My Graduation Essay
Stepping upon a simple stage was the best thing I could have ever done. Overseeing the multitude that
was there to witness my every word, every tremble, every emotion, and every heart beat, was then that
I realized that the sentiment was real. It was essentially the end of time and I could not bear to hold
back what I no intentions of doing. Cry. Tears of joy darted down my face as I walked across the stage
and received my ultimate gift. With fancy inscription, my gift was entitled Class of 2009 . I had just
graduated. Ok seniors, everyone settle down and take your seat with your name on it . The principle
conducted everyone as we prepared to get ready for our practice graduation walk. Amusement and

I could sense the stares glaring upon me as I switched positions every second in my chair. Two hours
wasted out of my life before the orator called my name. With a shamble walk, insensible arms, and a
tilted head I deliberated myself across the front of the gym and out the door. One of my classmates ran
out the door and past me with glee assuring me that she would see me on Monday, the day of our
graduation. Saturday and Sunday went by fast. Vowing that God had cut off at least twelve hours off
my weekend, Monday morning arrived. I had to be at the coliseum at nine a.m. I woke up at eight
thirty on the dot. With no essential worries and not a care in the world what I looked like, I merely
jumped out of bed and put my graduation dress, cap, and gown on. In six minutes flat I was ready to
go. I made it out my room and past the mirror wall right before I was about to leave. Looking at
myself I knew I looked unacceptable, but my mind could not lead me to care. Right before I could
make it out the door my mom vented her words of refutation. Where do you think you are going? You
did not bother to brush your hair, wash your face nor take a shower. Thinking quickly, I managed to
use time as my excuse and scampered out the door to avoid any more questions. When I arrived at the
coliseum, I was quite confused considering I did not listening to anything the principal had stated at

Gender Differences in TV
Malcolm in the Middle Television holds an important part in most of our lives. From a young age, we
spend countless hours sitting in front of a television set. Every year there are new shows created, and
our favorite shows are renewed for another season. There are numerous programs to choose from.
Television broadcasts are free, and there are also paid options for more diverse programming. We are
fortunate enough to be able to spend on average a third of our leisure time watching television all from
the comfort of our homes. Given the incredible reach that television has on our lives, we can say that
television has a significant impact on our lives. Authors, Renzetti and Curran, claim that television is a

As previously mentioned, Renzetti and Curran, make several claims about the kind of gendered
messages that we as a society receive via our favorite television shows. I selected three other claims to
see whether or not they held true for Malcolm in the Middle. The first claim is that female characters
are more likely than men to use sex or romantic charm to get what they want. Men, in contrast, are
more likely than women to use physical force. I recorded each instance of use or threat of physical
force and whether it was a man or woman who did so. Each instance of sex or romantic charm was
also recorded according to which sex used that technique. Another claim was only 28% of women are
shown on the job compared to 41% of male characters. I kept a tally of characters that were shown on
the job or made any reference to their jobs. The last claim I chose to analyze was that men on
television are rarely shown doing housework (one to three percent compared to twenty to twenty
seven percent of women). I kept a tally of each instance that a household chore was done and whether
it was a man or woman who took care of the task. The first claim that I analyzed was that women are
more likely to use charm and men are more likely to use physical force held true according to my
sample. There were three instances of using charm. Hal, the father, did so once. Lois, the mother, did
so the other two times. The second

Essay about The Slave Trade and Britain Today
The Slave Trade and Britain Today The slave trade has no relevance in Britain today
It is difficult to agree with this statement, Britain hold a wide variety of race and for them and their
ancestor s slavery was only yesterday however For the British slavery is seen as being their history.
Within this essay I will explain the differences between race and racism, I will also include the history
of the slave trade and how it came about.

socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, geographic location. Traditional or chattel slavery (slave
trade) involves the buying and selling of people, they are often abducted from their homes, inherited
or given as gifts. (O Donnell 1992)
Its only the past hundred and fifty years or so that attempts have been made to put racism on a
scientific footing, before that discriminatory practices were usually justified or condemned on
religious beliefs, whites were seen as the offspring of Adam and Eve which in tern were classed as the
advantaged. (O Donnell 1992)
The roots of racial division lie within the expansion of the European empire during the eighteenth and
nineteenth centuries, after the Second World War the British Empire expanded to the Far East which is
when the occupation of India, Pakistan and large parts of Africa along with several islands in the West
Indies took place. The exploitation of Africans (mainly West Africans) was a key factor in laying the
foundations for the future racial conflict. Slave traders were mainly from Britain, Spain, France and
Portugal; they kidnapped Africans and transported them to the southern USA where they were forced
to work on sugar, rum, tobacco and cotton plantations. (O Donnell 1992)

Invitation And Challenge Matrix Analysis
The Invitation and Challenge Matrix introduced me to the challenges that churches and Christians
have when it comes to making disciples. A study was conducted to determine what were the most
concerning issues for Christian leaders. Interestingly enough, the study found that one of the concerns
that no one wanted to talk about was how to make disciples. In pondering this questions, the author
shares from years of experience, one of the ways he and others have made disciples over twenty plus
years. Through the story of Monty, the horse trainer, the author observed a principle of invitation and
challenge. Inviting horses closer, gaining their trust but yet challenging the horse that wanted to join
the herd to adapt. This same principle

Essex County Public Library
In doing my Research Proposal, I will set guidelines to assist library patrons who do not have any
computer experience to learn the basics of using the computer. Everyone should have some kind of
technical training because the world is steadily evolving in technology. Special needs people can also
benefit from this training. Teachers who do not have the proper training for special needs students will
learn how to assist those students. Statement of the Problem One of the problems that many library
staff face is patrons enthusiastically visit the library, but they do not know how to use a computer. A

