Vulnerability and Risk Guided by: Dr. Janki Andharia Prepared By: Pratap Khunti Enrolment no:
M2015DM041 Introduction Disaster: A disaster is a sudden, calamitous event that seriously disrupts
the functioning of a community or society and causes human, material, and economic or
environmental losses that exceed the community s or society s ability to cope using its own resources.
(IFRC, what is a disaster?, 2015) Vulnerability: Vulnerability in this context can be defined as the
diminished capacity of an individual or group to anticipate, cope with, resist and recover from the
impact of a natural or man made hazard. The concept is relative and dynamic. Vulnerability is most
often associated with poverty, but it can also arise when people are isolated, insecure and defenceless
in the face of risk, shock or stress. (IFRC, what is vulnerability?, 2015). There are different theories
and models which explain the concept of vulnerabilities in different ways. Of them one of the model
which is as under is Risk Hazard (RH) model (diagram after Turner et al., 2003), shows the impact of
a hazards as a functions of exposure and sensitivity. Hazard: A hazard is a situation that poses a level

Cause And Effect Of A Tornado
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) states that a tornado forms when a
rotating column of air that meets up with a thunderstorm and hits the ground. (HR Byers,
Compendium of Meteorology, pp 681 693) About each year there are about 1,000 tornadoes. A scale
called enhanced Fujita (EF) is used to measure the intensity of the tornado. There is a number given to
the tornado from 0 5 and that number depends on the wind damage. The wind damage is scaled upon
what was hit such as trees and buildings. A report from Lloyds of London from 2013 states that the
United States has more tornadoes than anywhere else in the world.
A thunderstorm is made when the air is unstable and moist, and it is lifted into the atmosphere in a
vertical line. The air is lifted because latent heat and condensation releases into the heat. Adiabatic
expansion happens when after the start of the lifted air the part of the moist warm air starts to cool.
Once the air reaches a higher elevation the cumulous cloud is formed and then the dew point reaches a
higher point. When this happens, condensation is made. The cumulous cloud will change into a
thunderstorm.
When a storm is called a supercell thunderstorm, the updrafts are stronger. When these storms are
strong a vortex of air is made. Before a tornado is made, it is a mesocyclone and it can be as wide as 2
6 miles. After a mesocyclone is made, there a 50% chance that a tornado will happen in about 30
minutes.
If the air has low

Designing AAutomation System Of The Appliances Located At...
We are proposing a automation system that allows multiple users to control the appliances located at
home or in any infrastructure through android application and from remote location. The system has 3
component those are mobile application to send message to hardware, second is server which stores
data related to user that can be user id, password, username, mail address of user, which also
maintains the update of messages those are sent to hardware, third one is arduino uno kit placed at
home or any infrastructure which actually controls appliances.
Keywords: : arduino uno board, cloud, android application, web server.
1. INTRODUCTION
Generally, when we go out of the house or company or any infrastructure we switch off the light or the
electrical equipments to avoid accidents such as short circuit, firing etc. but sometimes we forget to
switch off, so to do this we have to come back . This is wastage of time and creates lots of chaos and
tension. [6]So to avoid such kind of situation the latest technology coming up worldwide is the smart
home technology this comes under IOT. IOT offers huge number of applications in various
environments for improving the quality of our lives. Smart home is one in which all electrical
equipment around the home technologically automated with highly advanced automatic system. Smart
home is useful for everyone and can also be used in everyday life at home or company or any
infrastructure. Smart home is consisting of three parts

How People Make Economic Decisions Paper
Eco/212
September 28, 2010
Making Economic Decisions Economic decisions made by individuals can affect the economy. The
principles of individual decision making include people being rational, economic incentives, and
optimal decisions made at the margin. Trading the three economic systems are market economy,
centrally planned economy, and mixed economy. Each contains their own attributes on how they
contribute to an economy. The current economic system in the United States is a mixed economy.
Individual Decision making People try to be rational. It means that economists assume that consumers

Opportunity cost is the highest valued alternative that must be given up to engage in an activity
(Hubbard, amp; O Brien, 2010). In some respect, it is an individual s marginal cost versus marginal
benefit. Questions such as what is to be produced, how will it be produced, who is receiving the goods
need to be answered.
Types of Economies These questions are answered by different kind of economies. The general
population drives market economies. Goods and services are in supply as much as they are in demand
unless there is some sort of constraint. Government drives centrally planned economies as they dictate
how much of a product and service are produced. These economies are usually run by dictatorships or
communism. Last, there is mixed economy. The United States is a mixed economy as the general
population runs the market demand and supply. However, the government regulates some products
and goods. Government intervention has occurred recently after the British Petroleum oilrig exploded
off the shore of Louisiana. President Obama placed a ban on any further offshore drilling sites close to
the coast. We ve placed a six month moratorium on drilling new deepwater oil and gas wells in the
Outer Continental Shelf (Obama, 2010). This may raise costs in oil products in the future because of a
shorter supply.

Economic decisions come with an opportunity cost. Individuals need

Athletic Bathroom Observation
On Saturday November 4th, I visited Maine South High School to observe the athletic training room
facility. I had emailed the Head Athletic Trainer, Jerry Bornhoff prior to my attendance to make sure I
was allowed to shadow him for the day. A Maine South football game was scheduled for the
afternoon, and the facility was packed with football players. Throughout the time I was there, I made
sure I noted the whole process of an athlete from when they first arrived and when they left the
training room facility. The Maine South football game was scheduled for 2 o clock, and players were
arriving two hours prior to get taped up and rolled out. When players first arrived, they were directed

Persuasive Speech On You Are Alone
You are alone in a room. You have 2 minutes till your death. You have a phone. Do you make a call?
Who do you call?
Growing up I was led to believe that when you die it will be of old age, in a hospital bed with loved
ones surrounding you. You are able to say goodbye to those you care for and tell them what you have
been waiting and wanting to say. Even if they aren t there it is important to let them know everything
and tell them what they mean to you. And no, this isn t just so you feel better about yourself it is one
of you last acts on this earth, your last chance to say what needs to be said to those that matter to you.
It isn t something that is normally talked about but it needs to be, it is something that will happen to
just about everyone and you need to be prepared.
Guaranteed, this is the hardest thing you will EVER have to do. You can t avoid it, it is something you
will have to do. Many people believe that you should not make this contact to your family, you should
just leave them alone. I think different. This is the last time they will ever hear your voice or read your
message. This small act reflects who you are and is a part of you that will stay with those people
forever. For those people that were tragically lost in the twin towers attacks, this a decision they were
faced with. Many of their families had to answer or listen to these calls that their loved ones left that
they are now so thank full of as all I needed was that message, and I think that he

