Pasadena City College Internship Report
During my past three years at Pasadena City College I was able to explore courses and narrow my interests in a way
that may not have been possible at an expensive university. While I have always had an interest in the technical and
scientific disciplines, out of high school I was unfocused. I wanted to be a part of something that impacted my
community in a positive manner. When first looking into careers I never considered a technical based career, mainly
due to family career history. However, as I began to excel in math and MESA organizers got more involved in my
success I realized there was a space for my interest in STEM.
Throughout my academic endeavor I have earned a spot in two very diverse internships. My first internship was with
LADOT. It focused on my individual skills and how to apply them to singular tasks. I was primarily involved in GIS
mapping and worked alongside traffic and computer engineers. Though this was an informative and rigorous
internship I found my true inspiration in my engineering professor at Pasadena City College. Dr. Arzoumanian is a
successful civil engineer with practice in the private sector. After discussing with her the positive experiences that
she has had I knew that I wanted to lead a similar career ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The internship took a different perspective, it was a collaborative effort that brought people of various disciplines
together to accomplish a greater task. I worked with a collaborative of students with majors ranging from film and
geography to computer science and mechanical engineers. To be working with a group of intelligent and civil minded
people made the process more productive. Having experienced students working together allowed us to learn from
each others strengths and ultimately accomplish a greater

Robert Frost Fact Sheet
Frost ran through the forest at full speed. All he could see were blurs of green and brown trees. He knew his only
chance at survival was to outrun the pack, but that was not an easy task. As Frost ran he recalled how he ended up
here, he had been invited to a pack hunt. This was both very unusual and an honor, the reason being that Frost is an
omega in his pack. The pack had successfully hunted down three large bucks. As an omega Frost was given a low
ranking job, his job along with the other omega s was to take the food home. After that they would have a feast, Frost
being ranked omega would eat last along with the other omegas. That is where Frost made his mistake, Frost had
dishonored the Alpha therefore the whole pack. Now the hunting party that had been assembled yesterday was
hunting him, including his fellow omega friends. He knew the Alpha must had threatened their families, otherwise
they would never hunt him. Frost tries to keep running, but his legs won t work correctly. Out of the corner of his eye

How can I use her speed to my advantage? Frost Interpend the question in his mind.
Can I use her speed as an advantage? Frost thought shyly.
Than it clicked he could use her speed to leave a false trail for the pack. Out of nowhere Frost put on a burst of speed.
As fast as his feet went down they came up, then he dead stopped. A rushing river pounded in front of him. Frost
backed up then sprang into the air, then over the river. He hoped that Rain would be able to jump the wide river. Frost
brought up another burst of speed but stopped before he went anywhere. Rain had jumped across the river and now
she stood beside Frost.
About time you caught up. Frost joked.
Oh, please I can outrun you any day. Rain laughed.
We should go, your brother is probably on our tails. Frost murmured as he started

Overburdening Poin Sports
In Detroit, a youth soccer coach named Marilyn Enmark has seen enough of parents overburdening their children. In
2004, one of Enmark s players on the youth soccer team she coaches, a seven year old boy, had injured his head
while playing soccer indoors. His father, being a former soccer player, went up to the boy and instead of helping him,
the father reprimanded the poor boy. A week later, after practice the boy s mother did the same and according to
Enmark, the boy ended up in tears. Children and adolescents must not play competitive sports to reduce the pressure
being put on them and to save many from being injured. The boy s father is not alone since many other parents dream
of their child to become the next famous sports player. Although, some parents let those dreams get the best of them
and eventually they start pushing their children to win. Avery Faigenbaim, an associate professor of exercise science
at the University of Massachusetts in Boston, has asked kids why they quit sports and their typical response is that
they didn t think sports were fun anymore. Young children play for fun and to make new friends but parents have

Seatbelts In My College Career
In order to commence an awe inspiring journey, one must have legitimate support to get them off to a great start and
keep them going till they scorch pass the finish line. It s like getting on to a rollercoaster and having to put on
seatbelts in order for the ride to begin. I have been working diligently towards searching and applying for a myriad of
scholarships and financial aid in order to constitute a virtual seatbelt that will protect me throughout my college
career. The dilemma is not that people lack money for college, but rather it s that people lack effort in searching for
help. Without that protection in place one could plunge into debt and instead of leaving college to pursue a dream one
could end up cemented in a nightmare. Once that seatbelt is firmly built it is now time to ... Show more content on

Essay on The Emergence of the Chartist Movement
The People s Charter, drafted in 1838 by William Lovett and Francis Place was at the heart of a radical campaign for
parliamentary reform of the inequity remaining after the Reform Act of 1832. The charter contained six points that
were to be presented to parliament, these where:

li value= 2 No Property qualifications
li value= 3 Annual Parliaments
li value= 4 Equal representation (constituencies of equal size)
li value= 5 Payment of members

When the reform act emerged the working classes where dissatisfied as the act which promised so much delivered
very little.
The act did not enfranchise the working classes and the attitude of the Whig government in power offered little hope
to the working classes of them achieving the right to vote, this split the working class and set the working class
against the government.
Hostility between the working classes and the government intensified further with the implementation of the poor
law in 1832. The aim of the poor law was to reduce the burden of costs to the ratepayers, remove inefficiency and
end the giving of relief to those
in their own homes and insist that they enter the workhouse if in need of help or support. This new act led to fear and
suspicion as the workingman was being punished by the upper class as well as a distinction between the `deserving
and `undeserving poor. They saw this as being punished for being poor.
The Poor Law Amendment act Passed Stated That:
No able bodied person was to receive money or other help from the Poor Law authorities except in a workhouse;
Conditions in workhouses were to be made very harsh to discourage people from wanting to receive help;
Workhouses were to be built in every parish or, if parishes were too small, in unions of parishes;
Ratepayers in each parish or union had to elect a Board of Guardians to supervise the workhouse, to collect the Poor
Rate and to send reports to the Central

