Examples Of Calypso In The Odyssey
Calypso, a nymph in Greek Mythology, is first found holding the warrior Odysseus captive from his
journey home after the Trojan War. Her love for him is so strong that she cannot let him go. Homer
introduces Calypso as a beautiful goddess sitting on a tropical island while playing her lyre.
Continuing with the stereotypical goddess nature, Homer also reveals how strong emotions can cause
goddesses to act irrationally. Meanwhile, he also shows how their beauty plays and important part in
their personality and how people treat them. In the epic poem, The Odyssey, Homer depicts the
character Calypso with opposing characteristics to uphold the recurring contradicting goddess
personality; he shows her as lustrous yet manipulative. Beauty is an ... Show more content on

However, it is not out of her own heart. Zeus, the highest god, threatens her. Strangely enough, she
warns Odysseus because she knows the conflicts he will face when he leaves. But I will gladly advise
him I ll hide nothing so he can reach his native country unarmed (Homer 157). She also tells him that
he could be immortal with her on the island with her or have a deadly journey home. She attempts to
use his future encounters to her advantage. Unfortunately, based on past encounters Odysseus doesn t
trust Calypso shown in the following quote: I ll send him off, but not with an escort. I have no ships in
reach, no crew to ply the oars and send him shuddering over the sea s broad back (Homer 156). She
held Odysseus captive against his will. When forced to release him, he gives him only the best for his
journey home. Odysseus then becomes even more hesitant because Calypso does more than enough to
help him on his journey. Calypso uses a type of reverse psychology to try and prevent Odysseus from
leaving. Ultimately, her attempt fails and Odysseus leaves the island. Not only in the epic poem The
Odyssey but in Greek mythology goddesses have a reputation for emotional distress. They rank each
other based on physical attributes and how beautiful they are. The following standard is shown
consistently throughout the Odyssey; Calypso is an example. Homer illustrates Calypso with opposing
characteristics to maintain

Thelma And Louise Essay
Thelma Louise by director Ridley Scott is a powerful film because it is about more than just
friendship. It examines a bond between Thelma, played by Geena Davis and Louise, played by Susan
Sarandon. This film is about transformation, liberation, and escaping, it transcends the genre. (Lipsitz)
In the film Thelma Louise, the use of foreshadowing, mise en scene, and character development
depicts the message of men vs women. Thelma Louise begins by the two women attempting to be
free, free from responsibilities, relationships, work, and concerns. They want to escape from their lives
and experience something different and new. They meet a man named Harlan, whom Louise later
murders, bringing another level of freedom into the mix. This freedom becomes the goal for the rest of
the film while the girls try to escape from the police. They later become cornered by the police and the
FBI on the edge of the Grand Canyon, which leads Thelma and Louise to make the decision to drive
off the cliff. (Moura) One film technique used in Thelma ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning of this film, Thelma kind of behaves like a child. She is hesitant, messy, hasty,
anxious, but also spontaneous. Thelma tries to bring silly things with her that Louise disapproves of
and claims that they won t need them, like a lantern. In one of the scenes where the girls are on the
road, Thelma is shown with her legs relaxed on the dashboard and they are almost touching the
windshield, which Louise doesn t like at all. We also see Thelma s characteristics when Harlan
approaches the girls in the bar. Thelma is nice and welcomes him, she also laughs at all his jokes. In
this scene and throughout the film, Thelma is approachable, premature, pure, and spirited. For most of
the film, their personalities go unaltered until they get robbed by JD. Thelma then takes charge and
tells Louise that everything will be alright, she even robs a store to get more money.

Mterials Used for Turbine Blades in Jet Engines
Turbine blades used in jet engines can be made from such materials as nickel based superalloys. We
can, in principle, even use ceramic materials such as zirconia or other alloys based on steels. In some
cases, the blades may have to be coated with a thermal barrier coating
(TBC) to minimize exposure of the blade material to high temperatures. What design parameters
would you consider in selecting a material for the turbine blade and for the coating that would work
successfully in a turbine engine? Note that different parts of the engine are exposed to different
temperatures, and not all blades are exposed to relatively high operating temperatures.
What problems might occur? Consider the factors such as temperature and humidity in ... Show more

An Analysis Of Robert Stam s Time And The City
Both literature and cinema have the ability to emotionally engage its audience not just through the
language and visuals but through the poetics created from it. While literature focuses on precise
language and structuring, film can also make use of various mediums to build on a theme. Many of the
poetic themes in both mediums, however, are found in their use of disunity. Robert Stam appropriately
describes this power of disunity: Each of the filmic tracks can potentially develop an autonomous
temporality entering into complex relations with the other tracks. Film s multitrack nature makes it
possible to stage contradiction between music and image... A quoted piece of music, with its own
rhythm and continuity can accompany an image track characterized by a different rhythm and
continuity. Thus the cinema offers possibilities of disunity and disjunction not immediately available
to the novel. The possible contradictions between tracks can become an aesthetic resource. Terence
Davies Of Time and the City utilizes this multitrack nature of film. The juxtaposition of music,
sounds, and imagery helps elevate the themes and words of Davies. The Folks Who Live on the Hill
scene is a good example of visual metaphors through juxtaposition. The black and white montage
begins with shots of the elderly in a Liverpool neighborhood. These are then followed by clips of
parents nurturing their babies and children in the neighborhood, occasionally showing glimpses of the
elderly in the

Roman Republic Vs Roman Kingdom
In the reading assignment, I have learned so many differences between the two classes in the Roman
societies that lead to so many revolts. After I finished reading the documents, I realized that those
revolts also made Rome became the strong power that it was. And I imagine that if there were some
people like that in some societies, there would be more progress in those societies. We have to be clear
that the Roman society that I m talking about is the Roman Republic and not the Roman Kingdom.
The differences between those two are that the Roman Kingdom had a Monarch government that
means it was ruled by a king while the Roman Republic was a free government. To be honest with
you, I don t really understand the type of government that the Roman Republic had because in some
times, dictators were appointed, Senators were elected, and there were also popular assemblies. So, I
don t really know this type of government. As a free government, it is clear that people who are
wealthy and had more power would be more benefit in everything. I can qualify those people as the
aristocrats. They would group themselves to form a group of leaders to rule over the Republic. Here
came the creation of the two classes and the struggle between them. All over the world and ... Show

But, with their revolts, they obtained the same rights as the Patricians. There is one thing that keeps
my attention after I finished reading about the political equality of the Roman Republic. The division
between the two classes had caused the destruction of Rome by the Gaul and the Veil. The differences
made it weak and unprotected. References: William C. Morey. (1901). The Struggle for Economic

