The Next Phase Of Ending The Cold War Essay
The Next Phase in Ending the Cold War
The date is October 27, 1962, and it is a brisk fall day in Michigan. Normally, I could hear
children playing outside of my office window but not today. Today, all that I can hear is wind
passing through the city and the feeling of despair resonates throughout the populace. The
blockade went up two days ago and I want to believe that it will be enough to subdue the
U.S.S.R. forces but I am unsure if the blockade will hold. President Kennedy is entirely against
using first strike measures because he does not want to enter another unnecessary war, however
most citizens have lived in a state of panic and distress. The citizens believe that the strikes would
be bad, but they would end the restlessness that can be felt even in the smallest of children. The
biggest conversation politically is that President Kennedy is not fit to be president of the United
States of America, due to his age and the recent failure, The Bay of Pigs .
Conflict between Cuba, U.S.S.R, and the United States present two conclusions: These nations
begin a nuclear war with few to none survivors or these nations do not participate in a nuclear
war and everyone lives. I have been tasked with dealing with two scenarios: The first scenario is
if we decided to strike Cuba, what does the day after look like. The second scenario is that if we
wait and the United States is hit with a nuclear weapon from Cuba, what does October 28, 1962,
look like for an average American.

4g Wireless Networks.
4G Wireless Networks
Compare and contrast 3G wireless networks to 4G networks in terms of:
3G and 4G wireless networks can be compared and contrasted by four areas of capabilities:
Service and application, network architecture, data throughput and user perception. Some examples
of services offered by 3G wireless networks are CDMA2000 (also known as IMT MultiCarrier
(IMTMC), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), and EDGE as well as a long
list of others while 4G offer Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (Wimax2) and
Long Term Evolution (LTE Advance). (Jamia Yant, 2012, April 26) 3G applications allows users

The reality is WiMax network availability is only available in select locations. The WiBro network
was created in South Korea to allow people to the internet from anywhere in the country. WiBro
network has a download speed of 40.32Mbps and WiBro was designed to maintain a connection
up to speed of 74 MPH. (WiBro, 2013) This allows users the ability to enjoy broadband Internet
in cars or subways that run at high speeds. WiBro will soon become nearly obsolete with the
advancement of the LTE network being available at lower cost because of the multiple service
providers.
4G LTE Carrier Competition
LTE s security enrichments, minimal dormancy and extraordinary speediness above 3G merely
denote that a consumer will have the ability to manipulate practically any online operation
conceivable on a cellular phone. The limitations of equipment that have caused numerous
operations to be restrained are now issues of the past. Consumers increase in service/carrier
elections is one of the dynamic influences which initiate competition amongst carriers. Additionally,
there are numerous other influences that are triggering added curiosity in cellular technology
nowadays that is additionally propelling such aggressive rivalry. The accessibility of cellular
bandwidth quickness is precisely contending with fixed line admittance technologies (Moscaritolo,
2012). Individuals want to be able to be mobile and on the go, all while maintaining the

High School Reflection Essay
Have you ever just felt like high school was too easy? Well I have because I felt like the teachers
just passed you on. They didn t give me a challenge like I was supposed to have and from that
being, now I have to prepare myself for the college life and teach myself the things I was supposed
to be taught in high school. The schoolI came from didn t have a math teacher or a history teacher
all year so we just sat in the class rooms and played everyday all day and I still ended up passing
and that school was Albany Early College. They told me that I would finish high school with an
associate degree but all I got was a discombobulated school and an uncontrolled school. The next
school I went to didn t care either. They showed me that I can skip class everyday and still pass
with an A average. Despite all the things I didn t get taught in high school, I did learn some unique
aspects that I can reflect on and use for college. The skills I reflect on are annotating, using the
Cornell note taking system, and how to be on time for school.
To begin with, the first aspect I reflect on from high school is annotating. Annotating helped me a
lot when I was taking final exams and other test. This is one of the most I reflect on because I
can use this skill to help me in college. I first learned how to annotate in the 11th grade when I
was at Monroe Comprehensive High School. The way my teacher showed me how to annotate
was to number the paragraphs then summarize the paragraphs individually, after doing that it
helped me understand the passage better as if it was hard to comprehend. My teacher also told
me to underline any sentences that look interesting to me and circle any words that I am not
familiar with and go and look them up after I was done. But you don t just annotate and be done,
but you have to go back and study what you annotated so you can get a full understanding of
whatever you re annotating. Annotating is a big skill that I was taught because I can use it in
other subjects other than English such as: History, Science, and other classes, but I can t annotate
the same way in every subject. For example: If I annotate math the same way I do in History then
my notes would be messed up because I am learning two

Harriet Tubman s 5 Paragraph Essay
I have chosen to write a five paragraph essay about Harriet Tubman. I chose her because i was
really amazed over all the things she did, not just escaping the slavery herself, but she also went
back, risking her life, 19 times to help other slaves escape. Harriet was born in 1880, Dorchester
County, Maryland, USA. She got 93 years old and died in 1913 in New York. She was married
two times. The first time with John Tubman from 1844 to 1851, and the second time with
Nelson Davies from 1869 to his death in 1888. She adopted a girl named Gertie with her
husband Nelson Davies. During the civil war she was a nurse and a civil rights fighter. She
belonged to Christianity her whole life. Harriet had a rough life, but she managed to help over
300 people out of slavery including herself. She did always carry a gun, and she was not afraid
to use it. If the slaves agreed to escape, they wasn t allowed to go back. If they ever suggested to
go back, she pointed the gun against their head and said; You walk on, or die . There was this
time, a man who did not think they would get all the way to Canada and wanted to go back.
Harriet threatened him with a gun, and a few days later, he was still in the group when they
arrived to Canada. Harriet got known from her work for the... Show more content on

Maryland, her birth place. In 2014, the application to build the national historical parks got

Engstrom Auto Case
Introduction
The Engstrom Auto Mirror plant employs over 200 people at its Indiana location. Since 1999,
workers at the plant have received bonuses based on the Scanlon Bonus Plan, which paid a
percentage of all labor savings each month. Workers were motivated by the bonuses to increase
their productivity, thus saving the plant from its unprofitable state during the 1990s. However, in
2007, the plant once again faced issues of unproductivity and low profits. The plant manager, Ron
Bent, had to lay off 46 employees in 2006, and employees had not received a bonus in seven
months. Employees had become dissatisfied with the Scanlon Plan ( Engstrom , 2008, p. 1 6).

6). Thus, employees feel as if their effort is not leading to the expected rewards, contributing to the
lack of motivation.
Finally, the current Scanlon plan, while initially successful, has many design flaws. The plan
currently pays out bonuses so regularly that workers began to perceive the bonus as part of their
regular paycheck, instead of associating the bonus with their own increased efforts ( Engstrom ,
2008, p. 2). Thus, the plan, which originally was designed based on positive reinforcement, used a
method of continuous rewarding, which reduces the durability of its results (Bauer Erdogan, 2013,
p. 112).
Conclusion
Engstrom should create a modified Scanlon Plan that clearly relates bonuses to increased
productivity, allows for feedback to improve performance, and sets goals for production would
be the best way to motivate employees. First, the new Scanlon Plan should have a simplified
payout calculation. The bonuses should not be paid on a continuous monthly basis, but rather
on a fixed ratio schedule, which provides rewards every nth time the right behavior is
demonstrated (Bauer Erdogan, 2013, p. 112). In practice, this would mean that employees are
paid a bonus every time a certain amount of money in allowed payroll is reached. The current
allowed payroll is at 38% of sales value ( Engstrom , 2008, p. 7, Exhibit 1). This does not have to be
changed. Instead, as soon as Engstrom reaches an allowed payroll of one million dollars, then 10%

Dr. Kaplan s Practice At Boone Hospital
I received an assignment to investigate a complaint on Dr. Michael Kaplan on 11/20/2014
regarding some concerns raised about Dr. Kaplan s practice at Boone Hospital. These concerns
triggered an investigation by the medical executive committee (MEC). Dr. Kaplan elected to retire
from the hospital, resign his medical staff appointment and clinical privileges. This was reported to
the Board of Healing Arts and to the National Practitioner Databank.
After serving a subpoena for the investigation at Boone Hospital, I received approximately 108
pages of documents from Nancy Tune, RN on 01/07/2015. In these documents I found that Dr.
John J. Seaberg, M.D. had observed on March 14, 2014 Chris Kaplan dissect the implant pocket
for a breast augmentation using the electro cautery and use a #10 scalpel blade to make the skin
incision for an abdominoplasty while Dr. Mike Kaplan was sitting beside the operating table with
his hands folded on the patient watching his wife operate.
Mrs. Kaplan is not a nurse or a doctor. Dr. Seaberg believes that this is a violation of 334.2(4)d
and 334.040. He feels that she is not qualified by training, skill, competency, age, experience, or
licensure to perform such responsibilities.
There is a copy of a letter from Dr. Seaberg to Mark Cohen, M.D. Chief of Staff of Boone hospital
stating the above.
This matter was referred to the Medical Executive Committee (MEC) to investigate this incident
and Dr. Mike Kaplan s fitness to perform surgery.

