Compare / Contrast the evolution of Aquatic Organism to Terrestrial Organism. what did fish
evolve from? What were the different stages of their evolution?
What makes an animal aquatic is if it is a vertebrate or an invertebrate. They live in water for the
MAJORITY of their life, it could breathe air or extract oxygen through its habitat in the water
through their special adaptations such as gills or through its skin. A Terrestrial Organism is
basically the total opposite, these are your animals that live on land, from your friendly pets to the
slug snails living in the backyard.
Important characteristics of terrestrial organism s environment would be to have DRY land in
comparison to an aquatic animal. Oxygen is very important to a terrestrial organisms , it needs to
always be available to the organism. The environmental temperature of the environment is less
stable than in aquatic , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this happening the Devonian has become known as the age of fishes. The first backboned
fish were the Aganthans, which are commonly called jawless fish (Huges, 1996). Agnathans live
today as hagfish and lampreys, but they do not resemble ancient Agnathans (Hamlin, 1999). The
Agnathans lived from 510 to 350 million years ago (Huges, 1996). These fish, since they did not
have a jaw, sucked food in through a hole in their heads (BBC, 1998). One type of Agnathan was
the Hemicyclasis, which had only one nostril and a bony head shield (BBC, 1998). (http:/
/hoopermuseum.earthsci.carleton.ca/coelacanth/F11.HTM) The Agnathans were actually armoured
fish but more fish evolved from these first fish. The Acanthodians, or spiny fish, had jaws unlike
the Aganthans. They had a short, deep body, five fins on it s belly and of course, it has spines all
over it s body. These fish went extinct in the Carboniferous

Allan Shivers Essay example
Throughout Texas history, there have been a number of men and women to serve in their
government that have stood out from the rest. Allan Shivers has been one of those men who have
stuck out not only as a sore thumb, but even more as one of Texas greatest politicians. Even though
his come down from politics was a rough road, his accomplishments more than equal out a bad
reputation. From rags to riches, he is a landmark in the lone star state.
Allan Shivers was born Robert Allan Shivers on October 7, 1907 in Lufkin, Texas. He grew up in
an area known as the Magnolia Hills near a little town called Woodville where he attended primary
school. The Woodville school systemonly went up to the eighth grade. When ... Show more content

After only a year of practicing law, Shivers decided to run of office of the State Senate. Elected in
1934, he was the youngest member ever to sit in the Senate. He held a seat in senate for twelve
years, however was enlisted in the army part time between 1943 and 1945. This was only
possible because being in the senate did not pay enough as a result of a biennial meeting salary
base. In 1946, after inheriting a millionaire s fortune via his wife, he ran and was elected
Lieutenant Governor. In the three years of being Lt. Governor, he showed the state what he could
do in a position of power. He initiated a practice of appointing senators to specific committees
with daily agendas subsequently jumpstarting legislation. He was able to re organize the public
school system, appropriate funds for higher education, and increase funds for improving hospitals
and highways among many other things. Shivers was re elected in 1948 and assumed
governorship in 1949. His governor and party ally, Beauford H. Jester, had died of a fatal heart
attack.
As governor, he was able to accomplish more than when he was in the senate and the lieutenant
governorship combined. He pushed tax increases but initiated higher teacher salaries, raised aid
funds for the elderly and created councils and boards to help the efficiency of the legislation
process. However, there were

Synthesis Essay America By Claude Mckay
The Definition of America Synthesis Essay A puzzle of 326,870,600 pieces, all different shapes,
sizes, and colors. There are no guidelines, no edges to follow, and no instructions. Only the
discordant and chaotic mess of 326,870,600 pieces. Why should we bother to stitch together this
puzzle, imperfect as it is? Why should we allow ourselves to look further into the pieces, and
change the picture? This puzzle is America; a country so large and diverse that each person is a
puzzle piece, each of their ideas and beliefs the tabs and pockets that fit them together. Each tab,
though individually shaped in accordance with the person, fits together in a similarly shaped
pocket. The pieces, cut into odd angles with holes and strange shapes... Show more content on

Patriotism, that powerful word that strikes fire in the heart of even the most contentious of
Americans, is the pedestal for which we place our national pride upon. J. Hector St. John
Crevecoeur, a late 1700s American Exceptionalist writes in his letter What is an American?, He
must necessarily feel a national sense of pride, when he views the chain of settlements which
embellishes these extended shores . Not just relating to the America of 250 years ago, national
pride is one of the fundamental bases of modern America as well. Despite arguments and
differences, the fact that Americans can come together in unity to grieve or celebrate or support
a cause seems obscure. This is a possibility because of national pride. Our love for our fellow
countrymen and our ideals outweigh whatever personal agenda we are pushing. Anna Quindlen,
the author of the article Quilt of a Country, writes patriotism is partly taking pride in this unlikely
ability to throw all of us together in a country that across its length and breadth is as different as a
dozen countries . It doesn t matter whether we are African American, Irish American, Japanese
American, or Native American. We the people, a people of pride where the right side of the
hyphen is more important than the left, allow ourselves to rise up in the face of a challenge. We
allow ourselves to

3. If hypothetically the economy were producing only1 butter and 10 guns, it could be concludes
increasing opportunity cost, because when the graph moves from A to E, it must give up larger
amounts of butter to acquire equal amounts of guns. This is shown through the slope of the
production possibilities curve, which gets steeper as we move from A to E (McConnell, Brue,
Flynn, 2015) 4. Production outside the production possibility curve would currently be unattainable.
The production that is attainable is inside of, on the shape of, or on the line of the curve.
Technological changes such as production methods, could allow for attainability of production
outside of the curve, as technological advancements may allow production of more guns and butter.
International trade permit consumption also allows for production beyond the possibilities curve,
in that the country being traded to may specialize in guns and butter. We could trade something
that we produce at a very low opportunity cost, therefore making production of guns and butter
cost less. (McConnell, Brue, Flynn 2015) Problem B. Evaluate each of the following changes in
supply and/or demand. How will each affect equilibrium price and quantity in a competitive
market? Will price and quantity rise, fall, or be unchanged? Based on shifts, will the answers be

