Petrochina Case Analysis
PetroChina Case Analysis The article PetroChina: International Corporate Governance with Chinese
Characteristics describes the major concerns about PetroChina s corporate governance when and after
it was listed on NYSE and HKSE, which was the first Chinese state owned enterprise launched IPO
overseas. This paper is based on the information provided by the article and will discuss in three
aspects: Firstly, why corporate governance was important for China s SOEs? Secondly, what were the
special problems associated with PetroChina s corporate governance model and what could be done to
improve it? Finally, the postscript: the things I learn from this case study. Part I Corporate governance

So far, it looks like a draw between the Cons and Pros for investing in PetroChina, right? However,
what investor should worry was that the favorable policies or even the whole political atmosphere
might change someday, which would become a large political risk. That risk was hard to be eliminated
using portfolio diversification since China was going to become the world s 2nd largest economy and
would have enormous impact on the economy in the rest of the world. In other words, China s market
was too large for investors to avoid and if you want to use risk assets from other areas of the world to
diversify the risk from China, the weight of those assets would need to be incredibly too high.
Nevertheless, the most interesting part is that investment may be an art of counterbalance and
compromise, when you look at the tremendous market volume and brilliant prospectus of China s oil
and gasoline market. This country has the largest population of 1.3billion, the second longest
highways length of almost 100,000 kilometers and the second largest automobile population of 85
million. And it was growing in average 8% during the years. No one wants to miss the chance to
invest in a such economy. As purely international investors with less concern on political right and
wrong or environment issues, driven by profit and price of stocks

Team Dynamics
Team Dynamics
Group of people working together for achieving the organizational goals are considered team but
when people create group with no interdependence or organizationally focused objective are called
formal group. These formal groups are available in almost every form of social organization, and same
applies to my classroom on basis of race, religion and nationality. People of same race go along with
each other very easily as they are familiar about themselves and similar situation goes for religion and
nationality too. There are various reasons for having formal groups within a social organization among
which the most basic reason is drive to bond, human being is a social animal and they are hardwired

As the time passes, the team is going to reach the third level which would be norming stage, where
team is going to establish consensus forms around group objectives. In this stage all team members
from different background will be cooperative among themselves and build up trust among
themselves. Once team members becomes acquainted to each other then they will reach final stage of
team development i.e. adjourning stage. In this stage team will disband, where team will divert their
attention from task orientation to relationship focus.
Kansas office in my company, a national sales organization of electrical products for developers and
Contractors shows proper functioning of team norms where team members regularly calls customer
after a sale to ask whether the product arrives on time and whether they are satisfy or not. It shows that
Kansas office team members create a norm where their main focus is to satisfy the customer and
everybody follows those norms which is not the case in Denver. Denver office shows that they don t
have norm of calling customers and worry about customer satisfaction. Team norms are the informal
rules and expectation laid down by the team members to regulate their behavior. The reasons which
could be affecting Denver office for not having those norms are that they don t receive any praise from
high status member, member in Denver office are not allowed to access

Fadumo Dayib was born in Kenya, but was deported with her family, back to Somalia. Due to civil
war, Dayib fled to Finland when she was around 17 and spent twenty six years as a refugee. Despite
living the majority of her life in Finland, Dayib s aims have always been to return to Somalia with the
hope of bringing skills and education to the country. Currently, she is attempting to take on the role of
President, to unify and stabilise Somalia. There are eighteen candidates (she is the only female) for the
up coming election in Somalia this month, and Dayib will oppose the current president Hassan Sheikh
Mohamud. Accused of becoming dictatorial, Sheikh Mohamud has had a history of silencing free
press ad making constitutional breaches. Resolving Somalia s political problems also encompass
corruption in government. To do this would combat any dependence on the Al Shabaab, an Islamic
militant group, which had controlled a lot of the region. To win the election this month, Dayib will
face other parties who can, and will, buy votes. She flatly acknowledges this point stating that if you
are not corrupt, then you will not be able to partake in the system. Despite that Dayib believes she

Mary Crane In The Film Psycho
The main character of Psycho is Mary Crane who starts as a nice real estate office worker but when
she is supposed to take $40,000 in cash to the bank she runs off to help pay off her lover s debt to his
ex wife. She stops at a hotel to stay the night but is killed by the hotels owner s mother. This is one of
the biggest plot point in the movie because it starts the search for her that leads the other characters to
the hotel to figure out where she went. A detective is given the case to find her to get the $40,000 from
her and the detective, Milton Arbogast, follows Mary s sister, Lila Crane, to Mary s lover, Sam

Limiting The Use Of Pesticides In Silent Spring By Rachel...
In the book, Silent Spring by Rachel Carson warns people about the use of insecticide. When people
use pesticide to kill insects it leads to problems because it would transfer from people to animals.
Carson shows us when the earth is contaminated with pollution, it is going to take generation after
generation to fix. When the chemicals were discovered to make pesticides it was founded by an
accident. People started to use pesticides to kill insects, but the pesticide started to make people and
animals to get sick or die. The pesticide would enter the body animals or people and it would transfer
to the offspring of the animals or human beings. According to Carson pesticide would go to the water
supply where people drink from and get sick or die. Carson suggests that we should not stop using
pesticide, but to limit our usage of pesticide. I agree with Carson that we should limit the use of
pesticides. People around the world she cut back on the usage of pesticides because it hurts the health
of human beings, animals, and water supply. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rachel Carson says, In Florida, two children found an empty bag and used it to repair a swing. Shortly
thereafter both of them died and three of their playmates became ill. The bag had once contained an
insecticide called parathion, one of the organic phosphates; tests established death by parathion
poisoning (28). In this quote, Rachel Carson shows us that two little kids die from playing with an
empty bag lying on a swing set. The pesticides were in the empty bag which killed the two kids.
Carson shows us that by just a bag can have the pesticide that can kill a person. The usage of pesticide
should be limited because is can harm the health of human

Analysis Of Memento
Christopher Nolan s Memento follows Leonard Shelby in his vengeful quest to find the murderer of
his wife. Leo suffers from short term memory loss and traces any recent information and memories
through tattoos, notes, and photographs. Throughout the film, time is distorted yet linear. Scenes in
color are followed by ones in black and white. There is a sequential order to the film, but it is not
presented in that manner. Time is treated as a changing, personal force rather than a solely
standardized, detached authority. This creates a beautiful dynamic within the film, for beauty, I think,
is seeing or portraying everyday concepts or things in a new light. My experience and analysis of
literature and art deeply impact my notion of beauty. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His goal is to uncover his wife s killer, yet he has to continuously remind himself that she s not here.
This dissonance is frustrating, consuming, gritty, and even ugly, yet it is beautiful. The beauty arises
from time s dismantlement. Standardized time looms over Leo and is real, yet his sense of time is also
real. The ambiguity and multiplicity of time in Memento challenges time s common perception as
undeviating and monotonous. This departure from the normal view of an everyday concept exists
within this scene and the entire film and, for me, make Memento

How Does Jesus Talk With A Samaritan Woman

Jesus and the Gospels
14 May 2018 Jesus Talks With a Samaritan Woman (John 4:1 26)
Through Jesus, God s love and deliverance is made accessible for everyone, and through him, you will
have everlasting life. In John 6:47, the author states, I am telling you the truth: he who believes has
eternal life (NIV). John 4:1 26 directly shows how if you are willing believe in him, you will have
eternal life. Jesus will ignore any circumstances of an individual to show his love. This passage
expertly shows that despite Jesus being a Jewish man and was not supposed to associate with
Samaritans, did so anyway to express his love and to get the woman to have everlasting life. The
background of a person does not matter, as long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The well was seen as a place where sin filled people came in order to encounter and get restoration
from Jesus. It was also seen as a place where people can get fresh water from Jacob. This was also a
place where travelers stop to rest. Many religions find this place a very significant place as well.
However, according to Christians, The significance of Jacob s well is that it provided an opportunity
for Jesus to present Himself as the life giving Messiah to a Samaritan woman and, later, to her whole
village (What is the significance of Jacob s well?).
Previously to this passage, Jesus had performed many signs. One of the most prevalent examples, and
the holiest of signs, is when Jesus turns water into wine. This was one of the most symbolic signs
Jesus had performed, and showed that Jesus was indeed the Son of God and was going to sacrifice
himself for the sake of eternal life for all who believe. The passage of Jesus and the Woman by the
well is just one of those many significant signs Jesus carried out and adds to his fundamental

