The Woman s Body
In the painting, a young, life sized woman is seen dressed in a very classy manner inside of a bedroom
in a palace. The top of her dress seems to be falling off of her breasts and shoulder a bit, and her right
leg is exposed. Sshe is bending backwards, and her facial expression seems to be full of shock,
disgust, anger, and fear, as if something horrific had just happened to her. Her right arm is raised,
almost as if she is surrendering and saying don t hurt me or I didn t ask for this . In the lower left area
of the portrait, there are two important items in which her face is pointed towards: broken eggs on a
silver platter and a dagger, which represent lost virginity and self harm, respectively (DAI). The
motion of the woman s body, her facial expression and clothes she is wearing, and the iconographic
items in the painting reveal that she is Lucretia, the woman who was raped. According to the didactic,
Lucretia was the wife of a Roman noble, and was raped by Sextus, the son of Tarquin, who was the
king of Rome. Tarquin s nephew, Brutus, led the rebellion against the king, which eventually led to his
banishment. After she was raped, Lucretia told the incident to her brother and father and probably
because of how guilty she felt stabbed herself with the dagger that Sextus used to threaten her with.
Interestingly, the dagger in the painting is not bloody and Sextus is not present, although this appeared
to have happened right after the rape. Therefore, it makes sense

Clarification Request Strategy
Clarification: when using the clarification request strategy, the teacher basically delivers a message to
the student, indicating that there s an error in his utterance, so that the teacher s repeating is required.
When I teach English, I make extensive use of this method, because it (similar to explicit correction)
immediately signals the student that he made a mistake, and that he should correct himself. Another
reason I think this strategy works, is that it puts the student in a situation where you are indicating that
he had made a mistake, but you, as a teacher, do not explain to him what it is, but let him deal with
this question himself, and correct himself alone.
Repetition: this strategy, of repeating the student error in other intonation (usually a questioning one)
to alert the student that he made a mistake, is a significant and beneficial strategy, especially when the
amendment is made in front of the class. Humans can identify intonation, as well as the ... Show more

By indicating mistakes in the student s utterance with explicit correction, the teacher can correct the
students to use to right form. explicit correction helped me a lot when I started to learn the Dutch
language. I learned in a group of five people, and at the beginning of each meeting, everyone in the
group had to say a sentence about himself. When one of us was wrong syntax, grammar or vocabulary,
the instructor would correct him, to understand where was the mistake and how to correct it. In
addition, I think that explicit correction is a good and meaningful learning strategy, because the
students get a real time correction, in context to what they read. That kind of correction allows the
teacher to ask the student to repeat what he said but in the correct

Persuasive Essay On Diesel Engine
When someone purchases a vehicle, diesel engine or gas engine, there is a lot responsibility that goes
with this decision. Not only only do they have to pay close attention to their vehicle s exterior and
interior, but there should also be just as much attention paid to what is under the hood.
As the owner of the vehicle, you will most likely know your car or truck fairly well and can tell when
something is not right. Some problems are easily fixed, and others are not, but depending on what is
wrong, it is something that could have been avoided. This is actually a common occurrence when
people have failed to get regular oil changes, as changing your oil can prevent extensive damage to
your engine and much more.

Compare And Contrast Obama s Four Freedom Speech
I believe that freedom the idea of freedom from fear has not changed over time. There are many things
in the world that change, such as the situation of a country s economy or a countries moral standpoint.
I will be analyzing President Franklin Roosevelt s Four Freedom Speech and President Obama s
welcome speech delivered whilst he was visiting a British Prime Minister in 2012.
President Roosevelt presented some very essential freedoms in his Four Freedoms Speech for the
American people, and others in the world alike. These freedoms are freedom of speech and expression
everywhere in the world, freedom of every person to worship God in his own way everywhere in the
world, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. In his speech, President Roosevelt also mentions
that is no vision of a distant millennium. It is a definite basis for a kind of world attainable in our own
time and generation... which basically means that all these freedoms are attainable now if we as a
people work toward them. He then makes it clear that a free nation stands for human rights
everywhere, and mentions that America is a free nation. President Roosevelt is firm in his belief that
these four freedom s are essential for a good society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the same light, President Obama also shares the same want as President Roosevelt for freedom of
fear for all people around the world, rather than just the American people. This is shown by this quote
from President Obama s speech, We believe in the universal rights of all people. He then goes on to
say We believe that our citizens should be able to live free from fear... along with ...or endanger the
globe with the world s most dangerous weapons. I believe this goes very well with President
Roosevelt s fourth point of freedom from fear in which he also mentions he would like all people to be
free from fear, along with a reduction in

Selfishness In Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour

Writing About Literature
4 February 2016
The Road to Unselfishness Michael Jordan once said, To be successful you have to be selfish or else
you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay
reachable. Stay in touch. Don t isolate (Jordan). Many people would argue against the idea of needing
to be selfish. Selfishness is viewed by society as being greedy and ignorant to what is going on in the
world. Even though society has a negative view on selfishness, people are selfish because it is
necessary to focus on achieving their own successes, and once they are successful, they then can take
a step back and be concerned about other people. This is best shown through ... Show more content on

When she abandoned herself a little whispered word escaped her slightly parted lips. She said it over
and over under her breath: free, free, free! (Chopin 477). The main character, Louise, wasn t concerned
about her husband s death, instead she was excited to finally be free from him. This is an example of
Louise having the need to be selfish. If she focused on her husband s death, then she would be unable
to reach her full potential. Instead, by her being selfish, she becomes a stronger person, allowing her to
be confident in her ability to live on her own and to live for herself rather than for other people.
Connecting this back to Michael Jordan s quote, Louise will not be able to reach her full potential with
her husband alive which causes her to be selfish and not care that he was reported dead. Society would
argue that Louise should be upset over the reported death of her husband, and would be appalled to
find out she was actually relieved when she was told he died. Overall, even though society has a
negative view on selfishness, people are selfish because it is necessary to focus on achieving their own
successes, and once they are successful, they then can take a step back and be concerned about other
people. This is best shown through Jack Gilbert s A Brief for the Defense , W.H. Auden s Mussée des
Beaux Arts , and Kate Chopin s The Story of an

Clocky Marketing Analysis
Introduction In 2005 Gauri Nanda, supported by neuroscience research that demonstrated the depth of
the average American s sleep deficiency problem, created significant media buzz with the prototype of
her revolutionary alarm clock Clocky . Unsure of how to position a product that had a growing
following but was still over a year away from production, Nanda was faced with a number of difficult
decisions as she attempted to devise a marketing plan to bring her Clocky project to fruition. The
following is our analysis of her situation, and suggestions on how she should proceed. Question 1
Using a SWOT analysis we are able to define the success factors that will influence Clocky s future
launch on the market by identifying the potential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated in the case, Nanda believed this segment is less risky because claiming Clocky as the
revolutionary product which would change people s morning patterns could raise too high an
expectation regarding performance, which in turn can be difficult to meet consistently (note that the
Clocky is still a prototype and its functionality is not yet proven). Targeting Clocky first as a robotic
household pet would be a good foundational step to help Nanda raise the necessary capital investment
for further expansion, particularly in terms of the knowledge and technologies that will be needed to
update the functionality and reliability of a second generation Clocky. In this way Nanda also leaves
herself the possibility to cover the NEED MARKET with further generations of Clocky. Moreover,
Clocky s furry exterior (in the original prototype), revolutionary technology application and playful
nature lend it a high internal consistency with the fun segment customers who seek out these
distinctive features which not found in traditional, existing products (Clocky is the first alarm clock
with pet like habits). The only concern associated with Nanda s targeting Clocky to the Fun Market is
the risk of Clocky being confused with a fad, which has a very short acceptance period and tends not
to satisfy a legitimate, strong need. However, it is possible to recognize fads early and leverage its
popularity into a product with a staying power, for example by

