1. Pursuasive Essays
Writing a persuasive essay can be a challenging endeavor that requires a combination of critical
thinking, effective communication skills, and a thorough understanding of the chosen subject
matter. Crafting a compelling argument to persuade readers to adopt a particular point of view
involves more than just presenting facts; it requires the ability to anticipate and address
counterarguments, employ persuasive language, and organize ideas coherently.
One of the difficulties lies in the research process. To develop a strong persuasive essay, one
must delve into credible sources to gather relevant information, statistics, and examples that
support the chosen stance. Analyzing and synthesizing this information demands time and effort
to ensure the essay is well-informed and persuasive.
Furthermore, the structure of a persuasive essay adds another layer of complexity. Effectively
organizing thoughts, constructing a clear introduction with a compelling thesis statement,
developing well-structured body paragraphs, and crafting a persuasive conclusion are essential
elements that contribute to the overall success of the essay.
In addition, addressing potential counterarguments requires a careful balance. Anticipating
opposing viewpoints and providing compelling rebuttals can be intellectually challenging,
requiring a nuanced understanding of the subject matter and the ability to present a convincing
case.
Writing with a persuasive tone is an art in itself. Choosing the right words, employing rhetorical
devices, and using vivid language to engage readers requires a mastery of communication skills.
Striking the right balance between being assertive and respectful is crucial to maintaining the
credibility of the argument.
Despite these challenges, mastering the art of persuasive essay writing can be a rewarding
experience. It hones critical thinking skills, enhances communication abilities, and encourages a
deeper exploration of diverse perspectives. However, for those who find the process
overwhelming or time-consuming, there are alternative solutions. Services likeHelpWriting.net

Spain s in trouble Spain started facing economic troubles since 2008 global crisis.
Financial crisis caused a huge crash in the property market and significant losses at
its banks. These days Spain s citizens take part in polls in Galicia and Basque
regions. Galicia s PM Mariano Rajoy lost part of national support due to his austerity
measures. Basque country s Socialist Party met opposite influence from Basque
Nationalist Party. Unemployment rate in Spain grew to 25% in some regions like
Galicia since the crisis began. Spain has already asked for some contribution from
Swiss banks. They received 100 billion euro for covering its financial sector. (2012,

financial system and because of the actions of the European Central Bank. Among
the disadvantages faced by the country, the IMF calls the collapse of the bubble in
the housing market, high debt levels in the population, the tightening of credit
conditions, fiscal consolidation and the uncertainty caused by the banking and
debt crisis. The reduction of GDP in 2013 due to a decrease in domestic demand was

Why the Range of Indicators Used to Measure Development Has Increased in Recent
Years
Essentially the ideology of development was based on a countries GNP this was
down to Rostow s Model; therefore the only indicator of development was a
countries economy. The ideologies have changed and now there are a range of
indicators that are used to classify a countries development such as social,
demographic, hence including quality of life this gives the ideology of development
a more multi dimensional view thus a better understand of what a developed country
is.
There are three categories that are used to measure development they are economic,

Other limitations in using GNP is that it needs to measure by a currency and with
currencies always changing figures can become less accurate. Also in LEDC s
figures are less accurate and a lot of business is done within the informal sector
thus leaving GNP figures very unreliable. It also does not take into account the cost
of living is different depending on countries for example 10 dollars in and LEDC
will buy a person a lot more than what it would buy you in America. GNP s frequent
use suggest that development is only based on a countries wealth, where as this not
true because development is multi dimensional process. The other economic factors
such as better transport link and energy consumption tie in well with GNP and make
using a countries economy more useful in considering if a country is developed or not.
Some social indictors of development include the adult literacy rate, incidence of
doctors and access to a clean water supply. Adult literacy rates are good measure of
development because it shows the countries population who have access to education,
with people able to communicate in other ways rather than word of mouth enhances
the chance of employment. Also one can compare the literacy rates between male
and female if they are more men able to read and write it suggest that women do no
5. An Application Of An Enterprise System
This paper will discuss what an enterprises system is and how it has evolved to an
integrated system to a piecemeal system. We will also discuss how an enterprise
system brings integration to of business processes and the role it plays for the
management team when it comes to the decision making process. After providing
this information, I will then draw conclusion and determine if I feel an Enterprise
System is critical to business success and why. Before one can understand the role
of an enterprise system, they must first have a basic understanding of what an
enterprise actually is. Well, let s first just define the term enterprise a little bit.
According to businessdictionary.com, an enterprise is simply a synonym for the
word company or business . When combined with systems, enterprise systems
become a synonym for company systems (Riley, J., n.d.). An enterprise system is a
group of services that work across an organization to combine and correlate
applications and services that are dependent upon each other for the efficiency of
several departments and the company (UNC Technology Source, n.d.). Now that we
understand what an enterprise system is, let s look at how they have evolved over
the years to become and staple in enterprises today. Initially, there were several
systems that were created in the 1990 s by their IT departments which created
scripted programs to meet specific needs of that one company. There was a significant
bridge between technology and

