Ronald Reag As Government Expands, Liberty Contracts Essay

Ronald Wilson Reagan As government expands, liberty contracts (Ronald Reagan Quotes). Those who
know anything about Modern Politics in the United States know that Ronald Reagan is the poster
child and founder of today s Conservatism. Today s Conservatism is at its core a hybrid between the
Conservatism of Theodore Roosevelt and that of the Libertarianism of Thomas Jefferson. Libertarians
believe that the Central or Federal government should be as small as possible. As shown in the
opening quote from Ronald Reagan he firmly believed that to keep the freedom entitled to us by the
Bill of Rights, the People must constrict government to give them as minimal amount of power as
possible. Ronald Reagan is certainly a controversial figure in the face of politics. Democrats despise
him and Republicans try to mimic his policies on both foreign and domestic stages. Ronald Wilson
Reagan was born on February 6, 1911 in a small town named Tampico, Illinois. Ronald was born in an
apartment on the second floor of a commercial building. His parents were Nelle Clyde Reagan and
Jack Reagan. Nelle was a devoted Christian. A member of the Disciples of Christ denomination of
Christianity. Most of her work mostly was refined to inside the church. Helping with feeding the
homeless or struggling or helping those with Illnesses, but while she wasn t working in the church

Why Polygamy Should Be Legal
Could you imagine living in a world where it is acceptable for a man to marry more than one woman
and be open about it? A large number cannot and the practice of polygamy is seen as a taboo. The
families usually live private lives, and they do not interact with the rest of America due to anti bigamy
society we live in. Polygamy is the practice of being married to more than one person at the same
time. This is not to be confused with an open relationship or an open marriage. This topic was viewed
as controversial for years. As a practice that was not accepted in the public eye, it recently gained
more attention with mainstream media and culture. Shows on television such as Sister Wives may
pose questions if polygamy should be legally practiced, and it should not be. The stronger actions that
law enforcement continues to take against polygamist communities are justified. Women who partake
in the practice often times are not old enough or aware enough to be offered a real choice in the
polygamist marriage. Furthermore, the young women engaging in the practice makes it illegal. They
should be taken out of these environments as well as have the choice to live their lives as they please.
Polygamy can equally be seen as a way of oppressing women. The wives are forced to share their
husband with multiple women, while addressing the husband as their leader . Polygamous unions
nonetheless are still thriving in present day America as of 2015. These communities are allowed to

Why Did Israel Want A King Essay
Why did the people of Israel desire a king? During the time of Samuel the leadership of the judges
was unsuccessful. The people of Israel grew far from God and had to call among the Judges and
Prophets to redeem their people. Hebrews tells us how the people that were called in to redeem the
people of Israel were faulty and flawed. Gideon lacked the courage, Barack was a hesitant leader,
Samson lusted after women, and Ehud was left handed; these are some of the major flaws the leaders
of this age faced. Ed Hindson and Gary Yates explained, Because a judge could only partially and
imperfectly administer Torah (legislative function), execute Justice (executive function), and condemn
law breakers (judicial function), a king was needed who could more effectively fulfill all three roles.
The stories in Judges also, show that not just any king could effectively govern the nation but rather a
king who honored God s covenant (1). It is obvious why the Israelites desired a King, they needed
someone willing to lead their nation and be successful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Israelites wanted to chose their own leader and God let them; God knew it would fail and they
would soon have to depend on who He had for them. The Israelites rushed into choosing Saul as their
king. God even told them that none of the leaders they would pick would work out for them. 1 Samuel
16:7 states, But the Lord said to Samuel, Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have
rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward
appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart (2). Saul was ultimately chosen because he won the victory
over the Ammonites but it was not enough to redeem the people of Israel. Saul looked good on the
outside but just as God said, ... For I have rejected him... Saul was chosen as a rushed decision by the
Israelites but he was rejected because of what was truly in his

When Did The Cold War End Essay
It has been about 26 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall marked, as many believed the end to
Communism, and the Cold War. For years, there was a lot of tension between the United States and
Soviet Union that can be described as a competition between two universalist models: each claimed to
represent the future (Dinning). As most global conflicts involving war go, one always loses. Since the
USSR does not exist any longer, many believe that the United States won this Cold War, but in reality
neither power won, and the USSR became present day Russia. From the time of his presidency,
Ronald Reagan is credited with ending the Cold War, but had nothing to do with the fall of the Berlin
Wall that dissolved Communism in Europe. Since he was president, ... Show more content on

With our current president, nuclear war is as possible as it was in the Cold War. Recently, Hawaii used
Cold War era sirens that would alert for an incoming attack, this is in preparation from possible
defense against North Korea (The Associated Press). Tensions like these today raise the question: Did
the Cold War really end? Rather, did the United States succeed in becoming the superpower it claims
to be? Historians argue that the Cold War did end, but the United States is entering another Cold War
like conflict with North Korea. However, the USSR had a strong influence on the Northern peninsula
of Korea, so they are the main cause of today s conflicts as well. They had a direct influence to what is
occurring today. So, if the Cold War ended, why does the Korean War s effects still resonate on the
relationship with the U.S? Under Trump, many of his actions are reflecting what Reagan would do. In
the 1980 Olympics, the United States boycotted the games being held in Moscow after the USSR

The Roots of Poverty and Globalization
The Question: Globalization and poverty
Once the Era of apartheid had come to an end in 1994 the internationally development community
entered South Africa promoting the microcredit model with high hopes to empower the poorest black
communities to break loose from the poverty spiral, however the Microcredit model was seen to be
having the complete opposite effect, ultimately causing incredible damage to the area. The microcredit
model was supposed to be the means of bringing sustainable development to the extreme poor areas.
The model has been named the anti development intervention (1), because in practice it has only
shown that it supports consumption spending. The poor are worse off than ever before; to keep up
with the obligations of repaying their microloans, they are forced to sell the few assets they own or
borrow money from friends or relatives or even worse take up new microloans in order to pay for the
old ones. This is not the only downfall of this type of so called sustainable development; another
problem that emerges from this is that the actual businesses emerging form microloans are anything
but businesses elevating poverty. The type of business that has been arising from the microloans have
only created hyper competition amongst all the new businesses as well as the old ones, leaving about
40% of the South African population repaying debt. The poorest and most vulnerable are left behind to
take care of themselves drowning in debt, while the private banks

