The first version of the 802.11 protocol was released in 1997, and was updated to 802.11b in 1999 to
permit 11 megabits to be transmitted. But Wireless WANs (WWANs) network cover broader areas
then WLANS and includes such things as cellular networks, cellular digital packet data, satellite
networks, microwave networks, and much more. But Both WWANS and WLANs rely on the RF
spectrum as there communication medium. The security measure for wireless users is strict, even
though it can be accessed by walking near a building. Wireless signals are easy too pickup especially
with a cellular device but it is usually password but still can access from intruders. But there are many
way of preventing these hackers from entering in which will be explained later. Also for Mobile
network/and its network security, its network operates on a radio frequency consisting of radio cells,
each served by a fixed transmitter, and for both wireless and mobile networks, they have the
advantage of mobility, flexibility, ease of installation, and low cost. But some drawbacks for both
systems include Limited Throughput, Limited Range, in building penetration problems, vulnerability,
and lastly security.

Tax On Junk Food In The United States
Today, it is a rarity to see children and adults consuming nutritional foods. More often, they consume
processed foods which contain high levels of sugar, salt, and fats. Because these delectable treats have
little to no nutritional benefit, the public has deemed them junk foods. As junk food becomes more and
more prevalent in society, the obesity rates are also rising among children and adults alike. The
government proposed a tax on junk food to lower the consumption of junk food obsession and was
met with disapproval from the public. Whether the government likes it or not, a tax on junk food will
not lead to lower consumption or healthier people; it will only serve to anger the public even if it may
benefit society. Therefore, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because the resources used in the production of processed foods are so prevalent, companies can
produce them at a low cost. The manufacturers then mark up the products significantly before stocking
their shelves. Consumers get sweet and salty processed food for a low price and producers make a
notable profit. Processed foods continue to be distributed in almost every store in America. They line
every shelf and brandish their low prices and tempt consumers to buy them. The fresh produce, on the
other hand, continues to diminish in quantity, rise in price, and lose many consumers to the junk food

The Nature Of The Prince In Machiavelli s The Prince
A Lion is a King and a Fox is the Thief
Since, then, a prince must know how to use well the nature of the beast, he should choose from among
the beasts the fox and the lion; for the lion cannot defend itself from traps, while the fox cannot
protect itself from the wolves. It is therefore necessary to be a fox, in order to recognize the traps, and
a lion, in order to frighten the wolves (Machiavelli 60). When must the Prince be the lion and when
must he be the fox? In The Prince written by Machiavelli, Machiavelli writes to the Prince to tell him
the best way to rule over a principality, and the consequences of the decisions he makes in his ruling.
Machiavelli applies figurative language, such as metaphors to explain the way a situation will often
play out. He represents different roles of leadership as animals. The different animals, lion, wolf, fox,
have varying characteristics. Machiavelli uses the metaphors of a lion and a fox in order to illustrate
the need for a prince to be both strong and brave and sly and cunning. The effect of these metaphors is
to demonstrate that a prince must demonstrate more than just one characteristic in order to lead with
power and authority.
The Prince needs to know how to use well the nature of the beast (60). He must think like an animal in
matters that concern his ruling. If the Prince thinks as an animal his priorities would then be to ensure
the security of the kingdom and his throne. His military strength will prevent

Importance Of Art And Literature In The Perception Of Society
The importance of Art and Literature in the Perception of Society
Art and literature contain the power to transport one to extraordinary settings and time periods.
Depending on the novel, the reader can travel the lands of Narnia and uncover ways to prevent
bullying without even leaving the chair. Likewise, with art, one can join the Picasso era and identify
the struggles he encountered. Clearly, creative compositions aid in portraying the different aspects of
society and Miriam Toews effectively unravels this mystery in her novel The Flying Troutmans. The
author demonstrates how art and literature helps one make sense of the world around them by
considering different perspectives, by analyzing character developments, and by building intellect.
This eventually leads to self understanding.
Art and literature become a source of guidance when one learns from the integrated insights of human
experiences. Many writers incorporate unique characters, allowing the audience to view situations
through unfamiliar perspectives and discover significant information. For example, Min, Logan and
Thebes mother, attempts suicide several times, experiences heartbreak, and eventually, refuses to meet
with her family. For Min, novels are [her] girl guide to the universe...[Her] library of loss (Toews 167)
since she can identify with the central characters. Specifically, because she suffers from a mental
illness, she focuses on the protagonists who endure a comparable disorder. Thereon, she

Belle s Famous Ribs
Grilling has always been a favorite pastime in most American families. Although some people choose
to cook hamburgers and hot dogs, others prefer to grill ribs. Grilling ribs can be more complicated
than cooking the average hamburger or hot dog; if it is done wrong, the ribs can become so tough that
they are inedible. Thankfully, there are recipes like Belle s Famous Ribs to help BBQ novices make
perfect ribs.. This recipe is an easy recipe that can be mastered by any level cook when they follow
three easy steps: gathering ingredients; preparing and using the dry rub; and cooking and grilling the
ribs. The first thing to do before starting this recipe is to find and purchase a good rack of pork ribs.