Ecology And Plant Ecology
In this article examples are going to be discussed of the application of molecular biology in the field
of plant ecology, what molecular biology is as well as what plant ecology is. Plant ecology is one of
the branches in the scientific field of ecology that mainly focus on plant population and their
surroundings (McMahon, 2016). Plant ecologists also look at other factors that have an impact on the
plants and their environment. According to the MIT Department of Biology, plant molecular biology is
the study where biological data such as plants genetics, genomes, biochemical and the cell biologics is
inserted into computers to understand the development, growth and physiology of plants at a
molecular level. The examples that is going to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Researchers do not just look at the plant but keeps in mind how the plants interact with each other and
their environment. A Plant ecologist do not just look at plants but also the soil conditions, animals and
other influences that might have an impact on the plants environment. According to McMahon (2016)
plant ecology is not just a plant itself but, is everything from understanding the plants environment
functions as well as the interaction of humans with the natural environment. The area most focused on
in plant ecology is topics like climate change, plant diseases and the symbiotic relationship between
plant species and how plants spread in nature (McMahon, 2016). Plant ecology involves a lot of field
work because the plant needs to be viewed in their natural habitat to understand why the plant looks
like it does. Plant ecology covers a wide range of research for instance the study of plants growing in a
specific ecosystem for example the rainforest, or a specific area that is of interest, like a population of
plants that is growing next to a polluted river or dam. It can also help researchers to study endangered
ecosystems and plant populations including not vascular plants like mosses. Plants make up a very
large part of the natural environment. Plants do not just provide people and animals with food but also
with shelter for animals, prevents erosion and the most important part is that plants provide us with
oxygen (McMahon,

How Networks Work And Different Types Of Them
Here I will explain a few keywords that will be frequently used in the PowerPoint Today we will learn
about networks. We will learn about how networks work and about the different types of them. You
will also learn about all of the Physical devices in a network which make it work. The First Type of
network we will talk about it LAN this stands Local Area Network. LAN networks can range in size
from two computers, but the size is limitless from there the only restriction is hardware. One example
of a LAN is your home network you have different device that connect to each other to get a service,
which is the internet. LANs use the IEEE standards to make sure there is inter compatibility between
different hardware from different manufacturers on LANs. LANs also use a range of protocols to help
provide different functions, for example LANs use the TCP/IP protocol suite to communicate with
WANs such as the internet. LANs may also use the token ring protocol to control network access also
they may use Fibre Distributed Data Interface to provide a backbone for LANs spread over large
distances. Normally LANs in a corporate network can be a mixture of wireless and wired connections
they use different technologies to avoid network collisions. The best way to think of network
collisions is like a tunnel with cars going through and if two cars want to go down the same lane at the
same time they will collide this would prevent the car from getting to its destination, this is the same

Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes Essay
Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes In 1651, Thomas Hobbes published Leviathan, his famous work that
detailed his physicalist outlook and his concept of the value of a social contract for a peaceful society
and the nature of man. His major belief was that man is a beast that defines his identity through the
need to be controlled under some kind of external, oppressive power. This essay will explain Hobbes
views of man s identity in the society and will demonstrate how it was mirrored in the political
structure. In Hobbes work, he explained that if individuals within a society continually lived by their
own self interests, they would continue to hurt each other and be stuck in a state of war, or chaos. If
the members of society were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this state of war, says Hobbes, the continual fear of our neighbors would reduce our lives to:
solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. It would be solitary because we have no reason to trust anyone
else; poor because we have no possible benefit of commerce in such war; nasty because we are
continually threatened and fearful of one another; brutish because we only have time to act on our
passions like our fellow animals; and short because war of all against all results in many untimely and
violent deaths. 1 This incredibly pessimistic account of the nature of human life, Hobbes says, is born
in part by the actions of all of us, when, without any thinking, we arm ourselves and lock our doors.
Does not there as much accuse of mankind by his actions as I do with my words? But neither of us
accuse man s nature in it. The desires and the other passions of man, are in themselves no sin. No
more are the actions, that proceed from those passions, till they know a law that forbids them: which
till laws be made they cannot know: nor can a law be made, till they have agreed upon the person to
make it. 2 Accordingly, by arming ourselves and locking our doors, Hobbes political
recommendations reflect the way we live. In today s society it seems that no one believes in anything
but money, which is leaving us morally bankrupt. People do what meets their own self interests. This
moral disintegration pulses through

Case Study On Hip Fracture Surgery
Similar results were reported by another study (Blewitt and Mortimore, 1992) with 20 dislocations
occurring in a series of 1000 patients. Their dislocation rate was 2 % in patients with earlier designs of
hemiarthroplasty including Austin Moore and Thompson hemiarthroplasty implants. However, one
study has shown higher hip dislocation rates (6%) after modular unipolar hemiarthroplasty (Ninh et
al., 2009) and others (Pajarinen et al., 2003; Noon et al., 2005) reporting 4 % 6.5% dislocation rates
with 86.9% dislocation occurring on the same admission of their fracture surgery. One prospective

Furthermore, this group of patients who had dislocations in our study, belong to similar age group to
those who didn t dislocate their hemiarthroplasty (84.39 years vs 84.76 years and p= 0.7930).
Similarly, male and female representations of patients in both dislocation and non dislocation group
were not statistically different (Table 2). However, our study revealed that all patients who dislocated
their hemiarthroplasty were from ASA grade III compared to 62.9 % patients with ASA grade III in
non dislocation group. This 100% representation of ASA Grade III in dislocation group in our study is
much higher than our usual patient group as well as ASA grades in fracture neck of femur patients
published in literature. In our 734 patients who received CPT, only in 33.8 % (248) patients, surgeons
used choice of extended offset or neck extensions and in remaining 66.2% (486) patients, standard
offset implants were used. Our dislocation rate in this group of patients, where surgeons used extra
offset or modularity, was similar to those patients where standard offset stems were used. Dislocation
rate was 1.61 % compared to 1.85% respectively. There was no statistical difference between the two
groups (p= 0.8165). This result also seems to be within

A Hairstylist s Day Essay

best. That is why I decided to become a hairstylist. The idea of cutting hair has always been a dream
for me ever since I was a small child growing up. I would take my Barbie dolls and pretend I was a

I can expect a crowd of people around the time of noon to 3 P.M. This is when red tickets are issued
with numbers on them and customers are waiting to be called. The public can be described as raunchy,
vulgar, and rude at times. Strangely, I seem to enjoy what I do. In my eyes, I see myself as an artist
and each individual that takes a seat in my chair is a piece of work ready to be turned into a
masterpiece. I create a visual before cutting the hair. I look at the anatomy of the head and decide what
type of haircut will fit with the head. This makes a major difference because the aftermath of the
haircut determines whether or not the haircut fits the person. I like to see satisfied faces at the end of
each cut, trim, style or shave. Fortunately there are days that can be better than others.
For instance, when a customer comes into my shop and asks me to create an impossible hairstyle such
as a French twist up do with drop curls, I try my best to make this happen. Although in my eyes I see
this as almost impossible, my motive is to give the customers what they want so they will be happy
and satisfied. This will also encourage them to come back for another haircut knowing they left with a
positive experience from my salon. Sometimes trying to be too perfect can have its downfalls. I

Essay on Colonialism
Colonialism
It is almost a given now that most everyone considers colonialism as a mistake. They thought that the
spreading of ideas, culture, and religion would have a positive effect on the native cultures they
colonized. In fact though, these changes had an adverse effect on the peoples of these countries. For
although many laud the efforts of these countries to spread Christianity, some question the motives of
these countries in dealing the everyday needs of these people. In seeing the natives as inferior the
mother countries were able to justify their treatment of them. At this time many subscribed to the
belief of manifest destiny and social Darwinism. This is the belief in which the colonizing of other
countries is justified ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact probably the best method would have been to leave the history part of education in the hands of
the natives. In other subjects, such as math, the colonizing may then be able to add insights that may
not have been apparent to the natives. But as for the history of the country, there is nothing that a
colonizing country can tell a native culture that wasn t already known.
As Jamaica Kincaid implies in her book, if there is one thing that was sorely missed after the English
left Antigua it is the fact that for the first time in Antigua there were quality built, well organized
places to learn. As kincaid explains in the book, the beautiful library built by the British has since been
demolished. And although the renovations for a new one were supposed to end years ago it hasn t
worked out that way. The library has now been moved to a tiny apartment above a grocery store.
Where once these books had been categorically stacked on shelves, they were now gathering dust,
strewn across the floor and randomly inserted into cardboard boxes. This demise of education in
Antigua says only one thing to me, that being that the emphasis of the government is in the wrong
place. It is true that Antigua has had their problems with a corrupt government that is more interested
in padding their pockets with foreign money than doing anything to improve the state of education.
For what does it mean when you have a Minister of Education, possibly that

According to the researchers of mayoclinic.org, Radiation Oncology is the practice of regulating high
dosages of radiation to kill cancerous cells. In this job several small tasks accumulate into a complex
system. A radiation oncologist can expect to: place radioactive material into the body to locate and

diminish harmful exposure to radiation, and to console other oncologists about methods such as

Identity in Society Ragtime by E.L. Doctorow emphasizes the difference between identity and status
in and outside of society by using the characters pursuit of self within the novel. Coalhouse Walker is
the main representation of how a character s identity is indefinitely shaped by his choices and can lead
to various consequences. As Coalhouse s personality subtly changes into a new persona, the reader
slowly realizes the drastic importance of choices and perception. Through his portrayal of Coalhouse,
Doctorow conveys that while identity is partly based upon an individual s choices, society s
perception of an individual dictates his perceived identity and status despite the differing views of the
individual himself. To understand Doctorow s big picture of identity and status within society, the
reader must unravel Coalhouse s character by looking at his choices. Doctorow describes Coalhouse s

