Polygamy And Marriage In Chad
Polygamy is legal and completely common in Chad. Our Africa lists on their website: It is common in
Chad for men to have more than one wife and large extended families of wives, children and other
close relatives are the norm. ( People Culture. ). If I came from an extended family living in Chad, I
would definitely not be getting the nutrition I need. Sure, there are more people in the family, bringing
in a larger income as a whole, but there is also more people and children to be fed and income in Chad
is nowhere near the amount of an average income in the U.S. Many young girls in Chad are married
before they turn eighteen, mostly to older men. These older men probably already have many other
wives as well as several children. I do not think as a wife in Chad you would feel as loved and
cherished by your husband who is sharing his love with other women. This is a supportive reason as to
why many girls do not finish school to get an education. Living in the United States, society has
shown us to frown upon young marriages and pregnancies, which I do, but in Chad that is their culture
and the norm for them. With my life here, I would never even begin to think about getting married
when I am twenty years old, let alone younger than eighteen! The main reason for this is because I
would still be in high school, then hopefully college, followed by a stable job and income so now I
would be able to afford a wedding and family. To become a wife in Chad is much

La Raza Unida Party And Brown Beret Recruitment Literature
Throughout the 20th century, Los Angeles emerged as a place of multiculturalist struggles. One of
these struggles, was that of the Mexican population, which is what the book Mi Raza Primero focuses
on. In Mi Raza Primero by Ernesto Chavez, Chavez successfully argues how the collapse of the
Chicano movement resulted from the failure to identify the multi faceted and dynamic/heterogeneous
nature of the ethnic Mexican community. He argues how this failure resulted in a movement that
shared a strong sense of cultural nationalism, yet differed in tactics and goals. Chavez uses the
examination of La Raza Unida Party and Brown Beret recruitment literature to help support his
argument. Specifically, Chavez focuses on the voting data from the late ... Show more content on

The Brown Berets clearly recruited a specific person, thus being unable to assemble a wide array of
people from the Chicano population to reach significant reform. On top of the failure of identity in the
Chicano movement, the movement did not have much political success. La Raza Unida Party was a
party that formed as a response to the violence of Chicano activist demonstrations, deciding that to
achieve reform, peaceful actions were necessary. Activists in this party agreed on the need for Chicano
political activism but had a tough time agreeing on how to achieve it. Multiple conferences called
within Southern California chapters resulted in no clear unification or coordination. Even though the
common goal to get a single member of the Chicano movement in elected office was shared, the lack
of a clear position on what the party wanted to achieve and the strategy for achieving it led to major
contradictions. Chavez states, the only common feature among party chapters was a commitment to
vote Chicanos into office. The lack of organization and common agendas led to disagreements
between branches; for example the Texas LRUP to break off from the California LRUP, as Chavez
mentions. The LRUP never succeeded in its

The 1920 s
The 1920 s were a difficult time for those in the agriculture industry. It was a time of industrialization,
however the farmers were unable to keep up. Furthermore this caused new laws to be made and old
laws to be vetoed. Farmers were unable to repay their debts and were put out of business. This caused
a decline in the goods being both imported and exported. This led to the great depression that began in
1929.
The 1920 s was a time of change and industrialization for America. During this time the agriculture
industry was both growing with new technologies, but declining the amount of sustainable farmers.
They were expected to industrialize their farms buying new expensive equipment, that forced them out
of business.During this time the farmers were having problems paying off their crops, and were
getting loans for short periods of time. They were also in high hopes of the government finding a way

The McCumber act of 1922 dramatically raised the price of tariffs, making it hard for european
countries to pay off their war debt (para 7 of Fordney McCumber Tariff). This act was made to
increase the amount of income that the United States would receive as a whole, because of the
agricultural decline in America the entire world is under distress. This act failed 7 years later in 1929.
In 1928 president coolidge vetoed the McNary Haugen Bill This was the law that allowed the
government to sell the farmers surplus to outside countries at world price(Adler, pg. 568). This was
the government s attempt to help the farmers in any way possible. This crisis had not only affected the
farmers and their families, but the entire world. Without the farmers ability to produce goods for
consumers, there would be no exporting goods, only the importation of goods, causing a major
economic decline. The veto of this bill helped keep all surplus goods inside the United States to lower
the costs of importing

Compare And Contrast The Iphone 7 Plus Vs. Samsung Galaxy...
Compare and Contrast
Ecstatic, anxious, and thrilled are the emotions that run through seemingly every single teenager when
the newest smartphone hits the market. Yet, numerous teens run into the same debate every time the
top smartphone creators release their new devices. Teens are presented with the dilemma of choosing
which phone to buy. In order to decide teens will often rely on peer pressure, whichever phone is
released first, or the phone that their parents choose. The iPhone 7 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S8+
are the most recent releases that have imposed distress upon teens trying to choose one phone over the
other. However, when contrasting the iPhone 7 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S8+ is it undeniable that
teens should prefer to buy the Samsung Galaxy S8+ due to the fact that it is the considerably superior
device.
For teens who rely on their parents to pay for their phones, or work in order to buy their own phones
the deciding factor on which phone to buy is the price. According to the Apple.com, the iPhone 7 Plus
retails for $969 with a charge port included. It is important to mention that this does not include
accessories such as earbuds. Everything else is sold separately. According to Samsung.com, the
Samsung Galaxy S8+ retails for $850 with included accessories such as earbuds, USB cord, and a
charging port. Although the difference in price may only be about $100 this can make a significant
difference. When buying new phone teens, will expectedly want to buy accessories for it. Such as a
case, earbuds, screen protector and so on. Taking all these facts into consideration it is obvious that the
SGs8+ is the better option. The Samsung accessories retail at lower prices and some of the accessories
come included when the phone is purchased. Purchasing the iPhone 7 plus and all the desired
accessories surely bring the bill to over $1000 which few parents will want to pay for a phone. The
SGS8+ is a much cheaper choice with even more significant qualities.
In addition to the cost, customers and the companies that create smartphones, focus on the quality of
the smartphone. Quality consists of numerous factors such as the camera quality, screen resolution,
sound quality, microphone quality and so

Police Brutality And Police Brutality
The law of this world tells one to get rich but kills you when you try to make ends meet, one is told to
stand up straight and be loud but sets your skin against you when your pride gets a little too loud. Over
the past decade, police brutality has been an extremely controversial issue as it is a serious violation of
the basic human and civil rights of American citizens. These actions of severe beatings, fatal chokings,
and unjustified shootings have caused an outburst from the minority communities which has made it
easy for many to be fooled through the language of persuasion. In the haze of these atrocities,
movements like Black Lives Matter have successfully used the hate and fear that African Americans
have against the men in blue to make

Examples Of Superstitions
A superstition is a set of thoughts that are incongruent with reality, which lead to a series of doings,
behaviours and beliefs that an object or action that is not related to a group of events influences its
outcomes (Akova, 2011; Damisch, Stoberock, Mussweiler, 2010). There are superstitious people all
around the world, with different religions, beliefs, cultures and traditions (Akova, 2011).
Superstitions can serve to give either good or bad luck, some examples can be: crossing fingers, four
leaf clovers, knocking on wood, breaking a mirror, seeing a black cat, opening an umbrella inside the
house, or even a set of steps self made before an event (Akova, 2011).
Skinner proved that superstitious behaviours do not only occur in humans by doing an experiment
with a group of hungry pigeons. For a few minutes each day, he gave the ... Show more content on

This paranormal belief may be the result of those with an external locus of control attempting to deal
with the uncontrollability of their lives. On the contrary, individuals who present an internal locus of
control do not necessarily hold superstitions, probably because they do not have the need of coping
with the uncontrollability of their lives (Stanke Taylor, 2004).
Religiosity and superstition
In many studies, it has been found that religiosity correlates with the occurrence of superstitious
behaviours and paranormal beliefs. Apparently, a higher degree of religiosity correlates with a higher
frequency of reporting beliefs in paranormal experiences or the supernatural (Stanke Taylor, 2004).
However, religion considers superstitions as extravagant and irrational, but religion itself could be
practiced in a superstitious way, not actually believing in god but praying once in a while and
attending church just in case (Delacroix Guillard, 2008).

