Leading Change Essay
Leading Change | | Mike DiBenedetto | The best way to summarize this book is to dissect it into three
parts. In part one the book discusses the change problem and its solution. This part focuses on two
main topics; 1) Transforming organizations and why firms fail and 2) successful change and the force
that drives it. Part two discusses the eight stage process in transforming an organization. Finally, in
part three the book discusses the implications for the twenty first century. Identifying the change
problem can be difficult but driving solution is even more challenging. There are eight mistakes that
companies make when trying to change an organization; 1) Allowing too much complacency; 2)
Failing to create a sufficiently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They must understand their competition and how they fit into the market they are competing for.
Management must also identify low hanging fruit opportunities as it is a great way to strike quickly.
Then they must move to step two quickly in order to put the plan in action. In step two, upper
management must identify the right personnel to drive the change. These individuals must have a high
level of experience and be respected by the people on the ground level. If approached by white collar
corporate types far removed from the action, people will not feel motivated to put forth the effort
required to make the change. This group is referred to as the guiding coalition. With the team in place
it is time to develop a vision and a strategy. In step three the vision and strategy are developed. The
vision is developed with the idea of where the company needs to go in order to succeed. Management
will use the identified issues and opportunities in order to determine what actions to take. After that
the strategy is formed in order to execute the vision. Now for the hard part, communicating the change
vision. Step four is very difficult because people are resistant to change. If the change vision is not
communicated properly people will lose interest quickly. The guiding coalition must be very specific
and honest in communicating the vision. The communication must be repeated

Descriptive Essay About Eiffel Tower
Memoir
I had seen it so much on TV, in pictures, everywhere. I was now going to be able to experience it for
myself. The huge metal structure I had seen in my dreams had finally appeared in real life. Built way
before I was born, the Eiffel Tower is one of the most sought after things to see. My family and I were
four of the seven million visitors this year. It shows to, the line just to buy tickets was about an hour
long, but well worth it. We had just gotten off a bus tour that took us through the heart of Paris, we
saw old statues and monuments that had been built throughout the years. We smelled the food from
the nearby street vendors and restaurants. We saw all the shiny and sumptuous purses, and clothing
that were in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We had been looking out for about an hour and my parents said we should find a stop. My brother
yelled out, Let s go to that tower, as he pointed at the Eiffel Tower in the distance. My parents glanced
at each other for a long two seconds and said in unison, Sure! So it was decided that in about fifteen
minutes we were going to visit the Eiffel Tower. After the longest time, I heard the person announce
through the cheap maroon earbuds, This is the Eiffel Tower Stop. I leaped out of my seat very excited,
ready to go. My parents said that there was going to be a very long wait and that we would have to be
patient if we wanted to go. We waited in the security line just to enter for about thirty minutes. My
brother was already complaining, saying that he was tired and wanted to lay down. Again, my parents
said that if he really wanted to go he better stop complaining. From there the line to get tickets was a
lot longer. Although it was longer it was the better of the two lines because we all talked and had a
good time waiting. Before we knew it we were first in line and were about to get our tickets to ride the

Semiotic Analysis In Advertising
Through semiotic analysis, signifiers, myths and paradigmatic analysis an interpretation of a car
insurance ad by the VHV holding company can be made on many levels. VHV Holding, a German car
insurance company, uses sexist ideologies to sell the idea that you need insurance in case you get into
an accident while distracted by establishing women as sexualized objects and men as beings who are
reckless drivers because of constant sexual thoughts.
Looking at this print advertisement denotatively the viewer sees two nude women sitting in a bathtub
filled with bubbles; one woman is seemingly scrubbing the other with a brain like one would normally
do with a sponge. The caption in the corner is surrounded by an octagon and reads A man s mind isn t
always on the road . The areas surrounding the two women is mostly tinted blue and white. The
woman who is being cleaned with the brain is looking downwards to the left while the woman holding
the brain is looking directly at the viewer/camera in what many would consider a sexual way. In the
background in the upper left corner candles are lit and sitting atop of a small table.
According to Sturken the practice of looking is tied to ideology, images are elements of contemporary
advertising and consumer culture through which assumptions about beauty, desire, glamour, and social
value are both constructed and responded to (21). In this ad we see that an assumption about desire
and social value are constructed. When looking at this

What Is The Theme Of Edmund In King Lear
5.2 Edmund
We meet Edmund at the very beginning of the play where Gloucester introduces him to Kent as his
illegitimate son and jokes about his illegitimacy in front of him. We do feel bad for him, but this
soliloquy reveals his true self and his intentions:

Edmund is the great villain of King Lear. The illegitimate son of Gloucester who knows that Edgar the
legitimate son will inherit all his father s properties uses his brain to get the throne. He uses his father
s good nature by showing him a letter supposedly written by Edgar against him. On the other hand he
conned Edgar saying that his father is against him thus inducing him to leave the kingdom. He betrays
both of them seeing them as mere objects for manipulation.
Edgar is humiliated by his own father for his bastardy. Gloucester even talks openly in front of him
with Kent about how this illegitimacy embarrasses him. Edmund uses his bastardy as a justification
for his evil acts. As he is considered a bastard he decides to act as one. However, there is one
important thing that should be emphasized revenge is not the driving force of his actions but rather
greed, self interest, and egoism. Even at the end he thinks about himself: Yet Edmund was belov

In modern theory, an organization is defined as a designed and structured process in which individuals
interact for objectives (Hicks Gullet, 1997) Modern Theory has three different Approaches: 1. The
systems approach: it views the inter connectedness between several components such as, individual,
environment, communication, balancing and decision analyzing as the goal of organization as well. 2.
Socio technical approach: it is based on technical system and environment of organization. An
organization uses tools and techniques on producing their products to make the organization more
effective technologically. 3. Contingency or situational approach: it is based on inter relating to the
environment. When different environments require different organizational relationships for maximum
effectiveness in correlation with social. Legal, political, technical and economic factors.(refer to

possibly, chamber concerts as well. So you know a little about me, I teach classical guitar at Georgia

The Core Elements of Person-Centered Counseling
Person centered counseling (PCC) is one of the key models of understanding for the dynamic force
that lies behind the therapist/client relationship. This particular model focuses on the three core
elements of unconditional positive regard, empathic understanding and congruence, all of which
related to the establishment of a level of trust, understanding, respect and honesty between the two
players. But what happens when the domain of person centered counseling gets usurped by a
computer centered reality ?
Can there really be person centered counseling in the day and age of digital manipulation and
engagement? What does it mean when gaming addictions are a leader on the scoreboard of issues of
concern to many young people? And if there can be an equivalent contemporary model, what are the
implications of this for the use of the kinds of therapeutic interventions that are likely to be the best for
dealing with problem computer usage?
This paper provides a brief overview of the three core elements of the PCC model and then seeks to
explore how they are likely impacted by the evolution of the fast paced realities of computer and
technological immersion. Clients and therapists are already finding themselves engaged together on
many fronts in the dynamic universe of cyberpsychology where the rules about what is real or ideal
and how human perceptions of these transfer to real life are just beginning to be understood.
First, however, it needs to be recognized that this

Anemia Is Common Among Individuals With Human...
Anemia is common among individuals with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection [1]. In
sub Saharan Africa, the prevalence of anemia is high people living with HIV are likely to be
malnourished, have low CD4 counts and have high rates of comorbidities such as tuberculosis and
malaria [2, 3] The presence of anemia predicts poor clinical outcomes like death, clinical progression
to AIDS, morbidity and a poor quality of life during the course of the HIV infection whether the
person is on ART or not [4, 5, 6]. Those who recover from the anemia have better clinical outcomes
[7].Therefore reducing anemia is a key component of care in people living with HIV.

For example, anemia caused by HIV and drug toxicity from antiretrovirals and prophylaxis such as
zidovudine and cotrimoxazole is important in people on ART in contrast to the general population and
those who are ART naïve. Therefore the approach to addressing anemia between these different groups
should be different.
As HIV/AIDS programs across sub Saharan Africa are maturing− more people are failing their first
line ART regimens and are requiring second line ART regimens− the programs should have strategies
in place to improve survival and to reduce morbidity while on ART [12]. In one part, these strategies
should identify those people at a greater risk of anemia during treatment.
We studied a cohort of Malawians on second line ART to describe the prevalence of anemia and
identify those individuals at risk of having anemia by assessing the prevalence, type and factors
associated with anemia in an ART experienced population that had switched to second line ART
following prior use of first line ART.

