Fatalism In The Radical Durkheim And C. W. Mills
This is evident in Frank Pearce s chapter Fatalism in The Radical Durkheim and C. W. Mills chapter
The Promise in The Sociological Imagination as both men place great emphasis on the fact that our
awareness of our everyday lives affect how we behave and react to daily stressors. However, Pearce s
Durkheimianism exceeds what Mill s calls the sociological imagination by demonstrating that all
walks of life suffer no matter their employment or social ranking, but in very different ways.
Additionally, Pearce s explanation on fatalism furthers this point by insisting that our personal
experiences are predetermined due to the greater society in which we live in; thus, the outcome
becomes unavoidable (Pearce 2013:126). For this reason, I contend

Patriots Vs Loyalists Analysis
As a slave I would not want to be a part of the Patriots or the Loyalists, because no matter who I
choose both group of people will see me as a slave and not as a person. After being punished for
something that she did not do, Isabel went to fetch some water, and encounter some slaves that were
arguing about the war. The slaves fought between them and tried to convince themselves and the
others which side should they choose the Patriots or the Loyalists. However, an old man said British
or American, that is not the choice. You must choose your own side, find your road through the valley
of darkness that will lead you to the river Jordan (167). I agree with this quote because, that both
Patriots and Loyalists owen slaves and treated them

Case Study #3
Case 13 2: Scotch Whisky in China: A Taste of the Good Life
1. Why are Diageo, Pernod Ricard, and other marketers of global spirits brands localizing advertising
campaigns in emerging markets?
Diageo, Ricard, and other marketers of global spirits brands are localizing their advertising campaigns
in emerging markets because no two countries or their inhabitants are alike. Every country has a
diverse set of consumers that have specific tastes and preferences based on geographical location,
religion, age, religion, sex, education, and social and economic class as well as consumer perceptions
which global brands, specifically global spirits brands, should pay close attention when ... Show more

He goes on to describe the different segments which include the guanxi men, who are status driven
men ages 35 to 45 whose consumption occurs during networking as they spend the majority of their
time setting up business deals (Keegan Green, 2011). Another group for Diageo s China market
segmentation and consumption category is women; list the same age bracket as the guanxi men, who
are strong and independent (Keegan Green, 2011). As stated in previous text, as emerging markets
GDP continue to increase in emerging markets so too will the aspirational classes and the thirst for
Scotch. This and the relaxation of legal issues as the world evolves will control and ultimately
increase the consumption habits of Scotch whiskey consumers globally.
3. Why are some spirits products and brands strictly local, while some have global potential?
The choice to remain strictly local or explore their potential in the global market is determined by
several factors within the brand itself. This all based on the resources the brand has that will or will
not allow them to expand globally given the opportunity. This also includes the brands ability to
understand and respond to their target culture in their product design and advertising. There are
numerous local spirits brands in emerging markets that produce spirits specific to their culture. This
will hinder then if ever they decide to expand in the global

Who Is Cesar Chavez A Hero
Cesar Chavez was born on March 31, 1927 on a small farm in Yuma, Arizona. Cesar Chavez had eight
kids with his only life. His parents were immigrants from Mexico and they worked in the fields and
would come home very tired and exhausted every day and they would work really hard for very little
pay. Cesar Chavez was a hero because he helped immigrants have a better working conditions in the
fields and better pay to help them have a better life. Cesar Chavez wasn t scared to stand up for what
was right and for what he believed in. When he thought something should be changed he would
boycott and start strikes go fix what was wrong. Many people didn t like him and they would tell him
hurtful things but he never stopped believing in what was right. He changed the ways of immigrant
farm workers and helped them have a better life many people would go to his house and thank him
everyday. My hero wanted latinos to have better working conditions in the field and he also wanted
them to have better by getting better pay. He wanted them to have better supplies for working and they
started a boycott so that workers could get a raise at their work. Whenever he would start a boycott or
strike he would do it a way where there was no violence. Many immigrants would call Cesar Chavez

Essay on Population Ecology vs. Neoinstitutional Theory
Organization environment relations depict certain areas of UCSB in their entirety in which two of
those theories include population ecology and neoinstitutional theory. Population ecology and
neoinstitutional theory looks at UCSB in divergent perspectives: population ecology looks at UCSB as
a living or dying species whereas neoinstitutional theory highlights UCSB s importance as an
establishment to its field of education. With this, I am going to compare both, population ecology and
neoinstitutional theory, in relation to the University of California Santa Barbara. I will further discuss
each of their strengths and weaknesses in accordance to the behavior and environment of institution,

Yang and among other administrative staff at UCSB employ population ecology to aid the growth of
the school while ensuring the best experience possible for past, current, and future students. For
UCSB to survive its environment within the educational field, it is important to refer UCSB as either a
growing or dying species. Many establishments face external and internal pressures dictating the fate
of their organizational future. UCSB among other universities and colleges altogether face one
external pressure that can lead to a dying organization which is fiscal uncertainty. Monetary barriers
against UCSB hinder the organization because they are given limits renouncing their power and
legitimacy (Hannan 932). The UC system is facing a financial crisis in which UCSB is not the only
school suffering. All students and faculty are evaluating the future of UCSB because the incessant

Affordability group, at the UC Commission of the Future, evaluates the current financial dilemma and
tries to find accessible alternatives for students and faculty (Commission of the Future).
However, there are pressures that contribute to a growing species such as the internal pressure of
upholding their reputation. Organizations face certain standards and procedures and to change those

Ivan Denisovich Shukhov By Alexander Solzhenitsyn
Viktor E. Frankl, an Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist who also had survived the Holocaust, writes
When we are no longer able to change a situation we are challenged to change ourselves
(BrainyQuote). Frankl survived genocide against his own people and still chose to have a positive
outlook on it because he understands that if he did not, he would continually live an unhappy, upset
life. Like Frankl, Ivan Denisovich Shukhov, the main character in One Day In The Life of Ivan
Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, contains a similar outlook to that of Frankl. The novel takes
place during Soviet Russia in a gulag in Siberia, or otherwise known as a labor work camp. The whole
book is about only one day that Shukhov lives; from 5 in the morning to 10 at night and all that
happens in between. In this labor camp, not only are the weather conditions very cold, making it
difficult to work in such circumstances, but also the workers are punished and harshly treated if they
do not obey the guards. When placed in this environment, it is easy to be discouraged and miserable,
but instead of facing the negatives of his situation, Shukhov remains affirmative in his thoughts which
are most important in order to survive not only physically, but also mentally. This stoicism portrayed
in the narrative can also be found in Epictetus s work, The Handbook. In this text, Epictetus discusses
how he believes people can live a happy life, despite the hard conditions they are put through

