Traveling Through The Dark Imagery
I chose the poem, traveling Through the Dark, by William Stafford. Stafford describes the speaker as
traveling at night. On speaker s way, he discovers a dead female deer on the side of the road. He stops
his car and takes a look at the deer, he touches the deer s body and finds everything except the
stomach area is cold. After a while he figures, there was an alive fawn in deer s body when he was
almost ready to push her away into the canyon. The speaker hesitated for a while and then after
thinking knowing the fact that he cannot do anything to save the fawn, he pushed the deer to prevent
accident that could cause by it.
The lines best capture the poem s theme is I thought hard for all of us my only swerving / then pushed

Pros And Cons Of Same Sex Marriage In Australia
There are many articles written about the debate of same sex marriage with many varying opinions on
whether it is a good thing or a bad thing. Everyone has their own opinion about same sex marriage.
But they don t seem to understand how many people it will effect in Australia if it s a majority No
vote. An article called Census: Same Sex Couples Still A Statistically Small Percent Of Australians .
The article states that 40% 50% of the population is gay. Which means of a population of nearly 24.5
million people roughly half is gay. So why not allow gay marriage to happen here in Australia? There
is already so many countries that have already allowed it to happen in their country in the last 20
years.
There are many examples of LGBTIQ in books, movies, TV shows and with Celebrities. But guess
what they are accepted by their fans, and their peers without a second thought. Some examples are; in
The mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare she wrote not one but two characters who are apart
of the LGBTIQ community and both characters aren t in the background but are two of the many main
characters in the series. These characters are Magnus Bane who holds a very important position
through the series being the high warlock of Brooklyn and all, and Alec Lightwood, who is very
important to the series being amazing with a bow and arrow and being a Shadowhunter. All of the fans
of the series have a favourite couple in the series and for this one it just so happens to be the

Antigone Vs Creon
The production of Antigone by Company B reviewed by Peta Tait is correct in multiple instances even
though the production has an incorrect central conflict. Company B s production is correct when Tait
explains how it portrays why Creon did not bury Polyneices body and just left it out to the animals
instead (71). The production is also correct when implying why Creon treats Antigone and Ismene
badly as if they have the dignity of animals (73). By looking at Sophocles Antigone, it portrays Creon
of having the same understanding of Polyneices, Antigone, and Ismene too (Sophocles ?). This is why
I have no issues with these parts in Company B s production. However, Tait also mentions the focus of
the production are these actions by Creon which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason for this is that it is more controversial. Creon does not receive a lot of support or is looked
at as a role model from readers when he treats Polyneices, Antigone, and Ismene like animals. Most
people would agree that it is not good to disregard a person enough to let his dead body rot with the
animals and to call women snakes and leeches (Tait 73). The controversial issue that should be the
central conflict is whether Antigone should have buried her brother even though she rebels against
authority to doing so. This conflict can result in more disagreement than Creon s treatment towards
Polyneices and the women for a few reasons. At the time Antigone was written, there was a negative
outlook on women. They were not seen as people who should have the same rights as men, much less
to act against any authority. This outlook is seen when Ismene demonstrations how women do not
disobey authority by disagreeing with Antigone s decision to bury Polyneices (Sophocles 708). Even
though most readers would agree that it was not good that women were treated less than humans when
Sophocles wrote Antigone, they can still be disagreement when Antigone went against the law. While
Tait notes that Haemon says to Creon that anyone would have done what Antigone did if they had a
relative fed to the crows, I disagree. (Tait 73). Some people may reject what Antigone did

John Keats in his poem refers to it like as if it was a person when he says thy hair soft lifted by the
winnowing wind saying that it lifts your hair and on the line before it is wrote thee sitting careless on a
granary floor I believe this also refers to a person as we aren t perfect and people are careless so he
could be referring to it as a kind of lazy person who just sits around all day looking beautiful. A few
lines further on it says and sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep this meaning that when it picks
things up it picks them up and once again referring to a person on how they pick things up.
John Keats seems to go into detail in the surroundings of Autumn when he mentions the moss`d
cottage trees and the cyder press saying this I think it means he likes that way of life or that he used to
live like that and knows what the experience is like.
In the next poem which is called autumn and is wrote by John Clare.
In this poem the writer has a love of autumn and we see this at the start of the first 3 paragraphs as
they all start with I love suggesting that he really actually loves the season autumn and from his
background where he grew up he was the son of an

Machiavelli The Prince Chapter 6 Summary
D.I.Y. Empire
In The Prince, Machiavelli discusses ways in which a ruler should obtain power and maintain power,
emphasizing the concept of gaining power through virtue versus fortune. Virtue, or virtu in the
original Italian, is defined as the masculine quality of power, and not necessarily tied to ideas of
morality as it is in the English definition.
Gaining power through virtue is the process of gaining power through one s own ability, while gaining
power through fortune is the process of gaining power through means not related to one s own ability
such as wealth or another s grace. In Chapter 6 of The Prince, Machiavelli discusses principalities
gained through virtue and their characteristics.
Rulers who wish to gain such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His enemies are those of the older order, who did well under it and are reluctant to change to a new
order. His allies are those who would do well under the new order but are, as Machiavelli puts it,
lukewarm and, therefore, aren t entirely dedicated. This is in part due to their fear of the new prince s
enemies, those who do not want a new order, and in part due to their skepticism in the ability of the
prince to impose this new order.
As such, it is very dangerous to impose a new order where one may face attack by hostile forces and
have only lukewarm defenders of the new order. It is then necessary to examine how the prince will
utilize his virtue. If he is to beg and ask others for help, he is then seen as week and cannot accomplish
his goal. The alternative is to use force , to arm themselves, and to literally force those who do not
believe in the new order to believe. After all, human nature is changeable and easily changed, but
difficult to maintain in a certain persuasion, after which force is necessary to maintain it. And once
created through great difficulty, it is then easy to maintain, as under the prince s rule, the need for
force will lessen, since those who would rebel are eliminated and the ruler gains reputation and respect
from his subjects.
The examples of such principalities and rulers Machiavellie provides are of Moses, Cyrus, Romulus
and Theseus. In the first example of Moses, Machiavelli admits that the lines are a bit

6. Findings and Discussion (1320)
A total of 24 interviews were conducted to help determine whether it is necessary for film adaptations
to be faithful to their original texts, if they want to succeed in today s cinema industry.Having carried
out the interviews, the findings and discussion have been divided into four sections:
Differences between the Original and the Adaptation
Audience Response to Film Adaptation
Book versus. Film
Determining the success of a Film Adaptation
Please refer to the 8. Appendices for Interview Questions (Appendix A.1) and Completed Comparative
Framework (Appendix A.2).

