Essay On 60 Minute Overtime
After reviewing two shows broadcasted on television (NBC News and a television series called 60
Minute Overtime), a newspaper article from Daily News, and two articles online that focus on the
Challengers story, I believe the shows broadcasted on television are the most reliable. The newspaper
article was very reliable especially since it was published the day after the explosion. It had a lot of the
emotions felt during that time period. Unfortunately, the newspaper was not able to provide a definite
answer as to why the crash was caused because the cause was not for sure then. This Day in History:
Challenger Space Shuttle Explosion Kills Seven is a reliable article that provides just enough
information to understand the story, but not the resolution. Anyone ... Show more content on

Both articles are reliable but do not help the readers understand how much this affected America. The
two shows broadcasted on television proved to be the most reliable. The National Broadcasting
Company is a news corporation, and on the day of the Challenger they aired it live. As a lot of
America was watching live, so was the news reporter (Kent Shocknek) and the voice of the launch
control (Hugh Harris). Both of their reactions were how they reacted live. The viewers then and now
see the crisis happen with their own eyes and can feel the emotion that was felt. NBC is one of the
most reliable sources because it only gave facts, and it came from the day of the Challenger mission.
60 Minute Overtime is a television show that focused an episode on the Challenger mission. This
episode brought people that were very close to this mission. For example Christa McAuliffe s mom.
The people brought in were interviewed about the subject. This episode was a whole sixty minutes
focusing on facts and emotions about the Challenger. This is very reliable because not only do the
listeners learn about what happened that day, but they can hear about the emotions felt and the
opinions of the ones

My Minus Equilibrium Treatment
Discussion
There was a severe effect of my minus calcium treatment the lack of calcium was detrimental to my
plants health and caused them all to die. With my visual observations of my sunflower seedlings
completely drying up and dying, the negative growth rate per day of my plants (along with the rest of
the minus calcium treatments in the class having a significantly lower average growth rate when
compared to the control plants in the class), and the huge difference in average water use between the
minus calcium treatment plants in the class when compared to the control plants in class, it is clear
that the effect was severe. I believe that I observed the growth effects that I did because low levels of
calcium cause poor root development ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the root development was poor, the plants were unable to take in water causing dryness and
ultimately death. Without water being transported through the plant, photosynthesis and growth could
not occur, and although the plants tried to conserve as much water as possible (through closing their
stomata), since they recognized they were not able to take in any more because of their roots they
could not sustain themselves. I believe that calcium was immobile in the plant the effects of not
having it were so harsh and immediate that I believe there was none present. The fact that the minus
calcium treatment plants couldn t take up water through their roots, which, as I stated before, is
directly related to calcium deficiency, only further supports the notion that it was immobile in the
plant. Visual symptoms that could be helpful in diagnosing calcium deficiency in sunflowers are dry
and brown leaves but this diagnosis would have to occur pretty quickly since it had such severe

How Does Lynda Barry Create Identity In One Hundred ! Demons
Lynda Barry s One! Hundred! Demons! is a graphic memoir of Barry s personal life in which she
illustrates the different kinds of demons she encountered while growing up. These demons caused her
question if she really had true friends that made her feel welcomed and loved. Specifically, in the
chapter The Visitor, Barry demonstrates the idea of social belonging as she s trying to fill in the
emotional void to fully feel herself again. Looking closely through the subject to subject panels, we
begin to notice her emotions and mood change through her iconic face features. Her illustrations are
more abstract and simplified so we as readers can understand and relate to where she s coming from.
She illustrates her eyes very small and almost squinting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although she used to be outgoing beforehand, we begin to notice that her lack of compassion from her
social lifestyle has altered her growth and in terms, notice Barry s sudden change of face features.
Through the artistic details of her appearance, we notice how she changes when receiving affection as
well as how she handles it. When she is pressured to take drugs from Dean, she takes them and her
face features change. She only does it because of the feelings she has for dean as she consistently
shares this idea through symbols. Whenever she s with Dean, her eyes, face color always change. But
in many cases, she shares a heart symbol so the audience becomes aware of how she feels. As she
takes drugs for the first time, she s at first nervous since this something new and unusual for her to try.
She actually begins to sweat which shows signs of nerves and fear of not fitting in of where she thinks
she belongs. Considering her desperation to have a social companion, she ends up taking the drugs
despite the consequences. In the moment, she s in ultimate awe as her mouth is always open from
fascination and

Comparing The Plot Scenes In Hamlet And Gregory Doran s...
William Shakespeare s Hamlet has been portrayed several times during the past centuries but what
distinguishes each piece of work is how the directors approached the play. Hamlet without doubt is a
troubled man overcome with the death of his father and the discovery that us uncle now step father
murdered his late father, the king of Denmark. Kenneth Branagh s and Gregory Doran s portrayals of
the famous closet scene demonstrates two extremes of Hamlet s relationship with his mother Gertrude.
Branagh s version of the closet scene uses bright pastel colours such as blue, pink and red to show
happiness and innocence. The use of light blue hints the youth of a child as it is often associated with
the birth of boys in today s society. The only exception is Hamlet, as he is dressed all in black. His
black clothing is not only used as a way to signify Hamlet s mourning of his father but also as a way
to represent how Hamlet himself is corrupt. This contrasts with Gertrude s appearance who is dressed
neatly in golden. Gold which symbolizes wealth and power is used to describe Gertrude s position of
power in the kingdom. Additionally, the golden dress represents purity and demonstrates how
Gertrude is oblivious to the corruption taking place in her kingdom.
On the other hand, Doran s version uses much darker tones such as dark blues, silvers and golds. The
use of silver and gold demonstrates the wealth and power the royal family has over themselves and
society while the dark blue

