Story Of Grandmother
The Story of Grandmother
Religion has always been around for many years and will continue to live on. Since 2014, there
are an estimated 4,200 different religions, all over the world each believing in different things
Having their own set of rules and tradition that must be followed. Storytelling became a way to
give people advice or telling people what would happen if they disobey their religious rules or
tradition. In the story of a grandmother, it critiques religion for the way it can lead to snap
judgments and a loss of freedom. Religions set a snap judgment of people in the same religion or
even in different religions. Each religion slandering the others, some examples are Christianity
believe the pagans worships the devil while The Romans slandering Christians say that they are
atheist and cannibals. Each religion creating conflict with the next sometimes this can lead to
war, which is called the Holy wars killing each other in the name of their gods. While it can lead
to many conflicts outside of their religious group they are a bigger one inside. If a person from the

Blindspot Lab
Abstract:
This lab report will focus on answering the question Is the blindspot variable in humans? I use three
participants to conduct an experiment to test that theory. After the experiment I gathered all the
data and calculations for review. My results showed that the blindspot is variable in humans.
Introduction:
в—ЏI am trying to answer the question Is the blind spot variable in humans?
в—ЏWe are able to see the world around us thanks to our eyes. First light enters the cornea which
is the outermost layer of the eye. The cornea bends the light and it travels through the pupil to the
lens which again bends and shapes the light as it moves to the retina. The retina contains thousands
of light sensing nerves (rods and cones). These cells ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Developmental psychology focuses on development during the course of one s life. How
personalities and behaviors change over the course of someone s life.
The sixth is clinical. Clinical psychology focuses on mental illness, disease and the overall mental
health of an individual.
The seventh is individual differences/ personality. This field focuses on what personality means.
The uniqueness of each individual how no two people are the same. (Initiative, n.d)
This experiment would fall into the biological field of psychology as it focuses on the human eye.
Categorical variables are observations that can be sorted into categories like age or gender.
Quantitative variables are observations that can be measured like size or weight. In this experiment
the categorical variable was the age and gender of my participants. The quantitative value was the
size of the blindspot when measured. (Statistics, n.d.)
Independent variables are variables you can control. Like the dosage of a medication given during a
study. Dependant variables are variables you cannot control. Like the participants reaction to the
medication. In this experiment the independent variable was the blindspot test given to participants.
The dependant variable was the participant s individual blindspot size. (Helmenstine,

Two Major Characteristics Of Organic Growth
1.Describe two major ways in which a company can grow. Give examples to illustrate the two
ways of growing. Every entrepreneur drives towards growth. Usually the desire to become
bigger, access a larger client base, increase earnings and wealth is a major goal of all business
owners. Usually growth can be organic or inorganic. Organic growth is the one orchestrated and
fueled primarily by the activities and expansion within the organization. It involves increasing
marketing activities and also sales, hiring additional staff members, opening up the organization in
new territories and may even involve diversification into new businesses and creation of new
product lines. In certain instances some companies segment the market and create products
targeted at the various segments after a careful understanding of the characteristics of the various
segment. A classic example of organic growth is seen in the brewery/bottling industry. It is not
unusual to see companies in this sector offer multiple products targeted at a different portion of
the population. Beer from sorghum extracts and the ones from barley extracts are identified and
packaged separately from pure 100% ethanol based drinks. Each is produced for a different
crowds. Most breweries also have water purification units as part of the production process so lately,
many of them have also ventured into the commercial production of bottled water. It s a similar
strategy with most bottling outfits. The production of

The EU Banana Trade Dispute
The EU Banana Dispute Until the implementation of an EU wide banana trade regime that went
into effect in the summer of 1993, each of the then twelve member countries of the European Union
had their own system of tariffs (or lack of tariffs) for incoming agricultural products, including
bananas (Patterson, 2001). After the relevant legislation was enacted, however, bananas from
certain countries known as ACP countries developing countries in Africa, the Caribbean, and the
Pacific that were by and large former colonies of European Union member states and were in need
of trade assistance according to the prevailing wisdom could be exported to the European Union
/imported by member countries duty free, while bananas produced in other countries were still
being taxed to a significant degree (though the taxation amounts were now standardized across the
entire European Union) (Patterson, 2001). Despite the justification of the duty free imports from
certain countries as a means of encouraging and assisting the development of countries that had
been potentially held back or damaged by European colonization, and thus the lack of taxation
serving as a sort of reparations, many other nations objected to this legislation as inherently unfair
(Patterson, 2001). Not only was the tariff imbalance seen as unfair, it was also illegal under the
General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), according to many nations. The United States
raised formal objections to the European Union s

Nike Child Labor
There are a large number of individuals who unintentionally support the work that these children
do. A prime example of this would be consumers who purchase professional athletic gear such as
the jersey of the Los Angeles Laker s star Kobe Bryant or the former Most Valuable Player (MVP)
Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors. These are only two out of the thirty National Basketball
Association(NBA) teams that will be required to use Nike produced gear. In 2015, the NBA signed
an 8 year contract with Nike for them to produce all of the gear for all NBA Teams, such as
jerseys and shorts as well as fan gear such as jerseys, t shirts, socks, jackets and any other apparel
that the league can use to generate large profits. However, the consumers... Show more content on

Children who work in factories and sweatshops to make rugs or clothing do not receive the proper
education that is necessary for them to advance their level of employment. This can lead them to a
constant level of class where they do increase their profits and live uncomfortable and unfortunate
lifestyles. These children are receiving very little if any education to produce items at very low
wages in environments that are unenjoyable and unethical. The terrible working conditions which
can consist of massive heat, large amount of infestation, or unsafe equipment can not only causes
harm or illness, but can eventually lead to death. There are no children in the world who would
want to work in an environment that can end their life at any given moment due to improper safety
regulations. It is unfortunate that individuals who purchase the goods that these children produce
such as cell phones, laptops, carpet, and clothing are unintentionally providing these children with
their low wages of sub one dollar an hour. However this often occurs because of a lack of
knowledge people have regarding child labor around the world. Also the endorsements that these
major companies have by athletic programs at both the professional and collegiate levels such as
the NBA and Washington State Universityreach such a large population of viewers that individuals
feel it is good to buy these products. Unintentionally there are millions of supporters who buy sport
jerseys and Samsung Galaxy phones who provide these companies with the money that they pay
children, rather than working together to boycott them in order to damage their pockets. It is a
lack of education and knowledge that several non profit organizations are working on providing to
not only the consumer but also to the children who are being affected worldwide. The

I have 4 things that I would suggest Ms. Hu and her Boss to do.
First thing is tell Mr. Guinn to apply for Family Leave as soon as possible because he does need the
leave for his wife, in addition to that, if this case is happening in California, he also can apply for
Paid Family leave.
Secondly, consider if it s possible to use his paid leave for previous absent and tardiness to make

company for 9 years, so I think he has right to take paid leave. If they can do that, they don t need
to be worried about equality, but they need to check his wife s medical document to refer the date.

