2. The Unknown Errors Of Our Lives By Chira Banerjee
The paper explores the different dimensions of Diaspora consciousness in Chitra Banerjee s short
story collection entitled The Unknown Errors of Our Lives. It shows that like other Diaspora texts
the short stories of the volume deal with many strands of immigrant experience undergone by the
female protagonists of the stories: uprootedness, utter alienation, perilous danger, racial
discrimination, afflicted hardships, immanent brooding of haunting tension, vain repentance,
irretrievable loss, constant homesickness, nostalgic longing, identity crisis, Trishanku existence,
cultural liminality and hybridised cultural identity.

3. Psychology Of Groups
The thought of sitting in a room filled with people who have similar interests and enjoy each other

There are many reasons why people may want to join groups and Bill Wasik, who writes
My Crowd Experiment: The Mob Experiment talks about some of the reasons why it seems
interesting to join one. People may want to join groups because they will not be bored, it can allow
someone to accomplish many things and feel good, and they can gain friends.
By joining a group, people can reduce the chances of being bored. It allows them to engage in

4. Mikhael Gorbachev Dbq Analysis
What came with the selection of Mikhael Gorbachev as the new Soviet Leader for the USSR
was the start of the turning point in the Cold War. This was as well met by the likes of Ronald
Reagan, who at first carried an anti communist rhetoric, progressively displaced his initial feeling
for the Soviet Union and begun to change his perceptions of his foes to the east. A compromising
negotiation was the overall goal of Gorbachev, which would hope to lead to reduce the risk of
nuclear war. Very different from his predecessors, Gorbachev resiliently worked with Reagan in
order to successfully come to peaceful relations. Although Ronald Regan had a role in the changing
dynamics of the cold warthat had taken place, more of the accolades must go to Mikhail Gorbachev
as he played a greater role in the improved relations between the USSR and the United States of

The Federalists could reached across the nation with their points and messages unlike their
opponents. They felt as if there should be a check and balance within the government that would
allow the country to thrive and grow. They wanted to insure that the joining of all the nations as
one large country under a power that could be dispensed between multiple parties within itself;
therefore, not allowing too much control by any one group. While there were a lot of things that
could be viewed as not in favor of the commoner or the poor they were still the lesser of two evils.
They stood for that they felt was right not just for the nation but also for the everyday citizen
including the ones deemed to be only property.
Conclusion:
The time of the U.S. Constitution and Articles of Confederation was a time of death, passion, and

As war impacts all aspects of the country involved, economy is one of the most heavily hit, as seen
in Germany through WWII. Before the Second World War Germany was deeply separated due to
the Treaty of Versailles which cut Germanys industrial west from it populous east. However Hitler
through his political acts wished to unify these halves of the same whole. As an act of unifying the
country Hitler placed the Jews and other undesirables at the center of the blame for the happening
in the German economy. Additionally, the persecution of the Jews skewed the data that is
represented today because of the alienation of the Jews as citizens they were not included in the
statistics collected at the time. Additionally, women were taken out of the data collection furthering
the false validity of the statistics presented by the Nazi Party. How did the persecution of the Jews

on the German economy? How did Hitler unifying Germany aid in its economic recovery? How
did Hitler s attempt at European domination lead to the defeat of Germany during WWII? How

9. The Effects Of Modern Film On Our Rational And Critical...
In twentieth century Germany, Frankfurt School philosophers fiercely debated the effects of
modern film on our rational and critical thought processes. Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorno
assert film is an oppressive technology that makes us intellectually docile, while Walter Benjamin
contests their assertion by recognizing film s liberatory potential. Although Horkheimer and Adorno
make important points about the current relationship between film and the masses, they fail to
acknowledge any possible changes to it. In the context of futurity, Benjamin presents a convincing
argument the technology of film can create subjectivities that will help the masses assimilate into
modernity. Horkheimer and Adorno s understanding of film reflects... Show more content on

Kantian schematism expects us to, from the first, relate sensuous multiplicity to fundamental
concepts (Horkheimer 98). Film, however, leaves the consumer nothing... to classify, since the
classification has already been preempted by the schematism of production (98). Because modern
film only presents classified information (pre cut, pre chewed, and pre swallowed bits of
information), there is no room for individual interpretation and critique. Horkheimer and Adorno
note how the spectator must need no thoughts of his own: the product prescribes each reaction, not
through actual coherence... any logical connection presupposing mental capacity is scrupulously
avoided (109). In prescribing the narratives of each action and reaction, Horkheimer and Adorno
argue film attempts to prevent individuals from utilizing their mental faculties (rational and critical
thought). That is, film forces the masses into a state of mental lethargy solely for commercial
pursuit of capital. Such is achieved by overstimulation; film is a stimulant concocted by the experts
which cannot escape the weary eye of the viewer (110). Succinctly put, Horkheimer and Adorno
detest modern film because it oppresses human thought by means of sensorial overstimulation. In