Granted that the Spielberg, may have chosen to create the film based on The BFG by Roald Dahl, the
way he perceived it and the elements he sought to take away from the original story differs from what
someone else perceived , and not everyone would respond to it positively.
3. Book versus. Film
It was discovered that the amount of people who had favoured the film over the book and vice versa
(Figure 3.1) were the same: 50% (12 respondents each). Interestingly, the top reasons behind the
interviewees preference over the film or book corre links with their preferences for imagination or
reality respectively (Figure 3.2.)
Contradicting this notion is Thomas Leitch s eighth fallacy of Contemporary Adaptation Theory
(2003), where the imagination of the reader or viewer is summoned through different storytelling
devices, at times when they overlap one another, by either the film or the book. Differences between
the use of storytelling devices are more easily determined between projects utilising the same medium,
be it film to film, or book to book. And as The BFG, both the film and the book, are of the fantasy
genre, the film team may have preferred the film as it was easier for them to get and to

A Comparison Of George Orwells And Dorian s Reality
Comparison of Winston s and Dorian s Reality Everyday people wake up in their own homes and act
themselves and do what they need to do to get ready for the day, and people put on their social masks
as they enter into everyday society. In the novel 1984, written by George Orwell, the overall idea of
the book revolves around the fact that everyone portrays a front and never actually displays who they
really are for fear of death; moreover, in the novel Picture of Dorian Gray, shares similar
characteristics on how people portray a face different from what they show in public. Continually, the

The curves of your lips rewrite history. (Wilde 54). The emphasis on how the person who rewrites
history is the one who is described as elegant and said to me made of ivory and gold. This portrays an
out and out in how the rich and powerful, or those who are made of ivory and gold are able to rewrite
history. Through this ability to control the past, Big Brother is able to command how Winson and
others act socially like the restriction on facial expression and putting laws in place to even control
how people think. They are able to do this because of how they have painted the past and how it
shows them as a powerful organization that cannot be challenged, and just as in The Picture of Dorian
Gray they have no choice but to follow directions and put on their social masks. Continually, the
adoption of constant social masks that are worn by those in the novel 1984 and the lack of identity that
they all face can be accounted from the propaganda that is always present in daily life. Moreover, the
propaganda that is being produced is just factually wrong from what we know in the real world. As

structured interview for my client. A semi structured interview allows me to skip over prepared
questions that doesn t have great significance in my assessment. On the other hand, I will still have the
benefit of sequence of questioning deciding if I would like to ask follow up question to my Client.

Summary Of The Revenge Of Autobiographical Rap By Kendrick...
An autobiography is a history of a person s life written or told by that person. When most of us think
of an autobiography we think about the stories of political figures or well known celebrities. We are
interested in the events that shaped their lives and can even be inspired by the way they handled
themselves or how they achieved their goals. There are many examples of this through music and the
hip hop genre is no exception. The article, The Revenge of Autobiographical Rap , points out that
there are many albums that do just that. Jason Parham sites such albums as Kendrick Lamar s good
kid, m.A.A.d. city, Biggie s Ready to Die and Nas s Illmatic. According to Parham, these albums are
proof that staying true to who you are and where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I listen to this music I feel as though the artist is speaking to me personally and telling me their
story. When you listening to them you hear their tone (positive or negative) and it impacts how the
story is interpreted. I do not feel the same way if I were reading a story. After listening to the albums
we discussed earlier I can appreciate the inspirational message each one conveys. My personal
favorite of the three artists is Kendrick Lamar. I find him to be a more relatable artist and I enjoy his
music. In good kid, m.A.A.d. city, he talks about how his parents were always telling him what to do
and who to hang out with. In the end, even after making mistakes, his parents were always there for
him and they were proud of the man he has become. My parents are similar to his. They have opinions
about everything I do. And, up to now I have not done everything the way they would have liked. I
have made my own mistakes. But, my parents have taught me to be a good person and I know that
they will always be there for me. Kendrick Lamar s album depicting his life experiences is inspiring to
me. I can work hard to make something of myself and I will have people around me that will support
me while I am doing just that. If artists like Kendrick Lamar can inspire me, I believe they can inspire
others that may be going down a worse path in life than I am. As a generation we must

PROR compaction scheme for larger circuits and longer vectors with deterministic ATPG Suresh k
Devanathan Michael L Bushnell Abstract Reverse order restoration ROR techniques have found great
use in sequential automatic test pattern generation ATPG, esp. spectral and perturbation based ATPG.
This paper deals with improving ROR for that purpose. We introduce parallel fault Multipass 2 level
polynomial reverse order restoration PROR algorithms with constant complexity of the form H(n)G(n)
+ c where H(n) is the number of the vectors to be released this iteration and G(n) is the attenuation
factor. In PROR H(n) = nk and G(n) here is 1−H(n)/no vectors with c about 1 to 64, where n is the
number of iterations, the fault has been hanging around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We introduce PROR, a new variant of ROR type compactors. They are noticeably very fast, and do
have a lower quality trade off with vector length. In general, in this paper, we also present tricks that
we used to tweak our tool. In the end, we present the results. II. ROR Out of the compaction
algorithms, the most useful ones are RORs because unlike omission based sequential compactors, they
take less time and unlike some schemes, they do not use a lot of memory space. The algorithm for a
typical ROR is as follows. Drop all vectors Pick fault with highest detection time Restore vectors from
that time instant If a fault is detected, stop, else keep restoring vectors Move on to the fault of the next
highest detection time Repeat the process until necessary
Differentalgorithmsplayonthisscheme.AnLROR,forexample, restores only one vector at a time and a
radix reverse order restoration RROR scheme restores an exponential number of vectors each instant.
For example, with radix 2, the scheme would restore 1,2,4,8 vectors, etc. RRORs although fast, are
over ambitious, whereas LROR are too slow. The invention of PROR exists to solve these problems.
Unlike fault simulators, which are exact, or have to be consistent with each other, each compactor has
its own flavor. Compaction algorithms are inexact. The only exact thing about them is that their results
have to be verifiable by a fault simulator and that they, in general, have to produce smaller

Persistent Fatigue Lab Report
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background Information
It was only after I found myself experiencing symptoms of persistent fatigue did I decide to go see a
doctor. Having provided details about my fatigue, hair loss, dizziness and loss of focus, the doctor
decided to order a blood test to determine the cause of these symptoms. After performing a complete
blood count test (CBC), which is often used to measure the number of blood cells in a sample of blood
(including red blood cells and hemoglobin, the iron containing molecule in red blood cells that carries
oxygen), results were reviewed and I was diagnosed with anemia, which was caused by an iron
deficiency. This means that my stores of iron were too low to support red blood cell production.

