Checklist of Action Steps for Behavior Change
This is a circular process. Working through steps 2, 3 and 4 may lead to redefining the objective in
step 1. ρ 1. Define your objective. What is your desired end result? You may begin by thinking
broadly, but narrow your objective so it s achievable and, if possible, measurable. How will you know
when you ve achieved your desired result?
ρ 2. Select your audience. Brainstorm the possible audiences you could work with and choose one.
Pick the one most likely to get your desired result.
ρ 3. Learn about your audience. What do they need? What do they want? What do they know? What

I-75 Express Lanes Police Report
Good morning Ms. Crawford: Before I begin, I would first like to thank you again for your inquiry
and interest in the I 75 Express Lanes Project. As previously discussed, your concerns were forwarded
to my project team for review. Please be advised, the I 75 Express Lanes Project currently implements
a number of procedures to ensure motorist safety during construction. The Department s contractors
are responsible for providing work zone acceleration and deceleration lanes to allow construction
vehicles to safely enter and exit work areas. These work zones access areas are constructed to meet the
Department s guidelines. To ensure safety within the construction zone, the Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT) has hired additional Florida ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though left lane closures are implemented along the corridor, Florida does not have a Statue
mandating left lane restrictions of any kind (i.e. truck/18 wheeler lane restrictions) at this time. These
types of restrictions can be requested and are evaluated on a case by case basis. Also, each restriction
requires an Engineering Study to include closeness of interchanges, percentage of truck traffic, etc., in
order to determine if the restriction will or will not be implemented. Additionally, establishing truck
lane restrictions in a construction zone is not ideal and would be difficult to enforce. With that being
said, please be advised that commercial trucks, such as 18 wheelers and dump trucks, will not be
permitted to travel/utilize the I 75 Express Lanes upon its

Medical Case Study And Analysis
Medical Case Study and Analysis A lot of people around us suffer from different medical conditions
each day. It is important for everyone to be able to assess basic medical reports and make a quick
diagnosis. In this paper, we will be conducting three different case studies relating to
pathophysiological case studies, in order to understand different medical terms related to some very
common medical conditions.
Case Study 1 The first case study we will be analysing is a 60 year old male patient named Mr. John
Smith. It was noted that recently he has been experiencing strong chest pain, and the onset pain was
described as sudden. Also, no vital signs were noted and the patient had no previous medication
history. And also, it has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, we would recommend to the patient to have an electrocardiogram (ECG) test, in order to be
sure that the pain is not a cause of any heart related problems. We would also recommend the patient
perform basic physical exercises, as this would be helpful to relieve them of anxiety and panic
(Richardson, 2012). The patient s caretaker should monitor him carefully and contact the health care
center if he displays any sudden condition of anxiety or panic attack.
Case study 2 The subject of our next case study is a twenty one year old female, who is presented with
a shortness of breath after completing a training session. The patient is noted to be producing an
audible wheeze when breathing. The patient is noted to be currently suffering from asthma and speaks
only in short sentences. Her vital signs include using Ventolin inhaler. Paramedic report shows that her
pulse rate is 140 bpm, which should have been between 70 100 bpm. Higher pulse rate indicates that
the person is prone to sudden asthma attacks (Dawson, 2014), especially after any physical event. Her
blood pressure is 130/70, where we can see that her diastolic pressure is low. Her respiratory rate is 40
bpm, this is a highly dangerous rate for any adult, as respiratory rate should be between 12 20 for any
adult. This indicates that she is suffering from Tachycardia, which is verified through her ECG reports.
Tachycardia is a common type of heart rhythm disorder, where she beats faster than usual

Globalisation
Edward Said states, No one today is purely one thing. Labels like Indian, or woman, or Muslim, or
American are no more than starting points. Said s idea illustrates the evolution of relations between
communities as a result of globalization, and the understanding and recognition of other cultures
through the interpretation of cultural borders.
In this essay I will analyse to what extent globalisation is affecting identity formation, and also the
roles of cultural borders in today s world. I will assess whether through globalisation of the media we
are in fact overcoming cultural borders and traditional stereotypes and in turn forging a mutual respect
between foreign communities, or as Said argues (Said cited in Crary amp; ... Show more content on

Archival accounts of the continuous race hatred directed against coloured people in Australia...reveal
the sexual and other preoccupations that occupied those white minds from which such fantasies
emanated (p. 43)
Australians wanted little to do with Asia, and besides those who wanted to expand the Western Sphere
of influence in the region (Rizvi 1996, p.175), few Australians traveled to Asia. Asian people were
essentially defined by their race, and by their embodiment of not being European.
It is with these historical perceptions in mind that Said s statement holds extreme worth. Said could be
seen as acknowledging past stereotypical labels enforced on Asian people, and dismissing these labels
in today s world, implying that something has changed to make these labels no more than starting
points . Relating this to Australia/Asia, we note that Australians previously judged Asians purely and
solely on racial grounds: Race became a key explanatory factor not only in academic anthropology,
but more importantly in the popular imagination of Australians. (Rizvi 1996, p. 175).
Cultural confusion and an unwillingness to appreciate local customs and values gave birth to a
contempt for local culture. Local people were simply seen as other , and non European people needed
to be tamed or civilised, made normal (Rizvi 1996, p.175).
Whereas before people of different

Determination Of Hydrochlorimetry Lab Report
Who has the same solid that I have? Submitted by: Leslie Tran October 11th, 2017 Abstract: The
properties of an unknown compound were determined and used to identify which other groups in the
lab section had the same unknown compound. Using a variety of tests such as determining the relative
solubility of the unknown, its relative melting point, the electrical conductivity of the substance and its
aqueous solutions, its appearance in flame, its reactivity, and the acidity/basicity of the aqueous
solutions, these observations were used to compare with another unknown compound. When
determining the compound s reactivity to hydrochloric acid (HCI), both samples 4 and 12 created a
fizzing and bubbling reaction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Samples 6 and 8 had many similar properties to sample 4 such as its solubility, its powdery physical
characteristics, and its relative melting point. However, the results that identified the match was the
compound s reactivity because only samples 4 and 12 had the same reactivity to all three chemical
compounds. Therefore, the reactivity test was conducted again because this property differs from the
others. It was observed that only samples 4 and 12 had a fizzing and bubbling reaction to hydrochloric
acid and no changes occurred when tested with lead nitrate and sodium hydroxide. The relative
solubility test was also used as another confirmatory test because only four groups had an insoluble
compound. Therefore, this test not only verified the similar solubility between samples 4 and 12 but it
also eliminated the other

Maya Angelou s Poems Essay
Maya Angelou s Poems
Maya Angelou s poetry occupies a very special position in her development as a writer (Chow 1). As a
child, Angelou went through five years of complete silence after she was raped at the age of seven
years old, by a man named, Mr. Freeman. As a result of telling about her traumatic experience, her
uncle s literally kicked the man that raped her to death. Beings she spoke of her traumatic experience
and the result of the man dying, she then imagined that her voice had the potential to kill. Thanks to
her teacher, Bertha Flowers, at school Angelou started writing poetry as a means of expression of her
life events through her poetry (Chow 1). Poetry thus played an essential part in the recovery of her
voice, which in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She also conveys in this poem that hard times and painful past experiences aren t reasons to avoid
living life, but yet is a part of what makes one s life . She uses death as a metaphor for life s battles in
her recurring phrase I keep on dying , but adds the idea of starting over and having another chance to
overcome battles that are recurring in her life (12). The title of this particular poem, The Lesson is
very significant to the poem within itself. The lesson that is preached in this poem is about the
constant courage and determination in one s life to defeat and her refusal to be overwhelmed by the
challenges of life. Her hope as a determined woman will get her through her personal and physical
tribulations, and even though each challenge in life offers her up a small dose of death, every time, it
cannot keep her or anybody technically speaking down permanently. When there is a will, there is a
way and Angelou always made a way to get back on her feet and keep it moving.
Mayo Angelou explains the reality between struggles and the beauty of overcoming them in her poem
called Woman Work . This poem is about a mother, preferably, a single mother that has children that
she takes care of. The poem starts off by saying, I ve got children to tend / The clothes to mend / The
floor to mop / The food to shop / Then the chicken to fry / The baby to dry / I got company to feed /

