Fabulous Chapter 2 Summary
Chapter 12 Questions The play on words I find is that odds and ends is showing the writing is made
up of bits and pieces that are put together into literature. Means is referring to how you should writing

examples are (in order) pennywise, type of food, and in a wise manner. The phrase center around is
logically impossible, because the center is the middle point in which you would go around. Fabulous

Butterfly Effect On Monarchs
Monarchs have been in danger for the longest time because of all the global warming we cause. One
of the many effects of global warming is climate change. The change in the climate can affect the
Monarch Butterflies migration and the life cycle,so we have to limit the amount of littering and
pollution.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Monarch Butterfly is the most known butterfly because of its colored wings that warns its
predators that it is poisonous. It is found throughout all of North America. The Monarch Butterfly can
t fly with a body temperature less than 86 degrees ,so they flap their wings and sit in the sun in order
to keep warm. The milkweed is the Monarch s main food source. The milkweed has many positive
effects on the Monarch Butterfly. For example, the butterfly lays the eggs on the plants ,and the
milkweed gives the poisonous taste to the predators when the caterpillar eats it. The Monarch lay their
eggs on the milkweed plant. They usually lay one egg on the plant which is the size of a pencil tip.
The yellow or white eggs start to hatch after four days. The female butterflies lay 300 500 eggs
through two to five weeks of the process of laying eggs. The next step in the life cycle is the larvae.
This is the stage where the monarchs do all of the growing. The caterpillar has many parts that help it
survive. Once the caterpillar gets older it starts to shed off its skin. The first part to shed off is the
head. The skin starts growing back into the caterpillar

The Rockwell Collins Satellite Transportable Terminal
The Rockwell Collins Satellite Transportable Terminal (STT) is an important satellite for the signal
branch that is used to make communications virtually anywhere. A suspension system needs to be put
into the STT so that it will not be damaged while being loaded and transported. There are three shock
systems available with different spring constants and damping coefficients. The three shock systems
are called Air Coasters, Cloud Riders, and Extreme Shocks. A HMMWV was being tested when it
began bouncing up and down, so the soldiers operating the vehicle shut it down for fear of it breaking
down. Some engineers re fired the gun so they could take measurements of its displacement from the
ground in order to understand what was happening, but they only took measurements for 60 seconds
before they shut it down.
Free Dampened System Loading the Trailer The suspension system can be modeled using the
following equation: m (d^2 x)/(dt^2 )+β dx/dt+kx=f(t) x(t) is the displacement from its rest position in
meters, m is the mass of the object in kilograms, β is the damping constant in kg/second, k is the
spring constant in kg/sec2, and f(t) is the external force in Newtons (N). The mass of the satellite is
1800 kg and the satellite is at equilibrium when the trailer is loaded. Before the trailer is loaded, the
displacement of the shocks is 0.05 meters, so the starting displacement is 0.05. The critically damped
value of each shock is calculated in Appendix A. The Air Coasters

Summer Break Definition
Winter break is a perfectly timed for students to enjoy the holidays, and take a much needed break
from school. This offers time to spend with family and relax without having to worry about their
studies. Due to the length, the break often leads to boredom near the end, and students can become
restless and in need of some excitement.
The holidays often start out with a bang, filled with family gatherings, and lot of gifts. The excitement
then seems to fade away until school goes back in session. Pole Position Raceway has the ideal
solution for breaking the winter boredom with action karting. This fast and exciting sport is sure to

Ghetto Documentary Analysis
At the end of WW2, many films ended up found in a hidden concrete vault located in a forest. The
film marked Ghetto was one of the many films of Hitler s propaganda machine found in this archive.
Out of all the films found only one film showed the Jewish life in the Ghettos. This film turned into
the documentary called A Film Unfinished. The footage from the film corresponds with the class
lectures about the ghettos in regards to conditions, underground secretes, and the Judenrat.
Conditions in the ghetto varied in different locations, but in this film, the footage comes from the
Warsaw ghettos. The footage of the film corresponds with class lectures by showing the Warsaw
ghetto conditions compared to hearing about them in class. The usage of the ghettos was primarily for
isolating thousands of Jews from non Jews by having the ghettos surrounded by walls and the last stop
before the extermination camps. In many locations, the ghetto conditions had lack of food, various
diseases, bad hygiene, and poor housing conditions. The footage from the film shows different clips of
the housing conditions in the ghettos. A few of these clips show starving Jews laying on beds in dirty
conditions dying from starvation or Typhus. The film also shows the Jews marching to baths ... Show

The footage in the film shows Nazis staging events such as people enjoying big meals, theater
performances, and having funerals. The real purpose behind the staged events are unknown, but
probably to fool the International Committee of the Red Cross when visits occurred. Jews held secrets
in the ghettos by having an underground observation of religion. Another big secret the Jews held
comes from secret documentation of the daily life in the ghettos from different members such as
rabbis, doctors, scientists, and other people. In correspondence to the class, the film does mention the
secrets and shows some of them

Iago s Immorality
Shakespeare s Iago is one of Shakespeare s most complex villains. At first glance Iago s character
seems to be pure evil. However, such a villain would distract from the impact of the play and would
be trite. Shakespeare to add depth to his villain makes him amoral, as opposed to the typical immoral
villain. Iago s entire scheme begins when the ignorant, ill suited Cassio is given the position he
desired. Iago is consumed with envy and plots to steal the position he feels he most justly deserves.
Iago deceives, steals, and kills to gain that position. However, it is not that Iago pushes aside his
conscience to commit these acts, but that he lacks a conscience to begin with. Iago s amorality can be
seen throughout the play and is demonstrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a lot of irony that kills Iago, and what seems to be good for him is worse for other people. He
manages to betray almost every person that comes across him, and he will always be happy when he
sees others working unwittingly to fulfill his purposes. Iago is a concept more than a character, and the
play provides us with a series of images he calls it a panopticon that successively produce an
understanding of this concept. The concept of Iago reveals that evil is a pathological derivative of
ordinary human practices, that it depends on the good and is secondary to it. In its pure form evil can
hardly be understood as a human practice (Escobedo, 2010). The greatest vulnerabilities that Iago sees
in other people is that he will use them, and then he will ultimately destroy them, because of his love

Analysis Of The Brain Is Wider Then The Sky
The poem The Brain is Wider Then the Sky by Emily Dickinson, written in 1862. Emily Dickinson
was a woman who never married. She lived with her parents in Amherst Massachusetts. Emily
believed in feminist. She came from a very church going family but as she got older she stopped going
to church. She was a very smart woman. She attended college at Amherst Academy. Her father was
the founder of Amherst Academy, which today is called Amherst College. Amherst college is still a
well know college in Massachusetts. Emily Dickinson started a book club involving multiple friends,
as well as her loving attentiveness to individuals in times of both suffering and joy. These inquiries
highlight her thoughts on love, marriage, gender roles, art, and death, while unraveling mysteries
ranging from legal discourse to Etruscan smiles. In addition to a foreword by Marietta Messmer, the
volume includes essays by Paul Crumbley, Karen Dandurand, Jane Donahue Eberwein, Judith Farr,
James Guthrie, Ellen Louise Hart, Eleanor Heginbotham, Cindy MacKenzie, Martha Nell Smith, and
Stephanie Tingley. One of Emily s favorite books was the bible. She referred back to the bible in a lot
of her work. The poem The Brain is Wider Then the Sky can be interpreted in many different ways. If
you have knowledge of Emily Dickinson back round you may interpret it differently than others who
do not know much about her life and upbringing. This poem is a four line stanza, most of her work

coat of arms Essay
Coat of Arms Coat of arms is a collection of symbols that indicates the trait of a family, profession etc.
In nursing, the coat of arms is intended to capture the key qualities of what nursing profession means.
The purpose of this paper is to explain the six different nursing qualities and discuss why each quality
was chosen to represent Nursing . It will also provide a rational for the symbols that represent each
quality in the coat of arms. The idea of placing each symbol in different locations of the coat of arms
will also be the part of discussion. Communication is life long learning skills for nurses.
Communication can be in different forms. It can be verbal or non verbal. Communication is important