Oedipus The King Vs Jocasta Essay
Plays are meant to be watched not just to be read. A play by definition is a dramatic performance.
Do you realize there are many more benefits to watching plays rather than reading plays? Watching
plays keep all the characters in the storyline, permits you to see emotions and heightens your
experiences.
When you watch a play the audience is aware of all the characters weather they have speaking lines
or not. When reading a play the reader loses characters that do not show up on the page as they
have no speaking lines. The characters have a presence on stage interacting with the other
characters even without dialogue. Characters may use body language without words to convey
meanings. As seen in Oedipus the King, Jocasta has a few lines ... Show more content on

Some of the ways the character emotions are expressed are by body language, facial expression
and movement. The dramatic performance adds to the developing and understanding of each
character. As in the playOedipus the King, Jocasta appears on stage listening to Oedipus describe
his fate. Her face shows great concern as she covers her mouth in disbelief. The audience is
aware that Jocasta understands what has happened. She knows the entire plot. In print the reader
is unaware that Jocasta realizes the truth to the tragedy. Characters mood and emotions on stage
add to the meaning of the play. Plays are meant to be experienced. Characters come alive through
their actions, mood, and costumes. Watching a play becomes a multi sensory experience. The
audience gains the benefit of the playwright s script along with the actors interpretations and
research. The stage lighting is used to add to the mood and meaning of the story. Along with the
lighting there are sound effects to enhance your experience. Watching gives all these experiences
where reading only gives dialogue. The dramatic performance heightens the experience. There are
many more benefits to watching plays rather than reading plays. Watching plays adds to your
experience, allows you to see characters emotions, and keeps all characters n view. Watching plays
far exceeds reading plays. So turn up your inner emotions and go see a

Switching Power In Oroonoko, By Aphra Behn
Once power is given it cannot be taken away that is the way everyone thinks right that if the
status is higher up it cannot be knocked down. Wrong. Just as quickly power is given it can be
taken away even faster. One narrative I will discuss in this essay is Oroonoko by Aphra Behn. This
narrative could be viewed in many different ways. One way it can be seen is as a biography,
another is a memoir, but it can also be seen as a travel narrative. In this essay I will touch base on
the topics of switching power. By switching power I mean how different individual s power
fluctuates within situations in the novel. Aphra Behnand Oroonokoare able to exceed the way they
are viewed. Behn is both the narrator and the author and Oroonoko is the prince as well as a
slave. Behn is able to be identified as not only powerful, but also as the sideline or less important.
All the while Oronooko is the prince and also a slave. Both an example Behn used to portray an

different ways. Behn and Oroonoko s power fluctuates making the narrative interesting and

Summary of Evil and Atheism This essay is a summary of...
In William L. Rowe s paper The Problem of Evil and Some Varieties of Atheism he sets out to
accomplish two main goals. The first goal is directed toward theists, while the second attempts to
reach the very wellspring of an atheist s heart. Foremost, Rowe sets out to show that there is an
argument for atheismbased on the existence of evil that may rationally justify someone in being an
atheist (335). After he has effectively addressed this first issue he moves on to try and convince the
atheist that in light of all the evidence that theists are rationally justified (just as much as the
atheist) and therefore that atheists should subscribe to what Rowe calls friendly atheism.

Shakespeare’s Brilliant Use of Symbolism
To be or not to be that is the question (Kittredge, 993). This is one of William Shakespeare s best
known and used quotes. Many who use it do not even know what piece it is taken from, or what
exactly it means. It just sounds like a cool, tragic, Shakespearean quote to use to sound more
intelligent. And that is the sad truth. Shakespeare s works are filled with quotes, soliloquies, and
experts, like this one, that are filled with innuendos, imagery, word choice, etc. One very
important literary technique used by Shakespeare, in all of his works, is his symbolism, which
portrayed Shakespeare s life, time period, and messages he wished to get across to his audience.
He also used his symbolism to satirize whomever he wished. Shakespeare s... Show more content on

Hamlet s uncertainty of death is felt throughout this entire soliloquy. Later in it he says, But that
the dread of something after death, The undiscover d country from whose bourn No traveler
returns, puzzles the will, And makes us rather bear those ills we have Than fly to others that we
know not of? (Act II, Scene I, ll 78 82).
In this expert the traveler and the undiscovered country symbolizes someone traveling in death
onto the unknown after life. This entire soliloquy symbolizes Hamlet s uncertainties of death.
One other example of symbolism that is used in Hamlet is a serpent. The serpent, which Hamlet
s father s ghost refers his uncle to, represents the evil and deceit that the uncle used to get the
crown. A serpent, many times in literature, represents something that is secretive, evil, and
tempting, just as Lucifer, in the form of a serpent was in the garden of Eden. Now the serpent
was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made (Genesis 3:1). The ghost of
Hamlet s father says of his uncle, Tis given out that, sleeping in my orchard, A serpent stung me.
So the whole ear of Denmark Is by a forged process of my death Rankly abus d. But know, thou

Meeting the customer requirements (Oakland 2003) is a reasonable definition of quality.
Meeting the Customer s requirements is a tough challenge as the requirements of customer are like
the water of a tide; it s likely to change at any point of time. So identifying the expectations of the
customer and performing service in accordance to it is a task that requires great skill. But at the
end of the day if customer s expectation is met and the customer is satisfied with the product, we
could say that quality has been achieved.

The second type of communication in this scenario is operational communication. This involves

there are any changes in priorities. During this stage, my customer (guide) was regularly informed
about my progress. He would then suggest particulars that increased the overall quality of my work

Through such communication, my project was successfully completed on time in the way my

warns him of the police ambush. Lime gets away and attempts to lose the military police beneath
Vienna as police reinforcements chase after him in the underground maze of sewers. The
sequence plays a significant role in the larger background of the narrative as it acts as a build up
to the climax of the film. The chase sequence is well crafted and located and is effective in
advancing the plot of the movie (Kiplange). Lime s escape into the underground is also symbolic
of a rat in a maze as the police who enter the sewer from different tunnels, outnumber Lime. The
sequence is fast paced and builds up the climax, as the capture of Lime seems eminent. The
depiction of Lime as a rash individual shooting indiscriminately at the police foreshadows the
probable demise of Lime under police gunfire.

