The Pikes Peak Gold Rush and Civil and Indian Wars
Until gold was revealed in the Rocky Mountains in 1859, the native population was virtually
undisturbed by outside influence and the prairies were freely used to sustain life. When the gold was
discovered, a whole new attitude came across the land. The population exploded and that means that
there came change. With the discovery of gold, the invaders from the east would make those changes.
Just like the unearthing of this widely sought out metal a decade earlier in California by the forty
niners, the fifty niners forced themselves in to stake and protect their claims. With these changes,
those who had original title to the land would find themselves under new ideas, new laws, and a new
way of life. But, just because there is gold to be had, not everybody will be successful. There will be
new wealth and bitter disappointment. So, the question is who benefitted the most from this discovery
and who got the wrong end of the stick? The first set of losers were the go backs . No census was ever
taken to count the number of people who lefts their homes to go to the mountains, but it was estimated
that the number totaled a 100,000 new immigrants by historians with about only 50,000 making it.
The work was hard and the returns were disappointing. Some miners made it rich, but most didn t.
What little bit of gold that they did find was used for food, housing, and supplies. So after a couple of
weeks, half of them either started new towns, farms, businesses to sell much needed

LIFE AND PHILOSOPHY OF J.D. SALINGER
J.D. Salinger is one of the most renowned writers of his time. J. D. Salinger is most known for his
controversial in the Catcher in the Rye. Salinger is also known for many of his writings such as
Franney and Zooey, Nine Stories, and Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters. The summer of 1930 he
was voted The Most Popular Writer . Salinger is a beautifully deft, professional who gives us a chance
to catch quick, half amused, half frightened glimpses of ourselves and our contemporaries, as he
confronts us with his brilliant mirror images (Lomazoff 1). In the novel, Catcher in the Rye, there is a
relationship between the main character, Holden Caulfield, and Salinger. J.D. Salinger s Catcher in ...

In the mid 1940 s Zen Buddhism began to influence Salinger s life and writings. Also, in the early 50 s
Salinger met frequently met with teenagers while writing Catcher. These influences, and also the fact
that he was an unknown writer made him free from clichés and slogans that the rest of the world fell
prey to. Salinger only seeked independence, growth, and stability in his life. Because Salinger was not
a renowned writer, he did not have to worry about meeting expectations or censorship. Salinger would
never try to censor himself, and felt that he should not have to. He frequently speaks of a phony
society in which we all live in and in order to be accepted into the adult world, we must become a
phony . Being a phony meaning, adjusting yourself to become what is socially acceptable even though
it may not be what you desire to achieve.
His work is a unique phenomenon, important as the voice of a silent generation in revolt against a
phony world and in search of mystical escapes from a deteriorating society rather than causes
promising political revolution or reform (French 4).
Many of Salingers views for The Catcher in the Rye come from his intense hatred for hypocrisy. In the
novel, Holden Caulfield feels that he must not submit to the phoniness of life, but attain an attitude of
tolerance, understanding, and live which will make his life endurable.

Loopholes In Gun Laws
Have you heard of the many recent shootings that have happened throughout all of America? It s
unacceptable and there are flaws in our system that allow people to get guns when they shouldn t.
Issues such as loopholes, mentally ill accessing guns, and weak gun laws. There shouldn t be any
loopholes in gun laws. For example, anyone could easily purchase a gun at a gun show with no
background check or anything else according to the article on the web site Governing, Known as the
gun show loophole, most states do not require background checks for firearms purchased at gun shows
from private individuals federal law only requires licensed dealers to conduct checks. Furthermore,
another thing is people purchasing guns to sell them to others with no documentation or anything else.
The idea that I propose to fix the current problem with guns is having a check up on the guns that
people purchased every 6 months. In the recent shooting that happened in Florida, the shooter easily
purchased a gun in spite of the fact that he wrote a youtube comment that hints his plans for the
shooting according to the article How gun background checks work published by CNN, He even made
explicit threats that foreshadowed Wednesday s massacre. Last fall, a YouTube user going by the name