One of the pivotal figures of the Romantic Movement was William Blake. Although
an artist at first, he eventually published poems, expressing his creativity even
more. In his poems and artwork, his views on society, politics, religion, and
literature were exquisitely and controversially portrayed. Over the course of his life,
he experienced times of turmoil and joy, with those feelings being expressed in his
work. From birth to death, the one thing that remained constant was God, who Blake
constantly wrote and drew about in order to get a better understanding. Despite not
receiving critical acclaim in his lifetime, he has been praised since his death. Through
William Blakes life, work, and legacy, his impact on the Romantic Movement is
clear and evident. On November 28, 1757, William Blake was born to James and
Catherine Blake, the latter of whom taught him much of his education ( The Legacy

The arguments that support vertical integration and the risks associated with
outsourcing. The risks of outsourcing are incidentally the supportive arguments for
any decisions to make.
Reasons for Outsourcing:
1. Strategic flexibility switching orders between suppliers as circumstances dictate
2. Cost reduction
3. Focus on core competencies
4. Minimize inventory, materials handling, and other non value added costs.
5. Reduce development and production cycle times
6. Improve efficiency
7. Possibility of obtaining orders from the country where suppliers are located.
Risks of Outsourcing
1. Loss of control
2. Conversion costs
3. Possibility of being tied to obsolete technology
4. Exposure to supplier risks; financial strength, loss of commitment to outsourcing,
slow implementation, promised features not available, lack of responsiveness poor
quality
5. Loss of protection over proprietary technology
6. Denial of the possibility of specialized investments
Trade offs is always involved in make or buys decisions. The benefits of
manufacturing components in house seem to be very strong when highly specialized
assets are involved, when firm is simply more efficient than external suppliers at

8. When these conditions are not present, the risks of strategic inflexibility and
organizational problems suggest that it may be better contract out manufacturing
components to independent suppliers. Since issues of strategic flexibility
9. The Methods Used Were Largely Effective
The methods used were largely effective. Quantitative data and use of statistics tend
to be reliable and have the advantage of being able to generalise in this case the
student population. This is recognisable when the research concludes from it s
findings that statistically significant was respondents educational background as
measured by their A level grades, with those students achieving grades ABB or
above being less likely to be a perpetrator than students who achieved BBB or below
, (Selwyn, 2008, p.7). Here it is apparent the researcher is indicating that educational
background is a critical factor in determining whether a studentbecomes a perpetrator
of crime. Therefore the generalisation of well educated students committing less
crime is forwarded. Alongside this by methods involving unknown participants would
enhance the reliability of the findings and potentially reduce any personal biases.
Though it was admitted that in the sample many students were just following norms
and beliefs when it came to minor offending. Moreover the qualitative data suggested
various students were less worried by offending whilst at university due to the
unreality and responsibilities. One method used was an open ended questionnaire.
This was a respectable transformation of method as it involved more student
participation. Findings revealed some respondents involvement in criminal behaviour
was due to the idea of living up to the stereotype of being an irresponsible student. An

Managing individual behavior affects the realization of individual and group goals
and this makes it necessary to shape behaviors in a way that supports the realization
of specific goals (Bunn, 2013). Motivation is an important area of management as it
helps managers to understand how to influence behaviors positively in a workplace
environment (Louis, 2015). My experience as a team leader led to motivation. This
experience has been evaluated in this paper using theories, models, and principles to
provide insight on motivation. The experience has been described clearly, identifying
knowledge acquired and how it can be applied to promote self motivation as well as
the motivation of others.

