Cultural Analysis Paper
Cultural Analysis Paper
No matter how hard we try, or how much we study, it is pretty much impossible to become an expert
on all the world s cultures. It is possible however, to be enlightened on a few cultures through some
effort and understanding. That is just what we did, through interviewing three people who were raised
in cultures different from ours. The following are results from what we learned about different cultural
dimensions.
GENDER EGALITARIANISM
Gender egalitarianism, as defined in the Globe study, measures societies beliefs about whether
members biological sex should determine the roles that they play in their homes, business
organizations, and communities. This can be made seen in attitudinal domains, as well as ... Show

We asked her how her country differed from what she has experienced in the US. She described how
she envisioned everyone in the US being rich and no poor people. She was shocked to see how
different it really was. Even though she could not speak English she could tell this place was
immensely different from El Salvador. Yes many people are rich here but they have lost so much more
than they have gained and they don t even know it. To Ana, family is the most important thing to have;
she sees a lot of Americans giving up family time to pursue other worldly things . We found it
interesting that Ana was able to identify our individualistic ways without even knowing how to
communicate with most of the people here.
HIGH POWER DISTANCE For the final two dimensions, we interviewed a Chinese transfer student
named Cong Feng (Lisa), who has only been here for six months. Due to the little amount of time
spent here, our first issue was a fairly tough language barrier, which prohibited us from receiving any
sort of detailed or complex answers, but the sufficed enough to draw some understanding. The
Hofstede Cultural Dimensions defines high power distance as the extent to which the less powerful
members of organizations and institutions accept and expect that power is distributed unequally

Short Story Samuel By Grace Paley
Samuel Death is an inevitable event. Most times we have no control over how or when it will happen
and in the short story, Samuel, by Grace Paley, a young boy loses his life while he and his friends
partake in a very dangerous game. An unfortunate situation, it was and it leaves you to ask yourself
the question Who s to blame? After thoroughly reading the story, it becomes quite clear that though
the boys were taking a huge risk and acting childish, they were just kids being kids and the people
surrounding them could have done more to help them. The onlookers couldn t have known what
would happen, but they also didn t do much to prevent such a tragedy. The four young boys in the
story Samuel are acting careless and risky as they think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among the people watching was a group of ladies who were very angry as they watched the boys.
Most of them looked stern in the face, hoping that the boys would sense their extreme disapproval.
One of the ladies stated she wanted to get up and say, be careful you dumb kids, get off that platform
or I ll call a cop. But then decided against it because they boys were Black and she was afraid they
would laugh at her and embarrass her. Another lady figured the kid s mothers knew where they were
so she didn t feel the need to intrude. With no interference from anyone the boys continued on playing
around and the train began to slow down and as it was slowing down the lady who was afraid of
embarrassment, saw the boys jerk forward and backward and grab the swinging guard chains. The
lady then decided it was finally time to save the boys for good so she stood up determined as ever and
went over to the boys and said, You boys will be hurt. You ll be killed. I m going to call the conductor
if you don t just go into the next car and sit down and be quiet. Listening to the lady two of the boys
said Yes m and acted as if they were about to go. The other two boys just looked at her and blinked
their eyes. Moments later just, as she suspected the boys began laughing at her and she was just as
embarrassed as she thought she would be. Fed up by this time, one

Pre-College Personal Statement
Pre College
I was raised by two Asian immigrants, I spent most of my childhood with strict life expectations. My
parents cared about pushing me to become a doctor and with that academic success. I rebelled most of
it only seeing it as a negative in my life.
That kind of lifestyle made me look at academics as a negative while games are positive. My parents
did not have the same look for those as I did. That being the case, I hid all traces to gaming from them
and only showed them my lacking academic side. I received okay grades, B s and C s, up until high
school when I received my first A in a computer science course.
Computer science became my passion. The positivity I received fueled my passion for computer
science. The shift from being berated to commended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They thought the only way to learn was from a book. They did not believe that computer science
could be a stable, successful career compared a medical career. That mentality led me to apply as a
biology major.
My first quarter at UCR was filled with chemistry and biology classes. I persuaded my parents to
allow me to take a computer science course. I loved that class. I did well in that class. It was the class I
looked forward to after my chemistry and biology classes. I switched majors after that quarter to
computer science.
College
I am passionate about computer science. Computer science is a field I can be creative and meaningful.
I can create a program in x amount of time which can save people xn amount of time. The return on
investment is great and the smiles are a plus.
I continue through computer science even, though it can be hard at points because of those smiles. The
programs that I make can be shared with those around the word. The cost of production is near zero; I
don t have to worry about getting funding to prototype. I can create a solution to a real world problem
very easily and very cheaply.

Gender Bias On The Classroom
Gender Bias In The Classroom Gender roles are widely accepted societal expectations about how
males and females should behave (Rathus, 2010, pg. 447). Gender roles create a difference in the way
that masculine and feminine behaviors are accepted among society. Gender roles are often depicted as
just a part of who a person is and help better define the difference between male and female. When
society begins to use these gender roles as norms we often see those who don t fit into the correct role
become ostracized by society. When these gender roles become rigid they can become gender
stereotypes. These stereotypes are fixed and oversimplified beliefs about the way in which men and
women ought to behave (Rathus, 2010, pg. 447). One of the most common gender stereotypes is that
men are the breadwinners and women are the homemakers. These stereotypes also carry into emotions
as well, women being more likely to feel sadness, fear and sympathy, while men are more likely to
feel anger and pride. Another area where gender stereotypes can be observed is in the work place with
women taking jobs such as nursing and teaching, and men holding jobs in fields like medicine and
law. (Rathus, 2010, pg. 447). There are many physical, cognitive, personality, and behavioral
differences between genders. Physically men and women have different primary and secondary sex
characteristics. The primary sex characteristics are the organs of the reproductive system where
women have ovaries and men

The point of view changes throughout the book. There is an omniscient point of view, but the book
also gives Claudia MacTeer s point of view. There are many other characters that give their point of
view throughout the story, but other than Claudia; the other main point of view given is Pecola
Breedlove s point of view. This story revolves around the end of the Great Depression. It begins
describing the family as being a poorer black family. Claudia and Frieda MacTeer have to collect coal
for their old home. The MacTeer family was gaining to two new borders due to their poor home

