Analytical Response Essay
Writing an analytical response essay can be a challenging task that demands a combination of
critical thinking, analytical skills, and effective communication. The difficulty lies in the need to
not only comprehend the source material thoroughly but also to craft a well-structured and
coherent response that showcases a deep understanding of the content.
One of the challenges is the requirement to analyze the given text or topic critically. This
involves delving into the nuances of the arguments presented, identifying key themes, and
evaluating the evidence provided. It requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to connect
various elements to form a comprehensive understanding.
Additionally, expressing one's thoughts in a clear and organized manner is crucial. The essay
should have a strong thesis statement, well-supported arguments, and a logical flow. Balancing
the use of evidence and personal interpretation while maintaining an academic tone can be a
delicate task.
Furthermore, time management is a significant factor. Writing an analytical response essay
necessitates careful planning to ensure that there is enough time for researching, outlining,
drafting, and revising. Meeting deadlines while producing a high-quality piece adds to the
complexity of the task.
In conclusion, crafting an analytical response essay is no simple feat. It demands a combination
of intellectual skills, writing proficiency, and time management. However, with dedication and
practice, one can develop the necessary skills to tackle such essays successfully.

The Decisive Outcome Of The Napoleonic Wars
Thesis Statement:
This paper shall attempt to show the reasons for the need of this campaign and why
this campaign was important to the decisive outcome of the Napoleonic Wars [1787
1815].
Historical Background:
In 1803, the War of the Third Coalition began against France. In this coalition, the
powers of the United Kingdom, Austria, Russia, and Sweden went to war against
France to reestablish order on the old continent of Europe. In the War of the Third
Coalition two major battles of the Napoleonic wars were seen: Austerlitz and
Trafalgar both were decisive in their tides of the war efforts. In the end, Austria
would be forced into a surrender, and the Confederation of the Rhine would occur.
This would leave the United Kingdom as one of the few states at war with France
for the safety of Europe. By 1808, Napoleon was marching on many of the old states
(again): Austria, Prussia, and Spain. With the French invasion of Spain and Portugal,
the British were forced to send troops to the Iberian Peninsula. Following a series of
defeats and almost the complete loss of Lisbon, the United Kingdom placed Arthur
Wellesley (who would later become known as the Duke of Wellington) in command
of the Iberian Forces for the defense of Portugal, thereby, beginning the great
campaign in Spain, known only as, the Peninsula Campaign. The reason for the
historical significance of the Peninsula Campaign of 1808 to 1814 is thusly this: with
growing number of British troops in the underbelly of

of CoverGirl Lipstick Ad Introduction CoverGirl Lipstick A Flipstick
Advertisements are messages that are intended to influence their audience. Their
sole purpose is to raise awareness of the existence of their product in the people
whom they target and to promote the benefits of buying or using it. In our society,
many people are trying to transform themselves into someone they are pretending
to be. This may be for many reasons, but the main reason is because of influence
from the media or different kinds of advertisements. This is especially the case for
most of the women. There is a phrase Beauty is as beauty does . This is a phrase that

I think the advertisers have smartly incorporated her face in the advertisement. Her
facial expression is trying to attract the female generation to notice her lips. The
colours have been specifically chosen. The model has brown hair and this has been
used as a background for the image of the product. Everything has been kept
natural like her skin colour and the background. Having everything on the page
quite natural makes the lips stand out more because they are darker than the rest
of the skin and have a reddish colour. The use of light colors, very large text and a
very close up picture of the model to show how the different shades of lipstick will
bring out a person s eye. This makes them the first thing you notice on the page.
Text The text in the advertisement helps to persuade the consumers to buy the
product. The brand name is CoverGirl and this itself suggests that the product if of
good quality because Covergirl is a known cosmetic company, known for being
used by makeup artists and a good value brand of makeup. Advertisement uses
various techniques in their text to attract the audiences and convey the message.
Text written in bold under the images makes the ad very attractive. Advertisers are
introducing their new product with the help of text. Text like double your lip color
and blast flipstick makes the ad very interesting. The text tells that the blend of two
lipsticks will give new color to their lips every day and will customize their
Why I Become A Nurse
Why I Want to Become A Nurse
When people ask me the question, Jas, why do you want to be a nurse? The first
answer that comes to mind would be the generic answer, Because I want to help
people. However, during the process of being in Lower Division and competing
with almost 400 other students with the hopes of being accepted into Upper
Division my mindset has changed. After studying my hardest through each class I
am in and overcoming the challenges that come with each one, I am more
determined than ever to be a nurse, more specifically a Traveling Registered Nurse,
and I will not let anything stop me from reaching that goal. Ever since I was
younger my parents have taught me to share, be caring, and always have a giving
heart. As I went through high school I knew I wanted to be in the medical profession
but I could not decide where. After attending a Career Center for two years and
attaining my certification to be a Nursing Assistant, I knew nursing was the career I
wanted to pursue. Nursing was the best fit for my personal values, financial
commitment of the present and the future, and the ability to travel. According to the
American Nurses Association (2015), nursing is described as the prevention of illness
and injury while alleviating any suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of an
individual. Nurses will also advocate for the care of each individual, families,
communities, and even populations (American Nursing Association, 2015). All the

Summertime schedule
10am 9.30pm = 12 hours
1600 passengers X 12 hours = 19,200 passengers for 12 hours/day.
19,200 passengers X 7 days = 134,440 passengers per week.
Summer weeks = 24 weeks.
Therefore total capacity for the summer is:
134,440 passengers per week X 24 weeks = 3,225,600 passengers
Winter Schedule

Galoob Case Study
Discussion on court rulings: Fair use perspective The district court concluded that
Galoob is not liable for copyright infringement under U.S. Code В§ 107, a fair use
defense against direct infringement claim of Nintendo s copyrighted works. In
determining fair use factors, the court has greatly relied on the supreme court ruling
in the court case Sony v. Universal City Studios. (1984) in the context of contributory
infringement. The doctrine of fair usestates that any individual may reproduce a
copyrighted work for a fair use and that the copyrightowner does not possess the
exclusive right to such a use. Thus, permitting the holder of the copyrighted material
to use it in a reasonable manner without the consent of the copyright owner. In
determining Galoob s fair use of Nintendo s copyrighted video games, the courts
considered the following four fair use factors.

character of the use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reason being, the use of Game Genie by the consumers is intended for private and
non commercial purposes only. Moreover, Galoob is neither a direct or contributory
infringer of Nintendo s copyrighted works. The Ninth Circuit court also affirmed
with the district court s judgement in favor of Galoob, stating that Galoob did not
violate any Nintendo s copyrights but rather constituted fair use under copyright law.
Therefore, Galoob is not entitled to either temporary or permanent injunction. The
court also emphasized the importance of innovation and the need to allow
innovative ideas stating that Game Genie is an important innovation. I agree with
the court comments since any acts that would suppress Galoob s Game Genie is a
suppression of innovative ideas which would freeze the free flow of information,

Analysis of Girls Like Us by Rachel Lloyd
This week s reflection is on a book titled Girls Like Us and it is authored by Rachel
Lloyd. The cover also says fighting for a world where girls not for sale . After reading
that title I had a feeling this book was going to be about girls being prostituted at a
young age and after reading prologue I sadly realized I was right in my prediction.
The prologue starts with the description about a girl who likes swimming,
SpongeBob, Mexican food, writing poetry and getting her nails painted. To a
normal person this sounds like a normal description for a little girl but normal is not
the adjective to describe this girl because this little girl has been trafficked (or
prostituted) by her 29 year old pimp on Craiglist to adult men. When I read ... Show

It s just all a sickening thought to me.
There was also Tiffany in the first chapter whose pimp cut her so bad that she had
to have her hair shaved off in order to get some consistency in it. Tiffany did not
have a drug problem but the author talked about how it was hard to find her
placement because she wasn t on drugs so Tiffany turned to drugs so she could
receive help. The thought of someone having to turn to drug just to they could
receive help is sad because it s like what would happen if they were living a normal
life that did not involve drugs, pimps, and johns.
There is another quote that in interesting to me in this book and it is from Jon
Stewart who is an Academy Award Winner and he states You know what I think it
just got a little easier out here for a pimp and that quote says a lot as well because
there aren t very many pimps that do get in trouble for their crimes in my opinion. I
read more about prostitutes and the men trying to pick them up getting arrested than
I do pimps. There was one girl the book who talked about how she got in trouble for
killing her abusive boyfriend yet nothing happened to him. It s an angry thought at
how men who are so evil can get away with it but their victims get in legal trouble.
I am not going to describe every chapter and quote in the book but I will say there
is a lot of information to be learned from this book. I did not know much about child
trafficking prior to sitting down to read this book.
Welfare Of The Welfare State
The welfare state in Britain as we know it today did not exist, looking back through
the 18th and 19th Centuries many of the social welfare benefits that are available to
Britain s today were not even imaginable to the people at that time. Today much of
the help that is available to those in the margins of society is seen as an obligation
for the state to correct. However in the Elizabethan Era the attitudes towards welfare
and the poor were very negative and unsympathetic. In this essay I will be discussing
welfare before the classic welfare state, the provisions for poor, the key features of
the welfare state and why it was developed.
The key features of the welfare state are very linked to the 1942 report on Social
Insurance and Allied Services or also known as the Beveridge Report. The key
features I have identified of the classic welfare state is the National Health Service
(NHS), Social insurance, Housing, Education and Full employment. Asa Briggs a
British historian defined the welfare state as a state which ...organised power is
deliberately used in order to play of the market in 3 direction; by guaranteeing an
individuals a minimum income, narrowing extent of insecurity by enabling people
to meet certain social contingencies which lead to family or individual crisis and
thirdly by ensuring that all citizens without distinction of status or class are offered
the best standards available to a certain agreed range of social services . Kauffman