The Brigance Diagnostic Inventory Of Early Development II
The Brigance Diagnostic Inventory of Early Development II was written by Albert H. Brigance
Frances Page Gloscoe. The IED II was published by Curriculum Associates, Inc. in 1978 2004.
The test is administered individually with the age range of birth 7 years old. This test was
created to monitor a child s development. Because it was not a high stakes test, there was more
room for error. The IED II was translated into Spanish. Spanish tests were given to 8.6% of
participants but since scores were never compared to the English version of the test, there is no
confirmation of reliability or validity(Davis pg 9). Also, the Spanish version of the test is not
publicly available. The purpose of the Brigance Diagnostic IED II is to determine readiness for
school, track developmental progress, provide a range of scores needed for documenting
eligibility for special education services, and enable a comparison of children s skills within and
across developmental domains in order to view strengths and weaknesses and to determine entry
points for instruction (Davis 1). It also helps in assisting with program evaluation. The subtests in
the IED II include 11 areas of development. These areas include preambulatory motor skills, gross
motor skills, fine motor, self help skills, speech and language skills, general knowledge
/comprehension, social emotional development, readiness, basic reading skills, basic math for
criterion referenced and manuscript writing (Davis pg 2). The

The Importance Of Traditional Liberal Arts
In America, there has been many people that question the importance of including traditional liberal
arts within our own education. Within this controversy, there have been many voices that have
spoken up. One voice happened to be Sanford Ungar, author, and previous liberal arts president at
Goucher College in Maryland. Ungar believes that Americans are steering away from the traditional
liberal education. Choosing educational paths that lead them on a one way career path, and not
realizing what a liberal education has to offer. Some Americans believe that liberal artshas become
irrelevant in today s society, however, A 2009 survey for the Association of American Colleges and
Universities actually found that more than three quarters of our nation s employers recommend that
college bound students pursue a liberal education ( Ungar 228). By providing this information,
Ungar urges Americans to open up their minds to the pursuit of a liberal arts education. With that
being said, there were others who had different opinions.
W.H Brady Scholar, political scientist, and author, Charles Murray, expresses his own thoughts.
It is said that liberal education is part of Core Knowledge. Some even say that everyone residing
in the United States needs to know the ins and outs of Core Knowledge. Regardless of what
others say, in Murray s eyes, people have a choice. The author Murray, emphasizes that the
material covered in liberal arts is for people who enjoy that subject of

The Banking System And Global Economy Essay
The US Banking System US Banking System and Global Economy Functions and Roles of US
Financial Institutions Financial institutions are the intermediaries that connect savers with
borrowers, providing these parties with access to the financial markets (Cecchetti, 2015, p. 64).
In their role as financial intermediaries, the functions these institutions are responsible for help
the US economy operate more efficiently. They reduce both transaction and information costs
within the financial system by standardizing loan products and borrower screening processes.
These institutions also minimize risk for savers by pooling their resources and lending the
pooled funds to many borrowers. Doing so meets the needs of savers, who can access their funds
when they need them, and borrowers, who can utilize borrowed funds on the terms that best
meet their needs (Cecchetti, 2015, p. 66). It would be much more difficult, and expensive, to
match one saver with one borrower who agreed to the exact amount and term of a loan than it is
to pool resources and let a specialized institution manage the loans. For example, imagine how
difficult it would be to find one individual willing to loan you $20,000 for a period of five years at
a 3% annual interest rate so you could purchase a car. Finding a suitable match for your particular
needs would be incredibly difficult and expensive, but financial intermediaries are able to provide
this service to borrowers and savers every day at a low cost.

Cyber Criminals Take Full Advantage Of The Anonymity And...
Cyber criminals take full advantage of the anonymity and secrecy provided by The Onion Router
(TOR) networks through the Internet; therefore, attacking the very foundations of our modern
information society is very easy. Cyber crime can involve credit card theft, computer viruses,
cyberstalking, cyberterrorism, cyber pornography, Denial of Service attacks, Distributive Denial of
Service Attacks, hacktivism (hacking activism), identity theft, malware, and spam. Law
enforcement officials have struggled to keep pace with cyber criminals, who cost the global
economy billions annually. Police are attempting to use the same tools cyber criminals use to
perpetrate crimes in an effort to prevent those crimes and bring the guilty parties to justice. Cyber
fraudrefers to any type of deliberate deception for unfair or unlawful gain that occurs online. Due
to the complexity of Cyber Fraud today, typically many people will refer to themselves as
hacktivists; Anonymous, Blue Tic, and Lizard Squad are great examples. The common types or
forms that of this type of fraud discussed today will be distributed Ransomware, Social
Engineering (The art of human hacking) which relates back to a computer, and the typical
phishing tactics to steal credit and debit card information. The amount annually lost due to cyber
crime will be an undefinable number because it is happening under the radar at vast amounts every
day. Lastly I will be discussing how this type of fraud is commonly detected, how you

The s Expulsion Of Adam And Eve From Eden
Humanity as depicted by artists reflects the values of a society. Different ages have held different
perspectives on humanity. These varying perspectives are displayed through the creation of each
artist, writer, and composer. An era is described by what is produced in it; therefore, the ideas
about humanity displayed in each piece of artwork are the same ideas that shaped a particular era.
By examining components of the various pieces produced in an era, one can determine the majority
view of humanity during that time and trace the shifts in society s perspective. As time has
progressed, art transformed from having specific moral meaning to having purely subjective
meaning. During the Renaissance, art focused on biblical scenes portraying Christian ideals.
While this is nothing unusual, it is key in determining what values people in that era
appreciated. The theme that begins to emerge in the early Renaissance is the psychological state
of the people depicted. Masaccio s Expulsion of Adam and Eve from Eden is one of the earlier
examples. The couple is clearly distraught and ashamed of their sin as they trudge out of the
garden. Brunelleschi and Ghiberti also follow this idea in their works by the same name, The
Sacrifice of Isaac. Both sculptors characters convey varying emotions of this sacrifice through
position and expression. Masaccio s The Holy Trinity depicts the pain and agony at the cross with
an emphasis on Jesus instead of Mary.
Donatello s sculptures of