Macuahuitl Research Paper
The macuahuitl is an ancient Aztec weapon that looks noticeably like a sword but can also be
classified as a club. I, like the macuahuitl, am not defined by one name or classification. My life is a
development of innumerable characteristics. The macuahuitl, on the surface, is a simple weapon, but it
can be broken down to observe its complexities. The macuahuitl has an interesting history, and it
portrays life in general and my personality in more ways than one. The development of a weapon
allows us to peer into its use and the thoughts behind the weapon. The macuahuitl was made out of a
wood plank with a narrow handle and wide paddle. What made it dangerous was the razor like
volcanic rock protruding out of the paddle which acted like a thousand fire ants biting into the skin.
The Aztecs used this weapon as the uttermost important weapon in their arsenal. Columbus was
enchanted by it, which is exemplified by the fact that he arranged for one to be sent to Spain. The
weapon started as a terse, one handed weapon, and it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

macuahuitl was used only when enemies were close. I use my words, actions, and time to the
disservice of others, even though I do not kill them. In the same manner, the macuahuitl was used to

Male Homosexual Roles Amog the Isthmus Zapotec of Southern Mexico
Carlos and Javier are two men living in the city of Juchit #8747;n, Mexico. They work at a small hotel
just off the z calo, the main town square. Sometimes they converge with other men outside the hotel to
watch people as they walk past in the z calo. As nearly anywhere in Mexico, the men comment and
nudge each other when an attractive woman passes, but Carlos and Javier remain silent throughout the
exchange. It is not until an attractive young man walks by that they speak up. ãÃUy, que guapo!ä
Carlos exclaims: ãAh, how handsome!äÊ Carlos and Javier are muxeâ, the effeminate male

Muxeâs typically occupy work that would otherwise fall into the female sphere, such as selling in
the marketplace and operating cantinas, though some do take work that falls into the male category, as
with those who work in the petroleum industry. Carlos and Javier, however, fall into neither group.
Their work cooking and cleaning at the hotel generally falls into the category of womenâs work, but
few self respecting Zapotec women would do such work as a profession, outside her own home. Jobs
like these, mainly involving housekeeping, are dominated by muxeâs, as is the highly specialized
and respected field of dance instruction, according to my informants.
Sexual relations among the muxeâ seem to be most public with mayates, though some muxeâs
may enter into relations with other muxeâs. Muxeâs and mayates attend fiestas, weddings, and
dances together as would a heterosexual couple, and their presence is not viewed as unusual. As many
women dance with each other rather than with men, so too are muxeâs often seen dancing with other
muxeâs, though this does not indicate a sexual relationship. Muxeâs and mayates can occasionally
be seen kissing in public places as would many heterosexual couples.
Muxeâs interact freely with both men and women, entering into scenarios in both the male and
female spheres with relative ease. Muxeâs often enter into joking banter with

Workplace, Mediation, Conciliation And Arbitration
INTRODUCTION:
Case 2 is about a casual worker who has cerebral palsy (disability) and he was dismissed when he was
verbally abusive to a manager who was criticising his quality of work. As a Union representative, this
report outlines and addresses the role of union, the rights of the employees in this case, and the dispute
resolution process, which will include negotiation, mediation, conciliation and arbitration.
In this case, the rights of the casual worker were breached by his manager in the workplace and those
rights were Anti Discrimination and Unfair Dismissal which are considered as legal workplace rights
of employees. This report also addresses the ten minimum National Employment Standards which are
rights that are entitled to employees. This report also lists the rights of a Casual worker as the
employee is a Casual worker.
This report also addresses the dispute resolution process and different steps to solve a the dispute
between two parties. Those steps are known as Negotiation, Mediation, Conciliation and Arbitration.
Most of these steps require a third party who helps in offering advice or examining the dispute within
the workplace or making an agreement for two parties to agree on. There are some disadvantages in
the process of these steps and they can end up in a failure to resolve the dispute and if that happens,
then the two parties move onto the next step.

Four Examples Of Laws Or Regulations That Affect Fire...
Four examples of laws or regulations that affect fire service managers and their employees. Patrick
Latham Columbia Southern University Abstract There are a multitude of laws and regulations that
provide guidance to managers and employees as to what their rights and responsibilities are in the
workplace. These laws and regulations originate from all three branches of government and
enforcement occurs at the local, state, and federal level. As firefighters, it is incumbent upon us to be
aware of these laws and regulations and to be aware that we can be held civilly as well as criminally
responsible for our actions. In the following paper, we will examine four cases where firefighters or
fire agencies failed to be cognizant of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The EEOC investigated and attempted to resolve the matter without filing a lawsuit, but the fire
district was adamant in their denial that any discrimination took place against the firefighters (Long
Island Newsday, 2008). Prior to trial, the Easton s Neck Fire District decided to settle the case with the
EEOC and agreed to make retroactive payments to the firefighters. There is no reason given as to why
the fire district decided to settle but even a cursory examination of the Age Discrimination in
Employment Act (ADEA) shows that the district would not have prevailed in court. This federal law
plainly states that workers age 40 and over are protected from age discrimination and by denying
pension or retirement benefits based on age the fire district was in violation (EEOC, 2009). The
second case we are going to look at concerns a failure to act lawsuit brought against the Washington
DC fire and EMS and the city s former medical director for the death of a patient that was
misdiagnosed by the department s paramedics as to have been suffering from acid reflux when in
reality he was suffering cardiac failure. The suit further alleges that not only did the paramedics fail to
diagnose his condition, they failed to warn him that his signs and symptoms could be of a more
serious condition. (Varone, DC Fire and EMS Sued for $17 million Heart Attack not Acid Reflux,

Experimental Oral Controlled Release And Site Specific...
ABSTRACT Oral controlled release and site specific drug delivery system has been of great interest
in pharmaceutical field to achieve improved therapeutic advantage. Drug absorption in the
gastrointestinal tract is a highly variable procedure and prolonging gastric retention of the dosage form
extends the time for drug absorption. Gastro retentive drug delivery system is one of such novel
approaches to prolong gastric residence time, thereby targeting site specific drug release in the
stomach for local or systemic effects. This approach is useful particularly for the drugs which have
narrow absorption window in the upper part of gastro intestinal tract. Various approaches of gastro
retentive drug delivery system, such as floating and non floating, have been discussed in this review.
This review also gives an overview of merits, demerits and evaluation parameters of gastro retentive
system.
Key words: Gastro retentive drug delivery system, non floating system, floating system, evaluation

INTRODUCTION: Despite the tremendous advancement in drug delivery, oral route is the most
preferred route to the systemic circulation due to the ease of administration, low cost of drug, patient
compliance and flexibility in formulation. About 90% of all drugs used to produce systemic effects are
administered by oral route. Of the drugs that are administered orally, solid oral dosage forms represent
the preferred class of products. Tablets are the most common type of

Essay about Cost Accounting Analysis
3.0 Variance Analysis
3.1 Flexible Budget Variance Analysis
In Barnes Scuba Diving case, the main comparison for the flexible budget variance analysis would be
between the actual results and flexible budget. Static budget would not be useful for this comparison
due to the different sales unit output which may result in a misleading and inaccurate result
comparison.
With reference to the Flexible Budget Section attached in Annex X, Flexible Budget Variance for
Revenues was identified to be a favourable variance of $50,400 due to the fact that there was an
increase of 216 participants on top of the budgeted 1800 participants and also an additional increased
in course fee of $25 on top of the budgeted $350(selling price per unit). This ... Show more content on

This resulted in more resources to be consumed, an additional 504 (25%x2, 016 units) manuals cost to
be incurred, which resulted in the unfavourable quantity variance ($6,048). An actual cost of $4788
(504 units X$2.50) was incurred due to the manuals being replaced free of charge. Barnes had to bear
responsibility to replace them free of charge as the low quality manuals were due to Barnes decision to
use cheaper printer. In this case, Barnes was still able to absorb the cost of replacing the manuals free
of charge as the total savings from using the cheaper printer is more than the total cost of replacing. In
the long run, Barnes may also have to consider if customers value of this manual, which was not
mention in the case. If customer does not value the manual and Barnes can keep up with the cost of
replacement, then using the cheaper printer may ultimate be an advantage to Barnes. This would be
the trade off that Barnes would have to consider for using cheaper quality printer.
3.2.2.3 Dive Logbooks
The unfavourable price ($1854.40) and quantity ($2419.20) variances of dive logbooks were caused
mainly by the additional 302 logbooks being consumed and increase cost of $0.80 per logbook. The
increase cost from the standard cost $8 was controllable by Barnes and justified with the improve
quality of the logbook. This