Acute Kidney Injury Essay
ABSTRACT
Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is a critical complication after pediatric cardiac surgery that significantly
diminishes the quality of life. Early detection of AKI after pediatric cardiac surgery can lead to better
preventive and therapeutic interventions. The aim of this study was to assess the usefulness of plasma
neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin (NGAL) as an early marker of acute kidney injury (AKI) in
cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in pediatric cardiac patients. We measured serum creatinine, serum
urea, and plasma NGAL levels in 30 Egyptian children undergoing cardiac surgery with
cardiopulmonary bypass. We classified patients according to creatinine criteria of Acute Kidney Injury
Network into AKI (n=9) and non AKI (n=21) groups. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were undergoing cardiac surgery with CPB for surgical correction or palliation of congenital
heart disease. Monitoring of the patients was achieved by serial measurements of plasma NGAL, S.Cr
and serum urea levels at 2 h preoperatively, as well as 2 h, and 24 h postoperatively. In addition, we
measured the postoperative S.Cr and serum urea during 48 h after surgery. Venous blood sample was
withdrawn from every patient by suitable syringe according to patients age and weight. Estimation of
plasma NGAL was carried out using Human Neutrophil Gelatinase Associated Lipocalin (NGAL)
ELISA kit (Catalog #: 95645) of Glory Science Co., Ltd, USA. It was measured on MR 96 Microplate
Reader (CLINDIAG SYSTEMS B.V.B.A; MR 96; MR2GL002; Belgium). Estimation of S.Cr was
carried out using commercially available reagent kit. The diagnostic kit of the kinetic Jaffé method
used for the estimation of S.Cr was obtained from Egyptian Company for Biotechnology (S.A.E).
Estimation of serum urea was carried out by urease colorimetric method (Modified Urease Berthelot

Overcoming Obstacles Of Determination
Victory is like gaining trust; hard to earn, but you also have to put some effort in. Victory is not also
about winning; it s also about changing, as one cannot progress without change. Victory is not always
about winning; it s also about how you are determined to succeed so therefore determination is like a
soldier; to survive a conflict, you must persevere to continue. This is why Freedom Writers directed by
Richard Lagravenese, Divergent by Neil Burger, Glory Road directed by James Gartner, and The
Pursuit of Happiness by Gabriele Muccino, all set in different times were attempting to express the
message that, overcoming obstacles takes effort, resilience, and determination. The films are mainly
about how the protagonist who struggles in life overcame their obstacles by having determination,
being resilient. The director cleverly use Dialogue to justify that we shouldn t give up on something

Neil Postman s Assertions And Today s Society

01 March 2017 Neil Postman s Assertions and Today s Society: Huxley s Brave New World could be
considered almost prophetic by many people today. It is alarmingly obvious how modern society is
eerily similar to Huxley s novel with the constant demand for instant gratification encouraging
laziness, greed, and entitlement. Neil Postman, a contemporary social critic, seems to have noticed this
similarity, as he has made bold, valid statements regarding the text and its relevance to our world
today. This response is strongly in support of those statements and will prove both their accuracy in
clarifying Huxley s intentions and how Postman s assertions compare to society today. One of

dystopia . Basically, and more familiarly, too much of anything is not a good thing, and that includes
pleasure. Lastly, at one point John tries to defend morals like being chaste. He is rebuked by Mustapha

World Bank and Poverty Essay
Executive Summary
This research paper is focused on the role World Bank in Poverty Reduction, as the primary role of the
World Bank is to enable development and progress in the backward countries and regions of this
world. This paper explains the brief history of the World Bank, and World Bank s five institutions. It
also investigates how the World Bank is continually trying to reduce poverty by lending billions of
dollars to poor countries .This paper gives some of the facts of the under developed countries and the
strategies which World Bank has incorporated to reduce the poverty in those countries.

areas of focus for the bank.
The Role of the World Bank in Poverty Reduction
The world is place which has both the rich and the poor masses. There are around 2.6 billion people in
this world which make less than $1 a day. The repercussions of this extremity cause around 33000
children to die every day from hunger and diseases which could have been easily avoided otherwise.
Statistics have shown that on an average at least one woman dies every minute during child birth.
Poverty causes around 100 million children to not seek education. This involves a majority of girl
children who are forced to drop out from schools since their families can t afford to send them to
school and provide education. Poverty causes a lot of derivatives or side effects in the life of the poor
people. Due to lack of inadequate financing these people are left without proper health care,
education, jobs and cause them to be vulnerable to corruption, violence and mental pressure leading to
high number of suicide rates. The poor governance and waste of public resources due to inadequate
management further worsens the situation. Figure1 below depicts the distribution of the percentage of
people living under $1 per day. It s quite evident that the

Empiricism, Positivism, And Positivism Essay
The Science is the idea that we need to understand and distinguish it from other kinds of investigation
in the world. We also refer it as empiricism , the scientific way we gain our knowledge from
experience. Empiricism is also a view that all kinds of knowledge come from, not just scientific
knowledge. Scientific thinking and investigation have the same basic pattern as everyday thinking and
investigation. (Godfrey Smith, 9) Again, we call it empiricism in terms of philosophical way, but in
earliest form, the empiricism was referred as logical positivism . Logical Positivism is a systematic
reduction of all human knowledge to logical and scientific foundations. Thus, a statement is
meaningful if it is either purely formal (essentially, mathematics and logic) or capable of empirical
verification (Mastin,12) One of the most important American philosophers, W.V.O. Quine, creates the
two dogmas of empiricism and logical positivism. The two dogmas that Quine attacked were the
distinction between analytic and synthetic statements and the verification dogma of radical
reductionism (Mattey,8) Quine discusses against both the dogmas, with two consequences: A blurring
of the distinction between natural science and metaphysics and a turn toward pragmatism (Mattey,1)
Although he made arguments on the dogmas of empiricism and logical positivism, Quine criticized on
empiricism that the analytic and synthetic statements have definitions that are mere reports of the
synonymy of

