The Theories Of Economic Economics
Imagine a peaceful world where nobody argued about anything and everyone was at peace. That
would be nice, but not possible in reality. There is at least two sides to every story, or in this case
two sides to every subject. Economists have different views on the world, and they cannot agree on
a single viewpoint. There is the popular, mainstream economists, known as the neoclassical
economist and there are the heterodox economists which covers the nonmainstream views.
Although the mainstream economicsis the one taught in school, its assumptions are there to achieve
a certain outcome. The heterodox economist s assumptions are based on the fact to eliminate
extraneous factors. I believe that heterodox economicswill start to be considered more in the world
of academics and may take the place of the current mainstream economics.
The theories of consumption have different viewpoints. Neoclassical consumer theory is the
explanation of how consumers allocate incomes to the purchase of different goods and services. In
other words, it is how individuals make choices given their income and the price of goods and
services. This is how the neoclassical economist is able to understand tastes and how income
influences the demand curve. This view is the one that all major textbooks use and the type of
economics that students are taught. In the viewpoint of the neoclassical economist, consumers are
rational decision makers. The consumer behavior is best understood by

Space Shuttle Tragedy
This week s assignment brought back a lot of memories for me. It made me think back to what I
was doing and how this tragedy impacted not only me, but also the United States as a whole. Going
through this simulation gave me a little more insight into what actually happened and how this
tragedy could have possibly been avoided had NASAs management team taken heed to the
engineers and others who advised them to bring in someone to do a complete inspection of the
shuttle. During this simulation, I viewed this tragedy through the eyes of one of the many
engineers that were employed at NASA during this tragic time. I feel that this tragedy was the
result of a combination of leadership and process failures.

Disruptive Behavior Examples
Disruptive behavior
The Ontario College of Physicians and surgeons defined the disruptive behavior as inappropriate
conduct, whether in words or action, that interferes with, or has the potential to interfere with,
quality health care delivery. Disruptive doctors, nurses and most of healthcare employees are found
in almost all hospitals and clinics. Although most observers noticed that only 6% of physicians fall
into this category, the influence of this small percent far outweighs their percentage. Examples of
disruptive behavior are various and includes, shouting, verbal threat, angry outbursts ,throwing
objects, breaking things, unwanted physical contact of a sexual behavior , swearing or any
physical act that would be considered legally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The factors are either endogenous related to the individual or exogenous related to the work
environment. Certain personalities are associated with disrespectful behavior. Self esteem is
extremely important to doctors as it is very related to doctors` perception of their own reputation
and competence. The reason for this is doctors usually spend a huge amount of time and energy
to achieve a great success and reputation so they become more sensitive to anything that may
endanger their self esteem or success. Doctors might react with aggressive personal behavior, if
anyone directly or indirectly tries to touch their self esteem, as a way to confirm their professional
dominance. They could feel insecurity and anxiety especially if they felt that they are prone to
challenges of practicing medicine. Doctors or any healthcare professionals who do not feel
confident about their skills may reflect this anxiety to the coworkers around him in terms of
blaming others or making hypercritical comments. In fact they might overreact blaming themselves
for real or unreal inadequacy, hypercriticize themselves or others. The huge amount of energy and
time doctors spend to succeed professionally make physicians self involved and become
vulnerable to narcissistic character traits. In fact medical narcissism is term used to reflect feeling
of being superior and perfectionism are usually found in healthcare professionals. They believes
that their ideas are special. Due to the acceptance of the teamwork value , this makes physician
frustrated and exhibit more disruptive

Edward Weston s Influence On The World Of Photography Essay
Edward Weston was seen as one of the leading pioneers of photography in the 20th century. His
contribution to the world of photography is one that was able to bring new possibilities to the
field. His style of photography was unique to him at the time and offered the art community very
original works of art. This style of Weston s was one of high resolution and clarity, though it did not
come until midway in his career. Weston would soon collaborate with other artists that shared his
tastes to form the f/64 group. Before becoming the world renowned photographer, Weston started as
a humble and novice photographer (Edward Weston).
As a matter of fact, Weston was interested in photographyfrom an early age. Consequently on his
16th birthday, Weston s father gave him a Kodak Bulls Eye number two camera. This was
Weston s first camera which he began to use to take pictures of his aunt s farm and Chicago
parks. His photo s were average for the time and even landed him an exhibit in the Chicago Art
Institute at the age of 17. Weston then traveled to California and became a surveyor of the land,
which helped him gain an interest in the state and also the landscape. After working in California
for some time, Weston made his way back to Illinois to attend the Illinois College of Photography.
This did not keep Weston away from California for very long though. Within six months, Weston
returned to California and created the Camera Pictorialists of Los Angeles in 1909 (Edward

Francis Macomber
Intentions Unseen The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber by Ernest Hemingway is a story
of a married couple s trip on an African safari for hunting. It is on that trip where the audience
learns of the couple s, who are Francis and Margot Macomber, uneasy relationship. On that trip,
they also meet a character by the name of Robert Wilson, who becomes their guide there. The
story ends tragically with the death of Francis Macomber by being shot in the head by his wife
Margot. At first while reading, one would think Francis death was accidental because the situation
was chaotic, with a buffalo trying to attack them. However, others have said it to be with intent.
Margot Macomber s state of mind was in panic and fear, but her... Show more content on

He finds himself having no fear after that event and claims his manhood at that time. This
change in Francis opinion about himself was recognized by Margot, resulting in her anxiety,
because she realizes that Francis now has the capability to leave her. Having also committed an
act infidelity, there is no escape and no telling what Francis would do next to their relationship.
Margot had always liked having control over Francis, so his sudden courage scares her. An
analysis also states: Though Francis s mate value is greatly increased by his successful shooting
of the buffalo, and evolutionary thinking would lead us to expect that this should benefit his
wife, it is in Margot s case a threat, due primarily to his knowledge of her infidelity (Sugiyama).
This could result in Margot s frustration and believing that the only thing left to do was to kill
him. If she killed him, there was no way for him to divorce her, and she could have his belongings,
including money, to herself. As said by Grant, the relationship between Macomber and Margot is
based on their mutual weaknesses and could not have survived his maturity. Insecurity playing a
role in their relationship was significant. There are particular events in the story that show that
Margot was to blame for Francis death. After Francis was shot, Wilson is telling Margot that she
could have killed him by poison, because that is