Mormon Baptism
A fascinating and difficult issue has emerged from a uniquely Mormon practice that stems from a
religious fascination with genealogy. In fact, if a Mormon visits Salt Lake City, they are able to
take advantage of a vast genealogical research facility at no cost.
The practice in question, however, is not genealogical research, but the baptism of the dead. In the
Mormon faith, the dead who were not able to discover the Mormon faith during their lifetimes for
whatever reason such as, for instance, that they lived before the revelation to Joseph Smith are able
to be brought into the faith by the proxy baptism of a living Mormon. The practice must be
performed in a Mormon temple.
People of other faiths sometimes take issue with this practice, considering it to be ... Show more

In fact, many Holocaust victims were appearing on the index, sparking outrage among the Jewish
community.
The Mormon church met with members of the Jewish community, agreeing to cease the baptism of
Jewish Holocaust victims, in 1995. Then, however, it was discovered that names of Holocaust
victims were still appearing on the index of posthumous baptisms into the 2000s.
The main thrust of the article, however, is not Jews but Catholics. The Catholic Church, a well
organized religious body if ever there was one, sent notice to all local parish churches that no
genealogical information about its members was to be shared with the Genealogical Society in Utah
, the informational branch of the LDS church dealing with such matters.
The question of posthumous baptism is not the only such issue, according to the article. Popes have
been married in the afterlife by Mormons, against the celibacy imposed within Catholicism. Other
perceived offenses against other faiths have taken place, as

Analysis Of Samuel Beckett s Waiting For Godot
Then the Two of Them Must Have Been Damned
Absence of Reason in Religion in Waiting for Godot
At first glance, Samuel Beckett s Waiting for Godot, appears to be an unavailing, pointless play
whose only purpose is for comic relief. It is filled with off topic conversations and awkward
silences that seem to show no correlation. However, when the confusing plot is analyzed, it is
revealed that the play is an analogy of the futility of religion. The use of language in Waiting for
Godot serves to illustrate the theme that religion is incompatible with reason and only brings
Vladimir and Estragon confusion and sadness.
By alluding to stories from the Bible, Vladimir and Estragon find themselves more confused about
religion than more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

saved.Estragon: Well? They don t agree and that s all there is to it.Vladimir: But all four were
there. And only one speaks of a thief being saved. Why believe him rather than the others? ()
Beckett uses this allusion to show how confusing the details of religion were. The conversation
reveals that the different gospels, although talking about the same scene, mention vastly different
details, ultimately revealing that the Bible itself was conflicted in its views. Vladimir struggles
both to figure out whether the thieves were saved or whether the story even existed. This
uncertainty leads way to Beckett s views that religion can only be followed by mentally blind
people. This can be seen when Pozzo appears in Act Two, and Estragon begins a word game to try
to remember Pozzo s name:
Estragon: To try him with other names, one after the other. It d pass the time. And we d be
bound to hit on the right one sooner or later. Vladimir: I tell you his name is Pozzo. Estragon:
We ll soon see. (He reflects.) Abel! Abel!Help! Estragon: Got it in one! Vladimir: I begin to weary
of this motif.Estragon: Perhaps the other is called Cain. Cain! Cain! Pozzo: Help! Estragon: He s

Persuasive Letter For Tap Water In Schools
Dear Members of the Downey Unified School District School Board,
We value and admire your provision of drinking water for all of our scholars at DUSD schools.
Thank you for allowing us to choose among installing drinking fountains that consist of school tap
water, placing water dispensers that use bottled water, and supplying individual water bottles. I
recommend that you install drinking fountains because tap water holds dominant affordability and
environmental responsibility in differentiation to the other selections.
Firstly, I recommend that you supply drinking fountains with tap water because they possess an
affordable characteristic in comparison to the other options. For instance, a twenty four pack of
water bottles costs an average price of three dollars. Once you buy seventy cases, the cost
approximates to two hundred ten dollars. For a cooler filled with bottled water, each gallon of
water costs roughly one dollar. If the school purchases seventy cases, it would cost nearly seventy
dollars. These amounts of water, individually or combined, lack providing the school with enough
water for even one day. However, the requirement for drinking fountains that use tap water is to
finance money for the water bill. Further, Annie Leonard... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I can conclude this because plastic bottles cause environmental difficulties and pollution. In
addition, the water from water coolers would be poured into plastic or paper cups, piling up the
trash bins with waste, and producing just as much pollution as the water bottles. Cups or bottles
hold an unnecessary position with drinking fountains. I can confirm this because Annie Leonard
explained the decomposition situation. She claimed, Eighty percent [of plastic bottles from bottled
water] end up in landfills, ...or...are burned, releasing toxic pollution. If we install drinking
fountains, then the campus pollution levels will

Understanding the Potential Penalties of your DUI or DWI
Just when you ve gritted your teeth, pondering the potential penalties of your DWI charge and
think you ll come out unscathed, your District Attorney will shoot for sentences indicative of
your crime. These potential penalties stiffen when refusing various testing and getting busted
within school zones or student crosswalks. These could be added to your current DWI offense as
accessory charges, yet your attorney will probably get them dropped. Here s some alternative
punishments to imprisonment that many attorneys will shoot for; note, New Jersey residents
may not be given much of a choice. Driver Improvement Classes Everyone convicted, and
sentenced, to various classes and programs could take advantage of state approved Driver
Improvement Education which, upon successful completion, will take 3 points away from
current license tally. Managed by MVC professionals, these classes are geared towards those who

driving acuity to continually use the roadways offered by New Jersey. Two classes, both costing
$150 each, are offered for sentenced DWI offenders, and the general public. Please note that failure
to attend these classes as part of your sentencing will only cause further suspensions or having this
option deemed unavailable in the future. Any violations within 1 year after successful completion
of classes will result in suspension as well. Therefore, take these easy

A Brief Look at Guantanamo Bay
today Guantanamo Bay has been a big topic in today s society. On his campaign trail, President
Obama pledged, I will close Guantanamo bay detention center within a year of being elected . My
main argument has to be the amount of money were wasting on this prison. To be specific
according to democratic lawmakers it has skyrocketed to $2.7 million per inmate. Guantanamo has
been dubbed the most expensive prison on earth. President Barack Obamain May citied its cost then
calculated at about $900,000 per prisoner. That s one of the many reasons to close it. My evidence
supports my topic sentence because it just states fact of why this expensive prison should be shut

Seems unfair right? But if that doesn t convince you that this prison is worthless then this might.
The pentagon wants to more improvements on the prison and spend more of YOUR hard working
money. I guarantee you that the shutdown of this prison will bring a lot of great benefits. First the
spending of ridiculous money on a prison will be out of the picture. Second the boycotts in front of
the white house and government building will stop. People that want this prison close will do
everything they can to get it shut down and create something more productive that can benefit
everyone in the United States for the future.
Even though my main argument has to be the amount of money we re wasting on this prison, they
should close down the prison because we can t be wasting that much money on inmates that should
be dead. The United State citizens who are paying from their taxes are not agreeing with this prison
instead of wasting the money on that they can help the economy boost back up.
The most important reason they should close the prison down has to be the amount of money we
are wasting on it. We waste $2.7 million dollars a year on EACH inmate. If this doesn t seem
legit all the money budget can be found very quickly. We need all our money to go to us and help
us boost up our economy. The prison isn t worth keeping and having those inmates being kept there.
The smart thing to do in a scenario like this has to be is shutting the prison down and save our
money and

more cost savings that would apply to Tubular travel versus the conventional ways of travel. For

Diverse University Experience
Universities in the present globalized world have a diverse student population. I believe this aspect
has an important role to play in the overall educational experience of students. Diversity has many
forms such as gender, race or ethnicity, nationality or place of origin, disability, etc. When students
interact with fellow students who are different from them, they learn to value and respect
differences. I feel it helps in developing students who are more open to new ideas and willing to
experiment. Ultimately, this creates a more tolerant society. Growing up in India surrounded by
cultures different from my own, I was encouraged to value both the commonalities and differences
of the human experience. As a graduate studentat McGill, and while living in Montreal, a vibrant

how Western was Russia? This question has no set answer, it changes over time. Often times,

His accession to the throne appears to be a turning point. There appears to be a very small
softening of attitudes and the style of rule used in regards to governing Russia. He sought to

Nobles were required to work and be productive such as performing service in either the military

of his people instead of ruling through force alone. He did this by explaining the decisions he
made. This does not result in a participatory government but it does seek to remove the veil of

Online Recruitment Methods And Traditional Staffing Methods
Strategic staffing is the key element to recognize and deal all concerns related to staffing in several
departments. Moreover, staffing is the process of selecting, attracting, and retaining the best talents
to reach the organizations goals. Nowadays, some organizations have a difficult time to recruit the
right candidates. Furthermore, organizations use two staffing methods to recruit candidates.
Technology has brought incredible changes in recruiting process. Also, web technology still
revolutionizes recruiting and more than 100 000 employers in the world recruit on the internet and
not using the traditional method. The internet staffing is a strategy that gives the opportunity to get

traditional staffing methods; therefore, I will discuss the advantages and challenges of internet
staffing methods and traditional staffing methods. In addition, internet staffing and traditional
staffing methods vary in terms of time, cost, quality and retention.