Superheroes In Watchmen
Watchmen is different from most superhero stories. For instance, the superheroes in Watchmen can be
considered outcast, unenjoyed by the people of the city. They have a much different reputation from
other superheroes we hear about, such as Batman and Superman. For example, this outcast theme is
seen when the citizens of the city throw shade at Dr. Manhattan for causing cancer (Moore 89 91), and
the constant fear when Rorschach appears (Moore 23). Furthermore, the government passed a law that
forbids them from existing in their superhero state. In other words, they are not glorified as seen in
other superhero depictions. After reading and seeing this within the first chapters of the graphic novel,
we must ask ourselves: Are the characters of

Chronic Myeloid Leukemia
Regarding our recent inquiry as to the viability of an Abl Bcr inhibitor and the marketability thereof, it
is of prudent management to discern the separation between our drug candidate and those drugs
currently existing in the market, and evaluating the ease of development as well as long term payoffs
of said inhibitor. First, however, an introduction to chronic myeloid leukemia, its symptoms and
diagnoses, as well as current treatments, is in order. In better understanding the disease, we can more
properly evaluate our proposed treatment.
Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), as with all leukemia, is a cancer of the blood cells, in which
normal/healthy cells are replaced by malignant cells. CML occurs through a specific chromosomal

If the patient is required to take more doses with CSU 001, but to only pay the same relative amount,
then each of those doses would have to individually cost less than Gleevec. Thus, if the individual cost
to the patient is less, it would in turn lead us to require that the individual cost of development per
dose be less than Gleevec. If this can be achieved, and the cost of development per dose of CSU 001 is
less than Gleevec in proportion to the number of doses taken, then there should be no discrepancy
between development and marketing via the dosage required.
CSU 001 will be priced at approximately $25,000 per year. Requiring a budget of $150 million to

The Baroque And Classical Periods
The Baroque and Classical periods are where we see the emergence of renowned composers like
Handel, Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart and Beethoven. The music from these famous composers are some of
the world s most recognizable and beautiful classics of all time. Music of these eras are still being
used in many of today s movies and commercials. Musical characteristics developed from these eras
are still used and heard presently in popular music.
The art of the Baroque period was very colorful and dramatic, which translated into the music created
at the time. The idea of being very expressive and embellishing in detail would lead to the
development of opera. Opera is a dramatic play that is acted out through music. In opera, a soloist
must be able to act and sing out the mood of the text or libretto. This expressive singing accompanied
by a bass line or basso continuo is called monody. This idea of a new texture would feature the
distinction between the high voice that carries one melody and the low voice or bass. The
accompanying bass line was played by harpsichord with the addition of a bassoon or cello (Wright 6
3a,6 3b).
Claudio Monteverdi, who is considered an originator of opera who composed the earliest example of
the genre called Orfeo. Based on ancient Greek mythology, which was the initial intention of opera,
Orfeo is a drama about the mythical Greek god Orpheus. To rescue his bride Euridice, he goes down
to Hades. In the prologue of Orfeo which is Del mio Permesso amato , the Greek muse La Música sets
the stage for the drama. At first hearing La Música sing, her melodic voice captures my ears and
attention, like letting me know to listen up . As was Monteverdi s intention, I can hear how the
harmony is the same while the melody changes throughout. The melismatic singing that accentuates
certain words emphasize the importance of setting the mood of the opera (Wright, 6 3c).
A great interest in hearing only instrumental music tell the story without text arise. The development
of the concerto grosso which is a small unit of soloists against a full orchestra (Wright, 7 4) brought
about one of the most popular and recognized concerto pieces, Vivaldi s Violin Concerto in E Major
(the Spring). As one of

Illegal Immigrants Inside Our Nations Border
In 2012, a recent study found that there was nearly 11 million illegal immigrants inside our nations
border. This has been a recurring problem going on since the late 19th century when the federal law
was passed which prohibited entry of convicts and prostitutes. Although this isn t the case of everyone
crossing our nations borders, it is still a national problem. Not allowing more people to infiltrate our
country will provide americans with more jobs , will lower the incarceration rates, and will allow
american tax dollars to be spent elsewhere. Illegal immigration laws have been around dating back to
the late 19th century. In 1882 President Chester A. Arthur banned almost all Chinese s immigration to
the United States and shortly thereafter barred paupers, criminals and the mentally ill from entering as
well. Although this only affected a small percentage of immigrants, there was now distinctions
between legal and illegal immigration, which before there little to no regulation. Ellis Island, the
portal of immigrants was, which allowed nearly 23½ millions immigrants to pour into america legally.
This number was dramatically lowered due to the Quota Law that reduced it to 357,000 a year and
limited the number of immigrants from any one country. Which was reduced more and more
throughout the years. However, the door was left open for Mexicans who could work for less pay than
the northern europeans. But it was not to last, as seen in prior decades, after the 1965 Immigration

Because Good Hotel has demonstrated positive gains and performance I do not feel expansion is a

Discontinue Current Operations:
Lastly, there is sufficient data to support continued operations therefore; to discontinue operations I
feel would not be wise. JdV has found a niche market who is willing to pay the increased cost to visit

Martin Luther And John Calvin Views On Sinful People
Martin Luther and John Calvin Views on Sinful People
Justification by faith (Sola Fide), the core value of the Reformation, is the belief that
righteousness from God is a recompense for sinner s accounts through faith alone. The sixteenth
century movement for the reform of abuses in the Roman Catholic Church resulted in the
establishment of the Reformed and Protestant Churches. Reformers like Martin Luther and John
Calvin were two of the most significant figures in the history of The Reformation. They both
proclaimed Justification as the main subject of the gospel of God s grace. They were well
acknowledged for their common doctrines of salvation as the deliverance from sin and its
consequences. They believed that to be brought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To compare Martin Luther s and John Calvin s view on the subject of a sinful person, I
thoroughly looked into their common doctrines and considered how they differ in implementing
the rules that manage their ideology. I was able to conclude that even though Luther and Calvin
shared similar doctrines, their conceptualization and interpretation of those doctrines is very
different. Based on their opinions of sinners, I further realized that not only do they have divergent
interpretations of similar doctrines, but they also have different ambitions and their personalities
are extreme opposites.
Luther often blamed the flesh, which Protestants refer to as our sinful nature (they
believed is the cause of human impurities), for the sins of every human and he gave credit to the
Spirit for every good things that man does. The Reformers and the Protestants believe that there
are two types of spirits: the Holy Spirit, which they proclaim to be the spirit of God, and the human
spirit, which is the part of humans that opens up to the spirit of God. The spirit that is often
refereed to when talking about the flesh is the human spirit (what does the Bible mean by the
flesh by Msgr. Charles Pope). We might argue that Luther is trying not to be judgmental, that he
acknowledged the fact that efforts to live a sin
free life is a mere dream, and the best approach to