A high rate of absenteeism and low morale was being experienced in the division,

The captain had expressed frustrations about the issue in one of the weekly meetings

from the warrant officers about the issue, but they did not identify the specific
causes of high absenteeism and low morale in the division. A meeting of the
commissioned officers was convened by the captain to look at the way forwards.
The officers resolved to create a task force to investigate the causes and the problem
and come up with mitigation strategies. The captain established a team of eight

In my view the three main topics of chapter one are How do you build a Foundation

you have a good foundation for execution.
Foundation of Execution basically implies the mechanization of routine business
tasks. Doing this permits individuals to focus on enhancing the business as opposed
to simply absolutely running it. According to Ross, Weill, and Robertson, the three
keys to building a strong foundation are Operating model, Enterprise architecture and
IT engagement model. I can say that a company has a good foundation if it
experiences higher profitability, faster time to market, and lower IT costs. In any
case, those aren t the main reasons you would need to construct an strong foundation
for execution. Moreover, developing complexity in an company s system can make
inflexibility in the systems, and excessive costs, without included quality. Likewise,
business agility relies on upon an strong foundation for execution. More agile

A operating model is the operational design that makes it conceivable to convey the
business methodology. Operational design takes after technique, however the
relationship additionally lives up to expectations the other path around, which
implies that thoughts for operating model enhancements can prompt changes in

degrees of success. The aim is to amend and align existing models to the critical

13. Analysis of Edmund Waller s Poem On a Girdle Essay
Analysis of Edmund Waller s Poem On a Girdle
At first glance, Edmund Waller s poem On a Girdle seems to suggest nothing more
than praise of one woman s fair beauty and the speaker s love for her. After diving
deeper into the text, however, it becomes apparent that the speaker does a much
better job of praising himself than the woman. His love is more a lust for control and
possession than a true declaration of sentiment. Waller uses extreme imagery and
exaggeration to seemingly praise this woman. More importantly, however, he subtlety
belittles her through tropes and diction. Waller evokes this image of her girdle to
express his own desire to restrict this beautiful woman.
It cannot be denied that Waller ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything he loved about her fit around her waist, her body. Waller is not interested
in her brain, her soul or her ideas. He never mentions them. He also never mentions
how she might think or feel about him. Waller praises this woman because of her
beauty alone and as a result this seems to be her only worth.
Within all this praise and admiration the woman is transformed into a status symbol.
Waller brags, No monarch but would give his crown, His arms might do what this
has done. Crown is an interesting word in this context. A crown is a king s status
symbol, but a crown is also a British monetary unit, a way of measuring worth.
With this statement, Waller seems to be saying a king would gladly give up his
crown, his power, to put his arms around this woman as her girdle does. When
viewed in this light the statement appears to be a compliment. Perhaps, however,
Waller is actually implying that this woman is as effective a symbol of status as a
crown and with her in his possession a king would no longer need to rely on his
crown for power. In this case the word crown can be seen as an ironic pun. A crown
denotes status but can also serve as a way of measuring monetary worth. The woman
is beautiful, giving the man status as a crown gives a king. A crown in the monetary
sense measures worth and this woman is deemed worthy only by her

17. Formative Assessment Reflection
The assessment practices that I feel are most important in my school is the usage of
Common Core. It requires students to analyze, synthesize, apply and evaluate
information that is gained from reading (Afflerbach, 2015). I have seen firsthand the
positive effects of using Common Core especially in the ELA discipline. It allows
for higher order thinking skills versus the lower level questioning that the students
have been exposed to for so long.
Some assessment practices that I feel are in need of more emphasis in my school is
the understanding that reading is an active and complex process that understands
written text (Afflerbach, 2015). Also, seeing that there is a great need for using
formative assessments set off a red flag for me. At my school, we tend to focus on
beginning with the end in mind and focus more on summative assessments instead of
formative assessments. After reading Afflerbach s article, I noticed that formative
assessment focus more on determining where the student is and what they need next
in their instruction (Afflerbach, 2015). Upon reading the article, I ve come to realize
that formative assessment drives the next steps of instruction and provides the
teacher the means to understand where they are coming from in order to get them to
where they need to be.
Reflecting on my observations of my students, I feel that standardized testing has not
been proven to be in their best interest. Berliner states that no single indicator can