My Heritage Essay
It s crazy to think that the way you were raised is what has made you become the person you are
today. Everyone has their own story about how they were raised, where they were raised, and who
they were raised with. Each person has their own type of heritage with how they are raised based upon
their family, where they were raised, religion, family traditions, values, and beliefs. The way you were
raised in life has influenced your personality. The way you act and the way you are viewed as are both
influenced by your family s heritage.
I come from a four person family. My mom and dad have always been in my life therefore they are the
people who raised me. After seeing my parents have a successful marriage, it has influenced me to
want the same thing in life and having my first marriage be my last. I have an older sister who is 23.
While growing up, me and my sister had a very close relationship. As we grew up, we started to drift
apart. I learned a lot from being the youngest child. While being 3 years younger than my sister
Taylor, watching her grow up and deal with situations taught me many personal life lessons. Watching
her grow up taught me the good and bad things in life and helped me follow the right path. While
going through school, I already knew what to expect when it came to the class description and the
teacher just by having my sister go through it just a couple years before me. Even though being the
younger sister, my whole life is all I know, I couldn t imagine

The internet became critical in our daily life . A lot of people try to ignore that internet have

of using the Internet in the wrong way . First , is being an addicted to it and that because most of

Harm Of Technology
Twenty first century technology has transformed society and the way individuals live. Many people
are so concerned with their lives on the web that they fail to see that it is another way to be used as a
control over people. The internet is being used as a way to separate and regulate what people can or
cannot see. In Fences of Enclosure, Windows of Possibility Naomi Klein, explains how there are
fences around public resources, and turning them into privatization. Making it hard for low income
families to afford them. In Democracy in Cyberspace: What Technology Can and Cannot Do for Us

Government officials are interested in making a large profit, placing fences around resources. For
instance, the government changing up the policy for money There is a real if invisible fence that goes
up around clean water in Soweto when prices skyrocket owing to privatization, and residents are
forced to turn to contaminated sources. (Klein196) The government officials seem to have lost their
way. The reason for doing politics is to make a change and make the lives of others something great.
Now it is just who can pay out the most money. Turning good and clean public resources into a
business is forcing others into doing some horrendous things. Forcing the people that can barely afford
a decent pair of shoes to pay for something that they have a right to. It is a wonder that people are so
atrocious that they are willing to have other human beings drink water that can cause damage to major
organs. Not only can politicians place borders around natural resources, but they can also place it on
the internet. A Chinese web user isn t sure if what they read is the truth or if it is someone working to

that it pays for each blog entry or message board post promoting the Chinese Communist Party s line

Carolina Panthers Contract Analysis
The Carolina Panthers are set to offer 2012 ninth overall pick middle linebacker Luke Kuechly a
contract extension this year, according to ESPN. Kuechly is currently entering the final year of his
four year, $12.5 million rookie deal with the Panthers, which would earn him $2.1 million next
season. Carolina is exercising a fifth year option in the 24 year old s contract, but the team is said to be
looking to give him a long term deal before the new season starts in September. The 6 foot 3, 235
pound defender is considered by NFL analysts as one of the best inside linebackers in the league right
now. His statistics have so far been nothing but impressive for head coach Ron Rivera s squad. The
former Boston College standout led the NFL in tackles during two of his three season with the team
thus far, during his 2012 rookie year with 164 and last season with 153. He had been a two time Pro
Bowler was the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2012, NFC Defensive Player of the Year in
2013, and AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. He was also named as a first team All Pro in

by the recent six year, $101 million mega deal received by outside linebacker Justin Houston from the

Houston s compensation, an average of $16.8 million per year, is reportedly the richest contract for a
linebacker in league

The Importance Of The Right To Privacy
Property is paramount regarding the individual rights of citizens. United States Founders considered it
as the foundation of freedom and prosperity. In fact, James Madison stated government is instituted to
protect property of every sort...This being the end of government, that alone is just government, which
impartially secures to every man, whatever is his own. Originally, the right for citizens to freely
acquire, use, and dispose of property was protected by common law, state law and the constitution.
However, as the nation grew and this concept became more complex, property rights have been
severely compromised. For instance, there is much disagreement on what the right to privacy concept
within the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution actually protects.
Originally, the Court tended to view the right to privacy as place orientated and property based (739).
This narrow range of protections was understandable but was limited primarily to criminal procedure,
specifically the protections against search and seizures. For example, the courts repeatedly use the
proverb A man s home is his castle , however, this concept is explicitly place orientated and property
based. The issue with this narrow view of property is that it fails to protect property that is non
physical, such as an original concept, copyright material, music and other entities that were not
necessarily factors in the 18th century. Rossum acknowledges this issue stating, Anything less than

