Mao Zedong Analysis
In order for a revolution to occur, it is essential to have a leader the revolutionaries can unite under; a
leader as persistent as Mao Zedong. Mao s birth into the peasant class taught him about the rigid social
structures of China at a young age, as he recognized the strife peasants endured on a daily basis. He
knew how they thought and emphasized with their thirst for equity in China s rigid social society
(Calkins). As Mao grew older, his recognition of the oppressed class allowed him to develop an
affinity towards the principles of Marxism Leninism, which were utilized in restoring China to its
original greatness (Zedong qtd in Lynch 4). Mao believed that the peasants fury and desperation was
powerful enough to spark a communist revolution, leading to equality and justice in China (Lynch 3).
The peasants who were mistreated for so long rose to the occasion of Mao s advocating for their
rights. His popularity and influence among the masses of China was increased. Mao rose to power by
1949 through increased peasantry support, giving him the authorization to change China into a
communist country.
Prior to the Second Chinese Civil War, Mao gained the loyalty of the oppressed class through
presenting his ideology in a flattering fashion. Mao allowed his followers to know he recognized their
strife, and taught them the importance of confidence and violence in a revolution. He brainwashed
them with promises for a New China so they d believe he himself was

Unit 3 Assignment 1 Candidate Preselection
When companies are hiring hundreds people per month and getting thousand resumes per position,
they are using ATS systems that are helping them with the first candidate preselection. Resumes are

Radiation Physics Personal Statement
I am applying to the Radiation Health Physics graduate program of study at OSU. I have been a high
school Physics, Mathematics, and Engineering teacher for nearly the past 10 years. My personal
experiences in education have helped shape my vision and practices at a small, rural school district in
Western Pennsylvania. It has been this experience that has given me the confidence to believe I am far
more capable than I had thought I was only 10 years earlier. I am ready to apply my knowledge of
Physics, Electronics, Computer Programming, and digital modeling techniques to Radiation Physics
and make a greater impact to the world at large. It is through the education I wish to obtain at Oregon
State University that I will make this happen. My college experience began in 2002 as a student
enrolled in the Associates of Applied Science in Electronics Technology at Butler County Community
College located in Butler, Pennsylvania. I studied the foundations of electronics including, but not
limited to Analog and Digital electronics, Bipolar Junction Transistor and Operational Amplifier

returns his focus back to Harry, he attempts to marry Harry and Ellen. This follows through, and at the
wedding reception, Mrs. Saunders announces that she is leaving. Clive, saddened, kisses her and a
fight breaks out between Mrs. Saunders and Betty. Clive kicks Mrs. Saunders out of the house, and
returns to the party. As Clive goes to give a toast to the newly wedded Harry and Ellen, Joshua raises a

Susan B. Anthony And Elizabeth Cady Stanton
Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton were considered the founding Mothers of women s
rights. They had a very close relationship. The two of them made a great team.
Text one really shows what happens at the convention. At the convention they made twelve
resolutions. The third resolution states, that woman is man s equal was intended to be so by the
Creator, and the highest good of the race demands that she be recognized as such. The ninth resolution
called for women to have a vote. An abolitionist named Lucretia Mott feared that asking for the vote
would make the meeting look ridiculous.
Both stories show how the two women started the movement. It started in Seneca Fall in a small town
in upstate New York. Five women came together

How Did The Scientists Make A Big Difference In The World
Scientists make a big difference in the world. Albert Einstein was one of the greatest scientists in
history. Einstein added to the world with his brilliant knowledge. I would emulate Albert Einstein
because he made a difference in the world through his knowledge, curiosity, and commitment to
science. Einstein was a very smart scholar. When the US found out that the German scientists might
win the race to build an atomic bomb, Einstein was asked to write a letter to President Roosevelt
recommending that the US pay attention and engage in its own nuclear weapon research. As a result of
Einstein s letter and his meetings with Roosevelt, the U.S. entered the race to develop the atomic
bomb. This was known as the Manhattan project. Soon after

Conceptions Of Justice
Many of the most important aspects of and decisions about social organization hinge on an individual
or society s conception of justice. Because this conception of justice has tremendous influence over
the way societies are structured, political theorists interested in understanding and improving society
place great importance on understanding and articulating the nature of justice. While most of the
political theorists we have read in class have proposed definitions of justice, none of them sufficiently
incorporate the many dimensions of justice while remaining specific enough to allow for relatively
consistent distinctions between the just and unjust. To balance these competing demands, I propose
that justice is the impartial ordering of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aristotle articulates this view by saying that justice considers that those who are equal should have
assigned to them equal things, and that where people differ from one another there must be a
difference in what is just and proportionate to their merits. Recognizing that there are many different
respects in which people can be equal/unequal, he also stipulates that claims (to preferential treatment)
must be based on the elements which constitute the being of the city. To put this another way, Aristotle
believes that justice requires that distinctions made between people be made only on the basis of
relevant differences between them, and that the decisions of the polis to allocate resources unequally
must be made on the basis of differences relevant to the common interest of the

The third video, Run, includes more symbolism. However, it is mostly focused on the relationships
that the characters had with each other and their interactions together. Basically, the group can be
paired off into Rap Monster and V, Suga and Jungkook, and J Hope and Jimin. Jin does not have a
partner in this. He is further differentiated from the group in this way, and in the video he still has his
recording motif, as well as looking into the camera. The video starts with V falling backwards into
dark water. The water acts as a mirror in this case, showing him fall from one side of the mirror into
the other. There are shots of him struggling underwater throughout the video as well. After that, Rap
Monster is featured visiting the train tracks where the group was seen together. In this video, his
would be considered the present time. When he opens the door to one of the train cars, he starts a
flashback to times when the group was having fun. While the entire video is meant to be before the
members die, these are further flashbacks to when even V has not died, and they are all having fun
together. Some of these moments of fun directly mirror the activities that the ... Show more content on

it. These hypotheses can be deduced from the symbolism present in the form of cameras of recordings,