Nursing as care always includes relationship between two or more persons and needs to be inspected
from the point of view of equality (Kangasniemi, 2010). Nurses always deal with Physicians, clients,
and other nurses. By maintaining equality in the working environment, I believe that there will be
lower chance of conflict between nurses, physicians and clients. Equality also helps a nurse to
maintain a good professional relationship with his/her clients and colleagues. In my opinion, it is
important that nurses should have the knowledge of equality so that they can treat all the patients with
the same caliber of care. I believe that if nurses have the knowledge of equality, no patient will suffer
because of age, sex, ethnicity, and gender. The symbol chosen for equality in the coat of arms is a
justice scale. It represents equality because the scales on both sides are equal. The scale is placed at
the center of the heart because it is one of the central qualities of nursing. The scale is drawn inside the
heart because equality directly touches human s feelings. If an unbalanced or unequal quality of care is
provided for two clients, the one who is receiving less care will feel uncomfortable and discriminated.
In order to maintain equality the balance on both side of

A wide variety of articles were reviewed that adopted a number of different study designs for their
research. A number of different experiments were also looked at which demonstrated how resistances
to certain HIV 1 anti retrovirals are arising. As presented in the appendix, this specific section will
evaluate the results from many randomized control trials (RCTs), case control studies, prospective
cohort studies with and without controls, retrospective cohort studies with and without controls and
cross sectional studies.

They looked at multiple coding sequences of the HIV 1 integrase enzyme form blood plasma samples
of 61 patients. They categorized the main integrase region sequences as subtype B, with minor
subtypes being C (CRF01 AE, CRF02 AG and CRF13 cpx), D and G. No major integrase drug
resistance mutations have been observed in new patients beginning with integrase inhibitor treatment,
however in 30 cases, polymorphic variations with the E157Q mutation were observed. This mutation
was more common among subtype B (26 cases) than with non B subtypes (5 cases). Major integrase
inhibitor drug resistance mutations (G140S, Q148H, N155H, V151I, E92EQ, V151I, G163R) were
notable in four of these cases. Time to the development of drug resistance ranged from 3 to 16 months
with a mean increase of HIV viral load of 4.34 HIV RNA copies/ml at the time of emergence of the
major mutations. (11) Figure 1 demonstrates four cases in which resistance to integrase inhibitors
were observed.
In a study conducted by Piralla et al., HIV 1 integrase variability was analyzed using stored plasma
samples from 95 patients infected with HIV 1, within a one year period from 2008 to 2009. Patients
with no available plasma samples or viral load less than 1,000 HIV RNA copies/ml plasma were
excluded from the analysis. Their results demonstrate that primary mutations associated with
resistance to integrase inhibitors were not detected in patients that have previously been treated with

What Native Peoples Deserve Essay
What Native Peoples Deserve
The article What Native Peoples Deserve by Roger Sandall talks about the Roosevelt Indian
Reservation in the Amazon rain forest. The Roosevelt Indian Reservation is situated on the world s
current largest deposit of diamonds and no one in the government, the local Indians and the diamond
diggers want the diamonds left in the ground. However, the laws in Brazil make it impossible for
anyone to begin digging there. Because of the strict laws governing the extraction of the diamonds, it
has lead to the region becoming saturated in blood, murder and mayhem.
According to the 2005 article, Mr. Sandall said that the massacre of Cinta Larga Indians by rubber
tappers in 1963 was the caused by diamonds, not rubber. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only then did the world turn its attention to the Amazon rain forest. Since the 2004 slaughter of the
twenty nine miners and murder of the man who tried to quell the conflict, several laws have gone into
effect to get the Cinta Larga Indians back their land and make it illegal for mining to be done on the
Cinta Larga Indian reservation. According to the article, the Figueiredo Report was established after
the massacre in 1963 to deal with the shockingly grave deficiencies and abuses that were then being
tolerated by the Indian Protection Service, including the use of individual Indians as slaves (Angeloni
230). Now that the Certificate of the Kimberley Process was passed in 2006, it has made it illegal for
anyone to ship rough diamonds out of the country that d been dug out from areas that are protected.
It is both interesting and horrifying to be learning about a culture being depleted and wiped out just
because they are situated on top of a large diamond deposit that greedy people want to exploit. The
diamond mining is the leading cause of all the bloodshed, murder and mayhem in the region. Since the
Certificate of the Kimberley Process was passed, it has made it illegal to ship diamonds out of the
country that have been extracted from areas of conflict or those that aren t approved by the National

CHAPTER 4 CELL ENCAPSULATION, STEM CELL THERAPY AND SCLERAL PLUG
THERAPY 4.1 CELL ENCAPSULATION
Encapsulated cell technology (ECT) is the therapeutic strategy for controlled, continuous, and long
term administration of proteins drugs in the eye.In a phase 1 trial, human ciliary neurotrophic factor
(CNTF) was delivered by retinal pigmented epithelial (RPE) cells transfected with the human CNTF
gene and sequestered within capsules that were surgically implanted into the vitreous of the eye.The
semipermeable outer membrane of the encapsulated cell implant allowed CNTF to reach the retina
and ,at the same time, sequestered the cells from the immune system. The trial indicated that CNTF was
safe for the human retina ,even one with severely compromised photoreceptors [91].
Advantages:

Dr. Seuss Character Analysis
Being able to relate to something or someone is the best thing that can happen to us. Reading a book
can bring us memories of how we used to be and how we felt when we first read something we were
able to relate too. In most books we are able to relate to the characters. Not only are we able to relate
ourselves to a character and now that we are not the only ones like that but we can relate the other
characters with our surroundings. In the book The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss, some of the few books
that we can relate the character to us, uses fantasia and realistic characters that we can relate ourselves
and others that are within our surroundings. The children are the main characters, realistic and are the

Also the fish is treated as a family member. The fish says ... our mother... stating how the children s
mother is also his mother (Seuss 25). This situation is comparable on how some children and even
adults see their pets as a member of their family.
Thing 1 and Thing 2 are the pets that the Cat in the Hat brings along to show a different way to have
fun. The Things are fantasy characters and are similar to the children. They both do not know how to
have fun but the children do not do any action they just sit unlike the Things they make a mess. The
cat describes Thing 1 and Thing 2 by telling the fish, They are tame. Oh so tame! They have come
here to play... (Seuss 37). The Things turn out not to be so disciplined nor tame they were a total
disaster. They were like little monsters running around the house destroying everything near them, not
knowing how to domestically have fun. Even though they were illustrated as a child they had different
qualities that distinguished them from a human. Since they are designated as Things it indicates that
they are not human (MacDonald 115). Also the narrator the boy described them as some wild things as
he saw that they were knocking down everything. Also, when Dr. Seuss mentions that they are tame,
he pats Thing 1 and Thing 2 on their head like if they were pets. Normally

Reflection Of A Play Amadeus
On November 30, 2017, I viewed a play called Amadeus, from the comfort of my home. Didn t think I
would like it seeing that this would be my first time ever seeing a play like this one. I was thinking to
myself am I going to like it, will I be able to sit through the whole play without being bored.
Within the first couple of seconds, I was amazed at how the characters from the start of the play really
drew me in with their chanting and the two characters going on and on about the tale of Antonio
Salieri. I liked how they went back and forth about what they heard and who they heard it from. Those
two in my opinion really set the play in motion and gave just enough insight on Salieri to have you on
your toes. In my mind I m asking the same questions, did Salieri really poison Mozart and if so why to
tell it now? I m really into it now just from the first couple minutes.
There wasn t a lot of props which I thought was a great idea, seeing that too many props couple draw
the attention away from the characters. The play had it s really dark moments, like when Salieri first
came on he seems very depressed and angry. My thoughts on Salieri is that he seemed very bitter and
insane but the actor playing Salieri really brought this character to life. He never lost my attention and
seemed very live throughout the entire scene. All the characters did an amazing job and the costumes
really set the time frame. I just have one question, did the men in those times really wear a lot of

Nozick s The Examined Life
Harsimran Natt
Philosophy 1 Final
Prompt #1
Value and Meaning Nozick had clear definitions of value and meaning in The Examined Life that can
be applied to anyone s life. According to Nozick, meaning involves a connection to something beyond
internal boundaries , or values. He also says values possess an internal unified coherence, which are
split into two categories: instrumental and intrinsic. According to his definition, there is only certain
aspects of life that have meaning and value and there could be changes made to life to make it have
more value and meaning. Nozick s definition leads us to see that meaning depends on value. There are
two types of value, as stated before. The first type is instrumental value, which is when something ...