The Passionate Shepherd to His Love and The Nymph’s Reply...
The Passionate Shepherd to His Love and The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd: A comparison The
Passionate Shepherd to His Love was written by Christopher Marlowe. The poem describes a
shepherd s plea to someone he loves urging them to live with him. Marlowe uses imagery to describe
the scenery around the shepherd and his love. The shepherd tries to convince her how happy they will
be, surrounded by mountain yields and groves in stanza one. Marlowe does not only use imagery in
his poem but he also describes the aroma And a thousand fragrant posies. He creates a tranquil
atmosphere by describing the harmonious sound in the second and third stanzas. Melodious birds sing
madrigals. In the third stanza the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first stanza she says that if everything that the shepherd had said to her was true she would live
with him and be his love. However she tries to bring him to his senses and make him realize that
things do change and nothing is permanent. The flowers do fade and wanton fields To wayward
Winter reckoning yields. In the quotation above she is expressing the idea that when winter comes the
flowers will no longer be in their full bloom. Again in the fourth stanza the nymph tells the shepherd
that beds of roses and posies will not last in winter. Sir Walter Ralegh uses the nymph to make the
point that spring changes to autumn as youth changes to old age and because of this she will not live
with the shepherd. This conveys the impermanence of nature and by implication the impermanence of
love. In comparison with the shepherd s description it is a more brutal but realistic portrayal of love.
The Passionate Shepherd to His Love is an idealistic poem with fairytale images of country life whilst
Sir Walter Ralegh s poem parodies the style of a love letter. The poems are similar in that they are
connected by a question and answer form. Both poems have similar structures as they both have six
stanzas and rhyming couplets. The rhyming couplets stress the last word of the sentence drawing
attention to them helping the reader to understand the poem.

Dear Editor, Your article pertaining to the crimes against the older population was thorough and well
delivered. The elderly population is indeed becoming victimized on a larger scale than has been seen
in the past. This increase is a result of the growing number of seniors living in society with little
protection. Perhaps the most compelling part of your article was that of your question Who is
responsible for protecting these individuals? You pose quite a thought and emotion invoking question
and one which I could not help but share ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a family member is suspected of being the perpetrator of abuse, neglect, or exploitation they should
in fact not be involved in the seniors life but otherwise there should be a common sense rule that we
look out for our family members. Too often seniors refuse to report abuse, neglect, or crime against
them out of fear of losing independence. It is a common misconception that being victimized will
deem you unfit to live independently and will result in being placed in a facility of some sort. It is
important that seniors feel they can turn to those around them with concerns and incidents that occur.
In the event that a senior is not forthcoming with information there are a number of avenues that may
involve reporting of suspected incidents. Hospitals, doctors, community service organizations, and
long term care facilities can report suspected crimes to authorities or Department of Social Services in
an effort to protect the individual. If a senior cannot properly protect themselves then health care
professionals from all areas should have the ability to act on behalf of the individual to seek help but
not dictate the overall outcome as a result. For example: simply finding that a person has been a victim
of exploitation should not mean that a person be moved immediately into a facility forfeiting their
right to care for themselves. All facilities acting to protect a senior should aim to preserve senior

Steven Avery was a kind person. Everyone knew he was harmless. He was always smiling and always
trying to make someone laugh. Even if he was a good soul the actions of his family members put a
permanent label on him. Some might look and say, Oh he s one of the Avery s . The Avery s owned an

My First Concert
When an individual asks What was a moment that has changed you forever , it can be extremely
difficult to answer. Such a broad question brings up many notable moments from an already large
selection. If I could pick one that makes me smile every time I look back onto it. It would be the first
concert I ever went to. It was not only my first time hearing my favorite band live, but it was also my
first time listening to live music. On top of the already intense experience, I had learned something
very important that day. Through the generosity of a very kind woman, I was able to experience my
very first concert. I learned that Generosity pushes beyond simple gestures and acts of kindness. It can
leave a lasting impression on any person, changing them for the better. Since then, reflecting on all the
moments that still bring many laughs and memories I made that day only assured me that I would
remember it forever. Fatefully, on a Friday night, the day before the concert, I was currently on the
computer at my house. I received a text around seven o clock at night. One of my friends had texted
me, saying that they were outside my house. As I went to the door, I saw that my friend, along with
five other people I knew were standing there. Want to go to a concert tomorrow? Alt J is playing one
of them said as they came inside my house. At first I was confused and caught off guard a little.

Meaning And Definition Of Ledger By J. R. Batliboi
Meaning and Definition of Ledger
According to J.R. Batliboi , The ledger is the chief of accounts and it is in this book that all the
business transactions would ultimately find their place under their accounts in a duly classified form.
A Ledger should be kept in the form of bound register, or in the form of cards or in punched sheets or
it can be in the form of loose leaf binder. Every account in the ledger is opened preferably or it can be
in a separate page or card
These all business transactions are first recorded in Journal or Special Purpose Subsidiary Books. The
next step is to transfer the entries to the respective accounts in Ledger. In other words this shows that

accounts should not be opened for posting transactions relating to the same account. If there are two
customers with similar names, say the Account of Anil (of Karol Bagh) and the Account of Anil (of
Chandni Chowk).
2. The word To is used before the accounts which appear on the debit side of an account. Similarly, the
word By is used before the accounts which appear on the credit side of an account.
3. If an account has been debited in the journal entry, the posting in the Ledger should also be made on
the debit side of such account. In the particular column, the name of the other account which has been

