Top 10 Drugs and Their Effects
Top 10 Drugs and Their Effects
Drug abuse is a very common problem in most countries so it seemed like a good topic for a list. This
is a list of ten of the most abused drugs and the effects they have on people.
1. Heroin
Heroin is an opiate processed directly from the extracts of the opium poppy. It was originally created
to help cure people of addiction to morphine. Upon crossing the blood brain barrier, which occurs
soon after introduction of the drug into the bloodstream, heroin is converted into morphine, which
mimics the action of endorphins, creating a sense of well being; the characteristic euphoria has been
described as an orgasm centered in the gut. One of the most common methods of heroin use is via

It is considered mainly a recreational drug that s often used with sex and associated with club drugs, as
an entheogen, and a tool in use to supplement various types of practices for transcendence including in
meditation, psychonautics, and illicit psychedelic psychotherapy whether self administered or not. The
primary effects of MDMA include an increased awareness of the senses, feelings of openness,
euphoria, empathy, love, happiness, heightened self awareness, feeling of mental clarity and an
increased appreciation of music and movement. Tactile sensations are enhanced for some users,
making physical contact with others more pleasurable. Other side effects, such as jaw clenching and
elevated pulse, are common.
7. Opium
Opium is a resinous narcotic formed from the latex released by lacerating (or scoring ) the immature
seed pods of opium poppies (Papaver somniferum). It contains up to 16% morphine, an opiate
alkaloid, which is most frequently processed chemically to produce heroin for the illegal drug trade.
Opium has gradually been superseded by a variety of purified, semi synthetic, and synthetic opioids
with progressively stronger effect, and by other general anesthesia. This process began in 1817, when
Friedrich Wilhelm Adam Sertürner reported the isolation of pure morphine from opium after at least
thirteen years of

Comparison Of Stonehenge And Paganism
Stonehenge and Paganism A lot of scientific interpretations of Stonehenge that are proposed by
archaeologists are often at war , so to speak, with other archaeological interpretations by faith
communities. One of these particular arguments is that Paganism is not considered to be a real
religion, like that of Christianity or the Islamic faith. Paganism is not widely practiced in the United
States like it is over in the UK and other European countries. Stonehenge has been connected in one
way or another to the religion of Paganism.
Building of Stonehenge Stonehenge was built in the Neolithic early Bronze Age era. The human race
did not settle in the area of Wiltshire until around 4,000 BCE 3,000 BCE (Cusack 2012). According to
Fagan, local farmers built a simple enclosure (Cusack 2012). There are five stones, which consist of
the Heel Stone that is located outside of the north eastern entrance. The Slaughter Stone, which lies
flat on the east side of the entranceway, is considered to be part of a pair that could have created an
entrance. The final two Station Stones are located in the bank (Cusack 2012). Over the few hundred
years, more timber monuments were built, possibly to assist in the purpose of Stonehenge. Many
archaeologists have disputed over the phases of not only the construction of Stonehenge but also the
chronology of Stonehenge as well as the possibilities of what it was used for (Cusack 2012). Some
people have thought of Stonehenge as being some kind of

How Did Alexander The Great Affect The Age Of The...
Imagine a world without splendorous leisure activities. The people of the Hellenistic Age most
certainly couldn t! The creation of their extravagant culture that focused on the enjoyment of life and
the understanding of human emotion is owed to Alexander the Great s conquest of Persia and his
decision to mix his native Greek culture with the cultures of the new lands he now owned in his vast
empire. This extremely intriguing age, which lasted for about 300 years, was responsible for many of
the ideas that are still upheld in today s culture, and the people of this time established many important
artistic and philosophical ideals that have lasted for thousands of years. The Hellenistic Age began
after the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BCE (atg timeline). His conquest of Persia after the
Battle of Gaugamela in 331 BCE technically spurred Hellenism, or the spreading of Greek culture
(adtp). Alexander the Great s empire of over seventy cities spread all the way from the west of the
Mediterranean to the east of Persia, and became a hotbed for the mixing of cultures (thought co).
People within this territory assimilated the Greek language, which then allowed for the spread of other
parts of Greek culture, like arts, philosophy, and literature (world of atg). After conquering Persia,
Alexander the Great began to introduce aspects of Greek culture through his new empire in many
different ways. He encouraged his soldiers to marry with Persian women in order to

Tenure Argumentative Essay
Proponents also advocate that teacher tenure will generate and guarantee innovation in teaching.
Teachers starting out are constantly being watched and evaluated on their performance and
effectiveness in the classroom. Most teachers stick to the book and their guidelines they have to follow
for the curriculum. There is not much innovation or new strategies that will help students learn more
effectively. Mr. Griffin from Garden Grove High School said that Tenure is like a pat on the back for a
job well done and allows you to have a little bit more freedom as a teacher (Ancheta 6). By having
tenure, it allows teachers to come out of their box and bring new effective strategies to the classroom
that will the students learn the material in a much better way. Many teachers feel pressured overall and
are afraid to bring or try something new in the classroom. Tenure is a reward for hard work in the
classroom and gives teachers a sense of confidence in what they are doing, knowing that they are
doing their job right. Many of these teachers who receive tenure will drive themselves into ... Show

The job as a teacher is to give the students knowledge of that subject, teach the students in an effective
way that will stick to them, make learning enjoyable and have the students leave in a remarkable
manner. The early stages in a child s life are crucial to the development as a human being. Although,
there are many factors that can affect the student s outcome, the teacher is one of them and can play a
big role. Our school system deserves qualified and effective teachers in the classroom that are for the
students. Bad teachers negatively affect students in such a way that it can have a lasting effect that can
be difficult or impossible to reverse. We have this opportunity in time to improve our school system
and to steer the future of our country in the right way. What are we going to do about

Dan Glickman at ShoWest Essay
Dan Glickman at ShoWest LAS VEGAS Citing long term trends to offset short term dips, Dan
Glickman, who became president and CEO of the MPAA in September, presented his first state of the
industry address Tuesday at ShoWest 2005. Speaking to a crowded house of exhibitors and
distributors at the Paris hotel in what he dubbed his maiden voyage to the annual convention,
Glickman judged that the industry is healthy. We have had some growth this year not radical growth,
but the trends are positive. According to the MPAA s bookkeepers, U.S. boxoffice for 2004 amounted
to $9.54 billion, up slightly from $9.49 billion the year before. Glickman noted that 2004 was the third

At the same time, there were slight increases in the costs of trailers and online Internet advertising. As
a result, the costs of producing and releasing the average MPAA release rang in at $98 million, down
almost 5% from 2003 s record of $102.8 million. While only one out of 10 films recoups its costs
during its theatrical release, four out of 10 make money during their full life cycle. Glickman cited
long term trends, though, to buttress his contention that the industry remains on solid ground. Over the
past five years, he noted, boxoffice has climbed more than $1 billion. And though individual
admissions have been down the past two years, they have risen 20% an average of 2% a year over the
past 10 years. Foreign boxoffice has grown even more dramatically, he added. Last year, it totaled
$15.7 billion, up more than 44% from 2003. As for moviegoers, they enjoy a relative bargain
according to National Association of Theatre Owners president John Fithian, who joined Glickman at
the early morning press conference. Last year, the average ticket price hit $6.21, up 3% over the 2003
figure of $6.03. Still, Fithian noted, that 3% increase was less than the 3.3% increase in the Consumer
Price Index for the year. Argued Fithian, Compared to other out of home entertainment options,

Informal Organization And Recognizing Signs Of Trouble
Informal Organization Recognizing Signs of Trouble Goldsmith and Katzenbach (2007) review ways
that individuals can improve their job performance through the utilization of informal connections and
exchanges. Bartolomé (1993) endorses management recognition of potential subordinate problems
that could lead to larger crises. This journal entry will discuss the ways in which organizational
learning and effectiveness can be impacted by informal organization and early discernment of
problems by managers. Formal structures, such as policy manuals and organizational charts may lay
the foundation for organizations, but it is the informal organization that informs the ways in which
work is carried out. This is why it is crucial for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another way that managers can positively influence their organization is by building trust. Trust
building between managers and subordinates is the crucial first step to preventing organizational
crises. Effective managers understand that trust building requires facilitation of communication, while
being supportive, respectful, fair, consistent, and capable. Communication refers to open information
sharing with groups and individuals. It should address organizational concerns, operations, policies,
strategies, decisions, financial allocations, and challenges being faced. A supportive manager cares
about the well being of their employees. They are easily accessible, helpful, reassuring, and protective.
Respect is earned when managers value and implement employee ideas and give them important tasks
to accomplish. Fairness involves objectively recognizing the appropriate employees for task
completion and accomplishments. Being consistent shows employees that managers are reliable, while
professionalism and behaving sensibly display capability (Bartolomé, 1993, p. 7 11). Aside from
communication about potential problems from subordinates, managers receive information by way of
formal organizational structures. Furthermore, many managers possess an ability to foresee potential
problems that may negatively affect the organization

