BI 201
March 22,2017 Viral Manipulation of Cell Death (Zakeri s Cell Death Lab) The cells of a
multicellular organism are members of a highly organized community. The number of cells in this
community is regulated, not by controlling the rate of cell division, but also by controlling the rate of
cell death. If cells are no longer needed, they commit suicide by activating an intracellular death
program. This process is therefore called programmed cell death, although it is more commonly called
apoptosis. Cell death plays a role in development and the process is called, morphogenesis, the
biological process that causes an organism to develop its shape. It also plays a role in the maintenance

Mechanisms of dengue virus induces cell death by taking control of the machinery of the cell. It is
evident that dengue (DEN) viruses can trigger the host cell to undergo apoptosis in a cell dependent
manner. Virally induced apoptosis contributes directly to the cytopathogenic effects of DEN virus in
cultured cells. The induction of apoptosis involves the activation of intracellular signaling systems.
The cellular factors that regulate cell death can adjust the outcome of DEN virus infection in cultured
cells. Apoptosis inhibitors delay DEN virus induced apoptosis, thereby providing a suitable
environment for the virus. During DEN virus infection, cell death is also regulated by the harshness of
the infecting strains. Overall, the purpose this research provides information on the cellular
mechanisms and viral proteins associated with apoptosis in response to DEN

Modern City Ideal
Introduction The Modern City was shaped by industry, technologies and transportation (Barth, 1980).
The Modern City ideal was designed to grow and adjust to technological changes and the services that
were being provided. With the economic, social, political and technological trends changing rapidly
within the late twentieth century, the modern city was not prepared to handle all the major changes
that were in store. The Modern City ideal had started to unravel because of the many issues the
surrounded the economic structure as well as the way the city had developed. There were many
important things learned during this time period that helped to develop the city to what it is today.
Looking at how the Modern City became unraveled as well as the impact and consequences it has on
our cities today it is easier to see how the Modern City ideal is relevant in cities today. The Modern
City ideal is very important to examine due to the impact that it has had on the way cities have
developed and are functioning now. The unraveling of the Modern City ideal leaves many people
wondering how the city will be affected based on changes that are to come with regards to technology,
economical, social and political aspects within society. With so many changes that are eminent within
society people will be interested in watching the way that cities in the past were developed compared
to how our cities will continue to develop in the future.

How Does Marjane Satrapi Use Feminism In Persepolis
Persepolis
In this essay, I will be writing about the concept toward feminism that is indicated in the book
Persepolis. The book is written by Marjane Satrapi who sees herself as a humanist not as a feminist,
but there is a lot of strong support from her towards women in general which is expressed in
Persepolis which is also a very personal book of hers that shows how her life was from a very young
age till a certain age. To define a little bit of Feminism or someone who is a feminist, is the belief that
women in general are equal and deserve to be equal in everyday s society just like men. And it s a
belief that Marjane Satrapi appears to support and argue about in her graphic novel in many ways. For
instance, Marji as how she is called in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

is very difficult to handle it and stay against it if half of the population is illiterate which Marji s uncle

he is a great inspiration for Marji. Going back to the year when it became obligatory to wear the veil
in Iran, people or mostly women thought it would be easier to follow the orders and laws that were
created by the shah because it is hard to accept any law that forces you individually to change your
lifestyle, but Marji was different, she considered to stay against it and have her own voice just as her
mother who always demonstrated in the streets. Marjane also describes through the graphic images in
her book that she couldn t be herself outside her home and if she was herself she would always get

Biography Of Jacqueline Bacon, African American Writer,...
Jacqueline Bacon, African American writer, quoted Samuel Cornish and John Russwurm in her essay
Freedom s Journal, The First African American Newspaper: We wish to plead our own cause. Too long
have others spoken for us (Brown 13). This quote gave slaves a sense of empowerment to stand up for
themselves and no longer be property, but people. The Freedom Journal is the first African American
newspaper that was published in March 16, 1827 in New York City by free black men Samuel Cornish
and John Russwurm. They felt that a national newspaper will give them a chance to have freedom to
voice their opinions about public debates. Through their process of creating their newspaper they
endured many trials of deal with hatred and being criticized for their choices. Through the time of
creating the newspaper they were able to establish a black free communities. Beginning in the 1780s,
a first generation of leaders began to address issues if identity, self determination, and group
consciousness. They did so against a backdrop of racism, oppression, violence, and tension within the
new republic about slavery and the place of free African American in the nation ( Brown 14). Richard
Allen, Frederick Douglass, and Solomon Northrup are leaders for overcoming slavery, shaping
African American history, and creating a community for blacks to come together. These three
influential people pleaded their case to gain their own voice and identity.