Authorship Of Hebrews
The author for the book of Hebrews is unknown, as there is no ascription or introduction given by the
author; therefore, scholars may only propose possible authors without confirming who it is. With that
said, many scholars have pushed for Pauline because in earlier manuscripts Hebrews followed
Romans which they thought warranted Pauline authorship. Some of the early church fathers believe
that there is Pauline influence, however, not Pauline authorship simply for the reason that Hebrews
seems to be written by a well educated Greek with elaborate and complex language. There are other
suggestions made by scholars, most of which they are unable to support. Pricilla is one example, it
would be fitting for her authorship of Hebrews based on her being in Paul s inner circle and the book
having Pauline influence, however, one would have to look past the strong presence of the authors
masculine self reference. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, Luke translates Barnabas to mean son of consolation which ties into Hebrews being a word
of consolation (Johnson). He is also described as interacting with Paul through missions, which Paul
confirms in his letters, however, this does not confirm his authorship as there are also various things
that would not agree with his authorship. Lastly, there is discussion concerning Apollos as the author
of Hebrews, there are many connections that have been made, such as, Apollos being a Jew and
Hebrews showing strong knowledge of Judaism, Apollos being well learned in the Scriptures and the
intricate scriptural citations used in Hebrews, among other things. Though there are many aspects that

Asch Conformity Lab Report
Asch s experiment was designed to study the cause and extent to which an individual will conform
within a given group setting. Using the inductive experimental method Asch observed the group in a
controlled setting where he was able to manipulate the independent variable (the amount of group
pressure) to observe the effects of the dependent variable (the conformity of the participant). The
purpose of his experiment was to understand which aspect of the influence of a majority is more
influential the size of the majority or its unanimity (how much they agree vs. the individual)? This
brings upon the subject two opposed forces: the evidence of their senses and the unanimous opinion of
a majority group. To do this the subjects had to declare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

had freed up subjects from the pressure of conformity. Asch recognized that dissent had generally
increased independence and moderated the errors that occurred and that either direction of dissent
exerted consistent effects. The previous trails featured each subject in only a single setting Asch then
studied the effects upon an individual by changing the group they were exposed to by having them
lose or gain a partner. The dissenter would answer correctly for the first six trials with the subject
resisting majority pressure (18 of 27 subject were independent). After the six trials the partner would
then join the majority, which caused an up rise in the subjects errors. The subjects submitted to the

Romeo learns that the Capulet s are holding a party at which Rosaline is attending he risks his life just
to be with the one he loves. Romeo is passionate for love.
She is too fair, too wise; wisely too fair,
There is also a parental love for Juliet when lord Capulet is talking to Paris as he is very
overprotective and wants to make sure that his daughter only gets the best. He is also trying to delay
the marriage by saying it is better to wait a while.
She is the hopeful lady of my earth.

Handgun Ownership Research Paper
The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution gives residents the privilege to have and
carry weapons. It is reasonable that Americans would need to have weapons, for example, shotguns
and rifles for hunting. It is crazy that our administration would permit individuals to have handguns.
Handgun ownership should to be entirely restricted, because they are made only to kill individuals,
they have expanded the homicide rate in the U.S., and they have even permitted kids to effortlessly
kill other youngsters.
Why might our nation permit us to have the privilege to have, own an item that is destructive? Our
administration appears to need to ensure us. For instance, safety belt laws and cruiser head protector
laws were made to secure our lives. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) authorizes
contamination laws to keep us sheltered and sound. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
assesses nourishment and tests medications to ensure American are not hurt by bad nutritions and

Remedies Under Breach Of Contract
1.3 Remedies available under breach of contract
1.3.1 Breach of a Contract
A breach of contract is where a party to a contract fails to perform, precisely and faithfully, his
obligations under the contract. This can take numerous forms for example, the failure to supply goods
or perform a service as agreed. Breach of contract may be either actual or anticipatory.
 Actual breach occurs where one party refuses to form his side of the bargain on the due date or
performs incompletely. For example: Poussard v Spiers and Bettini v Gye.
 Anticipatory breach occurs where one party announces, in advance of the due date for performance,
that he intends not to perform his side of the bargain. The innocent party might sue for damages

law. When one party breaches a contract, the other party might ask a court to deliver a remedy for the
breach. The court might order the breaching party to pay money to the non breaching party.Without a
remedial response; a right would be of little value. Thus the law has established a series of remedial
responses where a breach of contract befalls. The innocent party might keep a right of action by
claiming one or more of the following remedies:
 suit for rescission
 suit for damages
 suit for quantum meruit

Pan Gu Myth
I have chosen to review the Chinese and the Hebrew creation myths.
The Chinese creation myth of Pan Gu, incorporates the idea of the forces of Yin and Yang. This two
forces form the Tao. Yin is associated with the dark and the earth; instead, yang is associated with
light and the sun. On the beginning there was a cosmic egg and Pangu was inside in the midst of Yin
and Yang. For eighteen years Pan Gu grew up until he broke the egg. Pan Gu separated the Heaven

On 7 days God created everything. In Day 1, God created light and called the light day and called the
darkness night. In day 2, God created heaven. In day 3, God separated the water and called the dry
land earth and the waters sea. In day 4, God created the sun, moon and stars. In day 5, God created the
creatures of the sky and the sea. In day 6, God created humans and land creatures. In day 7, God
rested.
Pan Gu is very similar to the representation of God in the Hebrew creation Myth. Both were the first
living being in the universe, and also as God did, Pan Gu also separated heaven and Earth. Both myths
explain orderly the beginning of everything. However, in the Chinese story the creation begins from
the chaos with a cosmic egg, while in the Hebrew story the creation begins from nothing. God was the
only thing that existed.
In the Chinese story when Pan Gu died, it was when the creation of everything began. But in Hebrew
story and from nothing God wanted to begin the creation, which he did in 7 days. In Hebrew story
existed only one Creator, but in Chinese story there was more than one. Nu Gua created people out of
the mud in the Chinese story. She completed her job of populating the earth and teach the humans how
to procreate. In the Hebrew story God created a man in his own image Adam, and then, from an Adam
s rib God created a woman,

Seaworld Is Not A Killer Whale Program And The Number Of...
Captivity has been a controversial subject for as long as it has existed. In the past decade, SeaWorld
has been under scrutiny for their killer whale program and the number of incidents regarding them.
Almost as big as a school bus, these animals are incredibly intelligent. Their brain s are so much larger
than humans. One may think that is because they are so massive, but body size does not determine
brain size. Many animals much larger than humans have brains much smaller. Killer whales even have
a center of their brain that processes emotions; humans do not have that. SeaWorld has taken social
animals who swim almost 100 miles a day, to an introverted, almost immobile bathtub, baking in the
sun. Nothing good can come from changing their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
after Kalina was removed from the scene and put on the truck and taken to the airport, and Katina, her
mom, was left in the pool. She stayed in the corner of the pool, like, literally just shaking and
screaming, screeching, crying. (Blackfish). It is so poignant to read about a mother losing her child. To
hear what it looks and sounds like is unfathomable. No one can understand what Katina was feeling,
breaking the deeply rooted bond she had with her child. After the agonizing event with Katina,
SeaWorld had again brought heartbreak to a mother from breeding with Kohana. Former SeaWorld
Trainer John Hargrove wrote a book about SeaWorld and working there. Hargrove stated, within five
years of her stay in Loro Parque, Kohana had given birth twice and twice had rejected her calves. Her
second rejected calf died within its first year. Kohana was too young when she was separated from
Takara to have fully learned what orca motherhood entails. (Hargrove 156). It is enthralling how
SeaWorld has created three horrible lives; Kohana, who gave birth too young, and her two calves she
rejected, one of which whom died, because SeaWorld wanted to make more money by renting them.
These are living creatures and SeaWorld is treating them as if they are merchandise, renting them
across the world, pasting their faces onto shirts and mugs.
SeaWorld continued to hurt more mothers and calves. Hargrove states, 19 calves were taken from their

