Conflict Within American Civil Society And The Jcpoa
in countering better funded opponents emerged in the context of this convergence of dissimilar
interests. Synthesis: Conflict within American Civil Society and the JCPOA The above potently
demonstrates the degree to which civil societal mobilization can serve to privilege diplomacy over war
in the context of even the most long running and intransigent instances of conflict. Indeed, and in
examining the civil societal contributions to the JCPOA discussed above, it is first critical to recognize
that pro JCPOA forces, at both the grassroots and grasstops levels, succeeded in defeating one of the
most powerful lobbies in American politics in the form of AIPAC. Given this reality, the triumph of
diplomacy over war that was embodied by the JCPOA, at a time when a propitious moment for
negotiations with Iran had been reached due to changes in both the Iranian and American diplomatic
landscapes, is one in which civil societal mobilization played a very significant role. Tangibly then,
the success of the deal demonstrates the degree to which ordinary citizens can influence the highest
levels of diplomacy when optimally organized and supported. Indeed, and in this context, one of the
most interesting elements of this civil societal mobilization, considering the degree to which grasstops
and grassroots interaction was critical to it, was the manner by which a relationship between civil
society, traditional interest groups and supportive members of the Congress was developed through

The Movement Of The Middle East
Some examples of prominent ex Nazi members who escaped to the middle east are as follows. Franz
Rademacher was a Nazi aide under Secretary of state Luther. Rademacher fled to Spain and then
Damascus, Syria where he worked in foreign trade. Walter Rauff was responsible for the development
of mobile gas vans. Fled to Damascus in 1947, and worked over 47 ex Nazis to reorganize Syrian
intelligence. A third example is Alois Brunner. Brunner was Eichmann s right hand man and was
responsible for the deportation and death of 100,000 European Jew s. After being sentenced to death
by a French tribunal, Brunner escaped to Egypt, and then on the advice of Al Husaini went to Syria,
where he worked for Syrian intelligence. Brunner lives to this day in Syria, under the protection of
around the clock Syrian body guards.
The reason that the Arab state protected ex Nazi war criminals was because of a desire to rebuild the
radical Islamist movement that Al Husaini and his associates had created prior to the war. These Nazis
became the basis of this radical Arab movement that dominates the Muslim groups of today. In
contrast to Germany, Middle eastern Moderate leaders in opposition to Al Husaini and the axis powers

Arab state was cleansing itself of moderate populations, and in this way, it became, even more
radicalized. With many of their political leaders and parties driven from the region,

Homelessness And Homeless Veterans
Introduction
In 2009, President Barack Obama and VA Secretary Eric Shinseki, set out to eliminate veteran
homelessness within a six year time frame (National Alliance to End Homelessness, 2015). While they
may not have succeeded in eliminating veteran homelessness by 2015, their plan has certainly set
things in motion. In January 2015 there were a reported 47,725 homeless veterans in the United States.
This is a four percent decrease from 2014 (The State of Homelessness In America, 2016). In that same
year a Point In Time count was taken in the State of Oregon, which showed there were a total of 1,467
homeless veterans (Homelessness in Oregon, 2015), of which, in a street survey conducted in Marion
County, twenty six homeless identified ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast Alternative Family And Nuclear Family
The nuclear family vs. alternative family structure
Initially a picture of a nuclear family would best describe a so called family but today alternative
family structure is increasing because of the changing nature of families. This is due to things such as
technology, changing structure of families e.g. women entering workplace and divorce rate that cause
s initial structure to be broken down as people live as they please. In this essay nuclear family
structure verses the alternative family structure will be discussed through sociological imagination. A
family is a group of people that are interlinked through blood, the law (marriage), co residence or
share the same resources. They are further described as adults of the same sex with children. Through

This then as stated above increases families such as single parents (by choose) and much more. Today
a lot of people strive for emotional security, if they cannot find it in a particular relationship they are
currently involved in, they are able to terminate that relationship and persuade it elsewhere. This
difference in these structures, from financial security to emotional security, makes it flexible for
people to move about because of the decrease in dependence on men from women. This had been said,
does not make the people incapable of raising of children, but highlights their level of independency.
They are also able to provide a safe and nutritious life for their children as in nuclear families.
This structure also comes with great benefits like children not getting exposed to conflict that may
detriment them physically and emotionally due to things such as parents fighting, they develop a
stable mentality on who they depend on, do not have to experience tragic events such as when the
parents get a

Harley Davidson And The Motorcycle Industry
History:
Foundation:
It all started in Milwaukee, Winsconsin in 1903 when William Harley, Walter and Arthur Davidson
created their first Harley Davidson in their family building. Harley Davidson and the motorcycle
industry wasn t a big company until after the Second World War. Many people rode motorcycles
during the war, with Harley Davidson themselves becoming the major supplier not only for the U.S.
military but other allied forces as well during this time. Many veterans chose to purchase motorcycles
upon returning home, as they enjoyed riding during the war and wanted to continue riding in their
civilian life. This generation quickly became the main target audience for many of Harley Davidson s
marketing efforts and main target for buyers as by 1956, Indian Motorcycles declared bankruptcy and
stopped producing motorcycles altogether, leaving only Harley as a major producer and seller of
motorcycles.
Harley Davidson Today and the challenges:
The motorcycle industry offers products which can be viewed as luxuries or wants as opposed to
necessities. Harley Davidson owns Buell motorcycle and Harley Davidson financial services. Harley
Davidson now holds 55 percent of the entire U.S. motorcycle market, and an even higher share in the
U.S. heavy motorcycle market. This is the result of increasing investment in R D. Harley Davidson
now has over 6,000 employees. Harley Davidson has benefited from a segment of the U.S. market
which enjoys recreational riding. This isn t

Understand The Common Process Of Appointing The Prime...
The central focus of this essay is to understand the common process of appointing the Prime Minister,
interpreting how Theresa May was selected and to comprehend as to whether or not this process was
fair. Traditionally, the leader of the political party that can control a majority in the House of
Commons, shall be appointed Prime Minister. When a Prime Minister resigns, he or she advises the
Queen , however this is only a suggestion, she isn t obliged. This is a rather inadequate factor as the
Monarch has Royal Prerogative , a privilege of entitlement in appointing whoever she wishes to fulfil
this role. As Harold Nicolson wrote in 1952 When the head of a Government resigns, or is defeated in
Parliament , the choice of his successor devolves upon the King alone . Although the Queen can
lawfully select anybody she wishes, this is overruled by constitutional conventions, a set of rules
which guide her in this process. On June 23rd,2016 the results of the referendum called by David
Cameron, changed the political landscape of England. David Cameron, former Prime Minister led the
campaign to remain during the referendum, however he was unsuccessful and an incumbent Prime
Minister. Thus he had to resign, The Prime Minister resigned on Friday 24th June . Theresa May ...