Relationship Between People And Environment
What is the relationship between people and the environment?
Wesley Jean
Florida Gulf Coast University
Undergraduate Studies Fall 2017 IDS 3920 CRN 80335
To emulate the relationship between people and the environment, I find it best to consider Newton s
third law of motion which states; For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Meaning
that for every change made in nature, there will be an inevitable change in mankind a theory that can
easily be proven justifiable. There are a myriad of examples that proves a linear relationship between
people and the environment some for the good and unfortunately some for the worse. However, in an
effort to illustrate and thoroughly explain the dynamic relationship between people and the
environment, I will provide research on what I view as the three most distinguished areas where the
nature of our relationship can not be ignored. These topics include our effects on other species,
climate, and collectively vegetation and landscape. To begin, over the course of history human
activities have drastically changed or destroyed the natural habitats that are essential to the survival of
plants and animals. We have been known to pollute habitats, hunt and kill animals illegally, and our
trivial need to fulfill our aches for luxurious lifestyle often has the side effect and disrespecting home
and resources of other species that we share the plant Earth with. Our human population is multiplying
at an alarming rate

The Safety Of The Space Race
On August 2, 1955, the Space Race, the race for spaceflight supremacy, began, with two countries
going head to head, United States of America and the Soviet Union. The front row seat to the most
thrilling show on Earth. From the day the Space Race commenced, to present day, safety has always
been a fragile subject. Believe it or not, the safety of humans was not always the objective. These next
events altered the concept of safety within the Space Shuttle era.
On January 28, 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger was rolled out to Kennedy Space Center s Pad
39A, for what would end up being its final launch. At T minus 5 seconds, the solid rocket boosters
ignited, propelling the nearly 134 ton vertical flight vehicle into geocentric orbit. However, at T plus
73 seconds, Challenger experienced catastrophic structural failure which resulted in the loss of both
the Shuttle and the seven crew members onboard. Among those seven crew members was Christa
McAuliffe, an American teacher from Concord, New Hampshire. McAuliffe was slated to be the first
teacher in space, as well as the first teacher to teach not one, but two lessons from space.
Unfortunately, had NASA not ignored the many warnings from their contractor s flight engineers
declaring the solid rocket boosters unfit to fly in such a cold temperature, the astronauts aboard the
Challenger would still be with us today. Furthermore, if Challenger, or any Shuttle for that matter, had
been built with an emergency evacuation

Why I Want To Join The Football Team
Looking back to the days of my freshman year in high school, I recall vividly how I aspired to join the
football team but could not. I felt so bad but I did not back down, remembering all the great men of
this world who kept on trying until they achieved their goal, the likes of Thomas Edison, Albert
Einstein and so on. I made joining the football team my number one priority in high school.
My first year in high school ended without me achieving my goal and this only meant one thing to me,
I was not good enough . During the summer I found a football school very close to my house, I
quickly enrolled. Determined to get better I ensured I never missed a day of practice, making every
minute count.
Months went by, and summer came to an end. Feeling so excited and prepared I ran straight to school
and zoomed towards Coach Staggs s office, the assistant football coach as well as my world history
teacher. I told him that I would love to tryout for the football team, he granted my request but once
more I was unable to make the team. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

do the best for the team, and at the end of the Texans were victorious. Using this as a motivation I said

Chadwick s Class Structure
The transportation changed greatly from horse drawn carriages to electric powered street cars that
were more comfortable and faster, this also meant the roads needed to be wider like they were made in
France after the revolutions by Napoleon the 3rd. Public health was made better by people like Edwin
chadwick who was an advocate for better sewer systems and cleaner factories. The class structure
changed a great amount due to reform in the government to make a middle class made up of skilled
workers and unskilled workers, this led to the class structure being more balanced and rich people
didn t control everything like the old times. Family life changed because men were seen as the bread