Harry Truman s Life And Accomplishments
Harry Truman was born in Lamar Missouri on May 8 1884 to Mattie and John Anderson Truman.
Harry Truman s mother and father were unable to decide on his middle name: the two names
considered where first name of Mattie s father, Solomon, and the first name of John s father, Shipp.
Following a practice not uncommon among those of Scotch Irish ancestry, Mattie and John Truman
gave their son the one letter middle name of S . Harry s early years were spent on Mattie s father s
farm, and Grandpa Young adored the boy. No doubt Grandpa Young s fondness of the child
contributed to the contentment he enjoyed during his boyhood, the carefree circumstances that led
Truman in his later years to become fond of saying he had the happiest childhood imaginable. ... Show

Jimmy s father was James Pendergast, known as Alderman Jim, the founder of the Pendergast dynasty

Truman won the 1922 election, but lost in his 1924 re election bid. The county courthouse was home

My First Grade Classroom At Tatnuck Magnet Elementary School
I spent five hours observing a classroom but it felt like spending time in a new world. I observed a
first grade classroom at Tatnuck Magnet Elementary School in Worcester, Massachusetts. This was my
first opportunity to watch and comprehend a classroom environment with a teacher s mindset. It was
an eye opening experience, I was beginning to see the classroom in components: teaching methods,
lesson plans, philosophies, and common core requirements. Listening for how to give directions rather
than follow them is just one example of my changed focus while in the classroom. Due to my
schedule, I observed the first grade class on three separate days during the morning to afternoon part
of the school day. There were roughly fifteen students, a diverse group which included various
ethnicities and personalities. I feel that I was lucky in being assigned this class because it was
extremely dynamic and I got to witness many activities and strategies in a couple hours. Throughout
this observation report I will most likely quote phrases the teacher said as I found them to be key tools
when dealing with a situation. For the purpose of maintaining confidentiality in this report, I will
change the teacher s name to Ms. Mallard and also create names for any students mentioned hereafter.
Firstly, the actual classroom setting was filled with materials and vibrantly colored. One wall was
made up of windows with shelving space all along the lower half. The windows let in wonderful

After wave upon wave of revolutionary struggle, the attainment of national independence came to us
as a slow yet heroic progress. The establishment of the Polisario Front, conscious of the Third World
liberation opportunity, organized itself under Sahrawi nationalism and the determination to overthrow
Spanish rule and attain full independence of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic. The Front
resisted Spanish rule by sabotage and noncooperation campaigns, and founded schools across the
region to promote Sahrawi nationalism. The revolution of 1940, led by the Polisario front, sought
independence from Spanish colonialism by guerilla warfare tactics. Thousands of protesters marched
on the streets hoping to end Spanish colonial rule. A National Congress had been established to
negotiate independence from Spain. The Spanish rule finally began to unravel following the trend of
decolonization, setting the Western Sahara free from Spain culminating in its formal promise for a
referendum on peace and importantly, independence and withdrawal in 1940 following agreements
such as the Madrid Accords made between Morocco, Mauritania, and

Wave Surfing Research Paper
He enalu
The term He enalu translates to wave sliding. He e is the change from solid to liquid and Nalu refers to
the surfing motion of the wave. Surfing first originated in Western Polynesia over three thousand years
ago. In the beginning surfing was not an activity, but an easy way of getting around in the water. The
first surfers were fisherman who discovered riding waves as an efficient method of getting to shore
with their catch. It then transformed from becoming an everyday work method to something to do to
pass time. Surfing has come a long way, evolving from its origins into what it is now.
The first historical records of surfing were in the late 1700 s. The first sighting was at Kealakekua

The first Polynesian settlers were skilled in simple surfing. The Hawaiians embraced surfing so much
that by 1779, riding waves lying down or standing on long, hardwood surfboards was an integral part
of Hawaiian culture ( Surfer 2). After a few hundred years of riding the waves of Hawaii, the well
known Hawaiian form of the sport emerged. It wasn t as nonchalant as it is today. Back then in the

it was a chance to show off. The chiefs could demonstrate their skill and comonomers would be given

Failures Of Indira Gandhi
Week Ten: This weeks analysis on Indira Gandhi helped me unpack her successes and failures. Some
of the major failures that my group talked about was the forced sterilization, state of emergency,
religious divide, censorship and corruption. The mass forced sterilization was ultimate failure in my
eyes and as I talked about prior a major human rights violation. Interestingly, Indira Gandhi had no
gender policy during her reign. One would think that a women politician would want to address so
many of the problems that plague women on a daily basis. If I was a women in India during the time
where Indira Gandhi came to power, I would have been devastated that she was not interested in
improving women s rights. Indira also reinforced the religious divide within India, especially for the
Sikhs. She ended up exacerbating tensions in the region, which ultimately lead to her demise.
While she did have a lot of failures, this weeks class helped bring to light some of her successes as
well. Prior to this class I only really thought of her failures and even during class my group had a hard
time coming up with anything. I think her lack of credentials and her short sidedness made her ill
prepared to be a ruler. Throughout this class I began to admire Nehru and his leadership of India;
however, with Indira I felt myself being angry and disappointed with her ruling style.

Narrative Discourse Performance Analysis
The current study aims to evaluate the differences in the narrative discourse performance in elderly
individuals with acquired cognitive disorders and narrative performance on different narrative types.
Previous studies evaluated individuals with an acquired cognitive disorder, but no previous research
could be found that compared the narrative performance of individuals with different types of
cognitive disorders. Also, little research exists on the narrative discourse performance in individuals
with cognitive disorders on different narrative types. However, the literature indicates that individuals
with cognitive disorders, such as stoke, TBI, or Alzheimer s disease, have deficits in narrative
production when compared to normally aging individuals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narratives were evaluated on 3 main categories of cohesive ties: reference, or words that refer to a
person or an object mentioned earlier, comparatives, or words that compare two or more people or
objects, lexical cohesion, and conjunctions, or words that create a causal or sequential relation
between two sentences or ideas (Langer Smith Burke, 1982). Only cohesive ties in which the referent
of the tie is easily identified. Ambiguous or erroneous cohesive ties were not counted as a complete
cohesive tie. The total number of cohesive ties was totaled for each narrative.
Narrative Relevance Narrative relevance was determined by evaluating the importance of each T Unit
in developing the narrative. A 3 point rating system was used to determine the relevance of each
statement. An utterance was given a 1 rating if the utterance was relevant and necessary to the story
development. A 2 rating was given if the utterance was related to the story and did not help or hinder
the development of the story. Finally, a rating of 3 was given to the utterances that were irrelevant to
the story and hindered the development of the story. The occurrence of each rating was totaled for
each narrative.