Therefore, we are not discouraged; rather, although our outer self is wasting away,
our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this momentary light affliction is
producing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not
to what is seen but to what is unseen; for what is seen is transitory, but what is
unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16 18)
Two Sundays ago we read the Gospel of Matthew during mass:
Jesus said to the Twelve: Fear no one. Nothing is concealed that will not be
revealed, nor secret that will not be. What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the
light; what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. And do not be afraid of
those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can
destroy both soul and body in Gehenna (Matt 10:26 28).
Father Joe, explained to us about how sometimes our lives are driven by fear, parents
are afraid of their kids, we are afraid of not conforming to our society.
As we reflect on our own fears. What do I fear as teenager, as a mom, as a teacher..?
How can we be find the courage and understanding to deal with our personal
situations? Without knowing we have all faced and overcame many adversities and
when we looked back and reflect upon it we ask ourselves. How did I do it? How did
I find the courage?
So we are always courageous, although we know that while we are at home in the
body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight.
Singing Is A Universal Language
Singing is a universal language. It is a way of human s self expression. A way in
which you can show your emotion, idea, feelings, enjoyment and satisfaction. From
the article of journal week, some feel personal satisfaction when singing because it is
a fun way to express themselves or perhaps internalize the song. Singingis defined as
the production of musical tones by means of the human voice. The parts of the human
body, specifically the lungs, voice box, larynx, stomach, the tongue and lips are also

(2015) the choral ensemble, as a vehicle for group instruction, provides an exciting
and powerful means of creating music, however it shows absolute challenges when
attempting to assess the achievement of its individual members. A quality choir

another key characteristic of choir singing is that the members must be able to
sing as a group as well as the capability to sing individually and must better know
their own part. This would mean that they need to be well synchronized, starting
and ending parts in unison or in a specific timing. The blending of their voices and
being sensitive as to fit other s voices is much important. To be more organized,
most of the group must have a leader. A leader for soprano, alto, tenor, and bass
especially during rehearsal. It is also to identify the strengths and weaknesses of
each member. One good advantage of assigning a member of the choir to be the
leader is to help them further develop their musicality and leadership as well as to

Centripetal Acceleration Lab Report
Introduction: As objects move in a circular motion or change direction, they are
accelerating, this form of acceleration is known as centripetal acceleration (ac). The
direction of the acceleration is always towards the centre of the circle. Centripetal
acceleration can be represented by the formula ac=V2r=42rT2=42rf2. In these
formulas, v is the velocity, r is the radius of the circle, T is the period, and f is the
frequency. Furthermore, velocity can be represented by the following equations
v=2rT=2rf. In order to calculate frequency, the free body diagram must be taken into
consideration in order to calculate the forceof tension. In this lab, the force of tension
and gravity are assumed to be the only forces. Furthermore, the... Show more content

As a result of this, the stopper will complete the necessary rotations in fewer seconds.
Finally, in turn, this allows the frequency to increase as the radius decreases, proving
they are inversely proportional.
Finally, the frequency and the mass of the spinning object (rubber stopper) are
inversely proportional to one another specifically that as the mass increases, the
frequency decreases. As the spinning mass s weight increases, it would take more
force to rotate it causing it to slow down. These larger time intervals would
drastically decrease the frequency as the growing mass would result in a lower
frequency.
Experimental Design: A hanging mass was connected to a string that passed through
a hollow tube that had a rubber stopper connected to the string on the other side of
the tube. A person held the glass tube and spun the string above their head so the
rubber stopper would spin and raise the hanging mass at a constant radius from the
hollow tube.
Independent Variables: Tension from the hanging mass, the radius, and the mass of
the rubber stopper.
Dependent Variables: Frequency of the rotations
Controlled Variables: Gravity, and the apparatus

Bowling For Columbine Narrative Structure Essay
Narrative Structure in Michael Moore s
Bowling for Columbine
Michael Moore is a documentary film maker known for his controversial opinions
and subject matter. This documentary, Bowling for Columbine (2002), is Moore s
second major film. It was named in response to the 1999 Columbine High School
massacre in which two boys went on a shooting spree, thirteen people were killed
and upwards of twenty were wounded. The two boys were reported to have spent the
morning before the massacre bowling. Despite its title, Moore s documentary focuses
on the broader issues of gun control and gun violence in America rather than just the
case of the Columbine boys.
As with the majority of his films, Michael Moore casts himself as the main focaliser
in Bowling for Columbine although there are other more minor characters (i.e. the
boys who were victims of Columbine) who assist through interviews. Repeatedly
the audience is asked what America s exponential gun violence can possibly be
attributed to, as Moore provides several possible culprits. The viewer follows
Moore s personal, often satirical, vendetta to reveal the flaws of the NRA (National
Rifle Association), and America s gun laws as a whole. But the more important,
underlying problem Moore depicts is the state of fear American citizens live. It is a

Charles Sellers The Market Revolution Summary
Sellers, Charles. The Market Revolution: Jacksonian America, 1815 1846. New
York: Oxford University Press, 1991. The Market Revolution attempts to look at the
United States in its most critical period. Beginning after the United States victory in
the War of 1812, the focus shifts to how the United States will undergo rapid change
with a new generation of Americans taking part in an emerging free market economy.
The Market Revolution is written by Charles Sellers, a professor at the University of
California, Berkeley. Sellers is an American history professor who has done extensive
research of the nineteenth century United States. This century saw the transformation
of the United States from an agrarian republic into an industrialized entrepreneurial
power. Facing an identity crisis with the emergence of the free market as well as
politics between the Federalists and Jeffersonian republicans is the beginning of
Sellers thesis. With a focus on how the free market is responsible for this
transformation, Sellers focuses on the family structure of the American society from
subsistent farms... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bringing a new viewpoint on the nineteenth century allows a reader to see through
the position of eternal class struggle. With new perspective, Sellers interprets his
sources well to support his thesis through the use of topics that fit the spectrum of left
wing ideology. The book remains an important source in nineteenth century, but the
reader must be prepared to endure the repetition of Marxist terminology. The Market
Revolution shows the transformation of the United States during the nineteenth
century through a Marxist lens where capitalism was seen as the cause of
abandonment on the foundations of previous society relating to subsistent farmers
and the family structure. History is written as fact, but Sellers uses his personal
ideals to show the fledging republic s free market obsession in a new
The Effects Of Dietary Supplement Use On Heat Injuries...
My practical experience was done at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. I worked with
LTC Sheryl Bedno, who is the Chief of Preventive Medicine here at Ft. Bragg. My
role was as an observer on an ongoing study titled, Dietary Supplement use on Heat
Injuries among Military Personnel . The study was conducted by administering
surveys to soldiers that were being seen by medical staff at the Department of
Preventive Medicine.
The goals were to be able to understand what the possible effects of dietary
supplement use are on the body, especially during extreme heat, to find out why
soldiers decided on using supplements. To achieve these goals, I observed each
survey that was administered and took mental note of their responses (as I was
prohibited from writing in the participant s presence). I did additional research and a
literature review on methods of use, reasons for use, dangers of use and alternatives
to using. The intention of the study was to find a more effective way for physicians
to treat heat injuries.
The popular supplement ingredient, 1,3 dimethylamine (DMAA) was linked to
several fatalities and as a result was put on a medical hold in 2012 by the Food and
Drug Administration. The ingredient was later banned for use in any supplement. In
March of 2012, two Army soldiers died during a workout in which both had
reportedly taken supplements that had DMAA in it.1
Events like that cannot be allowed to occur on a continual basis. Unregulated dietary
supplement use is an