A Reasonable Explanation For Closed End Fund Puzzles
1.Introduction
Stock mutual funds consist of open end funds and closed end funds. There are different operations
between these two funds. Open end funds are purchased and sold by investors directly, however,
investors should purchase and sell closed end fund via stock market, then stock market trade with
closed end funds. Closed end funds characteristics decide that investors should sell closed end funds
to another investors, once they want to switch funds to liquidity. The price of closed end funds always
meets some aberrant circumstances, which are called closed end fund puzzles.
Closed end fund puzzles summarize four abnormal phenomenons which occur in funds price. Lee,
Shleifer and Thaler (1991) state that three elements (agency costs, tax liabilities and illiquidity of
assets) may quote for explanations of these puzzles in traditional finance. Nevertheless, they advocate
that analyzing puzzles base on behaviour finance, such as noise trader risk theory and individual
investor sentiment theory, can expound puzzles better.
This paper aim to find out a more reasonable explanation for closed end fund puzzles. In part one, the
description of puzzles will be given. Traditional standard explanation will be introduced and discussed
in part two. Part three will represent explanation in behaviour finance methods. Part four will compare
different articles evidences and findings. Part five will make conclusions.

Delays And Congestion At Frontier s East
Passenger air travel has been forecasted to increase to over 1 billion persons annually by 2023. This
alone has a great likelihood of negatively impacting airport capacity at several of Frontier Airlines
major hubs due to inefficient runway use. This case study will focus on delays and congestion at
Frontier s east coast hub, Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), and how improvements can
effectively reduce the amount of delayed flights Frontier consistently experiences.
Background
Philadelphia Municipal Airport opened on June 20, 1940 along the banks of the Delaware River. By
year s end, approximately 40,000 passengers travelled through the airport. By 1945, the municipal
airport became Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) courtesy of transatlantic service by American
Overseas Airlines. In the 1960s and 1970s, expansion and modernization paved way for the airport
facility in use today.
Increased popularity of air travel, population growth, and urban development have all contributed to
the increase in congestion and decrease in capacity at PHL over the years. FAA records as far back as
1995 show that PHL ranked consistently as one of the most delayed airports (FAA, 2010). Many of
these delays at PHL have secondary and tertiary effects at the airports to which the originating flights
are destined. Hub and spoke carrier passengers depending on their on time arrival may miss
connecting flights and, at times, additional onward flights, cruises, or other important events.

I learned in this video that a dental hygienist has to be patient and that they have to clean teeth and put

involved as well. Their hours are very flexible and easy to work with. This video showed me that you
have to be a very social person and very good and fast with your hands.
A disadvantage would be that there is not a very wide variety of career expansion. An advantage
would be great salary. It can be very repetitive as a disadvantage. An advantage would be minimal
schooling.

Keller V. Regents Of The University Of California Essay
Keller v. Regents of the University of California There are two questions that this court must answer
today; First, does Keller s speech have First Amendment protections? Second, does the University of
California, Delphi have the ability to restrict such speech? Keller argues that the university violated
his First Amendment rights by attempting to restrict his expression of disfavored views. The university
contends that Keller s actions were disruptive to the learning environment, and thus suspended; not
violating his rights to free speech. To address the first question, Keller had created a political group,

King Richard Essay
King Richard
My report is on Richard I, byname Richard the Lion Hearted. He was born September 8, 1157 in
Oxford, England. He died on April 6, 1199 in Chalus, England. His knightly manner and his prowess
in the Third Crusade(1189 92) made him a popular king in his own time, as well as the hero of
countless romantic legends. He has been viewed less kindly by more recent historians and scholars.
Richard was the third son of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine, and he was given the duchy of
Aquitaine, his mother s inheritance, at the age of 11 and was enthroned as duke at Poitiers in 1172.

Sicily, declared Arthur of Brittany(Richard s nephew)to be his own heir, and provided for Arthur to

My Canoeing Journey
I was never sure I can make it this far I had the knowledge and the drive, then I finally got my
Breakthrough in life. I always wanted to go to college becauses I knew the endless possibilities that
can happen in my life and my family. When I was given an opportunity to increase my chances at
making college I waste a second to take my chance and looking back on 3 summers I made the right
decision. Through reflecting on my times as breakthrough student, I learned that my biggest area of
growth have been dealing with challenges, working with discomfort, and discovering new concepts.
A large area of growth I ve experienced as a breakthrough student has been dealing with challenges.
The most challenging part of the BLP retreat was the canoeing trip. This required patience, strength,
and persistence to make to and from our destination. Through paddling I have gotten move arm
strength, but most importantly I fought the struggle and made it to the island. All in all I used the
persist code battle the tiring activity called canoeing. It has taught me to work through difficult task,
no matter how much I want to quit. Although I had to push myself canoeing helped me expand on my
persistence to real world situation.
Another area of growth I ve experienced is public speaking. The most important thing we worked on
at Breakthrough was using your voice. This required confidence and the ability to be calm to be
understood by everyone . Through my 3 years of breakthrough, I have gotten

Communication is a two way process, it allows us to interact with other people. The part of
correspondence is much critical for every one life. There are different types of communication
processes in which any individual is engaged every now and then. Communication processes are two
types verbal and non verbal. The intention of communication is to make others see about your
emotions and purpose of perspectives about any specific subject or plan. The requirement for
correspondence is obvious from the different parts which one is obliged to play occasionally. This
clarifies that it is unrealistic for every last one to live in detachment remembering about the way that
people are social creatures. Common types of communication include speaking, writing, broadcasting
and gestures. It is not only exchange information but also instill the filling of confidence and