Visual Judgments
TECHNOLOGIES OF RACIAL PROFILING: DIGITAL DISCRETION OF RACE Browne (2010)
situates her argument of the racialization of surveillance by focusing on how surveillance technologies
place emphasis on classification of the visual aspects of one s identity. She draws heavily from Paul
Gilroy s (2000) concept of Epidermal thinking a concept referring to the modern discourse of visual
judgements and how they can racialize practices in society. The concept of otherness is important to
epidermal thinking, as prototypical whiteness and the Other are examples of how skin is categorized
through visual judgements. Such visual judgements translate to surveillance in terms of controlling the
freedom and mobility of individuals by means of profiling those with bodies that deem them out of
place (Browne 2010). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They justify this point through their explanation of how Mobile Data Terminals (MDT) influence
officer s discretion in profiling (ibid 2006). These terminals allow police officers portable access to
extensive police records of individuals they investigate, eliminating the need to call a dispatcher for
this information (ibid). This allows for police activity to be concealed from coworkers and
supervisors, and for increased use and access to police records (ibid). Foucault (1979) notes in his
book Discipline and Punishment that surveillance works best when it is unseen a significant element
in his explanation of the efficacy of panopticism. Meehan and Ponder (2006) contend that the practice
of checking police records through MDT is highly influenced by race. This reflects Marx s (1988)

Robin Hood Outlaw
In mid 14th century Nottingham, under the rule of King Edward II, an outlaw named Robin Hood
emerged from Sherwood Forest with his entourage of outlaws he claimed his Merry Men. Robin Hood
and his Merry Men have gone down in history as the band of outlaws whom were said to have stolen
from the rich and given to the poor, not to mention ridding Nottingham of the malicious Sheriff. Many
historians have been questioning the amount of truth behind the story of Robin Hood and his Merry
Men that has been passed down from generation to generation for centuries, but no one knows for sure
what really happened. There are many theories referring to Robin Hood s existence, but one in
particular seems more plausible than the rest that the story of Robin Hood is the story of not just one
man and his entourage, but a collection of admirable people who helped change society for the greater
good.
Robin Hood was believed to be a heroic outlaw in the mid 14th century, who stole from the rich and
gave to the poor. But who s to say that Robin Hood was the only one who did this? What if Robin
Hood s figure was a summary of what the majority of outlaws of this time used to do and what gave
them their outlaw title? Robin Hood may indeed have been an outlaw, and in the eyes of the poor
people of Nottingham, a hero, but people aren t always what they first appear. Robin Hood and his
Merry Men may have been some of the first people to using lending schemes for their own personal

Essay about Jefferson vs. Hamilton on Views of Government
Whose side would you have been on in the 1790s, Thomas Jefferson s or Alexander Hamilton s? Both
of these men served under George Washington in the first presidential cabinet, yet they had very
different views of what government should be (Davis 86). My objective in this research essay is to
inform the reader of why there was so much controversy between these two founding fathers, and to
determine which side had the better views for our newly forming country. After Washington became
president, people started forming political parties based on how they thought the government should
be run. Washington did not like the idea of the country being divided into factions, as he called them.

Hamilton was a Federalist who believed in a strong, central government with a national bank. He also
wanted to make alliances with Britain (Davis 86). Of course, as history can tell us, Jefferson, an
Antifederalist, or a Republican as they called them back then, favored little federal government
control and more say for the small farmers and states (Davis 86 7). He believed that all Americans
should be educated enough to read and understand the issues that were being voted on so that they
could choose their own leaders and run for office themselves. In fact, he proposed a bill, which would
guarantee some public education for all children, excluding slaves. He felt that this would allow
people to have an opportunity to better themselves based on talent and virtue instead of wealth and
birth. Even though his bill was voted on three times, it didn t pass due to the fact that the majority of
the Virginia Assembly thought that it was too radical, too expensive, and too unnecessary (Davis 52
3). Antifederalists were also anti British, but friendly to France, their ally at the time (Davis 87). I

From 1500 1700, there were multiple European monarchs that were beneficial to their country, but
there were also many other monarchs that were detrimental to their country. During this time period,
certain European countries also had their own governmental issues, whereas other countries were
thriving. Throughout the 1600 s, numerous European leaders were fighting internal and external wars,
having social and economic problems, and losing faith in their people. On the other hand, some
leaders were also providing support for their people and creating a strong government. There are
several European monarchs who were beneficial and detrimental, but five key people control the
discussion. King James I of England, Peter I of Russia, Louis XIV of France, Pierre Patel, and Queen
Elizabeth I of England are all royals who had a substantial influence over their countries.

During the 1690 s, France was experiencing social and economic problems, and Louis XIV was the
cause of them. In 1694, an anonymous source reported that Louis XIV had consumed half the wealth
and vitality of France on costly wars, and now France was a vast hospital, desolate and without
provisions (Document H). From the author s perspective as a French citizen, the conditions in France
were deplorable and most of it was Louis XIV s fault. The author s background as an anonymous
citizen allowed them to tell the honest truth because they wanted to inform their monarch of the
conditions in their country. In 1694, an anonymous source informed Louis XIV that the cultivation of
the earth in France is almost abandoned, the towns and the countryside are depopulated; all the
industry languishes and no longer supports the workers. (Document H). Overall, the author was trying

17th Century Native American Relations Research Paper
Aron McCusker APUSH Period 8 Summer Essay 1 17th Century European Relations with Native
Americans During the 17th Century, Europeans flocked to the Americas in search of new lives and
opportunities. Upon development of their new colonies, the discovery of native inhabitants posed
questions for both parties on how to coexist. At first, most European colonies and their surrounding
native population worked together, but as time passed, a growing insensitivity towards each other led
to controversy. In most cases, socially, colonies in the Americas tolerated Native Americans, but
ignored or resented their customs and traditions. In the Chesapeake Bay region, colonists initially

In the Chesapeake Bay area, colonists learned tobacco farming from natives, subsequently seizing
much of their land for the production of tobacco. However, they shared knowledge of metal tools and
weapons brought from Europe with the Indians. New England colonists similarly seized much of the
surrounding Indian lands for lumber, but in return shared a wealth of knowledge of European
technology with their neighboring tribes. Spanish Southwestern colonists simply enforced labor rules
on neighboring natives, enslaving them for building and selling. Natives in New York and New France
profited the most, as battles between the English and other European powers over the fur trade left
Indians very wealthy. Moreover, they also gained an understanding of European

A Research Study On Autism Spectrum Disorder ( Asd )
According to Purdue Owl, a research paper is defined as the culmination and final product of an
involved process of research, critical thinking, source evaluation, organization, and composition. The
preliminary and most important step of writing a research paper is, unsurprisingly, the research itself
as it provides the writer the essential information to create the paper. In the past, collecting
information required hours of pulling information from journals and books that had to be first
evaluated for credibility based on the author or organization that published the source. However, the
emergence of the Internet now allows users to easily obtain information from multiple resources at a

Police Scene Investigation And Reconstruction
General Identifying Statement
Crime scene investigation and reconstruction are both central aspects in the study of policing. By
definition, a crime scene is a scene or place where an offence has been committed, and the site where
forensic evidence is to be gathered in the pursuit of investigating the offence (Fisher, 2012, p.10).
Fisher goes on to clarify that a crime scene may refer to a physical place that may provide potential
evidence to an investigator. This is not limited to a location but rather may include a include a person s
body, any type of building, vehicles, places in the open air or objects found at those locations. Fisher
elaborates; explaining how hoth forensic and scientific techniques are used in order to preserve and
obtain evidence of crime at the crime scene. (Fisher, 2012, p. 13).
Lee and Palmbach (2001) point out that the processes involved in examining a crime scene does not
need to be sophisticated or elaborate; instead, investigators need to concern themselves with adhering
to the fundamental principles and procedures within crime scene investigation. It is important to
remember that there is not a comprehensive plan or sole guiding principle when it comes to processing
crime scenes (Pepper, 2010, p. 101). This being the case, exploring different protocols and methods
that assist in forming a logical plan towards crime scene investigation is crucial in policing.