A company, like General Electric, that has a positive current ratio greater than 1, will also have a
positive net working capital. Net working capital assesses a company s ability to pay off short term
obligations. General Electric, along with their industry, both have the ability to meet short term
commitments and liquidate assets easily. Activity ratios have the capability to show how efficient, or
inefficient, a company is operating. Receivables turnover ratio indicates the level of efficiency with
managing credit given to customers and the collection period. Using their recent third quarter data, I
calculated that General Electric has a receivables turnover ratio of .80. That isn t awful, but their
industry is preforming at a much higher level of 1.8. Essentially, GE is not collecting payments as fast,
and are less efficient than their market competitors. On the other hand, there is also inventory
turnover. This ratio is set up to show how many times a period a company is selling out of
merchandise. Here is where General Electric is very close to the industry average. GE has an
inventory turnover of 4.2, compared to the industry at 4.4. The higher the ratio, the more effective a
business stands. Lastly, total asset turnover is used to measure how efficiently your business uses its
assets to generate sales (Avenir). GE possesses a ratio of .14, much lower than the industry

American Homefront During World War II Essay
The American home front during World War II is recalled warmly in popular memory and cultural
myth as a time of unprecedented national unity, years in which Americans stuck together in common
cause. World War II brought many new ideas and changes to American life. Even though World War II
brought no physical destruction to the United States mainland, it did affect American society. Every
aspect of American life was altered by U.S. involvement in the war including demographics, the labor
force, economics and cultural trends. During the Great Depression, the American birth rate had fallen
to an all time low due to delayed marriages and parenthood. In the 1940 s, there was a population

The climate and scenery appealed to many servicemen that had been stationed in the West, and after
the war many relocated there permanently with their families. During the 1940 s wartime production
required more factory workers. With the majority of males being enlisted into the military and the
work force depleted, minorities and women found many opportunities during the war. For most,
involvement became an adventure, a way that every citizen could feel he or she was making an
important contribution to the war effort (Duis, 20). While most women were married, they worked to
keep themselves busy while the males were off at war. Prior to the war only about one fourth of
women worked outside of the home (Bard, 173). By 1945, women made up 36% of the nation s total
workforce (Schultz). After the war, women were advised to leave work and continue their more
traditional role of wife and mother. African Americans improved their economical standing by
accepting war industry positions and through their migration from the south; some became
professionals and skilled workers, yet still facing harsh discrimination. There was a high commitment
of immigrant workers to the war effort that participated heavily in war bond and scrap metal collection
drives. Like African Americans, these immigrants were also subjected to racial prejudice. But overall,
America enjoyed full employment and a higher standard of living

Synopsis Of Storytelling Games
Alex Ingles
Dr. Liane Ritchey Sillet
AWR 201 A
6/12/2016
Thesis: Storytelling in games gives the gamers the opportunity to be involved in the game, experience
the characters, stimulate feelings like fear and excitement and let the player know they make situations
happen and the choices they make affect the outcome as well as motivate them to continue on.
Background:
After reading parts of The Storytelling Animal, it was clear that storytelling is in everything. As an
avid videogame player it was evident that many of the games that people play, like Battlefield, have a
storyline. After reading articles from the Proquest database like From Computer Games to Interactive
stories, a plan was developing about games and stories. Other thoughts on the thesis were whether
video games have stories and traits of their own and should these games have a storyline, especially
since it is a game. After researching and a discussion about this topic with the professor, it was
decided to do the first thesis idea. The topic is extensive in gaming articles and magazines. Gamers on
both sides have an opinion. It seemed that most of the articles read dealt with stories and games rather
than just gameplay. An article by Jan Simons in Game Studies discusses the narrative theory
extensively as well as the ludology and narratology side.
Theoretical Issues:
When studying video games one needs to know how human behavior works. Most theories regarding
video games deal with the violent actions

The Reform Act And The Municipal Act
The legislation passed in 1832, known as the Great Reform Act , was viewed as a breakthrough in
terms of reforming parliament due to it being the first of its kind. The legislation brought newly
enfranchised towns and cities into the fold, removed rotten boroughs and created a consistency in
voting all of which had been a problem for parliament previously. However many have argued to the
length that this legislation extended to and have countered that the legislation passed following 1832
was merely a slow progression towards full reform in the 20th century. These acts still left working
men without a vote and franchise was based on property rather than tax paying. This would suggest to
why there was so much disappointment from these acts as a result, as they simply did not go far
enough to reach the expectations that came with them. This essay will demonstrate why there was
such a sense of anticlimax with the legislation itself, as well as expanding upon the acts that were
passed after 1832 such as the second Great Reform Act and the Municipal act. All of which brought
further reform and change that was originally expected with the Great Reform Act in 1832. The great
sense of disappointment stemmed from the idea that the Great Reform Act did not address the issues
that were problematic in this period to the full extent they should have. A large factor was that of the
working class and how they could not vote if they did not meet certain property requirements or pay

Classical Archaeology Exam Essay
Throughout history seemingly unrelated objects or ideas can be brought together and connected in the
most extraordinary ways. Many philosophers believe that everything in the world is connected and
intertwined in some way, shape, or form. These principles can be applied to many subjects including
archaeology. The scene of Ajax on the Francois krater can be linked to Polyklietos s Doryphoros by
applying them both to the fundamentals of evolution.
Both pieces are a major turning point in art for Greece. They took the best parts of their predecessor s
pieces and furthered them, like evolution. The Doryphoros completely changed the way that the
Greeks composed the body position of their sculptures. The Greeks started out creating sculptures in
the same bland form as the Egyptians, with the Korus. There are many of these sculptures, but
Polyklietos took the foundations and basic themes of the Korus and revolutionized the body position.
All he did was change the balance of the sculpture; he tilted the hips and shoulders and changed the
leg position a little. This small difference made the sculpture more lifelike and more realistic. He ...