Lewis Mere Christianity
Lewis discusses the difficult topics of atonement and the Christian life within chapters four and five of
Mere Christianity. Lewis maintains his mere Christianity explanation of the topics by not focusing on
the multiple theories, by not diving deeper into explanations that will never be fully adequate for
Earthly beings, and by focusing on what is true across all denominations of Christianity; he focuses on
what is true for mere Christianity. I find his approach to the doctrines of atonement and the Christian
life to be strong. He does not give those who doubt an escape from accepting the truth. Lewis does not
focus on the multiple theories and warns the reader against focusing on the theories and not on what
all Christians agree upon. He states The central Christian belief is that Christ s death has somehow put
us right with God and given us a fresh start. Theories as to how it did this are another matter. A good

This focus on commonality is evident when mentions his Methodist friend disagreeing to which of the
three things that spread the Christ life to us should be emphasized over the others. Lewis instead
concentrates on the fact that Christians in general all agree that the three are important. He does not
get into a detailed debate on which of the three is most important because he wants to maintain what is
true to mere Christianity. Lewis knows that he believes that these three things are important to
Christianity but is unable to explain why. By admitting that he cannot explain why, he is allowing the
reader to form their own opinion or theory; but he is not allowing room for them not to believe in the
three things and in the truth, which is Christianity. Lewis upholds his focus on mere Christianity by
not focusing on a certain denomination s beliefs, but he focuses on what is accepted by Christians, of
all sects, as a

Essay about Teaching Goals and Philosophy
Teaching Goals and Philosophy
Entering the field of education requires a person to take on many very important responsibilities.
Teachers play a very vital role in the lives and futures of many individuals. Through the perspective of
a teacher, many students come and go year after year. The names and faces of many students are often
forgotten as you enter and new year with new students, new faces, and new names. On the other hand,
although educators encounter many more students then students do educators, a teacher has a much
more substantial impact on the life of a student. Upon taking this into consideration, I was led to ask
myself many important questions. What do I hope to accomplish as a teacher? What do I wish ... Show

This child needs to be reassured that this is okay, everyone learns by different methods and at different
rates. For some students, encouragement is very important. For example, if a child is not receiving the
necessary encouragement from his or her parents to do well in school, then they may not see the
importance in it.
More time and attention should be given to those students who need it. Teachers should pay attention
to the special needs of their students and do whatever they can do to fulfill them. While some students
are more independent and seem to have no problems studying and progressing with the material given
to them, others need to be instructed and guided on a one on one basis by the teacher at whatever pace
suits them yet challenges them.
Also, agreeing with the Pragmatic method, I feel strongly about hands on approach to learning. I think
that students develop a fuller understanding of how things work when this approach is used. I see
methods such as experimentation and problem solving to be very beneficial; it promotes interest and
comprehension.
I also feel that a classroom should be a very comfortable, non threatening, and inviting environment.
Children shouldn t have to dread going to school, but should see it as an opportunity to better
themselves and their future.
As for curriculum, I feel that a variety of subjects should be taught. Such as: History, Math and

Importance Of Coming Of Age Experience
College always seems to find a way to the back of student minds. Every single one of them wondering
if college is worth the time and energy. College have opened many doors for people who went to
college and graduated than the ones that did not. The ones who already experienced college report
how the experience helped them shape themselves. They also claim that their college experience made
them confront many different challenges that they later again experienced in the real world . Even
though some individuals think that college is not a coming of age experience, it has been proven that
college is an important coming of age experience because it makes students realize some of life s
obstacles and help them prepare for their future journey called life.
College is an important coming of age experience because young adults confront some of life s
challenges earlier. Mrs. Henderson, a former teacher at Desert Pines High School, spoke how college
was a challenging event in her life, but that the benefits will show at the end (Henderson). Mrs.
Henderson also explained how college made her feel much more confident in herself when she
showed up for job interviews (Henderson). College has helped many overcome their insecurities and
worries about becoming an independent adult, a challenge that they probably will face in their life.
College also helps young adults become more open minded about their surroundings and the
advantages that life provides them. In the passage, My

Legalizing All Drugs Should Solve A Lot Of Our Country s...
There are many people that are conflicted in this country on how to properly deal with the issue of
drugs and how they should be handled. There are some people that firmly believe that legalizing all
drugs will solve a lot of our country s problems. The advocates for legalizing drugs believe that this
would benefit everyone by making our streets and homes much safer due to the fact that drug addicts
will do anything for their next fix . Drug prices increase with the restriction of drugs by law
enforcement and the addicts are desperate for money and will commit a string of muggings, burglary
of homes and cars or even murder to finance their habits. The higher the price of their drug the more
they will need to steal to buy their supply. Drug dealers are also in possession of very valuable
property and are a big target for assaults and even murder to steal the dealers money or drugs that they
have on them at the time. The drug gangs also compete over areas to peddle their drugs with other
drug dealers which lead to violence and murder between the dealers. If drugs are legalized then the
drug prices will plummet and there will be no need for the addicts to commit crimes or murder to get
ahold of their drugs. The drug dealers on the streets will be forced out of work by the retail marketing
of drugs by reputable and well known retailers. If drugs were legalized some people believe that crime
on the streets and possibly in our own homes will decrease. Legalization of

Stand up comedy industry Essay
Title Stand up comedy industry
Thesis 1: From an industrial organization point of view, the stand up comedy market structure in the
1980s can be characterized as an oligopoly
The structure of a market, thus how a market is functioning, is the concept behind the industrial
organization theory . The Industrial Organization (IO) theory is about, how a structure of a market has
an influence on the strategy and decision making of a company. 1 The theory therefore focusses on the
market wherein the company operates and links the decisions of the company to the market. In the
economic theory of industrial organisation, an industry can be defined according to several different
criteria.2 According to Throsby, there are three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1975 such a diachronic dialectic was found for the first time in de music industry by Peterson and
Berger. They saw an active interaction/connection between small and large firms, which influenced
the market. While the large firms were competing with each other, niches opened up and were filled
by smaller firms.
But unlike the music industry and the American film industry (Mezias Mezias, 2000), there is not a
diachronic dialectic between small firms and large firms in the stand up comedy industry.
According to the resource partitioning theory, a theory conceptualized by Caroll in 1985, this dialectic
exists when the big firms are competing with each other. Just a few of these generalists survive and
they move forward toward the centre of the market. Because of this movement small pockets of
resources open up, where smaller firms can thrive (Vermeulen Bruggeman, 2000).
However, in the stand up comedy industry it is difficult to underestimate large and small firms, instead
we distinguish comedians and the media they use to reach their audience. Hence it weren t large firms
causing the opening of the niches for smaller firms. Instead it has been the increase of the use of
media over the past couple decades that has stimulated the creative industry of stand up comedy.
The last fifty years booms