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Judicial Appointment...
Justice of India, the appointment should be made as a healthy convention. In July 1998, the President of India asked
for the advisory opinion of the Supreme Court on various areas of the judgment of 1993 including the issue of
consultation. In October 1998, the Supreme Court in its advisory opinion confirmed the primacy of the Chief Justice
s opinion over that of the President in appointing judges. The Court, however, observed that the sole, individual
opinion of the Chief Justice of India does not constitute consultation within the meaning of Arts 217 and 222(1) of
the Constitution. In appointing judges to the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice must make a recommendation in
consultation with the four most senior puisne judges of the Supreme Court. In the case of appointments to the High
Courts, the Chief Justice must consult the two most senior puisne judges of the Supreme Court. The views of the

Despite this, in order to maintain public confidence in the appointment system and to ensure judicial independence
the commission system is perhaps a very effective mechanism for judicial appointment. However, to ensure the
effectiveness of this mechanism the commission should be representative in nature comprising members of the
executive, legislature, judiciary, legal profession and lay persons. In addition, it should be ensured that the
commission uses a system which is transparent and open to public scrutiny. In this regard the composition and

may be very effective to ensure the appointment of the best qualified people to judicial

Baz Luhulmann Film Techniques
Baz Luhrmann was born Mark Anthony Luhrmann on the 17th of September 1962 in Sydney Australia. Baz
Luhrmann is a successful film director, screenwriter and producer who is well known for his Red Curtain Trilogy
which includes films such as Strictly Ballroom (1992), Romeo and Juliet (1996) and Moulin Rouge (2001). Baz s
first films were inspired by his background as both his parents did ballroom competitions, His mom was a ballet
dancer and Baz did ballroom dancing when he was younger which influenced one of his first films, Strictly
Ballroom. Baz Luhrmann s father owned a movie theatre which was where Baz Luhrmann first became enthralled by
the world of movies and storytelling. Luhrmann uses great editing techniques and wants to tell a story behind every
camera angle he makes emphasis on. He is the kind of director who always knows exactly what he wants in the film
and how he wants it to look like in the end. Baz Luhrmann s movies all show similarities but are different in their
own ways.

The cinematic language of a movie is the way in which the movie is shot and edited, this also includes the way the
actors are dressed as well as their make up. Cinematic language also assists in telling the story.
In both Strictly Ballroom and The Great Gatsby, Luhrmann uses music that is jazzy and upbeat and that the audience
can relate to. In the movie Romeo and Juliet, he uses upbeat and dramatic music throughout the film. He uses lights
and camera angles that make the films look un natural. The characters in the film are over exaggerated and this is
shown in their make up and costumes. The costumes are sparkly and short and the actors wear a lot of make up. The
actors in Romeo and Juliet wear outfits that one would not usually consider wearing on a day to day basis, these

The End Of The Second World War Essay
After the end of the Second World War Canada was not a major power but enjoyed international recognition and
influence on international issues. Due to this position, it was classified as a middle power whose influence could be
leveraged in solving international disputes (Paris, 1997). The approach adopted by the country was that of liberal
internationalism which promotes the use of multilateralism, diplomacy and peaceful methods in solving conflicts. Its
traditional values in foreign policy are neutrality and mediation. The country has also been instrumental in
peacekeeping missions and committed to multilateral organizations (Potter, 1996). However, since the establishment
of the Harper regime, there has been a considerable change in the country s foreign policy. These changes include a
more active participation in the war against terror, its alignment with the western ideologies especially regarding the
Middle East and its reduced involvement in multilateralism (Boucher, 2009).
A middle power in international relations is a sovereign state that is neither a superpower nor a great power but
nevertheless enjoys international recognition and has influence on international issues. The concept of middle powers
arises from the division of the world into classes according to their military and economic capabilities. This division
provides a state s relative power in international relations and includes division into great power, major power,
middle power and minor power

Guilt In Maus II By Art Spiegelman
In Maus II, Art Spiegelman emphasizes the effect that guilt has on him and his father. This guilt is the product of
Vladek and Art s relationship with the Holocaust as a whole. In Maus II, the relationship between the past and the
present is relatively important. In the very beginning of chapter one, we see how Art reflects on this idea of guilt in
detail. When Art and Francoise are driving to Catskills, he states that he wishes that he would [have] been in
Auschwitz with [his] parents so [he] could really know what they lived through! where he comments that it is some
form of guilt about having an easier life than they did (Spiegelman II, 14). This form of guilt stems from never
having to live through the Holocaust. Moreover, Art is not

President Andrew Jackson Essay
President AJ Andrew Jackson was born in 1767, and grew up in the border of North and South Carolina. He attended
frontier schools and acquired the reputation of being fiery tempered and willing to fight all comers. He also learned
to read, and he was often called on by the community to read aloud the news from the Philadelphia papers.
In 1775, with the beginning of the American Revolution, Andrew Jackson, then only 13 years old became an orderly

British sympathizers known as Loyalists or Tories. His brother Hugh was killed, and when the British raided

was active in local politics, he took little interest in national affairs. The one exception was his brief involvement
with the so called Burr conspiracy. Former Vice President Aaron Burr, determined to restore his personal fortunes,
convinced Jackson that he had government backing to lead a filibustering expedition into Mexico. Jackson agreed to
build him some boats, but when he realized that Burr and his group were acting entirely on their own, he
immediately dropped his connection with the scheme. Jackson s hot temper involved him in a number of feuds and
duels. Many of them were caused by remarks made about his marriage. The duel with Charles Dickinson in 1806
stands out as an example of Jackson s characteristic refusal even to acknowledge the possibility of defeat. Jackson let
his opponent fire first, because Dickinson was a faster and better shot. Allowing himself time to take deliberate aim,
Jackson planned to kill his man with a single bullet, even if he had shot me through the brain. Thus, Jackson took a
bullet in the chest and, without flinching, calmly killed his man. Jackson was also