The reason being is that she commanded a handsome amount of support in both rounds of her party s
vote. Her final contender Andrea Leadson left the race, leaving only Theresa May standing. The
Conservative party was left without a leader and due to Theresa May being a more cogent and
experienced politician than the other candidates , she was unequivocally the most suitable candidate
for the role of the Prime Minister. This displays that this process was equal and at no point was it
uncandid. Respectfully Westminster have remained democratic throughout the difficult circumstances

Christian High School Challenges
Everyone goes through a challenge at some point in their life. I went through a challenge last year at
the beginning of my freshman year attending Foothills Christian High School. Last year, my freshman
year I did not know anybody starting the school year. This made me super nervous to start high
school. I was also concerned about the three days a week at school and two days homeschool. One of
my challenges was going to school and parts of that challenge was not knowing anybody starting
school, having to go to school on three days a week instead of five, and not knowing the campus well.
One major part of the challenge for me was going to a new school and not knowing anyone. I wasn t

Siddhartha Lessons
Lessons are best learned through experience. This holds true in Hermann Hesse s Novel Siddhartha.
On his path to enlightenment, Siddhartha experiences many different circumstances that shape the way
he becomes by the end of the novel. He encounters trials and tribulations, such as affection, self
exploration, and sadness, much like I have. Through these experiences, both Siddhartha and I were not
only guaranteed knowledge of our situations, but eternal wisdom through our experiences. Siddhartha
ignores the ways of other spiritual groups, and goes on his own path, and I break away from mean
spirited people. In part one, Siddhartha decides after trying the way of the Samanas, that it is not for
him, and Govinda follows. In this quote, Siddhartha explains to Govinda, that although Govinda
believes that the samanas will help them attain wisdom and enlightenment, he has noticed that all of
them are old and frail, even unhappy. He has lived for sixty years and has not reached the nirvana. He
ll turn seventy and eighty, and you and me, we will grow just as old and will do our exercises, and will
fast, and will meditate. But we will not reach the nirvana, he won t and we won t. (Hesse 20). This
leaves Siddhartha to believe that although they may have pushed away their desires for human
contact, and ousted their needs for food and shelter, they have still not reached enlightenment, even as
old men. They then try to make way with the Buddha. Siddhartha is bewildered by the fact

Persuasive Essay On Black Hate
In the same way, the Spelman College administration, faculty, and students that disregard the West
End community that surrounds the college only contribute to the erosion of our community and our
people. Although this is not a language of hate, it is a clear display of indifference which
communicates the same thing. Choosing to disregard the homeless, pay little attention to the
gentrification that is rampantly kicking our people out of our community, or ignore ways to provide
opportunities or exposure to the high school students in our own back yard; are we truly activating
black love as political resistance or are we ignoring the needs of the people that are around us every
day? We need to realize that there are two vehicles that drive the future of the black community: one
of black love and one of black hate. Realize that, although society drives black hate we can be
passengers in that car. We can disagree and reject their ideology, all the while internalizing it. Even
though we are not driving, our inability to articulate black love as fluently as we articulate black hate,
allows black hate to trump black love. Therefore, in our lives, in our homes, in our communities, and
on our HBCU campuses the darkness and degradation of blackness thrives by separating us from our
own people and making it seem normal to demean ourselves, our race, and our people. Is this behavior
not subtly mimicking those of the oppressor? Although some our actions contradict our feelings

Women s Impact On American History
In today s society, fraternities and sororities have been known to have major impressions on students
who attend college. In some cases, Greek organizations and their standings at universities aid in
determining ones choice for higher education. For example, some schools are known for sports, others
are known for their Black Greek Letter Organizations. When it comes to fraternities and sororities in
general, the topic could seem somewhat controversial due to mixed emotions and beliefs. While
attending an HBCU (Historically Black College and University) the accusations of Greeks running the
yard became vividly true. The topic of research to be discussed is objectification, power and the
perception of African Americans affiliated with sororities and fraternities at Historically Black
Colleges and Universities.
The country s verifiably Black Greek letter associations (BGLOs), by and large alluded to as the
Divine Nine, have had fundamental impact in American history. Since each association s establishing
all through the 20th century, Black organizations and sororities have not just given African Americans

especially in the ranges of social liberties, social welfare and governmental issues.

The James Valcq s Musical Adaptation Of The Spitfire Grill
Something Was Cooking at the Spitfire Grill
Southern Utah University performed James Valcq s musical adaptation of The Spitfire Grill (Valcq,
2016). The production overall was slightly above average. There were aspects of the musical that
worked perfectly to go along with the main seed of redemption. Ideas and concepts of relationships,
redemption, and continuity were successfully and less than successfully shared through this play. I
will be going over how I believe The Spitfire Grill connected itself to the seed of redemption through
what I saw and felt throughout the show.
Waiting for the show to start was actually when the production started. While I sat in the house for the
show to start, the smell of someone s coffee filled the room. I was momentarily distracted by trying to
figure out who was the coffee culprit and how their cup of coffee could be so potent that I could still
smell it with only five minutes until show time. As I gave up that hunt, I read the plays brochure and
brought up a summary of the play on my phone. I quickly put two and two together: 1) The Spitfire
Grill is a breakfast hub and 2) coffee is a breakfast staple. The house having an aroma of freshly
brewed coffee was completely intentional and lasted all throughout the first act. I really enjoyed the
sense of smell being involved with the audience because it made me feel as if I was waiting for my
order to arrive. The smell of coffee is also a comfort smell to me and only made me feel comfy

The Voting Age Should Be Legal
Twenty one year olds are mature enough to make important decisions such as voting. Most countries
around the world have established a voting age. Voting is a topic of heated debate in the United States
due to difference of opinions between the democrat and republican parties. In the United States the
voting age has been reduced from twenty one years old to eighteen years old. Even though the voting
age was reduced, some people have been lobbying in order to reduce the voting age to sixteen.
Reducing the legal age for voting is a bad idea, because the younger generation lacks the capability of
having an informed decision for voting. Although some people believed that the legal voting age
should be lower than eighteen, on the other hand others believe it should be returned to twenty one.
The legal voting age should be returned to twenty one because the majority of people over twenty one
are more educated about politics than an eighteen year old. People who are over twenty one are not
easily influenced by people s opinions and are more capable of evaluating future outcomes.
The legal voting age should be returned to twenty one, because people over twenty one are more
educated about politics. People under the age of twenty one tend to focus more on social media and
school. However, most people under the age of twenty one do not understand how much politics and
government affects their life. If you go to any college campus and talk with eighteen year old student,

Essay about Minority and majority rights
The rights of many people versus the rights of an individual is certainly a vexing concept. Like a
delicate balancing act; if one side is favoured over the other it causes a rift in the already strained
relationship between the minority and majority. Evidently, the justification of taking any side must be
valid, according to the theories of H.L.A. Hart. In the past, Canadian law has violated the rights of
minorities; however, these violations have decreased in their severity as time has passed on. Some
cases where the balance between minority and majority rights is questioned is in The Canadian Indian
Residential School System, Bill 101, Equality in the Workplace and The Public Service Act.
To begin, Aboriginal rights have, historically, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Act was amended for the first time in 1885, the amendment prohibited religious practices and
traditional dances. The validity of these laws is questionable. According to H.L.A. Hart s philosophies:
these measures were not valid. Laws are to protect society from exploitation and violence of the weak
and vulnerable; instead children were taken out of their homes and forced into a new strange
environment where they were likely abused. One of Hart s theories says that: for a law to be valid,
rules should be obeyed because they make sense, not because of the fear of punishment. In these
residential schools the Children were forced to dress, speak and act in a European manner they would
receive harsh punishments otherwise; clearly, this is not valid. It was a serious violation of human
rights for a minority group in the human population. Canada has recognized this and in 2007 a 1.9
billion dollar compensation package was put together for those who attended residential schools; a
formal apology was also delivered by Stephen Harper to residential school students in 2008.
Therefore, Canada has severely violated the rights of the Aboriginal minority in the interest to
assimilate them into Canadian society; the mistake was recognized and compensation was given. It is
no secret that French English relations in Canada have been strained in the past and still are albeit to a
lesser extent.

