2. Edgar Allan Poe s Theme Of Poetry
Edgar Allan Poe was and still is known as one of the best poets/short story writer. He was also the
first well known writer to make a living off of his profession. All in all he was one of the best of his
time and still is considered the best. His poems and short stories were dark and gritty; he wasn t
really known for his feel good poems but ones that explored darkness. Some of his best poems were
The Valley of Unrest , The Raven , and Annabel Lee . These poems had themes of love, death,
and the supernatural. One of Poe s most sad poem was the The Valley of Unrest . This poem talks
about a village in which war has already broken out and is now empty because of it. Now each
visitor shall confess/ The sad valley s restlessness. (Poe 9 10).... Show more content on

In Annabel Lee Poe writes about a man who loves a woman... shocker. But this is a different type
of love poem. Annabel Lee was a woman that the man knew as a teenager. He loved her a lot and
she loved him a lot. Even though people were telling them that they had no idea what love was
because they were so young, they knew they were in love. Sadly she dies from what only can be
interpreted as a type of disease. He blames it on the angles and says that even the angles could
not keep their love separated. He then goes and lies next to her grave every night remembering
her. There isn t really a set rhyme scheme but he keeps coming back words that rhyme with lee. It
is most likely free verse since there isn t no set rhyme scheme. He also might be rhyming with
lee to emphasize his love for her. There is a lot of symbolism going on here but the most
important one are the angles. You would always think that angles are good and right, but Poe
paints them as bad dudes. The angels, not half so happy in Heaven,/ Went envying her and me
/Yes! that was the reason (as all men know, In this kingdom by the sea) / That the wind came out
of the cloud by night, / Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee. (Poe). Another symbole is Annabel
Lee herself. She represents love and passion. She seems like the perfect women that the man has
painted. Of the beautiful Annabel Lee (Poe). Some themes that were prevalent throughout the
poem was love, hate, and darkness. She loved Annabel so much and no one could tell him
otherwise. But our love it was stronger by far than the love (Poe). There love was so strong the
death couldn t even stop them and he lies with her at night next to her grave. A very prevalent
theme throughout the poem was hatred. He hated the angles and god for taking his beloved away
from him. Finally like in most of his poems there was supernatural. He brings in heaven and hell,
angels and demons which are all supernatural events. I

3. Essay about Violence, Corruption, and Wealth in American...
Today s society is no stranger to violence and corruption. We see it in our streets, on our
television and movie screens, and we hear it in music. However, a clearer connection is being
made between this corruption and wealth. Our culture is beginning to associate dishonesty and
criminal acts with money and material goods. Images of wealth and fame through murder and
mayhem are pounded into Americans heads through a the story lines of Mafia movies and the
lyrics of popular music idols. Producers are thriving on our two biggest cravings: money and
violence. In the novel The Great Gatsby, corruption is a main theme and is used as a gateway to
wealth and fame. As the plot unfolds, the main characters get caught in a tangled web of adulterous

Many rappers including the late quot;Notorious B.I.G quot; and quot;2Pac quot;, two very well
known rappers, made innumerable references to the use and sale of drugs, along with the profit to
be made, in their lyrics. In the song quot;Sky s the Limit quot;, the Notorious B.I.G raps about his
school days, being a young drug dealer, rapping quot;Buy a dime [of marijuana], smoke five, sell
the rest for 20/ a young nigga making far too much money/ I was the only 8th grader with a

quot;Redman quot; who is an open and proud marijuana smoker and promoter. In an interview in
quot;Source quot; Magazine, he stated quot;I spend about 18 20,000 dollars last year on
[marijuana] quot;. He makes many references to the drug in just about every song he is featured
in. While all this is going on, you can see these rappers sporting the newest clothes, the shiniest
diamonds and the fastest cars. Rappers, unlike other high paid professionals, have a reputation
for flaunting and bragging about their money. Music videos are the perfect stage to do this and
rappers take full advantage of the opportunity with $7,000,000 + videos containing cars, special
effects and in one video, a $200,000 platinum gold tank, believe it or not. The clear message here
is that power, wealth and stardom are accompanied by violence and corruption. These few
examples don t even begin to crack the surface, but