Animal Testing Arguments
Animal testing has been a major issue ever since it began. Many people over time began to realize that
it is immoral and that animals deserve rights just as much as humans do. Although many people have
realized that animal testing is wrong, there is still an abundance of others who believe that there is
nothing wrong with animal testing. Imagine if someone had a pet that they love and someone
performed harmful, painful, and fear inducing experiments on them, would the owner think it is okay?
No. Then why do people think it is okay to conduct tests on other animals that will feel all the same
emotions as someone s beloved pet? Animal testing is wrong and more efforts need to be put into
place to stop this cruel act because it is not always accurate, there are alternatives to the practice, and
it is not ethical.
The first reason as to why animal testing needs to be banned is that it does not always produce
accurate results. Animal and human bodies are not exactly the same, so these tests will not accurately
predict how harmful products will be to humans. Every time you reach for an eyedrop [eye drop] or
reapply [re apply] a lip salve, you do so confident that the chemicals they contain are safe to use. But
the toxicology tests on which regulators rely to gather this information are stuck in a time warp, and
are largely based on wasteful and often poorly predictive animal experiments (Abbott). Mistakes
really cannot be made when testing whether chemical products are hazardous

Romeo Was At Fault In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Romeo Was At Fault For my mind misgives some consequence yet hanging in the stars shall bitterly
begin his fearful date said Romeo Montague, from the enthralling play The Tragedy Of Romeo And
Juliet written by William Shakespeare. He d said this line as Mercutio, Benvolio and he walked to a
party, knowing they were unwelcomed, due to the party being held by the Capulets, sworn enemies of
the Montague family. He and his friends had decided to go unannounced. Is it possible that fate
controls an individual? Or are tragic ends the natural consequences of decisions people make? In the
story, Romeo is to blame because he made loathsome decisions within a few days, maybe a week, that
changed their lives. The primary reason to accuse Romeo is because he should have left once the party
had ended. Rather than climbing the orchard wall and eavesdropping on Juliet as she gave the line
Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo... venting her feelings and love for Romeo, aloud
assuming nobody can hear her discuss her private thoughts. Because the fact she is in her own
bedchamber, on her balcony at her house, there should be nobody lurking through her yard. Romeo
then says shall I hear more or shall I speak at this? Debating on announcing his presence or if he
should let her finish her beautifully implied speech. This could have potentially destroyed the trust in
their relationship. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Romeo should have waited longer to proclaim his feelings, by not doing so he has pushed the

Comparing Original Song To Johnny Cash s In My Life
In our society, originality is a valuable quality. When we think of movie remakes or music covers that
has existed, we tend to gravitate towards the original work because there is a certain feeling of
genuine intentionality and genius. But how far can our preconceptions of originality negate the new
elements that a cover can potentially bring to the table? After all, there are numerous covers that I
have personally encountered that added more to the original song to a point where the cover itself ends
up delivering a very different experience and perspective to me. By comparing In My Life by the
Beatles to Johnny Cash s rendition of In My Life , we can see that through the differences in
instrumentation, texture, and melody we end up receiving a subtly different song in terms of meaning
and experience. And because such a difference can exist, there should be more value and appreciation
towards music covers for breathing new life into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for the melody of the song, most of the verses ends up falling within the same pitch but ends up
rising in pitch near the last few words through a combination of melodic steps in the beginning and
leaps by the end. The melodic shape of the verse helps to emphasize a nostalgic mood by representing
how the singer ends up becoming happier as he remembers the past that he loves. During the middle 8,
the lines begin higher but end up lowering near the end. The melodic shape of the middle 8 helps to
bring the mood back from being in love (higher pitches) to being realistic (lower pitches). The guitar
riff also moves upward in steps and leaps. The instrumental guitar riff also has a very similar rhythmic
pattern as the middle 8. The overall meter, melody, and rhythm help to convey a sense of authenticity
in its emotions towards life and his lover through the presence of a constant pitch that subtly rises with
emotions of nostalgia or

Taking a Look in Tay-Sachs Disease
The cell is the basic unit of life in eukaryotic organisms. The inside of the cell is comprised of
multiple subunits called organelle that all function together to maintain homeostasis and function.
Each individual organelle is assigned a specific task and purpose for the cell. These tasks and purposes
can range from structural support all the way to the disposal of malfunctioning organelle.1 Similarity
to a machine, if one part stops functioning to full potential, serious if not fatal consequences can be
faced. A shining example of the effects of a malfunctioning organelle occurs in Tay Sachs disease. Tay
Sachs disease is a lysosomal disorder that is caused by a faulty lysosome.1 Recent studies and
research have been investigating the causes and pathways Tay Sachs disease with great success, which
is amazing news for the scientific community.
Lysosomes are membranous sacs of enzymes that are typically are involved in the digestion of cellular
macromolecules. They are made by both the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi complex.
Lysosomes have various roles, including the recycling of the cell s organic material and in the
intracellular digestion of macromolecules. The digestion of macromolecules is carried out through an
intense concentration of enzymes. To be specific, lysosomes contain close to 50 different degrading
enzymes that are capable of hydrolyzing proteins, DNA, RNA, polysaccharides, and lipids within the
cell.1 All of lysosomal enzymes are acid hydrolases,

Semi-Structured Interview Essay
Interviews are conversations which will take place between the researcher and interviewee, with the
researcher being the one who asks the questions for the interviewee to answer (Lambert, 2012, p104).
For my small scale project, I have decided that I will carry out semi structured interviews with those
who work in the education sector of the Castle Museum to find out what they do and how they
promote children s learning.
I think a semi structured interview will be good for my own research project as I will have a set
structure of questions that I would like to discuss. This will include all of the most important points
that I would like to cover, to ensure I do not miss them out. There will also be space to discuss topics

This style of interview will allow room to cover issues in depth if needed, and will give me the
opportunity to probe into certain issues that I would like to know more information about. Probing is a
tool used for ensuring reliability of the data, as it enables the interviewer to clarify with the respondent
any words or phrases that they may not fully understand (Barriball and While ,1994, p331). Semi
structured interviews gives the interviewer the chance to be flexible in what they want to ask their
participant by not having to follow any specific order.
Lambert argues that there are disadvantages to using semi structured interview, as the interviewee may
go onto another topic without realizing, resulting to this style of interview being hard to keep on track
(2012, p105). As well as this, as semi structured interview allows freedom for further questions, this
could result to important questions being missed due to running out of

The Importance Of Student Athletes In High School Sports
When I participated in high school interviews last year, the interviewer always wanted to know which
sports I played. The school interviewer knew I was a student at Hillside; a boarding school in
Marlborough that housed male students from grades 5 9. Hillside is one of the well known middle
school boarding institutions in New England and is known for having one of the best athletics
programs in Massachusetts. Every time I was asked, I d just shrug it off and tell them the truth: I m not
a real student athlete... Unless you count skiing and sailing as athletic activities. Like all the student
athletes, I was in a demographic of kids who worked their hardest to succeed in both academics and
athletics. During my time at Hillside, I went through all the hardships that the serious athletes went
through by trying to balance the two subjects. Some kids blamed their grades on teachers that did not
explain concepts well. Others turned to the lack of study material for answers. The only thing that we
all agreed on, as a community, was that pushing the start and end times back an hour was the worst
decision that an athletically focused school like ours could make. Since many private schools already
have very tight schedules, the athletes in these schools get the short end of the stick more often than
not in the event of a new and improved school schedule. We prepared for our day and woke up at 6:40
A.M. with classes beginning at 7:30 A.M. sharp. If we didn t play a team sport, our

Every morning, millions of people around the world begin their day by reading the newspaper. News
topics are constantly discussed in everyday life and remain the dominant topic of conversation
between friends, family, and even strangers. It is our responsibility as a modern society to recognize
all events that impact our lives and make others aware of them, and newspapers as well as the general
media allow us this opportunity. The New York Times, a worldwide newspaper, offers us a chance to

Considering this, I have chosen articles for this chapter that seem most pertinent in the general
overview of the response to these attacks, and through reviewing them one can clearly see the
escalation of the American public s grief and desire for revenge and closure.
The development of man s intellectual ability and understanding of the world around him can be most
readily seen in the continued development of science and technology. Whether it be new
advancements in medicine and healthcare or improvements on missiles for the anti terrorism war,
science and technology breakthroughs reassure us that our culture is thriving and continuing to expand
our horizons.
As an economic giant in the worldwide scheme of business, the United States has a great focus on
economical development and relations with foreign countries. The stock market has drastically
changed in response to the terrorist attacks, and this in turn has led to a great impact on the lives of
billions. The World Trade Towers, a symbol of our economic prowess, have fallen, but the American
desire to move forward in the field of world business has compelled me to include this aspect of life in
my archive.
Although economics fuels our society from a business standpoint, the development of the mind is a
practice that can never be rivaled. Through arts and entertainment, man is able to find what he is most