economy. Real GDP per capita grew at 2.25 percent per year, along with a large
number of American citizens entering the middle class with the ability to enjoy
benefits from rising wages and home ownership (Palley 1). It seemed as though there
would be no end to this post war economic boom; however, the Golden Age of
Capitalism would abruptly end at the onset of the seventies with a variety of factors
contributing to economic downturn. The lengthy expansion during the sixties was
brought to end due to rising inflation, with the annual consumer price inflation up to
six percent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inflation continued to remain as an issue, not falling nearly as advisers expected
(Madrick 58). Martin was fired by President Nixon, after refusing to play with
politics throughout his tenure as Federal Reserve Chairman. In November of
1970, Arthur F. Burns was appointed by Nixon to succeed Martin (Abrams 177).
Although qualified, Burns would soon be subjected to orders from Nixon, who
wanted to resolve the inflation issue and make the economy seem strong to voters
in the upcoming re election (Bresiger 1). In order to counter stagflation, Nixon
began to implement a series of economic measures known as the Nixon shock.
Nixon first suspended the convertibility of dollars to gold and officially closed the
gold window. This would cause the American dollar to devalue, stimulating
American exports as a result but further contributing to inflation with increase prices
on imports. Nixon s second measure was to impose a wage price freeze over a
period of ninety days, which restrained inflation and allowing most prices to remain
constant (Madrick 59).
With inflation temporarily under control, Nixon began implementing an
expansionary policy to stimulate the economy out of a recession. Nixon began raising
Social Security benefits, increasing business tax credits on business investment, and
reducing personal tax rates for individuals. Burns pushed for a lower interest rate,
decreasing from 5.5 percent to 3.25 percent (Madrick
The Cultural Theory Of Masako Odawa s Culture
Masako Odawa was Harvard and Oxford educated, spoke five languages and held a
position as a career diplomat in Foreign Ministry with many possibilities for a
bright future. However, at 29 she gave all that up to marry Crown Prince Naruhito.
Western observers criticized her decision, they viewed her choice as an attack on
her personal freedom since. However, to Japanese, Masako s decision was a natural
consequence of her role, as a daughter and as a member of the royal family. Culture,
thus, plays a crucial role in interpreting a situation. The values of a society influence
the creation of the self concept and choice of the individual. Masako s choice aligned
with the values of her culture. Cultural differences are present when a choice is made
and the interpretation of it. However, to better understand this, this paper will explore
the cultural differences found in self esteemand cognitive dissonance.
The self esteem motive is people s need to see themselves as good, competent and
descent. Self esteem is constructed by the individual, a person s self concept
develops in part by the thinking styles and values of the culture they belong or
identify with. While maintaining a positive self image is the basic tenant, having a
high self of esteem has a myriad of benefits; it protects people against thoughts of
their mortality, let s them feel more optimistic towards the future, motivates people to
persevere in challenging situations, and allows them to set higher goals for
Hunters On Mango Street
The Hunters on Mango Street
The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros is a coming of age story. The main
character, Esperanza, is a young Latina girl. Supernatural is the story of two brothers
hunting monsters. The main characters, Sam and Dean, travel the U.S. saving lives.
A lot of people say that The House on Mango Street is A deeply moving novel
(Miami Herald cover), but I think Sam s story is more moving and inspirational tale.
Esperanza lived in the ghetto while in sharp contrast Sam grew up moving from
motel to motel. While Esperanza faced the many problems that girls face, Sam was
busy facing abuse from his father and bullying. Esperanza shows how she doesn t
get along well with her siblings when she says Carlos and Kiki are
Clayton Wilkins Autobiography
When I was a child the atmosphere of baseball was almost intoxicating to me. The
scent of freshly cut grass as it tickles your nose, the sound of the ball whooshing
through the air from the mound to the catchers glove, and the sudden crack of the
bat as it knocks the little leather ball hundreds of feet out into the park. All of my
senses are in full joyous glee when I am surrounded by that environment.
Unfortunately, I only got to enjoy this atmosphere from the bleachers. I was born
with many medical issues, one of which being asthma that did not particularly like the
freshly cut grass tickling my nose. I would spend my time in the stands watching my

so the relationship seemed to spark instantly. Clayton took me under his wing and
became a father figure that I was not use to having around in my life. Every
Sunday at my grandmother s house, we would waste the day away with the sounds
of our voices. We would discuss about our favorite team the Oakland A s and how
much we despised the New York Yankees. Clayton had kept me happier that I could

Slavery Is The Key For Achieving Freedom
In today s society, we take many things for granted because they come easy to us.
Education, in many of our lives, is something that is dreaded, something that we do
only because we have to. But 200 years ago, things were much different. Slavery
unfortunately existed in our society, and slaves weren t granted the gift of education.
By not having an education, they were not able to completely understand their
situation, and therefore unable to get out of it. Slaves had a limited option in
achieving freedom, and in order to do so, they had to become educated, enough to be
able to understand slavery, and they had to be religious to be able to see through the
hypocrisy of the religious slaveholders.
For slaves, education is the key to achieving freedom. It develops one s sense of
curiosity, and allows the mind to question things, and to develop it s own ideas
and opinions. For slaves, the gift of education was rare, but if one was lucky
enough to have it, they began to see the true nature of slavery, and it made them
more likely to try and become free. When Frederick Douglass was a young boy, he
befriended a few white children who gave him a glimpse of what having an
education is like. When remembering this important time in his life, he says, With
their kindly aid, at different times and different places, I finally succeeded in
learning to read (66 67). The young boys gave Douglass a book, called the
Columbian Orator, the first book he had ever laid hands on. This
Vacation Bible School
I grew up in the St. Louis suburb of Eureka, where I still live today. If you ever
look at me and wonder where that scar on my forehead came from, well it
happened when I was roughly 12 months old when I fell out of a moving car. My
parents raised me as a Methodist at the Eureka United Methodist Church. During my
years attending Geggie Elementary School, every Sunday my parents would force
me to get out of bed and go to Church with them. During church, all the children
would go to Sunday school while the parents were listening to the sermon. In Sunday
school, we had a teacher, sometimes my mom, who would give out fun church
related activities. However, I did not enjoy doing that mostly because it involved
getting out of bed early and since I did not like the subject matter either, but at that
age, children do not fully grasp the importance of attending church and... Show more

to officially become a member of the Church. During this time, I was also baptized

my early high school years my family, including myself, became disconnected from
the church because we got busier with academics and sports, which left less time for
Church. However, I did go on mission trips with the church, one to Virginia Beach in

Maintaining Information Stored On A User Freedom
Without...
Operating systems have to provide a level of security to allow a user freedom
without someone seeing them making a purchase online. An attacker would find
that purchase made very valuable, they can acquire that information. From threats
and attacks which could allow sensitive information to be looked at or taken. The
idea of an OS having a built in security levels is now a very crucial task. This helps
to secure information to not be looked at. Securing information stored and
allowing only certain users to look at it are the main components to protect. Now,
computers and technology are a part of our everyday life that we do not see the
protection happening in the background. To understand this more, information that
is stored in a database, on a computer, through emails and websites are all examples
of secure information. An OS needs to have different levels of security built in that
helps protect this sensitive information. For some users and companies, they have
very personal information stored on their computer. Even for a regular user, an
email should not be read when it is sent to someone. A computer stores what is
sent, if an attacker was able to get past the password they would get that
information. Making purchases online with a credit card should not be found or
easily accessible. On a company s side, they could hold up to millions of user s
personal information such as social security numbers, and information about you.

Pure And N-Dop-Tio2 Np Case Study
In this study, the effects of pure and N dopped TiO2 NPs on the growth and
viability of MCF 7 cell line were assessed through trypan blue exclusion and MTT
assay. Furthermore, induction of apoptosis in IC50 concentrations of both pure and N
doped TiO2 NPs investigated via AO/EtBr staining. Eventually for confirming
apoptosis occurrence DNAfragmentation assay had been utilized.
The effects of pure and N doped TiO2 NPs on the growth and viability of MCF 7 cell
line:
The results of trypan blue exclusion and MTT assay highlighted that efficacy of N
TiO2 NPs in killing or growth inhibition of MCF 7 cells enhanced when these NPs
excited in presence of visible light and in a dose and time dependent manner. Our
results also demonstrated that in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Assessment of apoptosis occurrence through fluorescent microscopy:
As Fig. 6 illustrated, N TiO2 NPs induce (either early or late) apoptosis in IC50
concentrations. Which, control cells were green since AO penetrated to intact
membrane, and apoptotic cells (in 10Вµg/ml and 100Вµg/ml) appeared in red
color due to formation of apoptotic bodies that displayed as red color with
fragmented chromatins. Whereas, IC50 concentrations of TiO2 NPs had different
functions on MCF 7 cell line. They caused apoptosis in 10Вµg/ml but in 100Вµg
/ml bright green and orange points appeared simultaneously in cells (Fig. 7), that as
Moosavi et al reported recently, AO stain in acidic conditions (like increase of acidic
vacuale during autophagy) enable to become orange and it is irrelevant to the usual
staining pattern of AO/EtBr staining[25]. Murugan et al also demonstrated the
induction of apoptosis in MCF 7 cell line that caused by IC50 concentrations of TiO2
NPs through fluorescent microscopy[38].
DNA fragmentation assay:
To verify induction of apoptosis, we made use of DNA fragmentation assay. We
demonstrated that N TiO2 NPs were more successful in induction of DNA damage
compared to TiO2 NPs. According to Fig. 9 DNA damage (ladder pattern) obviously
was distinguishable with 10Вµg/ml of N TiO2 NPs.
The Classroom That I Completed My Field Experience