My Fair Lady Dimed Analysis
My Fair Lady and Nickeled and Dimed are both great novels focusing in on wealth and money. While
these books are unique in their own different ways, they are basically the opposites of one another!
My Fair Lady focusing on the young and witty Eliza Doolittle who is brought up into a high class
lady. While in Nickeled and Dimed, Barbara is leaving her high class paying job and moving down
into a low class minimum wage paying job. It is very interesting to see how these two books are so
similar but have two drastically different situations. Furthermore, I believe that people should respect
each class more, we should not scrutinize others based on their education or income level. These
novels really look into what it is like to be in another person s shoes, and I honestly feel that in the end
of both novels, each character had gone on their own journey and in the end had more respect and
outlook on the class system. Beginning with My Fair Lady, the plot is set in London, in the late
Edwardian era. Eliza Doolittle is a young girl lacking a formal education, shadowed from the high
class system. She is then taken in by Henry Higgins, a professor who is highly educated but tends to
strive away from the typical class act, making him have an odd relationship with his mother. Henry
decides to make Eliza into a educated, beautiful, high class lady, and pass her off at a very elegant
event. She then goes through numerous amounts of speech and manner lessons. I also feel

United States Armed Forces Are Only For The Rough And Tough
The United States Armed Forces are only for the rough and tough. I learned about the military through
commercials on television, my family members who veterans, and recruiters walking are thought my
neighborhood and at school when I was a child. Join the most powerful military in the world, said a
military poster I had seen walking home from work one day and the Be All That You Can Be Army
commercials played while I was watching television. I believed that if I was rough and tough enough
to join the military then I could do anything I put my mind to. It became a challenge and I decided to
take on the challenge.
I recall the very day I decided to join the military. As I sat in keyboard class, the teacher turn on the
television. The news was on with a live broadcast of the Twin towers located in New York. Smoke was
coming from one of the towers. Seeing this major event happen caused everyone in my class to talk.
Some of my classmates started screaming and crying when the plane hit the other tower. School was
released early because of the amount of students who had relatives that worked in the twin towers.
Seeing all of my classmates and the other kids at my school crying caused something inside me to
want to make a difference and fight for my country. Without doing any research of my own about the
different branches of the military, I chose to join the Army. On the way home, I went to the nearest
recruiting office and that became the beginning of my military career.

Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF)
For the last decade, the Army has been actively engaged in the War on Terror. Operation Enduring
Freedom (OEF) began on October 7, 2001 with allied air strikes on Taliban and Al Quada targets in
Afghanistan. Even though United States President Barrack Obama announced the drawdown of
Armed Forces in Afghanistan by the end of 2016, OEF would have lasted 15 years, becoming the
Army s longest war in the United States history (Taylor, 2014). On the other hand, Operation Iraqi
Freedom (OIF) lasted approximately 105 months, beginning in March 2003 and lasted until December
2011 with the withdrawal of combat troops from Iraq (Schifrin, 2011). Between OEF and OIF, over 2

physicians noticed that service members treated geographically proximate to the battle field, improved

Soldiers who experienced combat stress be treated close to the front (proximity), shortly after
evacuation (immediacy) and with the expectation to return to duty (expectancy). The return to duty
rate for hospitals near the front lines was reported to be as high as 80% while divisional hospitals
reported a 65% return to duty rate. This treatment was later described as forward psychiatry and is still
used in combat medicine. (Jones Wessley,

Comparing Philosophy And Cosmological Approach To The...
Natural Theology is when both philosophy and theology work together as one to provide more logical
proof and understanding through nature that God actually does exist, as opposed to leaning on an
individual faith, revelation, experience or religion. Natural theology is the reasonable idea so to speak
that God exists and has always existed. This is examined through our natural understanding and
observation of nature, how things happen in the world and even through our own existence as human
beings. The main differences within Philosophy and Theology is that Philosophy for example is the
study and the knowledge of how the world works and of whom we, as humans are through reality and
the world we live in meanwhile, Theology is the study of God and religion which happens to be
completely different with how philosophy views God and religion. Although theology and philosophy
are completely different, when both come together, Natural theology comes about providing a new
approach of thought in the existence of God. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Ontological approach was developed by Saint Anselm, according to the lecture, This proof is
based upon the following reasoning: I can imagine a perfect being. Perfection and non existence are
logically inconsistent ideas, because failing to exist is an imperfection. (South University Online).
Basically this approach is said that merely existing is the necessary result of perfection. If we can
simply exist then, there must be a divine, perfect being that has always and also exists as well
however, afterwards, philosopher Immanuel Kant argued that simply because there is the thought that
existence is perfect, does not give us proof or enough information to say that in fact, there is a divine
being, Kant felt that it was all a simple thought and provided no natural proof of any