Design An Auv At Record The Lives Of Deep Sea Organisms
To: Professor Martin, WTSN 104, Section 57 From: Ryan O Connell Date: February 7, 2015 Re:
Research Paper #1 Problem Statement: Design an AUV to record the lives of deep sea organisms.
Introduction: AUV s are improving and technologically advancing to allow scientists and deep sea
researchers to explore the vast unknown of the underwater world. AUV s are automated underwater
vehicles that can explore bodies of water without the influence of an external control source. Although
AUV s have made much progression in the engineering world our research shows that they still need

The large scale system of currents that carry large bodies of water globally throughout the world is a
major factor that has to be considered when the construction of an AUV is in effect. This enormous
system of currents is known as the global conveyor belt . Not only is the global conveyor belt a huge
importance to bear in mind, but also in which part of the global conveyor belt will the AUV be
exploring. The global conveyor belt is greatly affected by the thermocline layer of the ocean. The
thermocline layer of the ocean is between the deep water layer of the ocean and the mixed water layer,
which lies at the top of the sea near the surface. Based on which layer of the ocean the water is in can
induce many different properties such as temperature and density and can influence different
components of the global conveyor belt. Although the thermocline layer of the ocean is a huge
influence on the way the global conveyor belt flows, there are many other factors that contribute to the
natural movement of the large scale currents (University of Illinois, 2010, n.p.). This widespread
system of currents starts its cycle all the way up in the North Atlantic near the North Pole. In the
beginning of its cycle the water begins on the surface of the ocean and is low in temperature due to the
freezing conditions in the Northern

Antimicrobial Stewardship Report
The world health organisation has announced antibiotic resistance and the rise of superbugs as a great
threat to human race. Superbugs are defined as bacteria equipped bacteria with bullet proof vests of
antibiotic resistance that deflect magic silver bullets of antibiotics. Under right circumstances, they
can transfer the antibiotic resistance genes to other bacteria and completely paralyse humans to
combat against bacteria (news.com.au 2014). In Australia, thousands of people per year are diagnosed
with superbugs and these victims often face a prolonged illness and ultimately death (Pogson 2012).
The severity of the problem can become apparent by referring to the death attributable to antibiotic
resistance every year from 2014 to 2050, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When antibiotic is used most of the bacteria die but a few bacteria with antibiotic resistance gene
survive and reproduce and pass this advantage to their offsprings. This selective pressure exists
naturally, however antibiotic misuse can be accused for fastening the spread of the antibiotic
resistance gene [Refer to figure 2] (Learn Genetics 2015). Consequently, inappropriate antibiotic
intake will lead to a greater chance of superbugs being developed. Antibiotic resistance can be defined
as a new ability which a bacterium has developed to stay unattached in the presence of an antibiotic
that was previously effective to destroy the bacterium (ABC science 2015). Four key mechanisms that
has been identified for bacterial antibiotic resistance can be listed as: producing enzymes that inhibit
the functionality of the drug, reducing the effectiveness of the drug by producing targets against which
the antibiotic, reducing the permeability of the drug into the bacterium and active export of antibiotics
using various pumps (Pogson 2012). All these mechanisms can be developed by any of the bacteria
when the corresponding mutated gene of antibacterial resistance is received. The genes code for
specific proteins, and variation in the gene leads to alteration of the shape of proteins. This leads to
changing the functionality

Why Cats Are Better Pets Than Dogs
Whether it is an inside cuddle buddy, or an outside mice killer, cats make wonderful pets. While dogs
stay dirty, drool, and bark, cats clean themselves, are clean animals, and meow quietly. Cats are warm
and fuzzy and love to cuddle while they take naps. Dogs are too rambunctious and energetic. Cats
make better pets than dogs.
Dogs can be good for people who are adventurous and outgoing. On the other hand, they are not good
for busy people, or people with jobs. Dogs have to get their energy out for them to be calm and
collected if they are inside dogs. If the dog is not an outside dog, then they have to run outside and get
exercise everyday. If a dog does not get their energy out they will most likely tear things up in the
house or run around

Enemy Within, Enemy Without By Anna Magnani
Enemy Within, Enemy Without
Anna Magnani stars as a resourceful working class Roman mother trying to overcome her unfortunate
past to give a better life to her children, even as outside threats threaten everything she has worked so
hard to build. This vague framework could easily describe both Roberto Rossellini s neorealist war
drama Rome, Open City and Pier Paolo Pasolini s irreverent rebuke Mamma Roma. Rome, Open City
concerns itself with the devastation the Italian people faced at the hands of their German occupiers
and their collaborators, the titular city and its inhabitants crumbling away in both body and spirit over
the course of a cruel winter. In their city s darkest hour, average citizens rise up to become heroes and

In the first place, it has the wind blown look of a film shot from actualities, with the camera
providentially on the scene. The stringent necessity for economy compelled the producers to make a
film that has all the appearance and flavor of a straight documentary.
Crudely shot on discarded US Signal Corps film whenever Rosellini could throw together the money
to pay for further filming, the film s bleak visuals become a character in and of themselves, bracingly
authentic despite their complete absence of polish. Much like the characters themselves, the film is
quite admirable despite being unrefined and without the proper resources to express itself.
By the time Pier Paolo Pasolini wrote the script for Mamma Roma in 1962, Rome had undergone
quite the dramatic makeover. Reaping the benefits from American investment and the creation of the
European Common Market, Italians saw their standard living rise to never before seen heights. As
John F. Kennedy extolled while addressing a dinner held in his honor by then President of Italy

My First Aid Kits
I rounded corners against the wet wind, squinting my eyes to avoid looking at our unnatural world.
My fists pounded against multiple shop doors, the lighting out in all of them. A pharmacy was found
after racing down three streets, the lights flickered and doors were shut. I kicked through the doors,
my foot jammed between the electronic passages until it finally gave. Don t leave it open! You re
insane, shut the door! The worker was on the floor behind the register and crawled out to scream at
me. I have an emergency, where are your first aid kits? We all have an emergency. We need the
supplies, too. Leave. He spat. You have ample and I have children who need them, where are they?

and filling it with half of the store s content. Theft wasn t on my conscious given that a part of our city
was in danger. Laws wouldn t exist if our world didn t. Gauze, ointment, pain killers, bandages, and
other supplies filled half the bag. After that, I went to the food and water isles, where I grabbed
multiple nonperishable food items. I stuffed my bag until it overflowed. My hand shoved my knife
into the belt on my waist and two six packs of water made their way into my hands. In the dark, I saw
a worker sticking a flashlight into my belt. A tall blonde girl gestured to where I fought the animal,
and back to me. She knew about them. She made her way to the entrance and removed the door
blockade. She nodded for me to go. Thank you. I spoke. Take care of things. She told me. I returned
down three more streets, looking for the building location that I had already forgotten the place. I saw

Bill De Blasio Case
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is accused of attacking the First Amendment to the United States
Constitution through his review of all of the contracts his city has with U.S. presidential contender
Donald Trump.
Trump has been criticized for his recent comments about immigrants from Mexico and has recently
lost private sector contracts as a result. That is a prerogative reserved for private business. However,
the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that such actions are stifling to free speech.
At his presidential campaign kickoff June 18, Trump said Mexican immigrants bring drugs into the
U.S. and they re bringing crime, they re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people. Some in the