Coaching and leadership seem to be synonymous with each other, in that if you re a

(Bob Carter) Integrity is the ability of a leader to live and lead with some principles
and take responsibility for their actions. The ability to possess integrity should build
confidence in your team. Integrity is probably where the two coaches will separate
their styles of leadership. Coach Knight through the years did several things to
damage that integrity, through his actions in Panama or ways he degraded
assistant coaches or lecturing teams with the use of props of soiled toilet paper.
There were many times where his actions did not represent the role which he was
given and he made little effort to change unless he was forced. Coach K built much
of what he was on his integrity; he stuck up for his players many times. Once his
team was graded by the student paper, it was the fact that the paper portrayed the
players as instruments of entertainment and ego indulgence; this infuriated the coach,
which he later apologized. What Coach K stood for was a caring, communication
and trust within the team, and that was what he wanted for the whole student body,
and why his fan base was so strong. The last important trait style of leadership is the
ability for a leader to seek out good pleasant social relationships. The leader should be
thought of as friendly, outgoing, courteous, tactful and diplomatic. Coach Knight, I
believe, started out his career with these traits as

20. The Rise of Silas Lapham
In the Story The Rise of Silas Lapham, written by William Dean Howells, Silas s
desire to conform to the standards of society is the root of his company s downfall
but the rise of his understanding and morals. The society Silas is trying to feel
accepted by is very judgmental and vain and do not care about others therefore
making it very tough for the Laphams to be accepted or even feel somewhat normal
where they are living. Persis is a significant character in the novel because in the end
she is why Silas does the things he does because she bestowed good morals in him.

Persis was one of the most important characters in the book. At the beginning of the
story Silas didn t have very many morals to none at all. She helped him obtain the
morals he lives by. The reason these morals are so vital in the book is because
when he loses site of everything and pursues his desire to fit in he comes back to
these morals and realizes what he s been doing and sacrificing just to be one of
them. A good example of him realizing morals are when Rogers is trying to get
buyers for the mills knowing the companies going go under and the mills aren t
going to be worth anything once it does. Rogers does not tell the English men of
this situation so they are completely unsuspecting when going in to purchase the
mills. When Silas heard this he refused to sell it to them because he didn t want to
cheat them of their money. Rogers then suggests selling the mills to him and he
will sell them to the English men. Silas refuses again. He d rather let his company
go bankrupt than resent that decision for the rest of his life and still be wealthy.
Early in the story Persis said in a conversation with Silas You know he couldn t buy

21. Symbolism Of Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
Symbolism in Sir Gawain The Green Knight Sir Gawain The Green Knight is a
classic medieval poem about a chivalrous knight on a journey to the Green Chapel.
King Arthur s nephew, Sir Gawain has been challenged by the Green Knight in a
beheading game, where he has agreed to exchange a blow in the head towards the
Green Knight, to be returned to him the following New Years in journeying to the
Green Chapel. Gawain has to battle whether his knightly virtues are more
important than his own life when faced with different trials her encounters.
Everything is not what it appears to be, knowing symbols is a critical part to
understanding the meaning of the poem. Understanding the symbolism behind the
Christian and Green Chapel adds to the overall understanding of the medieval
poem. A general definition of a chapel is a small building for Christian worship,
typically one attached to an institution or private house . The origin of the word
chapel comes from the medieval Latin word capella and the Old French word
chapele , having the meaning of hooded cloak (Alchin). The meaning behind this
comes from a cloak, which belonged to St Martin, being kept as a holy relic and
the name of the room becoming known as the chapel (Alchin). A chapel is seen in
Arthur s Castle in Camelot, The Lord s Castle and the Green Chapel. In the text,
specifically the two chapels attached to the Castle s would be more in the realm of a
Christian Chapel. In the Medieval era, a castle would