The s Perspective On Alcohol Abuse
Bruffee s Perspective on Alcohol Abuse Bruffee was unsuccessful in grabbing my attention because his persuasive
ways were weak and ineffective. I find his persuasiveness to be imprecise with no correlation between binge drinking
and loneliness. For instance, his claims are supported based on personal experiences and personal observations such
as students having difficulty making a new group of friends, being desperate to belong and creating an academic
background. Unlike Weschler, Bruffee does not use scientific studies, real examples and realistic solutions to
adequately connect binge drinkers and introverts; therefore, Bruffee is less successful because he failed to support
many of his claims, and his conclusion is incomplete. First of all, there is some credibility in his article trying to
capture the reader interest in why binge drinking is an issue on college campuses, in which he provides statistic
reports with cause and effect. However, credibility gets lost when he uses himself as an example of why students join
fraternities. Bruffee says that one of the reasons he joined was because he felt desperate to belong. In addition,
Bruffee also implies that Fitting in motivates freshmen students to join fraternities and sororities which leads them to
binge drinking. In my own perspective, his claims are lacking support and based on assumptions of his own
experience that comes off as vague and inaccurate; most of the students would not join a fraternity just because

Tobago Essay
The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has decided to construct a new school at the beginning of the year 2016.
This is due as the island is ranked sixty fourth (64th) in the Global Education Index (United Nations Development
Programme 2013) and there is a drive to increase the island s global ranked by the Education Ministry of Trinidad
and Tobago. As a result, they have authorized a formal report to determine potential sites that the school can be built
on in which official bodies will investigate further. To accomplish this goal, applications of Geographic Information
Systems were utilized to assess land suitability in Trinidad with several criteria provided by the Government along
with relevant data sources. Several areas throughout the western coast of Trinidad with potential/ideal sites were
discovered.
Introduction
According to the World Bank, the twin island s population is 1.354 million in 2014 and is increasing by 0.3% per
year. As a result of slow population increase there are several issues which would arise such as food security and
environmental degradation. The Education sector of a country is important and plays a vital role in the development
the general population. Investing in the island s education system is essential for reducing inequality and poverty.
Thus, the government of Trinidad and Tobago would like to expand the sector as education is a fundamental part in
the development of its people. The government would like to develop a

The Battle Of The Revolutionary War
On two sides of a field, stand two armies. Both have rows of soldiers standing side by side, shoulder to shoulder,
with their muskets raised, gleaming in the sun, and their bayonets strapped to the their sides. The difference between
them being that one army, is highly trained and outnumbers the other, while the other army, is small and poorly
trained; equipped with only some skills they ve gathered in the few months of training. This is the Continental Army
and the Red Army, in the first of the many battles of the Revolutionary War. The Continental Army, made up of
colonists that were fed up with Britain s countless oppressive laws, unfair taxes, and infuriating actions, wanted
independence from Britain. On July 4, 1776, The Declaration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thomas Paine, a great journalist who encouraged the fight for independence, was one of the supporters of the war
who helped strengthen the fighting colonists (Ayers, de la Teja, Schulzinger, White, 2007). For instance, a series of
articles he wrote called The American Crisis, was read by Washington to revive the spirits of his struggling army at
Valley Forge:
These are the times that try men s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from
the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Thomas
Paine, The American Crisis
The continuing encouragement and support of passages like this that the Continental Army received, motivated them
to keep fighting and pull through the war. It was one of the most important reasons the colonists were victorious in
the end. Furthermore, there was also great leadership. Although the Continental Army had a shortage of supplies and
a weakly trained army, they certainly didn t lack a strong military leadership. This leadership was provided by
George Washington. Though he s known much better as a president, he was also a brilliant military leader (Ayers et
al., 2007). He was a vital part of America s victory against the British because of his management of his army and his
encouraging and inspiring words to them during their struggles (Ayers et al., 2007). For instance, during the winter at

Good Life In The Great Gatsby
A goal tempted to be achieved by people all over the world is the good life. The idea of endless happiness is pleasing
to everyone. Three components found in achieving the good life is an intensive feeling of affection a person feels,
when their heart starts racing when they see something they love. Feeling belonged in a society helps a person feel
connected and less lonely, and significance to the world and to the people, feeling that one was put on this earth to

components in making the good life achievable. Achieving the feeling of love is desperately wanted among

Khn s Reflections On My Critics
3.1 Kuhn s Reflections on his Critics In his paper Reflections on my Critics Kuhn defended his view of science
against the criticisms raised at London Colloquium. He observed that the criticisms were mainly focused on four
points: methodology, normal science, paradigm change, and the nature of paradigms. Kuhn believed that most of his
critics misunderstood his description of scientific development, and hence he sought to clarify his position further.
Kuhn noted that his critics claimed that his method is historical, descriptive, and relies on social psychology, whereas
their own method is logical and normative. He defended his position by affirming that both of his view and his critics
rely on historical case studies and observations on scientific behaviour. The only difference is that he, contrary to his
critics, began as an historian of science to construct a theory of scientific knowledge. I am no less concerned with
rational reconstruction, with the discovery of essentials, than are philosophers of science. My objective, too, is an
understanding of science, of the reasons for its special efficacy, of the cognitive status of its ... Show more content on

and factors such as personality, education, and past experience play a role in dictating individual s choice. Finally,
Kuhn contended that his view of science involves normative implications: The structure of my argument is simple
and, I think, unexceptionable: scientists behave in the following ways; those modes of behaviour have (here theory

scientists should behave essentially as they do if their concern is to improve scientific

A Joint Tenant With Rights Of Survivorship
Martin is a joint tenant with a right of survivorship with his friends Peter, John, and Thomas. All of them have passed
away, and Martin has not been back to the property in more than 20 years. Consequently, Peter indicated in his will
that he was leaving his interest in the property to his son Andrew. Andrew has taken a personal loan out and used his
part of the interest in the property as collateral. The lender has initiated a legal action to foreclose on the property.
Unfortunately, this type of property co ownership is known as joint tenancy with rights of survivorship and the
portion of the interest that is now owned by Andrew, in fact, can be attached by creditors. Andrew s father, Peter, left
his share of his interest of the property to him as joint tenancy with rights of survivorship in an effort to provide him
with quick and easy access to the property. According to Michael L. Johnson, the advantages of placing assets in
joint ownership with rights of survivorship is to avoid the cost of administration upon death of the creator and to