Creating a resume for a job is a major problem of a lot of individuals who do not have software
training. When I interviewed the librarian for the Essex County Public Library, this was one of the
major issues they frequently encountered. Some of their patrons who visited the library could not read
or write, but the library staff assisted them. Many people who came to the library needed to setup e
mail accounts for their job; it was a requirement. Research Question When applying my practice, I
would setup a guide with links that include a 10 step process to help students write a research paper.
The first step is having the layout for students to understand the importance of conducting research
prior to writing the paper. Students would be able to access information through tabs such as links for
books, articles, e journals and databases. My research question is: What is the proper type of training
to offer patrons who do not know how to use a computer? By doing an ethical experiment, it should
evaluate the patron s computer competencies. Participants will be informed of how the information
will be disseminated and will be informed of their right to privacy they complete and sign a complete
consent form. Thus, a statement of the phenomenon should be stated explicitly; the research should
ask specific questions to all participants equally.

My proposal to fix the NBA Draft lottery would be to remove the lottery aspect entirely, and instead
allow teams to bid on draft slots using wins. This would first require calculating the average number
of wins across all teams that miss the playoffs and split the teams into two groups: above average and
below average. Teams that are below the average would bid in once process on the first X number of
picks (X represents the number of below average teams), while the above average teams would bid in
a second process on whichever of the first fourteen picks remain. The rest of the picks would be
allocated as they currently are, to the playoff teams in order of how they did in the regular season.

certain percentage of grant funds received on seeking grants. This percentage could be based on the
number of municipalities that regularly receive grants, and would allow HUD to ensure that their

Essay On Hurricane Katrina
Abstract The observations of Hurricane Katrina are examined by several data assimilations and
forecast experiments from the Geostationary Operational Environment Satellite (GOES) rapid scan
(RS) wind observations. The satellites tracks cloud motions from a five minute images and intervals.
During the observations, operational forecast are supplemented, with the inclusion that errors are
reduced in Katrina landfall positions. From the eighty four to one hundred and twenty hour marks that
the large averages of improvements are made in Katrina s track forecast. The RS wind observations
can be used to improve the track forecast of hurricanes.
Introduction
Weather predictions continued to be a challenge when improving the forecast of tropical cyclones,
also known as a hurricane (TC). Today, the TC track for forecasts have largely improved due to the
amount of quality of observations, improved forecast models, and data assimilation procedures. To
improve analysis and forecast events, methods to identify sensitive locations of the atmosphere have
to be specially observed. Special observations are intended to improve initial conditions and merge
forecasts products.
The most common approach used in targeted observing is for an aircraft to deploy sets of ten to forty
dropsondes in the targeted regions. Satellite derived observations are also a targeted mode to improve
forecast. Advantages when using satellite observations are large numbers of observations, observe

Remarque s The Trenches On The Front Lines From The...
The realism, grisly detail, and irony Remarque injects his story of WWII in the trenches on the front
lines from the German perspective somehow remains poetic because of his lyrical writing style.
Nineteenth century society was not ready for Remarque s new language of war. Until this novel
society held the illusion of war as both glorious and romantic. The idea of such a thing traces back to
the ancient Spartans carrying forth to 19th century Europe (Traver 2002). Before Chapter One,
Remarque introduces the idea of the ensuing pages are the work of a new language about war. This
book is to be neither an accusation nor a confession, and least of all an adventure, for death is not an
adventure to those who stand face to face with it. It will try simply to tell of a generation of men who,
even though they may have escaped its shells, were destroyed by the war (Remarque Preface).
The Significance of the Epigraph
As the epigraph to the novel introduces Remarque s intention of writing the novel he dispenses with
the familiar elements of excitement and romance thus favoring a stark and entirely unsentimental read.
His language of war becomes an advocate for soldiers who meet death face to face finding war is not
an adventure. It is this message about death that Remarque succeeds in his poetic fashion expressing
his ideas engaging the reader into the crux of his message about the evil of and written in his own
language. Others wrote of the same war and soon the war to end all

The government has passed several laws and policies since the rise of the crisis that affected several
people and striped the right from innocent civilians without much success or making the problem far
worse. In 2004, under the Bush government, a fence was built to try and deter illegal immigrants and
drugs from entering the country. However, the fence was extremely ineffective and stripped many of
land rights of people living on land on the border. The fence project also caused many federal laws
and treaties to be bypassed, such as the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act and
the endangered species act. The decisive action was also proved ineffective when the government
passed a law stating that even minor drug offences must have minimum sentencing. While the
government s actions did lower the crime rate, it has affected many people s abilities to find and keep
work, housing and living arrangements and have generally lowered many non re offenders chances at

Trichotillomania Onset Pregnancy
Introduction:
Trichotillomania is characterized by recurrent episodes of hair pulling behavior leading to noticeable
loss of hair, increasing tension before hair pulling or while coping with the urge to pull out hair, taking
pleasure or a sense of relief while pulling out hair, and social, occupational, and functional
impairment1.
Trichotillomania can involve any area in the body; however, the most common areas are the scalp,
followed by the eyebrows and eyelashes in children and in adults2. The seriousness of the pulling
behavior is perceived over time, and the disease exhibits a chronic course and it is resistant to
therapy3. It has been reported that patients with trichotillomania often did not feel pain while pulling
out hair, followed a particular pattern of hair pulling, and often chose strands with unusual appearance,
and exhibit repetitive behavior such as engaging oral stimulation after hair pulling4 5. Some studies
have suggested that trichotillomania had many common features with obsessive compulsive disorder4