The Conflict Of Fiduciary Duty
Question A: SUCCESSIVE CONFLICT Fiduciary Duty Practitioners must not accept a retainer in any
action against a former client or someone from whom they have obtained confidential and material
information and it is reasonable to conclude that there is a real possibility the information will be used
to the persons detriment. There was no retainer between Virginia and Teddy, but a duty of
confidentiality could still apply in equity if the information was believed to be confidential or in a
lawyer client relationship. Because of the informal social setting and lack of detailed information
exchanged, it is likely that Virginia does not owe Teddy a fiduciary duty or duty of confidence. If
Virginia does owe Teddy a fiduciary duty, the onus of proof is on Teddy to show whether she has
confidential information, whether that information is relevant to the new matter and whether it is
reasonable for Teddy to conclude that there is a real risk that the information will be used to his
detriment. Next, the onus shifts to whether information screening can appropriately protect the firm.
Breach of confidence in equity requires confidential information that has the necessary quality of
confidence, imparted in circumstances importing an obligation of confidence, not otherwise required
by law or in the public interest. The objective test for judicial intervention is whether a reasonable
observer would perceive a real possibility of misuse of confidential information. Courts will

Essay on History Impacts Intercultural Communication
History Impacts Intercultural Communication
Why would it be important to examine the role of history in Intercultural Communication?
When we examine the role of history in Intercultural Communication, we gain an understanding of
how our past influences our communication skills with people from other cultures. We need to learn
and understand why we communicate the way we do. It can be very helpful in improving our relations
with other cultures. Studying the histories of cultures that are different from ours gives us a frame of
reference that can lead to better intercultural communication. It is not only important to study the
histories of other countries cultures but our own American subcultures as well. We need to understand

National histories are usually recorded in some way so as to preserve them for future generations to
learn from. Typically, a nation will only teach its own history to its students and only touch upon the
histories of other nations as they pertain to our own.
How is the history of gays and lesbians relevant to intercultural communication? Whether mainstream
society likes to admit it or not, gays and lesbians have their own sub culture. It is a sub culture that has
existed since the beginning of time but has only recently been recognized as a reality. Homosexuals
have a place in the histories of every culture throughout the world. As stated in a previous paragraph,
all histories are important to intercultural communication. When we learn about and understand other
cultures we create the ability to communicate more effectively with others. The history of gays and
lesbians has a place within every culture so it is just as important to intercultural communication as
any other histories are.
How can we negotiate histories in interactions? When we interact with people from other cultures it is
important to understand that there is a history behind how they view us and how we view them. Many
cultures within our country, as well as throughout the world, have such different belief systems from
ours that if we don t make a point of learning about the history behind other belief systems

The J. Paul Getty Museum
For this essay, we were required to go to the Getty Villa in Malibu and look for specific works of art in
the J. Paul Getty Museum. The Getty Villa is on a hill adjacent to Malibu beach and requires a
reservation to get inside. They do not allow pedestrian entrances, so I had to take public transportation
and show proof of my Metro bus receipt to get in. Once inside, I took a shuttle up a curvy hill to the
actual museum. When I got to the actual entrance, I was taken aback by how beautiful not only the
view was, but the Villa was as well. It did not take me long to find the five artworks. The first work of
art we were required to look at was a grave stele. There were a collection of them against a wall on the
second floor of the Getty Villa. The one that stuck out the most to me was titled Grave Stele of
Herophanta and Posideos which was dated around 150 B.C. It is a Greek grave stele that was made in
Smyrna, which is what we today call Turkey. The stele was around 4 feet tall and made out of marble.
The back of the stele was not viewable, but the front had a lot of detail. On the front at the top displays
what resembles a triangular pediment typically seen in Greek temples. Underneath that are two wreath
like objects. In the center, there is a portrait that shows a family consisting of a husband and wife with
two children. The woman is holding a wreath and the two kids are crowded around the father. Each
member of the family is wearing stylized drapery. Underneath the

35% in Potoroo 1, and well over 20% in Gnarlyknots 1A even below 3000 m), but they may lack an

Other principal reservoir candidates are deltaic sandstones of the Ceduna and Platypus formations,
where porosities of up to 30% have been encountered. Locally, marine sandstones of the Tiger
Supersequence (Wigunda and Potoroo formations) also have excellent reservoir quality. Away from
regional highs, prodelta mudstone of the Wigunda Formation provides an effective seal for these
highly porous intervals. Of secondary interest are fluviolacustrine lithologies intersected within the
Loongana and lower Borda formations. Although of highly variable reservoir quality, these intervals
have poor to moderate overall porosity, mainly due to the high depth of burial. Shales of the Madura
and Toondi formations and intraformational shale of the Loongana Formation can provide adequate
seal for these potential reservoirs. Major cap rocks exist in the Borda and Neptune formations.
Excellent quality reservoir rocks have been encountered in the overlying Eucla Basin, within the
marine Wobbegong Supersequence (Pidinga Formation and Hampton Sandstone). 6.4 Timing of
Maturation and Migration Present day maturity levels, based on the constraints described above, are
shown in Figure 16. On the northern transect (Fig. 16a), the oil window is typically reached at depths
between 2.0 and 2.5 km below sea surface. Thus, along this transect, the lower Tiger Supersequence is

Mass Casualty Incident Essay
Mass casualty incident by definition is any incident, which because of its physical size, the number
and criticality of victims, or its complexity, is likely to overwhelm those local resources which would
typically be available (Mass, 2017). Many actions are taken initially upon the choice to make a
pronouncement to classify a situation mass casualty incident. These consist of initial actions, which
can include assessment of the scene, request for additional resources such as chemical isolation as an
example, scene set up, such as triage area and transport. All of these beginning stages will likely be
performed by a medical officer who will assign roles for personnel to fulfill. As a nurse things to do to
prepare to be part of that team are to understand the triage classifications. This important and can be
difficult to achieve especially in a situation where people who may be badly injured yet classified as
green are calling for help. Doing triage exercises and becoming familiar with the type of injuries that
come from a mass casualty incident, and having the ability to stabilize a patient that may need
intervention to stay alive are ways to prepare in case of a mass casualty event. For a nurse that is not

Self Dehumanization
Power allows people to control outcomes with respect to both the environment and the self . This
control is considered to be a fundamental human need ; therefore, it follows that powerlessness will
disrupt an individual s sense of humanity, which coincides with the fact that many civilizations have
equated power deprivation with humbleness, lowliness, and fewer expressed human traits. We based
the current study on this notion in order to demonstrate that perceived powerlessness induces self
dehumanization.
The world is changing rapidly. From the Stone Age to the Iron Age today we are living in an
ultramodern era where things which were not even thought of earlier have become vital necessities in
our life. For example, light in those ages was to be got only from sun for a limited part of day. But
now we have electricity for all time use. Thanks to Thomas Alva Edison who by inventing electricity
illuminated the whole world.
Now we can t think life without electricity. In big cities everything depends upon it. We find ourselves
completely paralysed whenever there is power failure in our area. Electricity provides all comforts of
life and life would be completely different in absence of it.
We will have to use earthen lamps, lantern or candle light instead of electric bulbs and tubes as it is
now. If there would have been no electricity, people would not have become so luxurious with coolers,
airconditioners, refrigerators, room heaters and other electric appliances. The

Tombstone Film Analysis
Tombstone The Wild West, following the civil war, and even after reconstruction, was a place filled
with surprising and fascinating characters, including the well known and quite stereotypical character
of the western cowboy. Though not all cowboys are presented in a bad or harsh manner, some,
including the ones in George P. Cosmatos gritty and bloody shoot em up western film, are. While
some may be dubious of the apparent luck and skill of some of the gunmen such as Doc Holliday and
Wyatt Earp, many of the gunfights did have real witnesses, rendering them real. The film is extremely
accurate, and George P. Cosmatos made sure of it, lining the streets and towns in the movie with dusty,
sandy, dirty people, period style horses and carriages and amazing costume design. Even the fast
moving gunfight at the O.K. Corral is portrayed almost completely historically. The film afforded only
a few occasions when continuity and story progression was deemed more important than historical
accuracy. The technical aspects as well, such as the cinematography, hearty gunshots by the sound
design crew, and editing make Tombstone a very action packed and fun to watch movie ... Show more

Even though each actor was sure to bring his own style to the character he/she was playing, it does not
diminish accuracy of the characters, and most likely adds to the enjoyment of the film as a whole as
each character had some stellar lines, such as Doc Holliday s, I m your huckleberry and, I ll be a daisy

A Woman s Best Quality Eggs
A woman is at her most fertile when she is in the ages 20 to 24. Infertility is generally defined as the
inability to conceive after one year of unprotected sex. At the age of 30 fertility starts to gradually
decline, the chance of successfully conceiving each cycle drops from 22% to just 6 to 8% between 30
and 40 years of age. This big drop in fertility is due to the ageing of a female s eggs. When born
women have around a million eggs, by the time they reach their mid thirties this number will have
dropped to around 25,000. Unfortunately, a woman s best quality eggs will likely have been used up
when younger, meaning the ones left over are of a worse quality and therefore less fertile. Women also
release fewer eggs when they get older. In terms of successful IVF treatment (which is more often
used by older women), for women under 35 years the success rate is around 27%, but for women over
40 years old that drops to as low as 6%. The graph to the left shows the general trend in the drop in
fertility, backing up what was said earlier, and further backed up by Benjamin Younger, the executive
director of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. He states that fertility continues to
decline after the age of 35 but takes a nosedive at the age of 38. Clearly fertility is something to be
worried about, and looking at these stats it is well worth getting pregnant younger in order to have a
better chance of getting pregnant and also having good quality eggs still. Health