Analysis Of The Film Portrait Of Disability
Portrait of Disability in the Film Industry
Perceptions and stereotypes of people with disabilities have tended to remain the same over the past
year, despite the continual progressing technology and legal rights. People with physical and mental
disabilities are stigmatized because their bodies and minds do not reflect the norm. Different
organizations and scholars have argued that the film industry in most of the cases has unjustly
represented disabled people. Using the method of observation to analyze A Beautiful Mind (2001),
Silver Linings Playbook (2012), The Intouchables (2012), and Me Before You (2016) one can point
out those moments where these movies break or perpetuate the major stereotypes and myths about
disability. Film ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On Native American Boarding School
Indians were mean people I m glad I m not an Indian, I thought. These are the thoughts of Merta
Bercier, she was a young Indian at a boarding school. Native Americans were relentlessly forced to
change through education, so that they may fit into the new culture, and so that they may also become
citizens. Likewise, they had no choice when it came to assimilation, there was no running away. In
fact, they weren t even allowed to speak their native language. The girls at St. Lucy s and the Native
Americans both experienced merciless forced assimilation evidenced by the girls and Native
Americans both had to be reeducated to conform, the girls could run away if they wanted whereas the
Native Americans could not, and they both had to learn a new language. Native Americans were

and they would be whipped (Marr). In short, there was little chance of escape and even slimmer
chances of remaining free of boarding schools if they were to

there is an extensive contention encompassing Jack Welch. Jack Welch sorts out his representatives in

Hashimoto s Disease Case Study
Hashimoto s disease also known as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease that
causes hypothyroidism. An autoimmune disease is a disease that stems from an irregular response
from the immune system to attack the patient s own cells specifically those in the thyroid gland. In
Hashimoto s disease the antibodies actually attack and destroy cells of the thyroid gland. This
destruction leads to a drop in the production of the triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). When the
body detects the decreased production of T3 and T4 it begins to try to correct the imbalance and
creates an increased production of thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) from the hypothalamus

The Effect of Temperature on the Rate of Reaction Essay
The effect of temperature on rates of reaction
Aim:
The aim of this experiment is to find out if the reaction rate of sodium thiosulphate solution and
hydrochloric acid will be affected by a temperature change.
Prediction:
I predict that as a result of increasing the temperature of the sodium thiosulphate, the rate of reaction
will be faster. Because of the increase in temperature, the particles will gain more kinetic energy.
This will therefore cause them to move faster and produce more successful collisions, causing the rate
to increase.

For the experiment I will use:
* Sodium Thiosulphate solution
* Hydrochloric acid
* Water
* A test tube
* A beaker
* A hot plate
* A thermometer
* A stopwatch
* A glass bottle
* Ice
Preliminary work:
From my preliminary results graph, I could determine how I needed to change the scale and
concentration of my experiment. Using 10cm of sodium thiosulphate, I quickly discovered that at 45 C
the reaction was too fast to measure and so for my scale to reach above that, I needed to dilute the
sodium thoisulphate. When I accordingly changed the concentration to 5cm distilled water and 5cm
sodium thoisulphate. I noticed that I would be able to conduct the experiment until 50 C because at 55
C it was only just measurable and this may be a source of error if I wasn t able to record the results in
time.
After analysing the data from my preliminary work, I decided to add in an extra temperature of below
room temperature at 10 C which would produce a more in depth experiment. I also cut out some
temperatures where the time taken for the black cross to be obscured was similar to other
temperatures. For example 35 C where there

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Foreign Direct Investment...
Foreign direct investment FDI is an investment of a company from one country to another whereby
assets are acquired, operations are set up and joint ventures with local firms are made (Financial Times
, n.d.). FDI is a risky and more expensive method of venturing globally as compared to licensing and
exporting, however it does not stop companies from doing so due to its many advantages. FDI is one
of the key drivers in speeding up the development and economic growth in Malaysia. Sound
macroeconomic management, presence of a well functioning financial system and sustained economic
growth has made Malaysia an attractive country for FDI. Moreover, FDI plays a crucial role in

My Mother As An Immigrant
People in need don t need our petty. Feeling the petty for the poor will neither end their suffering nor
help them. There are many ways for helping and supporting them. My mother is one of the most
known charity program holders in our country.
Her love and passionate for helping people started sense she was very young.
When she was at the age of eight, she went shopping with her father to buy some house supplies. It
took them three and a half hours to finish shopping. Once they have finished and went out of the store,
my grandfather called my mother s name and said rasha, stand here and don t move, I forgot the
receipt . So she stood there waiting for my grandfather to come back so they can leave. The place was
so crowded and full of people. My mother was looking around and found a very old lady that was
walking around with no shoes. She walked all the way to her and asked her why isn t she wearing a
pair of shoes. The old poor lady told her that she couldn t afford to buy one. So the petty my mother
felt for this poor lady made her give all the house supplies that she just shopped for with her father.

How Did Emily Dickinson Influence Her Work
Emily Dickinson is currently considered one of the most famous American authors, despite the fact
that her work was not well known in her own day. Emily was notable to American Literature, and she
sealed the road for several of today s poets. She was a creative poet, determined writer, and an
extreme introvert who never gave up. Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 and passed
away at age 55 on May 15, 1886. ( Emily Famous). Having grown up in poverty, it influenced her
poems greatly. Emily Dickinson s father, Edward Dickinson, was a lawyer, a member of Congress,
and the treasurer of Amherst College ( Emily Encyclopedia). Dickinson s mother, Emily Norcross

It is very popular because she uses this metaphor through a bird, showing that even in the hard times
we should still have hope ( Emily Study). Theres many reasons why this poem is so popular, one
being the way she puts commas around the word hope (O Connor). Hope is the Thing with Feathers is
also a very positive poem, and many people feel as if it speaks right to the heart (O Connor). There is
a lot of reviews saying that it just has a pleasant type of message (O Connor). Many people also find it
a very good description of hope, and many people love it because they feel as if they can relate to it (O
Connor). This poem was published in 1891 in the 2nd collection of Dickinson s work, Poems by
Emily Dickinson, second series ( Hope Encyclopedia). My opinion of Hope is the Thing with Feathers
would have to be that she was very clear with her message. Not only do I feel that I can relate to it, I
feel as if many other people can relate to it. That poems main point is about hope and how you should
believe in it whenever things are not looking up for you, and I think that is very true. Many times
people get discouraged and think that there is nothing left but there is, and it is hope. I highly agree
with Dickinson in her poem Hope is the Thing with Feathers . Other people who have written reviews
on the poem say that it gives them chills, and that they adored this poem