How To Write A Persuasive Essay On Maternity Leave
Maternity Leave In the United States there has been an ongoing battle between women and their
employers on the subject of maternity leave. A woman is creating new life inside of her and once the
child is born the first months of its life are crucial to development. This is why it is important that a
mother is allowed to stay home with her child without the fear of being left without a job. America
should have better parental leave policies so that women are able to tend to the growth and
development of their child and not be discouraged to leave their jobs, and companies can maintain
their employees happier for a better work environment. It is often unknown how behind America is
falling in terms of paid family and medical leave. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

dates back to when men were the only income providers who could easily support a family while
women stayed home to care for their children. If the U.S wants to continue to be a progressive

Taking a Look at Ancient Empires
Ancient Empires such as Gupta, Rome, Maya, and Rome were some important empires. They all have
Pros/Cons in their Empire. No empire was perfect, each empire had its own ups and downs. The
Romans had a strong military that gained lots of new land compared to the Mayans who did not have a
strong military because their military did not help gain lots of land and didn t really defend their land
well like the Romans did. Rome had better beliefs and religion such as Roman mythology which had
stronger beliefs compared to hinduism in Gupta. Even though, Maya enjoyed good trade such as
animal skin, and jade, Romans still had better architecture which was more helpful. Rome has better
characteristics compared to the other empires which makes it the most successful.
When the idea comes to military, it is important that the military is strong so it can help protect
land/people and help the empire in gaining new land. Mayans didn t have a good military compared to
the military the Romans had. Furthermore, the Roman s military was strong because they conquered
lots of land in places like Italy, Malta, Spain, Portugal, and etc with strong military tactics compared to
the Mayan s military which didn t help in gaining lots of new land. Weapons like shield, sandal,
gladius, other weapons and smart strategies like the orb helped Romans in achieving lots of new land.
For example, The orb was a defensive position which helped in the defense of the Romans. People can

The Rocking Horse Winner, By D. H. Lawrence
In literature, a symbol suggests that there is more meaning than what it appears to be. In the short
story The Rocking Horse Winner, D.H Lawrence uses many symbols that relate to the story s theme
and lets readers apply this to their daily lives. Symbols such as the whispering house, the rocking
horse, and money allude to a deeper truth found in the text. The story not only relates to the emotional
toils Paul s family encounters, but also brings awareness to the realistic run ins the world faces today.
The Rocking Horse Winner is a tragic tale about an overly materialistic mother who is compulsive
about money. She feels no instinctual love for her children and as a result, her son Paul attempts to
earn her love. The word money is an echo throughout the story. Representing obsession, greed, and
despair, the loss of an ideal family and the lack of value for her children, is the major theme of the
story. The family of five s house is described as a pleasant garden home, made up of valuables, and
also has servants. The house itself has a repeat of There must be more money! There must be more
money! Symbolizing that their humble abode is not truly a home, the pleas of greed relate to the
mother s materialism and lack of nurture. As the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

belief and in many stories of biblical text show selfishness and corruption when an individual is

Foreclosure In The Orphanage
In the film, The Orphanage, directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, the character of Laura exemplifies
individuals in society that are exposed to hardship and traumatic events, thereby searching for a true
sense of closure in order to fully resolve the problem and eventually recover and move on from the
past. To start off, towards the beginning of the film, Laura demonstrates an example of an individual
that has faced a horrific event which was left unsaid or unfinished. The dreadful idea of losing an only
child is truly indescribable, however, this is the scenario that Laura must face and move on from.
Moreover, it seems as if Laura has had no chance to say goodbye, or has no idea where/what happened
to her son, thus triggering this unfound closure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Closure truly allows an individual to gain a complete and satisfactory resolution to his/her problems,
releasing agony and allowing satisfaction and comfort. Closure is not only a sign of endurance and
faith, but also a sign of ease and tranquility from a past trauma that haunts the living daylights out of
someone. It also allows individuals to successfully move on from the dreadful past into a hopeful
future. Moreover, closure is the magic that triggers healing, it cures the past scars and wound one
experiences in their life. In a like manner, Laura was an individual that faced many hardships and grief
because of this unfound closure towards her son, Simon. Indeed Laura never fully became satisfied
with her life and her situation until she fully gained closure and an answer to what really occurred,
thereby easing her pain and allowing her to restore her faith. Likewise, I myself have gone through a
period in my life where grief and sadness of the death of my grandparents overwhelmed my physical
and emotional self being, the guilt and sadness not allowing for a full recovery. However, when I truly
seeked out closure or an answer to how I could allow myself to accept reality and move on, then and
only then did the process of healing invade my heart. Truly, hardship can only be fought with closure,
as the one who bails to find the truth, losses the opportunity to recover fully, and lives the rest of his
life in regret and gloom. Always seek out closure as it opens your heart to acceptance and strengths is

Examples Of Stereotypes In The Myth Of Latin Women
The most that struck me about the myth of the Latinos was stereotypes and how these cause prejudice
against this people. The Merriam Webster Dictionary define stereotypes as to believe unfairly that
people or things with a particular characteristic are the same . As we all know we live in a society full
of stereotypes about Latinos, because they are mostly seen as vulgar, uneducated and very sensual
individuals. Latinos are commonly rejected and criticized, in other countries like United States. I
disagree with the stereotypes about Latinos, because stereotypes are absurd generalizations created
mostly by the media, it creates prejudices and discrimination, and also leads to pessimism and

In the taletelling community of Maycomb, in south Alabama during the 1930s, a compassionate man