I have already connected my family, religion, and education to happiness. The more I connect to
intrinsically valuable things, the more meaning my life will have. Most people connect the meaning of
life to things such as family and friends which add instrumental and intrinsic values to a person s life.
The same applies for me, my life has meaning because I relate it to things that I value. The more I
connect with valuable things, the more meaning my life will have. In the future, my career will add
more value to my life. I will be doing something that I love, and that gives me happiness, for most of
my day. It will also give me financial stability in the future, which will be important. My career and
financial stability will allow me to take care of the people that I love (such as for example, taking care
of health of my parents as they get older). As I will get older, I will be able to give back to my parents,
which will give me the greatest happiness in the world. The happier my family and people I care about

Beliefs And Traditions Of Those Who Came Before Me
Here is why it is important to know the beliefs and traditions of those who came before us, and what
could happen if we ignore it .
When you know what happened in the past with your family, you won t have to make the same
mistakes they did, and if you do know and find a better solution. When you know what happened in
the past with your family you can make sure your other family members and friends know so they don
t make the same mistakes, and you re being a good person.
When you know the beliefs and traditions of your family, you can continue them so the next
generation knows, and you keep the family going.

When you know your family s traditions, beliefs, and past it s a good thing, so you can maybe follow
their good past or better their bad past, and keep the flow and set a good example for your kids, and

wanted to be a better person and have a better life.
That is why it is important to know your family s beliefs, and traditions and to know your family s
past.
Here are my thoughts and feelings about the stories and how they impacted my life. First, this
impacted my life because i had never thought about my family s past and what it was supposed to
mean to me. My thoughts and feelings about the story as we continued they have greatly expanded, I
have so much respect for people and things. I feel that I take for granted what I have, and mistreat

Seneca s Theory Of Ethics Caught My Interest
Born in 1 BCE, Lucius Annaeus Seneca was a Stoic philosopher whose writings cover a vast range of
topics concerning the human experience. The public s conception of stoicism as a school of
philosophy predominantly focused on embracing misfortune without complaint is somewhat distorted
from the actual beliefs its outstanding figures held. Seneca s approach to ethics caught my interest,
after thinking over his arguments, I found myself agreeing with much of what he had to say, that is if I
interpreted it correctly. I believe the principles espoused by the stoics to be particularly relevant over
the past century. The 1920 s is often associated as an age of materialism, an unsustainable time period
inundated with mass consumption and fixated on pleasure. Perhaps it is not as extreme as then
nowadays, I would not know for I was not alive; however, it feels like we are in a similar climate.
Everyone wants the newest products, the new iPhone that comes out every year, that new pair of
shoes, that new videogame system, that new watch, or that new house, etc. Although we have yet to
reach the world described by Aldous Huxley in that of the literary classic Brave New World, which
depicts a society constructed upon drowning in excess consumption of sex and soma, where John, the
savage, is perceived as a lunatic for his quaint habits of being virtuous. More interesting, is the
growing desire to be happy, this is shown by the increasing amounts of literature and social science

how to do certain things.
They keep going back and forth until Zeus says that they are done with the conversation, and Zeus

For three hours and a half in a courtroom at Boise, Ohio, Harry Orchard assembled in the witness
chair at the Haywood trial and recounted a record of offenses, slaughter, and murder... the like of
which no individual in the overcrowded courtroom had ever thought of. Not in the entire scope of
Bloody Gulch literature will there be exposed anything that approaches an equivalent to the atrocious
narrative so motionlessly, coolly, and composedly voiced by this audacious, disimpassioned man
slaughterer. For on his very first day of the trial, Orchard narrated the specifics of his wrongdoings
without hesitation. Just last year, 1906, he with another fellow had implanted an explosive in the

Only once or twice was there a dramatic touch. It was a repulsive, sickening, nauseating story, but he
conveyed it as meekly as the simplest chronicle of the utmost common episode of the most ordinary
reality. He was neither an egotist nor an adulator. He neither bragged of his horrendous offenses nor
sobbed in fake regret and shame. It was just a simple narration of individual practice, and as it went
on, hour after hour, with voluminous detail, specific and intense here, half disremembered and
ambiguous there. Slowly it conveyed to the spectators the belief that it all happened it was the truth.
Falsehoods are not prepared as convoluted and intricate as that tale. Fiction so full of incident, so
mixed of purpose and cross purpose, so permeated with the play of human passion, does not spring
offhand from the most marvelous fertile invention. Touching continually points on which there can be
controversy, Orchard described undertakings whose purpose until to day had been unknown, whose
motive had lingered as clandestine. And as he continued to recount his story, the half stifled gathering
in the populated courtroom was so silent that his soft speech infiltrated to the farthermost area. As I

Essay on Charles W. Chestnutt’s The Conjure Woman
Charles W. Chestnutt s The Conjure Woman
The first half of Charles W. Chestnutt s The Conjure Woman begins with the interaction between a
Northern white male and the conventional portrayal of a slave. In the novel an old ex plantation slave,
Julius, recounts stories that he says he heard as a child. The audience of the stories is the white
Northern male, who is the narrator of the story, and his sickly wife, Annie. The stories are told for
many purposes but my favorite reason behind the telling of the tales is Julius attempt and in most
cases achievement to acquire several things by this sly action.
From the time that Julian the slave meets John, the Northerner and narrator, the stories begin to roll off
his tongue. Julian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the stories where Julius is able to get something he desires is the one of Po Sandy. The drastic
love story and conjuring magic are just enough to distract the couple from perceiving what is
occurring. Julian tells of how two slaves are in love with one another, Sandy and Tenie, but Sandy is
passed around to different plantations because of his great work. Tenie decides that to keep them
together she can turn him into a tree. He becomes a tree but one day Tenie is away in town taking care
of someone and the tree is cut down to make the past owner s wife. The rumor began that one is able
to hear moans from the lumber in the newly built kitchen. It ends up that Tenie dies on the floor of the
kitchen and the narrator, John, believes that the story is unbelievable while Annie seems to be worried
about the outcome of the black couples love. The whole story is initiated with the narrator saying he is
going to make the old schoolyard into the kitchen. Julian then chimes in that it is a bad idea because it
is haunted and then it shows immediately following the story Julian is holding church meetings in the
supposed haunted schoolhouse that no one should be alone in.

that take place in a business meeting, telephone conversations or face to face conversations. Oral
communication has adapted along with technology allowing teleconferences, video chat. Most work
places had adapted to using video conferences and teleconferences using a network to reach any and
all stakeholders in any location. Written communication is the most important communication in a
workplace. Written communication involves any type of message that makes use of the written word.
Written communication is also the most effective form of business communication. Examples of
written communication in a workplace include: email, letters, proposals, contracts, brochures and
advertisement, internet websites, faxes, newsletters.
When communicating in a workplace understanding who your audience is can help determine the
tools and forms and information you use and give to communicate. First understanding the subject and
what your audience knows and needs to know can help you communicate appropriately. Your