Flashback In The Kite Runner
As Amir waited on Sohrab s response to his question which was if Sohrab would acompany Amir
to America his mind drifted back to a winter day from long ago. This flashback I believe pla an
important role in understanding the character of Hassan. Amirs mind flashed back to the image
of Hassan and him sitting on the snow beneath a leafless sour cherry tree. That day was where
Amir playes a cruel joke on hassan by asking him if he would chew dirt to prove his loyalty to
him and Amir said If you asked, I would, but also in responce, Hassan asked Amir if he would
ever ask such a thing which Amir responded he would not. But as Amir say That s the thing about

Examples Of Nick s First Words In The Great Gatsby
What do you think makes a good first impression? A good handshake, eye contact, the way they
are dressed? Authors of books will often use first impressions to show personalities of a
character. F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of those authors. In his book, The Great Gatsby, he uses first
impressions of the characters presented to us to show their personality and how they may act or
be portrayed as in the book. Nick and Daisy both have impressions that are crucial to the story.
When Nick, the main character and narrator, speaks his first words in the book, his first words
show the audience that he is someone who doesn t let go of things as quickly as others and will
always remember what you say. Nicks first words are on the first page of the

Adoration Of The Magi And Bruegi Analysis
The two paintings Adoration of the Magi, by Botticelli, and Peasant wedding, by Pieter Bruegel
the Elder are both Renaissance art works made in the 14th and 15th centuries. Botticelli
completed the Adoration of the Magi during the Italian Renaissance. The piece was
commissioned by Cosimo de Medici and encaptures the Medici family witnessing the birth of
Jesus Christ. Likewise, Pieter Bruegel the Elder completed the painting Pheasant Wedding in
1567, which is a depiction of the local pheasant s daily lifestyle and the simple pleasures it had to
offer. Although at first the two pieces of artwork may appear to be similar in style, they contain
several subtle differences because of the era they came from. For example, Botticelli... Show more

With their family and friends blissfully dining, the peasants depicted in Peasant Wedding manifest
the simple Lutheran religion that was being innovated at the time. The two paintings contrast in this
way because of the indistinct and undeniable religious backgrounds the paintings have.
Although there are many singularities in between the Northern and Southern Renaissance styles
there are distinct similarities in the two artistic communities. One similarity is the the belief in
Humanism that is represented in both the Adoration of the Magi and Peasant Wedding. Humanism
is the belief that stresses the potential value and goodness of human beings and was innovated in
both the Italian and Northern Renaissance. This belief can be seen in the painting Peasant Wedding
by the way that Bruegel the Elder illustrates the congregation of people that had attended the
wedding. Likewise, in The Adoration of the Magi, Botticelli communicates his belief in Humanism
by the way he precisely draws each person in the painting. The two paintings portray the Humanist
beliefs through the precise details in which they paint each person and indicates that they have faith
and trust in the human race.
In southern Renaissance artwork, the subject matter was usually centered and results in drawing the
eyes attention to a certain focal point. Conversely, in northern renaissance art, the placement of the

High School Athletes Should Be Paid
High school is all about having good grades and making sure that all the sporting teams make it to
state. Highs school sports have been around since the late 19th century to the early 20th century.
Since then, students, teachers, and other parts of the community have made sports a priority over
academics. Some parents, administrators, and even teachers are wanting to get high schoolsports
taken away. They say it takes up too much time, cost too much money, and too dangerous. Even
though these things may be true, there are plenty of alternatives to make sure that high school
athletes can live their dream.
Sports may take up a lot of time in an athlete life, but their time is being used for something good
instead of bad. While being on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything in the world cost money, but everyone makes sure that what they enjoy doing gets
the most priority of money spent towards it. The average cost of a high school sport per athlete
is on average $400 (Granata). This does not include any extra sporting gear for the athlete, hotel
money, traveling out of town, or anything else that is not base price. Many parents and other
sport spectators use money as a reason that sports should be taken out of high school because
they see it as too expensive for just a little bit of fame. There has been a tremendous amount of
solutions for funding high school sports. Many coaches around the entire country have come up
with ways to start fundraising to make sure that their sport does not get cut because of funding. A
wrestling coach started a program where the community could rent a wrestler and the wrestling
team would get the benefits, and a football coach at Wilsonville came up with a fundraiser
chicken and bean bowl which would generate $7,000 in donations and raffles (Daschel). There are
many coaches that have gone through the extreme to get money for their sport which shows that
there are ways to fund any sport. Most sports are very expensive, but it should not mean that a
high school student s dream should be taken away. Sports can be perceived as too dangerous, and
that it is taking a

The Cabinet Of Doctor Calligari
Lesson 3 Expressionism is to take a individual view of the world and to distort it radically in
order to invoke a certain mood, feeling, or idea, rather than making an explicit statement. During
the First World War, the imperial government of Germany prohibited all foreign films and
encouraged the production of new film that supported the war effort through propaganda and
distraction. Because the whole idea of expressionist films is to invoke a certain mood in the
viewer and not really make any clear statements, they were the perfect mechanism to distract the
German people from the social stress and economic instability created by the war. There s perhaps
no greater example of expressionist film than The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari by Robert Wiene.
Siegfried Kracauer dubbed the film revolutionary not only because of its expressionist form, but
also because of its political message.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The entire film avoids all sorts of realism by avoiding any strait or perpendicular lines, as well as
distorting many objects, buildings, and backgrounds to invoke certain moods, such as anxiety and
confusion. The expressionist form of this film represents the movement as a whole because, with
every scene, the film is attempting more to create a feeling in the viewer, rather than simply tell a
message. The expressionist movement is about feeling without being told what to feel, which is
exactly what this film