My Career Goals
Success, failures, experiences, trials, and tribulations usually shape up the life and career of a person. I
am no exception to this idea. My experiences have taught me lessons. My mistakes have helped me to
grow. My successes have humbled me. My fear of the unknown has helped me face life.
I hail from a city called Chennai from the South of India and I grew up in a family rich in traditions
and orthodoxy. An age long tradition in India dictates children to decide on a career path as early as
sixth grade. Especially in a family of educated people like the one I was brought up in, children are
encouraged to think about what they want to become ever since they are toddlers trying to learn the
alphabets. Furthermore, it is also customary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This company organized various events such as music concerts, weddings, and even corporate events.
It was during that audit I found an echo of my passion for management and planning. In addition to
the audit work, I closely observed other things happening in the company and its management. My
interactions with the employees, the management staff, and the promoters helped me to learn about the
management and the running of a company. There was never a dull moment as I grasped a lot of
knowledge from what they did. My stint in the event management company sowed the seeds of my
enthusiasm for organization and management. Thereafter, I was dreaming of running my own
company and thoroughly enjoying the work. Although my father s efforts could not convince me to
like accounting, it led me to my new found passion. There was some genuine excitement in knowing
that the field of accountancy, in a way, was chosen for me, but a career in management would reflect
my choice. Furthermore, this choice was purely motivated by my passion and enthusiasm.
In the next couple of days, a bone curdling thought that I could have committed a blunder by
continuing the Chartered Accountancy profession dawned on me. Muddled and terrified, I prepared
myself to verbalize my decision to my parents. I knew that they would not take it very well but I also
had to believe that at the end of the day they would put my happiness ahead of their feelings.
Ever since I was a toddler, I dreamed of breaking free

Music And The Second World War
Music and the Second World War Adam Griffin South Piedmont Community College Music
Appreciation 110 Mr. Campbell In World War II, jazz absolutely was the music of freedom, and then
in the Cold War, behind the Iron Curtain, same thing. It was all underground, but they needed the food
of freedom that jazz offered Herbie Hancock. Looking back into history, you could create a timeline of
events with nothing but song titles. Music was not just music, it was a lifestyle. Every major event in
history has numerous songs that go along with or describe the happening. In the following paragraphs,
I will describe aspects and elements of music for pre World War II, World War II, and post World War
II. One could say that music was a form of expression throughout the times of war, and the songs
produced during this time period clearly express all aspects of life before, during, and after the war.
Pre World War II had a huge impact on the course of our nation and our world; not only musically
speaking, but also in the terms of historical events. During this time we saw events such as the Wright
brother s first flight of an airplane in 1903, Ford Motor Co. introducing its first Model T vehicle in
1908, World War I from 1914 to 1918, the stock market crash in 1929 resulting in the start of the great
depression, the beginning of World War II in Europe in 1939, and the end of the great depression in
1940. When musically speaking of this time period, one style stands out

Analysis Of Nominative Proxy Signatures By Mambo Et Al [
Abstract: Nominative proxy signatures are a special type of proxy signatures in which the original
signer delegates his signing rights to proxy signer and proxy signer on behalf of the original signer
generates the signatures intended for nominee in such a way that only the nominee can verify the
signatures and if required he is the only one to prove the validity of the signatures to third party. In this
paper, we transfer the concept of nominative proxy signatures from elliptical curves to braid groups
and so present the maiden nominative proxy signatures based on braid groups. Keywords: nominative
proxy signatures, braid group, conjugacy search problem I. INTRODUCTION Ever since the creation
of proxy signatures by Mambo et al [ ] in 1996, different variation of proxy signatures like self proxy
signatures [], designated verifier proxy [] , and many more have been created by the researchers and
one of them is nominative proxy signatures also. These signatures gives signing rights to proxy signer,
to sign the message intended for the nominee in a way that nominee is the only person to verify the
signature. Nominative proxy signatures are of two types: original nominative proxy signatures where
original signer nominates the nominee and proxy nominative proxy signatures where proxy signer can
nominate the nominee. Moreover, this signature satisfies all the basic properties of proxy signatures.
Highly non abelian groups proposed by Artin [1] called Braid groups are also

Why I Was The Only Person Who Was Ready
My thirteen year old mind could not handle waiting idly in an uncomfortable, wooden chair. By that
time, my powdered makeup had turned into beads of liquid. Can we please leave, I yelled we re going
to be late! In response to no response, I stood up from my chair and marched into my cousin s room. I
was startled as I walked in on one of the most frantic scenes I had ever witnessed. There were clothes
sprawled on the floor, makeup powder on the dresser and jewelry on the bed. My cousins and aunts
were running around the room; some were getting ready, some were arguing and some were talking on
the phone. The mixture of heat and expensive perfume was asphyxiating. We re going to miss the trip
tia ! I failed to understand why I was the only person who was ready. We had all been aware of our
reservations for the party boat in Old San Juan for almost a week.
We re almost ready Val, go start the car. Her response was almost humorous because I knew she was
nowhere near being ready. On her head, rested her shower cap and in the closet, hung her dress.
Respectfully, I continued to follow her orders and accept our inevitable lateness.
I was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico on February,4th, 1999. Since that day, I have come to the
conclusion that no one on the island is familiar with the concept of time. Puerto Ricans often jokingly
regard reoccurring tardiness as a common quality. Along with their skewed view of time, they also
seem to have an aversion to frugality. Unfortunately,

Why Not Have A Co-President Instead Of A Vice President
Vice President Everyone is familiar with the president of the United States and his role in the
government, but not is as familiar with the vice president. Believe it or not, the vice president has
more responsibilities than take over, if an accident happens to the president. Three Vice Presidents in
particular have recently molded the office: Al Gore, Dick Cheney, and Joe Biden. Why not have a co
president instead of a vice president anyway? If that were the case, things could be devastating.
According to the Constitution of the United States, there are only two specified roles of the vice
president. One of them enables the vice president to be the deciding vote in the case of a tie in the
Senate. The other specified role requires

Cosmetic Changes Of Medical Technology
Introduction
With the development of medical technology, many ambulatories and cosmetic changes can be done
by surgical services. This has lead the demand for surgical services to grow rapidly in the past decade.
The ambulatory surgery in United States hospitals had increased to 2.9 million procedures, according
to the data from American Hospital Association. As medical technology has developed day by day,
some hospitals have introduced digital operating room, tele surgery, and robotic assistants. These
modern technologies can offer shorter hospital stays, less pain, faster recovery and fewer
complications. However, many new technologies come with many requirement checks, safety checks,
etc. that cause a delay with the pre surgical check. In general, surgical services cost about 40% of the
hospital s overall revenue. However, operating room performance has many issues that cause
inefficiencies and delays in the operation. A study shows that if the hospitals can operate one more
procedure per day per operation room, it could translate to an additional $4 million to $7 million in
annual revenue.
Summary
A large number of hospitals are having a delay in processing time. They are expecting six sigma to be
a useful tool to enhance the quality of operating room process. The project has set several target areas
to improve. These areas include improving the first case start time, optimizing technologies,
improving room turnover times, ensuring appropriate scheduling, improving

Essay on Immanuel Kant
Immanuel Kant 1724 1804
Immanuel Kant was born on April 22, 1724 in Konigsberg, East Prussia. He was the son of a saddler.
At age 8, he entered the Collegium Fredericianum, a Latin school, where he remained for 8 1/2 years
and studied the classics. He then entered the University of Konigsberg in 1740 to study philosophy,
mathematics, and physics. The death of his father halted his university career so he became a private
tutor. In 1755, he returned to Konigsburg where he later resumed his studies. In 1756, he received a
degree and was made a lecturer, and in 1770 he became a professor.
Kant felt he had to adhere to a very strict schedule during his years as a professor. He would get up
shortly before five ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1798, the year following his retirement from the University, Kant published a summary of his
religious views. He died on February 12, 1804.
During his lifetime, Kant produced many writings. Scholars usually divide his literary career into two
periods: the Pre critical period and the Critical period. During the Pre critical period, 1747 to 1781, he
wrote many non fictional works and criticisms. Some of them were quot;Thoughts on the True
Estimation of Living Forces quot;, quot;On Fire quot;, quot;A New Explanation of the First Principles
of Metaphysical Knowledge quot;, and quot;On the Forms and Principles of the Sensible and
Intelligible World quot;. From 1770 to 1780, he mainly worked on preparing quot; The Critique of
Pure Reason quot;.
The Critical period lasted from 1781 to 1794. During this period, he wrote quot; The Critique of Pure
Reason quot; in 1781, and quot;Foundation for the Metaphysics of Ethics quot; in 1785. Following the
critical works, Kant published quot;Critique of Practical Reason quot;, quot;Critique of Judgment
quot;, and quot;Religion within the Limits of Mere Reason quot;.
Three main discussions of Kant are Duty, the Formula of the End, and the Kingdom of Ethics. Kant
feels that we act morally when we do our duty, however it is important to distinguish between acting
according to duty and acting from duty. Acting according to duty is when someone else has imposed
the duty. This is an

