Analysis Of Kelly Sue Deconnick s Bitch Planet
Contextualizing a Visual Motif In Bitch Planet by Kelly Sue DeConnick there is another world built
through the cartoon. Women are dictated by their fathers, or controlling men of the society, and
punished for being obese or not what the men perceive as perfect. It brings the reader into a futurist
world which has some of the same twisted ideas of the modern world. It enlarges the idea that bigger
women are unwanted and sexualizes thin women in advertisements and in casual conversation. This is
can be seen throughout multiple panels of the comic. The comic is repetitively sexualizing the thin
women and shamming the bigger women with the use of language and background images. There are
two images of a woman eating food in a seductive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Celebrities everywhere are cutting out things from their diet that they do not need to in order to lose
weight. Thousands of people will also starve themselves because they think that it helps them to lose
weight, but it just hurts their body more. The writer exemplifies the problems in today s pop culture to
a new level to allow the reader to see how insane it really is. On the next page we can see the men
casually speaking poorly of the bigger woman who is working. One of them talks about having sex
with a skin and saying how wild it is while smiling and sipping on his coffee with no cares about who
overhears him (DeConnick 195). It shows how the men have little shame in what they say and are
proud of themselves for doing such things. Directly after that there is a close up of the larger woman.
This forces the reader to focus on her face and her face alone. From this image you can see the pure
anger and frustration in her face from what these men are saying. By using this tactic, the writer is
amplifying the emotion in order to ensure that the reader does not have a chance to miss this important
detail. Following that we see the news report continue on about the parasite conveying it in a way that
is positive and makes it sound as if it is something that everyone should experience. By using words
like wish and dream come true (DeConnick 194) they make it seem like a positive even though it is

Inspired By Van Gogh
This painting was inspired by Van Gogh numerous paintings of flowers (usually sunflower) in vases.
This piece was made in a face to face art class, where one of my first projects was a to paint a piece
modeled after any work from an artist of my choice. Flowers are something I have always drawn or
painted, usually my go to, so this seemed like an obvious choice for me. Unfortunately, I am unable to
find the original painting I was examining for my project, but Van Gogh had many pieces under that
particular style. That being said, I started with a standard pencil to do the sketching as usual. Later
when it came to painting, we diluted the paint with oil and used a mixing spatula too. Over the entire
course of creating the piece, I was adding

Henry Ford Started the Car Revolution
Henry Ford Who is the person that started the car revolution? Who is the person that introduced us to
the world of automobiles? The answer is Henry Ford. Henry Ford was a successful man that created
the Ford automobile. Henry Ford s company is still making great profit in business. Henry Ford
wanted to stop World War II by creating tanks, jeeps, and other armed forces but it still didn t work.
Still, Ford s automobiles were affordable and he became a very rich and a well known man. Henry has
achieved the creation of the V8 engine and was able to build the model T in 24 seconds with the
assembly line that he introduced. Because of the assembly line, there were people that called him
Liner. These are only two of the many achievements that Henry Ford had. Henry Ford s life was an
unexpected journey for both the people and him. Many events occurred to him that changed his life
such as becoming very wealthy. It was hard for Ford to start from the beginning. Henry Ford s early
life was a life that wasn t expected from a noble man such as him. Henry Ford was born on a farm in
Greenfield Township, Michigan, in July 30, 1863 and died in Fair Lane, Michigan in April 7, 1947.
Henry Ford s father was William Ford, who married Mary Ford. Henry Ford s father gave him a
watch, which made him later gain the reputation for fixing watches in his neighborhood. In 1879,
Henry Ford left home and started his career as a mechanist. He first started operating steam engines,

What Is Jerry s Symbolism In Through The Tunnel
JERRY s CHALLENGE Tunnels can be strange for some people, but seeing a tunnel at the bottom of
the ocean is very strange for Jerry. Jerry is on a vacation with his mother and goes out every morning
to the rocks diving and swimming with the older kids throughout the day. Doris lessing describes Jerry
as a kid who challenges himself against a strange looking tunnel in her story Through The Tunnel
through the use of symbolism in the setting, the trip through the tunnel and the wild bay. The safe
beach symbolises Jerry s connection with his mother. It s the only place outside their home they can be
together. Jerry prefers having fun alone without his mother rather than with her. The safe beach also
symbolises a safe place for Jerry because he s with his mother. Of course Jerry, when you have had
enough, come to the big beach (Lessing, 3). This quote explains Jerry not wanting to go to the usual
bach with his mother. The rocks symbolise Jerry s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Supposing his head went around?, in the hot sun, he almost gave up (Lessing, 4).. Jerry had asked
himself this questions because he was scared of what might happen if he decides to go through the
tunnel. So, going through the tunnel symbolise Jerry facing his fear. He knew he must find his way
through that cave , or hole, or tunnel out the other side. First he thought he must learn to control his
breathing (Lessing, 4).. This helps describe the kind of challenge Jerry put himself by going through
that tunnel. Jerry s trip through the tunnel symbolise a big challenge young jerry had because he felt
going through the tunnel will make him a good diver and swimmer like the older

Pros And Cons Of The Ontario Sex-Education Curriculum
Recently there has been a lot of debate about the new sexual education curriculum being taught to
children from a younger age and how it will affect them. Some people say that children are too young
to be learning this information and then how they use it will be in a negative manner. What frightens
most parents is that they can raise their children as they wish, but have very little control over what
other people do with their children (Wolfe, D. A. 2015, February 28).The Ontario sex education
curriculum is an necessary step to address the fears of parents that their children could be victimized,
harmed, or take part in behaviours that carry significant risk but the new curriculum is quite different

Benjamin Levin (Ontario s Radical Sex Ed Curriculum).
The new curriculum that began in September of 2015 differentiates from the older version that was
introduced in 2010 which was shelved in 3 days after publically being shared. Both the one
documented in 2010 and 2015 are age inappropriate teachings. The difference is that Kathleen Wynne
has made the curriculum more explicit and more age inappropriate than before, and also increasing the
mentions of the Gender Identity theory, sexual identities and orientations (Rage, G. 2015, August 07).
Another explicit thing being taught in the new curriculum would be anal intercourse. It is being
presented in a way that students will interpret it as carrying no risk for STIs than vaginal intercourse,
this is misleading because it carries 3000% of a higher risk for contracting HIV in an individual. The
curriculum downplays the seriousness of contracting HIV, leaving the