She uses the description of slum children and their lives throughout the novel to manipulate the reader

filled with tears but he hadn t screamed. Instead he d stood there with his blood spurting stump, his
ability to earn a living ended, and started apologizing to the owner of the plant. (Boo. 65) The author

Summary Of To The Virgins To Make Much Of Time
Beginning of the document content. Robert Herrick s To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time depicts
life as a fleeting moment in which people must not take advantage of. His observations of nature with
references to tomorrow and not losing your prime indicate his strong belief in living every day as if it
were his last. While there have been numerous poems pertaining to living life to the fullest, Herrick
captures this message with such delicacy and precision, it sets it apart from every other one of his
pieces. This poem is a carefully constructed poem expressing essentially a simple sentiment. It says
what it wants with extraordinary technical proficiency, yet without sacrificing the centrality of its
message. Old Time is capitalized to personify time itself. This gives the effect that if time were a
person, his age would grow and grow yet his influence on everything around him never fades. Herrick
also personifies flowers by writing how one day they smile, and the next they are dead. This fleeting
sense of imagery buttresses Herrick s overall theme of seizing the day. The flowers smile instead of
grow or sway in the wind; this indicates that Herrick purposefully chose to label these as soft creatures
that anyone can relate to. The comparison of a smiling flower against the thought of death is jarring to
an audience. This makes whoever is reading this piece take a step back and initially recognize Herrick
s point. Likewise, by personifying the

Pros And Cons Of The Solow Paradox
lt;a href= quot;http://www.geocities.com/vaksam/ quot; gt;Sam Vaknin s Psychology, Philosophy,

The PRODUCTIVE HARDWARE
The world is debating the Solow Paradox. Named after the Nobel laureate in economics, it was stated
by him thus: quot; You can see the computer age everywhere these days, except in the productivity
statistics quot;. The venerable economic magazine, quot; The Economist quot; in its issue dated July
24th, quotes the no less venerable Professor Robert Gordon ( quot;one of America s leading
authorities on productivity quot;) p.20:
quot;...the productivity performance of the manufacturing sector of the United States economy since
1995 has been abysmal rather than admirable. Not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has been duly detected by Robert Gordon in his quot;Has the New Economy rendered the
productivity slowdown obsolete? quot;.
But for this increased productivity to trickle down to the rest of the economy a few conditions have to
be met.
The transition from old technologies to a new one (the computer renders many a technology obsolete)
must not involve too much quot;creative destruction quot;. The costs of getting rid of old hardware,
software, of altering management techniques or adopting new ones, of shedding redundant manpower,
of searching for new employees to replace the unqualified or unqualifiable, of installing new
hardware, software and of training new people in all levels of the corporation are enormous. They
must never exceed the added benefits of the newly introduced technology in the long run. Hence the
crux of the debate. Is IT more expensive to introduce, run and maintain than the technologies that it so
confidently aims to replace? Will new technologies be spun off the core IT in a pace sufficient to
compensate for the disappearance of old ones? As the technology mature, will it overcome its
childhood maladies (lack of operational reliability, bad design, non specificity, immaturity of the first

They result in the following environmental threats like greenhouse effect, acidification, over
fertilization and depletion of the ozone layer. Impact of metals increasing levels of heavy metals such
as mercury and lead in the ground raise the risk of these leaking into the rivers, lakes and seas. These
elements cannot be broken down when repeatedly absorbed by organisms and they reach toxic levels.
Exploitation of the natural environment The eco cycle dictates that natural resources are returned to
the environment at the same rate as they are extracted. The use of fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural
gases which are used in transport or to facilitate transport are extracted more than what can be
returned thus going against the principle of eco cycle. Expansion of transport requirements involves
bringing down of tree and extracting from the ground which affects the environment. An example is
the bypass that is running parallel to the Nairobi national park that is going to affect how the wildlife
lives. Specific urban problems The effects of transport can influence the psychological and social well

Becoming a Life Light Paramedic
Life light paramedic
Have you ever wondered what is like to have someone s life in your hands while one thousand feet
above the ground? Well I have and I want to be a life light paramedic but to be a life light paramedic
there are a few steps you must take. Step one is to take an EMT class to become an EMT. But one
thing to count on in this field is blood and it s not for the squeamish. Another perk life light
paramedics need or any paramedic for that fact is to be quick thinker and able to make big decisions
fast.
An EMT class will last about an average school semester length and will cost an average of fifteen
hundred dollars. You must be in or have your high school diploma or GED to be an EMT. Now you re
wondering what an EMT is? Well an EMT is an emergency medical technician they are pretty much a
lower class paramedic. They know all the same things but are not as well experienced.
As an EMT your boss would be the paramedic going on rides with you, you re now wondering what a
ride is? Well a ride is just the term used for when you go out on a call or emergency and you drive the
emergency response vehicle to the location with a partner in this case the senior officer. The average
pay for an EMT is about thirty five thousand a year or thirteen seventy five an hour. Most EMT s will
go on to be a nurse or paramedic themselves to further their career. This leads me to my next step in
the process of becoming a life light paramedic.