Shadowing A Person In My Dream Job
To become an owner of an accounting firm in New York has been a dream of mine since I can
remember. Having the opportunity to shadow a person in my dream job I would have to make sure I
had been well prepared for this experience. Before starting anything I would call and double check on
the time in which I needed to arrive along with the date when it would be taking place. Starting on the
preparations I would research the company and inform myself on the important facts. I would follow
up with the assistant as well as make a list of questions I would like to ask when there. I would ask
about the kind of clothing that should be worn during the time I would be shadowing as well as any
other requirements they might need from me that day. Once

Pros And Cons Of Plastic Surgery Essay
Plastic surgery is a medical specialty concerned with the correction or restoration of form and function
of a body part. There are a lot of arguments concerning plastic surgery. Some people even argued that
it should be banned. However, the fact that plastic surgery is still legally practiced globally points out
that the advantages significantly outweigh the disadvantages. Plastic surgery should not be banned due
to the following reasons. Firstly, plastic surgery is needed for medical purposes. Secondly, every
human has the rights to choose what they want to do, as long as it is not against the law. Thirdly,
plastic surgery often leads to success. There is often a misconception that plastic surgeries are only

Now here comes the question: where is the line drawn between the methods above to change our
physical appearances? Why is it okay for us to get change our physical appearances by getting tattoos
and dyeing our hair but it is against the law of nature to undergo plastic surgery? Just because dyeing
your hair costs less and plastic surgery involves a plastic surgeon doesn t mean that plastic surgery is
unethical and inhumane. Therefore, there is nothing wrong with people who choose to undergo plastic
surgery to change their physical appearances. Plastic surgery often leads to one s success. [3]A good
example would be the South Korean booming k pop celebrities who are known for their flawless faces
and bodies. The recent success they achieved was due to plastic surgeries they undertook to change
into a completely different person with increased self confidence and self esteem in performing. In the
world we live today, success is often determined by our looks. If that is the case and plastic surgery is
a shortcut to success, who wouldn t take the opportunity? [4]The highly publicized death due to
complications in plastic surgery of mother of hip hop star Kanye West, Donda West, have made people
to think twice before undergoing any plastic surgery. This was a shock therapy to the world,
underlining that plastic surgeries may cause deaths. Some people say that having a plastic surgery is

Barriers Of Oligopoly
2. Economic Theory
2.1 Oligopoly
Oligopoly is a market structure in which a few firms dominate the market (Jocelyn Blink Ian Dorton,
2012). The market may have a large number of firms or just a few, but the important idea is that the
industry s output is shared by a small number of firms. It is possible for oligopolistic industries to
differ, in the sense that some industries would produce the same kind of products, where the product is
practically the same and only the companies name is different. On the other hand, there are also
industries that produce completely different product and also ones that produce products that are only
a bit different from each other, but these firms do tend to spend most of their budgets to advertise their
products (Jocelyn Blink Ian Dorton, 2012). There are a few main characterises of firms that operate as
oligopolies these include:
1. Interdependence
2. Strategy
3. Barriers to entry o Natural barriers o Artificial barriers
When economists determine the competitiveness of market they usually look at the assumptions of the
different market structures. The same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These obstacles are known as barriers to entry. There are generally two types of barriers to entry that
exist, these are natural and artificial. Natural barriers can be exploited by the major firms and the
artificial barriers can be used belligerently to stop other firms from joining the market.
Natural Barriers to Entry:
Economies to Scale
Larger firms tend to have lower cost compared to smaller firms, due to the fact that they are able to
gain from economies of scale, but it is possible for larger firms to experience diseconomies of scale.
As firms increase their production scale they tend to lower their production cost and move to the long
run, this can be represented using the diagram

Summary Of Are We Addicted To Technology By Zoe Kleinman
In Zoe Kleinman s BBC article Are We Addicted to Technology , she addresses the problems of
technology addiction using highly descriptive evidence. For example, when she interviews Dr.
Ramlakhan, we discover that there are many side effects from being addicted to technology.
Ramlakhan states, that people are becoming dopamine junkies which is like someone who is very
addicted to technology and hasn t left the house in five days. She also suggests that people are acting
like zombies. A modern day example of this would be the addiction that people have to this video
game called Pokemon Go. Although she used highly descriptive evidence, she poorly stated the proof
that she had for her claims. For example, she stated that people are only tired