Hilton ITT Case Study Essay
1. Why might Bollenbach have opened his bidding for ITT at $55 per share? What was his likely
strategy?
The $55 value is on the lower range of the analyst eztimates, with a best guess estimate of $67.94.
Since the value of the stock had been below $45 for 4 months, the offer of 55 dollars represented a
29% premium to investors. Bollenbach knew that management would be resistant of any attempt to be
acquired, regardless of price, because of failed previous attempts to negotiate a friendly merger at year
end 1996. The 55 dollar benchmark created an expectation for ITT management to achieve that level,
or higher and the premium is enough to demonstrate to investors it is a real offer. Their support will be

Bollenbach knew that the next steps would be critical or the deal to go through. As such it was
necessary to first research the investors and arbiters to have better negotiation tactics when the time
comes. The resistant board of directors had not changed in the mean time and would likely resist any
offer, including the unlikely event of another contender entering bidding. If the price of the stock fell
below the $55 range, or the Board of Directors changed Bollenback would likely aggressively
negotiate with shareholders to close the deal as quickly as possible.
3. ITT s value has changed a lot over the recent events. Prior to any offer when ITT s stock was
trading at 43 dollars, the stand alone value of its equity was 16.4 billion dollars. With the 55 dollar
offer to ITT, the company s value went up to approximately 21 billion. After the offer, the stock was
trading at $63.50, which gave the total equity a value of 24.2 billion dollars. With the proposed
trivesture proposal, the company would lose synergistic value as three separate companies, compared
to one large company. Examples of these include a number of overhead costs which gain economies of
scale. In addition, ITT likely has synergistic revenues coming from the fact that it operates all three
business segments. Analyst estimates indicate that the present value of the synergies whichh ITT

Conversion Of A Lawn Mower Essay
Conversion of a lawn mower to generator.
INTRODUCTION:
The lawn mower used had a 3.5 Horse power Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke gas engine. That particular
model motor has a safety shut off lever on the lawn mower handle which has a cable attached to the
motor, and the attached cable must be activated to disengage the motor shut off break and to allow
spark to reach the spark plug. What was decided was to cut the cable off and deactivate the motor shut
off feature. If the motor has this feature, the cable will have to be observed and also the levers on the
motor to figure out a way to deactivate or preserve the feature. In both cases the motor will not start
unless something is done about the cable and levers.
A small hole was discovered in one of the lever plates on the side of the engine, the cable was then
pulled, and a small nail was then inserted into the lever to keep the mechanism from retracting and
shutting off the motor. As stated earlier, it will take a bit of time to figure out how the motor shut off
mechanism works (if there is one installed on the motor).
PROCEDURE:
The first step is to remove the motor from the lawn mower base. Typically, there are 3 or 4 bolts
holding the motor to the base, but before they can be removed, the mower blade and the shaft coupler
that holds the blade on the motor shaft will need to be removed. Getting the blade and the coupling off
is slightly difficult, but removing the blade is not nearly as difficult, however still requires a

The Recent Onset Of Regional Lymphadenopathy
Discussion
When evaluating the recent onset of regional lymphadenopathy in a teenager, there are various
etiologies that should be explored. Lymphadenopathy is often a benign entity that is self limiting but
can also be the presenting sign of a more serious illness. Our patient had several signs and symptoms
that were concerning for both a malignant etiology as well as an infectious cause for his acute, painful
lymphadenopathy. Due to the commonality and potentially serious causes of lymphadenopathy, it is
important for physicians to be able properly differentiate the more commonly benign causes from the
potentially serious illnesses.
When evaluating any patient with lymphadenitis a detailed history is paramount to finding the cause
of the lymphadenitis, which can help guide treatment. Our patient has several elements in his history
that point us to an infectious cause of his lymphadenopathy: exposure to pets, potential sexual activity,
and skin flora exposure to an open wound. Our patient plays roughly with his kitten who scratches
him on his legs. Bartonella henselae is a gram negative bacterium that can cause cat scratch disease,
which is characterized by tender regional unilateral lymphadenopathy. In this disease, inguinal
lymphadenopathy is present 18% of the time, which warrants its consideration in our differential
diagnoisis1. Given his age, sexually transmitted infection or infectious mononucleosis should always
be contemplated as a cause of his

Execut Muscle Longness
During exercise, the muscles work tirelessly in order for the body to be able to work out. After
physical activity, the body usually has acute muscle soreness and delayed onset muscle soreness.
During acute muscle soreness, pain is felt immediately after exercise. For example, if one works out
their arms and back for an hour, they would feel a pain right after they leave the gym. Although it

which causes the pain in the muscles to disappear.
On the other hand, delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), has a longer lasting effect on the muscles.

Narrative Essay On A Trip To Honduras
Traveling can be enjoyable and frightening at the same time. Being from Honduras, my family would
travel back in forth from the U.S. to Honduras every summer. Being able to experience living in two
different cultures was a good experience and allowed for a more understanding approach of different
societies and how the identity of the people living in those Society s is unique.
My favorite part of traveling was when it was time to go to the airport and getting onto the airplane.
For the most part I enjoyed the plane the most because as a kid I would always imagine was if it were
a rise. On the summer trip of June of two thousand ten stood out from the rest due to the almost fatal
accident that occurred mid flight. Usually, the flights were quite ... Show more content on

At first, the flight was normal and nothing out of the ordinary. Regularly, I would stare through the
window as I saw the amazing views. The scariest thing about being on a plane was when you would
look down and see how far up you are.
As the long flight continued everything was good and the food was delicious. Everything was normal
until there was weird noises that seemed to be coming from the aircraft. This understandably
frightened a lot of passengers and myself due to the knowledge of risks that are taken when flying.
You could hear the panic in the area as any passengers were calling the attendants, so they way ask
them questions on what was going on. Sadly, I could hear in the tone of the attendant s voices that
they were as clueless as we were. Eventually we were given some news on the situation.
As word came from the pilots that there was an issue with one of the plane engines and that we should
try and prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Being a child, I began to cry because of the fear
surrounded me from the passengers and my family. However, what amazed me was how professional
the flight attendants were throughout the whole flight. They showed on there actions that they were
fearless and capable of trying to protect as much as they

Essay Hedda Gabler
TITLE : People may argue that George, Eilert, and Judge Brack are responsible for Hedda s death, but
in reality it is the fault of Hedda s society.
I ve chosen this statement for several reasons. Ibsen s character, Hedda Gabler, represents the women
of the eighteenth and nineteenth century. Hedda stands the issues of self worth and the deflated value
that each woman places upon her own importance as a result of male dominance.
We can see this in the play, as we read we learn more about the character of Hedda Gabler. She is the
daughter of a General who expected a life if glamour and wealth and rebels against the boredom of a
dull, narrow existence by vindictively scheming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hedda is a powerful woman, who on the surface appeared to be confined by a dress, imprisoned in
man s house, and smothered by a male dominated society. Hedda was a calculating bitch who dared
(quite shrewdly) to cross over her set in stone boundaries , manipulate others, and stand back and
watch others lives be destroyed as a result. But when she is backed into a corner by the new creative
couple (George and Thea) and Judge Brack, she takes the final power into her own hand. The irony is
that the power is her late father s pistol.
In the play, we can also sense how woman felt during the times of patriarchy. Hedda is an
extraordinary and very complex character but at the same time is fairly simple to understand. Her evil
doings are somewhat erased from our minds as we justify them, we feel pity towards Hedda because
of the pitiful life she is trapped in, the distorted views on life that Hedda possesses come to a climax
toward the end and we understand a bit more about her character. However, just as we begin to
understand her actions and feel pity towards her instead of hate we sadly discover her death at the end.
How tragic is her death when it was the ultimate control of a destiny that she so strongly desired?
The issues of greed have a stronghold in myriad literary pieces, effectively demonstrating the value
humanity places upon materialistic commodities. Money is , indeed,