HOW DO YOU ENCOUNTER STATE AND CITIZENSHIP IN YOUR DAILY LIFE?
UNDERSTANDING STATE:
The modern word state has been derived from the word status earlier employed by Teutons. It was
Niccolo Machiavelli who first used the term state in political science. From the beginning of social
life, mankind has lived under some kind of authority. The authority has varied in its nature and has
exercised its function through different forms of organisation. Beneath these differences in the
concrete manifestation of political lifemay be observed a practical identity of purpose, and by

Politically organized people of a definite territory iii. An organization of public law that is
monopolistic over the use of violence against a group or population iv. An organization which in
internal matters carries out its function through a unified set of institutions known as the government
.
ELEMENTS OF THE STATE:
The state, as said earlier may be viewed as both a concrete thing and an abstract idea. A concrete
thing means that it is specific human group or association and viewed in abstract terms, it is a
corporation possessing a juristic personality. The state is composed of both physical and
metaphysical elements. These elements are:
i.A group of human beings, i.e. population (population) ii. A territory upon which they permanently
reside (territory) iii. Internal sovereignty and independence from foreign control (sovereignty) iv. A
political organization or agency through which the collective will of the population is expressed,
i.e. government (government)
Absence of any one of these elements nullifies the state: all must exist together. The state is not
people, nor the land nor the government, but all of them in addition; the state must possess that
unity which makes it a distinct and independent political entity. These features are common to all
states, irrespective of their historically specific manifestation. For e.g., it applies to the Greek City
states, the medieval kingdom, the modern monarchy and all the other kinds of states that

11. Food Additives And Its Effects On The Modern World
People who live in the modern world can readily enjoy a variety of delicious foods such as
hamburgers, macaroni and cheese, and even sushi rolls. These meals, in many cases, do not
require people to spend much time to prepare them. Instead of time consuming preparation,
people only have to mix up all packed ingredients and then put them into a microwave. In respect
of sushi roles, they are usually sold after every cooking process is finished. In other words, all
consumers have to do is just open up the package. Because these prepared foodproducts are
processed in big factories, most people who prefer to eat these dishes do not seem to know how to
cook them from scratch. However, during industrial manufacturing, ingredients that are usually not
found in the house kitchen are used frequentlyв€’food additives. Food additives are eatable
chemicals which make food appetizing and keep it fresh. The final goal to utilize these chemicals
is to save production cost. For instance, strawberry gummies people eat are usually flavored with
food additives to mimic strawberrish smell, taste, and color. Manufacturers paint gummies with red,
orange, blue, and green dyebecause the cost of food dyes is incredibly cheaper than the cost of real
fruit to flavorthe same amount of gummies. Alternatively, orange juice is another typical example

Generalized Discontinuous PWM for Three Level T NPC Inverters Operating at Low

Subhadeep Bhattacharya, Student Member, IEEE, Diego Mascarella, Member, IEEE, Geza Joos,
Fellow, IEEE, and Jianhong Xu, Member, IEEE
Abstract Conventional three level discontinuous pulse width modulation (DPWM) techniques are
typically employed in variable frequency drive applications to reduce inverter switching losses and
provide maximum benefit for load power factor angles in the range from 30В° lagging to 30В°
leading. This paper proposes a series of DPWM templates for lower power factors and a
generalized DPWM strategy for three level T NPC inverters operating with modulation indices
lower than 0.5. With a change in the power factor, the proposed strategy adapts the inverter pulse
sequence by combining different portions of the proposed DPWM templates within one
fundamental cycle and ensures minimum switching instances during transitions. Consequently, the
strategy perfectly aligns the no switching durations of the inverter pulse patterns with the
respective load current peaks, achieving a 50% switching loss reduction for all operating power
factor angles (90В° lagging to 90В° leading) at modulation indices lower than 0.5. The paper
provides an analytical evaluation of the proposed strategy on the three level T NPC inverter
switching losses. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the

Abortion has become very common in the past couple of years. In fact, research has shown that
one out of three women in the United States have an abortion by the time they are 45 years old

performed in the United States. One kind of abortionis the in clinic abortion, which is a medical
procedure that will end pregnancyin a safe and effective way, generally costing about three
hundred to $950 dollars during the first trimester (Abortion ). The second kind of abortion
available in the United States is the abortion pill. The abortion pill will require the woman to
take medicines to end an early pregnancy, which it is also said to be safe and effective. The cost
of the pill will range from three hundred to eight hundred dollars. The abortion pill may be used
up to 63 day (9 weeks) after the women s last period. (Abortion ). If the woman s pregnancy is
more than nine weeks an in clinic abortion will be performed, in order to end the pregnancy.
Abortion has come a long way throughout the years and has always been a controversial topic.
Abortion is controversial because they are the liberal minded individuals that believe abortion
should be a decision made only by the pregnant women. There are also the more conservative