Communication In Interpersonal Communication
Faith Awareness
To begin with, this paper will include seven different concepts that were learned from interpersonal
communication. Starting off with the different communication needs and finishing with deception
within relationships. To mention a few, also included in the paper are how perception affects
communication, Knapp s stages of relational development and Gottman s four horsemen of the
apocalypse. Each concept will be defined as by the book, Interpersonal Communication, by Kory
Floyd (2011). Furthermore, concepts learned will be discussed on how this affects our faith and
communication with future relationships.
Communication Needs
First, communication needs are aspects in our lives that are affected by our communication. These are
physical, relational, identity, spiritual and instrumental needs. Physical needs help with maintaining
one s physical and mental health. Next are relational needs, which assist in developing friendships and
relationships. Communication helps with figuring out who you are as a person, this is known as
identity needs. The fourth need communication helps with is spiritual needs, which lets us share our
beliefs and values with others (Floyd, 2011, p. 9). Last one are instrumental needs, these make it easier
for everyday tasks.
Communication needs serve an importance to our relationships because by understanding how
communication fits in on our needs as humans, this can help us express effectively towards others.
This helps us

John Wesley Movement Of Grace
The principle element of John Wesley s theology is the supernatural working of God s grace. As
developed by Collins, for Wesley the Christian life was a journey made only possible by the working
of God s grace (Collins, 2007). Through the entire work of God and man, God s nature of grace is
evident. Wesley describes the movement of God s grace in and through man in what he describes as
the Via Salutis or the Way of Salvation. Furthermore, the Via Salutis address several facets of grace
that Wesley identifies, including; prevenient grace, convincing grace, saving grace, assurance,
sanctifying grace and glorifying grace (Collins, 2007). The movement of grace is defined as
prevenient grace, or preemptive grace. Prevenient grace as described ... Show more content on

Wesley s intent is clear. There is a maturing and yielding process that every follower of Christ must
submit to in order to discover the depth and riches of God s love. As Mulholland describes
(Mulholland Barton, 2017), there is a great union to be had between God and man. Within that union
is the transforming power to discover oneness with God. A union that creates oneness that relinquishes
self control and yields to the eternal transforming power of God s grace. Further this process of
yielding, uniting, maturing, and pursuing is the central theme of Wesley s desire for every man,
woman, and child to experience the depth of God s holy

Elizabeth s Short Story
About two centuries ago, Mary Elizabeth of Kilmallock told news reporter, Diane Jennings, about the
six centuries old psychotic leprechaun her and her friends accidently released. Elizabeth s story went
viral around town for months, no one knew whether to believe it or to believe she was psychotic
herself. She was new around town. Her father, Henry Hickem, had just helped her buy a new house in
Kilmallock, Ireland. Both Elizabeth and her friends had just finished college at the time and were
going to live in the new house. Elizabeth never pictured her first day living in her new house to turn
into the most frightening day of her life. It all happened on March, 17, 1745 on Saint Patrick s day.
Elizabeth and her two friends, Michael Woodberg and Josefine Pettersen, were moving into their new