The Consequences Of Hard Rock And The Bloody Sunday Marchers
All those who marched in Selma, Alabama during Bloody Sunday took beatings and risked their lives
to allow African American and minorities to vote in the South. The marchers actions are like the
actions and results were taken by Hard Rock in the poem Hard Rock Returns to Prison from the
Hospital for the Criminally Insane. Hard Rock and the Bloody Sunday marchers faced very harsh
consequences from their authority for taking actions against them. Both were willing to face these
harsh punishments for their action against their authority. For their actions, they are beloved and
serves inspiration to many.
Hard Rock and the Bloody Sunday marchers faced severe consequences from their authority for
fighting against them. For example, Hard Rock spent 67 days in solitary confinement for smacking the
captain (authority) with the dinner tray as said in lines 17 19 Yeah, remember when he Smacked the
captain with his dinner tray? He set the record for time in the Hole 67 straight days! Like him, the
Selma marchers during Bloody Sunday had been the victim of abuse for not dispersing in front of the
Edmund Pettus Bridge as ordered by Governor George Wallace (authority). As a result, the state
troopers (authority) brutally attacked the peaceful protestors, including US Representative John Lewis,
who sustained a fractured skull (Jones).
Hard Rock and the Bloody Sunday marchers were willing to put themselves up to face the vicious
consequences from their authority because of their fight against their authority. As said in the poem in
lines 1 6 Hard Rock was known not to take no shit from nobody, and he had the scars to prove it: split
purple lips, lumped ears, welts above his yellow eyes, and one long scar that cut across his temple and
plowed through a thick canopy of his kinky hair which he received for fighting against his authority in
prison. Similarly, to Hard Rock, the SCLC knew they were possibly going to get hurt with actions
they were going to take. According to King Enclyopedia, SCLC had chosen to focus its efforts in
Selma because they anticipated that the notorious brutality of local law enforcement under Sheriff Jim
Clark would attract national attention and pressure President Lyndon B. Johnson and

Many project mangers, when first introduced to risk management, feel that there is something macho

If you lived in an apartment next to the building in which you work, the risk involved in getting to
work on time is many times lower than that facing a person with a 20 mile commute involving driving
to the station, getting kids to school, taking a pre work study course and public transport. The second
process in risk management is the process of Risk Reduction, Minimization or Containment. This
process involves planning and action to reduce the risks and, if that is not possible, to introduce
strategies to minimize the impact of failure. To manage the risks in our commute, we could reduce risk
by moving closer to work, obtaining flexible working hours or undertaking community and political
action to improve public transport. Contingency planning such as having alternative routes or
transport would be part of this process. The third and fourth processes of Risk Management are the
Risk Monitoring and Risk Reporting of the status of risks [particularly High risk factors], the
identification of new risk factors that have emerged during the project and reports on the effectiveness
of containment strategies. In our commute example, risk monitoring would involve watching the clock
and for traffic snarls. Risk reporting could be calling work to say you ll be late and to inform your
work colleagues of potential delays for other colleagues. Risk management also involves the

According to the text book, terrorism is defined as a systematic attempt to inspire fear to gain political
ends, typically involving the indiscriminate use of violence against noncombatants. Terrorist attacks is
definately not new to the U.S. In 2001, al Qaeda lauched an attack on New York s World Trade Center.
The attack killed thousands of Americans, and put the country in a state of panic and scare. One
reason for this attack was that Islamics were angered that the U.S had troops on the soil of Saudi
Arabia, which was regarded as sacred. Groups such as al Qaeda are extremely violent, and will not be
negotiated with for peace. Recently, we have had several terrorist attacks including the Boston
Marathon bombing, Muslim shooting at Fort Hood, and ISIS attacks on soldiers and journalists.
Recently, attacks from domestic islamists are a major concern for the U.S. These individuals are self
radicalized through beliefs and the internet, rather than being a part of a group. Farook and Malik, of
the San Bernardino attacks, are examples of this. In my opinion, terrorism is a huge concern for all of
the people of our country. I think the United States needs to have better background checks and
investigations on immigrants before letting them into our country, and we need to have better online
and phone security from the government so they can weed out threatening individuals that are already
in the U.S. Without more security, organizations like ISIS or self radicals may extremely harm our

researched topics include the effects of the Critical Period on second language learners, age of
acquisition, age of onset, and individual differences (i.e. L1, motivation, aptitude) (Gass, 2013). Even
though it is possible to find a wide variety of research on L2 acquisition, researchers are still debating
on which elements affect learners more. Furthermore, while there is plenty of research on gender
differences in the field of first language acquisition, there seems to be a lack of studies on said topic in
regards to learning a second language. For said reason this research paper will focus on gender and
first language influences on English as a second language acquisition, with the goal to comprehend
whether one, both or neither of those factors contributes or hinders L2 acquisition and why.
Furthermore, the current research paper is a follow up of Chiamenti (2016).