Ivan Pavlov, John Watson, And B. F. Skinner
Learning Theories are one of the largest branches of modern psychology, branching mainly from the
theory presented by Ivan Pavlov in the early twentieth century. Learning, as defined by the Merriam
Webster dictionary, is described as the modification of a behavioral tendency by experience. In
psychology terms, learning is often known as a lasting change in behavior as a result of experience.
The psychology behind learning became more and more of a focus in the early 1900 s as behaviorism
(the theory that human, and animal, behavior can be explained in terms of conditioning) rose to fame
upon the release of an article written by John Watson. From then on, more and more learning theories
were released. These theories were attempts to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He began to study this further, and would pair the meat powder with various stimuli. After the dogs
were presented with this stimuli, like a bell, and the meat powder multiple times, they would salivate
just to the sound of the bell even if the powder wasn t presented. Pavlov then went on to demonstrate
these stimulus response bonds, which many consider the basic building blocks of learning. He then
spent much of the rest of his career devoted to researching further into this finding. Pavlov called this
classical conditioning, which is more modernly defined as a basic form of learning where one stimulus
or event predicts the occurrence of another stimulus or response. This theory can also be known as
Pavlovian conditioning. In every form of classical conditioning, there some form of stimulus and a
response. The main four are UCS, UCR, CS, and CR. The UCS is known as the unconditioned
stimulus, the UCR is the unconditioned response, the CS is known as the conditioned stimulus, and
the CR is the conditioned response. In this study, the UCS was the food powder, while the UCR was
the salivation. After conditioning took place, he CS became the bell, and the CR was the salivation.
B.F. Skinner and John Watson both branched off of this, shaping their own theories.
Watson theorized that classical conditioning could be applied to all aspects of psychology, saying that
everything from speech to emotion followed the stimulus/response pattern. One

Isolation In A Clean Well Lighted Place
Avoiding Alienation Jules Verne once said solitude, isolation, are painful things and beyond human
endurance (Verne). It is obvious that within life isolation may cause a person distress. Despair or
depression are huge burdens for individuals, so they often try finding an escape. Most of the
characters within Ernest Hemingway s A Clean Well Lighted Place are surrounded by loneliness, and
as a result gravitate towards a person or thing to provide them comfort. A majority of the characters
have gone through many hardships and lost some of the people they cared the most about, so it is not
surprising that they feel despair. The old man within the story allegedly tried to commit suicide
because He was in despair (Hemingway). The old waiter working at a cafe empathizes with the old
man because he understands that he just wants a place where he can escape his alienation. There is
also a hopeless soldier who is so desperate to escape his despair that he hires a companion. However,
throughout all the solidary, there is a young waiter who seems anything but lonely. The notion of
escaping solidarity within A Clean Well Lighted Place, is contrasted by the young man and portrayed

The Use Of Cosmetics And Its Use In Ancient Rome
Cosmetics, first used in Ancient Rome for ritual purposes, were part of daily life for women,
especially prostitutes and the wealthy. Cosmetics were applied in private, usually in a small room
where men did not enter. Cosmetae, female slaves that adorned their mistresses, were especially
praised for their skills. They would beautify their mistresses with cultus, the Latin word encompassing
makeup, perfume and jewelry.
Scent was also an important factor of beauty. Women who smelled good were presumed to be healthy.
Due to the stench of many of the ingredients used in cosmetics at the time, women often drenched
themselves in copious amounts of perfume.
Christian women tended to avoid cosmetics with the belief that they should praise what God gave
them. Some men, especially cross dressers, did use cosmetics, although it was viewed as effeminate
and improper.
The Journey of Aroma
Perfumes were very popular in Ancient Rome. In fact, they were so heavily used that Cicero claimed
that, The right scent for a woman is none at all. They came in liquid, solid and sticky forms and were
often created in a maceration process with flowers or herbs and oil. Distillation technology, as well as
most of the imported ingredients, originated in the east. The most prominent perfume market in Italy
was Seplasia in Capua. Perfumes were rubbed on or poured onto the user and were often believed to
be helpful against different ailments, such as fever and indigestion. Different scents were

Essay on Courtroom Procedures and the Role of the Prosecution
During a trial, there are many rules, procedures, and codes of conduct that must be observed. These
are in place to allow a trial to proceed more efficiently and fairly for both the defense and prosecution.
According to one author, Police, prosecutors, and criminal court Judges see too much crime, so they
tend to see crime everywhere. We need rules to control their conduct, Judges to carefully apply those
rules, and other Judges to review those decisions (law article.net). Courtroom procedures are
important because, without them, defendants and prosecution alike could be treated unfairly. These
procedures give a standard format for trials that must be followed to ensure that all parties have an

Courtroom procedures begin before the day of the trial arrives. In a criminal case, the pre trial
proceedings vary based on the severity of the crime. With a simple misdemeanor case, which could
only result in minor jail time or a fine, the pre trial procedures are short and simple. Usually, the
defendant is called to a pre trial hearing where they are read the charges pressed against them and are
asked to give either their plea of guilty and be given a sentencing date, not guilty and be given a trial
date and bail amount, or to plead no contest (American Bar Association). However, in a felony case
that could lead to a serious incarceration sentence, the procedure becomes more complex. There is a
first hearing that is similar to that of a misdemeanor, except that a plea is not given. This is done at the
second preliminary hearing to determine if there is actually enough evidence to charge the defendant
with a crime. If there isn t enough, the charges are dropped, but if there is, the case moves along in the
process (American Bar Association). Also prior to the trial, a jury of 6 to 12 people must be selected.
Each jury member must go through a screening process to ensure that they have no connection to the
trial, or any preconceived opinion of it that could keep them from being impartial to either side. A
juror can be removed if they have any connection to the trial, and the defense

There are many issues facing America today, that simultaneously affect those around the globe. When

that evil can be contained, but we cannot be the babysitter of other nations. I completely understand

Sufficiency Is A Controversial Topic Among Philosophy
Sufficiency is a controversial topic among philosophy. This essay will discuss Adam Smith s opinion
on this topic in How Adam Smith Can Change Your Life written by Russ Roberts. From Smith s point
of view, justice, prudence, and beneficence are sufficient for a good life. His outlook is questionable
because it is self limiting and the details of a good life varies from person to person. Being a loveable
person and being loved due to it will increase the quality of one s life, but being a good person alone
cannot guarantee a good life.
Smith believes that the virtues of prudence, justice, and beneficence are sufficient for a good life.
Roberts introduces the term prudence by describing its modern definition to not act recklessly. ...