4. Comparing Bottlerack, Barnett Newman s Eve And Ana Mendieta
The three works that will be compared are Marcel Duchamp s Bottlerack, Barnett Newman s Eve
and Ana Mendieta s Silueta. Placed together the pieces show us three varying genres, each from
different periods in the twentieth century. Between the artists we also see obvious connections
in how they have challenged the spectator, and the art world alike, in viewing their art. All artists
removed something , be it a body in Silueta or the purpose of the Bottlerack and Eve s figurative
form or vanishing point. All were met with a critique of the processes in which their work were
produced and likewise they also received admiration for their forward thinking, progressive art.
There is a noticeable difference in the creative processes that have taken place to produce these
works. Duchamp, it could be argued, has taken the least time in producing or creating his
Bottlerack. After all, Duchamp was the inventor ...of the readymade... (Gaiger, 2003. p.63). Also
call an unassisted readymade where the artist has not interfered with or altered the object and we
are asked to appreciate the object, as it stands before us.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see the challenges they have faced in pushing the art world beyond the accepted and
experimenting with something new. The artists have offered us a new experience, one which asks
us to reflect upon their works. One that seeks us to return to our most basic thoughts, to being that
Man s hand tracing a stick through the mud to make a line... (Newman, 2002. p.574). To see art as a
means of communication through expressive forms that contradict, and challenge, our reactions to
what we see and hold as real in everyday life. To summarise, these artists have shown us the
innovative journey their art has taken through the twentieth century, giving us an opportunity to

6. Boeing s Product Is Planes Essay
Boeing s product is aircrafts. These aircrafts include commercial airplanes freight airplanes, and
Boeing Business Jets (BBJ). All of Boeing s aircrafts stem from their five jet families: 737, 747,
767, 777, 787 (Boeing, 2016). Each family differs in size, engine, build, range, and capacity in
order to meet the needs of all Boeingcustomers. The commercial section of Boeing aircraft
focuses on mass transit of passengers and has a jet from each of the five families offered
(Boeing, 2016). The commercial airplanes range from small 50 person planes that travel
between relatively close cities, to large 600 passenger planes that travel across the globe. The
freight section of Boeing aircraft focuses on planes capable of carrying goods to be delivered to
and from different areas or regions (Boeing, 2016). These freight versions of the Boeing aircraft
family do not come equipped with any of their commercial aircraft such as cabin seating,
overhead storage, lights, air vents, or any cabin service features. These are planes intended to
hold a very small crew and are basically hollowed out in order to store as much as possible.
Lastly, Boeing also offers a wide range of BBJs from each of its families of aircraft (Boeing,
2016). BBJs are much more luxurious than a commercial version of an airplane. They are intended
for business executives and to be used by companies or corporations. The BBJs come equipped
with couches, TVs, offices, larger restrooms, and other luxury features that

i.The responsibilities and risks of sport clubs
Any organization in any field has some rules and responsibilities to follow, sport organization is
one of them and they have many policies to save people s rights. We will mention the most
important duties and talk about them in details. 1.Safe society for the members
Dangers that are characteristic in a sport activity that happen in the ordinary course of a game
seldom give rise to a claim of an inattention. Be that as it may, dangers that are not characteristic in
the sport, that represent an unreasonable danger of threat, that emerge out of a ponder disregard for
the guidelines of the sport and that can generally be anticipated might be the premise of
carelessness, and are correctly the dangers that should be overseen. Carelessness and obligation are

yearly, which may affect the progress of the clubs. Secondly, which is one of the most popular
problem is the financial statement. Many clubs bankrupted due to a financial crisis, and there are
many other reasons that caused them to be in a financial crisis. Furthermore, the member services

8. The Grateful Dead And LSD In The 1970 s
The late 1960 s and early 1970 s was a time of intense political change and shifting worldviews,
especially in the Bay Area. Particularly, the summer of 1967, nicknamed the Summer of Love, had
widespread political impacts, even though that was not the intention for some participants. With the
emergence of LSD and new optimistic, loving mindsets, hippie culture shaped peoples actions in
regards to prominent issues in the years following, such as the Vietnam War and the War on Drugs.
This paper will explore how the Grateful Dead influenced and adapted ideas from this time period.

As more people encountered the Grateful Dead and the Acid Tests, more people wanted to join
in on the group mind, thus growing the use of LSD. The Grateful Dead were not famous when
they began playing the Acid Tests, but as LSD and the Acid Tests grew in popularity, the band s
own popularity grew with them. The members of the band itself had not used psychedelics
(other than marijuana) before they started playing at the Acid Tests, but they quickly became
immersed in the culture thanks to those around them. Owsley Stanley, a Grateful Dead
soundman and underground chemist, would synthesize his own LSD to give out free samples
outside of Grateful Dead concerts so no one felt left out of the experience (Gitlin). Pairing LSD
with music was all anyone ever knew because of the Acid Tests and made the experience what it
was. Michael J. Kramer describes the culture surrounding the Grateful Dead in his book The
Republic of Rock as, a way for strangers to establish bonds of affiliation and connection through
risk taking particularly through drug use and electronically generated chaos (Kramer 35). The
Acid Tests reflected a popular opposition to the mainstream. LSD was marketed as a daring,
exciting substance and more people became eager to try it, especially alongside the Grateful
Dead. This direct pairing of the band with drugs through the Acid Tests is the first way that the
Grateful Dead directly influenced the proliferation of LSD and continued to do so even as political
views began to be associated with the