Silence Of The Lambs Film Techniques
2. One technique used in The Silence of the Lambs is cross cutting. The viewer is deliberately
deceive through clever cross cutting between an FBI team preparing to storm a house in Calumet
City, Illinois, and an absolutely livid Bill, thrashing through his basement after having discovered
Catherine has captured his precious poodle at the bottom of the well. It turns out the FBI has
missed its mark and has left Starling alone to face the killer. Playing on Kuleshov s effect, this film
uses juxtaposition as a false sense of security, almost teasing the viewer once we see the tremendous
amount of danger Starling has unknowingly put herself in. The climatic scene that follows has a
number of important techniques. The audience adopts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once she enters the basement, the atmosphere becomes absolute chaos ]. The audience is
barraged with dark shadows and an onslaught of noises, including a dog s barks, Catherine s
screams, the flutter of moths wings, and nail biting music that grows from a murmur to an assault.
Finally, light is momentarily eliminated leaving Starling and the viewer in total darkness, creating
a sense of dread and mind numbing terror. It returns only once the viewer adopts Bill s point of
view, casting his images in the green of night vision goggles. The audience is put in the same
helpless, naked position as Starling. This returns to the age old commentary on voyeurism, how as
viewers, we cannot warn her. All we can do is watch. 3. This film is filled to the brim with
commentary on gender roles. Femininity is under constant attack through the film s narrative. No
better example exists than Starling having to suffer the indignity of having semen tossed at her face
by a mental patient. Starling s quest for professional accomplishment places her in direct opposition
with various inhospitable and uninformed

Safety of Employees in the Industry
There are many jobs in the world that are very dangerous, and might cause serious injury to
employees, such as: police, firefighter, construction, install or repair electrical, and more. Therefore,
employees safety is an essential component of any industry. They want secure that their employee
does not get an accident, or injuring while working. Today, many companies are giving safety
handbook for their employee to follow the rules and get understandable about the safety in the
company. However, to improve the safety for the workers, many industries have developed their
machinery, have their employee to train, and make sure that their workers are working in a good
condition environment.
Improving machinery is the one of the most priority that many industries should have done for
their employees. Back in the 1900s, many were people are dying or having serious injuries to
them because the machines were not built with the detection vibration. For example, in the story,
Monkey Palm , Mr. White s son, Herbert, was killed by the machinery because the technology back
then was not proficient compared today s technology. Nevertheless, today, many machines are
having a monitor vibration inside of it, and the employee will be given a warning if there a missing
part in the machine. Also, it is automatically shutting down the machine before it reaches to the
dangerous level. However, with the monitor vibration today, it will help many employees to protect

Mistakes In The Jonbenet Case
There were many mistakes that was done in the Jonbenet case. They did a poor job into protecting
the crime scene. The first responder even asked john and the neighbor to look all over the house
for anything unusual. That is something you are not supposed to do, them looking around the
house led to the body of Jonbenet and destroyed evidence. Former Boulder policechief, Mark
Beckner, said that first off the policeofficers should have shut down the crimescene immediately
and taken statements from JonBenet s parents. Since the crime occurred on Christmas Day,
Beckner said that there were less people available to get to the scene. It took a long time after the

body would eventually be found. The ransom note was written in interesting way that it would
seem to appear in one of those classic crime films. The ransom note demanded $118,000 to be
given to a foreign faction by 10 a.m. the next day, which was later found out to be the same

Orpheus And Eurydice In Boethius The Consolation Of...
In Boethius The Consolation of Philosophy, he provides in the twelfth poem of his third book, a
summary of the Greek tale of Orpheus and Eurydice. He utilizes the tale to showcase a parallel
between their tragic love and the Christian s relationship with God.
Orpheus yearning for his deceased wife is similar to the strong belief a Christian has for God.
Considering Boethius, and others of his time, viewed God as the embodiment of goodness, the
beginning lines of his poem, Happy, the one who can see/ the clear source of good,/ happy, the
one who can release/ the chains of heavy earth can represent a Christian (Boethius lines 1 4). The
person who is happy is the believer because they can see the source of good which indicate God.
Similarly, the release from earth also implies the necessity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although it is Hades who challenges Orpheus, it can be argued Eurydice sends her lover to hell for
his failure. As stated in the poem, he looked, lost, fell (line 51). He loses Eurydice because he
fails to trust in the person who is behind him and disobeys the order given to him. The moral
message and final line given in this poem is essentially a rewording of the previously cited line,
one loses when one sees the lower worlds (line 58). Yet, there does exist a small difference
between the two lines, in which the final message claims seeing the lower worlds suggest failure.
This line would suggest seeing Eurydice therefore equates to seeing the lower worlds or, in other
words, Hell. Moreover, the reason why Orpheus fails is because of his growing distrust. His
inability to believe Eurydice is behind him parallels the idea of a believer doubting in their God.
Sinners or those who go against God are punished, and to teach Christians, Boethius demonstrates
Orpheus punishment for disobeying the action required of

We learned that if you fill it all the way up with water then there will not be any room for the air
and the rocket has to have air inside of it to shoot. We also learned that you can t poke a hole in it
or when you go to put the air in it, it will go out of the hole in the bottle and not shoot. Kamryn and