The Lack Of A Central Holocaust Memorial
ecrying the lack of a central Holocaust memorial in Germany, a group of German citizens begins
a decade long campaign for a highly visible, national Memorial to Europe s Murdered Jews. The
idea for the memorial is first proposed by journalist Lea Rosh and historian Eberhard Jaeckel who
together had made a documentary about the deportation and mass murder of Europe s Jews
between 1933 and 1945.
November 1992
Key decisions
The German government decides that the memorial should be devoted only to Jewish victims of
the Holocaust and designates a prominent location in the center of the newly unified city of Berlin:
The five acre site will lie due south of the Brandenburg Gate, which until 1989 had divided East and
West Berlin. The site is also just a few steps from the buried remains of the bunker where Adolf
Hitler committed suicide. Amidst the Berlin s tremendous construction boom (which garnered it
the nickname Europe s Hong Kong ), the monument is but one of many construction projects that
anticipate the relocation of the German federal government from Bonn to Berlin by the year 2001
the same year that the monument is scheduled to be unveiled.
November 1993
Another memorial is dedicated
Germany dedicates one of its central monuments, the Neue Wache, or New Guard House, to the
victims of war and tyranny. Inside is a classical statue of a woman cradling her grown, slain son, an
enlargement of one of German Chancellor Helmut Kohl s favorite works. Critics

Individualism And Transcendentalism Similarities
A city and a forest can be completely different, yet they can be of the closest of similarities.
However, transcendentalists believed that the forest is our home and the city is a shamed copy.
Transcendentalism started with Ralph Waldo Emerson. It mainly focused primarily upon being
different from everyone else and also about how nature is the primary source of life. Being out of
the ordinary and looking to nature almost as a godmother are some of the main points of
transcendentalism. The transcendentalists believed that we should not judge ourselves based upon
the ideas of others. Instead, they believed that we should view ourselves primarily through
ourselves. They also believed that nature provides life for us, while song artists today... Show more

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are a band that made the song known as Under the Bridge. Within this
song, the lead singer sings about how a city takes care of him. While he sings about a city, the song
also infers that it may not be the machines and pollution helping the man, rather it would be the
natural surroundings that help the man. While the singer doesn t point it out in broad daylight,
throughout the whole song the man sings about how the city supports him. Much like how
transcendentalists believed that nature supports us. Transcendentalists would agree with this belief
because they believed that nature provides life for all. Much like how the singer sang about how
the surrounding areas provided for him. While nature provides and has provided much for humans,
the humans themselves have to go into advancements sometimes without the help of nature. But,
nature can provide a lot for the people of earth. Under the Bridge is full of lines explaining a man s
relationship with nature, and it all describes a very important aspect of transcendentalists

Argument Vs Strict Scrutiny
Introduction
Given the scenario listed above there seems to be no ready answer to what is the appropriate
action. Should Ananta get an exemption or not? Under the Sherbet test and a pluralistic logic she
would be given a break. However, under the Smith test and a Barrian logic she would not.
Unfortunately, with the both sides having legitimate arguments I decide to appeal to a weaker right
then freedom of religion, freedom of association, to determine that the Smith test seems to get this
scenario right and that she does not deserve an exemption.
Strict Scrutiny
Seeing as both the Sherbet v Verner (sherbet) and Employment Division v Smith (smith) both
require strict scrutiny to be enacted if the scenario passes strict scrutiny then there is no point in
examining the initial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sherbet test only initiated strict scrutiny if the government forces you to have your religious
practice burdened through means of penalties or withholding benefits. Being sued qualifies as
penalty in my mind. Though I am personally not religious I can imagine that in such a case there
is burden on Ananta s part. If there was not, I am willing to guess she would have just taken the
photos so her refusal to do so I take as a sign that it would cause some burden it she did. Thus under
Sherbet the statute would be subject to strict scrutiny and fail thus being deemed unconstitutional.
Under the Sherbet Test an exemption is granted.
The Smith test only initiates strict scrutiny if the law is not neutral on the face of it and applies to
everyone equally. No specific group or groups are exempted and everyone is subject to the law
thus it does seem to be a neutral law. Thus by the Smith test even though strict scrutiny fails it does
not need to be forced there due to neutrality of the law itself. Under the Smith test no exemption is
granted.

A Comparison Of Christianity In Two Epistles Of Virginity...
Without faith, no one would be able to enter the kingdom of God. The walk of the true virgin
provides a valuable standpoint for the modern day christian. The true virgin displays that faith
without works means nothing, and that works are meant to further their walk with God. Through
faith and trust in God, the true virgin becomes a divine ambassador of Christ; the rewards that
follow his or her walk will prevail over all evil. All Christians can learn who to be in Christ by
following the walk of the virgin. Christians do not enter the kingdom of God through beauty or
eloquence nor does their faith get displayed by these things. The followers of Christ in the Two
Epistles of Virginity demonstrate their faith through their works, and Christians

The Moral Ambivalence Of Crime And Criminology
Crime and Criminology Essay
It is common knowledge that crime exists all over the world and that justice and punishment may
vary in different countries and societies. However, how justice and punishment is enforced in a
society and globally is not common knowledge. Global justice refers to the belief that the world is
unjust; while social justice, in a manner of speaking, refers to the fair treatment of everyone in a
society.( Social Justice ). Both social and global justice value human rights, remove inequality, and
holds people accountable for fair practices.( Social Justice ). If someone commits the same crime as
another person, for example, they should receive the same punishment. That is what most people
would be inclined to believe, but in the reading The Moral Ambivalence of Crime in an Unjust
Society by Jeffrey Reiman, crime and justice is reviewed and defined in an uncommon way.
Reiman discusses justice in a society where a crime was committed against him and his wife. A
visit to France should be like a dream come true, an experience of a lifetime, but for Jeffrey
Reiman and his wife it was not. In the summer of 2005, they visited a town called Nice. After
traveling all night, the couple picked up a car that they were leasing for the summer. Before they
could lock the doors to the car or even enjoy any of the accommodations, they were victimized.
There, in the city of Nice, they have a crime called vol a la portiere, theft through the door. This