Explain Why I Want To Be An Obstetrician
Have you thought about your career in the future? Most people in my school know what they want
their career for them to be. For example, my cousin who is now a senior, decided that he wanted to go
to the military, like many other young men. Even I, a twelve year old girl, knows and planned what
she wants to do in the future. I will try really hard to become obstetrician, a type a doctor who delivers
babies. The reason for my choice is because of many things about them except the money. That is why
I always try really hard in school and it pays off. I chose my career, now it is your turn.
One of the reasons I want to be an obstetrician is because I, as any other person, admire there work. I
do not care how much money I will get paid because the only reason I want to be an obstetrician is
because I have always admired them because they are the people who help bring new life into our
world. They also delivered me, and my whole family so I should be thankful for that. If it was not for
them I would not have been on this world and neither would other people and that would not be a
happy world. I also admire them because at any time, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that cannot imagine how I will feel when I complete my career in the future. I will be satisfied with
the care I give my patients because I as a doctor worked really hard just to deliver a little human being

Citizens develop this law to satisfy their wants and fears as individuals in the society as citizens live

Strengths
Concept uniqueness Concept based restaurants rely on décor and novelty themes, which are appealing
enough to the customers to draw in business. For example: Hard Rock Café, Applebee s, Rolling Rock
Café, or Outback Steakhouse. The Victoria Station utilized the English depot paraphernalia to support
the theme; gas lights, a red English telephone booth, and a London taxi.

so due to mothers working; now dining out and take away has far proceeded home cooking.
Children s menu They left out a very large and important segment, children. If they intended to have a
family restaurant they should have a well developed kid s menu.
Threats
Competition They did not take in account the growth of other featured restaurants targeting the same
economic theme, such as Red Lobster and Quinn s Lighthouse.
Raising beef prices In the Fiscal year 1981 Victoria Station lost more than 6.3 million, one primary
reason was due to the continued rise in beef prices, which raised food cost to 50% (Martin)
Economic and weather decline 1982, the meal count declined 8.4% compared to the previous year.

Songs Draw Strength, Courage, and Wisdom from Poems
There are many times when song lyrics draw inspiration from poems. In many situations song writers
get ideas for music through poems seeing as most are written on life experiences or events. It is
evident that the poem, The Ballad of Birmingham written by Dudley Randall and the song Strength,
Courage, and Wisdom written by India Arie have numerous similarities. These two works are about
people who exemplify strength, courage, and wisdom. Even though both of these works were created
in different time periods, they still convey the same meaning. The characteristic of strength is found
during the course of these two works of poetry. In stanza one of The Ballad of Birmingham , Mother
dear, may I go downtown Instead of out to play, And march the streets of Birmingham In a Freedom
March today ( 1 4 Randall)? An African American child is pleading to her mother to allow her to
march for the rights of all African American citizens. This statement alone, coming from a young
child, is a powerful statement of inner strength. We also see the similar statement within the first
stanza of a song by India Aria which states, It s time to step out on faith, I ve gotta show my face It s
been elusive for so long, but freedom is mine today ( A Z Lyrics ). Even without entirely saying it, the
lyrics of the song and the words of the poem both refer to having enough strength to stand up for their
freedom. In the overview of each poem they also point out the characteristic of courage.

Bruce Tuckman Is The Theorist Who Designed The ‘Forming
Bruce Tuckman is the theorist who designed the Forming Storming Norming Performing theory in
1965. He added a fifth stage, adjourning, in the 1970s. This theory is based and focused on team
development and behaviour, and the stages and changes the team makes as they mature and grow. It
emphases that relationships will establish, and the leader changes their leadership style as the team
progresses. This development of team behaviour and management style can be seen plainly in the
Tannenbaum and Schmidt Continuum, how the authority and freedom extended by the leader to the
team grows while the control of the leader decreases.
There is a specific order within his theory, staring from beginning to end. The order would be forming,

This basically means that team members are wanting and looking for a new position. They do this as
they attempt to establish themselves within the team, letting them be known and try and make
relationships between themselves and the other members, or the leader. Little groups within the team
will begin to form, and therefore causing a power struggle to take place. In this stage the leader will
try and make sure that the team knows that they need to be focused on their goals, to avoid becoming
distracted by relationships and other emotional issues they may have. Compromises and changes may
be required to enable progress, so everything is fair and safe within the team.
The third stage is norming, which means that agreement and accord largely forms among the team and
its members. The disagreements that happen in the first two stages have decreased, and roles within
the team have been firmly established. Also, the aims and objectives set by the leader are done without
disagreement. Big decisions are made by group agreement. Smaller decisions may be given to
individuals or small teams within group. Commitment and harmony within the team is strong,
meaning they are working well together. The team may engage in fun and social activities, and
therefore forming better relationships between people. This would only improve the way they

Chemical-Induced Toxicity
Chemical induced organ and tissue toxicity is a worldwide health concern. Liver toxicity, because of
the primary role of the liver in the metabolism, detoxification, and elimination of xenobiotics, caused
by the exposure to the growing number of chemical toxicants in the form of agricultural, industrial,
and pharmaceutical products and food components, additives, and contaminants is the most common
organ injury [1 3]. Toxicant associated liver injury has been associated with a broad spectrum of liver
pathologies ranging from acute necrosis to several types of chronic pathological states, including
simple hepatic steatosis, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), toxic liver fibrosis, and cirrhosis [1,3].
Furthermore, some toxicants may act as carcinogens causing the development of cancer not only in
the liver, but in other human organs and tissues as well [4,5]. This indicates that detecting, evaluating,
and predicting the potential human risk posed by chemicals continues to remain of great importance.

