Closing The Real Estate Transaction
Closing the Real Estate Transaction
Closing is the final step required to complete a real estate transaction. Depending on the location and
type of property certain guidelines or requirements may apply, however, there are many common steps
within the process. This paper will present the following terms and their relation to closing: mortgage,
escrow, the preliminary report and inspection. Depending on the state guidelines, a closing can happen
at a title company with an escrow officer or at an attorney s office. Once a seller has officially
accepted an offer they will agree on a closing date with the buyer. At the time of closing, property
ownership is transferred to the buyer.
What does a Mortgage Mean?
Mortgage lending is a major sector with the United States financial market today. The modern
mortgage has only been around since the 1930s, but the idea of a mortgage has been around for a lot
longer. (History of Mortgages, 2016) The literal meaning of the word mortgage has Latin roots: mort
or death and gage or pledge. Translated it supports the idea that the pledge died once the loan was
repaid, and also the idea that the property was dead (or forfeit) if the loan wasn t repaid. (History of
Mortgages, 2016) A mortgage is an agreement for the terms of your home loan, technically not the
home loan itself. Real estate transactions require written documentation and this is the purpose of a
mortgage.

The Pros And Cons Of The Palestine-Israel Conflict
BBC, CNN, the Fox News etc. Many ordinary people get news or information from the newspaper, or
from these kinds of TV news, but these medias have the same features. They are famous and have
sponsors. What this means is that if they are famous and have sponsors, the way to tell people about
one incident is the way the sponsors want. For instance, there is Palestine Israel conflict, which Israel
is occupying the Palestinian land. However, because the Japanese, American and British news is all
for Israel, people almost never hear negative news of Israel. For centuries, there was no such conflict
between them, but this whole conflict grew due to the immigration of the Zionists, the extremist
minority of the Jewish population who colonized to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the reasons why the Palestine Israel conflict was made, was because of the United Kingdom.
That country made a deal with both Palestine and Israel, that the UK would help them make a new
country at a holy land. This was impossible to do, nevertheless, UK still tried to make it, but failed. If
the UK did not make a deal with both countries, this conflict and many incidents might be not
happening. Famous and major media news channel, newspaper, and website, BBC world news made a
news report that says Israeli Palestinian conflict: Is one homeland the solution? . This page was all
about what the Palestinian and the Israeli want to do and what they should do as a plan. It is
understandable that there should be many kinds of news, for instance, a news just summarizing the
fact, or a news interview, but to tell people about the fact, people should know the background
information. If there is no background information, it would be hard for the readers to understand the
deepness of topic or conflict. The reason to hide the background information from the readers is that
the topic is something that has some influence on the major media company, or the sponsor company.
For this case, because the BBC is in the UK, they hide the background information so that the UK
citizens would not think that their country is a bad country. Moreover, this can be said in a Japanese
media, too. Mr. Furuya, a social studies teacher in TGUISS, stated that Japanese history textbooks are
changed to avoid them from thinking that Japan is a bad country. What this means is that Japanese
history has original and abnormal history, but on the other hand, it sometimes was wrong as a
teaching. For instance, the teachings of World War II are impossible as a society nowadays, so when
the teachers teach about this, the children might think Japan is a bad

DonT Cry About Ick Laugh It Up With Clorox Case Study
Evaluation is the most rewarding aspects of creating a campaign; you finally can reap the benefits of
the hard work up to this point. For the Don t Cry About Ick...Laugh It Up With Clorox campaign,
reaching or exceeding the set outcomes from the objectives measured and explained success. The
evaluation measures were based on collection of analytics from the social media sites. The team s
measurement looked at outcomes as opposed to outputs. The team evaluated impressions and
engagement with the generated content.
Ultimately, the campaign increased connection, conversation and interaction, in addition to shifting
brand perception. The results of these specific increases from PRSA s case summary are detailed
below:
Increased connection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, visitors expressed a 10 percent increase in brand favorability.
From these results, it is obvious the campaign met and exceeded the team s established goal and
objectives. New Responsibles were now openly discussing and referencing Clorox and its products in
their on and off line conversations. Additionally, there was a change in purchase interest and brand
favorability. Consumers were willing and wanting to purchase Clorox products.
MY PERSPECTIVE
After considering the research, planning, implementation and evaluation of Clorox and Ketchum s
Don t Cry Over Ick...Laugh IT UP With Clorox campaign, I agree that it was effective and award
worthy. Throughout this critique, I discussed the strengths and weaknesses of the campaign,
occasionally inserting my own opinions as to what could have been done differently. I believe that the
strengths outweighed the weaknesses. Overall, the campaign s attention to detail, creative nature and
integration of online and offline strategies made this program a compelling award entry.
Together, Clorox and Ketchum were able identify the generation gap in Clorox s brand relevancy and
then close that gap by marketing with Millennials. The team s attention to detail and creativity was
crucial in the creation of the Ick tionary campaign. The PRSA summary of the campaign did not
mention that within this campaign the brand overhauled most of its websites to make the information

Huron Community Reflection
I found a quote about three years ago on a wall at my camp that has stuck with me ever since. Each
one of us can make a difference. Together we make change. The quote is by an American politician by
the name Barbara Mikulski and although I do not know what her personal beliefs are, personally this
is a mantra I aspire to live by. I want to make a difference in the world, and my first step out of high
school on that path would be at the Centre for Global Studies at Huron University College. I believe
that one of the things that makes Huron special is it s smaller size in comparison to many other
universities. I spent my first three years of high school in a large school with classes with as many as
35 40 students. It was quite difficult for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am extremely passionate about social justice issues and love to find other like minded people who I
can work with to raise awareness about issues that we are passionate about as. I have been working
with an organization called Free the Children since I was eight years old: helping with the club at my
school, attending We Day (a day of celebration in 3 5 major Canadian cities for students who have
made both local and global change commitments) five years in a row initially as an attendee and then
two times as a volunteer, and I also attended their social justice summer camp initially as a camper
and then I was chosen as a LIT or leader in training which may open up the doors to be on summer
staff there in the future. At this camp, I was invited to think critically about many social justice issues
and I gained leadership skills that built on the leadership skills I had already developed through my
five year experience as co captain of an elite soccer team. Coaches, camp counsellors and teachers
have referred to me as a natural, quiet leader who always motivates those around her. I want to be that
kind of leader at Huron and through example, provide a sense of dedication and commitment to