The Importance Of Public Transportation In Urban
Public transportation in rural areas of course operate to serve communities and individuals that live and work outside
of urban areas. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the need for rural public transportation has
historically been linked with providing mobility and accessibility to essential employment, goods, and services for
older adults, persons with disabilities, low income persons, and others. Perhaps surprisingly, nearly 10% of rural
public transportation trips were for residents seeking medical attention. The public transportation s remaining rides in
rural areas provide transport for employment and education as well as for social and recreational activities where
residents might not otherwise be inclined or even able to participate in these endeavors. According to the National
Association for State Community Services Programs, low income workers and households typically reside either in
rural locations or in city centers, with modern jobs emerging further and further away from either of these two
locations. For rural Americans and for this reason, public transportation offers the opportunity to access a better job
and a better life. All over the country rural transportation services have developed to serve the rural communities and
the citizens that live in these areas. According to the Community Transportation Association of America, in 2014
over 1400 agencies provide public transportation in rural and small towns.

Theme Of Betrayal In Jane Eyre
In the novel, Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Brontë there were many incidents that had affected the overall plot of the book.
Sometimes an author adds certain events or ideas to help accentuate the plot. In this novel there is a recurring theme
of betrayal. The one that seems to be affected by the curse of betrayal the most is the main character, Jane Eyre,
herself. Her first encounter with betrayal came about when she was still just a child. And as she grew older and
experienced the world new ways unlike before, she could never escape the curse of betrayal. Jane s first encounter
with betrayal was when she was still a child and her Uncle Reed brought her along to live with him and his family in
Gateshead, after Jane s parents had passed away. Jane s Uncle Reed had promised to raise her as if she were one of
his own children. However, this only lasted until Uncle Reed passed away. After Jane s uncle had passed, Jane s aunt
and her three children had mistreated her and in some cases physically abused. On one particular day she was
minding her own business whilst reading Bewick s History of British Birds, her obnoxious cousin John Reed was
looking for Jane. Once he finds her, he treats her as if she was inferior to him, he wants his cousin to refer to him as
Master Reed. This already not being indicative of raising Jane as one of their own, her cousin John continues to
undermine her even more and takes the book from her and ends up throwing it at her causing her to get a cut by

JC Penney s market share is currently at an all time low. On December 8 of 2016, the company s share s market value
was $10.56 and currently, the share s market value is $2.66. Which is roughly a 75% decrease of $7.90. Investors
predict the stock will continue to diminish in value. As a result of slow moving inventory, JC Penney closed down
138 stores on April 17, which is around 13 percent of their store portfolio. The CEO stated changes were made to
accelerate inventory liquidation across apparel divisions, to increase investment opportunities in areas like

Optimism And Pessimism In The Great Gatsby
I believe that the three texts that I have studied contained moments of optimism and pessimism which in turn have
shaped my opinion of the general vision and viewpoint. This alludes to the feelings and emotions portrayed through
the omniscient camera in The King s Speech , the morally inclined narrator Nick Caraway in The Great Gatsby and
the protagonist in the novel Foster . I was very intrigued to find out more about these societies and the vision the
author/director hoped to convey.
The Great Gatsby opens in the boom years in the summer of 1922, commonly known as the Jazz Age . The opening
is conveyed as a mix of optimism and pessimism. At first we are introduced to Nick Caraway,
A young man in the bond business who is ebullient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In T.K.S, Bertie faced a barbaric upbringing which he solemnly shared with Logue. This is evident when he revealed
how cruel his nanny was, tunelessly singing She pinch me so I d cry, and be sent away at once, then she wouldn t
feed me, far far away. (speaks) Took three years for my parents to notice. As you can imagine, it caused some
stomach problems. This left me feeling much more sympathetic towards Bertie and further implemented my
pessimistic opinion of the portrayal of children in the past. This is also seen in T.G.G as Pammy, Daisy s daughter is
only seen once during the entire 1920 s novel and we realise that she, like Bertie, had nannies who took care off her
rather than her parents. A sense of negativity is also conveyed towards children here as Gatsby ,when first introduced
to Pammy, was described as looking at the child with surprise. I don t think he had ever believed in its existence. she
is described as an it and Gatsby then realises that he can t repeat the past with Daisy and that his obsessive longing
for her was a waste of time. I believe that this pessimistic feeling was a factor in his volatility towards Tom in the
Plaza. Similarly in Foster , Mildred like a predator, pounced on the innocent protagonist and questioned her about the
Kinsella s personal affairs such as where does the old dog sleep, Is she allowed to spend.... . Mildred then
inconsiderately informed the little girl of the Kinsella s boy s passing, stating sure didn t he follow that auld hound of
theirs into the slurry tank and drown...... The soft hearted fool. in a callous tone. Personally I feel that each of the

An Industry Analysis of Samsung Essay example
Question 1) How attractive is Samsung s primary (core) industry? Conduct an industry analysis.
Five Forces Model: 1. Barriers to Entry
Because of the extremely intricate and sophisticated nature of manufacturing semiconductors, a competitor should
expect high initial capital requirements to build facilities needed for production. Cost to build a new semiconductor
fab has gone up from $200 million in 1985 to $3 Billion in 2004. Incumbent companies have capabilities to design
newer generations of semiconductors with greater amounts of memory and processing abilities that make older
generations obsolete. Older generations tend to drop half their amount in price one year after a new model is reduced