Project At Tulsa County Youth Services
I acquired my service learning hours by participating in a group that volunteered at Tulsa County
Youth Services. My group encountered many difficulties and challenges before finally securing a
project at Tulsa County Youth Services that would allow for us to fulfill our eight hour requirement for
the service learning project. Initially, we had planned to volunteer at Rogers County Youth Services,
but these plans dissipated as we learned that it was extremely difficult to simply set up a meeting
between our group and their organization s director. Luckily, I came across group volunteer
opportunities at Tulsa County Youth Services while contemplating how we would be able to fulfill our
community service hours with the difficulties that were then experiencing with Rogers County Youth
Services. Looking back, I think it was easier to set up a group project with Tulsa County Youth
Services because they are a much larger scale organization when being compared to Rogers County
Youth Services. Tulsa County Youth Service s communications coordinator was easily able to set our
group up with date, time, and project that would fulfill the requirements for the group project.
Collectively speaking, our entire group felt privileged to share this experience at Tulsa County Youth
Services and we all were very impressed by the tremendous amount of services that were offered by
Tulsa County Youth Services. Our group decided to complete our volunteer service with Tulsa County

Social Identity And Social Behavior Analysis
Ever since the beginning of this exercise, I have been curious as to if there were any patterns within
individual characteristics that change the likelihood of someone being prosocial or proself. All three
articles deal with understanding the differences between prosocials and proselfs. The article written in
2001 establishes a difference in prosocials and proselfs. This research shows that prosocials, as
compared to proselfs, will simultaneously pursue the following goals in interdependence situations:
(1) maximize own outcomes, (2) maximize joint outcomes, and (3) achieving equality in outcomes
(De Cremer Van Lange 2001: S15). The 2008 article deals with the different behaviors associated with
egotists and altruists. Building off the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A self concept or self schema, the mental image or perception that one has of oneself, is made up of
three types of identities, role identities, person identities, and social identities. Role identity refers to
the roles we occupy, such as sister, friend, lawyer, etc. These can influence our behavior by
establishing roles, therefore rules as to what type of behavior is expected from us in certain situations.
This could be demonstrated as it relates to gender. We might notice more women behaving prosocially
because they are mothers and sisters, who are typically expected to be more caring, and so to fulfill
their role as mother or sister they will behave as a prosocial more often. A person identity is a
characteristic that effects the way an individual acts. These are typically characteristics such as funny,
kind, or nurtuting. Someone who holds any kind of characteristic that relates to helping will be more
likely to display prosocial tendencies. Finally, social identities are characteristics about ourselves that
we use to associate with classifications. This could be race, gender, or even religion. We can expect
that someone who holds a social identity that they are religious would feel more inclined to behave
prosocially because they feel as if they need to prove their religious identity. Overall, social identity

The Theory Of Moral Reasoning
he tension between reason and emotion in the human psyche has intrigued philosophers and
psychologists for centuries. Under this theme, moral psychologists have investigated the roles of
reason and emotion in making moral judgements, which, in the context of moral dilemmas, involves
evaluating the acceptability of an action, given the virtues held by a specific culture (Haidt, 2001).
Moral reasoning involves the conscious, effortful, and controllable mental manipulation of
information, while moral emotions involve spontaneous, affectively charged judgements that lack
conscious reasoning (Haidt, 2001). While earlier rationalist approaches argued that moral reasoning
formed the basis of our moral judgements (Kohlberg, 1981), more recent approaches, such as Haidt s
(2001) Social Intuitionist Model, emphasise the role of affective processes, arguing that reasoned
judgements are rare, and that most examples of reasoning are simply post hoc rationalisations of
emotionally grounded judgements. The dual process model (DPM) (Greene, Nystrom, Engell, Darley,
Cohen, 2004) consolidates these two approaches, proposing that reason and emotion are distinct and
equally important processes, which are elicited to different extents by particular features of moral
situations, competing to form the final moral judgement. Under this model, Greene et al. (2004) made
a key distinction between personal and impersonal moral dilemmas. In the Trolley Dilemma, a
runaway trolley will kill five men

West Virginia taxpayers deserve a tax cut so that they can keep more of their hard earned money, he

Rep. Evan Jenkins, R W.Va., said the plan will allow West Virginia businesses to grow and its
employees to also benefit.
Many West Virginians are struggling after our state s economic downturn, and they deserve to keep

The Joint Committee on Taxation reported under the bill, the federal deficit would increase by more

The possible rise of the deficit is one issue Sen. Joe Manchin, D W.Va., has with the bill, noting how
the bill also put investors over workers.
None the less, I believe tax reform is something we must do, so in the coming days, I will do what
West Virginians do best, he said, bring people together and find common ground so that we can get
something done.
Marr said while the tax rate for high income earners will remain at 39.6 percent, they will ultimately

Question: How does Kiowa s death change some of the characters in the three chapters Speaking of

Hypothesis: Speaking of Courage gives Bowkers view of Kiowa s death, Notes gives O brien s view,
and In The Field offers the perspective of Kiowa s death from Azar, Bowker, Cross, and an un named

Bowker is unable to erase the memory and asks O brien to write his story. Notes tells O brien s view
on Bowker enhanced by the fact that Norman Bowker ended up killing himself ten years after the war.
By working on his story and perfecting it in order to make it carry his feelings about Vietnam and
Bowker and Kiowa, O Brien makes peace with his memories of them. He writes in order to remember
in a way that is not painful. Therefore, he originally leaves Kiowa s death out of Speaking of Courage,
he ends up putting it back in because he realizes it is an essential part of understanding Bowker s
despair of Kiowa s death and realizes that it was a hard subject for him as well afterall. Norman is