Ghosts In The White House Research Paper
People say there are ghosts in the White House...but is it true? Many Presidents, First Ladies, and even
their dogs have seen different kinds of ghosts roaming the White House halls. There has been a lot of
evidence left behind by ghosts, but no one knows why they are here. There has also been reports of
ghosts that have roamed the front yard of the White House. My theory is that the ghosts are real and
they come during special times to comfort those who need it most. There were all different kinds of
ghosts that roamed the White House that are related to former families of the White House. In the
White House, there are many types of ghosts, such as Abraham Lincoln, Abigail Adams, William
Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Mary Surratt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Another weird thing that happened was right before Trump got elected, random fireworks from the
White House went off even though nobody was there. In conclusion, ghosts come back for certain
times to comfort you. There could be many different ways to solve this mystery. My theory is that the
reason these spirits come back is that they come back for a special time. For example, when the civil
war was going on many ghosts came back because it was a tough time and many people had lost their
loved ones. Also, in this period of time spiritualism was a very common thing and it was normal to see
ghosts. This would sense because the ghosts that people have witnessed came back during special
times like war, death, or even a happy time. Ghost also help comfort during difficult times. For
example, I read on the internet that they help comfort during tough times and that could be why some
ghosts came back while the Civil War was going on. In conclusion, people may think ghosts just come
back to haunt or scare but they actually come back to help comfort you.Overall, the ghost in the White
House are true and they do come to spook whoever they want. I would not want to live in the White
House because I m already scared of the dark so I could not imagine waking up to Lincoln walking the
halls. Who knows maybe there will be a new ghost that comes and visits the White House while

Essay on Characterization in Rappaccini’s Daughter
Characterization in Rappaccini s Daughter
The dialogue, action and motivation revolve about the characters in the story (Abrams 32 33). It is the
purpose of this essay to demonstrate the types of characters present in Nathaniel Hawthorne s
Rappaccini s Daughter, whether static or dynamic, whether flat or round, and whether portrayed
through showing or telling.
The tale takes place in Padua, Italy, where a Naples student named Giovanni Guascanti has relocated
in order to attend the medical school there. His modest room is in an old mansion watched over by the
landlady, Dame Lisabetta, a two dimensional character given to religious expletives like, ``Holy
Virgin, signor! She seeks to make the customer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The reader sees another character enter the tale with the doctor s shout in the infirm voice of a person
affected with inward disease, ` Beatrice! Beatrice! From his window Giovanni sees approaching the
doctor s daughter beautiful as the day, and with a bloom so deep and vivid that one shade more would
have been too much. Her abilities are exceptional because it is apparent to Giovanni that she handled
and inhaled the odor of several of the plants which her father had most sedulously avoided. Beatrice
exhibits an especially close relationship to the purple gem plant, which Rappaccini is too fearful of
tending anymore: ``Yes, my sister, my splendour, it
shall be Beatrice s task to nurse and serve thee; and thou shalt reward her with thy kisses and
perfumed breath, which to her is as the breath of life. Beatrice is slowly developed into a round
character, not as round as Giovanni however.
As the protagonist withdraws from the window of his room in order to lie down, the author shows his
usage of an omniscient narrator in the development of this character: Giovanni, closing the lattice,
went to his couch and dreamed of

Analysis Of Charlie Leduff s Who Killed Aiyana
I can accept the shooting was a mistake, Jones said about his daughter s death as a bleary eyed Stanley
sat motionless next to him. But I can t accept it because they lied about it. I can t heal properly
because of it. It was all for the cameras. I don t want no apology from the police. It s too late (LeDuff,
122). In Charlie LeDuff s story Who Killed Aiyana he discusses the tragic loss of a little girl, all that
lead up to her death and the tragic evet that occurred. The First 48 television show was filming an
episode about a shooting that had occurred nearby involving the father of Aiyana and a teenager
named Je Rean Blake (who had been shot and killed). The cameras were outside the little girls home
and SWAT team that was trying to get into the home ended up throwing in a grenade through the
window and landing nearby Aiyana. Then the lead commander, Officer Joseph Weekley shot his gun
and Aiyana was killed. The SPJ code of ethics were clearly broken many times throughout the
reporting of this story on The First 48. Minimizing harm is one of the main sections of the SPJ ethics
code and is the category that was very much broken by the reporters on this case.
The SPJ code of ethics state, Balance the public s need for information against potential harm or
discomfort. Pursuit of the news is not a license for arrogance or undue intrusiveness Was the need to

The beam of approximately 30 inches gave the kyak excellent stability and combined with a sealable
waterproof gut skin parka and one or two recovery techniques, made it very seaworthy ( Zimmerly,
40). The wood used was drift wood, and was steamed and bent into the prefered shape. The pegs to
hold the ribs in place were made out of specially selected driftwood or caribou antler. The seal skin
was removed from any hair, dried, and then soaked in urine and rain water to make it flexible enough
to sew. Then the skins sewn together with sinew on the outside, and then re sewn on the inside with
dried beach grass to make sure it was waterproof. The skins are then lashed onto the frame and then
oiled with seal oil and then caulked with a mixture of moss and seal oil. (Delta Discovery) The shape
of a qayaq is the most important characteristic to determine whether it will flow well in the water.
When a qayaq floats, it displaces an amount of water that is equal to its weight because water is
incompressible. When the qayaq is moving, it displaces more water. The amount of displacement
depends on the weight of the qayaq and the speed it is moving. If the path of the water was blocked,
say by a flat front, more energy would be needed to move the qayaq. This is why streamlining, or
laminar flow is important and needs to be considered when looking at the physics of a qayaq.

The World Is Becoming More And More Transparent Day By Day...
The world is becoming more and more transparent day by day through globalization since people have
begun to shift their perspective, and change their way of thinking and behave accordingly. Everyone is
spectating different types of cultures and the religions that other people follow across the globe, along
with the mix technological advancements which will ultimately shape what people believe it to be
normal or abnormal. Therefore, with the integration of what seems to be normal in today s world can
be in fact abnormal a 100 years from now, and vice versa. Michael Warner illustrates in his writing,
The Trouble with Normal that, People didn t sweat much over being normal until the spread of
statistics in the nineteenth century. Now they are surrounded by numbers that tell them what normal is:
census figures, market demographics, opinion polls, social science studies, psychological surveys,
clinical tests, sales figures, trends, the mainstream, the current generation, the common man, the man
on the street, the heartland of America etcetera. (Warner, p.53). These are many of the few statistical
perspectives that have taken great leaps through technological advancements and globalization.
Similarly, we get to learn more about the human behavior through cultural and evolutionary
perspectives. These methods can help guide the behavior of normality and abnormality throughout
time. It seems pretty obvious from today s world that the mass migration towards the urban areas

Ningaloo Reef
(a.) Clearly IDENTIFY the coastal environment you have chosen to search
The coastal environment I have decided to talk about today is Ningaloo Reef. The reef is on the
remote western coast of Australia, it includes one of the longest nearshore reefs in the world.
Temperate and tropical currents converge in the Ningaloo region resulting in highly diverse marine
life including spectacular coral reefs, abundant fishes and species with special conservation
significance such as turtles, whale sharks, dugongs, whales and dolphins.
(b.) Describe the location
The reefs latitude ranges from 21°42 14 S 24° 1 52 S (one of the highest for reefs) and the longitude is
between 113°25 E 114° 15. The Ningaloo Reef stretches over 300 km from North West Cape to Red
Bluff, is located in the Ningaloo Marine Bioregion and is the largest fringing coral reef in Australia,
the reef is enclosed within the Ningaloo Marine Park, listed on the World Heritage List in 1987.