The s Relationship With Abraxas
Olsen goes on to ask important questions when it comes to the Templars relationship with Abraxas,
such as why the Templars used the Abraxas seal and did the Order use it like Lamy suggested? And if
they did use it, was it utilized by an inner secret circle of Templars? Olsen also mentions a mysterious
text called the Levitikon, which is probably written in the early 1800 s which presents Jesus as an
initiate of the Egyptian higher mysteries, just as Simon Magus is depicted in the Clementines. Further
onward, Olsen writes (p. 123): In 1877 a German Masonic specialist named Merzdorf claimed to have
found, among other Masonic manuscripts, two Latin Rules of Templars (purported to date from the
13th Century). One was the Rule for the chosen brothers, and the other for the consoled brothers. The
first Rule describes the church as the Synagogue of Anti Christ, and stipulates an elect reception
ceremony (involving various ritual kisses one on the male member and including readings from open
verses from the Koran). The latter Rule implies strongly the Templars shared the doctrines of the
Cathars, including that of the consolamentum, or mystical baptism. Still authenticity of these has yet
to be determined. What is the most tantalizing of what Oslen is saying here is that there is a Medieval
text from 1240 called The Book of the Baptism of Fire which was transcribed by Robert Standford,
the Grand Master in England. In this text, it talks about more about these

Symbols and Symbolism in Young Goodman Brown Essay
Within the Christian faith, there lies the belief that all mankind are born sinners and through their faith
can seek redemption. This belief can be found in more detail within the Christian text known as the
Bible. An example of this can be found in the Genesis chapter of the Bible which portrays that even
the very first Humans ever to be created in God s image, named Adam and Eve, defied God despite his
pre emptive warnings not too because of their natural tendency as humans to sin. Not only can one
chose with their own will to disobey God but one s faith can be easily swayed by the evils of the world
therefore sin can forever bind them in chains for eternity. Young Goodman Brown, by Nathaniel
Hawthorne, reveals a similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hawthorne uses this quote as an underlying statement that it wasn t just his wife that held him back
from his rendezvous with the Devil, but also his Faith in God. Hawthorne meant for the reader to
make the connection between Goodman s Wife, Faith and Goodman s faith in God for which both
attempt to sway Goodman from following the path the Devil intends for him.
Hawthorne in essence, portrayed Goodman as proof of the nature of evil in man by showing how
easily even a young dedicated Puritan can easily be influenced by a complete stranger. This stranger
was symbolically the Devil among men in this text. Hawthorne begins introducing the Devil
immediately as trying to sway Goodman to follow him on a long journey. By leaving his wife, Faith to
begin the journey, Goodman Brown was symbolically leaving his faith in God and entering a forsaken
ground by following the Devil. The fact that Goodman Brown left with no regard for his wife Faith s
warning, symbolized the lack of regard for his own faith in God and his fellow human race. This
simple disregard that Goodman Brown showed was evidence of the easily persuaded ability of man to
choose sin over good.
The man that Goodman Brown encountered on his journey symbolized the devil in the text which
strongly influenced him to just about give up his faith in God. The Devil disguised as a fellow traveler
(266) tried to influence Goodman Brown by

Clues to the True Meaning of “Sestina” by Elizabeth Bishop
A sestina is a fixed form of six stanzas that end with an envoi, an address to an imagined or real
subject. This particular form of Sestina by Elizabeth Bishop takes you through one particular
afternoon of a grandmother and her grandchild. Though the poem itself is ambiguous, Bishop
foreshadows the grandmother s demise throughout the entirety of the poem. The five words almanac,
grandmother, tears, stove, and house are used at the end of each line for the six stanzas and envoi.
They are clues as to figuring out the meaning of the poem. However, they are not the only clues as
symbolism is the main usage of figurative language. The speaker is assumed to be Elizabeth Bishop
but even she has written the poem in a way that reflects that of an outside observer to obscure the
poem even further. To start off the analysis, the setting of the entire poem is significant. Though the
poem takes place in a house, the atmosphere the house is set in is also important. The month is
September which is a month of fall which can be seen as a symbol for decline. It definitely insinuates
that the poem is leading towards death. Line 1 has September rain falls on the house which gives the
feeling of a dark and cold night with a storm on top of that. To further develop that, Bishop gives us
the failing light in line 2 to also give us an idea of the grandmother s struggle. Bishop uses the cyclical
theme of changing seasons to show the unending nature of what is transpiring within the

Should Henry Come Out Of The Closet Essay
Question: Should Henry (the 15 year old boy) come out of the closet and not keep his sexuality a
secret from his family and friends? Yes, I feel that Henry should come out of the closet. Ethical
Principle 1 (Rights): Sexual orientation is inherent in every human being. It is something beyond our
control and it wasn t Henry s choice to be homosexual. It is his basic human right to decide if he wants
to come out . If he does, he should not be judged as he definitely has reasons for doing so. He is
probably tired of hiding himself and what he truly is. Homosexuals are human as well. It is wrong for
society to place Henry as a subject for discrimination just because they perceive homosexuality as
unacceptable. Instead, he deserves equal rights ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

unable to accept his sexuality, what more can we expect from the cruel society? It may result in Henry
living in self destruction and psychological distress. Addressing the negative impact: Since family
acceptance would mean the greatest, my suggestion is to put Henry s family through counselling.
Although it may be a long process, it will help change their perceptions and slowly accept Henry for
who he is. There is a need for society to learn to accept homosexuals. One solution is to increase the
number of counselling and support centres. By doing so, it encourages more homosexuals to accept
themselves, thus making it more socially acceptable. We should not stress over the way others choose
to live let people love who they love. Question: Should Jane (the wife and mother of one child)

Federico Garcia Lorca s La Casa De Bernarda Alba
I was never the kid to write on walls. I needed a bigger canvas, and the sand offered me all the space I
needed. From sunrise to sunset, I would spend my days on the beach. I used a wooden stick half my
size to pretend to write. I would talk to the small creatures around me and I would baptize them with
names of friends I never had. The beaming sun kept a watchful eye out for me as I ran to hug the
incoming waves. I squealed with delight as they kissed the shoreline. The only thing that I worried
about was how the sand kept creeping in between my toes. And when the sun began to sink, I knew it

grandfather s affinity of Spanish and Mexican literature was outstanding. He would read with vivid
enthusiasm; he would act out scenes for me and make funny voices to represent each character. At a
tender age of 4, I would run around reciting Antonio Machado s He Andado Muchos Caminos. Sure, I
didn t quite understand it s meaning but it had a nice, wavy tone that I could remember. Throughout
the years, I learned from Luis de Gongora, Tirso de Molina, Gustavo Adolfo Becquer, Emilia Pardo
Bazan, Ruben Dario, and Julia de Burgos through my grandfather. When I finally learned how to read,
I was the one who would read to my grandfather. I would climb into his bed and attempt to tuck him
in. Then I would drag his enormous rocking chair into the bedroom and bring a book to read. I would
sink into the chair and try to imitate my grandfather s musical voice. Even though I stumbled through