Essay about Puerto Rican Migration to Nyc
Christine Costanzo Puerto Rican Migration to New York City
The story of the Puerto Rican people is unique in the history of U.S. immigration, just as Puerto Rico
occupies a distinctive and sometimes confusing position in the nation s civic fabric. Puerto Rico has
been a possession of the U.S. for more than a century, but it has never been a state. Its people have
been U.S. citizens since 1917, but they have no vote in Congress. As citizens, the people of Puerto
Rico can move throughout the 50 states just as any other Americans can legally, this is considered
internal migration, not immigration. However, in moving to the mainland, Puerto Ricans leave a

factory owners and employment agencies had begun recruiting heavily on the island. In addition, the
postwar years saw the return home of thousands of Puerto Rican war veterans, whose service in the
U.S. military had shown them the world. But perhaps the most significant cause was the sudden
availability of affordable air travel. After centuries of immigration by boat, the Puerto Rican migration
became the first great airborne migration in U.S. history. The first great generation of Puerto Rican
migrants established communities in cities throughout the country, including Chicago, Philadelphia,
and Newark, as well as in mid Atlantic farm villages and the mill towns of New England. However,
since the 1930s, the capital of Puerto Rican culture in the mainland U.S. has been New York City.
Despite its great distance from the Caribbean, New York had long been the landing point of seagoing
Puerto Ricans, and the airborne newcomers followed suit. The new migrants settled in great numbers
in Northeast Manhattan, in a neighborhood that soon became known as Spanish Harlem. Although
many had been farm workers in Puerto Rico, they know found themselves working in a wide variety

Gandhi s Theory Of The Indian Subcontinent s Enslavements
In 1906, a young Mohandas Karmachand Gandhi, carried out his earliest deed of Satyagraha a
doctrine to practice passive or nonviolent resistance. He was successful in standing up against the
Transvaal province s government in the Republic of South Africa. It was only two years later when
Gandhi gained access to a letter written by the renowned Russian author, Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy to
the editor of the Free Hindustan newspaper in South Africa. In this letter, referred to as Letter to a
Hindu, Tolstoy addresses the roots of the Indian subcontinent s enslavements by the British as well as
methods to alleviate it.
Intrigued by the letter, Gandhi wrote to Tolstoy, asking for permission to translate the letter to
Guajarati, in an effort to share Tolstoy s wisdom with the others in the community. Gandhi continually
sought advice from Tolstoy from that point onwards; the correspondence between the two went on
until 1910 when Tolstoy passed away. The letter profoundly shaped young Gandhi s Satyagraha
ideology, setting a robust basis that Gandhi further develops.
Tolstoy starts each segment of the letter with a quote from one of the four Vedas, the Bible,
Vivekananda, the Hindu Kural, or Krishna. Each quote speaks of the chief themes addressed in
Tolstoy s letter: nonviolent resistance and love. Krishna, for instance, is the god that personifies love
and obliterates obscenity and agony. Born to institute love, Krishna is the most quoted of the five.
Vivekananda is a 19th

Feminism In Eve Ensler s Buffy The Vampire Slayer
In the spring of 1997 Buffy the Vampire Slayer debuted a show that addressed aspects of feminism
that were brought to life in society. This was around the same time the third wave of feminism began.
The wave started in the early 1990s and continues through present day and it is responding to the
failures of the second wave of feminism and also addressed the backlash that the second created.
Although there are many ideas from the second wave that they still used as a fighting tool to keep the
wave going. For example, the making domestic abuse shelters for women and children,
acknowledging the abuse of rape on women on public level, and legalizing the right to abortions and
many more organizations were created so that women and children would ... Show more content on

Magazine. Although it may have seemed like creating journals was a big deal in the third wave this
was less important. The effective ways of speaking out in the third weave came by feminists showed
their concerns through sexist images and symbols. A play that later turned to a book, The Vagina
Monologues, written by Eve Ensler explored women s feelings with sexuality that discussed vagina
centered topics, for example, orgasms, birth, and rape. The third wave redefined women and girls as
assertive, powerful, and in control of their own sexuality. The third wave, to an extent almost
unimaginable to the members of the first and second waves because some ideas had many facets with
people concerning their gender, ethnic, and class identities, experiences, and interests. The third
wavers sought to recalim and redefine the ideas that media placed ideas of womanhood, gender,
femininity, and masculinity. The third wave brought into existence the idea that gender is not based on
your traits you recieve at birth. Instead it is the idea that a person determines what their gender is
based on how they feel. Another important aspect of feminism in this wave was sex

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pebble Bed Reactor
1 Introduction One of the major challenges of the reintroduction of nuclear energy into the world
energy mix is the development of a nuclear power plant that is competitive with other energy
alternatives, such as natural gas, oil or coal. The environmental imperative of nuclear energy is
obvious. This report aims to provide an overview of the advantages and disadvantages of the pebble
bed reactor. The pebble bed reactor (PBR) is a graphite moderated, gas cooled nuclear reactor. It is a
type of very high temperature reactor, one of the six classes of nuclear reactors in the Generation IV
initiative.
2 Design of a PBR The basic design of pebble bed reactors features spherical fuel elements called
pebbles. These contain a large amount of micro fuel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is the very low power density of the reactor, which means that the amount of energy and heat
produced is volumetrically low and that there are natural mechanisms such as conductive and radiative
heat transfer that will remove the heat, even if no convective core cooling is provided. For example, in
a modular high temperature gas reactor, safety is ensured against the worst case accident (loss of
coolant with all rods out), by limiting the power density to approximately 6 MW/m3 and the overall
core size (resulting in an overall thermal power of 200 MW). Based on these design parameters, the
highest temperature the fuel would achieve is approximately 1600_ C, whereas it takes temperatures
of approximately 2000_ C in order for a pebble to break down. The second principle is that the silicon
carbide, which forms the tiny containment for each of the fuel particles in a pebble, needs to be of
sufficient quality so that it can retain the fission products. In tests performed to date on fuel reliability,
it has been shown that microspheres can be routinely manufactured with initial defects of less than 1
in 10,000. In safety analyses, it is assumed therefore that 1 in 10,000 of these microspheres has a
defect that would be release the _fission products into the

The Harmful Effects Of Child Labour
Abstract:
Child labour has many repercussions for the children, for their families and for the society as a whole.
The harmful effects of child labour can be seen in inadequate physical development, various illnesses
and deformities, damage to their central nervous system, impoverishment of their mental faculties and
indulgence in immoral acts. Family of the working child suffers the economic loss in the long run and
loses social bonds and ties within family which may ultimately lead to family disorganisation. This
survey focuses upon some specific dimensions of child labour like wages and hours of work of the
child labourers in Agra district of the U.P. state of India. Total 500 child workers were chosen as

The incidence of earning money from childhood generates a feeling of independence among children
due to which they like to behave freely and promiscuously and do not like to be subjected to control
and discipline by other family members and are seen in many cases, even before marriage indulging in
sexual acts. Thus the family not only suffers the economic loss in the long run but also becomes
subjected to lose social bonds and ties within the family, and at times, even family disorganisation
occurs. This survey study empirically investigates into dimensions of wage and working hours of child
workers in Agra, U.P., India.

knowledge, techniques and skills for one s different adult roles in the society, having to take up a job

agriculture and all other occupations were 242 and 257 and for children there were 307 and 315

Personality, Psychology, And Humanistic Approach
Personality in a Nutshell Personality is looked at everyday purposely and accidently. Whether you are
judging how your new professor for the semester will be, or if you are studying your best friend for a
project, personality is studied abundantly. While there are many ways to define personality, there is
not a worldwide definition around. Personality is the unique combination of patterns that influence
behavior, thought, motivation, and emotion in a human being (boundless.com). That is one of many
ways of defining personality. When examining personality, there are four main approachable theories
including: The Psychodynamic Approach, The Trait Approach, The Social Cognitive Approach, and
The Humanistic Approach. The Psychodynamic Approach was first approach by Sigmund Freud; he
dealt with the understanding that personality came from our unconscious state of mind. And that
unconscious state interacted to determine our thoughts, behaviors, and feelings (Bernstein, 425). Freud
also created the psychoanalytical theory stating that personality led the way to handling psychological
disorders. He divided personality into three main topics; which are the id, the ego, and the superego.
The id is the basis of each human being s instincts we are all born with. It is the immediate wants I
crave; it may show more selfish side. The ego is the part that subdues the id and calms it down. It
allows me to think and realize certain actions may upset someone else around me. The superego is

Differences Of Education In The Working Class
Do you think your school system prepared you enough for the workforce you want to pursue. Their is
a correlation between an area s income to education. Those in the working class have different
attitudes of teaching children compared to the elite class. There are four types of schools based on
income, working, middle, upper, and elite class. The attitudes these classes give toward knowledge
and work teaching their students for the working class is teach information because it is required,
middle class is to learn how to get right answer and not understand why it s correct, upper class
teaches material and children know why they are learning, and the elite class prepares students to be
quality hard workers who stand by their work.
In the working class the type of work is following procedure. Teachers rarely explain why the work is
being done such as if it is connected to other assignments or what the purpose of the activity is.
Teachers often do not take advantage to the provided textbooks, thus not getting the best education as
possible if resources are not being used. The attitude toward teaching the students are to show them
how to solve problem, but with no explanation of why the material is important, and why solving
problem works in that order. The teacher of this class was helping a student with a math two digit
division problem and was showing an alternate method without explaining that it is a different way, At

The Controversy Over the Electoral College System
A number of Americans fail to realize that when they vote they are not voting for the president and
vice president directly, but for electors who then cast their ballots in the Electoral College. Until the
recent battle between Gov. George W. Bush and Vice president Al Gore for the presidency, this new
generation of American voters has never witnessed a controversial election. Historically, there have
been problematic elections allowing voters to question this system. The Electoral College is now a
process open to criticism and debate, specifically because many do not understand its origin or
purpose today. On November 7, 2000, Election Day, I was excited to become an official voter. ...