Dora Decided To Rescue The Homeless Child
1.The example of the Brazilian film helps Singer to explain his main argument because in the
Brazilian film Dora decided to rescue the homeless child. Dora sold a homeless child to organ
peddlers. However, when she found out that the child might be killed, she decides to rescue the
boy from the peddlers. Dora made a sacrifice in order to help a childto survive a negative

2.The main idea of paragraph 9 is that people throughout the world are able to save a child s life,
but they are not willing to do it because they might not be personally connected to their situation or
they might want to buy more material objects for their personal use. Even when a person helps
someone financially, it requires sacrifices that not everyone

Romanov Dynasty In Russia
Animal Farm is a novel that is an allegory for the Russian Revolution. For 300 years the Romanov
dynasty ruled Russia, it was supported by conservatism peasants, the secret police, the church and
the army. A dynasty with that much support and power shouldn t be able to fall so easily. So what
exactly caused the powerful regime to fall? It was mainly what supported the Romanov dynasty;
farming peasants, the church, and the army. In the books of history countries and communities that
cannot adapt, and change into new modern thinking, tend to fail. This is what happened to Russia.

The Millionaire Next Door
The book of The Millionaire Next Door is written by Thomas Stanley and William Danko, and it
uses lots of case studies and statistic data to tell us how the actual millionaires live in the society
and how can normal people become millionaires. The book shows a unique insight of millionaires
and base on the authors research in last twenty years, thus the result is convincing. The authors try
to tell us two things: wealthis what you accumulate but not what you spend; and there are some
ways you can use to get wealth. For me, this book is interesting and useful. In the first part, the
book talks about prototypical millionaires live next door and starts with describing an odd situation:
Some people live in expensive neighborhood and drive luxurious cars but with less income, while
some people do not live in upscale neighborhoods but accumulate a lot of wealth. The later ones are
the true millionaires. The authors then talk about seven common characteristics about these
millionaires: they live below their means; they allocate their time and money efficiently; they
believe that financial independence is more important than displaying high social status; their
parents did not provide economic outpatient care; their adult children are economically self
sufficient; they are proficient in targeting market opportunities; they chose the right occupation. (

However, since most of my coworkers have similar interests we get along pretty well, and most of
us were anticipating the release of SWO.
Morning Nathan. Ready for what will probably be the longest Friday at the office in a while?
As I walked into the office I was greeted by my coworker, Erik. He, like me, was clearly already
mentally ready for the weekend and playing the game judging by the fact that the SWO website
was up on his computer rather than any work. Luckily it was a holiday weekend, so the boss
honestly wasn t expecting much from us today. Additionally, a lot of us had put in a few extra

The Discovery Of The Roller Coaster
Several hundred years ago, a man near St. Petersburg, Russia, built a structure that has defined
amusement worldwide. What started as a 70 foot tall wooden structure with steps leading up to a
large slide covered with ice has grown into what we now know as the death defying, thrill inducing,
modern day roller coaster. The people who enjoyed the early Russian form of the roller coaster led
the way for the French inventors to create their own version, which included waxed slides instead
of ice covered slides because of the difference in temperature between the frigid Russia and more
temperate France. There is great debate about which country, Russia or France, first invented the
wheeled coaster, but the fact remains that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This first coaster, designed by LaMarcus A. Thompson, was an instant success. Thompson, who
invented many diverse things from the time he was a child, is now known as the Father of the
Roller Coaster . His roller coaster made over $600 per day the summer it opened, which is
amazing considering that Thompson only charged a nickel per ride. After Thompson got things
rolling , many other inventors and investors saw the profit in roller coasters and contributed to
what is now known as the Golden Age of Roller Coasters, the 1920s. During this time, nearly
2,000 coasters opened up around the country, and even into Canada. From the New York Rye
Beach Aeroplane to the Crystal Beach Cyclone in Canada, roller coasters had truly taken off.
Unfortunately for roller coaster enthusiasts, though, the economic and social changes of the
1940s, 50s, and 60s brought a sharp decline in the number of people with disposable income
enough to attend amusement parks and ride roller coasters. As a result, few new ones were built
and many were torn down during this time period. Very few of the Golden Age coasters are still in
use today. Luckily, one roller coaster reversed this downward slump and raced into what is now the
modern age of roller coasters. Kings Island, an amusement park near Cincinnati, Ohio, introduced
their new coaster, The

How Social Class Is Impacted My Childhood, Deviance And...
Social class is defined as a system of stratification based on access to such resources as wealth,
property, power and prestige (186). The social class system is typically passed down from the
parent to the child. Our textbook quotes, Although children tend to inherit the social class of their
parents, during the course of a lifetime they can move up or down levels in the strata (186).
Therefore, this system is not affected by race, ethnicity, gender or age. However, social classmay
overlap depending on specific variables. Personally, my family s social class status would be
classified as the middle class. The middle class is composed of primarily white collar workers
with a broad range of education and income; and make up about 30 percent of the U.S.
population (188). Throughout this essay, I will distinguish how my social class has impacted
my childhood, deviance and education. From the moment a person is born, they enter the world
with an ascribed status. An ascribed status is an inborn status and is usually difficult or
impossible to change (116). My ascribed status is that I am a white/caucasian female. Because I
come from a white/caucasian family, we would be considered more privileged than others.
However, because this system is not based on race or ethnicity, our assigned class in society had
everything to do with how my parents worked and lived their lives. When I was younger, my
family s social class status was considered to be the working/lower middle

