My client this semester was a 5 year old boy who presented with a moderate
expressive language disorder and a severe phonological disorder. Throughout the
semester with my client, I found many aspects of clinical work both rewarding and
challenging. The most rewarding aspects of clinical work was represented through
my client s overall progress. As a student clinician, it was rewarding when I learned
how to facilitate my client s performance for a specific skill. For example, learning
that my client benefited most when I gave him tactile prompts for /s/ blends or that
my client s performance increased when implementing more motivating activities.
Watching my client reach his objectives with the aid of my prompts and teaching
was rewarding. However, seeing my client use these newly learned skills to
achieve a more functional outcome was even more rewarding (e.g., using a
consonant cluster when talking to his brother at the end of a session). Although, I
experienced rewarding aspects of clinical work I also faced multiple challenges.
Throughout the semester, I had difficulty with documentation. I was able to portray
verbally what was happening in my session and what I was learning in all my
courses, but had difficulty writing it all out on paper. Documentation is an important
aspect of clinical work and I will need to continually focus on and practice this piece
to become more proficient in my writing as a clinician.

taken from Muslims in the early Middle Ages. It is an era romanticized by fervent

When Muhammad died a caliph, or successor, assumed leadership. The two caliphs
succeeding Muhammad furthered the Islamic cause by conquering vast territory.
Their culture infiltrated lands from the Pyrenees and Atlantic coast in Spain to the
Indus Valley of India and China s far western borders (Andrea 88). Their world
community called Dar al Islam spread across land and included non Muslim peoples.
Muslims allowed the Christians living in this realm to continue practicing
Christianity. However, the Pact of Umar, a political document, succinctly laid out the
requirements of Christian observance within the presence of Muslims. Although it
was a restricted existence for the Christians, the Muslims did practice and offer
tolerance towards this disparate religion. At least the Muslims didn t savagely murder
Christians, which was the strategy for the Christian crusaders. How did the Christian
crusaders re conquer the territory they considered to be theirs? The Islamic leaders
slowly lost control over their lands due to internal factional differences. Therefore, the
Christians were able to make advancements towards the campaign of the re conquista,
the conquest. Although the Christian crusades were slowly fought, in fact, it took
over three centuries to re acquire their lost territories (A.D. 1000 1300), they secured

Thomas Holmes
Thomas Holmes was the best cat that ever lived; however, his life was cut short
and finally ended with the deadly point of piercing needles and sharp dissecting
scissors. Little Tommy, as only his closest friends knew him as, was first
introduced into the world on the sidewalk of a busy New York street. As the
smallest kitten in his litter, Tommy was bullied by his bigger siblings and was never
appropriately fed. Severely malnourished, at age three days, Tommy was on the verge
of death, and every sibling knew this. Sadly, they continued to fight Tommy and push
him away when receiving their daily meals. Even his motherwould move whenever
Tommy had an opportunity to drink her nutritious milk. One day Tommy gave up,
he laid himself on the bottom of their cardboard home and accepted his fate. He
slowly drifted away from this world and ventured to the home he resides in now, but
it wasn t his time. With the power from the catgods, he awoke on the table of a vet s
office.

The female cat across from Mr. Lester s house was a pretty blond and she always
found herself in Tommy s backyard. There, she and Tommy became great friends
and finally fell in love. After his great escape, Tommy ran to the blond and lived
with her in the abandoned house for the rest of his life. Tommy had kittens and
made sure each of them received a large amount of food. As a dad, Tommy took
care of his wife and kids and guarded them with his life. Sadly, one day a huge,
muscular cat entered Tommy s house with intentions to kill. Tommy began to fight
the cat with all his might, and fortunately, Tommy succeeded; however, the severe

Robert Johnson Cross Road Blues
Cross Road Blues was recorded in 1936 (Sullivan, 2013) and has been one of the
most notable stories ever told. The track features Robert Johnson himself in a
variation of the 12 bar blues structure as he deviates from the form to bare all
emotion. His vocal prowess and slide guitar mastery is expressed in the usage of
microtonal intervals which was common in the style of Delta Blues. Robert Johnson
was a prolific songwriter who died at 27. His life and music was poorly
documented as he did not receive much public recognition during his lifetime. Not

socio political environment of Mississippi in the 1930s. Lynching is an
extrajudicial practice carried out as an informal execution of an alleged criminal.
In the 1900s, lynch mobs were a frequent way to highlight the economic and
political differences as the dominant group would suppress their competition in
this way, especially in the south. It was reported that African American men were
lynched to death in Mississippi on a weekly basis. Since 1874, the Jim Crow laws
had been established and stayed in effect until 1975. This legalizes the separation of
races in the south of America and condemned coloured Americans to a second class
citizenship (Tischauser, 2012). These conditions became the source of many blues
numbers which often wail the gruesome experiences of victims of systemic racism
such as Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday, as it was a common reaction to perform
