This document discusses zoonotic cestode infections, with an emphasis on neurocysticercosis and hydatidosis. It outlines that cestode zoonoses are emerging worldwide and Asia has the greatest burden of cystic echinococcosis and cysticercosis. Neurocysticercosis is caused by the pork tapeworm Taenia solium and is the leading cause of epilepsy in developing countries. Hydatidosis is caused by the larval stage of the dog tapeworm Echinococcus granulosus infecting organs like the liver and lungs. Diagnosis involves ultrasound imaging of cysts with characteristic appearances depending on the WHO classification type.