Purpose Of Workers Compensation Insurance
Small business can expect to pay around $2,000 to $3,000 in Workers Compensation Insurance
premiums annually, where the premiums raise with number of covered employees.
There is a minimum requirement for Employer liability coverage in Workers Compensation, required
by law, of $100,000 to $500,000 per employee for body injury claims.
Workers compensation insurance aims to provide coverage to employer for medical costs in the event
of employee injury due to employer negligence or lawsuit from employee and to provide the employee
with coverage for lost wages and additional medical benefits in the event of work place injury.
Overview
Workers compensation insurance, commonly called workman s comp, has two primary motives: 1)

On November 16th, 2017, World Market released a workman s comp insurance option for business
that carry a workforce of freelance employees. Previously, businesses could only over employees
categorized as W 2 employees under workers compensation insurance, but now those categorized as
1099will also be covered. According to World Market this will new option for legal protection will
allow businesses to be able to have the same peace of mind when engaging independent contractors as
they do with W 2 employees.
SCOPE
Occupational Safety and Hazard Act (OSHA) is the legislation that surrounds the standards for a safe
work environment. When employers do not meet these standards, lawsuits can follow. However, even
if these standards are in place, accidents can still happen, and this is when workers compensation
insurance is used.
Most states consider workman s comp claims to be no fault meaning it is irrelevant whether your
employer s negligence (carelessness) contributed to your work related injury or occupational disease.
Workman s comp insurance will cover any injury or illness that is job related . That includes actions
associated with work that may not occur at the physical job site i.e. during travel. Workers
compensation also covers sudden injury or illness (e.g. a fall), as well as long term injury or illness,
such as repetitive stress injuries (e.g. carpal tunnel syndrome), lung disease or other

Pennies Should Be Eliminated Essay
Find a penny, pick it up, all day long you ll have good luck. This commonly used saying is being
valued less and less as the days progress. On a daily basis, thousands of people walk down the streets
of busy cities. Today the majority of people state that when they pass by a penny on the ground, they
don t stop to pick it up. Due to this and many other reasons penny production should cease. In society,
other countries have chosen to withdraw their coins, pennies lack circulation, and they are costly to
produce, leading us, as a nation, to lean towards the decision of stopping their production.
Each day, around the world, countries and governments choose to make changes daily, leading citizens
to believe that the use of the penny could easily be abolished. Back in the 1800 s, America partook in
the use of a half cent. In 1857, the government decided that it was too much of a nuisance and was not
used often enough. As a nation, we chose to stop its production. After its eradication, there was no
record of the people struggling to adjust to its disappearance. Citizens were able to continue making ...

pennies will then sit in this change jar for months or even years, until someone decides to donate or

The Antibacterial And Antiseptic Impregnated Catheters
Methodology
Extraneous Variables
It is very important for the researcher to control the extraneous variable that could affect the study
results. The extraneous variables that would affect the results in this study include, the catheter
material, the catheter care, and the method of obtaining the urine sample. To control the catheter
material, this study will be using the antimicrobial and antiseptic impregnated catheters instead of the
standard catheters as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) 2009
guidelines because they are effective in reducing the risk of CAUTIs. To control the catheter care, the
study will follow the CDC guidelines for routine catheter care by ensuring that all the indwelling
urinary catheters (IUC) maintain a sealed drainage system, and an unobstructed urine flow. In
addition, the nursing staff will be cleansing the meatal area daily with warm soapy water instead of
antiseptics, while maintaining the standard precautions including hand hygiene and wearing of gloves
while performing peri urethral care. To control the procedure for obtaining urine sample, the study
will use the CDC recommendation for collecting the urine sample aseptically, by aspirating the urine
from the sampling port with a sterile syringe after thoroughly cleansing the port with an antiseptic
wipe (Gould et al., n.d.).

Utopian Safe Sex Talk
A life filled with purely similar beliefs is theoretically impossible to come by, unless somehow a
Utopian society is developed with distinct guidelines forcing identical ideals amongst everyone. Since
that hasn t occurred yet, it is important that as people we are able to see, respect and possibly even
learn from the beliefs and origins of others. How we grow from our experiences in differing
perspectives and ideologies, demonstrate who we are as humans. Growing up having a very close
relationship with my mother and always maintaining strong communication, talking was always
straightforward. I had The Talk over the process on how babies were made when I was six years old.

why not to have sex. She told us that our virginity is a sacred gift and how it should only be given to

environment. Public school is unique because of all the different views and ideals that compose it,
therefore I believe that teaching religious beliefs in a public school environment is incorrect. I felt that
the instructor was wrong in her teaching; instead of teaching impressionable kids the safe ways to

simply tell us not have sex and we would incoherently obey (which many of us

Information Systems Information Systems of Freight Forwarders Introduction Nowadays, Information
systems are crucial for the core processes of freight forwarders. In this report we will address an issue
of the use of a Port Community System. Freight forwarders tend to use their own information systems
for communication, instead of a central platform. Freight forwarders use various information systems
parallel to each other, since these in general are faster or they do not see the benefits of a system such
as Portbase for example. The purpose of this study is to understand the way in which freight

According to them it is especially the pan European transportation and the reliable/value added

information exchange through a common platform like a PCS is an important aspect for the future.
Currently the forwarding agents only want to reap the benefits of a PCS but are unwilling to bear the
investments necessary due to high switching barrier from the prior to the current system. (Fenex and
Syntens 2010 and van Baalen et al 2008). Only 45% of the participating freight forwarders in the
study by Fenex and Syntens (2010) consider the improvement and adaptation of a PCS as a top 3
priority for the years 2010 and 2011. While a considerable amount of 18% is not planning to improve
or adapt their digital information exchange with other actors for the coming years, due to the fact they
mainly consider a PCS at a similar level as a normal software provider (Leonard Barton 1988 and
Wigand et al 2005). In conclusion it can be said the main drivers for cooperating through a PCS are
increased efficiency by saving time and costs and the decreasing number of mistakes made as
described by Burckhardt et al(1998) and Fenex and Syntens (2010). While the main disadvantage can
be described as the high switching barrier for freight forwarders to adapt its current operations (with it

Cultural Destruction Of Slavery In The Middle East And Africa
Two hundred and sixty seven years ago began a time of innovation and invention, as well as the
adoption of social theories which brought about change that is seen in the footings of nearly every
society today. However, even in times of human advancement which seemed to be for the better,
devastating consequences were still seen across the world, particularly in the Middle East and Africa.
Hidden in the shadows of history is a dark reality that resulted from advancements made by man; a
reality of slavery, both in the restriction of freedoms as well as economic entrapment, and a reality
with the blind justification for cultural destruction, using internal strife of developing nations as a
weapon in and of itself. Between the 1750 s and the 1910 s there was a plethora of historically

The Effects Of Television On Television Messages
Cultivation theory suggests that exposure to television messages can be an important factor
influencing the behavior of individuals who spend a significant amount of time with the medium
(Gerbner, 1969; Shanahan Morgan, 1999)
History
George Gerbner, in 1976, founded the Cultural Indicators project, which estimated that the average
American child will have watched 8,000 murders on television by the age of twelve. Gerbner is so
alarmed about the baneful effects of TV that he describes them in terms of fascism.
Gerbner s cultivation theory says that television has become the main source of storytelling today.

Although there may be potential benefits from viewing some television shows, such as the promotion
of positive aspects of social behavior (e.g., manners, friendship, cooperation, altruism, etc.), many
adverse health conditions can also result.
Respondents for this study were viewers and nonviewers from all regions of the United States. 430
individuals respondents were recruited through the national media to take an online survey. Because
television free individuals comprise a very small percentage of the general population, advertisements
were made in national media establishments likely to attract participants who do not watch television.
These establishments included a large nationally syndicated popular magazine and the web site for the
TV Turnoff Network. Survey respondents were divided into three groups: (a) television free, (b)
viewers who watch in accordance with AAP recommendations and (c) frequent viewers (over two
hours per day).
Hammermeister found that television free individuals show a stronger association with enhanced
psychosocial health profiles than members of the moderate viewing group (i.e., the group following
AAP guidelines) was not supported for men or women. Watching television less than two hours per
day provides the same relation with psychosocial health as being television free in this sample. This is
consistent with cultivation studies examining behavioral effects of television viewing and

Destruction of Sennachrib, by Lord Byron, uses heavy amounts of imagery, metaphor, and
euphemism, and this poem is about a battle that took place, and the aftermath of it. This poem also has

Byron uses sensory words to paint a morbid image of death and pain from times past. Lord Byron uses
visual imagery to illustrate the dead soldiers from the battle. And there lay the rider distorted and pale,
/ With the dew on his brow, and the rust on his mail: (Byron 17 18). This quote is more descriptive
than just saying that people died. It paints a surrealistic image of the field. Instead it painted a picture
of pain and suffering and a loss of life that makes the reader feel the sadness of the battle. This also
gives the poem a saturnine feeling. This is the third of many literary devices in The Destruction of
Sennachrib.
Imagery is also used in many other parts of the poem. Like the leaves of the forest when Summer is

hath blown,/ That host on the morrow lay withered and strown (Byron 5 8). This is showing the visual
aspects of the imagery, because, everyone can

Religion And Religion In Ron Howard s Angels And Demons
Emphasising the position of the Catholic Church as well as science and development, Ron Howard s
Angels Demons illustrates the universal components alongside the intrinsic struggle in a modern
society from a unique perspective. Centered around the Harvard symbologist, Professor Robert
Langdon, alongside C.E.R.N physicist, Vittoria Vetra, the plot reestablishes the legend of Illuminati
through showcasing the latter s struggle with the Catholic Church. While Langdon protects the church
from an outside threat of explosion and an inside threat of the Camerlengo, the audience is enchanted
by not only the plot twists but also the featured art and architecture. Representing the cults and
societies presented in the movie, the art plays a significant part in the overall plot alongside the
multiple themes illustrated in the story. Explicating effective instances of social changes and
functions, Ron Howard s 2009 film Angels Demons evidently presents a commentary on the struggles
between religion and science from a symbolic interaction perspective. Exhibiting an ancient conflict
under a contemporary light, the movie Angels Demons highlights the characteristics of modern society
in regards to its antique counterpart. Presenting countless instances of alterations in society in terms of
not only behavioural patterns but also cultural values, the movie elaborates on the social statics as well
as social dynamics. Defined by Auguste Comte, social statics is the study of social

Reform for the Social Security System Essay
The Social Security System is in need of a new reform; our current system was not designed for the
age stratification we have at this time. The U.S. Social Security Administration Office of Policy states,
The original Social Security Act, signed into law on August 14, 1935, grew out of the work of the
Committee on Economic Security, a cabinet level group appointed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt
just one year earlier. The Act created several programs that, even today, form the basis for the
government s role in providing income security, specifically, the old age insurance, unemployment

The Social Security System Act was established in the year of 1935 not expecting the baby boomers to
be born from the years 1946 through 1964. This is a dilemma because of declining birth rates and
increased life expectancy, there are now only three age stratification workers for each beneficiary, and
soon there will be only two because the elderly will retire. The system will not be able to support itself
with such few workers to pay for so many beneficiaries. Social Security system provides benefits to
retired citizens by taxing the work force on payroll checks. The American Association of Retired

Front Porch Campaign Essay
The 1920 presidential election proved to be memorable as well as historically significant for a number
of reasons. This time period is surrounded by important events in American history. It falls directly
after World War I, starts the roaring twenties, and leads the United States into the Great Depression.
Warren G. Harding was elected president over all other candidates, with promises of life going back to
normal conditions. At this point in time, American citizens were desperate for one thing: their old
normal life. The election of 1920 was important because our nation had just gotten out of World War I,
the vote ended in a landslide, and Harding changed the United States for the worse.
Preceding the Election The year was 1919 and the fighting of World War I had finally come to an end.