Partial Birth Abortion is Murder Essay
Partial Birth Abortion is Murder
Partial birth abortion is a controversial method of abortion late in a woman s pregnancy in which the
baby is aborted by a craniotomy. Two organizations are commonly affiliated with abortion: Pro choice
supports abortion saying that what is in a woman s body is her property , while Pro life believes it is
murder of innocent babies. Partial birth abortion is murder of innocent children and an abomination to
basic human rights and values.
Thesis Statement: Partial birth abortion is murder of innocent babies and an abomination to basic

Opposing Views
The opposing sides on the partial birth abortion issue are distinctly opposite. Pro choice, which
supports abortion, says that partial birth abortion is rarely done, and only then when the mother s life
is endangered or the child is deformed. Abortion supporters also say that the baby is only a fetus, and
cannot feel any pain when the abortion happens. According to Sykes (2000), people are misled into
thinking that partial birth abortion happens thousands of times a year, but they only happen about 650
times a year. She also argues that the name partial birth abortion , which was given to the method in
1995, alone is misleading in that it implies that a full term baby is being killed while it is in the
process of being born. The name late term is also said to be confusing because it implies a third
trimester abortion (Sykes, 2000). According to Sykes (2000), Intact D X has been around for a while
and says, The procedure is not new a 19th century medical textbook I own describes a method of
abortion that involves a craniotomy, and so does a 1930 edition of Williams Obstetrics...
Pro life supporters argue that partial birth abortion is done up to 4,000 times a year, and is usually used
in situations that aren t life threatening. Captured in a direct

He was an unashamed beggar for beauty and an unsurpassed inventor of it. Here are some of his
famous quotations from The Dramatic Imagination, We have learned that beneath the surface of an
ordinary everyday normal casual conscious existence there lies a vast dynamic world of impulse and

which motivate all our thoughts and actions. Our playwrights are attempting to express directly to the
audience the unspoken thoughts of their characters, wo show us not only the patterns of their
conscious behavior but the pattern of their subconscious lives. We accept motion pictures unthinkingly

Essay On Standing Tall
The book, Standing Tall: The Kevin Everett Story (Published in 2008) written by Sam Carchidi is
about a former NFL player overcoming a seemingly irreversible injury during his professional career.
I selected this book because it reminds me of the days when I played football in high school and how
fortunate I was to be able to walk away from the sport with no severe injuries. I constantly read about
the freak accidents in football that either left an athlete with a lifelong injury or sometimes even death.
This book stood out to me because it is about a player who went against the odds and was able to
somewhat recover from what seemed like an injury that would have left him disabled for the rest of
his life. The book begins conversation about how Kevin Everett was entering his third year as a tight
end and special team s player for the Buffalo Bills organization with a promising future ahead of him.
This was all about to change in the season opening game for Keven against the Denver Broncos.
During the opening game Kevin was making special teams tackle after a punt to put the Broncos far
back into their own territory, but that tackle was about to change Kevin s life. After taking down the
opposing player Kevin was left in the ground motionless and not responding. Kevin was carted off the
field and taken to one of the nearest hospitals. After ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Christ Birth Research Paper
Christmas is arguably the biggest holiday in the western world. It is the holiday that brings forth the
spirt of joy, giving s and love. Christmas is also the year that brings forth remembrance of Jesus Christ
s birth. However, the nativity story, the story of Christ birth, has much more meaning to it then what
people reflect on it as. When the Nativity story is told it seems the main focus or the happy ending is
always the savior birth. That arguably is not what the Bible fully attended the focus to remain on. The
Nativity story is more than just a story about Christ birth; it is a metaphor that paints the picture of the

Mary knew that Joseph would most likely leave her due to her mysteries pregnancy and a tarnished
reputation. Although, those things are very important factors to look at when considering the risk
Mary took, when she accepted to birth the Messiah, the most significate risk Mary had taken was the
endangerment of her own life. According to the Old Testament law, if a women failed to remain
physically pure before marriage she would be brought to the door of her father s house, and the men of
her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the
whore in her father s house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you. And if the women was
betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; Then ye shall bring them
both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die. Again, Mary knew
the challenges she had to face. She had nothing but a story of an angel to give to Joseph and the towns
people. The possibility of Joseph and the towns people believing that Mary, a poor servant,
miraculously became pregnant by the Holy Spirit is as slim as it would be now. In fact, most would
conclude that Mary was covering up an immoral relationship with Roman soldier. Yet, Mary kept the
same attitude that her son had in Gethsemane when He prayed, not my will, but thine, be done.

Evaluation Of A Learning Organization
Organizations that strive to excel in aspects of innovation, competitiveness, and performance must
have clearly defined core values that are executed by specific learning disciplines (Senge, 2010).
Giesecke and McNeil (2004) stated, A learning organization is an organization skilled at creating,
acquiring, and transferring knowledge and at modifying its behavior to reflect new knowledge and
insights (p. 55). In the pursuit of defining specific practices that would produce an ideal learning
organization, Senge (2008) proposes five disciplines that include, ...systems thinking, mental models,
personal mastery, shared vision, and dialogue (p. 1). In this application paper I will analyze each of the
five disciplines discussed by Senge (2008) and discuss how they can be applied in an organization
such as the high school where I am currently teaching to address specific areas in need of
improvement. The high school where I currently teach consists of twenty four hundred students from
grades 10th through 12th. This school organization as many others is in the business of meeting
educational challenges in the midst of innovative times in a noble attempt to prepare students
academically for the demands of an ever changing and knowledge driven work environment. There
are several key factors that I observe in our school that have in some way hindered our progress in
becoming an ideal learning organization. First, our school depends on the collaborative and

Lab Report On Water Erosion
Erosion is materials such as rock and soil being removed by the force of weathering such as water,
wind, ice etc. Water erosion would be the main focus throughout this lab. Water Erosion involves rock
and soil being removed by any movements of water. An example would be the Grand Canyon. It
began in colorado, but due to colorado river it continue to grow deeper and cut into Arizona. Water
erosion occurs into anything involving river banks, streams, seashores, and lastly seaside cliffs.
Throughout the year water erosion particularly happens during spring time due to water showers and
creates a great amount of water to create water erosion.
The occurrence of water erosion is divided into 6 different stages. Sheet erosion is lost of soil between
cultivated and uncultivated environments. Cultivate is essential a way to prepare land of water

Comes along Gully erosion which is an amount of soil getting removed by water. Splash erosion will
come next which is movement of soil being directly affected by splashing. Bank erosion come next
which is essentially wearing away for rivers and valleys.
Purpose:
The purpose of this experiment is to examine the impacts of water erosion on soil due to splashing.