What Does It Means To Me
‒ What is it?
An imaginary sphere of infinite extent with the earth at its center and on which the stars, planets, and
other heavenly bodies appear to be located.
‒ My comment? What does it mean to me?
The stars occupy fixed positions on the surface of this celestial sphere , and the Earth rotates within it.
This is obviously not the case in real life but it is a good model because this is pretty much how things
look from our point of view.

consistently perform at the upper range of their capabilities through psychological principles, and (2)
understand how involvement in physical activity, exercise, or sport can affect psychological
development, and overall health and well being throughout life. Some professional roles that can be

Analysis of Gaspard of the Night
Gaspard of the Night
Gaspard De La Nuit was not published until a year after Aloysius Bertrand s death making an
interesting point about how he felt about his own work and its experimental nature.
Gaspard De La Nuit was the first important French work to utilize prose poetry as an art form.
The prose poem is inspired by medieval literature and thus uses a combination of the medieval
traditions, the gothic tradition, and the romantic of the French literary movement.
Gaspard comes from the Persian language which is a term meaning the man in charge of the royal
treasures, thus by giving the protagonist of these prose poems this name, Aloysius Bertrand
intentionally gives the reader the understanding that this is the perspective of a wealthy person, or at
the least an individual with some sort of high social class
Gaspard de la Nuit is also an old French expression which refers to the devil as he is an embodiment
of darkness. The combination of the two leads to a connection in the original readership, who would
have all been French people, of someone wealthy or at least connected to wealth and also someone
associated with death.
Gaspard De La Nuit traverses the line between reality and fantasy. The use of prose poetry is designed
to highlight this straddling of lines. As a prose poem is a form of poetry that does not have to accept
the stringent rules of poetic forms, so too the story of the poetry does not adhere to anything that is
strictly true to life nor is it

Similarities Between The Wars Of European Religion
The Wars of Religion were a series of conflicts in Europe due to the spread of Protestantism. These
conflicts were due in particular, to the intense resentment of Protestantism as a religion and a fear of
providing freedom of religion. These conflicts were very violent and were cause for a lot of change
religiously in Europe. Although the Wars were very different throughout the various countries in
Europe, there were also many similarities and I will explore these in this essay. The primary similarity
between the Wars of Religion in Europe was the presence of a final compromise to end the conflict.
However the main theme was that one group was always excluded from the compromise. For
example, Lynn Hunt stated, ... he[Henry IV] made peace

Living In A Diverse Community Analysis
Auto rickshaws stuck in traffic, countless jaywalkers, and a vast array of colors mark the streets of
India in my childhood memories and are in sharp contrast to the quiet, blue and black hustle and bustle
in the streets of the US. Having lived in another country in my formative years has given me a
different perspective than that of the average person. Experiencing two very distinct cultures whether
deciding between dresses and sarees or burgers and biryanis has allowed me to learn about the benefits
of having diversity within an area.
Living in a diverse community shielded me from culture shock and grew an appreciation in me for
other cultures of the world. While the people in the US are considered the melting pot, there are

Strategic Planning And Operational Planning
In business planning there are two types of plans to consider. Strategic planning and operational
planning. The first being a long term plan establishing goals for the organization and the later a series
of short term goals that are set in an effort to accomplish the long term strategies previously laid out.
Strategic planning is a tool best used by management when creating an overall vision of the
organization. Managers build and organize strategic planning when there is a need to spell out the
organizations mission, values, and responsibilities. Responsibilities can be to the organization,
stakeholders, and customers alike.
Strategic Components Different types of organizations would have different goals in their plan, but
according to Strategic Planning for Dummies There are 11 major components to any successful
strategic plan starting with the mission statement. The purpose of a mission statement is to provide the
overall purpose and what the organization is looking to accomplish. A vision statement provides the
framework detailing the organization s plans for the near future (3 5 years). The next recommended
section is a values statement. This statement illustrates the core beliefs and guiding principles of an
organization, and a brief view at the organizations position. Specifically, strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities and threats, otherwise known by the mnemonic acronym SWOT, are all recommended to
be included in a well written strategic plan. A sufficient plan

Mexican And Salvadoran Populations During The United States

The foreign born population in the United States has increased significantly over the past decades,
with projections for the future demanding great attention. The growing population of people born
outside of the United States reached 13.7% in 2015, not far from the country s all time high of 14.8%

From the micro level to the macro level globalization has transformed the world into a smaller place
with constant interactions occurring at every moment between nations, institutions, groups, and

this reason one cannot ignore the importance and impact of migrant populations in the country they

Mexican and Central American populations in California have become essential to the economy of

Budget Definition
Not counting savings, I was able to come in under budget by $11.03. It was really difficult to create a
budget on such a low monthly income. The first thing I did was to locate an apartment. The upper
range I had in mind for my apartment was $400, and the cheapest one I could find was $399 per
month. It was also very difficult trying to determine whether I wanted to drive a car. Since the
expenses for car insurance and gas would be really high, I decided to not use a car. Fortunately, I got a
job as a cashier at a nearby Walmart. Thus, I could just walk to work. In addition, I found it difficult to
find a relatively inexpensive after school activity for the kids until I got off work. The budget for
groceries was also a tough amount to determine. Even if I use coupons, it would be difficult for my
family to stay within the budget every month for groceries. Overall, I budgeted the bare minimum to
my wants so that I could set aside money to my family s needs. In order to meet all the expenses and
live comfortably this family would need to be in the middle class.
I would completely disagree with them. Even if a poor person works 40 hours a week, it is still really

The Black Panther Party
The Black Panthers
The Black Panther Party is a self defense, African American revolutionary party. This party was
founded in Oakland, California by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale during the 1960 s. This party was
dedicated to combating white oppression, and did so by the use of both peaceful and violent actions.
Looking back at the history of the Black Panthers, it can be clearly seen that the peaceful idea of
equality for all spawned this group and their violent actions for the main reason that they were willing
to do anything to defend their beliefs.
One of the greatest reasons for the violent actions of the party, should be credited to the co founder
named Huey Newton. Huey Newton was a rebellious individual who was suspected of committing
many crimes. As minister of defense within the party, Huey was seen as a leader to the members of the
organization. In an interview with Newton, he made clear what he wanted the party to stand for, and
what they needed to do to achieve this. In an excerpt from the interview transcript, he says that there
are two kinds of nationalism, revolutionary and reactionary nationalism. Revolutionary nationalism is
first dependent upon a People s revolution with the end goal being the people in power... If you are a
reactionary nationalist you are not a socialist and your end goal is the oppression of the people.
(Newton 1). From this transcript, it can be inferred what kind of nationalism Huey wants the party to
follow. He wants the people to gain power through the use of violence And extremism. As the
interview continues, Huey states the views of the Black Panther Party by saying The Black Panther
Party, which is a revolutionary group of black people, realizes that we have an identity. We have to
realize our black heritage in order to give us strength to move on and progress (Newton 1). By saying
this, Huey is announcing to the world that the Black Panthers are going to cause a dramatic change,
and implies that they will do whatever is necessary as long as they have the strength. The cause for
violence from peaceful ideas is largely due to the leadership. The minister of Education George
Murray made many speeches that supported the violent actions, and encouraged them. Within

How Technology Hinders Society
After studying this unit in history and literature classes, I believe that technology hinders society and

The impact of technology has hindered society and mankind. Technology is a hindered to man kind
because it is taking out all the skills humans have to do. While a machine does all the work, humans
get to sit around controlling or doing another task that isn t as skillful as what the machine is doing. In
the story The Machine Stops, people s lives are controlled by the machine. For example, in the
passage it states, There were buttons and switches everywhere buttons to call for food for music, for
clothing. (Forster, pg.3). This shows that we won t be capable of doing simple tasks in the future and
have everything done for us in a push of a button. This is important because if we keep making

Chrysler started pushing power to the floor in the late 1980 s, resulting in greater quality and
efficiency, as they broke down the symbolic walls between engineering, styling, and production

assembly line production which requires large groups of employees to work in concert linking a series
of interchangeable parts in an effort to finalize assembly. Chrysler provides an excellent model to
discuss a team based approach as it relates to increased productivity and effective cost reductions.