Essay on Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town Analysis
The poem anyone lived in a pretty how town by E.E. Cummings talks about the cycle of life and the
importance of structure, symbolism, and language of the poem. For instance, the poem has nine
stanzas, which has a rhyming pattern of AABC. The rhythm of the poem is significant for it supports
one of themes, the cycle of life. Cumming uses season to explain the poem s progress. spring summer
autumn winter (3) and sun moon stars rain (8) symbolizes time passing, which represents life passing.
In the poem, as the seasons and skies rotate, life continues along with them. In addition, the uses of the
words snow (22), buried (27), was by was (28), and day by day (29) leading to death. Towards the end
of the poem, the depression of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The plot of anyone lived in a pretty how town is simple, but it is the choices of language that makes
this poem complex. The story begins with anyone, which can be considered as a specific person.
Anyone is a guy who the Women and men, or the someones and everyones, of the town don t care
about, because he is different than they are. Although, the children of the town can see the love of
Anyone and Noone, but even they begin to dislike the difference of Anyone as down they forgot as up
they grew. (10) Anyone and Noone soon later are buried side by side, while the people carry on living
their lives, learning nothing from Anyone and Noone. Cumming uses his own grammar to describe the
relationship of Anyone and Noone. Anyone is not just anyone so using anyone s any was all to her
(16) shows the appreciation for Anyone s individuality. Because of Anyone s any , this confronts the
someones (17) or everyones (17) making Anyone unique. The poem reveals the love that Anyone and
Noone shares. This love they have, everyones does not have. When Anyone sang his didn t and danced
his did (4) and Noone laughed his joy and cried his grief (14), gave differences of when someones and
everyones laughed their cryings and did their dance (18). Rhythmically, the poem can be thought as a
free verse. Basically, it is in past tense. For example, at the point when Anyone

Jesse Owens Research Papers
Jesse Owens full name was James Cleveland Owens. Jesse was born on September 12, 1913 in
Oakville, Alabama and died on March 31, 1980 in Tuscan, Arizona. As a kid he was expected to work
in cotton fields even when he was sick. He was sick with chronic bronchial congestion and
pneumonia. While he was in the fields Jesse had to carry 100 lbs. a day. On Sundays he had to go to
church and on Sunday nights he went to bed as soon as the sun went down. He went to bed that early
because he had to get up at 4:00 in the morning to work the fields. When Jesse turned 9 he moved to
Cleveland, Ohio. Jesses father had trouble keeping a steady job, so his mom got a job as a cleaning
lady. While his parents were working his older brother and sister watched ... Show more content on

Cleveland. Everyone in Cleveland welcomed him back with open arms, the only thing they wouldn t
do was give him a job. After he retired from running he opened a business in Chicago, Illinois. The
business was public relations and marketing. He traveled around the United States to attend
conventions and other business gatherings. Jesse was wanting to be in baseball or football. At the time
African Americans weren t allowed to play in either sports. A good thoroughbred is twice as fast as a
human. When he was racing his first racehorse Jesse ran faster than he ever did. After the race he
learned that the hoarse was actually ten yards behind him. The things he didn t like about racing
horses was that he was away from family. He wasn t sure if it was participating in athletic events or
making a spectacle of himself. Finally Jesse quit and went back to Cleveland. In Cleveland he went to
work at the playground. One night he was visited by someone from Australia. He and Jesse talked
about the Olympics. Around nine o clock the Australian left. Jesse moved to Detroit. His mother died
and soon after his father did too. Detroit and Cleveland had made bad memories for Jesse. He moved
to Detroit for a new start. Detroit didn t work out so well for him. So he thought Chicago, Illinois was
going to be a good place to start a business. In 1956 Jesse was appointed Ambassador of Sport for the
United States. With this he was offered to travel around the world too teach kids good sportsmanship

Commission. In 1960 before the Olympic Games his daughter was elected queen of homecoming

The Montgomery Boycott And The Civil Rights Movement
The Civil Rights Movement otherwise known as the African American Civil Rights Movement
occurred in 1954 to 1968. Numerous political and social movements occurred in the United States in
order to bring an end to the racial discrimination. However, the two events which stood out to me was
the Montgomery Boycott and the 1967 Detroit Riot. The Montgomery Boycott was a prolonged
protest occurring between December 5, 1955, to December 20, 1956. However, on December 1, 1955
Rosa Parks, of African American descent, was returning home from her job at the local department
store and she refused to give her seat on a bus to a Caucasian male. Thus, she was fined ten dollars
and 4 dollars in court fees and arrested her trial occurring on December 5. In

With Abner s reactions before and after burning Mr. Harris barn and Satoris thoughts throughout the

`` Pride `` By John Aquinas
When one hears the word pride , one would rarely imagine a modest person who devotes their time to
volunteer work and philanthropy. Typically, one would picture an arrogant politician or a movie star, a
person so self absorbed that they almost entirely ignore the needs of those around them. However,
even the humblest acts of virtue can arise from pride as well. The story of Icarus, the boy who became
entranced with his own pride and flew too close to the sun, is told time and time again; however, there
is another story of pride one hears less often, the person who takes pride in their own humility. Rather
than take pride in typical attributes such as wealth, prestige, or even appearance, these people take
pride in their modesty and virtue. In this way, pride comes from an unexpected source and is difficult
to avoid since it takes occasion even from good deeds (Aquinas 7). While the other six deadly sins
present both helpful and harmful characteristics of the sin, pride is complex in corrupting even the
most well intentioned actions. At first, it would seem that humility would be the opposite of pride
since it is defined as, having a lowly opinion of oneself ( Humility ). However, there are also
occasions in which a person corrupts the virtue by using it to enhance their image and view it as an
example of their own excellence. For example, although most of those volunteering at the soup
kitchen want to improve their community or provide to those less fortunate, there

they should not perceive the hotels presence to be a nuisance. Large hotels like Hilton, Four Seasons