The business level strategy of Samsung s memory chip business unit is an integrated strategy. Remarkably, they have
both a cost advantage and a value advantage over their competitors. In this section we will describe how Samsung
widens the wedge through cost and value drivers. The data presented in Appendix 1 shows that Samsung s cost
advantage accounts for majority of their competitive advantage.
Value drivers: quality/reliability; large product mix including frontier products; customization; HR Policies; and
employees.
Cost drivers: economies of scale; learning and experience curve; product design; and single production Site.
Learning and experience Curve: Between 1983 and 1985, Samsung allocated more than $100 million in into DRAM
technology, even paying another firm to teach them how to produce 64k DRAMs. As the market grew, firms tried to
catch up to where Samsung already had a foothold. To further make advancements efficiently, Samsung has had
separate R amp;D groups compete within their company to come up with the same solution.
Product Design: The chairman chose a stacking design that proved be advantageous over companies that chose a
trenching design. A core design was also used for their customized products.
Economies of scale: Samsung invested $1 billion dollars to create a production process that made a 12 inch wafer. A
larger wafer meant more chips could be cut at the same time. See A2
Single production Site: It is estimated that this saved

An Episode Of War By Stephen Crane

English 9
3/12/17
Without a Name An Episode of War by Stephen Crane is a short story about a lieutenant in an unnamed war during
the late 1890s being shot during an everyday routine. While it is not out of the ordinary to be shot during a war, a
note sticks out: the gritty reality of war tends to glob soldiers of all ranks together to form a nameless mass which
Crane emphasizes. The lieutenant has no name, the war has no name, the soldiers have no name, nothing. Everyone
is a cog in the wheel and when one breaks, they are quickly replaced. The narrative is driven by the lieutenant s
actions to demonstrate Crane s stylistic approach of American Realist. The American Realist movement is a focus on

Those coming back from battle are in high spirits for defeating the enemy but uncaring about those wounded.
However, Crane s world is one deeply rooted in how soldiers would behave in a realistic fashion. An Episode of War
by Stephen Crane proves to be a fantastic way to illustrate the stylistics of the American Realist movement. The grit
of the war and the formation of the blob army where each person is indistinguishable from the next provides a
realistic view on how wars were fought during this time period. The way Crane shows off the world he creates is an
intriguing fashion; a man severely wounded walking around with a battle raging on while he is pumping full of
adrenaline. An Episode of War shows how a nameless character is capable of showing off a world with minimal
effort. Sources Cited

Netflix Argumentative Essay
It is no secret that pretty much everyone has a Netflix account, and everyone is always binge watching a new show.
So when it was decided that our favorite shows from the past were going to come back on Netflix, account holders
went wild and those who didn t have an account made sure they got one beforehand.
Take for example Fuller House: Full House was a family favorite from when it first aired, to when the younger
generation watched it at night before they went to bed. So, they decided it was a good idea to bring it back on Netflix
for what the creators thought was only going to be a chunk of episodes. However, (like I could have guessed it
would,) it took off, and viewers were asking for a season 2 and more episodes. Fans of the show

So now after the success of Fuller House, writers of television shows became inspired. For example Gilmore Girls,
another very popular television series from the past is coming back this November with a Netflix revival and I can
almost bet my luck that it will be as successful as the other one.
Netflix revivals have also been popular not to bring back old cancelled shows, but to save ones that have just recently
been cancelled. Arrested Development was cancelled by Fox after three very successful seasons, and picked up by
Netflix for a fourth, and it getting ready for a fifth. They also revived Trailer Park Boys, Longmire, (information I
learned from fortune.com) and I m sure those are just the ones that aren t working behind the scenes in the minds of
Netflix producers.
So what is it about Netflix that makes them so sure. Sure enough to bring back shows from many years ago, and sure
enough to bring back shows that were cancelled from big name television networks like Fox. Well, it doesn t hurt that
they have a ridiculous amount of subscribers paying ten dollars (give or take a few) every month, to watch the same

Personal Statement And Core Values
Personal Mission Statement and Core Values My personal mission is to constantly strive to be the best overall person
that I can be within my personal and professional life. My goals are to inspire and help others and myself around me
to achieve greatness and a balance that will maximize our potential that will transcend the boundaries of our dreams.
In addition to my mission statement, my core life values are the foundation of my mission statement, which allows
me to uphold my promises and standards. These promises and standards will afford me the opportunity to improve
the life of others and myself for the better. Therefore, there are four particular core values that I live by each and
every day. The four values are commitment, compassion, dedication, and optimism. The first core value,
commitment, embodies the theme of loyalty and honor. I work hard each day to live up to the promises that I make to
finish tasks, help others, and meet the expectations that I place on myself or by others. The second core value that I
live by is compassion because I wholeheartedly believe in being kind to everyone and helping those in need. The
third value that I live by is dedication. Along with the previous two values, dedication is an important factor because
being dedicated to someone or something allows a person to display that person s character of being steadfast and

Gummy Bear Hypothesis For Osmosis
Introduction:
Osmosis is a natural occurrence constantly happening within the cells of all living things. For osmosis to occur, water
molecules must move across a semipermeable membrane from an area of low concentration to an are of high
concentration. In order to understand osmosis, people must understand the different types of concentrations that can
be present within solution. One of them is an Isotonic solution where the concentration of dissolved particles is equal
to that of a cell s. Another is a hypertonic solution where there is a higher concentration of dissolved particles then
inside the cell. And lastly there is a hypotonic solution where there are less dissolved particles than inside the cell. As
dissolved particles move to a region of lower concentration, water moves the opposite direction as a result of there
being less water in the highly concentrated region. In this experiment, gummy bears were placed in salt water, sugar
water, and tap water to find the measure of osmosis between the solution and gummy bear.
Hypothesis:
If the gummy bear is added to the solution, then it will lose its coloring and expand.
Materials:
The materials used during the experiment included three plastic cups, three gummy bears, masking tape, marker,
balance, calculator, tray, one plastic spoon, a measurement tray, and a ruler. The three plastic cups were used to hold
the tap water, salt water, and sugar water. The masking tape and marker were used to label each cup with the