If good teamwork promotes productivity and quality improvement, then why are productivity and
quality levels sometimes lower in a team environment (Tudor, 1996)? The truth is more companies fail
at achieving a team based approach than succeed, which lends credibility to the significant steps that
must be taken to successfully implement and sustain a team based organization. If implemented
efficiently, it can afford an organization excellent coverage across all its business operations.
In May 1998, when the impending merger of Daimler Benz and Chrysler was announced, it heralded
the biggest cross border industrial merger ever (Sarosi, 2016). The Daimler Benz and Chrysler merger
would systematically pair two of the largest executive boards in the car manufacturing industry in an
attempt to successfully implement a team based approach as a necessary first step in their corporate
merger. Many of the management and employee issues that would arise during the merger stemmed
from diversity in communication styles and cross culture differences. However, it makes the task of
basic team based implementation and adherence to the founding principles no less significant. The
idea of less management, improving relationships and increased productivity outline the foundation of
a team based approach. The Daimler Benz and Chrysler merger presented many challenges as both

Comparison of the Characters Cyrano and Christian in...
From the play Cyrano de Bergerac, two of the main characters are at odds fighting to win the heart of
the same girl. Cyrano and Christian play as competing romantic heroes in their story, both hopeless
dreamers of love and lust, both bold in their own aspects as well as incredibly insecure all at once.
They also share the quality of great loyalty, and willingness to drop anything to come to the rescue of
a friend. Physically, they are opposites; Christian is beautiful, and Cyrano thinks himself an atrocity.
Their intellectual capabilities are also at completely different ends of the spectrum; Christian is a
bumbling fool, and Cyrano can become a master at whatever task he chooses. In the aspect of poetry
and the art of words, Cyrano is a true Shakespeare, and Christian is the equivalent of a second grader
at best. These characters seem to be foils and, at the same time, they are wildly alike. One
characteristic that they most obviously share is their quality of being complete and hopeless romantics.

Water Should Be Clean And Safe For Consumption
Introduction
Water is a crucial part of life; the human body is made up of 75 percent water, (Pandey, 2005). It is
one of the most pivotal nutrients in the human body due to its functions like carrying nutrients in and
out of cells in living creatures. Water is also essential in the removal of waste products from the body
and also in the regulation of body temperature in warm blooded organisms, (Pandey, 2005). Research
has revealed that human beings can live without food for a month, but they cannot last more than
seven days without water; if the body loses more than ten to fifteen percent of water, it can be fatal

As such sanitation and hygiene contribute immensely to the burden of health such countries. Countries
with such vulnerabilities with respect to lack of clean and safe water are predisposed to water related
diseases such as cholera, dysentery, and diarrhea, this is from a United Nations report which also
stated that these diseases have a potential to stifle growth, (Pandey, 2005). Research reports on the
impact of water related illnesses reveal that thousands of outbreaks occurs and are mostly due to
bacterial parasitic and virus microorganism; these outbreaks occur mainly due to the consumption of
untreated water.
The world health organization in the year 1996 estimated that every eight seconds, a person would die
due to illness that emanates from drinking unsafe water; this means that over five million people die of
such illnesses annually which is a very high number considering the advances made with respect to
water pollution control. An important portion of the health burden caused by water related diseases
can be attributed to the way water resources are managed and developed; some of the resources being
cited include dams and irrigation schemes. These resources increase incidences of Malaria,
schistosomiasis, Japanese encephalitis in areas they have been established, (Pandey, 2005). Drinking
and bathing in dirty water are by far the most common means through

Analysis Of The Poem Horse And Gentlemen
In his essay, Horse and Gentlemen, T.H. Breen describes the cultural significance of gambling,
specifically in relation to the quarter horse races, in late 17th century Virginia. Breen primarily argues
that the three main aspects of gambling competitiveness, materialism, and individualism reflected and
reinforced the socio economic structure of Virginia in this period. The high stakes wagers of the
affluent planters reinforced their dominant status in the social structure and the gentry s right to rule
over this colony. Breen s argument to this effect is supported by letters, court transcripts,
documentation of wagers, and other written first hand accounts. Breen s case for the cultural
significance of gambling has persuasive arguments for its representation of competitiveness and
materialism. However, his argument for individualism has contrary elements and his essay would have
been improved with the inclusion of women s role in the gambling culture. Gambling in any form is
an inherently competitive activity. Breen argues that this fundamental competitiveness was important
for the gentry to air their grievances in a non violent outlet and that it provided a chance to improve
their social standing. Breen begins by describing the household wagers that took place between the
wealthiest planters. Durand of Dauphine, a Frenchman, observed the gentlemen from the House of
Burgesses begin their gambling after dinner and attested to them still gambling when he arose in the

Summary Of The Enlightenment Salons
Dr. Dena Goodman is an American historian and Professor of History and Women s Studies at the
University of Michigan. Her most notable publications include The Republic of Letters: A Cultural
History of the French Enlightenment (1994) and Becoming a Woman in the Age of Letters (2009).
In her article, Enlightenment Salons: The Convergence of Female and Philosophic Ambition, (1989)
Dena Goodman stresses the pivotal role of women, as salonnières, in the transformation and
governance of eighteenth century French Enlightenment salons, which were the base of the
philosophes pursuit of the Enlightenment project; furthermore, Goodman argues the reciprocal
successes of the Republic of Letters and the Enlightenment salons was fostered by their ... Show more

The motivations were various and complex, from trying to advance from social dissipation to trying to
supplement the education that was denied to them as children.
However, as illustrated by eighteenth century French theologian and moralist, Jacques Joseph Duget,
there was a perception of frivolous and licentious salon women in the seventeenth century corrupting
society, particularly by feminizing men. Salons in the eighteenth century had evolved from this, now
trying to revive society through the philosophes Republic of Letters.
The salons were reclaimed from aristocracy and utilized by the philosophes as a space of collaboration
and intellectual exchange, fostering Enlightenment ideas, particularly egalitarianism. Salons were
characterized by the acknowledged equality among the participants as well as the birth of intellectual
practice as a valuable interest. The serious tone of the salon as a workspace provided philosophes with
the environment necessary to spread the ideals of the Enlightenment, including the involvement of
women in the enlightened community. The Republic of Letters developed complementarily with the
salon s social, institutional advancements, mirroring the interconnectivity of philosophes and
salonnières alike in the Enlightenment project. Epistolary networks of intellectual discussion and the
continued exchange of letters was vital to the growth and characterization of the Republic of

The heart of a Limited Liability Company is known as the Operating Agreement . This document sets
the rules for operating the company and can be modified as the business grows and changes.
Operating an LLC is less formal than a corporation, usually only requiring an Annual Members
Meeting and Members agreeing to changes of the Operating Agreement and other major company
decisions. Provides the liability protection of a corporation without the corporate formalities (Board
meetings, Shareholder meetings, minutes, etc.) and extra levels of management (Shareholders,
Directors, Officers). Taxed the same as a sole proprietorship (1 Member LLC) or partnership (2 or
more Members).
(Which Type of Business Entity to Choose? http://www.mynewcompany.com/entity.htm)
Part III: Discuss the tax consequences of contributing cash, property and/or services to the new entity.
Contributions of appreciated property to an LLC, however, are generally tax free and there is no
ownership or control requirement. There are ordinarily no federal income tax consequences when a
person contributes property or services to an LLC, but there are some exceptions to this rule that you
should keep in mind when planning for contributions by new or existing members of LLCs.
Under IRC §721(a), a contribution of property to an LLC is generally tax free to both the contributor
and the LLC. There is no 80 percent control requirement to obtain tax free treatment for a