Smith uses the idea of an impartial spectator to explain the difference between was in socially just and
unjust. First, he believes that the only acceptable excuse for acting unjustly is as an act of revenge
towards someone who had initially acted unjust towards you. In contrast, to hurt someone for the sake
of your own benefit is unacceptable. Naturally, humans care more about themselves than they do
others. Although this may be true, Smith feels that from the impartial spectator s perspective, to act on
these selfish feelings is recognizably immoral.
Lastly, Smith introduces his most vague virtue needed to attain sufficiency: beneficence. Beneficence
is defined as the act of doing good things. To better understand what it means to act with beneficence,
Smith examines two subjects that make up beneficence gratitude and charity. Unlike prudence and
justice, he recognizes that both gratitude and charity come with many exceptions and modifications.
Nonetheless, he still believes that they make it attainable to practice beneficence. He compares
identifying beneficence with identifying good writing, we know it when we see it, but it not easily
taught or described with any precision (160). In response to this, Roberts states that the inexactitude of
the standards of beneficence is what makes doing good things so intimidating. According to Smith,
taking care of yourself, not

gathers information from the neurons and sends it to the brain, but not all nerve impulses get sent to
the brain. Only a few impulses reach the brain, and an even smaller number reaches the part of the
brain where they cause awareness. The brain and spinal cord is made up of gray and white matter, as
well as the various nerve cells. The brain is divided into three parts: the forebrain, midbrain, and
hindbrain. The forebrain is called the cerebrum, the largest and most developed part of the human
brain. It is divided by the longitudinal sulcus, a deep crevice that separates the forebrain into the left
and right cerebral hemispheres. Each hemispheres control the motor (movement) and sensory (sight,
smell, hearing, taste, and touch) functions of the other side of the body. The two hemispheres are
divided into four lobes: the frontal, parietal, occipital, and temporal lobe. The frontal lobe is involved
with muscle control from head to toe. The parietal lobe obtains sensory information from the skin and
muscles. The occipital lobe receives information from vision, and the temporal lobe controls speech.
Although the four lobes do different jobs, they communicate with each other to allow the brain to
coordinate a response. The cerebrum combines the mixtures of sight, sound, smell, and

Essay about Asians and Kill Bill
Asians and Kill Bill
Sitting in the movie theater, I was baffled to see so many stereotypes touched on in one single film.
These stereotypes were not just any kind of stereotype they were those pertaining to Asians in
particular. The obviousness and sheer transparency of the stereotypes made the movie look like a
complete joke. The film? Kill Bill.
The majority of today s films starring Asian actors and actresses often contain numerous stereotypes.
They cater to the biased views that most non Asians have of Asian ethnicity and culture. What they do
not know they make up for in ignorance and ridicule in one of today s top forms of mass media. By
using a widespread style of media in today s pop culture, more and ... Show more content on

From her roles in Charlie s Angels to this year s Kill Bill, Liu has become a veteran of the tough chick
image she is always prepared to fight. Collectively, these actors have always impressed their
audiences with their talents but audiences fail to realize that fictional portrayal is not always reality.
Ask any person of Asian descent and many will concur that at one point, someone has asked them: Do
you know kung fu?
The stereotypes do not end there. Other films tend to expose Asians as nerds and overachievers. An
example of this can be seen in Better Luck Tomorrow in which a group of young boys are all striving
to get the best grades possible, no matter how they are earned. Terminal USA includes the classic
computer nerd who is all brains and no life.
Another common stereotype is one strictly directed towards Asian women. The female character is
always one of two things. She is either the sexual dominatrix (the dragon lady ) or the innocent and
submissive young girl (the China doll ). More often than not, Asian women are portrayed as exotic,
mysterious, and overtly sexual. A perfect example of this can be seen in films like The World of Suzie
Wong.

On the other hand, companies may use the lower price, because they only had lower value for their

Malaria As A Vector Borne Disease
Malaria
Introduction
Malaria is a Vector borne disease that affects millions of people every year. It is responsible for over
600,000 deaths yearly. It has the highest infection rate in countries in Africa, this is due to the climate
and health practices. It is carried to humans primarily through mosquitos who transfer between people
when they bite them. In this way, the mosquito is the transport between two humans for the disease.
The disease is transferred through blood and continues to the liver where it enters liver cells. From
there it is put back into the blood in larger numbers and is carried around the body to hijack and shut
down many different systems and functions. In this way it involves almost every system in the body.

Since Smallpox is no longer a danger people are no longer immune to it so if it did get out then it
would cause a pandemic. Malaria has less of a chance of that because it requires mosquitos for rapid
spreading, but there is still a danger of that. I have twice traveled to a country that is at risk for
malaria. If I had contracted it there I could easily have returned to America with it inside me without
being aware of it. This is the only known way that the disease still enters the country.
Malaria s age speaks of an adaptability to it, when comparing a sample from ancient China to one
today there are huge differences to be seen. This indicates that Malaria has a large past that there is
very little known about. Possibly the answer to the ideal treatment lives in its past. By looking at the
past it is possible to see how to form the future.
Anatomy Physiology
Malaria enters the bloodstream with the bite of an infected mosquito it is called a sporocyte. It then
travels to the liver where it rapidly multiplies which is called exo erythrocytic replication
(malaria.com). From there it travels again into the bloodstream. Merozoites infect red blood cells and
continue to replicate there, this bursts the cell. The bursting of the cell spreads the infection and causes
many of the symptoms of Malaria. The infected blood cells also stick to the walls of small blood

how you should proceed.