1. INTRODUCTION
An individual has many personal email accounts and hence he needs to remember their passwords. Remembering all
the credit card numbers is a heavy duty [6]. ELockBox can encrypt one s file containing all the ID s, passwords etc.
and store it on the server instead of storing it on the phone itself. For Encrypting and Decrypting the file AES
algorithm is used. AES algorithm can be implemented with 128, 192 and 256 bits[1]. AES algorithm is efficient to
protect classified information which is on SECRET level. For TOP SECRET 192 and 256 bit key AES is
recommended. AES algorithm is the main part in the eLockBox. The passwords required for authentication of a
person and file is stored on the server rather than in one s phone. In the authentication process, a person is required to
prove his identity using Login ID s or draw patter (CAPTCHA) or both for better security. After successfully entering
into eLockBox a person can encrypt his file and then upload it on the server. A person is required to remember the
secret key that is generated automatically while the process of encryption. This key

The Importance Of A Four Day Work
Introduction The definition of a four day work week varies depending who you are talking to. It can refer to four
eight hour days; four ten hour days; or even four twelve to fourteen hour days. However all variations of a four day
work week fall under the umbrella term alternative work arrangement. This term refers to any work schedule that
varies from the standard five, eight hour work day that the majority of the United States population is used to (Bird
1063). For the purposes of this paper I will be talking about a compressed four day work week, not a shortened four
day work week or extended four day work week, this refers to a four hour work week I will be talking about a
schedule that consists of four, ten hour days, which is still a full forty hour work week. I will be taking a close look at
the benefits and drawback to both the employer and the employee when it comes to working a four day work week.
In addition to looking at the benefits to those directly related, the employer and employee, I will also touch on some
benefits to those who are indirectly benefited; which refers to the general population. At first glance it would appear
to many people that a four day work week is not different than a standard five day work week; after all the same
number of hours are being work at weeks end. So, that begs the question why is it that only roughly 960,000
Americans, which is less than 1% of the labor force work a four day work week (Thank God it s Thursday? 74)?

Heathcliff In Emily Bronte s Romeo And Juliet
AP English IV Research Paper
Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and Romeo in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare share
similar all consuming, infatuous relationships that negatively impact their lives. Both couples are used by the authors

In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo s obsession with Juliet ultimately leads to his demise when he believes he will be

Essay about The Effects of Consumerism on Adults and Children
The Effects of Consumerism on Adults and Children
Businesses are creatively successful when designing a persuasive advertisement for increased profitability. The most
popular ways of broadcasting a product are through radio, internet, billboards, newspapers, and television being the
most effective. Many adults watch TV and they are usually the ones with the paycheck, so commercials are aimed
toward them. On the other hand, it takes less than a strategic mind targeting children because they are fascinated by
the simplest things. For years businesses have been perfecting commercials. Although marketing has had an impact
on some adults, a more efficient route was discovered. That was by publicizing through the vulnerable minds of
children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By 1890 people became information consumers who were ready for commercial radio in 1920, followed by
commercial television in the 1950 s (20 22). However, because commercial broadcasting requires advertisers money
to stay afloat, news stories were shortened to run quickly. It seems like the majority of what people watched was
advertisement television. Despite the overwhelming displays of marketing, years ago the only effect television
caused, was society trying to imitate people who appeared to be confident (24). Presently, the effects of consumerism
are to blame for the change in most of society s outlook on life.
Learning America has the highest rate of consumerism is the most profound information I heard, in August 2009

families without financial resources. This is because they have been accustomed to surviving with what they have.
They don t spend money on the better things in life or materialistic items as some do in the United States. In this

renewable resources. Chase added how, unfortunately, humans consume excessive amounts of natural resources that
are available to us; thus, gradually destroying the environment. Today the planet isn t the only thing being destroyed

THE EFFECTS OF INDUSTRIAL CAPITALISM
Adam Smith argued that Individuals who were allowed to pursue rationally their own economic self interest would
benefit society as well as themselves (Sherman Salisbury, 2008, p.187). This argument helped industrial capitalism
grow in the 19th and 20th centuries. Industrial capitalism affected the bourgeoisie and the working class. Although
the bourgeoisie gained money and power, the working class suffered through poor working conditions.
The bourgeoisie, also known as the middle class, gained money and power as the industrial capitalism got stronger.
They consisted of merchants, tradesmen, and professionals. In the middle class, the men worked outside the home to

In addition, the children obtained a mere fraction of that pay. Therefore, factories employed women and children
more often than men. The owners even created contracts with orphanages to hire cheap child laborers to save money
(Sherman Salisbury, 2008, p. 277).
In the 19th century, industrial capitalism began to gain more power in the form of monopolies. Rockefeller s
Standard Oil Trust was one of these monopolies. His company destroyed smaller and weaker oil companies to
become a larger corporation.
On May 15, 1911, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that the Standard Oil Cartel was a menace to the
Republic and ordered it to be broken up:
For the safety of the Republic we (U.S. Supreme Court) now decree that the dangerous conspiracy must be ended by
Nov. 15, 1911 (John D. A Portrait in Oils, p. 154).
Rockefeller vowed revenge against the U.S. and used his vast fortune to BUY the U.S. government.
The breakup of the Standard Oil monolith resulted in about 37 new companies. Rockefeller still secretly controlled
them all by owning a voting majority of stock in the new corporation. Thus Standard Oil would be known as
Standard Oil New Jersey (Exxon), Standard Oil New York (Mobil), Standard Oil Indiana (Amoco), Standard Oil
California (Chevron), Atlantic Refining (Arco) etc., etc.
Labor unions started to form in the late 18th century; though it was during the 20th century that they began to grow.