Their Eyes Were Watching Janie Analysis
The Impact of the Society and Class theme on Janie In accordance with the turbulent time period it
was written in, Their Eyes Were Watching God comments on many issues within the society of the
1930 s through various themes such as love, nature, and societal standards. However, the theme of
societal standards and expectations is perhaps the most prominent in the story, furthering the main
character Janie s development the most. In the book, despite the standards and rules imposed on her by
society, Janie learns to overcome them, thereby attaining happiness and an emotionally rich life. As a
mixed woman in the southern United States, Janie had always had rules and others expectations thrust
upon her, under the guise of either love or judgement. For example, although Nanny intended for Janie
to find security and eventual happiness through an arranged marriage as a result of her own tragic life
experiences, this backfired, as Janie was only acquired those at forty, after two failed marriages. Her
late second husband Joe Starks imposed societal rules on her, often expressing how women should
stay in the background of matters. After accepting his position as mayor of Eatonville, Joe quickly
took away Janie s attempt at making her own comments on the matter by saying [t]hank yuh fuh yo

The Private Memoirs And Confessions Of A Justified Sinner
The history of gothic literature is a discussion of how the classic gothic literature has morphed into
today s contemporary gothic literature. From the beginning days of gothic writing one of the main
focuses has been on the issues that were relevant in the county or world at the time. Most people think
of gothic writings as a scary story of gloom and doom, but there are many aspects that encompass a
gothic writing. The true is that there are many elements to a gothic writing. The writer does not need
to use all of them at the same time, but to use some of them to make it a gothic writing. As technology
and the social atmosphere have evaluated writers have incorporated these elements into their writing.
Gothic literature is said to have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

America believed that the gothic genre was source of outside evil on the new world. This is supported

Skin Elasticity And How To Keep Skin Elastic
Skin Elasticity And How To Keep Skin Elastic
Introduction
Like other organs in the body, the skin is supposed to remain healthy and elastic throughout life.
However, skin elasticity tends to deteriorate with aging. Exposure to direct rays of the sun, bad
lifestyle habits like smoking, and irregular diets cause damage over a period of time. The good news is
skin elasticity can be revived with simple methods as well as minimally invasive procedures.
How The Body Loses Normal Skin Elasticity
Healthy skin changes shape and then springs back to normal almost instantly. The medical fraternity
considers skin turgor a measure of skin elasticity. Dehydration or fluid loss is responsible for the skin
losing its elasticity and can happen due to various reasons including vomiting or low fluid intake. Skin
with decreased turgor stays in extended position and takes more time to return to normal status.
Topical Treatments To Retain Skin Elasticity
One of the basic elements of healthy skin is to adopt a balanced diet and gather ample rest on a daily
basis. Cleaning and washing the skin regularly helps remove dirt and other impurities thereby
preventing clogging of sensitive skin pores. Ideally, the skin must be washed at least twice a day with
mild soap devoid of fragrance. Subtle use of make up does tend to improve elasticity.
Urban living demands precautionary measures to prevent higher levels of pollution from affecting the
skin. Several oil free moisturizers are available in the local

Since 9/11, radical Islamic groups have hit other countries especially in Europe. While 119 Americans
have been killed by Islamic extremists in twenty three different accounts, Europe has been a target for
these groups with a higher casualty number. Paris alone has more deaths at 130 in a single event, and
fifty other terrorist attacks in Europe occurred in 2017 so far. Whether zero were killed or hundreds
were injured, Europe has been hit immensely in addition to the United States when it comes to
terrorists attacks. The attacks on these predominantly non muslim or islamic countries has increased
since the War of Terrorism started after 9/11. When the United States was hit on September 11th, Al

United States had not been hit by a foreign group since the CIA headquarters shooting in 1993.
October 12, 2002, Al Qaeda also took credit for the attack that happened in Indonesia at a nightclub

as all he wants is more money. He is shown early in the novel to have not been prepared for any
situation like this, as he only permitted Muldoon to purchase one rocket launcher. This demonstrates
that Hammond is not concerned about the lives of the people on the island shown by his unwillingness
to kill the dinosaurs as they are worth a lot of money. He shows a lack of self preservation here, as he
is not thinking rationally and when choosing between the survival of those on the island and making
money, he is more focused on making money. Additionally, he is faced with the choice of paying
Nedry more to ensure he does a good job, or paying him less and facing the consequences. Naturally,
Hammond chooses to pay him less, which causes Nedry to betray him and put the lives of everyone at
risk by turning off the power, and consequently, the fences. This illumes the fact that Hammond s
greed is what ultimately causes the lack of power to the island and the deaths of multiple people.

up a play. They are plot, character, idea, language, music, and spectacle. In any response of a play one
should keep these six elements in mind. The Wolves was written by Sarah DeLappe and is a dramatic
comedy. The first element we should talk about is plot; the plot structure for The Wolves is a variation.
The two plot structures it is similar to the most are climatic and circular. In climatic plot structure the
characteristics are few characters, few locations, late point of attack, and few plots. The Wolves share
the characteristics of few characters, few locations (where they played their games), and a late point of
attack (when number fourteen was killed). Circular plot structure characteristics are it ends where it
began, and the expression of futility and meaninglessness of human effort. The Wolves also ended
where it began (beginning of a soccer game). The actors who portrayed the characters in this
adaptation of The Wolves did an excellent job. They were all how I pictured them in my head from
they acted and how they looked too. Whether it was how number seven acted as a sarcastic bitch to the
captain or when she was portraying her relationship with number fourteen. Another actress who I
really liked in the play was the actress who portrayed number double zero. I liked both of these actress
because how real and serious they took their roles. For instance, the girl that played number seven
when she was in her shouting match with her best friend number fourteen, after the weekend they had
with the two boys, was spit in the face but kept going anyway. For double zero it look like she was
actually going to throw up every time she acted like she needed to, to the point where when she would
come back in view she would look even paler than she did before. The idea behind The Wolves is a
portrait of liberty, life, and the pursuit of happiness for nine girls who just want to play some soccer.
We can see this throughout the play whether it s when they are talking about serious issues like the
Khmer Rouge or when they are all just goofing off eating orange slices. The scene that really shows
this idea is

James Shrodinger What Is The Electron Really
The electron, as we know it, is diagrams and symbols all of which are models. Scientists attempt to
understand the electron s components, shape, movement, etcetera, but the reality shines through. No
one knows. There are approximations and theories but no set in stone criteria. In the article, What Is
The Electron, Really?, the electron fundamentals make sense but are not necessarily true. What Is The
Electron, Really? was written by James J. Morwick at Oakwood Collegiate Institute. In the writing, he
begins by discussing Schrodinger s belief that the electron was a wave. Schrodinger conjured this
when he established a model of a nucleus, that of which repulsed the electron causing it to move wave
like. Schrodinger also revealed that confined

Separating By John Updike And Alice Walker
Separating and Everyday Use are two short stories published by renowned American authors in the
mid 1970s. Although these works relate to two completely opposite topics of controversy in American
history, John Updike and Alice Walker both developed storylines that provide readers with a keener
sense of cultural understanding and include deep moral themes concerning the magnitude of heritage
and family in one s life. Updike s Separating is a story about a couple s struggle to inform their
children of their decision to separate for the summer. Upon their oldest daughter s return from
England, the two arranged a homecoming meal; here, Richard and Joan would have the opportunity to
discuss the situation with all four children so that they might grieve together as a family. In the
presence of three of his children, Richard begins to cry; moved by curiosity, they unearth his secret.
Although the girls seem unaffected, the youngest son frantically and drunkenly erupts; his father then
removes him from the room and shares with him a deep, rewarding conversation about his troubles.
Later that night, the eldest son also returns. Dreadfully, Richard retrieves him and apprises him of the
situation; shocked, the son flees to his bedroom. The parents enter the room and console their
saddened son; when Richard is asked to explain the reasoning behind the separation, he realizes he
had forgotten. Walker s Everyday Use is a tale concerning a mother and her daughter awaiting the