The evaluation and selection of suppliers, structuring the supplier base is an important task in any

Choice and Direction in the Writings of Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
Satire in American literature has evolved in response to the development of the American mind, its
increasing use of free will, and the context that surrounds this notion. Satire is the biting wit that
authors (labeled satirists) bring to their literature to expose and mock the follies of society. Satirists
can be divided, however, into two groups with very different purposes. One type mocks simply for the
enjoyment of mocking. These satirists are found almost everywhere in the world, on every street
corner, household, and television sitcom. It is the second type of satirist who is a strong force in the
world of literature. The satirical author will mock to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The complexities of institutions such as business and government are confusing the sense of direction
needed in order to prosper, causing a spiritual decline that results in the warping of the public s
morals. Vonnegut also feels that the American attitude of dwelling on the worst events of life is
contributing this loss of spirit. Vonnegut offers solutions to this problem in Slaughterhouse Five, as he
introduces new ways of perceiving our lives. With the increasing amount of free will that is being
granted to people around the world, many have no sense of how to use it. Vonnegut is particularly
upset with the way that Americans are living and the way in which society is moving. Through his
literature, he offers a path for the use of free will with the notion that all people are given the
opportunity to better themselves. Through the bettering of the individual comes the bettering of
society.
Vonnegut s last addition to the literary world is his wantonly satirical novel Timequake. Timequake is
devoted to the concept of free will and its dominance in nature. In this novel Vonnegut forces people
to take a step back and look at how the human race is doing: At 2:27 p.m. on February 13th of the year
2001, the Universe suffered a crisis in self confidence. Should it go on expanding indefinitely? (32) At

Assess the significance of Kristallnacht
Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass , is one of the most crucial events in German, Jewish, and
World History. Before, the Jews were simply assaulted and verbally abused. However, on the night of
November 9, 1938, an unplanned and extremely violent action against the Jews occurred. In two days,
over 250 synagogues were burnt down while the fire department did nothing to stop it, over 7,000
Jewish businesses were trashed and looted, Jews were murdered, Jewish cemeteries, schools,
hospitals, and homes were looted by SS while the police attempted to preserve them but failed. Before

Finally, many purely hated Jews because they were not Aryan. Germany was one of these countries.
Hitler, the leader of Germany, has carried hate for the Jews since early childhood. Primarily, he
blamed them for his mother s death along with him not getting into his dream school, Vienna Art
College. Also, they were blamed by Germany for defeat in WWI and as the cause for unemployment.
However, mainly Jews were persecuted because of the way they looked. At the time, Hitler wanted a
racially pure Germany. He believed that by adapting the Darwin theory of survival of the fittest, he
would be able to create a stronger generation and kill those that are impure or disabled.
Prior to the horrific Night of Broken Glass Jews material comforts and mental health declined due to
the early Nazi anti Jew moves in 1933. On the 1st of April 1933, the SA organized a boycott of all
Jewish shops and businesses. However, due to the lack of interest and customer loyalty to Jews
businesses, the boycott failed. Along with the boycott, in 1933, Jewish civil servants, teachers,
bankers, and lawyers were sacked and Race Science lessons taught that Jews were inferior. To add, in
1934, they were also banned from public places including swimming pools and parks. Along with
their mental health being put at risk so were their material comforts. On September 15, 1935, The

A Sociological View of Rastafarianism
Organized religion is a duality between the religion and the church which represents it. Sometimes the
representation of the religion is marred and flawed to those who view it because of the bureaucracy
contained within. Unknown to those who gaze upon the dissolved morals and values of what is
perceived to be the contradiction known as modern religion, it was never intended to be this way.
Most religions started off as a sect, a minor detail on the fringes of the society it never wanted to
represent. Rastfarianism is such a sect. The differences between Rastafarianism and a normal
mainstream religion are numberless, including: no set membership, no authoritative leader, no offices

Rastafarianism was more than a religion to the people of Jamaica, it was a hope. It was their escape
from the the rational everyday world. This theodicy of suffering, in which the underprivileged and
underrepresented Jamaicans believed, was compensation for the deplorable state in which they found
themselves. The Rastafarian way of living and their everyday activities began as a deviant social
behavior, but rather was a routinization of the masses into one cohesive unit, following the same
general creed under different principles. This point can be seen most specifically in the modern
Rastafarian hairstyles. In traditional Rastafarianism most Rastas do not cut their hair but allow it to
grow naturally long matted strands or locks. These locks are in accordance with the Leviticus 21:5:
They shall not make baldness upon their head (Johnson Hill 25). But in today s Rastafarianism, their

The first modern Olympics was held in Athens, Greece, in 1896. The first foot races were held at this
event. We now refer to these exciting races as track. The races consist of sprinters, middle distance,
and distance runners. The races can range from 100 meters all the way up to 10,000 meters. All of
these runners have different jobs and roles on their teams. A great deal of precise and dedicated
training goes into their workouts. Despite the distance they run, track runners are extremely hard
workers. One type of runner in track is the sprinter. The original Olympic event know as the stadion
race, was a sprint of around 180 meters. Now there are generally three different sprint distances. These
consists of the 100 meter, 200 meter, and the 400 meter dash. Most elite level sprinters train about 20
hours a week for races that are just seconds long. They have to train on the track, in the weight room,
and in the kitchen. Michael Johnson and Tyson Gay are two very talented runners that ran for USA.
The greatest sprinter of all time is a Jamaican runners named Usain Bolt. Usain Bolt is considered a
legend on the track. He has been to 4 olympic games, where he collected 8 medals, all ... Show more

Long distance events in track include the 5,000 and 10,000 meter races. Many people consider the
long distance runners to be the hardest workers of the three types of runners. A typical week for a
distance runner like Galen Rupp consists of running up to 135 miles per week. This is done with no
rest days and two sessions every day. Long distance runners lose gallons of sweat every week, so
staying hydrated is very important. Mohamed, Mo, Farah is the most famous distance runner in the
world currently. He was born in Somalia, but he runs competitively for Great Britain. Mo has four
gold medals from two different Olympics, making him the most successful British track athlete ever.
He is well known for working very hard in

These weeks have been hard on everyone; this time more than ever makes it hard for me to think
about resigning. As much as McMurphy has changed this ward for the better, there are moments when
I wish I could just leave. Before McMurphy arrived there had been a form of brutal control. The
patient life`s were scheduled from the time they woke up to the time they went to bed, shoved down
their throat, whether they like it or not by the intimidating Nurse Ractched. Each day was a game uno,
each day a patient grows restless, defies Nurse Ratched only to be oppressed by her accusing stare.
This life was neither free nor safe. Safe is what these patients need in this tough time of their lives.
Nurse Ratched imposes discipline on her ward ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The backbone, which I thought had diminished, began to grow, soon defeating the domineering. Nurse
Ratched has the influence to control any person who looms this hospital. She has driven off other
nurses on the ward, and I presume the only reason I could say I am still on hand is I do all that I am
told, and I think it is time to adjust the schedule.
I have been around this damned hospital for twenty years. Twenty years is a long time, almost twice
my age. I have missed what many men would consider prime years, when personal drama of the
thirties and fourties go away and a man can start building a life of success, if he was smart and hard
working. I am smart and hard working. Not to say that I have been robbed of my time to shine but I
haven t exactly lived the life I would have anticipated. I won t be missed on this ward. I have spent
most of my time disciplined by someone who works for me. Think about that. And for what
inconvenience, purely to deliberately drive me off this ward. You may say Nurse Ratched treats me as
if I am another patient, weak and vulnerable. The world is divided into the weak and the strong. In this
hospital, all patients and staff are rabbits and Nurse Ratched is the wolf, waiting for her next prey to
play into her manipulative games and turn on each other.
I cannot let this go on any longer. I need to show I have control of this ward and not let