The Preparation Of Grignard Reagents
The preparation of Grignard reagents typically involves the reaction of an alkyl halide or aryl halide
with magnesium metal in an anhydrous ethereal solvent. This reaction results in the formation of a
carbon magnesium complex within an alkyl magnesium halide or aryl magnesium halide. Grignard
reagents are considered to be strong nucleophiles and strong bases that have the ability to react with
acidic proton sources and carbonyl functional groups. The preparation of Grignard reagents must be
conducted in aprotic solvents to minimize interactions with strong proton sources that may result in
undesired products. Furthermore, the solvent chosen for the reaction must dissolve everything in
solution. Commonly used solvents in Grignard reactions are diethyl ether and tetrahydrofuran (THF).
They are preferred over hexane solvents due to the presence of an oxygen atom which contains a lone
electron pair that attracts the partially positive magnesium metal, resulting in increased stability. As
mentioned previously, Grignard reagents are strong nucleophiles. Thus, there is a possibility that they
may react with other molecules in side reactions. One such side reaction involves the Grignard reagent
reacting with molecular oxygen (O2) to form a peroxide molecule. In another side reaction, the
Grignard reagent may react with carbon dioxide (CO2) to form a carboxylate molecule. These side
reactions can pose a problem since molecular oxygen and carbon dioxide are in excess under normal

Religious Symbolism In Waiting For Godot
In Waiting for Godot, Samuel Beckett produces a truly cryptic work. On first analyzing the play, one
is not sure of what, if anything, happens or of the title character s significance. In attempting to
unravel the themes of the play, interpreters have extracted a wide variety symbolism from the Godot s
name. Some, taking an obvious hint, have proposed that Godot represents God and that the play is
centered on religious symbolism. Others have taken the name as deriving from the French word for a
boot, godillot. Still, others have suggested a connection between Godot and Godeau, a character who
never appears in Honore de Balzac s Mercadet; Ou, le faiseur. Through all these efforts, there is still
no definitive answer as to whom or what Godot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the play contains obvious ambiguities into the word s meaning, they are all for show. There is
no real meaning. The interpretation of Godot s religious significance, while this significance is clearly
alluded to, leads to interpreter into a long, blind alley of meaninglessness. Just as Estragon s boots
contain nothing inside them, there is no central meaning to the word Godot. Furthermore, this
meaninglessness can be expanded to all of Beckett s language; full of hints of a greater significance,
language hides the triviality of all things described. Only after this revelation can one finally get
towards the central meaning of Beckett s play; there is no meaning. His characters engage in
ridiculous language to pass the time and to give [them] the impression [they] exist (44B). Illusions of
significance continue throughout the play, but, in truth, the play comes from nothing and ultimately
ends in nothing. Beckett exposes the pitfalls of a language that attempts to create meaning when none
exists. Waiting for Godot is not a commentary on religion or really anything for that matter. Its
meaning comes in its meaninglessness. That is the play s greater

Whistling Vivaldi Chapter Summary
Growing up many of us learns about racism, probably from reading To Kill a Mocking Bird, or other
such works. One thing we don t learn about is stereotype threat. This is an issue Claude Steele delves
into in depth in his book Whistling Vivaldi. Claude Steele himself, being black, grew up with
segregation and racism. This is something that affected his entire life. When he gets offered a job at
the University of Washington he develops a special interest in stereotype threat when he sees the
minority students underperforming despite have equal or higher SAT scores upon entering the college.
This is when he really develops his interest in stereotype threat and with fellow colleagues develops a
group of experiments to explore more about this topic. In the first three chapters of this book Steele
sets the stage for the coming experiments, and delves into the process of showing us how stereotype

white throat are overshadowed by its most recognizable trait: a large colorful beak. The bright orange
beak is about 19 cm (8 in.) long one third of the bird s total length. But despite its substantial size, the
beak weighs less than you may think. Toco toucans also use their beaks to pluck and peel fruit, their
main source of food. In addition, the beak houses a flat tongue of the same length, which helps the
toucan catch insects, frogs, and reptiles. Toco toucans also occasionally eat the eggs of other birds.
Although they spend a lot of time in trees, they are not very good at flying. Toucans mainly travel

Is pleasing the customers, and telling them what they might want to hear, more important than being
honest with them? When clients ask the company for reports, their main interest should be to get a

Once you know that, then you can give those values a voice and feel comfortable sharing them with

My Writing Process Analysis

many papers such as literary analysis, rhetorical device analysis, and my least favorite poetry analysis.
Each paper I wrote during high school felt the same as the last one simply because I never felt as

academically efficient. While writing in high school, I usually viewed a paper as a whole without

The case that Richard N. Current describes in The Dartmouth College Case, is the four year prolonged

spelled out the purpose of the school, set up the structure to govern it, and gave land to the college (

of New Hampshire had gone beyond their rightful powers (Current 25). Firstly, the legislature took
away the vested rights reserved in the charter for the trustees; something only the courts were legally

important to the safety of the public, it does not seem important enough to use taxpayers money in
order to fund it.
Yes, many people have to take this program in order to be qualified for a job, event or special

Analysis Of Canzon Septimi A 8
Many ensembles across the world dedicate time to learning and performing early renaissance music.
When practicing music not from this era, it is easy to perform it incorrectly and not give the work the
justice it deserves. Ensembles that do not take careful time and consideration to study the style of
early music and the techniques they must use when performing these pieces, ultimately fail when
attempting to perform early music. When performing early music, such as Canzon Septimi Toni a 8,
musicians must study the styles and techniques musicians in that time period implemented, reciprocate
the tone, timbre and articulations used in the renaissance era for this specific work, transpose the piece
to their instrument, and know the differences between early and modern instrumentation needed to
perform the piece. Giovanni Gabrieli, the man who composed Canzon Septimi Toni a 8, was a well
known Renaissance composer born in 1556. Not only that, but he was an organist and teacher who
learned everything he knew from his uncle, Andrea Gabrieli, whom he has to thank for his musical
upbringing. Gabrieli himself was highly regarded and praised for his contributions to instrumental
music for church use as well as choral and instrumental motets. Gabrieli also made use of the San
Marco church layout; the two separate choir lofts in the church allowed him to create salient spatial
effects, which in turn heavily influenced his style of music. Unfortunately, his health began to suffer