Ophelia Character Analysis
In the play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Ophelia, the daughter of Polonius, is seen as a fair
maiden who wants her love with Hamlet to be eternal. Due to the many warnings from her father
Polonius and her brother Laertes, she succumbs to her father s wishes and plays the role of a good
daughter, thus betraying Hamlet. Previously in the play where Hamlet gives his soliloquy on life and
death, Ophelia has been ordered to break off her relationship with Hamlet while Polonius eavesdrops
to prove that Hamlet has truly gone mad. As a result of Hamlet s supposed madness and Ophelia s
docile character during the confrontation, both of their fragile hearts shatter and Ophelia begins her
dark descent into madness, leading to her eventual death.
Throughout acts one and two of the play, Ophelia in Hamlet s eyes is seen as one of the only fair and
trustworthy outliers in the array of deception. After his soliloquy about life and death with its dark and
apathetic tone, there is a shift when Ophelia is in his presence. As Hamlet realizes his beloved is
approaching, he commands himself, Soft you now! to make sure Ophelia does not hear what he is
saying as if not to corrupt this beauty from heaven (Shakespeare III.i.86). His mood perks up and the
tone of his words become more endearing when he calls her a Nymph (III.i.87). Shakespeare s diction
here further builds upon how the audience sees their relationship. The positive connotation of this
word puts Ophelia on a pedestal while

Preoperational Stage
Another thing in my class I will design around preoperational stage is art. Art is a good way of
measuring the mental maturation of children as they grow. Art is a form of mental communication that
children in all walks of life, from all over the world tend to use to express thoughts and emotions.
Drawings, illustrations, shapes and colors are all used by children to describe what is happening in
their minds. Cooks and Cooks (2014) state that preoperational children s increasing ability to use
mental presentation is also seen clearly in the are they produce. For example, if a child were to draw
the same drawing at different ages, it would be seen that as the child mentally matures the more
detailed the drawings become. In my classroom, I will give the children a great deal of art supplies
such as paper, colored pencils, crayons, water based markers for them to draw on when they want. I
will encourage them to tell me about their drawing and what do they mean. I will limit the use of
workbooks and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the preoperational stage of development children have problems with conservation. Cooks and
Cooks (2014) assert that conservation is the understanding that some basic properties of objects
remain the same even when a transformation change the physical appearance (p. 241). However by
allowing the children to play with playdoh, build with sand and pour the same amount of water into
different size glass I am helping the children recognize the manipulation of physical object that can
change shape while keeping constant mass this is giving the children a chance to move toward the
understanding of conservation and two way logic, which they will need and use in the concrete
operational stage which is the next stage of their

Christian Anchor
The anchor in the Christian faith was previously symbolic of safety because of the importance in
navigation. More recently, the anchor has become a symbol of hope. Hope is extremely important in
the Christian faith since Christ is the infallible hope for all who believe in Him. Some of the early
fathers spoke of this in the same way, but the first time hope was associated with the anchor, was the
Epistle to the Hebrews. It was written that hope is an anchor for the soul, firm and secure (Hebrews
6:19).
An anchor can be defined as a heavy object attached to a rope and used to secure a boat to the sea
bottom. It symbolically reflects stability and confidence. Christianity teaches that these traits are
discovered in Christ. Those who follow

Grade Inflation And High Grades Inflation
Grade inflation, the idea that students are receiving grades that they have not worked for and therefore
don t deserve them. But what s so wrong about grade inflation? When learning about this subject we
also open the doors to learning about the multitude of other problems plaguing our educational system
that could use our attention much more than grade inflation does. Through grade inflation we re able
to understand problems often forgotten about and looked over. In the past colleges like Princeton and
Wellesley have tried to adopt policies to help curb grade inflation. Even though it lowered the
percentages of high grades, effectively lowering the amount of grade inflation, it came with the cost of
unforeseen consequences that affected the students and staff. In his article Rojstaczer describes the
policy that Princeton tried to adopt in which they ...limit[ed]ing A s on average to 35 percent of
students in a class. ( grade inflation gone wild , 75). This policy is extremely unfair on the students,
telling them that only a small percent of them will actually be able to get and A no matter how hard
they work. It is putting a limit on the students education and ruining their motivation to keep their
grades up if they know that there is a high percent chance that they won t make an A despite their hard
work. These attempts to fix the inflation has only in turn limited a student s education and potential,
causing greater issues. Since attempting to fight grade

Five nations, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States, have
collaborated in recent decades, in the construction of a massive signal monitoring network that spans
much of the world. This network is colloquially known as Echelon, and is capable of intercepting
almost any phone call anywhere in the world. It uses sophisticated voice recognition technologies and
simultaneously monitors untold millions of phone calls. If Echelon is looking for you, and you use a
phone, it will likely find you. We are not certain that Alex has engaged Echelon in his search for us. It
seems, in fact, rather unlikely that he has taken his efforts to that level. However, we do not feel we
can take the chance. The burner is for emergency use only. Even if Echelon is not in use, Alex still
likely has a flag on Julie s phone, and can flag any call she makes or receives. Any number that she
calls or that calls her will receive scrutiny. Refueled, refreshed and with a new clandestine spy widget
in hand, we drove into the city proper and soon arrived at the front entrance to the Venetian. Jill and
Estelle had agreed that they would attempt to find Julie and approach her. Since the rest of us did not

would return to our motel to await developments. We had no tool for communications other than to

The Complex Communication of Gibbons Essay
This article discusses the form of communication that Gibbon monkeys use amongst their species. The
argument that appears to be present throughout this article is that Gibbons are not only able to
communicate with each other, but also that their communication system shares certain features with
the human language system. Although I agree that this species communication system shares
particular design features with the human language, the definition of language attests that this type of
communication is not considered a language.
The first of the five core design features discussed throughout this paper is semanticity. Semanticity is
defined as specific sound signals that are directly tied to certain meanings (Bauer, 2006, pp. ... Show

However, I would argue the part of this design feature that deems this species communication as a
definite, closed system. For instance, researchers describe Gibbon songs as including varying pitches
that they use to combine up to seven notes to create more complex structures or phrases ( Singing for
Survival, 2006). In the human language system, the meaning of symbols and/or signals vary
depending on certain contexts and situations. It appears that Gibbons have some capability to change
their songs based on different situations they are engaging in such mating, warnings, etc. Therefore, I
ve concluded that these abilities demonstrate a certain amount of productivity. However, this species
does not the competency to use an unlimited amount of utterances, which would essentially eliminate
them from fully having this design feature in their communication system.
Displacement is a design feature of language that we as humans are able to use to reference the past,
future, and the hypothetical. It refers to the human language system s ability to communicate about
things that are not present spatially, temporally, and/or realistically. According to Language Matters ,
displacement is defined as the ability to talk about events remote in time and place (Bauer, 2006, pp.
49 57). Although