Coping with Blindness
Coping With Blindness
Blindness: The state of lacking sight or not being able to see.
People in their everyday lives use their eye sight to help them function with everything they do.
We never usually stop and think about the consequences and changes we would have to make if
we were to one day lose our vision. Some people question about how we could lose our sight.
There are many different ways this might happen. It could be by accident, with something injuring
the eye. It could also be Cataracts, this could effect vision since the lens in the eye becomes foggy
and eventually over time vision could be totally impaired. Glaucoma could be another cause, this is
when fluids in the eye build up and cause too much pressure in the eye; damaging important nerves.
There are many other diseases and illnesses that could cause blindness. Once you go blind there is a
very slim chance that you will get your vision back. You will have to deal with the fact that your
life will never be the same and you will need to get the help to cope with your life changing loss.
Over the years experts have developed ways to make coping with blindness easier for people.
Giving tips and providing devices to help them complete tasks and activities in their life just a bit
easier. Whether its transportation, communicating or things we do in our everyday lives; specialists
will keep finding ways to help the visually impaired and the blind.
Obviously transportation is a key thing in our lives. Being

guessing that the hop toad may want to reach its hole. In contrast to the sportsman s eagerness in
extending his collection of birds (p. 200), Sylvia feels for the little creature, just as she enters into

Sylvia manages to attain transversal communication with other life forms including her cow, the

rapport with nature and the awakening interest in the opposite sex, Sylvia secures her purity and

hardly not appreciate the spirit of adventure and rejoice at the fancied triumph for Sylvia and the

The Problem Of Health Care
Access to health care is a key element in improving health, therefore, over the past four decades
reforming health care seems to have taken center stage. Since stepping out of the shadows, the idea
of health care as a managed competition has been evolving. The definition of the managed
competition is that of a purchasing strategy to obtain maximum value for consumers and
employers, using rules for competition derived from microeconomic principles, (Enthoven, 1993).
In a world of health care that now focuses on chronic diseases, the concept of health insurance
becomes even more important; by many seen as a human right. With the change of focus from
infectious disease to chronic disease health care executives, insurance and economic specialist
began looking at a system that has over forty years appeared to be in dire need of reorganization
and management. An ideal system would provide an efficient market as well as promote
competition among various health plans. These particular managed plans would place a value on
the cost of care as well as on the quality. With the value of money placed on the health care system
restructure would change how patients receive services from providers. In the U.S. health care
system an outline of managed competition means that a reformed system allows American s a
preference of variety, individual choice and universal coverage. This assortment of rationale would
cause providers delivering care to become more cost and quality conscious.

Bowlby Attachment Theory Essay
According to Bowlby attachment theory is a way of conceptualising the propensity of human
beings to make strong affectional bonds to particular others and of explaining the many forms of
emotional distress and personality disturbance, including anxiety, depression, and emotional
detachment, to which unwilling separation and loss give rise (Bowlby, 1984 p.27). Bowlby states
that affectionate bonding between caregivers and infants is crucial for a health development

children develop internal working models about self and about others. These internal working

The Death Influenced Music Of The Medieval And Renaissance...
In this essay I will discuss how death influenced artists in the Medieval and Renaissance era. I
will do this by explaining the view of death and its sacraments in society. By examining events
around this period I can determine the reason behind such attitudes. I will then apply this
knowledge to four works by artists from 1400 1500. I will examine how these societal perceptions
influenced the narrative behind the work. I will conclude that the view of deathand the dying man
had a great impact on the art of these periods.
The subject of death in Medieval and Renaissance art was predominant. With the rise of the Black
Death during the fourteenth century many art works centred on hell, the dying man, and
anthropomorphising death. Instead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A death which was sudden was shamed and was often interpreted as the wrath of God [2]. Death
is depicted in its traditional form as a skeleton covered by a shroud. In his hand he carries an
arrow ready to strike. Furthermore, the armoury in the foreground symbolises the fragility of
the human condition in the face of death. Armour is no longer of use; you could not fight death,
you had to accept it. Looking closely at the painting, we observe the inner battle between
religion and possession. The miser while looking directly at Death reaches for a bag of gold
which is being used by a demon to tempt him away from salvation. Infernal imps invade the
dying man s room taking his possessions; even those hidden under the bed and in his money box
[3]. Next to him, an angel is desperately trying to make the man turn his head to the figure of
Christ in the window. A ray of light from Christ symbolises the miser s possible salvation if he
turns away from the materialistic reality. The dull colour scheme is interrupted by the old man
stood at the foot of the bed. His green drapes a welcome contrast to the composition breaking up
the narrative. With a key and rosary beads hanging around his waist, does this depict continuous
narrative? Has the angel succeeded in persuading the miser to take salvation with God? We can
assume yes. During the Medieval and Renaissance period people

The National Cemetery Administration ( Nca )
Throughout history, many monumental events led to the development of the National Cemetery
Administration (NCA). Ricketts (2014) notes that the mission of the NCA is to provide Veterans
with an honorary burial space in national cemeteries. They place a heavy significance on paying
tribute to the Veteran s services and sacrifices. In order to better understand the efforts carried out
by the NCA, it is beneficial to review its history and development. According to the U.S.
Department of Veteran Affairs ( History and development of the national cemeteryadministration ,
2015), the origin of National cemeteries began during the Civil War. Prior to the establishment of
such places, fallen soldiers were often buried on battlefields, nearby campsites, or taken to the
families chosen cemetery. However as the war progressed, the chaos and limited land titles led to
quick and inadequate burials. Neither the Union nor the Confederacy were equipped with the
awareness and resources to properly bury their soldiers . In 1861, Congress provided the Union
with benefits by appointing the Army s Quartermaster General as a conductor of burial
responsibilities. This order worked to ensure that there would be a record of all burials. It also
stated that a graveshould be marked with the placement of a wooden headboard. Although these
painted headboards resembled a memorial of the fallen soldier, they quickly succumbed to
environmental elements ( History and development of the

The Melting Pot Of America
The melting pot of America is a concept of social and racial acceptance, where individuals from
across the globe can be transparently acknowledged, without being judged by their ethnicity or
race. A thought doesn t specifically reflect reality all the time, as the melting pot has never been
broadly acknowledged in America at any point in our nation s history. With the pandemic of
violence growing and tensions rising between races, with groups like Black Lives Matter, and
Antifa, contrasts between racial groups run widespread with hate against one another for the color
of their skin. However, Texas State University student Rudy Martinez, wrote an article in the
university s newspaper about how to end these tensions. Martinez affirms that all these racial
tensions come from a social construct made by white peoplecalled, whiteness , which assimilates
and separates all races from whites. Throughout the article, he explains that the separation caused by
whiteness kept all other races down, while whites remained oblivious to the advantages their skin
brings them. But despite having an interesting concept, there are many weaknesses in Martinez s
argument because he constantly contradicts himself. He tells readers that we should hate the
concept of whiteness instead, and not white people just because they were born, but instead
contradicts this with his main headline being, Your DNA is an abomination (Martinez), which