Thomas Paine The Crisis No. 1 Essay
Thomas Paine writes The Crisis No. 1 in order to convince the Americans to continue to stay
united throughout this war. Paine uses patriotism as well as, logic and reasoning in order to
convince the colonists. Thomas Paine makes good use of patriotism in The Crisis No.1 in order to
make his argument more effective. He states These are the times that try men s souls. The summer
soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he
stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman ( The Crisis No. 1). When he states

In his end thoughts Thomas Paine says, But if a thief breaks into my house, burns and destroys
my property, and kills or threatens to kill me or those who are in it and to bind me in all cases
whatsoever to his absolute will, am I to suffer it? What signifies it to me, whether he who does it
is a king or a common man (The Crisis No. 1). Thomas Paine is successful when he says this to
support his argument of the Americans remaining United during this time against Britain. By using
logic he attempts to poke at the Americans common sense. He tells them the obvious, he knows
no person in their right mind would willingly let someone into their house to take their
belongings, so he uses it to his advantage. He forces the colonist to consider if they wouldn t let
their neighbor take their things why let Britain do it?Why allow yourself to remain under the
control of a not so good King? As a way of persuading the American Colonist to remain or start to
stay United with The United States, Thomas Paine writes The Crisis No.1 . Paine makes good use

Automated Design And Modelling Of Knuckle Joint
AUTOMATED DESIGN AND MODELLING OF KNUCKLE JOINT ABSTRACT
This paper shows the methodology of developing an application for design process of machine
element making a Knowledge Based Engineering (KBE) in the visual basic interfacing with the
solid works to automate the task of repetitive design process and design models, while reusing and
modifying the existing designs in a Computer Aided Design (CAD) environment. The presented
work shows the procedure for developing KBE tools for standard design process of machine
element and mechanical /engineering parts and assemblies based on the empirical relations. With
the proposed methodology and the developed Graphic User Interface (GUI), it is possible to
achieve direct interaction between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
KBE is a system or process which collects and stores and organizes this knowledge and makes it
available in the reusable form by providing computational support to the design process.
The need of KBE arouse due to problems in current knowledge structure, which is disorganized.
Existing databases, designs, thumb rules, etc. are not maintained in order, which makes the
reusability difficult. Current knowledge structure is not secure also, as the databases that are
not prepared centrally are susceptible to changes by other designers and loose reliability.
Capturing knowledge is essential, but capturing the knowledge that is not necessary would lead
to confusion and decrease effective reusability. KBE systems solve all the problems which are
indicated above. KBE allows designers to devote more time and effort in creative and the
innovative work and makes design process simpler. KBE system automatically extracts the given
necessary knowledge from every stage of design cycle, and makes this knowledge available for
remaining design cycles. KBE system allows capturing and organization of knowledge in an
efficient manner. With the application of KBE, it is possible to analyze the possibility of
manufacturing any part, knowing whether design is optimal or there are other alternative solutions
available based on the designer. The objective of the present work is to develop methodology for
automating

Importance Of Formative Assessment
3.1Discussion
To understand better the achievements of this research we find it important to refresh our mind
with what we know about formative assessment and summative assessment. Gipps (1994) defines
formative assessment as the assessment that boosts the use of assessing feedback to advance
teaching and learning while encouraging curriculum planning. As for summative assessment, Earl,
L. (2004), defines it as the assessment which is frequently used to give grades and marks to
learners for academic and administrative decisions .
3.1.1 From Assumption 1 to 3:
To come back to the achievements of this research, hypothesis 1 revealed that the trainers under
study do assess their learners in order to identify what they have learnt, ... Show more content on

It is also what the trainer does for the present learners to have the expected behavior! Formative
assessment gives room to corrections, training adaptation in order to meet the learners needs. How
do we explain the trainers failure to exploit what looks like a formative assessment? Is it not a
proof of trainers ignorance of assessment rules?
Certainly, it was not wrong to use the information deriving from the current training for further
improvements, but improvements, if any, should start with the present participants. Indeed, we did
not find it too professional to ignore the present learners by failing to give them a feedback on their
learning, but rather using their feedback for the benefit of future learners. Black, P. William (1999)
insists on the fact that summative assessment implies the provision of effective feedback to
learners, the active involvement of learners in their own learning, the adjustment of teaching to take
assessment results into account. What was hidden behind this non exploitation of formative
assessment? Was it not a mark of ignorance in the use of formative assessment?
Conclusion:
To end completely with this point, for us formative assessment should be fully used throughout the
whole training session in order to remedy possible weaknesses and insufficiencies of the training.
Thus, the learners

Police Power In Achieving Justice In The Law Enforcement...
The criminal justice system is effective in achieving justice, in relations to police power and
authority. Police are tasked with an essential role in protecting and enforcing the law. They are a
critical aspect towards the criminal justice system and the criminal investigation process. To assist
their role to the community, they ve been provided several types of powers and authorities to
achieve their duties towards the community. These authorised powers are used to stop, search and
detain a person when they re certain a crimeis committed. Consequently, policecan use this authority
to potentially violate another individuals right, such as privacy. Whilst this power allows police to
fulfil their duty to the community, is that justifiable to violate an individuals right?
Police makes the decision whether to investigate a crime based on the likelihood of success,
available resources and priorities or the severity of the offence. Police can use several methods
and authorised powers to assist their investigation. Most of NSW Police s powers are listed out in
the Law Enforcement (Powers and Responsibilities) Act 2002 (NSW). Law Enforcement (Powers