Rather than facing his opponent, James Cox, Harding campaigned against Wilson. Aforementioned,
Wilson was paralyzed, therefore Harding was only running against the idea of Wilson or what he had
previously stood for. He promised America change, but not a progressive change that Wilson had
provided. He gave the people the promise of normalcy, or a promise to restore the country to the state
it was in before the war. To enforce this promise even more severely, he ran a more personal
campaign. This was called a front porch campaign and it s purpose was to get supporters to come see
and talk to him on his actual front porch. It had worked for other presidents, but a prodigious reason
he did this was to be contrary to Wilson. Harding wanted to portray himself as calm and collected
compared to Wilson s campaign that took him and his failing ideas all over the United States.

Lost Humanity We have lost all feeling for one another. We can hardly control ourselves when our
hunted glance lights on the form of some other man. We are insensible, dead men, who through some
trick, some dreadful magic, are still able to run (Remarque 115). This quote shows the thoughts that
run through Paul Baumer s mind during a long battle. The quote demonstrates the stripped sense of
humanity and self control the soldiers have, and the animalistic nature the soldiers have developed.
Throughout the novel, All Quiet on the Western Front, Baumer and the Second Company become
isolated from their humanity, their childhood, and other humans. Becoming isolated from one s
humanity changes a human in drastic ways. A word of command has made these silent figures our
enemies; a word of command might transform them into our friends (Remarque 195). Remarque uses

Sexual Harassment In Australia
Introduction
Sexual harassment still remains a serious problem in workplaces around Australia and can affect
anyone no matter their age or gender. There are many rules and laws in place around Australia to
prevent this issue but there are still many cases every year, it is the one of the most common types of
complaints received by the Australian Human Rights Commission under the Sex Discrimination Act.
It affects 1 in 4 women, and 1 in 6 men in the workplace; this makes the number of people that have
been sexually harassed very large. Sexual harassment is against the law and some types can be a
criminal offence. A single incident is enough to establish sexual harassment; it does not have to be
repeated.

Argumentative Essay On Woolly Mammoth
100,000 years ago, the woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenus) roamed the Earth. The woolly
mammoth is one of the most studied megafauna of the Pleistocene epoch, which spanned from 2.6
million to 11,700 years ago. Most populations of it died out around 10,000 years ago [4], although a
small population survived until around 3.7 thousand years ago on Wrangel Island [6].
The woolly mammoth was one of the many now extinct megafauna that existed during the
Pleistocene. Others include the cave lion (Panthera spelaea) and the ground sloth (Megalonyx
jeffersonii). The end Pleistocene extinction event observed the extinction of many of these megafauna,
particularly in North America and Eurasia. By 10,000 years ago, approximately 97 megafauna which

Although a cause for the end Pleistocene extinction has yet to be agreed upon, I will be discussing and
evaluating the four most debated theories. These are the overkill hypothesis, the climatic hypothesis,
hyperdisease, and the Younger Dryas impact hypothesis.
The overkill hypothesis is the argument that the humans caused the end Pleistocene megafaunal
extinction, through over hunting.
This hypothesis could explain why megafauna in particular faced extinction during the Quaternary
extinction event, as humans assumedly chose larger mammals to hunt as they provided more food.
The climatic hypothesis suggests that the end Pleistocene extinction of megafauna was a result of
major climatic changes occurring at the end of the Pleistocene.
The timing of the last glacial interval is appropriate for the climatic hypothesis, as the last glacial
interval ended in many places, including North America, between 12,000 and 10,000 years ago. [7].
Similarly, many extinctions occurred in North America around this time, such as that of the American
cave lion (Panthera leo atrox) and the Yukon horse (Equus

The Many Factors That Religion
When it comes to Thomas and Jane Weir, there are many factors that religion has to do with their
lives. Both of them are supposed radical religious people as well as pretenders. Around the time of the
Restoration of King Charles II in 1660, Thomas Weir was thought to hold intense radical beliefs in the
Presbyterian religion and met to worship with many members of a Presbyterian group and he was seen
as a devoutly religious man. And last of all for aggravation of his fault and to make it without a
parallel, the Dittay bears he was conscious to himself of these abominations, yet he had the confidence
or rather impudence to pretend to fear God in an eminent way. Trials within the early modern Scotland
tend to rely on religion as one of the stepping stones to furthering the witch hunts. Religious members
in Scotland tend to be in charge of the main courts for trials. The Weirs have two sides when it comes
to religion within their trial. On one side of the spectrum, there is the need for religion in Thomas life.
Many resorted to his house to join with him and hear him pray...leaning upon it, which made those
who heard him pray admire his flood in prayer, his ready extemporary expression, his heavenly
gesture; so that he was thought more angel than man...ordinarily Angelical Thomas. On the other
hand, later in their trial before the execution, both Jane and Thomas repented God and did not believe
that there was anything to do with God in the afterlife. Thomas believed that God

The Ethical Requirements Protecting Confidential Information
The ethical requirements protect confidential information and only disclose such information as
mandated by law or where committed by law for a valid purpose (APA, 2005). In this particular case,
the social worker chose not to break confidentiality without her clients consent because there was not
a valid purpose in doing so according to her code of ethics in her profession. Had she complied with
the court order, she would have gone against her professions ethical code and could have faced
punishment and possible loss of licensing. The justice system could not force the social worker to
testify because there was no imminent danger involved. When law and ethical standard separate,
confidentiality situations become very complex. On one hand, a person could not fault a social worker
therapist for exposing confidential communication if ordered by the court. On the other hand, a person
could reasonably question the correctness of violating the law if believed that in doing so they are
behaving ethically. In the example of this case, the social worker was required by law to disclose
confidential information regarding a client during the course of their social worker relationship. The
social worker claimed that the law and ethical practices conflicted, making it appear that the ethical
practices in question seem illegal. The social worker choose civil disobedience at her own risk,
following the code of ethics provided by her practice, and could have faced legal

Book Of Kings Summary
The introduction of the book of Kings talks about Solomon being king as well as Jeroboam it then
goes on to talk about the Story of Elijah and Ahab. These two people did not get along. Ahab wanted
the Israelites to worship Baal, Elijah did not want that seeing that, he is a prophet he wanted the
Israelites to worship God. Since Elijah was becoming old he went out to seek out someone who would
be able to take over his position he found Elisha. The next part talks about Elisha s success. After that
it then goes on to talk about the End of the Omrid Dynasty as well as the end of Israel and Judah.
Naaman had been embarrassed of the way he looks due to his Leprosy. He felt embarrassed because
he was the army commander of the king and thought that since he had Leprosy people would look at
him differently and treat him differently. So, he went to the king of Israel to help with the cure, the
king tore his garments to pieces. Naaman went to Elisha, a prophet at the time. Elisha told Naaman to

Dr. D Arcy s The Fate Of Irish Culture
By beginning the story with a broader canvas, Joyce was able to connect Gabriel s experience to the
context of Ireland and it s society at the time. His thoughts at the end can be understood in such a way
that they can resonate with the entire nation of Ireland instead of being left at the sadness of one man.
These thoughts are motivated by Mr. D Arcy s singing that evening, and to some level, Gabriel is
contemplating his own mortality. He is also analyzing the fate of Irish culture by identifying that it
must adapt in order to retain its relevance in a modernizing world despite the efforts of his aunts.
Joyce describes everything in great detail giving his characters, no matter how small of a role they
play, life and a story; this in turn gives the entire party an air of life and vibrancy. However, the party
takes place in a beyond thoroughly described, old house. Joyce shows off this house with every detail
of its ancient splendor seeming to push it even further into the past just to show that this way of life no
longer fits into the modern Irish society. The detail in which the feast is portrayed highlights how
important food and its traditionality is to Gabriel s aunts in their efforts to preserve the traditional Irish
culture.
Joyce uses subtle detailing to create Gabriel by intensely describing his appearance and observations.
Joyce begins by describing Gabriel s carefully protected patent leather shoes (para. 20) a trend from
the continent (para. 44) to show

Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption Essay
There is a staggering amount of corruption in the prison system that is caused by pressure on the
inmates as well as the employees in Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King.
The aforementioned corruption contributes greatly to many of the main plot points in the story such
as; the harassment of the prisoners, the smuggling of contraband items into Shawshank, and the
prisoners making their own lives easier by using the corruption for their own purposes. Corruption is a
main cause of the harassment and exploitation of the prisoners. This is exemplified by the Inside out

Balloon Angioplasty Essay
1. Introduction Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the world accounting for 17.5
million people, or more than 30% of all deaths. Atherosclerosis leads to coronary artery disease, which
is a manifestation of ischemic heart disease [1,2]. When an artery narrows, or becomes blocked,
intervention is required to restore normal blood flow. In patients with multi vessel coronary artery
disease, coronary artery bypass graft surgery in generally accepted as a better method due to the
greater risk of developing recurrent ischemic events. However, in those with a single vessel
obstruction, the non surgical procedure known as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has been
shown to be as effective in treating stenosis [2]. PCI is achieved using balloon angioplasty, which was
first introduced in 1977 [1]. 1.1 Bare Metal Stents (BMS) By the mid 1980 s, bare metal stents (BMS)
were developed to overcome the limitations of balloon angioplasty [1]. Coronary stents are metal
lattices that hold the vessel open, which prevents recoil following angioplasty [2]. They are delivered
using a catheter mounted balloon inserted either in the brachial or femoral artery, which is then
threaded to the site of blockage in the coronary artery. The balloon is inflated, and the stent is released

Love Triangle In The Canterbury Tales
In the Canterbury Tale by Geoffrey Chaucer, born in circa 1340 October 25, 1400, London,
England.Chaucer expresses his beliefs of how should love be through the Knight s Tale and Miller s
Prologue since both presents a love triangle.Chaucer on the stories shows two types of love which had
similarities and differences between the characters and the events of both stories. Geoffrey Chaucer, in
the text Canterbury Tale describes the love triangle by different types of how should be love, and I saw
some similarities compared to now in how people see the love and how they show love to others.
Chaucer maintain that the love triangle is represented by Duke Theseus and John the Carpenter by
being the elderly authority figure because they try to control Emily and Alison,Palamon and Arcite by
Knight s tale, Absolon, and Nicholas by the Miller s tale represent the suitors, they had love at first
sight. Chaucer s purpose for writing this text is to compare two characters that have almost the same
roles in the stories but with other names and becoming a different type of story. This text is significant
to our understanding of love triangle because each one compares how love should be and these stories
have some similarities with now.
Early in the story, Chaucer describes two differences in how should love be as Palamon leaps out from
his hiding place, calls Arcite a traitor, declares himself to be Arcite s mortal foe, and challenges him to
a duel by the knight s tale and Alison and Nicholas form a plan to spend the night together by the
Miller s tale.
What Chaucer is saying is that in the Knight s tale love is represented as a fight between two people as
a courtly love, this means that if you want have the love of a woman you need to fight to have it,
Palamon and Arcite spend dangerous years trying to be near Emilye, they both face off with sword and
shield to fight with hundreds of knights, but in this story Emilye don t choose which one she wants,
Theseus the authority control her and say that the winner would have her, this story represents the
perfect stereotype of perfect warrior and the perfect princess not showing any personalities traits and
in the Miller s tale the characters have specific traits and they

Essay on Raphael Sanzio Inspired
It was once said by Josef Albers that, Any color subtracts its own hue from the colors which it carries
and therefore influences. An artist works upon people, places, and things that incite them to express
themselves. It is these things that lay the foundation for a masterpiece that goes on to influence future
artists. This is how the artist Raphael Sanzio came about being one of the best of his time. Raphael
took methods and ideas from his surrounding colleagues and then he would combine them with his
own personality to create some of the best works from his era. Raphael Sanzio s work of the Italian
High Renaissance era is the result of influences and incorporation of techniques of Michelangelo
Buonarroti, Pietro Perugino, and Leonardo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To make the work his own, Raphael would mix in his own personal sentiment into his work. Without
this touch, Raphael s work would simply be a copy of the work by Pietro Perugino. ( Raphael. ) Not
only does Raphael s artwork simulate the paintings of Perugino but, it also channels a strong Da Vinci
influence with its pyramidal composition, contour, balance, and interplay of light and dark
(chiaroscuro) and sfumato (extremely fine, soft shading instead of line to delineate forms and
features). (Raphael Sanzio. ) Leonardo Da Vinci s inspiration on Raphael can be most prominently
seen in his well known series of Madonnas. One of the several techniques favorably utilized by Da
Vinci is pyramidal composition. Pyramidal composition is a device used to pull the audiences eyes to
view a painting from the top to the bottom rather than from left to right. In pyramidal compositon the
objects in the painting are enclosed in what can be noted as an imaginary triangle. ( Renaissance
Baroque Art. ) This technique can be easily and most obviously seen in Sanzio s Madonna of
Belvedere and The Canigiani Madonna. In Madonna of Belvedere see figure 3 the Virgin Mary is the
main structure of the triangle. In her hands she is holding a child at her feet and is glancing at St. John.
Because of the pyramidal composition, it draws the viewers eyes to begin looking at the picture from
Mary s head and work their way down to her feet where the two children are seen. Then in The
Canigiani

After much searching, I found this absolutely beautiful hand carved handle in the shape of a unicorn
head, the steel was curved, delicate and perfect. I believe it was middle eastern. I ve never been able to
find that pic again, but the image morphed into crystal and is a striking image in my mind and
hopefully the mind of the reader. It represents what is good and pure. It is about opening your eyes
from ignorance to face the darkness head on, and not just to face darkness, but to conquer it. If the
Whistling Deer Head represents the dark, then the Unicorn dagger represents the

Luther Standing Bear Analysis
My First Buffalo, by Luther Standing Bear, may be one of the more terse stories in the anthology,
Native American Autobiography, but it by no means lacks wisdom. When reading the captivating
story, I was struck by the amount of life lessons that could be pulled out of one single experience in
Luther Standing Bear s childhood. On the surface, My Buffalo seems to be a simple coming of age
story, however once properly analyzed, you can find a story that teaches you to listen and respect
those wiser than yourself, to honor the art of hunting and to only speak the truth.
The first lesson I caught onto fairly quickly was to value and listen to you elders. Before his first
Buffalo hunting endeavour, Luther Standing Bear s father gives him some wise words of advice. He
stresses the importance of staying observant, saying, Whatever you do, watch the buffalo closely
(Krupat 301) and warns Luther Standing Bear to keep his eyes open when he passes through dust. He
also urges Luther Standing Bear to hunt with precision and patience. While this advice may seem
obvious and easy to follow, Luther Standing Bear has trouble putting such information into action at
first. When chasing the buffalo, he gets disoriented in the dust and starts to panic. Luther Standing
Bear states, I then realized how helpless I was there in all that dust and confusion. The sound of their
hoofs was frightening (Krupat 303). This moment of panic shows how essential Luther Standing Bear
s father s advice was

How Does Barhes Write The Death Of The Author
In the French theorist s Roland Barthes s essay, The Death of the Author, he explores that reading is
done through a lens of the authors life. According the Dictionary.com, to read is to comprehend the
meaning of (written or printed matter) by mentally interpreting the characters or symbols of which it is
composed. Barthes argues that the reader spends to much time allowing the author s identity to get in
the way of comprehending the meaning of the written or printed matter. He then goes on to say that
reading is way more than just a means to use to judge the author. He proclaims that we stop thinking
the birth of the reader must be at the cost of the death of the author (257). In other words, he means
the only way we can understand a work of writing is to disregard the authors, his person, his life, his
taste, his passions (254) because the readers should not use these things in a bias when interpreting a
piece of writing. He does not want the reader to be blinded by what the think of the author.
Barthes says that we must disregard the essence of the author, I say we use it to further our
interpretation of the piece of writing we are reading. While reading Barthes essay for the first time, I
thought that what he said was obvious. I was saying to myself, of course, I don t care about the author
life! I just care about what is written on this page. I really did want to agree with Barthes, at first read,
he made total sense. Ironically enough, while reading his

Best Buy Co., Inc. Customer-Centricity
Best Buy Co., Inc. Customer Centricity Background: The consumer electronics giant, Best Buy, was
first established in 1966 with a single location and a staff of three in St. Paul, Minnesota, selling audio
equipment targeted at 18 25 year old males. Initially Sound of Music/Best Buy grew through
acquisition, expanding to nine locations in the Twin Cities area by 1978. The name, Best Buy, and
expanded product line, ranging from audio and video equipment to large appliances, were a result of a
best buy sale of damaged inventory at bargain prices in 1981. In the mid 1980s, Best Buy launched
superstores similar to those of their main competitor, Circuit City and expanded by 15 stores between

Best Buy had a history of being able to adapt to the changing markets and their ability to do so
contributed to their success (i.e. the vastly expanded product line, evolution to superstores, expansion,
acquisition, converting from commission to salaried sales force.). The perception that customers were
focusing less on the technical aspect of products and redirecting their attention to service and support,
led to Anderson s custom centricity initiative. This transition and the rollout of 144 new centricity Best
Buy stores was being blamed for the company missing third quarter earnings in 2005, resulting in a
12% decline in stock value and a loss of nearly $2B in market capitalization. Did Anderson perform
the proper strategic market planning analysis before selecting and implementing the centricity
initiative? Assess the need for a change in Best Buy s strategy when Brand Anderson became CEO. If
the centricity concept is being blamed for not meeting earnings and the decline in Best Buy s stock
price and market capitalization, the question becomes was there a need for this change to the company
s strategy, was the strategy poorly implemented, was there a delayed market response to the change, or
was the launch an overly aggressive action of a newly appointed CEO? The Best Buy leadership team
first needed to evaluate whether there truly was a need for a (drastic) change and if so, was centricity
the appropriate response to the market.