Hieronymus Bosch
In the era of Reformation and late Renaissance, Hieronymus Bosch created a painting call The
Creation of Eve: The Garden of Earthly Delights . During this time, Bosh made a statement with his
painting about religion coming back. The painting he did depicted how he saw the reformation in his
eyes and how people lost sight of the true meaning of religion. Jeroen van Aeken, or Hieronymus
Bosh which is his professional artist name, was born in Brabant, where present day Netherlands is
located. Bosh was brought into a family of painters and who were also involved of selling art. This
would lead Bosch into the world of art and become a well known renaissance artist. Bosch did not
have a successful early life. The only achievement was getting married to his wife, whom had money
and was interested in art. Bosch would later ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The art Piece the Creation of Eve... is easily a panting that was telling how life was through his eyes.
With the knowledge of the bible about God, Adam, and Eve meeting each other was the first sign of
sin. Being religious, Bosch, knew that in the present , or the middle part of his art piece, that everyone
was sinning and only cared about themselves. That everyone is rejecting the Lord s word and living in
their own paradise. With the knowledge of surrealism paining, he made this piece to look very odd to
others in that time. The reason is because he knew that this technique would bring people together and
realize what is going around the world. Now with the last sections of the painting, Bosch painted it by
experience. The last slot shows a world where it is doomed and destroyed. For Bosch, he has seen this
because he was living in the moment after the dark ages. This influence him to create a dark future
where everything is lost and lonely. Overall, Bosch was giving the people a view on how sin can hurt
humanity. It is his painting that shows that humans will always need

Chickenpox Is A Contagious Disease
Chickenpox is a disease that is predominantly seen amongst children. This disease is highly
contagious and widespread. This is why it is important to quarantine a person with chickenpox right
away in a sense. It is important that a person is not near someone with chickenpox. Any kind of direct
contact with a person that has never contracted chickenpox will immediately make the person
susceptible to getting chickenpox right away.
Chicken pox is a disease of the skin that makes the person get crusty pustules all over their body that
continuously itch. Chickenpox is a contagious disease that spreads rampantly through direct contact. It
is important that the person who is dealing with chickenpox to get a special cream to minimize the
itch. The cream should also dry up the pustules that should be getting bigger at first and with the
cream getting smaller in the end. Many years ago, children could die from chicken pox if it was
extreme. The cure did not come easily. The skin scarring was very prevalent since the designated
creams to fix this condition were not predominant as yet.
A chickenpox outbreak would be the most prevalent in a school where diseases are bred and
contracted readily. This disease can be in someone s body manifesting itself and not even be visually
recognizable. A person can be spreading the disease rampantly till it becomes visible and then the
person is known to be quarantined. Adults can

Favelas In Brazil Research Paper
Favelas in Brazil have always had a somewhat rough background in getting along with outsiders.
Meaning drug lords, gangs, and occasional gun shootouts with the police. There is no doubt that it is a
dangerous area to be in. Though you d expect the people living there to want to leave to get out of that
situation. It is actually quite different they like where they re at. None of them really mind where they
are and favelas support a total of 1.5 million people, which is about 24% of the population in Brazil.
Though living in one is also a close resemblance to slum life, or an overcrowded area, occupied by
very poor people. There are some that are seen as a more high functioning, and have been developing
in new and extraordinary ways. Favelas do indeed have a darker side. Since they are such tight space
with so many people, this area, have become a popular spot for crimes, and for drugs. Most are ruled
by drug lords. Who traffic cocaine, and encourage gang violence. The government brought in military
force to try to help with this, with a high success in 2010. The protection is slowly deteriorating, as

Persuasive Essay On Football Predictionss
There are a lot of people who rely on football predictions to be able to gain an edge in football
gambling. But how exactly are these predictions formulated?
Before you do anything else (before you put any money at stake) make sure that you know what you
re doing and what you re getting into. If you really want to get into football gambling, it would be best
if you would read about the subject matter first before you start betting on any team.
The internet is teeming with information on the subject. You can search for articles and websites that
would be able to help you learn more about the subject. This would also let you in on some tricks of
the trade. The more knowledge that you have the more chances you get of making a good bet. Also,
you will be steered away from false information or money scalpers online. And of course, that would

These predictions would tell them about what exactly could happen in the next game. Based on these
predictions, they can then place a wager on the team that they think would win. Of course, nobody can
really predict the outcome of a game. Handicappers, or people who give game predictions, tell their
clients that there are no guarantees that their predictions are really going to happen. So it will be up to
you if you re going to bet according to their predictions.
These handicappers are taking a great deal of effort and putting in a lot of time to study each and every
player s move. They also take a look at the teams performances. The handicapper bases his predictions
about the outcome of the game on these factors. They would do a matchup of the team s strengths and
weaknesses and also take into consideration their performance in the previous games. It really is a

Massage Therapy Is So Popular Today
Massage therapy is so popular today. Looking in any yellow pages will give proof that. Evidently,
more and more people are training to get into the field. The pay is pretty good, considering that in
Tennessee, good massage therapists get anywhere from $50 to $100 and hour for their work. A half
hour will give you around $30 $50. This isn t bad, but people need to consider what s involved and the
expenses that are inevitably going to be incurred. Massage therapy is really for strong people who
have good hands. Because the arms and hands are so intensely used, there will be constant strain on
these areas. It s best to know that any occupation involving repetitive movement stands a high chance
of damaging nerves or muscles in the part of the body used the most. Many training schools also teach
self therapy and exercises to minimize that risk. Nobody can predict arthritis, but that may be one side
effect of continued flexing of the muscles of the hands. Naturally, its not wise to get into this business
if one has any problems with those parts of the body. Cost has to be considered. A good massage
school costs money and time. Massage school can take two years to complete, combined with ongoing
training necessary for keeping up the certification. Certification alone incurs a yearly fee. People
getting into any profession also need to keep careful books so as to balance their profits against
expenses. They can deduct the maximum for the oils, equipment, music tapes, books,