The increased pricing on these items helped to offset the decline of other product lines such as Big G
ready to eat cereals and the overall cereal category. The Bakeries and Foodservice segment s net sales
increased 6% compared the sectors net sales in 2010. This includes a 3% growth in sales to
foodservice distributors and 11% increase in sales to convenience stores customers. The reason for the
increase was due to net price realization and prices indexed to commodity markets. The International
segment s net sales increased 7% compared the sectors net sales in 2010. The increased sales in this
sector were a result of a 5% growth in the European market, driven by increased sales in Häagen Dazs
and Nature Valley in the United Kingdom, and Old El Paso in France and Switzerland. There was also
an increase in the Asian/Pacific region with a 14% growth in sales driven by sales of Häagen Dazs and
Wanchai Ferry brands in China. Although 45% of Haagen Dazs is sold in the US GSI does not control
the product in the US. Nestle company retains rites to operate and sale in the United States, therefore
GSI only profits from foreign sales of Haagen Dazs. Looking towards 2012 GSI plans to continue to
expand upon their health and nutrition products hoping to boost sales as the US consumer continues to
focus on issues like childhood obesity and diabetes. Products to be released in FY12 include Fiber one

Rise Of The Taliban
The Taliban is one of the most notorious militant Sunni Islamic political groups in the world. The
majority of people have heard the name Taliban before. It is a name that carries hate, confusion, and
love depending on the person. However, many don t understand what the Taliban is and how it came
about. Some just consider them a radical terrorist group and some see them as a historic change in
government. This paper is going to explain: who the Taliban are, why they do what they do, and how
they came about.
The Taliban seized control of Afghanistan in the mid 1990 s (Hopkins). Their primary goal was to
make Afghanistan and Pakistan into an Islamic State, more specifically a Pashtun state. The Talibans

Since, the book is based on first hand experience and a person s point of view who lived through it,
the knowledge is very accurate. Assef is a fictional charecter who represents the ideas and people in
the Taliban. Assef is the perfect example of a Taliban member: a person taught in a madrasas, a
fundamental Pashtun, and has a lot of hatred toward Hazaras. Kite Runner excellently described an
insider s view on the Taliban as well. As stated the people were excited for rapid change and the
fleeing of the Soviet Union. The Taliban, to the people were considered an important change in
government, however led to murder in the street and constant gunfire and chaos. If one is looking for a

Analysis Of Jim Mccormick s Short Story Breaking Through...
The two stories Breaking through Uncertainty and Neighbours are both stories about how big the
benefits are when risks have been taken. The first short story is about how a skydiver must overcome
his own uncertainty, to save himself from certain death. While the other story is still dramatic, just in a
different tone; it s about a young woman, who must decide whether or not a friendship is worth
standing up for something that s right. The protagonists in both stories, have to take risks, and they re
both rewarded for taking those risks; one with his life, and the other with a stronger friendship. Even
though the skydiver is risking his life, the protagonist in Neighbours had more gut to do what she had
to do, where is the skydiver just let second nature take over. Above all, the protagonists both did
experience serious risk taking moments, and they both benefited for the greater good.
Breaking Through Uncertainty by Jim McCormick is about how a skydiver is plummeting to his
death, and he has got to figure out how to save himself. All the while the skydiver must deal with his
self doubt. In paragraph eight, we see actually how much danger the skydiver is in I looked up to
assess my canopy and saw something I don t often see; the horizon clearly visible ABOVE the trailing
edge of my canopy. The skydiver obviously now knows what the stakes are if he messes up, which
make his self doubt start to kick in. He starts to worry he s not going to do it, the only thing

This study focuses on the structure, conduct, and performance of Magnolia pictures and its associates.
We begin by examining three films that were produced by Magnolia Pictures and released in day and

of the three films we will be examining, followed by Melancholia (2011) and Whitey: United States of
America V. James J. Bulger (2014). With each film we will look at aspects of conduct release format
strategies, and performance how did the film fare on the market. Evidence from Bubble, Melancholia,
and Whitey will be used to look at how the structure of the trio and Cuban allow for the conduct and
performance. For each film we will explore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2005 there was a 60% increase in the number of households that had an HGTV, and expected to rise
by another 46% in 2006, making the technology highly available to the American people. Another
factor that boosted the perceived value of the film was Soderbergh himself. He is a well known
director who has directed all of the Ocean s Eleven movies, Traffic , in addition to many other films
and TV shows. While the cast of Bubble were completely unknown, ametures that were forced to
work without a script, that choice allowed the film to feel true to life. Bubble was experimental in its
released format, yet its opening weekend made just under half of the overall profit with $70,664 (US).
The gross income of Bubble was charted at $145,382 (USA) as of February of 2005. These numbers,
while showing some interest in the spectacle that began day and date releases, are still significantly
lower than that top box office film of 06. That year, the top hit was Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead
Man s Chest which grossed $423,315,812 (USA), $135,634,554 (32%) was from opening weekend
alone. Comparatively Bubble made 0.03% of the amount that Dead Man s

The Lottery Book Comparison
The Lottery by Shirley Jackson is a short fictional story that was published in 1948 and was in the
magazine The New Yorker. The setting of the story is a small nice little village with green grass and
flowers everywhere. The village was a farming village that mostly supported agriculture. The main
characters are Joe Summers, Mr. Graves, and the Hutchison family. The conflict of the story was man
versus tradition of the lottery. The lottery had little slips of paper that Mr. Summers and Mr. Graves
made and one that had a black dot on it. The winner is the person with the black dot. The winner has
his family draw again to see who is the real winner . When drawing, the heads of the households get to
draw for the family and can t look at the slips until everyone is done drawing. Most villages are giving
it up. The oldest man in village says, lottery in June, corn be heavy soon , as that after the lottery is
done crops grow better. When it was done Hutchinson got the lucky card and his wife Tessie was
making a big deal about it, it wasn t fair she said and, they should redo the lottery, she thought. Bill
Hutchison tells Tessie to shut up and Mr. Graves starts setting up for the last round. Graves took the

The first major similarity is when the movie producers stuck to the main point of the story about the
sacrifice. The point of the lottery was the sacrifice for crops. This similarity make the movie more like
the story. Another similarity , the people were the same and the way the lottery was done was the
same. The movie producers used the same people and the black box and stool. The third similarity is
that the dialogue was mostly the same. Tessie after they won the lottery she went out and started
protesting about that it wasn t fair. Also, old man Warner thought people giving up the lottery are
crazy. To sum up, the similarities made the movie more like

the death of a close family member, the fears, doubt, and negative thoughts and feelings resurfaced.
Grief called into question the significance of his own life s work and he became fearful about the
direction and fate of his current project. This time, by God s grace, Koro had a safety net. He had
strengthened his relationships with his family and church, and they would not let him hit rock bottom