Choices By Nikki Giovanni
Even though someone is unhappy with their situation could they make the best out of it? Well, Nikki
Giovanni, an African American poet, wrote the poem Choices which is speaks about how success
comes from doing things people are not satisfied with. In addition, if someone does not become the
person they want to be they can still be grateful for the things that they possess because regardless
there is still more to want. The choices that people make may not be a choice someone is expected to
have, but it s all about making the best of it. Nikki Giovanni may have not come from the best life, but
she made a living out of it by becoming a civil rights activist and a poet. The theme that Nikki
Giovanni is trying to emphasize is that happiness can come from the life people never expected, but if
one is grateful for the life they have then its self satisfying. Happiness can come from being humble
which is showing a modes or low estimate of one s importance. Furthermore, being optimistic which

I want to do then my job is to not do what I don t want to do it s not the same thing but it s the best I

The 4 H s In The Odyssey
Myths have a very important function in the story that may not be the most obvious idea. Myths
explains a code of behavior with rewards and punishments. Odyssey explains the 4 H s through the
actions and adventure of Odysseus. The 4 H s are the honor, hospitality, hubris, and heroism that
comes from greek mythology. Honor means reputation of excellence and back then in time of
Odysseus it didn t necessarily mean one was to be a good person. Hospitality is retreating a stranger
with respect and protection, and providing what they need. Hubris, the opposite of humility, refers to
extreme, ignorant pride or arrogance which is can be punished by the gods. Heroism using one s
brains as much as they use their muscle. First, throughout the story we can see Odysseus achieve
honor. However Odysseus honor is different from ours. He killed men and kidnapped women for
honor. He found his honor in Ismarus when (he), I stormed that place and killed the men who fought.

Deep into Odysseus encounter of the Polyphemus also shows heroism because of what he did to save
his men and escape the cave. He used his cunningness to save his fellow mate representing heroism,
Blinded and sick with pain from his head wound, the monster stroked each ram, then let it pass, but
my men riding on the pectoral fleece the giant s blind hands blundering never found (pg 993).
Secondly you can see Odysseus heroism through his interaction with the goddess, Athena. After he
received an image of a god using it to prove that he is actually Odysseus, Lithe and young she made
him, ruddy with sun, his jawline clean, the beard no longer gray upon his chin. Your cloak is new:
even your skin! You are one of the gods who rule the sweep of heaven! (line 1019 1027). This
represents Odysseus heroism, he uses his brain to use his new body as a disguise from his family only

you fix how the people see you but the british showed a weakness in this book and the rebels

that when they were fighting the Rebels the British just did not think that this was a real effort so they
forgot all the things that they usually did. This seems that there was no one to really blame but
themselves. When they seemed to finally understand that this was a real war it was to late for them
and the French were already joining the war against the British and it was to late for the British to kick
it into high gear. If the British understood that this was a battle and just crushed it instead of run

behind instead of trying to tactically cut off so they could win and bring the colonies back into the
empire. Though they had good generals and commanders who could win battle but they did not do
anything unless their regiments had everything they wanted but this was war and not everything is
easy. In the end it was a lack of strategy and the want for a more gentlemanly fighting style seemed to
be what made the British lose America. Though they did lose the colonies trade did start back up with

Comparing Philbrick s View Of Different Authors Contributions
Despite Philip s tremendous experience with selling land to the English, Philbrick unfairly portrays the
king as as an indecisive ruler and poor decision maker. For over a decade the Wampanoag ruler had
been the intermediary for native land sales to English proprietors. As Philbrick explains, any Pilgrim
man wishing to obtain native land was required to make the purchase through the official Plymouth
court, thereby preventing unfair sales (like alcohol for land) that the Indians could later dispute. One
would imagine that in dealing only with the officials, as opposed to the men purchasing the land,
Philip would be granted greater protection from any one of the potential abuses that he could suffer
from. But instead, Philbrick recounts how, by monopolizing the purchase of Indian lands, Plymouth
officials kept the prices they paid artificially low (171). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Philip, who had his own animal herd, would have been aware of the uncontrollable factors that were
also at play, such as the unhappiness which arose when English cows and horses grazed on Indian
corn. Even as he assumed leadership thirteen years before the war, Philip would have been in tune
with the inevitable and growing threat English settlements posed to his people. Yet instead of
attempting to appease the Indians by granting them permission to go on wild, ineffective raids, which
would have only motivated the English, Philip waited until he could gather an effective, armed, multi
tribe force before he waged war. By delaying his response and refusing to allow personal vendettas be
the spark for battle, tactful Philip is inaccurately described by

Teen Pregnancy And Its Effect On Children
My mother always said You are a princess and your body is a temple, so treat it like one . As I grew
up, that was the phrase that made a profound impact on my childhood. My parents felt that for me to
be confident and successful, I would have to be at peace emotionally and physically during the most
crucial years of my growth. They always said Do not become another one of the statistics! . In my
early teenage years I believed that they kept me sheltered, but now in my freshmen year of college, I
could not be more thankful for their guidance and protection. At the time I did not understand what
she meant, but after my years in high school it all made sense. I, like many other teens, would gain
knowledge on relationships and sexuality. In this country teen pregnancy has high increase in
minorities, one of the main reasons why the population is expanding. It is through proper knowledge
of sexuality and protection that female teens are able to prevent pregnancy.