The Symbols Of The Bear
Chose to write about this story because it is full of many ideas and symbols that are reflected in
reality. The author may have written this story for other reasons, but at least I understand it in a
different way and will work on a conceptual analysis of it.
I drew attention to this sentence mentioned by the writer in the first section
The encounter was unpremeditated on both sides. I was not hunting for a bear, and I have no reason to
suppose that a bear was looking for me. Because on the assumption that the bear is a symbol of the
problem and the narrator a symbol of man, the important question is: Does man seek the cause of the
problem as a result of his thinking or his actions, or is it the problems that seek behind man, since it is
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact is that escape from the problem is not a kind of lack of courage, but it may be a tactical
withdrawal so that man can gather his strength and focuses his thinking on how to salvation.
What would be my wife s mortification when the news was brought that her husband had been eaten
by a bear! I think here is a kind of humor and fun by the author, which I find unacceptable and
illogical here in such dangerous moments. Instead of thinking about survival, he is looking for what
would be told after his death or the scandal that his family will suffer because he was killed by a bear!
Perhaps the author wanted to slightly ease the reader from the tension caused by the story. The writer
finally beat the bear and managed to kill him. This teaches us persistence and patience until we
achieve victory and we can overcome the enemy.
The writer then returns to his home as a victor after overcoming his problem and killing the bear. This
reflects our sense of happiness and pride among family members, and that one is proud of himself
when overcoming his problems. Indeed, this may be one of the reasons for happiness in life, but it is
certain that happiness has many other

Elvis Presley Persuasive Essay
Elvis Presley better known as the king of rock n roll and Michael Jackson better known as the king of
pop, both are beyond iconic and have become some of the most famous musicians in history. Two
words to describe these amazing musicians are simply talented and influential. The two may be known
as the kings but they have a lot more in common than that, as well as many differences.
Michael Jackson first started his career in 1964. He was the lead singer in a group with his four
brothers. The group was called the Jackson 5. The Jackson 5 started out performing locally in their
home town Gary, Indiana. They then went on to win a talent show, where the winner would open for
Bobby Taylor a couple nights later. Bobby Taylor s promoter knew the group was unique and went out

depression, loneliness, and obesity. Elvis step brother has claimed Elvis would pass out at the dinner

of his mouth so he would not choke. On August 16, 1977 Elvis was found on his bathroom floor
unconscious. He suffered a heart attack, due to his serious drug problem. When they completed his
autopsy, they found he was not in the best of health, he had an enlarged colon that had feces in it. The
feces in his colon was probably there for four to five months. His autopsy also stated that elvis had
eleven different prescription drugs in his system. Also in his system, he had ten times the prescribed

Analysis Of The Poem Songwriting For Under Achievers
Songwriting for Under Achievers I chose to research information on how to write music because I
have always wanted to write my own music. I chose this topic because I knew I would learn a lot from
it and that it would help me in my future. I wanted to learn how to write great lyrics for my songs and
make melodies so that I may perform them to an audience. I had to research the different ways of
writing lyrics, how to come up with a title for your song, how to make a melody, and how to apply
chords to that melody. I have learned an easy way to make songs of your own so that they seem
professional but anybody could do it. This is the basics of Songcraft. In songcraft, the first thing that
you must think of should be the lyrics to your song. You may not have to use lyrics in your song which
does not change anything but most modern music these days have lyrics to express the mood of the
song more. If you want lyrics in your song or songs then the first step is to brainstorm. Choose a topic
that you want your song to cover and let your imagination run wild. Never hesitate in writing down
the first words that come to mind if you do then that is your first mistake. Lyrics aren t what somebody
has just chosen from a book or poem they are applied in the way that the artist imagines them not how
she/he wants them to sound. When I say this I do not mean that they never fix their lyrics but that they
know there meaning in the song from the lyrics even if the lyrics do not make sense

Metric System Research Paper
How many 16ths of an inch are in a mile? How many fluid ounces in a cubic inch? What is the
conversion factor between degrees celsius and degrees Fahrenheit? These are some of the terrible
questions that plague only the minds of people in three countries in the world: the United States of
America, Myanmar, and Liberia. All 193 of the other countries in the world use the metric system. The
United States of America should convert to the metric system because of the following reasons: it is
the global and scientific standard, it is much easier to use, not using it causes US consumers and
businesses to lose money, and our lack of familiarity with it is part of the reason why our students lag
so far behind much of the rest of the world in STEM ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of this occurred in 1999 when the NASA spacecraft Orbiter burned up in the Martian
atmosphere due to a conversion error. This was caused because one of the Lockheed Martin engineers
tried to use the US customary (imperial) system while all the other engineers used the metric system
(SI) This eventually caused the $125,000,000 orbiter to miss its proper orbit and burn up in the
atmosphere of mars (NASA). Although losses due to conversion errors on this magnitude are rather
uncommon, there are still other ways in which not using the metric system that can cause US
consumers and business to lose money, When selling a product, the seller needs to have sufficient
demand for their product in order to justify the cost of production. One way to increase the profit is to
start mass producing the product. This is because mass producing can significantly reduce the cost per
item to produce a product. However when there is insufficient demand for a product to mass produce
the profit margin will substantially decrease, and the price of the item for consumers will need to be
increased to maintain the cost of operations for the company making the product. This means that
because the US uses a different measurement system than the rest of the world and has different sizes
of products, that any business that makes things for our country has fewer potential buyers and a
higher cost to make each item. This means that if that business converted to the metric system that
they could potentially increase their sales by a factor of 31. Along with increasing business profits,
changing to the metric system would lead to cheaper prices for all consumers because businesses
would not need to have both metric and special US customary equipment thus, lowering the operating
costs of the

Effective Leadership Interview Assignment
For this assignment, I interviewed Katelynn Foust. During this interview, it helped me learn more
about leadership and what to expect as an RA. I learned some very valuable information that will help
me in the future as a leader. Before the interview, I had concerns and preconceptions. Katelynn also
informed me on some information that I found to be surprising and she was very informative. I
learned that to make others feel confident that it will be easier if you get to know that person and pay
attention to certain details about them. This is helpful because when working with residents if they
need some motivation or cheering up then by implementing what they are good at will help them.

I thought there was not as much paper work that went with being an RA. Also, that depending on what
resident hall you work on the atmosphere will be different. I thought that residents would most likely
act the same throughout each resident hall however, that s not the case. I learned from Katelynn that
when she worked in Oaks that the residents seemed to be needier compared to her current residents in
Pines. Also, the residents in oaks seemed to be closer and there would be more of a relationship with
them. My preconceptions were all answered and I found all the answers very informative. During the
interview, I found majority of the information very helpful but some of it was surprising. The
information I found surprising was how different it could be in different buildings. Also, how being an
RA is more than just working with their hall. I found out that the RA s should do desk hours and help
other RA s during room conflicts. The RA s help each other during difficult parts of the job and this
shows how leaders need to work together for a common purpose. Overall this interview has helped me
realize what will be the difficult part with the job and some of the perks. I learned many things about
being a leader and what to expect with being an RA. Being a leader has a lot of responsibility but there
is a lot of rewards that come with being a leader. Some of the rewards that come with being a leader is

Charlie Gordon s Success In Flowers For Algernon By Daniel...
The true method of knowledge is experiment. William Blake. Charlie Gordon was an adequate choice
for the scientists, Dr. Strous and Dr. Nemur, to choose since Charlie s gains from the surgery overrides
his loses. The surgery was to try and triple Charlie Gordan s IQ from 68 to 204, which was a success.
Charlie indeed gained several things from his surgery including: understanding of true friendship,
emotional maturity, and he finally got his dream come true. In Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes,
the doctors made a great choice for picking Charlie Gordan as their test subject.
One way that Dr. Strous and Dr. Demur did an amazing job in their decision for their test subject, was

I read the grammar book last night and it explanes the whole thing. (Keyes page 192). People tend to

intelligence is that he died. While dying is not a good thing alone it does not strain from the fact that
he died finally achieving something that he spent his whole life trying to reach. So, instead of dying