Debates Of Euthanasia And Physician-Assisted Suicide
1. The current debates of euthanasia
Euthanasia and physician assisted suicide are acts that strike at the heart of what it means to be human
the moral acts that make us who we are, or better, who we ought to be. Debates about the ethics of
euthanasia date back from ancient Greece and Rome and has become more and more well known in
the present time.
In order to deal with the question of euthanasia properly, it is first necessary to define it. Generally,
euthanasia requires the physician to perform a medical procedure that causes death directly.
Euthanasia should clearly be defined as a deliberate act or omission that causes death, undertaken by
one person with the primary intention of ending the life of another person, in order to relieve

Essay on Lesson of the Evils of Liquor
A chemistry teacher wanted to teach his 9th grade class a lesson about the evils of liquor, so he
produced an experiment that involved a glass of water, a glass of whiskey, and two worms.
quot; Now, class, observe the worms closely, quot; he said, putting a worm first into the water. The
worm in the water writhed about, happy as a worm in water could be.
The second worm he put into the whiskey. It writhed painfully, and quickly sank to the bottom, dead
as a doornail.
quot; Now, what lesson can we derive from this experiment? quot; the teacher asked.
One of the students raised his hand and wisely, responded, quot;Drink whiskey and you won t get
worms. quot;

Nike s Company Strategy Is A Clever One
Strengths
Company owns no factories: Nike s company strategy is a clever one. While still in school at Stanford,
the founder Phil Knight thought that instead of paying Americans to put together Nike s shoes, Knight
believed that it would be best to take their manufacturing plants oversees, to places where the labor
would be immensely cheaper than in the United States, for example South Korea and Taiwan. With 86
percent of Nike s products being manufactured in one of the aforementioned countries and Nike
employing a large number of people who lived there, both countries shared in the riches until the
founder decided prices were too high to manufacture there anymore.
Global Market Leader: The footwear and sportswear industry causes constant demand for new
footwear technology around the world and no company has maintained a share in every major market
around the world, like Nike. Nike has the chance to go to countries like India, where the economies
and social statuses of people are changing and growing to allow for companies like Nike to sell their
products. Despite all of the opportunities Nike has in the industry, competition has been strengthening
and the market of fake goods has been growing within the past ten years.
Innovative Culture: The culture of inventing new things is a strong core competency for the Nike
brand. The things left for the future by such invention of new things in search of better, lighter, faster
product performance changes and

Tudor Succession Problems Essays
Tudor Succession Problems
The Tudor period is unique in that it is marked by succession difficulties in every generation. The
Tudor dynasty was plagued by poor health, short lives and a shortage of male claimants to the throne.
For three successive monarchs the throne passed not from ruler to child, but from sibling to sibling
and three consecutive monarchs died childless. Henry VIII s search for a suitable male heir to his
throne had far reaching ramifications. This period is distinctive in that it would start the precedent of
determining the succession by statute in consultation with Parliament. The parliamentary enactments
and wills that he had created complicated the succession issue for future generations in the attempt to

Even if his Beaufort line could be considered for the throne, Henry s mother would be in line to
succeed before him. It was in fact remarkable that Henry VII ever succeeded to the throne and
England accepted him as king for Henry VII was a former attainted exile who did not have a strong
hereditary claim to the throne. But it was his victory at Bosworth field that brought him the throne, not
his descent; his weak hereditary claim gave his accession some semblance of legitimacy. Bosworth
helped him consolidate his dynasty for it not only eliminated some of the other principle claimants to
the English throne, it was regarded by contemporaries as an expression of divine will, as Henry would
tell parliament the true judgement of God in granting him victory over his enemy in the field. In order
to further consolidate his claim Henry married Elizabeth of York. He did so partially at the request of
Parliament, partly because he could not afford the political price of going back on his pre Bosworth
promise and most importantly to prevent anyone with ambitions for the throne from marrying
Elizabeth, who had the stronger claim. However the succession was by no means secure in Henry VII
s reign. When Henry VII s heir Prince Arthur died prematurely on April 2, 1502 Prince Henry was
only ten, and if he were not to survive there remained only his sisters Margaret and Mary. Henry VII
fell ill