9. Personal Reflection Paper
My son, Ricky is now six years old and he has undergone many milestones and changes to be who
he is today. All throughout Ricky s life I have worked on his intelligence, morals, and social
skills so he can become a valuable member of society. In regards to Ricky s intelligence, I have
worked on his ability to read and his sleep habits which correlate with his intelligence. In regards
to Ricky s morals, I have stressed the value of honesty and treating others kindly. Lastly, Ricky is
practicing sociodramatic play and participating in recreational activities to gain social skills.
When Ricky was born I vowed to improve his intelligence. This is now increasingly important
since Ricky is in school. I have been advancing Ricky s intelligence through practicing private
speech. Since kindergarten, Ricky has been having difficulty with phonological awareness and
reading. Even in the first grade, Ricky is unable to read independently, however, his teacher is
not concerned. I, on the contrary, am concerned, so I made the choice for Ricky to receive
tutoring twice a week. While receiving assistance in reading and writing, I have emphasized to
the tutor how I wish for them to praise and practice private speech with Ricky. Private speech is
when the child speaks to themselves when completing a task, reading a passage, and more. Ricky
can practice this tactic with his tutor through reading out loud, stating all the steps necessary to
complete the activity and more verbal actions. My choice for Ricky practicing private speech is
because Berk and Meyers state, Childrenwho freely use private speech during a challenging
activity are more attentive and involved and show better task performance (323). Ricky s
increased engaged attitude and attentiveness will allow him to perform better, therefore
improving his reading skills. When I was around Ricky s age, I was diagnosed as dyslexic and I
fear that he will have this learning disability. I, too, was unable to read independently in the first
grade, however, my choice for Ricky to practice private speech will assist in his academic
performance. However, I am embracing the influence of nature for Ricky, because with early
detection and actions plasticity,

insider information that rarely is reported in the property comps.
3. Can you sell like Modesto realtors?
Selling a home happens in multiple steps and each phase needs to complete the process before
moving on to the next. As FSBO, you have to compile the findings of the market, preform an
assessment of your home according the market s profile before you can even list the home.
Granted it may only take a few days to do the first few steps by hiring a lawyer. The next steps for
marketing, staging and showing the home will need to be executed smoothly for the sale to close

Modesto realtors are one step ahead of you and they are your competition. They are well informed
on the existing real estate market and know what s happening in your neighborhood to prevent any
mishaps that may affect deals currently in process. Sometimes the changes are simple to fix and
other times they can halt the sale sending the buyer to purchase another home on the market.

About two years ago I read Ayaan Hirsi Ali s memoir Infidel and was immensely moved by her
story, especially the atrocities she went through in her childhood in Africa and the way she
struggled to flee from an oppressive life. At that time, I could not imagine that anyone (except
fanatic Muslims), let alone victims of the same oppression that she was, would not share her
feelings and views. However, the reading of Ian Buruma s Murder in Amsterdam sheds light on
bigger and obscure components of this story, which clearly influenced some people to disapprove
her behavior even Islamic women. Like in Hirsi Ali s story, Ian Buruma also identifies nuances in

19). The shadow of World War II fueled the endeavor to put up a political system of tolerance
and well fare in which welcoming the diversity of races and cultures seems to serve as a
justification for the shameful past. Never again, said the well meaning defenders of the

being part of this story and having his own family suffered from to the Nazi occupation, Van

Muslims also his victims . By calling himself the village idiot , Van Gogh thought he could say

violence he so fiercely abhorred, after directing the film Submission. As a child, he was eccentric,

of the Enlightment. Maybe that was one of the reasons why he always contested whatever and
everything that was incongruent to secular values. To shake things up was Van Gogh s aim in life ,

Starting in the year 399 B.C.E., The Macedonian kingdom fell into anarchy for a forty year span.
Macedon was about to fall and disintegrate until King Philip II rose to power and transformed the
Macedonian Kingdom.1 Little did Philip know at the time that Macedonia would become a
powerful and successful kingdom. The Macedonian Kingdom worked for many great
achievements. The Macedonians spread Hellenistic culture throughout most of the West. Lead by
Alexander, the Macedonians also had great expansion. They also made landmarks in science and
mathematics. The Hellenistic world s greatest achievements were the spreading of their
knowledge to the areas they conquered and the Macedonian expansion. First of all, to spread
knowledge and culture, the kingdom must be able to expand and conquer. Alexander and the
Macedonians were great at conquering and expanding. Alexander s great expansion is an
Hellenistic achievement in itself. After King Philip was assassinated by his wife, Alexander came
to great power.1 The first mission Alexander embarked on as the new king was an invasion of the
military powerhouse Persia. Alexander and the Macedonians won his first battle against the

