The Debate on Abortion Laws in the United States
There are always a number of heated debates within the United States. These debates area always
a hot topic and very controversial issues. Due to how controversial they are is why they become
such largely debated topics with many people having very different views on the specific topic.
For example there is a Democratic and Republican party in the United States people either stick
with one side or the other due to their beliefs and sometimes can be neutral or on the other party s
side for certain topics. Abortionis a very controversial topic as it always has been all around the
country but more specifically in the United States. There are two sides to the debate those who
believe abortion should be legal and their organization is known as prochoice. On the other side
there are the group of people who believe that abortion should not be legal and reverse the laws
from what they are today this organization is known as prolife. It seems as though both of the
organizations are very extreme while there can be some people who a neutral and believe in
some ideas from the prochoice yet they also agree with some of the ideas from prolife. The two
sides to the debate on abortion are known as pro choice and pro life although this topic is very
controversial, today there is also a history of abortion laws and a very important case known as
Roe vs. Wade which played a huge role in determining what laws on abortion are in the present.
Additionally, the case of Roe vs. Wade was a

How Did Monarchs Influence The Tudor Period
From nine days to forty five years, the reigns of the monarchs during the Tudor period were
different and impactful. This period in England between 1485 and 1603 was home to many of
the great monarchs, nobles, and civilians of the world. The monarchs in Tudor England shaped
the period that is known so well today for its culture and power. They controlled the religion,
military, and culture in a way that was unrivaled by anyone in their time. The monarchs shaped the
Tudor period into a time remembered for culture, war, and religion in a way that nobles and
civilians could not match. The Tudor period of England was home to many monarchs that each
changed England in very different ways. The first monarch of this period was King Henry VII. He...

Youth Civic Engagement
Over the course of years, society has reached a point where violence is considered a typical
manifestation. Year after year, we witness many lives end due to useless reasons. Many strategists
have pondered over different strategies of overcoming this battle, but yet, none has come to
succeed. It s time that our future generation of young, bright minds step up to their role in society
and become more engaged in their civic duties to promote the cohesion and tranquility of their
environment. As young people s civic and political participation continues to decline, communities
around the globe are taking many initiatives to reverse this devastating issue by promoting many
opportunities to engage young people through a variety of methods that allow the youth to actually
participate in their community. Such tactics are policy development and taking action on local
issues. The effectiveness of such notions might take many years to show realization.

The Culture Of National Culture
What is Culture?
Essentially, culture is the set of values, beliefs, rules, and institutions held by a group of people
(Wild and Wild 2016, p.70). Oftentimes, culture is thought of in terms of National Culture. National
Culture is sustained and encouraged by nation states through the construction of monuments,
museums and other buildings, which protect the heritages of significant events and people (Wild
and Wild 2016, p.70). They also play a role in ensuring business decisions preserve cultural
treasures, such as in the case of heritage listed sites or buildings (Wild and Wild 2016, p.70).
National Culture consists of six dimensions, which represent independent preferences that

Culture is made up of a number of building blocks, which provide a much fuller understanding
than what is distinctly national (Wild and Wild 2016, p.73). These components are: aesthetics,
values and attitudes, manners and customs, social structure, religion, personal communication,
education and, physical and material environments (Wild and Wild 2016, p.73). Values are
ideas and beliefs to which people have an emotional attachment; they affect work ethic and
materialism (Wild and Wild 2016, p.74). Attitudes are influenced by underlying values and are
positive or negative reactions towards ideas or objects (Wild and Wild 2016, p.74). Attitudes are
more flexible than values and often change over time as people mature and have different
experiences. Aesthetics are what a culture considers good taste in the arts. It includes the use of
colour, symbols and materials (Wild and Wild 2016, p.74). Manners involve what are considered
appropriate ways of dressing, speaking, and behaving in a certain culture (Wild and Wild 2016,
p.75). It is of particular importance when conducting international business. Customs are specific
patterns of behaviour in particular circumstances, which have been passed down through the
generations of a culture (Wild and Wild 2016, p.75). Customs may either be from folk culture or
from popular culture (Wild and Wild 2016, p.75). Social Structure represents the primary

Essay about Assessment
Assessment for Used Car Negotiation Simulation
Summary
My target for this negotiation was to get the car at $4,500, the low end of blue book value.
$4,500 could be the net price, which means if seller can offer something else, such as maintenance
service, parts or accessories to offset some part of the cost, I can accept higher price. My BATNA is
to deal with other seller for similar used car. Eventually, I couldn t make any deal with seller
during the negotiation because he wanted to sell at $5,000 and his extra accessory offer is not
worth $500. And I found out that this car s timing belt has not been changed. It should have been
replaced right after 100k mileages and it will cost about $600.

Considering the high mileage of the car, the timing belt should be replaced immediately and it cost
about $600. Seller was not willing to bear the cost. This made me have to think about my BATNA.
My BATNA is dealing with other similar car owners. That means I don t have to make
commitment to buy this car. So I think it was the time to end the negotiation in a polite way to
keep the contact because I may come back to talk to him if other offers are even worse. Finally we
didn t make any deal during this negotiation.
What worked for me?
Clearly sorting out the real needs in my mind and my budget limit is very helpful to figure out
target car model, price range, other considerations, alternative solutions, etc.
Making a right negotiation strategy based on Lewicki, Hiam, and Olander s analysis model. From
their model, I think I should deploy a competitive negotiation strategy in this case. This is a win
lose strategy. My purpose is to win at all cost. I should spend time to prepare the negotiation as
much as possible. I have no much concern about future state of relationship with seller.
Researching on line helped to know the market price, the maintenance options, the accessory
value and other choice for similar cars. That made me have BATNA because I know I can get
similar car from other source and I do not have to commit to buy at end the

Outlook There are many forces which have shaped the development of the US counterintelligence
strategy over the years. These forces run the spectrum from emotion to computers to new threats not
thought of even 30 years ago. The United States has been conducting counterintelligence operations
for as long as it has had a means of conducting intelligence operations. George Washington
understood the importance of conducting counterintelligence operations. He created the Culper Spy

pivotal role considering today s threats.

Short Essay The most controversial and discussed subject in the Holy Bible would be the
subject of spiritual gifts. Spiritual gifts are gifts of God enabling the Christians to perform his
or her...services in church (Elwell, 2001, pg.1135). Spiritual gifts are given by God to help
complete His work here on earth and also glorify His name. When we are chosen to by God to
receive these spiritual gifts, He expects us to use those gifts in fulfilling His commission, building
up the churches, and giving back to Him. That gifts are given for the common good, that the church

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is when the Holy Spirit blesses someone with his presence after
they have been saved. It is a very emotional experience in which the person feels the presence of
the Holy Spirit. A biblical evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is in second chapter of Acts
where the disciples were sitting together in the upper room and they were filled with the Holy
Spirit and they began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Speaking in tongues
is one of the things that happens when the Holy Spirit has baptizes us; it shows the presence of
God is with the person. Speaking in tongues is not a necessary sign of the baptism of the Holy
Spirit in my opinion, although it did happened to the disciples when they got baptized with the
Holy Spirit. The gift of speaking in tongues does not really mean that the Holy Spirit baptizes one.
It truly is one of the gifts that the Holy Spirit gives, but it is not the only gift that appears once
someone has been baptized.
I believe that the speaking in tongues is valid still today because the bible speaks on it and doesn t
state that we shouldn t speak in tongues. 1 Corinthians 14:5 states, I wish you all spoke with
tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than who speaks with
tongues... (New King James Version). Though this verse is a bit confusing for my understanding, the