Early Onset Bipolar Disorder Case Study
Understanding the etiology of a child or adolescent diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder may allow a
practitioner, researcher, parent or teacher an acute clarity of the diagnosis. Carlsons et al. (2009),
intent for research was to reaffirm and decipher the multiplicity of descriptions for children and
adolescents diagnosed with Early Onset Bipolar Disorder. While, Youngstrom (2009) identified the
development of the Tripartite Model a high level of negative affect outweighing the positive affect
creating anxiety and depression. The DSM provides us with the symptoms for Bipolar Disorder, yet
the clarity in early onset leaves a vacancy. Although I may agree with the modality of Youngstrom
(2009) I also conform with Carlsons et al. (2009) findings. We need to begin by reviewing biology,
neurology, pharmacotherapy, prodromes and psychosocial behavior to find the comorbidity of any
behavior disorders to provide adequate data with work groups. Assimilating the Tripartite ... Show

Chapter 2: Literature Review
This chapter contains a review of all relevant areas related to the project including Web accessibility,
Web accessibility barriers, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0, Thailand Information and
Communication Technology Policy Framework (2011 2020), Thai Web Content Accessibility
Guidelines (TWCAG), Works about web accessibility in Thailand and Evaluating Accessibility and
Web2Access.
2.1 Web Accessibility
Currently the use of multimedia such as sound, still images, moving images are all used in all website
to make their content more interesting and to make the design of the website aesthetically pleasing,
interesting and easy to read. Therefore, it is a necessity to think how accessible of the content of the
website is, this is called web accessibility which accommodates all the users, such as those with
disabilities, normal users, or elderly. This is particularly important for those with disabilities, websites
should be made with consideration for this group and the content and services should be made
accessible as equal as those normal users (Henry, 2006). Carter and Markel (2001) found that only 1%
of web developers pay attention to the accessibility of the website, this is because most web
developers believe that to make the website accessible a lot of resources would be required, such as
times and money. Currently, there are many websites being developed and more users using. When
websites are designed without any

Symptoms And Treatment Of Bacterial Resistance Essay
As a surgical Technologist in the Operating room, I have witnessed first hand the destruction and
suffering that bacteria can have on the body. Some infections only cause minor discomfort and
inflammation. Other bacteria such as streptococcus can cause horribly debilitating diseases such as
Necrotizing Fasciitis1. I have also seen that bacterial resistance can play a central role in the outcome
of a patient and their future life. Resistance can even determine if a person lives or dies from a
bacterial infection. This is in no way more present to me than in the life of my grandmother who,
through years of diabetic complications and treatment, is now left with less than a handful of
antibiotics that will work to treat her conditions. Dr. Keiji Fukuda of the World Health Organization
said it best, Without urgent, coordinated action by many stakeholders, the world is headed for a post
antibiotic era, in which common infections and minor injuries which have been treatable for decades
can once again kill. 2 With how many people that have infections today, the topic of antibiotics is of
utmost importance. The aim of this paper is to look at the history of antibiotics, how they work and
why they are not working now, and the possibility of better antibiotics in our future. History
Antibiotics themselves are relatively new in the history of health and medicine. In order to better
understand antibiotics we must first understand how we developed them. The germ theory of

The Security Of Online Banking
Billions of financial data transactions occur online every day and bank cybercrimes take place every
day when bank information is compromised by skilled criminal hackers by manipulating a financial
institution s online information system. This causes huge financial loses to the banks and customers.
The evolution history of attacks began more than 10 years ago. Its sophistication has increased on par
with the new security technologies adopted by the bank industry intended to mitigate the problem.
This means there are some flaws in the security of online banking that results in loss of money of
many account holders along with leakage of their personal information to unauthorized persons.
3.2.1 Banking websites
According to a recent study by University of Michigan, in an examination of 214 bank Websites, more
than 75 percent of bank websites have at least one design flaw that could lead to the theft of customer
information and flaws are ones that even an expert user would find difficult to detect and unlike bugs,
cannot be fixed with a patch. It was recommended to use SSL throughout the entire website and to
avoid using links to third party sites. Secure banking websites have become an integral part of our day
to day life from our personal to our job related business. A survey conducted by Pew Internet states
42% of all internet users bank online. With 24/7 access from around the world users can view

Harmony Theory In Phaedo By Plato
In Phaedo, by Plato, Phaedo recounts an incident with Socrates. The story starts with Socrates opening
up saying that Philosophers should not only accept death, but welcome it. After all, although the body
will pass, the soul is able to live on because it is immortal. He uses a lot of his intuition to back up his
claim, but the main rationale is the Argument of Affinity. He claims that the world is very binary.
Things are either incorporeal and invisible, or not. The body is physical, visible and corporeal. Things
like the body that are visible are part of the sensible world and do not last. The soul however is not. It
is invisible and incorporeal. That is why Socrates believes the soul is immortal. Simmias counters

Clearly the harmony of the lyre is not immortal. Harmony doesn t survive the lyre, but rather is
dependent upon the lyre. The lyre is similar to the human body and soul. Harmony is divine and
incorporeal. However, the human body is much like the lyre in that it is both corporeal and visible.
Because the lyre is held together in the proper way and at the right degrees, it is able to exist just as
the soul does only through the appropriate ways and make up of the human body. This leads to the
point that just because things are invisible and incorporeal does not necessarily mean they are
immortal. We need to think of the soul as a different type of harmony.
Socrates objects Simmias claims and refutes Harmony Theory many ways, but the one I find most
notable is that Socrates believes that the soul is the master of the human body and directs and controls
the body. Since the soul is eternal and the body is not, the soul controls the body throughout the
entirety of its life. Socrates comments, further, of all parts of a man, can you mention any other part
that rules him than his soul, especially if it is a wise soul? (Plato 132). Because it has this power, it
tells the body what to do, where to move, and how to act. This is different than the harmony and the
lyre. For example, on the other hand, we previously agreed that if the soul were a harmony, it would
never be out of tune with the

Tale Of Two Cities Satire Analysis
Molly Ivins once said, Satire is traditionally the weapon of the powerless against the powerful. She
has been shown to be correct in many works, including A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. In A
Tale of Two Cities, Dickens uses his position as an influential writer in Victorian London to call for
change and reformation. He mindfully mocks the workings and current events of Victorian London,
and he uses satire to call certain situations to light so that they will never be repeated. This can be seen
through scenes in A Tale of Two Cities, where Dickens mocks the London judicial system, the French
nobility, and The French Republic which formed after the revolution.
Charles Dickens uses satire to point out the faults in the Victorian London courts, such as the way
anyone would be proven guilty and then executed for the smallest of crimes. This is seen when
Dickens states: That, for these reasons, the jury, being a loyal jury (as he knew they were), and being a
responsible jury (as they knew they were), must positively find the prisoner Guilty, and make an end
of him, whether they liked it or not...in short, that there never more could be, for them or theirs, any
laying of heads upon pillows at all, unless the prisoner s head was taken off, (Dickens, Page 69).
Dickens is satirizing this system because it is extremely harsh and unfair, with execution becoming the
sentence for everything. He is bringing the problem to light so that it may be resolved before it
contributes to civil unrest.
Charles Dickens also uses satire to show the ridiculousness and selfishness of nobility. It is displayed
when Monseigneur is receiving his hot chocolate: Yes. It took four men, all four a blaze with gorgeous
decoration, and the chief of them unable to exist with fewer than two gold watches in his pocket,
emulative of the noble and chaste fashion set by Monseigneur, to conduct the happy chocolate to
Monseigneur s lips, (Dickens, Page 108). This shows that the nobles were so extravagantly ridiculous,
that they required four men simply to help them prepare and drink hot chocolate, whereas any
commoner could do it all themselves. An example of selfishness in nobility from A Tale of Two Cities
is when Monseigneur states his

Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia
Abstract
Clinical problem: Oral care and ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) is extremely important in all
healthcare organizations and has gained increased attention. For this reason, oral care has been
introduced in many hospital settings. However, there is not enough evidence on critically ill patients
concerning the effect of oral care interventions on the development of VAP. In order to evaluate the
effect of oral care on VAP for hospitalized patients, additional studies are required.
Objective: To determine if oral care lowers the incidence rate of hospital acquired pneumonia
infection in hospitalized patients with ventilators.