Plea Bargaining Essay
The art of plea bargaining is a tactic of the judicial system that keeps money and resources in mind
when making these decisions. Plea deals help everyone involved. I think that the practice of plea
bargaining should continue in this country for a variety of reasons. The plea bargain, in which the
defense attorney and the prosecutor reach an agreement: The defendant agrees to plead guilty in
exchange for a reduction of charges or a lighter sentence. As a result of this exchange, the prosecutor
gains a quick, sure conviction; the offender receives a shorter sentence: and the defense attorney can
move on to the next case. Thus, the cooperation underlying the exchange promotes the goals of each
participant. (Cole Smith. 2010. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Should everyone be allowed a plea deal? This is a tricky question in my book. As stated in the
questions about this topic, it states that plea deals are not constitutional, there fore it can be used at the
prosecutors discretion. Should certain crime qualify and some not? I say, yes. If a person has
committed a heinous crime and the prosecutor can prove without a shadow of a doubt the quilt of a
defendant, then I say no plea deal. The other downfall of a plea deals is when the court of public
opinion is calling for harsher sentencing than the prosecutor is offering. The public will demand
justice for a crime committed, and in my opinion the prosecutor has a duty to render fair justice for the
crime committed. Another factor in plea deals is keeping up the bargain. A defendant might have to do
something to render the deal valid, for example, a defendant might have to testify against someone
else, as in the case of Ricketts v. Adamson (1987). The ethics involved in making a deal can be tricky.
How far should a prosecutor go to get a guilty plea? Playing by the rules is critical, when it comes to
keeping our judicial system legitimate. If we go outside the rule to get a guilty plea, then we don t
stand up to the fairness test. Altogether, I agree that plea deals are a net good to the system. If plea
deals were not on the table before or during a trial, I think that our judicial system would be

Sunset Boulevard And Singing In The Rain
Sunset Boulevard (1950) and Singing in the Rain (1952) both use the transitions from silent to sound
movies to help drive the narrative. Director Billy Wilder s film, Sunset Boulevard and Gene Kelly and
Stanley Donen s Singing in the Rain utilize camera movements and sound to advance the plot.
Sunset Boulevard follows an unsuccessful screenwriter, Joe Gillis (William Holden), whom a past
movie star, Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson), hires to help her return to the big screen. Police find
the body of Joe Gillis in a swimming pool. In a flashback, Joe explains events that happen prior to his
death. Joe tries selling a script to Paramount Studios to pay for his car but they refuse his script. When
a group of men try to repossess Joes car, Joe escapes by hiding the car in a deserted mansion. Norma
hires Joe to rewrite a script that she wants to star in and accepts his situation by moving into the
mansion. Joe learns that Norma use to be a silent film star who believes that she s still famous. Norma
s butler, Max Von Mayerling (Erich von Stroheim), explains that he writes Norma fan letters and that
Norma has made suicide attempts. Later, Joe wants to leave the mansion but returns since Norma cuts
her wrists. At nights, Joe sneaks out to work on a script with Betty Schaefer (Nancy Olson) and the
two fall in love. Joe informs Norma that no one remembers her and that there will be no comeback

There are distinctions within the broad line of issues regarding both indemnity and non indemnity
insurance. Using life insurance as an example of non indemnity insurance would also consider other
value insurance such as personal accident and critical illness.
In non indemnity the list of issues include group insurance, key employee insurance or issues of
natural affection, eg, a grandmother will not be able to obtain insurance on the life of her grandson.
Equally if insurable interest is removed, this may open up wager type policies or taking out insurance
on a stranger or more bizarrely celebrities. In indemnity insurance, if insurable interest is removed,
there may be odds with statute such as Marine Insurance and Life Assurance Acts.
Within the debate is the argument whether insurable interest is required at all. Behind this debate is the
definition of insurance which separates insurance contracts from those of gaming and the need to
define due to the tax requirements being different for each. From the case Prudential Insurance V
IRC[13], Mr Justice Channell stated his definition of insurance:
The remaining essential is... that the insurance must be against something. A contract which would
otherwise be a mere wager may become an insurance by reason of the assured having an interest in the
subject matter that is to say, the uncertain event which is necessary to make the contract amount to an
insurance must be an event which is prima facie adverse