The European Union Of Ban Commercial Seal Products
Abstract
This paper delves into the disputes brought against the European Union by Canada and Norway. In
doing so, the specifics of the disputes will be discussed and the World Trade Organization s policies
and procedures that have thus far allowed for the European Union to ban commercial seal products
from these two countries. The research done on the topic of sealing will cover the regulations in both
the Canadian and Norwegian seal fishing and also how their communities are impacted economically.
The European Union s main argument is that neither of these countries regulations on humane killing
are efficient enough in ensuring that humane killings can occur at all times. Because of this, they
continue to defend that their regulations go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have several arguments, including the following: seal products from Canada and Norway are
treated less favorably compared to the European Union s (EU) domestic seal products and Greenland
s, the EU Seal Regime (measure that prohibits seal products into the EU) creates obstacles and trade
restrictions that are unnecessary and that some of the procedural requirements go against requirements
of the conformity assessment, Travellers conditions create quantitative restrictions on trade, and the
Regime hurts any benefits accrued to them under covered agreements (Panel Report, 2013). The EU,
on the other hand, claims that their Seal Regime meets obligations of the World Trade Organization
(WTO). Three conditions applied to seal products are as follows: the products were received from
seals hunted by Inuit or Indigenous communities, the products were received from seals hunted for
marine resource management, and travelers are allowed to bring seal products in limitation. The EU
claims that the regulations put into place in 2009 and 2010 were implemented because of public moral
concerns involving the welfare of seals; people should not cause suffering of animals without clear
justification (Europa, 2013). The EU argue that inconsistencies claimed by Canada and Norway within
the GATT 1994 should be considered as justified because they are working to protect public morals
and seals health. They also argue that, under the TBT Agreement, any

In the 1960s the American Heart Association debuted a film named
Eat to Your Heart s Content . This video brought national attention to saturated fats in the American
diet. It inspired an article in the 1969 *Farm
Journal* to ask the question, Do animal fats cause heart attacks? Up until the American Heart
Association released this video, no health or medical organization had recommended an overall
transition from saturated animal fats to unsaturated vegetable oils. According to the article in the
*Farm

instead eat low fat or vegetable based oils. The

Jersey cattle have a reputation of producing the sweetest milk and best tasting meat, they are less
popular due to their high fat content. Instead,
Holstein cattle are more popularly bread for their lower fat milk and Angus cattle dominate the beef
industry with lower fat quantity and a high muscle yield. Also, the traditional pig was no longer bred
to be so pot bellied .
This gave way to a more lean and muscular swine industry.
The modern American diet has generally accepted the theory of cholesterol containing foods
(saturated fats) causing heart disease and is submerged in a low fat, vegetable oil diet. Even though the
public has seemingly accepted this view, the scientific research community is still in disagreement.
The American Heart Association, today, takes the same stance it took in the 1960s with a recent quote
from their website stating:
Eating foods that contain saturated fats raises the level of cholesterol in your blood. High levels of
blood cholesterol increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. Be aware, too, that many foods high
in saturated fats are also high in cholesterol which raises your blood cholesterol even higher. Even
though this is the current opinion of the American Heart Association, many research experiments have
challenged it.

Internet Is A Safe Haven For Criminals Essay
Would you believe me if I said that ninety nine percent of the internet is not accessible to the average
web surfer via your standard networks and search engines? The internet is like the ocean, there is more
than meets the eye and houses many deep dark back door servers and markets that never reach the
surface. Some may not be informed of this part of the internet and question its existence, but the deep
and dark webs exist and are hidden for a reason. Parts of the deep web were created for good
intentions, and some parts of the deep web give users access to information that can be useful, but the
negative aspects that have come from the deep web outweigh the positive aspects, it is shown that the
deep web is home to dangerous activity unseen by the naked eye and has become a safe haven for
criminals.
First a run down of the internet, the internet is made up of millions of computers all over the world
that are digitally connected to each other by cable, fibre or wireless links, in short it is a bunch of
networks communicating with one another. You can use the internet to browse websites, communicate
with people, download pictures and videos, listen to music or do lots of other amazing things. Every
single one of those computers has what is called an IP address, the IP address is the unique set of
numbers separated by periods, for example 170.65.240.9, this number set identifies every device
connected to the Internet. This IP address is not only for desktop home computers,

Ancient China Research Paper
In 1,500 bc, the mathematicians of China were using numbers. Long before the people of India

they used is different than the one we use today, using ancient Chinese math, the number 465 would

advanced in geometry, this was proved in 600 BC, when the Tangram was invented. The Tangram is

In ancient times, believe it or not, they were used to tell stories. The pictures made by Tangrams can
be put in order to make a scene. You can arrange the shapes in any way, and trace the picture onto

Tangrams as the comic books of the ancient world. Quite truly, you can make any story, from
superheroes to mathematics. This is actually quite important, creating a story using geometric shapes
can actually improve your skills in geometry. That probably explains why they were so popular in
China. Scholars and artists thrown together are often annoyed at the puzzle of where they differ. Both
work from knowledge; but I suspect they differ most importantly in the way their knowledge is come
by. Scholars get theirs with conscientious thoroughness along projected lines of logic; poets theirs
cavalierly and as it happens in and out of books. They stick to nothing deliberately, but let what will
stick to them like burrs where they walk in the fields. Robert Frost. This quote highlights the fact that

Martin Roscheisen, CEO of Nanosolar must decide on the market they are going to focus, whether it s

* France is committed to renewable energy source, with the government setting a target of 20% of all
energy source to be renewable by 2020 * There is also a stable feed in tariff (being backed by the
government for 20 yrs) of $0.42/kWh * Taking into account a 1% (CPI in year 2008) decline year on
year, we have an average tariff of $0.38/kWh * But the market size remains small, with a meagre
potential of 300MW by 2011
Italy
* It also has feed in tariff (modelled on Germany s) of $0.59 for 20 yrs and declining annually at 2% *
This makes an average tariff of $0.49/kWh which is higher than the others * Moreover the market
potential is said to reach 3GW by 2016, this market is very lucrative and should definitely be a
potential target
United States Market * The major issue with the US market was the lack of a national framework for
feed in tariff, but many states has recently come up with their own policy * Florida came up with a
feed in tariff plan of $0.32/kWh for 20 yrs, but the most significant incentive for the manufacturers is
the 30% tax credit given by the government * This along with other federal support (such as loans and
rebates) provides the much needed push in the high potential market * With the effect of carbon tax set