A Brief Note On Electro Encephalography ( Eeg )
Electro encephalography : Electro Encephalography (EEG) is primarily an electrophysiological
monitoring method, recording the electrical activity of the brain. It involves placing electrodes along
the scalp, which measure voltage fluctuations resulting from the ionic flux across the brain neurons.
These are recorded graphically and typically referred to as brain waves . Prior to the advent of
Computed Tomography (CTScan) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), EEG monitoring was the
primary diagnostic tool for stroke, epilepsy and other focal brain disorders. EEG monitoring in the
settings of cardiac surgery can be initiated before induction by anesthesia and continues in the post
operative phase , in the intensive care unit (ICU). EEG monitoring is useful to detect seizures . The
most common neurological symptoms manifest in the neonatal cardiac surgical intensive care unit
include Non convulsive seizures and Status Epilepticus; the primary cause being Hypoxic Ischemic
Encephalopathy(HIC). Studies reveal that the incidents of HIC increase in the presence of adverse
events like cardiac arrest and also in the use of Mechanical Circulatory Support, ECMO,etc. EEG can
be influenced by the use of hypothermia and anesthetic agents. Use of deep hypothermia leads to
isoelectricity, a marker of reduction in cerebral metabolism. The threshold for isoelectricty can be a
useful indication for adequacy of

Radium Corporation opened their first factory in Orange, NJ and began making glow in the dark
wristwatches in 1917 in response to a growing military demand for a time piece that could be read in
the absence of light and the harshest of conditions. This glowing substance was developed by German
scientists and was the result of chemical interactions between radium salts and a zinc compound.
Blum recorded that when the radium salts were mixed with the zinc compound, the particles emitted
by the radium caused the zinc atoms to vibrate. This vibration created a buzz of energy, visible as a
faint shiver of light.3 (p180) After WWI ended, glowing dial faces were all the trend. The U.S.
Radium Corporation hired young women to do the work of painting the delicate numerals on the faces

Howard Hughes and the Flight of the Spruce Goose

character. Hughes was an American entrepreneur who became one of the most wealthiest people
during the 1930 s and 1940 s. Howard Hughes was one of the most famous aviators of all time with
the production of his world wide known plane called the Spruce Goose . (Howard Robard Hughes)
Howard Hughes was born in Humble, Texas on December 24, 1905. Hughes was very creative and
ingenious, but an individualistic and private person. As a kid, he spent his time drawing automobiles,
trains, planes, and boats. His father, Howard Senior, invented a new type of drill bit for the booming
oil industry. The Sharp and Hughes Company was created, and quickly expanded in Texas, California,
and other states. His mother, Allene, isolated Hughes from the real world with her relentless fears of
germs, disease, and death. At the age of fourteen, Hughes was deeply interested in mechanics and
engines. He inherited the love of creating technical solutions from his father. As a way to resist his
mother to refuse to buy him a motorcycle, he turned his bicycle into a motorized bike. Howard
Hughes showed that he disliked school but loved tinkering with any kind of machine. One day, his
father took him on an airplane flight. It was one of the most important events in Howard s life. He was

group and 158 offenders were part of the nonparticipation group. The participants were monitor to see
if they would get convicted of other charges after initially being released. While the article was overall
well done, there are some aspects that could be changed and/or interpreted more. There are various
sections within the article that help to further explain the steps of the study. For instance, the abstract

beginning of the article explains the a brief history of the problem being studied and how more studies
need to be conducted on the topic of recidivism among released prisoners. For examples, the literature

ability to understand yourself, or even your ability to interact with other people. Under Gardner s
Theory of multiple intelligences each and every one of us have different intelligence strengths, our
individual strengths are important in how we develop. Possibly making more unconventional
geniuses. Knowing and acknowledging our strengths can help us to excel in life at different levels.
Most of us are a combination of many different intelligences. Normally with one or two that are
stronger than the others. Like many others you might be thinking intelligence only in reference to a
high IQ, and knowledge these other so called intelligences are too broad, but I believe you couldn t be
more incorrect. These are possible new ideas for you but consider the fact that we all learn differently
if we all had the same type of intelligence than we would all learn the exact same way. As we know
this clearly not true. After deep reflection and some research I believe my strongest intelligence is
Interpersonal intelligence. Strong interpersonal intelligence are people who are good at understanding
and interacting with others nonverbally and verbally. Usually more talented in assessing the emotions
and desires of those around them. My second strongest intelligence is intrapersonal intelligences
describe as one s ability to know and understand them self. It is believed that these

Princess Edlyn Quotes
This quote talks about Princess Edlyn and her struggle that she has with her parents. Since Edlyn was
born first she is the first in line for the throne. When she becomes queen she will make history as
being the first queen of Illea. Before she was born there used to be a caste system where you were
born you were given a certain occupation and everyone born after that had to follow in the same
footsteps. The people of Illea could only work certain jobs or marry certain people according to
whatever rank they were even. Edlyns father was born a 1 since he was royal and the system goes
down to 8. Since Edlyn s father Maxon became king he removed the caste system and all of the people
seem to be happy about this choice. 20 years late though, certain