24. Gender Deviance In Sweetheart Of The Song Tra Bong
Does deviating from one s gender norms inevitably doom one down a spiral of
moral corruption? Tim O Brien, author of Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong and
Ernest Hemingway, author of The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber ,
certainly seem to hold this view, as evident by the fates of the major female
characters in their respective works. The deviance of the major female characters
in both works appears to corrupt not only themselves, but also pollute their partners,
causing them to suffer injury or harm as a result. The degree of injury ranges from
negligible, like Fossie s demotion and broken heart, to fatal, like the bullet that rips
through Macomber s skull. It begs the question, are these stories meant to serve as
cautionary tales for their female readers, or possibly for their husbands, so they may
recognize genderdeviance and stop it in its tracks before their wives transform into
Margot Macomber or Mary Anne Bell? This essay will analyze what such characters
say about pervading views of women, both in society and in literature.
At the end of Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong , Mark Fossie gazes upon his
previously demure and sweet girlfriend as a demon, surrounded by carnage, a
necklace of shriveled human tongues around her neck as she stands barefoot in the
hootch of the Green Berets. The male reader is meant to resonate with Mark s
horror and be terrified of Mary Anne s feral transformation. The pure, sweet, socially

28. Common Mental Disorders
As WHO (2001) estimated, about 450 million people around the world suffer from
mental disorders, and mental disorders is therefore one of the leading causes of
disability worldwide. Studies have been contributing to the growing number of
mental disorders for long. Although medical scientists attribute the causes to the
physiological factors, social scientists often time argue that the socioeconomic
development of a country, social classes, gender, and other social factors have
impacts on mental disorders. A broad term for the mental health, the common mental
disorders (CMDs), which refers to the general term for non psychotic, depressive, and
anxiety disorders, is a common used diagnostic category to describe the slight or early
mental problems (Fu et al. 2012). The common mental disorders provides an
opportunity for researcher to take advantages of both the physiologists and the social
scientists views. In general, although research regard the common mental disorders as
a single factor most of the times, it is possible that there are two dimensions, the
somatic and the affective dimensions, that constitute the common mental disorders.
Among these two dimensions, somatic problems are more often resulted from the

usually report fewer symptoms. However, most of the research based on only
ordinary least square regression, and seldom was the structural equation modeling

auditors and tax professionals in terms of their work life conflict, burnout and
perceptions regarding alternative work arrangements (AWA) across all sizes of public
accounting firms, and 2. accounting professionals perceptions of AWAs in industry

In Survivor, the players are constantly under a great amount of stress. The different
types of stress can have a huge impact on how they end up playing the game. For
example, physical stressors, such as food deprivation, also alter psychological

more aggressive and more impulsive players as well as affecting the players moods.
Throughout every episode there is some form of aggression. Wilson found four
different types of aggression and labelled them as, theft, verbal aggression, minor

Theft was defined as taking the property of another person without the owner s

any nonphysical act that places another under duress with the intention to pressure,

abridgment of privacy, and harassment). Verbal aggression was any hostile remark
meant to diminish another s self image or cause psychological harm. Minor

36. Analysis Of The Poem Horse And Gentlemen
In his essay, Horse and Gentlemen, T.H. Breen describes the cultural significance of
gambling, specifically in relation to the quarter horse races, in late 17th century
Virginia. Breen primarily argues that the three main aspects of gambling
competitiveness, materialism, and individualism reflected and reinforced the socio
economic structure of Virginia in this period. The high stakes wagers of the affluent
planters reinforced their dominant status in the social structure and the gentry s right
to rule over this colony. Breen s argument to this effect is supported by letters, court
transcripts, documentation of wagers, and other written first hand accounts. Breen s
case for the cultural significance of gambling has persuasive arguments for its
representation of competitiveness and materialism. However, his argument for
individualism has contrary elements and his essay would have been improved with
the inclusion of women s role in the gambling culture. Gambling in any form is an
inherently competitive activity. Breen argues that this fundamental competitiveness
was important for the gentry to air their grievances in a non violent outlet and that it
provided a chance to improve their social standing. Breen begins by describing the
household wagers that took place between the wealthiest planters. Durand of
Dauphine, a Frenchman, observed the gentlemen from the House of Burgesses begin
their gambling after dinner and attested to them still gambling when he arose in the