Yet in the morning, I learn that Florida is again announced too close to call because by Florida law, the
percentage difference between the candidates was so marginal, a recount was necessary. Is this
possible to have such a close race and no president announced on Election Day? Because Al Gore had
a slim lead in the popular vote, the decision of which candidate receives the electoral votes in Florida
seemed irrelevant to the people. However, there have been many presidents who have merely won the

Analysis Of The Sand Child By Tahar Ben Jelloun
This novel was about a father wanting a son but he couldn t have one because the family was cursed ,
due to the fact he had seven daughters prior to that and could not acquire a son. Overtime, the father
and the mother decide of conceive another child and regardless of its gender it will be a boy no matter.
After that the child it turns out to be a female, she grows up with the privileges that a man would
normally have. This is the secret that is kept hidden because she is secretly born a female. In the story
The Sand Child by Tahar Ben Jelloun it contains crucial components that influence the faith of Ahmed
life. This is established by the gender inequality in moroccan culture such as self identity, inheritance
law, and patriarchy dictate Ahmed life throughout the novel.
Self identity is very important in the story one of the reasons is because Ahmed was born a female but
raised and treated as male. For example The child you shall bring into the world will be male, it will
be a man, it will be named Ahmed even if it is a girl (jelloun13) this demonstrates how girls are
unappreciated and how they are tread and seem by their culture. They believe that men are better than
women, throughout the story ahmed experiences both sides of each gender and gets treated better
when he was a man than a woman. Father I d like to get married (Jelloun 34) Ahmed stated, meaning

Danforth Neighbourhood Analysis
As with any other ethnic neighbourhood, The Danforth s presence within Toronto is important as it
allows for the preservation of the Greek culture in another country, and also encourages the sharing of
the culture within the city. Not only that, but The Danforth provides a unique perspective on an ethnic
neighbourhood that s thought of As the rest . Unlike other ethnic enclaves, such as Chinatown, The
Danforth is accustomed to the norms and way of life of the city of Toronto, while preventing the
assimilation of its own culture. This makes Greektown one of the more model ethnic neighbourhoods,
and an educational experience for all visitors, as its adaptation to the Canadian culture makes it a
substantially more relatable experience for visitors. In essence, it s not only important for the general
public to visit the neighbourhood, but for other ethnic neighbourhoods as well, as it not only

Balancing Individual Privacy with Press Freedom
Balancing Individual Privacy with Press Freedom
Alan F. Westin, a privacy expert at Columbia University, once wrote: Privacy is the claim of
individuals, groups, or institutions to determine for themselves when, how, and to what extent
information about them is communicated to others (self information control right). In this age of mass
media, individual privacy has become a casualty of journalists feeding frenzy and it has become really
hard for societies to determine the nature and process of information in the public domain. In this
article I reflect on the problem in Nepal s context.
Despite being a social animal, every human being seeks seclusion and solitude within the open mirror
of society. Privacy is inherent in the behavior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The current interim constitution (article 28) stipulates that except on the circumstance as provided by
the law, the privacy of the person, his or her residence, property, document, statistics, correspondence
and character is inviolable
Similarly, the constitution of the country also guarantees freedom of the press (article 15 interim
constitution, 2063). It ensures the right to freedom of press and publication. This right was included as
a specific fundamental right in previous Constitution of Nepal 2047.
Freedom of the press means the right to print and publish without any interference from the state or
any public authority. The liberty of the press consists freedom from prior restraints upon publication of
content. Freedom of the press also means freedom of dissemination, news and views from diverse and
antagonistic sources for the knowledge and welfare of the people.
The Press and Publication Act (2048), a new version of the earlier Press and Publication Act (2039),
also guaranteed the constitutional freedom of the press. The Gali Beizzati Ain 2016 (such as in article
3 and 8) recognizes freedom of the press. It says that every human being shall enjoy free press,
without any discrimination on the ground of race, color, sex etc.
There are, however, very few International Conventions which guarantee right to privacy, but there are
several conventions regarding press freedom. For example, the right to privacy is enumerated in
article 12 of the Universal

The successful team is cohesive because team members work together and share common goals and

They communicate well among themselves and well with other teams in the company. Conversely,
almost all problems preventing a team from operating cohesively are related to poor communication.
Misunderstandings and assumptions can create chaos within a team. Communication is vital to
successful team building. Managers who oversee teams should encourage their workers to
communicate regularly with each other. The manager should promote interaction amongst his team
members. It is easy for a team that sits together to interact. However, it is much more difficult if they
are not based in the same location. The manager should use regular events to bring his team together.
This can be done through team meetings, status and progress updates, or social events. Events outside
work can especially help the team get to know each other and foster positive working relationships.
When the manager schedules a team meeting, it is important for all team members to actively engage
during these meetings. Synergy on teams is achieved when team members feel comfortable speaking
up with suggestions that build on the creativity of other team members. If the manager is the only one
communicating and dominating the meeting, this can limit the chances of a team achieving real
synergy. All team members should feel encouraged to have input into their jobs. Encourage employees

Gender Roles Essay
Gender Roles
Women and men have extremely different roles in society. These gender roles are very evident in the
way we see ourselves as women, which is based on how we have been treated in the past and the
actions in history we have taken toward gender equality. Katha Pollitt expresses her feminist view in
her work Why boys don t play with dolls.
Instead of looking at kids to prove that differences in behavior by sex are innate, we can look at the
ways we raise kids as an index to how unfinished the feminist revolution really is, and how tentatively
it is embraced even by adults who fully expect their daughters to enter previously male dominated

shame over their persecution of women in The Men We Carry in Our Minds…and How They Differ
from the Real Lives of Most Men. He says to a friend of his This must be a hard time for women, they
have so many paths to choose from, and so many voices calling them. He also says growing up he
really envied women because they got to do things like; shop, visit neighbors, and run errands.
Sanders goes on to explain… I didn t see, then, what a prison a house could be…I did not realize,
because such things were never spoken of how women suffered from men s bullying.
Being a modern woman is definitely a double edged sword and has many complexities. Feminism has
taught us, that as women we are equal to men and we must demand and fight for that equality, while
the influence of gender roles makes us demand chivalry from men. We expect the same high paying
jobs as men; yet we demand that men do things like open doors for us. This could be viewed as the
result of many issues, but it all boils down to one simple concept: respect or actually lack of respect.

vast province on the west bank of the Delaware River (Samuel, 2000). It was named Pennsylvania,
which means Penn s woods, after his father. Penn decided that his colony was going to be different
from the rest of the colonies in that they were going to be a Quaker based colony. He believed in a
divine right of government and formed the government of Pennsylvania as a holy experiment in
governing. This type of government is considered being ahead of its time as it set forth a
representative form of government. The penal system was designed to reform not just punish, and all
prisoners except capital prisoners were entitled to bail, work houses were substituted for dungeons and
the death penalty was limited to murder and treason . Also, Penn instituted public education and
designed Philadelphia and other towns to promote health and fire safety. Being that Penn was in
charge of the colony, he was given the opportunity to practice the Quaker Peace Testimony. He
realized that a lot of the land that he was living on

The Importance Of Freedom In South Africa
As we know, Australia is a multicultural country; a country immigrant yearns to live in. It is also
popular for overseas students and workers. Multiculturalism is not only good for those people
broadening their horizons and knowing the world in the other side, but it is also promoting economic
development in Australia. When they are breathing the fresh air, and enhancing other skills in the
other environment, are they really feel free and treated equally and fairly in the other country they
choose to stay? Without doubt, there is not absolute freedom in any part of the world. Everyone has
the same rights for being treated fairly and equally whatever their skin color is, which country form
and gender. People have rights to choose their life what it wants to look like, what they want to do, is
living in the free of judgement life. Nelson Mandela the former president of South Africa, a nation
hero who has spending years being incarcerated and never stop fighting for justice and freedom. He
like most of other great leaders spent lots of years on the path for freedom and argues that For to be
free is not merely to cast off one s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom
of others (2013). In my view, living to respect the freedom of others means embracing cultural
differences, challenging racial discrimination and respecting religious freedoms.
Firstly, in order to embrace cultural differences, is important for people to feel included in society. It