Eugene Volokh, a law professor at the University of California Los Angeles, characterized the mayor s
statement as a real danger to public debate. He noted that a pall could be cast over all city contractors
as a result of the review and any eventual contract cancellation. He paraphrased de Blasio s actions as
we don t want to renew it [a Trump contract] because we don t like your speech.
The free speech rights of government contractors were resolved in the landmark 1996 Umbehr case
before the United States Supreme Court. In a 7 2 decision, the majority of justices ruled that
government contractors could not have existing contracts revoked because someone did not thing they
may have said in public. In that case, a county in Kansas fired a contractor because he often criticized
a county board. The Court said his First Amendment right to speak freely was infringed when the
county retaliated in the cancellation of his

behaviors that stick out to me. One is a contingent reward; I like to reward my subordinates and peers

that contingent rewards stimulate comradery in the work center for my subordinates and peers so they

The Weather Project Essay
The Weather Project by Olafur Eliasson By: Kayla Wilson Introduction: Olafur Eliasson, an
extraordinary artist of the 19th and 20th century, was born on February 5, 1967 in Copenhagen,
Denmark. All throughout Eliasson s childhood he was surrounded by beautiful, natural surroundings
that caused him to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for environment itself and natural
lights that create it. (1) From 1989 to 1995, Eliasson attended the Royal Academy of Arts in
Copenhagen. Eliasson began studying traditional art, but ultimately grew famous for his installations.
Around 1950, Eliasson began to participate in exhibitions world round: from museums such as the
Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, to the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Los
Angeles, to the London s Tate Modern. (**) Furthermore, Eliasson has several different solo
exhibitions; like his exhibition in ZKM in Karlsruhe, Germany. Another one of his very noteworthy
achievements was his participation in the 2003 Venice Biennale, representing Denmark. Eliasson is
currently residing in Germany and furthering his career in art. (1) Eliasson ultimately grew famous for
his lively installations, The Weather Project being one of his most famous installations. The Weather

Biblical Genealogy Is Important For Establishing Identity
Prior to this passage, Jacob moved his family to this region in Canaan and bought land from Hamor,
instead of remaining with Esau and kinfolk (Gen 33:18). Now in a land known to worship false gods,
Jacob and his family are vulnerable and separated from a community of likeminded practitioners.
When Genesis 34 begins, we learn the lineage of Dinah as Leah s daughter with Jacob (Gen 34:1).
Biblical genealogy is important to establishing identity as it expresses idealized understandings of
families. Leah is the daughter of Laban to which Jacob was tricked into marriage (Gen 29:21 25).
Leah, after birthing several sons, delivered a daughter for which she named Dinah (Gen 30:21). As a
sister with several older brothers, the assumption is that Dinah was sheltered and naïve since she is
alone in the city without an escort. Moshe Reiss in The Family Relationship of Simeon and Dina
states, She is under her father s protection and it seems unlikely that she went out without permission.
The term ‫ֵ֤צא‬ ‫ַוֵּת‬ ‫ות‬ ‫ֹ֖א‬ ‫ְר‬‫ִל‬ (went out to visit) causes much debate among critics as it is seen as an
inappropriate behavior for a young lady. The phrase went out to visit implies interaction with
outsiders. Dinah would not have gone out without knowing where she might be headed, as it would
have left her vulnerable and invited trouble. Without any further details, it is implied that travel was
accepted and a coexistence among the groups was present and generally peaceful.

The Lexus and the Olive Tree, written by Thomas L. Friedman, investigates the phenomenon of
globalization in our world and how it has established a new international system that has replaced the

Asians fighting a recession to Thai bankers to entrepreneurs in the United States. Friedman credits that
the democratization of technology, information, and finance has shrunk our world from small to tiny
where people all over the world can now transfer information cheaper, deeper, and faster. The walls
that once separated our world have now been torn down with the development of the Internet and the

How Uniformity Has Become A Major Part Of Military...
Uniformity has become a major part of military lifestyle since before the Revolutionary War. Every
item on a uniform has its own purpose and standards and should be held to that standard.Whether its
from the number of belt loops all trousers have, to the significance of left over rights on the boot sales,
every Marine should be held accountable for ensuring all pieces of the uniform are in its proper place.
The main uniform used today for all branches of service comes in many different patterns. For
Marines, there are two different uniforms, woodland MARPAT and desert MARPAT, or utility
uniforms. These are intended for wear in the field, or on working parties. but have become the typical
uniform for working on a daily basis, especially in Garrison or on deployment. The MARPAT is
designed to break up the wearers shape, and to identify a Marine as a Marine and not any other branch
of service. The Utilities we wear depend on the time of year and the region the Marine lives in. For
example, Marines on the west coast of the U.S. wear desert utilities in the spring and summer months.
Also, because we are in a desert environment, we wear these. Woodland utilities are worn in the
winter months due to the changing of the seasons and is also because of the rainy, greener climate. on
the other hand, those Marines on the east coast and over sees wear woodlands year round because they
are not in a desert environment, but a tropical or wooded area. The sleeves of all areas are rolled in

My analysis will show how interested Pearson is in distinguishing culture from that of ideology, and
exploring the ways in which it manifests itself in our lives.
With respect to the conventional cultural practices and ideologies that were in effect during the late
1970s, Pearson is often deviant throughout his memoir in regards to his personnel lifestyle choices,
from the way he dressed to the type of music he listens to. Pearson uses this deviation to aid in the
distinguishability between culture and society implemented ideologies, yet he does so ever so subtly.
One of the more subtle distinctions, is in a scene he recounts from when he was around the age of
seven:
He [Pearson s father] would freak out when he read the song titles to the cassettes that my friends and
I would shoplift from the mall...He was certain that I d become a Junkie if I listened to that kind of
music. But with an alcoholic wife beater father who didn t give a shit about his son I was bound to
avoid the cliched, nihilist aspects of punk culture (Pearson 12).
Pearson uses the word that in place of a specific genre title, such as punk , to highlight a subtle,
underlying conventional ideology one that is solely dictated by what society considers to be socially
acceptable. The fact that the music Pearson was listening to at the time had a stereotype [Junkie]