Imagine being in a room with 10 people talking to you. Would you be able to understand the
conversations? It would be hard to concentrate on any one person s conversation, but you could
probably do it. Now, imagine being at the Superdome with 70,000 people talking to you. Would
you be able to understand any of the conversations? You probably could not understand any one
person for a length of time, but again you might pick out some of the words. Well, what if the
scenario was 7 billion people speaking 6 thousand languages at an auctioneer s pace on the topic
of their personal family lineage; would you be able to create someone s whole family tree? This
is the type of scenario that represents the different facets of Big Data. What does it mean to say
big data ? Big Data is more than just massive amounts of data stored together. It is more than just
data delivered or analyzed fast. Meta Group s Doug Laney described it as data that has volume,
velocity, and variety (2001). This is the 3 V s of Big Data and is widely used to define it.
Additions to this definition include other V s, such as veracity and value (XXX). What is volume?
Volume could be 7 billion people speaking at once. It can be the data created by millions of

15. Movie Theater Experience
Experiencing Film in Theaters Watching movies is probably one of my favorite activities, it
does not matter if the movie good or bad; I just want to watch them. I loved going to the theaters
as a kid because the entire experience was always so exciting, especially since it was the first thing
my mother let me do out on my own. Going to the movies had always been a blessing but as I
have grown I have made an effort to go less often. While the experience is still the same I just
notice just how bad the overall experience can be as well.
Honestly, the best part of watching a movie in theaters is the movie theater experience; for example
the seats, the popcorn, the large screen, the sound system, the people, and the new releases. It is not
just you in your room watching a movie, it is you reacting to the film and to the people around you
around you as well, all the while getting all these over the top elements as well. Movie going takes
a common experience and amplifies it so it feels like you re getting something even greater.
Plus, my favorite part for any film has always been the trailers; the exciting bits and pieces of
coming films thrown together to entice future visits. With fast paced action and cliffhanging
details that are thrown in the 2 3 minute time frame, I am left wanting to come back and see that
movie when it comes out. It is how they reel me in and keep me coming back in regular intervals.
I have also gotten really into staying for the credits as well

16. A Brief Note On Plagiarism And Academic Theft
Citing is mainly used to avoid plagiarism, but a writer should always cite sources in an essay and
in presentations because they need to acknowledge the use of other people s work . (McMillan,
2010: 192) Citing a source is important as it helps a reader to understand how [an] argument was
assembled and what influenced [the writers] thinking (McMillan, 2010: 192) which helps a
reader to form an opinion on the work. (McMillan, 2010: 192) Citing demonstrates the writer s
knowledge of relevant sources and their capability to be selective in the materials chosen; then
incorporate this with the knowledge and information already obtained from lectures and seminars,
expanding on ideas and improving the argument. (Barrass, 2005: 132) Plus it helps the reader to
assess the extent of the writer s wider reading, which can also help when giving feedback and
advice. (McMillan, 2010: 192)
Plagiarism is academic theft, it is extremely important to avoid plagiarism not only for academic
purposes but also for legal reasons. It is when someone uses someone else s ideas and written work
within their own written work and without citing them, therefore claiming them as their own ideas.
Kirton (2007) states that providing evidence is an important dimension of academic writing , so
when quotations and citations are not used a writer is plagiarizing someone else s intellectual
property . (Kirton, 2007: 155)
Plagiarism does not necessarily mean stealing word for word what someone else has said,

A son of Philip II of Macedonia and the princess of Epirus Olympias, Alexander the Great ruled
from 336 to 323 B.C.E., and during these 13 years of leadership, he conquered a territory bigger
than the Roman Empire. It stretched from the Ionian Sea to the Himalayas, but it was torn apart
right after his death. Alexander, considering himself a god like figure, was an inspiration for later
conquerors such as Hannibal, Caesar, and Napoleon.
Early life While Alexander lived in his palace in Pela, his father was fighting off the power of
Macedonia. The future king was a skilled equestrian, taming a stallion horse named Bucephalus,
which nobody could tame. Plutarch wrote: Philip and his friends looked on at first in silence and

20. Kauki Tribe Analysis
Every year at the Kauki tribe s Christmas feast, the druids present all of the Kauki youth at the age
of seventeen a gift that they think represents them individually. Today is the day that I will receive
my gift. Kelby, get your things! It is time to head to the mead hall for the feast! yelled my mother.
She seemed to be more anxious about my giftthan I was. Probably because the gift that you
receive at the feast is how the Druids predict your future based on your past. It will determine
who you will marry, what you will do professionally, and how you will rank in the Kauki social
class. I guess the gift is kind of a bigger deal than I act like it is. I m not too worried about it
because I haven t really done anything too horrible in my lifetime. Other than almost killing my