It differs from client server downloads (the standard save as protocol you see in web browsers, for
instance) in that it does not access a server and download a file that is directly stored on that server. It
differs from other peer to peer (distributed) protocols, such as the original iteration of Napster or the
newer Kazaa, by using a truly distributed means of finding the trackers.
Trackers report on who has what of a particular torrent s information and may actively maintain
torrents health. The actual torrents are small files that tell the client where to find the actual files.
People who have the actual files and are willing to allow you to download from them are called seeds.
Seeds help the growth of the torrent by spreading its information to people who are downloading it,
called leechers. Everyone beginning to download a torrent is initially a leecher. Some trackers may cut
your download off if you never seed while continuing to leech. It all sounds complicated but is behind
the scenes and very seamless, as you ll see.
An Overview of Clients To get started with torrenting, a term that s come to be used commonly and
summarizes the act of downloading and using torrents, you need a client. Clients allow the tracker
information to be processed onto your computer and generally smooth the experience by automating
many processes and managing your downloads.

How Did Catholics Pose A Significant Threat In England
There is much historical debate as to whether Catholics posed a significant threat in England. Duffy
has found through the study of wills that Catholic views were still seen in a large section of the
population. However, Doran suggests that long and relentless government persecutions forced many
Catholics from their faith. This would indicate that there is uncertainty as to the Catholic threat
domestically and Murphy would certainly argue that due to the increasingly hostile situation in Europe
that the bigger Catholic threat came from abroad. When the Elizabethan Church Settlement was
created Elizabeth attempted to return religious policy to the way it had been at the end of Henry VIII s
reign; there is also an indication the settlement was driven by a need for political expediency.
Elizabeth herself is seen by historians such as C Haigh as a sincere and committed protestant due to
her upbringing; however, she recognised that a large population of England was still Catholic ... Show

of the Spanish Armada, which Philip of Spain viewed as a crusade and thought would lead to a full

argue that this was because there was no appetite from English Catholics for an invasion from abroad.
Also, many Catholics saw Elizabeth as the rightful Queen and many of these plots were regarded with

Physicalist Dualism
The mind is a nonphysical thing and the body is a physical thing. The mind body problem says that
nonphysical things cannot interact casually with physical things, but states that the mind and body
interact casually. There are three theories that have different ways of explaining how the mind and
body do interact casually. Dualism is the theory that the mind and body are sperate things and they can
interact casually. This theory says that nonphysical things can interact with physical things.
Physicalism is the theory that humans can be adequately explained by physical or material
components. This theory says that the mind is a physical thing instead of nonphysical. Functionalism
is the theory that the mind is categorized by patterns of input processing output. This theory rejects the
mind body problem. It says that the mind is like a computer, there is an input of information or
experiences, the information is processed, and then you have an output of a response. Out of these
three theories, Physicalism makes the most sense. Physicalism says that the mind is a physical thing,

the problem has only exacerbated in current years, continuing a trend that has insidiously been

What Does Arnold Shwarzenegger Mean
This is a man of bottomless ambition said George Butler, a very decorated film biographer. Arnold
Schwarzenegger is one of the hardest working American icons I have ever read about. Arnold
overcame adversity in many ways to become one of the most know people in America and all over the
world. He started with nothing except his mother as his only positive motivation in his early years.
Arnold wasn t going to stop until he was the best at everything he wanted to be. Acting was his big
ticket to fame. What really help him though in his other aspects of life was his bodybuilding. For me
life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but move
ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer these are words Arnold said himself and lived by. He was
going to be the best he could be if it killed him trying. Arnold s early years are what I think gives him
his rights to be a True American Icon. He did not have much as kid. He was the younger of two kids
and his dad would regularly beat him because he was the least athletic of the two. The brothers would
fight all the time, the only relationship he had with his family was his mother who taught him how to
be the best he could be. She gave him the discipline to be the he needed to be a bodybuilder. His father

Eukaryotic Chemotaxis Lab Report
Delving into the Process of Eukaryotic Chemotaxis The mechanism in which cells move either
towards, or away from a stimulus is referred to as chemotaxis (1). Chemotaxis is initiated in
eukaryotic cells when the cells first sense an external chemotactic gradient (2). The presence of this
gradient is sensed by a class of receptors, called 7 transmembrane heterotrimeric G protein coupled
receptors (GPCRs) (2). As the name implies, these proteins are located in the plasma membrane of
eukaryotic cells. This external gradient triggers an intracellular Phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5)

(14). However, if the cells are exposed to a gradient of chemoattractant or chemorepellent, their
motility is biased toward or away from higher concentrations of that stimulus (14). When
Dictyostelium are exposed to various cAMP concentrations, more pseudopodia are formed and are
extended towards the areas of high cAMP concentrations (14). This process is mirrored by
neutrophils, which extend pseudopodia rhythmically towards positive chemotactic stimuli

Examples Of Modernism In Lolita
Modernism is a literary movement that was born in the 20th century in order to find new forms of
writing and create something entirely different that the world has seen before.
Modernists proclaimed about a complete separation from realistic traditions that took place in the 19th
century and decided to put an emphasis on Impressionism, Perspectivism and Subjectivity in their
literary works. The main idea of Modernism is that emphasis was put on how we see rather what we
perceive. Our own understanding and perception of event is even more important than an event of
itself. The Modernists present the inner world of hero in the first place. How the consciousness and the
subconsciousness are interacting, and how our actions and decisions are made ... Show more content

She was only the dead leaf echo of the nymphet from long ago but I loved her, this Lolita, pale and
polluted and big with another man s child. She could fade and wither I didn t care. I would still go
mad with tenderness at the mere sight of her face. .At the end, I do not think he could separate two
persons in his mind real one Dolores and imagined one Lolita. Certainly, the image of Lolita , that
Humbert had in his mind since the death of his adolescent love Annabella, had affected on his
perception of Dolores. But the words: She was only the dead leaf echo of the nymphet from long ago
but I loved her make me question the nature of his obsession towards her. She was 17 and pregnant;
common pedophile would probably lost the interest in her, but Humbert did not, he still loved her, and
this makes the reader question Humbert s love toward little

The House On Mango Street Identity Analysis
The House On Mango Street, written by Sandra Cisneros, tells the story of a poor Latina teenager
named Esperanza growing up in America. Esperanza, the main character, is a kind and helpful girl.
Many factors, like her moving around often and not liking her name, contribute to Esperanza s
identity. However, growing up in a poor Chicago neighborhood contribute most to Esperanza s
identity. The biggest factor that shaped Esperanza s identity is the environment in which she grows up
in. Growing up in her neighborhood thought Esperanza that sometimes the world s judgement is
unfair. Those who don t know any better come into our neighborhood scared. They think we are
dangerous. They think we will attack them with shiny knives. They are stupid people ... Show more