Altruistic And Of Altruistic Acts
Introduction In this section, I will deliver my idea on when people tend to be altruistic and who they
are prone to act on it. I make the assumption that the reason why someone would be altruistic would
be something that varies upon the individual, and the event they are altruistic, I hold it as a
multidimensional explanation in answering why. I think this because I can see all these models having
partial truth in the reality of how it is, I am sure that one person might help another due to empathy,
and that another might do it so they get the attention of their possible sexual partner, etc. Every model
can be correct depending on the person, and the event. I include event rather than solely person,
because although a person might often choose to be altruistic in many events for a particular reason,
this same reason doesn t necessarily have to be the case for every event they are altruistic. However,
my topic deals with my belief that who, and when altruistic acts are likely to be executed. My
premises for this idea are that when and who people are altruistic with is something that is less fluid,
than a multidimensional theory on why altruism exists, enough so that it doesn t become an absolute
principle, but a psychological tendency. This is my rough theoretical model for a psychological
tendency in altruism that I believe to be constantly realizing.
Basic Theoretical Model It is in my belief that the idea of diffusion is applicable as an explanation or
support of a

American Reconstruction after the Civil War Essay
Reconstruction was a period of time after the Civil War (1865 1877) that was supposed to be the
rebuilding of America. It was also the process used to readmit all the Confederate states back into the
Union. There was controversy, however, on how to go about rebuilding the nation. Abraham Lincoln
proposed a lenient plan. After he was assassinated, Andrew Johnson proposed a very similar plan. The
Radical Republicans, a group of legislators that were in favor of freedmen s rights, were opposed to
both plans under Presidential Reconstruction . They initiated Congressional Reconstruction . Because
of the conflicting views, there was little cooperation between the Executive and Legislative branches.

Johnson stated that the seven remaining states would be admitted if: they withdrew its secession,
swore allegiance to Union, anul Confederate was debts, and ratify the 13th Amendment, which
abolished slavery. The only main difference being that Johnson did not want high ranking
Confederates and wealthy Southern landowners to take the oath needed to vote. The Radical
Republicans were infuriated by Johnson s Plan because it failed to effectively help former slaves.
They wanted a plan stricter on the punishment of the Southerners, and one that addressed the land,
voting, and protection under the law of slaves. This is why when Johnson pardoned all Southerners the
Radicals refused to admit the Southern representatives back into Congress. The Radical Republicans,
and the rest of Congress, were the ones who passed most of the bills for Reconstruction, because of
their ability to override the president with their majority. They expanded the Freedmen s Bureau,
which did show some progress in the helping of former slaves and poor white men. The Freedmen s
Bureau set up hospitals, schools, and also gave out supplies. This achieved the enablement of former
slaves having the right to free education. Later on, however, the Freedmen s Bureau became
neglected, and was often forgotten or overlooked. The Freedmen s Bureau is accurately described in

Tma05, Introduction to a de100 project on the likeness of a logo A fictitious educational experiment

This validates the position that evaluative conditioning mechanisms can endorse positive attitudes
(The Open University).
Evaluative conditioning operative comes from Brace who had suggested that people make
associations either positively or negatively when they are transferred. An interesting example is used
by Brace who explains that people take a dislike to other people s names, it is suggested that this is
caused by a like or dislike to a particular name and it therefore becomes associated to a certain person.
This can then affect an individual s behaviour and attitude without being aware of it.
Chen et al verified this by sharing similarities with findings to those that were found by the DE100
module team. Chen et al was interested in whether or not the findings would differ when pairing the
sporting event with a sporting celebrity compared to a non sporting celebrity would make a difference
in participant s attitudes. The participants who were in the experimental condition with a celebrity who
had viewed the slides had developed a positive attitude than those in the control condition with no
celebrity and sports. The method used in both DE100 module team s and the Chen s study were
straightforward this therefore shows a strength and it now means that any future replications can be
conducted with ease. The participants who took part were known to the experimenter may

about segmenting the image into various segments using various techniques. In early days a semi

semiautomatic methods were not very successful as they had human induced errors and were time

Extra-Legal Institutions Case Study
Due to the unlawful nature of their activities, criminals are not able to turn to the state when they
require help in enforcing contracts or to provide them with security. Instead, they have developed a
complex system of extra legal institutions, including written constitutions and a formal separation of
powers. Due to most aspects of our lives being governed by the process of competition, and the
demand for illicit goods being consistently high, it is my contention that extra legal institutions do
present an efficient solution to the problems faced by self enforced exchanges. I will explain this
position, firstly, by examining the governing institutions of the Nuestra Familia Californian prison
gang. Secondly, I will look at the institutions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are aware of one another s social standing and know who their friends are. Fear of being deemed
an outcast amongst a tightly knit group of convicts encourages the inmates to avoid conflict where
possible. When they wish to purchase illicit goods, the only place they are able to turn is to fellow
inmate entrepreneurs. If one was to take advantage in this exchange, it would quickly be prison wide
knowledge and the perpetrator would would be ostracised or assaulted. Fear of becoming an outlaw
amongst other outlaws incentivises good behaviour and cooperation and as a result of this, the prison
economy flourishes. However, since the 1950 s, it has been difficult to find a prison which is not
densely populated. It is increasingly difficult for inmates to keep track of other prisoners and, in such a
large group, ostracism is no longer a feasible punishment device and so prisoners began to organise
themselves into gangs.
La Nuestra Familia formed in the mid 1960 s as a response to the violence and oppressive actions of