The Use Of Internet And Technology On Communication
Internet and Technology; It s Effect on our Communication
Throughout the recent years, there has been an increase of instant messaging, social media and
internet based applications that has impacted our forms of communication. Sherry Turkle and Jenna
Wortham give two very different perspectives, about the benefits and disadvantages associated with
the influence that technology has had on communication. However, how the Use of Internet and
Technologies is Affecting Us? We live in a world where communication and connectivity have
assumed paramount importance. Now more than ever, popularity of the Internet, smartphones, and
applications particularly the ones that facilitate face time chatting and calling between users has
escalated enormously. While the advantages of communication apps are numerous, there are
loopholes in this practice too. In fact, the authors claim that texting is better because it helps us to
express ourselves better, but they don t realize that texting a lot can be harmful to our social skills
and communication, also be the cause of family isolate.
Today, communication technology has enabled its users to not feel apart from each other, even
though they may be thousands of miles apart geographically. According to Wortham (2014) it is the
power of instant messaging and calling apps that has allowed us to feel this way. In her article
titled I Had a Nice Time with You Tonight on the App , published in The New York Times in 2014,
she pins her focus on how

The American Of The United States Army
As for the US Army, they had been given orders by which they had to abide which lacked
defined rules of engagement. This meant that they had to complete the mission, and their
superiors did not necessarily care if the natives were pleased or harmed with the outcomes. As
far as they were concerned, there was land that had not been claimed legally and they wanted it.
This was a huge change for the natives from when they had met Lewis and Clark on their
journey exploring the Louisiana Territory decades earlier because both parties involved were
amicable and cooperative. Even later when more white settlers came west and moved into lands
the Indians once occupied, they voluntarily moved onto reservations without major issues. This
was accomplished fluidly because the natives, unlike the white settlers, did not consider land to
be owned by any person or group; land was theirs to do with what they would, which was to
survive and live rivers for water, animals for food, and other natural resources to create their
homes, clothes, and instruments. The Battle of Big Hole was a demonstration of violence of
action, and how rules of engagement have come to be created; the natives would have easily sat
down and discussed the matters encircling the massive amounts of land available to them, but the
settlers were misinformed and the government had a defense complex of doing what needed to be
done for their side, and not necessarily thinking about alternative options to going in to battle

Repercussions Of Revenge In Hamlet
The Repercussions of Revenge Revenge is shown throughout Shakespeare s play Hamlet, leaving
the destruction of human relationships in its wake. The act of vengeance is usually a violent act
against someone as a result of something they directly or indirectly did. This can be seen in The
Tragedy of Hamlet; Prince of Denmark with Hamlet s plan to murder Claudius for the death of
his father, King Hamlet, and Laertes similar plan to murder Hamlet for the death of his father,
Polonius. When someone is attempting to seek retribution against someone else, it results in
that person deceiving the people they love to further progress their intentions. Because of
revenge, ones suffering increases due to the continuous loss of relationships with your love
ones. Revenge could even put you in a situation that could risk your own life. Throughout
Shakespeare s play, William Shakespeare demonstrated how revenge leads to a path of deceit
and despair. In the play, Hamlet shows how revenge can turn someone towards the dark side of
life. This could be anywhere from lying and deceiving your loved ones to murdering helpless
bystanders; all in order to further their own goal. Prior to Hamlet finding proof about what the
ghost said, how Claudius murdered his father, he decided that if what he was told was true he
would go down the path of vengeance to honor his father s memories. Hamlet started to lie to
everyone he loved about his true intentions, so no one would suspect him attempting to kill the
new king. He did this by tricking Polonius, Ophelia s father and King Claudius s advisor, into
believing that the reason he was acting very strange was because he was terribly in love with
Ophelia. In act two scene one, Ophelia exclaimed to her father that Hamlet acted as if he had
been tossed out of hell... to speak of horrors he comes before me. Polonius responded by asking
Mad for thy love? (93 95). Hamlet has succeeded in lying to everyone in the kingdom about why
he is so depressed and confused by Polonius stating mad for thy love. Now all the characters
believe he is just a normal teenage boy attempting to court a well known beauty. He can now
continue his plan of murdering Claudius to seek vengeance for his father s death,

Summary Of The Book The Big Wave
Pearl S. Buck wrote the book called The Big Wave in 1948. A big wave killed many people and
washed important things away, changing villager s lives including Jiya, Kino, and Setsu. Most
of the people in the village hesitated to go back to the sea but Jiya hoped to go there again. In
the end, Jiya and some other people get over the disaster and start their new lives. Although
many people hesitate to go back, the key to overcoming terrible experiences for Jiya and others
is to start a new life with family and to confront disasters. After the big wave, both Jiya and Kino
were afraid of the ocean. The narrator says, two boys, now two young men, did not visit the
deserted beach very often (Buck 1). Even though time has passed since the big wave and they
became older, they are still afraid of the ocean. They... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jiya says, It is [Setsu] who made me forget the big wave. For me she is life (Buck 5). After the
big wave, Jiya does not laugh for a long time and never talks to others about his loneliness. That
is because he does not want anybody to be sad about it. The loss of his family left him a big
trauma. However, Setsu makes him laugh by teasing him. She heals and fills Jiya s emptiness
of his family. In the meantime, Kino cannot understand Setsu makes Jiya forget the big wave.
Setsu seems childish to Kino, but it makes Jiya brave and positive. While Kino and Jiya are
sailing together, Kino thinks about the cold, deep bottomless ocean and worries about the water.
He cannot conquer the anxiety of the sea but he decides not to tell Jiya. He does not want to
destroy Jiya s joy by mentioning the big wave. Therefore, Kino is still struggling to wipe off his
fear because he does not have any opportunity to realize the benefit of living on the beach.
However, Jiya overcomes the fear of the big wave and now trying to move on with the new family,

Today, this is done without too much stress and strain on either side; usually this takes place in
meeting rooms in a very civilized manner with management, employees, and union negotiators.
Deals and concessions are made on both sides and once the final contract is agreed on, business
continues on. By paying dues and certifying affiliations, union employees gain the power in
numbers needed to ensure a better quality of life for themselves and their families. In most cases
relationships between management and employees continue on with mutual respect, and the
business continues to make a profit. It wasn t always this easy. In the beginning, the union was
initially considered a dangerous criminal act against businesses and instead of deals and
concession the negotiations consisted of murders and vandalism. In an early colonial America, as
society wrestled with massive economic and social changes, labor problems arose. Low wages,
long hours, as in dangerous work, and abusive supervisory practices led to high employee turnover.
This resulted in violent strikes and threats of social instability. John R. Commons founded and
created the first academic industrial relations program at the University of Wisconsin in 1920. He

A Summary And Suggestions Of The Bank Essay
CHAPTER 5
5.1.1 FINDINGS AND SUGGESTIONS
The Bank has to do lot of work why people are still financially excluded even after 68 years of
independence and design policies to ensure inclusion of the poor and disadvantaged people. The
strategy could vary from village to village but all efforts should be made in this way as financial
inclusion can truly lift the financial condition and standards of life of the poor and the
disadvantaged people of Jammu Kashmir. Large percentage of loans is taken by households for
meeting financial emergency, medical emergency and social obligations like marriages, etc. These
three purposes amount to 53% of the loans availed by the people. More than 60% of people/farmers
are indebted to non institutional sources. In case of crisis, these people find it convenient to
approach non institutional sources for their credit necessities. Financial emergencies, for instance
include unforeseen expenditure on business, consumption, marriage among others, which may not
be financed by banks and other institutional organizations. Need specific loans / credit schemes can
attract the people towards the banking domain.
In India when financial inclusion started it was just to have minimum access to bank accounts
without frills. But actually financial inclusion scope is very wide it doesn t mean just to have a
zero balance account. Even many account holders can t recall when they opened these accounts