The Four Freedoms Speech Analysis
The Idea of freedom from fear has changed since the time of the famous The four freedoms speech by
the late Franklin Roosevelt in 1941 but only on what the fear is. At the time the speech was given,
America had isolationist policies that emerged at the end of World War I. Fears were deeply rooted in
another economic decline as the nation had just experienced but also in a new threat. World War II
was well under way and Roosevelt felt America should intervene to protect freedom and democracy.
Now in 2017, almost 76 years later, the fear is focused on advancement in technologies and liberating
people from under oppressive regimes and governments as said in a welcoming speech by President
Barack Obama in 2012 . Many wonder if living free

Wayward Sons
In 2008, women from all around the world began to become fanatics of the well known book Twilight
and disputing with their fellow Twi hard fans if they should be on team Jacob or team Edward.
However, before there were Twi hard fans fighting over a sparkling disco ball that was called a
vampire (A dark day for fans of the gothic vampire literature) and a werewolf that always had its shirt
off, there was what we call Wayward Sons or Hunters in the fandom universe in 2005. Wayward Sons

Considering, it shows the audience that it is perfectly fine to follow your own dreams and goals even
if your family does not agree with you. Which is emphasized when it is mentioned that John and Sam
had a falling out due to the fact that Sam wanted to become a lawyer instead of becoming a hunter.
Moreover, this fact is emphasized once Sam states to Dean that he didn t run away but was going to
college and John was the one that said that if he was going to leave, he should stay gone (Kripke,
Supernatural, Season 1, Episode 3). Due to this fact, it strengthened my belief in the life lesson that a
person should follow their dreams and pay no attention to what their family wants them to do.

STEM-Based Science Class Analysis
In this paper, I strive to use the knowledge I acquired about teaching science to effectively describe an
exceptional science class that encourages students to inquire and investigate their world. During
observation of this STEM based science class, I observe several teaching techniques used to
effectively shape and structure the science methods being used. The class community was very
immersed into the science methodological process skills as students were inspired to discover while
becoming effective problem solvers. This analysis will provide a detailed understanding of the skills
and teaching techniques used as well as the role they play in the daily running of and effective science
classroom. The classroom I observed for analysis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It showed me enthusiastic students are when they are engaged in the learning process. I was able to
witness many teaching strategies used as the educator tried to provide accommodation for all learners.
For example, the student who liked math could be the accountant. This fieldwork observation showed
how important it is to create a classroom community where all students are able to thrive. It also
showed how learning is divergent and that all students can have different answers or design to the
same question or project. Most of all, I learned how students enjoy working in a free environment as
well as how inquiry based learning keeps them engaged in the learning process from beginning to end.
In the future, I would like to gain more insight from a science teacher who use the STEM based
approach through discussion, as this will provide me opportunities to question him or her as opposed

Animals And Animal Nature
Let there be light, Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from
the waters of the earth. Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may
appear. Let the land sprout with vegetation every sort of seed bearing plant, and trees that grow seed
bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came. Let
lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons,
days, and years. Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth. Let the waters swarm with fish
and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind. Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish fill
the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth. Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each
producing offspring of the same kind livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild
animals. Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the
sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that
scurry along the ground. Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in
the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.

Music Is The Most Popular Music
According to Oxford s dictionary, music is the vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in
such a way as to produce beauty of form harmony, and expression of emotion. Music has been around
for a very long time. Music has been an influenced since the beginning of time from the beats and
rhythm to just make a nice flow of a song. Music history is sometimes a historical viewpoint in
society. Besides, music is breaking down into five main categories: Jazz, Classical, Rhythm and Blues,
Pop, Rap, and Country. But, Rap music is the most popular music in today s society. In addition, being
that Rap music is popular, Rap music is also the most corrupted music now a day. So, how does music
influences positive and negative effects on people and society? Although, music has been around for
several years, there are so many differences and similarities in music; for instance, all music can be
related by old music that was made, or there is new music that is originated. The differences in music
is the many genres and its effects on people and the society. The cost of albums from the 1960 s to
today s music are much higher. Another difference in music is back in the 1960 s talent was a part of
music, but in today s music all you need is auto tunes. The similarities are that all music is alike in
some way. Also, that music may sound the same. For instance, Marvin Gaye s song Got to Give It Up
sounds similar to Robin Thicke s Blurred Lines , because I believe both songs give

What Does George Santayana Say About History And Human Nature
George Santayana s quote from the novel The Life of Reason, volume 1 explains about history and
human nature. If you do not learn from your mistakes from the past, you will make the same mistakes
again. Progress, far from consisting in change depends on retentiveness. This means in regards to
history that progress does not depend on change but more on the ability to retain from past experience.
When experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Also, In the first stage of life
the mind is frivolous and easily distracted, it misses progress by failing in consecutiveness and
persistence. This two quotes explains the human nature that if you don t learn from your past mistakes,
you will be like savages or live forever

Psychological Analysis and History of Richard Trenton Chase The Killer Introduction Richard

serial killers go, he is a trifecta of nightmarish behavior from cannibalism and mutilation, rape and
necrophilia, to attacking people in their homes out of the blue, he is the kind of killer that one think s

Roof Shingles Case Study
Back in 1989 when I installed my first asphalt shingle there was many changes in the roofing

There are roofing shingles that I have seen come and go, such as the masonite shingle, which is a
composite material that requires flashing between each joint to seal it off. There are also concrete tiles
which I would consider composite since it does not have the slate or clay tile attributes, known as

Corning made that would fall under the composite material that was made of a plastic or a plasticiser
type composite material.

Challenges in Defining and Classifying Normal and Abnormal...
Challenges in defining and classifying normal abnormal behavior with regards to age In the study of
abnormal psychology, one of the contentions often debated upon is the determination of abnormal
behavior in terms of specific demographics, such as age, gender, and race. However, determining
abnormal behavior in terms of age (for example) is a problematic endeavor in that the concept of
abnormal behavior itself is subject to different social (cultural) interpretations. One of the challenges
encountered in determining normal and abnormal behavior in general (which includes age) is social
norms. Because social norms vary across societies and cultures, an acceptable behavior in one culture
might be considered abnormal in another. Another challenge to determining normal/abnormal
behavior is historical variation in terms of acceptable and unacceptable behavior. An example would
be the hyperactivity of children: before, this behavior is considered normal as children are considered
playful and have short attention span as a result. However, over time, psychologists have identified
this kind of behavior as not normal for children, and individuals who demonstrate hyperactivity and
very short attention span as having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) (Butcher,
2010:146). At best, objective determination of normal/abnormal behavior is through diagnostic
systems, one of which is the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, also called DSM.