The Life Of A Sheep Eater
The Life of a Sheep Eater
I woke suddenly as the cool morning air bit at my face, telling me it was nearly morning and
another day had begun. I am seventeen today which means that today will be the day I ask Alma
s parents if they ll allow us to have a courtship. That was the only thing on my mind when I heard
my father calling me, knowing we needed to eat before we left on a hunt.
Little Wolf, hurry and get out here, we need to get our supplies together before we leave! my father
shouted from outside our temporary wikiup. Hurriedly, I put on my sheep hide leggings and
grabbed my moccasins on the way out. After eating, we grabbed our bows and met with some
other men from the tribe to leave for the busy day ahead. Today s hunting plan was to take fifteen
of our dogs with us and have some men hide higher up in the mountain so that when the sheep
were scared upward, they could shoot and kill them. It was my turn to hide out higher up on the
mountain with Walks Without Sound and Horseless, two of the best bowmen in the tribe. My
father and six other men were at the bottom of the mountain to scare the sheep up to where we
are hidden. I hear the dogs howling and sheep stirring as the sound of my heart beats loudly in
my ears. I feel the adrenaline rushing through my body as a prepare to shoot the first sheep I see.
As we hear them approaching swiftly, we stand with our bows aimed. I release my arrow and hit
the largest sheep in sight. The thud of the body hitting the ground

IPV4
Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) is the fourth version of the Internet Protocol (IP) and it is only
protocol widely used for the communication purpose in the computer networks and it works in
the Internet layer of the OSI reference model. The IPv4 address is 32 bits long. The 32 bit is
divided into four groups. Each group has the eight bits which forms as an octet. Each IP address has
two parts called the network id and the host id. This IP address is used as a unique identification
address for the hosts in the networks. Network ID also known as network address used to identify
the network from the large internetwork. All the computers in the same network will have the
same network ID. Host ID is also known as host address used to identify the host in the same
network. There are five classes of IPv4 address. They are Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D and
Class E. Class A, Class B and Class C are most commonly used, Class D is multicast and Class E
is for the research and the development purpose. These classes of IP addresses are used in different
location based on the network infrastructure.
The first octet in the class A IP address belong to the network part and the remaining three octets

Social Norms Essay
My mother has always told me that certain things should not be done in public. Social norms are
opinions and beliefs that are shared amongst a group. Throughout our lives our parents tell us
things that aren t socially acceptable, and that there are consequences for those actions. Those that
don t act in ways that are socially acceptable are isolated from society. Norms help to guide the
general public by reinforcing it with a punishment in waiting. For my experiment on breaking
norms, I choose to chew with my mouth open in the Clinton Dining Hall, and Subway s eating
area. I was very nervous to break this norm because I was brought up knowing that eating with my

such remarks from my friends and peers. I didn t think anyone would notice me eating with my

them. Many people stared at me as if something was wrong with me and felt uncomfortable with

No more high school, and for some it means that they are able to move on with their life and live
on their own as well as embark on the independent journey of college. In my case, when I think of
family and friends gathering to celebrate a joyous occasion. I feel like I accomplished my strongest
goal. It never occurred to me that graduationwould be the end of my youth and the start of my
adulthood. Graduating from high schoolwas an influential event that gave me an altered outlook on

My friend and I were still waiting for our names to be called out, but as were sitting down my
friend had asked me, Can you believe were graduating already? I replied back, No it s hard to
believe how were going to graduate high school in less than two days. Than finally my principal
called out my name and handed me cap and gown as I quickly took it and just sat there while I
stared at the bright gold color. It s funny how the simplest things can symbolize a whole new
beginning. Second, after I got my cap and gown my friends and I tried it on and took pictures for
the last time, than we went to class and talked about what we were going to wear to graduation
and how we would do our hair and makeup, and where we would meet up so we could all go
together. As our last class ended for the day, I realized how another day was gone and we were a
couple days close to graduation day which made me more anxious as well as excited at the same
time. As I got home I put my cap and gown in my closet and just stood there and stared at it for a
couple minutes as I wondered how fast high school went by and how I would leave all the
memories behind and start a whole new different experience in college. As I stood there,
suddenly someone knocked on the door. As I opened the door my friend was standing right in
front of my porch. I asked her, what are you doing here? she responded, get ready were going to go

The First English Dictionary By Samuel Johnson
Lexicography is a historic practice which has existed for centuries. It is the practice and process
of binding an entire lexicon into a single, readable text. This is a formidable task to undertake.
The original definition of lexicon is as follows: A dictionary; a book teaching the signification of
words (Johnson, 233). The public uses dictionaries as guidebooks for meaningful speech and
discourse. Those who task themselves with creating these texts are called lexicographers. The first
English dictionarywas written by Samuel Johnson in 1755. Johnson shared his views of
lexicographers in his preface to A Dictionary of the English Language :
Among these unhappy mortals is the writer of dictionaries; whom mankind have considered, not
as the pupil, but the slave of science, the pioneer of literature, doomed only to remove rubbish and
clear obstructions from the path of Learning and Genius, who press forward to conquest and glory,
without bestowing a smile on the humble drudge that facilitates their progress. Every other authour
may aspire to praise; the lexicographer can only hope to escape reproach, and even this negative
recompense has been yet granted to very few (Johnson, 3).
Johnson s somewhat dismal description of the pains lexicographers must undergo is very telling of
the innate stress and responsibility of dictionary making. They are held accountable for the
definitions and usage rules of an entire language; this is a respectable undertaking. The process of

Infectio Oral Temperature Analysis
Taking temperature is an integral part of patient care. It is one of the four vital signs and therefore
is an essential piece of information to obtain so that an effective diagnosis can be made, for this
reason the safety and accuracy of the measurement should be a high priority. Temperature is also
considered an essential in hospital observation policy and Early Warning Score (EWS). A normal
temperature ranges from 36.5oC to 37.2oC, however, normal body temperatures may vary due to
many factors such as physical activity, room temperature and eating (Fuzy, 2003). The areas used
for effective temperature measurement are as followed; mouth, rectum, armpit and ear, each
require a different thermometer and method (choose well, nd.). Safely using a thermometer is not