Plakobranchus Ocellatus
The Plakobranchus ocellatus feeds on great variety of green algae (Christa et al. 2012) they are known
to sequester ingested plastids (kleptoplasts) within specialized cells of the digestive gland, and are said
to have a long term retention (LtR) form that incorporates chloroplasts for several months and thus
allowing them to undergo periods of starvation while continuing photosynthetic activity. Not much is
known about the food sources of this sacoglossan, but it is suggested that P. ocellatus is a species
complex and feeds on a broad variety of Ulvophyceae (Christa, Wescott L, et al 2013)
The slugs survived several months of starvation in complete darkness and in the light in the presence
of the photosynthesis inhibitor monolinuron, kleptoplasts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mean/standard deviation of the results obtained can be viewed in Table 1. The greatest difference
was seen within the standard deviation of the weight of the plant seedlings in a high CO2
concentration (0.4326 g). This can be seen in the mean value (average) of the plant seedlings in the
high CO2 concentration, which was 1.153 g.
Further evidence of this can be observed in Figure 2, exhibiting that the standard deviation increased
as well as the mean dry weight along with the CO2. The t test results in table 2 show that the
probability results for the initial and Low weight (0.6501) is above 0.05, therefore establishing the
indication that the weight between the two sets of data have significantly less differences, thus being
more likely due to chance. However, the t test results for the Low and Normal weight (4.895 x 10 5),
Normal and High seedling weight (8.964 x 10 8) and Low and High seedling weight (2.291 x 10 9) are
below 0.05, illustrating that their figures are not due to chance alone. It is clear that the difference
between the results of the Initial Seedling weight and the High CO2 seedling weight should be
significant, further confirming that as the concentration of CO2 intensifies so does the weight of

The Effects Of Exorcism On The Evil Spirit
In all aspects of life, people come across things that simply cannot be explained. Whether people
choose to believe something or not; it still is prevalent in life. Exorcism is the expulsion or attempted
expulsion of an evil spirit from a person or a place (https://www.google.com). In horror films, the
main focus during the exorcism is on the evil spirit. Films have negatively drawn our attention to evil
spirit because it is more interesting to watch. But in reality, behind every exorcism there is an exorcist
that risks his life to save another: And the exorcist, who risks more than anyone else in an exorcism,
flits across the screen as necessary but, in the end, not so interesting as the sound effects (Martin 8).

An exorcist risks his life during an exorcism and has to be prepared for the end result he may die or a
part of him may die. Many exorcists are not the same after they come in contact with pure evil.
(Martin 10). Not all exorcisms are preformed because of the possession of another human being. In
fact, most exorcisms are preformed in haunted buildings infested with evil spirits, which is known as
demonic infestation. The other types of infestation are oppression and possession. Oppression is when
a demon focuses on a particular person and possession is when the person has allowed the demon to
take over its whole body. The most common form, demonic infestation, occurred in the Cranmer
house. Bob Cranmer had bought his childhood dream house. But, after a few months of living there, a
demon had made itself present. Bob Cranmer had brought in Father Mike Salvagna, a priest, and
Adam Blai, a psychiatrist, to get rid of the demon. The demon s name was Moloch, whom was usually
associated with child sacrifice in the Old Testament. Moloch was in complete control of all possession
in the house. After the priest threw holy water on the walls, Moloch fought back by making the walls
bleed; which there was no scientific evidence in how the blood had gotten there. The strange part of
this story is that the demon did not cause a scene as the priest preformed the exorcism. Bob Cranmer
described it like a

The Effects Of Workplace Violence On The Workplace
According to The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health workplace violence is
described as any physical assault, threatening behavior or verbal abuse that takes place in the
workplace. Violence includes all behaviors ranging in aggressiveness from verbal harassment to
murder. Currently there is no law that requires protection for violence which occurs in the workplace.
However some states throughout the country has reached out to legislation an established prevention
programs. As of today, in 30 states (Florida not being one of them) if found guilty of workplace
violence, employees and patients can be charged with a felony and face increased penalties.
Workplace violence is a highly serious occupational risk, both domestically and globally. Violence in
the workplace accounts for nearly nine hundred deaths and almost two million nonlife threatening
assaults each year. The numbers are expected to be higher. But over the years facilities and nurses
have failed to report occupational assaults. Many nurses believe violence is a part of the job. However,
violence isn t part of a nurses the job description. Workplace violence doesn t always have to be
physical. It varies from offensive behavior, verbal, emotional, physical and unfortunately murder.
Evidence shows, healthcare and social workers are three times more likely to experience violence than
any other professionals. Many nurses may practice in a more vulnerable setting, such as the

Brian Hu, the Asian Film the Supernatural.
Fuck this shit. See you next year Cannes. Out . Is a bold twitter quote from the very famous Brian Hu
which gave a lecture at CSU San Marcos film class October 20th 2015. He is the artistic director of
Pacific Arts Movement and of the San Diego Asian Film Foundation who received his PhD in Cinema
and Media Studies at UCLA. His lecture presented grave insight into National cultural specifics but
emphasized mostly on China and Hong Kong. He also broke down genres as they play a role in the
film industry. Martial arts as a genre are very specific to Chinese cinema and Japan has samurai films
of loyalty and justice. As a genre, martial arts take place at a temples or a forest and is very culturally
specific. Other genres like body genres are specific to a body reacting to a film and no mater were you
are in the world you have a body. In Latin America they have mellow dramas called telenovelas that
people want to cry to and in Korea they have their own form of drama shows that they cry to as well.
Horror films often have us react with our bodies, for example: if you see something gross you feel it in
your body, and at the same time your body is reacting to the way the characters are. Other body genres
like comedy can have a reactional impact on your body as well. For example: if you see something
funny and you laugh, that is a body reaction.
Brian Hu emphasized that classic Hong Kong action films come from the massive influx

domestic life to the workplace. Women were anticipated to tail one path (Farber 62). That was, to get
married in her 20s, have a family rapidly, and commit her life to domestic chores. As one woman at
the time pointed out, women did not really anticipate much from life. That was because she was there
as a keeper to both her husband and her children. Therefore, spouses held full responsibilities of child
care and housekeeping thus, spending up to 50 hours a week on home errands. They were legitimately
subjects to their spouses thru head and ace edicts, and lawful they were not entitled to any of their
husbands finances or property, beside a constrained ideal to appropriate support. Husbands, on the
contrary, were allowed to keep an eye on their wives income and property. If in any case the marriage
failed, a break up was hard to acquire, as no fault separation was impossible, hence, coercing women

Examples Of Leadership In Remember The Titans
In the movie Remember the Titans, coaches Yoast and Boone demonstrate leadership through the three
leadership styles; authoritarian, democratic and laissez faire. Authoritarian Authoritarian leadership
style is where a leader has complete control and power over their team. They demonstrate their power
and control by dictating policies and procedures, deciding what goals need to be achieved, and directs
all activities to be done by the team. An authoritarian is usually most successful when things are going

Quality Management Essay
Quality management has been extensively applied within the manufacturing industry over a decade.
later, the service industry has increasingly emphasized this area. Quality management is increasingly
integrated into library services, following their perceived success in manufacturing industries with
particular emphasis on improving service quality. Since manufacturing industries differ in terms of the
characteristic quality, different criteria must be used for measuring these industries.