The Effect Of Bubbles And How They Affect Investment
2. The definition of bubbles and how they affect investment This section will focus on the analysis
about how bubbles affect investors behaviors. Since bubbles are closely connected with crises,
doing research on investors behaviors about overvalued assets can help economists to understand
crises fundamental. Therefore it is good for governments to take actions to prevent these crises.
The first part of this section will describe the definition of bubbles in detail, and the second part
will illustrate relevant empirical evidences to further explain how bubbles affect investing
behaviors. 2.1 Theoretical research C. Kindleberger (1978) first defined bubbles as a continuously
increasing process of assets price. This phenomenon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally he found investors behaviors in terms of the overvalued assets played an important role in
this process. Joesph E. Stiglitz (1990) agreed with the theory above, and suggested that if investors
thought assets could be sold over their expectation, they would do more investment, and then assets
actual price would increase, which also means the bubbles would appearance. He thought it is
important to prove the existence of bubbles, since they can implicate the future decrease of assets
price. Therefore governments could take actions to control investors behaviors and avoid crises. But
by taking the 1960s crisis as an example, he found bubbles existence was difficult to test. It is
because bubbles would not exist only if the assets discount rate increased equal to the assets price,
which means the assets value would be equal to the discount value. But this equilibrium is not
expectable. Then Stiglitz proposed that the markets might have multiple equilibriums, so he
collected many economists thoughts about this opinion. But he found models of different
economists were developed in terms of different methods, so they cannot reach an agreement. But
he suggested that it is still important for economists to analyze this problem in further studies.
Basing on the research of other economists, Robert S. Chirinko and Huntley Schaller finally built a
widely accepted model, Q equation, to test bubbles existence. The

The Queen Who Understood Her People
Alexandrina Victoria was destined to be Queen of England from the moment of her conception.
Commonly referred to as the queen who understood the people, Victoria spent her entire
childhood preparing to take the throne of England. In fact, the future Empress of India didn t
have much of a childhood. She was allowed very little freedom in her early life, which caused
her to ban her mother from court upon her coronation (Turner). Victoria evidently liked to be in
control of things and certainly used this to make her mark on history. As the longest reigning
monarch at the time, Victoria had 60 years to influence England (All Empires). Queen Victoria
impacted history and the 19th Century in many ways, through culture, politics and morality.
Queen Victoria is perhaps most famous for popularizing the white wedding dress (Woodham
Smith). At the time, women were married in dresses of almost any color. However, when
pictures of the queen in a beautiful white dress circulated, women began to imitate her example,
just as they imitated her hairstyle on the postage (Queen Victoria Penny Black Single). After it
became evident that Victoria and her new husband Albert were truly in love the white wedding
dress became a romantic symbol of true love. Indeed, Victoria was so in love with her husband
that she became quite useless for many years after his death. Her approach to marriage was so
different from most royals that it caused people to take notice. Instead of having many different

In Cold Blood by Trump Capote
In 1966 Truman Capote shocked the world with a novel unlike anything ever seen before. Capote s
novel In Cold Blood not only entranced readers with its often dark and mysterious tone, stunning
imagery and controversial elements but introduced its audience to an all new genre, a non fiction
novel. In 2001 Lois T. Stover commented on the complexity and depth found in quality young adult
literature, she stated that Good young adult literature deals with the themes and issues that mirror
the concerns of society ... it help readers understand the complexities and shades of grey involved
in dealing with these issues. In Cold Bloodis a superb example that there is nothing simple about
quality young adult literature, themes and messages found in capotes crime/thriller novel did and
still relate heavily to our growing society. In Cold Blood explores numerous social issues; including
the detrimental effects of mental illness, the banality of evil and the importance of family however
it s the commentary Capotemakes on the so called American dream that questions its authenticity,
takes centre stage throughout the novel.
Based on the horrendous 1959 Clutter family murder, In Cold Blood exposes young adults of
today to what seems like a whole new world. Capote s novel features stunning imagery and
immersive story telling that sends its adolescent audience back to a much a simpler time, an era far
before social media, mainstream broadcasting and technology fuelled lives. This

Mindfulness Meditation and The Reduction of Anxiety
Mindfulness Meditation and The Reduction of Anxiety
Mindfulness meditation is a form of meditation that has been prevalent for thousands of years, and
is only becoming increasingly more popular. Over the past decade, neuroscientists like myself have
become increasingly interested in studying how meditation affects the brain and body. The number
of studies conducted per year in this new field of contemplative science is rising exponentially, with
more than 200 studies published last year alone, (Hasenkamp). It s a form of meditation in which a
person builds a practice of awareness, intentionally focuses their attention on the present moment,
and accepts whatever the present moment brings, without any judgment.

The majority of study participants reported decreases in anxiety. Researchers found that meditation
reduced anxiety ratings by as much as 39 percent. (Beck and Davis)
The direct effect that focusing the mind on the present moment has on reducing anxiety and its
symptoms are largely important. The idea of not controlling one s thoughts, but redirecting them to
the present moment is a fairly hard concept for most people to fully understand. Redirecting one s
thoughts to the present moment distracts the mind from any worry some or anxiety inducing
thoughts or feelings, without giving attention to them. The redirection of thoughts essentially keeps
the mind occupied, which means the mind has less time to spend worrying or cultivating anxiety
inducing scenarios in one s mind.
In relation to the redirection of thoughts being effective in reducing anxiety, it also has been proven
to reduce physical symptoms of anxiety or discomfort. By reverting attention away from pre
existing physical discomforts, these same discomforts are given time to subside, which they
typically do immensely, solely because it isn t the focus of one s attention. Some experts believe
that mindfulness works, in part, by helping people to accept their experiences including painful
emotions rather than react to them with aversion and

Protein Analysis
Proteins are an essential component of the human body tissues. They are made by combining
amino acids together. There are many pros as well as cons to consuming inadequate amounts of
protein each day. Making sure to consume the accurate type and amount of protein is important for
the body. There are specific groups that do require more protein, however, if you are not a part of
one of these groups consuming too much protein can have harmful effects. Proteins are made
when amino acids combine to each other. There are 20 different amino acids; 9 are essential amino
acids and 11 are non essential amino acids. The body is unable to produce essential amino acids on