Synthetic Concussions
Fewer injuries. Durability and an even playing surface mean fewer injuries. Grass gets torn up by
rough play, bad weather or both and it eventually turns into vast patches of slippery mud (see photos
to the right). Synthetic turf, the other hand, remains consistent, making play on it predictable and safer.
Synthetic turf also has better shock attenuation than natural grass. This is especially important for
impact sports like football, lacrosse and soccer, all of which currently play or seek to play on
Memorial Field.
In February 2015, Wesleyan University reported that they have seen a significant reduction in reported
concussions since installing their synthetic turf field two years ago.
Lower maintenance costs. There s no need to mow synthetic turf, which in the growing season, can be
as often as 2 to 3 times a week. This saves on fuel and labor costs. ... Show more content on

What Is My Dream Job Essay
Pursuing My Dream Job Everyone wants to be something when they grow up, and there are millions
of professions to choose from. During my four long years of high school, I have learned and
experienced many things in and out of the classroom. Some of it helped me decide what profession I
wanted to pursue when I graduated, but I mostly got the idea when I was eleven years old and my
sister had her triplets that were born premature. I want to have a job that gives back to the community,
that involves children and infants. I ve had a lot of time to think about what I want to be when I
graduate from high school. As a freshman and sophomore, thinking about a profession was not a
priority because I thought I had plenty of time to decide. As I approached the time that I will be on my
own, I started to panic a little. This profession that I chose will most likely be my job for most of my
life. I thought of all the terrible things that could come out of picking the wrong profession. What if I
end up hating this job? What if I won t be able to meet the qualifications of the profession I decide to
pursue? Thanks to my mom, she calmed me down and always had an answer. I was ... Show more

The main one is because I will have the privilege to help the children and infants of my community.
As I work with them, I think it would be so cool to discover their personalities and see their progress. I
had nieces and nephews ever since I was four. I was drawn to them from the day they were born,
spending a lot of time babysitting and playing with them. Because of this opportunity, I get to see how
different each one is. I don t have any younger siblings, so when I am around my nieces and nephews,
I learn how a child develops and matures. I understand how they act when they are going through
different emotions. I think this is a great start to becoming a nurse, because now I know how to
interact with and care for children and

Exegetical Summary Of The Military
Having briefly offered some exegetical notes on the original parable I will now offer a retelling of the
parable for a modern military audience. In this retelling I will attempt to capture the vividness, the
realism and the shock of the original. There was once a Marine that was sent into Iraq to fight for his
country. One day on a routine trip through occupied Bagdad, the Marine s convey fell under heavy fire
and their vehicle was destroyed. The Marine was knocked to the ground dying and unconscious while
a firefight broke out. After a while a soldier from the army came by. Thinking that he was dead, the
soldier left him and continued fighting. Some more time passed and finally a Marine came by.
Thinking that he was dead, the fellow Marine