A Thousand Splendid Suns Feminist Analysis
In Hosseini s A Thousand Splendid Suns, Mariam and Laila were brought together due to
circumstances they could not control. Although they were both oppressed wives of a cruel and violent
husband, Rasheed, they were eventually able to regain power over their own lives. The two women
supported and learned from each other, finding strength in their relationship. Their relationship was an
alliance of sorts and was essential to their ability to regain power over their lives. Once Mariam and
Laila befriended each other, they each started to gain courage and hope and began to take more control
over their lives in separate, small acts of courage and rebellion that eventually led to significant events
which cemented their newly regained power. The developing of power did not come without
obstacles, but Mariam and Laila were able to persevere and continue to stand up for themselves
against both Rasheed and their societal constraints. Finding strength and motivation from each other
and from other loved ones essential to their efforts, Mariam and Laila were able to take power over
their own lives by standing up to and retaliating against oppressors in a series of events which led to
the pivotal moment when Mariam kills Rasheed, finally setting both women free and giving them both

One of the first instances of such rebellion was when Rasheed, the greatest obstacle to the women s
regaining of power over their lives, was preparing to beat Mariam with his belt. Laila was not willing
to succumb to the power Rasheed exerted upon them with violence, so she lunged at Rasheed herself,
preventing him from harming Mariam. This small victory against Rasheed was the beginning of
several events that marked the women s attaining of power. Another example of how Laila rebelled
against Rasheed s possessive, controlling nature is when

The Horror Of The Vietnam War
Well Done
Since the Vietnam War was fought in Southeast Asia, it is difficult for many Americans to imagine
what the people of South Vietnam experienced during the Vietnam War. To better understand, the
American people had to rely on eye witness accounts, film clips, and photographs. One photograph in
particular captures the horror of the Vietnam War. It is the image of Phan Phuc, a naked, nine year old,
South Vietnamese girl, taken on June 8, 1972, by Nick Ut. The photograph shows the horrors of
napalm, the emotionless soldiers, and photo journalists, and children suffering.
Jets tear through the air over a green jungle in Vietnam. What is a beautiful, peaceful, thriving jungle,
with villages and families will soon be a charred ash pit with nothing but the lingering feeling of what
once was. As bombs drop and the liquid fire races through the jungle, everything in its path is
destroyed. Trees that have stood the test of time, burned over. Resource providing plants turned to ash.
People s homes and everything they have, destroyed. They flee, screaming for their lives. Mothers and
fathers separated from their families. Children left to die in a burning jungle. While some make it out,
most are likely charred to crisp. Left homeless, with nowhere to go. Bodies lie on the scorched jungle
floor like burnt pines in a California wildfire. The smell of burnt flesh burns your nostrils. Thick,
black smog fills the air and begins to flatten out over the acreage. As if it is chasing

What Is The Impact Of Bombing On Germany
The technological developments that assisted bombing, the impact of bombing on the German
economy, the impact of bombing on the German civilian morale and also the effects on the German
war effort all help explain why the Allied strategic bombing of Germany during the Second World War
was significant to quite a far extent. Each of the following paragraphs will analyse the impacts of the
Allied strategic bombing on different aspects of Germany and also what factors assisted the Allied
bombing campaign in creating a significant impact on Germany during the Second World War. The
technological developments during the campaign affected the significance of the bombing of Germany
during the Second World War. In 1939 1941, there were less planes, or navigational ... Show more

The attacks on Hamburg were not a turning point of the war as Bomber Command s fortunes had
completely disappeared once they started targeting Berlin, where their loss rates peaked to
unacceptably high levels. Therefore Gee made less of an impact in assisting the Allied strategic
bombing of Germany compared to Window. However the impact on Hamburg caused by Window was
relatively short lived because the Germans countered. On the other hand the long range escort fighters,
disposable fuel tanks and The Thousand Bomber raids had a long lived impact. The P 51 Mustang was
an important aircraft in the war that had an American airframe and a British Rolls Royce Merlin
Engine. Disposable fuel tanks, which increased the Allied fighter s range were loaded onto the P 51
Mustang and by March 1944, the modified Mustang had a 1800 mile armed range and could fly with
the bombers to Berlin and back. Richard Ovary said The long range escort fighter transformed the air
war overnight. Lastly the thousand bomber raid on 30th to 31st May 1942 against Cologne saw the
destruction of a third of the inner zone of Cologne along with the destroying of 20000 houses and the
evacuation of 200000 people.

Arguments Against The Mexican War
Boom! The sound of a cannon in the far off distance goes off, now there is fear that rises up into the
air. When going into this war, many soldiers believed in something called Manifest Destiny. Manifest
Destiny was God s plan that America would extend its territory all the way to the Pacific Ocean. This
bloody war was much like the war that commenced at the Alamo. The Alamo set into motion actions
concluding with the Texans winning their independence from Mexico. The United States was justified
in going to war with Mexico because Mexico attacked American soldiers first, Texas was not ready to
abolish slavery, Texas had their own independence, Mexico crossed American borders, Americans
believed in Manifest Destiny, and the U.S. should follow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The battle of San Jacinto lead to Texas s independence in 1836.(Roden 271) Texas had just won their
freedom, now they wanted to choose to be part of the US union. According to this information, The
invasion was threatened solely because Texas had determined to annex herself to our union , (Polk
325) Texas had their independence and wanted to join the US. Mexico was unwilling to allow Texas to
leave. As time went on the US finally made a decision to annex Texas the union. Texas is now ours!
(O Sullivan 323) Many people were happy and rejoiced that the US now had Texas. This struggle is
displayed in one of Roden s maps, when the Mexicans crossed our borders. In the map that Roden
had, it showed the US going to the Rio Grande and then Mexico coming over to the Rio Grande too,
which was within American borders.(Roden 315) When the Mexicans crossed America s borders, they
didn t think they did, because both America and Mexico had different ideas of where the border was.
Mexico believed it to be on the Nueces River, and America believed it to be on the Rio Grande. This
could have been a reason of to why America and Mexico got into the big argument. This evidence
shows that the US was justified in going to war because Mexico killed U.S. soldiers on American soil,
and Texas itself had chosen to join with the U.S. All this information gives much