Quality measurement and evaluation assumes have great importance in modern libraries as it brings
immense benefits to the library as well as user community.
Quality: The word quality has several meaning. According to Sarkar ( ), quality of a product or service
is the ability of the product or service to meet the customers requirements. The customer in an
academic library is the student and the teaching staff of the institution.
The primary purpose of an academic library is to support the teaching, research and other
extracurricular activities of the institution. An academic library is a service organization which
delivers services personally to the customers. In a service organization like an academic library the
customer satisfaction means fulfilling users expectation. For that the librarian must find out the needs
of the users and try to provide it.
The main functions of an academic library are acquisition, organization, and dissemination
ofinformation. The quality should starts from acquisition of resources. Unless and until the librarian
find out the requirements of the users what they want, how they want and when they want, he may not
be able to acquire the proper resources. There should be a well written selection policy in place to add
quality in procurement. Many of the academic libraries in India do not have a written selection policy.
Many of the times, it is supplier driven books selection. Most of the academic library have the practice

Blackie The Mixer
Have you ever heard of a story told by a dog? The Mixer, written by P.G Wodehouse, is a cute and
funny story about a dog that is adopted by a robber. Blackie, the narrator/main character, is a dog that
misinterprets anything and unexpectedly saves his new family from the robber. As a result of Blackie s
distinct character traits, he doesn t understand certain events which makes him a unreliable narrator.
However, these same traits make him a believable dog. Blackie has a very oblivious personality. For
example, on page 77 of the book is says I looked at the man with a great deal of respect. He was
evidently someone important, if they worried so much about his health. However, when you look at
the sentence before that, the policeman says to the man, They told me to tell you you needed a change
of air. See? This proves that the man had most likely had been causing trouble and needed a change of
air or in other words, moving out of their town. This means Blackie thought the policeman worried
about the man s health, not that the man was causing trouble. ... Show more content on

treacherous is his dog. This means that Blackie, from The Mixer, is obedient to his owner. Because of
Blackie s oblivious personality, he does not know that the man is not a good person. However, he is

Ratio and Financial Statement Analysis Essay
Executive Summary
This paper examines financial ratio analysis by defining, the three groups of stakeholders that use
financial ratios, the five different kinds of ratios used and their applications, the analytical tools used
in analysis, and finally financial ratio analysis limitations and benefits.
The paper illustrates that financial ratio analysis is an important tool for firm s to evaluate their
financial health in order to identify areas of weakness so as to institute corrective measures.
While financial ratio analysis does contain limitations that include little theory to guide them as well
as the use of accounting data based on historical costs that may not reflect a firm s true economic
conditions, it is an excellent tool ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One is Working capital to total assets ratio that measures a firm s ability to pay off its short term
liabilities and is calculated by subtracting current liabilities from current assets divided by total assets.
The retained earnings to total assets ratio that measures a firm s use of its total asset base to generate
earnings is also used. It is important to note that retained earnings can be easily manipulated distorting
the final calculation. The third financial ratio used by the Z score formula is the market value of equity
to book value of debt. This is the inverse of the debt to equity ratio, and it shows the amount a firm s
assets can decline in value before liabilities exceed assets. For closely held firms, stockholders equity
or total assets less total liabilities can be used but this amount has not been statistically verified for
purposes of the formula. The sale to total assets ratio that measures a firm s ability to generate sales
with its asset base is also used. The fifth financial ratio is the operating income to total assets. This
ratio is the most important factor in the formula because its profit that eventually makes or breaks a
firm. In calculating the Z score, each of these ratios is given a weight factor that is used within the
formula. (IOMA s report, 2003). See appendix I for the Z score formula and how to interpret the
results obtained. The Z score is used by firms when running regular financial data and firms use it to

Jazz Has Been A Part Of American Culture Throughout History
Jazz has been a part of American culture throughout history that is still being explored today. Jazz has
a rich history that goes back many years. Jazz has also developed into many different styles that trace
to places all around the world. There have been many jazz musicians throughout the years. Jazz music
has a very complex, but good musical tune and instrumentation to it. Jazz had started, when musicians
came to New Orleans to play, most of the people that came to play were former slaves of African
descent. The African American people had traced their ancestry back to West Africa, and with this
knowledge they began to make a new kind of genre of music called jazz, based on ancient African

Note that the transition from ragtime to jazz, was one of melodic style, harmony, and mentation,
though it involved a change of approach, swing being more purely improvisatory art (Louis 176).
Much of the total development of African pitch was based upon quarter tone scales quite beyond a half
tone unit, confusion about certain tones of the diatonic scale, particularly the third, fifth, and seventh,
resulted in the creation of the blues. Specific aspects of this evolving Negro music were represented at
first by folk blues, gospel music, spirituals, and stomps; later by boogie woogie, struts, rags, one step,
and finally jazz evolved. During this evolution one basic characteristic has always been there, a
fundamental pulse of quarter notes joined with a harmonic fabric moving in unit with half notes,
whole notes, etc (World of Music 200). The first combination of musical ideas to achieve popularity
among both blacks and whites was called ragtime. In its heyday, between 1896 and 1918, ragtime
overshadowed all other forms of popular music. The music was in the style of European popular song,
but with a ragged rhythm. It was usually played on solo piano, with a left hand setting down a steady
march beat accompaniment over which the right hand played a melody that was syncopated, with
stressed notes off the most important beats of the bar (The story of Music 42). Jazz of the 20th century

Data Abstraction:
Abstraction refers to the act of representing essential features without including the background details
or explanations. Classes use the concept of abstraction and are defined as a list of abstract attributes
such as size, weight and cost, and functions to operate on these attributes. Since the classes use the
concept of data abstraction, they are known as Abstract Data Types.