Drug Addiction In Junky And Naked Lunch
The images that Burroughs presented in Junky, and The Yage Letters about drug addiction is totally
different from the one he presented in Naked Lunch. In the previous books, Burroughs only showed

fears he had. He traveled to Mexico, Columbia and Morocco because he wanted to freely do heroin
and all the drugs he could get. He mentioned casually the side effects of drugs but it was normal for
him and he wouldn t stop doing it because of that. In addition, in the other books he was telling the

Justification Of Hester Prynne
The Puritans Are Justifiable In D.H. Lawrence s writing The Scarlet Letter by, Nathaniel Hawthorne,
Lawrence shares his beliefs that Hester Prynne is fully guilty in the Puritan society for committing the
sin of adultery. Lawrence believes that all women have the ultimate goal of seducing men. He feels
very strongly that Hester s character should not have any heroic praise, and he finds ways of justifying
the way the Puritans beliefs. Lawrence uses methods of brief repetition, direct syntax, and complacent
tone to convey that Hester Prynne is guilty. D.H. Lawrence uses brief repetition to represent that
Hester is guilty of sin. Lawrence finds ways of writing repetition in the attempt to get his point across
without hesitation when he states, Adulteress, Alpha, Abel, Adam, America (Lawrence). He is able to
fully convey that Hester is sinful with negatively connotated words that are organized in a repetitive
way. Relating Hester to Abel represents his dislike towards her as well as shows her sin because it
represents how low he views her. Abel was not an innocent character, to say the least. Lawrence uses
this comparison in a way that flips their roles in a sense, and it draws a huge impact. Lawrence finds
ways of camouflaging the ways he uses repetition as well, Worship her there. The Woman, the Magna
Mater (Lawrence). By saying that she is a women and then writing that she is just a fertility mother, he
concludes her guilt as sinful for committing her actions and

The Intrinsic Description Of Adequate Boarding
This past weekend I went back to my home town; Jacksonville, Fl, and visited with some of my old

One of the motivators paddle boarding can be described as is Intrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation

Identified motivation means people participate because they see the value and get something out of it

accumulate, and associated fees, this option is by far the most costly. However, these costs can
sometimes be paid for over a set amount of time, reducing the overall burden.
Bankruptcy This option removes a good portion of debt entirely, with a few exceptions, such as
student loans and mortgages. However, the filing and attorney fees can be high and are often required
during the process.
Which option is right for you will be determined by your current financial situation. For those who
experienced a temporary reduction in income, but have since returned to near normal income may find
that debt settlement is the right way to go. However, those who are in financial trouble, where
repaying even reduced debts will cause undo hardship will likely benefit more from filing

How Are Creation Myths Created
The world started with nothing but how did everything come to be? How did water come to be? How
were animals created? How were humans formed? Science may give us many answers but some
things are still missing. Creation myths help fill the hole that science has left us with and, it gives us a
good basis on how the earth was formed. All the creation myths explain the whereabouts about the
essentials of the earth and they tell a story that helps people comprehend the massive undertaking that
has taken place. The creation myths start at the beginning. For example in the Aztecs believed that In
the beginning was the void. It was at some ancient time in the Aztec creation story that the dual god,
Ometecuhtli/Omecihuatl, created itself. (Aztec

Steroids In The MLB
The MLB has had an uproar of issues when it comes to the use of substances. The biggest issue that
the MLB focuses primarily on is the use of steroids. An even bigger issue that should be highlighted is
the use of chewing tobacco while playing the game. When something becomes known as possibly life
threatening, the logical explanation is that it is illegal or illegal for people under a certain age. In this
case being illegal is not the explanation, when in fact this substance is the cause of over 400,000
deaths every year. Tobacco is the commonly used substance responsible for these hundreds of
thousands of deaths every year. In response to the many hazards that come with tobacco use, the
Major League Baseball Association is trying to outlaw ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

strokes. If tobacco advertisement companies put these things in their commercials the rate in users

Smokeless tobacco in the MLB should be banned for good, and the transition of promoting a healthy

coordinating the two day workshop, I took the ownership of workshop agenda, attendee list, guiding

during the first few weeks of life, it is thought that this begins once an infant obtains the ability to
settle back to sleep by themselves. This is a good example of self regulation because in this situation
the infant is able to control their emotions and adjust it to their situation so they can go to sleep.