The Pale Blue Dot, By Joel Achenbach
People often think about how vast, or how important the Earth is, it is the domain of the human race.
Where they strive to be the best, compete against others, world powers against another. But, in the vast
reality of the cosmos, the Earth, is nothing more than a tiny little pale blue dot. Described none other
than Carl Sagan, The Pale Blue Dot, reveals the scary reality about the placement of the human race in
the enveloping cosmic dark. In his quote, Sagan uses pathos and logos about this reality, opening a
deeper understanding that beyond the planet Earth, humans are nothing more than insignificant. He
has revolutionized the way that people view our home, and the cosmos around it. Joel Achenbach
starts his Smithsonian article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also took advantage of the gravitational pull of these reducing the time and fuel to travel through
the solar system, it was like a sling shot effect. The Voyager satellites were launched in 1977, Voyager
I mission was to study Jupiter and Saturn, and Voyager II, Uranus and Neptune. The mission brought
back stunning evidence that the people behind the mission didn t anticipate for. Io, for example, was
the discovered to have massive geological activity (the only other orbiting object besides Earth). The
Voyager s recorded nine eruptions during their brief orbit (NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, News
and Archives). In Carl Sagan s show, Cosmos, he mentions that Voyager captured lightning on the
dark side of Jupiter (Sagan Ep. 1). This is just one example of many scientific break throughs that the
Voyagers have documented. Even up to 2012, mission control is still receiving signals from the
Voyager satellites, as of August 25th, 2012, Voyager I surpassed the heliopause of the solar system
(NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, News and Archives). Once the Voyagers completed their primary
mission of encountering the outer gas giants, as Voyager I was heading toward the outer reaches of the
solar system, Sagan was among those who persuaded NASA to aim the spacecraft s camera back
toward Earth, by then billions of miles away.

Use Of Irony In Don Quixote
Miguel de Cervantes novel, Don Quixote, is a touchstone for criticism on narrative fiction that
reorients criticism towards an emphasis on the formal over the thematic and the playful over the
solemn. A majority of the irony shown throughout this work is portrayed through one of the main
characters, Don Quixote, whom is an old gentleman that attempts to put his fantasy ideas into action in
a prosy world that makes even the meanest intelligence crack a smile. But, as the reader further
analyzes the meaning of the text, it makes he or she question his or her own frivolity. The reader
begins to sympathize with Don Quixote because insanity prevents him from seeing his reality as fake
and inappropriate opposed to actual social needs. Irony in Don ... Show more content on

This viewpoint depends on whether the reader is willing to take the good or bad side of Don Quixote s
crazy; it depends on whether the reader considers that Don Quixote has the correct moral values with
madness. An example of the theme of honor that can be portrayed in an ironic way is when the
narrator talks about Don Quixote fighting the windmills, saying, So saying, and commending himself
with all his heart to his lady Dulcinea, imploring her to support him in such a peril, with lance in rest
and covered by his buckler, he charged at Rocinante s fullest gallop and fell upon the first mill that
stood in front of him, (I.VIII). This passage portrays Don Quixote s valiance and determination
towards Dulcinea as honorable because he charges at the windmills with all of his might, but this
passage is also ironic because he is investing all of his honorable valiance and determination on fake
giants that are actually windmills. He contains a vast majority of the valiance it takes to become a
knight, but he is applying all of his energy in the wrong