Reflective Essay On Astronomy
The last time I remember learning about astronomy formally was as far back as elementary school,
where we learned about the basics of our solar system s planets and other ideas about space commonly
known by most people. Having never studied astronomy at a higher level, going into this class felt
similar to traveling to a foreign country, or sailing in foreign waters, so to speak. Many of the concepts
and facts have been things I have had little to no prior knowledge of. But regardless of any of that, I
cannot express the importance of this area of study in my life. In the past I have read comments
online, as well as heard things in real life, about how some subjects have no value in being studied
unless one is majoring in them. While my major is not astronomy, much less even science, I still could
not disagree more with this sort of thought. I can relate to some of the concepts of astronomy on a
very deep and personal level, to the point where my psychological state is affected, and I will explain
these thoughts in detail later. While these areas of great interest have not yet been covered in the
course, I cannot say that I have not found all of the current topics fascinating. As one who has a deep
interest in mathematics, I found a few of the concepts rather thought provoking, and I will again this
later. I will lastly discuss what I thought of the material as a whole, what I got most out of it, and what
my experiences were during and after learning it. Out of everything

than twice compared to the 11% of Caucasian households. 93% of counties that possess an African

The younger generation of African Americans is also severely affected by poverty. 45.8% of young

black children are at a socioeconomic disadvantage that makes them more vulnerable than any other
racial groups to live in areas of highly concentrated poverty where they are at greater risks of being

Introduction
In the past few decades there have been many developments in the live music events industry, which
have led to live music events growing to be global events. (Goldblatt, J., 2002) There are several
reasons for this development in the music events industry, many of them closely connected to
developments in other sectors that influence the business of live music events. In this essay we will
discuss the commercial, social, legal, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Mintel, 2010) Also charity events have increased the global involvement in music events and have
attracted not only a wider variety of public but also political involvement. Because of this, live music
events have been able to attract a much bigger variety of public, which has enabled the business to
create global music events that are not focused on a particular segment of people but attract people of
all ages and social backgrounds. (Bennett, A., 2001)
Legal
As a result of commercial success and growth in the live music events business legal involvement has
over the years become necessary and this means involvement of an entire business that has contributed
to the growth of the music events industry in many ways. According to D. Becker (2006) the growth
in commercial value and the increase of complexity of live music events have increased the need to
record arrangements in writing and have made the legal rights and obligations of the parties involved
more complex. This has led to the legal business becoming a big part of the live music business
because especially with global music events so many parties are involved and thus so many legal
involvement has become necessary. In this day and age where digitalization has influenced the music
business so severely, new legislation is introduced every year to update the copyright code (Bargfrede
and Mak, 2009) and this has directly and indirectly influenced the

Prometheus Meaning
In 1930 José Clemente Orozco, a famous mural painter known for his radical art depicting the
Mexican revolution in interesting new ways, was asked to paint a mural in the college Pomona. This is
when and where he painted his mural titled Prometheus . In this work, Orozco s use of scale,
monochromatic colors, and emphasis help to depict the dreadfulness of the troubling time at war that it
is inspired by as well as the peace that was expected, and that came, from these times. Scale plays a
major role in the meaning of this work as a whole. In the mural one of the first things that is noticed is
the contrast in scale between the central figure and the surrounding figures in the background. This
style could have been chosen for many reasons. In this situation it seems safe to say that the central
figure is Prometheus. By making Prometheus this large, the viewer is able to make a distinction
between his importance in contrast to the remaining figures importance. Prometheus in Greek
mythology is known as a titan who steals fire from the gods and disperses it to the people of the world.

In this mural the main emphasis is placed on Prometheus. In doing this, Orozco is bringing the center
of attention on this figure and allowing the rest of the people to fade into the background. By using
emphasis in this way he is able to focus the attention on Prometheus, providing a strong focal point for
the work. By giving a visually overwhelming work emphasis on a focal point so large, the mural is
given a sense of balance allowing for there to be a sort of peace to the eye in that the viewer is not
having to search the art to find a central focal point. The use of emphasis to provide this is used by
Orozco to show the greater picture that he is trying to portray, the idea that the revolution brought a
sense of peace to Mexico in spite of all the chaos that had come with

process that aids us to understanding others as well as ourselves. This paper will discuss anxiety

The complete results of the study can be found in the American Medical Association journal. The
study results are criticized by some arguing the accuracy of the numbers. This is mostly because many
countries have different values and most are not openly willing to admit to mental illness. In addition,
other countries do not allow the freedom of speech or public opinion. It is because of these and other
hidden stigmas that vary from country to country researchers believe the numbers reported may
actually be higher. In the United States this is not as great of an issue since mental disorders have been
publicized greatly in recent years. This means there is a strong possibility America might not rank as
high in mental disorders when compared to other countries. One thing all countries studied had in
common is the lack of treatment in serious cases which only make matter worse. Lack of access to
health care is the primary reason for under treatment also most insures do not cover mental health.
Insurance companies have recently given more attention and consideration towards mental illnesses
and disorders ( Shiraev amp; Levy 2010). People decisions, attitudes, and beliefs are acquired from
their cultural roots. There are several types of anxiety disorders, some of the most common are;

Notice how the questions go from broad to specific. Keep that format if you add your own questions.

British Airways And Ryanair And The Airline Industry
Introduction
In today s business world, Aviation industry is frequently developing rapidly in order to compete
among each other and survive in the larger markets leading to aggregate competition between low
cost/no frills carriers LCC and the more traditional full service carriers FSC (Hunter: 2006). Due to
rapid development, consumer trend tend to improve in the market because flying on mainstream
carriers was no longer cost effective, therefore, low cost carrier was introduced (Whitelegg: 2005).

Ryanair incorporated at no frills, low cost, quick to reach consumers destinations in a much
modernized aviation industry. For instance, it is more cheaply, and more reliable, than any other
airline including British Airways. They do not compromise on safety, top drawer punctuality, near
perfect baggage handling and efficient green policy. The target markets of this particular airline are
those who compromises on comfort and fare conscious customers. For example: Students, low income
earners, busy businessmen, and family (Ryanair.com). On the other hand, British Airways strategy is
to become the world s leading global premium airline by making cost that is base more efficiently and
focus on outstanding customer service, which is a critical part of their strategy. The 5 strategy goals
are to be the airline of choice for long haul premium customers, deliver and outstanding service for
customers at every touch point, grow their presence in key global cities, build on the leading position
in London and meet customers needs and improve margins through new revenue streams (British
Airways PLC .com). The target market of British Airways is leisure travellers, consumers who want
comfort and cost is not an issue (marketingmagazine.co.uk). Both aviation companies are customers
based but they do differ from each other in their operation strategy.

sentenced to death. Convictions were affirmed by the Court of Appeals in Maryland. Their trials were
processed separately. At Brady s trial, he took stand and maintained that he participated in the
preceding robbery, but not in the killing. At the sentencing, both men received the death penalty.
Brady s counsel conceded that Brady was guilty of murder in the first degree, and asking the jury to
return that verdict without capital punishment. Prior to the trial counsel requested to examine Boblit s