The Goal By Eliyahu M. Veldt
The Goal, a fictional novel written by Eliyahu M. Goldratt, introduces the reader to a plant manager of
a production plant within the UniCo Manufacturing group, Alex Rogo, who is experiencing consistent
problems in meeting targeted production levels. Faced with an ultimatum, ta turn his plant profitable
in three months, Rogo seeks guidance from a distant acquaintance of his, Jonah, an old physics
professor. This consultancy introduces concepts that will constitute cornerstones of Rogo s strategy to
turn the plant around. These concepts are also applied successfully by Rogo in the alternative story
line of his marital life. When reaching out to Jonah, Rogo is to some extent perplexed of why the plant
is not performing as expected, he is instructed to define the true goal of the firm. After contemplation,
Rogo managed, with help of one of his accountants, to expand the ultimate goal to make money into
essentially three categories: to increase net profit, while simultaneously increasing return of
investment, while simultaneously increasing cash flow . The measures, as outlined by Jonah, of this
overarching goal were; Throughput, Inventory and Operational Expense. Throughput refers to the rate
at which the system generates cash from sales, Inventory is defined as the total money invested in
purchasing things intended to sell, whereas Operational Expense is the cost associated with turning
inventory into throughput. These measurements as defined in the Goal differ in

General Electric Leadership Essay
ASSIGNMENT ON LEADERSHIP
Lecturer: Dr. Brian O Reilly
Title: Compare and Contrast Two Leaders
Executive Summary
This paper would take leadership into account by comparing and contrasting two well known leaders
in General Electric (GE). The paper first introduces two leaders with some brief biographies,
characteristics and their contribution to the GE. It then looks at who would be the more effective
leader by providing with some aspects of leadership. It then comes up with some skills these people
employed in their leadership to help GE growth rapidly during 1990s till now. The next part will put a
conclusion and some recommendations about leadership for potential leaders in the future.

Welch was a very good hunter for opportunities and also a good manager of risks and threats while
Immelt improved what Welch had. As a successful story in business management, application of Six
Sigma program in GE was spread over the world as one of the most valuable lessons among
businesses in the world relating to quality control. (see Appendix B, Story 1)
Above all, Welch was a ruthless taskmaster at GE. Immelt works with long term perspective rather
with a short term one. Immelt proved that he is a very effective leader by helping GE overcome the
hardship in 2001 when terrorist attacks on September 11 were a harbinger of bad times to come for
GE. (see Appendix B, Story 2)
It s really difficult to say this leader is better than another one. To compare and contrast them, in the
range of this paper, in terms of leadership, we would just use leadership styles, traits of emotional
intelligence that helped them become top leaders in the world.
2.1. Leadership styles
In the reign of Jack Welch during his 20 year at GE, a new leadership style was introduced and spread
companywide. Welch developed a ranking system that put employees in one of the three categories.
The top 20 percent were stars , the middle 70 percent were the crucial majority and the bottom 10
percent were weeded out. Through his policy of differentiation, Welch was able to separate those who

Effects Of Parent Child Dynamics On Emotional Development
Effects of Parent Child Dynamics on Emotional Development in Infants
Jovana Capric
Florida Atlantic University
Abstract
Misinformation and lack of education often lead parents into uncertainty about how to raise their child
to be the best person they can be. When raising children, the connection and relationship that is shared
between parents and child are significant. Multiple studies and research proves that different
engagements and experiences such as affection, discipline techniques and parenting styles all can have
positive or negative effects on a child and therefore, have critical consequences in development. Some
consequences include high or low acceptance ratings from the infants as well as impacts on social and
emotional development.
Effects of Parent Child Dynamics on Emotional Development in Infants
Parent child relations have been a topic of much review within psychology research due to the effects
on development and the implications it has on the child and family dynamics. Today, family and
parenting are in a great state of uncertainty and flux due to the constant re defining of what parenting
really is and how it is most effective (Lunkenheimer Leerkes, 2015). Often it becomes difficult to keep
up with the many forms of parenting and discipline styles while effectively maintaining a positive
parent child relationship. With the abundance of research and studies that have been conducted on this
topic we now have a better

Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH)
In late 2001, an amateur astronomer happened upon an uncharacteristically bright object in the
Monocerotis constellation (Figure 1). Over the next several months the object went through periods of
intense brightness the likes of which had rarely been seen before. My research this summer was to use
a computer simulation to better understand what may have caused this strange event known as V838
Mon. In order to understand what may have caused the bright outbursts, it is necessary to try and
make a model of the event that caused them. To make this model, we implement a Smoothed Particle
Hydrodynamics (SPH) code called Starsmasher. The code calculates the movements of many small
particles to replicate the movement of a fluid, such as a liquid or ... Show more content on

Also, an ever present goal is to make the simulation more physically accurate to achieve the best
results possible without spending too much computation time. The beginning of my research was
spent adjusting the conditions to try to fit an outcome that we wanted. The outcomes included how
many times the two stars would collide, the times between when the stars collided, and the peak in the
brightness of the system. The latter half of my research project was spent primarily trying to improve
different aspects of the simulation code. Primarily how transparent the gases should be at different
distances to the center of the collision. The transparencies can change how bright the star is measured
to be as well as the temperature of the star, two very important sets of data for modelling. It depends
on the types of gases and molecules present in the system and the temperature and radiation near those
molecules. This gives the simulation a better match to what the astronomers actually observed (Figure
2). I increased the speed of a splotting routine tenfold and we are working on a method to better
resolve the distance of different gases in the collision at different times. This faster splot will not only
be useful for my research, it will also be used in a majority of future projects carried out in the
research

Costs And Benefits For The 2016 Olympics
The Olympic games originated in ancient Greece around the 8th century BC as a contest between city
states. The modern Olympics were re started in 1896 by Baron Pierre de Coubertin as a competition
between the best athletes from each country. Now countries and cities compete to host the Olympic
games, which are held every 4 years, with winter and summer games alternating every two years. In
submitting their bids the countries are required to show how hosting the games will deliver a positive
economic gain. However, the track record of delivering this gain is not good, sometimes the costs
have outweighed the benefits for hosts. Yet cities continue to bid, why? The real motivation seems to
be not economic but political; proving that a country has arrived on the international stage or
increasing the moral of the population. The 2016 Olympics will be held in Rio but they are facing
significant challenges to deliver either the economic or political benefits that have been promised.
This paper will look at the costs and benefits for the Rio Olympics and whether they are likely to be
delivered? Originally an entirely amateur competition the Olympics have developed into a unique
opportunity for media exposure for athletes who would otherwise never have a chance to attain
national or international fame. The Games also constitute an opportunity for the host city and country
to showcase themselves to the world and for their political leaders the opportunity to polish their

what category to nominate his album in. It was not nominated for best country album, however.
Instead, it was nominated for best Americana album. I have a good friend who is also a fan of Sturgill