These groups include children, athletes, vegetarians, adolescents, and pregnant woman. Since
proteins help with the growth of tissue in the body as well as hormones and enzymes it is
important for vegetarians as well as vegans to make sure they are consuming adequate amounts of
protein. Animal products contain the majority of sources for amino acids where many plant
products are missing those sources that our bodies need. Dr. Hubbard explains in the article Are
You Getting Enough Protein published by Tufts University how animal products can provide the
complete proteins but it is possible to get them in other ways such as peanut butter, beans, rice, and
bread. Dr. Hubbard states: Despite what you may have heard, these combinations don t have to be
eaten at one meal it s a balance over a whole day that s most important ( Are You Getting Enough
Protein, 2012). Another group that needs to ensure that they have enough protein in their diet is
athletes. According to a journal titled Protein food and amino acid supplements in athletes diet, the
amount of protein required over the daily recommended amount depends on the athlete as well as
the sport. All athletes can benefit when an extra supply of protein is consumed immediately
following a workout in order to help increase muscle mass and strength endurance. Protein
consumption also helps athletes with recovery time and enhances their performance both in

Under this Act, states are awarded for increasing the number of children below 200 percent of
poverty who reside in married couple families (Nathan Gais, 1999). This measure is based on the
theory that children in single parent homes are at greater risk than those in two parent families and
the best solution is marriage. In short, the federal government is rewarding states for encouraging
marriage, a very personal decision. How do states measure the results of having more couples
getting married?
Over the past five years, the federal government has also found it difficult to measure improvement
in states. Currently, success is based in terms of job entry rate or increases over time in job entry
rate, retention rate, and earnings gain. States may use quarterly unemployment insurance wage
records, surveys, administrative records, or a combination of those data sources. States are given
wide latitude in the sources of information they report. Also, to further distort the findings, there is
no baseline data with which to make comparisons (Danziger, 2000).
Whose interests are best served by the current welfare requirements? TANF encourages states to
provide assistance to those welfare recipients who are most likely to succeed at employment,
ignoring individuals who are harder to place. In order to show increases in employment and wage

There is little room for people that wish to live without technology, moreover than living the way
they did in the old days. Technology has its advantages, it s has changed the way people have

Have you ever heard the saying Children are born with a cell phone in their hands? In today
society, children may not be born with technology in their hands, but they are introduced to it
sometimes even before they can even walk. Technology is so advanced than what it used to be,
children as young as babies can use it and learn from it. I am for my child using technology, to help

technology, for example: cellphones, tablets, video games, and many other things.
In elementary school the students are mandatory to learn how to use the computers. This allows
the students to learn how to use the computer appropriately. Learning tools for school is at the

astronaut he was a test pilot. His experience with aircraft controls helped him when he was a
backup pilot for Gemini 4 and Gemini 7, backup command pilot for Gemini 9, command pilot for
Gemini 12, command module pilot of Apollo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the first day and into the early part of the second, the flight seemed to be going well
and everything was going as planned. It wasn t until later that day that one of the oxygen tanks
would explode and cause a fire, resulting in one of the wall units blowing up. At the time of the
accident, on board the spacecraft, the crew had just finished a routine mid flight TV broadcast.
Commander James Lovell and LM Pilot Fred Haise were in the process of completing a
checkout of their lunar lander and CSM Pilot Jack Swigert was preparing to make some star
sightings with his sextant. At fifty five hours, fifty five minutes into the mission, all three
astronauts heard and felt an explosion. It got their immediate attention and, during the next few