  • 2. Ronald Reag As Government Expands, Liberty Contracts Essay Ethan Martin Martin 1 Mrs. Langerot English 4 October 14, 2015 Ronald Wilson Reagan As government expands, liberty contracts (Ronald Reagan Quotes). Those who know anything about Modern Politics in the United States know that Ronald Reagan is the poster child and founder of today s Conservatism. Today s Conservatism is at its core a hybrid between the Conservatism of Theodore Roosevelt and that of the Libertarianism of Thomas Jefferson. Libertarians believe that the Central or Federal government should be as small as possible. As shown in the opening quote from Ronald Reagan he firmly believed that to keep the freedom entitled to us by the Bill of Rights, the People must constrict government to give them as minimal amount of power as possible. Ronald Reagan is certainly a controversial figure in the face of politics. Democrats despise him and Republicans try to mimic his policies on both foreign and domestic stages. Ronald Wilson Reagan was born on February 6, 1911 in a small town named Tampico, Illinois. Ronald was born in an apartment on the second floor of a commercial building. His parents were Nelle Clyde Reagan and Jack Reagan. Nelle was a devoted Christian. A member of the Disciples of Christ denomination of Christianity. • 3. Why Polygamy Should Be Legal Could you imagine living in a world where it is acceptable for a man to marry more than one woman and be open about it? A large number cannot and the practice of polygamy is seen as a taboo. The families usually live private lives, and they do not interact with the rest of America due to anti bigamy society we live in. Polygamy is the practice of being married to more than one person at the same time. This is not to be confused with an open relationship or an open marriage. This topic was viewed as controversial for years. As a practice that was not accepted in the public eye, it recently gained more attention with mainstream media and culture. Shows on television such as Sister Wives may pose questions if polygamy should be legally practiced, and it should not be. The stronger actions that law enforcement continues to take against polygamist communities are justified. Women who partake in the practice often times are not old enough or aware enough to be offered a real choice in the polygamist marriage. Furthermore, the young women engaging in the practice makes it illegal. They should be taken out of these environments as well as have the choice to live their lives as they please. Polygamy can equally be seen as a way of oppressing women. The wives are forced to share their husband with multiple women, while addressing the husband as their leader . Polygamous unions nonetheless are still thriving in present day America as of 2015. These communities are allowed to live ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Why Did Israel Want A King Essay Why did the people of Israel desire a king? During the time of Samuel the leadership of the judges was unsuccessful. The people of Israel grew far from God and had to call among the Judges and Prophets to redeem their people. Hebrews tells us how the people that were called in to redeem the people of Israel were faulty and flawed. Gideon lacked the courage, Barack was a hesitant leader, Samson lusted after women, and Ehud was left handed; these are some of the major flaws the leaders of this age faced. Ed Hindson and Gary Yates explained, Because a judge could only partially and imperfectly administer Torah (legislative function), execute Justice (executive function), and condemn law breakers (judicial function), a king was needed who could more effectively fulfill all three roles. The stories in Judges also, show that not just any king could effectively govern the nation but rather a king who honored God s covenant (1). • 5. When Did The Cold War End Essay It has been about 26 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall marked, as many believed the end to Communism, and the Cold War. For years, there was a lot of tension between the United States and Soviet Union that can be described as a competition between two universalist models: each claimed to represent the future (Dinning). As most global conflicts involving war go, one always loses. Since the USSR does not exist any longer, many believe that the United States won this Cold War, but in reality neither power won, and the USSR became present day Russia. From the time of his presidency, Ronald Reagan is credited with ending the Cold War, but had nothing to do with the fall of the Berlin Wall that dissolved Communism in Europe. Recently, Hawaii used Cold War era sirens that would alert for an incoming attack, this is in preparation from possible defense against North Korea (The Associated Press). Tensions like these today raise the question: Did the Cold War really end? Rather, did the United States succeed in becoming the superpower it claims to be? Historians argue that the Cold War did end, but the United States is entering another Cold War like conflict with North Korea. However, the USSR had a strong influence on the Northern peninsula of Korea, so they are the main cause of today s conflicts as well. They had a direct influence to what is occurring today. So, if the Cold War ended, why does the Korean War s effects still resonate on the relationship with the U.S? Under Trump, many of his actions are reflecting what Reagan would do. • 6. The Roots of Poverty and Globalization The Question: Globalization and poverty Once the Era of apartheid had come to an end in 1994 the internationally development community entered South Africa promoting the microcredit model with high hopes to empower the poorest black communities to break loose from the poverty spiral, however the Microcredit model was seen to be having the complete opposite effect, ultimately causing incredible damage to the area. The microcredit model was supposed to be the means of bringing sustainable development to the extreme poor areas. The model has been named the anti development intervention (1), because in practice it has only shown that it supports consumption spending. The poor are worse off than ever before; to keep up with the obligations of repaying their microloans, they are forced to sell the few assets they own or borrow money from friends or relatives or even worse take up new microloans in order to pay for the old ones. This is not the only downfall of this type of so called sustainable development; another problem that emerges from this is that the actual businesses emerging form microloans are anything but businesses elevating poverty. The type of business that has been arising from the microloans have only created hyper competition amongst all the new businesses as well as the old ones, leaving about 40% of the South African population repaying debt. The poorest and most vulnerable are left behind to take care of themselves drowning in debt, while the private banks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everyone has their own story about how they were raised, where they were raised, and who they were raised with. Each person has their own type of heritage with how they are raised based upon their family, where they were raised, religion, family traditions, values, and beliefs. The way you were raised in life has influenced your personality. The way you act and the way you are viewed as are both influenced by your family s heritage. I come from a four person family. My mom and dad have always been in my life therefore they are the people who raised me. After seeing my parents have a successful marriage, it has influenced me to want the same thing in life and having my first marriage be my last. I have an older sister who is 23. While growing up, me and my sister had a very close relationship. As we grew up, we started to drift apart. I learned a lot from being the youngest child. While being 3 years younger than my sister Taylor, watching her grow up and deal with situations taught me many personal life lessons. Watching her grow up taught me the good and bad things in life and helped me follow the right path. In fact, James Madison stated government is instituted to protect property of every sort...This being the end of government, that alone is just government, which impartially secures to every man, whatever is his own. Originally, the right for citizens to freely acquire, use, and dispose of property was protected by common law, state law and the constitution. However, as the nation grew and this concept became more complex, property rights have been severely compromised. For instance, there is much disagreement on what the right to privacy concept within the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution actually protects. Originally, the Court tended to view the right to privacy as place orientated and property based (739). This narrow range of protections was understandable but was limited primarily to criminal procedure, specifically the protections against search and seizures. For example, the courts repeatedly use the proverb A man s home is his castle , however, this concept is explicitly place orientated and property based. The issue with this narrow view of property is that it fails to protect property that is non physical, such as an original concept, copyright material, music and other entities that were not necessarily factors in the 18th century. When I accordingly changed the concentration to 5cm distilled water and 5cm sodium thoisulphate. I noticed that I would be able to conduct the experiment until 50 C because at 55 C it was only just measurable and this may be a source of error if I wasn t able to record the results in time. After analysing the data from my preliminary work, I decided to add in an extra temperature of below room temperature