Factors Influencing Foreign Direct Environment
MD3042 CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN GLOBAL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
Factors Influencing Foreign Direct Investment
The world is becoming a global village and more companies are now operating at an international
level. This essay critically analyses some of the factors which influence Foreign Direct Investment
(FDI). Morrison (2006) defined FDI as the establishment of a company of a productive nature in a
foreign country involving large volume of shareholding in foreign operations. The essay will
investigate how important FDI is in the process of globalisation and in the activities of
multinational enterprises as well as examining how international trade and FDI are interlinked.
There will also be a discussion of different reasons why companies ... Show more content on

FDI has broadened its meaning into the acquisition of a lasting management interest in a firm
outside the investing enterprise s home country. For the reason above, it comes in different forms
which include direct acquisition of foreign companies, construction of a factory in a foreign country
and investment in joint ventures. Britton and Worthington (2009) described FDI as an important
aspect of globalisation as well as the activities of multinational companies.
Over the recent years, FDI has responded to new information technology systems, the reduction in
global communication costs and the liberalisation of the national regulatory framework which
controls investment in enterprises, (easing of restrictions and on foreign investments and
acquisition in many nations) have simplified the management of foreign investments as compared
to the past ( Spaulding and Graham, 2004). These are some of the factors which fuelled FDI s
expanded role in today s global business. According to the UNCTAD (2004) foreign direct
investment flow in developing countries has exploded through mergers and acquisition and
internationalisation of production in a range of industries. FDI in developed countries rose from
$481 billion in 1998 to $636 billion in 2004 (UNCTAD, 2004).
Advocates of FDI suggest that the exchange of investment flows benefits both the home country
and the host country, however some critics noted that

Suzerain And The Vassal Analysis
Greetings Regna,
Great technical writing. You gave some critical thinking points on Suzerain (overlord) and the
Vassal (servant). As pointed out by Fee and Gordon, In Old Testament times, covenants were often
given by an all powerful suzerain (overlord) to a weaker, dependent vassal (servant). The Israelites
were chosen to be a covenant keeping people and breaking the covenant led to dire consequences.
Fee and Gordon continue, What is important for your understanding is that in making a covenant
with Israel on Sinai, God used this well known covenant form when he constituted the binding
contract between himself (Yahweh = the Lord ) and his vassal, Israel. In return for benefits and
protection, Israel was expected to keep the many stipulations

Insulin Resistance In Horses
Each year about 340 horses die due to effects of insulin resistance. That is almost half the deaths
caused by horse racing. If a horse or pony suffering from Insulin Resistance and they eat high sugar

life threatening conditions. In horses that don t suffer from Insulin Resistance and Cushing s it

The elevated levels of cortisol that occur as a result of PPID are believed to contribute to the
insensitivity of stimulation and the resistance of laminitis. When the cortisol is secreted by the

Some experts also believe that stress can lead to a horse becoming laminitic because of the
increased cortisol secretion that occurs due to stress. Since Laminitis is so incredibly painful for
the horses and ponies affected it causes them to experience extreme stress, which in turn causes a
dramatic spike in cortisol levels

Effects Of Greed In Tao Te Chini
Across many texts, greed is a recurrent theme because its evil nature wreaks havoc in people s
lives. Further, greed causes many other sins such as lust, adultery, envy and theft. Acts such as
these lead people away from their moral compass and into a life of calamity and dissatisfaction.
Greed is often a well that is never filled and as humans are too weak to withstand their temptations,
they go to great lengths to try to quench their thirst. A compilation of Chinese poems titled Tao Te
Chingwritten by Laozi, illuminate how greed is a precipitate to things that go awry in life. As seen
through the scope of the Tao Te Ching, various events from the ancient Indian epic poem by
Valmiki, The Ramayana, as well as the Middle Eastern folk tales, The Thousand and One Nights,
showcase characters that struggle to cope with their greed. This paper will argue that greed is the
source of all evil because it blinds the sense of judgement and proportion leading people to take
immoral actions. It will conclude that redemption can only be found through self realization and
selflessness.
The Tao Te Ching focuses on the effects of greed and how it compromises people s lives. There
are different types of greed such as materialism and lust. They are desires for property and the
body which neither of the two is good in excess. Laozi further explains what greed brings to life by
stating, Free from desire, you realize the mystery. Caught in desire, you are only the manifestations

Theme Of Irony In Othello
Irony is the literary technique used and plays a great role in Othello. The most sinister and
threatening character is Iago, and therefore he creates tension and combat in the play. The use of
irony in Iago s monologues are what stimulates the action in the plot and intensifies it for the
audience, characters, and the readers. It also gives insight to Iagos true intentions and character. Iago
uses ironyin this way as a sport, and for his own personal happiness. Iago has a reputation for

Dramatic irony helped to build interest in the play, as only Iago and the audience know about
his plan, while the rest of the characters are manipulated. The audience is left wondering if
anyone will figure out Iago s deceiving plan before a tragic ending occurs. Consequently, the
audience s emotions are highly invested in the play, as we know Desdemona is innocent, and
does not deserve the doubt against her. The dramatic irony in the play is the most jealous
resentments over offenses that only Iago planted the seeds of, which creates the tragic events of
the play. On the other hand, verbal irony is used by Iago through his contradictory words which
suggests the opposite of his true identity. Iago speaks carefully and at length with Othello, and
uses his words wisely. He is then easily able to manipulate any character in front of him and plants
suspicion and jealousy throughout the play. In the end, Iago uses his mendacious traits to raise the

Howard government s amendment and the original Act on the basis that both laws were invalid.
With help from the Human Rights Law Resource Centre, Vickie and her lawyers claimed the
legislation breached Sections 7 and 24 of the constitution which relate to the election of the House
of Representatives and the Senate. Their argument was that the constitution states that both houses
must be directly chosen by the people . The Human Rights Law Resource Centre(HRLRC), director
Phillip Lynch stated the only rational and legitimate basis upon which the franchise can be limited
under the constitution is on the basis of a person s mental capacity, but prisoners, generally
speaking, have that capacity. Prisons have a high rate of indigenous population, approximately 22
percent. By refusing prisoners the right to vote the result was to exclude the indigenous population
and refuse them a political voice. This demonstrated that passing an unconstitutional law can affect
both the population and the making of

Most Of The Times Nietzsche Understands And Uses The Word
Most of the times Nietzsche understands and uses the word morality as the set of values and
ideals typical of Christian western society. In this sense, it is safe to say that Nietzsche opposes
morality and that genealogy serves the ultimate goal of undermining it. However, genealogy has of
course a scope for application beyond the particular moralityof 19th century Germans.
Accordingly, my claim is that in Nietzsche Christian western morality represents a particular
instance of a more general concept of what morality is. So for example, in the preface to On the
Genealogy of Morals Nietzsche claims that the object of the book is the valueof morality, or, of [...]
all that has hitherto been celebrated on earth as morality [...]. (GM P:3)... Show more content on

On one hand, Schacht s talk of spheres of life leads to transcend our often restricted understanding
of morality as including simply the realm of ethical rights and duties, or as being focused on
explaining why and how we should act in order to live morally. In Schacht s sense, morality rather
seems to include the mores of the Latin or the ethoi of the Greek. In other words, our morality is
the set of norms we live by in all the different situations we come across in our existence, including
many areas of life that the restricted understanding of morality would not consider as relevant. In
this sense, when we read the expression normative codes we should avoid thinking of the normative
as something necessarily imposed on us from an external authority. This, follows insofar our mores
/ethoi really shape us down to our essence, basically including any behaviour we may assume. More
often than not, we should understand these codes as normative insofar as they form our un
reflected habits namely, the way we automatically express ourselves in a particular context.
Lear work seems to go in a direction similar to Nietzsche s. Hence, in the first chapter I employed a
notion of morality built on Wittgenstein s and Taylor s understanding of morality/ethics as
encompassing everything which holds value for us thereby including for example

The Death Of Venice By Thomas Mann
In 1913, German writer Thomas Mann s most widely read novella entitled Death in Venice was
published. Born to Johann Heinrich Mann, and Julia da Silva Bruhns on June 6, 1875, in Lubeck,
Germany. Thomas Mann was not the type that excelled in school in fact in his own words he
finished school rather ingloriously (Mann, Thomas MannBiographical ). However, after the death
of his father during his mid teenage years, Mann moved to south of Germany, in Munich with his
mother. There in Munich, Mann began preparing for his career in journalism and by his early
twenties his first collection of short stories entitled Der kleine Herr Friedemann or as translated
Little Herr Friedemann were published (Mann/noble prize). This essay will... Show more content on