Research and Design This study will use a true experimental design because it allows the
researcher to exercise better control over research variables. This design ultimately strengthens
the inference of causality. To prove with confidence that changes in the dependent variable were
caused by the independent variable rather than sampling error, the research design must meet
three criteria (Nieswiadomy, 2012). The three criteria are: 1) the researcher manipulates the
experimental variable; 2) at least one experimental and one comparison group are included; and
3) the subjects are randomly assigned to either group, (Nieswiadomy, 2012). A type of true
experimental design is the posttest only control group design. The posttest only design is
appropriate for this study because the participants will be randomly assigned to groups and will
be given two different treatments, (Nieswiadomy, 2012). The experimental group will receive
clinically indicated replacement of their PIV while the comparison group will receive routine PIV
replacement every 72 96 hours. The posttest will include a daily assessment for phlebitis up to 48

Coetzee writes Waiting for the Barbarians through the point of view of the Magistrate of an
unnamed Empire. The Empire resembles a colonialist regime that views itself as both superior to
and in opposition with the neighboring barbarians. At first, the Magistrate is largely oblivious to
the violence and torture carried out by officers of the Empire, believing that Colonel Joll finds out
the truthabout the barbarians (4). The Magistrate treats the line between truth and falsehood as clear
and absolute, something that can be thoroughly investigated and uncovered. However, his view

first lies, then pressure, then more lies, then more pressure, then the break, then more pressure, then

quickly becomes apparent that Colonel Joll is interested in a specific version of the truth. He treats
the barbariansubjects as objects and uses them as a means to an end, with the belief that truth is
reached through the application of the greatest possible pain. After extreme torture, the barbarians
become willing to admit to Joll whatever he designates as the truth and reaffirm his hypotheses. The

23. Comparing The Reproductive And Urinary System
Reproductive and Urinary Systems The reproductive and urinary systems are just two of the
eleven body systems that make up who we are. Each of these systems is comprised of certain
organs, muscles and nerves. The reproductive system contains organs that are found on the inside
and outside of both males and females and they work together to create babies. The reproductive
system is an important system in the body. The male reproductive system is made up of several
parts. These parts are the penis, scrotum, testicles, epididymis, vas deferens, ejaculatory ducts,
urethra, seminal vesicles, prostate gland, bulbourethral glands and the bladder (WebMD, 2015).

Muscles in the ureter walls constantly tighten and relax to move urine away from the kidneys.
Tiny quantities of urine are emptied into the bladder from the ureters every ten to fifteen
seconds (LiveScience, 2015). The bladder is a hollow organ found in the pelvis and held in
place by ligaments and the pelvic bone. The bladder holds urine until the brain tells the bladder
that it is ready to be emptied. A healthy bladder can hold up to sixteen ounces of urine
comfortably for two to five hours (WebMD, 2015). . To avoid drainage muscles called sphincters
close firmly around the opening of the bladder into the urethra, the tube that allows urine to pass
outside of the body. The only difference between the male and female urinary system is the length
of the urethra. In females the urethra is about one and half to two inches long and sits between the
clitoris and the vagina (LiveScience, 2015). In males, it runs the length of the penis and is about
eight inches long and opens at the end of the penis (LiveScience,

24. Theme Of Enduring Appeal For King Lear
Shakespearian plays like King Lear have enduring appeal because of their universal and timeless
themes.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Support your answer with reference to
the text.
The universal nature of the themes explored in the works of William Shakespeare endow them
with lasting appeal. They feature ideas which are as relevant today as they were in Shakespeare s
time, and this is one of the many reasons why modern audiences are still drawn to plays like King
Lear , where ideas of corruption, power, social inequality and society s attitude toward the elderly
take centre stage.
A timeless theme featured in the play is that of corruption within the justice system. Police brutality,

In the pursuit of power, Regan, Goneril and Edmund are corrupted and turn to violence and
manipulation to sate their greed and lust. Once they have achieved their goals, they lose what little
empathy they had left, allowing them to justify their treatment of both Lear and Gloucester. Regan
and Goneril employ glib and oily arts to gain their dowries, yet the unflinching devotion they
express for their father in the love test is nowhere to be seen when they humiliate and bully him
until he is driven mad. Edmund similarly manipulates his credulous father and noble brother in
order to gain his brother s inheritance for himself. The unflinching and violent desire for power
shown by these characters is a timeless theme, not just in literature but throughout history, giving
the play its continuing appeal.
The gap between the rich and poor continues to widen. In the play, this inequality is revealed by
Edgar who describes the low farms and poor pelting villages that make up the country. This
image of the land is a stark contrast to how Lear saw his kingdom in the opening scene, which he
describes as plentiful, rich and fair . It is only when Lear is driven out into the storm that he too
can acknowledge the reality of life for the poor whose houseless heads are exposed to the elements.