The classroom that I completed my field experience in was a self contained ninth
through twelfth grade. The class consists of four male students, a teacher, and two
paraprofessionals. The students in the classroom have severe behaviors that do not
allow them to be successful in a regular classroom. I completed the observation
over a period of four days. The first day that I went to observe was in the morning
from 8:30 to 9:30. When I arrived, the students were leaving the cafeteria from eating
breakfast. Once they got to the classroom, they unpacked their backpacks, putting
their agendas and folders into a basket on that is on the teacher s desk. The students
then sat down at their desk and began working on the morning journal. The journal
topic for the day was What is your favorite subject? Why? One of the students wrote
his journal within ten minutes, while it took the other students about thirty minutes
for them to complete the journal. One of the students in the class kept getting out of
his seat to come and talk to the teacher and paraprofessional. He wanted them to take
a picture of him. They would tell him no and that he needed to return to his seat. He
sat there for the whole thirty minutes and only wrote a few words down on his paper.
Asking to have his picture taken is something that he asked them about ten or more
times a day. At 9:00, the paraprofessional transitioned the students into a Language

The Pros And Cons Of The Juvenile Justice System
Blended sentencing laws which give courts discretion in some cases to impose
juvenile and/or adult sentences on young offenders became popular during the
1990s as a means of broadening the spectrum of available sanctions. These laws
variously allow courts to impose: 1. An adult or a juvenile sentence; 2. Both a
juvenile and an adult sentence; or 3. A sentence that exceeds the normal limit of
juvenile court jurisdiction. Since 2002, Ohio has provided a blended sentencing
alternative for designated serious youth offenders, who receive both a juvenile and
an adult sentence. The Ohio sentencing alternative was modeled on Minnesota s
blended sentencing alternative, referred to as Extended Juvenile Jurisdiction (EJJ).
Under this system, the suspended adult system sentence may be imposed if the
offender does not comply with the terms of the juvenile court sentence. The
Minnesota and Ohio alternatives are sometimes referred to as a last chance for
young offenders to remain in the juvenile justice system. Both states have retained
the traditional option of transfer to adult court for serious juvenile offenders.
Researchers who have studied how prosecutorial decisions are made under these
systems generally assume that prosecutors use a two step process whereby they first
decide whether a particular case involving a juvenile defendant will be prosecuted in
juvenile court or motioned for a specialized processing track. In the second stage,
prosecutors decide whether

Comparing Notre Dame Mass And The Kyrie Of Palestrina s
Agnus Dei of Guillaume Machaut s Notre Dame Mass and the Kyrie of Palestrina s
Pope Marcellus Mass is similar in that both have a polyphonic texture throughout the
piece. The pieces have three different sections that repeat the same text. Both pieces
also call forth the spirit of a Gregorian Chant. Not only are they polyphonic, but also
they are part of the five sung prayers of the Ordinary Mass. Both pieces have inspired
some of the greatest chorale work.
Machaut composed his piece during the mid fourteenth century and it is one of the
most well known compositions of the Middle Ages. It holds a great historical

In the recording used, the mass is performed by the Hilliard Ensemble, using six
unaccompanied male voices. Agnus Dei is a solemn and elaborate piece that is in
triple meter. In the mass, two lower voices, one being a tenor, sing a theme based
upon a rhythmically altered Gregorian Chant, known as cantus firmus. While the two
lower voices sing a cantus firmus, the upper voice parts are rhythmically active and
use syncopation. These four parts create complex rhythmic patterns that contribute to
its intensity. The harmonies of Machaut s piece contain dissonances, hollowing
sounding chords and full triads. Mchaut uses musical elements in his performances
like syncopation, dissonance and church modes. Church Modes consist of seven
different tones and an eight tone that dupicates the first an octave higher. The
patterns of whole and half steps in church modes are different from those of major
and minor scales. The mass is in three sections, and in each section, the same text
appears. The text is only different when miserere nobis changes to dona nobis pacem
in the third section of the mass. Section A and B are alike in mood, rhythm, and
texture and end with a hollow sounding
Abraham Lincoln s Second Debate
In the effort to secure their own appointments to the U.S. Senate, Abraham Lincoln
and Stephen Douglas squared off in a series of seven debates in 1858. In the 1850s,
America was facing a political crisis, and slavery was threatening to tear the nation
apart. There were seven debates that took place between Abraham Lincolnand
Stephen Douglas. The two candidates for Senate challenged the other s ideas about
many topics but the most import was, slavery and its future in the United States.
Before the first debate took place, Abraham Lincoln addressed a crowd in Chicago,
which is known famously as the House Divided Speech. In his speech, Lincoln
attacked the doctrine of popular sovereignty. He said that it had clearly failed in its

From August 21 until October 15, Stephen Douglas battled Abraham Lincoln in
face to face debates all around the state. The prize they sought to win was a seat in
the Senate. The debates were to be held at 7 locations throughout Illinois. During
the debates, Douglas still advocated popular sovereignty, which meant to maintain
the right of the citizens of a territory to permit or prohibit slavery. It was, a sacred
right of self government, or so he said. Lincoln proceeded to point out that Douglas
s position directly challenged the Dred Scott decision. This in which decreed that the
citizens of a territory had no such power. In what became known as the Freeport
Doctrine. Douglas replied that whatever the Supreme Court decided was not as
important as the actions of the citizens. If a territory refused to have slavery, no laws,
no Supreme Court ruling, would force them to permit it. Over and over again,
Lincoln made that point that a house divided could not stand. Douglas refuted this by
saying that the founders, left each state perfectly free to do as it pleased on the
subject. Lincoln felt that blacks were entitled to the rights enumerated in the
Declaration of Independence, which include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Douglas argued that the founders

Problem Areas Nonnative Speakers of English Often Have...
INTRODUCTION
Pronunciation is an essential part of language. According to Fries (1945), the main
problem in learning a new language is not the vocabulary but it is instead the
mastery of the sound system, which is to understand the stream of speech and to
hear distinctive sound features. Pronunciation is important to avoid
misunderstandings when communicating. It is seen as a prerequisite for the
development of speaking skill (Celce Murcia Goodwin, 1991). Pronunciation,
according to Microsoft Encarta 2007, means the way in which a sound, word, or
language is articulated, especially in conforming to an accepted standard .

Word stress is important in English since misunderstandings can occur because of
mistakes in word stress. Stressing on wrong points in English sometimes makes
words in English meaningless. For example, if one is given two words metal and
motel with stress on the second syllable, it will be pronounced /mә tæl/ and
/ma:tУ™l/. When this pronunciation is applied in a sentence like, I carried the metal
to the motel , then the sentence becomes confusing and meaningless.
Another feature of the English language that should be noted by nonnative speakers
is that pronouncing the same word with stresses on different syllables can alter the
meaning of the word. For example, if the word permit is stressed on the first
syllable, it will become noun, and if on the second syllable, the word becomes a verb.
According to Mennen (2006), second language learners often have problems placing
stresses at the correct syllable, especially in the beginning of the learning process.
This is because some languages do not use stress much and some, like Japanese and
French, none at all (EnglishClub.com, 2007). This means that each syllable of words
is pronounced with equal emphasis. It would be difficult for the nonnative speakers
to identify which syllable should be stressed or not. This will lead to
misunderstandings when speaking to native speakers as they usually listen to the
stresses to understand the real message conveyed.

Analysis Of August Wilson s Fence

The play Fence by August Wilson s has a connection with real world fence. The
yard is a small dirt yard, partially fenced, except for the last scene, with a wooden
sawhorse, a pile of lumber, and other fence building equipment set off to the side.
The Opposite is a tree from which hangs a ball made of rags. A baseball bat leans
against the tree. Two oil drums serve as garbage receptacles and sit near the house at
right to complete the setting (Wilson 2). He mentions that the fence has three parts
open, unopened and cornerstone. The word yard and fence are symbolically
represented structure and dream of country, society and Troy s family.

white people. If their equipment that prepared for you to change the old fence the

immigrants had solidified the industrial might of America (Wilson 3). The old
fence replaced by the new fence in 1957, but still, there is some problem between
old and new fences. The old fence is trying to decompose the new like himself and
the new fence also does not use his ability, power and time to fight against the old
fence.
Troy s family also can be represented by the yard and fence. The Troy s family can
signify by three parts opened fence, fenced and cornerstone of fence. Troy s has
five dependent as a member of family, including himself: Lyon s, Corry, Rose, and