Wolsey s Responsibility For His Own Downfall Essay
Wolsey s Responsibility For His Own Downfall Thomas Wolsey can be easily viewed as being
responsible for his own downfall. John Guy believes that Wolsey was brilliant but flawed. His rise was
based on luck, charm, intelligence and opportunism. Wolsey had such high ambitions and gave Henry
the idea he was capable of getting him anything, so when Wolsey failed to get Henry a divorce, it was
seen as the final nail on the coffin to his downfall. His policies are also a cause to his downfall;
Wolsey s foreign policy was a success but also caused problems. On Wolsey s rise he created enemies,
which lead to the lack of support and opposition in his years as Chancellor. But it can also be viewed,

WASN T ====== But on Wolsey s rise he made many enemies and had poor relations with nobility.
His powerful office and close friendship with Henry earned him many enemies, particularly aristocrats
who resented his usurpation of their traditional influence. They also resented his great wealth. Over
the years, Wolsey amassed a vast fortune, though he spent lavishly, but he was also charitable and
personally financed many diplomatic missionaries. Most of the gentlemen who entered the
government service was for financial reward; Wolsey was not different. As the Kings chief minister,
he was expected to entertain foreign dignitaries and maintain suitable impressive lifestyle. His
increasingly ostentatious displays of wealth did, however, damage both his personal reputation and the

Decameron And The Canterbury Tales

The Decameron and even Hamlet has some growing points. Not only was death a main factor but all
these stories are super long and some tend to be hard to follow and keep track of like Beowulf and The
Canterbury Tales, were they bounce from one story to the other. To compare these four stories to death
would not be hard, mainly because it s a prominent aspect to the stories but the reason for the deaths
are all different, in The Decameron and The Canterbury Tales there is a major death that happens in

Beowulf gets called to take care of a monster problem for his friend Hrothgar who is the King of the
Danes and his people are getting slaughtered by a monster called Grendel. Long story short, he kills
Grendel and that upset Grendel s mother, who is like a troll, so now Beowulf has to deal with Grendel
s mother, which he does. After slaying the monsters, receiving gold, land from his own king, King of
the Geats, Beowulf doesn t die for many years until he has to go kill a dragon, which he dies from the
poison from the dragon not from the loss of blood. All of this is relevant because being the one to
bring death make Beowulf a hero and a king, he doesn t just grow but flourishes. He has already done
all the growing up needed to conquer all the problems he may encounter; he probably would have
survived the dragon bite if it was not for the poison. Death comes to Beowulf like it does to everyone
but that doesn t stop his story because someone wrote it down.
To finish this semester with these four stories, which where all centered around death and all had two
main common factors, death was either praised or mourned. Which is death is seen as a bad thing but
it is comes to the best and worst of us. Death tells a lot about the person who died, who it affected and

The discovery of Kusado Sengen in 1928, a long forgotten medieval Japanese town that once used to

Psychoanalysis Vs. Humanism
The different psychological schools of thought reflect ideas and emotions of each time period in which
they developed, and yet it can be said that they still have relevant value today. Each approach to
psychology the biological, the humanistic, the cognitive, the behavioural and the psychoanalytical all
have relevance in today s society in their own ways, as well as having distinguishing features yet
similar aspects to their teachings. As an example of this, when we first look between psychoanalysis
and humanism, we can name the basic and drastic differences between these theories. For starters, the
time frame between the development of each spans around fifty years, with Freud growing his idea of
psychoanalysis in the 1890 s, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This hierarchy of needs is often portrayed in a pyramid form and consists of five different needs. The
four lowest of these needs the physiological, the security needs, the social needs and the esteem needs
are known as deficiency needs which humanists believe need to be satisfied in order for the individual
to live happily and move forward. The negative version of these needs is low self esteem and
inferiority complexes (Boeree, 1998). The next level of needs, the growth needs, differ as these are
more concerned with your own personal desire to grow as a person, and not necessarily stages you
must go through in order to be happy and well adjusted. These self realisation/ self actualising needs
sit at the top of the pyramid. Indeed, the humanistic view in general is based around the idea that each
individual controls and must take responsibility for their own happiness and mental health. Maslow s
hierarchy of needs theory has the similar principle of Freud s theory of development as they are both
concerned with life stages ,as well as being based on the belief that an individual can t skip any such
stages. Along with these personal growth and developmental needs, humanists and psychoanalysts are
also both highly interested in personality types, and how our personas function consciously as well as
unconsciously. Humanists such as Carl Rogers theorised that an individual s