The War Of The American Civil War
When the American Civil War began in the spring of 1861, those flocking to enlistment stations in
states both north and south chiefly defined their cause as one of preservation. From Maine to
Minnesota, young men joined up to preserve the Union. From Virginia to Texas, their future foes on
the battlefield enlisted to preserve a social order, a social order at its core built on the institution of
slavery and racial superiority . Secession had not been framed by prominent Southerners like Robert
Toombs as a defensive measure to retain the fruits of the revolution against King George, a fight
against those who sought to intrique insurrection with all its nameless horrors. (Toombs Speech) On
January 1, 1863, when Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamation went into effect the war became a
revolution. The Union, the soldiers in blue fought to preserve could no longer exist. On every mile of
soil, they would return to the Stars and Stripes from that moment on, the fabric of society would be
irrevocably changed. In May of 1865, with the abolition of slavery engrained into the Constitution
with the passage of the 13th Amendment, the Confederate armies of Lee and Johnston disbanded, and
Lincoln dead of an assassin s bullet; this change was the only certainty the torn fabric of the newly
reunited states was left to be resown. Andrew Johnson and Southern Democrats believed the
revolution of 1863 had gone far enough. Radical Republicans and African Americans sought instead to

Internet And The Internet Essay
Since the late 1960s and early 1970s, computer scientists have improved the accessibility of the
internet to all people. Technology has continuously improved through the introduction of computer
programming and coding and the use of cellular devices. Today, anyone can have access to internet
through the various forms of technology such as cell phones, computers, laptops, tablets, smart
watches, etc. Over the past 15 years, the internet has begun to incorporate itself into education by
allowing students to perform research more efficiently and have more interactive learning through the
use of educational websites, Smart Boards, etc. Accordingly, not only has the internet greatly impacted
education making it more interesting, but it has also impacted domestic lives. Parents now have an
easier way for their children to learn online at earlier ages through educational websites and online
learning programs, such as Starfall and ABCMouse. Children, from ages as young as three years old to
teenagers, have learned to operate the internet. Although children have developed this knowledge,
consequently, many have failed to learn the repercussions of their actions when inappropriately using
the internet. One of the most common repercussions one can often face is bullying through the
internet, entitled as cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is defined as verbally harming an individual or

Class Differences In Education Since 1918
How have class and gender affected educational experiences since 1918, and has this changed over
time?
In 1917, during a speech at Newcastle, English historian, educator and politician H. A. L. Fisher
argued that Education was an important tool in creating a harmonious and equitable society; a society
free from class preconceptions and bias. Fisher stated, Education dispels the hideous clouds of class
suspicion and softens the asperities of faction (cited in Simon, 1965, p. 344). In the same year,
members of the Workers Educational Association (WEA) made a statement declaring their wish to
eliminate inequalities within higher education, stating that they are united in the desire to bring within
reach [...] the Higher Education which has hitherto been too much the privilege of the few (Reported
in The Highway, February 1917, cited in Simon, 1965, p. 329). Yet, for the next fifty years, the class
division, factions and inequalities noted in 1917 by Fisher and the WEA would continue to permeate
the English education system, with social class and gender continuing to shape educational
experiences. Considering this, this essay will explore how issues of class and gender have affected

Labour Relation Approach and Issues Labour relation or what we call industrial relation is the heart of
any industrial system. It is know as the relation between employees and employers of a company. For
a successful growth of business of big or small firm this relation are needed to be smooth and healthy.
Many writers have tried to define labour relation in different ways. Meaning of labour relation has
kept on changing with the change in nature of work, technology and most important globalization.

Zoroastrianism And Jainism Similarities
The religion I decided to further my knowledge about was, Jainism. In my research, I learned that
Jainism is a religion that values the individual as well as the impact each individual has on people and
the world around them. Their belief system relies on no presence of gods or spirits to intervene with
the souls withing plants, animals, and human alike stating that each being should be treated with level
of compassion exceeding their own self value. Subsequently, their beliefs regarding death and the
afterlife are reliant on how they treated others and living beings; the use of karma in this religion is
used as a personal code of conduct in order to obtain liberation leading to the achievement of
reincarnation. Interestingly, as stated within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One common core belief of both Jainism and Zoroastrianism is the idea of the earth and the elements
being considered beautiful and the work of gods they both find them to be pure (earth, wind, fire, and
air). However, Zoroastrianism emphasizes that the decomposition of these or of people are the work of
evil gods and now have become un pure. Whereas, Jainism views death as a welcome gateway to the
next birth (McCarthy). When it comes down to what each religion does with the body, they are similar
and different in this prospect. Jainism believes that upon death, a Jain s body is cremated and not
buried. However, in the case of stillbirth, the child is buried (Salgia). This is where it gets kind of
dicey with regards to burial, because neither religion particularly believes that you should bury a body.
Instead of burying the corpse, Zoroastrians traditionally laid it out on a purpose built tower (dokhma
or Tower of Silence ) to be exposed to the sun and eaten by birds of prey such as vultures (BBC).
However, like Jainism, Zoroastrianism will opt for cremation (in preference to burial due to modern
intervention) if they are unable to achieve traditional death rituals in both religions they seem to make
sure no aspect (except perhaps bones) are reserved from the body. When it comes to how each of these
religions think of the afterlife they differ greatly. While Zoroastrianism state that on the fourth day, the