Mormonism is a cult, mostly because of the very different theology between The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter day Saints and biblical teachings. Mormonism holds authority to The Book of
Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price, and parts of the Bible that do not
contradict Mormon doctrine (Cultwatch.com).
So, whether is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints is by definition a cult or not, there is
some major differences between Mormon theology and biblical teaching. One of the biggest and very
different beliefs of Christian and Mormon is faith is God and human beings becoming gods. This
paper will explore the Mormon belief of exaltation and God.
History of Joseph Smith and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints:
Joseph Smith Jr., born to Joseph and Lacy Mack Smith, started The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter

The Wal-Mart Case
The week one study is about a case that was considered one of the largest lawsuits in United States
History. The United States Supreme Court had to come to a decision on a class act lawsuit between
1,000,000 female Wal Mart employees and their greatly established employer. The discrimination suit
mainly focused on the lack of promotions amongst the plaintiffs and the unequal pay received
compared to their male colleagues. Unfortunately, in this case, despite the statistics generally
exploiting the difference in compensation and advancement amongst the two sexes fell in favor of the
retail giant. The decision was made mainly on plaintiffs lack of ability to demonstrate the
discrimination that each individual encountered while employed with the large retailer. This reflective
paper will look further into the court process, the opinions of a Supreme Court Judge, and the
jurisdiction of the federal court.
During the reading of the Textbook, The Legal Environment of Business, 7th edition , it was
discovered that the U.S. Supreme Court heard this case by it initially being decided by a lower court.
The plaintiff party then displeased with the decision filed a writ of certiorari, which asks for the U.S
Supreme Court to view their records. There are then at least four reasons for the U.S Supreme Court to
decide to select the case: the case has to present ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Anterior Cruciate Ligar Research Paper
Mrs. Bacon
English 1301
29 October 2015
Anterior Cruciate Ligament Tears Injuries occur everyday is the sport s world; they range anywhere
from a sprained ankle to paralysis. In many sports, such as volleyball or basketball, the injuries that
occur usually happen to the lower half of the body. Over the years, certain injuries have become more
common, such as ACL injuries. A torn ACL is not only one of the most common seen injuries in the
sports world, but it is also very easy to diagnose; however, it is a long road back to recovery. Out of
the many ligaments, muscles, and tendons in the knee, the ACL is the most common to injure. The
ACL, or anterior cruciate ligament, is a vital ligamentous stabilizer of the knee that resists anterior ...

The next step, if one chooses, is surgery and recovery. To repair the ligament, most surgeons will take
part of another tendon, which has similar tissue to a ligament, in the leg and pull it through a tunnel
that is drilled through the tibia into the femur ( ACL Tears and Reconstruction ). After surgery, a
patient usually begins physical therapy three to four days after the procedure. Physical therapy helps
strengthen the muscles, tendons, and ligaments in the knee that were affected by the accident. In order
to get back to normal as soon as possible, a patient needs to attend physical therapy two or three times
a week for about ten weeks. After that time is up, depending on the progress of the patient, the
therapist will reduce the appointments to once a week. As the patient continues to strengthen and
progress, he or she will be allowed to start performing more advanced things. For example, most
patients will have to start doing ten minute jogs to gradually get the knee used to impact again. A full
recovery usually takes about six or seven months, for athletes coming back to sports. This process of
time may be lengthened depending on the patient. Athletes who try to return early are at an extremely
high risk of tearing the ACL again. Full recovery for an athlete can include, being able to play with
contact or jump and dive. Although a patient is released to play his or her sport again, that does not
mean the patients knee is completely back to normal again. For instance, the athlete will need to a
wear a knee brace for any type of physical activity for at least a year after returning back to

International Hospitality Industry Has Been Affected By...
Introduction In the past few years, international hospitality industry has been affected by globalisation,
revolution of information technology, fragmentation of customer demand, and the emergence of
economic integration of supplier in the networks. Globalisation means a process to reduce the barriers
between one country to another (Brotherthon, 2003). Hence, it is a critical issue in the industry where
the essence of the product is international and the encounter with the customer is intercultural. The
hospitality industry has often been called as people business (Downling et al., 2008). Therefore,
Human Resource Management (HRM) plays a crucial role in the industry as it understands the human
aspects on the organisation. HRM deals with people in the organisation how to manage their
behaviour and activities in order to increase the organisation s profit. It has the function in the
organisation to focus on recruiting the management and providing directions for the people in the
organisations. Moreover, it deals with issues related to people, such as performance management,
hiring, wellness, benefit, safety, compensation, training, and communication (Hayes Ninemeler, 2009).
HRM is one of the phenomenon which has property to change under globalisation effect. It is both and
academic theory and business practice. From the HRM perspective, an international hospitality
industry is a caricature, where in reality derived from the local management structures,

Stv Almrausch Research Paper
STV Almrausch
The group I have set out to learn more about is a club based in Dallas that is called STV Almrausch.
They are a non political, non for profit Bavarian/Austrian Dance club that both teaches and preserves
the traditions of Germany. I met them while at the Oktoberfest in Addison this year, and not knowing a
club like this even existed in the United States I was intrigued by why people with no German links or
even ancestry would want to join and spend most weekends promoting a culture that they don t even
have. I lived in Bavaria for many years even going to high school there so I knew about these groups
in Germany and what they did even having friends that were part of these groups. Although I saw
them perform at festivals the interworking of the clubs are completely strange to me. In my research I
would not only want to learn about what the group in Dallas does ,but also have input from groups in
Germany, and just by coincidence the group in Dallas has a sponsor group in Germany very close to
where I lived.
I would like to discover how and if the group has Americanized some aspects to make them more
appealing to American audiences, furthermore get to understand the significance of the costumes,

Medical Malpractice
Medical Malpractice
The doctor patient relationship has been defined differently through the years. In the beginning it
developed into a common calling which meant doctors practiced medicine as a duty to their patients.
Laws were developed to protect patients, therefore doctors used proper care and expert skill. In the
past six centuries, medical malpractice has increased, which lead to revision and addition to the law.
Liability was introduced along with the GIANT of all torts , negligence. Now in today s society, a
doctor s duty is to use reasonable care, skill and judgment in the practice of his/her profession and
when negligent, take full responsibility. What is malpractice? Malpractice is negligence. Negligence ...