This method is normally performed on those aged five years and above in order to minimise the
risk of damaging the thermometer, and most importantly causing harm to the patient, due to them
biting down on the thermometer causing breakage. This was particularly dangerous when mercury
thermometers were regularly used because of the risk of heavy metal poisons; however as medicine
and technology have progressed the use of digital thermometers has become more common.
Another contraindication to be aware of whilst taking oral temperatures is that the patient must be
able to breathe through their nose, must not have consumed any food or fluids, smoked or be
under oxygen therapy as this may alter the results. This situation may be prevalent especially in A
E departments where long waits can occur as people may make use of vending machines and
smoking areas. As always before a procedure one must verify the patient s identity and ensure
correct materials are being used, for example, digital blue colour coded

Closely Watching Milos
Closely Watched Trains was directed by JiЕ™ГMenzel in Czechoslovakia in 1966. Telling the
story of a boy who obtains a job at the local railroad stop as a station guard, the movie shows the
experience of Milos as he explores sexuality and growing up.The film shows Milos before he gains
his manhood as weak, unintelligent, and isolated from the other men. Using techniques such as
cross cutting and low angles, the director is able to show how after losing his virginity, Milos is no
longer foolish and innocent and his newfound manhood causes him to have the qualities that
parallel what is respected by the Soviet community, such as intelligence and confidence allowing
him to blow up a Nazi trainand become a hero. Throughout the majority of the film, Milos is
depicted as a simple, fragile teen. The film opens with a scene in which his mother is dressing
his for his first day of work. The director pans from his feet to his head, ending with a close up
shot so we can see the entirety of Milos and his nerves on his face as he heads into work. When
he gets to work and sits at a desk, the filmmaker uses jump cuts to show different actions going on
around the room and then cuts to Milos looking around. This shows the audience how Milos is
innocent and daydreaming as opposed to doing the work he should be doing. He seems childlike
and foolish as he can not maintain focus on his work. As the film progresses, the director employs

A Student s Academic Success
A college campus is purposefully built to help students succeed. Many campuses include a library,
sports fields, computer labs, a gym, among other shops, food vendors, and resources for students.
It is safe to make the claim that a college library is the most useful building on a college campus.
Everything a student needs to succeed can be found in the library. From the quiet atmosphere, to
the useful resources, and helpful staff and students, the library contributes a large part to a student s
academic success at Cumberland County College. As part of a student s academic success, he or she
must feel comfortable in his or her working environment. The college library provides the perfect
atmosphere to fulfill wide variety of student needs. Every student has a different study technique,
some prefer a quiet, low stress atmosphere, while others prefer to have music and Facebook as
constant background noise. Both types students have an equally opportunity to be successful, if
given the proper study environment. A college library is universal in the types of students that it
can accommodate. Group learners have the opportunity to reserve a group work room where
they can talk, argue, yell, and better themselves as learners; meanwhile, independent learners can
find safety at a private study desk that is so quiet a pin drop could be heard. In addition to the
diverse atmospheres offered in the library, the room is built to feel calm. The walls and floors are

The Vikings were known for being marvelous explorers and the authors of the sagas may have
wanted to demonstrate why the Vikings were these great explorers by writing about the various
new lands that they had discovered. Another reason why the authors wrote the Vinland Sags may
have been to honor their ancestors and heritage since the sagas is directed towards an audience of
Norse people. These sagas can be viewed as historical texts by the Norse people of Greenland and
Iceland to explain the history of their culture. For example, the audience can understand why Leif
Eirikson spread Christianity in Greenland, which can also explain why the people of Greenland
practice the faith that they do.
The Vinland Sagas take place between 970 to 1280 CE, but were not written down by scholars until
the thirteenth century. When it comes down to questioning the reliability of the Vinland Sagas, it
ultimately depends on asking what the Vinland Sagas are reliable for. One can see this as a reliable
source to understand how the Norse people created their societies and settlements.

A Good Man Is Hard For Find By Flannery O Connor
In A Good Man Is Hard to Find , Flannery O Connor presents to the readers an uncanny encounter
between a murderer named The Misfit and a grandmother. The two characters when first
introduced seem to be antithesis of each other. This misfit is described as a murderer who seems to
have no morals or feelings, while the grandmother seems to embody a good Christian woman.
Throughout the plot, it is known that the misfit is not much of a believer and the grandmother is.
Due to the fact that O Connor wrote a lot about religion, it is not hard to figure out the connection
she tries to make between the characters and religion. In A Good Man Is Hard to Find , Flannery
O Connor uses both the misfit s and the grandmother s circumstances and behavior in order to show
the readers how the old and new generations feel towards religion. Throughout the plot she uses the
Misfit to portray the new generation and uses the grandmother to portray the older generation. O
Connor talks about the generations in such ways that show that the older generations seemed to
believe heavily in religion but in the wrong way, and the new generation is misguided with little to
no religious affiliations. From the beginning, the grandmother seems to be an old fashioned
southern lady who is the epitome of a good Christian woman. She puts up a front that makes her
seem like a true Christian, when in reality she is not really strong in her beliefs up until her
confrontation with the misfit. Before the

anesthesiologist that she is shadowing. The student was asked to monitor vitals during a knee
surgery. The patient was given Halothane and the surgery began. After two hours in surgery, the
patient, who was a young athletic female named Sharon Riley, began to show signs of distress.
This patient s temperature elevated to 105 В°F and pulse began to rise up to 120 bpm, and her
blood pressure began to drop down to 60/56 mmHg. This triggers the monitors alarm because

Describe the pathophysiology. It is possible that the Halothane triggered a genetically predisposed
condition called Malignant hyperthermia (MH) in the patient Sharon who was having surgery on
her knee. Sharon presented with symptoms 2 hours after administration of inhaled Halothane. She
had a temperature that elevated to 105 degrees, increased heart rate of 120 bpm and low blood
pressure of 60/56. All of these symptoms are abnormal for this patient but can be signs of the
condition MH. This condition can be triggered by exposure to volatile inhaled anesthesia drugs like
Halothane and signs can be seen during surgery or shortly after surgery (library book, pg510). MH
alters the calcium channel in the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) and this allows large quantity of
calcium to be released from the SR creating hyper action in skeletal muscle; this reaction increases
oxygen consumption and increased heat production that ultimately leads to a hypermetabolic state
after the inhaled Halothane has triggered the condition (Knies). The continuous elevation of
calcium also causes excessive stimulation of anaerobic glycolytic metabolism. This creates
respiratory and metabolic acidosis, rigidity (muscle contractions), and hyperkalemia (elevated
potassium) and can ultimately lead to death