In her neighborhood there is a junk store where the shopkeeper will only turn the lights if you have the
money to buy something. When she wanted to experience eating in the lunchroom, the lunch lady was
so unpleasant to her that she cried. One day I ll own my own house, but I won t forget who I am or
where I came from. Passing bums will ask, Can I come in? I ll offer them the attic, ask them to stay,
because I know how it is to be without a house (87). This shows that Esperanza will be kind to those
below her unlike the shopkeeper and the lunch lady. This makes her a kind hearted human being and
that is part of who she is. Growing up in a poor Chicago neighborhood shaped Esperanza to be a kind,
compassionate person who knows her worth and doesn t judge people by sight. Some may argue that
moving around often is a more important aspect of Esperanza s identity than growing up in the
neighborhood that she did. They may assert that because moving around a lot caused her to become a
self reliant person. Esperanza did not form many connections with people her own age. However,
growing up in her neighborhood caused her to mature as a human and give her the characteristic that
make her who she is. As you can see, growing up in the neighborhood that she did, contribute most to
Esperanza s identity. It caused her to be a self loving, kind, compassionate and not judging

The Existence Of Diabetes Mellitus
The existence of diabetes mellitus was first recognized by the ancient Egyptians and Greeks when
individuals showed signs of excessive urination, rapid weight loss, and sweet tasting urine. Diagnosis
was, therefore, made by designated water tasters, who drank the urine of potential diabetes patients
searching for a sweet taste. Because diabetes patients are drained of fluids, the Greek philosopher
Apollonius coined the term diabetes for the disease, which means to siphon or to pass through. The
name mellitus originated from Latin and was later added to the term diabetes. (9) For thousands of
years, little information was known about diabetes. The remedies used at the time were largely
ineffective, and many individuals died from diabetes after short life spans. In 1776, Matthew Dobson
discovered that the urine of diabetes patients contained increased concentrations of glucose. In 1797,
John Rollo recognized a link between diet and treatment of diabetes. In 1812, the disease was
clinically recognized in the New England Journal of Medicine and Surgery, and the first laboratory
tests were developed to measure the presence of sugar in urine. (9) During the following two hundred
years, the scientific community gained a greater understanding of diabetes and its pathology,
prevention, and treatment. In 1869, Paul Langerhans identified various types of pancreatic cells. In the
early 1900 s, a pancreatic substance was extracted and termed insulin. In the 1920 s,

Analysis Of Dale Carnegie s On Skills As A Business Owner
TO: Mr. Jes Methipara, Aspiring business owner
FROM: Ms. Samantha Nartadam, Student
DATE: December 14, 2015
RE: Techniques to Consider
Your desire to start your own business is admirable. Dale Carnegie s How to Win Friends and
Influence People would assist you in furthering your business. Please consider the following
techniques when cultivating your skills as a business owner.
What s in it for them?
Many times, people only care about how they will be benefitting in any situation. Because of this,
business owners always need to think about what their employees or consumers will be getting out of
any transaction. This is the most effective way to win them over. Business owners need to clearly
illustrate the benefits for those who have their company in consideration. According to Dale Carnegie,
he was once approached by the company that owns the grand ballroom that he lectures in. The
company said that they were going to be charging Carnegie at a higher price. Rather than speaking
from his own experience, Carnegie explained to the company how charging him more would actually
be detrimental to their company. By only speaking calmly about the company and not himself, he was
able to effectively convince the company not to overcharge him.
In my personal life, if I ever want to convince someone to do what I desire, I always lay out how it
would benefit them. When I want my friends to accompany me to places that they have no desire to go
to, I try to illustrate the

Social-Psychological Principles in Good Will Hunting Essay
Social psychological principles in Good Will Hunting Donna Harris SOCI 4340
Good Will Hunting is a story about Will Hunting who works as a janitor at MIT cleaning classrooms.
Will is an orphan who grew up in various foster homes and was physically abused as a child. Will is
also an extraordinary mathematical genius with a photographic memory, who enjoys solving math
problems. Will blames himself for his unhappy upbringing and turns this self loathing into a form of
self sabotage in both his professional and emotional lives. Because Will blames himself he is unable to
maintain a steady job or a steady relationship. Will must learn to overcome his fear of abandonment in
order to learn how to trust and love people who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Will did not know what he wanted to do with his life and did not think that he was good enough for
anything outside of South Boston.
Self Fulfilling Prophecies There are a couple of scenes in the movie Good Will Hunting that show self
fulfilling prophecies. The first scene in the movie that depicts self fulfilling prophecies is when Will
goes to call Skylar but then does not say anything when she answers the phone. The second scene in
Good Will Hunting that represents self fulfilling prophecies is when Will and Skylar are laying in bed
and Skylar asks Will to go to California with her. Will gets defensive and begins to push Skylar away
and they get into a heated argument. Will is defensive because he is trying to push Skylar away before
she does it to him. Skylar tells Will that she loves him but Will still continues to push her away. Will
ends up leaving but first tells Skylar that he does not love her. The social psychological principle that
is relevant to this scene is self fulfilling prophecies. The definition of self fulfilling prophecy is the
observation that expectations about the future tend to come true due to the fact that our expectations
affect what we think, say, and do and those actions affect the outcome of events and situations . Robert
Merton describes self fulfilling prophecies as the situation where we end up labeling others, and
through this we actually influence their action, and they eventually become

Describe Michael s Identity In This Is It
1. Aesthetics. How do Michael s wardrobe, dance, vocal, poetic, and performative choices all point to
a particular style? What would you, as a critic, call this style, and why? As a critic, I would call
Michael s style transgressive. Michael tacitly challenged gendered, sartorial mores and wore women s
couture like Givenchy and Balmain, adding androgynous touches like his trademark ornamented glove
and cropped pants. His dance skills were similarly daring from his pioneer pop lock style to his
signature, risqué crotch grab. His performative choices blended this corporeal innovation with digital
spectacle and married with them with a mélange of sound, which distilled elements of pop, funk and
soul. Perhaps most transgressive were his vocal choices, however; a high tenor, Michael had a three
and a half octave range, according to vocal coach Seth Riggs, and he managed to connect this range in
a fluid, unprecedented way. 2. Identity. How would you describe this identity, and ... Show more

His perfectionism is displayed in the film multiple times: (1) When he corrects the band s bass level
and timing during the sound check for The Way You Make Me Feel ; (2) when he insists that the light
rise on his cue, not on a timer for the same rehearsal; (3) when he asks again for a sizzle moment or
cue that conflicts with the director s initial cue for Smooth Criminal ; and (4) when he corrects the
timing on the appearance of the bulldozer during the Earth Song rehearsal. With respect to his
humanitarian side, Michael demonstrates patience and benevolence toward his entourage and
evidences a similar goodwill in his socially conscious songwriting namely the Earth Song, which
encourages environmental accountability and community involvement. Michael s scandal ridden
career, racial identity and age are moot elements in the