Another source that will help with a certain aspect of understanding Americana music is the journal

Hamlet Soliloquy Compare And Contrast
Here are two extremely famous productions both portraying one of the most famous speeches of all

and ten seconds, while Franco Zeffirelli is about three minutes and thirty five seconds. Branagh chose
himself to be the star of his own play, while Zeffirelli chose a young Mel Gibson. This soliloquy
occurs in Act 3 scene 1.
Both of the directors takes on this scene could not have been more different. In the two versions, the
physical appearance of Hamlet is practically opposite. Branagh presented himself with bright blonde
hair and very strange goatee and mustache, he looks like royalty. To contrast, Mel Gibson looks more
like an average person wearing all black. Branagh is in the middle of his huge castle, surrounded by ...

seem insane in that he would take his own life, rather he is enraged and searching for revenge. In this
version we are left to wonder if Hamlet is talking to himself or to Polonius and Claudius. This also
goes along with the recurring theme of the play, appearance vs reality. In Zeffirelli version, he has
Hamlet alone in a dark tomb which symbolizes death and sorrow. This Hamlet is very much
contemplating committing suicide. It also emphasizes his great depression. Zeffirelli has Hamlet in a

Gender And The Media By Rosalind Gill
Book Review of Gender and the Media by Rosalind Gill
Gender and the Media by Rosalind Gill addresses gender stereotypes that are brought onto women and
men through the media resulting in objectification and subjectification. Gill discusses how the
representation of gender is altered as a result of the media in Western societies. Gender and the Media
is aimed to address the rapid transmission of media and how those changes affect the construction of
feminine and masculine gender roles in society. Gill uses her interest in the contradictions of gender
construction by society, to analyze gender and the media. Using feminism as a backbone for her
research, Gill and many commentators support the idea that feminist ideas are common and may even
affect the media. Gender and the Media addresses multiple forms of media: postfeminism in
advertising, gender in the news and journalism, and gender in magazines. Gild aims to address the
construction of gender representations, elements for gender analysis, and feminist culture with Gender
and the Media.
The first section of Gender and the Media addresses gender representations and the beginning of
feminism. During the late 60 s and early 70 s, women s rights movements were first introduced with
the challenge of the media, prompting them monitor the way the media portrayed women. This
portrayal starting in the late 1970 s has seen many transmissions since. Gil states: I use the term

The Importance Of Safe Sex In High School
You wake up in the middle of the night to your child screaming. It s 4 in the morning and you have
school at 8:45 the next morning. That s the life of a teenage mom, and to many who think it s not real,
it is. Teenage pregnancy is still a very real occurrence in America and there are more than 200,000
babies born each year to teenage moms. Due to the amount of babies born to girls under the age of 19,
parenting classes should be a required class in high schools. This parenting class could teach girls the
importance of safe sex, how much it costs to raise a baby and also show how much your life can
change when you have a child. Parenting classes could teach the importance of safe sex to teenage
girls. Many girls in high school take the risk of unprotected sex and to understand this issue we need
to look at the statistics. According to www.dosomething.org, 90% of teenage girls who have
unprotected sex end up pregnant within just one year. Also according to www.betterhealth.org, 51% of
females are sexually active before they get medication contraceptive prescribed by a doctor. 40% of
high school seniors also do not use a condom which significantly increases the risk of a pregnancy.
With the chance that condoms don t work or if it rips, the change of pregnancy increases. This class
could show girls the importance of birth control, condoms and other contraceptives to prevent teenage
pregnancy. By showing the statistics as well, this could significantly reduce the amount of

Health Of The Humber River Watershed By Collecting And...
Abstract This study was done to assess the health of the Humber River watershed by collecting and
analyzing benthic macro invertebrates. It was predicted that most of the species collected would have
high tolerances, and that the percentages of the benthic macro invertebrates would mostly fall in the
impaired or potentially impaired categories. Transects were measured out along the stream, and the D
net was held along the bottom to catch the invertebrates. Once 100 or more were caught, they were
then counted and identified. The Hilsenhof Biotic Index was use to calculate the total tolerance of the
organisms collected. The results showed that the distribution of species fell into the potentially
impaired category, while the total tolerance was in the unimpaired range. This could be an indicator of
a disturbance in the ecosystem that is affecting certain organisms more than others. The study was
mostly consistent with the hypothesis. Introduction This study was done to determine the health of the
Humber river watershed by testing the water quality. A watershed is a geographical area that drains
precipitation and water sources into the same place. Watersheds are essential in supporting ecosystems

A Description of Auditing
Auditing is a systematic process of objectively obtaining and evaluating evidence regarding assertions
about economic actions and events to ascertain the degree of correspondence between those assertions
and established criteria and communicating the results to interested users (Boynton Johnson, 2006). In
auditing there are many attributes that describes the auditor s work. Elements of the Generally
Accepted Auditing Standards are followed by auditors. The Generally Accepted Auditing Standards
apply to financial, operational, and compliance audits. Auditing public traded companies has been
effected by the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002, and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.

The four reporting standard are financial statements presented in accordance with GAAP, consistency
in the application of GAAP, adequacy of informative disclosures, and expressing an opinion. The
auditor needs to be able to identify the GAAP to be able to specify in the auditor s report where the
GAAP has not been followed under any circumstances. The auditor has to disclose any information
that has been false by management. The auditor is required to give an opinion on the financial
statements as a whole.
Financial, operational, and Compliance Audits
A financial statement audit involves obtaining and evaluating evidence about an entity s presentation
of its financial position, results of operations, and cash flows for the purpose of expressing an opinion
on whether they are presented fairly in conformity with established criteria according to the GAAP
(Boynton Johnson, 2006). Financial statements are released to stockholders, creditors, regulatory
agencies, and the general public. Financial audits give lenders information on the company to help
with their decision.
Operational audit involves obtaining and evaluating evidence about the efficiency and effectiveness of
an entity s operating activities in relation to specified objectives (Boynton Johnson, 2006). The

What Is The Mood Of The Killing Joke Movie
The DC Extended Universe might be releasing two major live action flicks this year, but fans are also
excited about the new animated adaptation of Alan Moore s classic graphic novel Batman: The Killing
Joke. Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor Mark Hamill, who will once again provide the voice of The
Joker in the film, is undoubtedly excited as he shared the first image from the movie on Twitter!
Hamill tweeted the still from The Killing Joke showing Batman grabbing The Joker s collar. The actor
actually posted the image three times, each with a different line from The Joker. The first tweet reads,
THE All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy...Just one bad day, followed
by another post with the caption, KILLING Remember there s always madness... Madness is the
emergency exit. The last tweet reads, JOKE If I have to have a past, then I prefer it to be multiple