It would continue until there was no one left. Harry breathed a sigh of relief, when they took the

Even though Franklin D. Roosevelt has accomplished many things in his lifetime, he struggled

27. The Scientific Reasoning Behind Seatbelts
Motion is how everything in the universe moves, movement of the solar system never stops and
is constantly moving but at a very slow speed. There are three laws in motion that explain
movement, they are the Newton s three laws of motion named after Isaac Newton. The Newton
s first law states that an object that is a rest will stay at rest unless an outside force is acted upon
it and an object that is in motion will stay in motion unless an outside force is acted upon it. This
is also called as inertia , which means the property of an object to restrict its motion. Examples
of inertia would be when a car is driving at a constant speed and instantly stops the person will
fall forward if there is no seatbelt. The seatbelt is a safety device that is commonly found on car
seats and aircraft seats, it is made from strong durable materials such as fabric, nylon or
polyester. Cars that are manufactured are required to have seatbelts due to road safety laws. The
law was introduced in the 1970s, it was shown that having seatbelts reduced the amount of road
deaths. The seatbelt was invented by George Cayley in the 1800 s, the seatbelt appeared on
planes in the 1900 s but was later developed to a three point seatbelt by Nils Bohlin. The purpose
of seatbelts is to save lives during a sudden stop of movement. The seatbelt was designed to
restrain the person from forward motion that may occur in a collision or a sudden stop. Wearing a
seatbelt is the simplest way to reduce death or

30. The World Where Steam Power Is The Primary Form Of Energy
Imagine a world where steam power is the primary form of energy, where Victorian style is still
in full bloom, and where technology is king, yet it is not the technology of today, but the
technology of today as the Victorians might have imagined it. Add in a hefty dose of gears and
mechanical parts, a large helping of fantasy and science fiction and top it all off with alternate
history as it might have been , and you will have the steampunkworld.
Steampunk started as a subgenre of science fiction and alternate history back in the 1980s, and was
a fairly underground subculture until recently. Growing in popularity, steampunk is close to
mainstream now; with clothing, furniture, decorating items and films all designed to suit the
Victorian, yet modern sensibility. Despite its climb to conventional, steampunk still relies on an
individual outlook, a taste for modifying and adapting secondhand objects and a sense of humor
and whimsy.
A steampunk themed bedroom is a great choice for anyone who loves the Victorian style, marches
to the beat of their own drummer or just loves the anachronistic/futuristic look.

The landscape changed quite drastically as we left the lush rainforest behind and entered the

32. A Closer Look at The Book of Acts Essay
Acts 2:42 47 is a direct model for the Christian Church today. These verses are a clear example of
faith in action. The Holy Spirit s effect on the early church and apostles brought teaching,
fellowship, the breaking of bread and prayer into fruition. The real life love shown shouts to the
21st century church s need to refocus on these basic tenants. This passage is a summary of the life
of the early church. The four contexts in which the modern church can draw knowledge to
incorporate these heart felt actions are historical context, literary contexts, interpretation and
application. Although technically anonymous, most biblical scholars agree that the book of Acts

The Holy Spirit was also the Comforter of the believers. In the same year the Holy Spirit was sent
to earth in place of Jesus, the Roman Emperor, Nero was rumored to have started the fire which
burned most of Rome to the ground. Nero looked for someone to blame and decided to make his
scapegoat the Christians. He began to persecute Christians by feeding them to lions in front of
thousands of people in Rome s amphitheater which had apparently not been destroyed by the fire.
Persecution was ironically one of the causes of the early church growth in Acts chapter two. The
Christians in Acts 2 totaled to 3,120 people after the sermon given by Peter at Pentecost. The
120 people are from chapter 1 verse 15 and the 3,000 were added after the sermon in chapter 2
verses 14 41. The sermon began after the coming of the Holy Spirit and the apostles had spoken
in other languages. Men mocked them saying they were filled with new wine (2:13), or drunk.
Peter stood and declared they were not drunk and then began to preach. He told them Jesus was
God s Son who was sent to earth to save them and they had crucified him. However, God raised
him up from the dead because it was impossible for him to be held by death. The people of
Jerusalem were cut to the heart (36) by Peter s words. He exhorted them saying, Save yourselves
from this crooked generation (40). Three thousand people came to know Jesus as their Savior and
were baptized after Peter s sermon. These 3,000

They rejected the lexical activation hypothesis stating that the generation effect may be dependent
upon familiarity and associations of the to be remembered items with other words and concepts.
Therefore, would the generation effect occur for low frequency words if they were more familiar