The Honors Forum Analysis
The Honors Forum on January 24, 2017, helped with refining my personal life skills. Eric Rush, a

great because we listened to how he was once in our positions and is now benefiting tremendously

is able to use his super human physical strength and courage to put his people before himself. He
encounters many monsters and horrible beasts, but he never fears the threat of death. His leadership

Beowulf s uncle is king of the Geats so Beowulf is sent to help rid the Danes of the evil Grendel.
Beowulf risks his own life for the Danes, asking help from no one. He realizes the dangers but fears
nothing for his own life. After Beowulf had served his people as King of the Geats for fifty years, he
goes to battle one last time to fight a horrible dragon whom is frightening all of his people. Beowulf is
old and tired but he fights the dragon in order to protect his people. Even in death he wished to secure
safety for the Geats so a tall lighthouse is built in order to help the people find there way back from
sea.
The most heroic of traits within Beowulf is that he is not afraid to die. He always explains his death
wishes before going into battle and requests to have any assets delivered to his people. ...and if death
takes me...send to Hyglac the best of war clothes that protects my breasts, finest of male shirts. It is a
legacy of Hrethel, the works of Weland. Fate always goes as it must. He is aware of the heroic
paradox; he will be glorified in life or death for his actions. He knows that when he fights an enemy
like Grendel or Grendel s mother he will achieve immortality as the victor or the loser. I resolved
when I sat down in the sea boat with my men, that I should fulfill the will of your people or else fall in
slaughter. I shall achieve a dead of manly

Robert Boyle s Discovery Of The Charcoal, Graphite, And...
Dating to the prehistoric times, carbon have already been founded as the charcoal by Egyptians and
Sumerians. The founder s name is still unknown. Carbon s name comes from its Latin name carbo
which means burnt wood. Although, the use of carbon was from a very early time, people never see it
as an element until Robert Boyle s discovery in seventeenth century. Carbon occurs naturally as many
forms included anthracite, graphite, and diamond. Charcoal and soot were more prevalent in history
and diamond was much more difficult to identify. Giuseppe Averani and Cipriano Targioni were the
first people who discovered that diamond could be destroyed by heating. In 1694, they made the
diamond disappeared just by using a gem and a large magnifying glass to focus the sunlight to the
diamond. In 1772, Antoine Lavoisier showed that diamonds are a form of carbon because when he
burned the samples of charcoal and diamond, they didn t produce any water and they both released the
same amount of carbon dioxide per gram.
In 1779, Carl Wilhelm Scheele showed another allotrope of carbon graphite, which were known as a
form of lead in early times. He found out that graphite was almost identical to charcoal except a small
admixture of iron, and when it oxidized with nitric acid, it gave out aerial acid (carbon dioxide). In
1786, the French scientists Claude Louis Berthollet, Gaspard Monge and Vandermonde confirmed that
graphite was mostly carbon by oxidizing with oxygen in the same way

level of thinking. These species hunted by brute force with a simple stone tool. Also, that their

physiques adaptation to cold, shorter than Homo sapiens, but bones were thicker, oblique forehead and
heavy eyebrows. Also, often Neanderthal s craniums are larger than modern humans. They had larger
ankle joint, elbow joint and shorter forearm, broader ribcage and lower cranium. They were the most
advanced group of primates, except modern humans. Neanderthals weren t fewer intelligent than
modern people; they had clothes and had some kind of language. Neanderthal living space showed
complex use of the instrument, abstract thoughts and speech, burial of their dead and manufactured
primitive art objects. Some stereotypes against these species are that they had limited stone tools and

Summary Of A Private Soliloquy In Shakespeare By William...
At the end of act one, Shakespeare wrote a private soliloquy for Iago. Its purpose is for the audience to
know what he is planning, as it sets the stage for the rest of the play: the plot is based upon Iago s
plan. This creates tension and anticipation as we are waiting to see whether the plan works or not, and
what the consequences of the plan are. Throughout the soliloquy, Iago speaks in Blank Verse as
opposed to prose. Blank Verse is what was used for the important people, for example the Duke would
speak in blank verse. Iago may not be as powerful as the Duke, but to highlight his importance as he s
the main villain, Iago speaks in Blank Verse. It also highlights Iago s self importance, because Iago
feels as though he is above everyone else, Shakespeare wrote is lines in Blank Verse.
In the soliloquy, Iago reveals how he truly feels about the other characters. My fool my purse shows
that he feels as though Rodrigo is an object that belongs to him, because Shakespeare uses the
repetition of a personal possessive pronoun. This shows how Iago feels as though he s superior to
Roderigo. Iago thinks Rodrigo is below him, and this is shown when Shakespeare uses animal
imagery to describe Iago: Expend with such a snipe . A snipe is a worthless bird, which in those times
would ve been thought as below humans, once again highlighting his self important arrogance. It
shows that he feels as though Roderigo is not a human which leads to a lack of empathy on Iago s
part.

The Global Population Is Ageing At An Alarming Rate
The global population is ageing at an alarming rate, with over eight precent of the world s population
over 65 and this number is expected to double by the year 2030 (International Federation for Social
Workers, 2012). For Huffnung et. al. (2010), late adulthood encompasses the years following 65 and is
characterised by a period of substantial decline in functioning including physical, psychological and
social. Whilst dementia is not an inevitable part of the ageing process, it has however due to the
ageing population become more prevalent within society, especially within remote aboriginal
communities (Brodaty Cumming 2010 cited in Jones Creedy 2012, p.44). Dementia does not refer to a
single disease rather, a group of symptoms specifically retaining to the cognitive impairment of
individual which later progresses to effect both physical and the social function of sufferers.
Developed by Engel (1977), the biopyschosocial model can be used to examine the progression of this
disease during late adulthood. Thus, late adulthood is seen as a period of significant change with
individual facing unique challenges in regards to development.
Dementia is an emerging global health problem, with the prevalence of this disease estimated to sit at
twenty five million people as of 2003 (Arkles et al., 2014, p.6). However, due to the ageing population
these figures are expected to double every twenty years and is estimated that by the year 2040 that
eighty one million people will be

Summary Of Mother To Son By Langston Hughes
Stevie Wonder, whom was an American musician, once said, Mama was a great teacher, a teacher of
compassion, love, and fearlessness. If love is sweet as a flower, then my mother is that sweet flower of
love. This quote by Stevie Wonder helps us understand the fact that mothers try, in the best ways, to
see you succeed by teaching from the mother s perspective and the experiences she has been through
to get you to see the world in a different way. Just like the quote, in Mother to Son we also see the
emphasis on the teachings or life lessons of a mother and how the mother tries to make the son
understand by teaching him that success is something you have to work for, just like the mother had to
and still has to do in her life. In Langston Hughes Mother to Son the poem portrays a mother who
informs her son about the life she has lived along with the difficulties that she encountered and has
overcame, hence the fact that she is telling her son. The mother explains to her son that despite the
difficulties and challenges that come to you and are ahead of you in life, you must not give up because
motivation and determination will push you through life, which is what becomes the overall theme of
this poem. Langston Hughes first method to clearly display the theme of perseverance is through the
use of an extended metaphor within the whole poem. The constantly acknowledged metaphor
throughout this poem is the comparison of the mother s life to a set of crystal stairs. In the poem the
mother says Life for me ain t been no crystal stair, this metaphor is to portray that the mother s life
hasn t been easy going and beautiful like a set of crystal stairs would be. Furthermore, it helps us get a
clear image that the mother s life has been filled with ups and downs. The mother is portrayed to have
had a rough life, but as the reader continues to read the poem we see that she pushes through these
hard times and does not give up to prove that determination will get you far; which we see when she
says For I se still goin , honey, I se still climbin which is the continuation of her prospering.
Furthermore, Langston Hughes incorporated imagery and diction into this poem to get his audience to
visualize the

Critique of the ideas for the Existence of God
Critique of the ideas for the Existence of God
For thousands of years the idea of God have been questioned and proposed by philosophers, scientists
and scholars alike. Many have argued for and against its existence and it s still a subject of heated
debates in the present day. Since God is a notion about an entity that was never seen or heard from by
anyone, it has been a strenuous struggle to substantiate his existence. Yet, great philosophers have
always found a way to validate the idea of God through their own way of reasoning. The philosophical
discussions about God s existence began with pre modern philosophers such as Plato, Saint Augustine,
and it was further examined by modern philosophers such as Descartes etc. In this essay I ... Show