In cases like these the doctor is incredibly egotistical and is playing God.
Physicians
who ignore patient requests or fail to ask for consent only build communication barriers and ruin the
profession s reputation. Many people believe doctors are the real victims. They feel doctors are
confined from performing and medical students limit career options in fear of being sued. There are
some illegitimate and ungrateful citizens who insist on filing suits when doctors are not at fault. When
a family member dies, the loss may cause anger and looking for a doctor to sue seems like the right
thing to do. It is human nature to always look for a party at fault in any tragedy. Doctors fears of
malpractice awards also result in bad medical care. New procedures carry a higher risk of harm and
second guessing later, so doctors stick to conventional treatments, even in terminal cases, for fear the
treatment may hasten the patient s death. The opposite is also true, both overtesting and overtreating
are standard methods of beating malpractice suits. Thousands of unneeded surgeries are performed
each year. Expensive technology is regularly misused – CAT scans to diagnose simple headaches, for
example. Also, the few plaintiff s who win unrealistically high awards raise insurance costs for all
doctors. (Nolo Press editors, # 32) In fact, the Canadian Medical Protective
Association has announced a 20 % increase in premiums for

Analysis Of The Book The Tour
Well, here we are, he said at last.
Yuki was afraid. Afraid of what might happen if her frail limbs couldn t drag her deadweight body

direction of a boy, she heard a shout from ahead of her. They had finally arrived. Where exactly, Yuki

Their tour guide eventually led them to a large building covered in rough looking black tarpaper. Yuki
then realized they had finally arrived at Barrack 2, where she and her family and close friends would
be living for the rest of their lives. Yuki was hoping it was more colorful on the inside than it was on
the outside. But at that moment, she didn t care. The sun was beating down on them, dust was drifting
into her respiratory system, causing her to cough constantly, and she was parched. Shriveled as she
was, she felt as though her skin could be peeled from the bone. They all walked through the huge door
on the side of the building. The feel of air conditioning made everyone there sigh with relief and
ignore the fact that they entered their own living hell. The push of cold air was like a punch in the
face. Smells were rushing through Yuki s little nose. The scent was pungent; like mold and possibly a
dead animal.
What apartment were you all assigned to? the guide asked.

with the rising levels of globalization in the hotel industry, there s a need to understand not only the

evolution, resulting in a process called natural selection.
He developed his ideas by observing many animals on the Galapagos Islands. He noticed that certain
species in one geographical area was different from the same species in another field. At Galapagos
Island, Charles discovered evidence of animal fossils that could help him prove the theory of natural
selection. Many animals that Charles examined were; the land iguana, the marine iguana, saddle back

Overview Of A Riser System
LITEREATURE REVIEW
OVERVIEW OF A RISER SYSTEM
Conventionally a riser system as part of an offshore drilling or production system, is basically
conductor pipes connecting topside structures on the sea surface (an oil and gas floating, production
and storage facility or a drilling production structure) and subsea structures on the seabed. (Bai and
Bai).
Marine risers have been in existence from the early 1950s, they were used to drill from barges
offshore of California, United States. An important landmark happened in 1961, when drilling took
place from the dynamically positioned barge CUSS 1. Since those early days, risers have been used

Flexible Risers
In the 1960s, the Institut Français du Pétrole tried to develop a flexible drilling system with a down

in adverse weather conditions. (palmer amd king)

The Israeli Palestinian Conflict And The Northern Ireland
The Israeli Palestinian conflict and the Northern Ireland case had many similar elements in conflict
drivers and elements that gave rise to conflict; however ,the two cases also had differing salient points.
The Israelis were a diasporic community while the Ulsters in Northern Ireland were a minority group
living on their own land. The Palestinian and Israeli saw each other as more of a threat than the
unionist and nationalists saw each other in Northern Ireland. The Northern Ireland crisis did not
threaten the existence of England while the PLO had motive to destroy Israel. These were some of the
several differing factors that accounted for this variation in outcome; however the main issue was
threat and incentive. The actors in the Good Friday Agreement had more incentive, or less threat in
accepting the agreement. Actors in the Oslo negotiations believed that was more threat for Israel
Palestine to integrate. Also, there were significant gaps in goals and incentives they had. An attempt to
understand the failure of the Oslo process can be explained with a Realist lens. The Oslo agreements
are inherently Liberal agreements, focusing on collective security and the possibility of cooperation
and interdependence. However, under the Realist framing, the conditions in the Israel Palestine
context was not viable for the construction of a Liberal peace. Since in Realist terms, perceived threat