Petrochina Case Analysis PetroChina Case Analysis The article PetroChina: International Corporate Governance with Chinese Characteristics describes the major concerns about PetroChina s corporate governance when and after it was listed on NYSE and HKSE, which was the first Chinese state owned enterprise launched IPO overseas. This paper is based on the information provided by the article and will discuss in three aspects: Firstly, why corporate governance was important for China s SOEs? Secondly, what were the special problems associated with PetroChina s corporate governance model and what could be done to improve it? Finally, the postscript: the things I learn from this case study. Part I Corporate governance is important for companies all around the world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So far, it looks like a draw between the Cons and Pros for investing in PetroChina, right? However, what investor should worry was that the favorable policies or even the whole political atmosphere might change someday, which would become a large political risk. That risk was hard to be eliminated using portfolio diversification since China was going to become the world s 2nd largest economy and would have enormous impact on the economy in the rest of the world. In other words, China s market was too large for investors to avoid and if you want to use risk assets from other areas of the world to diversify the risk from China, the weight of those assets would need to be incredibly too high. Nevertheless, the most interesting part is that investment may be an art of counterbalance and compromise, when you look at the tremendous market volume and brilliant prospectus of China s oil and gasoline market. This country has the largest population of 1.3billion, the second longest highways length of almost 100,000 kilometers and the second largest automobile population of 85 million. And it was growing in average 8% during the years. No one wants to miss the chance to invest in a such economy. As purely international investors with less concern on political right and wrong or environment issues, driven by profit and price of stocks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to civil war, Dayib fled to Finland when she was around 17 and spent twenty six years as a refugee. Despite living the majority of her life in Finland, Dayib s aims have always been to return to Somalia with the hope of bringing skills and education to the country. Currently, she is attempting to take on the role of President, to unify and stabilise Somalia. There are eighteen candidates (she is the only female) for the up coming election in Somalia this month, and Dayib will oppose the current president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. Accused of becoming dictatorial, Sheikh Mohamud has had a history of silencing free press ad making constitutional breaches. Resolving Somalia s political problems also encompass corruption in government. To do this would combat any dependence on the Al Shabaab, an Islamic militant group, which had controlled a lot of the region. To win the election this month, Dayib will face other parties who can, and will, buy votes. When people use pesticide to kill insects it leads to problems because it would transfer from people to animals. Carson shows us when the earth is contaminated with pollution, it is going to take generation after generation to fix. When the chemicals were discovered to make pesticides it was founded by an accident. People started to use pesticides to kill insects, but the pesticide started to make people and animals to get sick or die. The pesticide would enter the body animals or people and it would transfer to the offspring of the animals or human beings. According to Carson pesticide would go to the water supply where people drink from and get sick or die. Carson suggests that we should not stop using pesticide, but to limit our usage of pesticide. Leo suffers from short term memory loss and traces any recent information and memories through tattoos, notes, and photographs. Throughout the film, time is distorted yet linear. Time is treated as a changing, personal force rather than a solely standardized, detached authority. How Does Jesus Talk With A Samaritan Woman Amanda Palato Dr. Layton Jesus and the Gospels 14 May 2018 Jesus Talks With a Samaritan Woman (John 4:1 26) Through Jesus, God s love and deliverance is made accessible for everyone, and through him, you will have everlasting life. In John 6:47, the author states, I am telling you the truth: he who believes has eternal life (NIV). John 4:1 26 directly shows how if you are willing believe in him, you will have eternal life. Jesus will ignore any circumstances of an individual to show his love. However, according to Christians, The significance of Jacob s well is that it provided an opportunity for Jesus to present Himself as the life giving Messiah to a Samaritan woman and, later, to her whole village (What is the significance of Jacob s well?). Previously to this passage, Jesus had performed many signs. One of the most prevalent examples, and the holiest of signs, is when Jesus turns water into wine. This was one of the most symbolic signs Jesus had performed, and showed that Jesus was indeed the Son of God and was going to sacrifice himself for the sake of eternal life for all who believe. Researchers do not just look at the plant but keeps in mind how the plants interact with each other and their environment. A Plant ecologist do not just look at plants but also the soil conditions, animals and other influences that might have an impact on the plants environment. According to McMahon (2016) plant ecology is not just a plant itself but, is everything from understanding the plants environment functions as well as the interaction of humans with the natural environment. The area most focused on in plant ecology is topics like climate change, plant diseases and the symbiotic relationship between plant species and how plants spread in nature (McMahon, 2016). Plant ecology involves a lot of field work because the plant needs to be viewed in their natural habitat to understand why the plant looks like it does. Plant ecology covers a wide range of research for instance the study of plants growing in a specific ecosystem for example the rainforest, or a specific area that is of interest, like a population of plants that is growing next to a polluted river or dam. It can also help researchers to study endangered ecosystems and plant populations including not vascular plants like mosses. Plants make up a very large part of the natural environment. Plants do not just provide people and animals with food but also with shelter for animals, prevents erosion and the most important part is that plants provide us with oxygen (McMahon, ... • 10. How Networks Work And Different Types Of Them Here I will explain a few keywords that will be frequently used in the PowerPoint Today we will learn about networks. We will learn about how networks work and about the different types of them. You will also learn about all of the Physical devices in a network which make it work. The First Type of network we will talk about it LAN this stands Local Area Network. LAN networks can range in size from two computers, but the size is limitless from there the only restriction is hardware. One example of a LAN is your home network you have different device that connect to each other to get a service, which is the internet. LANs use the IEEE standards to make sure there is inter compatibility between different hardware from different manufacturers on LANs. LANs also use a range of protocols to help provide different functions, for example LANs use the TCP/IP protocol suite to communicate with WANs such as the internet. LANs may also use the token ring protocol to control network access also they may use Fibre Distributed Data Interface to provide a backbone for LANs spread over large distances. Normally LANs in a corporate network can be a mixture of wireless and wired connections they use different technologies to avoid network collisions. The best way to think of network collisions is like a tunnel with cars going through and if two cars want to go down the same lane at the same time they will collide this would prevent the car from getting to its destination, this is the same ... Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes Essay Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes In 1651, Thomas Hobbes published Leviathan, his famous work that detailed his physicalist outlook and his concept of the value of a social contract for a peaceful society and the nature of man. His major belief was that man is a beast that defines his identity through the need to be controlled under some kind of external, oppressive power. This essay will explain Hobbes views of man s identity in the society and will demonstrate how it was mirrored in the political structure. In this state of war, says Hobbes, the continual fear of our neighbors would reduce our lives to: solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. It would be solitary because we have no reason to trust anyone else; poor because we have no possible benefit of commerce in such war; nasty because we are continually threatened and fearful of one another; brutish because we only have time to act on our passions like our fellow animals; and short because war of all against all results in many untimely and violent deaths. 1 This incredibly pessimistic account of the nature of human life, Hobbes says, is born in part by the actions of all of us, when, without any thinking, we arm ourselves and lock our doors. Does not there as much accuse of mankind by his actions as I do with my words? But neither of us accuse man s nature in it. The desires and the other passions of man, are in themselves no sin. No more are the actions, that proceed from those passions, till they know a law that forbids them: which till laws be made they cannot know: nor can a law be made, till they have agreed upon the person to make it. 2 Accordingly, by arming ourselves and locking our doors, Hobbes political recommendations reflect the way we live. In today s society it seems that no one believes in anything but money, which is leaving us morally bankrupt. People do what meets their own self interests. I create a visual before cutting the hair. I look at the anatomy of the head and decide what type of haircut will fit with the head. This makes a major difference because the aftermath of the haircut determines whether or not the haircut fits the person. I like to see satisfied faces at the end of each cut, trim, style or shave. They thought that the spreading of ideas, culture, and religion would have a positive effect on the native cultures they colonized. In fact though, these changes had an adverse effect on the peoples of these countries. For although many laud the efforts of these countries to spread Christianity, some question the motives of these countries in dealing the everyday needs of these people. But as for the history of the country, there is nothing that a colonizing country can tell a native culture that wasn t already known. As Jamaica Kincaid implies in her book, if there is one thing that was sorely missed after the English left Antigua it is the fact that for the first time in Antigua there were quality built, well organized places to learn. As kincaid explains in the book, the beautiful library built by the British has since been demolished. And although the renovations for a new one were supposed to end years ago it hasn t worked out that way. The library has now been moved to a tiny apartment above a grocery store. Where once these books had been categorically stacked on shelves, they were now gathering dust, strewn across the floor and randomly inserted into cardboard boxes. This demise of education in Antigua says only one thing to me, that being that the emphasis of the government is in the wrong place. The reason that the U.S.S.R felt the need to compete with the United States because after the power they gained during the Yalta conference they became a large super power and the United States was the only other country big enough to compete with the Soviets. The Soviets wanted control of west Berlin so that they could have all of eastern Europe so they blocked off all ways into west Berlin in a plan to not only compete but try to run the United States out of west Berlin to try and get an upper hand in the cold war and in the at the time possible war between the U.S.S.R and the United States. Doctorow emphasizes the difference between identity and status in and outside of society by using the characters pursuit of self within the novel. Coalhouse Walker is the main representation of how a character s identity is indefinitely shaped by his choices and can lead to various consequences. As Coalhouse s personality subtly changes into a new persona, the reader slowly realizes the drastic importance of choices and perception. Through his portrayal of Coalhouse, Doctorow conveys that while identity is partly based upon an individual s choices, society s perception of an individual dictates his perceived identity and status despite the differing views of the individual himself. To understand Doctorow s big picture of identity and status within society, the reader must unravel Coalhouse s character by looking at his choices. Doctorow describes Coalhouse s initial character as a professional pianist...[who] secured a job with Jim Europe Clef Club Orchestra (Doctorow 158). I, like the macuahuitl, am not defined by one name or classification. My life is a development of innumerable characteristics. The macuahuitl, on the surface, is a simple weapon, but it can be broken down to observe its complexities. The macuahuitl has an interesting history, and it portrays life in general and my personality in more ways than one. The development of a weapon allows us to peer into its use and the thoughts behind the weapon. The macuahuitl was made out of a wood plank with a narrow handle and wide paddle. What made it dangerous was the razor like volcanic rock protruding out of the paddle which acted like a thousand fire ants biting into the skin. These laws and regulations originate from all three branches of government and enforcement occurs at the local, state, and federal level. The EEOC investigated and attempted to resolve the matter without filing a lawsuit, but the fire district was adamant in their denial that any discrimination took place against the firefighters (Long Island Newsday, 2008). Prior to trial, the Easton s Neck Fire District decided to settle the case with the EEOC and agreed to make retroactive payments to the firefighters. There is no reason given as to why the fire district decided to settle but even a cursory examination of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) shows that the district would not have prevailed in court. This federal law plainly states that workers age 40 and over are protected from age discrimination and by denying pension or retirement benefits based on age the fire district was in violation (EEOC, 2009). Drug absorption in the gastrointestinal tract is a highly variable procedure and prolonging gastric retention of the dosage form extends the time for drug absorption. Gastro retentive drug delivery system is one of such novel approaches to prolong gastric residence time, thereby targeting site specific drug release in the stomach for local or systemic effects. This approach is useful particularly for the drugs which have narrow absorption window in the upper part of gastro intestinal tract. Various approaches of gastro retentive drug delivery system, such as floating and non floating, have been discussed in this review. An actual cost of $4788 (504 units X$2.50) was incurred due to the manuals being replaced free of charge. Barnes had to bear responsibility to replace them free of charge as the low quality manuals were due to Barnes decision to use cheaper printer. In this case, Barnes was still able to absorb the cost of replacing the manuals free of charge as the total savings from using the cheaper printer is more than the total cost of replacing. In the long run, Barnes may also have to consider if customers value of this manual, which was not mention in the case. If customer does not value the manual and Barnes can keep up with the cost of replacement, then using the cheaper printer may ultimate be an advantage to Barnes. This would be the trade off that Barnes would have to consider for using cheaper quality printer. 