Why Do We Grow Up Differently
We all grow up differently. We have different parents, siblings, houses and experiences that shape us
into the people we are today. We interact with different people and we watch those who are around us.
Everyone can impact our life but it is you who chooses who. Everyone is different and I am no
exception, this is who I am.
I am one of the few people that get to experience having a twin. We were born in Springfield,
Missouri on October 14th. I was 5 pounds and my sister, Mariah, was 4. We were a month premature
so we had a few health problems. Mariah and I were both born with holes in our hearts. As we grew,
the holes fixed themselves. Unfortunately, this was not the end. Mariah was kept in the ICU for a few
months after we were born. When I was about 6 8 months old, I came down with whooping cough. I
fought through and barely made it. I grew up in Marshfield. My favorite thing to do was read. I would
read instead of watching tv or I would go outside and play with Mariah in the mud. When my brother,
Jordan and my nephews and nieces started to be being born. I became a mother hen. This is where I

What Home Schooling Really Is
The educational thesaurus defines home schooling as provision of compulsory education in the home
as an alternative to traditional public/private schooling often motivated by parental desire to exclude
their children from the traditional school environment (ERIC [EBSCO]). Home schooling is also
defined by The Well Trained Mind website as Home schooling occurs when parents take charge of
their children s education organizing subjects, teaching lessons or arranging for tutors, evaluating
progress, and supervising social contacts. Home school parents believe that one on one attention and

higher than the average score for the rest of the population. This kind of increase over the population
should raise some eyebrows and have people questioning, what are home schoolers doing that my
child isn t doing or what is a home schooled child being taught that my child is not being taught. The
boost in academic excellence over the rest of the population may explain the recent statistics given by
the Census Bureau. The Census Bureau estimates that some 30 million children could eventually stay

are the key benefits of home schooling your child?
Pros and Cons of Home Schooling

The Problem Of Computer Programming Education
Through the Educate to Innovate Initiative, the current administration has made the case that
investments in STEM programs (science, technology, engineering and math) are essential to
maintaining the status of international competitiveness. But since the start of the program in 2009, the
importance of computer programming education is still being misunderstood and inadequately
addressed. Though the administration has tried to get more technology into schools, it s failed to teach
kids what could really help them compete internationally which is coding. Computer programming is
the driving force behind all forms of computer technology. Without programmers, these machines
could be more innovative and capable than mankind could ever imagine, but if there is no one to
program, there is no way for computers to perform needed tasks.
Though technology has become such a key point in the national discussion on education, computer
literacy is still sometimes confused with computer science. While computer literacy refers to word
processing and knowledgeable use of the Internet, computer science refers to the study of algorithmic
processes, hardware and software designs, and ways to impact society with technological innovation.
A general computer science curriculum largely consists of critical thinking, problem solving, and logic
the skills that American students will need in order to compete for the best jobs, whether or not they
become programmers (James, 2013).

Quantitative Positive Disclosures With Quantitative...
Less profitable firms or high debt firms could use SER disclosures to legitimise activities to lenders
and shareholders (Haniffa and Cooke 2005). SERs can be used by managers to frame how Financial
stake holders interpret financial information, specifically to manipulate stakeholders reaction to
disappointing financial reports, by changing the focus and constructing a disconfirmatory effect on the
financial figures (Neu et al., 1998, p.270). Qualitative positive disclosures with quantitative negative
disclosures (Gibbins et al., 1990) can be used as a method to down play managerial incompetence and
persuade financial stakeholders to excuse past mistakes by using their ethical or socially responsible
displays to compensate. This is a contrasting view to legitimacy theory which emphasizes an
organisations need for actions to be perceived by stakeholders as legitimate (Deegan and Unerman,
2011). In this instance, SERs are used as a method to manage a situation when the expectations of
stakeholders are not met. When an organisation fails to be perceived as legitimate, they use SERs to
demonstrate that it can only improve upon its past actions and regain legitimacy.
A factor influencing management to produce SERs would be to attract investment funds and take
advantage of the practical market for ethically responsible investment funds (Deegan, 2002). If an
organisation can demonstrate favourable environmental performance they are more likely to be
approved to join the Dow

do to eradicate this hatred and discrimination. No Better Blues, Chance The Rapper: Chance s song,
No Better Blues, satirically juxtaposes each line with hatred to describe things that he is actually quite
fond of. Lately, it seems like people have been hyperbolically negative toward everything. Nearly
every conversation I have is criticizing or complaining about one thing or another. Chance chastises

Cole: People often derive far too much of their opinion from stereotypical first impressions and
limited perspectives. Not only does this song represent the prejudice that many minority communities
(mainly black) undergo, but it connects to me personally as well. Far too often do people take a single
glance at someone and immediately assume their character based upon pre established stereotypes. In
Neighbors, Cole narrates his experience living in a rich white neighborhood surrounded by the trees
and Ivy League, and how all of the neighbors think I m [he s] sellin dope. Granted, Cole admits that
his friends are stand[ing] outside and pass[ing] cigars filled with marijuana, though. Either way, his
neighbors are simply suspecting that he is selling weed simply because of his, and his friends , skin
color. In my case, people often see me for the first time, and they immediately assume that because of
my long hair and beard that I am simply a no good stoner. Meanwhile, in reality, my grades are
exceptional and I m an intelligent person. What s interesting though, is that Cole somewhat embraces
this perception by declaring, well motherfucker, I am. Cole uses a play on words here to show that he
is indeed sellin dope, but that dope is actually his dope music. He sends out a message to all who are
discriminated against because of their appearance to, rather than ignoring it, embracing their looks and

Determinism Vs Libertarianism
Akash Shankar Richard Pulling 7 23 2015 Philosophy Are You Free The concept of determinism,
compatibilism and libertarianism is truly trying to explain if we are free and if so how much. Some of
us believe that we are the masters of our fate, our soul while others believe our destiny is
predetermined and that we are bound to a certain set goal in life. The concepts of determinism,
compatibilism and libertarianism try to help aid in that discussion and help enlighten us on what we
believe is the correct ideology. It is therefore extremely important to define what each of these three
concepts mean before comparing and contrasting the various arguments that each present. First off is