All scenes would then take place in that abandoned place chosen by the film. At the end of the film, monsters were

Irony In Mark Twain s The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn

(before common era), comedy was utilized to make fun of politicians, philosophers, and artists(). Today, the

innocent people, including Miss Watson s slave, Jim. Huck s father returns and demands money from him. Huck tells
him that he s too late and his father makes him live with him by a lake. Huck cannot turn to this lifestyle, resulting in
his faking his death. He moves to an island where he encounters Jim; they decide to team up. The story follows them
along their adventure. Miss Watson s character shows comedic irony through her practices. She teaches Finn about
religious matters and what he should do to get to heaven. The irony is that she own slaves, a practice not accepted in
the bible (Twain 14). The Grangerfords and Shepherdsons humorously brought guns to church and they ...kept them

  • 2. Pasadena City College Internship Report During my past three years at Pasadena City College I was able to explore courses and narrow my interests in a way that may not have been possible at an expensive university. While I have always had an interest in the technical and scientific disciplines, out of high school I was unfocused. I wanted to be a part of something that impacted my community in a positive manner. When first looking into careers I never considered a technical based career, mainly due to family career history. However, as I began to excel in math and MESA organizers got more involved in my success I realized there was a space for my interest in STEM. Throughout my academic endeavor I have earned a spot in two very diverse internships. My first internship was with LADOT. It focused on my individual skills and how to apply them to singular tasks. I was primarily involved in GIS mapping and worked alongside traffic and computer engineers. Though this was an informative and rigorous internship I found my true inspiration in my engineering professor at Pasadena City College. Dr. Arzoumanian is a successful civil engineer with practice in the private sector. After discussing with her the positive experiences that she has had I knew that I wanted to lead a similar career ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The internship took a different perspective, it was a collaborative effort that brought people of various disciplines together to accomplish a greater task. I worked with a collaborative of students with majors ranging from film and geography to computer science and mechanical engineers. To be working with a group of intelligent and civil minded people made the process more productive. • 3. Robert Frost Fact Sheet Frost ran through the forest at full speed. All he could see were blurs of green and brown trees. He knew his only chance at survival was to outrun the pack, but that was not an easy task. As Frost ran he recalled how he ended up here, he had been invited to a pack hunt. This was both very unusual and an honor, the reason being that Frost is an omega in his pack. The pack had successfully hunted down three large bucks. As an omega Frost was given a low ranking job, his job along with the other omega s was to take the food home. After that they would have a feast, Frost being ranked omega would eat last along with the other omegas. That is where Frost made his mistake, Frost had dishonored the Alpha therefore the whole pack. Now the hunting party that had been assembled yesterday was hunting him, including his fellow omega friends. He knew the Alpha must had threatened their families, otherwise they would never hunt him. Frost tries to keep running, but his legs won t work correctly. Out of the corner of his eye he sees a tawny ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frost backed up then sprang into the air, then over the river. He hoped that Rain would be able to jump the wide river. Frost brought up another burst of speed but stopped before he went anywhere. Rain had jumped across the river and now she stood beside Frost. About time you caught up. Frost joked. Oh, please I can outrun you any day. Rain laughed. We should go, your brother is probably on our tails. Frost murmured as he started ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 2004, one of Enmark s players on the youth soccer team she coaches, a seven year old boy, had injured his head while playing soccer indoors. His father, being a former soccer player, went up to the boy and instead of helping him, the father reprimanded the poor boy. A week later, after practice the boy s mother did the same and according to Enmark, the boy ended up in tears. Children and adolescents must not play competitive sports to reduce the pressure being put on them and to save many from being injured. The boy s father is not alone since many other parents dream of their child to become the next famous sports player. Although, some parents let those dreams get the best of them and eventually they start pushing their children to win. I have been working diligently towards searching and applying for a myriad of scholarships and financial aid in order to constitute a virtual seatbelt that will protect me throughout my college career. The act did not enfranchise the working classes and the attitude of the Whig government in power offered little hope to the working classes of them achieving the right to vote, this split the working class and set the working class against the government. Hostility between the working classes and the government intensified further with the implementation of the poor law in 1832. The aim of the poor law was to reduce the burden of costs to the ratepayers, remove inefficiency and end the giving of relief to those in their own homes and insist that they enter the workhouse if in need of help or support. This new act led to fear and suspicion as the workingman was being punished by the upper class as well as a distinction between the `deserving and `undeserving poor. They saw this as being punished for being poor. The Poor Law Amendment act Passed Stated That: No able bodied person was to receive money or other help from the Poor Law authorities except in a workhouse; Conditions in workhouses were to be made very harsh to discourage people from wanting to receive help; Workhouses were to be built in every parish or, if parishes were too small, in unions of parishes; Ratepayers in each parish or union had to elect a Board of Guardians to supervise the workhouse, to collect the Poor Rate and to send reports to the Central ... • 10. The End Of The Second World War Essay After the end of the Second World War Canada was not a major power but enjoyed international recognition and influence on international issues. Due to this position, it was classified as a middle power whose influence could be leveraged in solving international disputes (Paris, 1997). The approach adopted by the country was that of liberal internationalism which promotes the use of multilateralism, diplomacy and peaceful methods in solving conflicts. Its traditional values in foreign policy are neutrality and mediation. The country has also been instrumental in peacekeeping missions and committed to multilateral organizations (Potter, 1996). However, since the establishment of the Harper regime, there has been a considerable change in the country s foreign policy. These changes include a more active participation in the war against terror, its alignment with the western ideologies especially regarding the Middle East and its reduced involvement in multilateralism (Boucher, 2009). A middle power in international relations is a sovereign state that is neither a superpower nor a great power but nevertheless enjoys international recognition and has influence on international issues. The concept of middle powers arises from the division of the world into classes according to their military and economic capabilities. I find his persuasiveness to be imprecise with no correlation between binge drinking and loneliness. For instance, his claims are supported based on personal experiences and personal observations such as students having difficulty making a new group of friends, being desperate