U.S. Constitution vs. Jamaican Constitution
Upon initial consideration, one would presume that the United States Constitution and the
Constitution of Jamaica would not be similar at all. After all, the United States Constitution was
ratified in 1787, whereas the Jamaican Constitution was not ratified until 1962, the year Jamaica
gained its independence. At first glance, Jamaica s constitution appears to be most similar to that of
England, because they both establish a parliament and share the same chief of state (Queen Elizabeth
II). These similarities are understandable considering the United Kingdom owned Jamaica until
Jamaica gained its independence in 1962. But if one digs deeper into Jamaica s constitution, the many

judicial branch. As is the case with the U.S. judicial branch, the Jamaican judiciary is a network of
courts, ranging from petty sessions of the Court of Appeal, to the Judicial Committee of the Privy

Causes And Treatment Of Pulmonary Edema
Abstract
Pulmonary edema can be divided into two categories, cardiogenic and non cardiogenic. Both of these
can be life threatening if not treated on time. One of the main characteristics of this disease is the
increased fluid in the interstitial spaces and alveoli in the lungs. Cardiogenic pulmonary edema as the
name implies, is cause by heart failure. The most common type of heart failure seen with cardiogenic
pulmonary edema is left ventricular failure also known as congestive heart failure (CHF). On the other
hand, non cardiogenic pulmonary edema can be caused by many factors including high altitudes,
drugs, inhaled toxins, etc. When a patient has pulmonary edema, some common signs and symptoms

Pulmonary edema is characterized as a restrictive pulmonary disorder. People with pulmonary edema
cannot fully fill their lungs with air due to stiffness of the lungs.
Definition
Pulmonary edema happens as a result from excessive movement of fluid from the vascular system to
the extravascular system and air spaces of the lungs.1,3 5,7,11 It is generally divided into two main
pathogenetic types which are hydrostatic (commonly cardiogenic) and permeability edema, also
termed normal pressure noncardiogenic.1 3,5,7 8,11Cardiogenic pulmonary edema is caused by
increased pressures in the heart. This condition occurs when the left ventricle is not able get out
enough of the blood it receives from the lungs (congestive heart failure).1,3,5 7 However,
Noncardiogenic, as the name implies, is not caused by the heart. In this condition, fluid may leak from
the capillaries in your lungs air sacs because the capillaries become more penetrable or leaky, even
without the increased pressure that is built from your heart.1,3 5,7 8,11
Etiology Heart failure can be caused by many different types of problems in the heart.1 3,5,7 8,11 We
all know that the heart itself is responsible for the movement of fluids in the body. And that if the heart
fails to function properly, the whole body can be affected in many ways. Heart failure may affect the
right side or the left side of the heart.1 3,7 8,11 Hydrostatic pulmonary edema is known as cardiogenic

communicate with each other about what you are experiencing individually and as a couple, and that
you allow each other the space and time to process whatever feelings you experience in response to

Elisabeth Kübler Ross identified five stages of grief: shock, denial, anger, bargaining, and acceptance.
Developmental psychologists have learned that not everyone experiences all of the stages in response
to loss, and that they can alternate, and even overlap. Overall, the goal is to accept and move through
the changeable process, not to finish grieving.
Parenting Style
Because a large part of your child s recovery will involve reassurance that his world is safe and
manageable, it will be important for you and your spouse to assess your parenting styles. Diana
Baumrind, in her classic work, identifies three different parenting styles: Authoritarian, Permissive,
and Authoritative. Authoritarian parents take the reins of control fully, and adhere to strict rules and
expectations for their children.

Stereotypes In The Film The Breakfast Club
Introduction John Hughes masterfully captures the shades of adolescent stereotypes and interactions,
the culture clash between adolescents and adults, and the role that parents play in modeling the high
school experience of each adolescent. The Breakfast Club follows five different teenagers throughout
the course of a day as they are forced to endure detention on a Saturday. Each character symbolizes a
classic adolescent prototype: the athlete, the basket case, the brain, the criminal, and the princess. At
first, the adolescents separate themselves and make judgments and assumptions about each other
based on the stereotype they each characterize. As the film develops, the characters start to move past
these stereotypes to recognize they have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He expresses an insecure attachment with his parents. This attachment happens when children have
parents that they most likely do not feel safe or protected around. It is frequently linked with families
of abuse. The difficulties that Bender faces can greatly affect his developmental styles. Bender
represents partial development in most areas. In terms of intellectual development, the illogical
behavior demonstrated at times to authority figures represent an incomplete growth. According to
Kohlberg s stages of moral development, Bender represents the second stage. He threatened to kill
Andrew during a dispute showing that he does not view human life as important. Stage two is self
interest driven. It expresses the what s in it for me position, in which right behavior is defined by
whatever the individual believes to be in their best interest but understood in a narrow way which does
not consider one s reputation or relationships to groups of people. Stage two reasoning shows a limited
interest in the needs of others, but only to a point where it might further the individual s own interests.
Freud created the Psychoanalytic theory, which consists of the psychosexual stages. If any stage is
comprised, a fixation could occur, for example Bender s smoking habit. Freud confers that the Id,
Superego, and Ego affect our decision making skills with the conscious, unconscious, and
preconscious. Bender thinks mostly from his id which explains why he gets into a lot of