Demetrios Zioulis AP European History, Period E 12/19/14 France During the
Revolution or Revolutionary France The French Revolution occurred throughout
the years of 1789 1799. This revolution played a huge role in the lives of the French
people and at the same time influenced other parts of Europe as well. Society
changed dramatically after the corrupt King Louis XVI fell, followed by the
collapse of the French monarchy. Now, the French people don t want the rich to
have an over abundance of power. The tradition of control by the monarchy,
aristocracy, was simply out dated and had to be changed. The French people sought
equality, humane laws, and civil rights. These changes were soon all made possible
once the corrupt monarch was overthrowed. The Estates General was the catalyst for
the revolution in May 1789. Members of the Third Estate were locked out of a
meeting that was held by the Estates General on June 17th, 1789. Members of the
Third Estate would then meet alone and adopt their title, The National Assembly. Just
a few days later the same members would meet in a nearby tennis court, thus
esablishing the Tennis Court Oath. The oath would basically outline that: meetings
would be held in order to resist the pressure of the corrupt nobility. ( Tennis Court

Another influential event of the revolution was the storming of a medieval fortress

38. Essay On Air Pollution
Energy is essential to life. Without it, billions of people would be left cold and
hungry. The major source of energy comes from fossil fuels, and the dominant fossil
fuels used today by most industrialized and developing countries are oil, coal, and
natural gas. This burning of fossil fuels is causing several health and environmental
issues.
The first issue is air pollution. As many of you already know, burning fossil fuels
emits several air pollutants such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide
and the most common pollutant, carbon dioxide. These harmful gases are toxic to
both the environment and public health.
Another issue associated with air pollution is acid rain. Acid rain is formed when

Nevertheless, there is one simple solution to this global crisis:
The hydrogen fuel cell.
Fuel cells are used in a wide range of portable, stationary and transport applications,
such as battery chargers and home heating, but the fuel cell is best known for
powering cars. Fuel cells are quite possibly the most versatile energy solution ever
invented.
The fuel cell seems like the perfect energy source: Quiet, clean and independent of
gasoline. In a fuel cell vehicle, the fuel cell transforms hydrogen and oxygen into
electricity, and the left over heat and water is all that it emits. Most importantly, the
fuel cell is environmentally friendly.

science, and space. NASA develops the latest innovative technology and has the best

Producing power without damaging our environment is a continuing challenge.
Fossil fuels like gasoline, coal, and jet fuel are non renewable, and burning these
fuels is increasing air pollution and harms the environment. Batteries have limited
lifetimes and need to be disposed of in hazardous waste landfills. Many
environmentally friendly alternatives (solar, wind, hydroelectric, and geothermal
power) can only be used in specific environments. In contrast, hydrogen fuel cells

My first theorist critique will focus on Alexander Wendt and his teleological theory

explanatory progressivism which in turn yields itself to comparative analysis against
the broader foundational theories of realism. and liberalism, and contingent

All real world change or dynamics is seen to follow, or be motivated, by this law.
The first law of thermodynamics is meant to identify and explain that which

The Hershey Company was founded by Milton Hershey in 1909. In 1894 they
decided to produce a sweet chocolate as a coating for his caramels. The company
was originally located in Lancaster Pennsylvania. The company is now headquartered
in Hershey, Pennsylvania and is a global confectionary leader. They are known for
their chocolate, sweets, mints and other snacks.
In 1900, Hershey Company started making milk chocolate bars, wafers, and other
shapes. He was able to lower the unit cost and produce milk chocolate bars in mass
production. Chocolate was only affordable by the wealthy; However Milton
Hershey made it affordable to all. One of Hershey s earlier slogans was a palatable
confection and a most nourishing food.
Due to the great success of Hershey s low cost and high quality milk chocolate
Hershey s increased his production facilities in 1905. In 1907, he was looking to
expand his product line and introduced the Hershey s Chocolate Kisses . The
company had the Hershey Kiss trademarked in 1924.
Over the next two decades, The Hershey Company added more products to its line
that included the Mr. Goodbar, Hershey s Syrup, Hershey s Chocolate Chips, and
the Krackel Bar . Even through the Great Depression in the 1930 s the company
was able to avoid laying off anyone and maintain a profit. The Hershey bar even
went to war during World War II and was passed out to many of the military. They
received an award for its contributions to the war