Therefore, the trade networks had a larger impact on the Persian civilizations. 1.Explain the basics
of Zoroastrianism. How did it shape Persian cutlure? How did Persian culture shape it?
Zoroastrianism is a religion that influenced the development of Christianity and Manichaeism. It
believes in the role of individuals determining their own fate and emphasizes the duality of good
and evil. Early Aryan influences on Persian religious traditions. Zarathustra (late 7th early 6th
centuries BCE) is the founder of Zoroastrianism. He believes that Ahura Mazda had chosen him to

It also influenced Judaism, Christianity and later, Islam. When Alexander of Macedonia defeated
Darius III in battle, Alexander conquered most of the Persian territories. This caused Zoroastrianism
to receive a huge blow since many priests were killed and texts were destroyed. Most Zoroastrians
in Persia during this time fled to India to escape prosecution. 1.Compare the political method(s) that

Impact Of The Voting Rights Act Of 1965
The most transformative piece of legislation relating to a minority culture group in America is the
Voting Rights Act of 1965, also known as the VRA. This piece of legislation has nearly 150 years
of history to prove that its affect on minorities, mainly African Americans, has had a major impact
on American civil rights and is still in the spotlight today. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was
signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnsonon August 6, 1965, and was designed to overcome
legal barriers at both the state and local levels of government that prevented African Americans
from exercising their right to vote. ( Voting Rights Act of 1965 ) The 15th Amendment to the U.S.
Constitution ratified on February 3, 1870 granted African Americanmen the right to vote declaring
that the right of citizens of the United Statesto vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United
States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. (Primary
Documents...) Sadly, the promise of the 15th Amendment was not realized for nearly a century
because of government use of poll taxes, literacy tests and other means used by the Southern states
to disenfranchise African Americans. The passing of the VRA helped completely change history
giving African American citizens a voice. Beginning with the passing of the 15th Amendment in
1869, minority voting rights has had a lengthy history in America. In 1896, Louisiana grandfather

the most. I am part of Student Council, National Honor Society and a member of the tennis team.
They all have molded me to be the best. However, I feel like tennis has impacted me the most. It s
a sport that has taught me so much, from being physically fit, to mentally prepared for any
outcome. I learned that a game it s not about winning or losing, but about how it s played, and what
it took to get there. Being in a team is about contributing others, and learningfrom them. It s about
accepting that we all make mistakes, and only practice can reduce the times we make them. So
many loses and few victories, but I always preferred to sheer my

Essay on Effective Communication
Barriers to Effective Communication
Even though an individual s backgrounds and beliefs can affect the process of communication, one
must utilize the different processes and components to achieve effective communication. Because
barriers block the listening process causing misunderstanding that may block the flow of
information between individuals. Therefore, this misunderstanding may blur the lines of
communication utilized within the criminal justice system.
The basic concept of communication is interaction between two or more people that results in the
passing of information. However, for this process to happen effectively one must understand the
different methods and standards required to achieve the process because without this ... Show more

The officials involved in the Omaha chase had to be able to transmit the information using the radio
about the dangers that they faced to protect the others assisting (Dorland, 2012).
Understanding, Receiving, Feedback, and Retransmitting Although, the dispatcher received the
information he or she would need to understand the fullness of the situation by giving feedback.
This feedback allows the sender transmit further information so that those on the other end of the
radio will receive and understand what is transpiring at the officials location (Dorland, 2012). In a
way these five steps became known as the basis of communication. Because the information goes
through a process that requires the information to transmit through a route that allows both the
sender and the receiver to process information until they decode the entire conversation. However,
no matter how well a communication process works the people involved will always have
barriers that can block the communication process. Because each person has his or her own
backgrounds and beliefs that will cause barriers to be overcome (Wallace Roberson, 2009).
Communication Barriers Even with the best communication process, the initial receiver s confusion
of the information received may come from the distractions around them. Therefore, one must
understand what causes these barriers and come up with a solution because

Events and Treaties of World War I
Introduction In history class we are currently discussing the events and treaties of World War 1. I
found this subject very interesting and the fact that many soldiers suffered from Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder piqued my curiosity. My teacher discussed how towards the end of the war soldiers
portrayed symptoms of Post Traumatic StressDisorder and often fled during war which led to most
of them being captured by their government and killed. I want to learn more about this topic
because it is very interesting to me. I also want to learn more about why instead of finding out
why the soldiers were acting out of the ordinary they just killed them. While I am researching
this topic I hope to become better with my time management skills and also become an all
around better writer. This research question will help me evolve into a better world learner
because it will help teach me some things about the history of our world. World War 1 occurred
between a number of different countries. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder during World War 1 also
not only affected Americans it affected other countries as well because of the shell shock soldiers
were experiencing in the trenches. I am planning to take many different approaches when I am
answering this question. I plan on researching many different first hand accounts while also using
different books and internet resources. I hope to be able to get accounts about what happened from
generations of people whose families actually went

Essay On Junot Diaz
Junot Diaz has had profound success in his writing as he is able to incorporate personal
experiences through a stylistic writing pattern in which he conveys the struggles and upheavals in
the lives of his characters. Although these aspects of his writing have led to his prosperity as a
writer, the novels and short stories he produces are not suitable for young adults and children
because of controversial remarks present in his writing. Overall, Junot Diaz s vulgarity and
derogatory comments towards women and racial classes, in addition to the unexplained and unclear
wording in his novels, are clear examples for why his literature should not be incorporated in the
high schoolcurriculum, despite his direct and rhythmic writing style. Junot... Show more content on

Throughout his writing, he degrades women and immigrants escaping the tyrannous regime in the
Dominican Republic. Fremio Sepulveda, a literary critic, works to analyze Junot Diaz s novel
from an immigrant perspective as he analyzes The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao in terms
of its racial and gender stereotypes. According to Sepulveda, Diaz incorporates a male narrator
who, degrades women to foreground his own masculine identity showing how Diaz s writing
style can challenge many of his readers. For example in the novel, Diaz writes, [he] was actually
partying with Johnny Abbes sucking whiskey out of the navels of underage (expletive)
(Diaz.122). This quote shows how Diaz incorporates inappropriate wording and references to
develop his storyline making the book unsuitable for high school students. Although Diaz may
be incorporating this style to develop the plot of the story, it would be illogical to implement it
in a school curriculum due to its controversial nature. Also, Carlin Romano, writer of The Brief
Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao: It s Hard Going, But Stay With It, criticizes much of Diaz s book
for his irritating prose, badly written passages, as well as a hodgepodge of repetitive riffs on
teenage sexuality, which goes to show how much of an impact Diaz can have on high school
students reading his book and the teachers teaching the book as well. Although some teenagers may
be able to handle the suggestive nature of Diaz s writing, many teenagers would find the
explanation of certain details and descriptions to be uncomfortable and gorey. Those teenagers that
are able to read through the book may find themselves unsettled at the end, despite the fact that they
are able to get through the harsh discrimination and unsettling topics like racial and gender bigotry.
The tendentious topics Diaz chooses to bring up can have a