The Mexican Drug War and Its Consequences
The Mexican Drug War and Its Consequences Despite President Felipe Calderon s good intentions and
determination to eliminate the drug cartels in Mexico, the Mexican government has not been able to
stop the drug cartel s operations (smuggling drugs, people and weapons to and from the USA) for
many reasons. The drug cartels have proven to be powerful, well connected politically, well trained,
well armed, and manipulation of the masses. Therefore, it has been impossible for the Mexican
government to stop cartels like La Familia from operating, and now the cartels have become a
problem for the Unites States too. The Mexican cartels have proven to be unstoppable for the Mexican
government. President of Mexico Felipe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are trying every way possible to make people believe they are doing God s work. The Mexican
church has not said anything about it, and there are people who are led to believe that perhaps some of
the violent works of the La Familia are necessary and maybe even justified. La Familia s smuggling
business has a big negative effect on America society and economy. Since La Familia is willing to pay
the exorbitant amounts of money for necessary costly weapons, it entices Americans into breaking the
law by getting involved in the illegally sales of arms. In February 2007, drug cartels gunmen attacked
two offices of the Guerrero state attorney general s office in the resort town of Acapulco, killing four
officers and three secretaries. One of the rifles used in the attack was traced back to the United States
(guns without borders). Federal agents say about 90 percent of the 12000 pistols and rifles that the
Mexican authorities recovered from drug dealers in the United States are mostly from Texas and
Arizona (McKinley 1). Every gun smuggler captured is sent to prison, and the government has to
house him and fed him, costing taxpayers thousands of dollars a year. Drug addiction costs the U.S.
billions in health care. According to the 2008 National Survey of Drug Use and Health, approximately
three million Americans 12 or older

The Invention Of Our Modern Day Fracking
Yes! Greater independence from foreign oil would be a positive, and yes, cleaner air is good for your
health, and most certainly, everyone loves lower gas prices. According to a spokesman from Pinnacle,
a Halliburton service company, In the more than 60 years following those first treatments, more than
two million fracturing treatments have been pumped with not one documented case of any treatment
polluting an aquifer not one. ( Shooters A Fracking History ). This statement may lead you to believe
there is no need for concern, but there is a big pink elephant in the room. Arguments against these
statements would prove futile, at a first glance, but understanding the true cost, to the environment and
our safety could prove more valuable than the money earned. The beginnings of our modern day
fracking process reside in a U.S. Patent No. 59,936, issued to a Col. Edward Roberts, in November of
1866, during the civil war. Robert s idea, dubbed Exploding Torpedo , involved dropping artillery
rounds down a well, filling it with water, to concentrate the concussion, thereby fracturing the
surrounding rock, allowing for greater access to the gas or oil below. (Hicks, See an Exploding
Torpedo ). This process has improved greatly and the Environmental Protection Agency now refers to
hydraulic fracking as the entire process, from the gathering of water used until waste disposal. What
was once thought to be cost prohibitive is now more cost effective than ever. Once

Video Games Cause Violence Essay
Video Games Cause Violence
Video games have become a major occupation of majority of the youth these days. They spend hours
on end concentrating on video games, some of which are apparently very violent, yet this is actually
the whole idea. Coming from the horse s mouth is an argument in support of video games coined from
a video programmer s point of view, stating that violent video games allow people to do what they can
not do in reality virtual reality. ( http://www.theroc.org/roc mag/textarch/roc 15/roc15 08.htm ) For
instance, someone said to be having a bad day could use a violent video game to release stress by
shooting down a couple hundred bad men than actually taking an AK 47 and spilling down a few
brains down the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The focus on these games is not only to kill, but also to torture and maim in the process.
The story line behind some violent video games includes games in which players earn points by
carjacking taxis, scoring drugs from cursing thugs, and mowing down pedestrians.(see
http://www.feedmag.com/vgs/duncan.html ) Some cartoonish tag lines in some sadistic video games
include : As easy as killing babies with axes and More fun than killing your neighbour s cats . This
kind of themes definitely influence the players, especially the younger ones, and inflict violent
tendencies on them. It is no wonder, that this killing mania in violent games was seen to seep out into
the actual world when a high school junior opened fire in his school cafetaria in Littleton, Colorado,
killing two of his classmates. The gunman was reported to be an ardent fan of Quake and Doom, some
rather violent video games. More proof of the relationship between video games and violence is
revealed by a study which clearly reveals how this kind of entertainment affects our lives. Greater
details of the history of how high school students turned gunmen in Columbine High School are given,
which shows that the effect of video games in their lives was a major source of influence in doing
what they did best.
In the light of all these, it is very clear that virtual reality as

The Causes Of Alopecia
What is alopecia? Alopecia is identified as a partial or complete absence of hair from areas of the body
where it normally grows. Most people mistake alopecia for cancer but it is actually an autoimmune
disease. This form of disease attacks the hair follicles which causes the hair fall out profusely. There
are some cases where it s not so severe when it comes to hair loss. Some people only lose a quarter
size patch of hair in certain spots. But there are more severe cases where the person will lose all hair
on the body. The exact cause of alopecia is unknown. Researchers don t know what causes the
immune system to attack the hair follicles. Alopecia is mostly found in people who have a family
history of other autoimmune diseases, such as diabetes

Social Networking And Its Impact On The World
In 2011, Snapchat grasped the attention of millions of smartphone users across the world. Consumers
were ecstatic for the launch of the very first social networking application that would allow people to
send pictures and short videos, to a controlled group of people, for a few seconds before they
disappeared and never surfaced again. Snapchat was the first application that established the idea of
impermanent content, which gave consumers a sense of security when sending content to others. This
was until a group of hackers found a way to hack into Snapchat servers, leading to the company s first
breach by publically publishing user data on the Internet.

He found calmalty in college. At a young age Evan Spiegel established a passion in developing and
creating software. Evan developed a key talent for building relationships easily, with the right people
who would allow him to find better career opportunities as a student at Stanford University. According
to FORBES, some of Spiegel s early career experience arouse from working with Intuit s CEO, Scott
Cook and developing a website with Murphy Brown a year before the launch of Snapchat.
The idea for Snapchat, formerly known as Picaboo, was developed as a product development project
for a university course and was brought to light while discussing the topic of sexting with close friend,
Frank Reginald (Reggie) Brown. In the summer of 2011, before the launch, the three fraternity
brothers worked on the project at Spiegel s father s home. Each member played an imperative role in
the creation of Picaboo. Chief Executive Officer, Evan Spiegel, designed the user interface and helped
with many aspects of developing Snapchat. The three decided that Evan would be the CEO based on
his previous experience. Chief Marketing Officer, Reggie Brown created the app s ghost logo,
Ghostface Chillah and came up with the initial idea of creating a disappearing picture message
application.

Martin Luther s Influence On Catholicism
For a long time Catholicism was the dominant religion. If you were not a catholic then you did not go
to church, or at least church with a lot of people. Then came a man named Martin Luther. Martin
threw a curveball in the Catholic Church s plan. He pointed out the indulgences being sold by the
Roman Catholic church to fund new buildings and new things for the pope and bishops to have.
Lutheranism is a religion based off of Catholicism with changes done by Martin Luther, a German
Monk and Theologian, he made his points with the 95 theses, and it exposed all the flaws with the
catholic church. Martin Luther was born November 10, 1483 to Hans and Margethe Luther in
Eisleben, Germany. His Father Hans was a copper mine owner. At age 17, the ... Show more content

The ELS was formed in 1918. They have about 21,000 members in the church today. They are a very
conservative lutheran church. They are with the WELS in fellowship, because of their similar beliefs.
The CLC also know as the Church of Lutheran Confession, was formed in 1963. The Church was
formed because of a break up of the Evangelical Lutheran Synodical Conference of North America,
due to a disagreement about the church principles. The CLC believes that the bible is the only thing
you can look to for religion. The Lutheran Church as a whole has over 72 million members today. As
far as demographics go 71% of that 72 million are white. 8 million of the 72 are in America. In
America the largest clusters of Lutherans are in the Midwest and in the South. In the ELCA the North
Carolina Synod is the 3rd largest Synod within the ELCA.
Catholicism differs from Lutheranism with two main flaws. The flaws that existed back in the 1500s
still exist today. The first is how is one saved and be able to enter heaven? The Lutherans believe that
the scripture tells us our fate. A good quote from the bible that Lutherans use a lot is Romans 3:28
which states we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the