For example the deterministic view has one major weak side that is clearly seen in the Loeb and
Leopold case. Richard Loeb and Nathan Leopold were two young men who had privileged families
and attended the best schools. However they murdered a fourteen year old boy to experience the thrill
of killing someone. The public wanted the death penalty to be handed down but attorney Clarence
Darrow fought and won a life imprisonment verdict (Chaffee 177).The attorney employed a hard
determinist argument to show the judge that his clients were victims of circumstance and they were
beyond their own control. He even says in the trial that nature is strong and she is pitiless. She works
in her own mysterious way, and we are her victims (Chaffee 177). His argument obviously worked as
the two young men were not sentenced to death. This one case in my opinion shows how determinism
does not make sense to me. I absolutely believe that the environment and the way were brought up has
an effect on how we act on the decisions we make. But at the end of the day I also believe that we
should be fully help responsible for the actions that we make. These two young men in my opinion
should have been punished to the full degree. The deterministic argument puts too much emphasis on
the environment and other factors instead of one s self in my opinion. I could be taught and raised to

The Positive Impacts Of Community Development In South Africa
Community development around the world is being practised by various entities, addressing various
socio economic issues that are unique to different communities worldwide. According to
Bhattacharyya (2004), community development initiatives are dominant in democratic countries.
There are various initiatives that have led to significant shifts in the wellbeing of communities using
different development tools to develop communities around the world. South African, which is a
democratic country has one of the highest income gabs in the world. The country s income difference
is evident in many townships/rural areas around the country s underdeveloped communities. The
positive impact of community development may be seen in the fields of public health, micro macro
development, food and violence (Bhattacharyya, 2004).
Community development is multi faceted. Bhattacharyya (2004) argues that community development
is not a distinct field and that not everything that is being done by developers to improve communities
should not be regarded as community development. Bhattacharyya (2004) states that it should only be
regarded as community development if the improvement pursues solidarity and agency which can be
achieved through adhering to the principles of self help, felt needs and participation.
In previous community development research, Bhattacharyya (2004) finds that locality has been used
as a proxy for community development. He argues that it is becoming analytically irrelevant

Deaf Education During The 1900 s
The rich history of American Deaf culture in conjunction withlanguage displays the determination
along with the brilliance of these people. Though the hearing world had called them sin, denounced
them as dumb, these people rose up against their oppressors, making a new world for themselves.
Deaf people have always existed, as did discrimination towards deaf people. As far back as 384 322
BCE, people had been saying that deaf people could not learn. Due to Deaf people being seen as
inferior, we hardly have any documented history on them before the early 1500 s. Patient parents of
Deaf children needed to have a way to communicate with their young, through this need the rise of
Deaf education began. Geronimo Cardano, a mathematician, created ... Show more content on

Jane Fernandes s appointment as President Gallaudet University, leaving the auditorium with plans of
protest. For the second time in Gallaudet s history, students march their way to the front gates,
refusing to leave. Students rallied, inducing the resignation of Celia May Baldwin. These events were
11 years ago, showing that Deaf people still feel oppressed. What happened at Gallaudet rippled
across the globe, causing an uprising in Mississippi School for the Deaf. Though there are many
improvements in America, we all still have a very long way to go for advocacy of both deaf and

The Specificity Of Inhibitory Impairments
The Specificity Of Inhibitory Impairments In Autism And Their Relation To ADHD Type Symptoms
Adam Scavo
Des Moines Area Community College Children with autism are showing signs of ADHD type
symptoms at younger ages. Attention Deficit/hyperactivity disorder, also known as ADHD is known to
effect children more than it does adults, Population surveys suggest that ADHD occurs in most
cultures in about 5% of children and about 2.5% of adults (American Psychiatric Association). ADHD
mostly begins in the adolecent years of the life. The requirement that several symptoms be present
before 12 years of age conveys the importance of a substantial clinical presentation during childhood.

Autistic toddlers differ more strikingly from social norms; for example, they have less eye contact and
turn taking, and do not have the ability to use simple movements to express themselves, such as
pointing at things. In recent years, reported frequencies for autism spectrum disorder across U.S. and
non U.S. countries have approached 1% of the population, with similar estimates in childhood and
adult samples. It remains unclear whether higher rates reflect and expansion of the diagnostic criteria
of DSM IV to include subthreshold cases, increased awareness, differences in study methodology, or a
true increase in the frequency of autism spectrum disorder (American Psychiatric Association). There
have been many studies that have correlated the link between autism and ADHD type symptoms. A
test done by Charlotte Sanderson and Melissa L. Allen showed the correlation of ADHD symptoms
and Autism Spectrum Disorder. They used three tests to study the children that they were using in this
experiment, the first was the Go/No go task followed by the Dog Pig Stroop test and finally the
flanker test. The Go/ No go task is where they used four shapes (square, circle, triangle, and diamond)
and the children were told to press a large star shaped button corresponding to three of the shapes,
while resisting the fourth shape. The trial had time limits of 1000 ms before automatic termination of
the trial, after the termination of the trial there was a 1,100

Internet Predators Essay
Internet Predators
In recent years, the Internet has become the number one choice for doing research. A person can find
information on just about anything. There are websites devoted to cooking recipes, musicians, schools,
and pornography. Many schools will even allow students to apply for admission over the Internet.
Schools such as California State University, Northridge give students an option to register for classes
through the school website, making it quick and easy to get classes. The Internet is truly the
information superhighway.
Not everyone who accesses the Internet uses it for research. Many people, especially young people use
the Internet for e mail and chatting. Chat rooms and instant messengers are becoming more ... Show

Yet, the reality is that a woman may be talking to someone who is on parole for sexual abuse. There is
absolutely no way to know whether or not someone is lying about their identity. I personally have
always chatted on the Internet with skepticism. There are precautions one can take to prevent getting
in trouble on the Internet. Some general rules one should follow include not giving out one s phone
number, not giving out a picture of one s self, and not meeting anyone in person that one met on the
Internet. Giving out a person s picture is one of the most common errors on the Internet. It never
seizes to amaze me that the first question out of someone s mouth when they send me an instant
message is if I have a picture. Although I do, I say no, unless it is someone that I positively know.
Upon receiving someone else s picture, I often wonder if that is what the person really looks like. The
world is full of dishonesty; it does not surprise me that some people use another person s picture.
People have been known to pretend to be someone they are not while chatting. I admit that I have
pretended to be someone else when I was really bored. I have pretended to be older than I am, I have
pretended to be someone of the opposite sex, and I have pretended to be a very aggressive, outgoing
person. I happen to be a person who is too passive most of the time.
People who pretend to be someone else are what make the Internet so dangerous.