43. Great Recession And The Great Depression
GREAT ECONOMIC TIMES IN AMERICA
The Great Recession and the Great Depression are the fallout of the exact same
economic problems and are only different in a few respects. Each period is marked
by a massive run ups in asset prices followed by a crash in the stock market and sent
both debt and equity markets down. These periods are said to be the worse economic
downturn in the country s history. During the great depression, as banks failed and
threatened to shut down the financial system altogether, President Franklin
Roosevelt moved quickly and effectively to address the most dangerous financial
crisis of the Great depression. The massive stock market collapse that began in
October 1929 erased massive amounts of wealth and because many banks had
invested heavily in the markets, and had lent recklessly to speculative investors, the
banks found themselves without sufficient capital and in many cases without
reserves. He created the New Deal which responded to an unemployment rate that
had reached 25 percent, and in some cities as much as 75 percent. He signed the
Emergency Banking Act, which allowed inspectors to evaluate troubled banks and
decide whether or not they could reopen. The Glass Steagall Act created a barrier
between commercial and investment banking and established the Federal Deposit
Insurance Corporation, which guaranteed that citizens would not lose their bank
deposits even if a bank failed.
Hooverville was a name created after President Hoover, emphasizing
44. Similarities Between Dr Faustus And Malcolm X
Yin and Yang:
An essay about a power hungry Doctor Faustus and a young Malcolm X.
In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting not only the authors of well known
novels Doctor Faustus and X: A Novel, but also the main characters of Malcolm
Little and Doctor Faustus. I will compose this essay on the two points of: How are
Kekla Magoon and Christopher Marlowe different but also similar? How are Faustus
and Malcolm different yet similar?
The acknowledgement of how these writers are from different time eras is a great
start. Kekla Magoon was born in Michigan in late 1980 while Christopher Marlowe
was born in February 1564 a whole four hundred and sixteen years before Magoon!
Although they were born at vastly different times they both had ... Show more content

One big connection is Malcolm X was well known for being a powerful force
during the civil rights era and Doctor Faustus craved power at the same magnitude
that Malcolm received. In the end both characters received power but suffered for
it. Malcolm Little was eventually assassinated for using his power for african
americans, while Faustus was dragged to hell for his power. The difference was
Doctor Faustus wanted power and would do anything for it so he sold his soul.
Malcolm was simply going through life and received this power he did not initially
strive for. Both characters got power in their own right. Faustus used his for
philosophy, writing, and tomfoolery while Little s capacity was more realistic in the
sense being able to persuade others. Another comparison of the two would be that
Faustus several times throughout is torn between selling his soul or not. Malcolm in
the same way experiences this same situation of personal conflict throughout the
novel of trying to figure out where he wants to go with his life. This same internal
conflict is shown at the beginning of the book talking about Malcolm debating what
to do with his pistol in the
45. Freedom Of Speech Violation
In the simulation, I played a recently graduated attorney working a dream job at the
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). My job tasks were to decide which
public inquires had their civil liberties violated. For the first decision, I chose that
the freedom to assemble was violated , because of the further restrictions and laws
placed to burden people s protest. For the second decision, I decided that there was
not any freedom of speechviolation, due to private company laws and legal power
to fire whom they want for permissible reasons. For the third decision, I marked that
the inmate s freedom of religion was not violated, because prison systems are not
required to appeal to the religious freedom of people following mock/parody
religions. For the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Generally, democracy requires individuals of a society to express themselves,
express a culture/religion, express debate and activism, everything that allows the
people to be people. The right to political speech, activism, along with journalism
need the law of freedom of speech to prosper in a democracy.
Considering recent news and previous court cases, the arrests of journalists at
Standing Rock and the court cases Near v. Minnesota (1931) and New York Times
Co. vs. United States (1971), display one of many reasons why the first amendment
s freedom of speech is prominent to democracy. Denying the law of freedom of
speech destroys a democratic society. Political speech, activism, and journalism all
aid in expressing political engagement. Democracy must have a politically engaged
society to function well. With journalism, their freedom of speech allows the society
to progress as a democracy by allowing them more awareness about their society or
more broadly, their country. Without awareness, a democratic country has oblivious
people that will later not express political engagement. In the article, Arrests of
Journalists at Standing
46. Augustine Of Hippo And Lady Julian Of Norwich
The story of Creation found in Genesis 1 3 has captured the attention of countless
Christian theologians throughout the ages. Despite the fact that the text of these
chapters are quite short, it has proved itself to be a fertile ground from which many
of the central tenets of Christian doctrine have sprouted. This fruitful text has also
spurred a variety of differing interpretations of the Creation and Fall. Augustine of
Hippoand Lady Julian of Norwich are two theologians who interpreted Genesis 1 3 in
vastly different ways. The aim of this paper is to make a thematically organized
comparison of Julian of Norwich s interpretation (which is mostly apparent within her
short parable on the Lord and the Servant, Revelations of Divine Love) with
Augustine s influential interpretation of Genesis 1 3. While Augustine s
interpretation is a classic understanding of the Fall that has had a lasting impact on
Western society, in contrast Julian s nuanced understanding of the Fall has had little
influence in most subsequent theological thought until relatively recently. Indeed, it
wasn t until the 20th century that her work began to be broadly in circulation. Even
in modern reflections on her theology, many scholars underappreciate or
misunderstand her theology. Some theologians even suggest that she is moving
towards unorthodoxy. Additionally, although Julian of Norwich is held in high
esteem by many scholars and non scholars, she is not always recognized as a highly
complex
47. Horrific Affect of Pestcides in A Fable for Tomorrow from...
Everyday people all over the world try to improve the qualities of their lives.
Nonetheless, they forget that what they do can have severe harms and damages on
the environment and other organisms. In the excerpt A Fable for Tomorrow from the
book Silent Spring, Rachel Carson describes the disastrous and horrific effects of
pesticides on the environment and animals of the town. In the essay Our Animal
Rites by Anna Quindlen, she shows the inhumanity of animal huntingby human.
Furthermore, she argues how human migration is destroying the natural habitats that
belong to the animals. In the excerpt Reading the River from the autobiographical
book Life on Mississippi, Mark Twain describes how he loses the ability to perceive