team at Beck s Hybrids has led them to recruiting and selecting the right people.
Beck s Hybrids is a regional family owned seed corn company. The main headquarters is located in
Atlanta, Indiana. Beck s has been in business for over 78 years. The business started in 1937 with just
family planting and harvesting the crops. At the time, Mr. Beck didn t realize this launch was going to
be a huge success for the second and third generations of the Beck family. Over time, the company
expanded to the owner, his wife and a few farm employees. Beck s Hybrids has become the largest
family owned seed corn business in the United States by recruiting and selecting talented people. In
1990, there were 15 full time employees and six of them were Beck family members. By 2006, there
were 80 full time employees. Today, there are over 500 full time employees. In the summer that
number grows to over 700, that includes interns and summer help. Beck s Hybrids is a good example
of how recruitment and selection, in alignment with the company culture, has made them the number

responsibilities of the recruiters.

Definition Of True Beauty Essay
Tyler Bennett Professor Chad Brodbeck ENC 1101 Composition 1 31 October 2017 True Beauty
When asked to describe beauty, one s initial response is to comment on physical attributes such as
hair, eyes, and facial structure. Rarely will the answer entail traits such as selflessness and
intelligence. Merriam Webster defines beauty as the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or
thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit. Inner and outer beauty
stimulates the mind in some way. Many believe physical attributes define beauty, yet one cannot
exemplify true beauty without the harmony of personality, interaction, and physical attributes.
Architecturally speaking, Vitruvius emphasizes that Order is the balanced adjustment of the details of
the work separately, and as to the whole, the arrangement of the proportion with a view to a
symmetrical result (Vitruvius 26 27). Vitruvius was a Roman architect who wrote the book De
architectura, which many architects used for their own work in Rome. As seen in his works, symmetry
appears often. Another philosopher, who goes by the name of Plotinus, asserts that: Almost everyone
declares that the symmetry of parts towards each other and towards a whole, with, besides, a certain
charm of colour, constitutes the beauty recognized by the eye, that in visible things, as indeed in all
else, universally, the beautiful thing is essentially symmetrical, patterned. (Plotinus 21 [Ennead 1.6])

The Myth of Exodus Essay
The Myth of Exodus
There are many themes running through the Old Testament myth of Exodus slavery, rescue and
redemption, guidance, commandments on how to live, the creation of a nation, and God s power over
other gods. In this paper I will explore what appears to be the chief reasoning behind the creation of
the Exodus myth the explanation of the creation of a monotheistic religion and the similarities of the
Exodus myth to the ancient myths, as well as how one should approach the reading of the myth.
First of all, we need to understand what a myth is. William Bascom says in his essay, The Forms of
Folklore: Prose Narratives , Myths are prose narratives which, in the society in which they are told,
are considered to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the heart of the matter, the creators of a myth are attempting to explain their world in a world
absent of science and sophisticated tools of research. In approaching myth, the reader must enter into
the world of the creators of the myth, instead of attempting to impose their own societal beliefs and
expectations on it. In short, we need to read the myth in imitation of how the myth was originally
received.
In the myth of Exodus, a monotheistic system of worship was needed in order to create a unified
nation with one god. Exodus attempts to provide an explanation for this movement away from the
traditional polytheistic religion. Lauri Honko says in her essay, The Problem of Defining Myth ,
...myths can be characterized as ontological: they are incorporated and integrated into a coherent view
of the world, and they describe very important aspects of life and the universe (Dundes 51). Within the
pages of Exodus we find the first code of laws the Ten Commandments for living as a monotheistic
society. God begins the Ten Commandments with admonishment to keep Him above all other gods,
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you
shall have no other gods before me (Exodus 20:1 3).
In this passage, God reminds Moses that God is supreme above all other gods and he reminds Moses
of the miracle he has performed in bringing the people out of Egypt. The