Pros And Cons Of Gimo
GITMO is still open because it is a US military base in the Caribbean that provides a strategic
foothold into Latin America and probably irritates the Castro regime to no end. If you are asking why
GITMO is still being used as a facility for the detention of personnel that have been identified as
terrorists or insurgents; that would be because we don t want to house them in the contiguous United
States and there are limited other options for where to move the remaining detainees without another
country being willing to take custody or a military tribunal to determine the guilt or innocence of the
individual in detention.
The promise made by President Obama was a cute promise made by a man who wanted to be elected
as our President, but had yet to realize the undertaking that it would be to actually take to close
GITMO as a detention facility. I agree, that GITMO should be closed as a detention facility because
this should not be the responsibility of the US people to continue playing world police. I would make
the argument for detaining the enemy combatants in the country they were arrested in, but prison

Papaw Narrative
The year of 2014 was probably one of the craziest times of my life. I never thought things would go
this way. I thought I was going to be living life with my papaw by my side for a long time. I never
thought he would just go away so randomly. There were no warning signs, nothing. To this day I still
think about everything that happened. I can t believe he was taken so soon. I realize that God was
calling his name, and that it was his time to go. We had so many good memories together, and I
wouldn t trade that for the world. He was the best papaw I have ever had, and it sucks that he is gone.
I grew up with my papaw always being at the house. He would just show up to hang out. We d talk
and joke around. He never failed to make me laugh. I ll never forget half the jokes he always said to
me. Some of them weren t very appropriate, but that s just who my papaw was. I remember when the
phone would ring, and I would be the only one around to answer it. I would answer the phone and
some silly voice would come across the phone. It was always my papaw talking some crazy stuff. He
once told me that it was Smokey the Bear, and that he was there to control the forest fires. Some other
times he would ask for a pizza. There was never a time that you would answer the phone and not let
out a giggle. When I was getting ready to leave for Washington D.C, my eighth grade year, he came to
my house to see me before I left. He came to give me some money to shop with and just to joke

The, An Idea Thought Of By Steven Harris
Background: DoorGuard, an idea thought of by Steven Harris, which protects the side of your car
from accidental dents that occur in parking lots all across the world. Harris s idea of a product that
helps prevent dents in the side of car doors is a very simple idea that many individuals would never
have thought to create, and the DoorGuard product would seem to have many buyers who are looking
to help protect their new/used cars. The thought of having a giant piece of removable foam on each
side of an individual s car has its benefits, and its disadvantages. The strong points of DoorGuard
would obviously be the face that it protects the side of an induvial car from unwanted accidental dents
that occur when another individual either parks to close to one, or someone who is reckless. On top of
preventing dents, DoorGuard is easy to place on the side of car doors, and is easy to dismantle and
store away. The protection DoorGuard would bring to one s car comes with some weaknesses. One
weakness that seems to stick out is the fact that DoorGuard is a giant foam pad that rests on the side of
one s car doors. Many consumers would not like the look of DoorGuard with its big appearance which
is good for advertising, but some people would like a product that is minimal and blends in with their
cars color. If theft is attempted on the DoorGuard, the cable that goes into the door to keep it from
easily getting stolen would tear the panel, thus, ruining the product for the person

Hand Gesture Recognition Essay
1. INTRODUCTION
In this Project design and implementation of an algorithm for hand gesture recognition will be done
and we will explore its application in Banking Security. This system will have the wired mode of
control and the webcam of the laptop will be used for image acquisition. This Project describes
Security system using Hand gestures using a novel algorithm that can be used for Banking Security. At
the time of robbery in bank, by making a cross hand gesture by any employer or customer, the doors
of the bank will get closed and the nearby police station will be informed about the robbery. It is very
important for every bank to provide security to their customers and employees, so the main purpose of
the project is to provide security to the customers and employees of the bank. At the time of robbery in
bank, the money of the bank and the life of the customers and the employees are at risk, this project
will use hand gesture recognition technique to recognize the special hand gesture of the employees so
that nearby police can be informed about the robbery just by recognizing that special hand gesture. In
this project we will use laptop web camera to acquire image of the gesture.
We will use the skin color detection technique as it can detect different skin colors under cluttered

Cyrano De Bergerac Stereotypes
It has been said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the protagonist in the play by Edmond

Peter Pan Thesis
When you re young all you want to do is grow up and be able to do things on your own, until you
realize that you re getting older. While reading Peter Pan, we read about a little boy who refuses to
grow up. He does not want to become older, and the lost boys who live on the island with him are not
allowed to grow older either. Peter has never been able to make the transition from becoming a child,
into adulthood and because of that he has stayed young. Peter Pan is able to inspire all the lost boys to
do the same thing, resulting in them not growing up and having adventures with Peter Pan all day
long. The first line in the book is All children, except one, grow up (69). Peter Pan was the only one
who refuses to grow up through the book, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Breitling Watch Changed My Life
The Breitling watch has a steel strap with a blue face bordered by two buttons and a dial. The dial
winds the watch s gears and changes both the date and time. The buttons start and reset a built in
timer. Scratches can be found around the bottom of the strap and around the watch s face, but
otherwise it is kept clean and polished. This watch was a graduation gift from my father. He gave it to
me over dinner the night of graduating from high school and said that it was because he wanted to
give me something to show his appreciation for the effort I put into studying for 4 years. It was also
meant as congratulations for getting accepted to Chapel Hill. The watch was useful in managing my

As I put it on for the first time he asked me if I knew why he got a watch as a gift. He proceeded with
a question, What is the most precious thing in life? The most precious thing in life is the one thing that
you will always use and never get back, time. At that point the watch slowly changed my way of
thinking about others reminding me that this life is mine. There are stories of people that would
sacrifice themselves for the joy of others, but in the end that would make those that care for those
people sad. I would rather be the one who lived making every second count not only by helping others
but also helping myself in order to bring about a tomorrow where everyone can smile. Some may see
this attitude as selfish, but I think it is more optimistic for a future that can benefit everyone including
myself. This memory also served as an impetus for work habits. Engagement is an important factor in
any life project whether that be forming a thesis for a college course, planning a large family meal, or
preparing a presentation for coworkers. Planning ahead helped designate periods of time where I could
engage in large projects efficiently as opposed to forcing myself to complete something in the length
of three to four hours. I suppose this idea is the embodiment of another phrase that says, Work smarter,
not harder . Additionally, I developed a sense of

The Impact Of The Edo Period In Japan
The Edo period in Japan lasted from 1603 to 1867, and it is associated with peace and prosperity, as
well as increasing urbanization and the rise of a new merchant class (Yonemoto n.p.). During the 15th
and 16th centuries, Japan was consumed by chaos and lawlessness due to the constant military
conflicts and political intrigue of the Sengoku (Warring States) period (Ebisawa n.p.). Oda Nobunaga
who was a prominent military and political leader of the Sengoku period was the first to undertake
efforts towards uniting Japan and created a foundation for establishing a prolonged period of peace.
He succeeded in subduing all the lands of central Japan and carrying out a series of revolutionary
reforms, such as liquidation of internal customs, opening of free trade markets, and compilation of
land cadaster (Ebiwasa n.p.). The main goal of Nobunaga s reforms was the development of foreign

Incredibly high taxes and repression against Christians combined with crop failures and famine led to
the Shimabar Rebellion. The rebellion broke out on December 17, 1637 and quickly spread from

Pioneer HDJ-1000 Review
Pioneer HDJ 1000 Review
HDJ 1000 stand next to the heavyweights of DJ cans. But these are meant solely for DJs working in a
noisy club. If you are an audiophile, this may not be the best pick for you.
Sound Quality 7.5/10
HDJ 1000 has a specifically colored output. The mid bass are given a big enhancement at the cost of
other parts of the spectrum. The lower parts of the bass can sometimes be totally lost. Vocals often
become shrill and treble becomes very prominent.
That said, the cans do deliver what they promise. By enhancing mid bass they allow you to mix your
tracks while another track is playing loudly over the club sound system. It is the kick that matters the
most for you at that point in time.
Design 8/10
It was probably the first set of DJ cans that got the look right. As a DJ, the sound may be the most
important aspect of your work, but you also want to take pride in the equipment you own. The
prominent color schemes that HDJ 1000 introduced addressed this very well.
The fold down feature was, and still is, a great hit with the DJs. But even bigger hit is the switch that
allows you to switch to a mono output. You can have the headphone over one ear and listen to the
environment sounds with the other and be sure that you are listening to the whole sound, not just one
half of it.
HDJ 1000 lets you listen in with a single ear by letting you folding one earcup up. It also lets you twist
the headband so the earcup fits behind your ear. The switch works like a

Throughout the extract and elsewhere in the play, Tennessee Williams presents Blanche as someone
who has suffered, and will be purified as a result. The extract is from Scene 11, the last scene of A