Kevin Conroy, the long time voice of Batman, has also been confirmed to come back as the Dark
Knight. The news was confirmed to Comic Book Resources in a statement from both actors. The
chance to work once again with Kevin Conroy, my favorite Batman, in what some consider the
definitive origin of this iconic villain is a dream come true for me, Hamill said, and Conroy also
shared his admiration for his costar. Mark always enables me to be a better actor, he said. I m thrilled
that we re both back to bring these characters to life in one of the most heralded Batman/Joker stories
of all times. Batman: The Killing Joke will also mark the return of Tara Strong as Barbara
Gordon/Batgirl, who falls victim to the Joker in the comic book. The film is expected to be released
later this

Antimicrobial Resistance
Introduction Since the beginning of the antibiotic error in the mid 20th century, antimicrobial
resistance has been recognized. The increased use of antimicrobial agents in the recent years has
resulted in the development of resistance to these drugs. Clinical threats have however been
minimized by the availability of newer agents (Bonomo Tolmasky 2007). The World Health
Organization (WHO) defines antimicrobial resistance as the resistance of a microorganism to an
antimicrobial medicine to which it was previously sensitive (WHO 2012). A variety of resistance
mechanisms have been developed by bacteria to counter the introduction of successive classes of
antibiotics. This has lead to heightened interest in the study of antimicrobial ... Show more content on

Gram negative bacteria on the other hand secret fewer enzymes into the medium and thus less
extracellular drug inactivation is observed with these organisms. Many gram positive bacteria
however do produce the enzyme not retain it in the periplasmic space. This way the drug is inactive
after it has diffused across the cell wall but before it binds to its target PBP (Alexey 1999). New Delhi
Metallo Β Lactamase (NDM 1) MBLs have been reported to increase in gram negative organisms and
have been mostly identified in the Pseudomonas spp. MBLs have the ability to hydrolyze all β lactams
carbapenems included with exception of aztreonam. MBLs share several common features, including
significant carbapenemase activity, absence of activity against monobactams like aztreonam and
resistance to specific β lactamase inhibitors such as the clavulanic acid. The presence of
carbapenemase activity has been typically most associated with MBLs though it may occur in either
serin or metallo β lactamases. Frequently encountered MBL type carbapenemases are the IMP type,
VIM type and NDM 1 (Raghunath 2010). According to Kumarasamy et al. (2010), New Delhi metallo