The Alternative Source Of Energy
Alternative Source of Energy Over the past years, scientist began thinking deeper into the
possibilities for energy that is renewable. They mostly looked into the sun as there number one
source, the wind and other renewable options. Indeed, the sun for many years has provided heat
for the earth whereby the energy it produces warms the earth directly and also indirectly. By so
doing the heat makes water to evaporate lakes and other water sources like rivers and streams
that eventually falls back to the earth and then filters into the ground. Overview of Geothermal
Energy When we go deep into the history of geothermal energy or rather archeologically, it is
clear the first human use of this discovery was in the North America and this was sometime
around 10,000 years ago with the settlement of the Paleo Indians near hot springs that served as a
source of warmth and healing purposes. In 1904, Italian scientist, Piero Ginori, the Co Prince
Piero Ginori Continti, established the first geothermal electric power plant in which power was
generated by the use of steam. Ginori is actually the person who is known for the discovery of
geothermal energy, (Armstead, H. C. H. 2008). The three main types of power plant designs,
which use geothermal as the source of energy, are, flash steam, dry steam, and binary cycle power
stations. These sources are divided into high temperature resources and low temperature resources.
The preceding two sources are used for generating heat and

Structure Function Analysis Of Sodium Channels
Structure Function Analysis of Sodium Channels in Human iPSC derived Neurons
Keywords: iPSC, sodium channel, electrophysiology, neuron, inactivation
Background: Neuronal excitability mediated by sodium dependent action potentials (APs) is
required for rapid and specific communication in our brains. This underlies our ability to sense and
respond to stimuli and for higher order cognitive functions including learning and memory. Voltage
gated sodium channels (NaVs) open in response to membrane depolarization and initiate the AP.
The О± subunit is the major functional unit of NaVs and is comprised of 4 homologous domains
(DI DIV), each containing 6 transmembrane segments (S1 6)4,5. S4, the voltage sensor that detects
depolarization, contains 4 8 positively charged amino acids each separated by two hydrophobic
residues4,6. The positive charges on S4 are pushed outward by the electric field during membrane
depolarization leading to channel opening, allowing influx of positively charged sodium ions down
their concentration gradient4. Fast inactivation helps return the membrane to rest by blocking the
conductance of sodium ions through the channel pore 1,2.
Studies in expression systems suggest that the DIVS4 plays a unique role in inactivation1,2,3,6.
Recent wholeWhole genome sequencing data associated with human disease identify other
potentially important amino acid in the DIVS45,8. Two mutations of the 4th positive charge in
DIVS4 (aka 4R4), 4R4H (arginine to histidine) and

The Four Basic Principles Of Design
The four basic principles of design will be incorporated into my journal cover project in order to
make my designs visually stimulating and organized. During the designing process, the
principle of proximity will help me group together images and words that are closely associated
with one another, so it will be clear to viewers which items are related to one another, and those
that are not. Williams s explanation of alignment rules will help ensure that words and images
are not randomly thrown on the cover, and will also remind me to commit to one type of
alignment, unless it becomes necessary for me to use more than one. I will utilize the principle
of repetition in order to make my main ideas distinct; a conscientious effort will be made to go
beyond my usual use of repetition through the use of different font styles, headings, images, etc.
The principle of contrast will help my designs become more visually appealing and will allow
me to be more creative with my color schemes. After I have completed my two illustrations, the
four principles will also serve as a final checklist, to ensure that my designs clearly project the
theme of The Future of Technical Communication, and are easily understandable. My first journal
cover will feature two images diagonally placed from one another, with blurred text to the sides of
each. I decided to include two different sections of text because although it all contributes to the
general theme, the text is separated by association; by