to belong and creating an academic background. Unlike Weschler, Bruffee does not use scientific studies, real examples and realistic solutions to adequately connect binge drinkers and introverts; therefore, Bruffee is less successful because he failed to support many of his claims, and his conclusion is incomplete. First of all, there is some credibility in his article trying to capture the reader interest in why binge drinking is an issue on college campuses, in which he provides statistic reports with cause and effect. However, credibility gets lost when he uses himself as an example of why students join fraternities. Bruffee says that one of the reasons he joined was because he felt desperate to belong. In addition, Bruffee also implies that Fitting in motivates freshmen students to join fraternities and sororities which leads them to binge drinking. Khn s Reflections On My Critics 3.1 Kuhn s Reflections on his Critics In his paper Reflections on my Critics Kuhn defended his view of science against the criticisms raised at London Colloquium. He observed that the criticisms were mainly focused on four points: methodology, normal science, paradigm change, and the nature of paradigms. Kuhn believed that most of his critics misunderstood his description of scientific development, and hence he sought to clarify his position further. Kuhn noted that his critics claimed that his method is historical, descriptive, and relies on social psychology, whereas their own method is logical and normative. He defended his position by affirming that both of his view and his critics rely on historical case studies and observations on scientific behaviour. The only difference is that he, contrary to his critics, began as an historian of science to construct a theory of scientific knowledge. This is also seen in T.G.G as Pammy, Daisy s daughter is only seen once during the entire 1920 s novel and we realise that she, like Bertie, had nannies who took care off her rather than her parents. Value drivers: quality/reliability; large product mix including frontier products; customization; HR Policies; and employees. Cost drivers: economies of scale; learning and experience curve; product design; and single production Site. Learning and experience Curve: Between 1983 and 1985, Samsung allocated more than $100 million in into DRAM technology, even paying another firm to teach them how to produce 64k DRAMs. As the market grew, firms tried to catch up to where Samsung already had a foothold. To further make advancements efficiently, Samsung has had separate R amp;D groups compete within their company to come up with the same solution. Product Design: The chairman chose a stacking design that proved be advantageous over companies that chose a trenching design. A core design was also used for their customized products. • 26. An Episode Of War By Stephen Crane Quincy Fargo McClellan English 9 3/12/17 Without a Name An Episode of War by Stephen Crane is a short story about a lieutenant in an unnamed war during the late 1890s being shot during an everyday routine. While it is not out of the ordinary to be shot during a war, a note sticks out: the gritty reality of war tends to glob soldiers of all ranks together to form a nameless mass which Crane emphasizes. The lieutenant has no name, the war has no name, the soldiers have no name, nothing. Everyone is a cog in the wheel and when one breaks, they are quickly replaced. The narrative is driven by the lieutenant s actions to demonstrate Crane s stylistic approach of American Realist. The American Realist movement is a focus on verisimilitude ... The grit of the war and the formation of the blob army where each person is indistinguishable from the next provides a realistic view on how wars were fought during this time period. The way Crane shows off the world he creates is an intriguing fashion; a man severely wounded walking around with a battle raging on while he is pumping full of adrenaline. • 28. Netflix Argumentative Essay It is no secret that pretty much everyone has a Netflix account, and everyone is always binge watching a new show. So when it was decided that our favorite shows from the past were going to come back on Netflix, account holders went wild and those who didn t have an account made sure they got one beforehand. Take for example Fuller House: Full House was a family favorite from when it first aired, to when the younger generation watched it at night before they went to bed. So, they decided it was a good idea to bring it back on Netflix for what the creators thought was only going to be a chunk of episodes. For example Gilmore Girls, another very popular television series from the past is coming back this November with a Netflix revival and I can almost bet my luck that it will be as successful as the other one. Netflix revivals have also been popular not to bring back old cancelled shows, but to save ones that have just recently been cancelled. Arrested Development was cancelled by Fox after three very successful seasons, and picked up by Netflix for a fourth, and it getting ready for a fifth. They also revived Trailer Park Boys, Longmire, (information I learned from fortune.com) and I m sure those are just the ones that aren t working behind the scenes in the minds of Netflix producers. So what is it about Netflix that makes them so sure. Sure enough to bring back shows from many years ago, and sure enough to bring back shows that were cancelled from big name television networks like Fox. • 30. Gummy Bear Hypothesis For Osmosis Introduction: Osmosis is a natural occurrence constantly happening within the cells of all living things. For osmosis to occur, water molecules must move across a semipermeable membrane from an area of low concentration to an are of high concentration. In order to understand osmosis, people must understand the different types of concentrations that can be present within solution. One of them is an Isotonic solution where the concentration of dissolved particles is equal to that of a cell s. Another is a hypertonic solution where there is a higher concentration of dissolved particles then inside the cell. And lastly there is a hypotonic solution where there are less dissolved particles than inside the cell. As dissolved particles move to a region of lower concentration, water moves the opposite direction as a result of there being less water in the highly concentrated region. In this experiment, gummy bears were placed in salt water, sugar water, and tap water to find the measure of osmosis between the solution and gummy bear. Hypothesis: If the gummy bear is added to the solution, then it will lose its coloring and expand. Materials: The materials used during the experiment included three plastic cups, three gummy bears, masking tape, marker, balance, calculator, tray, one plastic spoon, a measurement tray, and a ruler. It can refer to four eight hour days; four ten hour days; or even four twelve to fourteen hour days. However all variations of a four day work week fall under the umbrella term alternative work arrangement. This term refers to any work schedule that varies from the standard five, eight hour work day that the majority of the United States population is used to (Bird 1063). For the purposes of this paper I will be talking about a compressed four day work week, not a shortened four day work week or extended four day work week, this refers to a four hour work week I will be talking about a schedule that consists of four, ten hour days, which is still a full forty hour work week. I will be taking a close look at the benefits and drawback to both the employer and the employee when it comes to working a four day work week. In addition to looking at the benefits to those directly related, the employer and employee, I will also touch on some benefits to those who are indirectly benefited; which refers to the general population. At first glance it would appear to many people that a four day work week is not different than a standard five day work week; after all the same number of hours are being work at weeks end. So, that begs the question why is it that only roughly 960,000 Americans, which is less than 1% of the labor force work a four day work week (Thank God it s Thursday? 74)? ...