Contributions Of The Founding Fathers
All of the founding fathers of the United States were great because they acted on their values and
beliefs, helping to sow the seeds of a new nation. The work of the founding fathers became
instrumental for independence from the British Crown. Being willing to stand up to Britain was no
small feat, making the deeds of the founding fathers even more admirable. The founding fathers will
be celebrated throughout history for their contribution not just to America but to the world.
Although many men and women can be considered instrumental to founding the nation, there are
seven key players that most historians identify as being the founding fathers. Those seven include
George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, James
Monroe, and Ben Franklin. All seven of the founding fathers and their contributions are important.
Therefore, it can be helpful to compare and contrast three of them such as Washington, Hamilton,
and Franklin to better appreciate the ways their diverse talents, skills, and philosophies helped to
create a nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all people are created equal.
Not all the founding fathers became presidents, but all were leaders in their own ways by
capitalizing on their strengths and areas of specialization. Two of the founding fathers that were not
presidents but who were nevertheless instrumental to creating the United States were Benjamin
Franklin and Alexander Hamilton. Benjamin

Sexual Orientation Cons
The debates on lesbian, gay, bi sexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights currently center around the
question of whether sexual orientation is a matter of choice, or not. If it is claimed that sexual
orientation is something that was handed down at birth and not a matter of choice, then, the act of
discrimination against this person would be wrong. The dispute draws on countless research
suggesting that sexual orientationis congenital. The anti gayideologues exploit these arguments. In
my mind, this is not up for debate. I have known and served with men and women who have
fought this fight for a very long time. I personally do not have an issue working or serving with

Assisted living helps each person value life to its fullest potential. When it comes to making an

The Importance Of Doing Business In Canada
Doing business in Canada is often synonymous with North American business practices. In most
cases there is little difference in managerial style, business language and approach to agreements
whether you re standing in Calgary, Alberta or Chicago, Illinois. There is an exception to this
general principle however. Doing business in indigenous communities and with indigenous peoples
in Canadais almost unrecognizable from models used across North America. Indigenous culture is
different, the values are different, and the measure of time is different. This paper will briefly

There are no cold, unemotional deals in these communities; as such, trust and communication
become key elements to managing business relationships in Indian Country . (Edworthy, 2014)
Many of the trust issues have nothing to do with the partners at the table, but are latent cultural
issues as a result of intrusive legislation and regulation. (Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada,
2014) Communication with indigenous peoples can present unique challenges as well. As English
and business English are not the first languages used by indigenous peoples, long pauses and quiet
tones are often used when Western culture would dictate otherwise. Prolonged eye contact, a sign of
genuineness in western culture, can be enough to cause mistrust and discomfort among indigenous
peoples so strongly that it could jeopardize nearly completed business arrangements and
agreements. (Joseph, 2015) It is critical that research into the individual communities and their
customs be conducted by the proponents prior to making contact. This extra time can avoid costly

Romeo Dallaire, “Cri de coeur” Essay
Romeo Dallaire, Cri de coeur , A Argument of Truths
Dallaire did exceptional when it comes to the naming of his essay, by not only simplifying the
subject but maintaining the true meaning. Cri de coeur, also known as A cry from the heart , is
not only heartbreaking but truthfully eye opening. Every event recounted is straight from
Dallaire s point of view, which could have made his rhetorical appeals intertwine. It is clear from
reading that one appeal stood above the rest while reading, which is pathos. Dallaire decided to
share something with the world that a majority have never experienced nor hopefully will ever

Being able to see both sides of him definitely improves the overall meaning to the memoir.
Therefore we, as the readers, are not only being held to see just one perspective and feel simply
just one feeling. Dallaire does amazing when it comes to opening himself up, and by doing so,
letting others into a world and story that once was hidden.
Having been so open about his feelings and the events that occurred within Rwanda, therefore
bound to surface just how disappointed he was, with not only the government, but mostly with
himself. He recalls and describes events that not only shock, but disturb the majority of the
readers. The biggest parts of the whole essay that truly emotionally connected to people in more
ways than one would have to be the description of the young orphaned boy and the way the
government talks about the situation. We will recommend to our government not to intervene as
the risks are high and all that is here are humans. (Dallaire, 502, 18) Being able to look at the
devastating chaos and be able to say all that is here are humans. As if humans young or old, black
or white, male or female, aren t worth our time and oh so valuable finances. If Dallaire did not
have readers attentions before his point, it is guaranteed he did afterwards.

expressing to her loved one that she wants to be remembered when she passes and wishes for
him not to be grieving of her presence being no more, but yet, wants him to smile of the

3.1 Intangibility
Intangibility means the incapacity to assess the value gained from using an intangible service
where it can t be seen, touched, tasted, smelled or stored (Palmer, 2000). In intangibility there
are two different aspects that could be looked into which is the search quality and experience.
The search quality is when they observe the product without experiencing it at first hand. In
reality they would know what they would want to rent like for example kayaks, canoes or a
motorboat by only looking at it but have not experienced it yet. The experience is when the
customer has rented the tangible product and has had an experience using it while being able to
assess whether it is satisfactory or not. Once the service rented is satisfactory, the customers
would tend to return to the same place as they would have confidence on the service obtained.
Services are harder to market to potential customers compared to goods as there is no physical
evidence to showcase. This is where the advertisements, brochures and customers word of mouth
play a big role. The advertisements and brochures has to be crystal clear and direct to capture the
attention of potential customers, giving them an idea of the services that might be purchased,
which in this case is rental of various boats.

Comparing My Fair Lady And Miss Congeniality
In the world, there seems to be two levels of conflict. One conflict involves having a common
war shared among multiple individuals, and the other incorporates more personal issues. For
instance, many women across the globe feel inferior to men; however, some feel apt to change
the way things are or how they adapt to the situation. Some women are satisfied with how their
lives are, but there are some that will go the extra mile to see some fresh, new adjustments. In
My Fair Lady and Miss Congeniality, there seems to be evidence of intertextual elements
intertwined within both films through the aspects of character motives, conflicts, and setting.
The characters of both films are revealed by their words and actions. The characters Eliza
Doolittle and Professor Henry Higgins from My Fair Lady seem to have obvious comparisons to
Gracie Hart and Victor Melling from Miss Congeniality. When looking at Eliza and Gracie, not

Radio Frequency Identification ( Rfid ) Essay
Abstract Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a technology for automated identification of
people and products, and is getting more involved in our daily lives. RFID consists of a RFID tag
or transponder, a RFID reader or transceiver, and the data processing system has been evolving with
time. RFID technology is also helpful when used with money, but there is a main limitation while
using RFIDtechnology. It is privacy and security. That is why, Electrical and computer engineers
work with this limitation, so RFID would be the future for all engineers.
Index Terms RFID Electromagnetics, term paper I.INTRODUCTION
For many people, using a card to access a building or a door, a key to start a car or validating an
underground ticket have become a routine without realizing that they are making use of a
technology that captures data because of the magnetic field. The technology is known as Radio
Frequency IDentification or RFID. [1] Just as people use RFID in their daily lives, this
technology is also used in objects, as the travel from manufacture to storage and finally the point
of sale. Also, they carry RFID tags like people do. People show their RFID cards and objects don t.
These tags are read in different ways and need greater detection distances.
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) can be defined as an automatic identification technology
which uses radio frequency electromagnetic fields to identify objects carrying tags when they come
close to a reader. [2]