The polarity between Auschenbach s stiff cultural environment and his resulting lifestyle and the
aesthetically pleasing magnificent city...A city full of irresistible attraction, is the basis for the
moral of the novella (Mann, Death in Venice). The importance of Venice, Italy being chosen as the
second setting is that Venice is everything Auschenbach and his accustomed cultural environment
are not. And it is this very contrast that temps and leads Auschenbach down the rabbit hole. As
Hannelore Mundt also mentions in the sixth chapter of her literary criticism of Death in Venice,
Mann took inspiration from German philosopher and cultural critic, Friedrich Nietzsche (Anderson).
As stated in Professor Raymond Gray s lecture notes for Death in Venice . Mann was profoundly
influenced by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. Nietzsche s primary aesthetic treatise,
The Birth of Tragedy out of the Spirit of Music (1872) postulated the existence of two distinct and
opposing artistic tendencies (Gray). In the case of the protagonist von Auschenbach if whether it
was the austere cultural environment of his homeland of Germany or the paternal influence that
encourage a strict and decently simple lifestyle (Mann, Death in Venice). Psychologically, up until
the day in early May in which Auschenbach decided to refresh his mind with a walk outside in his
town of Munich, Germany, he was content in living with an Apollonian

A Palace In Time Heschel Analysis
As a dimension widely considered inextricable from human existence as a whole, concepts of time
and temporal existence often intersect with those of sacredness and spirituality. Indeed, many
religions equate time to mortality, with the temporal representing the irreligious and worldly
confines that precede eternity, Heaven, or Enlightenment. Contrarily, within the introductory
chapter of his text The Sabbath, entitled A Palace in Time, author and Jewish mystic Abraham
Joshua Heschel eloquently proposes the glorification of time as an inherently divine element.
To Heschel, time evokes divinity. The sabbatical observance and glorification of the seventh day
runs adjacent to that of God, who, accordingly, did not lackadaisically rest on the seventh day but
rather deliberately built the Sabbath and its underlying concept of menuhah abstractly defined by
the author as tranquility, serenity, peace, repose, and perhaps most importantly the essence of good
life. Heschel conceptualizes the Jewish Sabbath as a recurrent, sanctified moment in time by which
holiness exudes; essentially, his conception of sabbatical observation does not equate to the
popular, non theological understanding of Sabbath as rest and ... Show more content on

Instead, Heschel emphasizes the importance of the Sabbath as a moment of celebration of the
majesty of holiness in time, a day by which observant Jews carve out holiness in the experiential
moments of time amid the materialism of tangible space. Time particularly, sabbatical time thereby
does not undermine the practical importance of labor and civilization, but instead grants meaning to
these spatial elements. In short, as Heschel asserts, It is not a thing that lends significance to a
moment; it is the moment that lends significance to

Lisa Hilton What s Wrong With Skinny Essay
Walking into the library at most high schools brings to the eye an array of fashion magazines in
the front shelves. Most schools acknowledges that fashion has a large audience, but the skinnier
and skinnier models have created a large group of people with eating disorders and bad self
images. In her article What s Wrong with Skinny? that discusses eating disorders linked to the
fashion industry, Lisa Hilton states that women are so pathologically stupid that they are unable to
distinguish the fantasy of the runway from the realities of their own bodies . Fashion is something
that many girls let influence them into changing how they dress, feel, and eat; the skinnier the
models are (or are retouched to look), the more it supports eating... Show more content on

For the couture, we had to get up at 4 a.m. to be sewn into the clothes and there was huge pressure
to be thin. Models in the fashion industry have been getting thinner and thinner, with runway
models being size 0 to size 4 and plus size models being between sizes 6 and 14, and they qualify
for anorexia on the charts of eating disorders according to Rader Programs, an organization that
helps treat eating disorders. Most models use extreme dieting methods such as eating tissues and
lettuce to keep themselves thin. This is encouraged in the industry due to the need to stay thin.
Because these dieting techniques work for the models, some teenage girls get the idea that they can
do that as well. Anderson and Domenico found that women s magazines had 10.5 times more
dieting information than men s magazines, which mainly focus on sex and women s fashion
mistakes. Eating disorders have caused major problems in teens starving themselves just to stay

Jam-Packing The Room With Sound Analysis
The beginning of this poem is about how much the speaker likes loud music. For example the
speaker says the speakers throbbing which means the music from the speaker has a strong rhythm.
This is an Aural imagery. Jam packing the room with sound whether Bach or rock and roll means
to crowd to capacity the room with sound. Another phrase is the volume cranked up so each bass
notes is like a hand smacking the gut which means you feel the beat in your guts. Again this is a
aural image. This section obvious tells us how much the speak feels about loud music. The second
stanza is about the speaker. She likes to stepdaughter disagreement. The stepdaughter is four years
old. She likes the music decorous, pitched below her own voice that tenuous

Foreign Aid Essay
EFFECT OF FOREIGN AID IN KENYA
1. Introduction
Foreign aid is usually associated with official development assistance, which in turn is a subset of
the official development finance, and normally targeted to the poorest countries (World Bank,
1998). Foreign aid represents an important source of finance in most countries in sub Saharan
Africa (SSA), where it supplements low savings, narrow export earnings and thin tax bases. In
recent years the donor community has become more stringent about fiscal discipline and good
policies, which has led to freezing of donor funds to governments that do not conform with aid
conditionalities. The Kenyan government has experienced such aid cuts in the past.
1.1 Definition
The standard definition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A well designed aid plan can support effective institutions and governance by providing more
knowledge and transferring technology and skills. It is recommended to decentralize the aid
flows in recipient countries. Money aid is important but idea aid is even more important. Aid can
be the midwife of good policy in recipient countries. In poor policy countries, idea aid is especially
more essential than money aid. This implies that in a good policy environment, aid increases
growth via the investment channel whereas in a poor policy environment, it nurtures the reforms
through policymakers training or knowledge and technology transfer. These non money effects are
believed even more important and viable than the money value of aid. Aid works much better
where the reform is initiated or internalized by local government rather than when it is imposed by
outsiders. Therefore, aid is normally more effective when it facilitates efficiently and timely
reforms triggered by the local authority (World Bank, 1998).
Foreign aid or (development assistance) is often regarded as being too much, or wasted on corrupt
recipient governments despite any good intentions from donor countries. In reality, both the
quantity and quality of aid have been poor and donor nations have not been held to account. In
1970, the world s rich countries agreed to give 0.7% of their gross national income as official
international development aid, annually. Since

Building Roman Civilization Analysis
Intelligence and physical strength are equally contributed to the buliding of the city. They are
equally contibuted to the building of the city because of the way it was built, they had to figure
out what to do when it would not cut through the wood, also it took a lot of strength to lift it up.
It took intelligence to figure out how it was built. It states from the passage Building a Roman
City By: David Macaulay, The skilled laborers cut, polished, or carved inscriptions in the stone.
It also states, The clay was made into bricks and tiles in factories near Arretium. The clay, dug out
of large pits in the ground, was formed into standard shapes and sizes using wooden molds. The
mold was then removed and the wet clay was placed in an oven to dry and harden. All... Show more

It states from the passage, The unskilled workeers seperated and lifted the huge blocks from the
earth. It also states, The stone was usually cut with a saw. When the stone was very hard, the
blade used in the saw had no teeth; sand and steel filings were placed under the blade and the
back and forth motion of the saw ground away the stone. It also talks about where the wood that
they used for the city came from, it states, The wood used for scaffolding and roof framework
came from a forest at the foot of the Apennine Mountains to the south. This proves that another hard
part of the job was lifting the blocks up. In conclusion, building the city of Rome was super hard for
everyone. There was a job for everyone to take part in, and it all required hard work, intelligence
and phyical strength. If one person did not do their part then it would be hard for them to finish
because building the City of Rome was a difficult task you would have to have a lot of people who
were smart enough to do some parts of the job and you would have to have a lot of people who
were physically strong and could lift stuff and get the job

Compatibilism Essays
There are 3 basic views that can be taken on the view of determinism, (1) deny its reality, either
because of the existence of free will or on independent grounds; (2) accept its reality but argue
for its compatibility with free will; or (3) accept its reality and deny its compatibility with free
will.In this paper I am going to be defending the view compatibilism, specifically W. T. Stace s
view of compatibilism.
Compatibilism is the idea that determinism is true, every event in the world is caused, and that free
will still exists. Stace defends this view by saying the problem is the definition of free will. The
current definition of what free will is a completely and wholly uncaused action. However this
obviously would be completely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a few criticisms that are brought up against this compatibles view; in fact Stace brings
up possible objections himself. The first that I will consider is that there are some cases that are
borderline. For example, if somebody has a gun and puts it to your head and commands you to
do something it seems that you would have to do it even though the person with the gun is not
physically forcing you to do it. However I do not believe this to be a borderline case at all, even
if someone is holding a gun to your head you are still making the decision to do whatever it is
that they are telling you to do. It is still of your own mental state that you will do it out of your
own perceived state that whatever they are asking you to do would be preferable to your own
death. The second objection that he presents is that if you could somehow know that somebody
was going to do an action before they did it (even though this itself is very hard to believe) then
how could they have done otherwise. However I do not understand how this is detrimental to this
argument of compatibilism. Obviously if someone somehow new 100% for sure that you were
going to do something then to even ask if the person could have done otherwise is completely
absurd, they obviously would have, as in the first part of the statement its said that they couldn t.
Basically saying that hypothetically you will do an action with