Helen In The Odyssey
The relationship between the male and the female is by nature such that the male is higher, the female
lower, This very sexism and politically incorrect statement came from the mouth of the famous
Aristotle from ancient Greece. People from ancient Greece commonly associated women inferior to
men and women s role only belonged in the house and with the children with no political activity. In
contrast to this stereotype, Homer, though his book the Iliad, demonstrated women such as
Andromache, Brises and Helen playing an enormous role for the Trojans, Achaean and the major war
itself through their presents in the lives of the protagonist which change the outcome of the war
completely.
To begin with, Andromache played a major role in the Iliad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, many could argue that even though Helen s capture resulted in a war, the blame does not
fall on her because Pairs lust drove him into steeling her, therefore blaming the war on man and his
lust and not the women behind it. Others could believe also that the honor and glory drove him into
the battle and not the safety of his wife, which then also takes away from the women contributing
towards that war. Overall, there arise different reasons why some argue that women did not play a
huge role in the Iliad and the whole story revolves around the men.
Women play an enormous role in the Iliad and even though they do not actually fight in the war their
presents in the lives of the protagonist change the war completely. Their roles, though small from line
to line, had huge impacts on the war overall. From Hector s love for Andromache who fought for the
Trojans nonmatter what, and Achilles not fighting for the Achaeans because of Brises, to Paris capture
of Helen that started the whole war Homer really emphases these women s role and influence in the

Social Construction Of Gender By Lorber
Although still problematic, gender roles constructed by society and cultures have progressed
throughout the years, not as much as hoped but in small ways. The social and cultural construction of
gender in definition means the construction of gender roles created by others that determine their
behaviors and develop standards based on their sex. In the article Social Construction of Gender by
Lorber the author demonstrates the social and cultural construction of gender stating, Yet in Western
societies, we see two discrete sexes and two distinguishable genders because our society is built on
two classes of people, women and men . Once the gender category is given the attributes of the person
are also gendered.... (Lorber, 11). In the poem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It could be seen in many perspectives how the social and cultural construction of gender are being
developed. Women and men are often being told what they should or shouldn t do. Being molded into
something society wants and favors. It s all developed through interactions with the media, in school,
with family, whether it s direct or not, it creates a huge impact on women. In the reading, it states For
men in Western societies, physical competence is an important marker of masculinity (Lorber, 12 ).
This goes to show how in different cultural settings there are expectations that mark the gender you
identify with. Culture makes a huge impact on the way a person looks or speaks. Being a strong
person could be known as attractive in a certain era or area of the world, however, being extremely
pale could be an attractive feature to have. This process interestingly affects the person and makes
them do exactly what society wants them to do. Whether it s an unconscious or a conscious decision.

wants it to be. She demonstrates a perfect example of how women could easily be shaped and

While sitting between two of the best speech coaches in Northwest Iowa, I felt my heart race as they

Km and 5,000 sq. Km allocated 6 Kits · Wards with above 5,000 sq. Km allocated 8 Kits. Since Wards
are different in sizes, even within counties, the analysis of distribution at the county level or regional
level will not provide a representation of a fair conclusion on the spread. For instance, Kilifi County
has 35 Wards of varying sizes but threeWards (Ganze 5,427 sq. km; Bamba 1,532.70; Marafa and
686.90 sq. km.) account for 62% of the entire area of Kilifi County. This means that the three Wards
will get between 6 8 kits and yet the majority of the remaining Wards will receive four kits each. In
the case of Bomet County, the total number of Wards falling within the second category of 31 500 sq.
km is 25. This entitles Bomet to a total of 100 kits using the formula. The concerns that the population
of the unregistered issued with IDs is low and therefore Bomet does not deserve the number of kits is
clearly misleading. Because issuance of IDs is dynamic and the baseline might change at any given

The Theory Of Knowledge And Power
INTRODUCTION Post Foucauldian theory of knowledge and power, knowledge has been used as a
synonym for power. In 21st century they are considered as two sides of the same coin. Power gives an
individual the ability to make others obey in a social relationship irrespective of the basis. As per
Foucault power is not only brutal physical force rather an invisible form of network that operates. At
times, the operator has no knowledge of this invisible power which controls others. Similarly,
knowledge is defined as a belief of an individual or society which is right and justified with a logical
explanation. Thus, the assumption that is not true can t be quantified as a knowledge. Belief that is
true doesn t qualify as knowledge. It must be explained in order to be called as knowledge. How the
belief is justified has been debated over 2000 years by different scholars, radical writers and
philosophers and yet to receive a consensus. The relationship between knowledge and power was
established by Michael Foucault in a more explorative way as compared to his previous counterparts.
According to him knowledge and power both shares a healthy relationship in a continuous manner. As
per Foucault s theory power develops through feed of knowledge and in turn power generates
knowledge. This method based upon assumption knowledge changes with time. For example new
discourse leads to new knowledge (Ball, 2013). Thus, a society that has gained power through
knowledge has the power to direct