Art As A Form Of Self-Expression
Is art a form of self expression from the artist to their audience? Self expression is defined as, the
expression of one s feelings, thoughts, or ideas, especially in writing, art, music, or dance. (English
Oxford Dictionary). The source of inspiration for art is unknown for certain, but it is commonly
believed that it comes from inside the artist, based on their life lessons and experiences. If the
inspiration comes from within, then artists are expressing themselves through their art, thus art
is self expression. There are innumerous forms of art, from writing to dancing; singing to
creating a drawing, public speaking and everything in between. A person who is whistling is
expressing how they are feeling through the notes that they hit. Someone who is drawing can
use darker colors, such as browns and blacks to give off an eerie tone. Does that mean that all art
is self expression? No, not all art is self expression, maybe it isn t self expression at all. This
leads to the debate over whether art is self expression if the inspiration comes from an outside
source, rather than from within. When an artist attempts to express their self feelings through
their art, a special emotion is evoked if the art comes from deep within. There is a
distinguishable difference between art that comes from within and art that is inspired by an
outside source. Plato believes that artists are possessed by someone or something, rather than
their inspiration coming from inside. This means that art would not be self expressional, as it
isn t coming from within the artist s mind, but rather an exterior source. In Plato s book, Ion,
Socrates explains to Ion, that: ...speaking well about Homer; it s a divine power that moves you,
as a Magnetic stone moves iron rings. (Plato, Ion, 18). In this analogy, Socrates is attempting to
explain to Ion that his ability to be well versed in the study of Homer is not due to his own
inspiration and aspirations, but rather because of a divine power that gives him this ability. In the
text, Plato talked about how Ion would light up when talking about Homer, showing that he may
be possessed by Homer. Ion is drawn in towards Homer as a fish is to the hook with bait on it.

Nellis Range Complex Case Study
Somewhere in the remote Nevada desert is a chunk of land some six miles wide north to south and
ten miles east to west. On that land is located a paradox: A secret base that everyone knows about.
Area 51 is a parcel of land in the Nellis Range Complex located about 30 miles south of the town of
Rachel, Nevada. In Area 51, near the dry bed of Groom Lake, is a test facility for military aircraft.
It is a base was so secret that even though it had been there over forty years it wasn t until 1994 that
the government confirmed that it existed.
At the border of Area 51 are no trespassing signs that warn that the use of deadly force is authorized.

The SR 71 was designed totally in secret. With a top speed of over Mach 3 (three times the speed
of sound, more than 2,200 miles an hour) it was, and remains, the fastest aircraft ever built. It went
into service in the mid sixties and was only recently retired. During that entire time no SR 71 was
ever caught and shot down. Some speculate that the
Black Bird s successor is in test at Groom Lake right now.
Over that last decade Area 51 has also come to be associated with UFO s. There were stories that
a flying saucer, that allegedly crashed at Roswell, New Mexico, had been brought to the Nellis
Complex and was under study. This tale as further bolstered by the story of Bob Lazer.
In 1986 a gentleman named Bob Lazer went to the press. He claimed that he was a former
government physicist and had been assigned to work in a secret underground base, designated S4 ,
that was about
15 miles south of Groom Lake at a place called Papoose Lake. (This is just north of Yucca and

The Nfl s Vikings And The Minnesota Metropolitan Sports...
In 2013, the NFL s Vikings and the The Minnesota Metropolitan Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA)
agreed to construction guidelines for the new Vikings stadium. Replacing the eyesore of the Hubert
H. Humphrey Metrodome, the new stadium called for a modern design with a glass façade that
would reflect Minneapoliss downtown. While the design seemed innocuous to most, ornithologists
immediately objected to the plan: large expanses of glass would confuse migrating birds by
reflecting the sky. The birds would careen into the stadium, injuring or killing themselves. The
MinnesotaAudubon Society became a champion for the issue, launching a campaign calling for the
stadium to be constructed with less reflective, birdsafe glass. The installation... Show more content

They advocated for the installation of bird safe fritted glass, which would cost just one tenth of
one percent of the stadium s total cost to install. Additionally, they demanded the institution of a
lights out program that would aid birds by turning off stadium lights at night. Not installing bird
safe glass, they asserted, would be in violation of state guidelines that required bond funded
buildings to protect birds from window collisions. In the release, they revealed that they had
been in discussions with the MSFA since May 2013, but did not feel the need to go public until
Audubon staff were told on July 17 that there would be no change in the stadium glass choice to
protect birds. The MSFA retaliated with a public statement of their own just a day later, seeking to
diminish the issue. In the release, they contended that the design was finalized before state
guidelines for bird safety were passed or the Audubon Society raised complaints. They agreed to
the lights out program, which would not be expensive to conduct, but stated that they do not have
the budget to include the $1.1 million needed for bird safe glass. With this press release, the MSFA
sought to bring the issue to a quick conclusion, not foreseeing the public outcry that the Audubon
society would be able to generate.

Johnstrude Observation And Summary
Introduction
The speech perception study conducted by Johnstrude and his colleagues in 2013 was an in depth
investigation of selective attention, focusing on the interrelation of hearing and familiarity. The
purpose of the experiment was to examine the variations of people s attending and shadowing
ability when letting them listen to two simultaneous voices, manipulating the volumes and the
timbres. Johnstrude set three conditions: familiar target voice and novel masker voice, novel target
and familiar masker, and novel baseline (both voices are novel). Johnstrude found that participants
excelled at the first condition, while the other two were inferior at the beginning but tend to

Participants correct responses will always be lower than the scores in the familiar target
condition from Johnstrude s original study since it is harder to ignore a familiar masker voice
than a novel masker voice. Increasing the volume of the target voice can mitigate the interference
of the masker voice but cannot make participants totally overcome it. Meanwhile, the correct
responses throughout the task will be higher than the familiar masker condition because it will
take less effort to attend to a familiar target voice than a novel target voice. Besides, older
participants will score lower than younger participants due to the weakening of perceptual
abilities and more wrong voice errors (failure to distinguish the two call signs). For old people in
the experiment, familiarities of both the spouse s and the friend s voices will intensify with the
increase of age, so will the interference of the masker

The Brewing Business Is Extremely Competitive
The brewing business is extremely competitive. As lager has advanced into fully grown
category, the industry has encountered an escalation in mergers and acquisitions, product
differentiation and global strategy. Overall 650 beers compete across the nations in this
category, the top 10 defraying over $22M annually (Taylor 2004). The market is dominated by
the giant 10 brands that form up 77% of the market. The top 20 occupy 87% which leaves Tiger
and its 0.1% SOV to battle against the remaining 620 premium beers for 13% of the market.
Included in this last 13% are power house global brands like Heineken Export, Corona, Stella Artois
and Becks (Taylor 2004).
Competitive insight: World acclaimed Asian beerhighlight on the quality of beer.
Insight explanation: Focusing on Asian market, Beer is predominantly a Western cultural import
and Singapore is not known as a beer brewing nation and hence, the beer needs validation from the
West to be seen as a greater beer (Jacky 2008). And the brandneeds to be strongly identified with
its category. It must be seen as the category leader. It must be seen as the brand that defines a
category. But the common denominator is that Tiger Beer is a lager beer. Jacky (2008)
comprehends that while breaking down the process of how Tiger Beer s customers look at the beer,
you will probably find that Tiger Beer is an award winning Asian lager beer that is enjoyed by all