Historical Trauma In Claudia Llosa s The Milk Of Sorrow
In Claudia Llosa s The Milk of Sorrow, a girl from the Andes named Fausta has an odd disease
contracted from her mother s milk. Because her mother was raped and tortured during the
Peruvian Civil War with Fausta in her womb, the mother s milk is contaminated with the disease,
according to the local people. This condition causes symptoms such as rarely leaving one s home
by will, avoiding men, rarely speaking, and walking close to the walls of houses for fear of having
one s soul stolen. In the film, Fausta undergoes a journey to empower herself to cure this disease
and create a voice for herself. Through the use of central recurring symbols, Fausta s actions, and
the interactions of the people around her, the film suggests that historical trauma, if left unchecked,
can negatively influence the person with trauma, the people around them, and even generations to
come.
Perhaps most obvious and prominent recurring symbol can be found in the title of the film. Fausta
s disease is known as the milk of sorrow and is a direct manifestation of her trauma. The condition
is widely known in her town and is treated as contagious. It is either contracted by sexual assault
when the victim is pregnant or touching the nipple of an already infected person, linking the
disease to historical trauma. Her nosebleeds, according to her uncle, are attributed to the disease.
Ironically, they occur whenever Fausta is present in a scene with wedding imagery or male
symbols such as a drill, further

Issues Of The Modeling Industry
Issues in the Modeling Industry Fashion is everything to society and the media, but everyone
wants to look good while feeling beautiful in their own way. Everyone believes that fashion is an
easy, fashionable, and sophisticated style. Today, the modeling industry has become negative for
older and younger women. The people in the industry do not prefer unhealthy body images such as
pictures of overweight women. Women suffer from depression and anxiety. The modeling industry
has been very harmful towards women in America. It effects women by not achieving a healthy,
being strong, and confident body image regardless of shape and size.
Having a skinny body is very important in the modeling industry. Bigger women always get turned
down. This makes them feel unhealthy and not as beautiful as the other women that are modeling.
The hard part for models is to keep their weight down to a certain number, otherwise, they are not
allowed to model anymore. Today, in America many women are suffering from eating disorders,
and other negative behaviors which make women do things to their body that they should not do.
Men are attracted to healthy women regardless if the woman is older. Most modeling agencies
prefer skinny women because they believe having smaller women as models would attract men
there to support them. The media thinks being overweight is ugly which is unfair for bigger
women because women of any size should be able to model. The media shows thin women on

Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening Analysis
In the modern day world there is an ongoing argument whether love is good or bad in nature.
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening is a simple poem that was not originally written to create
an underlying message of love, but due to the popularity of Robert Frost s work it has and still is
being critiqued comprehensively. This paper will prove that Robert Frostis not referring to loving
another person in particular but the narrator s peaceful surroundings in the woods. Although, the
literary techniques used in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening create a peaceful environment
for the reader, the stop in the wilderness creates a dilemma with the narrator s state of mind.
Having considered the case of love the narrator is feeling, it is evident of what is being adored in
this poem. The title alone alerts the reader of the place, setting and the basic theme of the story. The
woods seem to exhibit a calmness and tranquility that encourages the protagonist to stop his journey
and rest and in reality, the wilderness represents madness and darkness in the world. Frost opens the
first stanza with the self conscious narrator thinking to himself, Whose woods these are I think I
know. His house is in the village though (1 2). The man s insecurity naturally causes him to be
uneasy but the solitude in the woods creates the affection that awes him. Since this story is told
from the narrator s point of view, the reader can now infer that the protagonist is not thinking

Dysfunctional Families in Revolutionary Road and Anna...
Dysfunction within an individual can be the result of various occurrences, whether it is a traumatic
experience that has stemmed into a life of self doubt and vulnerability, or it is a series of
unfortunate events that has led the individual to believe that life is simply an ongoing controversy.
However, dysfunction within a familyis much more than self afflicted stress, it is rooted within the
familial bonds that gradually break as a result of conflict, co dependent adults, perhaps substance
abuse, and oftentimes a struggle of conformity brought on by an external source. In the novels
Revolutionary Road and Anna Karenina, Richard Yates and Leo Tolstoy depict familial dysfunction
that can occur as a result of society s overwhelming... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, to fundamentally comprehend this gist of this essay, one must primarily understand
the definition of a dysfunctional family to be able to dissect the topic and see how the novels Anna
Karenina and Revolutionary Road personify the description.
Louise Mark, John Olesen, Joanne Fallon explain in A manual for chemical dependency and
psychiatric treatment that, Most of our rules are learned from our parents, who learned the rules
from their parents etc. This means that dysfunctional families are generational, and if left
untreated, will become more severe in ensuing generations (Mark, Olesen, Fallon, 67). These
scholars explain that dysfunctional families result from several generations of corrupted laws,
thus, one s ancestors set the standards and following generations have simply carried on the
customs. The scholars go on to compare and contrast several traits that categorize a family as
dysfunctional as opposed to nurturing, and one of the prominent qualities seem to be everyone
must conform to strongest person s ideas and values (97). This quality is clearly identifiable in
both Yates and Tolstoy s novels, as the root of the familial