However much they may lack form, and however great may be their propensity not to exist,
nonetheless some form remains in them so that they do exist in some way.. so this should be enough of
a proof that all good things come from God, since everything that exists whether that which has
understanding, life, and existence or that which has only life and existence, or that which has existence
alone is from God. (Williams, 1993, p.53) In other words all finite things owe their existence to God
and these things in turn must be good, since they are creatures of God. To demonstrate the goodness of
God and its creatures, Augustine stretches the idea of lack of the good. Evil, he believes, is the
privation of the good. Thus, evil is created by the absence of the good and by the absence of God. The
conclusion is all good and powerful God exists.
Another major philosopher Rene Descartes who attempted to prove God s existence wrote a book
titled Meditations, which was composed of six essays, each of which tried to answer different
philosophical questions about self existence, human nature, distinction between body and mind and
about existence of God, etc. The idea of God was so important to Descartes that he devoted an entire
essay to the discussion and substantiating of God s existence. In Meditations, similarly to Augustine,
Descartes begins his evaluation of God by first proving his own existence, because how can he prove
God exists if he

  • 2. Polygamy And Marriage In Chad Polygamy is legal and completely common in Chad. Our Africa lists on their website: It is common in Chad for men to have more than one wife and large extended families of wives, children and other close relatives are the norm. ( People Culture. ). If I came from an extended family living in Chad, I would definitely not be getting the nutrition I need. Sure, there are more people in the family, bringing in a larger income as a whole, but there is also more people and children to be fed and income in Chad is nowhere near the amount of an average income in the U.S. Many young girls in Chad are married before they turn eighteen, mostly to older men. These older men probably already have many other wives as well as several children. I do not think as a wife in Chad you would feel as loved and cherished by your husband who is sharing his love with other women. This is a supportive reason as to why many girls do not finish school to get an education. Living in the United States, society has shown us to frown upon young marriages and pregnancies, which I do, but in Chad that is their culture and the norm for them. With my life here, I would never even begin to think about getting married when I am twenty years old, let alone younger than eighteen! The main reason for this is because I would still be in high school, then hopefully college, followed by a stable job and income so now I would be able to afford a wedding and family. To become a wife in Chad is much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. La Raza Unida Party And Brown Beret Recruitment Literature Throughout the 20th century, Los Angeles emerged as a place of multiculturalist struggles. One of these struggles, was that of the Mexican population, which is what the book Mi Raza Primero focuses on. In Mi Raza Primero by Ernesto Chavez, Chavez successfully argues how the collapse of the Chicano movement resulted from the failure to identify the multi faceted and dynamic/heterogeneous nature of the ethnic Mexican community. He argues how this failure resulted in a movement that shared a strong sense of cultural nationalism, yet differed in tactics and goals. Chavez uses the examination of La Raza Unida Party and Brown Beret recruitment literature to help support his argument. Specifically, Chavez focuses on the voting data from the late ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Brown Berets clearly recruited a specific person, thus being unable to assemble a wide array of people from the Chicano population to reach significant reform. On top of the failure of identity in the Chicano movement, the movement did not have much political success. La Raza Unida Party was a party that formed as a response to the violence of Chicano activist demonstrations, deciding that to achieve reform, peaceful actions were necessary. Activists in this party agreed on the need for Chicano political activism but had a tough time agreeing on how to achieve it. Multiple conferences called within Southern California chapters resulted in no clear unification or coordination. Even though the common goal to get a single member of the Chicano movement in elected office was shared, the lack of a clear position on what the party wanted to achieve and the strategy for achieving it led to major contradictions. Chavez states, the only common feature among party chapters was a commitment to vote Chicanos into office. The lack of organization and common agendas led to disagreements between branches; for example the Texas LRUP to break off from the California LRUP, as Chavez mentions. The LRUP never succeeded in its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Furthermore this caused new laws to be made and old laws to be vetoed. Farmers were unable to repay their debts and were put out of business. This caused a decline in the goods being both imported and exported. This led to the great depression that began in 1929. The 1920 s was a time of change and industrialization for America. The McCumber act of 1922 dramatically raised the price of tariffs, making it hard for european countries to pay off their war debt (para 7 of Fordney McCumber Tariff). In 1928 president coolidge vetoed the McNary Haugen Bill This was the law that allowed the government to sell the farmers surplus to outside countries at world price(Adler, pg. 568). This was the government s attempt to help the farmers in any way possible. This crisis had not only affected the farmers and their families, but the entire world. • 6. Compare And Contrast The Iphone 7 Plus Vs. Samsung Galaxy... Compare and Contrast Ecstatic, anxious, and thrilled are the emotions that run through seemingly every single teenager when the newest smartphone hits the market. Yet, numerous teens run into the same debate every time the top smartphone creators release their new devices. Teens are presented with the dilemma of choosing which phone to buy. In order to decide teens will often rely on peer pressure, whichever phone is released first, or the phone that their parents choose. The iPhone 7 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S8+ are the most recent releases that have imposed distress upon teens trying to choose one phone over the other. However, when contrasting the iPhone 7 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S8+ is it undeniable that teens should prefer to buy the Samsung Galaxy S8+ due to the fact that it is the considerably superior device. For teens who rely on their parents to pay for their phones, or work in order to buy their own phones the deciding factor on which phone to buy is the price. According to the Apple.com, the iPhone 7 Plus retails for $969 with a charge port included. It is important to mention that this does not include accessories such as earbuds. Everything else is sold separately. According to Samsung.com, the Samsung Galaxy S8+ retails for $850 with included accessories such as earbuds, USB cord, and a charging port. Although the difference in price may only be about $100 this can make a significant difference. When buying new phone teens, will expectedly want to buy accessories for it. Such as a case, earbuds, screen protector and so on. Taking all these facts into consideration it is obvious that the SGs8+ is the better option. The Samsung accessories retail at lower prices and some of the accessories come included when the phone is purchased. Purchasing the iPhone 7 plus and all the desired accessories surely bring the bill to over $1000 which few parents will want to pay for a phone. The SGS8+ is a much cheaper choice with even more significant qualities. In addition to the cost, customers and the companies that create smartphones, focus on the quality of the smartphone. There are superstitious people all around the world, with different religions, beliefs, cultures and traditions (Akova, 2011). Religiosity and superstition In many studies, it has been found that religiosity correlates with the occurrence of superstitious behaviours and paranormal beliefs. Apparently, a higher degree of religiosity correlates with a higher frequency of reporting beliefs in paranormal experiences or the supernatural (Stanke Taylor, 2004). On a daily basis, thousands of people walk down the streets of busy cities. Today the majority of people state that when they pass by a penny on the ground, they don t stop to pick it up. Due to this and many other reasons penny production should cease. In society, other countries have chosen to withdraw their coins, pennies lack circulation, and they are costly to produce, leading us, as a nation, to lean towards the decision of stopping their production. Each day, around the world, countries and governments choose to make changes daily, leading citizens to believe that the use of the penny could easily be abolished. Back in the 1800 s, America partook in the use of a half cent. In 1857, the government decided that it was too much of a nuisance and was not used often enough. The Antibacterial And Antiseptic Impregnated Catheters Methodology Extraneous Variables It is very important for the researcher to control the extraneous variable that could affect the study results. The extraneous variables that would affect the results in this study include, the catheter material, the catheter care, and the method of obtaining the urine sample. To control the catheter material, this study will be using the antimicrobial and antiseptic impregnated catheters instead of the standard catheters as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) 2009 guidelines because they are effective in reducing the risk of CAUTIs. To control the catheter care, the study will follow the CDC guidelines for routine catheter care by ensuring that all the indwelling urinary catheters (IUC) maintain a sealed drainage system, and an unobstructed urine flow. In addition, the nursing staff will be cleansing the meatal area daily with warm soapy water instead of antiseptics, while maintaining the standard precautions including hand hygiene and wearing of gloves while performing peri urethral care. To control the procedure for obtaining urine sample, the study will use the CDC recommendation for collecting the urine sample aseptically, by aspirating the urine from the sampling port with a sterile syringe after thoroughly cleansing the port with an antiseptic wipe (Gould et al., n.d.). Information Systems for Freight Forwarders Information Systems Information Systems of Freight Forwarders Introduction Nowadays, Information systems are crucial for the core processes of freight forwarders. In this report we will address an issue of the use of a Port Community System. Freight forwarders tend to use their own information systems for communication, instead of a central platform. Freight forwarders use various information systems parallel to each other, since these in general are faster or they do not see the benefits of a system such as Portbase for example. Only 45% of the participating freight forwarders in the study by Fenex and Syntens (2010) consider the improvement and adaptation of a PCS as a top 3 priority for the years 2010 and 2011. In conclusion it can be said the main drivers for cooperating through a PCS are increased efficiency by saving time and costs and the decreasing number of mistakes made as described by Burckhardt et al(1998) and Fenex and Syntens (2010). While the main disadvantage can be described as the high switching barrier for freight forwarders to adapt its current operations (with it is own software solutions) towards ... Cultural Destruction Of Slavery In The Middle East And Africa Two hundred and sixty seven years ago began a time of innovation and invention, as well as the adoption of social theories which brought about change that is seen in the footings of nearly every society today. However, even in times of human advancement which seemed to be for the better, devastating consequences were still seen across the world, particularly in the Middle East and Africa. Hidden in the shadows of history is a dark reality that resulted from advancements made by man; a reality of slavery, both in the restriction of freedoms as well as economic entrapment, and a reality with the blind justification for cultural destruction, using internal strife of developing nations as a weapon in and of itself. The Effects Of Television On Television Messages Cultivation theory suggests that exposure to television messages can be an important factor influencing the behavior of individuals who spend a significant amount of time with the medium (Gerbner, 1969; Shanahan Morgan, 1999) History George Gerbner, in 1976, founded the Cultural Indicators project, which estimated that the average American child will have watched 8,000 murders on television by the age of twelve. Gerbner is so alarmed about the baneful effects of TV that he describes them in terms of fascism. Gerbner s cultivation theory says that television has become the main source of storytelling today. Respondents for this study were viewers and nonviewers from all regions of the United States. 