How Can Inanna Be Considered A Mother Goddess
Often considered to be one of the most well known goddesses of Sumerian myth, Inanna can also be
considered one of the most complex. In order to analyse whether or not she can be considered a
mother goddess, the concept itself must first be defined. While term mother goddess does not
necessarily apply to the religions of the last few centuries, agriculturally based civilizations of the
ancient world. Maintenance of fertility was of prime importance, and they were often associated with
the earth. They incorporated characteristics of human motherhood but on a divine scale, becoming
Great Mothers , who had power over the production and fertility of the land and was responsibly for
the fecundity and protection of the people. Inanna appears consistently in in art and myth throughout
the Sumerian world. Throughout this essay, the characteristics demonstrated within these sources will
be compared to the goddess Isis, who in both Egyptian and Greco Roman religion was associated with
divine motherhood. These deities are not one dimensional, and neither is the concept of the mother
goddess . Both Isis and Inanna can be considered to fall on the pole of that of the Terrible Mother .

moment this essay is concerned with her desire to substitute her position in the Underworld with her
husband Dumuzi. From an etymological perspective, it seems more logical for Dumuzi, the god of
vegetation to remain in the Underworld to explain seasonal change rather than the goddess of desire
and sexual passion. Had Inanna remained instead, there would be no way for the circle of life to
continue. However, other interpretations of Inanna s actions can be accorded to the more aggressive

Homosexuality In Ancient Japan
Homosexuality in Japan was and still is a controversial topic to many. While currently in the United
States we are getting better with this subject, things are still quite backwards in Japan. However, just
like ancient Rome and Greece, Homosexuality was an honored tradition that was practiced in ancient
Japan as well, specifically during the Tokugawa era. This paper is going to focus not only on
homosexuality in Japan and its traditions, but also with the Samurai during the Tokugawa era. Similar
to ancient Rome and Greece, Japan believed that teachings were best when transferred between man
and youth, specifically in a sexual manner. The Japanese as well as the Greeks equated the love

Kabuki were traveling male performers, which were also commonly known for being prostitutes.
There are more than one woodblock prints showing kabuki actors sleeping with male partners. As
horrible as it is, an interesting point Leupp makes in his book is that most theaters had to provide
sexual access, not just theatrical art. They had to rely on the sexual attractiveness and complaisance of
their actors more than on their not highly developed skill as actors to attract clients. He then goes on to
say they also relied on the erotic attractions of their handsome young men to draw customers,
prostituting these young men, as other kinds of street performers and traveling troupes also did (173).
Another interesting fact stated is that kabuki theaters were possibly an outcome due to one of the
shogun s preference being for male performers. In my opinion, it s super fascinating that a lot of
popular traditions could have been created because of homosexuality in ancient times. Why I say this
is because in our society anything gay is (or at least was) covered up mostly because of religion. This
is similar to women inventors being covered up and having their ideas stolen by men, I m glad we re
finally able to reveal the truths and all of the scorned people will have to deal with it. With all of that
being said however, it s still completely disgusting how these kabuki and young men were prostituted
and had their bodies sold. I do not agree with this one

The British and French conquered the Ottoman Empire and together drew up the Sykes Picot
agreement which divided the Middle East between the two countries. The British awarded Syria to
France. France attempted to divide the country and make it mostly Christian. Due to the large Muslim
population, this was unsuccessful. France then unsuccessfully tried to implement their local policies
and tried to change the local language to French. The Syrians resisted. This led the French to revert to
violence. They would bomb cities and kill protestors. It was in 1941 when the British actually stepped
in and overthrew the French regime. The last French soldier left April 17th, 1946 which then became

Benefits Of Canada s Double Trade Policy
Although there will be agreement, the double trade policy is going to continue. The benefits of
carrying out this trade is far outweigh the harm. David Watt, HSBC Canada chief economist, says that
for Canada s heavily resource based economy, there are clear benefits to trade deals with a country
that is likely going to be a key driver of commodity prices for the next 30 years. And it would be a
huge mistake if Canada let this chance go.
The government of Canada will support the policy. As a developing country, China has a large amount
of resource demand. Since Canada is rich in natural resources, the increasing export will lead to the
growth of Canada economic. We should see that as the trade policy continue, Canada export increase,
and there will be higher net export, which means the increase of GDP. We can find exact evidence for
this. The value of Canada s exports to China increased by 5.8% between 2012 and 2013, while the
value of Canada s imports from the country grew by 4.0%. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The increasing trade with China will definitely influence the benefit of other trade partners of Canada.
The more Canada import from China, the less benefits other countries gain. The U.S. goods trade

value of export trade is less than the total value of imports, which means to spend more foreign

iii) The hypotheses of interest concern the interaction parameter β10. Specifically, H0: β10 = 0 Ha:
β10 0 Test statistic: t = 1.378, p value = 0.170, respectively. The lower tailed p value, obtained by
dividing the two tailed p value in half, is 0.170/2 = 0.085. Since we are testing using α = 0.1, α
exceeds the p value, thus we can reject H0 and conclude that the rate of change of the sale price of the
condos with distance from the elevator(x2) decreases when the view(x3) decreases ; that is x2 and x3
interact positively. Thus, it appears that the interaction term should be included in the model.
Therefore the new multiple regression model is: E(y) = 198.934 6.474 x1 5.746 x2 + 58.666 x3 21.678

DISTRIBUTION IN BANKING BUSINESS
Distribution in financial services marketing is concerned with how the service is delivered to the
customer, making sure that it is available in a place, at a time and in a format that is appropriate and
convenient for the customer.
In a growing number of countries, the expansion of the financial services sector has been accompanied
by a significant blurring of lines between different institutional types with, for instance, retail banks
offering insurance products (bancassuarance), insurance companies offering bank accounts and
supermarkets launching their own credit cards. As a consequence, individual organizations can no

Rationale for banking agents
Banking agents help financial institutions to divert existing customers from crowded branches
providing a complementary , often more convenient channel. Other financial institutions, especially in
developing markets, use agents to reach an additional client segment or geography. Reaching poor
clients in rural areas is often prohibitively expensive for financial institutions since transaction
numbers and volumes do not cover the cost of a branch. In such environments banking agents that
piggy back on existing retail infrastructure and lower set up and running cost can play a vital role in
offering many low income people their first time access to a range of financial services. Also, low
income clients often feel more comfortable banking at their local store than walking into a marble
branch.
Banking agents are the backbone of mobile banking, i.e., performing transactions over a mobile
device, most often a mobile phone. To enable clients to convert cash into electronic money and vice
versa which can send be sent over their mobile phone, clients will have to visit a branch, automated
teller machine (ATM), or banking agent. Especially in remote and rural locations, where cash is still
the most important way to pay and transact, a mobile banking service is dependent on