Miami Heat Argumentative Essay
Rumors are swirling around the web that the Miami Heat is eyeing 5 free agent players who can
helped them improve their 3 point shooting skills. Although, the Miami heat were doing better,
finishing 27th in the last season in 3 point field goal percentage at 33.6 percent. But for the Heat
these all figures are not enough, today s ballgames have evolved into something different where
most NBA teams value the 3 point shots more than ever. They now seeing the 3 point shots as a
potential deadly weapon, a kind of weapon that has the potential to win a game. So how can this
South beach team like the Miami Heatcan improve their 3 point shooting season this offseason? The
answer lies to the players, the Heat needs something very good, something... Show more content on

The 6 foot 8 inches Charlotte Hornets shooting guard has been regarded by many in the NBA as
a skilled defensive player, and one of the NBA s best executors of the chase down block. The
chase down block has always been a part of Batum s game and it s a terrible weapon for the Heat
especially when they are playing defense. Currently, there are only two players in the 2012 13
season who did not play center or power forward had more blocks than Batum, its Houston Rockets
Josh Smith and Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder.[27]
The 27 year old shooting guard has a career 36 percent shooter from long range, but acquiring
Batum could be expensive for the Heat, though, as he could command a max contract this
offseason due to the increase in the NBA salary cap. Overall, it s still a smart move for the Heat.
Forward Ryan Anderson is another key player for the Heat. The 28 years old forward has been
considered by many as one of the most dangerous shooters in the NBA league, finishing 10th
among all NBA rookies in three point field goal percentage (.365 69 of 189). Anderson has a career
37.7 percent shooter from 3 point