Should Naps Be Allowed
Should Naps be allowed for Adults? There are many possibe benefits to napping mid day as an adult.
In my Essay i will list a couple of reasons why it should be allowed. The United states suffers from
sleep deprivation in it s citizens, which can hinder their performance on the job, school, etc. This can
be relieved a bit if the said people were allowed to nap sometime during the lunchbreaks they recieve.
It would increase their performance and Employer s productivity would inturn increase aswell.
According to research done by Robert Stickgold, Students would be able to focus in class much better
after having napped midday. Inturn this would make for a better learning experience but also more
effective teaching. Heart disease

Analysis Of Don Delillo s White Noise
Don DeLillo is an American writer born in 1936. DeLillo is a postmodernist and has written eleven
books receiving various awards for his work. The title of DeLillo s eighth novel White Noise brings
forth many assumptions towards the overall meaning of the book. If one was to generally interpret the
meaning, white noise is produced when sound waves are joined together creating a constant buzz. This
buzz can produce a relaxing or an overwhelming feeling, depending, if it refers to a repetitive noise
one is trying to avoid or perhaps noise one is trying to embrace. With this being said, DeLillo s White
Noise is set in the twentieth century, and tells a story about a college professor by the name of Jack
Gladney who is a professor for the Hitler Studies at College on the Hill. Throughout the novel it is
evident that Jack is the main character and the narrator of the story, who experiences a constant
murmur of his underlying fear of death invading his thoughts. The constant reminder of white noise
causes Jack to have uncertainties that stop him from repressing death in the society around him. As a
result, Jack is challenged with many obstacles as he tries to avoid, cope, and confront the thought of
death while diminishing the white noise that he is trying to escape.
Avoidance is choosing to hide from the inevitable truth instead of accepting the thought of death. In
the first part of the novel, Jack Gladney is seen as an average working man who has to earn an income

Conducting The HRDNI
It is important to remember when conducting the HRDNI, that there are three forces that investigators
must be aware of:
1. Organisational politics
2. Espoused theory; and
3. Organisational defence mechanisms.
In the case of RNC, staff have not been provided with adequate support or training to be able to
develop the necessary skills to perform duties to the required standard. Organisations that understand
the importance of having a committed and capable workforce helps the organisation achieve their
strategic goals and. Implementation of organisational learning processes and human resources
management is often neglected (Tortorella Fogliatto 2014).
4. Describe the investigative processes used
HRDNI is used to identify the gap between the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As part of the HRDNI process, learning development and training opportunities support the
organisation achieving the organisations strategies as it can help to improve organisational, team and
individual performance ( Armstorng and Baron 2002 cited in Neale 2004).
6. Define the learning outcomes and learning objectives
It is important to remember that the HRDNI should be future focused, positive and linked to
competencies and qualifications that are required to perform the functions of the job to the highest
standard. In this instance, administrative staff need to be familiar with the office suite of products and
also outlook and general office management. The manager and coordinator, require skills at diploma
or higher level so that they have a comprehensive understanding of the positions and how to perform
the functions required of them.
HRDNI report needs to document carefully and completely the HRDNI report issues. They should be
presented as a hierarchy of outcomes and associated objectives to assist the HRD to design the
learning experience later on (Delahaye 2011). If qualifications are needed, these need to be described
fully and linked to the Australian Quality Training

Operations Management At Sainsbury s Value Chain
Operations Management is the systematic (where everything can be defined, measured and managed)
control of processes that translates inputs into services and products (output). All the processes are
linked together to form a supply chain and all the operations are about transformations (adding value).
Two types of operation systems are used : opened and closed loop. The first one treats time (speed) as
a high priority and starts from the input, through the process to the output. In the opposite, the second
one includes a control stage between the process and the output and, a feedback at the end. In the first
part, I m going to describe briefly some of Sainsbury s operations using Porter s value chain.
Two categories of operations management exist : service or manufacturing based. Services processes
can be analysed through the customer contact matrix, the degree of labour intensity degree of
interaction and customisation, and the volume and variety against customer contact. In this case, by
delivering goods ordered online to customers from a local supermarket, Sainsbury s more like a
service process because their outputs are perishable ; there s a low customer contact (face to face or
moment of truth) ; there s a short response time (feedback is quick) ; it is labor intensive ; the quality
is not easily measured ; and there is low level of customisation (basic process). It is the downstream
part of the supply chain.
The value chain lean system starts with the inbound

My Personal Statement Matthew 28
Having grown up without a father, he was killed in motor vehicle accident six months after getting out
of the Army after serving two simultaneous tours of duty in Korea; I did not know how to be a man.
My mother and grandmother get the most credit for me being who I am today. My grandmother
started me reading the Bible at the age of three, even though she only had a third grade education post
slavery and being a sharecropper.
As I stated in my personal statement Matthew 28:18 19 has been pivotal in my personal acceptance of
Christ Jesus as my personal savior. Yet, I still have fallen short. Through the teaching, studying and

What legacy am I leaving my family, as husband, father, or just in general a human being? I am not
trying to shoulder the world, nope just be what God called me to be: Holy! A Man Is an Image Bearer
of God, (Kendrick, 2011, pg. 66) and God is Holy, so we must be Holy without excuse. I am not to
bring glory to myself but to the creator of life.
Jesus said in Matthew 23:11, But, he that is greatest among you shall be your servant! This sentence
starts with a conjunction in a simple sentence. Don t miss the real reason he made this statement. It s
really easy to understand, but the statement is so complex, you must ask yourself these questions. Who
is serving whom? What order does one serve and in what manner is one serving? Is there service for
fear of retribution, or out of love? Is remuneration or reciprocity the reason for service or just
because?
Is this service about self or about the other person seeing God being glorified through service? This
question is the reason Cain was not able, even though he wanted to be Abel. His heart was not pure in
serving the Lord but instead of serving he wanted to be served. God told him, had his heart been in the
right place his gift would have been accepted. From this story many things come to mind marriages

Fuel Cell Essay
One of the important issues to ensure the safety of a ship in the case of a gas leak is the condition of
air flow inside the fuel cell stack package. Poor air flow increases the risk of fire or explosion by
accumulating leaked gas in one place. Against this backdrop, the installation place for a ventilating fan
and its capacity should be properly decided to make the air flow smooth inside the package, and an
alarm unit and gas detector should be installed at the proper place to detect gas leak. In this study, we
report the characteristics of air flow inside the stack package to ensure the safety in the case of a gas