Advantages to a Rigorous Approach to Environmental Virtue...
A good ethical theory requires both logical rigor and intuitive appeal to provide an effective tool for
understanding what is right and what is wrong. In the field of environmental ethics, there has been
significant scholarship in developing a duty ethics based on the inherent value of nature, most notably
by Paul Taylor. Taylor indeed provides a logically clear argument for protecting the environment by
building on the principles he calls the biocentric outlook (Taylor, 99). While this scholarship has been
helpful in offering an explanation for what those who value the environment intuitively recognize,
some have noticed that it does not provide positive answers to how we should live (Cafaro, 31). Virtue
ethicists, on the other hand, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additional insight is gained by examining the formal conditions presented by Taylor (Taylor, 27.). A
summary of these conditions is that an ethical system must be: general in form, universal in
application and, as a standard of right and wrong, it must outweigh any non moral concerns.
Because of this universal nature, these systems are described as normative ethics (as opposed to meta
ethics, which describes the nature of ethics itself, or applied ethics which applies an ethical standard to
a practical situation). Any discussion of norms quickly encounters the problems familiar to the other
branches of philosophy: Are universal norms? If there are how can we know what they are? How do I
demonstrate that something is a norm? These questions are far beyond the scope of any one system of
normative ethics and certainly beyond this paper. Thus, we must leave an elaborate justification for the
reason for adopting a specific set of norms to different discussion.
To that end, I propose that the purpose of a system of ethics should be to identify a self consistent set
of normative claims that would be accepted by any morally responsible individual . Where a morally
responsible individual is defined as someone whom other morally responsible individuals identify as
such. This definition is obviously self referential and poses yet more questions that are beyond the
scope of this paper. However, this definition can provide a minimal criterion