Executive Summary
Agro Storage has recently purchased a cold storage warehouse that stores packages for three
customers. Although the warehouse runs at 85% capacity, the previous owner was unsatisfied with
profitability. Pressure on prices downward and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, reducing the total number of customers served would increase the default risk. I must
insure that any alternatives don t increase the risk of this business operation unwarrantedly.
Perceived Image by Customers: Changing existing contracts and relationships with customers can
have positive or adverse affects on how Agro Storage is perceived by customers. It is important that
any alternative recommended not damage the reputation of Agro Storage. Such damage could impact
future profitability through a lack of sales.
It is clear that in this situation profitability is the biggest criterion and will bear the most weight in
decision making. Risk is not the most important factor here because of the small range numbers that
total customers can vary, and perceived image is not the most important factor since price seems to be
the overwhelming factors customers base their decision on. It seems like a warehouses reputation
would have to be significantly damaged before customers incorporated it in to their decision making.
Analysis
A review of the information provided to me has allowed me to calculate the profitability of each
customer very precisely, and has let me form certain conclusions about the profitability of each of
customer. Also, I noticed several cost and constraints for this warehouse:

Reaching record highs, Atlanta s congestion has put enough drain on economic development to
warrant the need for immediate action. It s has become necessary to develop any policies that could
help alleviate some of the burden on roadways. Exploring the issue, there are four possible policies
that have been examined to reduce congestion in Atlanta. Each policy has its costs and benefits, and
strengths and weaknesses looked at under a critical gaze to determine which, if any, policy is up to the
task of fixing the traffic nightmare the citizens of Atlanta currently live in. There are two viable
options for enabling an authority that is capable of either improving roads or increasing demand for
transit. The first would be to sell the rights to

Taking a Closer Look at The Cambodian Genocide Essay
To spare you is no profit, to destroy you is no loss. Pol Pot, the leader of the Khmer Rouge, once said
this truly horrifying statement (Cambodian Genocide 1). It is no wonder that he went on to orchestrate
the killings of more than two million innocent Cambodians. At the time of the mass killings in
Cambodia, the Vietnam War was raging on. It is possible that the Vietnam War masked the true
horrors of what was happening in Cambodia. The terrible events left emotional scars and traumatized
countless people. In the 1960 s a group named the Khmer Rouge surfaced, but was with few members.
They were led by Pol Pot, a man who would soon bring terror to all Cambodians. Their goal was to
bring Cambodia into a primal state, where everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In total, over two million people died and many suffered from psychological illnesses (Walker 1). The
events that happened in Cambodia showed every sign of being genocide. Mass killings took place,
emotional scars were left, and cruel treatment was inflicted.
This issue is genocide because of the mass killings that occurred. The Khmer Rouge was brutal and
killed anybody that they thought couldn t work or was in opposition to their ideals. Cambodia lost
25% of its population, with over two millions killed. When more than two million innocent people are
killed, it is hard, if not impossible to call what happened in Cambodia, not Genocide. Many people
witnessed the deaths of their family and friends, leaving them with nightmares and emotional scars
(Carney 1).
Another strong argument that helps prove what happened in Cambodia was genocide was the terrible
treatment that the people were forced to endure every day. The Khmer Rouge was relentless with what
they did. They weren t afraid to kill someone, nor did they think twice about it. Just the ruthlessness
alone, can prove that this was genocide. The Khmer Rouge was brutal and unforgiving; forcing people
to work in terrible conditions and perform treacherous labor. The Khmer Rouge would kill anyone
who opposed this work. Due to the horrible conditions the people worked in and the ruthless killings,
the fields in which the people worked were called the Cambodian killing fields

The Role of Women in Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man...
James Joyce s A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man presents an account of the formative years of
aspiring author Stephen Dedalus. The very title of the novel suggests that Joyce s focus throughout
will be those aspects of the young man s life that are key to his artistic development (Drew 276). Each
event in Stephen s life from the opening story of the moocow to his experiences with religion and the
university contributes to his growth as an artist. Central to the experiences of Stephen s life are, of
course, the people with whom he interacts, and of primary importance among these people are
women, who, as his story progresses, prove to be a driving force behind Stephen s art.
As A Portrait of the Artist progresses, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This physical understanding of the exterior world may be the impetus for Stephen s subsequent
construction of a hierarchical list that defines his place within the universe.
Both Dante and Stephen s own mother associate themselves with punishment when they assert that he
will apologise or the eagles will come and pull out his eyes (Joyce 246). This incident results in
Stephen s composition of a poem based on apologise and eyes, one of his first artistic endeavors.
Dante and Mrs. Dedalus, having planted these words in Stephen s mind, are the first females to inspire
him to create.
Young Stephen s first romantic interest in the opposite sex comes in the form of his playmate, Eileen,
whom he plans to marry when they are older. This assertion, although childishly innocent, is
nonetheless the first suggestion that sexual and romantic relationships with women will be important
to Stephen as he matures. Indeed, the appearance of punishment, romance, and inspiration at such an
early point in the novel creates a sense of the interconnected effect they will have on Stephen and his
art. The association of women with each of these essential elements establishes yet another link
between them, and emphasizes the central role women will play in Stephen s life.
Throughout his childhood, women continue to contribute to Stephen s development as an artist,
though he seems unaware

A Teacher s Assistant For An Afterschool Program Essay
As a teacher s assistant for an afterschool program called Good Grades Academy, I decided to the
vocabulary as an extension of the classroom teacher s comprehension unit. My vocabulary game was
based on a lesson involving literary elements for fifth grade students. I worked with a fifth grade
student named Bartek who is eleven years old. His strengths lie in his ability to figure out challenging
math problems, but he struggles in the areas of reading and comprehension. Bartek decoding skills are
on par with his grade level, but his comprehension skills are representative of a third or fourth grade
level. He cannot recall important information in the text and his writing responses are unrelated to the
text. In addition, Bartek often lacks motivation and has difficulty completing his work. He cannot sit
still and disturbs the other students working in the classroom. When asked to complete work related
tasks he states that it is too difficult and is inattentive when receiving instruction. I decided to play the
vocabulary game with him because it would be a fun and interactive way to help him learn words.
After the students in the afterschool program finish assigned work they are allotted time for fun
activities, so I used this opportunity to implement the vocabulary game. The purpose of my game was
to clarify literary elements that Bartek was working on understanding. As stated in the Core manual
Knowing about story structure provides a framework that helps students to

Crime And Hate Crimes
Hate crimes are criminal infractions in which the victim is targeted due to his or her actual or
perceived demographic status, that is, their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or
national origin. Unlike many other violent crimes, hate crimes have an effect on both the immediate
target and the communities of which the individuals are a member. As such, research (Herek, Gillis,
Cogan, 1999; McDevitt, Balboni, Garcia, Gu, 2001) has shown that victims of violent hate crimes
may suffer from more psychological distress, that is, depression, stress, anger, anxiety, among other
psychological related concerns more than victims of other violent crimes. The purpose of this paper is
to explore a subtopic of forensic psychology that is not commonly discussed, that is, bias crimes or
hate crimes. In order to explore this topic, an examination of several aspects related to it will ensue,
including a detailed review of the effects hate crimes have on victims, the effects hate crimes have on
communities, people who are risk of being victims, the perpetrators of hate crimes (whether they are
individuals or part of hate groups), an overall inquiry of hate motivated offending as well as the
different types, and lastly, addressing hate crimes and potential solutions. For this reason, the main
question of focus for this paper, then, is why otherwise non violent people commit violent offenses
towards certain groups (i.e. minority groups) as well as the effects that follow for the victims.
Motivation and Typology
With regard to hate motivated offenses, research on offender motivation remains sparse, partially due
to the relative infrequency with which these crimes are reported, and to a lesser degree, an offended is
identified, however, it is important to explore whether these offenses differ from other similar crimes.
Based on interviews with police officials, victims, and several hate crime offenders, Levin and
McDevitt (1993) developed a typology that identified three primary motivations and of which were
later adopted by law enforcement: offenders who committed their crimes for the excitement or the
thrill, offenders who saw themselves as defending their turf, and finally a small group of offenders