How Does Maya Angelou Relate To Racism
Maya Angelou and the Theme of Racism
Poems provide a new insight and portray many meanings. Maya Angelou, born in 1928, was a highly
achieved, versatile woman whom is an author, poet, dancer, and actress. In her poems and in life,
racism is integrated. This is seen in Angelou s familial and other life experiences, the literary devices
seen in Still I Rise, and the extension of the metaphor in Caged Bird.
Maya Angelou was born in St. Louis, MO and soon later moved to a segregated part of AK, known as
Stamps. This relocation was because of her parents divorce and Angelou was only 3 when it
happened. When this 7 year old girl was visiting her mother back in MO, she suffered at the hands of a
family associate (Maya Angelou Biography). According to Poetry Foundation, Maya was raped by her
mother s boyfriend. As a result of this crime , Maya s uncles killed this man. This man was able to be
killed because seeing Angelou was black, this man only received a one day sentence for the rape. This
time, 1930 s, was still a time for racism. As a child, these traumatic events caused ... Show more

an extended metaphor, according to Caged Bird by Maya Angelou: Interpretive Essay Swanierenglish.
The whole poem centers around the concept that the free bird are the white people, while the caged
bird are the African Americans. This is supported by the actual poem, provided by AfroPoets, The
whites can practically do whatever they want as they dare to claim the sky. The blacks wings are
clipped meaning they cannot do much because of their race. This poem portrays the attitudes of
African American s general experiences during the Civil Rights era (Caged Bird by Maya Angelou:

Lyndon B. Johnson And The Great Society Essay
Lyndon B. Johnson and The Great Society Lyndon Baines Johnson introduced the Great Society, a
strategic plan of action to propose environmental cleanup, decreasing poverty, and helping to further
fund education during his state of the union address in 1965 in a poetic manner. He spoke of it as a
destination that the American people would work toward. Johnson s address gave many Americans
hope and faith in a better world after feeling so much pain following the assassination of John F.
Kennedy. Americans were anxious to move forward as a nation in support of the changed Johnson
proposed. The Great Society was a proposed plan of actions intended to benefit the American people.
Johnson developed the Great Society in a utopian fashion that proposed programs concerning the
cities, the environment and education which in return brought modern liberalism into turmoil and
broadened the administrative state. Taking office after the assassination of John F. Kennedy put
tremendous pressure on Johnson. Not only did he have his own ideas, he also needed to fulfill the
legacy left by Kennedy. In order to do both, he created the Great Society. Johnson wished to create the
glue that kept the American people together and according to Paul C. Aiken and John M. Redding
(1965) he fulfilled his famous words of, Let us continue... while addressing the country after that fatal
day in Dallas and passing several acts to better the country. A politician that Johnson looked up to was