  • 2. Cultural Analysis Paper Cultural Analysis Paper No matter how hard we try, or how much we study, it is pretty much impossible to become an expert on all the world s cultures. It is possible however, to be enlightened on a few cultures through some effort and understanding. That is just what we did, through interviewing three people who were raised in cultures different from ours. The following are results from what we learned about different cultural dimensions. GENDER EGALITARIANISM Gender egalitarianism, as defined in the Globe study, measures societies beliefs about whether members biological sex should determine the roles that they play in their homes, business organizations, and communities. This can be made seen in attitudinal domains, as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We asked her how her country differed from what she has experienced in the US. She described how she envisioned everyone in the US being rich and no poor people. She was shocked to see how different it really was. Even though she could not speak English she could tell this place was immensely different from El Salvador. Yes many people are rich here but they have lost so much more than they have gained and they don t even know it. To Ana, family is the most important thing to have; she sees a lot of Americans giving up family time to pursue other worldly things . We found it interesting that Ana was able to identify our individualistic ways without even knowing how to communicate with most of the people here. HIGH POWER DISTANCE For the final two dimensions, we interviewed a Chinese transfer student named Cong Feng (Lisa), who has only been here for six months. Due to the little amount of time spent here, our first issue was a fairly tough language barrier, which prohibited us from receiving any sort of detailed or complex answers, but the sufficed enough to draw some understanding. The Hofstede Cultural Dimensions defines high power distance as the extent to which the less powerful members of organizations and institutions accept and expect that power is distributed unequally ... • 3. Short Story Samuel By Grace Paley Samuel Death is an inevitable event. Most times we have no control over how or when it will happen and in the short story, Samuel, by Grace Paley, a young boy loses his life while he and his friends partake in a very dangerous game. An unfortunate situation, it was and it leaves you to ask yourself the question Who s to blame? After thoroughly reading the story, it becomes quite clear that though the boys were taking a huge risk and acting childish, they were just kids being kids and the people surrounding them could have done more to help them. The onlookers couldn t have known what would happen, but they also didn t do much to prevent such a tragedy. The four young boys in the story Samuel are acting careless and risky as they think ... Most of them looked stern in the face, hoping that the boys would sense their extreme disapproval. One of the ladies stated she wanted to get up and say, be careful you dumb kids, get off that platform or I ll call a cop. But then decided against it because they boys were Black and she was afraid they would laugh at her and embarrass her. Another lady figured the kid s mothers knew where they were so she didn t feel the need to intrude. With no interference from anyone the boys continued on playing around and the train began to slow down and as it was slowing down the lady who was afraid of embarrassment, saw the boys jerk forward and backward and grab the swinging guard chains. The lady then decided it was finally time to save the boys for good so she stood up determined as ever and went over to the boys and said, You boys will be hurt. You ll be killed. I m going to call the conductor if you don t just go into the next car and sit down and be quiet. Listening to the lady two of the boys said Yes m and acted as if they were about to go. The other two boys just looked at her and blinked their eyes. Moments later just, as she suspected the boys began laughing at her and she was just as embarrassed as she thought she would be. • 4. Pre-College Personal Statement Pre College I was raised by two Asian immigrants, I spent most of my childhood with strict life expectations. My parents cared about pushing me to become a doctor and with that academic success. I rebelled most of it only seeing it as a negative in my life. That kind of lifestyle made me look at academics as a negative while games are positive. My parents did not have the same look for those as I did. That being the case, I hid all traces to gaming from them and only showed them my lacking academic side. I received okay grades, B s and C s, up until high school when I received my first A in a computer science course. Computer science became my passion. The positivity I received fueled my passion for computer science. The shift from being berated to commended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They thought the only way to learn was from a book. They did not believe that computer science could be a stable, successful career compared a medical career. That mentality led me to apply as a biology major. My first quarter at UCR was filled with chemistry and biology classes. I persuaded my parents to allow me to take a computer science course. I loved that class. I did well in that class. It was the class I looked forward to after my chemistry and biology classes. I switched majors after that quarter to computer science. College I am passionate about computer science. Computer science is a field I can be creative and meaningful. I can create a program in x amount of time which can save people xn amount of time. The return on investment is great and the smiles are a plus. I continue through computer science even, though it can be hard at points because of those smiles. The programs that I make can be shared with those around the word. The cost of production is near zero; I don t have to worry about getting funding to prototype. I can create a solution to a real world problem very easily and very cheaply. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Gender Bias On The Classroom Gender Bias In The Classroom Gender roles are widely accepted societal expectations about how males and females should behave (Rathus, 2010, pg. 447). Gender roles create a difference in the way that masculine and feminine behaviors are accepted among society. Gender roles are often depicted as just a part of who a person is and help better define the difference between male and female. When society begins to use these gender roles as norms we often see those who don t fit into the correct role become ostracized by society. When these gender roles become rigid they can become gender stereotypes. These stereotypes are fixed and oversimplified beliefs about the way in which men and women ought to behave (Rathus, 2010, pg. 447). One of the most common gender stereotypes is that men are the breadwinners and women are the homemakers. These stereotypes also carry into emotions as well, women being more likely to feel sadness, fear and sympathy, while men are more likely to feel anger and pride. Another area where gender stereotypes can be observed is in the work place with women taking jobs such as nursing and teaching, and men holding jobs in fields like medicine and law. (Rathus, 2010, pg. 447). There are many physical, cognitive, personality, and behavioral differences between genders. Physically men and women have different primary and secondary sex characteristics. The primary sex characteristics are the organs of the reproductive system where women have ovaries and men ... • 7. Superheroes In Watchmen Watchmen is different from most superhero stories. For instance, the superheroes in Watchmen can be considered outcast, unenjoyed by the people of the city. They have a much different reputation from other superheroes we hear about, such as Batman and Superman. For example, this outcast theme is seen when the citizens of the city throw shade at Dr. Manhattan for causing cancer (Moore 89 91), and the constant fear when Rorschach appears (Moore 23). Furthermore, the government passed a law that forbids them from existing in their superhero state. In other words, they are not glorified as seen in other superhero depictions. Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Regarding our recent inquiry as to the viability of an Abl Bcr inhibitor and the marketability thereof, it is of prudent management to discern the separation between our drug candidate and those drugs currently existing in the market, and evaluating the ease of development as well as long term payoffs of said inhibitor. First, however, an introduction to chronic myeloid leukemia, its symptoms and diagnoses, as well as current treatments, is in order. • 10. The Baroque And Classical Periods The Baroque and Classical periods are where we see the emergence of renowned composers like Handel, Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart and Beethoven. The music from these famous composers are some of the world s most recognizable and beautiful classics of all time. Music of these eras are still being used in many of today s movies and commercials. Musical characteristics developed from these eras are still used and heard presently in popular music. The art of the Baroque period was very colorful and dramatic, which translated into the music created at the time. The idea of being very expressive and embellishing in detail would lead to the development of opera. Opera is a dramatic play that is acted out through music. In opera, a soloist must be able to act and sing out the mood of the text or libretto. This expressive singing accompanied by a bass line or basso continuo is called monody. This idea of a new texture would feature the distinction between the high voice that carries one melody and the low voice or bass. The accompanying bass line was played by harpsichord with the addition of a bassoon or cello (Wright 6 3a,6 3b). Claudio Monteverdi, who is considered an originator of opera who composed the earliest example of the genre called Orfeo. Based on ancient Greek mythology, which was the initial intention of opera, Orfeo is a drama about the mythical Greek god Orpheus. To rescue his bride Euridice, he goes down to Hades. In the prologue of Orfeo which is Del mio Permesso amato , the Greek muse La Música sets the stage for the drama. At first hearing La Música sing, her melodic voice captures my ears and attention, like letting me know to listen up . As was Monteverdi s intention, I can hear how the harmony is the same while the melody changes throughout. The melismatic singing that accentuates certain words emphasize the importance of setting the mood of the opera (Wright, 6 3c). A great interest in hearing only instrumental music tell the story without text arise. The development of the concerto grosso which is a small unit of soloists against a full orchestra (Wright, 7 4) brought about one of the most popular and recognized concerto pieces, Vivaldi s Violin Concerto in E Major (the Spring). Reformers like Martin Luther and John Calvin were two of the most significant figures in the history of The Reformation. To compare Martin Luther s and John Calvin s view on the subject of a sinful person, I thoroughly looked into their common doctrines and considered how they differ in implementing the rules that manage their ideology. I was able to conclude that even though Luther and Calvin shared similar doctrines, their conceptualization and interpretation of those doctrines is very different. Based on their opinions of sinners, I further realized that not only do they have divergent interpretations of similar doctrines, but they also have different ambitions and their personalities are extreme opposites. Luther often blamed the flesh, which Protestants refer to as our sinful nature (they believed is the cause of human impurities), for the sins of every human and he gave credit to the Spirit for every good things that man does. The Reformers and the Protestants believe that there are two types of spirits: the Holy Spirit, which they proclaim to be the spirit of God, and the human spirit, which is the part of humans that opens up to the spirit of God. • 18. Delays And Congestion At Frontier s East Passenger air travel has been forecasted to increase to over 1 billion persons annually by 2023. This alone has a great likelihood of negatively impacting airport capacity at several of Frontier Airlines major hubs due to inefficient runway use. This case study will focus on delays and congestion at Frontier s east coast hub, Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), and how improvements can effectively reduce the amount of delayed flights Frontier consistently experiences. Background Philadelphia Municipal Airport opened on June 20, 1940 along the banks of the Delaware River. By year s end, approximately 40,000 passengers travelled through the airport. By 1945, the municipal airport became Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) courtesy of transatlantic service by American Overseas Airlines. In the 1960s and 1970s, expansion and modernization paved way for the airport facility in use today. Increased popularity of air travel, population growth, and urban development have all contributed to the increase in congestion and decrease in capacity at PHL over the years. FAA records as far back as 1995 show that PHL ranked consistently as one of the most delayed airports (FAA, 2010). Many of these delays at PHL have secondary and tertiary effects at the airports to which the originating flights are destined. Hub and spoke carrier passengers depending on their on time arrival may miss connecting flights and, at times, additional onward flights, cruises, or other important events. ... • 29. `` Pride `` By John Aquinas When one hears the word pride , one would rarely imagine a modest person who devotes their time to volunteer work and philanthropy. Typically, one would picture an arrogant politician or a movie star, a person so self absorbed that they almost entirely ignore the needs of those around them. However, even the humblest acts of virtue can arise from pride as well. The story of Icarus, the boy who became entranced with his own pride and flew too close to the sun, is told time and time again; however, there is another story of pride one hears less often, the person who takes pride in their own humility. Rather than take pride in typical attributes such as wealth, prestige, or even appearance, these people take pride in their modesty and virtue. In this way, pride comes from an unexpected source and is difficult to avoid since it takes occasion even from good deeds (Aquinas 7). While the other six deadly sins present both helpful and harmful characteristics of the sin, pride is complex in corrupting even the most well intentioned actions. At first, it would seem that humility would be the opposite of pride since it is defined as, having a lowly opinion of oneself ( Humility ). However, there are also occasions in which a person corrupts the virtue by using it to enhance their image and view it as an example of their own excellence. For example, although most of those volunteering at the soup kitchen want to improve their community or provide to those less fortunate, there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. How Can Inanna Be Considered A Mother Goddess Often considered to be one of the most well known goddesses of Sumerian myth, Inanna can also be considered one of the most complex. In order to analyse whether or not she can be considered a mother goddess, the concept itself must first be defined. While term mother goddess does not necessarily apply to the religions of the last few centuries, agriculturally based civilizations of the ancient world. Maintenance of fertility was of prime importance, and they were often associated with the earth. They incorporated characteristics of human motherhood but on a divine scale, becoming Great Mothers , who had power over the production and fertility of the land and was responsibly for the fecundity and protection of the people. Inanna appears consistently in in art and myth throughout the Sumerian world. Throughout this essay, the characteristics demonstrated within these sources will be compared to the goddess Isis, who in both Egyptian and Greco Roman religion was associated with divine motherhood. These deities are not one dimensional, and neither is the concept of the mother goddess . Both Isis and Inanna can be considered to fall on the pole of that