Descriptive Essay On Destitute Beauty
Destitute Beauty In the large city of New York, there are many beautiful people. I am not one of
them. I can pass hours away sitting in a coffee shop in a tall seat next to the window, watching
the beauties pass, seeing my reflection against them even more bloated and lumpy than normal.
Some of them notice me. Most of them don t. It doesn t matter. Like I said, New York is a large
city, I ll never see them again. And anyway, I m sure they re used to people staring. How could
they not be, they draw people with their large, black rimmed eyes and lean figures and cutting
jawbones like dogs to the enticing smell of meat. I am just another dog, one they will forget in
moments. And when the sun sets, and the beautiful people fade away and the crowd becomes
faceless and intoxicated, that s when I leave, and where I stay until the sun rises, becoming one
with the pulse and throb of the mass. Promising myself that the next day, yes, the next day, I ll
get a job, ignore the cold, gorgeous people, succeed even with my lumps, and papery skin, and
eyes that are just a little too far apart. And the next day, with my headache, I return. Today is
yesterday and the day before. The sun is especially bright now, almost passive aggressively
bright, shining smugly through the haze that buries the city, bouncing into the small cafe in
which I spend most of my time. It s supposed to be homey, with nearly dead plants hanging
skeletal by the windows and overstuffed couches near a coffee table. I sit in the uncomfortable
seat that s almost comically tall, at the only table next to a window. The barista Ellen is chatting
happily with a customer, she barely notices me anymore. Which is fine by me. A woman, with
long legs and hollows under her cheekbones, struts past the cafГ©, a mere foot away from me. She
doesn t notice my stare. It s a funny thing. People talk all they want about feeling when people stare
at them, getting goosebumps and looking around frantically for their admirer. But either it isn t
true, or I m not important enough for my stare to mean anything, hold any weight. Searching
through the crowd, I find parts and pieces that I want most, playing a game I often play. Her taut

The Importance Of Mount Shasta Eruption
The cities of Weed, Mount Shasta City, McCloud, and Dunsmuir lie in the shadow of Mount
Shasta and could be devastated by an eruption. They lie close enough to the base of the mountain
that they could suffer damage from pyroclastic (hot gas, rock, and ash) and lava flows, tephra
(rock fragments and particles ejected by a volcanic eruption)., lahars (destructive mudflow), and
ballistic ejecta. Based on recent behavior, it is not likely that Mount Shasta will erupt
catastrophic volumes soon. However, smaller eruptions are possible. At least ten eruptions have
taken place in California in the past 1,000 years according to the USGS. Most recently, Lassen
Peak in Lassen Volcanic National Park had a series of eruptions from 1914 to 1917. Concerned
people and groups work with the government to hopefully solve or at least slow global warming
which could be so disastrous to not only Mount Shasta but the entire planet Earth. Government
funded studies had verified that the Mount Shasta area is the ancestral home of the Wintu tribe
and the mountain is central to the Indian belief systems (Nabov). People must be aware of the
delicate balance that can easily be disrupted and treat the area with respect and care to preserve the
beauty for coming generations. Mount Shasta was designated a National Landmark in December of
1976.

Hypertension And High Blood Pressure
Hypertension
Hypertension is referred to as high blood pressure. Hypertension is frequently asymptomatic in the
early stages, and the initial signs are often vague and nonspecific. They include fatigue, malaise, and
sometimes morning headache. Consistently elevated blood pressure under various conditions is the
key sign of hypertension. Because of the insidious onset and mild signs, hypertension is often
undiagnosed until complications arise and has been called the silent killer. The complications are
also asymptomatic until they are well advanced.
Pathophysiology
Hypertension is one of the most common chronic health problems seen in the primary care setting.
Hypertension in adults age 18 and older is defined as a systolic blood pressure (SBP) of greater
than 1400 mm Hg and or a diastolic blood pressure (DBP) of greater than 90 mm Hg, based on the
average of two or more properly measured seated BP readings on each of two or more office visits.
The Seventh Report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation, and
Treatment of High Blood Pressure cites the following three categories for adults age 18 and older:
(1) prehypertension (SBP 120 to 139 mm Hg / DBP 80 to 89 mm Hg); (2) Stage 1 hypertension
(SBP 140 to 159 mm Hg / DBP 90 to 99 mm Hg); and (3) Stage 2 hypertension (SBP ≥ 160 mm

The maritime claims and sovereign claims of China in the South China Sea through the nine dash

Macbeth Character Analysis Essay
Throughout the course of Shakespeare s Scottish tragedy, Macbeth , the eponymous hero
develops from a highly respected warrior and loyal thane; to a dead butcher , executed for his
crimes against Scotland, and condemned by all. By making the fatal error of disregarding his
conscience and committing regicide in order to gain the crown of Scotland, he seals his own
eternal fate and that of Scotland, making her the grave of her people. In the opening scenes of the
play, Shakespeare introduces Macbeth as a war hero, and a trusted advisor to the king. He also
indicates that Macbeth is a more paradoxical character than is initially thought, by associating him
from the start with evil and treachery. The dichotomy of Macbeth s nature is... Show more content

Through the soliloquy, the audience gains insight into Macbeth s innermost thoughts. He names
multiple reasons as to why he should not kill King Duncan, noting that Duncan is his guest,
kinsman and a good king. He also admits that the only motive he has is the Vaulting ambition
residing inside of him. Here he names his own hamartia, his fatal flaw, and acknowledges that to
give in and commit such a deed, would result in his deep damnation . While still undecided on
the matter, Lady Macbeth enters, and, seeing his indecision she decides to manipulate him into
the decision that suits her; for after all, she is almost if not as ambitious as her husband. By
questioning his manhood, his bravery, even their marriage, she successfully leads him to make the
choice to kill the king. We now must realise that although the witches prophecies and Lady
Macbeth s taunts were a catalyst for Macbeth s treachery, they never force him to make these
errors in judgement; it must have been something that was already inside of him that caused him
to decide this. There must have been some inherent evil already a part of his character. After
killing the king, Macbeth is seen to be embracing evil over and over again when he decides to
murder Banquo. Having already gained the crown of Scotland, he now wants further security and
believes that Banquo will disrupt that. Although at first manipulated by his wife to

Private Prisons Vs. Federal Prisons
Private prisons are supposedly more cost effective than state or federal prisons. Or that is what
their representatives say. But regardless of whether they save money or not, are they truly
beneficial for our communities? This article hopes to break down some of the myths these private
prison corporations have used to push their agenda and discuss how that is far from the case. By
doing so, the reader can form his/her own conclusions on how pervasive and detrimental private
prisons have become within our communities. Additionally, by informing as many people as
possible about the harmful effects of privatizing the correctional system in our nation, we can soon
hope to address some of the emerging problems such as our increased prisonpopulations,
endangerment of prisoners staff personnel, and whether it truly is cost effective.
However, before we can dive into the dilemmas that the prison industrial complex created we must
first define what they are and how did they originate within our country. First, the private prison
system is not a new phenomenon. Although the first appearances of these facilities are not the ones
we think of today, the private sector s involvement in incarcerating people emerged in the early
eighteenth century. These privately operated facilities, in part, gained popularity because they used
the prisoners as laborers, artisans, and other needed occupations in the community. By the mid
nineteenth century, providers constructed the modern private