What were the different stages of their evolution? What makes an animal aquatic is if it is a vertebrate or an invertebrate. They live in water for the MAJORITY of their life, it could breathe air or extract oxygen through its habitat in the water through their special adaptations such as gills or through its skin. A Terrestrial Organism is basically the total opposite, these are your animals that live on land, from your friendly pets to the slug snails living in the backyard. The first backboned fish were the Aganthans, which are commonly called jawless fish (Huges, 1996). Agnathans live today as hagfish and lampreys, but they do not resemble ancient Agnathans (Hamlin, 1999). The Agnathans lived from 510 to 350 million years ago (Huges, 1996). These fish, since they did not have a jaw, sucked food in through a hole in their heads (BBC, 1998). One type of Agnathan was the Hemicyclasis, which had only one nostril and a bony head shield (BBC, 1998). (http:/ /hoopermuseum.earthsci.carleton.ca/coelacanth/F11.HTM) The Agnathans were actually armoured fish but more fish evolved from these first fish. The Acanthodians, or spiny fish, had jaws unlike the Aganthans. They had a short, deep body, five fins on it s belly and of course, it has spines all over it s body. • 3. Allan Shivers Essay example Throughout Texas history, there have been a number of men and women to serve in their government that have stood out from the rest. Allan Shivers has been one of those men who have stuck out not only as a sore thumb, but even more as one of Texas greatest politicians. Even though his come down from politics was a rough road, his accomplishments more than equal out a bad reputation. From rags to riches, he is a landmark in the lone star state. Allan Shivers was born Robert Allan Shivers on October 7, 1907 in Lufkin, Texas. He grew up in an area known as the Magnolia Hills near a little town called Woodville where he attended primary school. The Woodville school systemonly went up to the eighth grade. When ... Elected in 1934, he was the youngest member ever to sit in the Senate. He held a seat in senate for twelve years, however was enlisted in the army part time between 1943 and 1945. This was only possible because being in the senate did not pay enough as a result of a biennial meeting salary base. In 1946, after inheriting a millionaire s fortune via his wife, he ran and was elected Lieutenant Governor. In the three years of being Lt. Governor, he showed the state what he could do in a position of power. He initiated a practice of appointing senators to specific committees with daily agendas subsequently jumpstarting legislation. He was able to re organize the public school system, appropriate funds for higher education, and increase funds for improving hospitals and highways among many other things. Shivers was re elected in 1948 and assumed governorship in 1949. His governor and party ally, Beauford H. Jester, had died of a fatal heart attack. As governor, he was able to accomplish more than when he was in the senate and the lieutenant governorship combined. He pushed tax increases but initiated higher teacher salaries, raised aid funds for the elderly and created councils and boards to help the efficiency of the legislation process. • 4. Synthesis Essay America By Claude Mckay The Definition of America Synthesis Essay A puzzle of 326,870,600 pieces, all different shapes, sizes, and colors. There are no guidelines, no edges to follow, and no instructions. Only the discordant and chaotic mess of 326,870,600 pieces. Why should we bother to stitch together this puzzle, imperfect as it is? Why should we allow ourselves to look further into the pieces, and change the picture? This puzzle is America; a country so large and diverse that each person is a puzzle piece, each of their ideas and beliefs the tabs and pockets that fit them together. Each tab, though individually shaped in accordance with the person, fits together in a similarly shaped pocket. The pieces, cut into odd angles with holes and strange shapes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Patriotism, that powerful word that strikes fire in the heart of even the most contentious of Americans, is the pedestal for which we place our national pride upon. J. Hector St. John Crevecoeur, a late 1700s American Exceptionalist writes in his letter What is an American?, He must necessarily feel a national sense of pride, when he views the chain of settlements which embellishes these extended shores . Not just relating to the America of 250 years ago, national pride is one of the fundamental bases of modern America as well. Despite arguments and differences, the fact that Americans can come together in unity to grieve or celebrate or support a cause seems obscure. This is a possibility because of national pride. Our love for our fellow countrymen and our ideals outweigh whatever personal agenda we are pushing. Anna Quindlen, the author of the article Quilt of a Country, writes patriotism is partly taking pride in this unlikely ability to throw all of us together in a country that across its length and breadth is as different as a dozen countries . It doesn t matter whether we are African American, Irish American, Japanese American, or Native American. If hypothetically the economy were producing only1 butter and 10 guns, it could be concludes increasing opportunity cost, because when the graph moves from A to E, it must give up larger amounts of butter to acquire equal amounts of guns. This is shown through the slope of the production possibilities curve, which gets steeper as we move from A to E (McConnell, Brue, Flynn, 2015) 4. Production outside the production possibility curve would currently be unattainable. The production that is attainable is inside of, on the shape of, or on the line of the curve. Technological changes such as production methods, could allow for attainability of production outside of the curve, as technological advancements may allow production of more guns and butter. International trade permit consumption also allows for production beyond the possibilities curve, in that the country being traded to may specialize in guns and butter. We could trade something that we produce at a very low opportunity cost, therefore making production of guns and butter cost less. (McConnell, Brue, Flynn 2015) Problem B. The IED II was published by Curriculum Associates, Inc. in 1978 2004. The test is administered individually with the age range of birth 7 years old. This test was created to monitor a child s development. Because it was not a high stakes test, there was more room for error. The IED II was translated into Spanish. Spanish tests were given to 8.6% of participants but since scores were never compared to the English version of the test, there is no confirmation of reliability or validity(Davis pg 9). Also, the Spanish version of the test is not publicly available. The purpose of the Brigance Diagnostic IED II is to determine readiness for school, track developmental progress, provide a range of scores needed for documenting eligibility for special education services, and enable a comparison of children s skills within and across developmental domains in order to view strengths and weaknesses and to determine entry points for instruction (Davis 1). It also helps in assisting with program evaluation. The subtests in the IED II include 11 areas of development. These areas include preambulatory motor skills, gross motor skills, fine motor, self help skills, speech and language skills, general knowledge /comprehension, social emotional development, readiness, basic reading skills, basic math for criterion referenced and manuscript writing (Davis pg 2). • 7. The Importance Of Traditional Liberal Arts In America, there has been many people that question the importance of including traditional liberal arts within our own education. Within this controversy, there have been many voices that have spoken up. One voice happened to be Sanford Ungar, author, and previous liberal arts president at Goucher College in Maryland. Ungar believes that Americans are steering away from the traditional liberal education. Choosing educational paths that lead them on a one way career path, and not realizing what a liberal education has to offer. Some Americans believe that liberal artshas become irrelevant in today s society, however, A 2009 survey for the Association of American Colleges and Universities actually found that more than three quarters of our nation s employers recommend that college bound students pursue a liberal education ( Ungar 228). By providing this information, Ungar urges Americans to open up their minds to the pursuit of a liberal arts education. With that being said, there were others who had different opinions. W.H Brady Scholar, political scientist, and author, Charles Murray, expresses his own thoughts. It is said that liberal education is part of Core Knowledge. Some even say that everyone residing in the United States needs to know the ins and outs of Core Knowledge. Regardless of what others say, in Murray s eyes, people have a choice. • 9. The Banking System And Global Economy Essay The US Banking System US Banking System and Global Economy Functions and Roles of US Financial Institutions Financial institutions are the intermediaries that connect savers with borrowers, providing these parties with access to the financial markets (Cecchetti, 2015, p. 64). In their role as financial intermediaries, the functions these institutions are responsible for help the US economy operate more efficiently. They reduce both transaction and information