  • 2. Essay On 60 Minute Overtime After reviewing two shows broadcasted on television (NBC News and a television series called 60 Minute Overtime), a newspaper article from Daily News, and two articles online that focus on the Challengers story, I believe the shows broadcasted on television are the most reliable. The newspaper article was very reliable especially since it was published the day after the explosion. It had a lot of the emotions felt during that time period. Unfortunately, the newspaper was not able to provide a definite answer as to why the crash was caused because the cause was not for sure then. This Day in History: Challenger Space Shuttle Explosion Kills Seven is a reliable article that provides just enough information to understand the story, but not the resolution. Anyone ... The two shows broadcasted on television proved to be the most reliable. The National Broadcasting Company is a news corporation, and on the day of the Challenger they aired it live. As a lot of America was watching live, so was the news reporter (Kent Shocknek) and the voice of the launch control (Hugh Harris). Both of their reactions were how they reacted live. The viewers then and now see the crisis happen with their own eyes and can feel the emotion that was felt. NBC is one of the most reliable sources because it only gave facts, and it came from the day of the Challenger mission. 60 Minute Overtime is a television show that focused an episode on the Challenger mission. This episode brought people that were very close to this mission. For example Christa McAuliffe s mom. The people brought in were interviewed about the subject. This episode was a whole sixty minutes focusing on facts and emotions about the Challenger. This is very reliable because not only do the listeners learn about what happened that day, but they can hear about the emotions felt and the opinions of the ones ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With my visual observations of my sunflower seedlings completely drying up and dying, the negative growth rate per day of my plants (along with the rest of the minus calcium treatments in the class having a significantly lower average growth rate when compared to the control plants in the class), and the huge difference in average water use between the minus calcium treatment plants in the class when compared to the control plants in class, it is clear that the effect was severe. Without water being transported through the plant, photosynthesis and growth could not occur, and although the plants tried to conserve as much water as possible (through closing their stomata), since they recognized they were not able to take in any more because of their roots they could not sustain themselves. I believe that calcium was immobile in the plant the effects of not having it were so harsh and immediate that I believe there was none present. The fact that the minus calcium treatment plants couldn t take up water through their roots, which, as I stated before, is directly related to calcium deficiency, only further supports the notion that it was immobile in the plant. Demons! is a graphic memoir of Barry s personal life in which she illustrates the different kinds of demons she encountered while growing up. These demons caused her question if she really had true friends that made her feel welcomed and loved. Specifically, in the chapter The Visitor, Barry demonstrates the idea of social belonging as she s trying to fill in the emotional void to fully feel herself again. • 5. Comparing The Plot Scenes In Hamlet And Gregory Doran s... William Shakespeare s Hamlet has been portrayed several times during the past centuries but what distinguishes each piece of work is how the directors approached the play. Hamlet without doubt is a troubled man overcome with the death of his father and the discovery that us uncle now step father murdered his late father, the king of Denmark. Kenneth Branagh s and Gregory Doran s portrayals of the famous closet scene demonstrates two extremes of Hamlet s relationship with his mother Gertrude. Branagh s version of the closet scene uses bright pastel colours such as blue, pink and red to show happiness and innocence. The use of light blue hints the youth of a child as it is often associated with the birth of boys in today s society. The only exception is Hamlet, as he is dressed all in black. His black clothing is not only used as a way to signify Hamlet s mourning of his father but also as a way to represent how Hamlet himself is corrupt. This contrasts with Gertrude s appearance who is dressed neatly in golden. Gold which symbolizes wealth and power is used to describe Gertrude s position of power in the kingdom. Additionally, the golden dress represents purity and demonstrates how Gertrude is oblivious to the corruption taking place in her kingdom. On the other hand, Doran s version uses much darker tones such as dark blues, silvers and golds. The use of silver and gold demonstrates the wealth and power the royal family has over themselves and society while the dark blue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Passionate Shepherd to His Love and The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd: A comparison The Passionate Shepherd to His Love was written by Christopher Marlowe. The poem describes a shepherd s plea to someone he loves urging them to live with him. Marlowe uses imagery to describe the scenery around the shepherd and his love. The shepherd tries to convince her how happy they will be, surrounded by mountain yields and groves in stanza one. Marlowe does not only use imagery in his poem but he also describes the aroma And a thousand fragrant posies. However she tries to bring him to his senses and make him realize that things do change and nothing is permanent. The flowers do fade and wanton fields To wayward Winter reckoning yields. In the quotation above she is expressing the idea that when winter comes the flowers will no longer be in their full bloom. Again in the fourth stanza the nymph tells the shepherd that beds of roses and posies will not last in winter. Sir Walter Ralegh uses the nymph to make the point that spring changes to autumn as youth changes to old age and because of this she will not live with the shepherd. This conveys the impermanence of nature and by implication the impermanence of love. In comparison with the shepherd s description it is a more brutal but realistic portrayal of love. The Passionate Shepherd to His Love is an idealistic poem with fairytale images of country life whilst Sir Walter Ralegh s poem parodies the style of a love letter. The elderly population is indeed becoming victimized on a larger scale than has been seen in the past. Perhaps the most compelling part of your article was that of your question Who is responsible for protecting these individuals? You pose quite a thought and emotion invoking question and one which I could not help but share ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If a family member is suspected of being the perpetrator of abuse, neglect, or exploitation they should in fact not be involved in the seniors life but otherwise there should be a common sense rule that we look out for our family members. Too often seniors refuse to report abuse, neglect, or crime against them out of fear of losing independence. It is a common misconception that being victimized will deem you unfit to live independently and will result in being placed in a facility of some sort. It is important that seniors feel they can turn to those around them with concerns and incidents that occur. In the event that a senior is not forthcoming with information there are a number of avenues that may involve reporting of suspected incidents. Hospitals, doctors, community service organizations, and long term care facilities can report suspected crimes to authorities or Department of Social Services in an effort to protect the individual. If a senior cannot properly protect themselves then health care professionals from all areas should have the ability to act on behalf of the individual to seek help but not dictate the overall outcome as a result. For example: simply finding that a person has been a victim of exploitation should not mean that a person be moved immediately into a facility forfeiting their right to care for themselves. All facilities acting to protect a senior should aim to preserve senior ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the short story The Rocking Horse Winner, D.H Lawrence uses many symbols that relate to the story s theme and lets readers apply this to their daily lives. Symbols such