  • 4. Two Major Characteristics Of Organic Growth 1.Describe two major ways in which a company can grow. Give examples to illustrate the two ways of growing. Every entrepreneur drives towards growth. Usually the desire to become bigger, access a larger client base, increase earnings and wealth is a major goal of all business owners. Usually growth can be organic or inorganic. Organic growth is the one orchestrated and fueled primarily by the activities and expansion within the organization. It involves increasing marketing activities and also sales, hiring additional staff members, opening up the organization in new territories and may even involve diversification into new businesses and creation of new product lines. In certain instances some companies segment the market and create products targeted at the various segments after a careful understanding of the characteristics of the various segment. A classic example of organic growth is seen in the brewery/bottling industry. It is not unusual to see companies in this sector offer multiple products targeted at a different portion of the population. Beer from sorghum extracts and the ones from barley extracts are identified and packaged separately from pure 100% ethanol based drinks. Each is produced for a different crowds. Most breweries also have water purification units as part of the production process so lately, many of them have also ventured into the commercial production of bottled water. It s a similar strategy with most bottling outfits. The production of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The EU Banana Trade Dispute The EU Banana Dispute Until the implementation of an EU wide banana trade regime that went into effect in the summer of 1993, each of the then twelve member countries of the European Union had their own system of tariffs (or lack of tariffs) for incoming agricultural products, including bananas (Patterson, 2001). After the relevant legislation was enacted, however, bananas from certain countries known as ACP countries developing countries in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific that were by and large former colonies of European Union member states and were in need of trade assistance according to the prevailing wisdom could be exported to the European Union /imported by member countries duty free, while bananas produced in other countries were still being taxed to a significant degree (though the taxation amounts were now standardized across the entire European Union) (Patterson, 2001). Despite the justification of the duty free imports from certain countries as a means of encouraging and assisting the development of countries that had been potentially held back or damaged by European colonization, and thus the lack of taxation serving as a sort of reparations, many other nations objected to this legislation as inherently unfair (Patterson, 2001). Not only was the tariff imbalance seen as unfair, it was also illegal under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), according to many nations. And that is the sad truth. Shakespeare s works are filled with quotes, soliloquies, and experts, like this one, that are filled with innuendos, imagery, word choice, etc. One very important literary technique used by Shakespeare, in all of his works, is his symbolism, which portrayed Shakespeare s life, time period, and messages he wished to get across to his audience. However, transcendentalists believed that the forest is our home and the city is a shamed copy. Transcendentalism started with Ralph Waldo Emerson. It mainly focused primarily upon being different from everyone else and also about how nature is the primary source of life. Being out of the ordinary and looking to nature almost as a godmother are some of the main points of transcendentalism. While the singer doesn t point it out in broad daylight, throughout the whole song the man sings about how the city supports him. Much like how transcendentalists believed that nature supports us. Transcendentalists would agree with this belief because they believed that nature provides life for all. Much like how the singer sang about how the surrounding areas provided for him. • 22. Argument Vs Strict Scrutiny Introduction Given the scenario listed above there seems to be no ready answer to what is the appropriate action. Should Ananta get an exemption or not? Under the Sherbet test and a pluralistic logic she would be given a break. However, under the Smith test and a Barrian logic she would not. Unfortunately, with the both sides having legitimate arguments I decide to appeal to a weaker right then freedom of religion, freedom of association, to determine that the Smith test seems to get this scenario right and that she does not deserve an exemption. Strict Scrutiny Seeing as both the Sherbet v Verner (sherbet) and Employment Division v Smith (smith) both require strict scrutiny to be enacted if the scenario passes strict scrutiny then there is no point in examining the initial ... The sherbet test only initiated strict scrutiny if the government forces you to have your religious practice burdened through means of penalties or withholding benefits. If there was not, I am willing to guess she would have just taken the photos so her refusal to do so I take as a sign that it would cause some burden it she did. Thus under Sherbet the statute would be subject to strict scrutiny and fail thus being deemed unconstitutional. Under the Sherbet Test an exemption is granted. The Smith test only initiates strict scrutiny if the law is not neutral on the face of it and applies to everyone equally. No specific group or groups are exempted and everyone is subject to the law thus it does seem to be a neutral law. Thus by the Smith test even though strict scrutiny fails it does not need to be forced there due to neutrality of the law itself. Under the Smith test no exemption is granted. Who gets it ... The walk of the true virgin provides a valuable standpoint for the modern day christian. The true virgin displays that faith without works means nothing, and that works are meant to further their walk with God. Through faith and trust in God, the true virgin becomes a divine ambassador of Christ; the rewards that follow his or her walk will prevail over all evil. All Christians can learn who to be in Christ by following the walk of the virgin. • 25. The Moral Ambivalence Of Crime And Criminology Crime and Criminology Essay It is common knowledge that crime exists all over the world and that justice and punishment may vary in different countries and societies. However, how justice and punishment is enforced in a society and globally is not common knowledge. Global justice refers to the belief that the world is unjust; while social justice, in a manner of speaking, refers to the fair treatment of everyone in a society.( Social Justice ). Both social and global justice value human rights, remove inequality, and holds people accountable for fair practices.( Social Justice ). If someone commits the same crime as another person, for example, they should receive the same punishment. That is what most people would be inclined to believe, but in the reading The Moral Ambivalence of Crime in an Unjust Society by Jeffrey Reiman, crime and justice is reviewed and defined in an uncommon way. Reiman discusses justice in a society where a crime was committed against him and his wife. A visit to France should be like a dream come true, an experience of a lifetime, but for Jeffrey Reiman and his wife it was not. In the summer of 2005, they visited a town called Nice. After traveling all night, the couple picked up a car that they were leasing for the summer. Before they could lock the doors to the car or even enjoy any of the accommodations, they were victimized. • 28. The Problem Of Health Care Access to health care is a key element in improving health, therefore, over the past four decades reforming health care seems to have taken center stage. Since stepping out of the shadows, the idea of health care as a managed competition has been evolving. The definition of the managed competition is that of a purchasing strategy to obtain maximum value for consumers and employers, using rules for competition derived from microeconomic principles, (Enthoven, 1993). In a world of health care that now focuses on chronic diseases, the concept of health insurance becomes even more important; by many seen as a human right. With the change of focus from infectious disease to chronic disease health care executives, insurance and economic specialist began looking at a system that has over forty years appeared to be in dire need of reorganization and management. An ideal system would provide an efficient market as well as promote competition among various health plans. These particular managed plans would place a value on the cost of care as well as on the quality. With the value of money placed on the health care system restructure would change how patients receive services from providers. In the U.S. health care system an outline of managed competition means that a reformed system allows American s a preference of variety, individual choice and universal coverage. This assortment of rationale would cause providers delivering care to become more cost and quality conscious. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The Death Influenced Music Of The Medieval And Renaissance... In this essay I will discuss how death influenced artists in the Medieval and Renaissance era. I will do this by explaining the view of death and its sacraments in society. By examining events around this period I can determine the reason behind such attitudes. I will then apply this knowledge to four works by artists from 1400 1500. I will examine how these societal perceptions influenced the narrative behind the work. I will conclude that the view of deathand the dying man had a great impact on the art of these periods. The subject of death in Medieval and Renaissance art was predominant. With the rise of the Black Death during the fourteenth century many art works centred on hell, the dying man, and anthropomorphising death. Instead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A death which was sudden was shamed and was often interpreted as the wrath of God [2]. Death is depicted in its traditional form as a skeleton covered by a shroud. In his hand he carries an arrow ready to strike. Furthermore, the armoury in the foreground symbolises the fragility of the human condition in the face of death. Armour is no longer of use; you could not fight death, you had to accept it. Looking closely at the painting, we observe the inner battle between religion and possession. The miser while looking directly at Death reaches for a bag of gold which is being used by a demon to tempt him away from salvation. Infernal imps invade the dying man s room taking his possessions; even those hidden under the bed and in his money box [3]. Next to him, an angel is desperately trying to make the man turn his head to the figure of Christ in the window. A ray of light from Christ symbolises the miser s possible salvation if he turns away from the materialistic reality. The dull colour scheme is interrupted by the old man stood at the foot of the bed. His green drapes a welcome contrast to the composition breaking up the narrative. They place a heavy significance on paying tribute to the Veteran s services and sacrifices. In order to better understand the efforts carried out by the NCA, it is beneficial to review its history and development. According to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs ( History and development of the national cemeteryadministration , 2015), the origin of National cemeteries began during the Civil War. Prior to the establishment of such places, fallen soldiers were often buried on battlefields, nearby campsites, or taken to the families chosen cemetery. However as the war progressed, the chaos and limited land titles led to quick and inadequate burials. Neither the Union nor the Confederacy were equipped with the awareness and resources to properly bury their soldiers . In 1861, Congress provided the Union with benefits by appointing the Army s Quartermaster General as a conductor of burial responsibilities. This order worked to ensure that there would be a record of all burials. It also stated that a graveshould be marked with the placement of a wooden headboard. A thought doesn t specifically reflect reality all the time, as the melting pot has never been broadly acknowledged in America at any point in our nation s history. With the pandemic of violence growing and tensions rising between races, with groups like Black Lives Matter, and Antifa, contrasts between racial groups run widespread with hate against one another for the color of their skin. However, Texas State University student Rudy Martinez, wrote an article in the university s newspaper about how to end these tensions. Martinez affirms that all these racial tensions come from a social construct made by white peoplecalled, whiteness , which assimilates and separates all races from whites. Throughout the article, he explains that the separation caused by whiteness kept all other races down, while whites remained oblivious to the advantages their skin brings them. But despite having an interesting concept, there are many weaknesses in Martinez s argument because he constantly contradicts himself. I hope to be able to get accounts about what happened from generations of people whose families actually went ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Essay On Junot Diaz Junot Diaz has had profound success in his writing as he is able to incorporate personal experiences through a stylistic writing pattern in which he conveys the struggles and upheavals in the lives of his characters. Although these aspects of his writing have led to his prosperity as a writer, the novels and short stories he produces are not suitable for young adults and children because of controversial remarks present in his writing. Overall, Junot Diaz s vulgarity and derogatory comments towards women and racial classes, in addition to the unexplained and unclear wording in his novels, are clear examples for why his literature should not be incorporated in the high schoolcurriculum, despite his direct and rhythmic writing style. Junot... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout his writing, he degrades women and immigrants escaping the tyrannous regime in the Dominican Republic. Fremio Sepulveda, a literary critic, works to analyze Junot Diaz s novel from an immigrant perspective as he analyzes The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao in terms of its racial and gender stereotypes. According to Sepulveda, Diaz incorporates a male narrator who, degrades women to foreground his own masculine identity showing how Diaz s writing style can challenge many of his readers. For example in the novel, Diaz writes, [he] was actually partying with Johnny Abbes sucking whiskey out of the navels of underage (expletive) (Diaz.122). This quote shows how Diaz incorporates inappropriate wording and references to develop his storyline making the book unsuitable for high school students. Although Diaz may be incorporating this style to develop the plot of the story, it would be illogical to implement it in a school curriculum due to its controversial nature. Also, Carlin Romano, writer of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao: It s Hard Going, But Stay With It, criticizes much of Diaz s book for his irritating prose, badly written passages, as well as a hodgepodge of repetitive riffs on teenage sexuality, which goes to show how much of an impact Diaz can have on high school students reading his book and the teachers teaching the book as well. Although some teenagers may be able to handle the suggestive nature of Diaz s writing, many teenagers would find the explanation of certain details and descriptions to be uncomfortable and gorey. Those teenagers that are able to read through the book may find themselves unsettled at the end, despite the fact that they are able to get through the harsh discrimination and unsettling topics like racial and gender bigotry. The tendentious topics Diaz chooses to bring up can have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Alternative Source Of Energy Alternative Source of Energy Over the past years, scientist began thinking deeper into the possibilities for energy that is renewable. They mostly looked into the sun as there number one source, the wind and other renewable options. Indeed, the sun for many years has provided heat for the earth whereby the energy it produces warms the earth directly and also indirectly. By so doing the heat makes water to evaporate lakes and other water sources like rivers and streams that eventually falls back to the earth and then filters into the ground. Overview of Geothermal Energy When we go deep into the history of geothermal energy or rather archeologically, it is clear the first human use of this discovery was in the North America and this was sometime around 10,000 years ago with the settlement of the Paleo Indians near hot springs that served as a source of warmth and healing purposes. In 1904, Italian scientist, Piero Ginori, the Co Prince Piero Ginori Continti, established the first geothermal electric power plant in which power was generated by the use of steam. Ginori is actually the person who is known for the discovery of geothermal energy, (Armstead, H. C. H. 2008). The three main types of power plant designs, which use geothermal as the source of energy, are, flash steam, dry steam, and binary cycle power stations. These sources are divided into high temperature resources and low temperature resources. The preceding two sources are used for generating heat and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Structure Function Analysis Of Sodium Channels Structure Function Analysis of Sodium Channels in Human iPSC derived Neurons Keywords: iPSC, sodium channel, electrophysiology, neuron, inactivation Background: Neuronal excitability mediated by sodium dependent action potentials (APs) is required for rapid and specific communication in our brains. This underlies our ability to sense and respond to stimuli and for higher order cognitive functions including learning and memory. Voltage gated sodium channels (NaVs) open in response to membrane depolarization and initiate the AP. The О± subunit is the major functional unit of NaVs and is comprised of 4 homologous domains (DI DIV), each containing 6 transmembrane segments (S1 6)4,5. S4, the voltage sensor that detects depolarization, contains 4 8 positively charged amino acids each separated by two hydrophobic residues4,6. The positive charges on S4 are pushed outward by the electric field during membrane depolarization leading to channel opening, allowing influx of positively charged sodium ions down their concentration gradient4. Fast inactivation helps return the membrane to rest by blocking the conductance of sodium ions through the channel pore 1,2. Studies in expression systems suggest that the DIVS4 plays a unique role in inactivation1,2,3,6. Recent wholeWhole genome sequencing data associated with human disease identify other potentially important amino acid in the DIVS45,8. Two mutations of the 4th positive charge in DIVS4 (aka 4R4), 4R4H (arginine to histidine) and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Four Basic Principles Of Design The four basic principles of design will be incorporated into my journal cover project in order to make my designs visually stimulating and organized. During the designing process, the principle of proximity will help me group together images and words that are closely associated with one another, so it will be clear to viewers which items are related to one another, and those that are not. Williams s explanation of alignment rules will help ensure that words and images are not randomly thrown on the cover, and will also remind me to commit to one type of alignment, unless it becomes necessary for me to use more than one. I will utilize the principle of repetition in order to make my main ideas distinct; a conscientious effort will be made to go beyond my usual use of repetition through the use of different font styles, headings, images, etc. The principle of contrast will help my designs become more visually appealing and will allow me to be more creative with my color schemes. After I have completed my two illustrations, the four principles will also serve as a final checklist, to ensure that my designs clearly project the theme of The Future of Technical Communication, and are easily understandable. My first journal cover will feature two images diagonally placed from one another, with blurred text to the sides of each. I decided to include two different sections of text because although it all contributes to the general theme, the text is separated by association; by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