Traditional Gender Roles In Society
Imagine a world that s been evolved enough to forget traditional gender roles. A
world where people break from the molds and liberate themselves. That would be
progressive and productive. That is the kind of world that the future of our people
should strive for. Maybe there was a time that the human race needed these roles to
establish themselves, but now the times have changed. One by one, the stigmas
are breaking. Despite this, some molds are harder to break and need a little more
cracking to release the people from that specific roles. There are many categories
of which gender and culture can be dissected and redirected to a more progressive
outlook. (may have to take that out) To go into specifics, traditional gender roles in
the United States are inhibiting the progression of equal wages, social
expectations, and self acceptance. For decades, America has upkept traditional
gender roles. For example, one would have seen a family consisting of a man and
woman and a child or two. The man would go to work and ultimately be the sole
breadwinner of the family whilst the woman would take care of the children. Her
job would also entail cleaning the home and providing supper for her family when
her husband arrived home. Men would be thought to fix cars and build things whilst
females were given baby dolls and taught how to become a good mom. Men are
taught to toughen up and to stop crying. Often times, they aren t consoled properly if
they do happen to show any emotion that
Extrinsic Motivation And Intrinsic Motivation
Each of the jobs requires a great amount of hard work, dedication, and varying
skills and abilities depending on the tasks they are performing. Each of the different
jobs conducted within our charitable organization include task identity, each worker
must complete their specific portion of work from beginning to end, to then pass it
on to the next employee so in the end they are all able to see a tangible result. Each
of the jobs within our charitable ogranization include the first three core job
characteristics, having skill variety, task identity, as well as a high level of task
significance.
The five employees working at our charitable agency have the ability to affect the
lives of many families, and even the ability to change people s lives and get them the
help that they need. Our agency has the ability to affect the lives of other people in a
positive way, which leads to intrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation occurs when
the employees have positive internal feelings that are generated by doing well, rather
than being dependent on external factors like incentive pay or compliments from the
boss, leading to motivation to work effectively.

previously, the five employees at our charitable agency for the most part have a high
level of skill variety, task identity, and task significance, but the two core job

Napoleon Bonaparte s invasion of Russia was a major factor in his downfall. In 1812,
Napoleon, whose alliance with Alexander I had disintegrated, launched an invasion
into Russia that ended in a disastrous retreat from Moscow. Thereafter, all of Europe,
including his own allies, Austria and Prussia, united against him. Although he
continued to fight, the odds he faced were impossible. In April 1814, Napoleon s own
marshals refused to continue the struggle and stepped down from their positions.
During the actual Russian campaign, there were many key factors that greatly
impacted his downfall.
The largest army ever assembled for one single invasion was reduced to a mere
fraction of its original size. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The artillery and small arms were years behind that of France. The Russian army
was a conscription army, meaning that local farmers had to furnish a certain
number of surfs for military service, as opposed to a professional, trained army
where the government supplies the soldiers with all of their needs. An amazing
half million soldiers had enlisted in Napoleon s Grand ArmГ©e (Saglamer,
Beginning of the March). This was the largest army gathered for one single
invasion. Russia s army was out numbered 3:1 with only one hundred seventy
thousand soldiers. Not only was the Russian army not well trained, they were also
ill equipped. Napoleon recognized that it would be difficult and extremely slow
for Russia to mobilize her army due to her enormous size and weak infrastructure.
If Napoleon invaded now, he knew that he could be well into the Russian territory
before meeting any major opposition. On June 24, 1812, Napoleon began his fatal
Russian campaign. The Grand ArmГ©e, led by Napoleon, crossed the Nieman
River, into Russia. On the journey to Moscow, Napoleon met virtually no major
opposition. The first stop in the campaign was Kovono. Early into the campaign, the
Grand ArmГ©e was affected by a colic epidemic that claimed the life of nine
thousand horses and thousands of soldiers (Web, Russian Embassy). This slowed the
pace of the army. Harsh weather conditions caused the dry roads to turn to mud,
making it extremely difficult to maneuver the
Short Story Of Exotar
Out with the trash
They were blinded by myths. They thought they were here to protect us. They
followed them without question.
Desmond was one of the only people who wasn t fooled by their lies. For months he
had been searching for an exit from Exotar. There had been escape attempts from
Exotar before, yet no one had made it beyond the wall. The wall stood 150 feet tall
and was capped by a thick, heavily tinted glass roof, which inclosed thousands of
slave driven families. Each day they were forced to work in their family s assigned
profession. No Choice. No Freedom. After Desmond s parents were shot he ran.
He hid. He remained under the radar for two years, scavenging for any food he
could grasp and searching for a passage out of the prison like environment. For a
lifetime, Desmond believed there was no entry or exit from Exotar. Until Now....

Four guards and a city of surveillance stood between him and his one way ticket
beyond the wall. No one knew what was behind the wall, some townsfolk believed
there wasn t anything at all. Was there life outside of the wall? Why weren t we
allowed out? A void of unanswered questions flooded Desmond s mind which pushed
him to escape.
A small group of cooks approached the trash chute while being escorted by another
four guards. You couldn t go anywhere in Exotar without a guard. They constantly
watched you. Whether you were at work or home they d be there. The guards at the
trash chute spread. One by one each cook slowly shrugged up to the trash chute and
disposed of their waste. From two years of searching, this was the singular place
Desmond had found that was directly exposed to whatever was out
Ernest Hemingway s The Old Man And The Sea
Ernest Hemingway was a renaissance man whose accomplishments include a
Bronze Star for his bravery during World War II in 1947, the Pulitzer prize for
Fiction in 1953 for The Old Man and the Sea, and finally the Nobel Prize in
literature for his mastery of the art of narrative, most recently demonstrated in The
Old Man and the Sea , and for the influence that he has exerted on contemporary
style . Hemingway s legacy as one of the key figure of The Lost Generation of great
artists was solidified by his famous works such as A Farewell to Arms, and The Nick
Adam s Stories, however, the inspiration for these titles came from Hemingway s
personal experiences in war, love, and life. Having experienced World War I and II
firsthand Hemingway had both strong political views and harrowing details of war
that he needed to convey to his audience. Through his new form of prose that used
succinct declarative sentences combined with compelling stories Hemingway s
writing served as an inflection point for future literature.
No one ever accused Hemingway of being a lazy or cowardly man. Aside from
publishing seven novels, six short story collections, and two non fiction works
Hemingway lived his life like an action hero. Hemingway grew up with a love for
hunting and fishing in his families Upper Michigan cabin. At the age of 18he
enlisted with the Red Cross and became the first American to be injured on the
Italian front lines and earning the Italian Medal for bravery. He became
Inclusive or Universal Disign
What is inclusive design and to what extent are we as interior designers and
architects successful at designing these spaces? Inclusive or universal design is
the design of a product or a service to accommodate as large a percentage of the
population as possible, including but not limited to, those with disabilities. It aims
to remove the barriers in products and services that create undue separation and
enables everyone to participate equally with ease and confidence. This does not
end at ergonomics and anthropometrics, inclusive design includes signage, lighting,
material choices and colour contrasts. By designing a space inclusively, it can be
used with confidence and comfort by people with disabilities, both physical and
mental, the elderly and people with young children. Any frustration or caution can
be overcome by inclusive design. At some point in their life everyone will
experience a moment of limited mobility whether it s dragging a large suitcase
around at an airport, pushing a pram or using a wheelchair. It is important that
these issues are thought through and addressed early on in the design process. This
means, where possible, designing inclusively from the very outset of the design
process, and where not possible, adapting existing spaces as best we can. This
demand began in the 1990s in response to a growing awareness of the ageing
population and an aspiration by people with disabilities to be included in the use of
mainstream spaces. This sparked a change
T-V-Pointer Experience
Firstly I would like to start off by mentioning I am an Engineer so my week was
different than the rest of my shipmates however, I think the trip was an invaluable
resource, especially as a senior, keeping my skills sharp for the merchant fleet I
will soon be joining. Every time I take a trip on the T/V Kings Pointer I am
impressed at how my shipmates and I are able to safely navigate and operate a
vessel. This is a true testament to the education we receive at the Academy and
during our time at Sea. With great weather, our time in Virginia was just as
impressive when pulling into Norfolk harbor. Seeing the stern of the USS
Wisconsin, as a relic of one of the greatest vessels our American Shipyards have
produced, was just icing on the cake compared to the Countless US Naval
destroyers and cruisers and aircraft carriers we passed while transiting the
Chesapeake bay and Elizabeth river. The best part of it all was seeing the US
Merchant fleet at its finest with the bustling ports of the tidewater... Show more

In particular, I was able to put in to practice knowledge I learned about overhauling
pumps and working against a clock while trying to get the stern thruster in a capacity
where it could be used for DP operations. The maintenance task became more
challenging when things didn t go as planned, but as an engine department we
adapted to the situation and came up with a solution that was ultimately better than
the initial plan. The US Merchant Marine Academy is defiantly a unique experience
and it is not just for anyone. Trips like the ones that take place on the T/V Kings
Pointer require midshipman that are diligent, committed, and personable in a close
quarters environment but at the same time our ability to stay composed under
pressure and perform exceptionally well is what sets a true Kings Pointer
The Great Gatsby Color Analysis
Outline Thesis: The symbolic meaning of the colors: green, red, white and yellow,
in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, serve to reveal the core issues that
Gatsby, Daisy, and Tom have. I.The green color, which associates with Gatsby,
shows that he has fear of intimacy and unstable sense of self as core issues and he
unconsciously uses denial as a defense mechanism. a)He lives a life of loneliness;
he keeps himself away from people and from any kind of relationships. 1.In his
parties, for example, he doesn t appear to his guests most of the time. 2.When Nick
is about to call him he doesn t do that because Gatsby gave a sudden intimation that
he was content to be alone (16) b)His hopeless hope to reach the green light forces...