John Scott Biography
Standing at 6 8 280lb John Scott is one of the biggest players in the NHL, and while he may seem
useless due to stats, I am here to prove you wrong. He may only have five goals and 10 points but he
would still be an asset to have, for example, he is still a young player; only 32 years old. Scott still has
a lot of time to improve his game and personally I can see him playing 2nd line minutes and maybe
even first in Edmonton and I want to talk about his upsides. As previously stated Scott still has a ton of
time to improve and while he may be 32, he still has about 8 years left to play. Being in the game for a
long time he would bring a lot of leadership to the Edmonton Oilers and that is one of the main things
that the team lacks. It s also important to know that Edmonton still needs a captain and I personally
think John Scott would be an excellent fit because he is able to lead his team to the playoffs, or close
in this case. An example of this is the team he played for last season, San Jose Sharks, he played 38
games and scored three goals which is an average of a goal every 12 games. In contrast Andrew
Ference scored the same amount of goals in 70 games and he was the captain so the conclusion
everyone should have is that Scott would be a much better captain than Ference. ... Show more content

The Evolution And Relevance Of Immigration
The Evolution of Immigration:
The evolution and relevance of Immigration in the United States.
Another way of indicating the importance of immigration to America is to point out that every
American who ever lived, with the exception of one group, was an immigrant himself or a descendent
of immigrants, (Kennedy, 2). The United States is a nation of immigrants. There are, however, many
Americans who are not accepting of the fact that immigrants were the reason why this country is able
to have a population, economy and democracy. To ignore immigrants, is to ignore our history and how
America is the way it is now. The immigrant culture of America is relevant to not only every
individual US citizen, but also every person living across seas. World War Two is one of the most
important turning points regarding immigration into the U.S., Kennedy embodies the American story
when he says, To know America, then, it is necessary to understand this peculiar American social
revolution. It is necessary to know why over 42 million people gave up their settled lives to start anew
in a strange land. (Kennedy, 3). This quote is representative of how the country began, and how the
immigrants of that time had a desire to enunciate the Declaration of Independence. The outcome was
successful in the U.S. in many ways: Between the time frame of 1770 to 1820 came federal and state
governments, a prosperous economy, and a population that grew from 2 million to 9 million. This

Imperialist Education In African American Imperialism
Imperialist education destroyed key aspects of African storytelling culture during colonialist attempts
to replace African traditions with European customs. Before the invention of writing and even after,
history was told orally. In Mali, griots were the professional historians who told the history of a tribe
or important lineage. They passed on stories deeply rooted in traditions, customs, and the past. (Clark
253) In many cases, where griots did not exist, it was simply the responsibility of elders to recount
their wisdoms and the tribe s history to the children (Clark 261). This tradition created a fluid account
of antiquity as griots could only rely on their memories to describe information. Their stories also
include cultural explanations of natural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This European interference in African historical storytelling destroyed parts of the uniquely
constructed explanations that were no more wrong than the scientific explanations. In general,
education destroys the truth of imaginative stories because it teaches which explanation is correct
when both are equally legitimate. Part of the reason to imperialize, according to J. A. Hobson, author
of Imperialism: A Study, is the ability to control the education of the colonized. To the ignorant public,
education is a reason to imperialize for it is seen as generous of the mother country to enlighten
primitive Africans. Once able to control the education of children, it is easier to impose ideas of racial
inferiority, corrupted measures of value, and European morals. (Hobson 229) This education, however
beneficial or otherwise, plausibly diminished inventive African explanations of nature, but also
destroyed the need for griots. Once Europeans and eventually Africans could begin writing down their
stories, the oral storytellers of the past were not needed. The essential and important part of Mali s
history and cultural became much less

Taxing Bad Food
Healthy food now ceases to be on everyone s menu. The food pyramid was only there for show not

if someone eats celery they are most likely forced to instead of wanting to. To consider a change in
one s mind there will be statistics, experiences, and cold hard evidence of these foods we so call love .
In the article Bad Food? Tax it, and Subsidize Vegetables , the author is trying to persuade and
convince that the food sold in the stores and given at school is harming our bodies. The author has this
notion of where things like soda, chips, and candy should be taxed. He explains that these sources are
the causes of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. It does make sense of understanding how that
unhealthiness affects someone. The products are full with sugars, salts, greases, saturated fats, and
preservatives. The products we eat now are a recipe for disaster. It causes or blood pressure to rise, our

A Glasgow Coma Score of 8 or less also is an indication that the patient will need to be intubated

vessels causing vasoconstriction which lessens the amount of blood circulating in the brain resulting
in a decreased ICP (Zink and McQuillan, 2005). According to Zink and McQuillan, this intervention
should only be utilized 24 hours after the initial injury because cerebral blood flow is often reduced at
this point and constricting the vessels more may cause ischemia to occur. While using this technique it
is important to monitor oxygenation to the brain tissue to assure no irreparable damage is

After the successful reverse stock split only a small percentage of stock still remained with outsiders,
but was closely monitored for the next 20years to maintain the private state of firm control. It is hard
to find negatives for being so private because Kohler has been so successful at it. A few possible
reasons for big companies such as Kohler to have public shares is because they offer a new source of
capital, a cash flow for acquisitions, liquidity for estate planning and a means to reward employees
with options. Kohler could make the counter to these public offers by saying we may not have these
public options, but who is going to take us over anyway... we re Kohler. Why recapitalize: In 1998,
Herbert Kohler proposed to buy back all the shares from outsiders and further restrict the selling of
shares to outsiders. There were many reasons for this recapitalization plan: Herbert Kohler did not like
the high speculative prices that the shares were selling for. People started to think that Kohler would
go public and it would increase the share prices. Therefore, they paid higher prices for the Kohler
stock with the expectations that the stock price would go higher. He thought that it might entice the
family members to sell their shares to outsiders.

Morgan commented on how losing the weight was extremely difficult and purging himself from fast
food was almost like being weaned off an addicting drug.
I believe that one of the main causes for an increasingly overweight and obese American population is
the fast food industry. With fast food being convenient and cheaper the average busy American turns
to it as a source of nutrition more times than not. Fast food in general is high in fat and sugars with
little nutritional value. Eating this daily or even 3 5 times a week can most definitely negatively affect
your person. I feel I can also speak from personal experience knowing that when I eat a heavy burger
and don t exercise I feel much more tired and cloudier than I would on any given day.
Although they get the most of the flack, it seems to me that we can t point the blame all at the fast
food industry on America s weight problems. The credit for our weight issues not only goes to the fast
food industry, but the general public as well. The fast food industry encourages the public to buy their
food through advertisement and even reward systems, but the general public is too naive or generally
don t care enough about their well being to attempt to eat a healthier diet. Today I believe the general
public is leaning more towards a healthier diet with the constant knowledge being produced daily on