Also, it is good for medicine degrees also. Like I said it is not too cheap and not to expensive like
Harvard . Another reason why Harvard is mostly known for the study of law and it can become very
expensive for a the average person attending college. Attending this school could ruin your financial
plans in the future because you would have to get a lot of student loans. Harvard is more harder to get
in than Baylor. Baylor is like a school for many things. They even have two schools and more
resources. Yet another idea from ,Baylor vs Harvard(2015) is that Harvard has good training for
students.Harvard has higher test scores or MCAT. I understand that Harvard is a good school but it is
very expensive. Also, (for people the live in southwest and south)it is far away. The relative location is
in the upper states Another one of my idea is from Baylor Med school and Harvard is that it gets very
cold in the winter Harvard(29.9*F) Baylor(55.2*F).That is a difference of 25.3 which is more than
19.5 degrees. Also Baylor gets hot in the summer Baylor(84.5*F) Harvard(70.9*F).In difference it is

I am writing this letter to recommend Salomon Lopez for admission into the master s program at your
university. I worked with Salomon 2 years ago at Operation Blessing International in San Pedro Sula
Honduras; our work there involved the use of cyclopoid Mesocyclops Longisetus, a small crustacean,
that fed on first instar container breeder Aedes mosquito larvae. The project was aimed to help control
Aedes larvae in wells, tires, and containers in Monte Verde, a small town with a population of 1438.
Men, women, pregnant women, and children were infected with Zika. Salomon was instrumental with
helping the researchers to help fight the spread of Zika and dengue. Salomon s humanitarian work
stretches far beyond the town of Monte Verde. His love and dedication extended to individuals living
in isolated parts of Honduras. Salomon has gone beyond the call of duty to provide medical treatments