Escherichia coli. The enzyme was

  • 2. The Woman s Body In the painting, a young, life sized woman is seen dressed in a very classy manner inside of a bedroom in a palace. The top of her dress seems to be falling off of her breasts and shoulder a bit, and her right leg is exposed. Sshe is bending backwards, and her facial expression seems to be full of shock, disgust, anger, and fear, as if something horrific had just happened to her. Her right arm is raised, almost as if she is surrendering and saying don t hurt me or I didn t ask for this . In the lower left area of the portrait, there are two important items in which her face is pointed towards: broken eggs on a silver platter and a dagger, which represent lost virginity and self harm, respectively (DAI). The motion of the woman s body, her facial expression and clothes she is wearing, and the iconographic items in the painting reveal that she is Lucretia, the woman who was raped. According to the didactic, Lucretia was the wife of a Roman noble, and was raped by Sextus, the son of Tarquin, who was the king of Rome. Tarquin s nephew, Brutus, led the rebellion against the king, which eventually led to his banishment. After she was raped, Lucretia told the incident to her brother and father and probably because of how guilty she felt stabbed herself with the dagger that Sextus used to threaten her with. Interestingly, the dagger in the painting is not bloody and Sextus is not present, although this appeared to have happened right after the rape. Therefore, it makes sense ... • 3. Clarification Request Strategy Clarification: when using the clarification request strategy, the teacher basically delivers a message to the student, indicating that there s an error in his utterance, so that the teacher s repeating is required. When I teach English, I make extensive use of this method, because it (similar to explicit correction) immediately signals the student that he made a mistake, and that he should correct himself. Another reason I think this strategy works, is that it puts the student in a situation where you are indicating that he had made a mistake, but you, as a teacher, do not explain to him what it is, but let him deal with this question himself, and correct himself alone. Repetition: this strategy, of repeating the student error in other intonation (usually a questioning one) to alert the student that he made a mistake, is a significant and beneficial strategy, especially when the amendment is made in front of the class. Humans can identify intonation, as well as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By indicating mistakes in the student s utterance with explicit correction, the teacher can correct the students to use to right form. explicit correction helped me a lot when I started to learn the Dutch language. I learned in a group of five people, and at the beginning of each meeting, everyone in the group had to say a sentence about himself. When one of us was wrong syntax, grammar or vocabulary, the instructor would correct him, to understand where was the mistake and how to correct it. In addition, I think that explicit correction is a good and meaningful learning strategy, because the students get a real time correction, in context to what they read. That kind of correction allows the teacher to ask the student to repeat what he said but in the correct ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not only only do they have to pay close attention to their vehicle s exterior and interior, but there should also be just as much attention paid to what is under the hood. As the owner of the vehicle, you will most likely know your car or truck fairly well and can tell when something is not right. Some problems are easily fixed, and others are not, but depending on what is wrong, it is something that could have been avoided. There are many things in the world that change, such as the situation of a country s economy or a countries moral standpoint. I will be analyzing President Franklin Roosevelt s Four Freedom Speech and President Obama s welcome speech delivered whilst he was visiting a British Prime Minister in 2012. President Roosevelt presented some very essential freedoms in his Four Freedoms Speech for the American people, and others in the world alike. These freedoms are freedom of speech and expression everywhere in the world, freedom of every person to worship God in his own way everywhere in the world, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. In his speech, President Roosevelt also mentions that is no vision of a distant millennium. It is a definite basis for a kind of world attainable in our own time and generation... which basically means that all these freedoms are attainable now if we as a people work toward them. He then makes it clear that a free nation stands for human rights everywhere, and mentions that America is a free nation. President Roosevelt is firm in his belief that these four freedom s are essential for a good society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Selfishness In Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour Kelly Polen Professor Brian Fruits Writing About Literature 4 February 2016 The Road to Unselfishness Michael Jordan once said, To be successful you have to be selfish or else you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don t isolate (Jordan). Many people would argue against the idea of needing to be selfish. Selfishness is viewed by society as being greedy and ignorant to what is going on in the world. Even though society has a negative view on selfishness, people are selfish because it is necessary to focus on achieving their own successes, and once they are successful, they then can take a step back and be concerned about other people. This is best shown through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When she abandoned herself a little whispered word escaped her slightly parted lips. She said it over and over under her breath: free, free, free! (Chopin 477). The main character, Louise, wasn t concerned about her husband s death, instead she was excited to finally be free from him. This is an example of Louise having the need to be selfish. If she focused on her husband s death, then she would be unable to reach her full potential. Instead, by her being selfish, she becomes a stronger person, allowing her to be confident in her ability to live on her own and to live for herself rather than for other people. Connecting this back to Michael Jordan s quote, Louise will not be able to reach her full potential with her husband alive which causes her to be selfish and not care that he was reported dead. Society would argue that Louise should be upset over the reported death of her husband, and would be appalled to find out she was actually relieved when she was told he died. Overall, even though society has a negative view on selfishness, people are selfish because it is necessary to focus on achieving their own successes, and once they are successful, they then can take a step back and be concerned about other people. Clocky Marketing Analysis Introduction In 2005 Gauri Nanda, supported by neuroscience research that demonstrated the depth of the average American s sleep deficiency problem, created significant media buzz with the prototype of her revolutionary alarm clock Clocky . Unsure of how to position a product that had a growing following but was still over a year away from production, Nanda was faced with a number of difficult decisions as she attempted to devise a marketing plan to bring her Clocky project to fruition. The following is our analysis of her situation, and suggestions on how she should proceed. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As stated in the case, Nanda believed this segment is less risky because claiming Clocky as the revolutionary product which would change people s morning patterns could raise too high an expectation regarding performance, which in turn can be difficult to meet consistently (note that the Clocky is still a prototype and its functionality is not yet proven). Targeting Clocky first as a robotic household pet would be a good foundational step to help Nanda raise the necessary capital investment for further expansion, particularly in terms of the knowledge and technologies that will be needed to update the functionality and reliability of a second generation Clocky. In this way Nanda also leaves herself the possibility to cover the NEED MARKET with further generations of Clocky. Moreover, Clocky s furry exterior (in the original prototype), revolutionary technology application and playful nature lend it a high internal consistency with the fun segment customers who seek out these distinctive features which not found in traditional, existing products (Clocky is the first alarm clock with pet like habits). The only concern associated with Nanda s targeting Clocky to the Fun Market is the risk of Clocky being confused with a fad, which has a very short acceptance period and tends not to satisfy a legitimate, strong need. However, it is possible to recognize fads early and leverage its popularity into a product with a staying power, for example by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Early detection of AKI after pediatric cardiac surgery can lead to better preventive and therapeutic interventions. The aim of this study was to assess the usefulness of plasma neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin (NGAL) as an early marker of acute kidney injury (AKI) in cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in pediatric cardiac patients. We measured serum creatinine, serum urea, and plasma NGAL levels in 30 Egyptian children undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. Victory is not also about winning; it s also about changing, as one cannot progress without change. This is why Freedom Writers directed by Richard Lagravenese, Divergent by Neil Burger, Glory Road directed by James Gartner, and The Pursuit of Happiness by Gabriele Muccino, all set in different times were attempting to express the message that, overcoming obstacles takes effort, resilience, and determination. Neil Postman, a contemporary social critic, seems to have noticed this similarity, as he has made bold, valid statements regarding the text and its relevance to our world today. • 14. Empiricism, Positivism, And Positivism Essay The Science is the idea that we need to understand and distinguish it from other kinds of investigation in the world. We also refer it as empiricism , the scientific way we gain our knowledge from experience. Empiricism is also a view that all kinds of knowledge come from, not just scientific knowledge. Scientific thinking and investigation have the same basic pattern as everyday thinking and investigation. (Godfrey Smith, 9) Again, we call it empiricism in terms of philosophical way, but in earliest form, the empiricism was referred as logical positivism . Logical Positivism is a systematic reduction of all human knowledge to logical and scientific foundations. Thus, a statement is meaningful if it is either purely formal (essentially, mathematics and logic) or capable of empirical verification (Mastin,12) One of the most important American philosophers, W.V.O. Quine, creates the two dogmas of empiricism and logical positivism. The two dogmas that Quine attacked were the distinction between analytic and synthetic statements and the verification dogma of radical reductionism (Mattey,8) Quine discusses against both the dogmas, with two consequences: A blurring of the distinction between natural science and metaphysics and a turn toward pragmatism (Mattey,1) Although he made arguments on the dogmas of empiricism and logical positivism, Quine criticized on empiricism that the analytic and synthetic statements have definitions that are mere reports of the synonymy of ... Authorship Of Hebrews The author for the book of Hebrews is unknown, as there is no ascription or introduction given by the author; therefore, scholars may only propose possible authors without confirming who it is. With that said, many scholars have pushed for Pauline because in earlier manuscripts Hebrews followed Romans which they thought warranted Pauline authorship. Some of the early church fathers believe that there is Pauline influence, however, not Pauline authorship simply for the reason that Hebrews seems to be written by a well educated Greek with elaborate and complex language. There are other suggestions made by scholars, most of which they are unable to support. Lastly, there is discussion concerning Apollos as the author of Hebrews, there are many connections that have been made, such as, Apollos being a Jew and Hebrews showing strong knowledge of Judaism, Apollos being well learned in the Scriptures and the intricate scriptural citations used in Hebrews, among other things. The purpose of his experiment was to understand which aspect of the influence of a majority is more influential the size of the majority or its unanimity (how much they agree vs. the individual)? To hear what it looks and sounds like is unfathomable. No one can understand what Katina was feeling, breaking the deeply rooted bond she had with her child. After the agonizing event with Katina, SeaWorld had again brought heartbreak to a mother from breeding with Kohana. To get and give information All these could be to share experiences, to make choices, to express wishes and choices... 