  • 4. I-75 Express Lanes Police Report Good morning Ms. Crawford: Before I begin, I would first like to thank you again for your inquiry and interest in the I 75 Express Lanes Project. As previously discussed, your concerns were forwarded to my project team for review. Please be advised, the I 75 Express Lanes Project currently implements a number of procedures to ensure motorist safety during construction. The Department s contractors are responsible for providing work zone acceleration and deceleration lanes to allow construction vehicles to safely enter and exit work areas. These work zones access areas are constructed to meet the Department s guidelines. To ensure safety within the construction zone, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has hired additional Florida ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though left lane closures are implemented along the corridor, Florida does not have a Statue mandating left lane restrictions of any kind (i.e. truck/18 wheeler lane restrictions) at this time. These types of restrictions can be requested and are evaluated on a case by case basis. Also, each restriction requires an Engineering Study to include closeness of interchanges, percentage of truck traffic, etc., in order to determine if the restriction will or will not be implemented. Additionally, establishing truck lane restrictions in a construction zone is not ideal and would be difficult to enforce. With that being said, please be advised that commercial trucks, such as 18 wheelers and dump trucks, will not be permitted to travel/utilize the I 75 Express Lanes upon its ... • 5. Medical Case Study And Analysis Medical Case Study and Analysis A lot of people around us suffer from different medical conditions each day. It is important for everyone to be able to assess basic medical reports and make a quick diagnosis. In this paper, we will be conducting three different case studies relating to pathophysiological case studies, in order to understand different medical terms related to some very common medical conditions. Case Study 1 The first case study we will be analysing is a 60 year old male patient named Mr. John Smith. It was noted that recently he has been experiencing strong chest pain, and the onset pain was described as sudden. Also, no vital signs were noted and the patient had no previous medication history. And also, it has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Further, we would recommend to the patient to have an electrocardiogram (ECG) test, in order to be sure that the pain is not a cause of any heart related problems. We would also recommend the patient perform basic physical exercises, as this would be helpful to relieve them of anxiety and panic (Richardson, 2012). The patient s caretaker should monitor him carefully and contact the health care center if he displays any sudden condition of anxiety or panic attack. Case study 2 The subject of our next case study is a twenty one year old female, who is presented with a shortness of breath after completing a training session. The patient is noted to be producing an audible wheeze when breathing. The patient is noted to be currently suffering from asthma and speaks only in short sentences. Her vital signs include using Ventolin inhaler. Paramedic report shows that her pulse rate is 140 bpm, which should have been between 70 100 bpm. Higher pulse rate indicates that the person is prone to sudden asthma attacks (Dawson, 2014), especially after any physical event. Her blood pressure is 130/70, where we can see that her diastolic pressure is low. Her respiratory rate is 40 bpm, this is a highly dangerous rate for any adult, as respiratory rate should be between 12 20 for any adult. This indicates that she is suffering from Tachycardia, which is verified through her ECG reports. Tachycardia is a common type of heart rhythm disorder, where she beats faster than usual ... • 6. Globalisation Edward Said states, No one today is purely one thing. Labels like Indian, or woman, or Muslim, or American are no more than starting points. Said s idea illustrates the evolution of relations between communities as a result of globalization, and the understanding and recognition of other cultures through the interpretation of cultural borders. In this essay I will analyse to what extent globalisation is affecting identity formation, and also the roles of cultural borders in today s world. I will assess whether through globalisation of the media we are in fact overcoming cultural borders and traditional stereotypes and in turn forging a mutual respect between foreign communities, or as Said argues (Said cited in Crary amp; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Archival accounts of the continuous race hatred directed against coloured people in Australia...reveal the sexual and other preoccupations that occupied those white minds from which such fantasies emanated (p. 43) Australians wanted little to do with Asia, and besides those who wanted to expand the Western Sphere of influence in the region (Rizvi 1996, p.175), few Australians traveled to Asia. Asian people were essentially defined by their race, and by their embodiment of not being European. It is with these historical perceptions in mind that Said s statement holds extreme worth. Said could be seen as acknowledging past stereotypical labels enforced on Asian people, and dismissing these labels in today s world, implying that something has changed to make these labels no more than starting points . Relating this to Australia/Asia, we note that Australians previously judged Asians purely and solely on racial grounds: Race became a key explanatory factor not only in academic anthropology, but more importantly in the popular imagination of Australians. (Rizvi 1996, p. 175). Cultural confusion and an unwillingness to appreciate local customs and values gave birth to a contempt for local culture. Local people were simply seen as other , and non European people needed to be tamed or civilised, made normal (Rizvi 1996, p.175). Whereas before people of different ... • 7. Determination Of Hydrochlorimetry Lab Report Who has the same solid that I have? Submitted by: Leslie Tran October 11th, 2017 Abstract: The properties of an unknown compound were determined and used to identify which other groups in the lab section had the same unknown compound. Using a variety of tests such as determining the relative solubility of the unknown, its relative melting point, the electrical conductivity of the substance and its aqueous solutions, its appearance in flame, its reactivity, and the acidity/basicity of the aqueous solutions, these observations were used to compare with another unknown compound. When determining the compound s reactivity to hydrochloric acid (HCI), both samples 4 and 12 created a fizzing and bubbling reaction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Samples 6 and 8 had many similar properties to sample 4 such as its solubility, its powdery physical characteristics, and its relative melting point. However, the results that identified the match was the compound s reactivity because only samples 4 and 12 had the same reactivity to all three chemical compounds. Therefore, the reactivity test was conducted again because this property differs from the others. It was observed that only samples 4 and 12 had a fizzing and bubbling reaction to hydrochloric acid and no changes occurred when tested with lead nitrate and sodium hydroxide. The relative solubility test was also used as another confirmatory test because only four groups had an insoluble compound. Therefore, this test not only verified the similar solubility between samples 4 and 12 but it also eliminated the other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Maya Angelou s Poems Essay Maya Angelou s Poems Maya Angelou s poetry occupies a very special position in her development as a writer (Chow 1). As a child, Angelou went through five years of complete silence after she was raped at the age of seven years old, by a man named, Mr. Freeman. As a result of telling about her traumatic experience, her uncle s literally kicked the man that raped her to death. Beings she spoke of her traumatic experience and the result of the man dying, she then imagined that her voice had the potential to kill. Thanks to her teacher, Bertha Flowers, at school Angelou started writing poetry as a means of expression of her life events through her poetry (Chow 1). Poetry thus played an essential part in the recovery of her voice, which in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She also conveys in this poem that hard times and painful past experiences aren t reasons to avoid living life, but yet is a part of what makes one s life . She uses death as a metaphor for life s battles in her recurring phrase I keep on dying , but adds the idea of starting over and having another chance to overcome battles that are recurring in her life (12). The title of this particular poem, The Lesson is very significant to the poem within itself. The lesson that is preached in this poem is about the constant courage and determination in one s life to defeat and her refusal to be overwhelmed by the challenges of life. Her hope as a determined woman will get her through her personal and physical tribulations, and even though each challenge in life offers her up a small dose of death, every time, it cannot keep her or anybody technically speaking down permanently. When there is a will, there is a way and Angelou always made a way to get back on her feet and keep it moving. Mayo Angelou explains the reality between struggles and the beauty of overcoming them in her poem called Woman Work . This poem is about a mother, preferably, a single mother that has children that she takes care of. The poem starts off by saying, I ve got children to tend / The clothes to mend / The floor to mop / The food to shop / Then the chicken to fry / The baby to dry / I got company to feed / The garden to weed / I ve got shirts to press / ... • 9. Ghosts In The White House Research Paper People say there are ghosts in the White House...but is it true? Many Presidents, First Ladies, and even their dogs have seen different kinds of ghosts roaming the White House halls. There has been a lot of evidence left behind by ghosts, but no one knows why they are here. There has also been reports of ghosts that have roamed the front yard of the White House. My theory is that the ghosts are real and they come during special times to comfort those who need it most. There were all different kinds of ghosts that roamed the White House that are related to former families of the White House. In the White House, there are many types of ghosts, such as Abraham