Furthermore, the aim of this report is to carry out the experiment on the word frequency in
generation effect and to find out whether there is generation effect for low frequency words and
whether the difference between word frequency level has an influence on the occurrence of the
generation effect.
Hypothesis 1 : the generation effect will be present with low frequency words.
Hypothesis 2: the generation effect is smaller for low frequency words than for high frequency
words.
Null hypothesis 1: there will be no generation effect for low frequency words.
Null hypothesis 2: there will be no difference between generation effect in low and high frequency
words.
METHOD

Overall, this approach is indicative of the importance of the customer to the organization. It has
another benefit as well. When a small company uses multiple salespeople to contact a client it helps
the company appear larger than it is (Lumen, n.d.). There are a couple of types of media the
organization should use. First, submit the software to www.cnet.com for review. This will provide
a point of reference for anyone researching animation software and provide impartial judgment on
the merits of the software. Second, contact ideal customers and schedule a presentation of the new
advanced software. Once complete, offer a sample version of the software (with reduced
functionality) so it can be operated prior to purchasing the full version. Since there are many small
companies that create video games and other animation, I suggest attending trade shows. According
to the Animation World Network website, there are 19 tradeshows in the next 3 months (Events,
n.d.). The organization can also attend shows frequented by animators such as the E3 and South by
Southwest conferences. The proper use of these methods will ensure the news of this innovative
animation software reaches the intended target audience. While this plan works in this scenario, it
does not necessarily apply to all products.

F, it is important that leaders exercise professional advocacy and authenticity as well as power and
influence when working with co workers because first, all leaders need to be advocates for their
patients and staff members. By doing so, they demonstrate support to their patients and staff
members, which create a good impression in the nursing profession. Second, authenticity can
impact not only the nursing workforce and the profession but also the healthcare delivery

Should ECT Be Used in Psychiatric Treatment? In 1938 two Italians neuropsychiatric introduced
a new form of treatment involving the use of electroshock to patients diagnosed with different
types of metal disorders covering major depressive disorders, catatonia, mania and
schizophrenia, gaining popularity in the 1940 and 50 s as an option treatment for mental
disorders (Shorter, 2007). The treatment consist of a series of electric shocks directly aimed at
the brain for the sole intention of triggering brief sessions of seizures, changing the chemistry
inside the brain and hopefully reversing the symptoms of certain mental disorders (MayoClinic,

mental illness, and involves the use of high electric shocks under general anesthesia 2 to 3 times
a week for 3 weeks, and with maintenance once a week for up to a year in order to reduce
relapses (MayoClinic, 13). With most medical treatments there are positive results and negative

side of ECT treatment is the rate of success and the satisfaction of the patients treated with ECT,

Control estimates that each year roughly 1 in 6 Americans gets sick, 128,000 are hospitalized, and
3,000 die of foodborne diseases (Center for Disease Control and Prevention). Industrial agriculture
operations are striving to maximize their production and profit, with putting no importance on the
safety and quality of their food. Factory farming also shows no disregards to human health.
Industrial farms also provoke many environmental issues. The practices of Industrial Agriculture
are harmful when it comes to waste management. Since they have such a large amount of
animals in one area is un natural, the waste becomes uncontrollable. For instance, a swine
produces about 17.5 pounds of waste each day (Loehr 26). Put 1,000 hogs together, and that s
six million pounds of waste each year. On a factory farm containing 35,000 hogs, over four
million pounds of waste are produced each week and over 200 million pounds each year. Whereas
on a sustainable farm animal waste can be a tool, in factory farm amounts it becomes a major
pollutant (Sustainable Versus Industrial). All the waste that is produced has an enormous impact on
the environment. The air, water, and soil are affected in the area around the factory farms. The
manure can be beneficial in some cases, but not

44. Effects Of The War On Drugs
The war on drugs plunged Mexico into violent depths in 2005, especially along its northern border.
Drug related homicides soared, and former elite soldiers on the payroll of a drug cartel were
responsible for numerous kidnappings and killings. Murder victims tortured bodies frequently
appeared on roadsides in key drug trafficking hubs throughout the country and scores more victims,
including more than 40 U.S. citizens, vanished without a trace. From within maximum security
prisons, cartel leaders continued to run their illegal enterprises, killing rival inmates and ordering
hits on enemies beyond the prison walls. Wild shootouts erupted on city streets as police and
soldiers battled criminals, who on occasion were themselves law enforcement

45. Aquaporin-2
The aquaporin water channel was only identified recently. Review how it was discovered, its
structures and its role in the disease diabetes insipidus.
Aquaporins are essential plasma membrane proteins that form pores in the membranes of
biological cells, allowing for the transportation of water across the plasma membrane due to
osmotic gradients. These water channels are of great significance in monitoring the water contents
of cells and are widely dispersed in all kingdoms of life plants, mammals and bacteria; as well as
being associated with the kidneys, lungs and skeletal muscle. With that having been said, there are
approximately over ten various aquaporin water channels located within the human body, as well as
the discovery that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as discussed above, mutations in aquaporins can also lead to other medical problems
such as diabetes insipidus, which can be treated through the use of modified antidiuretic hormone
medications. The medications are however dependent on the overall health and the extent of the
disease. (Deepika et al. 2015) With that having been said, aquaporins are more so beneficial to
those individuals who are treated with mutated aquaporins for their medical problem as they
would be able to live a relatively normal lifestyle and not be limited to perform everyday