  • 3. Fatalism In The Radical Durkheim And C. W. Mills This is evident in Frank Pearce s chapter Fatalism in The Radical Durkheim and C. W. Mills chapter The Promise in The Sociological Imagination as both men place great emphasis on the fact that our awareness of our everyday lives affect how we behave and react to daily stressors. However, Pearce s Durkheimianism exceeds what Mill s calls the sociological imagination by demonstrating that all walks of life suffer no matter their employment or social ranking, but in very different ways. Additionally, Pearce s explanation on fatalism furthers this point by insisting that our personal experiences are predetermined due to the greater society in which we live in; thus, the outcome becomes unavoidable (Pearce 2013:126). Why are Diageo, Pernod Ricard, and other marketers of global spirits brands localizing advertising campaigns in emerging markets? Diageo, Ricard, and other marketers of global spirits brands are localizing their advertising campaigns in emerging markets because no two countries or their inhabitants are alike. Another group for Diageo s China market segmentation and consumption category is women; list the same age bracket as the guanxi men, who are strong and independent (Keegan Green, 2011). As stated in previous text, as emerging markets GDP continue to increase in emerging markets so too will the aspirational classes and the thirst for Scotch. This and the relaxation of legal issues as the world evolves will control and ultimately increase the consumption habits of Scotch whiskey consumers globally. 3. Why are some spirits products and brands strictly local, while some have global potential? The choice to remain strictly local or explore their potential in the global market is determined by several factors within the brand itself. This all based on the resources the brand has that will or will not allow them to expand globally given the opportunity. This also includes the brands ability to understand and respond to their target culture in their product design and advertising. There are numerous local spirits brands in emerging markets that produce spirits specific to their culture. This will hinder then if ever they decide to expand in the global ... Frankl, an Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist who also had survived the Holocaust, writes When we are no longer able to change a situation we are challenged to change ourselves (BrainyQuote). Frankl survived genocide against his own people and still chose to have a positive outlook on it because he understands that if he did not, he would continually live an unhappy, upset life. Like Frankl, Ivan Denisovich Shukhov, the main character in One Day In The Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, contains a similar outlook to that of Frankl. The novel takes place during Soviet Russia in a gulag in Siberia, or otherwise known as a labor work camp. The whole book is about only one day that Shukhov lives; from 5 in the morning to 10 at night and all that happens in between. In this labor camp, not only are the weather conditions very cold, making it difficult to work in such circumstances, but also the workers are punished and harshly treated if they do not obey the guards. When placed in this environment, it is easy to be discouraged and miserable, but instead of facing the negatives of his situation, Shukhov remains affirmative in his thoughts which are most important in order to survive not only physically, but also mentally. This stoicism portrayed in the narrative can also be found in Epictetus s work, The Handbook. In this text, Epictetus discusses how he believes people can live a happy life, despite the hard conditions they are put through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I observed a first grade classroom at Tatnuck Magnet Elementary School in Worcester, Massachusetts. This was my first opportunity to watch and comprehend a classroom environment with a teacher s mindset. It was an eye opening experience, I was beginning to see the classroom in components: teaching methods, lesson plans, philosophies, and common core requirements. Listening for how to give directions rather than follow them is just one example of my changed focus while in the classroom. Due to my schedule, I observed the first grade class on three separate days during the morning to afternoon part of the school day. There were roughly fifteen students, a diverse group which included various ethnicities and personalities. I feel that I was lucky in being assigned this class because it was extremely dynamic and I got to witness many activities and strategies in a couple hours. Throughout this observation report I will most likely quote phrases the teacher said as I found them to be key tools when dealing with a situation. For the purpose of maintaining confidentiality in this report, I will change the teacher s name to Ms. Mallard and also create names for any students mentioned hereafter. Some of the major failures that my group talked about was the forced sterilization, state of emergency, religious divide, censorship and corruption. The mass forced sterilization was ultimate failure in my eyes and as I talked about prior a major human rights violation. Interestingly, Indira Gandhi had no gender policy during her reign. One would think that a women politician would want to address so many of the problems that plague women on a daily basis. If I was a women in India during the time where Indira Gandhi came to power, I would have been devastated that she was not interested in improving women s rights. Indira also reinforced the religious divide within India, especially for the Sikhs. She ended up exacerbating tensions in the region, which ultimately lead to her demise. While she did have a lot of failures, this weeks class helped bring to light some of her successes as well. Prior to this class I only really thought of her failures and even during class my group had a hard time coming up with anything. I think her lack of credentials and her short sidedness made her ill prepared to be a ruler. Visual Judgments TECHNOLOGIES OF RACIAL PROFILING: DIGITAL DISCRETION OF RACE Browne (2010) situates her argument of the racialization of surveillance by focusing on how surveillance technologies place emphasis on classification of the visual aspects of one s identity. She draws heavily from Paul Gilroy s (2000) concept of Epidermal thinking a concept referring to the modern discourse of visual judgements and how they can racialize practices in society. The concept of otherness is important to epidermal thinking, as prototypical whiteness and the Other are examples of how skin is categorized through visual judgements. Such visual judgements translate to surveillance in terms of controlling the freedom and mobility of individuals by means of profiling those with bodies that deem them out of place (Browne 2010). ... Robin Hood Outlaw In mid 14th century Nottingham, under the rule of King Edward II, an outlaw named Robin Hood emerged from Sherwood Forest with his entourage of outlaws he claimed his Merry Men. Robin Hood and his Merry Men have gone down in history as the band of outlaws whom were said to have stolen from the rich and given to the poor, not to mention ridding Nottingham of the malicious Sheriff. Many historians have been questioning the amount of truth behind the story of Robin Hood and his Merry Men that has been passed down from generation to generation for centuries, but no one knows for sure what really happened. There are many theories referring to Robin Hood s existence, but one in particular seems more plausible than the rest that the story of Robin Hood is the story of not just one man and his entourage, but a collection of admirable people who helped change society for the greater good. Robin Hood was believed to be a heroic outlaw in the mid 14th century, who stole from the rich and gave to the poor. But who s to say that Robin Hood was the only one who did this? By definition, a crime scene is a scene or place where an offence has been committed, and the site where forensic evidence is to be gathered in the pursuit of investigating the offence (Fisher, 2012, p.10). Fisher goes on to clarify that a crime scene may refer to a physical place that may provide potential evidence to an investigator. This is not limited to a location but rather may include a include a person s body, any type of building, vehicles, places in the open air or objects found at those locations. Fisher elaborates; explaining how hoth forensic and scientific techniques are used in order to preserve and obtain evidence of crime at the crime scene. (Fisher, 2012, p. 13). Lee and Palmbach (2001) point out that the processes involved in examining a crime scene does not need to be sophisticated or elaborate; instead, investigators need to concern themselves with adhering to the fundamental principles and procedures within crime scene investigation. It is important to remember that there is not a comprehensive plan or sole guiding principle when it comes to processing crime scenes (Pepper, 2010, p. 101). This being the case, exploring different protocols and methods that assist in forming a logical plan towards crime scene investigation is crucial in policing. In many situations song