1.2 Explain how communication affects relationships in the work setting. Effective communication in the work place is essential to make sure that information is passed on, to make sure that the client s needs and problems can be assessed properly, if there are any changes that effect the care then it needs to be passed on to the team at work, to build good relationships with your team members and clients. 2.2 Describe ... You could ask the individual themselves this is the most effective way and it encourages the individual to take control. The disadvantages could be that the individual may lack in confidence or they may have communication difficulties. You could read the care plans which can give you information if the individual can t communicate their needs the disadvantages are that the care plan may be out of date and need reviewing, it might not be accurate or may have been written with out much involvement from the individual. You could also talk to the family and friends they may have good information about the individuals the disadvantages are that they may communicate their own wishes and not know the wishes of the individual. 2.3 Describe a range of communication methods and styles to meet individual s needs. • 31. Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) In late 2001, an amateur astronomer happened upon an uncharacteristically bright object in the Monocerotis constellation (Figure 1). Over the next several months the object went through periods of intense brightness the likes of which had rarely been seen before. My research this summer was to use a computer simulation to better understand what may have caused this strange event known as V838 Mon. In order to understand what may have caused the bright outbursts, it is necessary to try and make a model of the event that caused them. To make this model, we implement a Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) code called Starsmasher. The code calculates the movements of many small particles to replicate the movement of a fluid, such as a liquid or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, an ever present goal is to make the simulation more physically accurate to achieve the best results possible without spending too much computation time. The beginning of my research was spent adjusting the conditions to try to fit an outcome that we wanted. The outcomes included how many times the two stars would collide, the times between when the stars collided, and the peak in the brightness of the system. The latter half of my research project was spent primarily trying to improve different aspects of the simulation code. Primarily how transparent the gases should be at different distances to the center of the collision. The transparencies can change how bright the star is measured to be as well as the temperature of the star, two very important sets of data for modelling. It depends on the types of gases and molecules present in the system and the temperature and radiation near those molecules. This gives the simulation a better match to what the astronomers actually observed (Figure 2). I increased the speed of a splotting routine tenfold and we are working on a method to better resolve the distance of different gases in the collision at different times. This faster splot will not only be useful for my research, it will also be used in a majority of future projects carried out in the research ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Costs And Benefits For The 2016 Olympics The Olympic games originated in ancient Greece around the 8th century BC as a contest between city states. The modern Olympics were re started in 1896 by Baron Pierre de Coubertin as a competition between the best athletes from each country. Now countries and cities compete to host the Olympic games, which are held every 4 years, with winter and summer games alternating every two years. In submitting their bids the countries are required to show how hosting the games will deliver a positive economic gain. However, the track record of delivering this gain is not good, sometimes the costs have outweighed the benefits for hosts. Yet cities continue to bid, why? The real motivation seems to be not economic but political; proving that a country has arrived on the international stage or increasing the moral of the population. The 2016 Olympics will be held in Rio but they are facing significant challenges to deliver either the economic or political benefits that have been promised. This paper will look at the costs and benefits for the Rio Olympics and whether they are likely to be delivered? Originally an entirely amateur competition the Olympics have developed into a unique opportunity for media exposure for athletes who would otherwise never have a chance to attain national or international fame. The Games also constitute an opportunity for the host city and country to showcase themselves to the world and for their political leaders the opportunity to polish their ... For the last several years, I ve found myself listening to more and more of this folksy, country like, old sounding music without really knowing what it was. Then, a year or so ago, one of my favorite artists of this style a guy named Sturgill Simpson won a grammy. The title of his album is Metamodern Sounds in Country Music , which perhaps should have been a slight giveaway to the Grammy people as far as what category to nominate his album in. It was not nominated for best country album, however. Instead, it was nominated for best Americana album. I have a good friend who is also a fan of Sturgill s ... Kenneth Branagh s version is approximately three minutes and ten seconds, while Franco Zeffirelli is about three minutes and thirty five seconds. Branagh chose himself to be the star of his own play, while Zeffirelli chose a young Mel Gibson. This soliloquy occurs in Act 3 scene 1. Both of the directors takes on this scene could not have been more different. In the two versions, the physical appearance of Hamlet is practically opposite. Branagh presented himself with bright blonde hair and very strange goatee and mustache, he looks like royalty. To contrast, Mel Gibson looks more like an average person wearing all black. Branagh does not seem insane in that he would take his own life, rather he is enraged and searching for revenge. In this version we are left to wonder if Hamlet is talking to himself or to Polonius and Claudius. This also goes along with the recurring theme of the play, appearance vs reality. In Zeffirelli version, he has Hamlet alone in a dark tomb which symbolizes death and sorrow. This Hamlet is very much contemplating committing suicide. It also emphasizes his great depression. Gender And The Media By Rosalind Gill Book Review of Gender and the Media by Rosalind Gill Gender and the Media by Rosalind Gill addresses gender stereotypes that are brought onto women and men through the media resulting in objectification and subjectification. Gill discusses how the representation of gender is altered as a result of the media in Western societies. Gender and the Media is aimed to address the rapid transmission of media and how those changes affect the construction of feminine and masculine gender roles in society. Gill uses her interest in the contradictions of gender construction by society, to analyze gender and the media. Using feminism as a backbone for her research, Gill and many commentators support the idea that feminist ideas are common and may even affect the media. Gender and the Media addresses multiple forms of media: postfeminism in advertising, gender in the news and journalism, and gender in magazines. Gild aims to address the construction of gender representations, elements for gender analysis, and feminist culture with Gender and the Media. The first section of Gender and the Media addresses gender representations and the beginning of feminism. During the late 60 s and early 70 s, women s rights movements were first introduced with the challenge of the media, prompting them monitor the way the media portrayed women. This portrayal starting in the late 1970 s has seen many transmissions since. Gil states: I use the term feminism to signal a concern with enduring gender ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That s the life of a teenage mom, and to many who think it s not real, it is. Teenage pregnancy is still a very real occurrence in America and there are more than 200,000 babies born each year to teenage moms. Due to the amount of babies born to girls under the age of 19, parenting classes should be a required class in high schools. This parenting class could teach girls the importance of safe sex, how much it costs to raise a baby and also show how much your life can change when you have a child. Parenting classes could teach the importance of safe sex to teenage girls. Many girls in high school take the risk of unprotected sex and to understand this issue we need to look at the statistics. According to www.dosomething.org, 90% of teenage girls who have unprotected sex end up pregnant within just one year. Also according to www.betterhealth.org, 51% of females are sexually active before they get medication contraceptive prescribed by a doctor. 40% of high school seniors also do not use a condom which significantly increases the risk of a pregnancy. With the chance that condoms don t work or if it rips, the change of pregnancy increases. • 37. Health Of The Humber River Watershed By Collecting And... Abstract This study was done to assess the health of the Humber River watershed by collecting and analyzing benthic macro invertebrates. It was predicted that most of the species collected would have high tolerances, and that the percentages of the benthic macro invertebrates would mostly fall in the impaired or potentially impaired categories. Transects were measured out along the stream, and the D net was held along the bottom to catch the invertebrates. Once 100 or more were caught, they were then counted and identified. The Hilsenhof Biotic Index was use to calculate the total tolerance of the organisms collected. The results showed that the distribution of species fell into the potentially impaired category, while the total tolerance was in the unimpaired range. This could be an indicator of a disturbance in the ecosystem that is affecting certain organisms more than others. The study was mostly consistent with the hypothesis. Introduction This study was done to determine the health of the Humber river watershed by testing the water quality. A watershed is a geographical area that drains precipitation and water sources into the same place. Watersheds are essential in supporting ecosystems around them and are vital to both plants and animals. The results of this study could be analyzed and used as an indicator of a healthy or an impaired ecosystem. There are four main reasons that this study was done. A Description of Auditing Auditing is a systematic process of objectively obtaining and evaluating evidence regarding assertions about economic actions and events to ascertain the degree of correspondence between those assertions and established criteria and communicating the results to interested users (Boynton Johnson, 2006). In auditing there are many attributes that describes the auditor s work. Elements of the Generally Accepted Auditing Standards are followed by auditors. The Generally Accepted Auditing Standards apply to financial, operational, and compliance audits. The increased use of antimicrobial agents in the recent years has resulted in the development of resistance to these drugs. Clinical threats have however been minimized by the availability of newer agents (Bonomo Tolmasky 2007). The World Health Organization (WHO) defines antimicrobial resistance as the resistance of a microorganism to an antimicrobial medicine to which it was previously sensitive (WHO 2012).