How many of you, when you go to a restaurant and the waiter/waitress asks you what you want to

How many you would select a glass of water out a fridge filled with soda, fruit juices, or beer?
My guess is probably not very many you actually choose water over the other options.
I used to be the same way.
I used to never drink water, and would always choose another beverage if I had the option.
However, after I began to hear about the importance of water in our lives, I began to choose water
whenever I needed something to drink.
I am not saying I never have anything other than water when I am thirsty, but the majority of the time

So water is needed to dissolve these nutrients and be carried throughout the body.
As you can see, water plays a major role in many factors of your body.
Water even can help produce benefits outside of your body as well, such as your wallet.
For example, when you go to a restaurant and order a soda, that is usually at least $2.
You could instead choose water, which is free.
If you would also choose water when you go out to eat and save the $2, you would save a decent
amount of money in a year.
Also, a 24 pack of bottled water is much cheaper than even a 12 pack of soda.
Therefore, buying a pack of bottled water would save you money as well.
Another way that you could save money is by investing in a filter of some sort, and drinking water
from the facet.
This would definitely decrease your spending on beverages during the year and save you a lot of
money.
As you can see, there are many benefits to drinking water.
I hope you know see how crucial water is to your body and why you should consume it on a regular
basis.
You can only survive several days without water, so make sure you drink up.
And by drinking water to ensure you stay living well, you will have some extra money to spend on
things in your life that you can enjoy.

Ophelia, By William Shakespeare
Depression is an uncontrollable disease of the mind, which can result from devastating events or
hardships that one experiences. If left unnoticed, the individual can fall into a detrimental state, and
may even be compelled to take their own life, as a result of their misery and hopelessness. In the play,
Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, one of the characters, Ophelia, suffers from this disease which sadly
goes unrecognized throughout the story. Her symptoms and actions hold a similarity to what someone
in present time would display with this mental illness. Shakespeare depicts the symptoms and
resulting consequences of depression through the character Ophelia, by drawing attention to how

he, her father, look stupid by returning Hamlet s advances upon her. With no instruction from a female
role model in her life, she is left to her emotions and the contradicting instructions from her father and
brother.

Analysis Of The Poem Hay Fever
Hay Fever Response
Hay Fever was a comical play with a strong message. The actors throughout this play steadily used
others to gain their own attention. The message this play left behind after many laughs was do not use
others, plain and simple.
The space was a well constructed thrust stage however, the stage was not raised off the ground and the
seats appeared to be mobile which lead to the belief that this is an Environmental Theater. As for the
layout of the stage, there was a couch and a table in center stage for the first two acts, a door to the
unseen outside front of the house upstage right, there were two large double doors upstage center
leading to the backyard garden, and a raised floor upstage left containing a piano, a bookcase ... Show

All of the family members acted genuine. There was one actor who stood out as a perfect fit for his
character. Taylor Rascher played Simon Bliss and played him perfectly. Rascher s character Simon
was a young man who was dramatic and romantic so much so it was almost to the point of
ridiculousness. Rascher stole the show in the first act when he was romancing with Michelle Luz, who
plays Myra Arundel. Rascher was displaying his love for Michelle Luz (Myra) in the most dramatic of
fashions; he was playing the Bliss game of pretending to be in complete love with someone and then a
moment later change his mind. Rascher was proclaiming his love with elegant speeches and coddling
up next to her and eventually kissing her. Rascher made this scene particularly hilarious because he
was completely over the top in typical Bliss fashion. Of course, all of this was for naught because Luz
ended up kissing Joe Hubbard s character David Bliss in act two and also Rascher proclaimed his
engagement to Caitlin Stagemoller s character, Jackie Coryton. Rascher made his voice more shrill
and audible to appear to be more dramatic and create more attention for himself. In the same way,
Rascher used grander gestures with his arms (flailing, waving, etc.) to cause a more dramatic effect.
The play was well interpreted by all whom were involved. Steven Wrentmore, the Director, kept the

