 Seminar has got an increased importance among
the learning experiences provided in schools.
 It is a highy practical and useful educative
programme to a larger group.
 A person presents a ready made paper or lecture
on a specific subject before a group.
 Now- a- days, audio-visual aids are also used in
presenting seminars.
 The various actions are taken up appropriate to
the time schedule.
 To help the students get an in depth
understanding of the subject matter.
 To develop the habit of tolerance and co-operation
among students.
 To help the students overcome the problem of
stage fear.
 To help in developing the ability for keen
observation and to present ideas effectively.
 To help in acquiring good manners of raising and
answering questions.
On the basis of scope and level of organisation a
seminar is of three types..
1] Mini Seminar
2] Major Seminar
3] State/ National/ International Seminar.
 Mini Seminar : A seminar introduced to discuss a
topic in a class is called Mini Seminar.
 Major Seminar: A seminar that is organised at
department level or at organisational level on a
major theme is called Major Seminar.
 State/ National/ International Seminars: It is
defined as a government or non- governmental
organisation or international agencies that
organise seminars on state, national or
international levels.
 It helps the learner to develop analytical and
critical thinking.
 It develops in learners self-reliance and self-
confidence.
 It develops the ability to comprehend major ideas
by listening.
 It helps the ability to raise relevant ad pin-pointed
questions.
 The presenter can be evaluated in systematic way.
 Lack of preparation on the part of the paper
presenter may take the seminar a mere waste.
 The formal structure of seminar restrict the
participants from asking questions as and when
needed.
 The success of the seminar fully depends on the
ability of the person who is presenting the topic.
His inability will create problems.

His inability will create problems.