430 individuals respondents were recruited through the national media to take an online survey. Because television free individuals comprise a very small percentage of the general population, advertisements were made in national media establishments likely to attract participants who do not watch television. These establishments included a large nationally syndicated popular magazine and the web site for the TV Turnoff Network. Survey respondents were divided into three groups: (a) television free, (b) viewers who watch in accordance with AAP recommendations and (c) frequent viewers (over two hours per day). Hammermeister found that television free individuals show a stronger association with enhanced psychosocial health profiles than members of the moderate viewing group (i.e., the group following AAP guidelines) was not supported for men or women. Watching television less than two hours per day provides the same relation with psychosocial health as being television free in this sample. This time period is surrounded by important events in American history. It falls directly after World War I, starts the roaring twenties, and leads the United States into the Great Depression. Warren G. Harding was elected president over all other candidates, with promises of life going back to normal conditions. At this point in time, American citizens were desperate for one thing: their old normal life. The election of 1920 was important because our nation had just gotten out of World War I, the vote ended in a landslide, and Harding changed the United States for the worse. He gave the people the promise of normalcy, or a promise to restore the country to the state it was in before the war. To enforce this promise even more severely, he ran a more personal campaign. This was called a front porch campaign and it s purpose was to get supporters to come see and talk to him on his actual front porch. It had worked for other presidents, but a prodigious reason he did this was to be contrary to Wilson. We can hardly control ourselves when our hunted glance lights on the form of some other man. Throughout the novel, All Quiet on the Western Front, Baumer and the Second Company become isolated from their humanity, their childhood, and other humans. Most populations of it died out around 10,000 years ago [4], although a small population survived until around 3.7 thousand years ago on Wrangel Island [6]. This hypothesis could explain why megafauna in particular faced extinction during the Quaternary extinction event, as humans assumedly chose larger mammals to hunt as they provided more food. The climatic hypothesis suggests that the end Pleistocene extinction of megafauna was a result of major climatic changes occurring at the end of the Pleistocene. The timing of the last glacial interval is appropriate for the climatic hypothesis, as the last glacial interval ended in many places, including North America, between 12,000 and 10,000 years ago. Both of them are supposed radical religious people as well as pretenders. Around the time of the Restoration of King Charles II in 1660, Thomas Weir was thought to hold intense radical beliefs in the Presbyterian religion and met to worship with many members of a Presbyterian group and he was seen as a devoutly religious man. And last of all for aggravation of his fault and to make it without a parallel, the Dittay bears he was conscious to himself of these abominations, yet he had the confidence or rather impudence to pretend to fear God in an eminent way. Religious members in Scotland tend to be in charge of the main courts for trials. The Weirs have two sides when it comes to religion within their trial. On one side of the spectrum, there is the need for religion in Thomas life. Many resorted to his house to join with him and hear him pray...leaning upon it, which made those who heard him pray admire his flood in prayer, his ready extemporary expression, his heavenly gesture; so that he was thought more angel than man...ordinarily Angelical Thomas. The Ethical Requirements Protecting Confidential Information The ethical requirements protect confidential information and only disclose such information as mandated by law or where committed by law for a valid purpose (APA, 2005). In this particular case, the social worker chose not to break confidentiality without her clients consent because there was not a valid purpose in doing so according to her code of ethics in her profession. Had she complied with the court order, she would have gone against her professions ethical code and could have faced punishment and possible loss of licensing. The justice system could not force the social worker to testify because there was no imminent danger involved. When law and ethical standard separate, confidentiality situations become very complex. On one hand, a person could not fault a social worker therapist for exposing confidential communication if ordered by the court. On the other hand, a person could reasonably question the correctness of violating the law if believed that in doing so they are behaving ethically. In the example of this case, the social worker was required by law to disclose confidential information regarding a client during the course of their social worker relationship. His thoughts at the end can be understood in such a way that they can resonate with the entire nation of Ireland instead of being left at the sadness of one man. These thoughts are motivated by Mr. D Arcy s singing that evening, and to some level, Gabriel is contemplating his own mortality. He is also analyzing the fate of Irish culture by identifying that it must adapt in order to retain its relevance in a modernizing world despite the efforts of his aunts. Joyce describes everything in great detail giving his characters, no matter how small of a role they play, life and a story; this in turn gives the entire party an air of life and vibrancy. However, the party takes place in a beyond thoroughly described, old house. Joyce shows off this house with every detail of its ancient splendor seeming to push it even further into the past just to show that this way of life no longer fits into the modern Irish society. The detail in which the feast is portrayed highlights how important food and its traditionality is to Gabriel s aunts in their efforts to preserve the traditional Irish culture. • 35. Balloon Angioplasty Essay 1. Introduction Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the world accounting for 17.5 million people, or more than 30% of all deaths. Atherosclerosis leads to coronary artery disease, which is a manifestation of ischemic heart disease [1,2]. When an artery narrows, or becomes blocked, intervention is required to restore normal blood flow. In patients with multi vessel coronary artery disease, coronary artery bypass graft surgery in generally accepted as a better method due to the greater risk of developing recurrent ischemic events. However, in those with a single vessel obstruction, the non surgical procedure known as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has been shown to be as effective in treating stenosis [2]. PCI is achieved using balloon angioplasty, which was first introduced in 1977 [1]. 1.1 Bare Metal Stents (BMS) By the mid 1980 s, bare metal stents (BMS) were developed to overcome the limitations of balloon angioplasty [1]. Coronary stents are metal lattices that hold the vessel open, which prevents recoil following angioplasty [2]. They are delivered using a catheter mounted balloon inserted either in the brachial or femoral artery, which is then threaded to the site of blockage in the coronary artery. The balloon is inflated, and the stent is released covering the stenosed lesion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 36. Love Triangle In The Canterbury Tales In the Canterbury Tale by Geoffrey Chaucer, born in circa 1340 October 25, 1400, London, England.Chaucer expresses his beliefs of how should love be through the Knight s Tale and Miller s Prologue since both presents a love triangle.Chaucer on the stories shows two types of love which had similarities and differences between the characters and the events of both stories. Geoffrey Chaucer, in the text Canterbury Tale describes the love triangle by different types of how should be love, and I saw some similarities compared to now in how people see the love and how they show love to others. Chaucer maintain that the love triangle is represented by Duke Theseus and John the Carpenter by being the elderly authority figure because they try to control Emily and Alison,Palamon and Arcite by Knight s tale, Absolon, and Nicholas by the Miller s tale represent the suitors, they had love at first sight. Chaucer s purpose for writing this text is to compare two characters that have almost the same roles in the stories but with other names and becoming a different type of story. This text is significant to our understanding of love triangle because each one compares how love should be and these stories have some similarities with now. Early in the story, Chaucer describes two differences in how should love be as Palamon leaps out from his hiding place, calls Arcite a traitor, declares himself to be Arcite s mortal foe, and challenges him to a duel by the knight s tale and Alison and Nicholas form a plan to spend the night together by the Miller s tale. What Chaucer is saying is that in the Knight s tale love is represented as a fight between two people as a courtly love, this means that if you want have the love of a woman you need to fight to have it, Palamon and Arcite spend dangerous years trying to be near Emilye, they both face off with sword and shield to fight with hundreds of knights, but in this story Emilye don t choose which one she wants, Theseus the authority control her and say that the winner would have her, this story represents the perfect stereotype of perfect warrior and the perfect princess not showing any personalities traits and in the Miller s tale the characters have specific traits and they ... • 37. Essay on Raphael Sanzio Inspired It was once said by Josef Albers that, Any color subtracts its own hue from the colors which it carries and therefore influences. An artist works upon people, places, and things that incite them to express themselves. It is these things that lay the foundation for a masterpiece that goes on to influence future artists. This is how the artist Raphael Sanzio came about being one of the best of his time. Raphael took methods and ideas from his surrounding colleagues and then he would combine them with his own personality to create some of the best works from his era. Raphael Sanzio s work of the Italian High Renaissance era is the result of influences and incorporation of techniques of Michelangelo Buonarroti, Pietro Perugino, and Leonardo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To make the work his own, Raphael would mix in his own personal sentiment into his work. Without this touch, Raphael s work would simply be a copy of the work by Pietro Perugino. ( Raphael. ) Not only does Raphael s artwork simulate the paintings of Perugino but, it also channels a strong Da Vinci influence with its pyramidal composition, contour, balance, and interplay of light and dark (chiaroscuro) and sfumato (extremely fine, soft shading instead of line to delineate forms and features). (Raphael Sanzio. ) Leonardo Da Vinci s inspiration on Raphael can be most prominently seen in his well known series of Madonnas. One of the several techniques favorably utilized by Da Vinci is pyramidal composition. Pyramidal