46. The Feminist Theory Of Fargo By The Coen Brothers
Scrolling through Netflix trying to pick a movie, viewers can generally get the idea of the
movie based on the title shown. The first thought that popped into my head after reading the title
Fargo , was how far would an individual strive to achieve and/or accomplish a goal or mission
and how far would that individual run if caught in a unforeseen circumstance. The 1996 film
Fargo by the Coen Brothers, explores a handful of themes such as, life, death and evil. The idea
of the movie is that the main character Jerry Lundegaard is a car sales man and is not very good
at his job. He is shown no respect from his wife and child and his boss, which is also his father in
law. The film takes place in a small town in Minnesota. This essay will explore the Feminist and
Marxist theory, seen through this film Fargo and its characters. The Feminist theory and
Marxist theory are mainly seen through the characters Marge, the police officer and Jerry the
main character, which the entire movie revolves around. In the Coen Brother s 1996 film Fargo
, Jerry is a pathetic car salesman who is financially unstable, plans to have his wife kidnapped so
he can cash in on some money. A business deal about to go sour Jerry, hires two goons for the
kidnapping. Along with Jerry being very nervous and jumpy all the time, no one has any idea why
or what, Jerry needs the money for. With Jerry s father in law being a successful businessman and

47. The Game Theory of Baseball
Decision making in Baseball Baseball is a great game to analyze from game theory perspective
because of the scale of strategic decisions that are continuously made on the fields and each play.
In every play, there are various players (baseball players, coaches, team managers and owners)
with different goals and payoffs, and thousands of pitch by pitch decisions are made in course of
an at bat, inning, game, and season. Major League Baseball, one of the four major professional
sports leagues of North America, is the most suitable platform for analysis because statistical
information is tracked for almost every single complexion of the game. In the following paper, we
choose to inspect one at bat decision of a single game in detail as a... Show more content on

In general, for defense side, minimizing opponent s batting average would be the priority. In
this case, the optimal choice for Leyland is to choose Porcello against Ortiz with lowest BA
.286. However, the situation here is not that simple. As Ortiz representing tie run, minimizing
his slugging rate would be more essential than his batting average because a long hit (slugging)
would cause greater damage; Tigers was 5 1 lead which was situation that single is more
acceptable than extra base hit because a single might only cause they lost 2 runs and a extra base
hit might cause 3 or 4 runs. Thus, considering minimum damage as priority, using Benoit would
be the optimal choice for Leyland, same as we figured out in last paragraph. In the report of Jim
Caple ii, Benoit is our guy against lefties and we felt he gave us the best chance to get the out,
Leyland said.
Benoit v.s. Ortiz Following the conclusion from our game tree, Leyland chose to use Benoit in to
face Ortiz. In order to analyze the theoretic decisions in this at bat, we will look at the possible
outcomes and decisions on pitch by pitch basis. In order to inspect pitch selection issues, we will
set the payoff based on Runs Above Average (RAA). RAA measures a hitter s ability to create runs
based on the pitch that

48. Treating Asthma
Asthma treatment is consistent with care along a continuum which may change at any time to
accommodate the individual s current symptoms. The clinical based guidelines consist of step by
step guidelines with varying treatments arranged by age and organized by the severity and the
addition of pharmacological therapies (NAEPP, 2007). The process of treating asthmahas been
proven most successful with the NAEPP clinical guidelines. The NAEPP guidelines provide a
holistic approach to caring for individuals suffering from asthma. Treatment consists of assessing
and monitoring the severity of one s asthma, the provision of patient education to assist with self
management, assisting with the need to control one s environmental risk factors, the... Show more

Follow up treatment or assessment has been identified as the single most beneficial aspect to
ensuring one s asthma is well controlled (Axelsson et al., 2015). Follow up with individuals
should take place between 2 6 weeks of acute exacerbation and between 1 3 month intervals
regularly (NAEPP, 2007). Evaluation and changes in treatment are recommended based on
assessment of one s adherence to medication regimens and management of environmental factors
(NAEPP, 2007). Once it is established if the individual is maintaining adherence and controlling
environmental factors but the individual s asthma that is not well controlled a one step up
method of treatment is recommended and a two step up approach for very poorly controlled
individuals (NAEPP, 2007). Asthma well controlled should be evaluated and concluded
controlled for 3 months prior to changes in medication regimens (NAEPP, 2007). After 3 months
of well controlled asthma, an individual s medication regimen may be stepped down by 1 step and
the dose of ICS s may be reduced by 25 percent every 3 months until the lowest control dose is
reached (NAEPP, 2007).
In the event asthma is no longer manageable by a primary clinician the need for a referral may be
require. Referral to an asthma specialist for management is recommended if there are
complications achieving or maintaining control of asthma. Also, if the patient required more than 2
uses of oral systemic corticosteroids in 1 year or has required hospitalization it is imperative for
the individual to be referred for further management (NAEPP,