The Integral Part Of My Writing Process
Writing is the tool I use to process my emotions and convey my feelings to others. Creative and
freestyle forms of writing are what I enjoy. Writing has been a part of my journey for many years. I
write a lot. I write often. Since I share some of my writings publicly on social media, I am regularly
complimented on my writing. Some people go as far as to ask me to write a blog or even a book.
Writing allows me to face fears, conquer trials, and learn more about myself and others.
My fears and apprehensions concerning writing are limited to expository writing and researching the
writings of others. In a journal piece, it is stated that Each writer s work was touched and shaped by
the work of others (Joy, 2013). As touched as I may be by someone else s writings, I do not want to
plagiarize while I am summarizing their work. On a collegiate level, I often worry I may be
researching incorrectly. Making sure that the context is correct and that I am giving a scholarly author
their credit can sometimes be overwhelming to me. Processing the information as the author intended
it to mean is important. When examining the writings of others, summarizing and retaining the
information intended for me is the end goal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on Imperialism in America
Imperialism in America
At the turn of the century, America and the views of its people were changing. Many different ideas
were surfacing about issues that affected the country as a whole. The Republican Party, led by William
McKinley, were concentrating on the expansion of the United States and looking to excel in power
and commerce. The Democratic Party at this time was led by William Jennings Bryan, who was
absorbed in a sponge of morality and was concerned with the rights of man. The nation s self interest
was divided into different ideas between the two parties. At this time imperialism and anti imperialism
were the dominant topics regarding America s destiny.
One argument backing U.S. imperialism is by naval ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In turn it was just easier and more accessible to the Chinese market if the U.S. had stake in the
Philippines.
All of these articles demonstrate a very high self interest and also somewhat aggressive outlook on
U.S. imperialism. All three seem to agree that expansion equaled commerce, which in turn equaled
power. The articles chiefly suggest that other nations would be privileged to have the U.S. control
them. They all take basically the same ethnocentric view that the U.S. is best.
On the reverse was the anti imperialistic argument. This argument was supported by Democratic
presidential nominee, William Jennings Bryan and the National Liberty Congress of Anti Imperialists.
Bryan was a very moral person and was concerned with the freedom of all men. He believed that
expansion was wrong because the U.S. was trying to constitutionalize lands and people out of its
jurisdiction. He felt that people s rights were being sacrificed for cash flow. In reference to dealing
with the Filipino problem, he proposed that the U.S. merely aid rather than control. The U.S. was able
to help Cuba stabilize a government while protecting them with the Monroe Doctrine. Bryan felt that
the same solution could have been asserted to the Philippines problem. The difference in the self
interest of Anti imperialists is that they are viewing it from the Filipinos point of view.
The annexation of the Philippines was justified by President William McKinley in 1898,

African American Icon Tyler Perry Characteristics
African American Icon Tyler Perry
I remember the first time I watched a Tyler Perry played at my house when I was younger it was the
funniest play I had ever saw. Madea`s Class Reunion was first piece I laughed so hard that tears were
coming out of my eye. I have watched every single play Tyler Perry created from that day forward.
Perry`s life had been a great motivation of mine since I heard of his dedication and work ethic
throughout his entire life. Hearing his life story knowing what he has gone through is astonishing to
me and I bow my head down to him for all his accomplishments through his hardships. Being a young
inspired young actor his work on and off the camera is remarkable. He has open the doors up for many
of us young African Americans into careers in media and arts.
His filming style as a director would best be described as black feminism but also approval. His films
project the idea of a single unified gender oppression that is experienced evenly by all women but
rather is dictated by the color of your skin. In his films he focusses on the vocal point of African
American women entitlement in the world today. Also the empowerment aspect is very bold in his
movies because usually by the end of these films his main character is improves throughout her
hardship and journey. His films have focused mainly on African American problems or success.
Overall Tyler Perry s signature style is that of a realist. Real people with real issues that find their

Belonging To A New Place
The meaning of belongings is feeling comfortable and happy in a particular group of people,
surroundings, situation or society. Belonging can be related to culture, language, background, hobbies,
religion, occasions, national dress or some particular activity. It is a well known fact that belonging to
a group can make an individual feel not only accepted, but more powerful that if they were on their
own. Let us discuss the belongings in two different situations. In first situation we will discuss
influence of belongings on us at a place familiar to us and then we will compare it by supposing a visit
of some strange place with different culture. When we live in our own country, we remained
supportive by our own culture, people with same language, religion, back ground, familiar food,
sports, dresses, hobbies and even almost same occasions to calibrate. We live with our friends,
neighbors, relatives and share happy and sad moments with them. We help each other and feel

In a post in the Huffington Post states, Much of the inordinate primacy of sport is based on a
pervasive, anecdotal, understanding (at least amongst those in power) that sport is always and
necessarily a powerful teacher of valuable, positive tangential lessons ( respect, teamwork, motivation,
etc.) (Quora). Athletes act as teachers to the youth, and teach lessons that can not be easily taught in
the household. Getting experience is exactly what these events provide, and is exactly what minorities
need in today s society. Teaching the children at a young age how to be leaders and work as a team,
will guarantee a bright future for the nation as well as create many great adults for the future. New
York Times states, For the past 75 years, parents have enrolled their children in local Little League
programs. Of the millions of children who wear the Little League uniform patch, very few actually
enter into Little League competition, one of our nine World Series tournaments. But the lessons young
players gain between the foul lines have guided some to become astronauts, emergency first

Book Report On Eric Ross
Today I was finally granted a day off from work. The first place I knew I would head, after sleeping

chocolate muffin with a caramel latte and then sat down on my most loved couch with my sketchbook

A tear trickled down my cheek as I read the article on some of his history. It wasn t a tear of complete
sadness. This tear was a mixture of anger, sorrow and desperation.
Little did I know, he had been married for three years to the woman who gave birth to his child 12
years prior.
After more digging, I came across an article about his wife. A year after they got married, they found
her dead in the bathroom of his million dollar mansion. She had committed suicide by slitting her
veins open on her wrists. She had left a note expressing her feelings about him straying the path from
their marriage.
So he isn t cheating now, but he has before. Why is it such a big deal now that he can t introduce me to
his family? Maybe even just his daughter?
It was time for Eric and I to have a chat about what was going on between us. So I decided that the
next day I would pay him a visit.

I made sure I had on my most form fitting outfit that would accentuate my curves. He ll be putty in my

asking him about past relationships would be the best way? Or what he thought about kids someday?

The Effects of Gender Roles on Chinese Natal Policies
The Effects of Gender Roles on Chinese Natal Policies
China is quickly becoming a very prosperous nation. There is one aspect, however, that threatens to
derail its rise to prosperity, the exponentially high birth rates. To combat China s growing population,
government officials enforced an anti natalist policy known as the One Child Policy. Ultimately, the
policy amounted to an assault on China s system of gender norms and roles ( Family Planning ). With
the implementation of China s One Child Policy, sex preference among babies has become evident.
Socially, it has been the duty of a woman to obey her father as a child; her husband as a married
person; and her son as a widow ( Confucianism: Woman s Way ). In regards to the ... Show more

This notion exists because China is built on tradition. In Chinese tradition, women are solely
homemakers and have no purpose outside the home. Thus, men felt that if tradition was disrupted,
chaos would be unleashed throughout China. Although these laws were created to prevent
discrimination, they were not enforced. As a result, discrimination continued. Experts say that only
few women dare to sue employers for unfair hiring practices, dismissal on grounds of pregnancy or
maternity leave, or sexual harassment ( Equality Still a Dream ). Ultimately, women are able to work
outside the home in modern day China; however, they are still hesitant to defend themselves out of
fear of losing their jobs. Preference between males and females still exists in the workforce due to the
fact that males are not subject to paternity leaves or sexual harassment. Commonly, women are
restricted to behind the desk jobs such as secretaries, financial analysts, and librarians as that require
very little labor. Indubitably, women also earn less than men as they must retire five years earlier than
men who are in the same jobs ( Equality Still a Dream ). Thus, a male is preferred as his role in the
workforce is considered to be more substantial than that of a woman, which further emphasizes a son
preference in China.
Not only are a woman s social status and contribution to the workforce causes of the One Child Policy,