Why Is Levi Coffin Considered An Abolitionist
Levi Coffin was a well known abolitionist, and a very important individual to the success of the
Underground Railroad. Dictionary.com describes an abolitionist as a person who tries to stop
or get rid of any law or practice that is harmful to the society ( Abolitionist ). Levi Coffin was that
and much more. He and most of the people involved in the Quaker religion believed that all men
were equal and it was his divine purpose to do everything in his power to help. Levi took it a bit
further than most. He was exposed to slavery at a young age and was taught by his family not to
support it; he took those teachings and applied them to various stages of his life; including his
young adulthood, marriage and retirement (Ludwig). Levi Coffin... Show more content on

Later the masters of the slaves, that were attending, began to oppose the school and it was then
liquidated (Powell). Shortly after in 1822 Levi followed his brother in law Benjamin White to
Indiana. The persecution of Quakers had become unbearable in the Southern Territories. He lived
with Mr. White for about a year and then returned to North Carolina. He was convinced that
Quakers and slavery could not coexist and decided that he himself would move to Indiana ( Levi
Coffin , Wikipedia).

In 1824, Coffin married Catherine White at the Hopewell Church in Guildford County. Four years
later in 1826 they moved to Newport, Indiana, which is now Fountain city (Powell). The couple s
move to Indiana was postponed when Catherine became pregnant with their first child, Jesse, the
first of six children to come. The Coffins opened a general store and Levi became a prosperous
business man. Soon after the family had relocated in Newport, they discovered they were on the
path of the Underground Railroad. The fugitives using the Underground Railroad generally stayed
with those colored people of the community and they more often than not did not reach their
destination. (Coffin) Levi Coffin was quoted in his book,

My Travel Experience
My journey the day I left my home country in search of a better life was not as pleasurable or
exciting as I expected. Although it was not a long flight, the accumulation of unexpected
vicissitudes during the trip made my dream of traveling an absolute nightmare. Not only my
sadness to be leaving my family behind, the uncertainty to fly alone and for the first time, or my
inexperience with the procedures at the airport contributed to this calamity, but even my neighbor
on the plane added his bit of sand in the affair. My trauma was such that after that day, I thought I
would never dare to fly again.
The nightmare began long before we even set foot on the plane. I was about to travel from the
international airport of Havana, Cuba to Cancun, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This event caused a big fuss at the airport, and I could feel the heat of my red face boiling of
shame for being the center of attention at that moment. Once the clutter of the corrupt employee
quieted down, I went to check my luggage. Although the line was not so long, it took an eternity to
be assisted, since the only two assistants available at the time for that function had a lively talk
and did not appear to be in any hurry to attend the row of impatient travelers waiting to be served.
Until finally my turn came! The young woman took my documentation with such slow movements
that her arms looked like they had five pound weights in each hand, and then she asked me to put
my luggage on a big scale that was right next to me. I did not have much in my suitcase, only
clothes for a week, a couple of family photos, and a small bag with my makeup, body lotions, and
perfume. Since everything was in order with the weight, they tagged my luggage and put it on a
moving mat while I followed it with my eyes until it disappeared behind the curtains.
Throughout the check in process, I tried to show myself strong and calm; I did not want my
relatives there to see the pain and sadness reflected in my face for leaving them behind. When it
came time to go through the immigration check point, I knew that it was time to embrace and kiss
my family for the last time with the uncertainty of not knowing when I could

Learning Organization Paper Learning organizations today must be adequately able to readily adapt

vitally critical to knowing what promises will be fulfilled to give a free rein to well wishes and
aspirations. The leaders use strategies to get to desired goals. The nest phase is mental models.
You also need a mental model to become aware of different perceptions that have a great influence
on chemistry and feelings. Continued focus on recharged conversations on intended goals. The

The Catholic Church In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
The Catholic Church was a dominant and powerful foundation represented throughout The
Canterbury Tales and through the Medieval Era. The majority of religious figures in the story
portrayed characteristics of unscrupulousness and deceitfulness which emerged from the corruption
of the church. The exception is the Parson; who is an accurate symbol of what the Clergyshould be,
unlike the Friar who neglects to pursue his missionary. For instance both men act in contrast of
each other and illustrate both the admirable and the sinful appearance of the clergy. Throughout
the tales these two men and their polarity are presented on accounts of their obligations of the
clergy, charitable nature, and their lifestyles. Above all, the Parson is seen as an eminent
exemplification which is described by Chaucer as a holy minded man of good renown (line
475), the only faithful clergy in the tales. The Parson lives a life where he preaches to his
worshippers so that they can follow saying, With houses far asunder he neglected not in rain or
thunder, in sickness or in grief, to pay a call (Lines 501 503). This quote describes the Parson as
a devout loyalist who perseveres through adversity, no matter the weather or his physical
conditions. Every day he sets out to educate and create an honorable example and advocate for
Christ s gospel to those all around the town. The Friar on the other hand is a selfish man not fitting
with dignity of his position (lines 247 248). Instead of

Catiline s Argument For Land Reform
Friends and fellow Romans of the Senate! We are in dark times and now more than ever, we
must tackle them as a United Senate of Rome. No longer should we be in turmoil over this
divide in laws and land reform. Heed my warnings! If not, all of Rome shall collapse and we will
all perish at the hands of Catiline and his massive army. I don t know about you all, but I fear for
your safety. Before any of this began, Catiline came to us, speaking for the people of Rome and
stating his hopes of bringing positive changes to our great country. Although they may have
seemed radical, Catiline s ideas for land reform were exactly what this country needed. Antonius,
Cornelius and I wanted Catiline s ideas passed in a civil and proper manner. Instead, we must
come to these decisions under harsh and dire circumstances. Keeping this in mind, I feel now
more than ever that we should stop wasting time on this topic and pass Antonius land reform laws,
which would appeal to Catiline and his followers. This is clearly what the people of Rome want if
they are burning our streets and killing our Senate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By waiting and arguing for this long, all we have given them is false hope. With Catiline escaped
from prison, they now have a strong leader to stand behind instead of Cicero. Impeaching Cicero
was something that Catiline wanted, and I believe that if we comtinue to appeal to his requests,
we can stop the riots, the conspiracies and the deaths of our senate members. I believe that we
should return Catiline back to the Senate. We should not consider him our public enemy if he has
an army of Romans standing behind him. If anything, he is clearly representing the people. We
have continued to argue what the people truly want, but it is clear to me that Catiline is speaking
for the people. Bringing him here and giving him his rights back seems like the safest solution for