  • 2. Leading Change Essay Leading Change | | Mike DiBenedetto | The best way to summarize this book is to dissect it into three parts. In part one the book discusses the change problem and its solution. This part focuses on two main topics; 1) Transforming organizations and why firms fail and 2) successful change and the force that drives it. Part two discusses the eight stage process in transforming an organization. Finally, in part three the book discusses the implications for the twenty first century. Identifying the change problem can be difficult but driving solution is even more challenging. There are eight mistakes that companies make when trying to change an organization; 1) Allowing too much complacency; 2) Failing to create a sufficiently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They must understand their competition and how they fit into the market they are competing for. Management must also identify low hanging fruit opportunities as it is a great way to strike quickly. Then they must move to step two quickly in order to put the plan in action. In step two, upper management must identify the right personnel to drive the change. These individuals must have a high level of experience and be respected by the people on the ground level. If approached by white collar corporate types far removed from the action, people will not feel motivated to put forth the effort required to make the change. This group is referred to as the guiding coalition. With the team in place it is time to develop a vision and a strategy. In step three the vision and strategy are developed. The vision is developed with the idea of where the company needs to go in order to succeed. Management will use the identified issues and opportunities in order to determine what actions to take. After that the strategy is formed in order to execute the vision. Now for the hard part, communicating the change vision. Step four is very difficult because people are resistant to change. If the change vision is not communicated properly people will lose interest quickly. The guiding coalition must be very specific and honest in communicating the vision. The communication must be repeated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Descriptive Essay About Eiffel Tower Memoir I had seen it so much on TV, in pictures, everywhere. I was now going to be able to experience it for myself. The huge metal structure I had seen in my dreams had finally appeared in real life. Built way before I was born, the Eiffel Tower is one of the most sought after things to see. My family and I were four of the seven million visitors this year. It shows to, the line just to buy tickets was about an hour long, but well worth it. We had just gotten off a bus tour that took us through the heart of Paris, we saw old statues and monuments that had been built throughout the years. We smelled the food from the nearby street vendors and restaurants. We saw all the shiny and sumptuous purses, and clothing that were in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We had been looking out for about an hour and my parents said we should find a stop. My brother yelled out, Let s go to that tower, as he pointed at the Eiffel Tower in the distance. My parents glanced at each other for a long two seconds and said in unison, Sure! So it was decided that in about fifteen minutes we were going to visit the Eiffel Tower. After the longest time, I heard the person announce through the cheap maroon earbuds, This is the Eiffel Tower Stop. I leaped out of my seat very excited, ready to go. My parents said that there was going to be a very long wait and that we would have to be patient if we wanted to go. We waited in the security line just to enter for about thirty minutes. My brother was already complaining, saying that he was tired and wanted to lay down. Again, my parents said that if he really wanted to go he better stop complaining. From there the line to get tickets was a lot longer. Although it was longer it was the better of the two lines because we all talked and had a good time waiting. • 4. Semiotic Analysis In Advertising Through semiotic analysis, signifiers, myths and paradigmatic analysis an interpretation of a car insurance ad by the VHV holding company can be made on many levels. VHV Holding, a German car insurance company, uses sexist ideologies to sell the idea that you need insurance in case you get into an accident while distracted by establishing women as sexualized objects and men as beings who are reckless drivers because of constant sexual thoughts. Looking at this print advertisement denotatively the viewer sees two nude women sitting in a bathtub filled with bubbles; one woman is seemingly scrubbing the other with a brain like one would normally do with a sponge. The caption in the corner is surrounded by an octagon and reads A man s mind isn t always on the road . The areas surrounding the two women is mostly tinted blue and white. The woman who is being cleaned with the brain is looking downwards to the left while the woman holding the brain is looking directly at the viewer/camera in what many would consider a sexual way. In the background in the upper left corner candles are lit and sitting atop of a small table. According to Sturken the practice of looking is tied to ideology, images are elements of contemporary advertising and consumer culture through which assumptions about beauty, desire, glamour, and social value are both constructed and responded to (21). In this ad we see that an assumption about desire and social value are constructed. When looking at this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The illegitimate son of Gloucester who knows that Edgar the legitimate son will inherit all his father s properties uses his brain to get the throne. He uses his father s good nature by showing him a letter supposedly written by Edgar against him. On the other hand he conned Edgar saying that his father is against him thus inducing him to leave the kingdom. He betrays both of them seeing them as mere objects for manipulation. Edgar is humiliated by his own father for his bastardy. Gloucester even talks openly in front of him with Kent about how this illegitimacy embarrasses him. Edmund uses his bastardy as a justification for his evil acts. As he is considered a bastard he decides to act as one. However, there is one important thing that should be emphasized revenge is not the driving force of his actions but rather greed, self interest, and egoism. Even at the end he thinks about himself: Yet Edmund was belov d:/The one the other poison d for my sake, / And after slew herself . He has no reason to hate neither his father nor his brother. • 9. The Core Elements of Person-Centered Counseling Person centered counseling (PCC) is one of the key models of understanding for the dynamic force that lies behind the therapist/client relationship. This particular model focuses on the three core elements of unconditional positive regard, empathic understanding and congruence, all of which related to the establishment of a level of trust, understanding, respect and honesty between the two players. But what happens when the domain of person centered counseling gets usurped by a computer centered reality ? Can there really be person centered counseling in the day and age of digital manipulation and engagement? What does it mean when gaming addictions are a leader on the scoreboard of issues of concern to many young people? And if there can be an equivalent contemporary model, what are the implications of this for the use of the kinds of therapeutic interventions that are likely to be the best for dealing with problem computer usage? This paper provides a brief overview of the three core elements of the PCC model and then seeks to explore how they are likely impacted by the evolution of the fast paced realities of computer and technological immersion. Clients and therapists are already finding themselves engaged together on many fronts in the dynamic universe of cyberpsychology where the rules about what is real or ideal and how human perceptions of these transfer to real life are just beginning to be understood. In sub Saharan Africa, the prevalence of anemia is high people living with HIV are likely to be malnourished, have low CD4 counts and have high rates of comorbidities such as tuberculosis and malaria [2, 3] The presence of anemia predicts poor clinical outcomes like death, clinical progression to AIDS, morbidity and a poor quality of life during the course of the HIV infection whether the person is on ART or not [4, 5, 6]. For example, anemia caused by HIV and drug toxicity from antiretrovirals and prophylaxis such as zidovudine and cotrimoxazole is important in people on ART in contrast to the general population and those who are ART naïve. Therefore the approach to addressing anemia between these different groups should be different. As HIV/AIDS programs across sub Saharan Africa are maturing− more people are failing their first line ART regimens and are requiring second line ART regimens− the programs should have strategies in place to improve survival and to reduce morbidity while on ART [12]. In one part, these strategies should identify those people at a greater risk of anemia during treatment. We studied a cohort of Malawians on second line ART to describe the prevalence of anemia and identify those individuals at risk of having anemia by assessing the prevalence, type and factors associated with anemia in an ART experienced population that had switched to second line ART following prior use of first line ART. • 11. Animal Testing Arguments Animal testing has been a major issue ever since it began. Many people over time began to realize that it is immoral and that animals deserve rights just as much as humans do. Although many people have realized that animal testing is wrong, there is still an abundance of others who believe that there is nothing wrong with animal testing. Imagine if someone had a pet that they love and someone performed harmful, painful, and fear inducing experiments on them, would the owner think it is okay? No. Then why do people think it is okay to conduct tests on other animals that will feel all the same emotions as someone s beloved pet? Animal testing is wrong and more efforts need to be put into place to stop this cruel act because it is not always accurate, there are alternatives to the practice, and it is not ethical. The first reason as to why animal testing needs to be banned is that it does not always produce accurate results. Animal and human bodies are not exactly the same, so these tests will not accurately predict how harmful products will be to humans. Every time you reach for an eyedrop [eye drop] or reapply [re apply] a lip salve, you do so confident that the chemicals they contain are safe to use. But the toxicology tests on which regulators rely to gather this information are stuck in a time warp, and are largely based on wasteful and often poorly predictive animal experiments (Abbott). Mistakes really cannot be made when testing whether chemical products are hazardous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Romeo Was At Fault In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet Romeo Was At Fault For my mind misgives some consequence yet hanging in the stars shall bitterly begin his fearful date said Romeo Montague, from the enthralling play The Tragedy Of Romeo And Juliet written by William Shakespeare. He d said this line as Mercutio, Benvolio and he walked to a party, knowing they were unwelcomed, due to the party being held by the Capulets, sworn enemies of the Montague family. He and his friends had decided to go unannounced. Is it possible that fate controls an individual? Or are tragic ends the natural consequences of decisions people make? In the story, Romeo is to blame because he made loathsome decisions within a few days, maybe a week, that changed their lives. The primary reason to accuse Romeo is because he should have left once the party had ended. Rather than climbing the orchard wall and eavesdropping on Juliet as she gave the line Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo... venting her feelings and love for Romeo, aloud assuming nobody can hear her discuss her private thoughts. Because the fact she is in her own bedchamber, on her balcony at her house, there should be nobody lurking through her yard. Romeo then says shall I hear more or shall I speak at this? When we think of movie remakes or music covers that has existed, we tend to gravitate towards the original work because there is a certain feeling of genuine intentionality and genius. But how far can our preconceptions of originality negate the new elements that a cover can potentially bring to the table? After all, there are numerous covers that I have personally encountered that added more to the original song to a point where the cover itself ends up delivering a very different experience and perspective to me. By comparing In My Life by the Beatles to Johnny Cash s rendition of In My Life , we can see that through the differences in instrumentation, texture, and melody we end up receiving a subtly different song in terms of meaning and experience. As for the melody of the song, most of the verses ends up falling within the same pitch but ends up rising in pitch near the last few words through a combination of melodic steps in the beginning and leaps by the end. During the middle 8, the lines begin higher but end up lowering near the end. The melodic shape of the middle 8 helps to bring the mood back from being in love (higher pitches) to being realistic (lower pitches). The guitar riff also moves upward in steps and leaps. • 14. Taking a Look in Tay-Sachs Disease The cell is the basic unit of life in eukaryotic organisms. The inside of the cell is comprised of multiple subunits called organelle that all function together to maintain homeostasis and function. Each individual organelle is assigned a specific task and purpose for the cell. These tasks and purposes can range from structural support all the way to the disposal of malfunctioning organelle.1 Similarity to a machine, if one part stops functioning to full potential, serious if not fatal consequences can be faced. A shining example of the effects of a malfunctioning organelle occurs in Tay Sachs disease. Tay Sachs disease is a lysosomal disorder that is caused by a faulty lysosome.1 Recent studies and research have been investigating the causes and pathways Tay Sachs disease with great success, which is amazing news for the scientific community. Lysosomes are membranous sacs of enzymes that are typically are involved in the digestion of cellular macromolecules. They are made by both the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi complex. Lysosomes have various roles, including the recycling of the cell s organic material and in the intracellular digestion of macromolecules. The digestion of macromolecules is carried out through an intense concentration of enzymes. To be specific, lysosomes contain close to 50 different degrading enzymes that are capable of hydrolyzing proteins, DNA, RNA, polysaccharides, and lipids within the cell.1 All of lysosomal enzymes are acid hydrolases, ... Semi-Structured Interview Essay Interviews are conversations which will take place between the researcher and interviewee, with the researcher being the one who asks the questions for the interviewee to answer (Lambert, 2012, p104). For my small scale project, I have decided that I will carry out semi structured interviews with those who work in the education sector of the Castle Museum to find out what they do and how they promote children s learning. I think a semi structured interview will be good for my own research project as I will have a set structure of questions that I would like to discuss. Semi structured interviews gives the interviewer the chance to be flexible in what they want to ask their participant by not having to follow any specific order. Lambert argues that there are disadvantages to using semi structured interview, as the interviewee may go onto another topic without realizing, resulting to this style of interview being hard to keep on track (2012, p105). As well as this, as semi structured interview allows freedom for further questions, this could result to important questions being missed due to running out of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The school interviewer knew I was a student at Hillside; a boarding school in Marlborough that housed male students from grades 5 9. Hillside is one of the well known middle school