21. Lysistrat Comedy Of The Same Name And Spike Lee
The character of Lysistrata in both Aristophanes comedy of the same name and Spike Lee s 2015
film Chi Raq is a uniquely powerful female character who, through sheer willpower and
intelligence, forges peace between two diametrically opposed forces that have devastated their
respective communities. Both stories offer an interesting journey of seeking peace in the midst of
desperation. Aristophaneswrites of a woman trying to bring an end to the destructive Peloponnesian
Warbetween Athens and Sparta while Lee s version of Lysistrataaims to bring peace between two
gangs whose fights routinely spill into Chicago s streets, killing many innocent people in the
crossfire. In fact, despite the radical difference in setting, both versions of the story share a
numerous amount of similarities in terms of plot and theme. However, I will argue that Spike
Lee s tale is, like Aristophanes , trying to instill a message about the need for peace, but also
telling a story of self development with regard to Lysistrata herself. The Ancient Greek version
of Lysistrata was nearly mythic, commanding the respect of her peers almost without question.
By contrast, modern day Chicago Lysistrata has to grow into the role of leader, gradually waking
up to the severity of the chaos of her home then making the effort to push for accord. Making this
version of the heroine more human allows Spike Lee to create a model for ordinary people in this
era to take charge and put an end to senseless suffering in

22. The Liberal World Order Essay examples
The Liberal World Order
The liberal world order is as much an economic idea, as it is a political one. The liberal world order
is very much based on the rule of law. Such things are apparent in a liberal world order such as
individual liberties, private property and free trade.
According to Ludwig von Mises, a liberal world order was inseparable from liberal economic
policies:
A nation s policy forms an integral whole. Foreign policy and domestic policy are closely linked
together, they condition each other. Economic nationalism is the corollary of the present day
domestic policies of government interference with business and of national planning, as free trade
was the complement of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first of these stated by Mises was a free market for labour, in other words, the level of wages
and conditions should be set by the employers, after negotiation with the employees, rather than
being controlled by the government.
The second economic constraint set out by Mises was that there should be a market economy,
whereby the forces in the market should be left to work freely, that supply and demand should be
left to determine price rather than the government regulating this.
Thirdly, free trade is seen as an essential aspect of a liberal world order, he stated that it must be
free to import and export between countries, with out control by governments.
Finally, there must be a free market monetary system in place, in that the government must not
control either the value or the flow of money in the economy
Mises also argued that, if a country s domestic economic activity was to be fully privatised, this
would mean that the economic activity in that country would effectively be free from political
influences, as it would not be the government controlling it.
He argued that the way to attain peace and prosperity was not by governing and controlling, but
rather by limiting the level of governance, and that society would naturally sort itself out.
This idea was also agreed by Ricardo:

23. The Learning Theories And Our Lives
The Learning Theories and Our Lives We start our lives and we immediately start to develop into
the person we become today. Obviously most of us would not start by learning calculus at two
years old, or care about what grades we are getting in first grade, but the process of learning starts
right away. This learningprocesses plays a significant role in developing us. There are three main
learning theories we look at. Observational, Classical Conditioning, and Operant Conditioning.
Observational learning occurs through observing the behaviors of others. This includes things
like memorizing and reproducing things that someone showed you or you saw done. Classical
Conditioning is when things happen multiple times and you learn a response to this. For
example, the first time you spoke out in class in elementary school, you were not conditioned yet
not to. The response to this might be being told to be quiet or a time out. You then are
conditioned that if you talk, you will get in trouble. Then you have Operant Conditioning, which
is behaviors that are associated with a consequence. An example to this is doing well in a swim
competition becomes associated with an award. When you start your life you start learning by
observing what you parents do. When you are young learning is done primarily from observing
what goes on around you. At this point in your life you are not developed enough to understand
consequences; or a least not to an advanced level. You observe what your