Describe The Symptoms Of Dyslexia
3. List and describe the symptoms of dyslexia. When a child has problems on reading, we can
conclude that s/he may get dyslexia. Dyslexia is the most common learning disability. One of the
reasons that make dyslexia hard to be diagnosed is lack of the single test to accurately predict if a
child gets dyslexiaor not, since every child has different developing pace. For instance, some
children have problems on speaking out words, but s/he can remember other more complicated
things. People used to think that visual difficulty is the reason of dyslexia. However, people
now that dyslexia was generated by both speech and hearing difficulties. Even though there was
not single test to diagnoses dyslexia, if a child still unable to speak at 3 years old, then parents
should aware of dyslexia. Dyslexia does not only happen among children, it bothers adults as well.
For preschoolers, when they appear language developmental delay, it means that they are facing
dyslexia. Language developmental delay includes whole bunch of small factors. First, when a
child cannot pronounce words clearly, then this is the sign of dyslexia. Second, when a child
shows delay compared to his or her peers on speaking, this indicates that... Show more content on

For adults, symptoms are more likely to be connected to writing. The first symptom is that no
matter how much an adult knows about a field or subject, it is just so hard for him or her to put his
or her thoughts in words. Furthermore, when an adult is trying to avoid reading and writing by all
means, then this is also a sign of dyslexia. I can match myself to some of the symptoms in the
list, especially the last one. When an adult have difficulties on meeting deadlines. I used to
believe that I get procrastination. But now this symptom also shows up in dyslexia. I think I got
neither procrastination nor dyslexia; I was just too lazy to do my words as early as I