Getting married to Daisy not because of love but because she represent social
superiority. b)Talking about and showing off his wealth and possessions reveals
that he is egotist. 1.When Nick visits his cousin Daisy for the first time Tom
welcomes him by turning him around in his mansion and talking about it. For
example he tells Nick that he has a nice place in the east (7). 2.When Gatsby visits
Tom s palace he also suggests to get him outside in order to have a look at the place
(75), he, also, tells him that he is the first man who ever made a stable out of a
garage (75). III.The white color, which associates with Daisy, plays as an ironic
symbol that reveals her fear of intimacy as core issue. a)She got married to Tom
not because she loves him but to keep herself from loving Gatsby. 1.She intends to
call off her marriage to Tom just before one day of it when she receives a letter
from Gatsby as Jordan has said that Daisy requires from her to tell them all Daisy s
changes her mind (49). 2.She doesn t give attention to her daughter, Pampy, she
gives the mother role to the nurse to look after her. b)IV.The golden color which
comes from yellow is common among Gatsby, Daisy and Tom and it represents both
money and
The Individuals With Disabilities Education Act Essay
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a four part piece of
American legislation that ensures students with disabilities will receive a Free
Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) that meets their individual needs. From 1975
to 1990, IDEA was known as the Education for All Handicapped Children Act
(EHA). In 1990, the United States Congress reauthorized EHA and changed the title
to IDEA (Public Law No. 94 142). This law had a dramatic, yet positive impact on
millions of children with disabilities in every state and local community across the
country. Overall, the goal of IDEA is to provide disabled students with the same
educational opportunities as those without disabilities. Although the laws governing
special educationstudents have changed over the past thirty six years, very little has
changed in school districts special education departments. Why is this? What factors
must be present at the district level for successful change to occur? Perhaps the
answer has to do with how district leadershiphandles change. Unfortunately, many
school district leaders are not equipped to lead change. With no special training and
faced with making difficult decisions, leaders struggle to implement a sustainable
plan that benefits individual students needs. To step back and see the big picture
takes expert leadership.
Review of scholarly literature
Perhaps no American institution has been reformed more often, with less apparent
effect, than schools (Evans, 2011,

  • 3. The Decisive Outcome Of The Napoleonic Wars Thesis Statement: This paper shall attempt to show the reasons for the need of this campaign and why this campaign was important to the decisive outcome of the Napoleonic Wars [1787 1815]. Historical Background: In 1803, the War of the Third Coalition began against France. In this coalition, the powers of the United Kingdom, Austria, Russia, and Sweden went to war against France to reestablish order on the old continent of Europe. In the War of the Third Coalition two major battles of the Napoleonic wars were seen: Austerlitz and Trafalgar both were decisive in their tides of the war efforts. In the end, Austria would be forced into a surrender, and the Confederation of the Rhine would occur. This would leave the United Kingdom as one of the few states at war with France for the safety of Europe. By 1808, Napoleon was marching on many of the old states (again): Austria, Prussia, and Spain. With the French invasion of Spain and Portugal, the British were forced to send troops to the Iberian Peninsula. Following a series of defeats and almost the complete loss of Lisbon, the United Kingdom placed Arthur Wellesley (who would later become known as the Duke of Wellington) in command of the Iberian Forces for the defense of Portugal, thereby, beginning the great campaign in Spain, known only as, the Peninsula Campaign. The reason for the historical significance of the Peninsula Campaign of 1808 to 1814 is thusly this: with growing number of British troops in the underbelly of

CoverGirl Lipstick- A Flipstick To:Bill Pore From:Tushar Verma Date:February 15, 2013 Subject:Gender Analysis of CoverGirl Lipstick Ad Introduction CoverGirl Lipstick A Flipstick Advertisements are messages that are intended to influence their audience. Their sole purpose is to raise awareness of the existence of their product in the people whom they target and to promote the benefits of buying or using it. In our society, many people are trying to transform themselves into someone they are pretending to be. This may be for many reasons, but the main reason is because of influence from the media or different kinds of advertisements. This is especially the case for most of the women. There is a phrase Beauty is as beauty does . This is a phrase that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think the advertisers have smartly incorporated her face in the advertisement. Her facial expression is trying to attract the female generation to notice her lips. The colours have been specifically chosen. The model has brown hair and this has been used as a background for the image of the product. Everything has been kept natural like her skin colour and the background. Having everything on the page quite natural makes the lips stand out more because they are darker than the rest of the skin and have a reddish colour. The use of light colors, very large text and a very close up picture of the model to show how the different shades of lipstick will bring out a person s eye. This makes them the first thing you notice on the page. Text The text in the advertisement helps to persuade the consumers to buy the product. The brand name is CoverGirl and this itself suggests that the product if of good quality because Covergirl is a known cosmetic company, known for being used by makeup artists and a good value brand of makeup. Advertisement uses various techniques in their text to attract the audiences and convey the message. Text written in bold under the images makes the ad very attractive. Advertisers are introducing their new product with the help of text. Text like double your lip color and blast flipstick makes the ad very interesting. The text tells that the blend of two lipsticks will give new color to their lips every day and will customize their

The first answer that comes to mind would be the generic answer, Because I want to help people. However, during the process of being in Lower Division and competing with almost 400 other students with the hopes of being accepted into Upper Division my mindset has changed. After studying my hardest through each class I am in and overcoming the challenges that come with each one, I am more determined than ever to be a nurse, more specifically a Traveling Registered Nurse, and I will not let anything stop me from reaching that goal. Ever since I was younger my parents have taught me to share, be caring, and always have a giving heart. As I went through high school I knew I wanted to be in the medical profession but I could not decide where. After attending a Career Center for two years and attaining my certification to be a Nursing Assistant, I knew nursing was the career I wanted to pursue. Nursing was the best fit for my personal values, financial commitment of the present and the future, and the ability to travel. According to the American Nurses Association (2015), nursing is described as the prevention of illness and injury while alleviating any suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of an individual. Nurses will also advocate for the care of each individual, families, communities, and even populations (American Nursing Association, 2015). All the descriptions