24. Behaviorism, Constructivism, And Cognitivism
A. Behaviorism, Constructivism, and Cognitivism
There are three approaches to learning that I will discuss in this section they are behaviorism,
constructivism, and cognitivism. Behaviorism is a learning theory based on the idea that any
behavior can be learned through conditioning as long as the conditioning is done the right way.
There are two types of conditioning. The first type is classic conditioning. This type of conditioning
is where a subject is provided a stimuli and based off of the stimuli the subject learns a specific
behavior which in turn becomes the conditioned response to the stimuli. The second type of
conditioning is operant conditioning which is reinforcement and punishment. This type of
conditioning requires a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are four stages of cognitivism. The first stage is from ages birth to two years old, one
discovers the world through their senses. The second stage is from two to seven, one develops
language and skills and their main focus is on self. The third stage is from ages seven to twelve,
one starts to see the world and how it relates to others not just themselves. One also starts
developing the ability to think logically and critically which allows one to see things and interpret
things how they really are. The fourth stage is from year twelve throughout the rest of one s life. In
the fourth stage one develops cognitively logical and abstract thinking, which allows one to analyze
things logically and draw logical conclusions in an abstract way.
A1. Support
There are several examples I could provide for each of the three learning theories discussed in the
above section. The first example is in support of the behaviorism learning theory. At the beginning
of each school year, I establish procedures with all of my classes. This creates an optimal learning
environment for all students to allow for the greatest amount of success. Each student is then
conditioned to follow each of the established procedures the same way through practicing over and
over again with a reward, if students carryout the procedure correctly. If the students do not follow
the procedures correctly, there is a

26. Eating Disorders As A Female Disorder
ABSTRACT
Eating disorders are one of the most prevalent mental disorders in the United States. Although this
disease is typically viewed as a female disorder, males are greatly affected and may go
undiagnosed and untreated due to the attached stigma. Thus, it is important to understand the risk
factors associated with the development of eating disorders in males. These risk factors include:
athletic involvement, sexual orientation, pre morbid obesity, and adverse childhood experiences.
Eating disorder type and symptom presentation also varies between males and females. Males
typically do not meet the criteria to be categorized as Anorexia Nervosa or Bulimia Nervosa,
causing their condition to be classified as Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. Symptom
presentation is likely to include binge eating and excessive exercise rather than restrictive eating,
purging, or other compensatory methods commonly seen in the female population. Several eating
disorder assessments are available for use in clinical practice, most of which have been geared
toward the female gender. New assessments, such as the Eating Disorder Assessment for Males,
have been developed recently to try to hone in on the typical male symptomatology and their
psychological processes. Prompt treatment of eating disorders, regardless of gender, is necessary to
prevent the development of medical and psychological comorbidities. This process cannot begin
until the diagnosis has been made; therefore, additional

31. European Fascination With The Acquisition And Exploitation
European fascination with the acquisition and exploitation of territory began centuries before King
Leopold II of Belgium s birth. The Portuguese were among the first Europeans to explore and settle
territories in Africa in the 15th century, arriving in the Congo in 1482 (Hochschild, p. 7). The
newly arrived Europeans built missions, and began to take part in the slave trade that was already
established in the region. Although African rulers took part in the slave trade, the scale of it was
not as large and systematic as the one that European involvement quickly developed it into.
Methods similar to those applied in the Congo during the reign of King Afonso became common

Being a king of a small country with no public interest in colonies...a colonial push of his own
would require a strong humanitarian veneer (Hochschild, p. 42). In order for civilized western
countries to allow for Leopold to conquer territory in Africa, he would have to do it in the name of
philanthropy. In the 19th century, Christian ideals such as moral empire the religious duty to bring
modern civilization to undeveloped countries were popular among the general public (Hochschild,
p.213). Knowing this, Leopold decided that he would use curbing the slave trade, moral uplift, and
the advancement of science in his pitch to colonize Africa; not profits (Hochschild, p. 42). Leopold
held a Geographical Conference in Brussels in 1876 to discuss bringing civilization to Africa, using
the guise of a humanitarian effort to hide his true intentions. The outcome of the conference was the
creation of the International African Association, of which he was elected chairman. This was the
first of a series of seemingly altruistic ventures that allowed for Leopold to claim territory in Africa,
and in the decades after that first achievement Leopold engaged in many other faux philanthropic
pursuits. Leopold utilized well positioned political allies to imply that he was building
infrastructure in the Congo, gave interviews discussing his Christian duty to help the native
peoples, financed his operations by selling bonds under the pretext of assisting Africans, and

32. The Anatomy Of The Knee Injuries
Shianne Rey
Complete Tear of the ACL A torn ACL is one of the most serious and common knee injuries. Many
aspects play a role in the treatment and rehabilitation of this injury. This paper will discuss the
anatomy of the knee, describe a torn ACL, and the rehabilitation. The knee is a hinge joint which
gives the legs mobility. The muscles and ligaments of this joint allows flexion and extension of the
leg. Because the knee supports the majority of the body weight, it is at risk of overuse and
traumatic injuries (France). The knee is composed of 3 major bones; the femur, tibia, and the
fibula. The femur is the biggest bone in the human body, the inferior end flares out into two
rounded landmarks called femoral condyles. Their name comes from the side of the body they
are on, which is where we get Lateral Femoral Condyle and Media Femoral Condyle. Superiorly
to these condlyes are the medial and lateral femoral epicondyles. The bones inferior to the femur
are the Tibia and Fibula. The superior end of the Tibia flares out into slightly concave structures
called the Tibial Plateaus. A crescent wedge shape of cartilage sits in each plateau. These are the
Medial Meniscus and the Lateral Meniscus. This cartilage acts as a shock absorber and distributes
forces. The menisci are bathed by the synovial fluid of the knee (France). The meniscus is what
separates the each side of the Tibia and Femur and the transverse ligament connects each menisci.