Mao Zedong Analysis Inorder for a revolution to occur, it is essential to have a leader the revolutionaries can unite under; a leader as persistent as Mao Zedong. Mao s birth into the peasant class taught him about the rigid social structures of China at a young age, as he recognized the strife peasants endured on a daily basis. He knew how they thought and emphasized with their thirst for equity in China s rigid social society (Calkins). As Mao grew older, his recognition of the oppressed class allowed him to develop an affinity towards the principles of Marxism Leninism, which were utilized in restoring China to its original greatness (Zedong qtd in Lynch 4). Mao believed that the peasants fury and desperation was powerful enough to spark a communist revolution, leading to equality and justice in China (Lynch 3). The peasants who were mistreated for so long rose to the occasion of Mao s advocating for their rights. His popularity and influence among the masses of China was increased. Mao rose to power by 1949 through increased peasantry support, giving him the authorization to change China into a communist country. Prior to the Second Chinese Civil War, Mao gained the loyalty of the oppressed class through presenting his ideology in a flattering fashion. Mao allowed his followers to know he recognized their strife, and taught them the importance of confidence and violence in a revolution. Radiation Physics PersonalStatement I am applying to the Radiation Health Physics graduate program of study at OSU. I have been a high school Physics, Mathematics, and Engineering teacher for nearly the past 10 years. My personal experiences in education have helped shape my vision and practices at a small, rural school district in Western Pennsylvania. Conceptions Of Justice Manyof the most important aspects of and decisions about social organization hinge on an individual or society s conception of justice. Because this conception of justice has tremendous influence over the way societies are structured, political theorists interested in understanding and improving society place great importance on understanding and articulating the nature of justice. The video starts with V falling backwards into dark water. The water acts as a mirror in this case, showing him fall from one side of the mirror into the other. There are shots of him struggling underwater throughout the video as well. After that, Rap Monster is featured visiting the train tracks where the group was seen together. In this video, his would be considered the present time. When he opens the door to one of the train cars, he starts a flashback to times when the group was having fun. Although the specific order is not abundantly clear, one can infer that at least Suga dies before Jungkook. American Homefront DuringWorld War II Essay The American home front during World War II is recalled warmly in popular memory and cultural myth as a time of unprecedented national unity, years in which Americans stuck together in common cause. World War II brought many new ideas and changes to American life. Even though World War II brought no physical destruction to the United States mainland, it did affect American society. Every aspect of American life was altered by U.S. involvement in the war including demographics, the labor force, economics and cultural trends. During the Great Depression, the American birth rate had fallen to an all time low due to delayed marriages and parenthood. The climate and scenery appealed to many servicemen that had been stationed in the West, and after the war many relocated there permanently with their families. During the 1940 s wartime production required more factory workers. With the majority of males being enlisted into the military and the work force depleted, minorities and women found many opportunities during the war. For most, involvement became an adventure, a way that every citizen could feel he or she was making an important contribution to the war effort (Duis, 20). While most women were married, they worked to keep themselves busy while the males were off at war. Prior to the war only about one fourth of women worked outside of the home (Bard, 173). By 1945, women made up 36% of the nation s total workforce (Schultz). After the war, women were advised to leave work and continue their more traditional role of wife and mother. African Americans improved their economical standing by accepting war industry positions and through their migration from the south; some became professionals and skilled workers, yet still facing harsh discrimination. There was a high commitment of immigrant workers to the war effort that participated heavily in war bond and scrap metal collection drives. Like African Americans, these immigrants were also subjected to racial prejudice. But overall, America enjoyed full employment and a higher standard of living ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Synopsis Of StorytellingGames Alex Ingles Dr. Liane Ritchey Sillet AWR 201 A 6/12/2016 Thesis: Storytelling in games gives the gamers the opportunity to be involved in the game, experience the characters, stimulate feelings like fear and excitement and let the player know they make situations happen and the choices they make affect the outcome as well as motivate them to continue on. Background: After reading parts of The Storytelling Animal, it was clear that storytelling is in everything. As an avid videogame player it was evident that many of the games that people play, like Battlefield, have a storyline. After reading articles from the Proquest database like From Computer Games to Interactive stories, a plan was developing about games and stories. Other thoughts on the thesis were whether video games have stories and traits of their own and should these games have a storyline, especially since it is a game. After researching and a discussion about this topic with the professor, it was decided to do the first thesis idea. The topic is extensive in gaming articles and magazines. Gamers on both sides have an opinion. It seemed that most of the articles read dealt with stories and games rather than just gameplay. An article by Jan Simons in Game Studies discusses the narrative theory extensively as well as the ludology and narratology side. The Reform ActAnd The Municipal Act The legislation passed in 1832, known as the Great Reform Act , was viewed as a breakthrough in terms of reforming parliament due to it being the first of its kind. The legislation brought newly enfranchised towns and cities into the fold, removed rotten boroughs and created a consistency in voting all of which had been a problem for parliament previously. However many have argued to the length that this legislation extended to and have countered that the legislation passed following 1832 was merely a slow progression towards full reform in the 20th century. These acts still left working men without a vote and franchise was based on property rather than tax paying. This would suggest to why there was so much disappointment from these acts as a result, as they simply did not go far enough to reach the expectations that came with them. This essay will demonstrate why there was such a sense of anticlimax with the legislation itself, as well as expanding upon the acts that were passed after 1832 such as the second Great Reform Act and the Municipal act. All of which brought further reform and change that was originally expected with the Great Reform Act in 1832. The