Essay On Locavores
Imagining a community in 2020 where the majority of the population were Locavores is quite difficult
due to the fact that modern society has expanded and is continuing to grow all the time. Locavores are
people who only eat food within a 100 mile radius.(source g) The idea of being a locavore is new but
slightly unnecessary due to the era of production our society lives on today. Foods shipped from far
places may be lacking the nutrients that any other fruit or vegetable grown in a farm closer would
have. (source B) But the nutritional differences are marginal , it s not much of a difference, not enough
to affect a person s health anyways. Considering the fast paced societies growing today in America,
relying on the high demand farmers would have to meet, can slow down the community s economic
growth speed. In 2020 the society will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Buying locally supports an area s farmers and, in turn, strengthens the community .(source C)
However, the localization of foods would have a negative effect on farmers who rely on Americans by
reducing demand. The decrease in business for these farmers will cause less crops to be made because,
if 90 percent of your products is no longer being bought, then you re losing money if you make any
more than 10 percent. Another thing food localization will cause is local businesses outside of these
communities, like farmers markets to foreclose, because farmers will be forced to look for different
work. If all the farmers in New Zealand are focusing on supplying the US than no one is focused on
what percent of foods stay locally in New Zealand. Therefore a major movement towards being a
locavore could have a big, negative effect on major food production across the country. Many jobs
will be lost, many families will be homeless, and many families will split

Drug Law
1) An explanation will be made of the current legislation relating to the sale and possession of illicit
drugs. A discussion will then be carried out incorporating two of the moral issues associated with these
activities. Firstly, to what extent the laws relating to illicit drug use should promote good moral
behaviour and discourage immoral or harmful behaviour. Secondly, whether an individual should have
the liberty of choice to partake in drug related activities.
The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (MoDA) governs the sale and possession of illicit drugs in the United
Kingdom. This legislation was implemented following the signing of the Single Convention on
Narcotic Drugs 1961. The convention was established by the United Nations (UN) with the intention
to restrict the number of drug related offences. The MoDA 1971 classifies the offences on possession
and supply of drugs. The classification system places ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, could placing legal restrictions on the choice of engaging in such activities be seen as
an infringement of this liberty. Furthermore, to what extent should the law control an individual s
personal choice? These questions raise a similar response to what was established in the Hart Devlin
debate, which is, a principle of the law is to prevent harm arising to others. For that reason, it could be
argued that provided an individual s actions do not evoke harm on others, their choices should remain
without legal interference. However, the law principally endeavours to protect individuals from
harming others. The law can therefore justify limiting liberty of choice and individual freedom,
provided their actions would result in evoking harm to others. Cited OU (2016a 2). What often gets
forgotten is the indirect effect drug use has on families and other individuals