America Must Invest in Energy Efficiency
In recent years our country has had many debates over what must be done to lessen the amount of
oil that our country consumes. It is well known that we need to make some type of change to help
not only the environment, but also lessen our reliance on imported oil. President Bush recently
announced his new plan that could someday greatly reduce that amount of oil that Americans use
by replacing oil with hydrogen fuel cells. Although this plan is a step in the right direction, it is not
the answer. There are far too many downsides that could actually hurt our country in the long run.
One problem is that the plan proposed by Bush will take far too long before any changes will be

. If cars were required to run on 55 miles per gallon, the U.S. would save about five million
barrels per day. This alone is about seven times the amount of oil that was imported from Iraq
alone last year (Kennedy 11). All major auto companies can already make cars that run on
seventy miles per gallon; meaning that Clinton s goal was nearly reached. However, because
funding is being cut by the new plan, these cars will most likely never be available in the large
market. We do need to someday totally end our reliance on oil, especially in cars, but why stop
funding a plan that would have an immediate effect? Money is simply being wasted due to the
fact that millions of dollars were spent on a plan that is being ended because funding is suddenly
being spent on new areas of research. We need to continue funding Clinton s plan even if we do
start more research in hydrogen fuel cells.
A second major problem with the plan is not easy to see at first. You must look much closer at
what types of research is being done. There are two ways that hydrogen fuel cells can be made.
One is by a reaction with oxygen. These cells are about 70% efficient and the only emissions are
water vapor. The second way it by using oil or coal to make the cells. These cells are about 33%

35. Modern Philosophy Of The Modern World And The External World
Lauren Estes
Modern Philosophy
Prof. Corsa As humans, I do not think we know as much as we think we know. Perhaps this is the
reason why in matters of Philosophical research some claim to have discovered the truth, while
others declare that finding it is an impossibility, and other are still seeking it (SE Handout 31). The
word truth in this quote is ambiguous. I believe that we will spend the rest of eternity seeking the
truth. The truth can mean many things to many different people. What is true for you may not be
true for me. Many of the modern philosophers dance around the question, What is real and what is
not? Although there are many arguments for and against the internal world and the external world,
I tend to lead towards the skeptics point of view. I do this on the simple notion that many of the
skeptics arguments are hard to refute. Much like Sextus Empiricus, I argue that we cannot know
anything with absolute certainty about the external world. Those who say that Sceptic deny
appearances seem to me to be ignorant of what we say (SE Handout 38). Sextus Empricus does not
deny appearances, he just is aware that we might not know for certain anything about the external
world. Sextus Empiricus infers, honey appears to use to have a sweetening quality. This much we
can concede, because it affects us with a sensation of sweetness. The question, however, is whether
it is sweet in an absolute sense (SE Handout 38). Skeptics are not crazy humans that simply

kids who enjoy the thoughts and fantasy of being great space captains and saving the galaxy.
Now if we imagine both time and space being physical things, thing that could be changed, or
bent, to our will, we will get the basis of the idea we are trying to present. Spaceis already viewed as
physical, as space doesn t necessarily mean the Final Frontier but as the area around us and all
that it contains, but we don t have the capability of being able to alter it in any great way, only use
it has it was given to us. Timeis seen not as a thing at all, but a perception of the world, or space,

Now bend that paper in half so those two points are right on top of each other and imagine (since
you can t draw this one) the line representing the new shortest distance. Now consider, if you will,
being able to do with actual space itself. Bending the entire universe, and this time I mean
physically bending it to be able to change the shortest distance to such a distance that it s like
being able to take a step there, but since physically bending it is even weirder, we re
metaphysically bending it by sending broken up particles to another point where they will be
reconstructed into the item originally broken up. One could even argue that in this process the
original is copied and destroyed and an entirely new one walks away, or if it isn t a live thing, a
new one is obtained, but in such perfect detail to the original, or if this isn t its first time it s
gone, a perfect copy of another perfect copy, meaning that there would be no complications
caused by moving a copy. But we re humans, and once this technology is real, it is my own
personal belief that this won t be a perfect process. So space is a physical thing that can be
represented by say, a piece of paper, and then that piece of paper can be physically bent to describe
the physical to metaphysical relationship to how it works when someone would bend it to make the
shortest distance between the two points event shorter. Now we can discuss how time works, which