These days, many shipping firms are adopting liquefied natural gas (LNG) as marine fuel in an
attempt to replace conventionally used HFO as a marine fuel.
Such a trend to use LNG in the ship considers to safely utilize Boil off Gas (BOG), and as one of the
options, application of fuel cell to the ship are being considered [5,6].
Fuel cells (FCs), energy storage systems (ESSs), wind power, and sunlight have received significant
attentions as environment friendly energy sources for green vessels in the future [7]. Among these,
FCs have strong potential as an alternatives to traditional marine propulsion power plants owing to
their high efficiency, easy modularization, multi fuel flexibility, and environmental friendliness [8,9].
In addition, FCs can essentially offer a silent and vibration free operation, reducing the needs for noise
insulation of machinery. In particular, high temperature molten carbonate fuel cells (MCFCs) have
various advantages for eco ships, because they achieve the system efficiency of more than 80% with
negligible air pollutant emissions, when used as the waste heat. Furthermore, it may be highly
efficient economically for gas transport ships to utilize fuel such as LNG and liquefied H2 carriers,
since MCFCs can use the BOG emitted from the LNG ship [10,11]. However, developments of MCFC
green ships are still in a primitive

Gender Issues Of Danish Sports Organizations
In Gertrud Pfister s article, Gender Issues in Danish Sports Organizations Experiences, Attitudes and
Evaluations, there is a discussion as to whether women are indeed treated differently in higher
positions of power in Denmark. Pfister uses statistics and studies to prove her argument that women
are indeed treated differently and presented differently in the organizations. She even begins to touch
on the fact that men and women are portrayed wrongly in the studies she talks about. Throughout the
article women are presented in a mann that suggests they could not possibly be an ideal leader in the
ways that men can nor can they deal with responsibilities of such a job.
Pfister makes Denmark s position on women being equal to men and deserving of the same
opportunities as them known but adds that they re still under represented (27).Women are free to join
the same workforces as men and partake in the same activities as men but how they are treated within
these occupations is what she finds compelling. Pfister aims to identify reasons for the existing gender
hierarchy (27) and accomplishes this by using the results of quantitive surveys on Danish sports
leaders performed by herself, her peers and those who have wished to investigate this topic as well.
We as readers can see for ourselves that throughout the world the power appears to be in the hands of
men (27). For example, how many world leaders do we see that are of the female sex? According to

The chimpanzee became its own species when it separated...
The chimpanzee became its own species when it separated from bonobos about 2 to 3 million years
ago (Mitchell, and Gonder). According to the article Chimps And Bonobos , this most likely happened
because of allopatric speciation which is the separation of a species through physical forces like
mountains or rivers that isolate the two groups. The physical force that separated the two species was
most likely Zaire River which is also called the Congo River in Sub Sahara Africa. About 2 million
years ago there was a drought south of the river and drove the gorillas that were living the area north.

According to Chimpanzee, an example of a homologous structure it shares with its descendants is its
relatively large skull. As the animals became more evolved their skull shapes started to change to
accommodate for a larger brain. This size difference is shown in Figure 2 because you can see the
difference in the brain and skull size of the chimpanzees (bottom) and humans (top) (Chimpanzee).
This is because Cranium size is determined by brain size and recent evidence by (Dumas, 2012) shows
that this is likely determine by a protein domain called DUF1220. DUF1220 is a domain, a sub section
of a gene, which is about 65 amino acids long and expressed mostly in neurons (DUF1220). Research
(Dumas, 2012) shows that more copies present in the genome the larger the brain size is in that
animal. Humans have 270 copies and the trend goes down from there with Chimps having 125,
Gorillas 99 and marmosets 30 and mice just one (Dumas). This research shows the reasons hominids
increased in brain size is because there was a mutation that increased the amount of DUF1220 in their
lineage which led to gradually larger brain sizes. Since the Chimps split off (Figure 1) before this
mutation their brains did not increase in size; hence the reason they are still similar to the common
ancestor of both chimps and humans.
Another homologous structure unique to apes that evolved from the

a well come development that Ottawa can draw from to take steps on controlling e cigarettes. No
doubt, there is an urgent need for the government to regulate the manufacture, marketing and usage of
e cigarettes because the manufacturers of e cigarettes will not disclose the content of the cigarettes and

that the Canadian government regulate e cigerattes, because consumers don t know how much nicotine

However, successful and effective implementation of these techniques depend on a number of factors
key among them being organizational structure, organizational culture as well as the decision making
strategies within an organization. Organizational structure plays an important role in the
implementation of different types of strategies including cybersecurity. This is because the structure of
an organization establishes a clear understanding of the processes required to achieve a given strategy.
Organizational structure describes an entity s internal pattern of communication, authority and
relationships. It clearly outlines the manner in which power and authority within an organization is
granted and shared as well as the role that different members of an organization should play.
Organization structures often vary from one organization to another. This variation often depends on
the size of the business, the industry within which the company is operating in to mention but a few.
This means that the cybersecurity functions and mandate often vary from one organization to another.
Implementation of cybersecurity is likely to be successful in organizations whose structure is formal
and well defined as opposed to those with an informal structure. Within a formal organizational
structure, the roles and responsibilities of organizational leaders and other members of the
organizations are usually well articulated. A formal

Of course, it is often accompanied by low self esteem (and problems provoked by that), eating
disorders, not always successful plastic surgery and a lot of wasted effort, money, and time. Even it is
called self objectification, it is clear that some subjectivity remains in man always. It turns out, that in
the man with self objectification there simultaneously aligned the self awareness as the subject, and
the acceptance of the role of the object. It happens like this: a person realizes that he/she has a
function (for example, cooking, or emotional support); understands that there are people who need it;
and does it for them to get an approval or to receive some bonuses without any internal motivation.
The actions with the internal and external motivation may not be different outwardly, but in fact this is

How Literacy Is Used As A Communication Method
When it comes to understanding literacy I learned that reading, along with writing is used as a
communication method. However, there s so much more to it than just obtaining the knowledge of
knowing how to read and write. It all truly depends on the way you use your skills in literature.
Literacy is different to each and every person, depending on who they are as a person. It can consist of
your culture, pronunciation, the way you dress, as well as all of your actions. That being said,
personally literature means not only knowing how to read and write, but the way we approach it as an
individual. For example, we are judged by the way we speak, look, act, where we come from, as well

Among the death and repulsion of war, there exists a single refuge for the warrior his brethren. The
success of combat is directly related to the morale of the soldiers, as it is the relationship with the

Anecdotes from the group also influenced Henry s maturation. In contrast to reality, the boastings of
the men imply an upholding of a fable of war; that is, the group can succeed without the individual.
An unmerited comment from a soldier stated, I met one of th 148th Maine boys an he ses his brigade