Jackson vs. Calhoun and the Nullification Crisis
It has been rare in American history for presidents and vice presidents not to get along, but it has
happened on a few occasions: Adams and Jefferson, Kennedy and Johnson, and Eisenhower and
Nixon are a few examples (Jackson vs. Calhoun Part 1 1). However, the most controversial
relationship between president and his assistant was between Andrew Jackson and John C. Calhoun.
Their disagreements began very early on in Jackson s administration, and lasted until after the
resolution of the Nullification Crisis. Nullification is the refusal of a state to recognize a federal law
within its boundaries and deem that law unconstitutional. In this case, South Carolina, led by John C.
Calhoun, refused to recognize the protective tariffs in 1828, and ... Show more content on

We do further declare that we will not submit to the application of force on the part of the Federal
Government (Hamilton 1). Jackson, appalled by this direct threat to the Union and the Federal
Government, was determined to put Calhoun in his place and do anything he could to preserve the
Union.
Although Calhoun had stated in his Ordinance that South Carolina would not respond to any forceful
acts by the government to attempt to get Calhoun to back down, Jackson found a way to outsmart his
opponent. Jackson had congress pass a bill in 1833, which allowed him to use soldiers to enforce the
tariff measures (Nullification Crisis 1). After the Force Bill was passed, Jackson sent several warships
and hundreds of soldiers to Charleston to enforce the laws of the government. Some people argue that
what Jackson did was wrong because based on the constitution, Calhoun had the right to declare
Nullification for South Carolina. However, what Jackson did was also constitutional and enabled the
United States of America to remain as one. Had Jackson not passed the Force Bill immediately after
South Carolina s Ordinance was received, Calhoun s scheme may have succeeded and South Carolina

A Brief Note On Mexico s Agriculture Sector
Mexico s agriculture sector is renown in the international community for a myriad of goods that it
produces. From the cultivation of crops, sustainable soils, land usage and irrigation systems, its rich
land has helped Mexico s economy prosper into the 21st century. This feat is largely due to the
country s production and exportation of maize, one of their largest crops. However, in recent time
Mexico s agriculture sector has been affected by the vices of climate change and greenhouse emission
gases amongst other natural phenomenons. For the purpose of this paper the change of climatic
patterns in areas of temperature, precipitation and intensity will be discussed, as well as its correlation
to climate change and current weather trends, which have created unsustainable environments for
maize to grow.
Historically, Mexico s agriculture sector has followed a traditional style of crop production focused on
small scale farming. According to Luc Dendooven of the Center for Research and Advanced Studies at
the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico, traditional agriculture refer to the widely used
cultivation techniques that consist of low N fertilizer application rates, no or little irrigation, removal
of crop residue for animal feed or fuel, and little or no use of herbicides and pesticides (237). The
Mexican agricultural sector adapted this concept early on by utilizing basic natural resources such as
soil enrichment and rainfall. Such practice has been supported by author

My Favorite Trip At The Royal Palace Of Henry Viii
What a great weekend, I do not know which was my favorite event. One minute I was at the Royal
Palace of Henry VIII and another minute I was in Stonehenge. No matter what happen, I will
remember this weekend for the rest of my life. Thursday, we all woke up really early to travel to the
Royal Palace of Henry VIII. Our tour guide Heather, gave us the entire tour of the place. My favorite
part of the tour was the clock due to the fact it was a 24 hour clock telling which day, month, and
season it is. After the tour, we had two hours of free time and most of us wanted to see Henry VIII
toilet and all I can say is that toilets during that time was different than the ones now. When we all saw
the toilet, all the frat boys decided to go to the maze and we all race find the exit, which took us three
times longer since we passed by it three time. At the end, we all admit that Ryan Straub Fisher beat all
of us. Following a morning run, I decided to chow down on my first Fish Chips which the fish was so
tender and the batter was cooked spot on. After lunch, we were taken on a long bus journey to
Holbrook house where we are all going to stay for two nights. Tour guide Heather gave us an etiquette
dinner lesson, so they next time I dine with British people, I know what to expect. During dinner we
decided to dress up nicely and that dinner was a fabulous start to my weekend. After a wonderful
selection of Canapes and an Amuse Bouche, Our appetizer was a Wild Mushroom Veloute with

Figure Out Weather Earnings Management Is Fraud
Summary
The objective of this research paper is to figure out weather earnings management is fraud.
I included some information of earnings management first. Earnings management is managers
accounting choices. Managers may use different accounting techniques to create some opportunities
within the boundary of GAAP, so that they can make financial statements look better. I stated the top 5
techniques of earnings management and relevant examples:
The big Bath
Cookie jar reserves
Revenue recognition
Immaterial
Capitalization practice
Secondly, in order to figure out the relationship between fraud and earnings management, I find some
definition of fraud. It is an intentional conduct and materially mislead financial statements, which also
violate criminal and civil law.
Finally, after understanding the definition of fraud and earnings management, I found that earnings
management and fraud are similar. They all intent to distort financial statement. If we abuse earnings
management, it is easy to fall into fraud. Earnings management is a good point for us to analyze fraud
more, but it is still not a fraud because managers manage earnings within the boundaries of GAAP.
Introduction
The most important role of financial reports is to effectively communicate financial information to
outsiders in a timely and credible manner (FASB, 1984). Earnings are vital in financial statements
because earnings represent the company s value. Investors and creditors always look to

Robert Nozick s The Experience Machine poses the question: if you had the opportunity to be plugged
into a machine that would simulate a life you had prechosen, would you plug in? Nozick describes
being in the machine as a type of suicide and there are many reasons as to why this machine would be
just that. For example, human beings are inherently creatures that learn by observation, therefore, if
you have never observed or practiced what it is to be brave, loving, kind, or honest, you wouldn t have
the capacity in you to possess those traits. Another problem with this machine is that you re going to
know what comes next in your life . These good times would not seem so good, because you would

Overview of Common Core State Standards
COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS INITIATIVE OVERVIEW The Common Core State
Standards Initiative is an education initiative sponsored by the National Governors Association (NGA)
and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). The primary goal is to achieve consistent
content standards across the entire nation in order to ensure students are better prepared to enter
colleges and universities states as well and/or enter the workforce (Common Core State Standards
2014). In the 1990s, a movement began across the United States whereby individual states began
writing academic standards which outlined the academic content students were expected to know and
be able to master at the end of each grade level. Subject specific assessments were also designed and
implemented in order to measure whether students were meeting those standards (Gibbs, T. Howley,
A., 2000). In 1996, the nation s governors and various corporate leaders founded Achieve, Inc., as a
bipartisan effort to raise academic standards and graduation requirements, improve assessments, and
heighten academic accountability in all 50 states (Achieve, Inc. 1996). An Achieve, Inc. 2004 report,
titled, Ready or Not: Creating a High School Diploma That Counts, stated that both employers and
colleges were demanding more of high school graduates than in the past. According to Achieve, Inc.