Lincoln, Abigail Adams, William Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Mary Surratt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another weird thing that happened was right before Trump got elected, random fireworks from the White House went off even though nobody was there. In conclusion, ghosts come back for certain times to comfort you. There could be many different ways to solve this mystery. My theory is that the reason these spirits come back is that they come back for a special time. For example, when the civil war was going on many ghosts came back because it was a tough time and many people had lost their loved ones. Also, in this period of time spiritualism was a very common thing and it was normal to see ghosts. This would sense because the ghosts that people have witnessed came back during special times like war, death, or even a happy time. Ghost also help comfort during difficult times. For example, I read on the internet that they help comfort during tough times and that could be why some ghosts came back while the Civil War was going on. • 10. Essay on Characterization in Rappaccini’s Daughter Characterization in Rappaccini s Daughter The dialogue, action and motivation revolve about the characters in the story (Abrams 32 33). It is the purpose of this essay to demonstrate the types of characters present in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Rappaccini s Daughter, whether static or dynamic, whether flat or round, and whether portrayed through showing or telling. The tale takes place in Padua, Italy, where a Naples student named Giovanni Guascanti has relocated in order to attend the medical school there. The reader sees another character enter the tale with the doctor s shout in the infirm voice of a person affected with inward disease, ` Beatrice! Beatrice! Her abilities are exceptional because it is apparent to Giovanni that she handled and inhaled the odor of several of the plants which her father had most sedulously avoided. Beatrice exhibits an especially close relationship to the purple gem plant, which Rappaccini is too fearful of tending anymore: ``Yes, my sister, my splendour, it shall be Beatrice s task to nurse and serve thee; and thou shalt reward her with thy kisses and perfumed breath, which to her is as the breath of life. Beatrice is slowly developed into a round character, not as round as Giovanni however. As the protagonist withdraws from the window of his room in order to lie down, the author shows his usage of an omniscient narrator in the development of this character: Giovanni, closing the lattice, went to his couch and dreamed of ... But I can t accept it because they lied about it. I can t heal properly because of it. It was all for the cameras. I don t want no apology from the police. It s too late (LeDuff, 122). In Charlie LeDuff s story Who Killed Aiyana he discusses the tragic loss of a little girl, all that lead up to her death and the tragic evet that occurred. The First 48 television show was filming an episode about a shooting that had occurred nearby involving the father of Aiyana and a teenager named Je Rean Blake (who had been shot and killed). The cameras were outside the little girls home and SWAT team that was trying to get into the home ended up throwing in a grenade through the window and landing nearby Aiyana. Then the lead commander, Officer Joseph Weekley shot his gun and Aiyana was killed. The SPJ code of ethics were clearly broken many times throughout the reporting of this story on The First 48. When a qayaq floats, it displaces an amount of water that is equal to its weight because water is incompressible. When the qayaq is moving, it displaces more water. The amount of displacement depends on the weight of the qayaq and the speed it is moving. If the path of the water was blocked, say by a flat front, more energy would be needed to move the qayaq. This is why streamlining, or laminar flow is important and needs to be considered when looking at the physics of a qayaq. (http://www.rockisland.com/~kyak/floatbod.html) There ... The world is becoming more and more transparent day by day through globalization since people have begun to shift their perspective, and change their way of thinking and behave accordingly. Everyone is spectating different types of cultures and the religions that other people follow across the globe, along with the mix technological advancements which will ultimately shape what people believe it to be normal or abnormal. Therefore, with the integration of what seems to be normal in today s world can be in fact abnormal a 100 years from now, and vice versa. Michael Warner illustrates in his writing, The Trouble with Normal that, People didn t sweat much over being normal until the spread of statistics in the nineteenth century. Now they are surrounded by numbers that tell them what normal is: census figures, market demographics, opinion polls, social science studies, psychological surveys, clinical tests, sales figures, trends, the mainstream, the current generation, the common man, the man on the street, the heartland of America etcetera. (Warner, p.53). These are many of the few statistical perspectives that have taken great leaps through technological advancements and globalization. However, the theme of societal standards and expectations is perhaps the most prominent in the story, furthering the main character Janie s development the most. In the book, despite the standards and rules imposed on her by society, Janie learns to overcome them, thereby attaining happiness and an emotionally rich life. As a mixed woman in the southern United States, Janie had always had rules and others expectations thrust upon her, under the guise of either love or judgement. Skin Elasticity And How To Keep Skin Elastic Skin Elasticity And How To Keep Skin Elastic Introduction Like other organs in the body, the skin is supposed to remain healthy and elastic throughout life. However, skin elasticity tends to deteriorate with aging. Exposure to direct rays of the sun, bad lifestyle habits like smoking, and irregular diets cause damage over a period of time. The good news is skin elasticity can be revived with simple methods as well as minimally invasive procedures. How The Body Loses Normal Skin Elasticity Healthy skin changes shape and then springs back to normal almost instantly. The medical fraternity considers skin turgor a measure of skin elasticity. Dehydration or fluid loss is responsible for the skin losing its elasticity and can happen due to various reasons including vomiting or low fluid intake. Skin with decreased turgor stays in extended position and takes more time to return to normal status. Topical Treatments To Retain Skin Elasticity One of the basic elements of healthy skin is to adopt a balanced diet and gather ample rest on a daily basis. Cleaning and washing the skin regularly helps remove dirt and other impurities thereby preventing clogging of sensitive skin pores. Ideally, the skin must be washed at least twice a day with mild soap devoid of fragrance. Subtle use of make up does tend to improve elasticity. • 20. Plot Structures In The Wolves By Sarah Delappe Aristotle wrote the book called Poetics. In this book Aristotle talks about the six elements that make up a play. They are plot, character, idea, language, music, and spectacle. In any response of a play one should keep these six elements in mind. The Wolves was written by Sarah DeLappe and is a dramatic comedy. The first element we should talk about is plot; the plot structure for The Wolves is a variation. The two plot structures it is similar to the most are climatic and circular. In climatic plot structure the characteristics are few characters, few locations, late point of attack, and few plots. The Wolves share the characteristics of few characters, few locations (where they played their games), and a late point of attack (when number fourteen was killed). Circular plot structure characteristics are it ends where it began, and the expression of futility and meaninglessness of human effort. The Wolves also ended where it began (beginning of a soccer game). The actors who portrayed the characters in this adaptation of The Wolves did an excellent job. They were all how I pictured them in my head from they acted and how they looked too. Whether it was how number seven acted as a sarcastic bitch to the captain or when she was portraying her relationship with number fourteen. Another actress who I really liked in the play was the actress who portrayed number double zero. I liked both of these actress because how real and serious they took their roles. For instance, the girl that played number seven when she was in her shouting match with her best friend number fourteen, after the weekend they had with the two boys, was spit in the face but kept going anyway. For double zero it look like she was actually going to throw up every time she acted like she needed to, to the point where when she would come back in view she would look even paler than she did before. The idea behind The Wolves is a portrait of liberty, life, and the pursuit of happiness for nine girls who just want to play some soccer. We can see this throughout the play whether it s when they are talking about serious issues like the Khmer Rouge or when they are all just goofing off eating orange slices. • 27. Harmony Theory In Phaedo By Plato In Phaedo, by Plato, Phaedo recounts an incident with Socrates. The story starts with Socrates opening up saying that Philosophers should not only accept death, but welcome it. After all, although the body will pass, the soul is able to live on because it is immortal. He uses a lot of his intuition to back up his claim, but the main rationale is the Argument of Affinity. He claims that the world is very binary. Things are either incorporeal and invisible, or not. The body is physical, visible and corporeal. Things like the body that are visible are part of the sensible world and do not last. The soul however is not. It is invisible and incorporeal. That is why Socrates believes the soul is immortal. Harmony doesn t survive the lyre, but rather is dependent upon the lyre. The lyre is similar to the human body and soul. Harmony is divine and incorporeal. However, the human body is much like the lyre in that it is both corporeal and visible. Because the lyre is held together in the proper way and at the right degrees, it is able to exist just as the soul does only through the appropriate ways and make up of the human body. This leads to the point that just because things are invisible and incorporeal does not necessarily mean they are immortal. We need to think of the soul as a different type of harmony. Socrates objects Simmias claims and