  • 3. Butterfly Effect On Monarchs Monarchs have been in danger for the longest time because of all the global warming we cause. One of the many effects of global warming is climate change. The change in the climate can affect the Monarch Butterflies migration and the life cycle,so we have to limit the amount of littering and pollution. BACKGROUND INFORMATION The Monarch Butterfly is the most known butterfly because of its colored wings that warns its predators that it is poisonous. It is found throughout all of North America. The Monarch Butterfly can t fly with a body temperature less than 86 degrees ,so they flap their wings and sit in the sun in order to keep warm. The milkweed is the Monarch s main food source. The milkweed has many positive effects on the Monarch Butterfly. For example, the butterfly lays the eggs on the plants ,and the milkweed gives the poisonous taste to the predators when the caterpillar eats it. The Monarch lay their eggs on the milkweed plant. They usually lay one egg on the plant which is the size of a pencil tip. The yellow or white eggs start to hatch after four days. The female butterflies lay 300 500 eggs through two to five weeks of the process of laying eggs. The next step in the life cycle is the larvae. This is the stage where the monarchs do all of the growing. The caterpillar has many parts that help it survive. Once the caterpillar gets older it starts to shed off its skin. The first part to shed off is the head. The skin starts growing back into the caterpillar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Rockwell Collins Satellite Transportable Terminal The Rockwell Collins Satellite Transportable Terminal (STT) is an important satellite for the signal branch that is used to make communications virtually anywhere. A suspension system needs to be put into the STT so that it will not be damaged while being loaded and transported. There are three shock systems available with different spring constants and damping coefficients. The three shock systems are called Air Coasters, Cloud Riders, and Extreme Shocks. A HMMWV was being tested when it began bouncing up and down, so the soldiers operating the vehicle shut it down for fear of it breaking down. Some engineers re fired the gun so they could take measurements of its displacement from the ground in order to understand what was happening, but they only took measurements for 60 seconds before they shut it down. Free Dampened System Loading the Trailer The suspension system can be modeled using the following equation: m (d^2 x)/(dt^2 )+β dx/dt+kx=f(t) x(t) is the displacement from its rest position in meters, m is the mass of the object in kilograms, β is the damping constant in kg/second, k is the spring constant in kg/sec2, and f(t) is the external force in Newtons (N). The mass of the satellite is 1800 kg and the satellite is at equilibrium when the trailer is loaded. Before the trailer is loaded, the displacement of the shocks is 0.05 meters, so the starting displacement is 0.05. The critically damped value of each shock is calculated in Appendix A. The film marked Ghetto was one of the many films of Hitler s propaganda machine found in this archive. Out of all the films found only one film showed the Jewish life in the Ghettos. This film turned into the documentary called A Film Unfinished. The footage from the film corresponds with the class lectures about the ghettos in regards to conditions, underground secretes, and the Judenrat. Conditions in the ghetto varied in different locations, but in this film, the footage comes from the Warsaw ghettos. The footage of the film corresponds with class lectures by showing the Warsaw ghetto conditions compared to hearing about them in class. The usage of the ghettos was primarily for isolating thousands of Jews from non Jews by having the ghettos surrounded by walls and the last stop before the extermination camps. In many locations, the ghetto conditions had lack of food, various diseases, bad hygiene, and poor housing conditions. The footage from the film shows different clips of the housing conditions in the ghettos. A few of these clips show starving Jews laying on beds in dirty conditions dying from starvation or Typhus. • 7. Iago s Immorality Shakespeare s Iago is one of Shakespeare s most complex villains. At first glance Iago s character seems to be pure evil. However, such a villain would distract from the impact of the play and would be trite. Shakespeare to add depth to his villain makes him amoral, as opposed to the typical immoral villain. Iago s entire scheme begins when the ignorant, ill suited Cassio is given the position he desired. Iago is consumed with envy and plots to steal the position he feels he most justly deserves. Iago deceives, steals, and kills to gain that position. However, it is not that Iago pushes aside his conscience to commit these acts, but that he lacks a conscience to begin with. Iago s amorality can be seen throughout the play and is demonstrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a lot of irony that kills Iago, and what seems to be good for him is worse for other people. He manages to betray almost every person that comes across him, and he will always be happy when he sees others working unwittingly to fulfill his purposes. Iago is a concept more than a character, and the play provides us with a series of images he calls it a panopticon that successively produce an understanding of this concept. The concept of Iago reveals that evil is a pathological derivative of ordinary human practices, that it depends on the good and is secondary to it. In its pure form evil can hardly be understood as a human practice (Escobedo, 2010). The greatest vulnerabilities that Iago sees in other people is that he will use them, and then he will ultimately destroy them, because of his love for being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nursing as care always includes relationship between two or more persons and needs to be inspected from the point of view of equality (Kangasniemi, 2010). Nurses always deal with Physicians, clients, and other nurses. By maintaining equality in the working environment, I believe that there will be lower chance of conflict between nurses, physicians and clients. Equality also helps a nurse to maintain a good professional relationship with his/her clients and colleagues. In my opinion, it is important that nurses should have the knowledge of equality so that they can treat all the patients with the same caliber of care. I believe that if nurses have the knowledge of equality, no patient will suffer because of age, sex, ethnicity, and gender. The symbol chosen for equality in the coat of arms is a justice scale. It represents equality because the scales on both sides are equal. The scale is placed at the center of the heart because it is one of the central qualities of nursing. The scale is drawn inside the heart because equality directly touches human s feelings. They categorized the main integrase region sequences as subtype B, with minor subtypes being C (CRF01 AE, CRF02 AG and CRF13 cpx), D and G. No major integrase drug resistance mutations have been observed in new patients beginning with integrase inhibitor treatment, however in 30 cases, polymorphic variations with the E157Q mutation were observed. This mutation was more common among subtype B (26 cases) than with non B subtypes (5 cases). Major integrase inhibitor drug resistance mutations (G140S, Q148H, N155H, V151I, E92EQ, V151I, G163R) were notable in four of these cases. Time to the development of drug resistance ranged from 3 to 16 months with a mean increase of HIV viral load of 4.34 HIV RNA copies/ml at the time of emergence of the major mutations. The Roosevelt Indian Reservation is situated on the world s current largest deposit of diamonds and no one in the government, the local Indians and the diamond diggers want the diamonds left in the ground. However, the laws in Brazil make it impossible for anyone to begin digging there. Because of the strict laws governing the extraction of the diamonds, it has lead to the region becoming saturated in blood, murder and mayhem. Not only are we able to relate ourselves to a character and now that we are not the only ones like that but we can relate the other characters with our surroundings. They were like little monsters running around the house destroying everything near them, not knowing how to domestically have fun. Even though they were illustrated as a child they had different qualities that distinguished them from a human. Since they are designated as Things it indicates that they are not human (MacDonald 115). Didn t think I would like it seeing that this would be my first time ever seeing a play like this one. I was thinking to myself am I going to like it, will I be able to sit through the whole play without being bored. Within the first couple of seconds, I was amazed at how the characters from the start of the play really drew me in with their chanting and the two characters going on and on about the tale of Antonio Salieri. I liked how they went back and forth about what they heard and who they heard it from. Those two in my opinion really set the play in motion and gave just enough insight on Salieri to have you on your toes. In my mind I m asking the same questions, did Salieri really poison Mozart and if so why to tell it now? I m really into it now just from the first couple minutes. There wasn t a lot of props which I thought was a great idea, seeing that too many props couple draw the attention away from the characters. The play had it s really dark moments, like when Salieri first came on he seems very depressed and angry. My thoughts on Salieri is that he seemed very bitter and insane but the actor playing Salieri really brought this character to life. Nozick s The Examined Life Harsimran Natt Philosophy 1 Final Prompt #1 Value and Meaning Nozick had clear definitions of value and meaning in The Examined Life that can be applied to anyone s life. According to Nozick, meaning involves a connection to something beyond internal boundaries , or values. He also says values possess an internal unified coherence, which are split into two categories: instrumental and intrinsic. According to his definition, there is only certain aspects of life that have meaning and value and there could be changes made to life to make it have more value and meaning. • 19. Seneca s Theory Of Ethics Caught My Interest Born in 1 BCE, Lucius Annaeus Seneca was a Stoic philosopher whose writings cover a vast range of topics concerning the human experience. The public s conception of stoicism as a school of philosophy predominantly focused on embracing misfortune without complaint is somewhat distorted from the actual beliefs its outstanding figures held. Seneca s approach to ethics caught my interest, after thinking over his arguments, I found myself agreeing with much of what he had to say, that is if I interpreted it correctly. I believe the principles espoused by the stoics to be particularly relevant over the past century. The 1920 s is often associated as an age of materialism, an unsustainable time period inundated with mass consumption and fixated on pleasure. Perhaps it is not as extreme as then nowadays, I would not know for I was not alive; however, it feels like we are in a similar climate. Everyone wants the newest products, the new iPhone that comes out every year, that new pair of shoes, that new videogame system, that new watch, or that new house, etc. Although we have yet to reach the world described by Aldous Huxley in that of the literary classic Brave New World, which depicts a society constructed upon drowning in excess consumption of sex and soma, where John, the savage, is perceived as a lunatic for his quaint habits of being virtuous. For three hours and a half in a courtroom at Boise, Ohio, Harry Orchard assembled in the witness chair at the Haywood trial and recounted a record of offenses, slaughter, and murder... the like of which no individual in the overcrowded courtroom had ever thought of. Not in the entire scope of Bloody Gulch literature will there be exposed anything that approaches an equivalent to the atrocious narrative so motionlessly, coolly, and composedly voiced by this audacious, disimpassioned man slaughterer. • 29. Analysis of Gaspard of the Night Gaspard of the Night Gaspard De La Nuit was not published until a year after Aloysius Bertrand s death making an interesting point about how he felt about his own work and its experimental nature. Gaspard De La Nuit was the first important French work to utilize prose poetry as an art form. The prose poem is inspired by medieval literature and thus uses a combination of the medieval traditions, the gothic tradition, and the romantic of the French literary movement. Gaspard comes from the Persian language which is a term meaning the man in charge of the royal treasures, thus