  • 2. My Graduation Essay Stepping upon a simple stage was the best thing I could have ever done. Overseeing the multitude that was there to witness my every word, every tremble, every emotion, and every heart beat, was then that I realized that the sentiment was real. It was essentially the end of time and I could not bear to hold back what I no intentions of doing. Cry. Tears of joy darted down my face as I walked across the stage and received my ultimate gift. With fancy inscription, my gift was entitled Class of 2009 . I had just graduated. Ok seniors, everyone settle down and take your seat with your name on it . The principle conducted everyone as we prepared to get ready for our practice graduation walk. Amusement and volume suffocated the gym as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I could sense the stares glaring upon me as I switched positions every second in my chair. Two hours wasted out of my life before the orator called my name. With a shamble walk, insensible arms, and a tilted head I deliberated myself across the front of the gym and out the door. One of my classmates ran out the door and past me with glee assuring me that she would see me on Monday, the day of our graduation. Saturday and Sunday went by fast. Vowing that God had cut off at least twelve hours off my weekend, Monday morning arrived. I had to be at the coliseum at nine a.m. I woke up at eight thirty on the dot. With no essential worries and not a care in the world what I looked like, I merely jumped out of bed and put my graduation dress, cap, and gown on. In six minutes flat I was ready to go. I made it out my room and past the mirror wall right before I was about to leave. Looking at myself I knew I looked unacceptable, but my mind could not lead me to care. Right before I could make it out the door my mom vented her words of refutation. Where do you think you are going? You did not bother to brush your hair, wash your face nor take a shower. Thinking quickly, I managed to use time as my excuse and scampered out the door to avoid any more questions. Every year there are new shows created, and our favorite shows are renewed for another season. There are numerous programs to choose from. Television broadcasts are free, and there are also paid options for more diverse programming. We are fortunate enough to be able to spend on average a third of our leisure time watching television all from the comfort of our homes. Given the incredible reach that television has on our lives, we can say that television has a significant impact on our lives. As previously mentioned, Renzetti and Curran, make several claims about the kind of gendered messages that we as a society receive via our favorite television shows. I selected three other claims to see whether or not they held true for Malcolm in the Middle. The first claim is that female characters are more likely than men to use sex or romantic charm to get what they want. Men, in contrast, are more likely than women to use physical force. I recorded each instance of use or threat of physical force and whether it was a man or woman who did so. Each instance of sex or romantic charm was also recorded according to which sex used that technique. Another claim was only 28% of women are shown on the job compared to 41% of male characters. I kept a tally of characters that were shown on the job or made any reference to their jobs. The last claim I chose to analyze was that men on television are rarely shown doing housework (one to three percent compared to twenty to twenty seven percent of women). I kept a tally of each instance that a household chore was done and whether it was a man or woman who took care of the task. The first claim that I analyzed was that women are more likely to use charm and men are more likely to use physical force held true according to my sample. There were three instances of using charm. The exploitation of Africans (mainly West Africans) was a key factor in laying the foundations for the future racial conflict. A study was conducted to determine what were the most concerning issues for Christian leaders. Interestingly enough, the study found that one of the concerns that no one wanted to talk about was how to make disciples. In pondering this questions, the author shares from years of experience, one of the ways he and others have made disciples over twenty plus years. Everyone should have some kind of technical training because the world is steadily evolving in technology. Special needs people can also benefit from this training. Teachers who do not have the proper training for special needs students will learn how to assist those students. Some of their patrons who visited the library could not read or write, but the library staff assisted them. Many people who came to the library needed to setup e mail accounts for their job; it was a requirement. Research Question When applying my practice, I would setup a guide with links that include a 10 step process to help students write a research paper. The first step is having the layout for students to understand the importance of conducting research prior to writing the paper. Students would be able to access information through tabs such as links for books, articles, e journals and databases. My research question is: What is the proper type of training to offer patrons who do not know how to use a computer? By doing an ethical experiment, it should evaluate the patron s computer competencies. Participants will be informed of how the information will be disseminated and will be informed of their right to privacy they complete and sign a complete consent form. Today, the TC track for forecasts have largely improved due to the amount of quality of observations, improved forecast models, and data assimilation procedures. To improve analysis and forecast events, methods to identify sensitive locations of the atmosphere have to be specially observed. The realism, grisly detail, and irony Remarque injects his story of WWII in the trenches on the front lines from the German perspective somehow remains poetic because of his lyrical writing style. Nineteenth century society was not ready for Remarque s new language of war. Until this novel society held the illusion of war as both glorious and romantic. The idea of such a thing traces back to the ancient Spartans carrying forth to 19th century Europe (Traver 2002). Before Chapter One, Remarque introduces the idea of the ensuing pages are the work of a new language about war. This book is to be neither an accusation nor a confession, and least of all an adventure, for death is not an adventure to those who stand face to face with it. It will try simply to tell of a generation of men who, even though they may have escaped its shells, were destroyed by the war (Remarque Preface). The Significance of the Epigraph As the epigraph to the novel introduces Remarque s intention of writing the novel he dispenses with the familiar elements of excitement and romance thus favoring a stark and entirely unsentimental read. His language of war becomes an advocate for soldiers who meet death face to face finding war is not an adventure. It is this message about death that Remarque succeeds in his poetic fashion expressing his ideas engaging the reader into the crux of his message about the evil of and written in his own language. Trichotillomania can involve any area in the body; however, the most common areas are the scalp, followed by the eyebrows and eyelashes in children and in adults2. The seriousness of the pulling behavior is perceived over time, and the disease exhibits a chronic course and it is resistant to therapy3. It has been reported that patients with trichotillomania often did not feel pain while pulling out hair, followed a particular pattern of hair pulling, and often chose strands with unusual appearance, and exhibit