Lean Manufacturing Is An Approach
Introduction Lean Manufacturing is an approach taken by manufacturing organization to increase
efficiency through optimization and maximize customer value while minimizing waste. Traditionally,
Lean principles were applied to manufacturing industries especially automotive companies. However,
with the success in automotive industry, it no longer limited to automotive sector and can be applied in
other manufacturing sectors as well as services industries (Balle, et al., 2006). The drivers for
implementing Lean in both manufacturing and service sectors are customer demands for better quality
products and services, managerial demands for cost reduction and sustaining in an increasing market
competitiveness. Lean implementation and various success stories has led companies worldwide to
introduce lean in their operations and services but majority of these companies achieved only modest
levels of success (Womack Jones, 2003). It is reported that many organizations are not able to
transform themselves to lean organization and thus at some point of time, lean implementation is
destined to fail (Farris, et al., 2009). Some of the main factors for lean failures are poor
communication, lack of strong leadership, lack of learning, staff resistance to change, and lack of clear
direction (Emiliani Stec, 2005). Researchers have argued that transition to lean environment and
sustaining lean improvements requires cultural change in the organization rather than changing the

Capital Punishment Must be Abolished Essay
Capital Punishment Must be Abolished
Is capital punishment just? The death penalty is a controversial issue for most people.
Supporter s claim that it eliminates repeat offenders, deters potential murderers and is the ultimate
retribution. Opponents denounce it as murder, say that it does not cause deterrence but rather promotes
violence and claim that it introduces the chance of an innocent person being executed. Due to the
arguments presented by both sides and because of my own personal beliefs, the argument against legal
execution is most compelling. The idea of putting another human to death is hard to completely

The next method of execution developed after the electric chair was the gas chamber. The gas
chamber was first used in 1921. This chamber of death is an airtight room with a chair into which the
accused is strapped. Death is caused by exposure to cyanide gas, produced when sodium cyanide is
dropped into sulfuric acid. The suffering caused is deliberate and plain to see: writhing, vomiting,
shaking and gasping for breath for many seconds. This horrendous technique is used only in a few
states.
Another form of the death penalty is lethal injection. This form was introduced in the U.S. in 1977 and
is now in use in twenty three states. This is the most widespread method and arguably the most
humane. The condemned is strapped to a table and injected with sodium triopentone, losing
consciousness in ten to fifteen seconds. This is followed by pancuronium bromide, which blocks
respiration and finally potassium chloride to stop the heart (Jackson, 38 43).
Finally, the last two forms of execution are death by firing squad and death by hanging.
These two forms of capital punishment are very rarely ever used. In 1999 there were only two
hangings and one death by firing squad. The convicted sometimes have the opportunity to decide how
they wish to be executed, which was the case in these three executions.
Religious people, especially those faithful to the Catholic religion believe that the death penalty is
morally wrong. The Catholic Church believes that

Fermentation Lab
DISCUSSION
In reference to Figure 1, the results indicated that the liquid medium created through the juice of
strawberries resulted in the highest rates of fermentation. However, while initially at the 5, 10, and 15
minute marks, the rate of fermentation of strawberries was the lowest out of all of the liquid mediums;
from the 15 minute mark to the 20 minute mark, the height of the bubbles rapidly increased. The
second highest rate of fermentation was from the water, which was used as a constant in the
experiment. After the water, it was the grape juice that had the next greatest rate of fermentation,
subsequently proceeded by oranges, and then lemons which had the lowest rates of fermentation. Each
of the rates of fermentation was determined by looking at the height of the bubbles, in the last 5
minute interval, the 20 minute mark of the lab. When comparing the results to the hypothesis, it is
seen that certain parts of the results do not support the hypothesis. It was hypothesized that the liquid
mediums created by fruits such as grapes, would result in a higher rate of fermentation. It was then
expected to be followed by oranges, strawberries, and lemons respectively. However, the results show
that when strawberry juice was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the rate of fermentation of yeast in the strawberry trials may have increased due to a higher
concentration of elements such as zinc and magnesium, conducting future experiments that are more
specific to nutrients such as zinc and magnesium may assist in gaining an insight into their role in
yeast growth and fermentation. Rather than keeping the experiment too broad with various factors to
consider within the fruit juices, focusing on isolating for specifically added supplements may also help
in further understanding the nutritional requirements of

A Conspiracy in Politics
Politics is much more than agendas these days. It is a game involving intricate strategies and
manoeuvres to outsmart the others. Big games are played in today s political arena and these big
games are limited to the big player only. No matter how loyally or how long a person serves, the game
plan is limited only to the highest tier of the parties or maybe even less. The best and the trickiest of
games are played with a lot of confidentiality to ensure its success.
Politics, mind you, is not a child s play. Politicians are extremely smart people. By using the word
smart, I don t put them into the category of Einstiens or Newtons. What I am trying to convey is that
they are very observant and capable of noticing the smallest of opportunities. They plan with vision
and over time it pays off.
In the light of the present situation, I may sound a complete fool for what I have just said. Had
politicians been so smart and so thoughtful in their strategies then why can t the Indian National
Congress see the very evident inefficiency of Mr. Rahul Gandhi? He has become a subject of
numerous jokes on the social media and his incompetency has come to the fore over the years. It is
very clear that Rahul has failed miserably to connect to the people. On the other hand, there is Modi, a
magnetic personality with great oration skills. More importantly he has Gujarat to show for his
achievements. Is the Congress so naive to neglect it and go about doing nothing at all?
It must have

Why Gender Inequality Stalled By Stephanie Coontz
Stephanie Coontz, author of Why Gender Inequality Stalled, emphasizes on how women are still
challenged in today s society about inequality of women wanting to have a career and raising a family
instead of staying at home to care for her family. Women making the choice to have a baby and have a
career is often frowned upon. According to Coontz, when they become mothers, they face more
scrutiny and prejudice on the job than fathers do (7). In a two family household, mothers often have to
take off work to care for their children in case of emergencies than fathers do. In single household
families, mothers are full time parents and have a full time job. This makes it harder for the women to
get equality in the workplace. Do you think that

Mcdonaldization Of Society By George Ritzer
In The McDonaldization of Society written by George Ritzer, Ritzer explains how what Americans do
without thinking has ultimately led to an assembly line like culture. The saying work better not harder
plays right into his article by showing that us Americans want things done efficient.
The McDonaldization of Society George Ritzer explains what rationalization does to a community. In
this essay the word rationalization can be condensed to making a society more efficient. Using the fast
food chain McDonald s to symbolize the American culture, Ritzer efficiently conveys his idea. Ritzer

rationalization . Showing the reader that while he might not completely agree with everything he

The Cause Of The Ice Age
Title The Theory of the Cause of the Ice Age
Introduction
Background There are many possible reasons for why ice ages form. We aren t sure which are correct.
When there is a period of colder global temperatures and recurring glacial expansion, it s called an ice
age. Ice ages are capable of lasting hundreds of millions of years. There have been five major that
scientists have recorded: the Huronian, Cryogenian, Andean Saharan, Karoo, and Quaternary.
Thesis Scientists have numerous predictions as to why ice ages happen, some of which are the
distance of the Earth from the sun, the position and height of the continents, and the fluctuations in
ocean currents.
First Subtopic Continental Positions
Topic Sentence Scientists believe that ice ages can be caused by the continents positions that blocks
the flow of warm water that comes from the equator.
The geological record appears to show that ice ages start when the continents are in positions which
block or reduce the flow of warm water from the equator to the poles and thus allow ice sheets to
form. (Raymo, Ruddiman, Froelich, 1988)
Important aspects which contributed to ancient climate regimes are the ocean currents, which are
modified by continent position as well as other factors. (Raymo, Ruddiman, Froelich, 1988)
The continents positions play a big role. Continents move over time because of the tectonic plates.
Pangaea split over time into the individual continents we have today. While Pangaea was splitting,

Analysis of The Brady Bill Essay
Analysis of The Brady Bill
Introduction The legislative process in the United States Congress shows us an interesting drama in
which a bill becomes a law through compromises made by diverse and sometimes conflicting interests
in this country. There have been many controversial bills passed by Congress, but among all, I have
taken a particular interest in the passage of the Brady bill. When the Brady debate was in full swing in
Congress about three years ago, I was still back in my country,
Japan, where the possession of guns is strictly restricted by laws. While watching television news
reports on the Brady debate, I wondered what was making it so hard for this gun control bill to pass in
this gun violence ridden
country. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The exception was the Southern Democrats most of whom joined the Republicans to vote for the
amendment. This party division was not so surprising, however, considering the huge campaign
contributions made by the chief gun lobby, the
National Rifle Association (NRA), directed mostly to the Republicans, and the exception of the
Southern Democrats could be explained by the gun right supportive nature of their constituents. In the
1992 election for example, this organization made $1.7 million contribution to its sympathetic
congressional candidates and spent another $870,000 in independent expenditures for congressional
races.1 The influence the NRA exercised on the legislation was enormous since the final bill passed in
1993 was a compromise version reflecting some of the NRA sought provisions. I could say that it was
because of this persistent lobby that the Brady bill took as long as 7 years to become a law. On the
other side, the advocates of the bill enjoyed a wide support from the public as well as from the
Handgun Control Inc., the chief gun control lobby led by Sarah Brady, the wife of James Brady. The
consistent public support for the bill from the introduction through the passage of the bill was
manifested by many polls. One of the polls conducted by NBC News and Wall Street

What Is Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning
Text 6. STP (What is segmentation, targeting and positioning)?