great sense of disappointment stemmed from the idea that the Great Reform Act did not address the issues that were problematic in this period to the full extent they should have. A large factor was that of the working class and how they could not vote if they did not meet certain property requirements or pay the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Classical Archaeology ResearchPaper Classical Archaeology Exam Essay Throughout history seemingly unrelated objects or ideas can be brought together and connected in the most extraordinary ways. Many philosophers believe that everything in the world is connected and intertwined in some way, shape, or form. These principles can be applied to many subjects including archaeology. The scene of Ajax on the Francois krater can be linked to Polyklietos s Doryphoros by applying them both to the fundamentals of evolution. Both pieces are a major turning point in art for Greece. They took the best parts of their predecessor s pieces and furthered them, like evolution. The Doryphoros completely changed the way that the Greeks composed the body position of their sculptures. The Greeks started out creating sculptures in the same bland form as the Egyptians, with the Korus. There are many of these sculptures, but Polyklietos took the foundations and basic themes of the Korus and revolutionized the body position. All he did was change the balance of the sculpture; he tilted the hips and shoulders and changed the leg position a little. This small difference made the sculpture more lifelike and more realistic. The Consequences OfHard Rock And The Bloody Sunday Marchers All those who marched in Selma, Alabama during Bloody Sunday took beatings and risked their lives to allow African American and minorities to vote in the South. Hard Rock and the Bloody Sunday marchers faced very harsh consequences from their authority for taking actions against them. Both were willing to face these harsh punishments for their action against their authority. For their actions, they are beloved and serves inspiration to many. Hard Rock and the Bloody Sunday marchers faced severe consequences from their authority for fighting against them. For example, Hard Rock spent 67 days in solitary confinement for smacking the captain (authority) with the dinner tray as said in lines 17 19 Yeah, remember when he Smacked the captain with his dinner tray? He set the record for time in the Hole 67 straight days! Like him, the Selma marchers during Bloody Sunday had been the victim of abuse for not dispersing in front of the Edmund Pettus Bridge as ordered by Governor George Wallace (authority). As a result, the state troopers (authority) brutally attacked the peaceful protestors, including US Representative John Lewis, who sustained a fractured skull (Jones). Hard Rock and the Bloody Sunday marchers were willing to put themselves up to face the vicious consequences from their authority because of their fight against their authority. As said in the poem in lines 1 6 Hard Rock was known not to take no shit from nobody, and he had the scars to prove it: split purple lips, lumped ears, welts above his yellow eyes, and one long scar that cut across his temple and plowed through a thick canopy of his kinky hair which he received for fighting against his authority in prison. Similarly, to Hard Rock, the SCLC knew they were possibly going to get hurt with actions they were going to take. If you lived in an apartment next to the building in which you work, the risk involved in getting to work on time is many times lower than that facing a person with a 20 mile commute involving driving to the station, getting kids to school, taking a pre work study course and public transport. The second process in risk management is the process of Risk Reduction, Minimization or Containment. This process involves planning and action to reduce the risks and, if that is not possible, to introduce strategies to minimize the impact of failure. To manage the risks in our commute, we could reduce risk by moving closer to work, obtaining flexible working hours or undertaking community and political action to improve public transport. According to the text book, terrorism is defined as a systematic attempt to inspire fear to gain political ends, typically involving the indiscriminate use of violence against noncombatants. Terrorist attacks is definately not new to the U.S. In 2001, al Qaeda lauched an attack on New York s World Trade Center. The attack killed thousands of Americans, and put the country in a state of panic and scare. One reason for this attack was that Islamics were angered that the U.S had troops on the soil of Saudi Arabia, which was regarded as sacred. Groups such as al Qaeda are extremely violent, and will not be negotiated with for peace. Recently, we have had several terrorist attacks including the Boston Marathon bombing, Muslim shooting at Fort Hood, and ISIS attacks on soldiers and journalists. Recently, attacks from domestic islamists are a major concern for the U.S. These individuals are self radicalized through beliefs and the internet, rather than being a part of a group. Farook and Malik, of the San Bernardino attacks, are examples of this. In my opinion, terrorism is a huge concern for all of the people of our country. I think the United States needs to have better background checks and investigations on immigrants before letting them into our country, and we need to have better online and phone security from the government so they can weed out threatening individuals that are already in the U.S. Without more security, organizations like ISIS or self radicals may extremely harm our country and kill many of the people in ... The Importance OfThe First And Second Language Acquisition First and second language acquisition have been a topic of interest in linguistics for decades. Researchers have been approaching these topics from many points of view, angles, and models (Gass, 2013). Regarding second language acquisition, and especially English as a second language, the most researched topics include the effects of the Critical Period on second language learners, age of acquisition, age of onset, and individual differences (i.e. L1, motivation, aptitude) (Gass, 2013). Even though it is possible to find a wide variety of research on L2 acquisition, researchers are still debating on which elements affect learners more. Furthermore, while there is plenty of research on gender differences in the field of first language acquisition, there seems to be a lack of studies on said topic in regards to learning a second language. For said reason this research paper will focus on gender and first language influences on English as a second language acquisition, with the goal to comprehend whether one, both or neither of those factors contributes or hinders L2 acquisition and why. Furthermore, the current research paper is a follow up of Chiamenti (2016). The pay is pretty good, considering that in Tennessee, good massage therapists get anywhere from $50 to $100 and hour for their work. A half hour will give you around $30 $50. This isn t bad, but people need to consider what s involved and the expenses that are inevitably going to be incurred. Massage therapy is really for strong people who have good hands. Helen In TheOdyssey The relationship between the male and the female is by nature such that the male is higher, the female lower, This very sexism and politically incorrect statement came from the mouth of the