refutes Harmony Theory many ways, but the one I find most notable is that Socrates believes that the soul is the master of the human body and directs and controls the body. Since the soul is eternal and the body is not, the soul controls the body throughout the entirety of its life. Socrates comments, further, of all parts of a man, can you mention any other part that rules him than his soul, especially if it is a wise soul? (Plato 132). Because it has this power, it tells the body what to do, where to move, and how to act. This is different than the harmony and the lyre. • 28. Tale Of Two Cities Satire Analysis Molly Ivins once said, Satire is traditionally the weapon of the powerless against the powerful. She has been shown to be correct in many works, including A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. In A Tale of Two Cities, Dickens uses his position as an influential writer in Victorian London to call for change and reformation. He mindfully mocks the workings and current events of Victorian London, and he uses satire to call certain situations to light so that they will never be repeated. This can be seen through scenes in A Tale of Two Cities, where Dickens mocks the London judicial system, the French nobility, and The French Republic which formed after the revolution. Charles Dickens uses satire to point out the faults in the Victorian London courts, such as the way anyone would be proven guilty and then executed for the smallest of crimes. This is seen when Dickens states: That, for these reasons, the jury, being a loyal jury (as he knew they were), and being a responsible jury (as they knew they were), must positively find the prisoner Guilty, and make an end of him, whether they liked it or not...in short, that there never more could be, for them or theirs, any laying of heads upon pillows at all, unless the prisoner s head was taken off, (Dickens, Page 69). Dickens is satirizing this system because it is extremely harsh and unfair, with execution becoming the sentence for everything. He is bringing the problem to light so that it may be resolved before it contributes to civil unrest. Charles Dickens also uses satire to show the ridiculousness and selfishness of nobility. It is displayed when Monseigneur is receiving his hot chocolate: Yes. It took four men, all four a blaze with gorgeous decoration, and the chief of them unable to exist with fewer than two gold watches in his pocket, emulative of the noble and chaste fashion set by Monseigneur, to conduct the happy chocolate to Monseigneur s lips, (Dickens, Page 108). This shows that the nobles were so extravagantly ridiculous, that they required four men simply to help them prepare and drink hot chocolate, whereas any commoner could do it all themselves. It s also important to know that Edmonton still needs a captain and I personally think John Scott would be an excellent fit because he is able to lead his team to the playoffs, or close in this case. An example of this is the team he played for last season, San Jose Sharks, he played 38 games and scored three goals which is an average of a goal every 12 games. In contrast Andrew Ference scored the same amount of goals in 70 games and he was the captain so the conclusion everyone should have is that Scott would be a much better captain than Ference. ... And personally I m surprised no one photo shopped him to look like Kurt Cobain with all that flannel. Either way though to make one of the best goal scorers in the league run away like a little child is impressive and something Edmonton has to have. In fact John Scott brings a hell of a lot of potential, he can fight, he can hit and last year he proved he can score more than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Evolution And Relevance Of Immigration The Evolution of Immigration: The evolution and relevance of Immigration in the United States. Another way of indicating the importance of immigration to America is to point out that every American who ever lived, with the exception of one group, was an immigrant himself or a descendent of immigrants, (Kennedy, 2). The United States is a nation of immigrants. There are, however, many Americans who are not accepting of the fact that immigrants were the reason why this country is able to have a population, economy and democracy. To ignore immigrants, is to ignore our history and how America is the way it is now. The immigrant culture of America is relevant to not only every individual US citizen, but also every person living across seas. World War Two is one of the most important turning points regarding immigration into the U.S., Kennedy embodies the American story when he says, To know America, then, it is necessary to understand this peculiar American social revolution. It is necessary to know why over 42 million people gave up their settled lives to start anew in a strange land. (Kennedy, 3). This quote is representative of how the country began, and how the immigrants of that time had a desire to enunciate the Declaration of Independence. The outcome was successful in the U.S. in many ways: Between the time frame of 1770 to 1820 came federal and state governments, a prosperous economy, and a population that grew from 2 million to 9 million. • 32. Imperialist Education In African American Imperialism Imperialist education destroyed key aspects of African storytelling culture during colonialist attempts to replace African traditions with European customs. Before the invention of writing and even after, history was told orally. In Mali, griots were the professional historians who told the history of a tribe or important lineage. They passed on stories deeply rooted in traditions, customs, and the past. (Clark 253) In many cases, where griots did not exist, it was simply the responsibility of elders to recount their wisdoms and the tribe s history to the children (Clark 261). This tradition created a fluid account of antiquity as griots could only rely on their memories to describe information. Their stories also include cultural explanations of natural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This European interference in African historical storytelling destroyed parts of the uniquely constructed explanations that were no more wrong than the scientific explanations. In general, education destroys the truth of imaginative stories because it teaches which explanation is correct when both are equally legitimate. Part of the reason to imperialize, according to J. A. Hobson, author of Imperialism: A Study, is the ability to control the education of the colonized. To the ignorant public, education is a reason to imperialize for it is seen as generous of the mother country to enlighten primitive Africans. Once able to control the education of children, it is easier to impose ideas of racial inferiority, corrupted measures of value, and European morals. (Hobson 229) This education, however beneficial or otherwise, plausibly diminished inventive African explanations of nature, but also destroyed the need for griots. Once Europeans and eventually Africans could begin writing down their stories, the oral storytellers of the past were not needed. A Glasgow Coma Score of 8 or less also is an indication that the patient will need to be intubated soon. Once the tube is placed the ventilation may be useful in controlling the intracranial pressure as an intervention. Hyperventilation is a method used to reduce the carbon dioxide concentration in the vessels causing vasoconstriction which lessens the amount of blood circulating in the brain resulting in a decreased ICP (Zink and McQuillan, 2005). According to Zink and McQuillan, this intervention should only be utilized 24 hours after the initial injury because cerebral blood flow is often reduced at this point and constricting the vessels more may cause ischemia to occur. While using this technique it is important to monitor oxygenation to the brain tissue to assure no irreparable damage is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After the successful reverse stock split only a small percentage of stock still remained with outsiders, but was closely monitored for the next 20years to maintain the private state of firm control. It is hard to find negatives for being so private because Kohler has been so successful at it. A few possible reasons for big companies such as Kohler to have public shares is because they offer a new source of capital, a cash flow for acquisitions, liquidity for estate planning and a means to reward employees with options. Kohler could make the counter to these public offers by saying we may not have these public options, but who is going to take us over anyway... we re Kohler. Why recapitalize: In 1998, Herbert Kohler proposed to buy back all the shares from outsiders and further restrict the selling of shares to outsiders. There were many reasons for this recapitalization plan: Herbert Kohler did not like the high speculative prices that the shares were selling for. People started to think that Kohler would go public and it would increase the share prices. Therefore, they paid higher prices for the Kohler stock with the expectations that the stock price would go higher. He thought that it might entice the family members to sell their shares to outsiders. 5 Kohler preferred the company s private status. Morgan commented on how losing the weight was extremely difficult and purging himself from fast food was almost like being weaned off an addicting drug. I believe that one of the main causes for an increasingly overweight and obese American population is the fast food industry. With fast food being convenient and cheaper the average busy American turns to it as a source of nutrition more times than not. Fast food in general is high in fat and sugars with little nutritional value. Eating this daily or even 3 5 times a week can most definitely negatively affect your person. I feel I can also speak from personal experience knowing that when I eat a heavy burger and don t exercise I feel much more tired and cloudier than I would on any given day. Although they get the most of the flack, it seems to me that we can t point the blame all at the fast food industry on America s weight problems. The credit for our weight issues not only goes to the fast food industry, but the general public as well. The fast food industry encourages the public to buy their food through advertisement and even reward systems, but the general public is too naive or generally don t care enough about their well being to attempt to eat a healthier diet. Today I believe the general public is leaning more towards a healthier diet with the constant knowledge being produced daily on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