Women In Nazi Germany Essay
In Nazi Germany, women played a crucial role in expanding the Nazi ideology in Eastern Europe.
Women who were sent to Nazi occupied Eastern Europe were called Hitler s Furies , and were seen as
`racist motherliness : the women were urged to devote themselves selflessly to their German charges
while banishing from their minds any sympathy for the non German population. This indoctrination
was not always involuntary, many women of the time felt empowered at a time when many of these
women were still finding their identity. The services offered by the Nazi s gave them a sense of
belonging to society, as well as high hopes for making a difference in it. To travel appealed to many
women during 1939, and into the 1940 s, but for others it was ... Show more content on

One could argue, They believed that their violent deeds were justified acts of revenge meted out to
enemies of the Reich; such deeds were, in their minds, expressions of loyalty. To Erna Petri, even
helpless Jewish boys fleeing from a boxcar bound for the gas chamber were not innocent; they were
the ones who almost got away. There is a fog over this part of history that needs to have light shed on
it. The Nazi s may have trained these women, but it was the women themselves who carried out these
acts of terrorism. Some German women were complicit because they feared the Gestapo, but it is
more common that these acts of injustice and violence were committed with compliance by the
average German woman. Women were active participants in atrocities against Polish and Jewish
civilians. Certain woman would, in the future, hide behind the Swastika, and say they were doing
womanly work . At the same time they denied altogether their significant role in the persecution and