  • 2. Examples Of Calypso In The Odyssey Calypso, a nymph in Greek Mythology, is first found holding the warrior Odysseus captive from his journey home after the Trojan War. Her love for him is so strong that she cannot let him go. Homer introduces Calypso as a beautiful goddess sitting on a tropical island while playing her lyre. Continuing with the stereotypical goddess nature, Homer also reveals how strong emotions can cause goddesses to act irrationally. Meanwhile, he also shows how their beauty plays and important part in their personality and how people treat them. In the epic poem, The Odyssey, Homer depicts the character Calypso with opposing characteristics to uphold the recurring contradicting goddess personality; he shows her as lustrous yet manipulative. Beauty is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it is not out of her own heart. Zeus, the highest god, threatens her. Strangely enough, she warns Odysseus because she knows the conflicts he will face when he leaves. But I will gladly advise him I ll hide nothing so he can reach his native country unarmed (Homer 157). She also tells him that he could be immortal with her on the island with her or have a deadly journey home. She attempts to use his future encounters to her advantage. Unfortunately, based on past encounters Odysseus doesn t trust Calypso shown in the following quote: I ll send him off, but not with an escort. I have no ships in reach, no crew to ply the oars and send him shuddering over the sea s broad back (Homer 156). She held Odysseus captive against his will. When forced to release him, he gives him only the best for his journey home. Odysseus then becomes even more hesitant because Calypso does more than enough to help him on his journey. Calypso uses a type of reverse psychology to try and prevent Odysseus from leaving. Ultimately, her attempt fails and Odysseus leaves the island. Not only in the epic poem The Odyssey but in Greek mythology goddesses have a reputation for emotional distress. They rank each other based on physical attributes and how beautiful they are. The following standard is shown consistently throughout the Odyssey; Calypso is an example. Homer illustrates Calypso with opposing characteristics to maintain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Thelma And Louise Essay Thelma Louise by director Ridley Scott is a powerful film because it is about more than just friendship. It examines a bond between Thelma, played by Geena Davis and Louise, played by Susan Sarandon. This film is about transformation, liberation, and escaping, it transcends the genre. (Lipsitz) In the film Thelma Louise, the use of foreshadowing, mise en scene, and character development depicts the message of men vs women. Thelma Louise begins by the two women attempting to be free, free from responsibilities, relationships, work, and concerns. They want to escape from their lives and experience something different and new. They meet a man named Harlan, whom Louise later murders, bringing another level of freedom into the mix. This freedom becomes the goal for the rest of the film while the girls try to escape from the police. They later become cornered by the police and the FBI on the edge of the Grand Canyon, which leads Thelma and Louise to make the decision to drive off the cliff. (Moura) One film technique used in Thelma ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning of this film, Thelma kind of behaves like a child. She is hesitant, messy, hasty, anxious, but also spontaneous. Thelma tries to bring silly things with her that Louise disapproves of and claims that they won t need them, like a lantern. In one of the scenes where the girls are on the road, Thelma is shown with her legs relaxed on the dashboard and they are almost touching the windshield, which Louise doesn t like at all. We also see Thelma s characteristics when Harlan approaches the girls in the bar. Thelma is nice and welcomes him, she also laughs at all his jokes. In this scene and throughout the film, Thelma is approachable, premature, pure, and spirited. For most of the film, their personalities go unaltered until they get robbed by JD. Thelma then takes charge and tells Louise that everything will be alright, she even robs a store to get more money. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Mterials Used for Turbine Blades in Jet Engines Turbine blades used in jet engines can be made from such materials as nickel based superalloys. We can, in principle, even use ceramic materials such as zirconia or other alloys based on steels. In some cases, the blades may have to be coated with a thermal barrier coating (TBC) to minimize exposure of the blade material to high temperatures. What design parameters would you consider in selecting a material for the turbine blade and for the coating that would work successfully in a turbine engine? Note that different parts of the engine are exposed to different temperatures, and not all blades are exposed to relatively high operating temperatures. What problems might occur? • 5. An Analysis Of Robert Stam s Time And The City Both literature and cinema have the ability to emotionally engage its audience not just through the language and visuals but through the poetics created from it. While literature focuses on precise language and structuring, film can also make use of various mediums to build on a theme. Many of the poetic themes in both mediums, however, are found in their use of disunity. Robert Stam appropriately describes this power of disunity: Each of the filmic tracks can potentially develop an autonomous temporality entering into complex relations with the other tracks. Film s multitrack nature makes it possible to stage contradiction between music and image... A quoted piece of music, with its own rhythm and continuity can accompany an image track characterized by a different rhythm and continuity. Thus the cinema offers possibilities of disunity and disjunction not immediately available to the novel. The possible contradictions between tracks can become an aesthetic resource. Terence Davies Of Time and the City utilizes this multitrack nature of film. The juxtaposition of music, sounds, and imagery helps elevate the themes and words of Davies. The Folks Who Live on the Hill scene is a good example of visual metaphors through juxtaposition. The black and white montage begins with shots of the elderly in a Liverpool neighborhood. These are then followed by clips of parents nurturing their babies and children in the neighborhood, occasionally showing glimpses of the elderly in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Roman Republic Vs Roman Kingdom In the reading assignment, I have learned so many differences between the two classes in the Roman societies that lead to so many revolts. After I finished reading the documents, I realized that those revolts also made Rome became the strong power that it was. And I imagine that if there were some people like that in some societies, there would be more progress in those societies. We have to be clear that the Roman society that I m talking about is the Roman Republic and not the Roman Kingdom. The differences between those two are that the Roman Kingdom had a Monarch government that means it was ruled by a king while the Roman Republic was a free government. To be honest with you, I don t really understand the type of government that the Roman Republic had because in some times, dictators were appointed, Senators were elected, and there were also popular assemblies. So, I don t really know this type of government. As a free government, it is clear that people who are wealthy and had more power would be more benefit in everything. I can qualify those people as the aristocrats. They would group themselves to form a group of leaders to rule over the Republic. Here came the creation of the two classes and the struggle between them. All over the world and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But, with their revolts, they obtained the same rights as the Patricians. There is one thing that keeps my attention after I finished reading about the political equality of the Roman Republic. Design An Auv At Record The Lives Of Deep Sea Organisms To: Professor Martin, WTSN 104, Section 57 From: Ryan O Connell Date: February 7, 2015 Re: Research Paper #1 Problem Statement: Design an AUV to record the lives of deep sea organisms. Introduction: AUV s are improving and technologically advancing to allow scientists and deep sea researchers to explore the vast unknown of the underwater world. AUV s are automated underwater vehicles that can explore bodies of water without the influence of an external control source. Although AUV s have made much progression in the engineering world our research shows that they still need improving. The engineering element is not the only aspect that goes into making AUV s, but also comes with a variety of other factors including the region in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The large scale system of currents that carry large bodies of water globally throughout the world is a major factor that has to be considered when the construction of an AUV is in effect. This enormous system of currents is known as the global conveyor belt . Not only is the global conveyor belt a huge importance to bear in mind, but also in which part of the global conveyor belt will the AUV be exploring. The global conveyor belt is greatly affected by the thermocline layer of the ocean. The thermocline layer of the ocean is between the deep water layer of the ocean and the mixed water layer, which lies at the top of the sea near the surface. Based on which layer of the ocean the water is in can induce many different properties such as temperature and density and can influence different components of the global conveyor belt. Although the thermocline layer of the