repetitive behavior such as engaging oral stimulation after hair pulling4 5. • 14. Altruistic And Of Altruistic Acts Introduction In this section, I will deliver my idea on when people tend to be altruistic and who they are prone to act on it. I make the assumption that the reason why someone would be altruistic would be something that varies upon the individual, and the event they are altruistic, I hold it as a multidimensional explanation in answering why. I think this because I can see all these models having partial truth in the reality of how it is, I am sure that one person might help another due to empathy, and that another might do it so they get the attention of their possible sexual partner, etc. Every model can be correct depending on the person, and the event. I include event rather than solely person, because although a person might often choose to be altruistic in many events for a particular reason, this same reason doesn t necessarily have to be the case for every event they are altruistic. However, my topic deals with my belief that who, and when altruistic acts are likely to be executed. My premises for this idea are that when and who people are altruistic with is something that is less fluid, than a multidimensional theory on why altruism exists, enough so that it doesn t become an absolute principle, but a psychological tendency. This is my rough theoretical model for a psychological tendency in altruism that I believe to be constantly realizing. It was also the process used to readmit all the Confederate states back into the Union. There was controversy, however, on how to go about rebuilding the nation. Abraham Lincoln proposed a lenient plan. After he was assassinated, Andrew Johnson proposed a very similar plan. The Radical Republicans were infuriated by Johnson s Plan because it failed to effectively help former slaves. They wanted a plan stricter on the punishment of the Southerners, and one that addressed the land, voting, and protection under the law of slaves. This is why when Johnson pardoned all Southerners the Radicals refused to admit the Southern representatives back into Congress. The Radical Republicans, and the rest of Congress, were the ones who passed most of the bills for Reconstruction, because of their ability to override the president with their majority. They expanded the Freedmen s Bureau, which did show some progress in the helping of former slaves and poor white men. The Freedmen s Bureau set up hospitals, schools, and also gave out supplies. This achieved the enablement of former slaves having the right to free education. Later on, however, the Freedmen s Bureau became neglected, and was often forgotten or overlooked. This can then affect an individual s behaviour and attitude without being aware of it. Due to most aspects of our lives being governed by the process of competition, and the demand for illicit goods being consistently high, it is my contention that extra legal institutions do present an efficient solution to the problems faced by self enforced exchanges. It is increasingly difficult for inmates to keep track of other prisoners and, in such a large group, ostracism is no longer a feasible punishment device and so prisoners began to organise themselves into gangs. The United States Supreme Court had to come to a decision on a class act lawsuit between 1,000,000 female Wal Mart employees and their greatly established employer. The discrimination suit mainly focused on the lack of promotions amongst the plaintiffs and the unequal pay received compared to their male colleagues. After surgery, a patient usually begins physical therapy three to four days after the procedure. Physical therapy helps strengthen the muscles, tendons, and ligaments in the knee that were affected by the accident. In order to get back to normal as soon as possible, a patient needs to attend physical therapy two or three times a week for about ten weeks. After that time is up, depending on the progress of the patient, the therapist will reduce the appointments to once a week. As the patient continues to strengthen and progress, he or she will be allowed to start performing more advanced things. Introduction In the past few years, international hospitality industry has been affected by globalisation, revolution of information technology, fragmentation of customer demand, and the emergence of economic integration of supplier in the networks. Globalisation means a process to reduce the barriers between one country to another (Brotherthon, 2003). Hence, it is a critical issue in the industry where the essence of the product is international and the encounter with the customer is intercultural. The hospitality industry has often been called as people business (Downling et al., 2008). • 36. The Israeli Palestinian Conflict And The Northern Ireland The Israeli Palestinian conflict and the Northern Ireland case had many similar elements in conflict drivers and elements that gave rise to conflict; however ,the two cases also had differing salient points. The Israelis were a diasporic community while the Ulsters in Northern Ireland were a minority group living on their own land. The Palestinian and Israeli saw each other as more of a threat than the unionist and nationalists saw each other in Northern Ireland. The Northern Ireland crisis did not threaten the existence of England while the PLO had motive to destroy Israel. These were some of the several differing factors that accounted for this variation in outcome; however the main issue was threat and incentive. The actors in the Good Friday Agreement had more incentive, or less threat in accepting the agreement. Actors in the Oslo negotiations believed that was more threat for Israel Palestine to integrate. Also, there were significant gaps in goals and incentives they had. An attempt to understand the failure of the Oslo process can be explained with a Realist lens. The Oslo agreements are inherently Liberal agreements, focusing on collective security and the possibility of cooperation and interdependence. However, under the Realist framing, the conditions in the Israel Palestine context was not viable for the construction of a Liberal peace. After all, the United States Constitution was ratified in 1787, whereas the Jamaican Constitution was not ratified until 1962, the year Jamaica gained its independence. At first glance, Jamaica s constitution appears to be most similar to that of England, because they both establish a parliament and share the same chief of state (Queen Elizabeth II). Some parents may experience a sort of kicked in the gut feeling, others may be sad and withdrawn, and still others, angry with themselves, the child, the situation, or God. In fact, theory and research on the grieving process indicate that parents may have any or all of these reactions, and may alternate between emotional states. Regarding your marriage, the most important factor is that you are able to communicate with each other about what you are experiencing individually and as a couple, and that you allow each other the space and time to process whatever feelings you experience in response to your child s condition. Fact Elisabeth Kübler Ross identified five stages of grief: shock, denial, anger, bargaining, and acceptance. Developmental psychologists have learned that not everyone experiences all of the stages in response to loss, and that they can alternate, and even overlap. Overall, the goal is to accept and move through the changeable process, not to finish grieving. Parenting Style Because a large part of your child s recovery will involve reassurance that his world is safe and manageable, it will be important for you and your spouse to assess your parenting styles. Diana Baumrind, in her classic work, identifies three different parenting styles: Authoritarian, Permissive, and Authoritative.