costs within the financial system by standardizing loan products and borrower screening processes. These institutions also minimize risk for savers by pooling their resources and lending the pooled funds to many borrowers. Doing so meets the needs of savers, who can access their funds when they need them, and borrowers, who can utilize borrowed funds on the terms that best meet their needs (Cecchetti, 2015, p. 66). It would be much more difficult, and expensive, to match one saver with one borrower who agreed to the exact amount and term of a loan than it is to pool resources and let a specialized institution manage the loans. For example, imagine how difficult it would be to find one individual willing to loan you $20,000 for a period of five years at a 3% annual interest rate so you could purchase a car. Finding a suitable match for your particular needs would be incredibly difficult and expensive, but financial intermediaries are able to provide this service to borrowers and savers every day at a low cost. ... • 11. The s Expulsion Of Adam And Eve From Eden Humanity as depicted by artists reflects the values of a society. Different ages have held different perspectives on humanity. These varying perspectives are displayed through the creation of each artist, writer, and composer. An era is described by what is produced in it; therefore, the ideas about humanity displayed in each piece of artwork are the same ideas that shaped a particular era. By examining components of the various pieces produced in an era, one can determine the majority view of humanity during that time and trace the shifts in society s perspective. As time has progressed, art transformed from having specific moral meaning to having purely subjective meaning. During the Renaissance, art focused on biblical scenes portraying Christian ideals. While this is nothing unusual, it is key in determining what values people in that era appreciated. The theme that begins to emerge in the early Renaissance is the psychological state of the people depicted. Masaccio s Expulsion of Adam and Eve from Eden is one of the earlier examples. The couple is clearly distraught and ashamed of their sin as they trudge out of the garden. Brunelleschi and Ghiberti also follow this idea in their works by the same name, The Sacrifice of Isaac. Both sculptors characters convey varying emotions of this sacrifice through position and expression. The need of KBE arouse due to problems in current knowledge structure, which is disorganized. Existing databases, designs, thumb rules, etc. are not maintained in order, which makes the reusability difficult. Current knowledge structure is not secure also, as the databases that are not prepared centrally are susceptible to changes by other designers and loose reliability. Capturing knowledge is essential, but capturing the knowledge that is not necessary would lead to confusion and decrease effective reusability. KBE systems solve all the problems which are indicated above. KBE allows designers to devote more time and effort in creative and the innovative work and makes design process simpler. KBE system automatically extracts the given necessary knowledge from every stage of design cycle, and makes this knowledge available for remaining design cycles. KBE system allows capturing and organization of knowledge in an efficient manner. Importance Of Formative Assessment 3.1Discussion To understand better the achievements of this research we find it important to refresh our mind with what we know about formative assessment and summative assessment. Gipps (1994) defines formative assessment as the assessment that boosts the use of assessing feedback to advance teaching and learning while encouraging curriculum planning. As for summative assessment, Earl, L. (2004), defines it as the assessment which is frequently used to give grades and marks to learners for academic and administrative decisions . 3.1.1 From Assumption 1 to 3: To come back to the achievements of this research, hypothesis 1 revealed that the trainers under study do assess their learners in order to identify what they have learnt, ... Certainly, it was not wrong to use the information deriving from the current training for further improvements, but improvements, if any, should start with the present participants. Indeed, we did not find it too professional to ignore the present learners by failing to give them a feedback on their learning, but rather using their feedback for the benefit of future learners. Black, P. What was hidden behind this non exploitation of formative assessment? Was it not a mark of ignorance in the use of formative assessment? The definition of bubbles and how they affect investment This section will focus on the analysis about how bubbles affect investors behaviors. Since bubbles are closely connected with crises, doing research on investors behaviors about overvalued assets can help economists to understand crises fundamental. Therefore it is good for governments to take actions to prevent these crises. The first part of this section will describe the definition of bubbles in detail, and the second part will illustrate relevant empirical evidences to further explain how bubbles affect investing behaviors. 2.1 Theoretical research C. Kindleberger (1978) first defined bubbles as a continuously increasing process of assets price. This phenomenon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally he found investors behaviors in terms of the overvalued assets played an important role in this process. Joesph E. Stiglitz (1990) agreed with the theory above, and suggested that if investors thought assets could be sold over their expectation, they would do more investment, and then assets actual price would increase, which also means the bubbles would appearance. He thought it is important to prove the existence of bubbles, since they can implicate the future decrease of assets price. Therefore governments could take actions to control investors behaviors and avoid crises. But by taking the 1960s crisis as an example, he found bubbles existence was difficult to test. It is because bubbles would not exist only if the assets discount rate increased equal to the assets price, which means the assets value would be equal to the discount value. But this equilibrium is not expectable. Then Stiglitz proposed that the markets might have multiple equilibriums, so he collected many economists thoughts about this opinion. But he found models of different economists were developed in terms of different methods, so they cannot reach an agreement. But he suggested that it is still important for economists to analyze this problem in further studies. Basing on the research of other economists, Robert S. Chirinko and Huntley Schaller finally built a widely accepted model, Q equation, to test bubbles existence. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Commonly referred to as the queen who understood the people, Victoria spent her entire childhood preparing to take the throne of England. In fact, the future Empress of India didn t have much of a childhood. She was allowed very little freedom in her early life, which caused her to ban her mother from court upon her coronation (Turner). Victoria evidently liked to be in control of things and certainly used this to make her mark on history. As the longest reigning monarch at the time, Victoria had 60 years to influence England (All Empires). Queen Victoria impacted history and the 19th Century in many ways, through culture, politics and morality. Queen Victoria is perhaps most famous for popularizing the white wedding dress (Woodham Smith). At the time, women were married in dresses of almost any color. However, when pictures of the queen in a beautiful white dress circulated, women began to imitate her example, just as they imitated her hairstyle on the postage (Queen Victoria Penny Black Single). After it became evident that Victoria and her new husband Albert were truly in love the white wedding dress became a romantic symbol of true love. Indeed, Victoria was so in love with her husband that she became quite useless for many years after his death. Her approach to marriage was so different from most royals that it caused people to take notice. Instead of having many different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The idea of not controlling one s thoughts, but redirecting them to the present moment is a fairly hard concept for most people to fully understand. Redirecting one s thoughts to the present moment distracts the mind from any worry some or anxiety inducing thoughts or feelings, without giving attention to them. The redirection of thoughts essentially keeps the mind occupied, which means the mind has less time to spend worrying or cultivating anxiety inducing scenarios in one s mind. In relation to the redirection of thoughts being effective in reducing anxiety, it also has been proven to reduce physical symptoms of anxiety or discomfort. By reverting attention away from pre existing physical discomforts, these same discomforts are given time to subside, which they typically do immensely, solely because it isn t the focus of one s attention. This measure is based on the theory that children in single parent homes are at greater risk than those in two parent families and the best solution is marriage. In short, the federal government is rewarding states for encouraging marriage, a very personal decision. How do states measure the results of having more couples getting married? Over the past five years, the federal government has also found it difficult to measure improvement in states.