  • 2. Analysis Of Kelly Sue Deconnick s Bitch Planet Contextualizing a Visual Motif In Bitch Planet by Kelly Sue DeConnick there is another world built through the cartoon. Women are dictated by their fathers, or controlling men of the society, and punished for being obese or not what the men perceive as perfect. It brings the reader into a futurist world which has some of the same twisted ideas of the modern world. It enlarges the idea that bigger women are unwanted and sexualizes thin women in advertisements and in casual conversation. This is can be seen throughout multiple panels of the comic. The comic is repetitively sexualizing the thin women and shamming the bigger women with the use of language and background images. There are two images of a woman eating food in a seductive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Celebrities everywhere are cutting out things from their diet that they do not need to in order to lose weight. Thousands of people will also starve themselves because they think that it helps them to lose weight, but it just hurts their body more. The writer exemplifies the problems in today s pop culture to a new level to allow the reader to see how insane it really is. On the next page we can see the men casually speaking poorly of the bigger woman who is working. One of them talks about having sex with a skin and saying how wild it is while smiling and sipping on his coffee with no cares about who overhears him (DeConnick 195). It shows how the men have little shame in what they say and are proud of themselves for doing such things. Directly after that there is a close up of the larger woman. This forces the reader to focus on her face and her face alone. From this image you can see the pure anger and frustration in her face from what these men are saying. By using this tactic, the writer is amplifying the emotion in order to ensure that the reader does not have a chance to miss this important detail. Following that we see the news report continue on about the parasite conveying it in a way that is positive and makes it sound as if it is something that everyone should experience. By using words like wish and dream come true (DeConnick 194) they make it seem like a positive even though it is most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This piece was made in a face to face art class, where one of my first projects was a to paint a piece modeled after any work from an artist of my choice. Flowers are something I have always drawn or painted, usually my go to, so this seemed like an obvious choice for me. Unfortunately, I am unable to find the original painting I was examining for my project, but Van Gogh had many pieces under that particular style. That being said, I started with a standard pencil to do the sketching as usual. Later when it came to painting, we diluted the paint with oil and used a mixing spatula too. Over the entire course of creating the piece, I was adding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Henry Ford was a successful man that created the Ford automobile. Henry Ford s company is still making great profit in business. Henry Ford wanted to stop World War II by creating tanks, jeeps, and other armed forces but it still didn t work. Still, Ford s automobiles were affordable and he became a very rich and a well known man. Henry has achieved the creation of the V8 engine and was able to build the model T in 24 seconds with the assembly line that he introduced. Because of the assembly line, there were people that called him Liner. These are only two of the many achievements that Henry Ford had. Henry Ford s life was an unexpected journey for both the people and him. Many events occurred to him that changed his life such as becoming very wealthy. It was hard for Ford to start from the beginning. Henry Ford s early life was a life that wasn t expected from a noble man such as him. • 5. What Is Jerry s Symbolism In Through The Tunnel JERRY s CHALLENGE Tunnels can be strange for some people, but seeing a tunnel at the bottom of the ocean is very strange for Jerry. Jerry is on a vacation with his mother and goes out every morning to the rocks diving and swimming with the older kids throughout the day. Doris lessing describes Jerry as a kid who challenges himself against a strange looking tunnel in her story Through The Tunnel through the use of symbolism in the setting, the trip through the tunnel and the wild bay. The safe beach symbolises Jerry s connection with his mother. It s the only place outside their home they can be together. Jerry prefers having fun alone without his mother rather than with her. The safe beach also symbolises a safe place for Jerry because he s with his mother. Of course Jerry, when you have had enough, come to the big beach (Lessing, 3). Supposing he turned dizzy in the tunnel? Supposing he died there trapped? Supposing his head went around?, in the hot sun, he almost gave up (Lessing, 4).. Jerry had asked himself this questions because he was scared of what might happen if he decides to go through the tunnel. So, going through the tunnel symbolise Jerry facing his fear. He knew he must find his way through that cave , or hole, or tunnel out the other side. First he thought he must learn to control his breathing (Lessing, 4).. This helps describe the kind of challenge Jerry put himself by going through that tunnel. Jerry s trip through the tunnel symbolise a big challenge young jerry had because he felt going through the tunnel will make him a good diver and swimmer like the older ... Pros And Cons Of The Ontario Sex-Education Curriculum Recently there has been a lot of debate about the new sexual education curriculum being taught to children from a younger age and how it will affect them. Some people say that children are too young to be learning this information and then how they use it will be in a negative manner. What frightens most parents is that they can raise their children as they wish, but have very little control over what other people do with their children (Wolfe, D. A. 2015, February 28).The Ontario sex education curriculum is an necessary step to address the fears of parents that their children could be victimized, harmed, or take part in behaviours that carry significant risk but the new curriculum is quite different from the older version because it is more explicit, it also is going against catholic school ... The new curriculum that began in September of 2015 differentiates from the older version that was introduced in 2010 which was shelved in 3 days after publically being shared. Both the one documented in 2010 and 2015 are age inappropriate teachings. The difference is that Kathleen Wynne has made the curriculum more explicit and more age inappropriate than before, and also increasing the mentions of the Gender Identity theory, sexual identities and orientations (Rage, G. 2015, August 07). Another explicit thing being taught in the new curriculum would be anal intercourse. It is being presented in a way that students will interpret it as carrying no risk for STIs than vaginal intercourse, this is misleading because it carries 3000% of a higher risk for contracting HIV in an individual. Not much is known about the food sources of this sacoglossan, but it is suggested that P. ocellatus is a species complex and feeds on a broad variety of Ulvophyceae (Christa, Wescott L, et al 2013) The slugs survived several months of starvation in complete darkness and in the light in the presence of the photosynthesis inhibitor monolinuron, kleptoplasts ... The greatest difference was seen within the standard deviation of the weight of the plant seedlings in a high CO2 concentration (0.4326 g). This can be seen in the mean value (average) of the plant seedlings in the high CO2 concentration, which was 1.153 g. Further evidence of this can be observed in Figure 2, exhibiting that the standard deviation increased as well as the mean dry weight along with the CO2. The t test results in table 2 show that the probability results for the initial and Low weight (0.6501) is above 0.05, therefore establishing the indication that the weight between the two sets of data have significantly less differences, thus being more likely due to chance. However, the t test results for the Low and Normal weight (4.895 x 10 5), Normal and High seedling weight (8.964 x 10 8) and Low and High seedling weight (2.291 x 10 9) are below 0.05, illustrating that their figures are not due to chance alone. Many exorcists are not the same after they come in contact with pure evil. (Martin 10). Not all exorcisms are preformed because of the possession of another human being. In fact, most exorcisms are preformed in haunted buildings infested with evil spirits, which is known as demonic infestation. The other types of infestation are oppression and possession. Oppression is when a demon focuses on a particular person and possession is when the person has allowed the demon to take over its whole body. The most common form, demonic infestation, occurred in the Cranmer house. Bob Cranmer had bought his childhood dream house. But, after a few months of living there, a demon had made itself present. Bob Cranmer had brought in Father Mike Salvagna, a priest, and Adam Blai, a psychiatrist, to get rid of the demon. The demon s name was Moloch, whom was usually associated with child sacrifice in the Old Testament. Moloch was in complete control of all possession in the house. After the priest threw holy water on the walls, Moloch fought back by making the walls bleed; which there was no scientific evidence in how the blood had gotten there. Is a bold twitter quote from the very famous Brian Hu which gave a lecture at CSU San Marcos film class October 20th 2015. He is the artistic director of Pacific Arts Movement and of the San Diego Asian Film Foundation who received his PhD in Cinema and Media Studies at UCLA. His lecture presented grave insight into National cultural specifics but emphasized mostly on China and Hong Kong. He also broke down genres as they play a role in the film industry. Martial arts as a genre are very specific to Chinese cinema and Japan has samurai films of loyalty and justice. As a genre, martial arts take place at a temples or a forest and is very culturally specific. Other genres like body genres are specific to a body reacting to a film and no mater were you are in the world you have a body. In Latin America they have mellow dramas called telenovelas that people want to cry to and in Korea they have their own form of drama shows that they cry to as well. Horror films often have us react with our bodies, for example: if you see something gross you feel it in your body, and at the same time your body is reacting to the way the characters are. Other body genres like comedy can have a reactional impact on your body as well. For example: if you see something funny and you laugh, that is a body reaction. Therefore, spouses held full responsibilities of child care and housekeeping thus, spending up to 50 hours a week on home errands. Blackie, the narrator/main character, is a dog that misinterprets anything and unexpectedly saves his new family from the robber. As a result of Blackie s distinct character traits, he doesn t understand certain events which makes him a unreliable narrator. However, these same traits make him a believable dog. Blackie has a very oblivious personality. For example, on page 77 of the book is says I looked at the man with a great deal of respect. He was evidently someone important, if they worried so much about his health. However, when you look at the sentence before that, the policeman says to the man, They told me to tell you you needed a change of air. See? It is important to note that retained earnings can be easily manipulated distorting the final calculation. The third financial ratio used by the Z score formula is the market value of equity to book value of debt. This is the inverse of the debt to equity ratio, and it shows the amount a firm s assets can decline in value before liabilities exceed assets. Much of the total development of African pitch was based upon quarter tone scales quite beyond a half tone unit, confusion about certain tones of the diatonic scale, particularly the third, fifth, and