species were surveyed by the UV vis DRS technique, and the results are shown in Fig 6. All the
spectra were obtained by deducting the spectrum of the support UiO 66. For comparison, the
UV vis DRS spectrum of bulk WO3 is also presented, exhibiting a strong absorption band at 450
nm with a weak shoulder at 360 nm, accompanied by relatively weaker bands at 230 and 280 nm
(Fig. 6A a), and these bands are attributed to crystalline WO3, isolated WO4 tetrahedral species,

appear in two different states in 40 wt% WO3/UiO 66 material. The peaks with the binding
energies at 35.3 and 37.5 eV are associated with W5+ species, whereas the peaks at 34.6 and 36.8
eV can be assigned to W6+ species. The corresponding results for 15 wt% B2O3 40 wt% WO3

positions for the W4f peaks, except for the minor charging effect. Both W5+ and W6+ species
are detected; however, the molar ratio of W6+/W5+ calculated according to the relative peak
intensity of W4f increases from 2.1 to 2.2 (Table 2) after the introduction of B2O3 species as an

The group of friends encounter many difficulties when trying to be successful in the city, and go
through numerous awkward situations too. The plot of the sitcom Friends is one of the main
reasons that the sitcom lasted a long time. An article titled 5 Generic TV Sitcom Plots That Will

when friends and relatives become involved, pregnancy problems, annoying friends, and when
the one that got away returns ( 5 Generic TV 1). Friends includes every single one of these
situations. The friends Phoebe and Monica work together in a restaurant. This causes problems
for Monica because Phoebe slows the cooking process down. Monica eventually has to figure out
a way to fire Phoebe which causes tension throughout the sitcom. Tension also arose between
Chandler and Joey when Joey found out that Chandler had kissed on of his sisters. Even more
tension came about when Joey discovered that Chandler did not even know the name of the sister
he kissed. Another awkward situation included in the sitcom is when Ross and Rachel face
pregnancy problems. When Rachel and Ross had a fling, Rachel became pregnant. They had been

51. Eye Contact
Eye Contact
Books and articles that have been written about speech delivery include the immediacy behavior of
making good eye contact. Eye contact is necessary for conversation and public speaking. However,
eye contact is a learned behavior and the duration of eye contact varies within different cultures.
American parents have taught their children to make eye contact but not to stare, because staring is
rude in the American culture. As you walk down the halls at college or in a department store, you
look at a person in the eye, nod, and then look away. If you are talking to an American and do not
make eye contact, it will make you appear uninterested or dishonest. However, a person who was
raised in Japan may become uneasy if you make eye contact (Richmond McCroskey, 2000).
Furthermore, in different countries around the globe, eye contact ... Show more content on

Good eye contact is an ambiguous idea. Ridiculous advice has been given about how to appear
to connect to the audience if a speaker has difficulty making eye contact. For example, authors
have suggested that you look on the wall behind the audience, spanning back and forth, so it will
seem that you are looking throughout the crowd. Spanning back and forth will only give your
audience motion sickness, and they will look down or away to avoid this uncomfortable
situation. Another suggestion is that you look at a spot on a person s shirt or at an audience
member s forehead. If you stare at a woman s shirt, she may think that you have diverted your
eyes to parts of her body that it is inappropriate to stare at. If you look at the foreheads of your
audience, this could be a distraction. Those who do not feel comfortable looking at people in the
eye need to break themselves of this, and look at people in the eye. This is not to stare. Make
appropriate eye contact that is appropriate to the culture you are

Some example degrees that people pursue are Medical, Law, Business, Accounting, and Science

government subsidy, tuition fees, and donations. All the income that are received is strictly used
for institution purposes. Some examples are professors, staff, maintenance, utilities, or even
computers that the school needs and student needs. All the money is given back to the institution