More importantly, it is still useful because using this can be our basis in applying college admission

Since URAP is an academic performance based ranking, publication constitutes the basis of the
ranking methodology. All the bio metric data used in the URAP ranking were gathered from the

Add to it, the price of gas, the daily trip to the courthouse can be really expensive for a long trial. (

The End Of Apathy Analysis
Ram Parso Summer Assignment UHD 15 August 2015 The End of Apathy Apathy for change? Is an
ambivalent question that can be negative or positive, and I have noticed an obstacle in my community
that relates to the words care and change. Obstacles, hurdles, and complications tend to sound abrasive
in a manner, but the irony behind the true definition of those words leaves a person gratified with
morals and stories. Since the progression of human connectivity humans have evolved with the fast
pace of life which blocks will for change due to selfishness, laziness, and stupidity. In your

But the opposite; people have evolved from the Stone Age and has solved daunting conundrums which
proves that we are intelligent and eccentric and we do care about change. Imagine if Thomas Edison
didn t care to invent electricity despite failing a thousand times the new would not have all these

obstacles in our way, but we can change them like I mentioned. So in conclusion my sole message is
that apathy about change can be redefined, not as one inner disorder, but as a social barrier that
emphasizes disengagement. If we believe that one person trying to make a change is futile and our
neighbors are stupid, lazy, and selfish then there s no chance for change. So just like it s not easy to

Analyzing Seamus Heaney s Blackberry-Picking
The poem Blackberry Picking is about a young man s coming of age, and how the lesson he learns,
about picking blackberries, relates to the human realization that reality is not always how we want it to
be. Seamus Heaney illustrates this lesson by showing the narrator s unabiding desire for the
blackberries when he speaks of the lust for picking and how he was willing to go out in the fields to
pick the blackberries despite having to go where briars scratched and wet grass bleached our boots in
obvious discomfort (7 8,10). Furthermore, after the blackberries had turned bad the narrator clearly
tells us, each year I hoped they d keep, knew they would not (24). This final bit at the end shows how
the narrator matures and has come to accept ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first thing that is noticeable about the way Seamus wrote this poem is his use of rhyme or lack
thereof. He uses slant rhymes throughout most of the poem an example being sun and ripen on lines
one and two. This could be interpreted to portray how the speaker feels. The speaker wants the
blackberries to stay sweet despite his experience picking blackberries that would always end up
rotting. At the same time, the slant rhymes are so close to rhyming, but never fully do creating a
bittersweet feeling that symbolizes how the speaker loves the blackberries, but how he hates how they
rot. In the text this is reinforced when he says, I always felt like crying. It wasn t fair (22). Another
example of Seamus creating this bittersweet tone in the poem is how he uses iambic pentameter
throughout most of the poem, but similar to how the slant rhymes don t quite work, on every couple of
lines he breaks the meter and adds an extra syllable. This feeling is continued throughout the poem
until the second stanza when Seamus starts to correct these things. He does this by starting to write in
true iambic pentameter except for one time on line 21 when sour adds two extra syllables sustaining
the rhythm he built up, but still adding emphasis to the word sour. Seamus connects the bitter sweet or
sour tone to a line that is out of place. Eventually, the poem is exactly what it

The Adlerian Theory Essay
The Adlerian Theory Alfred Adler was the founder of Adlerian Counseling. He was born in 1870 in

That everyone strives for perfection, and everyone initially feels inferior to everyone else. He believed

That only children like being the center of adult attention, often have difficulty sharing with siblings

Adler, was to learn why clients think and behave the way they do; by gathering information about the

Middle Ages
There is a commonly held idea that the middle ages in Europe (476 CE 1500 CE) were a backwards
period of stagnation and scientific degeneracy, caused by the brutal suppression of science by the evil
Catholic Church, and eventually overcome due to the work of enlightened thinkers such as Galileo
and Newton. This idea of these dark ages has existed since the 14th century, and has continued to gain
popularity through the early modern era as historians used it to compare their enlightened times to the
dark and primitive ages of the past. While this narrative is not entirely without merit, the number of
manuscripts produced during this time period was significantly lower than the times proceeding it

In September of 476 CE the last Roman emperor of the west was deposed and with this, the already
failing, Western Roman Empire dissolved. As discussed in Dr.Peter Heather s analysis in Ancient
History in depth: The Fall of Rome, the effects of this were felt on nearly every level in Europe but
impeded the development of natural philosophy in three main ways. First is that Roman infrastructure,
which had previously allowed for trade and information to freely flow throughout the empire, was
suddenly no longer being maintained and defended. This left most philosophers cut off from each
other and unable to collaborate. Second is that the fall of Western Rome led to the immediate and
rapid de urbanization of Europe. This is because the loss of the strong central empire led to the region
almost immediately fragmenting into hundreds of small kingdoms. These kingdoms lacked the
professional military of Rome, and could not collect taxes or exert control over their subjects as Rome
did. With taxes no longer a major part of day to day life and unified Roman market for goods suddenly
non existent, much of the population turned to farming and spread out into more rural areas. Third is
that, with the loss of both the central Roman bureaucracy and market, literacy

year like Walgreens and Dollar General Stores. All of these new businesses need gables. Typically,
these businesses hit the market with huge budgets and specific requirements that Onyx Xteriors can
accommodate.
The United States has more than 500,000 hardware stores, siding distributors, roofing suppliers, home
improvement stores and many other businesses selling gable vents. With the building industry
exploding and the current devastating storms, current suppliers of gable vents are unable able to meet
existing demands. Onyx Xteriors can help fill this gap.
Distributors appreciate our aluminum gable vents. They are receptive to our product because of bad
experiences with our competitors gables. Typically, they list the same complaints.
Suppliers of galvanized vents do not ship the vents properly and the gables arrive with dents in them.
The gable vent supplier is shipping in 6 to 8 weeks.