writers get ideas for music through poems seeing as most are written on life experiences or events. It is evident that the poem, The Ballad of Birmingham written by Dudley Randall and the song Strength, Courage, and Wisdom written by India Arie have numerous similarities. These two works are about people who exemplify strength, courage, and wisdom. Even though both of these works were created in different time periods, they still convey the same meaning. The characteristic of strength is found during the course of these two works of poetry. In stanza one of The Ballad of Birmingham , Mother dear, may I go downtown Instead of out to play, And march the streets of Birmingham In a Freedom March today ( 1 4 Randall)? An African American child is pleading to her mother to allow her to march for the rights of all African American citizens. This statement alone, coming from a young child, is a powerful statement of inner strength. We also see the similar statement within the first stanza of a song by India Aria which states, It s time to step out on faith, I ve gotta show my face It s been elusive for so long, but freedom is mine today ( A Z Lyrics ). Even without entirely saying it, the lyrics of the song and the words of the poem both refer to having enough strength to stand up for their freedom. Duffy has found through the study of wills that Catholic views were still seen in a large section of the population. However, Doran suggests that long and relentless government persecutions forced many Catholics from their faith. This would indicate that there is uncertainty as to the Catholic threat domestically and Murphy would certainly argue that due to the increasingly hostile situation in Europe that the bigger Catholic threat came from abroad. When the Elizabethan Church Settlement was created Elizabeth attempted to return religious policy to the way it had been at the end of Henry VIII s reign; there is also an indication the settlement was driven by a need for political expediency. The presence of this gradient is sensed by a class of receptors, called 7 transmembrane heterotrimeric G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) (2). As the name implies, these proteins are located in the plasma membrane of eukaryotic cells. This external gradient triggers an intracellular Phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5) trisphosphate (PIP3) gradient to form (2). PIP3 is a phospholipid that is located in the plasma membrane of eukaryotic cells (3). This PIP3 gradient induces a signaling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Motility is present even in the absence of a stimulus, if the organism contains flagella or pseudopodia (14). However, if the cells are exposed to a gradient of chemoattractant or chemorepellent, their motility is biased toward or away from higher concentrations of that stimulus (14). When Dictyostelium are exposed to various cAMP concentrations, more pseudopodia are formed and are extended towards the areas of high cAMP concentrations (14). This process is mirrored by neutrophils, which extend pseudopodia rhythmically towards positive chemotactic stimuli ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Examples Of Modernism In Lolita Modernism is a literary movement that was born in the 20th century in order to find new forms of writing and create something entirely different that the world has seen before. Modernists proclaimed about a complete separation from realistic traditions that took place in the 19th century and decided to put an emphasis on Impressionism, Perspectivism and Subjectivity in their literary works. The main idea of Modernism is that emphasis was put on how we see rather what we perceive. Our own understanding and perception of event is even more important than an event of itself. The Modernists present the inner world of hero in the first place. How the consciousness and the subconsciousness are interacting, and how our actions and decisions are made ... Certainly, the image of Lolita , that Humbert had in his mind since the death of his adolescent love Annabella, had affected on his perception of Dolores. But the words: She was only the dead leaf echo of the nymphet from long ago but I loved her make me question the nature of his obsession towards her. She was 17 and pregnant; common pedophile would probably lost the interest in her, but Humbert did not, he still loved her, and this makes the reader question Humbert s love toward little ... Esperanza, the main character, is a kind and helpful girl. Many factors, like her moving around often and not liking her name, contribute to Esperanza s identity. However, growing up in a poor Chicago neighborhood contribute most to Esperanza s identity. The biggest factor that shaped Esperanza s identity is the environment in which she grows up in. In her neighborhood there is a junk store where the shopkeeper will only turn the lights if you have the money to buy something. When she wanted to experience eating in the lunchroom, the lunch lady was so unpleasant to her that she cried. One day I ll own my own house, but I won t forget who I am or where I came from. Passing bums will ask, Can I come in? I ll offer them the attic, ask them to stay, because I know how it is to be without a house (87). This shows that Esperanza will be kind to those below her unlike the shopkeeper and the lunch lady. This makes her a kind hearted human being and that is part of who she is. Growing up in a poor Chicago neighborhood shaped Esperanza to be a kind, compassionate person who knows her worth and doesn t judge people by sight. Some may argue that moving around often is a more important aspect of Esperanza s identity than growing up in the neighborhood that she did. They may assert that because moving around a lot caused her to become a self reliant person. Esperanza did not form many connections with people her own age. However, growing up in her neighborhood caused her to mature as a human and give her the characteristic that make her who she is. As you can see, growing up in the neighborhood that she did, contribute most to Esperanza s identity. It caused her to be a self loving, kind, compassionate and not judging ... • 44. The Existence Of Diabetes Mellitus The existence of diabetes mellitus was first recognized by the ancient Egyptians and Greeks when individuals showed signs of excessive urination, rapid weight loss, and sweet tasting urine. Diagnosis was, therefore, made by designated water tasters, who drank the urine of potential diabetes patients searching for a sweet taste. Because diabetes patients are drained of fluids, the Greek philosopher Apollonius coined the term diabetes for the disease, which means to siphon or to pass through. The name mellitus originated from Latin and was later added to the term diabetes. (9) For thousands of years, little information was known about diabetes. The remedies used at the time were largely ineffective, and many individuals died from diabetes after short life spans. In 1776, Matthew Dobson discovered that the urine of diabetes patients contained increased concentrations of glucose. In 1797, John Rollo recognized a link between diet and treatment of diabetes. In 1812, the disease was clinically recognized in the New England Journal of Medicine and Surgery, and the first laboratory tests were developed to measure the presence of sugar in urine. (9) During the following two hundred years, the scientific community gained a greater understanding of diabetes and its pathology, prevention, and treatment. In 1869, Paul Langerhans identified various types of pancreatic cells. In the early 1900 s, a pancreatic substance was extracted and termed insulin. In the 1920 s, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Dale Carnegie, he was once approached by the company that owns the grand ballroom that he lectures in. The company said that they were going to be charging Carnegie at a higher price. Rather than speaking from his own experience, Carnegie explained to the company how charging him more would actually be detrimental to their company. By only speaking calmly about the company and not himself, he was able to effectively convince the company not to overcharge him. In my personal life, if I ever want to convince someone to do what I desire, I always lay out how it would benefit them. • 48. Describe Michael s Identity In This Is It 1. Aesthetics. How do Michael s wardrobe, dance, vocal, poetic, and performative choices all point to a particular style? What would you, as a critic, call this style, and why? As a critic, I would call Michael s style transgressive. Michael tacitly challenged gendered, sartorial mores and wore women s couture like Givenchy and Balmain, adding androgynous touches like his trademark ornamented glove and cropped pants. His dance skills were similarly daring from his pioneer pop lock style to his signature, risqué crotch grab. His performative choices blended this corporeal innovation with digital spectacle and married with them with a mélange of sound, which distilled elements of pop, funk and soul. Perhaps most transgressive were his vocal choices, however; a high tenor, Michael had a three and a half octave range, according to vocal coach Seth Riggs, and he managed to connect this range in a fluid, unprecedented way. 2.