ocean is a huge influence on the way the global conveyor belt flows, there are many other factors that contribute to the natural movement of the large scale currents (University of Illinois, 2010, n.p.). This widespread system of currents starts its cycle all the way up in the North Atlantic near the North Pole. In the beginning of its cycle the water begins on the surface of the ocean and is low in temperature due to the freezing conditions in the Northern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Antimicrobial Stewardship Report The world health organisation has announced antibiotic resistance and the rise of superbugs as a great threat to human race. Superbugs are defined as bacteria equipped bacteria with bullet proof vests of antibiotic resistance that deflect magic silver bullets of antibiotics. Under right circumstances, they can transfer the antibiotic resistance genes to other bacteria and completely paralyse humans to combat against bacteria (news.com.au 2014). In Australia, thousands of people per year are diagnosed with superbugs and these victims often face a prolonged illness and ultimately death (Pogson 2012). The severity of the problem can become apparent by referring to the death attributable to antibiotic resistance every year from 2014 to 2050, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When antibiotic is used most of the bacteria die but a few bacteria with antibiotic resistance gene survive and reproduce and pass this advantage to their offsprings. This selective pressure exists naturally, however antibiotic misuse can be accused for fastening the spread of the antibiotic resistance gene [Refer to figure 2] (Learn Genetics 2015). Consequently, inappropriate antibiotic intake will lead to a greater chance of superbugs being developed. Antibiotic resistance can be defined as a new ability which a bacterium has developed to stay unattached in the presence of an antibiotic that was previously effective to destroy the bacterium (ABC science 2015). Four key mechanisms that has been identified for bacterial antibiotic resistance can be listed as: producing enzymes that inhibit the functionality of the drug, reducing the effectiveness of the drug by producing targets against which the antibiotic, reducing the permeability of the drug into the bacterium and active export of antibiotics using various pumps (Pogson 2012). All these mechanisms can be developed by any of the bacteria when the corresponding mutated gene of antibacterial resistance is received. The genes code for specific proteins, and variation in the gene leads to alteration of the shape of proteins. This leads to changing the functionality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While dogs stay dirty, drool, and bark, cats clean themselves, are clean animals, and meow quietly. Cats are warm and fuzzy and love to cuddle while they take naps. Dogs are too rambunctious and energetic. Cats make better pets than dogs. Dogs can be good for people who are adventurous and outgoing. On the other hand, they are not good for busy people, or people with jobs. Dogs have to get their energy out for them to be calm and collected if they are inside dogs. Enemy Within, Enemy Without By Anna Magnani Enemy Within, Enemy Without Anna Magnani stars as a resourceful working class Roman mother trying to overcome her unfortunate past to give a better life to her children, even as outside threats threaten everything she has worked so hard to build. This vague framework could easily describe both Roberto Rossellini s neorealist war drama Rome, Open City and Pier Paolo Pasolini s irreverent rebuke Mamma Roma. Rome, Open City concerns itself with the devastation the Italian people faced at the hands of their German occupiers and their collaborators, the titular city and its inhabitants crumbling away in both body and spirit over the course of a cruel winter. In the first place, it has the wind blown look of a film shot from actualities, with the camera providentially on the scene. The stringent necessity for economy compelled the producers to make a film that has all the appearance and flavor of a straight documentary. Crudely shot on discarded US Signal Corps film whenever Rosellini could throw together the money to pay for further filming, the film s bleak visuals become a character in and of themselves, bracingly authentic despite their complete absence of polish. Much like the characters themselves, the film is quite admirable despite being unrefined and without the proper resources to express itself. By the time Pier Paolo Pasolini wrote the script for Mamma Roma in 1962, Rome had undergone quite the dramatic makeover. Reaping the benefits from American investment and the creation of the European Common Market, Italians saw their standard living rise to never before seen heights. As John F. My fists pounded against multiple shop doors, the lighting out in all of them. A pharmacy was found after racing down three streets, the lights flickered and doors were shut. I kicked through the doors, my foot jammed between the electronic passages until it finally gave. Don t leave it open! You re insane, shut the door! The worker was on the floor behind the register and crawled out to scream at me. I have an emergency, where are your first aid kits? We all have an emergency. We need the supplies, too. Leave. Theft wasn t on my conscious given that a part of our city was in danger. Laws wouldn t exist if our world didn t. Gauze, ointment, pain killers, bandages, and other supplies filled half the bag. After that, I went to the food and water isles, where I grabbed multiple nonperishable food items. I stuffed my bag until it overflowed. My hand shoved my knife into the belt on my waist and two six packs of water made their way into my hands. In the dark, I saw a worker sticking a flashlight into my belt. • 12. Bill De Blasio Case New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is accused of attacking the First Amendment to the United States Constitution through his review of all of the contracts his city has with U.S. presidential contender Donald Trump. Trump has been criticized for his recent comments about immigrants from Mexico and has recently lost private sector contracts as a result. That is a prerogative reserved for private business. However, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that such actions are stifling to free speech. Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz declared the review plainly unconstitutional and not the American way. He paraphrased de Blasio s actions as we don t want to renew it [a Trump contract] because we don t like your speech. The free speech rights of government contractors were resolved in the landmark 1996 Umbehr case before the United States Supreme Court. In a 7 2 decision, the majority of justices ruled that government contractors could not have existing contracts revoked because someone did not thing they may have said in public. I believe that contingent rewards stimulate comradery in the work center for my subordinates and peers so they enjoy coming to work. • 15. Biblical Genealogy Is Important For Establishing Identity Prior to this passage, Jacob moved his family to this region in Canaan and bought land from Hamor, instead of remaining with Esau and kinfolk (Gen 33:18). Now in a land known to worship false gods, Jacob and his family are vulnerable and separated from a community of likeminded practitioners. When Genesis 34 begins, we learn the lineage of Dinah as Leah s daughter with Jacob (Gen 34:1). Biblical genealogy is important to establishing identity as it expresses idealized understandings of families. Leah is the daughter of Laban to which Jacob was tricked into marriage (Gen 29:21 25). Leah, after birthing several sons, delivered a daughter for which she named Dinah (Gen 30:21). As a sister with several older brothers, the assumption is that Dinah was sheltered and naïve since she is alone in the city without an escort. Moshe Reiss in The Family Relationship of Simeon and Dina states, She is under her father s protection and it seems unlikely that she went out without permission. The term ‫ֵ֤צא‬ ‫ַוֵּת‬ ‫ות‬ ‫ֹ֖א‬ ‫ְר‬‫ִל‬ (went out to visit) causes much debate among critics as it is seen as an inappropriate behavior for a young lady. The phrase went out to visit implies interaction with outsiders. Dinah would not have gone out without knowing where she might be headed, as it would have left her vulnerable and invited trouble. Without any further details, it is implied that travel was accepted and a coexistence among the groups was present and generally peaceful. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This new system of globalization connects people from all over the world from Southeast Asians fighting a recession to Thai bankers to entrepreneurs in the United States. Friedman credits that the democratization of technology, information, and finance has shrunk our world from small to tiny where people all over the world can now transfer information cheaper, deeper, and faster. • 17. How Uniformity Has Become A Major Part Of Military... Uniformity has become a major part of military lifestyle since before the Revolutionary War. Every item on a uniform has its own purpose and standards and should be held to that standard.Whether its from the number of belt loops all trousers have, to the significance of left over rights on the boot sales, every Marine should be held accountable for ensuring all pieces of the uniform are in its proper place. The main uniform used today for all branches of service comes in many different patterns. For Marines, there are two different uniforms, woodland MARPAT and desert MARPAT, or utility uniforms. These are intended for wear in the field, or on working parties. but have become the typical uniform for working on a daily basis, especially in Garrison or on deployment. The MARPAT is designed to break up the wearers shape, and to identify a Marine as a Marine and not any other branch of service. The Utilities we wear depend on the time of year and the region the Marine lives in. For example, Marines on the west coast of the U.S. wear desert utilities in the spring and summer months. Also, because we are in a desert environment, we wear these. Woodland utilities are worn in the winter months due to the changing of the seasons and is also because of the rainy, greener climate. on the other hand, those Marines on the east coast and over sees wear woodlands year round because they are not in a desert environment, but a tropical or wooded area. With respect to the conventional cultural practices and ideologies that were in effect during the late 1970s, Pearson is often deviant throughout his memoir in regards to his personnel lifestyle choices, from the way he dressed to the type of music he listens to. Pearson uses this deviation to aid in the distinguishability between culture and society implemented ideologies, yet he does so ever so subtly. One of the more subtle distinctions, is in a scene he recounts from when he was around the age of seven: He [Pearson s father] would freak out when he read the song titles to the cassettes that my friends and I would shoplift from the mall...He was certain that I d become a Junkie if I listened to that kind of music. But with an alcoholic wife beater father who didn t give a shit about his son I was bound to avoid the cliched, nihilist aspects of punk culture (Pearson 12). Many of the concepts and facts have been things I have had little to no prior knowledge of. But regardless of any of that, I cannot express the importance of this area of study in my life. In the past I have read comments online, as well as heard things in real life, about how some subjects have no value in being studied unless one is majoring in them. While my major is not astronomy, much less even science, I still could not disagree more with this sort of thought. I can relate to some of the concepts of astronomy on a very deep and personal level, to the point where my psychological state is affected, and I will explain these thoughts in detail later. While these areas of great interest have not yet been covered in the course, I cannot say that I have not found all of the current topics fascinating. As one who has a deep interest in mathematics, I found a few of the concepts rather thought provoking, and I will again this later. (Mintel, 2010) Also charity events have increased the global involvement in music events and have attracted not only a wider variety of public but also political involvement. Because of this, live music events have been able to attract a much bigger variety of public, which has enabled the business to create global music events that are not focused on a particular segment of people but attract people of all ages and social backgrounds. (Bennett, A., 2001) Legal As a result of commercial success and growth in the live music events business legal involvement has over the years become necessary and this means involvement of an entire business that has contributed to the growth of the music events industry in many ways. According to D. Becker (2006) the growth in commercial value and the increase of complexity of live music events have increased the need to record arrangements in writing and have made the legal rights and obligations of the parties involved more complex. This has led to the legal business becoming a big part of the live music business because especially with global music events so many parties are involved and thus so many legal involvement has become necessary. Prometheus Meaning In 1930 José Clemente Orozco, a famous mural painter known for his radical art depicting the Mexican revolution in interesting new ways, was asked to paint a mural in the college Pomona. This is when and where he painted his mural titled Prometheus . In this work, Orozco s use of scale, monochromatic colors, and emphasis help to depict the dreadfulness of the troubling time at war that it is inspired by as well as the peace that was expected, and that came, from these times. Scale plays a major role in the meaning of this work as a whole. In the mural one of the first things that is noticed is the contrast in scale between the central figure and the surrounding figures in the background. This style could have been chosen for many reasons. In this situation it seems safe to say that the central figure is Prometheus. It is because of these and other hidden stigmas that vary from country to country researchers believe the numbers reported may actually be higher. If you were not a father there would be nothing I could reproach you with, said Anna Pavlovna, looking up pensively. I am your faithful slave and to you alone I can confess that my children are the bane of my life. It is the cross I have to bear. That is how I explain it to myself. It can t be helped! He said no more, but expressed his resignation to cruel fate by a gesture. Anna Pavlovna meditated. Have you never thought of marrying your prodigal son Anatole? she asked. They say old maids have a mania for matchmaking, and though I don t feel that weakness in myself as yet,I know a little person who is very unhappy with her father. She is a relation of yours, Princess Mary Bolkonskaya. Prince Vasili did not reply, though, with the quickness of memory and perception befitting a man of the world, he indicated by a movement of the head that he was considering this information. Do you know, he said at last, evidently unable to check the sad current of his thoughts, that Anatole is costing me forty thousand rubles a year? • 37. Class Differences In Education Since 1918 How have class and gender affected educational experiences since 1918, and has this changed over time? In 1917, during a speech at Newcastle, English historian, educator and politician H. A. L. Fisher argued that Education was an important tool in creating a harmonious and equitable society; a society free from class preconceptions and bias. Fisher stated, Education dispels the hideous clouds of class suspicion and softens the asperities of faction (cited in Simon, 1965, p. 344). In the same year, members of the Workers Educational Association (WEA) made a statement declaring their wish to eliminate inequalities within higher education, stating that they are united in the desire to bring within reach [...] the Higher Education which has hitherto been too much the privilege of the few (Reported in The Highway, February 1917, cited in Simon, 1965, p. 329). Yet, for the next fifty years, the class division, factions and inequalities noted in 1917 by Fisher and the WEA would continue to permeate the English education system, with social class and gender continuing to shape educational experiences. Considering this, this essay will explore how issues of class and gender have affected educational experiences in the years since 1918, with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Venkataratnam, 1996 industrial conflicts in 1990 increased both in public and private sector. This caused multinational and private sector industries to implement Human Resources Management practise to change traditional union management relations. • 42. Zoroastrianism And Jainism Similarities The religion I decided to further my knowledge about was, Jainism. In my research, I learned that Jainism is a religion that values the individual as well as the impact each individual has on people and the world around them. Their belief system relies on no presence of gods or spirits to intervene with the souls withing plants, animals, and human alike stating that each being should be treated with level of compassion exceeding their own self value. Subsequently, their beliefs regarding death and the afterlife are reliant on how they treated others and living beings; the use of karma in this religion is used as a personal code of conduct in order to obtain liberation leading to the achievement of reincarnation. Interestingly, as stated within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One common core belief of both Jainism and Zoroastrianism is the idea of the earth and the elements being considered beautiful and the work of gods they both find them to be pure (earth, wind, fire, and air). However, Zoroastrianism emphasizes that the decomposition of these or of people are the work of evil gods and now have become un pure. Whereas, Jainism views death as a welcome gateway to the next birth (McCarthy). When it comes down to what each religion does with the body, they are similar and different in this prospect. Jainism believes that upon death, a Jain s body is cremated and not buried. However, in the case of stillbirth, the child is buried (Salgia). This is where it gets kind of dicey with regards to burial, because neither religion particularly believes that you should bury a body. Instead of burying the corpse, Zoroastrians traditionally laid it out on a purpose built tower (dokhma or Tower of Silence ) to be exposed to the sun and eaten by birds of prey such as vultures (BBC). However, like Jainism, Zoroastrianism will opt for cremation (in preference to burial due to modern intervention) if they are unable to achieve traditional death rituals in both religions they seem to make sure no aspect (except perhaps bones) are reserved from the body. When it comes to how each of these religions think of the afterlife they differ greatly. While Zoroastrianism state that on the fourth day, the soul and its guardian fravashi ascend to Chinvat, the bridge of judgment (Beyer) essentially following the basis of ascension to find absolution. Jainism beliefs of the afterlife are more about the eternity it brings, there is no true afterlife as each soul is reborn based on behaviors of their past life. Similarly, the religions ...
