles with self esteem issues, it could be confusing to see a lot of pretty girls and not know why you don t or can not look like them. Social media when used addictively has negative or harmful effects on young girls self esteem. Social media is also an easy place to experience cyber bullying. Typically on Facebook cyberbullying happens by one person sharing a picture of someone else that they are trying to make fun of.This cycle happens over and over until the picture goes viral and many people have brought attention to it. Since social media is a way for one to express themselves, people feel justified to have the right to share what they want on their account, even though it is hurting someone else. Recently, Facebook changed how statuses work. If you re friends with someone, you can t just automatically share their picture. To be able to share it, they have to make the picture public so the world can already see it. This somewhat cuts down on how many people can see you picture but it stops the chain of someone going viral in a bad way. Since Cyber bullying is so prevalent, the rates of teen suicide have increased and are linked to social media. On January 22nd of this year, a sixteen year old girl took her life and broadcasted it on Facebook live. While young Naika Venant was on her live broadcast There ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Economy Outsourcing American Jobs Hurt U.S. Economy Globalization is the integration of markets through the cooperation of internalization, federal, and state governments with corporate companies to provide low cost products. In its broadest sense, outsourcing is simply contracting out functions that had been done in house a longtime U.S. practice ( Globalization: Threat or Opportunity ). When a U.S. manufacture product, and buys material from an intermediate supplier from out of the country rather than producing them in house, that is what is called outsourcing. Also, when U.S. corporation hires outside contractor out of the country to do U.S. call center services for less labor cost that is outsourcing. When a company deals out its operational task, such as payroll, accounting, and software operations that is outsourcing. To get the clear understanding of outsourcing, I have interviewed IKEA s U.S. Deputy Retail Country Manager Rob Olson about outsourcing Swedish goods. Olson stated that IKEA s outsourcing utilizes the unique talents of different countries and their labor markets to increase trade, which helps better allocate resources in their own countries while getting goods cheaper from others. • 44. A Popular Model Designed By Bruce W. Tuckman So what are genres? When most people are asked this question they will reply with something like science fiction, horror, mystery, or romance. While these are not fundamentally wrong answers, those with such responses do not understand the full breadth of what genres truly are. According to the dictionary, a genre is a class or category of artistic endeavor having a particular form, content, technique, or the like (Genre). Still though this does not capture the full breadth of what a genre really is. To explain how genres form, dynamically change, and serve their purposes we must first take a step back and look at some other fundamental concepts. A popular model designed by Bruce W. Tuckman suggests that all groups experience five phases: forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning (Gulati 439 440). At our cores, humans seek to be accepted and acknowledged by others. We seek to form social hierarchies to find meaning the areas we are passionate about. This part of human nature is nothing new, it is something programmed deep into our genes for millennia. It happens before our eyes every day; sports fans meet in stadiums, video game fans meet at conventions, artists meet at exhibitions, and so on. People of similar interest meet, one way or another, and are drawn together by their passion. Some groups remain small friend circles, while others may grow vastly to be composed of millions of members. These vast communities, known as discourse communities, ... The unregulated version of capitalism employed and protected by the United States Government (USG) was developed by individual entrepreneurs operating in the freest market in the world. They innovated petroleum refining and business practices that are still supporting U.S. global monetary control and financial power today. Now that humanity is making a shift away from petroleum, the same market practices used by the oil barons of 19th century America are being applied by the solar barons of China, and the rise of a new global hegemon is apparent, or at least widely considered possible. As global change continues to threaten the consumption of the petroleum that keeps the U.S. in power, and the dollar that is backed by petroleum trade, the rise of China as a provider of alternative energy and currency will soon force the U.S. to either share its position of global leadership or compromise the peace that has been maintained by its uncontested seat of power. Still, mutually advantageous foreign policy can be put into place to create a duplistic monopoly of force that will maintain global stability.