of the Terrible Mother . Inanna more so than Isis occupies both a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the reason for her descent depends on the interpretation being analysed. However, for the moment this essay is concerned with her desire to substitute her position in the Underworld with her husband Dumuzi. From an etymological perspective, it seems more logical for Dumuzi, the god of vegetation to remain in the Underworld to explain seasonal change rather than the goddess of desire and sexual passion. Had Inanna remained instead, there would be no way for the circle of life to continue. However, other interpretations of Inanna s actions can be accorded to the more aggressive aspects of her ... • 32. Homosexuality In Ancient Japan Homosexuality in Japan was and still is a controversial topic to many. While currently in the United States we are getting better with this subject, things are still quite backwards in Japan. However, just like ancient Rome and Greece, Homosexuality was an honored tradition that was practiced in ancient Japan as well, specifically during the Tokugawa era. This paper is going to focus not only on homosexuality in Japan and its traditions, but also with the Samurai during the Tokugawa era. Similar to ancient Rome and Greece, Japan believed that teachings were best when transferred between man and youth, specifically in a sexual manner. The Japanese as well as the Greeks equated the love between a man and a beardless youth with all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kabuki were traveling male performers, which were also commonly known for being prostitutes. There are more than one woodblock prints showing kabuki actors sleeping with male partners. As horrible as it is, an interesting point Leupp makes in his book is that most theaters had to provide sexual access, not just theatrical art. They had to rely on the sexual attractiveness and complaisance of their actors more than on their not highly developed skill as actors to attract clients. He then goes on to say they also relied on the erotic attractions of their handsome young men to draw customers, prostituting these young men, as other kinds of street performers and traveling troupes also did (173). Another interesting fact stated is that kabuki theaters were possibly an outcome due to one of the shogun s preference being for male performers. In my opinion, it s super fascinating that a lot of popular traditions could have been created because of homosexuality in ancient times. Why I say this is because in our society anything gay is (or at least was) covered up mostly because of religion. This is similar to women inventors being covered up and having their ideas stolen by men, I m glad we re finally able to reveal the truths and all of the scorned people will have to deal with it. With all of that being said however, it s still completely disgusting how these kabuki and young men were prostituted and had their bodies sold. I do not agree with this one ... The British awarded Syria to France. France attempted to divide the country and make it mostly Christian. Due to the large Muslim population, this was unsuccessful. France then unsuccessfully tried to implement their local policies and tried to change the local language to French. The Syrians resisted. This led the French to revert to violence. • 35. Benefits Of Canada s Double Trade Policy Although there will be agreement, the double trade policy is going to continue. The benefits of carrying out this trade is far outweigh the harm. David Watt, HSBC Canada chief economist, says that for Canada s heavily resource based economy, there are clear benefits to trade deals with a country that is likely going to be a key driver of commodity prices for the next 30 years. And it would be a huge mistake if Canada let this chance go. The government of Canada will support the policy. As a developing country, China has a large amount of resource demand. Since Canada is rich in natural resources, the increasing export will lead to the growth of Canada economic. We should see that as the trade policy continue, Canada export increase, and there will be higher net export, which means the increase of GDP. We can find exact evidence for this. The value of Canada s exports to China increased by 5.8% between 2012 and 2013, while the value of Canada s imports from the country grew by 4.0%. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The U.S. goods trade deficit with Canada was $ 15 billion in 2015, a 57.1% decrease ($ 20 billion) over 2014. The total value of export trade is less than the total value of imports, which means to spend more foreign exchange for imports, and cause the reduce of foreign exchange reserves. Hotel occupancy fell below 40% and 3,000 employees were laid off in the week following the attacks. (Wiki Economics, History.com) Health effects of the September 11, 2001 attacks were almost non existent at first, but years and years of study showed that people who worked around the debris from long periods of time are much more likely to develop PTSD. Some heart conditions and respiratory disease have been linked to the September 11, 2001 attacks, but nothing has been proven. Some mental illness exists as a result of the attacks, but 80% of the mental illness was caused from being hit in the head with debris or from actually falling with the tower. Specifically, H0: β10 = 0 Ha: β10 0 Test statistic: t = 1.378, p value = 0.170, respectively. The lower tailed p value, obtained by dividing the two tailed p value in half, is 0.170/2 = 0.085. Since we are testing using α = 0.1, α exceeds the p value, thus we can reject H0 and conclude that the rate of change of the sale price of the condos with distance from the elevator(x2) decreases when the view(x3) decreases ; that is x2 and x3 interact positively. Thus, it appears that the interaction term should be included in the model. Therefore the new multiple regression model is: E(y) = 198.934 6.474 x1 5.746 x2 + 58.666 x3 21.678 x4 + 0.872 x12 + 0.533x22 0.264 x1x2 5.93 x1x3 + 0.92 x2x3 C. • 39. distribution in banking DISTRIBUTION IN BANKING BUSINESS Distribution in financial services marketing is concerned with how the service is delivered to the customer, making sure that it is available in a place, at a time and in a format that is appropriate and convenient for the customer. In a growing number of countries, the expansion of the financial services sector has been accompanied by a significant blurring of lines between different institutional types with, for instance, retail banks offering insurance products (bancassuarance), insurance companies offering bank accounts and supermarkets launching their own credit cards. As a consequence, individual organizations can no longer claim a distinctive market position based on the products they offer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example: money transfer agents, commission payment agents... Rationale for banking agents Banking agents help financial institutions to divert existing customers from crowded branches providing a complementary , often more convenient channel. Other financial institutions, especially in developing markets, use agents to reach an additional client segment or geography. Reaching poor clients in rural areas is often prohibitively expensive for financial institutions since transaction numbers and volumes do not cover the cost of a branch. In such environments banking agents that piggy back on existing retail infrastructure and lower set up and running cost can play a vital role in offering many low income people their first time access to a range of financial services. Also, low income clients often feel more comfortable banking at their local store than walking into a marble branch. Banking agents are the backbone of mobile banking, i.e., performing transactions over a mobile device, most often a mobile phone. To enable clients to convert cash into electronic money and vice versa which can send be sent over their mobile phone, clients will have to visit a branch, automated teller machine (ATM), or banking agent. Especially in remote and rural locations, where cash is still the most important way to pay and transact, a mobile banking service is dependent on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