  • 2. The Theories Of Economic Economics Imagine a peaceful world where nobody argued about anything and everyone was at peace. That would be nice, but not possible in reality. There is at least two sides to every story, or in this case two sides to every subject. Economists have different views on the world, and they cannot agree on a single viewpoint. There is the popular, mainstream economists, known as the neoclassical economist and there are the heterodox economists which covers the nonmainstream views. Although the mainstream economicsis the one taught in school, its assumptions are there to achieve a certain outcome. The heterodox economist s assumptions are based on the fact to eliminate extraneous factors. I believe that heterodox economicswill start to be considered more in the world of academics and may take the place of the current mainstream economics. The theories of consumption have different viewpoints. Neoclassical consumer theory is the explanation of how consumers allocate incomes to the purchase of different goods and services. In other words, it is how individuals make choices given their income and the price of goods and services. This is how the neoclassical economist is able to understand tastes and how income influences the demand curve. This view is the one that all major textbooks use and the type of economics that students are taught. In the viewpoint of the neoclassical economist, consumers are rational decision makers. The consumer behavior is best understood by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It made me think back to what I was doing and how this tragedy impacted not only me, but also the United States as a whole. Going through this simulation gave me a little more insight into what actually happened and how this tragedy could have possibly been avoided had NASAs management team taken heed to the engineers and others who advised them to bring in someone to do a complete inspection of the shuttle. During this simulation, I viewed this tragedy through the eyes of one of the many engineers that were employed at NASA during this tragic time. I feel that this tragedy was the result of a combination of leadership and process failures. According to Bohmer, Edmondson and Roberto ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Disruptive doctors, nurses and most of healthcare employees are found in almost all hospitals and clinics. Although most observers noticed that only 6% of physicians fall into this category, the influence of this small percent far outweighs their percentage. Certain personalities are associated with disrespectful behavior. Self esteem is extremely important to doctors as it is very related to doctors` perception of their own reputation and competence. The reason for this is doctors usually spend a huge amount of time and energy to achieve a great success and reputation so they become more sensitive to anything that may endanger their self esteem or success. Doctors might react with aggressive personal behavior, if anyone directly or indirectly tries to touch their self esteem, as a way to confirm their professional dominance. They could feel insecurity and anxiety especially if they felt that they are prone to challenges of practicing medicine. Doctors or any healthcare professionals who do not feel confident about their skills may reflect this anxiety to the coworkers around him in terms of blaming others or making hypercritical comments. • 5. Edward Weston s Influence On The World Of Photography Essay Edward Weston was seen as one of the leading pioneers of photography in the 20th century. His contribution to the world of photography is one that was able to bring new possibilities to the field. His style of photography was unique to him at the time and offered the art community very original works of art. This style of Weston s was one of high resolution and clarity, though it did not come until midway in his career. Weston would soon collaborate with other artists that shared his tastes to form the f/64 group. Before becoming the world renowned photographer, Weston started as a humble and novice photographer (Edward Weston). As a matter of fact, Weston was interested in photographyfrom an early age. Consequently on his 16th birthday, Weston s father gave him a Kodak Bulls Eye number two camera. This was Weston s first camera which he began to use to take pictures of his aunt s farm and Chicago parks. His photo s were average for the time and even landed him an exhibit in the Chicago Art Institute at the age of 17. Weston then traveled to California and became a surveyor of the land, which helped him gain an interest in the state and also the landscape. After working in California for some time, Weston made his way back to Illinois to attend the Illinois College of Photography. This did not keep Weston away from California for very long though. It is on that trip where the audience learns of the couple s, who are Francis and Margot Macomber, uneasy relationship. On that trip, they also meet a character by the name of Robert Wilson, who becomes their guide there. The story ends tragically with the death of Francis Macomber by being shot in the head by his wife Margot. Margot had always liked having control over Francis, so his sudden courage scares her. If she killed him, there was no way for him to divorce her, and she could have his belongings, including money, to herself. As said by Grant, the relationship between Macomber and Margot is based on their mutual weaknesses and could not have survived his maturity. • 9. Adoration Of The Magi And Bruegi Analysis The two paintings Adoration of the Magi, by Botticelli, and Peasant wedding, by Pieter Bruegel the Elder are both Renaissance art works made in the 14th and 15th centuries. Botticelli completed the Adoration of the Magi during the Italian Renaissance. The piece was commissioned by Cosimo de Medici and encaptures the Medici family witnessing the birth of Jesus Christ. Likewise, Pieter Bruegel the Elder completed the painting Pheasant Wedding in 1567, which is a depiction of the local pheasant s daily lifestyle and the simple pleasures it had to offer. Although at first the two pieces of artwork may appear to be similar in style, they contain several subtle differences because of the era they came from. For example, Botticelli... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With their family and friends blissfully dining, the peasants depicted in Peasant Wedding manifest the simple Lutheran religion that was being innovated at the time. The two paintings contrast in this way because of the indistinct and undeniable religious backgrounds the paintings have. Although there are many singularities in between the Northern and Southern Renaissance styles there are distinct similarities in the two artistic communities. One similarity is the the belief in Humanism that is represented in both the Adoration of the Magi and Peasant Wedding. Humanism is the belief that stresses the potential value and goodness of human beings and was innovated in both the Italian and Northern Renaissance. This belief can be seen in the painting Peasant Wedding by the way that Bruegel the Elder illustrates the congregation of people that had attended the wedding. Highs school sports have been around since the late 19th century to the early 20th century. Since then, students, teachers, and other parts of the community have made sports a priority over academics. Some parents, administrators, and even teachers are wanting to get high schoolsports taken away. They say it takes up too much time, cost too much money, and too dangerous. There has been a tremendous amount of solutions for funding high school sports. Many coaches around the entire country have come up with ways to start fundraising to make sure that their sport does not get cut because of funding. A wrestling coach started a program where the community could rent a wrestler and the wrestling team would get the benefits, and a football coach at Wilsonville came up with a fundraiser chicken and bean bowl which would generate $7,000 in donations and raffles (Daschel). There are many coaches that have gone through the extreme to get money for their sport which shows that there are ways to fund any sport. • 12. The Cabinet Of Doctor Calligari Lesson 3 Expressionism is to take a individual view of the world and to distort it radically in order to invoke a certain mood, feeling, or idea, rather than making an explicit statement. During the First World War, the imperial government of Germany prohibited all foreign films and encouraged the production of new film that supported the war effort through propaganda and distraction. Because the whole idea of expressionist films is to invoke a certain mood in the viewer and not really make any clear statements, they were the perfect mechanism to distract the German people from the social stress and economic instability created by the war. In Boethius The Consolation of Philosophy, he provides in the twelfth poem of his third book, a summary of the Greek tale of Orpheus and Eurydice. He utilizes the tale to showcase a parallel between their tragic love and the Christian s relationship with God. Orpheus yearning for his deceased wife is similar to the strong belief a Christian has for God. Considering Boethius, and others of his time, viewed God as the embodiment of goodness, the beginning lines of his poem, Happy, the one who can see/ the clear source of good,/ happy, the one who can release/ the chains of heavy earth can represent a Christian (Boethius lines 1 4). As stated in the poem, he looked, lost, fell (line 51). He loses Eurydice because he fails to trust in the person who is behind him and disobeys the order given to him. The moral message and final line given in this poem is essentially a rewording of the previously cited line, one loses when one sees the lower worlds (line 58). Yet, there does exist a small difference between the two lines, in which the final message claims seeing the lower worlds suggest failure. This line would suggest seeing Eurydice therefore equates to seeing the lower worlds or, in other words, Hell. Moreover, the reason why Orpheus fails is because of his growing distrust. His inability to believe Eurydice is behind him parallels the idea of a believer doubting in their God. • 25. The First English Dictionary By Samuel Johnson Lexicography is a historic practice which has existed for centuries. It is the practice and process of binding an entire lexicon into a single, readable text. This is a formidable task to undertake. The original definition of lexicon is as follows: A dictionary; a book teaching the signification of words (Johnson, 233). The public uses dictionaries as guidebooks for meaningful speech and discourse. Those who task themselves with creating these texts are called lexicographers. The first English dictionarywas written by Samuel Johnson in 1755. Johnson shared his views of lexicographers in his preface to A Dictionary of the English Language : Among these unhappy mortals is the writer of dictionaries; whom mankind have considered, not as the pupil, but the slave of science, the pioneer of literature, doomed only to remove rubbish and clear obstructions from the path of Learning and Genius, who press forward to conquest and glory, without bestowing a smile on the humble drudge that facilitates their progress. Every other authour may aspire to praise; the lexicographer can only hope to escape reproach, and even this negative recompense has been yet granted to very few (Johnson, 3). Johnson s somewhat dismal description of the pains lexicographers must undergo is very telling of the innate stress and responsibility of dictionary making. It is possible that the Halothane triggered a genetically predisposed condition called Malignant hyperthermia (MH) in the patient Sharon who was having surgery on her knee. Sharon presented with symptoms 2 hours after administration of inhaled Halothane. She had a temperature that elevated to 105 degrees, increased heart rate of 120 bpm and low blood pressure of 60/56. All of these symptoms are abnormal for this patient but can be signs of the condition MH. This condition can be triggered by exposure to volatile inhaled anesthesia drugs like Halothane and signs can be seen during surgery or shortly after surgery (library book, pg510). MH alters the calcium channel in the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) and this allows large quantity of calcium to be released from the SR creating hyper action in skeletal muscle; this reaction increases oxygen consumption and increased heat production that ultimately leads to a hypermetabolic state after the inhaled Halothane has triggered the condition (Knies). The continuous elevation of calcium also causes excessive stimulation of anaerobic glycolytic metabolism. This creates respiratory and metabolic acidosis, rigidity (muscle contractions), and hyperkalemia (elevated potassium) and can ultimately lead to death ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is either contracted by sexual assault when the victim is pregnant or touching the nipple of an already infected person, linking the disease to historical trauma. Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening is a simple poem that was not originally written to create an underlying message of love, but due to the popularity of Robert Frost s work it has and still is being critiqued comprehensively. This paper will prove that Robert Frostis not referring to loving another person in particular but the narrator s peaceful surroundings in the woods. Although, the literary techniques used in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening create a peaceful environment for the reader, the stop in the wilderness creates a dilemma with the narrator s state of mind.