53. Fixed Rate Mortgage Loans
When shopping for a mortgage loan, the first thing to consider is which type of mortgage is
right for you. Mortgage loans come in two basic categories, fixed rate and adjustable rate; but
within these two categories, there are several other possible loan types that many consumers
mistakenly don t take the proper time to educate themselves about. In this article, we will be
addressing fixed rate loans. Most people know what the terms of a fixed rate mortgage entails;
basically, the interest rate remains stable over the life of the loan. Fixed rate loans generally
come in both a 15 year and 30 year term. Recently, some lenders also began offer both 10 year
and 40 year terms as well. So which term is better? That really depends on the borrower. Shorter
terms will have a higher payment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The payment on this loan for a 30 year, fixed rate loan would be $536.82 per month. Generally,
the shorter the term the lower the rate, so the payment for the same $100,000 loan on a 15 year,
fixed rate at an interest rate of 4.75% would be $777.83 per month or $241.01 higher than the 30
year loan. Some people that can afford the 15 year rate might opt to pay the extra $241.01 and
pay off their mortgage in half the time, the only problem with this is once you sign up for the 15
year term you must make this payment each and every month. If the extra $241.01 becomes
difficult to make no matter what the reason, the only way to reduce the payment is to refinance
the property. However, knowing this loan has no prepayment penalty in part means if you opt
for the lower, 30 year payment, you are still free to pay the extra $241.01 every month if you can
afford it. Even at the higher rate of 5%, if you paid the $777.83 each month, the 30 year loan
would be paid off in full in 15 years and 5 months. However, if at anytime you couldn t afford the
extra $241.01, there would be no penalty and you could avoid the cost of refinancing

54. A Report On Aluminum Recycling
Aluminum recycling is the process by which scrap aluminum is reprocessed to be used in products
after its initial production. Aluminum producers and recyclers in the aluminum industry work with
individuals, businesses, and communities to enable both curbside and industrial recycling
programs. For most aluminum products, the metal is not consumed during the products lifetime,
but it is simply used making it easy to recycle without losing its intrinsic properties. Used beverage
container (UBC) recyclingis the most recognized of the aluminum recycling programs. However,
end of life recycling of certain products like building parts and cars allows for the production of
recycled materials like window frames, wire, tubing and electronic parts. The following is step by
step process of aluminum recycling:
Collection of Scrap Aluminum
Drinks cans, aluminum foil trays, and aerosol cans are collected from homes, streets and garbage
collection centres by hired individuals or business people who major in aluminum collection. They
are sometimes mixed with steel cans. The scrap aluminum is then collected together and then it is
transported to the treatment plant.
Sorting
The mixed metals (aluminum and steel cans) are taken to a materials recovery facility where they
are cleaned, sorted into different metal streams and later compressed into bales. This step is very
important in ensuring that the aluminum is separated from other metals. It is important to point out
that drink cans

55. A Sociological Approach To Understanding Crime And Deviancy
The definition you find of the term labelling theory is that a sociological approach to
understanding crime and deviancy which refers to the social processes through which certain
individuals are stereotyped to act in certain ways and are responded to accordingly. Such reactions
tend to reinforce a self conception as deviant and has the unanticipated consequence of promoting
the behaviour that is designed to prevent. Unlike traditional approaches which assume that the
causes of crime and deviance lie either within the biological or psychological characteristics of
individual offenders or within their socio economic circumstance, labelling argues that
criminological analysis should begin with how people come to be defined as deviant and then
examine the implications that such definitions hold for the future offending behaviour. Such
argument is now widely associated with the work of Howard Becker (Becker, 1963) who famously
claimed that behaviour only becomes deviant when it is labelled and treated as such and that
labelling creatures and perpetuates deviant careers . Traces of such approach can be found
throughout the nineteenth century. Henry Mayhew argued that overzealous policing was a
significant factor in the creation of juvenile delinquency in the mid nineteenth century. A theme as
such are now widely repeated in the recurrent and popular claims that prisons are colleges of crime
and that when people are treated as criminal they are more likely to act in that

56. The Nsa s National Security Agency
The National Security Agency s (NSA) warrantless collection of metadata has been questioned on
constitutional grounds. Specifically, the NSA s program has been argued to be in violation of the
Fourth Amendment of the Constitution, which states that all citizens are to be free from any
unreasonable search or seizure. Proponents of the NSA s collection of metadata believe that it is a
crucial tool in preventing terrorist attacks, while opponents of the program believe that its
questionable constitutional validity, along with its lack of clear success in preventing a single
terrorist attack, leaves the NSA s metadata collection program in desperate need of reform or
outright abolishment.
I.THE NSA S PURPOSE AND THE EVOLUTION OF GOVERNMENT SURVEILLANCE It is
important to note what the NSA is tasked to do before discussing the constitutional arguments
against its metadata program. As Abdulmajeed Alhogbani, in his work, Going Dark: Scratching the
Surface of Government Surveillance, informs, the agency has two tasks: 1) information assurance,
which prevents foreign agents from obtaining classified information, and 2) signals intelligence,
which collects and analyzes foreign intelligence (475). Metadata collection does not fall under
either of these tasks.
Prior to the establishment of the National Security Agency in 1952, the earliest surveillance measure
enacted in the United States was the Communications Act of 1934, which centralized the regulatory
process of