Ladislas Rice
1969 1975
1) When Rice took over as CEO at Burtons in 1969, the men s clothing industry was beginning to
have a higher demand. Due to the Beatle s era during the 60 s, men became more fashion conscience.
Up in till Rice was appointed, Burton s menswear specialised in made to measure suits but young
males were buying more ready to wear clothes. Competition was becoming stronger, coming from
Italian designers, which offered ready to wear suits and more colourful casual clothes. Not only were
these garments ready to wear but also they were less expensive to buy. This was becoming a serious

expand in France, as the market for made to measure clothes still had a high demand. This was also
bought to add volume to the Burtons factory, as it wasn t manufacturing to its full capacity due to the
slump in demand in Britain. Another acquisition was Evans Outside, which had 76 shops and
computerised stock control systems, which could help Burtons menswear deal with larger stocks with
increased productivity due to the move into ready to wear clothes. Also with the takeover the retail
skills of Cyril Spencer were acquired. Further acquisitions included Ryman Conram and Green s.
Ryman Conram sold stationary and had 75 retail outlets with four manufacturing units. Greens, then at
the beginning of its growth in the consumer market, were electrical goods retailer. In 1972, a separate

Imagery In Willa Cather s My Antonia
Through the detailed use of language, such as imagery of the Nebraskan plains and symbolism of
Antonia, Willa Cather reveals that My Antonia explores the values of the classic pioneer, such as self
dependence, perseverance, and the refusal to submit to unforgiving hardship, thus illuminating the age
of pioneering as a timeless inspiration for everyone. The American west. A land filled with misery and
struggle. A land that pushes one to their limit. A land that test the boundaries of one s strength and

A woman filled with astounding love. A woman dragged in adversity her entire life, yet still rooted
perseverance. A woman of steel, seemingly superhuman, with a heart of compassion. A woman that
could be battered, but never broken. Throughout the novel, Cather uses Antonia as the symbol of
resiliency, a resiliency that could only be found by living the true American Dream, pioneering. By
describing her never ending strength and her undying love, Cather symbolizes Antonia as the strength
of a true pioneer. In the passage Cather describe these emotions when she states, I had not been
mistaken. She was a battered woman now, not a lovely girl; but she still had that something which
fires the imagination, could still stop one s breath for a moment by a look or gesture that somehow
revealed the meaning in common things...All the strong things of her heart came out in her body, that
had been so tireless in serving generous emotions (Cather 207). Using her passage, Cather describes
Antonia as a weathered old lady, who has been toughened by the land. Yet, through this withered
appearance, Antonia s imaginative inner quality still shines through. Through Antonia, Cather draws a
picture of an enduring source of compassion and warmth, often providing strength to other characters,
such as Jim. Through Antonia, Cather conveys to her audience that the true strength of the pioneer
comes from within. She elucidates Antonia s character to illustrate the pioneer s ability to survive

Likewise, Dracula morphs into a wolf when he flees the Dr. Seward s home after Van Helsing exposes
him. Dracula s command over nature and animals is not as obvious as some of his other traits, but is
still worth noting. The viewer can infer that the Count had a role in conjuring up the storm that
eventually caused the vessel he and Renfield were traveling to England on to wreck. In another part of
the film, Dracula parts a lawn outside of the Dr. Seward s Sanatorium and commands all of the rats
within it to stop so that Renfield can see the immense rewards he will reap if he continues to obey the

Danielle Savoie, recently appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Cirque du Soleil, was
delighted. She had just met with the firm s Executive Committee to present the very first information
technology (IT) strategic plan in the history of Cirque. The plan presented a coherent and organized
vision of IT use at Cirque. The Executive Committee had reacted very positively to her
recommendations, although the members of the committee were not accustomed to discussing issues

Audiences and critics alike were immediately conquered. Success was instantaneous. Cirque du
Soleil succeeded in redefining the circus experience for the audience by capturing the imagination of
the public. The show was presented in 10 cities in Quebec. In 1984, 73 people worked for Cirque du
Soleil. This first show established the foundations and the concept. During the years that followed,
Cirque grew very quickly. By 2000, Cirque du Soleil had evolved from its modest beginnings to
become a complex organization with operations in several cities and shows on the road around the
world. In 2000, Cirque du Soleil had three permanent or resident shows: Mystère, which had been
presented at Treasure Island in Las Vegas since 1993, Ô, presented at the Bellagio in Las Vegas since
October 1998, and La Nouba, presented at the Walt
Disney World Resort since December 1998. At the time, Cirque also had five touring shows, which
moved every two months.