composition is a device used to pull the audiences eyes to view a painting from the top to the bottom rather than from left to right. In pyramidal compositon the objects in the painting are enclosed in what can be noted as an imaginary triangle. ( Renaissance Baroque Art. ) This technique can be easily and most obviously seen in Sanzio s Madonna of Belvedere and The Canigiani Madonna. In Madonna of Belvedere see figure 3 the Virgin Mary is the main structure of the triangle. In her hands she is holding a child at her feet and is glancing at St. John. Because of the pyramidal composition, it draws the viewers eyes to begin looking at the picture from Mary s head and work their way down to her feet where the two children are seen. • 40. Luther Standing Bear Analysis My First Buffalo, by Luther Standing Bear, may be one of the more terse stories in the anthology, Native American Autobiography, but it by no means lacks wisdom. When reading the captivating story, I was struck by the amount of life lessons that could be pulled out of one single experience in Luther Standing Bear s childhood. On the surface, My Buffalo seems to be a simple coming of age story, however once properly analyzed, you can find a story that teaches you to listen and respect those wiser than yourself, to honor the art of hunting and to only speak the truth. The first lesson I caught onto fairly quickly was to value and listen to you elders. Before his first Buffalo hunting endeavour, Luther Standing Bear s father gives him some wise words of advice. He stresses the importance of staying observant, saying, Whatever you do, watch the buffalo closely (Krupat 301) and warns Luther Standing Bear to keep his eyes open when he passes through dust. He also urges Luther Standing Bear to hunt with precision and patience. While this advice may seem obvious and easy to follow, Luther Standing Bear has trouble putting such information into action at first. When chasing the buffalo, he gets disoriented in the dust and starts to panic. Luther Standing Bear states, I then realized how helpless I was there in all that dust and confusion. The sound of their hoofs was frightening (Krupat 303). This moment of panic shows how essential Luther Standing Bear s father s advice was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. How Does Barhes Write The Death Of The Author In the French theorist s Roland Barthes s essay, The Death of the Author, he explores that reading is done through a lens of the authors life. According the Dictionary.com, to read is to comprehend the meaning of (written or printed matter) by mentally interpreting the characters or symbols of which it is composed. Barthes argues that the reader spends to much time allowing the author s identity to get in the way of comprehending the meaning of the written or printed matter. He then goes on to say that reading is way more than just a means to use to judge the author. He proclaims that we stop thinking the birth of the reader must be at the cost of the death of the author (257). In other words, he means the only way we can understand a work of writing is to disregard the authors, his person, his life, his taste, his passions (254) because the readers should not use these things in a bias when interpreting a piece of writing. He does not want the reader to be blinded by what the think of the author. Barthes says that we must disregard the essence of the author, I say we use it to further our interpretation of the piece of writing we are reading. While reading Barthes essay for the first time, I thought that what he said was obvious. I was saying to myself, of course, I don t care about the author life! • 45. Robert Boyle s Discovery Of The Charcoal, Graphite, And... Dating to the prehistoric times, carbon have already been founded as the charcoal by Egyptians and Sumerians. The founder s name is still unknown. Carbon s name comes from its Latin name carbo which means burnt wood. Although, the use of carbon was from a very early time, people never see it as an element until Robert Boyle s discovery in seventeenth century. Carbon occurs naturally as many forms included anthracite, graphite, and diamond. Charcoal and soot were more prevalent in history and diamond was much more difficult to identify. Giuseppe Averani and Cipriano Targioni were the first people who discovered that diamond could be destroyed by heating. In 1694, they made the diamond disappeared just by using a gem and a large magnifying glass to focus the sunlight to the diamond. In 1772, Antoine Lavoisier showed that diamonds are a form of carbon because when he burned the samples of charcoal and diamond, they didn t produce any water and they both released the same amount of carbon dioxide per gram. In 1779, Carl Wilhelm Scheele showed another allotrope of carbon graphite, which were known as a form of lead in early times. He found out that graphite was almost identical to charcoal except a small admixture of iron, and when it oxidized with nitric acid, it gave out aerial acid (carbon dioxide). In 1786, the French scientists Claude Louis Berthollet, Gaspard Monge and Vandermonde confirmed that graphite was mostly carbon by oxidizing with oxygen in the same way ... • 47. Summary Of A Private Soliloquy In Shakespeare By William... At the end of act one, Shakespeare wrote a private soliloquy for Iago. Its purpose is for the audience to know what he is planning, as it sets the stage for the rest of the play: the plot is based upon Iago s plan. This creates tension and anticipation as we are waiting to see whether the plan works or not, and what the consequences of the plan are. Throughout the soliloquy, Iago speaks in Blank Verse as opposed to prose. Blank Verse is what was used for the important people, for example the Duke would speak in blank verse. Iago may not be as powerful as the Duke, but to highlight his importance as he s the main villain, Iago speaks in Blank Verse. It also highlights Iago s self importance, because Iago feels as though he is above everyone else, Shakespeare wrote is lines in Blank Verse. In the soliloquy, Iago reveals how he truly feels about the other characters. My fool my purse shows that he feels as though Rodrigo is an object that belongs to him, because Shakespeare uses the repetition of a personal possessive pronoun. This shows how Iago feels as though he s superior to Roderigo. Iago thinks Rodrigo is below him, and this is shown when Shakespeare uses animal imagery to describe Iago: Expend with such a snipe . A snipe is a worthless bird, which in those times would ve been thought as below humans, once again highlighting his self important arrogance. It shows that he feels as though Roderigo is not a human which leads to a lack of empathy on Iago s part. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Global Population Is Ageing At An Alarming Rate The global population is ageing at an alarming rate, with over eight precent of the world s population over 65 and this number is expected to double by the year 2030 (International Federation for Social Workers, 2012). For Huffnung et. al. (2010), late adulthood encompasses the years following 65 and is characterised by a period of substantial decline in functioning including physical, psychological and social. Whilst dementia is not an inevitable part of the ageing process, it has however due to the ageing population become more prevalent within society, especially within remote aboriginal communities (Brodaty Cumming 2010 cited in Jones Creedy 2012, p.44). Dementia does not refer to a single disease rather, a group of symptoms specifically retaining to the cognitive impairment of individual which later progresses to effect both physical and the social function of sufferers. Developed by Engel (1977), the biopyschosocial model can be used to examine the progression of this disease during late adulthood. Thus, late adulthood is seen as a period of significant change with individual facing unique challenges in regards to development. Dementia is an emerging global health problem, with the prevalence of this disease estimated to sit at twenty five million people as of 2003 (Arkles et al., 2014, p.6). • 49. Summary Of Mother To Son By Langston Hughes Stevie Wonder, whom was an American musician, once said, Mama was a great teacher, a teacher of compassion, love, and fearlessness. If love is sweet as a flower, then my mother is that sweet flower of love. This quote by Stevie Wonder helps us understand the fact that mothers try, in the best ways, to see you succeed by teaching from the mother s perspective and the experiences she has been through to get you to see the world in a different way. Just like the quote, in Mother to Son we also see the emphasis on the teachings or life lessons of a mother and how the mother tries to make the son understand by teaching him that success is something you have to work for, just like the mother had to and still has to do in her life. In Langston Hughes Mother to Son the poem portrays a mother who informs her son about the life she has lived along with the difficulties that she encountered and has overcame, hence the fact that she is telling her son. The mother explains to her son that despite the difficulties and challenges that come to you and are ahead of you in life, you must not give up because motivation and determination will push you through life, which is what becomes the overall theme of this poem. Langston Hughes first method to clearly display the theme of perseverance is through the use of an extended metaphor within the whole poem. The constantly acknowledged metaphor throughout this poem is the comparison of the mother s life to a set of crystal stairs. In the poem the mother says Life for me ain t been no crystal stair, this metaphor is to portray that the mother s life hasn t been easy going and beautiful like a set of crystal stairs would be. Furthermore, it helps us get a clear image that the mother s life has been filled with ups and downs. The mother is portrayed to have had a rough life, but as the reader continues to read the poem we see that she pushes through these hard times and does not give up to prove that determination will get you far; which we see when she says For I se still goin , honey, I se still climbin which is the continuation of her prospering. Furthermore, Langston Hughes incorporated imagery and diction into this poem to get his audience to visualize the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Critique of the ideas for the Existence of God Critique of the ideas for the Existence of God For thousands of years the idea of God have been questioned and proposed by philosophers, scientists and scholars alike. Many have argued for and against its existence and it s still a subject of heated debates in the present day. Since God is a notion about an entity that was never seen or heard from by anyone, it has been a strenuous struggle to substantiate his existence. Yet, great philosophers have always found a way to validate the idea of God through their own way of reasoning. The philosophical discussions about God s existence began with pre modern philosophers such as Plato, Saint Augustine, and it was further examined by modern philosophers such as Descartes etc. In this essay I ... However much they may lack form, and however great may be their propensity not to exist, nonetheless some form remains in them so that they do exist in some way.. so this should be enough of a proof that all good things come from God, since everything that exists whether that which has understanding, life, and existence or that which has only life and existence, or that which has existence alone is from God. (Williams, 1993, p.53) In other words all finite things owe their existence to God and these things in turn must be good, since they are creatures of God. To demonstrate the goodness of God and its creatures, Augustine stretches the idea of lack of the good. Evil, he believes, is the privation of the good. Thus, evil is created by the absence of the good and by the absence of God. The conclusion is all good and powerful God exists. Another major philosopher Rene Descartes who attempted to prove God s existence wrote a book titled Meditations, which was composed of six essays, each of which tried to answer different philosophical questions about self existence, human nature, distinction between body and mind and about existence of God, etc. The idea of God was so important to Descartes that he devoted an entire essay to the discussion and substantiating of God s existence.