seventh, resulted in the creation of the blues. Specific aspects of this evolving Negro music were represented at first by folk blues, gospel music, spirituals, and stomps; later by boogie woogie, struts, rags, one step, and finally jazz evolved. • 22. Analysis Of Don Delillo s White Noise Don DeLillo is an American writer born in 1936. DeLillo is a postmodernist and has written eleven books receiving various awards for his work. The title of DeLillo s eighth novel White Noise brings forth many assumptions towards the overall meaning of the book. If one was to generally interpret the meaning, white noise is produced when sound waves are joined together creating a constant buzz. This buzz can produce a relaxing or an overwhelming feeling, depending, if it refers to a repetitive noise one is trying to avoid or perhaps noise one is trying to embrace. With this being said, DeLillo s White Noise is set in the twentieth century, and tells a story about a college professor by the name of Jack Gladney who is a professor for the Hitler Studies at College on the Hill. Throughout the novel it is evident that Jack is the main character and the narrator of the story, who experiences a constant murmur of his underlying fear of death invading his thoughts. The constant reminder of white noise causes Jack to have uncertainties that stop him from repressing death in the society around him. As a result, Jack is challenged with many obstacles as he tries to avoid, cope, and confront the thought of death while diminishing the white noise that he is trying to escape. Avoidance is choosing to hide from the inevitable truth instead of accepting the thought of death. Operations Management At Sainsbury s Value Chain Operations Management is the systematic (where everything can be defined, measured and managed) control of processes that translates inputs into services and products (output). All the processes are linked together to form a supply chain and all the operations are about transformations (adding value). Two types of operation systems are used : opened and closed loop. The first one treats time (speed) as a high priority and starts from the input, through the process to the output. In the opposite, the second one includes a control stage between the process and the output and, a feedback at the end. In the first part, I m going to describe briefly some of Sainsbury s operations using Porter s value chain. Two categories of operations management exist : service or manufacturing based. Services processes can be analysed through the customer contact matrix, the degree of labour intensity degree of interaction and customisation, and the volume and variety against customer contact. In this case, by delivering goods ordered online to customers from a local supermarket, Sainsbury s more like a service process because their outputs are perishable ; there s a low customer contact (face to face or moment of truth) ; there s a short response time (feedback is quick) ; it is labor intensive ; the quality is not easily measured ; and there is low level of customisation (basic process). It is the downstream part of the supply chain. The value chain lean system starts with the inbound ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pfister uses statistics and studies to prove her argument that women are indeed treated differently and presented differently in the organizations. She even begins to touch on the fact that men and women are portrayed wrongly in the studies she talks about. Throughout the article women are presented in a mann that suggests they could not possibly be an ideal leader in the ways that men can nor can they deal with responsibilities of such a job. Pfister makes Denmark s position on women being equal to men and deserving of the same opportunities as them known but adds that they re still under represented (27).Women are free to join the same workforces as men and partake in the same activities as men but how they are treated within these occupations is what she finds compelling. Pfister aims to identify reasons for the existing gender hierarchy (27) and accomplishes this by using the results of quantitive surveys on Danish sports leaders performed by herself, her peers and those who have wished to investigate this topic as well. We as readers can see for ourselves that throughout the world the power appears to be in the hands of men (27). For example, how many world leaders do we see that are of the female sex? • 33. The chimpanzee became its own species when it separated... The chimpanzee became its own species when it separated from bonobos about 2 to 3 million years ago (Mitchell, and Gonder). According to the article Chimps And Bonobos , this most likely happened because of allopatric speciation which is the separation of a species through physical forces like mountains or rivers that isolate the two groups. The physical force that separated the two species was most likely Zaire River which is also called the Congo River in Sub Sahara Africa. About 2 million years ago there was a drought south of the river and drove the gorillas that were living the area north. Without an apex predator in the area the common ancestor of the two animals crossed the river and became isolated from their relative the bonobo. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Chimpanzee, an example of a homologous structure it shares with its descendants is its relatively large skull. As the animals became more evolved their skull shapes started to change to accommodate for a larger brain. This size difference is shown in Figure 2 because you can see the difference in the brain and skull size of the chimpanzees (bottom) and humans (top) (Chimpanzee). This is because Cranium size is determined by brain size and recent evidence by (Dumas, 2012) shows that this is likely determine by a protein domain called DUF1220. DUF1220 is a domain, a sub section of a gene, which is about 65 amino acids long and expressed mostly in neurons (DUF1220). Research (Dumas, 2012) shows that more copies present in the genome the larger the brain size is in that animal. Humans have 270 copies and the trend goes down from there with Chimps having 125, Gorillas 99 and marmosets 30 and mice just one (Dumas). This research shows the reasons hominids increased in brain size is because there was a mutation that increased the amount of DUF1220 in their lineage which led to gradually larger brain sizes. Since the Chimps split off (Figure 1) before this mutation their brains did not increase in size; hence the reason they are still similar to the common ancestor of both chimps and humans. Another homologous structure unique to apes that evolved from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is a well come development that Ottawa can draw from to take steps on controlling e cigarettes. No doubt, there is an urgent need for the government to regulate the manufacture, marketing and usage of e cigarettes because the manufacturers of e cigarettes will not disclose the content of the cigarettes and canisters. No wonder Olivia Rose (2014) concluded that other chemicals and the quantities included in e cigarettes apart from carcinogen like formaldehyde are unknown. From the foregoing, it is pertinent that the Canadian government regulate e cigerattes, because consumers don t know how much nicotine or other chemicals exist in them, as well as the potential risk and hazards associated with them. However, successful and effective implementation of these techniques depend on a number of factors key among them being organizational structure, organizational culture as well as the decision making strategies within an organization. Organizational structure plays an important role in the implementation of different types of strategies including cybersecurity. This is because the structure of an organization establishes a clear understanding of the processes required to achieve a given strategy. Organizational structure describes an entity s internal pattern of communication, authority and relationships. It clearly outlines the manner in which power and authority within an organization is granted and shared as well as the role that different members of an organization should play. Organization structures often vary from one organization to another. This variation often depends on the size of the business, the industry within which the company is operating in to mention but a few. This means that the cybersecurity functions and mandate often vary from one organization to another. Implementation of cybersecurity is likely to be successful in organizations whose structure is formal and well defined as opposed to those with an informal structure. It turns out, that in the man with self objectification there simultaneously aligned the self awareness as the subject, and the acceptance of the role of the object. It happens like this: a person realizes that he/she has a function (for example, cooking, or emotional support); understands that there are people who need it; and does it for them to get an approval or to receive some bonuses without any internal motivation. The actions with the internal and external motivation may not be different outwardly, but in fact this is a huge difference between self objectification and action for yourself. • 38. How Literacy Is Used As A Communication Method When it comes to understanding literacy I learned that reading, along with writing is used as a communication method. However, there s so much more to it than just obtaining the knowledge of knowing how to read and write. It all truly depends on the way you use your skills in literature. Literacy is different to each and every person, depending on who they are as a person. It can consist of your culture, pronunciation, the way you dress, as well as all of your actions. That being said, personally literature means not only knowing how to read and write, but the way we approach it as an individual. The Transformation of Henry Fleming in The Red Badge of Courage Stephen Crane s purpose in writing The Red Badge of Courage was to dictate the pressures faced by the prototypical American soldier in the Civil War. His intent was accomplished by making known the horrors and atrocities seen by Unionist Henry Fleming during the Battle of Chancellorsville, and the conflicts within himself. Among the death and repulsion of war, there exists a single refuge for the warrior his brethren. The success of combat is directly related to the morale of the soldiers, as it is the relationship with the neighboring soldier that demonstrates the motive for fighting. Henry listened to these annotations steadfastly, still questioning himself if he were going to run, swept up in the compulsion of the group. Upon Henry s first time seeing a corpse, he felt cold and alone, convincing himself that the other members of the group believed the same. The opinions of the group, once again, had a grand influence on Henry s ability to mature, as he lost control of personally discrete opinions, fearing the lurking menaces of the future. Anecdotes from the group also influenced Henry s maturation. In contrast to reality, the boastings of the men imply an upholding of a fable of war; that is, the group can succeed without the individual. An unmerited comment from a soldier stated, I met one of th 148th Maine boys an he ses his brigade fit th hull rebel army fer four hours over on th turnpike road an killed about five thousand of `em. As well, a man named Bill was said to have been sent to the hospital because he was scared ; however, the men argue this valid statement, saying, He was jest mad, that s what he was. Conversely, the pressure of this battle serves as an injunction to Henry, who, after seeing those around him run from combat (in reference to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Women who were sent to Nazi occupied Eastern Europe were called Hitler s Furies , and were seen as `racist motherliness : the women were urged to devote themselves selflessly to their German charges while banishing from their minds any sympathy for the non German population. This indoctrination was not always involuntary, many women of the time felt empowered at a time when many of these women were still finding their identity.