Adler s The Neglect Of The Intellect Sloth
In his article The Neglect of the Intellect: Sloth, Mortimer J. Adler asserts that the disuse of a
person s intellect is a moral injustice. Adler coins the term sloth to describe the people
committing this moral crime. He believes that people should use their intellectual abilities for
their own personal pleasure rather than for economic or political gain. Adler employs an
aggressive tone when describing the abuse of the intellect, and appeals to the reader s emotion
when portraying intellect as a way the only way to live a morally good life. Adler s purpose is to
convince his readers that intellect should be used solely for the purpose of increasing
knowledge. While Adler s article gives a reasonably convincing argument about learning for
your own well being, he fails to support his claims, baffles his readers with the overuse of
intelligent sounding words, and neglects to explain why you should be intellectual just for the
sake of it. Alder fails to support his claims. Because of this, his claims come across as opinions,
not allegations. In paragraph 4, Adler says, Sloth is a moral fault, but unlike injustice that results
in misconduct toward others, sloth is a moral fault that causes the misconduct of the individual s
private life. This quote demonstrates how Adler makes a statement, but never elaborates on it. He
calls the sloth a moral fault, but doesn t explain how that is true. Adler also mentions that your
private life will be affected, but never precedes to explain how that could happen. Another
example is when Adler states, But there are a great many more who have sufficient ability to
make the effort and fail to do so (paragraph 3). Adler neglects to explain to the reader how this
statement is true. He later lists the activities of the people he referred to engage in, but he never
demonstrates an example of failure to use their intellectual abilities. Adler s failure to support his
claims discredits his argument. Throughout his article, Adler uses intellectual language that can
make it hard for his audienceto read. Words he uses like lethargy and torpor take away from the
purpose of his article. Adler is trying to convince his audience to seek knowledge for enjoyment,
but his

These two positions are the Baker and the Assistant Store Manager position. The managers are
trying to determine the best method for evaluating the positions within the organization.
Baker s Position There are two methods that are being tested for this position to evaluate this
employee s job performance. These methods are the factor comparison and the point method.
Both of these methods could be effective for evaluating this position. Both of these methods are
based on the employee s skills. They are based on the skills of the individual only, not compared
to other s skills within the organization. However, using these methods could also be difficult to
assess the baker s skill level. Research would have to be done using other stores comparable to
Kudler Fine Foods and their skilled baker s. This research would have to collect data that would
give the manager s at Kudler an idea of what the job performance level should be as a baker.
Assistant Store Manager There are two methods that are being considered to evaluate this position.
They are the ranking and factor comparison method. The ranking method could be effective
because the ranking could be completed by other Kudler employees. Determining the ranking
system, could be based on previous assistant store manager employees at Kudler s. Their job
performance level is based on what impact they have on the organization as a whole and what they
can do to improve the organization. The disadvantage

Inventions During The Industrial Revolution
Inventions in the Industrial Revolution/ Man Vs. Machine During the Industrial Revolution,
inventions helped increase productivity and saved time. When people had to do all the work by

made, made working more productive and easier. When people made things by hand made they
could not make as many product because it took them a long time just to make each one. Therefore
they could not sell to many. When new inventions were made it increased productivity. This gave

Thomas Newcomen invented the first steam engine. It is not very useful yet, but the idea of using
steam to make machines go will be important to the Industrial Revolution. (Industrial Revolution

inventions. The steam engine was not that useful at the moment because it was just the engine and
not the vehicle itself. James Watt from Scotland designs a more efficient steam engine. (Industrial

Roman Arena
During the study abroad trip to Italy, I had the opportunity of visiting another city, Verona. One
of the first stops that were made as a class was the Arena. Not only is the Arena the best
preserved Roman monument in Verona, but it was built in the first century AD. The reason
behind this cultural monument being a favorite was due to the way it was not broken down and
once I stepped foot into the center of the arena, I felt as if I had become apart of what took place
years ago within it. Even though the arena is well preserved, a few changes had been made to
the center in order for it to keep up with modern day culture. The name, Arena, originated from
its central arena that was covered in sand. This famous arena held many gladiator fights when it
was first built and now, to keep in touch with the modern day shows that are held in colesseums,
operas are hosted. A fun fact about the arena is it was originally built outside of the city walls. It
was built in that location to make it easier for people from outside of the city to find it. However,
an additional reason for the location was due to the crowded people throwing riots and... Show more

Ages, I began to draw my attention towards the center of the arena to notice if I could actually

Essay on The Effect of Consumer Culture on Education
The Effect of Consumer Culture on Education Consumer culture has without a doubt affected my
education. Education involves many things we value, and much of what we value has been bought.
Whether it be the calculators we use in math class or the texts we read in English, commodities are
helping teach us to do things. On another level however , consumer cultureaffects our personal

which can be bought or sold. Much of this is due to the coverage of events presented by the Mass

You can t be too shy because that is not desirable. Nor can you be too outspoken in class because
then you are classified in some way; after all if people hear what you have to say they can form
an opinion of you. So we search to find that happy medium displayed in the world we watch on our
television.
I agree with Edmundson to some degree. Yes, consumer culture definitely affects the way most of
us see ourselves and want to be seen by others. After all, Enthusiasm…quickly looks absurd.
The form of character that s most appealing on TV is calmly self interested though never greedy,
attuned to the conventions, and ironic. This definitely resembles the character that I personally
find desirable, and I imagine many other people feel the same way. But I believe there is a point
when people stop trying to conform to an image because it is too much work, but Edmundson
concludes that people are constantly . I am noticing this more now that I am in college. In high
school it seemed like more people were stuck between being cool and being unique, not sure
themselves which they wanted to be. Now it seems those who are unique by nature stop trying to
be like the normal and show their true colors. I imagine this is true in the class room as well.
Though some people may not talk a lot in the classroom, I believe that the professor need only to
read their papers