More often, they consume processed foods which contain high levels of sugar, salt, and fats. Because these delectable treats have little to no nutritional benefit, the public has deemed them junk foods. As junk food becomes more and more prevalent in society, the obesity rates are also rising among children and adults alike. The government proposed a tax on junk food to lower the consumption of junk food obsession and was met with disapproval from the public. • 4. The Nature Of The Prince In Machiavelli s The Prince A Lion is a King and a Fox is the Thief Since, then, a prince must know how to use well the nature of the beast, he should choose from among the beasts the fox and the lion; for the lion cannot defend itself from traps, while the fox cannot protect itself from the wolves. It is therefore necessary to be a fox, in order to recognize the traps, and a lion, in order to frighten the wolves (Machiavelli 60). When must the Prince be the lion and when must he be the fox? In The Prince written by Machiavelli, Machiavelli writes to the Prince to tell him the best way to rule over a principality, and the consequences of the decisions he makes in his ruling. Machiavelli applies figurative language, such as metaphors to explain the way a situation will often play out. He represents different roles of leadership as animals. The different animals, lion, wolf, fox, have varying characteristics. Machiavelli uses the metaphors of a lion and a fox in order to illustrate the need for a prince to be both strong and brave and sly and cunning. The effect of these metaphors is to demonstrate that a prince must demonstrate more than just one characteristic in order to lead with power and authority. The Prince needs to know how to use well the nature of the beast (60). He must think like an animal in matters that concern his ruling. If the Prince thinks as an animal his priorities would then be to ensure the security of the kingdom and his throne. His military strength will prevent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Importance Of Art And Literature In The Perception Of Society The importance of Art and Literature in the Perception of Society Art and literature contain the power to transport one to extraordinary settings and time periods. Depending on the novel, the reader can travel the lands of Narnia and uncover ways to prevent bullying without even leaving the chair. Likewise, with art, one can join the Picasso era and identify the struggles he encountered. Clearly, creative compositions aid in portraying the different aspects of society and Miriam Toews effectively unravels this mystery in her novel The Flying Troutmans. The author demonstrates how art and literature helps one make sense of the world around them by considering different perspectives, by analyzing character developments, and by building intellect. This eventually leads to self understanding. Art and literature become a source of guidance when one learns from the integrated insights of human experiences. Many writers incorporate unique characters, allowing the audience to view situations through unfamiliar perspectives and discover significant information. For example, Min, Logan and Thebes mother, attempts suicide several times, experiences heartbreak, and eventually, refuses to meet with her family. For Min, novels are [her] girl guide to the universe...[Her] library of loss (Toews 167) since she can identify with the central characters. • 17. Challenges in Defining and Classifying Normal and Abnormal... Challenges in defining and classifying normal abnormal behavior with regards to age In the study of abnormal psychology, one of the contentions often debated upon is the determination of abnormal behavior in terms of specific demographics, such as age, gender, and race. However, determining abnormal behavior in terms of age (for example) is a problematic endeavor in that the concept of abnormal behavior itself is subject to different social (cultural) interpretations. One of the challenges encountered in determining normal and abnormal behavior in general (which includes age) is social norms. Because social norms vary across societies and cultures, an acceptable behavior in one culture might be considered abnormal in another. Another challenge to determining normal/abnormal behavior is historical variation in terms of acceptable and unacceptable behavior. An example would be the hyperactivity of children: before, this behavior is considered normal as children are considered playful and have short attention span as a result. However, over time, psychologists have identified this kind of behavior as not normal for children, and individuals who demonstrate hyperactivity and very short attention span as having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) (Butcher, 2010:146). At best, objective determination of normal/abnormal behavior is through diagnostic systems, one of which is the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, also called DSM. Published ... Lawrence s writing The Scarlet Letter by, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Lawrence shares his beliefs that Hester Prynne is fully guilty in the Puritan society for committing the sin of adultery. Lawrence believes that all women have the ultimate goal of seducing men. He feels very strongly that Hester s character should not have any heroic praise, and he finds ways of justifying the way the Puritans beliefs. Lawrence uses methods of brief repetition, direct syntax, and complacent tone to convey that Hester Prynne is guilty. D.H. Lawrence uses brief repetition to represent that Hester is guilty of sin. Lawrence finds ways of writing repetition in the attempt to get his point across without hesitation when he states, Adulteress, Alpha, Abel, Adam, America (Lawrence). He is able to fully convey that Hester is sinful with negatively connotated words that are organized in a repetitive way. Relating Hester to Abel represents his dislike towards her as well as shows her sin because it represents how low he views her. Abel was not an innocent character, to say the least. Lawrence uses this comparison in a way that flips their roles in a sense, and it draws a huge impact. Lawrence finds ways of camouflaging the ways he uses repetition as well, Worship her there. The Problem Of Computer Programming Education Through the Educate to Innovate Initiative, the current administration has made the case that investments in STEM programs (science, technology, engineering and math) are essential to maintaining the status of international competitiveness. But since the start of the program in 2009, the importance of computer programming education is still being misunderstood and inadequately addressed. Though the administration has tried to get more technology into schools, it s failed to teach kids what could really help them compete internationally which is coding. Computer programming is the driving force behind all forms of computer technology. Without programmers, these machines could be more innovative and capable than mankind could ever imagine, but if there is no one to program, there is no way for computers to perform needed tasks. Less profitable firms or high debt firms could use SER disclosures to legitimise activities to lenders and shareholders (Haniffa and Cooke 2005). SERs can be used by managers to frame how Financial stake holders interpret financial information, specifically to manipulate stakeholders reaction to disappointing financial reports, by changing the focus and constructing a disconfirmatory effect on the financial figures (Neu et al., 1998, p.270). Qualitative positive disclosures with quantitative negative disclosures (Gibbins et al., 1990) can be used as a method to down play managerial incompetence and persuade financial stakeholders to excuse past mistakes by using their ethical or socially responsible displays to compensate. This is a contrasting view to legitimacy theory which emphasizes an organisations need for actions to be perceived by stakeholders as legitimate (Deegan and Unerman, 2011). In this instance, SERs are used as a method to manage a situation when the expectations of stakeholders are not met. When an organisation fails to be perceived as legitimate, they use SERs to demonstrate that it can only improve upon its past actions and regain legitimacy. A factor influencing management to produce SERs would be to attract investment funds and take advantage of the practical market for ethically responsible investment funds (Deegan, 2002). The concepts of determinism, compatibilism and libertarianism try to help aid in that discussion and help enlighten us on what we believe is the correct ideology. The public wanted the death penalty to be handed down but attorney Clarence Darrow fought and won a life imprisonment verdict (Chaffee 177).The attorney employed a hard determinist argument to show the judge that his clients were victims of circumstance and they were beyond their own control. You never know what youre gonna get. With thefeather floating to random places, e.g. on top of cars, on peoples shoulders, on thefloor It shows how random life can be, and how no one ever knows what lies in theirpath of life, what obstacles they will have to overcome, and what their destiny is.A very interesting effect the feather is shot from in the opening scene is that it isa extreme long shot of different parts of the town, allowing the audience to adapt thesetting of the film into their minds, whilst the feather is shot from multiple angles, sometimes close up, and sometimes using medium shots. With the words and the townbackground, the feather interestingly, is still the focal point of the whole shot, andunintentionally, your eyes follow