This suggests that the roadsides was once beautiful and bloomed with healthy and
lively vegetation; however, they are now destroyed due to the use of pesticides. From
these examples, it can be shown that even though pesticide is beneficial, its deadly
effects outweigh its benefits; in addition, it is a dangerous substances to the
environment, organisms, and even human. Animal hunting is not only inhumane but
can also lead to the extinction of many species. In the essay Our Animal Rites ,
Quindlen asserts that it is pathetic to consider the firepower the hunters use in order
to bring down one fair sized deer (33). In this quote, she explains that the use of
firepower by human to kill innocent animals is unfair and heartrending. Furthermore,
Quindlen describes that even though the bears are killed by the smiling and
triumphant hunters after the three bear days in the autumn, the bears look more
dignified than they do (33). This suggests that hunting animals is not entertaining but
rather unacceptable and disgraceful. Furthermore, many species can become extinct
due to excessive hunting. In an ecology class, I learned that the extinction rate of
species each year is approximately two hundred to two thousand each year. This is an
extremely high and alerting rate since there is only around two million species that
has been scientifically identified on the planet. In these examples, it can be concluded
that the hunting of innocent animals is atrocious and

49. Week One Study Guide Anatomy and Physiology Essay
WEEK 1: AN INTRODUCTION TO HUMAN ANATOMY PHYSIOLOGY
1. Define the terms anatomy and physiology, and explain their relationship using an
example of a human structure with its corresponding function. Anatomy: The branch
of science concerned with the bodily structure of humans, animals, and other
organisms, esp. as revealed by dissection. Physiology: The branch of biology that
deals with the normal functions of living organisms and their parts. Anatomy and
physiology are connected in the way of not being able to understand one without the
other. For example, to understand your lungs functions of breathing through
physiology, you have to understand the parts and structure of them (anatomy) such as
the bronchial tree and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

different body parts using these terms (i.e. the elbow is proximal to the wrist).
Anterior: (In front of, front) The toes are anterior to the heel when you look
straight at a body. Posterior: (After, behind, following, toward the rear) The lungs
are posterior to the ribcage. Distal: (Away from, farther from the origin) The skull
is distal from the pelvic bone. Proximal: (Near, closer to the origin) The nose is
proximal to the mouth. Dorsal: (Near the upper surface, toward the back) Your
spine is dorsal. Ventral: (Toward the bottom, toward the belly) The intestines have
a ventral location. Superior: (Above, over) The elbow is superior to the pelvic
bone. Inferior: (Below, under) The femur is inferior to the ribcage. Lateral:
(Toward the side, away from the mid line) The ribs are lateral. Medial: (Toward the
mid line, middle, away from the side) Your sternum is medial. Rostral: (Toward the