Can STP process be separated or is it a three step inseparable process? 3. Can positioning be
undertaken before targeting? 4. Do you know marketers well known or even famous for their ideas
about STP?
Smith (1957) provided an early definition of segmentation:
Segmentation is based on the observation of evolution in demand and represents a more precise and
rational adaptation of the product and the marketing effort to meet customer or user demands .

  • 2. Top 10 Drugs and Their Effects Top 10 Drugs and Their Effects Drug abuse is a very common problem in most countries so it seemed like a good topic for a list. This is a list of ten of the most abused drugs and the effects they have on people. 1. Heroin Heroin is an opiate processed directly from the extracts of the opium poppy. It was originally created to help cure people of addiction to morphine. Upon crossing the blood brain barrier, which occurs soon after introduction of the drug into the bloodstream, heroin is converted into morphine, which mimics the action of endorphins, creating a sense of well being; the characteristic euphoria has been described as an orgasm centered in the gut. One of the most common methods of heroin use is via intravenous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is considered mainly a recreational drug that s often used with sex and associated with club drugs, as an entheogen, and a tool in use to supplement various types of practices for transcendence including in meditation, psychonautics, and illicit psychedelic psychotherapy whether self administered or not. The primary effects of MDMA include an increased awareness of the senses, feelings of openness, euphoria, empathy, love, happiness, heightened self awareness, feeling of mental clarity and an increased appreciation of music and movement. Tactile sensations are enhanced for some users, making physical contact with others more pleasurable. Other side effects, such as jaw clenching and elevated pulse, are common. 7. Opium Opium is a resinous narcotic formed from the latex released by lacerating (or scoring ) the immature seed pods of opium poppies (Papaver somniferum). It contains up to 16% morphine, an opiate alkaloid, which is most frequently processed chemically to produce heroin for the illegal drug trade. Opium has gradually been superseded by a variety of purified, semi synthetic, and synthetic opioids with progressively stronger effect, and by other general anesthesia. This process began in 1817, when Friedrich Wilhelm Adam Sertürner reported the isolation of pure morphine from opium after at least thirteen years of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comparison Of Stonehenge And Paganism Stonehenge and Paganism A lot of scientific interpretations of Stonehenge that are proposed by archaeologists are often at war , so to speak, with other archaeological interpretations by faith communities. One of these particular arguments is that Paganism is not considered to be a real religion, like that of Christianity or the Islamic faith. Paganism is not widely practiced in the United States like it is over in the UK and other European countries. Stonehenge has been connected in one way or another to the religion of Paganism. Building of Stonehenge Stonehenge was built in the Neolithic early Bronze Age era. The human race did not settle in the area of Wiltshire until around 4,000 BCE 3,000 BCE (Cusack 2012). According to Fagan, local farmers built a simple enclosure (Cusack 2012). There are five stones, which consist of the Heel Stone that is located outside of the north eastern entrance. The Slaughter Stone, which lies flat on the east side of the entranceway, is considered to be part of a pair that could have created an entrance. The final two Station Stones are located in the bank (Cusack 2012). Over the few hundred years, more timber monuments were built, possibly to assist in the purpose of Stonehenge. Many archaeologists have disputed over the phases of not only the construction of Stonehenge but also the chronology of Stonehenge as well as the possibilities of what it was used for (Cusack 2012). Some people have thought of Stonehenge as being some kind of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Did Alexander The Great Affect The Age Of The... Imagine a world without splendorous leisure activities. The people of the Hellenistic Age most certainly couldn t! The creation of their extravagant culture that focused on the enjoyment of life and the understanding of human emotion is owed to Alexander the Great s conquest of Persia and his decision to mix his native Greek culture with the cultures of the new lands he now owned in his vast empire. This extremely intriguing age, which lasted for about 300 years, was responsible for many of the ideas that are still upheld in today s culture, and the people of this time established many important artistic and philosophical ideals that have lasted for thousands of years. The Hellenistic Age began after the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BCE (atg timeline). His conquest of Persia after the Battle of Gaugamela in 331 BCE technically spurred Hellenism, or the spreading of Greek culture (adtp). Alexander the Great s empire of over seventy cities spread all the way from the west of the Mediterranean to the east of Persia, and became a hotbed for the mixing of cultures (thought co). People within this territory assimilated the Greek language, which then allowed for the spread of other parts of Greek culture, like arts, philosophy, and literature (world of atg). After conquering Persia, Alexander the Great began to introduce aspects of Greek culture through his new empire in many different ways. He encouraged his soldiers to marry with Persian women in order to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Tenure Argumentative Essay Proponents also advocate that teacher tenure will generate and guarantee innovation in teaching. Teachers starting out are constantly being watched and evaluated on their performance and effectiveness in the classroom. Most teachers stick to the book and their guidelines they have to follow for the curriculum. There is not much innovation or new strategies that will help students learn more effectively. Mr. Griffin from Garden Grove High School said that Tenure is like a pat on the back for a job well done and allows you to have a little bit more freedom as a teacher (Ancheta 6). By having tenure, it allows teachers to come out of their box and bring new effective strategies to the classroom that will the students learn the material in a much better way. Many teachers feel pressured overall and are afraid to bring or try something new in the classroom. Tenure is a reward for hard work in the classroom and gives teachers a sense of confidence in what they are doing, knowing that they are doing their job right. • 6. Dan Glickman at ShoWest Essay Dan Glickman at ShoWest LAS VEGAS Citing long term trends to offset short term dips, Dan Glickman, who became president and CEO of the MPAA in September, presented his first state of the industry address Tuesday at ShoWest 2005. Speaking to a crowded house of exhibitors and distributors at the Paris hotel in what he dubbed his maiden voyage to the annual convention, Glickman judged that the industry is healthy. We have had some growth this year not radical growth, but the trends are positive. According to the MPAA s bookkeepers, U.S. boxoffice for 2004 amounted to $9.54 billion, up slightly from $9.49 billion the year before. Glickman noted that 2004 was the third consecutive ... As a result, the costs of producing and releasing the average MPAA release rang in at $98 million, down almost 5% from 2003 s record of $102.8 million. While only one out of 10 films recoups its costs during its theatrical release, four out of 10 make money during their full life cycle. Glickman cited long term trends, though, to buttress his contention that the industry remains on solid ground. Over the past five years, he noted, boxoffice has climbed more than $1 billion. And though individual admissions have been down the past two years, they have risen 20% an average of 2% a year over the past 10 years. Foreign boxoffice has grown even more dramatically, he added. Last year, it totaled $15.7 billion, up more than 44% from 2003. As for moviegoers, they enjoy a relative bargain according to National Association of Theatre Owners president John Fithian, who joined Glickman at the early morning press conference. Last year, the average ticket price hit $6.21, up 3% over the 2003 figure of $6.03. Still, Fithian noted, that 3% increase was less than the 3.3% increase in the Consumer Price Index for the year. Informal Organization And Recognizing Signs Of Trouble Informal Organization Recognizing Signs of Trouble Goldsmith and Katzenbach (2007) review ways that individuals can improve their job performance through the utilization of informal connections and exchanges. Bartolomé (1993) endorses management recognition of potential subordinate problems that could lead to larger crises. This journal entry will discuss the ways in which organizational learning and effectiveness can be impacted by informal organization and early discernment of problems by managers. This is why it is crucial for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way that managers can positively influence their organization is by building trust. Trust building between managers and subordinates is the crucial first step to preventing organizational crises. Effective managers understand that trust building requires facilitation of communication, while being supportive, respectful, fair, consistent, and capable. Communication refers to open information sharing with groups and individuals. It should address organizational concerns, operations, policies, strategies, decisions, financial allocations, and challenges being faced. A supportive manager cares about the well being of their employees. They are easily accessible, helpful, reassuring, and protective. Respect is earned when managers value and implement employee ideas and give them important tasks to accomplish. Fairness involves objectively recognizing the appropriate employees for task completion and accomplishments. Being consistent shows employees that managers are reliable, while professionalism and behaving sensibly display capability (Bartolomé, 1993, p. 7 11). Aside from communication about potential problems from subordinates, managers receive information by way of formal organizational structures. Furthermore, many managers possess an ability to foresee potential problems that may negatively affect the organization ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Symbols Of The Bear Chose to write about this story because it is full of many ideas and symbols that are reflected in reality. The author may have written this story for other reasons, but at least I understand it in a different way and will work on a conceptual analysis of it. I drew attention to this sentence mentioned by the writer in the first section The encounter was unpremeditated on both sides. I was not hunting for a bear, and I have no reason to suppose that a bear was looking for me. Because on the assumption that the bear is a symbol of the problem and the narrator a symbol of man, the important question is: Does man seek the cause of the problem as a result of his thinking or his actions, or is it the problems that seek behind man, since it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact is that escape from the problem is not a kind of lack of courage, but it may be a tactical withdrawal so that man can gather his strength and focuses his thinking on how to salvation. What would be my wife s mortification when the news was brought that her husband had been eaten by a bear! I think here is a kind of humor and fun by the author, which I find unacceptable and illogical here in such dangerous moments. Instead of thinking about survival, he is looking for what would be told after his death or the scandal that his family will suffer because he was killed by a bear! Perhaps the author wanted to slightly ease the reader from the tension caused by the story. The writer finally beat the bear and managed to kill him. This teaches us persistence and patience until we achieve victory and we can overcome the enemy. The writer then returns to his home as a victor after overcoming his problem and killing the bear. This reflects our sense of happiness and pride among family members, and that one is proud of himself when overcoming his problems. Indeed, this may be one of the reasons for happiness in life, but it is certain that happiness has many other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Michael Jackson first started his career in 1964. He was the lead singer in a group with his four brothers. The group was called the Jackson 5. The Jackson 5 started out performing locally in their home town Gary, Indiana. They then went on to win a talent show, where the winner would open for Bobby Taylor a couple nights later. • 10. Analysis Of The Poem Songwriting For Under Achievers Songwriting for Under Achievers I chose to research information on how to write music because I have always wanted to write my own music. I chose this topic because I knew I would learn a lot from it and that it would help me in my future. I wanted to learn how to write great lyrics for my songs and make melodies so that I may perform them to an audience. I had to research the different ways of writing lyrics, how to come up with a title for your song, how to make a melody, and how to apply chords to that melody. I have learned an easy way to make songs of your own so that they seem professional but anybody could do it. This is the basics of Songcraft. In songcraft, the first thing that you must think of should be the lyrics to your song. You may not have to use lyrics in your song which does not change anything but most modern music these days have lyrics to express the mood of the song more. If you want lyrics in your song or songs then the first step is to brainstorm. Choose a topic that you want your song to cover and let your imagination run wild. Never hesitate in writing down the first words that come to mind if you do then that is your first mistake. Lyrics aren t what somebody has just chosen from a book or poem they are applied in the way that the artist imagines them not how she/he wants them to sound. When I say this I do not mean that they never fix their lyrics but that they know there meaning in the song from the lyrics even if the lyrics do not make sense ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Metric System Research Paper How many 16ths of an inch are in a mile? How many fluid ounces in a cubic inch? What is the conversion factor between degrees celsius and degrees Fahrenheit? These are some of the terrible questions that plague only the minds of people in three countries in the world: the United States of America, Myanmar, and Liberia. All 193 of the other countries in the world use the metric system. The United States of America should convert to the metric system because of the following reasons: it is the global and scientific standard, it is much easier to use, not using it causes US consumers and businesses to lose money, and our lack of familiarity with it is part of the reason why our students lag so far behind much of the rest of the world in STEM ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example of this occurred in 1999 when the NASA spacecraft Orbiter burned up in the Martian atmosphere due to a conversion error. This was caused because one of the Lockheed Martin engineers tried to use the US customary (imperial) system while all the other engineers used the metric system (SI) This eventually caused the $125,000,000 orbiter to miss its proper orbit and burn up in the atmosphere of mars (NASA). Although losses due to conversion errors on this magnitude are rather uncommon, there are still other ways in which not using the metric system that can cause US consumers and business to lose money, When selling a product, the seller needs to have sufficient demand for their product in order to justify the cost of production. One way to increase the profit is to start mass producing the product. This is because mass producing can significantly reduce the cost per item to produce a product. However when there is insufficient demand for a product to mass produce the profit margin will substantially decrease, and the price of the item for consumers will need to be increased to maintain the cost of operations for the company making the product. This means that because the US uses a different measurement system than the rest of the world and has different sizes of products, that any business that makes things for our country has fewer potential buyers and a higher cost to make each item. This means that if that business converted to the metric system that they could potentially increase their sales by a factor of 31. Along with increasing business profits, changing to the metric system would lead to cheaper prices for all consumers because businesses would not need to have both metric and special US customary equipment thus, lowering the operating costs of the ... Katelynn also informed me on some information that I found to be surprising and she was very informative. I learned that to make others feel confident that it will be easier if you get to know that person and pay attention to certain details about them. I learned from Katelynn that when she worked in Oaks that the residents seemed to be needier compared to her current residents in Pines. Also, the residents in oaks seemed to be closer and there would be more of a relationship with them. My preconceptions were all answered and I found all the answers very informative. During the interview, I found majority of the information very helpful but some of it was surprising. The information I found surprising was how different it could be in different buildings. Also, how being an RA is more than just working with their hall. I found out that the RA s should do desk hours and help other RA s during room conflicts. The RA s help each other during difficult parts of the job and this shows how leaders need to work together for a common purpose. Overall this interview has helped me realize what will be the difficult part with the job and some of the perks. I learned many things about being a leader and what to expect with being an RA. Charlie Gordon was an adequate choice for the scientists, Dr. Strous and Dr. Nemur, to choose since Charlie s gains from the surgery overrides his loses. The surgery was to try and triple Charlie Gordan s IQ from 68 to 204, which was a success. Charlie indeed gained several things from his surgery including: understanding of true friendship, emotional maturity, and he finally got his dream come true. In Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes, the doctors made a great choice for picking Charlie Gordan as their test subject. People tend to think that this dream come true does not override the fact that a side effect of his decreasing intelligence is that he died. While dying is not a good thing alone it does not strain from the fact that he died finally achieving something that he spent his whole life trying to reach. So, instead of dying from a life searching but never really achieving. He died a life where he succeeded his dream. Other people say that this human sacrifice was unsafe and that no one knows about it since even the doctors told Charlie not to tell anyone that he was getting the surgery. Well, that is not true. All human exposure studies conducted by EPA scientists are independently evaluated for safety and ethics, and the results are peer reviewed. • 14. Pros And Cons Of Gimo GITMO is still open because it is a US military base in the Caribbean that provides a strategic foothold into Latin America and probably irritates the Castro regime to no end. If you are asking why GITMO is still being used as a facility for the detention of personnel that have been identified as terrorists or insurgents; that would be because we don t want to house them in the contiguous United States and there are limited other options for where to move the remaining detainees without another country being willing to take custody or a military tribunal to determine the guilt or innocence of the individual in detention. The promise made by President Obama was a cute promise made by a man who wanted to be elected as our President, but had yet to realize the undertaking that it would be to actually take to close GITMO as a detention facility. • 15. Papaw Narrative The year of 2014 was probably one of the craziest times of my life. I never thought things would go this way. I thought I was going to be living life with my papaw by my side for a long time. I never thought he would just go away so randomly. There were no warning signs, nothing. To this day I still think about everything that happened. I can t believe he was taken so soon. I realize that God was calling his name, and that it was his time to go. We had so many good memories together, and I wouldn t trade that for the world. He was the best papaw I have ever had, and it sucks that he is gone. I grew up with my papaw always being at the house. He would just show up to hang out. We d talk and joke around. He never failed to make me laugh. I ll never forget half the jokes he always said to me. Some of them weren t very appropriate, but that s just who my papaw was. I remember when the phone would ring, and I would be the only one around to answer it. I would answer the phone and some silly voice would come across the phone. It was always my papaw talking some crazy stuff. He once told me that it was Smokey the Bear, and that he was there to control the forest fires. Some other times he would ask for a pizza. There was never a time that you would answer the phone and not let out a giggle. When I was getting ready to leave for Washington D.C, my eighth grade year, he came to my house to see me before I left. He came to give me some money to shop with and just to joke around. ... • 16. The, An Idea Thought Of By Steven Harris Background: DoorGuard, an idea thought of by Steven Harris, which protects the side of your car from accidental dents that occur in parking lots all across the world. Harris s idea of a product that helps prevent dents in the side of car doors is a very simple idea that many individuals would never have thought to create, and the DoorGuard product would seem to have many buyers who are looking to help protect their new/used cars. The