as the whispering house, the rocking horse, and money allude to a deeper truth found in the text. The Rocking Horse Winner is a tragic tale about an overly materialistic mother who is compulsive about money. The authors choice of language and diction supports her main rhetorical message that the children in Annawadi have been forced to live a life that no child should ever have to live. Boo s appeal to pathos can be found throughout the novel. The author states that Abdul had seen a young boy s hand cut clean off when he was putting plastic into one of the shredders. The boy s eyes had filled with tears but he hadn t screamed. Instead he d stood there with his blood spurting stump, his ability to earn a living ended, and started apologizing to the owner of the plant. • 21. Summary Of To The Virgins To Make Much Of Time Beginning of the document content. Robert Herrick s To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time depicts life as a fleeting moment in which people must not take advantage of. His observations of nature with references to tomorrow and not losing your prime indicate his strong belief in living every day as if it were his last. While there have been numerous poems pertaining to living life to the fullest, Herrick captures this message with such delicacy and precision, it sets it apart from every other one of his pieces. This poem is a carefully constructed poem expressing essentially a simple sentiment. It says what it wants with extraordinary technical proficiency, yet without sacrificing the centrality of its message. Old Time is capitalized to personify time itself. This gives the effect that if time were a person, his age would grow and grow yet his influence on everything around him never fades. Herrick also personifies flowers by writing how one day they smile, and the next they are dead. This fleeting sense of imagery buttresses Herrick s overall theme of seizing the day. The flowers smile instead of grow or sway in the wind; this indicates that Herrick purposefully chose to label these as soft creatures that anyone can relate to. The comparison of a smiling flower against the thought of death is jarring to an audience. This makes whoever is reading this piece take a step back and initially recognize Herrick s point. Likewise, by personifying the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But for this increased productivity to trickle down to the rest of the economy a few conditions have to be met. The transition from old technologies to a new one (the computer renders many a technology obsolete) must not involve too much quot;creative destruction quot;. The costs of getting rid of old hardware, software, of altering management techniques or adopting new ones, of shedding redundant manpower, of searching for new employees to replace the unqualified or unqualifiable, of installing new hardware, software and of training new people in all levels of the corporation are enormous. They must never exceed the added benefits of the newly introduced technology in the long run. Hence the crux of the debate. Is IT more expensive to introduce, run and maintain than the technologies that it so confidently aims to replace? Will new technologies be spun off the core IT in a pace sufficient to compensate for the disappearance of old ones? Although they were both oppressed wives of a cruel and violent husband, Rasheed, they were eventually able to regain power over their own lives. The two women supported and learned from each other, finding strength in their relationship. Their relationship was an alliance of sorts and was essential to their ability to regain power over their lives. Once Mariam and Laila befriended each other, they each started to gain courage and hope and began to take more control over their lives in separate, small acts of courage and rebellion that eventually led to significant events which cemented their newly regained power. The Horror Of The Vietnam War Well Done Since the Vietnam War was fought in Southeast Asia, it is difficult for many Americans to imagine what the people of South Vietnam experienced during the Vietnam War. To better understand, the American people had to rely on eye witness accounts, film clips, and photographs. One photograph in particular captures the horror of the Vietnam War. It is the image of Phan Phuc, a naked, nine year old, South Vietnamese girl, taken on June 8, 1972, by Nick Ut. The photograph shows the horrors of napalm, the emotionless soldiers, and photo journalists, and children suffering. Jets tear through the air over a green jungle in Vietnam. What is a beautiful, peaceful, thriving jungle, with villages and families will soon be a charred ash pit with nothing but the lingering feeling of what once was. As bombs drop and the liquid fire races through the jungle, everything in its path is destroyed. Trees that have stood the test of time, burned over. Resource providing plants turned to ash. People s homes and everything they have, destroyed. They flee, screaming for their lives. Mothers and fathers separated from their families. Children left to die in a burning jungle. While some make it out, most are likely charred to crisp. Left homeless, with nowhere to go. Bodies lie on the scorched jungle floor like burnt pines in a California wildfire. The smell of burnt flesh burns your nostrils. Thick, black smog fills the air and begins to flatten out over the acreage. As if it is chasing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Definition Of True Beauty Essay Tyler Bennett Professor Chad Brodbeck ENC 1101 Composition 1 31 October 2017 True Beauty When asked to describe beauty, one s initial response is to comment on physical attributes such as hair, eyes, and facial structure. Rarely will the answer entail traits such as selflessness and intelligence. Merriam Webster defines beauty as the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit. Inner and outer beauty stimulates the mind in some way. Many believe physical attributes define beauty, yet one cannot exemplify true beauty without the harmony of personality, interaction, and physical attributes. Architecturally speaking, Vitruvius emphasizes that Order is the balanced adjustment of the details of the work separately, and as to the whole, the arrangement of the proportion with a view to a symmetrical result (Vitruvius 26 27). Vitruvius was a Roman architect who wrote the book De architectura, which many architects used for their own work in Rome. As seen in his works, symmetry appears often. Another philosopher, who goes by the name of Plotinus, asserts that: Almost everyone declares that the symmetry of parts towards each other and towards a whole, with, besides, a certain charm of colour, constitutes the beauty recognized by the eye, that in visible things, as indeed in all else, universally, the beautiful thing is essentially symmetrical, patterned. In this paper I will explore what appears to be the chief reasoning behind the creation of the Exodus myth the explanation of the creation of a monotheistic religion and the similarities of the Exodus myth to the ancient myths, as well as how one should approach the reading of the myth. First of all, we need to understand what a myth is. William Bascom says in his essay, The Forms of Folklore: Prose Narratives , Myths are prose narratives which, in the society in which they are told, are considered to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the heart of the matter, the creators of a myth are attempting to explain their world in a world absent of science and sophisticated tools of research. In approaching myth, the reader must enter into the world of the creators of the myth, instead of attempting to impose their own societal beliefs and expectations on it. In short, we need to read the myth in imitation of how the myth was originally received. In the myth of Exodus, a monotheistic system of worship was needed in order to create a unified nation with one god. Exodus attempts to provide an explanation for this movement away from the traditional polytheistic religion. Lauri Honko says in her essay, The Problem of Defining Myth , ...myths can be characterized as ontological: they are incorporated and integrated into a coherent view of the world, and they describe very important aspects of life and the universe (Dundes 51). Within the pages of Exodus we find the first code of laws the Ten Commandments for living as a monotheistic society. God begins the Ten Commandments with admonishment to keep Him above all other gods, I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you shall have no other gods before me (Exodus 20:1 3).