  • 3. Cause And Effect Of A Tornado The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) states that a tornado forms when a rotating column of air that meets up with a thunderstorm and hits the ground. (HR Byers, Compendium of Meteorology, pp 681 693) About each year there are about 1,000 tornadoes. A scale called enhanced Fujita (EF) is used to measure the intensity of the tornado. There is a number given to the tornado from 0 5 and that number depends on the wind damage. The wind damage is scaled upon what was hit such as trees and buildings. A report from Lloyds of London from 2013 states that the United States has more tornadoes than anywhere else in the world. A thunderstorm is made when the air is unstable and moist, and it is lifted into the atmosphere in a vertical line. The air is lifted because latent heat and condensation releases into the heat. Adiabatic expansion happens when after the start of the lifted air the part of the moist warm air starts to cool. Once the air reaches a higher elevation the cumulous cloud is formed and then the dew point reaches a higher point. When this happens, condensation is made. The cumulous cloud will change into a thunderstorm. When a storm is called a supercell thunderstorm, the updrafts are stronger. When these storms are strong a vortex of air is made. Before a tornado is made, it is a mesocyclone and it can be as wide as 2 6 miles. After a mesocyclone is made, there a 50% chance that a tornado will happen in about 30 minutes. If the air has low ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The principles of individual decision making include people being rational, economic incentives, and optimal decisions made at the margin. Trading the three economic systems are market economy, centrally planned economy, and mixed economy. Each contains their own attributes on how they contribute to an economy. The current economic system in the United States is a mixed economy. Individual Decision making People try to be rational. Opportunity cost is the highest valued alternative that must be given up to engage in an activity (Hubbard, amp; O Brien, 2010). In some respect, it is an individual s marginal cost versus marginal benefit. Questions such as what is to be produced, how will it be produced, who is receiving the goods need to be answered. Types of Economies These questions are answered by different kind of economies. The general population drives market economies. Goods and services are in supply as much as they are in demand unless there is some sort of constraint. Government drives centrally planned economies as they dictate how much of a product and service are produced. These economies are usually run by dictatorships or communism. Last, there is mixed economy. The United States is a mixed economy as the general population runs the market demand and supply. However, the government regulates some products and goods. Government intervention has occurred recently after the British Petroleum oilrig exploded off the shore of Louisiana. President Obama placed a ban on any further offshore drilling sites close to the coast. We ve placed a six month moratorium on drilling new deepwater oil and gas wells in the Outer Continental Shelf (Obama, 2010). I had emailed the Head Athletic Trainer, Jerry Bornhoff prior to my attendance to make sure I was allowed to shadow him for the day. Throughout the time I was there, I made sure I noted the whole process of an athlete from when they first arrived and when they left the training room facility. • 7. Persuasive Speech On You Are Alone You are alone in a room. You have 2 minutes till your death. You have a phone. Do you make a call? Who do you call? Growing up I was led to believe that when you die it will be of old age, in a hospital bed with loved ones surrounding you. You are able to say goodbye to those you care for and tell them what you have been waiting and wanting to say. Even if they aren t there it is important to let them know everything and tell them what they mean to you. And no, this isn t just so you feel better about yourself it is one of you last acts on this earth, your last chance to say what needs to be said to those that matter to you. It isn t something that is normally talked about but it needs to be, it is something that will happen to just about everyone and you need to be prepared. Guaranteed, this is the hardest thing you will EVER have to do. You can t avoid it, it is something you will have to do. Many people believe that you should not make this contact to your family, you should just leave them alone. I think different. This is the last time they will ever hear your voice or read your message. This small act reflects who you are and is a part of you that will stay with those people forever. For those people that were tragically lost in the twin towers attacks, this a decision they were faced with. Many of their families had to answer or listen to these calls that their loved ones left that they are now so thank full of as all I needed was that message, and I think that he ... • 8. Lewis Mere Christianity Lewis discusses the difficult topics of atonement and the Christian life within chapters four and five of Mere Christianity. Lewis maintains his mere Christianity explanation of the topics by not focusing on the multiple theories, by not diving deeper into explanations that will never be fully adequate for Earthly beings, and by focusing on what is true across all denominations of Christianity; he focuses on what is true for mere Christianity. I find his approach to the doctrines of atonement and the Christian life to be strong. He does not give those who doubt an escape from accepting the truth. Lewis does not focus on the multiple theories and warns the reader against focusing on the theories and not on what all Christians agree upon. He states The central Christian belief is that Christ s death has somehow put us right with God and given us a fresh start. Theories as to how it did this are another matter. A good many different theories have been held as to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This focus on commonality is evident when mentions his Methodist friend disagreeing to which of the three things that spread the Christ life to us should be emphasized over the others. Lewis instead concentrates on the fact that Christians in general all agree that the three are important. He does not get into a detailed debate on which of the three is most important because he wants to maintain what is true to mere Christianity. Lewis knows that he believes that these three things are important to Christianity but is unable to explain why. By admitting that he cannot explain why, he is allowing the reader to form their own opinion or theory; but he is not allowing room for them not to believe in the three things and in the truth, which is Christianity. Lewis upholds his focus on mere Christianity by not focusing on a certain denomination s beliefs, but he focuses on what is accepted by Christians, of all sects, as a ... Teachers play a very vital role in the lives and futures of many individuals. Through the perspective of a teacher, many students come and go year after year. The names and faces of many students are often forgotten as you enter and new year with new students, new faces, and new names. On the other hand, although educators encounter many more students then students do educators, a teacher has a much more substantial impact on the life of a student. More time and attention should be given to those students who need it. Teachers should pay attention to the special needs of their students and do whatever they can do to fulfill them. College have opened many doors for people who went to college and graduated than the ones that did not. The ones who already experienced college report how the experience helped them shape themselves. They also claim that their college experience made them confront many different challenges that they later again experienced in the real world . Even though some individuals think that college is not a coming of age experience, it has been proven that college is an important coming of age experience because it makes students realize some of life s obstacles and help them prepare for their future journey called life. College is an important coming of age experience because young adults confront some of life s challenges earlier. Mrs. Henderson, a former teacher at Desert Pines High School, spoke how college was a challenging event in her life, but that the benefits will show at the end (Henderson). Mrs. Henderson also explained how college made her feel much more confident in herself when she showed up for job interviews (Henderson). • 12. Legalizing All Drugs Should Solve A Lot Of Our Country s... There are many people that are conflicted in this country on how to properly deal with the issue of drugs and how they should be handled. There are some people that firmly believe that legalizing all drugs will solve a lot of our country s problems. The advocates for legalizing drugs believe that this would benefit everyone by making our streets and homes much safer due to the fact that drug addicts will do anything for their next fix . Drug prices increase with the restriction of drugs by law enforcement and the addicts are desperate for money and will commit a string of muggings, burglary of homes and cars or even murder to finance their habits. The higher the price of their drug the more they will need to steal to buy their supply. Drug dealers are also in possession of very valuable property and are a big target for assaults and even murder to steal the dealers money or drugs that they have on them at the time. The drug gangs also compete over areas to peddle their drugs with other drug dealers which lead to violence and murder between the dealers. If drugs are legalized then the drug prices will plummet and there will be no need for the addicts to commit crimes or murder to get ahold of their drugs. The drug dealers on the streets will be forced out of work by the retail marketing of drugs by reputable and well known retailers. If drugs were legalized some people believe that crime on the streets and possibly in our own homes will decrease. Legalization of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Industrial Organization (IO) theory is about, how a structure of a market has an influence on the strategy and decision making of a company. 1 The theory therefore focusses on the market wherein the company operates and links the decisions of the company to the market. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1975 such a diachronic dialectic was found for the first time in de music industry by Peterson and Berger. They saw an active interaction/connection between small and large firms, which influenced the market. While the large firms were competing with each other, niches opened up and were filled by smaller firms. But unlike the music industry and the American film industry (Mezias Mezias, 2000), there is not a diachronic dialectic between small firms and large firms in the stand up comedy industry. According to the resource partitioning theory, a theory conceptualized by Caroll in 1985, this dialectic exists when the big firms are competing with each other. Just a few of these generalists survive and they move forward toward the centre of the market. Because of this movement small pockets of resources open up, where smaller firms can thrive (Vermeulen Bruggeman, 2000). However, in the stand up comedy industry it is difficult to underestimate large and small firms, instead we distinguish comedians and the media they use to reach their audience. Hence it weren t large firms causing the opening of the niches for smaller firms. Skinner Learning Theories are one of the largest branches of modern psychology, branching mainly from the theory presented by Ivan Pavlov in the early twentieth century. Learning, as defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary, is described as the modification of a behavioral tendency by experience. In psychology terms, learning is often known as a lasting change in behavior as a result of experience. The psychology behind learning became more and more of a focus in the early 1900 s as behaviorism (the theory that human, and animal, behavior can be explained in terms of conditioning) rose to fame upon the release of an article written by John Watson. After the dogs were presented with this stimuli, like a bell, and the meat powder multiple times, they would salivate just to the sound of the bell even if the powder wasn t presented. Pavlov then went on to demonstrate these stimulus response bonds, which many consider the basic building blocks of learning. He then spent much of the rest of his career devoted to researching further into this finding. Pavlov called this classical conditioning, which is more modernly defined as a basic form of learning where one stimulus or event predicts the occurrence of another stimulus or response. This theory can also be known as Pavlovian conditioning. In every form of classical conditioning, there some form of stimulus and a response. The main four are UCS, UCR, CS, and CR. The UCS is known as the unconditioned stimulus, the UCR is the unconditioned response, the CS is known as the conditioned stimulus, and the CR is the conditioned response. In this study, the UCS was the food powder, while the UCR was the salivation. After conditioning took place, he CS became the bell, and the CR was the salivation. B.F. Skinner and John Watson both branched off of this, shaping their own theories. Watson theorized that classical conditioning could be applied to all aspects of psychology, saying that everything from speech to emotion followed the stimulus/response pattern. One ... It is obvious that within life isolation may cause a person distress. Despair or depression are huge burdens for individuals, so they often try finding an escape. Most of the characters within Ernest Hemingway s A Clean Well Lighted Place are surrounded by loneliness, and as a result gravitate towards a person or thing to provide them comfort. A majority of the characters have gone through many hardships and lost some of the people they cared the most about, so it is not surprising that they feel despair. Courtroom procedures begin before the day of the trial arrives. In a criminal case, the pre trial proceedings vary based on the severity of the crime. With a simple misdemeanor case, which could only result in minor jail time or a fine, the pre trial procedures are short and simple. Usually, the defendant is called to a pre trial hearing where they are read the charges pressed against them and are asked to give either their plea of guilty and be given a sentencing date, not guilty and be given a trial date and bail amount, or to plead no contest (American Bar Association). However, in a felony case that could lead to a serious incarceration sentence, the procedure becomes more complex. There is a first hearing that is similar to that of a misdemeanor, except that a plea is not given. This is done at the second preliminary hearing to determine if there is actually enough evidence to charge the defendant with a crime. If there isn t enough, the charges are dropped, but if there is, the case moves along in the process (American Bar Association). Also prior to the trial, a jury of 6 to 12 people must be selected. This essay will discuss Adam Smith s opinion on this topic in How Adam Smith Can Change Your Life written by Russ Roberts. From Smith s point of view, justice, prudence, and beneficence are sufficient for a good life. His outlook is questionable because it is self limiting and the details of a good life varies from person to person. Being a loveable person and being loved due to it will increase the quality of one s life, but being a good person alone cannot guarantee a good life. Smith believes that the virtues of prudence, justice, and beneficence are sufficient for a good life. Smith uses the idea of an impartial spectator to explain the difference between was in socially just and unjust. First, he believes that the only acceptable excuse for acting unjustly is as an act of revenge towards someone who had initially acted unjust towards you. In contrast, to hurt someone for the sake of your own benefit is unacceptable. Naturally, humans care more about themselves than they do others. Although this may be true, Smith feels that from the impartial spectator s perspective, to act on these selfish feelings is recognizably immoral. Lastly, Smith introduces his most vague virtue needed to attain sufficiency: beneficence. Beneficence is defined as the act of doing good things. To better understand what it means to act with beneficence, Smith examines two subjects that make up beneficence gratitude and charity. Unlike prudence and justice, he recognizes that both gratitude and charity come with many exceptions and modifications. Nonetheless, he still believes that they make it attainable to practice beneficence. He compares identifying beneficence with identifying good writing, we know it when we see it, but it not easily taught or described with any precision (160). In response to this, Roberts states that the inexactitude of the standards of beneficence is what makes doing good things so intimidating. According to Smith, taking care of yourself, not ... This physical understanding of the exterior world may be the impetus for Stephen s subsequent construction of a hierarchical list that defines his place within the universe. Both Dante and Stephen s own mother associate themselves with punishment when they assert that he will apologise or the eagles will come and pull out his eyes (Joyce 246). This incident results in Stephen s composition of a poem based on apologise and eyes, one of his first artistic endeavors. Dante and Mrs. Dedalus, having planted these words in Stephen s mind, are the first females to inspire him to create. Young Stephen s first romantic interest in the opposite sex comes in the form of his playmate, Eileen, whom he plans to marry when they are older. This assertion, although childishly innocent, is nonetheless the first suggestion that sexual and romantic relationships with women will be important to Stephen as he matures. Indeed, the appearance of punishment, romance, and inspiration at such an early point in the novel creates a sense of the interconnected effect they will have on Stephen and his art. The association of women with each of these essential elements establishes yet another link between them, and emphasizes the central role women will play in Stephen s life. Throughout his childhood, women continue to contribute to Stephen s development as an artist, though he seems unaware ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. A Teacher s Assistant For An Afterschool Program Essay As a teacher s assistant for an afterschool program called Good Grades Academy, I decided to the vocabulary as an extension of the classroom teacher s comprehension unit. My vocabulary game was based on a lesson involving literary elements for fifth grade students. I worked with a fifth grade student named Bartek who is eleven years old. His strengths lie in his ability to figure out challenging math problems, but he struggles in the areas of reading and comprehension. Bartek decoding skills are on par with his grade level, but his comprehension skills are representative of a third or fourth grade level. He cannot recall important information in the text and his writing responses are unrelated to the text. In addition, Bartek often lacks motivation and has difficulty completing his work. He cannot sit still and disturbs the other students working in the classroom. When asked to complete work related tasks he states that it is too difficult and is inattentive when receiving instruction. I decided to play the vocabulary game with him because it would be a fun and interactive way to help him learn words. After the students in the afterschool program finish assigned work they are allotted time for fun activities, so I used this opportunity to implement the vocabulary game. The purpose of my game was to clarify literary elements that Bartek was working on understanding. As stated in the Core manual Knowing about story structure provides a framework that helps students to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Crime And Hate Crimes Hate crimes are criminal infractions in which the victim is targeted due to his or her actual or perceived demographic status, that is, their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or national origin. Unlike many other violent crimes, hate crimes have an effect on both the immediate target and the communities of which the individuals are a member. As such, research (Herek, Gillis, Cogan, 1999; McDevitt, Balboni, Garcia, Gu, 2001) has shown that victims of violent hate crimes may suffer from more psychological distress, that is, depression, stress, anger, anxiety, among other psychological related concerns more than victims of other violent crimes. The purpose of this paper is to explore a subtopic of forensic psychology that is not commonly discussed, that is, bias crimes or hate crimes. In order to explore this topic, an examination of several aspects related to it will ensue, including a detailed review of the effects hate crimes have on victims, the effects hate crimes have on communities, people who are risk of being victims, the perpetrators of hate crimes (whether they are individuals or part of hate groups), an overall inquiry of hate motivated offending as well as the different types, and lastly, addressing hate crimes and potential solutions. For this reason, the main question of focus for this paper, then, is why otherwise non violent people commit violent offenses towards certain groups (i.e. minority groups) as well as the effects that follow for the victims. Motivation and Typology With regard to hate motivated offenses, research on offender motivation remains sparse, partially due to the relative infrequency with which these crimes are reported, and to a lesser degree, an offended is identified, however, it is important to explore whether these offenses differ from other similar crimes. Based on interviews with police officials, victims, and several hate crime offenders, Levin and McDevitt (1993) developed a typology that identified three primary motivations and of which were later adopted by law enforcement: offenders who committed their crimes for the excitement or the thrill, offenders who saw themselves as defending their turf, and finally a small group of offenders ... Also, it is good for medicine degrees also. Like I said it is not too cheap and not to expensive like Harvard . Another reason why Harvard is mostly known for the study of law and it can become very expensive for a the average person attending college. Attending this school could ruin your financial plans in the future because you would have to get a lot of student loans. Harvard is more harder to get in than Baylor. Baylor is like a school for many things. They even have two schools and more resources. Yet another idea from ,Baylor vs Harvard(2015) is that Harvard has good training for students.Harvard has higher test scores or MCAT. I understand that Harvard is a good school but it is very expensive. Also, (for people the live in southwest and south)it is far away. The relative location is in the upper states Another one of my idea is from Baylor Med school and Harvard is that it gets very cold in the winter Harvard(29.9*F) Baylor(55.2*F).That is a difference of 25.3 which is more than 19.5 degrees. Also Baylor gets hot in the summer Baylor(84.5*F) Harvard(70.9*F).In difference it is 13.4 which is not that much.Unless you want to ...