  • 10. Galoob Case Study Discussion on court rulings: Fair use perspective The district court concluded that Galoob is not liable for copyright infringement under U.S. Code В§ 107, a fair use defense against direct infringement claim of Nintendo s copyrighted works. In determining fair use factors, the court has greatly relied on the supreme court ruling in the court case Sony v. Universal City Studios. (1984) in the context of contributory infringement. The doctrine of fair usestates that any individual may reproduce a copyrighted work for a fair use and that the copyrightowner does not possess the exclusive right to such a use. Thus, permitting the holder of the copyrighted material to use it in a reasonable manner without the consent of the copyright owner. Therefore, Galoob is not entitled to either temporary or permanent injunction. • 11. Analysis of Girls Like Us by Rachel Lloyd This week s reflection is on a book titled Girls Like Us and it is authored by Rachel Lloyd. The cover also says fighting for a world where girls not for sale . After reading that title I had a feeling this book was going to be about girls being prostituted at a young age and after reading prologue I sadly realized I was right in my prediction. The prologue starts with the description about a girl who likes swimming, SpongeBob, Mexican food, writing poetry and getting her nails painted. To a normal person this sounds like a normal description for a little girl but normal is not the adjective to describe this girl because this little girl has been trafficked (or prostituted) by her 29 year old pimp on Craiglist to adult men. When I read ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s just all a sickening thought to me. There was also Tiffany in the first chapter whose pimp cut her so bad that she had to have her hair shaved off in order to get some consistency in it. Tiffany did not have a drug problem but the author talked about how it was hard to find her placement because she wasn t on drugs so Tiffany turned to drugs so she could receive help. The thought of someone having to turn to drug just to they could receive help is sad because it s like what would happen if they were living a normal life that did not involve drugs, pimps, and johns. There is another quote that in interesting to me in this book and it is from Jon Stewart who is an Academy Award Winner and he states You know what I think it just got a little easier out here for a pimp and that quote says a lot as well because there aren t very many pimps that do get in trouble for their crimes in my opinion. I read more about prostitutes and the men trying to pick them up getting arrested than I do pimps. There was one girl the book who talked about how she got in trouble for killing her abusive boyfriend yet nothing happened to him. It s an angry thought at how men who are so evil can get away with it but their victims get in legal trouble. I am not going to describe every chapter and quote in the book but I will say there is a lot of information to be learned from this book. I did not know much about child trafficking prior to sitting down to read this book.
  • 12. Welfare Of The Welfare State The welfare state in Britain as we know it today did not exist, looking back through the 18th and 19th Centuries many of the social welfare benefits that are available to Britain s today were not even imaginable to the people at that time. Today much of the help that is available to those in the margins of society is seen as an obligation for the state to correct. However in the Elizabethan Era the attitudes towards welfare and the poor were very negative and unsympathetic. In this essay I will be discussing welfare before the classic welfare state, the provisions for poor, the key features of the welfare state and why it was developed. The key features of the welfare state are very linked to the 1942 report on Social Insurance and Allied Services or also known as the Beveridge Report. The key features I have identified of the classic welfare state is the National Health Service (NHS), Social insurance, Housing, Education and Full employment. Asa Briggs a British historian defined the welfare state as a state which ...organised power is deliberately used in order to play of the market in 3 direction; by guaranteeing an individuals a minimum income, narrowing extent of insecurity by enabling people to meet certain social contingencies which lead to family or individual crisis and thirdly by ensuring that all citizens without distinction of status or class are offered the best standards available to a certain agreed range of social services . For this momentary light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to what is seen but to what is unseen; for what is seen is transitory, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16 18) Two Sundays ago we read the Gospel of Matthew during mass: Jesus said to the Twelve: Fear no one. Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be. What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light; what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna (Matt 10:26 28). What do I fear as teenager, as a mom, as a teacher..? How can we be find the courage and understanding to deal with our personal situations? Without knowing we have all faced and overcame many adversities and when we looked back and reflect upon it we ask ourselves. How did I do it? How did I find the courage? • 16. Centripetal Acceleration Lab Report Introduction: As objects move in a circular motion or change direction, they are accelerating, this form of acceleration is known as centripetal acceleration (ac). The direction of the acceleration is always towards the centre of the circle. Centripetal acceleration can be represented by the formula ac=V2r=42rT2=42rf2. In these formulas, v is the velocity, r is the radius of the circle, T is the period, and f is the frequency. Furthermore, velocity can be represented by the following equations v=2rT=2rf. In order to calculate frequency, the free body diagram must be taken into consideration in order to calculate the forceof tension. As a result of this, the stopper will complete the necessary rotations in fewer seconds. Finally, in turn, this allows the frequency to increase as the radius decreases, proving they are inversely proportional. Finally, the frequency and the mass of the spinning object (rubber stopper) are inversely proportional to one another specifically that as the mass increases, the frequency decreases. As the spinning mass s weight increases, it would take more force to rotate it causing it to slow down. These larger time intervals would drastically decrease the frequency as the growing mass would result in a lower frequency. Experimental Design: A hanging mass was connected to a string that passed through a hollow tube that had a rubber stopper connected to the string on the other side of the tube. A person held the glass tube and spun the string above their head so the rubber stopper would spin and raise the hanging mass at a constant radius from the hollow tube. • 17. Bowling For Columbine Narrative Structure Essay Narrative Structure in Michael Moore s Bowling for Columbine Michael Moore is a documentary film maker known for his controversial opinions and subject matter. This documentary, Bowling for Columbine (2002), is Moore s second major film. It was named in response to the 1999 Columbine High School massacre in which two boys went on a shooting spree, thirteen people were killed and upwards of twenty were wounded. The two boys were reported to have spent the morning before the massacre bowling. Despite its title, Moore s documentary focuses on the broader issues of gun control and gun violence in America rather than just the case of the Columbine boys. As with the majority of his films, Michael Moore casts himself as the main focaliser in Bowling for Columbine although there are other more minor characters (i.e. the boys who were victims of Columbine) who assist through interviews. Repeatedly the audience is asked what America s exponential gun violence can possibly be attributed to, as Moore provides several possible culprits. The viewer follows Moore s personal, often satirical, vendetta to reveal the flaws of the NRA (National Rifle Association), and America s gun laws as a whole. Beginning after the United States victory in the War of 1812, the focus shifts to how the United States will undergo rapid change with a new generation of Americans taking part in an emerging free market economy. The Market Revolution is written by Charles Sellers, a professor at the University of California, Berkeley. Sellers is an American history professor who has done extensive research of the nineteenth century United States. This century saw the transformation of the United States from an agrarian republic into an industrialized entrepreneurial power. • 19. The Effects Of Dietary Supplement Use On Heat Injuries... My practical experience was done at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. I worked with LTC Sheryl Bedno, who is the Chief of Preventive Medicine here at Ft. Bragg. My role was as an observer on an ongoing study titled, Dietary Supplement use on Heat Injuries among Military Personnel . The study was conducted by administering surveys to soldiers that were being seen by medical staff at the Department of Preventive Medicine. The goals were to be able to understand what the possible effects of dietary supplement use are on the body, especially during extreme heat, to find out why soldiers decided on using supplements. To achieve these goals, I observed each survey that was administered and took mental note of their responses (as I was prohibited from writing in the participant s presence). The Golden Age Of Capitalism The decades following the Second World War, often referred as the Golden Age of Capitalism, brought an immeasurable amount of prosperity to the United States economy. Real GDP per capita grew at 2.25 percent per year, along with a large number of American citizens entering the middle class with the ability to enjoy benefits from rising wages and home ownership (Palley 1). It seemed as though there would be no end to this post war economic boom; however, the Golden Age of Capitalism would abruptly end at the onset of the seventies with a variety of factors contributing to economic downturn. The lengthy expansion during the sixties was brought to end due to rising inflation, with the annual consumer price inflation up to six percent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inflation continued to remain as an issue, not falling nearly as advisers expected (Madrick 58). Martin was fired by President Nixon, after refusing to play with politics throughout his tenure as Federal Reserve Chairman. In November of 1970, Arthur F. Burns was appointed by Nixon to succeed Martin (Abrams 177). Although qualified, Burns would soon be subjected to orders from Nixon, who wanted to resolve the inflation issue and make the economy seem strong to voters in the upcoming re election (Bresiger 1). In order to counter stagflation, Nixon began to implement a series of economic measures known as the Nixon shock. Nixon first suspended the convertibility of dollars to gold and officially closed the gold window. This would cause the American dollar to devalue, stimulating American exports as a result but further contributing to inflation with increase prices on imports. Nixon s second measure was to impose a wage price freeze over a period of ninety days, which restrained inflation and allowing most prices to remain constant (Madrick 59). With inflation temporarily under control, Nixon began implementing an expansionary policy to stimulate the economy out of a recession. Nixon began raising Social Security benefits, increasing business tax credits on business investment, and reducing personal tax rates for individuals. Burns pushed for a lower interest rate, decreasing from 5.5 percent to 3.25 percent (Madrick

The Cultural Theory Of Masako Odawa s Culture Masako Odawa was Harvard and Oxford educated, spoke five languages and held a position as a career diplomat in Foreign Ministry with many possibilities for a bright future. However, at 29 she gave all that up to marry Crown Prince Naruhito. Western observers criticized her decision, they viewed her choice as an attack on her personal freedom since. However, to Japanese, Masako s decision was a natural consequence of her role, as a daughter and as a member of the royal family. Culture, thus, plays a crucial role in interpreting a situation. The values of a society influence the creation of the self concept and choice of the individual. Masako s choice aligned with the values of her culture. Cultural differences are present when a choice is made and the interpretation of it. However, to better understand this, this paper will explore the cultural differences found in self esteemand cognitive dissonance. The self esteem motive is people s need to see themselves as good, competent and descent. Self esteem is constructed by the individual, a person s self concept develops in part by the thinking styles and values of the culture they belong or identify with. While maintaining a positive self image is the basic tenant, having a high self of esteem has a myriad of benefits; it protects people against thoughts of their mortality, let s them feel more optimistic towards the future, motivates people to persevere in challenging situations, and allows them to set higher goals for

Education, in many of our lives, is something that is dreaded, something that we do only because we have to. But 200 years ago, things were much different. Slavery unfortunately existed in our society, and slaves weren t granted the gift of education. By not having an education, they were not able to completely understand their situation, and therefore unable to get out of it. Slaves had a limited option in achieving freedom, and in order to do so, they had to become educated, enough to be able to understand slavery, and they had to be religious to be able to see through the hypocrisy of the religious slaveholders. For slaves, education is the key to achieving freedom. It develops one s sense of curiosity, and allows the mind to question things, and to develop it s own ideas and opinions. For slaves, the gift of education was rare, but if one was lucky enough to have it, they began to see the true nature of slavery, and it made them more likely to try and become free. When Frederick Douglass was a young boy, he befriended a few white children who gave him a glimpse of what having an education is like. When remembering this important time in his life, he says, With their kindly aid, at different times and different places, I finally succeeded in learning to read (66 67). The young boys gave Douglass a book, called the Columbian Orator, the first book he had ever laid hands on. This

  • 29. The Pros And Cons Of The Juvenile Justice System Blended sentencing laws which give courts discretion in some cases to impose juvenile and/or adult sentences on young offenders became popular during the 1990s as a means of broadening the spectrum of available sanctions. These laws variously allow courts to impose: 1. An adult or a juvenile sentence; 2. Both a juvenile and an adult sentence; or 3. A sentence that exceeds the normal limit of juvenile court jurisdiction. Since 2002, Ohio has provided a blended sentencing alternative for designated serious youth offenders, who receive both a juvenile and an adult sentence. The Ohio sentencing alternative was modeled on Minnesota s blended sentencing alternative, referred to as Extended Juvenile Jurisdiction (EJJ). Under this system, the suspended adult system sentence may be imposed if the offender does not comply with the terms of the juvenile court sentence. The Minnesota and Ohio alternatives are sometimes referred to as a last chance for young offenders to remain in the juvenile justice system. Both states have retained the traditional option of transfer to adult court for serious juvenile offenders. Researchers who have studied how prosecutorial decisions are made under these systems generally assume that prosecutors use a two step process whereby they first decide whether a particular case involving a juvenile defendant will be prosecuted in juvenile court or motioned for a specialized processing track. In the second stage, prosecutors decide whether