Oftentimes, culture is thought of in terms of National Culture. National Culture is sustained and encouraged by nation states through the construction of monuments, museums and other buildings, which protect the heritages of significant events and people (Wild and Wild 2016, p.70). Essay about Assessment Assessment for Used Car Negotiation Simulation Summary My target for this negotiation was to get the car at $4,500, the low end of blue book value. $4,500 could be the net price, which means if seller can offer something else, such as maintenance service, parts or accessories to offset some part of the cost, I can accept higher price. My BATNA is to deal with other seller for similar used car. Eventually, I couldn t make any deal with seller during the negotiation because he wanted to sell at $5,000 and his extra accessory offer is not worth $500. It is a very emotional experience in which the person feels the presence of the Holy Spirit. A biblical evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is in second chapter of Acts where the disciples were sitting together in the upper room and they were filled with the Holy Spirit and they began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Speaking in tongues is one of the things that happens when the Holy Spirit has baptizes us; it shows the presence of God is with the person. Speaking in tongues is not a necessary sign of the baptism of the Holy Spirit in my opinion, although it did happened to the disciples when they got baptized with the Holy Spirit. • 10. Contributions Of The Founding Fathers All of the founding fathers of the United States were great because they acted on their values and beliefs, helping to sow the seeds of a new nation. The work of the founding fathers became instrumental for independence from the British Crown. Being willing to stand up to Britain was no small feat, making the deeds of the founding fathers even more admirable. The founding fathers will be celebrated throughout history for their contribution not just to America but to the world. Although many men and women can be considered instrumental to founding the nation, there are seven key players that most historians identify as being the founding fathers. Those seven include George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, James Monroe, and Ben Franklin. All seven of the founding fathers and their contributions are important. Therefore, it can be helpful to compare and contrast three of them such as Washington, Hamilton, and Franklin to better appreciate the ways their diverse talents, skills, and philosophies helped to create a nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all people are created equal. Not all the founding fathers became presidents, but all were leaders in their own ways by capitalizing on their strengths and areas of specialization. In intangibility there are two different aspects that could be looked into which is the search quality and experience. The search quality is when they observe the product without experiencing it at first hand. In reality they would know what they would want to rent like for example kayaks, canoes or a motorboat by only looking at it but have not experienced it yet. The experience is when the customer has rented the tangible product and has had an experience using it while being able to assess whether it is satisfactory or not. Once the service rented is satisfactory, the customers would tend to return to the same place as they would have confidence on the service obtained. • 19. Comparing My Fair Lady And Miss Congeniality In the world, there seems to be two levels of conflict. One conflict involves having a common war shared among multiple individuals, and the other incorporates more personal issues. For instance, many women across the globe feel inferior to men; however, some feel apt to change the way things are or how they adapt to the situation. Some women are satisfied with how their lives are, but there are some that will go the extra mile to see some fresh, new adjustments. In My Fair Lady and Miss Congeniality, there seems to be evidence of intertextual elements intertwined within both films through the aspects of character motives, conflicts, and setting. The characters of both films are revealed by their words and actions. The characters Eliza Doolittle and Professor Henry Higgins from My Fair Lady seem to have obvious comparisons to Gracie Hart and Victor Melling from Miss Congeniality. When looking at Eliza and Gracie, not only do they display the protagonist archetype, but they also show how someone not so ladylike can be transformed into one of nature s most beautiful creatures a lady. The Students Bill Of Rights The school where the author is doing her practicum has written a School Bill of Rights to give guide to the students, staff and parents as to what is appropriate behavior. The author supports this bill of rights because it provides a healthy environment for learning for the students. The author of this essay highly respects students bill of rights in the school. The students do not lose their constitutional rights when they come to school. Thus, they have First Amendment rights to express themselves. The democratic leader embraces this freedom of expression. However, students do not have the full range of the constitutional rights. The principal of a school has the power to make rules for the student to follow at school. For example, a student cannot cuss a teacher in class or the hall. However, if it happened off campus, the principal would not have the authority to punish the student. The author as a democratic leader would use the situation to explain to the student why it should not be done and carry out any repercussions that the rules require. After all, it is the role of the principal to educate the students in a safe environment. Any safe environment has rules that need to be followed. However, the principal of the school must respect the Bill of Rights and the First Amendment. Occasionally, a situation may occur when it is hard for the principal to do his /her job without walking on students free expression rights. Justly, the importance of the Bill ... • 21. Radio Frequency Identification ( Rfid ) Essay Abstract Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a technology for automated identification of people and products, and is getting more involved in our daily lives. RFID consists of a RFID tag or transponder, a RFID reader or transceiver, and the data processing system has been evolving with time. RFID technology is also helpful when used with money, but there is a main limitation while using RFIDtechnology. It is privacy and security. • 22. Art As A Form Of Self-Expression Is art a form of self expression from the artist to their audience? Self expression is defined as, the expression of one s feelings, thoughts, or ideas, especially in writing, art, music, or dance. (English Oxford Dictionary). The source of inspiration for art is unknown for certain, but it is commonly believed that it comes from inside the artist, based on their life lessons and experiences. If the inspiration comes from within, then artists are expressing themselves through their art, thus art is self expression. There are innumerous forms of art, from writing to dancing; singing to creating a drawing, public speaking and everything in between. A person who is whistling is expressing how they are feeling through the notes that they hit. Someone who is drawing can use darker colors, such as browns and blacks to give off an eerie tone. Does that mean that all art is self expression? No, not all art is self expression, maybe it isn t self expression at all. This leads to the debate over whether art is self expression if the inspiration comes from an outside source, rather than from within. When an artist attempts to express their self feelings through their art, a special emotion is evoked if the art comes from deep within. There is a distinguishable difference between art that comes from within and art that is inspired by an outside source. Plato believes that artists are possessed by someone or something, rather than their inspiration coming from inside. This means that art would not be self expressional, as it isn t coming from within the artist s mind, but rather an exterior source. In Plato s book, Ion, Socrates explains to Ion, that: ...speaking well about Homer; it s a divine power that moves you, as a Magnetic stone moves iron rings. (Plato, Ion, 18). In this analogy, Socrates is attempting to explain to Ion that his ability to be well versed in the study of Homer is not due to his own inspiration and aspirations, but rather because of a divine power that gives him this ability. In the text, Plato talked about how Ion would light up when talking about Homer, showing that he may be possessed by Homer. Ion is drawn in towards Homer as a fish is to the hook with bait on it. ... In 2013, the NFL s Vikings and the The Minnesota Metropolitan Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) agreed to construction guidelines for the new Vikings stadium. Replacing the eyesore of the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, the new stadium called for a modern design with a glass faГ§ade that would reflect Minneapoliss downtown. While the design seemed innocuous to most, ornithologists immediately objected to the plan: large expanses of glass would confuse migrating birds by reflecting the sky. The birds would careen into the stadium, injuring or killing themselves. Additionally, they demanded the institution of a lights out program that would aid birds by turning off stadium lights at night. In the release, they revealed that they had been in discussions with the MSFA since May 2013, but did not feel the need to go public until Audubon staff were told on July 17 that there would be no change in the stadium glass choice to protect birds. The MSFA retaliated with a public statement of their own just a day later, seeking to diminish the issue. They agreed to the lights out program, which would not be expensive to conduct, but stated that they do not have the budget to include the $1.1 million needed for bird safe glass. I can pass hours away sitting in a coffee shop in a tall seat next to the window, watching the beauties pass, seeing my reflection against them even more bloated and lumpy than normal. Some of them notice me. Most of them don t. It doesn t matter. Like I said, New York is a large city, I ll never see them again. And anyway, I m sure they re used to people staring. How could they not be, they draw people with their large, black rimmed eyes and lean figures and cutting jawbones like dogs to the enticing smell of meat. I am just another dog, one they will forget in moments. And when the sun sets, and the beautiful people fade away and the crowd becomes faceless and intoxicated, that s when I leave, and where I stay until the sun rises, becoming one with the pulse and throb of the mass. Promising myself