being unemployed in a matter of months. At this time President Herbert Hoover was promoting the
idea that the economy was only experiencing the recessionary part of the cyclical business cycle
and therefore refused to offer any kind of relief to unemployed families, insisting that the
economy would self correct soon enough due to the business cycle. But by the time of the
presidential election in 1932 the economy had shown no visible improvement, and Hoover lost
the election to Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Once elected, Roosevelt launched his various New
Deal programs all with the purposes of relief, recovery, and reform. The New Deal programs
were very successful, until 1937 when the economy crashed once again. The book ends with the
oncoming threat of World War II and the day that England and France declare war on Germany.
Allen s perspective on 1939 is that there was not one great depression, but a series of up and
downhill succession of crises . Between the years 1929 and 1933

Archaeology has proved the historicity of the Trojan War. Discuss
В… he [Heinrich Schliemann] found layers of ruins В… and two bore unmistakable signs of
violent destruction. One of these layers, the seventh according to more recent excavators, was no
doubt the city of Priam and Hector. The historicity of the Homeric tale had been demonstrated
archaeologically. M.I. Finley, the World of Odysseus
Introduction
The Trojan Warand its characters are detailed in the writings of Homer, Vergil, Dante and many
others. It is a fantastical tale of a decade long siege of a powerful city by a massive pan hellenic
force. However, even though it has proved to be such a rich source of inspiration for writers, poets
and artists throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These incidents of divine intervention were added in order to add further drama and emphasise the
scale of the struggle for victory.
I personally think that Heroditus version of the Trojan War is the closest to the truth. When he was
writing his Histories he had access to sources we did not, like the priests he mentioned in the above
quotation. His version of events, though it may not be completely accurate, is highly feasible and
fits with our existing knowledge of the Mycenaean period.
Archaeological evidence
If Homer s writings are central to our understanding of the Trojan War, so are Heinrich Schliemann
s digs. His name is synonymous with Troy. Fascinated with Homer, he made it his mission to
discover Troy, and eventually did. However, his problems with convincing his fellow academics
and archaeologists that he had indeed Troy is similar to the problem we have with defining what
the Trojan War actually is. Homer s Trojan War could not have possibly happened as it is laid out
in the Iliad and the Odyssey. There are jarring incongruities between what happens in his epics, and
what happened in that period of Greek history.
In like manner, if Apollo vouchsafe me glory and I slay your champion, I will strip him of his
armour and take it to the city of Ilius, where I will hang it in the temple of Apollo, but I will give
up his body, that the Achaeans may bury him at their ships, and the build him a mound by the wide
waters of

As a core value of this organization, continuous process improvement is a leadership
responsibility at every level in NAVAIR. That s why, in the CPI track, participants will work side
by side with master black belts on high profile projects our senior leaders choose and fully support.
Along the way, you ll earn your own black belt certification. For leading and managing complex
teams, the NLDP s Management Leadership track focuses on executive core qualifications (ECQs)
and extended rotational assignments, as well as Project Sponsor or Green Belt training.
Each program has both CPI and leadership training components. Participants are committed to
learning a broad range of leadership, management, and productivity improvement skills. Both
tracks share common Leadership Development courses. Both program components also require
41. each person to have a formal mentor to offer career advice and guidance along the way. This
program does not guarantee promotions, awards, or bonuses. (Commander Naval Air Systems
Command, 2009) The Management Leadership Track takes three to five years to complete (part
time). The Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) Leadership Track takes two to three years to

42. Spirit Of Offense
Do you walk in the spirit of offense?
The truth is, all of us at one time or another, have either been offended or offended someone.
And the good news is, we all have the opportunity to SHIELD UP!
How Do I know if I have the spirit of offense?
Before we get into what it means to Shield Up, let s first identify if we have the spirit of offense.
Even though we are told in James 1:19 to be slow to take offense, we have seen relationships
destroyed and people leave their church family over the spirit of offense. (Block Quote)
Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow
to speak, slow to take offense and to get angry. ~ James 1:19 (AMPC)
So how can we tell if we walk in the spirit of offense? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Submission is meant for every believer. As Godexpects us to submit to Him, to each other, to our
spouses, employers, and our government!
Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient,
always ready to do what is good. ~ Titus 3:1(NLT)
The slippery slope here is that without submission, we can almost guarantee that we will walk in
the spirit of offense.
That s because to be discipled is to be mentored. To be mentored is to be held accountable.
However, you cannot be discipled without being teachable. You cannot be mentored without
yielding to submission. And you cannot receive accountability without humility.
In other words, when you walk in humility you will avoid walking in the spirit of offense!

Hurting the Already Wounded

so important to get to the root of our wounds.
But, what happens when you offend someone who hasn t dealt with the root of their