While the two lower voices sing a cantus firmus, the upper voice parts are rhythmically active and use syncopation. These four parts create complex rhythmic patterns that contribute to its intensity. This in which decreed that the citizens of a territory had no such power. In what became known as the Freeport Doctrine. According to Fries (1945), the main problem in learning a new language is not the vocabulary but it is instead the mastery of the sound system, which is to understand the stream of speech and to hear distinctive sound features. Pronunciation is important to avoid misunderstandings when communicating. It is seen as a prerequisite for the development of speaking skill (Celce Murcia Goodwin, 1991). Pronunciation, according to Microsoft Encarta 2007, means the way in which a sound, word, or language is articulated, especially in conforming to an accepted standard . According to Hinofotis and Bailey (1981, as cited by Celce Murcia and Goodwin, 1991), one will not be able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Word stress is important in English since misunderstandings can occur because of mistakes in word stress. Stressing on wrong points in English sometimes makes words in English meaningless. For example, if one is given two words metal and motel with stress on the second syllable, it will be pronounced /mә tæl/ and /ma:tәl/. When this pronunciation is applied in a sentence like, I carried the metal to the motel , then the sentence becomes confusing and meaningless. Another feature of the English language that should be noted by nonnative speakers is that pronouncing the same word with stresses on different syllables can alter the meaning of the word. For example, if the word permit is stressed on the first syllable, it will become noun, and if on the second syllable, the word becomes a verb. According to Mennen (2006), second language learners often have problems placing stresses at the correct syllable, especially in the beginning of the learning process. This is because some languages do not use stress much and some, like Japanese and French, none at all (EnglishClub.com, 2007). This means that each syllable of words is pronounced with equal emphasis. It would be difficult for the nonnative speakers to identify which syllable should be stressed or not. This will lead to misunderstandings when speaking to native speakers as they usually listen to the stresses to understand the real message conveyed. INTONATION The final problem that has been

The Russian army was a conscription army, meaning that local farmers had to furnish a certain number of surfs for military service, as opposed to a professional, trained army where the government supplies the soldiers with all of their needs. An amazing half million soldiers had enlisted in Napoleon s Grand ArmГ©e (Saglamer, Beginning of the March). This was the largest army gathered for one single invasion. Russia s army was out numbered 3:1 with only one hundred seventy thousand soldiers. Not only was the Russian army not well trained, they were also ill equipped. Napoleon recognized that it would be difficult and extremely slow for Russia to mobilize her army due to her enormous size and weak infrastructure. If Napoleon invaded now, he knew that he could be well into the Russian territory before meeting any major opposition. On June 24, 1812, Napoleon began his fatal Russian campaign. The Grand ArmГ©e, led by Napoleon, crossed the Nieman River, into Russia. On the journey to Moscow, Napoleon met virtually no major opposition. The first stop in the campaign was Kovono. Early into the campaign, the Grand ArmГ©e was affected by a colic epidemic that claimed the life of nine thousand horses and thousands of soldiers (Web, Russian Embassy). This slowed the pace of the army. Harsh weather conditions caused the dry roads to turn to mud, making it extremely difficult to maneuver the

Desmond was one of the only people who wasn t fooled by their lies. For months he had been searching for an exit from Exotar. There had been escape attempts from Exotar before, yet no one had made it beyond the wall. The wall stood 150 feet tall and was capped by a thick, heavily tinted glass roof, which inclosed thousands of slave driven families. Each day they were forced to work in their family s assigned profession. No Choice. No Freedom. After Desmond s parents were shot he ran. He hid. He remained under the radar for two years, scavenging for any food he could grasp and searching for a passage out of the prison like environment. For a lifetime, Desmond believed there was no entry or exit from Exotar. Until Now.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Four guards and a city of surveillance stood between him and his one way ticket beyond the wall. No one knew what was behind the wall, some townsfolk believed there wasn t anything at all. Was there life outside of the wall? Why weren t we allowed out? A void of unanswered questions flooded Desmond s mind which pushed him to escape. A small group of cooks approached the trash chute while being escorted by another four guards. You couldn t go anywhere in Exotar without a guard. They constantly watched you. Whether you were at work or home they d be there. The guards at the trash chute spread. One by one each cook slowly shrugged up to the trash chute and disposed of their waste. From two years of searching, this was the singular place Desmond had found that was directly exposed to whatever was out

Ernest Hemingway s The Old Man And The Sea Ernest Hemingway was a renaissance man whose accomplishments include a Bronze Star for his bravery during World War II in 1947, the Pulitzer prize for Fiction in 1953 for The Old Man and the Sea, and finally the Nobel Prize in literature for his mastery of the art of narrative, most recently demonstrated in The Old Man and the Sea , and for the influence that he has exerted on contemporary style . Hemingway s legacy as one of the key figure of The Lost Generation of great artists was solidified by his famous works such as A Farewell to Arms, and The Nick Adam s Stories, however, the inspiration for these titles came from Hemingway s personal experiences in war, love, and life. Having experienced World War I and II firsthand Hemingway had both strong political views and harrowing details of war that he needed to convey to his audience. Through his new form of prose that used succinct declarative sentences combined with compelling stories Hemingway s writing served as an inflection point for future literature. No one ever accused Hemingway of being a lazy or cowardly man. Aside from publishing seven novels, six short story collections, and two non fiction works Hemingway lived his life like an action hero. Hemingway grew up with a love for hunting and fishing in his families Upper Michigan cabin. At the age of 18he enlisted with the Red Cross and became the first American to be injured on the Italian front lines and earning the Italian Medal for bravery. He became
  • 43. Inclusive or Universal Disign What is inclusive design and to what extent are we as interior designers and architects successful at designing these spaces? Inclusive or universal design is the design of a product or a service to accommodate as large a percentage of the population as possible, including but not limited to, those with disabilities. It aims to remove the barriers in products and services that create undue separation and enables everyone to participate equally with ease and confidence. This does not end at ergonomics and anthropometrics, inclusive design includes signage, lighting, material choices and colour contrasts. By designing a space inclusively, it can be used with confidence and comfort by people with disabilities, both physical and mental, the elderly and people with young children. Any frustration or caution can be overcome by inclusive design. At some point in their life everyone will experience a moment of limited mobility whether it s dragging a large suitcase around at an airport, pushing a pram or using a wheelchair. It is important that these issues are thought through and addressed early on in the design process. This means, where possible, designing inclusively from the very outset of the design process, and where not possible, adapting existing spaces as best we can. This demand began in the 1990s in response to a growing awareness of the ageing population and an aspiration by people with disabilities to be included in the use of mainstream spaces. This sparked a change

T-V-Pointer Experience Firstly I would like to start off by mentioning I am an Engineer so my week was different than the rest of my shipmates however, I think the trip was an invaluable resource, especially as a senior, keeping my skills sharp for the merchant fleet I will soon be joining. Every time I take a trip on the T/V Kings Pointer I am impressed at how my shipmates and I are able to safely navigate and operate a vessel. This is a true testament to the education we receive at the Academy and during our time at Sea. With great weather, our time in Virginia was just as impressive when pulling into Norfolk harbor. Seeing the stern of the USS Wisconsin, as a relic of one of the greatest vessels our American Shipyards have produced, was just icing on the cake compared to the Countless US Naval destroyers and cruisers and aircraft carriers we passed while transiting the Chesapeake bay and Elizabeth river. The best part of it all was seeing the US Merchant fleet at its finest with the bustling ports of the tidewater... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In particular, I was able to put in to practice knowledge I learned about overhauling pumps and working against a clock while trying to get the stern thruster in a capacity where it could be used for DP operations. The maintenance task became more challenging when things didn t go as planned, but as an engine department we adapted to the situation and came up with a solution that was ultimately better than the initial plan. The US Merchant Marine Academy is defiantly a unique experience and it is not just for anyone. Trips like the ones that take place on the T/V Kings Pointer require midshipman that are diligent, committed, and personable in a close quarters environment but at the same time our ability to stay composed under pressure and perform exceptionally well is what sets a true Kings Pointer

  • 46. The Individuals With Disabilities Education Act Essay The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a four part piece of American legislation that ensures students with disabilities will receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) that meets their individual needs. From 1975 to 1990, IDEA was known as the Education for All Handicapped Children Act (EHA). In 1990, the United States Congress reauthorized EHA and changed the title to IDEA (Public Law No. 94 142). This law had a dramatic, yet positive impact on millions of children with disabilities in every state and local community across the country. Overall, the goal of IDEA is to provide disabled students with the same educational opportunities as those without disabilities. Although the laws governing special educationstudents have changed over the past thirty six years, very little has changed in school districts special education departments. Why is this? What factors must be present at the district level for successful change to occur? Perhaps the answer has to do with how district leadershiphandles change. Unfortunately, many school district leaders are not equipped to lead change. With no special training and faced with making difficult decisions, leaders struggle to implement a sustainable plan that benefits individual students needs. To step back and see the big picture takes expert leadership. Review of scholarly literature Perhaps no American institution has been reformed more often, with less apparent effect, than schools (Evans, 2011,