boarding institutions in New England and is known for having one of the best athletics programs in Massachusetts. Every time I was asked, I d just shrug it off and tell them the truth: I m not a real student athlete... Unless you count skiing and sailing as athletic activities. Like all the student athletes, I was in a demographic of kids who worked their hardest to succeed in both academics and athletics. During my time at Hillside, I went through all the hardships that the serious athletes went through by trying to balance the two subjects. Some kids blamed their grades on teachers that did not explain concepts well. Others turned to the lack of study material for answers. The only thing that we all agreed on, as a community, was that pushing the start and end times back an hour was the worst decision that an athletically focused school like ours could make. Since many private schools already have very tight schedules, the athletes in these schools get the short end of the stick more often than not in the event of a new and improved school schedule. Puerto Rico has been a possession of the U.S. for more than a century, but it has never been a state. Its people have been U.S. citizens since 1917, but they have no vote in Congress. As citizens, the people of Puerto Rico can move throughout the 50 states just as any other Americans can legally, this is considered internal migration, not immigration. After centuries of immigration by boat, the Puerto Rican migration became the first great airborne migration in U.S. history. The first great generation of Puerto Rican migrants established communities in cities throughout the country, including Chicago, Philadelphia, and Newark, as well as in mid Atlantic farm villages and the mill towns of New England. However, since the 1930s, the capital of Puerto Rican culture in the mainland U.S. has been New York City. Despite its great distance from the Caribbean, New York had long been the landing point of seagoing Puerto Ricans, and the airborne newcomers followed suit. The new migrants settled in great numbers in Northeast Manhattan, in a neighborhood that soon became known as Spanish Harlem. Although many had been farm workers in Puerto Rico, they know found themselves working in a wide variety of jobs, staffing the hospitals, the hotels, the garment factories, and the police departments of their new hometown, and they soon became a significant force in the city s political and cultural life. • 20. Gandhi s Theory Of The Indian Subcontinent s Enslavements In 1906, a young Mohandas Karmachand Gandhi, carried out his earliest deed of Satyagraha a doctrine to practice passive or nonviolent resistance. He was successful in standing up against the Transvaal province s government in the Republic of South Africa. It was only two years later when Gandhi gained access to a letter written by the renowned Russian author, Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy to the editor of the Free Hindustan newspaper in South Africa. In this letter, referred to as Letter to a Hindu, Tolstoy addresses the roots of the Indian subcontinent s enslavements by the British as well as methods to alleviate it. Intrigued by the letter, Gandhi wrote to Tolstoy, asking for permission to translate the letter to Guajarati, in an effort to share Tolstoy s wisdom with the others in the community. Gandhi continually sought advice from Tolstoy from that point onwards; the correspondence between the two went on until 1910 when Tolstoy passed away. The letter profoundly shaped young Gandhi s Satyagraha ideology, setting a robust basis that Gandhi further develops. Tolstoy starts each segment of the letter with a quote from one of the four Vedas, the Bible, Vivekananda, the Hindu Kural, or Krishna. Each quote speaks of the chief themes addressed in Tolstoy s letter: nonviolent resistance and love. Krishna, for instance, is the god that personifies love and obliterates obscenity and agony. • 23. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pebble Bed Reactor 1 Introduction One of the major challenges of the reintroduction of nuclear energy into the world energy mix is the development of a nuclear power plant that is competitive with other energy alternatives, such as natural gas, oil or coal. The environmental imperative of nuclear energy is obvious. This report aims to provide an overview of the advantages and disadvantages of the pebble bed reactor. The pebble bed reactor (PBR) is a graphite moderated, gas cooled nuclear reactor. It is a type of very high temperature reactor, one of the six classes of nuclear reactors in the Generation IV initiative. 2 Design of a PBR The basic design of pebble bed reactors features spherical fuel elements called pebbles. These contain a large amount of micro fuel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first is the very low power density of the reactor, which means that the amount of energy and heat produced is volumetrically low and that there are natural mechanisms such as conductive and radiative heat transfer that will remove the heat, even if no convective core cooling is provided. For example, in a modular high temperature gas reactor, safety is ensured against the worst case accident (loss of coolant with all rods out), by limiting the power density to approximately 6 MW/m3 and the overall core size (resulting in an overall thermal power of 200 MW). Based on these design parameters, the highest temperature the fuel would achieve is approximately 1600_ C, whereas it takes temperatures of approximately 2000_ C in order for a pebble to break down. The second principle is that the silicon carbide, which forms the tiny containment for each of the fuel particles in a pebble, needs to be of sufficient quality so that it can retain the fission products. In tests performed to date on fuel reliability, it has been shown that microspheres can be routinely manufactured with initial defects of less than 1 in 10,000. In safety analyses, it is assumed therefore that 1 in 10,000 of these microspheres has a defect that would be release the _fission products into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whether you are judging how your new professor for the semester will be, or if you are studying your best friend for a project, personality is studied abundantly. While there are many ways to define personality, there is not a worldwide definition around. Personality is the unique combination of patterns that influence behavior, thought, motivation, and emotion in a human being (boundless.com). That is one of many ways of defining personality. When examining personality, there are four main approachable theories including: The Psychodynamic Approach, The Trait Approach, The Social Cognitive Approach, and The Humanistic Approach. The Psychodynamic Approach was first approach by Sigmund Freud; he dealt with the understanding that personality came from our unconscious state of mind. And that unconscious state interacted to determine our thoughts, behaviors, and feelings (Bernstein, 425). Freud also created the psychoanalytical theory stating that personality led the way to handling psychological disorders. He divided personality into three main topics; which are the id, the ego, and the superego. The id is the basis of each human being s instincts we are all born with. Nick s father does not want to answer his wife s questions, and when he does, he lies to her. He assumes that she will not understand his reasoning for the argument he just had outside. In addition, his wife s religious demands for him to not lose his temper show that she does not want him to be a stereotypical aggressive and protective male. Also, Christian Science religion does not believe in medicine, which means that she has no respect for her husband s work. Nick s father decides to go hunting, where he can express his masculinity. When Nick decides to go with him, Nick is also showing an interest in male to male interaction over male to female interaction with his mother. We see Nick at the end of the story, still calling his father daddy and wanting to follow him around. If the family would interact more, then it is probable that Nick would be able to develop more psychologically. He is still being treated like a little child, so he is still acting like one. We next see Nick and his reactions to relationships. In The End of Something Nick breaks up with his girlfriend Marjorie. He expresses to her that he is bored with his life and that they cannot stay together. This shows that due to Nick s past, he is not ready for relationships with women. He does not want to live his life in the traditional manner that Marjorie expects him to. Due to his lack of development, he cannot communicate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These gender roles are very evident in the way we see ourselves as women, which is based on how we have been treated in the past and the actions in history we have taken toward gender equality. Katha Pollitt expresses her feminist view in her work Why boys don t play with dolls. Instead of looking at kids to prove that differences in behavior by sex are innate, we can look at the ways we raise kids as an index to how unfinished the feminist revolution really is, and how tentatively it is embraced even by adults who fully expect their daughters to enter previously male dominated professions and their sons to change ... He also says growing up he really envied women because they got to do things like; shop, visit neighbors, and run errands. Sanders goes on to explain… I didn t see, then, what a prison a house could be…I did not realize, because such things were never spoken of how women suffered from men s bullying. Being a modern woman is definitely a double edged sword and has many complexities. Feminism has taught us, that as women we are equal to men and we must demand and fight for that equality, while the influence of gender roles makes us demand chivalry from men. We expect the same high paying jobs as men; yet we demand that men do things like open doors for us. This could be viewed as the result of many issues, but it all boils down to one simple concept: respect or actually lack of respect. King Charles II owed Penn s father, Admiral Sir William Penn, and in return Penn persuaded the king to grant him a vast province on the west bank of the Delaware River (Samuel, 2000). It was named Pennsylvania, which means Penn s woods, after his father. Penn decided that his colony was going to be different from the rest of the colonies in that they were going to be a Quaker based colony. He believed in a divine right of government and formed the government of Pennsylvania as a holy experiment in governing. This type of government is considered being ahead of its time as it set forth a representative form of government. The penal system was designed to reform not just punish, and all prisoners except capital prisoners were entitled to bail, work houses were substituted for dungeons and the death penalty was limited to murder and treason . Also, Penn instituted public education and designed Philadelphia and other towns to promote health and fire safety. • 41. The Importance Of Freedom In South Africa As we know, Australia is a multicultural country; a country immigrant yearns to live in. It is also popular for overseas students and workers. Multiculturalism is not only good for those people broadening their horizons and knowing the world in the other side, but it is also promoting economic development in Australia. When they are breathing the fresh air, and enhancing other skills in the other environment, are they really feel free and treated equally and fairly in the other country they choose to stay? Without doubt, there is not absolute freedom in any part of the world. Everyone has the same rights for being treated fairly and equally whatever their skin color is, which country form and gender. People have rights to choose their life what it wants to look like, what they want to do, is living in the free of judgement life. Nelson Mandela the former president of South Africa, a nation hero who has spending years being incarcerated and never stop fighting for justice and freedom. He like most of other great leaders spent lots of years on the path for freedom and argues that For to be free is not merely to cast off one s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others (2013). The Mexican Drug War and Its Consequences The Mexican Drug War and Its Consequences Despite President Felipe Calderon s good intentions and determination to eliminate the drug cartels in Mexico, the Mexican government has not been able to stop the drug cartel s operations (smuggling drugs, people and weapons to and from the USA) for many reasons. The drug cartels have proven to be powerful, well connected politically, well trained, well armed, and manipulation of the masses. The Mexican church has not said anything about it, and there are people who are led to believe that perhaps some of the violent works of the La Familia are necessary and maybe even justified. La Familia s smuggling business has a big negative effect on America society and economy. Since La Familia is willing to pay the exorbitant amounts of money for necessary costly weapons, it entices Americans into breaking the law by getting involved in the illegally sales of arms. In February 2007, drug cartels gunmen attacked two offices of the Guerrero state attorney general s office in the resort town of Acapulco, killing four officers and three secretaries. One of the rifles used in the attack was traced back to the United States (guns without borders). Federal agents say about 90 percent of the 12000 pistols and rifles that the Mexican authorities recovered from drug dealers in the United States are mostly from Texas and Arizona (McKinley 1). Every gun smuggler captured is sent to prison, and the government has to house him and fed him, costing taxpayers thousands of dollars a year. Drug addiction costs the U.S. billions in health care. Greater independence from foreign oil would be a positive, and yes, cleaner air is good for your health, and most certainly, everyone loves lower gas prices. According to a spokesman from Pinnacle, a Halliburton service company, In the more than 60 years following those first treatments, more than two million fracturing treatments have been pumped with not one documented case of any treatment polluting an aquifer not one. ( Shooters A Fracking History ). This statement may lead you to believe there is no need for concern, but there is a big pink elephant in the room. Arguments against these statements would prove futile, at a first glance, but understanding the true cost, to the environment and our safety could prove more valuable than the money earned. The beginnings of our modern day fracking process reside in a U.S. Patent No. 59,936, issued to a Col. Edward Roberts, in November of 1866, during the civil war. Robert s idea, dubbed Exploding Torpedo , involved dropping artillery rounds down a well, filling it with water, to concentrate the concussion, thereby fracturing the surrounding rock, allowing for greater access to the gas or oil below. (Hicks, See an Exploding Torpedo ). This process has improved greatly and the Environmental Protection Agency now refers to hydraulic fracking as the entire process, from the gathering of water used until waste disposal. Johnson and The Great Society Lyndon Baines Johnson introduced the Great Society, a strategic plan of action to propose environmental cleanup, decreasing poverty, and helping to further fund education during his state of the union address in 1965 in a poetic manner. He spoke of it as a destination that the American people would work toward. Johnson s address gave many Americans hope and faith in a better world after feeling so much pain following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Americans were anxious to move forward as a nation in support of the changed Johnson proposed. The Great Society was a proposed plan of actions intended to benefit the American people. Johnson developed the Great Society in a utopian fashion that proposed programs concerning the cities, the environment and education which in return brought modern liberalism into turmoil and broadened the administrative state. Taking office after the assassination of John F. Kennedy put tremendous pressure on Johnson. Not only did he have his own ideas, he also needed to fulfill the legacy left by Kennedy. In order to do both, he created the Great Society. Johnson wished to create the glue that kept the American people together and according to Paul C. Aiken and John M.