  • 2. Conflict Within American Civil Society And The Jcpoa in countering better funded opponents emerged in the context of this convergence of dissimilar interests. Synthesis: Conflict within American Civil Society and the JCPOA The above potently demonstrates the degree to which civil societal mobilization can serve to privilege diplomacy over war in the context of even the most long running and intransigent instances of conflict. Indeed, and in examining the civil societal contributions to the JCPOA discussed above, it is first critical to recognize that pro JCPOA forces, at both the grassroots and grasstops levels, succeeded in defeating one of the most powerful lobbies in American politics in the form of AIPAC. Given this reality, the triumph of diplomacy over war that was embodied by the JCPOA, at a time when a propitious moment for negotiations with Iran had been reached due to changes in both the Iranian and American diplomatic landscapes, is one in which civil societal mobilization played a very significant role. Tangibly then, the success of the deal demonstrates the degree to which ordinary citizens can influence the highest levels of diplomacy when optimally organized and supported. Indeed, and in this context, one of the most interesting elements of this civil societal mobilization, considering the degree to which grasstops and grassroots interaction was critical to it, was the manner by which a relationship between civil society, traditional interest groups and supportive members of the Congress was developed through ... • 3. The Movement Of The Middle East Some examples of prominent ex Nazi members who escaped to the middle east are as follows. Franz Rademacher was a Nazi aide under Secretary of state Luther. Rademacher fled to Spain and then Damascus, Syria where he worked in foreign trade. Walter Rauff was responsible for the development of mobile gas vans. Fled to Damascus in 1947, and worked over 47 ex Nazis to reorganize Syrian intelligence. A third example is Alois Brunner. Brunner was Eichmann s right hand man and was responsible for the deportation and death of 100,000 European Jew s. After being sentenced to death by a French tribunal, Brunner escaped to Egypt, and then on the advice of Al Husaini went to Syria, where he worked for Syrian intelligence. Brunner lives to this day in Syria, under the protection of around the clock Syrian body guards. The reason that the Arab state protected ex Nazi war criminals was because of a desire to rebuild the radical Islamist movement that Al Husaini and his associates had created prior to the war. These Nazis became the basis of this radical Arab movement that dominates the Muslim groups of today. In contrast to Germany, Middle eastern Moderate leaders in opposition to Al Husaini and the axis powers were driven from public life. characterized as both failures and collaborators with imperialism, The Arab state was cleansing itself of moderate populations, and in this way, it became, even more radicalized. Homelessness And Homeless Veterans Introduction In 2009, President Barack Obama and VA Secretary Eric Shinseki, set out to eliminate veteran homelessness within a six year time frame (National Alliance to End Homelessness, 2015). While they may not have succeeded in eliminating veteran homelessness by 2015, their plan has certainly set things in motion. In January 2015 there were a reported 47,725 homeless veterans in the United States. This is a four percent decrease from 2014 (The State of Homelessness In America, 2016). • 5. Compare And Contrast Alternative Family And Nuclear Family The nuclear family vs. alternative family structure Initially a picture of a nuclear family would best describe a so called family but today alternative family structure is increasing because of the changing nature of families. This is due to things such as technology, changing structure of families e.g. women entering workplace and divorce rate that cause s initial structure to be broken down as people live as they please. In this essay nuclear family structure verses the alternative family structure will be discussed through sociological imagination. • 6. Harley Davidson And The Motorcycle Industry History: Foundation: It all started in Milwaukee, Winsconsin in 1903 when William Harley, Walter and Arthur Davidson created their first Harley Davidson in their family building. Harley Davidson and the motorcycle industry wasn t a big company until after the Second World War. Many people rode motorcycles during the war, with Harley Davidson themselves becoming the major supplier not only for the U.S. military but other allied forces as well during this time. Many veterans chose to purchase motorcycles upon returning home, as they enjoyed riding during the war and wanted to continue riding in their civilian life. This generation quickly became the main target audience for many of Harley Davidson s marketing efforts and main target for buyers as by 1956, Indian Motorcycles declared bankruptcy and stopped producing motorcycles altogether, leaving only Harley as a major producer and seller of motorcycles. The central focus of this essay is to understand the common process of appointing the Prime Minister, interpreting how Theresa May was selected and to comprehend as to whether or not this process was fair. Traditionally, the leader of the political party that can control a majority in the House of Commons, shall be appointed Prime Minister. When a Prime Minister resigns, he or she advises the Queen , however this is only a suggestion, she isn t obliged. This is a rather inadequate factor as the Monarch has Royal Prerogative , a privilege of entitlement in appointing whoever she wishes to fulfil this role. As Harold Nicolson wrote in 1952 When the head of a Government resigns, or is defeated in Parliament , the choice of his successor devolves upon the King alone . Although the Queen can lawfully select anybody she wishes, this is overruled by constitutional conventions, a set of rules which guide her in this process. On June 23rd,2016 the results of the referendum called by David Cameron, changed the political landscape of England. David Cameron, former Prime Minister led the campaign to remain during the referendum, however he was unsuccessful and an incumbent Prime Minister. • 9. Siddhartha Lessons Lessons are best learned through experience. This holds true in Hermann Hesse s Novel Siddhartha. On his path to enlightenment, Siddhartha experiences many different circumstances that shape the way he becomes by the end of the novel. He encounters trials and tribulations, such as affection, self exploration, and sadness, much like I have. Through these experiences, both Siddhartha and I were not only guaranteed knowledge of our situations, but eternal wisdom through our experiences. Siddhartha ignores the ways of other spiritual groups, and goes on his own path, and I break away from mean spirited people. In part one, Siddhartha decides after trying the way of the Samanas, that it is not for him, and Govinda follows. In this quote, Siddhartha explains to Govinda, that although Govinda believes that the samanas will help them attain wisdom and enlightenment, he has noticed that all of them are old and frail, even unhappy. He has lived for sixty years and has not reached the nirvana. He ll turn seventy and eighty, and you and me, we will grow just as old and will do our exercises, and will fast, and will meditate. But we will not reach the nirvana, he won t and we won t. (Hesse 20). • 10. Persuasive Essay On Black Hate In the same way, the Spelman College administration, faculty, and students that disregard the West End community that surrounds the college only contribute to the erosion of our community and our people. Although this is not a language of hate, it is a clear display of indifference which communicates the same thing. Choosing to disregard the homeless, pay little attention to the gentrification that is rampantly kicking our people out of our community, or ignore ways to provide opportunities or exposure to the high school students in our own back yard; are we truly activating black love as political resistance or are we ignoring the needs of the people that are around us every day? We need to realize that there are two vehicles that drive the future of the black community: one of black love and one of black hate. Realize that, although society drives black hate we can be passengers in that car. We can disagree and reject their ideology, all the while internalizing it. Even though we are not driving, our inability to articulate black love as fluently as we articulate black hate, allows black hate to trump black love. Therefore, in our lives, in our homes, in our communities, and on our HBCU campuses the darkness and degradation of blackness thrives by separating us from our own people and making it seem normal to demean ourselves, our race, and our people. Is this behavior not subtly mimicking those of the oppressor? Although some our actions contradict our feelings toward ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In some cases, Greek organizations and their standings at universities aid in determining ones choice for higher education. For example, some schools are known for sports, others are known for their Black Greek Letter Organizations. When it comes to fraternities and sororities in general, the topic could seem somewhat controversial due to mixed emotions and beliefs. The production overall was slightly above average. There were aspects of the musical that worked perfectly to go along with the main seed of redemption. Ideas and concepts of relationships, redemption, and continuity were successfully and less than successfully shared through this play. I will be going over how I believe The Spitfire Grill connected itself to the seed of redemption through what I saw and felt throughout the show. Waiting for the show to start was actually when the production started. While I sat in the house for the show to start, the smell of someone s coffee filled the room. I was momentarily distracted by trying to figure out who was the coffee culprit and how their cup of coffee could be so potent that I could still smell it with only five minutes until show time. As I gave up that hunt, I read the plays brochure and brought up a summary of the play on my phone. I quickly put two and two together: 1) The Spitfire Grill is a breakfast hub and 2) coffee is a breakfast staple. Voting is a topic of heated debate in the United States due to difference of opinions between the democrat and republican parties. In the United States the voting age has been reduced from twenty one years old to eighteen years old. Even though the voting age was reduced, some people have been lobbying in order to reduce the voting age to sixteen. Reducing the legal age for voting is a bad idea, because the younger generation lacks the capability of having an informed decision for voting. Although some people believed that the legal voting age should be lower than eighteen, on the other hand others believe it should be returned to twenty one. The legal voting age should be returned to twenty one because the majority of people over twenty one are more educated about politics than an eighteen year old. People who are over twenty one are not easily influenced by people s opinions and are more capable of evaluating future outcomes. The legal voting age should be returned to twenty one, because people over twenty one are more educated about politics. Like a delicate balancing act; if one side is favoured over the other it causes a rift in the already strained relationship between the minority and majority. Evidently, the justification of taking any side must be valid, according to the theories of H.L.A. Hart. In the past, Canadian law has violated the rights of minorities; however, these violations have decreased in their severity as time has passed on. The Act was amended for the first time in 