famous Aristotle from ancient Greece. The social and cultural construction of gender in definition means the construction of gender roles created by others that determine their behaviors and develop standards based on their sex. In the article Social Construction of Gender by Lorber the author demonstrates the social and cultural construction of gender stating, Yet in Western societies, we see two discrete sexes and two distinguishable genders because our society is built on two classes of people, women and men . Once the gender category is given the attributes of the person are also gendered.... (Lorber, 11). In the poem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It could be seen in many perspectives how the social and cultural construction of gender are being developed. Women and men are often being told what they should or shouldn t do. Being molded into something society wants and favors. It s all developed through interactions with the media, in school, with family, whether it s direct or not, it creates a huge impact on women. In the reading, it states For men in Western societies, physical competence is an important marker of masculinity (Lorber, 12 ). This goes to show how in different cultural settings there are expectations that mark the gender you identify with. Culture makes a huge impact on the way a person looks or speaks. Being a strong person could be known as attractive in a certain era or area of the world, however, being extremely pale could be an attractive feature to have. This process interestingly affects the person and makes them do exactly what society wants them to do. Whether it s an unconscious or a conscious decision. Piercy, although, uses the actions of the tree being cut and shaped into what the gardener in the story wants it to be. She demonstrates a perfect example of how women could easily be shaped and ... My Observation OfLarge Group Speech At The Iowa State... While sitting between two of the best speech coaches in Northwest Iowa, I felt my heart race as they began announcing the Critic s Choice Award for the ten different areas of large group speech. The atmosphere was that of the Academy Awards in CY Stephens Auditorium at Iowa State University for the 31st IHSSAAll State Large Group Speech Festival on Saturday, February 18. Students sat on the main level of the packed auditorium while family and friends filled the balcony. As I glanced over at Joel Stauffer and Todd McDonald, I realized there was no other place I would rather be. Our choral reading, Wild at Heart earned a chance to perform at the festival. The only times our school has won a banner was in 1991 for the ensemble, Night Mother under the direction of Mr. McDonald and in 1981 for duet acting. Earning a banner is a hard thing to do. There are no classes in speech competition; all 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A schools are grouped together. According to the Iowa ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He told us there was no question about it. Everything felt like a whirlwind as we made our way up to the stage in front of thousands of people. As I nervously stood on stage, I took the time to look at each of my speech kids, sitting there celebrating their success. This was definitely a team accomplishment. I thought about the 104 students who participated in sixteen groups this year and all of the students who have touched my heart in previous years. I also thought of my time serving as an assistant coach to an amazing head coach, Joel Stauffer. I smiled as I thought about all the times Todd McDonald made me laugh aloud during practices this year. I reminisced about my time working with an awesome coach, Tracy Jacobsma. I realized how blessed I am to have the opportunity to work with such wonderful students, parents, teachers, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Biometric Voter RegistrationCase Study Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has defended the formula used to distribute the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits for the ongoing mass voter registration exercise. The commission on Friday sent a press release to the media seeking to give a clarification on concerns raised by sections of the public on the ongoing exercise. The statement by IEBC s Communications Corporate Affairs Manager Tabitha Mutemi has clarified that the allocation of BVR machines was based on the lowest electoral unit, which is the County Assembly Ward (CAW), and the number of kits assigned according to size, taking into consideration ease of access to the kit by potential voters. ...The allocation was based on the lowest electoral unit, which is the County ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Km and 5,000 sq. Km allocated 6 Kits · Wards with above 5,000 sq. Km allocated 8 Kits. Since Wards are different in sizes, even within counties, the analysis of distribution at the county level or regional level will not provide a representation of a fair conclusion on the spread. For instance, Kilifi County has 35 Wards of varying sizes but threeWards (Ganze 5,427 sq. km; Bamba 1,532.70; Marafa and 686.90 sq. km.) account for 62% of the entire area of Kilifi County. This means that the three Wards will get between 6 8 kits and yet the majority of the remaining Wards will receive four kits each. In the case of Bomet County, the total number of Wards falling within the second category of 31 500 sq. km is 25. This entitles Bomet to a total of 100 kits using the formula. The concerns that the population of the unregistered issued with IDs is low and therefore Bomet does not deserve the number of kits is clearly misleading. Because issuance of IDs is dynamic and the baseline might change at any given time depending on government policy, the Commission decided it was prudent to use a more static variable that infuses equity across the country... read the statement by IEBC in ... The Theory OfKnowledge And Power INTRODUCTION Post Foucauldian theory of knowledge and power, knowledge has been used as a synonym for power. In 21st century they are considered as two sides of the same coin. Power gives an individual the ability to make others obey in a social relationship irrespective of the basis. As per Foucault power is not only brutal physical force rather an invisible form of network that operates. At times, the operator has no knowledge of this invisible power which controls others. Similarly, knowledge is defined as a belief of an individual or society which is right and justified with a logical explanation. Thus, the assumption that is not true can t be quantified as a knowledge. Belief that is true doesn t qualify as knowledge. It must be explained in order to be called as knowledge. How the belief is justified has been debated over 2000 years by different scholars, radical writers and philosophers and yet to receive a consensus. The relationship between knowledge and power was established by Michael Foucault in a more explorative way as compared to his previous counterparts. According to him knowledge and power both shares a healthy relationship in a continuous manner. As per Foucault s theory power develops through feed of knowledge and in turn power generates knowledge. This method based upon assumption knowledge changes with time. For example new discourse leads to new knowledge (Ball, 2013). Thus, a society that has gained power through knowledge has the power to direct ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