by giving the protagonist of these prose poems this name, Aloysius Bertrand intentionally gives the reader the understanding that this is the perspective of a wealthy person, or at the least an individual with some sort of high social class Gaspard de la Nuit is also an old French expression which refers to the devil as he is an embodiment of darkness. The combination of the two leads to a connection in the original readership, who would have all been French people, of someone wealthy or at least connected to wealth and also someone associated with death. Gaspard De La Nuit traverses the line between reality and fantasy. The use of prose poetry is designed to highlight this straddling of lines. As a prose poem is a form of poetry that does not have to accept the stringent rules of poetic forms, so too the story of the poetry does not adhere to anything that is strictly true to life nor is it ... This party was founded in Oakland, California by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale during the 1960 s. This party was dedicated to combating white oppression, and did so by the use of both peaceful and violent actions. Looking back at the history of the Black Panthers, it can be clearly seen that the peaceful idea of equality for all spawned this group and their violent actions for the main reason that they were willing to do anything to defend their beliefs. One of the greatest reasons for the violent actions of the party, should be credited to the co founder named Huey Newton. Huey Newton was a rebellious individual who was suspected of committing many crimes. As minister of defense within the party, Huey was seen as a leader to the members of the organization. In an interview with Newton, he made clear what he wanted the party to stand for, and what they needed to do to achieve this. In an excerpt from the interview transcript, he says that there are two kinds of nationalism, revolutionary and reactionary nationalism. Revolutionary nationalism is first dependent upon a People s revolution with the end goal being the people in power... If you are a reactionary nationalist you are not a socialist and your end goal is the oppression of the people. (Newton 1). From this transcript, it can be inferred what kind of nationalism Huey wants the party to follow. He wants the people to gain power through the use of violence And extremism. As the interview continues, Huey states the views of the Black Panther Party by saying The Black Panther Party, which is a revolutionary group of black people, realizes that we have an identity. We have to realize our black heritage in order to give us strength to move on and progress (Newton 1). By saying this, Huey is announcing to the world that the Black Panthers are going to cause a dramatic change, and implies that they will do whatever is necessary as long as they have the strength. These characters seem to be foils and, at the same time, they are wildly alike. One characteristic that they most obviously share is their quality of being complete and hopeless romantics. Her smile sees pearled perfection. She can knit grace from a twine of air. The heavens sit in every gesture. Of divinities she s most divine (Rostand 29). Cyrano is describing Roxane, the woman with whom he is in love, as if she is an angel, a goddess, some sort of immortal perfection. He describes her to his friend, placing her on the highest pedestal, and worrying that he may not be good enough for her. Earlier, he explains that he kicked Montfleury off the stage not only ... DNA for sex determination was obtained from the prepared toe tips of the amphibians and aromatase samples were collected from the RNA removed from the gonads of atrazine induced females. The authors collected data on mating choice behavior from single and paired frogs of both male groups to ZW stock females placed in a pool together. Testosterone levels were obtained from the same paired and single males by taking centrifuged blood samples and extracting the plasma testosterone. Fertility data was collected by pairing controlled and atrazine exposed males with ZW stock females and gathering eggs and embryos from these matings. The data collected spans from hatching of the larvae until about two to three years after metamorphosis. For the morphometric measurements, statistical analyses were performed. The dilator larynges were examined by the proportion extended beyond the thiohyral in order to determine the significance of the length of the extension. The presence or absence of observable nuptial pads was analyzed, to determine it as a sex characteristic of males. Breeding glands were evaluated by considering the maximum area of the largest gland which was then compared to the areas of other glands to observe the size differences between the control and atrazine treated males. • 44. Water Should Be Clean And Safe For Consumption Introduction Water is a crucial part of life; the human body is made up of 75 percent water, (Pandey, 2005). It is one of the most pivotal nutrients in the human body due to its functions like carrying nutrients in and out of cells in living creatures. Water is also essential in the removal of waste products from the body and also in the regulation of body temperature in warm blooded organisms, (Pandey, 2005). Research has revealed that human beings can live without food for a month, but they cannot last more than seven days without water; if the body loses more than ten to fifteen percent of water, it can be fatal and lead to death, (Pandey, 2005). Due to the vital nature of this resource, water should be clean and safe for consumption ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Countries with such vulnerabilities with respect to lack of clean and safe water are predisposed to water related diseases such as cholera, dysentery, and diarrhea, this is from a United Nations report which also stated that these diseases have a potential to stifle growth, (Pandey, 2005). Research reports on the impact of water related illnesses reveal that thousands of outbreaks occurs and are mostly due to bacterial parasitic and virus microorganism; these outbreaks occur mainly due to the consumption of untreated water. The world health organization in the year 1996 estimated that every eight seconds, a person would die due to illness that emanates from drinking unsafe water; this means that over five million people die of such illnesses annually which is a very high number considering the advances made with respect to water pollution control. An important portion of the health burden caused by water related diseases can be attributed to the way water resources are managed and developed; some of the resources being cited include dams and irrigation schemes. These resources increase incidences of Malaria, schistosomiasis, Japanese encephalitis in areas they have been established, (Pandey, 2005). • 45. Analysis Of The Poem Horse And Gentlemen In his essay, Horse and Gentlemen, T.H. Breen describes the cultural significance of gambling, specifically in relation to the quarter horse races, in late 17th century Virginia. Breen primarily argues that the three main aspects of gambling competitiveness, materialism, and individualism reflected and reinforced the socio economic structure of Virginia in this period. The high stakes wagers of the affluent planters reinforced their dominant status in the social structure and the gentry s right to rule over this colony. Breen s argument to this effect is supported by letters, court transcripts, documentation of wagers, and other written first hand accounts. Breen s case for the cultural significance of gambling has persuasive arguments for its representation of competitiveness and materialism. However, his argument for individualism has contrary elements and his essay would have been improved with the inclusion of women s role in the gambling culture. Gambling in any form is an inherently competitive activity. Breen argues that this fundamental competitiveness was important for the gentry to air their grievances in a non violent outlet and that it provided a chance to improve their social standing. Breen begins by describing the household wagers that took place between the wealthiest planters. Durand of Dauphine, a Frenchman, observed the gentlemen from the House of Burgesses begin their gambling after dinner and attested to them still gambling when he arose in the ... The motivations were various and complex, from trying to advance from social dissipation to trying to supplement the education that was denied to them as children. However, as illustrated by eighteenth century French theologian and moralist, Jacques Joseph Duget, there was a perception of frivolous and licentious salon women in the seventeenth century corrupting society, particularly by feminizing men. Salons in the eighteenth century had evolved from this, now trying to revive society through the philosophes Republic of Letters. The salons were reclaimed from aristocracy and utilized by the philosophes as a space of collaboration and intellectual exchange, fostering Enlightenment ideas, particularly egalitarianism. Salons were characterized by the acknowledged equality among the participants as well as the birth of intellectual practice as a valuable interest. The serious tone of the salon as a workspace provided philosophes with the environment necessary to spread the ideals of the Enlightenment, including the involvement of women in the enlightened community. The Republic of Letters developed complementarily with the salon s social, institutional advancements, mirroring the interconnectivity of philosophes and salonnières alike in the Enlightenment project. While still in school at Stanford, the founder Phil Knight thought that instead of paying Americans to put together Nike s shoes, Knight believed that it would be best to take their manufacturing plants oversees, to places where the labor would be immensely cheaper than in the United States, for example South Korea and Taiwan. With 86 percent of Nike s products being manufactured in one of the aforementioned countries and Nike employing a large number of people who lived there, both countries shared in the riches until the founder decided prices were too high to manufacture there anymore. Global Market Leader: The footwear and sportswear industry causes constant demand for new footwear technology around the world and no company has maintained a share in every major market around the world, like Nike. Nike has the chance to go to countries like India, where the economies and social statuses of people are changing and growing to allow for companies like Nike to sell their products. Despite all of the opportunities Nike has in the industry, competition has been strengthening and the market of fake goods has been growing within the past ten years. The Tudor dynasty was plagued by poor health, short lives and a shortage of male claimants to the throne. For three successive monarchs the throne passed not from ruler to child, but from sibling to sibling and three consecutive monarchs died childless. Henry VIII s search for a suitable male heir to his throne had far reaching ramifications. This period is distinctive in that it would start the precedent of determining the succession by statute in consultation with Parliament. The parliamentary enactments and wills that he had created complicated the succession issue for future generations in the attempt to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if his Beaufort line could be considered for the throne, Henry s mother would be in line to succeed before him. It was in fact remarkable that Henry VII ever succeeded to the throne and England accepted him as king for Henry VII was a former attainted exile who did not have a strong hereditary claim to the throne. But it was his victory at Bosworth field that brought him the throne, not his descent; his weak hereditary claim gave his accession some semblance of legitimacy. Bosworth helped him consolidate his dynasty for it not only eliminated some of the other principle claimants to the English throne, it was regarded by contemporaries as an expression of divine will, as Henry would tell parliament the true judgement of God in granting him victory over his enemy in the field. In order to further consolidate his claim Henry married Elizabeth of York. He did so partially at the request of Parliament, partly because he could not afford the political price of going back on his pre Bosworth promise and most importantly to prevent anyone with ambitions for the throne from marrying Elizabeth, who had the stronger claim. However the succession was by no means secure in Henry VII s reign. When Henry VII s heir Prince Arthur died prematurely on April 2, 1502 Prince Henry was only ten, and if he were not to survive there remained only his sisters Margaret and Mary. Henry VII fell ill ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