  • 2. The Next Phase Of Ending The Cold War Essay The Next Phase in Ending the Cold War The date is October 27, 1962, and it is a brisk fall day in Michigan. Normally, I could hear children playing outside of my office window but not today. Today, all that I can hear is wind passing through the city and the feeling of despair resonates throughout the populace. The blockade went up two days ago and I want to believe that it will be enough to subdue the U.S.S.R. forces but I am unsure if the blockade will hold. President Kennedy is entirely against using first strike measures because he does not want to enter another unnecessary war, however most citizens have lived in a state of panic and distress. The citizens believe that the strikes would be bad, but they would end the restlessness that can be felt even in the smallest of children. The biggest conversation politically is that President Kennedy is not fit to be president of the United States of America, due to his age and the recent failure, The Bay of Pigs . Conflict between Cuba, U.S.S.R, and the United States present two conclusions: These nations begin a nuclear war with few to none survivors or these nations do not participate in a nuclear war and everyone lives. I have been tasked with dealing with two scenarios: The first scenario is if we decided to strike Cuba, what does the day after look like. The second scenario is that if we wait and the United States is hit with a nuclear weapon from Cuba, what does October 28, 1962, look like for an average American. I ... Some examples of services offered by 3G wireless networks are CDMA2000 (also known as IMT MultiCarrier (IMTMC), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), and EDGE as well as a long list of others while 4G offer Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (Wimax2) and Long Term Evolution (LTE Advance). (WiBro, 2013) This allows users the ability to enjoy broadband Internet in cars or subways that run at high speeds. WiBro will soon become nearly obsolete with the advancement of the LTE network being available at lower cost because of the multiple service providers. 4G LTE Carrier Competition LTE s security enrichments, minimal dormancy and extraordinary speediness above 3G merely denote that a consumer will have the ability to manipulate practically any online operation conceivable on a cellular phone. The limitations of equipment that have caused numerous operations to be restrained are now issues of the past. Consumers increase in service/carrier elections is one of the dynamic influences which initiate competition amongst carriers. Additionally, there are numerous other influences that are triggering added curiosity in cellular technology nowadays that is additionally propelling such aggressive rivalry. • 4. High School Reflection Essay Have you ever just felt like high school was too easy? Well I have because I felt like the teachers just passed you on. They didn t give me a challenge like I was supposed to have and from that being, now I have to prepare myself for the college life and teach myself the things I was supposed to be taught in high school. The schoolI came from didn t have a math teacher or a history teacher all year so we just sat in the class rooms and played everyday all day and I still ended up passing and that school was Albany Early College. They told me that I would finish high school with an associate degree but all I got was a discombobulated school and an uncontrolled school. The next school I went to didn t care either. They showed me that I can skip class everyday and still pass with an A average. Despite all the things I didn t get taught in high school, I did learn some unique aspects that I can reflect on and use for college. The skills I reflect on are annotating, using the Cornell note taking system, and how to be on time for school. To begin with, the first aspect I reflect on from high school is annotating. Annotating helped me a lot when I was taking final exams and other test. This is one of the most I reflect on because I can use this skill to help me in college. I first learned how to annotate in the 11th grade when I was at Monroe Comprehensive High School. The way my teacher showed me how to annotate was to number the paragraphs then summarize the paragraphs individually, after doing that it helped me understand the passage better as if it was hard to comprehend. My teacher also told me to underline any sentences that look interesting to me and circle any words that I am not familiar with and go and look them up after I was done. But you don t just annotate and be done, but you have to go back and study what you annotated so you can get a full understanding of whatever you re annotating. Annotating is a big skill that I was taught because I can use it in other subjects other than English such as: History, Science, and other classes, but I can t annotate the same way in every subject. For example: If I annotate math the same way I do in History then my notes would be messed up because I am learning two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Harriet Tubman s 5 Paragraph Essay I have chosen to write a five paragraph essay about Harriet Tubman. I chose her because i was really amazed over all the things she did, not just escaping the slavery herself, but she also went back, risking her life, 19 times to help other slaves escape. Harriet was born in 1880, Dorchester County, Maryland, USA. She got 93 years old and died in 1913 in New York. She was married two times. The first time with John Tubman from 1844 to 1851, and the second time with Nelson Davies from 1869 to his death in 1888. She adopted a girl named Gertie with her husband Nelson Davies. During the civil war she was a nurse and a civil rights fighter. She belonged to Christianity her whole life. Harriet had a rough life, but she managed to help over 300 people out of slavery including herself. She did always carry a gun, and she was not afraid to use it. If the slaves agreed to escape, they wasn t allowed to go back. If they ever suggested to go back, she pointed the gun against their head and said; You walk on, or die . There was this time, a man who did not think they would get all the way to Canada and wanted to go back. Harriet threatened him with a gun, and a few days later, he was still in the group when they arrived to Canada. Harriet got known from her work for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 8. Engstrom Auto Case Introduction The Engstrom Auto Mirror plant employs over 200 people at its Indiana location. Since 1999, workers at the plant have received bonuses based on the Scanlon Bonus Plan, which paid a percentage of all labor savings each month. Workers were motivated by the bonuses to increase their productivity, thus saving the plant from its unprofitable state during the 1990s. However, in 2007, the plant once again faced issues of unproductivity and low profits. The plant manager, Ron Bent, had to lay off 46 employees in 2006, and employees had not received a bonus in seven months. Employees had become dissatisfied with the Scanlon Plan ( Engstrom , 2008, p. 1 6). This paper will examine the use of Scanlon Plan as an incentive program ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 6). Thus, employees feel as if their effort is not leading to the expected rewards, contributing to the lack of motivation. Finally, the current Scanlon plan, while initially successful, has many design flaws. The plan currently pays out bonuses so regularly that workers began to perceive the bonus as part of their regular paycheck, instead of associating the bonus with their own increased efforts ( Engstrom , 2008, p. 2). Thus, the plan, which originally was designed based on positive reinforcement, used a method of continuous rewarding, which reduces the durability of its results (Bauer Erdogan, 2013, p. 112). Conclusion Engstrom should create a modified Scanlon Plan that clearly relates bonuses to increased productivity, allows for feedback to improve performance, and sets goals for production would be the best way to motivate employees. First, the new Scanlon Plan should have a simplified payout calculation. The bonuses should not be paid on a continuous monthly basis, but rather on a fixed ratio schedule, which provides rewards every nth time the right behavior is demonstrated (Bauer Erdogan, 2013, p. 112). In practice, this would mean that employees are paid a bonus every time a certain amount of money in allowed payroll is reached. The current allowed payroll is at 38% of sales value ( Engstrom , 2008, p. 7, Exhibit 1). This does not have to be changed. Instead, as soon as Engstrom reaches an allowed payroll of one million dollars, then 10% of that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Dr. Kaplan s Practice At Boone Hospital I received an assignment to investigate a complaint on Dr. Michael Kaplan on 11/20/2014 regarding some concerns raised about Dr. Kaplan s practice at Boone Hospital. These concerns triggered an investigation by the medical executive committee (MEC). Dr. Kaplan elected to retire from the hospital, resign his medical staff appointment and clinical privileges. This was reported to the Board of Healing Arts and to the National Practitioner Databank. After serving a subpoena for the investigation at Boone Hospital, I received approximately 108 pages of documents from Nancy Tune, RN on 01/07/2015. In these documents I found that Dr. John J. Seaberg, M.D. had observed on March 14, 2014 Chris Kaplan dissect the implant pocket for a breast augmentation using the electro cautery and use a #10 scalpel blade to make the skin incision for an abdominoplasty while Dr. Mike Kaplan was sitting beside the operating table with his hands folded on the patient watching his wife operate. Mrs. Kaplan is not a nurse or a doctor. Dr. Seaberg believes that this is a violation of 334.2(4)d and 334.040. He feels that she is not qualified by training, skill, competency, age, experience, or licensure to perform such responsibilities. There is a copy of a letter from Dr. Seaberg to Mark Cohen, M.D. Chief of Staff of Boone hospital stating the above. This matter was referred to the Medical Executive Committee (MEC) to investigate this incident and Dr. Mike Kaplan s fitness to perform surgery. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Mormon Baptism A fascinating and difficult issue has emerged from a uniquely Mormon practice that stems from a religious fascination with genealogy. In fact, if a Mormon visits Salt Lake City, they are able to take advantage of a vast genealogical research facility at no cost. The practice in question, however, is not genealogical research, but the baptism of the dead. In the Mormon faith, the dead who were not able to discover the Mormon faith during their lifetimes for whatever reason such as, for instance, that they lived before the revelation to Joseph Smith are able to be brought into the faith by the proxy baptism of a living Mormon. The Catholic Church, a well organized religious body if ever there was one, sent notice to all local parish churches that no genealogical information about its members was to be shared with the Genealogical Society in Utah , the informational branch of the LDS church dealing with such matters. • 11. Analysis Of Samuel Beckett s Waiting For Godot Then the Two of Them Must Have Been Damned Absence of Reason in Religion in Waiting for Godot At first glance, Samuel Beckett s Waiting for Godot, appears to be an unavailing, pointless play whose only purpose is for comic relief. It is filled with off topic conversations and awkward silences that seem to show no correlation. However, when the confusing plot is analyzed, it is revealed that the play is an analogy of the futility of religion. The use of language in Waiting for Godot serves to illustrate the theme that religion is incompatible with reason and only brings Vladimir and Estragon confusion and sadness. By alluding to stories from the Bible, Vladimir and Estragon find themselves more confused about religion than more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Estragon: And why not? And only one speaks of a thief being saved. Why believe him rather than the others? () Beckett uses this allusion to show how confusing the details of religion were. The conversation reveals that the different gospels, although talking about the same scene, mention vastly different details, ultimately revealing that the Bible itself was conflicted in its views. Vladimir struggles both to figure out whether the thieves were saved or whether the story even existed. This uncertainty leads way to Beckett s views that religion can only be followed by mentally blind people. This can be seen when Pozzo appears in Act Two, and Estragon begins a word game to try to remember Pozzo s name: Estragon: To try him with other names, one after the other. It d pass the time. And we d be bound to hit on the right one sooner or later. Vladimir: I tell you his name is Pozzo. Estragon: We ll soon see. (He reflects.) Abel! Abel!Help! Estragon: Got it in one! • 12. Persuasive Letter For Tap Water In Schools Dear Members of the Downey Unified School District School Board, We value and admire your provision of drinking water for all of our scholars at DUSD schools. Thank you for allowing us to choose among installing drinking fountains that consist of school tap water, placing water dispensers that use bottled water, and supplying individual water bottles. I recommend that you install drinking fountains because tap water holds dominant affordability and environmental responsibility in differentiation to the other selections. Firstly, I recommend that you supply drinking fountains with tap water because they possess an affordable characteristic in comparison to the other options. For instance, a twenty four pack of water bottles costs an average price of three dollars. Once you buy seventy cases, the cost approximates to two hundred ten dollars. For a cooler filled with bottled water, each gallon of water costs roughly one dollar. If the school purchases seventy cases, it would cost nearly seventy dollars. These amounts of water, individually or combined, lack providing the school with enough water for even one day. However, the requirement for drinking fountains that use tap water is to finance money for the water bill. Further, Annie Leonard... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, the water from water coolers would be poured into plastic or paper cups, piling up the trash bins with waste, and producing just as much pollution as the water bottles. She claimed, Eighty percent [of plastic bottles from bottled water] end up in landfills, ...or...are burned, releasing toxic pollution. Understanding the Potential Penalties of your DUI or DWI Just when you ve gritted your teeth, pondering the potential penalties of your DWI charge and think you ll come out unscathed, your District Attorney will shoot for sentences indicative of your crime. These potential penalties stiffen when refusing various testing and getting busted within school zones or student crosswalks. These could be added to your current DWI offense as accessory charges, yet your attorney will probably get them dropped. Here s some alternative punishments to imprisonment that many attorneys will shoot for; note, New Jersey residents may not be given much of a choice. Driver Improvement Classes Everyone convicted, and sentenced, to various classes and programs could take advantage of state approved Driver Improvement Education which, upon successful completion, will take 3 points away from current license tally. Two classes, both costing $150 each, are offered for sentenced DWI offenders, and the general public. • 14. A Brief Look at Guantanamo Bay today Guantanamo Bay has been a big topic in today s society. On his campaign trail, President Obama pledged, I will close Guantanamo bay detention center within a year of being elected . My main argument has to be the amount of money were wasting on this prison. To be specific according to democratic lawmakers it has skyrocketed to $2.7 million per inmate. Guantanamo has been dubbed the most expensive prison on earth. President Barack Obamain May citied its cost then calculated at about $900,000 per prisoner. That s one of the many reasons to close it. My evidence supports my topic sentence because it just states fact of why this expensive prison should be shut down. It s common sense would you rather have all the money the tax payers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Seems unfair right? But if that doesn t convince you that this prison is worthless then this might. The pentagon wants to more improvements on the prison and spend more of YOUR hard working money. I guarantee you that the shutdown of this prison will bring a lot of great benefits. First the spending of ridiculous money on a prison will be out of the picture. Second the boycotts in front of the white house and government building will stop. People that want this prison close will do everything they can to get it shut down and create something more productive that can benefit everyone in the United States for the future. Even though my main argument has to be the amount of money we re wasting on this prison, they should close down the prison because we can t be wasting that much money on inmates that should be dead. The United State citizens who are paying from their taxes are not agreeing with this prison instead of wasting the money on that they can help the economy boost back up. This meant that they had to complete the mission, and their superiors did not necessarily care if the natives were pleased or harmed with the outcomes. As far as they were concerned, there was land that had not been claimed legally and they wanted it. This was a huge change for the natives from when they had met Lewis and Clark on their journey exploring the Louisiana Territory decades earlier because both parties involved were amicable and cooperative. Even later when more white settlers came west and moved into lands the Indians once occupied, they voluntarily moved onto reservations without major issues. This was accomplished fluidly because the natives, unlike the white settlers, did not consider land to be owned by any person or group; land was theirs to do with what they would, which was to survive and live rivers for water, animals for food, and other natural resources to create their homes, clothes, and instruments. The Battle of Big Hole was a demonstration of violence of action, and how rules of engagement have come to be created; the natives would have easily sat down and discussed the matters encircling the massive amounts of land available to them, but the settlers were misinformed and the government had a defense complex of doing what needed to be done for their side, and not necessarily thinking about alternative options to going in to battle ... • 23. Repercussions Of Revenge In Hamlet The Repercussions of Revenge Revenge is shown throughout Shakespeare s play Hamlet, leaving the destruction of human relationships in its wake. The act of vengeance is usually a violent act against someone as a result of something they directly or indirectly did. This can be seen in The Tragedy of Hamlet; Prince of Denmark with Hamlet s plan to murder Claudius for the death of his father, King Hamlet, and Laertes similar plan to murder Hamlet for the death of his father, Polonius. When someone is attempting to seek retribution against someone else, it results in that person deceiving the people they love to further progress their intentions. Because of revenge, ones suffering increases due to the continuous loss of relationships with your love ones. Revenge could even put you in a situation that could risk your own life. Throughout Shakespeare s play, William Shakespeare demonstrated how revenge leads to a path of deceit and despair. In the play, Hamlet shows how revenge can turn someone towards the dark side of life. This could be anywhere from lying and deceiving your loved ones to murdering helpless bystanders; all in order to further their own goal. Prior to Hamlet finding proof about what the ghost said, how Claudius murdered his father, he decided that if what he was told was true he would go down the path of vengeance to honor his father s memories. Hamlet started to lie to everyone he loved about his true intentions, so no one would suspect him attempting to kill the new king. He did this by tricking Polonius, Ophelia s father and King Claudius s advisor, into believing that the reason he was acting very strange was because he was terribly in love with Ophelia. In act two scene one, Ophelia exclaimed to her father that Hamlet acted as if he had been tossed out of hell... to speak of horrors he comes before me. Polonius responded by asking Mad for thy love? (93 95). Hamlet has succeeded in lying to everyone in the kingdom about why he is so depressed and confused by Polonius stating mad for thy love. The most sinister and threatening character is Iago, and therefore he creates tension and combat in the play. The use of irony in Iago s monologues are what stimulates the action in the plot and intensifies it for the audience, characters, and the readers. It also gives insight to Iagos true intentions and character. Iago uses ironyin this way as a sport, and for his own personal happiness. Iago has a reputation for honesty, consistency, and straightforward speaking. Othelloand others in the play refer to him as honest Iago , although this is juxtaposed with Iago s manipulation towards people around him. Dramatic irony helped to build interest in the play, as only Iago and the audience know about his plan, while the rest of the characters are manipulated. The audience is left wondering if anyone will figure out Iago s deceiving plan before a tragic ending occurs. Consequently, the audience s emotions are highly invested in the play, as we know Desdemona is innocent, and does not deserve the doubt against her. The dramatic irony in the play is the most jealous resentments over offenses that only Iago planted the seeds of, which creates the tragic events of the play. On the other hand, verbal irony is used by Iago through his contradictory words which suggests the opposite of his true identity. Iago speaks carefully and at length with Othello, and uses his words wisely. He is then easily able to manipulate any character in front of him and plants suspicion and jealousy throughout the play. In the end, Iago uses his mendacious traits to raise the tragic flaw of character in Othello. Shakespeare creates Iago as the process to the end of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the following paper I will be discussing what series of actions brought me to write this paper, the army regulations surrounding said actions, the possible effects these actions might have on the accomplishment of the mission, the possible affects on your career, and how to discourage and possibly stop such things from ever happening soon or ever again. The reason I am being subject to this time consuming, uninspired, and rather lackluster writing assignment is because I failed to be at the correct place of duty at the time appointed to me by my superiors. The commanding officer could be as lenient as letting you go with a stern yet fair warning and talking, you may find yourself picking up trash after work and during the weekends for anything between the parameters of seven to forty five days of extra duty. You may also suffer from the economical side of the house because they may decide to go ahead and cut your monthly pay in half for two whole months back to back. Last of the outcomes named here but the one that I personally believe to be the worst is the loss of rank. The can take one or all of the them depending on the severity of the cause being presented to the commanding officer. Rank is the thing that takes the most time to achieve the first time around coming up the ranks, to lose it after you have it makes it harder for you to be seeing as a professional and a soldier that is worth pushing forward to achieve to the next step in his career. Next we will discuss in this paper the impact such actions can have getting the mission finished, moral and appearance of the company or organization, and the direct impact it can have on the people you work closely with. Representative Democracy In Australia Australia is a Representative Democracy, which is an electoral system where the public gets to choose who represents them in both houses of parliament, the House of Representatives and the Senate. • 41. Most Of The Times Nietzsche Understands And Uses The Word Most of the times Nietzsche understands and uses the word morality as the set of values and ideals typical of Christian western society. In this sense, it is safe to say that Nietzsche opposes morality and that genealogy serves the ultimate goal of undermining it. However, genealogy has of course a scope for application beyond the particular moralityof 19th century Germans. Accordingly, my claim is that in Nietzsche Christian western morality represents a particular instance of a more general concept of what morality is. So for example, in the preface to On the Genealogy of Morals Nietzsche claims that the object of the book is the valueof morality, or, of [...] all that has hitherto been celebrated on earth as morality [...]. On one hand, Schacht s talk of spheres of life leads to transcend our often restricted understanding of morality as including simply the realm of ethical rights and duties, or as being focused on explaining why and how we should act in order to live morally. In Schacht s sense, morality rather seems to include the mores of the Latin or the ethoi of the Greek. In other words, our morality is the set of norms we live by in all the different situations we come across in our existence, including many areas of life that the restricted understanding of morality would not consider as relevant. In this sense, when we read the expression normative codes we should avoid thinking of the normative as something necessarily imposed on us from an external authority. This, follows insofar our mores /ethoi really shape us down to our essence, basically including any behaviour we may assume. More often than not, we should understand these codes as normative insofar as they form our un reflected habits namely, the way we automatically express ourselves in a particular context. Lear work seems to go in a direction similar to Nietzsche s. Hence, in the first chapter I employed a notion of morality built on Wittgenstein s and Taylor s understanding of morality/ethics as encompassing everything which holds value for us thereby including for example ... • 43. A Palace In Time Heschel Analysis As a dimension widely considered inextricable from human existence as a whole, concepts of time and temporal existence often intersect with those of sacredness and spirituality. Indeed, many religions equate time to mortality, with the temporal representing the irreligious and worldly confines that precede eternity, Heaven, or Enlightenment. Contrarily, within the introductory chapter of his text The Sabbath, entitled A Palace in Time, author and Jewish mystic Abraham Joshua Heschel eloquently proposes the glorification of time as an inherently divine element. To Heschel, time evokes divinity. The sabbatical observance and glorification of the seventh day runs adjacent to that of God, who, accordingly, did not lackadaisically rest on the seventh day but rather deliberately built the Sabbath and its underlying concept of menuhah abstractly defined by the author as tranquility, serenity, peace, repose, and perhaps most importantly the essence of good life. Heschel conceptualizes the Jewish Sabbath as a recurrent, sanctified moment in time by which holiness exudes; essentially, his conception of sabbatical observation does not equate to the popular, non theological understanding of Sabbath as rest and ... Introduction Foreign aid is usually associated with official development assistance, which in turn is a subset of the official development finance, and normally targeted to the poorest countries (World Bank, 1998). Foreign aid represents an important source of finance in most countries in sub Saharan Africa (SSA), where it supplements low savings, narrow export earnings and thin tax bases. In recent years the donor community has become more stringent about fiscal discipline and good policies, which has led to freezing of donor funds to governments that do not conform with aid conditionalities. A well designed aid plan can support effective institutions and governance by providing more knowledge and transferring technology and skills. It is recommended to decentralize the aid flows in recipient countries. Money aid is important but idea aid is even more important. Aid can be the midwife of good policy in recipient countries. In poor policy countries, idea aid is especially more essential than money aid. This implies that in a good policy environment, aid increases growth via the investment channel whereas in a poor policy environment, it nurtures the reforms through policymakers training or knowledge and technology transfer. These non money effects are believed even more important and viable than the money value of aid. Aid works much better where the reform is initiated or internalized by local government rather than when it is imposed by outsiders. Therefore, aid is normally more effective when it facilitates efficiently and timely reforms triggered by the local authority (World Bank, 1998). Foreign aid or (development assistance) is often regarded as being too much, or wasted on corrupt recipient governments despite any good intentions from donor countries. In reality, both the quantity and quality of aid have been poor and donor nations have not been held to account. Compatibilism Essays There are 3 basic views that can be taken on the view of determinism, (1) deny its reality, either because of the existence of free will or on independent grounds; (2) accept its reality but argue for its compatibility with free will; or (3) accept its reality and deny its compatibility with free will.In this paper I am going to be defending the view compatibilism, specifically W. T. Stace s view of compatibilism. Compatibilism is the idea that determinism is true, every event in the world is caused, and that free will still exists. Stace defends this view by saying the problem is the definition of free will. The current definition of what free will is a completely and wholly uncaused action. There are a few criticisms that are brought up against this compatibles view; in fact Stace brings up possible objections himself. The first that I will consider is that there are some cases that are borderline. For example, if somebody has a gun and puts it to your head and commands you to do something it seems that you would have to do it even though the person with the gun is not physically forcing you to do it. However I do not believe this to be a borderline case at all, even if someone is holding a gun to your head you are still making the decision to do whatever it is that they are telling you to do. It is still of your own mental state that you will do it out of your own perceived state that whatever they are asking you to do would be preferable to your own death. The second objection that he presents is that if you could somehow know that somebody was going to do an action before they did it (even though this itself is very hard to believe) then how could they have done otherwise. However I do not understand how this is detrimental to this argument of compatibilism. Obviously if someone somehow new 100% for sure that you were going to do something then to even ask if the person could have done otherwise is completely absurd, they obviously would have, as in the first part of the statement its said that they couldn t.