  • 2. Traveling Through The Dark Imagery I chose the poem, traveling Through the Dark, by William Stafford. Stafford describes the speaker as traveling at night. On speaker s way, he discovers a dead female deer on the side of the road. He stops his car and takes a look at the deer, he touches the deer s body and finds everything except the stomach area is cold. After a while he figures, there was an alive fawn in deer s body when he was almost ready to push her away into the canyon. The speaker hesitated for a while and then after thinking knowing the fact that he cannot do anything to save the fawn, he pushed the deer to prevent accident that could cause by it. • 3. Pros And Cons Of Same Sex Marriage In Australia There are many articles written about the debate of same sex marriage with many varying opinions on whether it is a good thing or a bad thing. Everyone has their own opinion about same sex marriage. But they don t seem to understand how many people it will effect in Australia if it s a majority No vote. An article called Census: Same Sex Couples Still A Statistically Small Percent Of Australians . The article states that 40% 50% of the population is gay. Which means of a population of nearly 24.5 million people roughly half is gay. So why not allow gay marriage to happen here in Australia? There is already so many countries that have already allowed it to happen in their country in the last 20 years. There are many examples of LGBTIQ in books, movies, TV shows and with Celebrities. But guess what they are accepted by their fans, and their peers without a second thought. Some examples are; in The mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare she wrote not one but two characters who are apart of the LGBTIQ community and both characters aren t in the background but are two of the many main characters in the series. These characters are Magnus Bane who holds a very important position through the series being the high warlock of Brooklyn and all, and Alec Lightwood, who is very important to the series being amazing with a bow and arrow and being a Shadowhunter. • 4. Antigone Vs Creon The production of Antigone by Company B reviewed by Peta Tait is correct in multiple instances even though the production has an incorrect central conflict. Company B s production is correct when Tait explains how it portrays why Creon did not bury Polyneices body and just left it out to the animals instead (71). The production is also correct when implying why Creon treats Antigone and Ismene badly as if they have the dignity of animals (73). By looking at Sophocles Antigone, it portrays Creon of having the same understanding of Polyneices, Antigone, and Ismene too (Sophocles ?). This is why I have no issues with these parts in Company B s production. However, Tait also mentions the focus of the production are these actions by Creon which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason for this is that it is more controversial. Creon does not receive a lot of support or is looked at as a role model from readers when he treats Polyneices, Antigone, and Ismene like animals. Most people would agree that it is not good to disregard a person enough to let his dead body rot with the animals and to call women snakes and leeches (Tait 73). The controversial issue that should be the central conflict is whether Antigone should have buried her brother even though she rebels against authority to doing so. This conflict can result in more disagreement than Creon s treatment towards Polyneices and the women for a few reasons. At the time Antigone was written, there was a negative outlook on women. They were not seen as people who should have the same rights as men, much less to act against any authority. This outlook is seen when Ismene demonstrations how women do not disobey authority by disagreeing with Antigone s decision to bury Polyneices (Sophocles 708). Even though most readers would agree that it was not good that women were treated less than humans when Sophocles wrote Antigone, they can still be disagreement when Antigone went against the law. While Tait notes that Haemon says to Creon that anyone would have done what Antigone did if they had a relative fed to the crows, I disagree. (Tait 73). Some people may reject what Antigone did ... John Keats in his poem refers to it like as if it was a person when he says thy hair soft lifted by the winnowing wind saying that it lifts your hair and on the line before it is wrote thee sitting careless on a granary floor I believe this also refers to a person as we aren t perfect and people are careless so he could be referring to it as a kind of lazy person who just sits around all day looking beautiful. A few lines further on it says and sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep this meaning that when it picks things up it picks them up and once again referring to a person on how they pick things up. John Keats seems to go into detail in the surroundings of Autumn when he mentions the moss`d cottage trees and the cyder press saying this I think it means he likes that way of life or that he used to live like that and knows what the experience is like. • 6. Machiavelli The Prince Chapter 6 Summary D.I.Y. Empire In The Prince, Machiavelli discusses ways in which a ruler should obtain power and maintain power, emphasizing the concept of gaining power through virtue versus fortune. Virtue, or virtu in the original Italian, is defined as the masculine quality of power, and not necessarily tied to ideas of morality as it is in the English definition. Gaining power through virtue is the process of gaining power through one s own ability, while gaining power through fortune is the process of gaining power through means not related to one s own ability such as wealth or another s grace. In Chapter 6 of The Prince, Machiavelli discusses principalities gained through virtue and their characteristics. Rulers who wish to gain such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His enemies are those of the older order, who did well under it and are reluctant to change to a new order. His allies are those who would do well under the new order but are, as Machiavelli puts it, lukewarm and, therefore, aren t entirely dedicated. This is in part due to their fear of the new prince s enemies, those who do not want a new order, and in part due to their skepticism in the ability of the prince to impose this new order. As such, it is very dangerous to impose a new order where one may face attack by hostile forces and have only lukewarm defenders of the new order. It is then necessary to examine how the prince will utilize his virtue. If he is to beg and ask others for help, he is then seen as week and cannot accomplish his goal. The alternative is to use force , to arm themselves, and to literally force those who do not believe in the new order to believe. After all, human nature is changeable and easily changed, but difficult to maintain in a certain persuasion, after which force is necessary to maintain it. And once created through great difficulty, it is then easy to maintain, as under the prince s rule, the need for force will lessen, since those who would rebel are eliminated and the ruler gains reputation and respect from his subjects. The examples of such principalities and rulers Machiavellie provides are of Moses, Cyrus, Romulus and Theseus. In the first example of Moses, Machiavelli admits that the lines are a bit ... Book versus. Film It was discovered that the amount of people who had favoured the film over the book and vice versa (Figure 3.1) were the same: 50% (12 respondents each). Interestingly, the top reasons behind the interviewees preference over the film or book corre links with their preferences for imagination or reality respectively (Figure 3.2.) Contradicting this notion is Thomas Leitch s eighth fallacy of Contemporary Adaptation Theory (2003), where the imagination of the reader or viewer is summoned through different storytelling devices, at times when they overlap one another, by either the film or the book. Differences between the use of storytelling devices are more easily determined between projects utilising the same medium, be it film to film, or book to book. Continually, the adoption of constant social masks that are worn by those in the novel 1984 and the lack of identity that they all face can be accounted from the propaganda that is always present in daily life. There are many examples of this through music and the hip hop genre is no exception. The article, The Revenge of Autobiographical Rap , points out that there are many albums that do just that. After listening to the albums we discussed earlier I can appreciate the inspirational message each one conveys. My personal favorite of the three artists is Kendrick Lamar. I find him to be a more relatable artist and I enjoy his music. In good kid, m.A.A.d. city, he talks about how his parents were always telling him what to do and who to hang out with. Essay On Deterministic ATPG PROR compaction scheme for larger circuits and longer vectors with deterministic ATPG Suresh k Devanathan Michael L Bushnell Abstract Reverse order restoration ROR techniques have found great use in sequential automatic test pattern generation ATPG, esp. spectral and perturbation based ATPG. This paper deals with improving ROR for that purpose. We introduce parallel fault Multipass 2 level polynomial reverse order restoration PROR algorithms with constant complexity of the form H(n)G(n) + c where H(n) is the number of the vectors to be released this iteration and G(n) is the attenuation factor. We introduce PROR, a new variant of ROR type compactors. They are noticeably very fast, and do have a lower quality trade off with vector length. In general, in this paper, we also present tricks that we used to tweak our tool. In the end, we present the results. II. ROR Out of the compaction algorithms, the most useful ones are RORs because unlike omission based sequential compactors, they take less time and unlike some schemes, they do not use a lot of memory space. The algorithm for a typical ROR is as follows. Drop all vectors Pick fault with highest detection time Restore vectors from that time instant If a fault is detected, stop, else keep restoring vectors Move on to the fault of the next highest detection time Repeat the process until necessary Differentalgorithmsplayonthisscheme.AnLROR,forexample, restores only one vector at a time and a radix reverse order restoration RROR scheme restores an exponential number of vectors each instant. For example, with radix 2, the scheme would restore 1,2,4,8 vectors, etc. RRORs although fast, are over ambitious, whereas LROR are too slow. The invention of PROR exists to solve these problems. Unlike fault simulators, which are exact, or have to be consistent with each other, each compactor has its own flavor. Compaction algorithms are inexact. The only exact thing about them is that their results have to be verifiable by a fault simulator and that they, in general, have to produce smaller ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the value of the stock had been below $45 for 4 months, the offer of 55 dollars represented a 29% premium to investors. Bollenbach knew that management would be resistant of any attempt to be acquired, regardless of price, because of failed previous attempts to negotiate a friendly merger at year end 1996. If the price of the stock fell below the $55 range, or the Board of Directors changed Bollenback would likely aggressively negotiate with shareholders to close the deal as quickly as possible. 