3.2.2.3 Dive Logbooks The unfavourable price ($1854.40) and quantity ($2419.20) variances of dive logbooks were caused mainly by the additional 302 logbooks being consumed and increase cost of $0.80 per logbook. The Conflict Of Fiduciary Duty Question A: SUCCESSIVE CONFLICT Fiduciary Duty Practitioners must not accept a retainer in any action against a former client or someone from whom they have obtained confidential and material information and it is reasonable to conclude that there is a real possibility the information will be used to the persons detriment. There was no retainer between Virginia and Teddy, but a duty of confidentiality could still apply in equity if the information was believed to be confidential or in a lawyer client relationship. Because of the informal social setting and lack of detailed information exchanged, it is likely that Virginia does not owe Teddy a fiduciary duty or duty of confidence. If Virginia does owe Teddy a fiduciary duty, the onus of proof is on Teddy to show whether she has confidential information, whether that information is relevant to the new matter and whether it is reasonable for Teddy to conclude that there is a real risk that the information will be used to his detriment. Next, the onus shifts to whether information screening can appropriately protect the firm. Breach of confidence in equity requires confidential information that has the necessary quality of confidence, imparted in circumstances importing an obligation of confidence, not otherwise required by law or in the public interest. This control is considered to be a fundamental human need ; therefore, it follows that powerlessness will disrupt an individual s sense of humanity, which coincides with the fact that many civilizations have equated power deprivation with humbleness, lowliness, and fewer expressed human traits. We based the current study on this notion in order to demonstrate that perceived powerlessness induces self dehumanization. The world is changing rapidly. From the Stone Age to the Iron Age today we are living in an ultramodern era where things which were not even thought of earlier have become vital necessities in our life. For example, light in those ages was to be got only from sun for a limited part of day. But now we have electricity for all time use. Thanks to Thomas Alva Edison who by inventing electricity illuminated the whole world. Now we can t think life without electricity. In big cities everything depends upon it. We find ourselves completely paralysed whenever there is power failure in our area. Electricity provides all comforts of life and life would be completely different in absence of it. We will have to use earthen lamps, lantern or candle light instead of electric bulbs and tubes as it is now. If there would have been no electricity, people would not have become so luxurious with coolers, airconditioners, refrigerators, room heaters and other electric appliances. The ... • 38. Tombstone Film Analysis Tombstone The Wild West, following the civil war, and even after reconstruction, was a place filled with surprising and fascinating characters, including the well known and quite stereotypical character of the western cowboy. Though not all cowboys are presented in a bad or harsh manner, some, including the ones in George P. Cosmatos gritty and bloody shoot em up western film, are. While some may be dubious of the apparent luck and skill of some of the gunmen such as Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp, many of the gunfights did have real witnesses, rendering them real. The film is extremely accurate, and George P. Cosmatos made sure of it, lining the streets and towns in the movie with dusty, sandy, dirty people, period style horses and carriages and amazing costume design. Even the fast moving gunfight at the O.K. Corral is portrayed almost completely historically. The film afforded only a few occasions when continuity and story progression was deemed more important than historical accuracy. The technical aspects as well, such as the cinematography, hearty gunshots by the sound design crew, and editing make Tombstone a very action packed and fun to watch movie ... The roles were chosen spectacularly well, often times with actors already accustomed to playing western characters (as in the case of Sam Elliott playing Virgil. That being said, the actors also did an outstanding job with their respective roles. Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer each played stellar roles as Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday, respectively. Their acting was not only great, but also fairly historical. Even though each actor was sure to bring his own style to the character he/she was playing, it does not diminish accuracy of the characters, and most likely adds to the enjoyment of the film as a whole as each character had some stellar lines, such as Doc Holliday s, I m your huckleberry and, I ll be a daisy if ya ... • 39. A Woman s Best Quality Eggs A woman is at her most fertile when she is in the ages 20 to 24. Infertility is generally defined as the inability to conceive after one year of unprotected sex. At the age of 30 fertility starts to gradually decline, the chance of successfully conceiving each cycle drops from 22% to just 6 to 8% between 30 and 40 years of age. This big drop in fertility is due to the ageing of a female s eggs. When born women have around a million eggs, by the time they reach their mid thirties this number will have dropped to around 25,000. Unfortunately, a woman s best quality eggs will likely have been used up when younger, meaning the ones left over are of a worse quality and therefore less fertile. Women also release fewer eggs when they get older. In terms of successful IVF treatment (which is more often used by older women), for women under 35 years the success rate is around 27%, but for women over 40 years old that drops to as low as 6%. The graph to the left shows the general trend in the drop in fertility, backing up what was said earlier, and further backed up by Benjamin Younger, the executive director of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. He states that fertility continues to decline after the age of 35 but takes a nosedive at the age of 38. Clearly fertility is something to be worried about, and looking at these stats it is well worth getting pregnant younger in order to have a better chance of getting pregnant and also having good quality eggs still. My interactions with the employees, the management staff, and the promoters helped me to learn about the management and the running of a company. There was never a dull moment as I grasped a lot of knowledge from what they did. My stint in the event management company sowed the seeds of my enthusiasm for organization and management. Thereafter, I was dreaming of running my own company and thoroughly enjoying the work. Although my father s efforts could not convince me to like accounting, it led me to my new found passion. There was some genuine excitement in knowing that the field of accountancy, in a way, was chosen for me, but a career in management would reflect my choice. In the next couple of days, a bone curdling thought that I could have committed a blunder by continuing the Chartered Accountancy profession dawned on me. Music And The Second World War Music and the Second World War Adam Griffin South Piedmont Community College Music Appreciation 110 Mr. Campbell In World War II, jazz absolutely was the music of freedom, and then in the Cold War, behind the Iron Curtain, same thing. It was all underground, but they needed the food of freedom that jazz offered Herbie Hancock. Looking back into history, you could create a timeline of events with nothing but song titles. Music was not just music, it was a lifestyle. Every major event in history has numerous songs that go along with or describe the happening. In the following paragraphs, I will describe aspects and elements of music for pre World War II, World War II, and post World War II. One could say that music was a form of expression throughout the times of war, and the songs produced during this time period clearly express all aspects of life before, during, and after the war. Pre World War II had a huge impact on the course of our nation and our world; not only musically speaking, but also in the terms of historical events. During this time we saw events such as the Wright brother s first flight of an airplane in 1903, Ford Motor Co. introducing its first Model T vehicle in 1908, World War I from 1914 to 1918, the stock market crash in 1929 resulting in the start of the great depression, the beginning of World War II in Europe in 1939, and the end of the great depression in 1940. • 42. Analysis Of Nominative Proxy Signatures By Mambo Et Al [ Abstract: Nominative proxy signatures are a special type of proxy signatures in which the original signer delegates his signing rights to proxy signer and proxy signer on behalf of the original signer generates the signatures intended for nominee in such a way that only the nominee can verify the signatures and if required he is the only one to prove the validity of the signatures to third party. In this paper, we transfer the concept of nominative proxy signatures from elliptical curves to braid groups and so present the maiden nominative proxy signatures based on braid groups. Keywords: nominative proxy signatures, braid group, conjugacy search problem I. INTRODUCTION Ever since the creation of proxy signatures by Mambo et al [ ] in 1996, different variation of proxy signatures like self proxy signatures [], designated verifier proxy [] , and many more have been created by the researchers and one of them is nominative proxy signatures also. These signatures gives signing rights to proxy signer, to sign the message intended for the nominee in a way that nominee is the only person to verify the signature. Nominative proxy signatures are of two types: original nominative proxy signatures where original signer nominates the nominee and proxy nominative proxy signatures where proxy signer can nominate the nominee. Moreover, this signature satisfies all the basic properties of proxy signatures. Highly non abelian groups proposed by Artin [1] called Braid groups are also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By that time, my powdered makeup had turned into beads of liquid. Can we please leave, I yelled we re going to be late! In response to no response, I stood up from my chair and marched into my cousin s room. I was startled as I walked in on one of the most frantic scenes I had ever witnessed. There were clothes sprawled on the floor, makeup powder on the dresser and jewelry on the bed. My cousins and aunts were running around the room; some were getting ready, some were arguing and some were talking on the phone. The mixture of heat and expensive perfume was asphyxiating. We re going to miss the trip tia ! I failed to understand why I was the only person who was ready. We had all been aware of our reservations for the party boat in Old San Juan for almost a week. We re almost ready Val, go start the car. Her response was almost humorous because I knew she was nowhere near being ready. On her head, rested her shower cap and in the closet, hung her dress. Respectfully, I continued to follow her orders and accept our inevitable lateness. I was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico on February,4th, 1999. Since that day, I have come to the conclusion that no one on the island is familiar with the concept of time. Puerto Ricans often jokingly regard reoccurring tardiness as a common quality. • 46. Cosmetic Changes Of Medical Technology Introduction With the development of medical technology, many ambulatories and cosmetic changes can be done by surgical services. This has lead the demand for surgical services to grow rapidly in the past decade. The ambulatory surgery in United States hospitals had increased to 2.9 million procedures, according to the data from American Hospital Association. As medical technology has developed day by day, some hospitals have introduced digital operating room, tele surgery, and robotic assistants. These modern technologies can offer shorter hospital stays, less pain, faster recovery and fewer complications. However, many new technologies come with many requirement checks, safety checks, etc. that cause a delay with the pre surgical check. In general, surgical services cost about 40% of the hospital s overall revenue. However, operating room performance has many issues that cause inefficiencies and delays in the operation. A study shows that if the hospitals can operate one more procedure per day per operation room, it could translate to an additional $4 million to $7 million in annual revenue. Summary A large number of hospitals are having a delay in processing time. They are expecting six sigma to be a useful tool to enhance the quality of operating room process. The project has set several target areas to improve. At age 8, he entered the Collegium Fredericianum, a Latin school, where he remained for 8 1/2 years and studied the classics. He then entered the University of Konigsberg in 1740 to study philosophy, mathematics, and physics. The death of his father halted his university career so he became a private tutor. In 1755, he returned to Konigsburg where he later resumed his studies. In 1756, he received a degree and was made a lecturer, and in 1770 he became a professor. During the Pre critical period, 1747 to 1781, he wrote many non fictional works and criticisms. Some of them were quot;Thoughts on the True Estimation of Living Forces quot;, quot;On Fire quot;, quot;A New Explanation of the First Principles of Metaphysical Knowledge quot;, and quot;On the Forms and Principles of the Sensible and Intelligible World quot;. During this period, he wrote quot; The Critique of Pure Reason quot; in 1781, and quot;Foundation for the Metaphysics of Ethics quot; in 1785. Following the critical works, Kant published quot;Critique of Practical Reason quot;, quot;Critique of Judgment quot;, and quot;Religion within the Limits of Mere Reason quot;. Three main discussions of Kant are Duty, the Formula of the End, and the Kingdom of Ethics. Kant feels that we act morally when we do our duty, however it is important to distinguish between acting according to duty and acting from duty. Grass gets torn up by rough play, bad weather or both and it eventually turns into vast patches of slippery mud (see photos to the right). Synthetic turf, the other hand, remains consistent, making play on it predictable and safer. Synthetic turf also has better shock attenuation than natural grass. This is especially important for impact sports like football, lacrosse and soccer, all of which currently play or seek to play on Memorial Field. In February 2015, Wesleyan University reported that they have seen a significant reduction in reported concussions since installing their synthetic turf field two years ago. Lower maintenance costs.