wherever it is going even when the background ischanged drastically. When the feather is shot in the sky, it is from a low angle, which shows theimportance of it as a sign, so it feels as if the feather is superior to the ... • 45. The Positive Impacts Of Community Development In South Africa Community development around the world is being practised by various entities, addressing various socio economic issues that are unique to different communities worldwide. According to Bhattacharyya (2004), community development initiatives are dominant in democratic countries. There are various initiatives that have led to significant shifts in the wellbeing of communities using different development tools to develop communities around the world. South African, which is a democratic country has one of the highest income gabs in the world. The country s income difference is evident in many townships/rural areas around the country s underdeveloped communities. The positive impact of community development may be seen in the fields of public health, micro macro development, food and violence (Bhattacharyya, 2004). Community development is multi faceted. Bhattacharyya (2004) argues that community development is not a distinct field and that not everything that is being done by developers to improve communities should not be regarded as community development. Bhattacharyya (2004) states that it should only be regarded as community development if the improvement pursues solidarity and agency which can be achieved through adhering to the principles of self help, felt needs and participation. In previous community development research, Bhattacharyya (2004) finds that locality has been used as a proxy for community development. He argues that it is becoming analytically irrelevant ... • 46. Deaf Education During The 1900 s The rich history of American Deaf culture in conjunction withlanguage displays the determination along with the brilliance of these people. Though the hearing world had called them sin, denounced them as dumb, these people rose up against their oppressors, making a new world for themselves. Deaf people have always existed, as did discrimination towards deaf people. As far back as 384 322 BCE, people had been saying that deaf people could not learn. Due to Deaf people being seen as inferior, we hardly have any documented history on them before the early 1500 s. Patient parents of Deaf children needed to have a way to communicate with their young, through this need the rise of Deaf education began. Geronimo Cardano, a mathematician, created ... For the second time in Gallaudet s history, students march their way to the front gates, refusing to leave. Students rallied, inducing the resignation of Celia May Baldwin. These events were 11 years ago, showing that Deaf people still feel oppressed. What happened at Gallaudet rippled across the globe, causing an uprising in Mississippi School for the Deaf. Though there are many improvements in America, we all still have a very long way to go for advocacy of both deaf and disabled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Specificity Of Inhibitory Impairments The Specificity Of Inhibitory Impairments In Autism And Their Relation To ADHD Type Symptoms Adam Scavo Des Moines Area Community College Children with autism are showing signs of ADHD type symptoms at younger ages. Attention Deficit/hyperactivity disorder, also known as ADHD is known to effect children more than it does adults, Population surveys suggest that ADHD occurs in most cultures in about 5% of children and about 2.5% of adults (American Psychiatric Association). ADHD mostly begins in the adolecent years of the life. The requirement that several symptoms be present before 12 years of age conveys the importance of a substantial clinical presentation during childhood. Autistic toddlers differ more strikingly from social norms; for example, they have less eye contact and turn taking, and do not have the ability to use simple movements to express themselves, such as pointing at things. In recent years, reported frequencies for autism spectrum disorder across U.S. and non U.S. countries have approached 1% of the population, with similar estimates in childhood and adult samples. It remains unclear whether higher rates reflect and expansion of the diagnostic criteria of DSM IV to include subthreshold cases, increased awareness, differences in study methodology, or a true increase in the frequency of autism spectrum disorder (American Psychiatric Association). There have been many studies that have correlated the link between autism and ADHD type symptoms. A test done by Charlotte Sanderson and Melissa L. Allen showed the correlation of ADHD symptoms and Autism Spectrum Disorder. They used three tests to study the children that they were using in this experiment, the first was the Go/No go task followed by the Dog Pig Stroop test and finally the flanker test. The Go/ No go task is where they used four shapes (square, circle, triangle, and diamond) and the children were told to press a large star shaped button corresponding to three of the shapes, while resisting the fourth shape. The trial had time limits of 1000 ms before automatic termination of the trial, after the termination of the trial there was a 1,100 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Internet Predators Essay Internet Predators In recent years, the Internet has become the number one choice for doing research. A person can find information on just about anything. There are websites devoted to cooking recipes, musicians, schools, and pornography. Many schools will even allow students to apply for admission over the Internet. Schools such as California State University, Northridge give students an option to register for classes through the school website, making it quick and easy to get classes. The Internet is truly the information superhighway. Not everyone who accesses the Internet uses it for research. Many people, especially young people use the Internet for e mail and chatting. There is absolutely no way to know whether or not someone is lying about their identity. I personally have always chatted on the Internet with skepticism. There are precautions one can take to prevent getting in trouble on the Internet. Some general rules one should follow include not giving out one s phone number, not giving out a picture of one s self, and not meeting anyone in person that one met on the Internet. Giving out a person s picture is one of the most common errors on the Internet. It never seizes to amaze me that the first question out of someone s mouth when they send me an instant message is if I have a picture. Although I do, I say no, unless it is someone that I positively know. Upon receiving someone else s picture, I often wonder if that is what the person really looks like. The world is full of dishonesty; it does not surprise me that some people use another person s picture. People have been known to pretend to be someone they are not while chatting. I admit that I have pretended to be someone else when I was really bored. I have pretended to be older than I am, I have pretended to be someone of the opposite sex, and I have pretended to be a very aggressive, outgoing person. I happen to be a person who is too passive most of the time. People who pretend to be someone else are what make the Internet so dangerous. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Advantages to a Rigorous Approach to Environmental Virtue... A good ethical theory requires both logical rigor and intuitive appeal to provide an effective tool for understanding what is right and what is wrong. In the field of environmental ethics, there has been significant scholarship in developing a duty ethics based on the inherent value of nature, most notably by Paul Taylor. Taylor indeed provides a logically clear argument for protecting the environment by building on the principles he calls the biocentric outlook (Taylor, 99). While this scholarship has been helpful in offering an explanation for what those who value the environment intuitively recognize, some have noticed that it does not provide positive answers to how we should live (Cafaro, 31). Virtue ethicists, on the other hand, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additional insight is gained by examining the formal conditions presented by Taylor (Taylor, 27.). A summary of these conditions is that an ethical system must be: general in form, universal in application and, as a standard of right and wrong, it must outweigh any non moral concerns. Because of this universal nature, these systems are described as normative ethics (as opposed to meta ethics, which describes the nature of ethics itself, or applied ethics which applies an ethical standard to a practical situation). Any discussion of norms quickly encounters the problems familiar to the other branches of philosophy: Are universal norms? If there are how can we know what they are? How do I demonstrate that something is a norm? These questions are far beyond the scope of any one system of normative ethics and certainly beyond this paper. Thus, we must leave an elaborate justification for the reason for adopting a specific set of norms to different discussion. To that end, I propose that the purpose of a system of ethics should be to identify a self consistent set of normative claims that would be accepted by any morally responsible individual . Where a morally responsible individual is defined as someone whom other morally responsible individuals identify as such. This definition is obviously self referential and poses yet more questions that are beyond the scope of this paper. However, this definition can provide a minimal criterion ...