at 10 C which would produce a more in depth experiment. I also cut out some temperatures where the time taken for the black cross to be obscured was similar to other temperatures. For example 35 C where there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a lot of reviews saying that it just has a pleasant type of message (O Connor). This poem was published in 1891 in the 2nd collection of Dickinson s work, Poems by Emily Dickinson, second series ( Hope Encyclopedia). My opinion of Hope is the Thing with Feathers would have to be that she was very clear with her message. Not only do I feel that I can relate to it, I feel as if many other people can relate to it. That poems main point is about hope and how you should believe in it whenever things are not looking up for you, and I think that is very true. Initially, we had planned to volunteer at Rogers County Youth Services, but these plans dissipated as we learned that it was extremely difficult to simply set up a meeting between our group and their organization s director. A self concept or self schema, the mental image or perception that one has of oneself, is made up of three types of identities, role identities, person identities, and social identities. Role identity refers to the roles we occupy, such as sister, friend, lawyer, etc. These can influence our behavior by establishing roles, therefore rules as to what type of behavior is expected from us in certain situations. This could be demonstrated as it relates to gender. We might notice more women behaving prosocially because they are mothers and sisters, who are typically expected to be more caring, and so to fulfill their role as mother or sister they will behave as a prosocial more often. A person identity is a characteristic that effects the way an individual acts. These are typically characteristics such as funny, kind, or nurtuting. Someone who holds any kind of characteristic that relates to helping will be more likely to display prosocial tendencies. Finally, social identities are characteristics about ourselves that we use to associate with classifications. This could be race, gender, or even religion. • 32. The Theory Of Moral Reasoning he tension between reason and emotion in the human psyche has intrigued philosophers and psychologists for centuries. Under this theme, moral psychologists have investigated the roles of reason and emotion in making moral judgements, which, in the context of moral dilemmas, involves evaluating the acceptability of an action, given the virtues held by a specific culture (Haidt, 2001). Moral reasoning involves the conscious, effortful, and controllable mental manipulation of information, while moral emotions involve spontaneous, affectively charged judgements that lack conscious reasoning (Haidt, 2001). While earlier rationalist approaches argued that moral reasoning formed the basis of our moral judgements (Kohlberg, 1981), more recent approaches, such as Haidt s (2001) Social Intuitionist Model, emphasise the role of affective processes, arguing that reasoned judgements are rare, and that most examples of reasoning are simply post hoc rationalisations of emotionally grounded judgements. The dual process model (DPM) (Greene, Nystrom, Engell, Darley, Cohen, 2004) consolidates these two approaches, proposing that reason and emotion are distinct and equally important processes, which are elicited to different extents by particular features of moral situations, competing to form the final moral judgement. Under this model, Greene et al. (2004) made a key distinction between personal and impersonal moral dilemmas. In the Trolley Dilemma, a runaway trolley will kill five men ... • 36. A Brief Note On Electro Encephalography ( Eeg ) Electro encephalography : Electro Encephalography (EEG) is primarily an electrophysiological monitoring method, recording the electrical activity of the brain. It involves placing electrodes along the scalp, which measure voltage fluctuations resulting from the ionic flux across the brain neurons. These are recorded graphically and typically referred to as brain waves . Prior to the advent of Computed Tomography (CTScan) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), EEG monitoring was the primary diagnostic tool for stroke, epilepsy and other focal brain disorders. EEG monitoring in the settings of cardiac surgery can be initiated before induction by anesthesia and continues in the post operative phase , in the intensive care unit (ICU). EEG monitoring is useful to detect seizures . The most common neurological symptoms manifest in the neonatal cardiac surgical intensive care unit include Non convulsive seizures and Status Epilepticus; the primary cause being Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy(HIC). Studies reveal that the incidents of HIC increase in the presence of adverse events like cardiac arrest and also in the use of Mechanical Circulatory Support, ECMO,etc. EEG can be influenced by the use of hypothermia and anesthetic agents. Use of deep hypothermia leads to isoelectricity, a marker of reduction in cerebral metabolism. The threshold for isoelectricty can be a useful indication for adequacy of ... Before she was born there used to be a caste system where you were born you were given a certain occupation and everyone born after that had to follow in the same footsteps. The people of Illea could only work certain jobs or marry certain people according to whatever rank they were even. Edlyns father was born a 1 since he was royal and the system goes down to 8. Since Edlyn s father Maxon became king he removed the caste system and all of the people seem to be happy about this choice. 20 years late though, certain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Pale Blue Dot, By Joel Achenbach People often think about how vast, or how important the Earth is, it is the domain of the human race. Where they strive to be the best, compete against others, world powers against another. But, in the vast reality of the cosmos, the Earth, is nothing more than a tiny little pale blue dot. Described none other than Carl Sagan, The Pale Blue Dot, reveals the scary reality about the placement of the human race in the enveloping cosmic dark. In his quote, Sagan uses pathos and logos about this reality, opening a deeper understanding that beyond the planet Earth, humans are nothing more than insignificant. He has revolutionized the way that people view our home, and the cosmos around it. Joel Achenbach starts his Smithsonian article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also took advantage of the gravitational pull of these reducing the time and fuel to travel through the solar system, it was like a sling shot effect. The Voyager satellites were launched in 1977, Voyager I mission was to study Jupiter and Saturn, and Voyager II, Uranus and Neptune. The mission brought back stunning evidence that the people behind the mission didn t anticipate for. Io, for example, was the discovered to have massive geological activity (the only other orbiting object besides Earth). The Voyager s recorded nine eruptions during their brief orbit (NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, News and Archives). In Carl Sagan s show, Cosmos, he mentions that Voyager captured lightning on the dark side of Jupiter (Sagan Ep. 1). This is just one example of many scientific break throughs that the Voyagers have documented. Even up to 2012, mission control is still receiving signals from the Voyager satellites, as of August 25th, 2012, Voyager I surpassed the heliopause of the solar system (NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, News and Archives). Once the Voyagers completed their primary mission of encountering the outer gas giants, as Voyager I was heading toward the outer reaches of the solar system, Sagan was among those who persuaded NASA to aim the spacecraft s camera back toward Earth, by then billions of miles away. ... • 48. Use Of Irony In Don Quixote Miguel de Cervantes novel, Don Quixote, is a touchstone for criticism on narrative fiction that reorients criticism towards an emphasis on the formal over the thematic and the playful over the solemn. A majority of the irony shown throughout this work is portrayed through one of the main characters, Don Quixote, whom is an old gentleman that attempts to put his fantasy ideas into action in a prosy world that makes even the meanest intelligence crack a smile. But, as the reader further analyzes the meaning of the text, it makes he or she question his or her own frivolity. The reader begins to sympathize with Don Quixote because insanity prevents him from seeing his reality as fake and inappropriate opposed to actual social needs. Irony in Don ... This viewpoint depends on whether the reader is willing to take the good or bad side of Don Quixote s crazy; it depends on whether the reader considers that Don Quixote has the correct moral values with madness. An example of the theme of honor that can be portrayed in an ironic way is when the narrator talks about Don Quixote fighting the windmills, saying, So saying, and commending himself with all his heart to his lady Dulcinea, imploring her to support him in such a peril, with lance in rest and covered by his buckler, he charged at Rocinante s fullest gallop and fell upon the first mill that stood in front of him, (I.VIII). This passage portrays Don Quixote s valiance and determination towards Dulcinea as honorable because he charges at the windmills with all of his might, but this passage is also ironic because he is investing all of his honorable valiance and determination on fake giants that are actually windmills. He contains a vast majority of the valiance it takes to become a knight, but he is applying all of his energy in the wrong ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