  • 2. Closing The Real Estate Transaction Closing the Real Estate Transaction Closing is the final step required to complete a real estate transaction. Depending on the location and type of property certain guidelines or requirements may apply, however, there are many common steps within the process. This paper will present the following terms and their relation to closing: mortgage, escrow, the preliminary report and inspection. Depending on the state guidelines, a closing can happen at a title company with an escrow officer or at an attorney s office. Once a seller has officially accepted an offer they will agree on a closing date with the buyer. At the time of closing, property ownership is transferred to the buyer. What does a Mortgage Mean? Mortgage lending is a major sector with the United States financial market today. The modern mortgage has only been around since the 1930s, but the idea of a mortgage has been around for a lot longer. (History of Mortgages, 2016) The literal meaning of the word mortgage has Latin roots: mort or death and gage or pledge. Translated it supports the idea that the pledge died once the loan was repaid, and also the idea that the property was dead (or forfeit) if the loan wasn t repaid. (History of Mortgages, 2016) A mortgage is an agreement for the terms of your home loan, technically not the home loan itself. Real estate transactions require written documentation and this is the purpose of a mortgage. Most homeowners are not in a financial position ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Pros And Cons Of The Palestine-Israel Conflict BBC, CNN, the Fox News etc. Many ordinary people get news or information from the newspaper, or from these kinds of TV news, but these medias have the same features. They are famous and have sponsors. What this means is that if they are famous and have sponsors, the way to tell people about one incident is the way the sponsors want. For instance, there is Palestine Israel conflict, which Israel is occupying the Palestinian land. However, because the Japanese, American and British news is all for Israel, people almost never hear negative news of Israel. For centuries, there was no such conflict between them, but this whole conflict grew due to the immigration of the Zionists, the extremist minority of the Jewish population who colonized to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the reasons why the Palestine Israel conflict was made, was because of the United Kingdom. That country made a deal with both Palestine and Israel, that the UK would help them make a new country at a holy land. This was impossible to do, nevertheless, UK still tried to make it, but failed. If the UK did not make a deal with both countries, this conflict and many incidents might be not happening. Famous and major media news channel, newspaper, and website, BBC world news made a news report that says Israeli Palestinian conflict: Is one homeland the solution? . This page was all about what the Palestinian and the Israeli want to do and what they should do as a plan. It is understandable that there should be many kinds of news, for instance, a news just summarizing the fact, or a news interview, but to tell people about the fact, people should know the background information. If there is no background information, it would be hard for the readers to understand the deepness of topic or conflict. The reason to hide the background information from the readers is that the topic is something that has some influence on the major media company, or the sponsor company. For this case, because the BBC is in the UK, they hide the background information so that the UK citizens would not think that their country is a bad country. Moreover, this can be said in a Japanese media, too. Mr. Furuya, a social studies teacher in TGUISS, stated that Japanese history textbooks are changed to avoid them from thinking that Japan is a bad country. What this means is that Japanese history has original and abnormal history, but on the other hand, it sometimes was wrong as a teaching. For instance, the teachings of World War II are impossible as a society nowadays, so when the teachers teach about this, the children might think Japan is a bad ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For the Don t Cry About Ick...Laugh It Up With Clorox campaign, reaching or exceeding the set outcomes from the objectives measured and explained success. The evaluation measures were based on collection of analytics from the social media sites. The team s measurement looked at outcomes as opposed to outputs. New Responsibles were now openly discussing and referencing Clorox and its products in their on and off line conversations. Additionally, there was a change in purchase interest and brand favorability. Consumers were willing and wanting to purchase Clorox products. MY PERSPECTIVE After considering the research, planning, implementation and evaluation of Clorox and Ketchum s Don t Cry Over Ick...Laugh IT UP With Clorox campaign, I agree that it was effective and award worthy. Throughout this critique, I discussed the strengths and weaknesses of the campaign, occasionally inserting my own opinions as to what could have been done differently. I believe that the strengths outweighed the weaknesses. Overall, the campaign s attention to detail, creative nature and integration of online and offline strategies made this program a compelling award entry. Together, Clorox and Ketchum were able identify the generation gap in Clorox s brand relevancy and then close that gap by marketing with Millennials. The team s attention to detail and creativity was crucial in the creation of the Ick tionary campaign. I want to make a difference in the world, and my first step out of high school on that path would be at the Centre for Global Studies at Huron University College. • 6. Ophelia Character Analysis In the play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Ophelia, the daughter of Polonius, is seen as a fair maiden who wants her love with Hamlet to be eternal. Due to the many warnings from her father Polonius and her brother Laertes, she succumbs to her father s wishes and plays the role of a good daughter, thus betraying Hamlet. Previously in the play where Hamlet gives his soliloquy on life and death, Ophelia has been ordered to break off her relationship with Hamlet while Polonius eavesdrops to prove that Hamlet has truly gone mad. As a result of Hamlet s supposed madness and Ophelia s docile character during the confrontation, both of their fragile hearts shatter and Ophelia begins her dark descent into madness, leading to her eventual death. Throughout acts one and two of the play, Ophelia in Hamlet s eyes is seen as one of the only fair and trustworthy outliers in the array of deception. After his soliloquy about life and death with its dark and apathetic tone, there is a shift when Ophelia is in his presence. As Hamlet realizes his beloved is approaching, he commands himself, Soft you now! to make sure Ophelia does not hear what he is saying as if not to corrupt this beauty from heaven (Shakespeare III.i.86). His mood perks up and the tone of his words become more endearing when he calls her a Nymph (III.i.87). Shakespeare s diction here further builds upon how the audience sees their relationship. • 7. Preoperational Stage Another thing in my class I will design around preoperational stage is art. Art is a good way of measuring the mental maturation of children as they grow. Art is a form of mental communication that children in all walks of life, from all over the world tend to use to express thoughts and emotions. Drawings, illustrations, shapes and colors are all used by children to describe what is happening in their minds. Cooks and Cooks (2014) state that preoperational children s increasing ability to use mental presentation is also seen clearly in the are they produce. For example, if a child were to draw the same drawing at different ages, it would be seen that as the child mentally matures the more detailed the drawings become. In my classroom, I will give the children a great deal of art supplies such as paper, colored pencils, crayons, water based markers for them to draw on when they want. Hope is extremely important in the Christian faith since Christ is the infallible hope for all who believe in Him. Some of the early fathers spoke of this in the same way, but the first time hope was associated with the anchor, was the Epistle to the Hebrews. It was written that hope is an anchor for the