Crime Scene Investigation Report
The crime scene is a delicate place that must be respected if a true picture is to be recognized in the
investigative process. Approaching a crime scene requires the forensic specialist, or anyone directly
involved with the incident, a sharp mental attitude and knowledge of the law. The purpose of this
essay is to examine the processes involved with a crime scene investigation. This will include a
discussion about collecting evidence and will use the given scenario to highlight a practical example
of how a crime scene should be approached and managed in order to receive the best and most honest
results that the justice system may allow.
Scenario i .A dead body(male) ii. Two tables in a living room flipped sideways iii. A bottle of Gordon
s London Dry Gin iv. Two cups(Red) v. A desk Table vii. Two chairs one flipped outside down and the
other standing viii. A prescription drug ix. A small plastic bag filled with cocaine x. A living
room(small) xi. A bottle of George Killings Irish Red xii. A coffee flask Xiii. A bullet lying on the
floor of the living room xiv .Blood on the carpet of the living room xv. Bullet holes on the wall of the
living room xvi .Blood on the wall xvii. plasters on the wall
Analysis This crime must be approached with caution and an open mind. The investigator must use all
of his or her resources available in order to make solid judgments that will ultimately lead to an
explanation. The presence of a dead body suggests that this crime scene is a

UBI To Combat Economic Inequality
The dominant in group of men have subjected women to a minority out group. This separation has
caused unequal treatment, double standards, and stereotypes, which all help keep women in a state of
economic inequality. In order for women to experience equality, men most lose some of their power
and share it with women. Although, many men would love women to have more economic freedom,
they do not want it to come at the cost of their power. Therefore, inter group conflict occurs. Another
in group and intergroup dynamic, which is taking place, is between the rich and the poor. A Pew
Research Center survey of 2,048 adults finds that about two thirds of the public (66%) believes there

support from the residents of Alaska and any politician who suggest a change in policy would most
likely not recover from the backlash of such a suggestion (Widerquist, Howard, 2012). Considering its

Partition as Madness
If I be allowed to quote from the movie,
The land is divided, lives are shattered
Storms rage in every heart; it s the same here and there...
Funeral pyres in every home; the flames mount higher
Every city is deserted; it s the same here and there..
No one heeds the Gita; no one heeds the Koran
Faith has lost all meaning; here or there....
The partition of India and its subsequent independence is the most barbaric incident in the history of
India. Millions of people were forced to leave their homes and many were butchered in the worst
possible ways. There was an unorganised and unplanned brutality. The unbelievable part was how
could our sense of moral righteousness be handicapped by the actions of a few. How could it be that
the same people who had driven the Britishers out of their country could in turn start killing each
other. The communal politics reached every nook and cranny in India polluting whole of the country
with the advertisement of a freedom of a very unique kind than that imagined by many people of
India. The theory of the partition was initially opposed by most of the Indian people. For many people,
the riots that took place during partition was completely beyond their wildest imagination. The idea
was arbitrary, illogical, gruesome, unreasonable and mad and lead to immense confusion. Today,
perhaps, it has become an accepted reality. The Maulvi Saheb in the story of Toba Tek SIngh says that

Physical Therapy Vs Houston Northwest Medical Center Case...
1960 Family Practice vs. Houston Northwest Medical Center First of all, according to introduction to
physical therapy, Physical therapy is a health profession whose primary purpose is the promotion of
optimal health and function. Physical therapy is a form of rehabilitation that physical therapists use to
help patients recover from an injury or a physical disability. Many people think that the process of the
Physical Therapy is the same in everywhere where a Physical Therapist performed his job. However,
that s not true because a physical therapy depends of many characteristics such as, the disability or the
type of the injury of the patient. In fact, to know more about the topic I visited two facilities, which are
an outpatient clinic and a hospital to compare and contrast how the PT performed the Physical therapy
in each facility.

This hospital was enormous compared with the clinic. However, I didn t have opportunity to look to
the equipment because I just wanted to see how a physical therapist perform his job with patients. In
the hospital there was a patient recovering from a stroke. The patient could not move half of his body
specially his hand. This case gain all my attention because my mother had a stroke time before. The
therapist was so nice because she tried to communicate in the best way with the patient. The patient
speaks Spanish, and the therapist was an American lady but she could said a lot of words in Spanish.
She help her patient by helping him to strengthen and stretch his hand. The family of the patient were
there also. So the therapist told one of the family members that the patient needed to continue doing
some exercises to improve the mobility of his hand. For example, weight bearing exercises because
these exercises can help facilitate movement. Weight bearing can be done on the hand while sitting at
the edge of the bed or it can be done with the hand on a

