The document discusses DiVA, an open access digital archive and publishing platform started in 2000 by Uppsala University Library. DiVA is used by 30 Scandinavian universities and research institutes and contains over 475,000 references, nearly 100,000 in full text. It serves as a common search interface and platform for universities to self-archive research publications and student theses. DiVA content is disseminated through various channels and has had over 10 million full texts downloaded. A new publishing platform called alvin is being developed that builds on DiVA's techniques to handle different media types and large files.