that the next day, yes, the next day, I ll get a job, ignore the cold, gorgeous people, succeed even with my lumps, and papery skin, and eyes that are just a little too far apart. And the next day, with my headache, I return. Today is yesterday and the day before. The sun is especially bright now, almost passive aggressively bright, shining smugly through the haze that buries the city, bouncing into the small cafe in which I spend most of my time. It s supposed to be homey, with nearly dead plants hanging skeletal by the windows and overstuffed couches near a coffee table. Hypertension is frequently asymptomatic in the early stages, and the initial signs are often vague and nonspecific. They include fatigue, malaise, and sometimes morning headache. Consistently elevated blood pressure under various conditions is the key sign of hypertension. Because of the insidious onset and mild signs, hypertension is often undiagnosed until complications arise and has been called the silent killer. The complications are also asymptomatic until they are well advanced. Pathophysiology Hypertension is one of the most common chronic health problems seen in the primary care setting. Hypertension in adults age 18 and older is defined as a systolic blood pressure (SBP) of greater than 1400 mm Hg and or a diastolic blood pressure (DBP) of greater than 90 mm Hg, based on the average of two or more properly measured seated BP readings on each of two or more office visits. Macbeth Character Analysis Essay Throughout the course of Shakespeare s Scottish tragedy, Macbeth , the eponymous hero develops from a highly respected warrior and loyal thane; to a dead butcher , executed for his crimes against Scotland, and condemned by all. By making the fatal error of disregarding his conscience and committing regicide in order to gain the crown of Scotland, he seals his own eternal fate and that of Scotland, making her the grave of her people. In the opening scenes of the play, Shakespeare introduces Macbeth as a war hero, and a trusted advisor to the king. He also indicates that Macbeth is a more paradoxical character than is initially thought, by associating him from the start with evil and treachery. The dichotomy of Macbeth s nature is... He names multiple reasons as to why he should not kill King Duncan, noting that Duncan is his guest, kinsman and a good king. He also admits that the only motive he has is the Vaulting ambition residing inside of him. Here he names his own hamartia, his fatal flaw, and acknowledges that to give in and commit such a deed, would result in his deep damnation . While still undecided on the matter, Lady Macbeth enters, and, seeing his indecision she decides to manipulate him into the decision that suits her; for after all, she is almost if not as ambitious as her husband. By questioning his manhood, his bravery, even their marriage, she successfully leads him to make the choice to kill the king. We now must realise that although the witches prophecies and Lady Macbeth s taunts were a catalyst for Macbeth s treachery, they never force him to make these errors in judgement; it must have been something that was already inside of him that caused him to decide this. There must have been some inherent evil already a part of his character. After killing the king, Macbeth is seen to be embracing evil over and over again when he decides to murder Banquo. Having already gained the crown of Scotland, he now wants further security and believes that Banquo will disrupt that. Although at first manipulated by his wife to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Private Prisons Vs. Federal Prisons Private prisons are supposedly more cost effective than state or federal prisons. Or that is what their representatives say. But regardless of whether they save money or not, are they truly beneficial for our communities? This article hopes to break down some of the myths these private prison corporations have used to push their agenda and discuss how that is far from the case. By doing so, the reader can form his/her own conclusions on how pervasive and detrimental private prisons have become within our communities. Additionally, by informing as many people as possible about the harmful effects of privatizing the correctional system in our nation, we can soon hope to address some of the emerging problems such as our increased prisonpopulations, endangerment of prisoners staff personnel, and whether it truly is cost effective. However, before we can dive into the dilemmas that the prison industrial complex created we must first define what they are and how did they originate within our country. First, the private prison system is not a new phenomenon. Although the first appearances of these facilities are not the ones we think of today, the private sector s involvement in incarcerating people emerged in the early eighteenth century. These privately operated facilities, in part, gained popularity because they used the prisoners as laborers, artisans, and other needed occupations in the community. By the mid nineteenth century, providers constructed the modern private ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although it was not a long flight, the accumulation of unexpected vicissitudes during the trip made my dream of traveling an absolute nightmare. Not only my sadness to be leaving my family behind, the uncertainty to fly alone and for the first time, or my inexperience with the procedures at the airport contributed to this calamity, but even my neighbor on the plane added his bit of sand in the affair. Although the line was not so long, it took an eternity to be assisted, since the only two assistants available at the time for that function had a lively talk and did not appear to be in any hurry to attend the row of impatient travelers waiting to be served. Until finally my turn came! The young woman took my documentation with such slow movements that her arms looked like they had five pound weights in each hand, and then she asked me to put my luggage on a big scale that was right next to me. I did not have much in my suitcase, only clothes for a week, a couple of family photos, and a small bag with my makeup, body lotions, and perfume. Since everything was in order with the weight, they tagged my luggage and put it on a moving mat while I followed it with my eyes until it disappeared behind the curtains. • 44. The Catholic Church In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales The Catholic Church was a dominant and powerful foundation represented throughout The Canterbury Tales and through the Medieval Era. The majority of religious figures in the story portrayed characteristics of unscrupulousness and deceitfulness which emerged from the corruption of the church. The exception is the Parson; who is an accurate symbol of what the Clergyshould be, unlike the Friar who neglects to pursue his missionary. For instance both men act in contrast of each other and illustrate both the admirable and the sinful appearance of the clergy. Throughout the tales these two men and their polarity are presented on accounts of their obligations of the clergy, charitable nature, and their lifestyles. Above all, the Parson is seen as an eminent exemplification which is described by Chaucer as a holy minded man of good renown (line 475), the only faithful clergy in the tales. The Parson lives a life where he preaches to his worshippers so that they can follow saying, With houses far asunder he neglected not in rain or thunder, in sickness or in grief, to pay a call (Lines 501 503). This quote describes the Parson as a devout loyalist who perseveres through adversity, no matter the weather or his physical conditions. I don t know about you all, but I fear for your safety. Before any of this began, Catiline came to us, speaking for the people of Rome and stating his hopes of bringing positive changes to our great country. Although they may have seemed radical, Catiline s ideas for land reform were exactly what this country needed. Antonius, Cornelius and I wanted Catiline s ideas passed in a civil and proper manner. Instead, we must come to these decisions under harsh and dire circumstances. • 46. Adler s The Neglect Of The Intellect Sloth In his article The Neglect of the Intellect: Sloth, Mortimer J. Adler asserts that the disuse of a person s intellect is a moral injustice. Adler coins the term sloth to describe the people committing this moral crime. He believes that people should use their intellectual abilities for their own personal pleasure rather than for economic or political gain. Adler employs an aggressive tone when describing the abuse of the intellect, and appeals to the reader s emotion when portraying intellect as a way the only way to live a morally good life. Adler s purpose is to convince his readers that intellect should be used solely for the purpose of increasing knowledge. While Adler s article gives a reasonably convincing argument about learning for your own well being, he fails to support his claims, baffles his readers with the overuse of intelligent sounding words, and neglects to explain why you should be intellectual just for the sake of it. Alder fails to support his claims. Because of this, his claims come across as opinions, not allegations. In paragraph 4, Adler says, Sloth is a moral fault, but unlike injustice that results in misconduct toward others, sloth is a moral fault that causes the misconduct of the individual s private life. This quote demonstrates how Adler makes a statement, but never elaborates on it. He calls the sloth a moral fault, but doesn t explain how that is true. Adler also mentions that your private life will be affected, but never precedes to explain how that could happen. Another example is when Adler states, But there are a great many more who have sufficient ability to make the effort and fail to do so (paragraph 3). Adler neglects to explain to the reader how this statement is true. He later lists the activities of the people he referred to engage in, but he never demonstrates an example of failure to use their intellectual abilities. Adler s failure to support his claims discredits his argument. Throughout his article, Adler uses intellectual language that can make it hard for his audienceto read. Not only is the Arena the best preserved Roman monument in Verona, but it was built in the first century AD. The reason behind this cultural monument being a favorite was due to the way it was not broken down and once I stepped foot into the center of the arena, I felt as if I had become apart of what took place years ago within it. Even though the arena is well preserved, a few changes had been made to the center in order for it to keep up with modern day culture. The name, Arena, originated from its central arena that was covered in sand. This famous arena held many gladiator fights when it was first built and now, to keep in touch with the modern day shows that are held in colesseums, operas are hosted.