thought of having a giant piece of removable foam on each side of an individual s car has its benefits, and its disadvantages. The strong points of DoorGuard would obviously be the face that it protects the side of an induvial car from unwanted accidental dents that occur when another individual either parks to close to one, or someone who is reckless. On top of preventing dents, DoorGuard is easy to place on the side of car doors, and is easy to dismantle and store away. The protection DoorGuard would bring to one s car comes with some weaknesses. One weakness that seems to stick out is the fact that DoorGuard is a giant foam pad that rests on the side of one s car doors. Many consumers would not like the look of DoorGuard with its big appearance which is good for advertising, but some people would like a product that is minimal and blends in with their cars color. If theft is attempted on the DoorGuard, the cable that goes into the door to keep it from easily getting stolen would tear the panel, thus, ruining the product for the person ... Thus, men felt that if tradition was disrupted, chaos would be unleashed throughout China. Although these laws were created to prevent discrimination, they were not enforced. As a result, discrimination continued. Experts say that only few women dare to sue employers for unfair hiring practices, dismissal on grounds of pregnancy or maternity leave, or sexual harassment ( Equality Still a Dream ). Ultimately, women are able to work outside the home in modern day China; however, they are still hesitant to defend themselves out of fear of losing their jobs. Preference between males and females still exists in the workforce due to the fact that males are not subject to paternity leaves or sexual harassment. Commonly, women are restricted to behind the desk jobs such as secretaries, financial analysts, and librarians as that require very little labor. Indubitably, women also earn less than men as they must retire five years earlier than men who are in the same jobs ( Equality Still a Dream ). Thus, a male is preferred as his role in the workforce is considered to be more substantial than that of a woman, which further emphasizes a son preference in China. • 35. Lean Manufacturing Is An Approach Introduction Lean Manufacturing is an approach taken by manufacturing organization to increase efficiency through optimization and maximize customer value while minimizing waste. Traditionally, Lean principles were applied to manufacturing industries especially automotive companies. However, with the success in automotive industry, it no longer limited to automotive sector and can be applied in other manufacturing sectors as well as services industries (Balle, et al., 2006). The drivers for implementing Lean in both manufacturing and service sectors are customer demands for better quality products and services, managerial demands for cost reduction and sustaining in an increasing market competitiveness. Lean implementation and various success stories has led companies worldwide to introduce lean in their operations and services but majority of these companies achieved only modest levels of success (Womack Jones, 2003). It is reported that many organizations are not able to transform themselves to lean organization and thus at some point of time, lean implementation is destined to fail (Farris, et al., 2009). Some of the main factors for lean failures are poor communication, lack of strong leadership, lack of learning, staff resistance to change, and lack of clear direction (Emiliani Stec, 2005). Researchers have argued that transition to lean environment and sustaining lean improvements requires cultural change in the organization rather than changing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Capital Punishment Must be Abolished Essay Capital Punishment Must be Abolished Is capital punishment just? The death penalty is a controversial issue for most people. Supporter s claim that it eliminates repeat offenders, deters potential murderers and is the ultimate retribution. Opponents denounce it as murder, say that it does not cause deterrence but rather promotes violence and claim that it introduces the chance of an innocent person being executed. Due to the arguments presented by both sides and because of my own personal beliefs, the argument against legal execution is most compelling. The idea of putting another human to death is hard to completely fathom. The physical mechanics involved in carrying out a death sentence on another person, regardless of how much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next method of execution developed after the electric chair was the gas chamber. The gas chamber was first used in 1921. This chamber of death is an airtight room with a chair into which the accused is strapped. Death is caused by exposure to cyanide gas, produced when sodium cyanide is dropped into sulfuric acid. The suffering caused is deliberate and plain to see: writhing, vomiting, shaking and gasping for breath for many seconds. This horrendous technique is used only in a few states. Another form of the death penalty is lethal injection. This form was introduced in the U.S. in 1977 and is now in use in twenty three states. This is the most widespread method and arguably the most humane. The condemned is strapped to a table and injected with sodium triopentone, losing consciousness in ten to fifteen seconds. This is followed by pancuronium bromide, which blocks respiration and finally potassium chloride to stop the heart (Jackson, 38 43). Finally, the last two forms of execution are death by firing squad and death by hanging. These two forms of capital punishment are very rarely ever used. In 1999 there were only two hangings and one death by firing squad. The convicted sometimes have the opportunity to decide how they wish to be executed, which was the case in these three executions. However, while initially at the 5, 10, and 15 minute marks, the rate of fermentation of strawberries was the lowest out of all of the liquid mediums; from the 15 minute mark to the 20 minute mark, the height of the bubbles rapidly increased. The second highest rate of fermentation was from the water, which was used as a constant in the experiment. After the water, it was the grape juice that had the next greatest rate of fermentation, subsequently proceeded by oranges, and then lemons which had the lowest rates of fermentation. Each of the rates of fermentation was determined by looking at the height of the bubbles, in the last 5 minute interval, the 20 minute mark of the lab. When comparing the results to the hypothesis, it is seen that certain parts of the results do not support the hypothesis. It was hypothesized that the liquid mediums created by fruits such as grapes, would result in a higher rate of fermentation. It was then expected to be followed by oranges, strawberries, and lemons respectively. However, the results show that when strawberry juice was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why Gender Inequality Stalled By Stephanie Coontz Stephanie Coontz, author of Why Gender Inequality Stalled, emphasizes on how women are still challenged in today s society about inequality of women wanting to have a career and raising a family instead of staying at home to care for her family. Women making the choice to have a baby and have a career is often frowned upon. According to Coontz, when they become mothers, they face more scrutiny and prejudice on the job than fathers do (7). In a two family household, mothers often have to take off work to care for their children in case of emergencies than fathers do. In single household families, mothers are full time parents and have a full time job. This makes it harder for the women to get equality in the workplace. Do you think that ... • 46. The Cause Of The Ice Age Title The Theory of the Cause of the Ice Age Introduction Background There are many possible reasons for why ice ages form. We aren t sure which are correct. When there is a period of colder global temperatures and recurring glacial expansion, it s called an ice age. Ice ages are capable of lasting hundreds of millions of years. There have been five major that scientists have recorded: the Huronian, Cryogenian, Andean Saharan, Karoo, and Quaternary. Thesis Scientists have numerous predictions as to why ice ages happen, some of which are the distance of the Earth from the sun, the position and height of the continents, and the fluctuations in ocean currents. First Subtopic Continental Positions Topic Sentence Scientists believe that ice ages can be caused by the continents positions that blocks the flow of warm water that comes from the equator. The geological record appears to show that ice ages start when the continents are in positions which block or reduce the flow of warm water from the equator to the poles and thus allow ice sheets to form. (Raymo, Ruddiman, Froelich, 1988) Important aspects which contributed to ancient climate regimes are the ocean currents, which are modified by continent position as well as other factors. (Raymo, Ruddiman, Froelich, 1988) The continents positions play a big role. Continents move over time because of the tectonic plates. • 47. Analysis of The Brady Bill Essay Analysis of The Brady Bill Introduction The legislative process in the United States Congress shows us an interesting drama in which a bill becomes a law through compromises made by diverse and sometimes conflicting interests in this country. There have been many controversial bills passed by Congress, but among all, I have taken a particular interest in the passage of the Brady bill. When the Brady debate was in full swing in Congress about three years ago, I was still back in my country, Japan, where the possession of guns is strictly restricted by laws. While watching television news reports on the Brady debate, I wondered what was making it so hard for this gun control bill to pass in this gun violence ridden country. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The exception was the Southern Democrats most of whom joined the Republicans to vote for the amendment. This party division was not so surprising, however, considering the huge campaign contributions made by the chief gun lobby, the National Rifle Association (NRA), directed mostly to the Republicans, and the exception of the Southern Democrats could be explained by the gun right supportive nature of their constituents. In the 1992 election for example, this organization made $1.7 million contribution to its sympathetic congressional candidates and spent another $870,000 in independent expenditures for congressional races.1 The influence the NRA exercised on the legislation was enormous since the final bill passed in 1993 was a compromise version reflecting some of the NRA sought provisions. I could say that it was because of this persistent lobby that the Brady bill took as long as 7 years to become a law. On the other side, the advocates of the bill enjoyed a wide support from the public as well as from the Handgun Control Inc., the chief gun control lobby led by Sarah Brady, the wife of James Brady. The consistent public support for the bill from the introduction through the passage of the bill was manifested by many polls. One of the polls conducted by NBC News and Wall Street ...