soul, firm and secure (Hebrews 6:19). An anchor can be defined as a heavy object attached to a rope and used to secure a boat to the sea bottom. It symbolically reflects stability and confidence. Christianity teaches that these traits are discovered in Christ. Those who follow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Grade Inflation And High Grades Inflation Grade inflation, the idea that students are receiving grades that they have not worked for and therefore don t deserve them. But what s so wrong about grade inflation? When learning about this subject we also open the doors to learning about the multitude of other problems plaguing our educational system that could use our attention much more than grade inflation does. Through grade inflation we re able to understand problems often forgotten about and looked over. In the past colleges like Princeton and Wellesley have tried to adopt policies to help curb grade inflation. Even though it lowered the percentages of high grades, effectively lowering the amount of grade inflation, it came with the cost of unforeseen consequences that affected the students and staff. In his article Rojstaczer describes the policy that Princeton tried to adopt in which they ...limit[ed]ing A s on average to 35 percent of students in a class. ( grade inflation gone wild , 75). This policy is extremely unfair on the students, telling them that only a small percent of them will actually be able to get and A no matter how hard they work. It is putting a limit on the students education and ruining their motivation to keep their grades up if they know that there is a high percent chance that they won t make an A despite their hard work. These attempts to fix the inflation has only in turn limited a student s education and potential, causing greater issues. Since attempting to fight grade ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Complex Communication of Gibbons Essay This article discusses the form of communication that Gibbon monkeys use amongst their species. The argument that appears to be present throughout this article is that Gibbons are not only able to communicate with each other, but also that their communication system shares certain features with the human language system. Although I agree that this species communication system shares particular design features with the human language, the definition of language attests that this type of communication is not considered a language. The first of the five core design features discussed throughout this paper is semanticity. Semanticity is defined as specific sound signals that are directly tied to certain meanings (Bauer, 2006, pp. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, I would argue the part of this design feature that deems this species communication as a definite, closed system. For instance, researchers describe Gibbon songs as including varying pitches that they use to combine up to seven notes to create more complex structures or phrases ( Singing for Survival, 2006). In the human language system, the meaning of symbols and/or signals vary depending on certain contexts and situations. It appears that Gibbons have some capability to change their songs based on different situations they are engaging in such mating, warnings, etc. Therefore, I ve concluded that these abilities demonstrate a certain amount of productivity. However, this species does not the competency to use an unlimited amount of utterances, which would essentially eliminate them from fully having this design feature in their communication system. Displacement is a design feature of language that we as humans are able to use to reference the past, future, and the hypothetical. It refers to the human language system s ability to communicate about things that are not present spatially, temporally, and/or realistically. According to Language Matters , displacement is defined as the ability to talk about events remote in time and place (Bauer, 2006, pp. 49 57). Although ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The research done on the topic of sealing will cover the regulations in both the Canadian and Norwegian seal fishing and also how their communities are impacted economically. They have several arguments, including the following: seal products from Canada and Norway are treated less favorably compared to the European Union s (EU) domestic seal products and Greenland s, the EU Seal Regime (measure that prohibits seal products into the EU) creates obstacles and trade restrictions that are unnecessary and that some of the procedural requirements go against requirements of the conformity assessment, Travellers conditions create quantitative restrictions on trade, and the Regime hurts any benefits accrued to them under covered agreements (Panel Report, 2013). The EU, on the other hand, claims that their Seal Regime meets obligations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Three conditions applied to seal products are as follows: the products were received from seals hunted by Inuit or Indigenous communities, the products were received from seals hunted for marine resource management, and travelers are allowed to bring seal products in limitation. The EU claims that the regulations put into place in 2009 and 2010 were implemented because of public moral concerns involving the welfare of seals; people should not cause suffering of animals without clear justification (Europa, 2013). The EU argue that inconsistencies claimed by Canada and Norway within the GATT 1994 should be considered as justified because they are working to protect public morals and seals health. This video brought national attention to saturated fats in the American diet. It inspired an article in the 1969 *Farm Journal* to ask the question, Do animal fats cause heart attacks? Up until the American Heart Association released this video, no health or medical organization had recommended an overall transition from saturated animal fats to unsaturated vegetable oils. Instead, Holstein cattle are more popularly bread for their lower fat milk and Angus cattle dominate the beef industry with lower fat quantity and a high muscle yield. Also, the traditional pig was no longer bred to be so pot bellied . This gave way to a more lean and muscular swine industry. The modern American diet has generally accepted the theory of cholesterol containing foods (saturated fats) causing heart disease and is submerged in a low fat, vegetable oil diet. Even though the public has seemingly accepted this view, the scientific research community is still in disagreement. The American Heart Association, today, takes the same stance it took in the 1960s with a recent quote from their website stating: Eating foods that contain saturated fats raises the level of cholesterol in your blood. High levels of blood cholesterol increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. Be aware, too, that many foods high in saturated fats are also high in cholesterol which raises your blood cholesterol even higher. Internet Is A Safe Haven For Criminals Essay Would you believe me if I said that ninety nine percent of the internet is not accessible to the average web surfer via your standard networks and search engines? The internet is like the ocean, there is more than meets the eye and houses many deep dark back door servers and markets that never reach the surface. Some may not be informed of this part of the internet and question its existence, but the deep and dark webs exist and are hidden for a reason. Parts of the deep web were created for good intentions, and some parts of the deep web give users access to information that can be useful, but the negative aspects that have come from the deep web outweigh the positive aspects, it is shown that the deep web is home to dangerous activity unseen by the naked eye and has become a safe haven for criminals. First a run down of the internet, the internet is made up of millions of computers all over the world that are digitally connected to each other by cable, fibre or wireless links, in short it is a bunch of networks communicating with one another. Jackson vs. Calhoun and the Nullification Crisis It has been rare in American history for presidents and vice presidents not to get along, but it has happened on a few occasions: Adams and Jefferson, Kennedy and Johnson, and Eisenhower and Nixon are a few examples (Jackson vs. Calhoun Part 1 1). However, the most controversial relationship between president and his assistant was between Andrew Jackson and