1885, the amendment prohibited religious practices and traditional dances. The validity of these laws is questionable. According to H.L.A. Hart s philosophies: these measures were not valid. Laws are to protect society from exploitation and violence of the weak and vulnerable; instead children were taken out of their homes and forced into a new strange environment where they were likely abused. One of Hart s theories says that: for a law to be valid, rules should be obeyed because they make sense, not because of the fear of punishment. In these residential schools the Children were forced to dress, speak and act in a European manner they would receive harsh punishments otherwise; clearly, this is not valid. It was a serious violation of human rights for a minority group in the human population. Canada has recognized this and in 2007 a 1.9 billion dollar compensation package was put together for those who attended residential schools; a formal apology was also delivered by Stephen Harper to residential school students in 2008. • 16. The s Relationship With Abraxas Olsen goes on to ask important questions when it comes to the Templars relationship with Abraxas, such as why the Templars used the Abraxas seal and did the Order use it like Lamy suggested? And if they did use it, was it utilized by an inner secret circle of Templars? Olsen also mentions a mysterious text called the Levitikon, which is probably written in the early 1800 s which presents Jesus as an initiate of the Egyptian higher mysteries, just as Simon Magus is depicted in the Clementines. Further onward, Olsen writes (p. 123): In 1877 a German Masonic specialist named Merzdorf claimed to have found, among other Masonic manuscripts, two Latin Rules of Templars (purported to date from the 13th Century). One was the Rule for the chosen brothers, and the other for the consoled brothers. The first Rule describes the church as the Synagogue of Anti Christ, and stipulates an elect reception ceremony (involving various ritual kisses one on the male member and including readings from open verses from the Koran). The latter Rule implies strongly the Templars shared the doctrines of the Cathars, including that of the consolamentum, or mystical baptism. Still authenticity of these has yet to be determined. What is the most tantalizing of what Oslen is saying here is that there is a Medieval text from 1240 called The Book of the Baptism of Fire which was transcribed by Robert Standford, the Grand Master in England. This belief can be found in more detail within the Christian text known as the Bible. An example of this can be found in the Genesis chapter of the Bible which portrays that even the very first Humans ever to be created in God s image, named Adam and Eve, defied God despite his pre emptive warnings not too because of their natural tendency as humans to sin. Hawthorne meant for the reader to make the connection between Goodman s Wife, Faith and Goodman s faith in God for which both attempt to sway Goodman from following the path the Devil intends for him. Hawthorne in essence, portrayed Goodman as proof of the nature of evil in man by showing how easily even a young dedicated Puritan can easily be influenced by a complete stranger. This stranger was symbolically the Devil among men in this text. Hawthorne begins introducing the Devil immediately as trying to sway Goodman to follow him on a long journey. By leaving his wife, Faith to begin the journey, Goodman Brown was symbolically leaving his faith in God and entering a forsaken ground by following the Devil. The fact that Goodman Brown left with no regard for his wife Faith s warning, symbolized the lack of regard for his own faith in God and his fellow human race. This simple disregard that Goodman Brown showed was evidence of the easily persuaded ability of man to choose sin over good. This particular form of Sestina by Elizabeth Bishop takes you through one particular afternoon of a grandmother and her grandchild. Though the poem itself is ambiguous, Bishop foreshadows the grandmother s demise throughout the entirety of the poem. The five words almanac, grandmother, tears, stove, and house are used at the end of each line for the six stanzas and envoi. They are clues as to figuring out the meaning of the poem. However, they are not the only clues as symbolism is the main usage of figurative language. The speaker is assumed to be Elizabeth Bishop but even she has written the poem in a way that reflects that of an outside observer to obscure the poem even further. To start off the analysis, the setting of the entire poem is significant. Though the poem takes place in a house, the atmosphere the house is set in is also important. The month is September which is a month of fall which can be seen as a symbol for decline. It definitely insinuates that the poem is leading towards death. Line 1 has September rain falls on the house which gives the feeling of a dark and cold night with a storm on top of that. Essay On Standing Tall The book, Standing Tall: The Kevin Everett Story (Published in 2008) written by Sam Carchidi is about a former NFL player overcoming a seemingly irreversible injury during his professional career. I selected this book because it reminds me of the days when I played football in high school and how fortunate I was to be able to walk away from the sport with no severe injuries. I constantly read about the freak accidents in football that either left an athlete with a lifelong injury or sometimes even death. This book stood out to me because it is about a player who went against the odds and was able to somewhat recover from what seemed like an injury that would have left him disabled for the rest of his life. The book begins conversation about how Kevin Everett was entering his third year as a tight end and special team s player for the Buffalo Bills organization with a promising future ahead of him. This was all about to change in the season opening game for Keven against the Denver Broncos. During the opening game Kevin was making special teams tackle after a punt to put the Broncos far back into their own territory, but that tackle was about to change Kevin s life. Although, those things are very important factors to look at when considering the risk Mary took, when she accepted to birth the Messiah, the most significate risk Mary had taken was the endangerment of her own life. According to the Old Testament law, if a women failed to remain physically pure before marriage she would be brought to the door of her father s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father s house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you. And if the women was betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die. Again, Mary knew the challenges she had to face. She had nothing but a story of an angel to give to Joseph and the towns people. The possibility of Joseph and the towns people believing that Mary, a poor servant, miraculously became pregnant by the Holy Spirit is as slim as it would be now. She has driven off other nurses on the ward, and I presume the only reason I could say I am still on hand is I do all that I am told, and I think it is time to adjust the schedule. I have been around this damned hospital for twenty years. Twenty years is a long time, almost twice my age. I have missed what many men would consider prime years, when personal drama of the thirties and fourties go away and a man can start building a life of success, if he was smart and hard working. I am smart and hard working. Not to say that I have been robbed of my time to shine but I haven t exactly lived the life I would have anticipated. I won t be missed on this ward. I have spent most of my time disciplined by someone who works for me. Think about that. And for what inconvenience, purely to deliberately drive me off this ward. You may say Nurse Ratched treats me as if I am another patient, weak and vulnerable. The world is divided into the weak and the strong. In this hospital, all patients and staff are rabbits and Nurse Ratched is the wolf, waiting for her next prey to play into her manipulative games and turn on each other. I cannot let this go on any longer. I need to show I have control of this ward and not let ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Essay On Locavores Imagining a community in 2020 where the majority of the population were Locavores is quite difficult due to the fact that modern society has expanded and is continuing to grow all the time. Locavores are people who only eat food within a 100 mile radius.(source g) The idea of being a locavore is new but slightly unnecessary due to the era of production our society lives on today. Foods shipped from far places may be lacking the nutrients that any other fruit or vegetable grown in a farm closer would have. (source B) But the nutritional differences are marginal , it s not much of a difference, not enough to affect a person s health anyways. Considering the fast paced societies growing today in America, relying on the high demand farmers would have to meet, can slow down the community s economic growth speed. In 2020 the society will ... Buying locally supports an area s farmers and, in turn, strengthens the community .(source C) However, the localization of foods would have a negative effect on farmers who rely on Americans by reducing demand. The decrease in business for these farmers will cause less crops to be made because, if 90 percent of your products is no longer being bought, then you re losing money if you make any more than 10 percent. Another thing food localization will cause is local businesses outside of these communities, like farmers markets to foreclose, because farmers will be forced to look for different work. If all the farmers in New Zealand are focusing on supplying the US than no one is focused on what percent of foods stay locally in New Zealand. Therefore a major movement towards being a locavore could have a big, negative effect on major food production across the country. Many jobs will be lost, many families will be homeless, and many families will split ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Drug Law 1) An explanation will be made of the current legislation relating to the sale and possession of illicit drugs. A discussion will then be carried out incorporating two of the moral issues associated with these activities. Firstly, to what extent the laws relating to illicit drug use should promote good moral behaviour and discourage immoral or harmful behaviour. Secondly, whether an individual should have the liberty of choice to partake in drug related activities. The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (MoDA) governs the sale and possession of illicit drugs in the United Kingdom. This legislation was implemented following the signing of the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs 1961. The convention was established by the United Nations (UN) with the intention to restrict the number of drug related offences. The MoDA 1971 classifies the offences on possession and supply of drugs. The classification system places ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Consequently, could placing legal restrictions on the choice of engaging in such activities be seen as an infringement of this liberty. Furthermore, to what extent should the law control an individual s personal choice? These questions raise a similar response to what was established in the Hart Devlin debate, which is, a principle of the law is to prevent harm arising to others. For that reason, it could be argued that provided an individual s actions do not evoke harm on others, their choices should remain without legal interference. However, the law principally endeavours to protect individuals from harming others. The law can therefore justify limiting liberty of choice and individual freedom, provided their actions would result in evoking harm to others. Cited OU (2016a 2).