3. • 17. Conversion Of A Lawn Mower Essay Conversion of a lawn mower to generator. INTRODUCTION: The lawn mower used had a 3.5 Horse power Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke gas engine. That particular model motor has a safety shut off lever on the lawn mower handle which has a cable attached to the motor, and the attached cable must be activated to disengage the motor shut off break and to allow spark to reach the spark plug. What was decided was to cut the cable off and deactivate the motor shut off feature. If the motor has this feature, the cable will have to be observed and also the levers on the motor to figure out a way to deactivate or preserve the feature. In both cases the motor will not start unless something is done about the cable and levers. A small hole was discovered in one of the lever plates on the side of the engine, the cable was then pulled, and a small nail was then inserted into the lever to keep the mechanism from retracting and shutting off the motor. As stated earlier, it will take a bit of time to figure out how the motor shut off mechanism works (if there is one installed on the motor). PROCEDURE: The first step is to remove the motor from the lawn mower base. Typically, there are 3 or 4 bolts holding the motor to the base, but before they can be removed, the mower blade and the shaft coupler that holds the blade on the motor shaft will need to be removed. Getting the blade and the coupling off is slightly difficult, but removing the blade is not nearly as difficult, however still requires a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Recent Onset Of Regional Lymphadenopathy Discussion When evaluating the recent onset of regional lymphadenopathy in a teenager, there are various etiologies that should be explored. Lymphadenopathy is often a benign entity that is self limiting but can also be the presenting sign of a more serious illness. Our patient had several signs and symptoms that were concerning for both a malignant etiology as well as an infectious cause for his acute, painful lymphadenopathy. Due to the commonality and potentially serious causes of lymphadenopathy, it is important for physicians to be able properly differentiate the more commonly benign causes from the potentially serious illnesses. When evaluating any patient with lymphadenitis a detailed history is paramount to finding the cause of the lymphadenitis, which can help guide treatment. Our patient has several elements in his history that point us to an infectious cause of his lymphadenopathy: exposure to pets, potential sexual activity, and skin flora exposure to an open wound. Our patient plays roughly with his kitten who scratches him on his legs. Bartonella henselae is a gram negative bacterium that can cause cat scratch disease, which is characterized by tender regional unilateral lymphadenopathy. In this disease, inguinal lymphadenopathy is present 18% of the time, which warrants its consideration in our differential diagnoisis1. After physical activity, the body usually has acute muscle soreness and delayed onset muscle soreness. During acute muscle soreness, pain is felt immediately after exercise. For example, if one works out their arms and back for an hour, they would feel a pain right after they leave the gym. Although it might be painful, it only lasts for a few minutes. Because the body has an accumulation of acid and tissue edema, the muscles become sore. After a while, the blood stream clears the acid and edema in which causes the pain in the muscles to disappear. On the other hand, delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), has a longer lasting effect on the muscles. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I ve chosen this statement for several reasons. Ibsen s character, Hedda Gabler, represents the women of the eighteenth and nineteenth century. Hedda stands the issues of self worth and the deflated value that each woman places upon her own importance as a result of male dominance. We can see this in the play, as we read we learn more about the character of Hedda Gabler. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hedda is a powerful woman, who on the surface appeared to be confined by a dress, imprisoned in man s house, and smothered by a male dominated society. Hedda was a calculating bitch who dared (quite shrewdly) to cross over her set in stone boundaries , manipulate others, and stand back and watch others lives be destroyed as a result. But when she is backed into a corner by the new creative couple (George and Thea) and Judge Brack, she takes the final power into her own hand. The irony is that the power is her late father s pistol. In the play, we can also sense how woman felt during the times of patriarchy. Hedda is an extraordinary and very complex character but at the same time is fairly simple to understand. Her evil doings are somewhat erased from our minds as we justify them, we feel pity towards Hedda because of the pitiful life she is trapped in, the distorted views on life that Hedda possesses come to a climax toward the end and we understand a bit more about her character. However, just as we begin to understand her actions and feel pity towards her instead of hate we sadly discover her death at the end. • 25. The Preparation Of Grignard Reagents The preparation of Grignard reagents typically involves the reaction of an alkyl halide or aryl halide with magnesium metal in an anhydrous ethereal solvent. This reaction results in the formation of a carbon magnesium complex within an alkyl magnesium halide or aryl magnesium halide. Grignard reagents are considered to be strong nucleophiles and strong bases that have the ability to react with acidic proton sources and carbonyl functional groups. The preparation of Grignard reagents must be conducted in aprotic solvents to minimize interactions with strong proton sources that may result in undesired products. Furthermore, the solvent chosen for the reaction must dissolve everything in solution. Commonly used solvents in Grignard reactions are diethyl ether and tetrahydrofuran (THF). They are preferred over hexane solvents due to the presence of an oxygen atom which contains a lone electron pair that attracts the partially positive magnesium metal, resulting in increased stability. As mentioned previously, Grignard reagents are strong nucleophiles. Thus, there is a possibility that they may react with other molecules in side reactions. One such side reaction involves the Grignard reagent reacting with molecular oxygen (O2) to form a peroxide molecule. In another side reaction, the Grignard reagent may react with carbon dioxide (CO2) to form a carboxylate molecule. These side reactions can pose a problem since molecular oxygen and carbon dioxide are in excess under normal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On first analyzing the play, one is not sure of what, if anything, happens or of the title character s significance. In attempting to unravel the themes of the play, interpreters have extracted a wide variety symbolism from the Godot s name. Some, taking an obvious hint, have proposed that Godot represents God and that the play is centered on religious symbolism. Others have taken the name as deriving from the French word for a boot, godillot. When performing early music, such as Canzon Septimi Toni a 8, musicians must study the styles and techniques musicians in that time period implemented, reciprocate the tone, timbre and articulations used in the renaissance era for this specific work, transpose the piece to their instrument, and know the differences between early and modern instrumentation needed to perform the piece. Giovanni Gabrieli, the man who composed Canzon Septimi Toni a 8, was a well known Renaissance composer born in 1556. Not only that, but he was an organist and teacher who learned everything he knew from his uncle, Andrea Gabrieli, whom he has to thank for his musical upbringing. Gabrieli himself was highly regarded and praised for his contributions to instrumental music for church use as well as choral and instrumental motets. Gabrieli also made use of the San Marco church layout; the two separate choir lofts in the church allowed him to create salient spatial effects, which in turn heavily influenced his style of music. Unfortunately, his health began to suffer and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Plea Bargaining Essay The art of plea bargaining is a tactic of the judicial system that keeps money and resources in mind when making these decisions. Plea deals help everyone involved. I think that the practice of plea bargaining should continue in this country for a variety of reasons. The plea bargain, in which the defense attorney and the prosecutor reach an agreement: The defendant agrees to plead guilty in exchange for a reduction of charges or a lighter sentence. As a result of this exchange, the prosecutor gains a quick, sure conviction; the offender receives a shorter sentence: and the defense attorney can move on to the next case. Thus, the cooperation underlying the exchange promotes the goals of each participant. (Cole Smith. 2010. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Should everyone be allowed a plea deal? This is a tricky question in my book. As stated in the questions about this topic, it states that plea deals are not constitutional, there fore it can be used at the prosecutors discretion. Should certain crime qualify and some not? I say, yes. If a person has committed a heinous crime and the prosecutor can prove without a shadow of a doubt the quilt of a defendant, then I say no plea deal. The other downfall of a plea deals is when the court of public opinion is calling for harsher sentencing than the prosecutor is offering. The public will demand justice for a crime committed, and in my opinion the prosecutor has a duty to render fair justice for the crime committed. Another factor in plea deals is keeping up the bargain. A defendant might have to do something to render the deal valid, for example, a defendant might have to testify against someone else, as in the case of Ricketts v. Adamson (1987). The ethics involved in making a deal can be tricky. How far should a prosecutor go to get a guilty plea? Playing by the rules is critical, when it comes to keeping our judicial system legitimate. If we go outside the rule to get a guilty plea, then we don t stand up to the fairness test. Altogether, I agree that plea deals are a net good to the system. If plea deals were not on the table before or during a trial, I think that our judicial system would be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