Child Labor And Sweatshops
If anyone was asked if they support child labour or sweatshops, they would most likely say no, but can
people say with certainty that the clothes they are wearing have not been made in a sweatshop? A
sweatshop is a manufacturing facility where workers endure poor working conditions, long hours, low
wages and other violations of labor rights. Companies are profiting off developing countries need to
work but customers can reverse this by being mindful of how often and what they are buying. The
sweatshop has come to symbolize the greed of the clothing industry. (Smestad, 2009). Although some
clothes are inexpensive on the price tag, the real expense is the people making the clothes. Ethical
clothing is the answer to prevent sweatshops, while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Companies try and pass it down the supply chain to until it reaches those who cannot pass it down any
more. The people making these clothes are the most vulnerable, those who have no voice, there are
garment factory workers in Bangladesh, China, Cambodia, cotton farmers in India and the child slaves
working in cotton farms in Uzbekistan. Some sweatshop workers speak out on their experience. A
young woman named Aracerly talks about her experience working in a sweatshop. She works on her
feet for more than 12 hours a day getting payed 80 dollars weekly. Her palms are calloused and has
burn marks that were not treated properly in the sewing shops. She is exposed to poisonous elements
and using unsafe equipment without suitable protection. Most people working in sweat shops are
forced to work in the farms and factories that produce the imputes for our clothing in the industry.
Their wages are so low that they are unable to lift themselves or their families out of poverty, and the
cycle continues.
Apart from lowering wages, firms also try to offset their loss by asking suppliers to cut their whole
sale prices. Suppliers say that because their desperate for business they either cut their prices or loose
out on business (Scharwath, 2015). Suppliers try then to offset their losses by cutting back on
maintaining a safe work environment which can lead to tragedies, such as the Rana Plaza collapse in
2013 where 1137

Viral Manipulation Of Cell Death Lab Geraldson D Haiti Doctor Susan McLaughlin BI 201 March 22,2017 Viral Manipulation of Cell Death (Zakeri s Cell Death Lab) The cells of a multicellular organism are members of a highly organized community. The number of cells in this community is regulated, not by controlling the rate of cell division, but also by controlling the rate of cell death. If cells are no longer needed, they commit suicide by activating an intracellular death program. This process is therefore called programmed cell death, although it is more commonly called apoptosis. Cell death plays a role in development and the process is called, morphogenesis, the biological process that causes an organism to develop its shape. It also plays a role in the maintenance ... The cellular factors that regulate cell death can adjust the outcome of DEN virus infection in cultured cells. Apoptosis inhibitors delay DEN virus induced apoptosis, thereby providing a suitable environment for the virus. • 3. Modern City Ideal Introduction The Modern City was shaped by industry, technologies and transportation (Barth, 1980). The Modern City ideal was designed to grow and adjust to technological changes and the services that were being provided. With the economic, social, political and technological trends changing rapidly within the late twentieth century, the modern city was not prepared to handle all the major changes that were in store. The Modern City ideal had started to unravel because of the many issues the surrounded the economic structure as well as the way the city had developed. There were many important things learned during this time period that helped to develop the city to what it is today. Looking at how the Modern City became unraveled as well as the impact and consequences it has on our cities today it is easier to see how the Modern City ideal is relevant in cities today. The Modern City ideal is very important to examine due to the impact that it has had on the way cities have developed and are functioning now. The unraveling of the Modern City ideal leaves many people wondering how the city will be affected based on changes that are to come with regards to technology, economical, social and political aspects within society. With so many changes that are eminent within society people will be interested in watching the way that cities in the past were developed compared to how our cities will continue to develop in the future. The book is written by Marjane Satrapi who sees herself as a humanist not as a feminist, but there is a lot of strong support from her towards women in general which is expressed in Persepolis which is also a very personal book of hers that shows how her life was from a very young age till a certain age. To define a little bit of Feminism or someone who is a feminist, is the belief that women in general are equal and deserve to be equal in everyday s society just like men. Humanism The different psychological schools of thought reflect ideas and emotions of each time period in which they developed, and yet it can be said that they still have relevant value today. Each approach to psychology the biological, the humanistic, the cognitive, the behavioural and the psychoanalytical all have relevance in today s society in their own ways, as well as having distinguishing features yet similar aspects to their teachings. As an example of this, when we first look between psychoanalysis and humanism, we can name the basic and drastic differences between these theories. The negative version of these needs is low self esteem and inferiority complexes (Boeree, 1998). The next level of needs, the growth needs, differ as these are more concerned with your own personal desire to grow as a person, and not necessarily stages you must go through in order to be happy and well adjusted. These self realisation/ self actualising needs sit at the top of the pyramid. Indeed, the humanistic view in general is based around the idea that each individual controls and must take responsibility for their own happiness and mental health. Maslow s hierarchy of needs theory has the similar principle of Freud s theory of development as they are both concerned with life stages ,as well as being based on the belief that an individual can t skip any such stages.