John C. Calhoun. Their disagreements began very early on in Jackson s administration, and lasted until after the resolution of the Nullification Crisis. Nullification is the refusal of a state to recognize a federal law within its boundaries and deem that law unconstitutional. In this case, South Carolina, led by John C. Calhoun, refused to recognize the protective tariffs in 1828, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We do further declare that we will not submit to the application of force on the part of the Federal Government (Hamilton 1). Jackson, appalled by this direct threat to the Union and the Federal Government, was determined to put Calhoun in his place and do anything he could to preserve the Union. Although Calhoun had stated in his Ordinance that South Carolina would not respond to any forceful acts by the government to attempt to get Calhoun to back down, Jackson found a way to outsmart his opponent. Jackson had congress pass a bill in 1833, which allowed him to use soldiers to enforce the tariff measures (Nullification Crisis 1). After the Force Bill was passed, Jackson sent several warships and hundreds of soldiers to Charleston to enforce the laws of the government. Some people argue that what Jackson did was wrong because based on the constitution, Calhoun had the right to declare Nullification for South Carolina. However, what Jackson did was also constitutional and enabled the United States of America to remain as one. • 21. A Brief Note On Mexico s Agriculture Sector Mexico s agriculture sector is renown in the international community for a myriad of goods that it produces. From the cultivation of crops, sustainable soils, land usage and irrigation systems, its rich land has helped Mexico s economy prosper into the 21st century. This feat is largely due to the country s production and exportation of maize, one of their largest crops. However, in recent time Mexico s agriculture sector has been affected by the vices of climate change and greenhouse emission gases amongst other natural phenomenons. For the purpose of this paper the change of climatic patterns in areas of temperature, precipitation and intensity will be discussed, as well as its correlation to climate change and current weather trends, which have created unsustainable environments for maize to grow. Historically, Mexico s agriculture sector has followed a traditional style of crop production focused on small scale farming. According to Luc Dendooven of the Center for Research and Advanced Studies at the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico, traditional agriculture refer to the widely used cultivation techniques that consist of low N fertilizer application rates, no or little irrigation, removal of crop residue for animal feed or fuel, and little or no use of herbicides and pesticides (237). The Mexican agricultural sector adapted this concept early on by utilizing basic natural resources such as soil enrichment and rainfall. Such practice has been supported by author ... One minute I was at the Royal Palace of Henry VIII and another minute I was in Stonehenge. No matter what happen, I will remember this weekend for the rest of my life. Thursday, we all woke up really early to travel to the Royal Palace of Henry VIII. Our tour guide Heather, gave us the entire tour of the place. My favorite part of the tour was the clock due to the fact it was a 24 hour clock telling which day, month, and season it is. After the tour, we had two hours of free time and most of us wanted to see Henry VIII toilet and all I can say is that toilets during that time was different than the ones now. When we all saw the toilet, all the frat boys decided to go to the maze and we all race find the exit, which took us three times longer since we passed by it three time. At the end, we all admit that Ryan Straub Fisher beat all of us. Following a morning run, I decided to chow down on my first Fish Chips which the fish was so tender and the batter was cooked spot on. After lunch, we were taken on a long bus journey to Holbrook house where we are all going to stay for two nights. Tour guide Heather gave us an etiquette dinner lesson, so they next time I dine with British people, I know what to expect. If we abuse earnings management, it is easy to fall into fraud. Overview of Common Core State Standards COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS INITIATIVE OVERVIEW The Common Core State Standards Initiative is an education initiative sponsored by the National Governors Association (NGA) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). The primary goal is to achieve consistent content standards across the entire nation in order to ensure students are better prepared to enter colleges and universities states as well and/or enter the workforce (Common Core State Standards 2014). In the 1990s, a movement began across the United States whereby individual states began writing academic standards which outlined the academic content students were expected to know and be able to master at the end of each grade level. Subject specific assessments were also designed and implemented in order to measure whether students were meeting those standards (Gibbs, T. Howley, A., 2000). In 1996, the nation s governors and various corporate leaders founded Achieve, Inc., as a bipartisan effort to raise academic standards and graduation requirements, improve assessments, and heighten academic accountability in all 50 states (Achieve, Inc. 1996). An Achieve, Inc. 2004 report, titled, Ready or Not: Creating a High School Diploma That Counts, stated that both employers and colleges were demanding more of high school graduates than in the past. Is an ambivalent question that can be negative or positive, and I have noticed an obstacle in my community that relates to the words care and change. Obstacles, hurdles, and complications tend to sound abrasive in a manner, but the irony behind the true definition of those words leaves a person gratified with morals and stories. Since the progression of human connectivity humans have evolved with the fast pace of life which blocks will for change due to selfishness, laziness, and stupidity. In your community How commonly do you hear that people don t care? Or How many times have You said I don t care! . But you care and so do the people; it s the stone hearted ... The environment we live has developed a habit of being or putting obstacles in our way, but we can change them like I mentioned. So in conclusion my sole message is that apathy about change can be redefined, not as one inner disorder, but as a social barrier that emphasizes disengagement. If we believe that one person trying to make a change is futile and our neighbors are stupid, lazy, and selfish then there s no chance for change. Seamus Heaney illustrates this lesson by showing the narrator s unabiding desire for the blackberries when he speaks of the lust for picking and how he was willing to go out in the fields to pick the blackberries despite having to go where briars scratched and wet grass bleached our boots in obvious discomfort (7 8,10). The first thing that is noticeable about the way Seamus wrote this poem is his use of rhyme or lack thereof. He uses slant rhymes throughout most of the poem an example being sun and ripen on lines one and two. This could be interpreted to portray how the speaker feels. The speaker wants the blackberries to stay sweet despite his experience picking blackberries that would always end up rotting. At the same time, the slant rhymes are so close to rhyming, but never fully do creating a bittersweet feeling that symbolizes how the speaker loves the blackberries, but how he hates how they rot. In the text this is reinforced when he says, I always felt like crying. It wasn t fair (22). Another example of Seamus creating this bittersweet tone in the poem is how he uses iambic pentameter throughout most of the poem, but similar to how the slant rhymes don t quite work, on every couple of lines he breaks the meter and adds an extra syllable. This feeling is continued throughout the poem until the second stanza when Seamus starts to correct these things. He does this by starting to write in true iambic pentameter except for one time on line 21 when sour adds two extra syllables sustaining the rhythm he built up, but still adding emphasis to the word sour. Seamus connects the bitter sweet or sour tone to a line that is out of place. Eventually, the poem is exactly what it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