A Room of One’s Own and Modern Fiction Essay
A Room of One s Own and Modern Fiction
One of the first things to notice about A Room of One s Own is that it is not a typical lecture. It
rambles and flows back and forth, in and out. It is more narrative than logic. It breaks many of the
conventions of a formal address. Why does Virginia Woolf choose to do this? Why choose this style,
this method? One reason is to turn predominantly masculine, or traditional, thinking on its head in
order to undermine its authority. There is another reason for her approach, however one that rises from
her most basic ideas about what literature and writing should be and do. Her ideas about what makes
for good writing are contained in this text, if indirectly. Grasping these ideas allows the ... Show more

Part of the power of A Room of One s Own is its ability to engage the depths of human psychology
where logical analysis and rhetoric might fail to do so.
Though the problems with which Woolf is presented in A Room of One s Own are significantly
attached to historical problems, her main role in the work is as a literary critic rather than historian,
though on the surface she does not seem to say much about style, method and criticism in it. She
mentions Jane Austen s sentences, how material concerns influence writers, a few words about the
structure of the novel and that fiction is like a spider s web (Woolf, AROO 35). These themes seem to
be contained in greater detail throughout the work, but hidden, just beneath the surface. There are
other places, however, where Woolf speaks more directly about the aims and methods of writing. In
her 1925 essay, Modern Fiction, she claims that it is Life that good writing must search for and
somehow capture. She writes: Life is not a series of gig lamps symmetrically arranged; but a luminous
halo, a semi transparent envelope surrounding us from the beginning of consciousness to the end (287
88). Life is like the sea, with its ebb and flow; it is like a river, constantly changing, yet always the
same. Navigating these waters is the ultimate goal of writing for her, but this alone does not account
for her use of the subjective, of impressions, in her own

purpose is to reveal how innocent lives were lost in the bombing, the immense trauma that the

Social Penetration Theory
Founder of the theory
The founders of the theory were Irwin Altman and Dalmas Taylor. Altman is a distinguished professor
of psychology at the University of Utah whereby Taylor is a professor of psychology at the University
of Texas, Arlington.
Altman and Taylor developed this theory to provide an understanding of the closeness between two
individuals. Apparently, social penetration is defined as a process that moves a relationship from non
intimate to intimate. The theory states that this process occurs primarily through self disclosure and it
is guided by the assumptions that relationship development is systematic and predictable and it is also

The decision to disclose is based on the perceived rewards the person will gain if he or she discloses
information. If a person perceives that the cause of disclosing information is greater that the rewards
for disclosing information than no information will be disclosed. The larger the reward cost ratio the
more disclosure takes place. If you think to the relationships you have been in you will probably find
that in almost all of them more disclosure took place at the out sets of the relationship than at any
other place. That happens because people initially disclose superficial information that costs very little
if another person finds it out.
Future Development of The Theory
To understand the proximity relationship between two people, Irwin Altman and Dalmas Taylor
(1973) conceptualized a theory called Social Penetration. Both made extensive studies in an area of
social ties on various types of couples. Their theory describes a pattern of relationship development, a
process which they identify as social penetration. Social penetration refers to a bonding process in
which a relationship of individuals to move from superficial communication toward a more intimate
communication.
The relationship is regular and predictable in its development. This is because the relationship is
something important and ...already exists in the heart of our humanity (Rogers and Escudero, 2004).

Decrypting Politics
Conservatism describes the disposition of people who prefer heavy state intervention in private life
and little or no state invention in the economy. Laura Stoker, a professor at the University of
California, Berkeley, created a graph (Figure 1) that separates people s political standing based on
their views of state intervention in private life and the economy (The Charles and Louise Travers
Department of Political Science University of California, Berkeley). This description allows
individuals to compare and contrast the different political views of people. However, there is more to

There is not a specific enterprise faction within the conservative movement, but this exemplifies how
there is not perfect harmony. More accurately, Lichtman is revealing how the conservative movement,
through the joining of the knowledge, influence, and resources from the businesses that invest
themselves in the movement, works with the religious side s passion to form a workable base.
The first faction of the conservative movement we will analyze is the traditionalist faction. Dunn
views the traditionalists as the original leaders of the modern conservative movement. He states they
provided intellectual leadership spanning many years. This faction was horrified about the projects to
expand government, such as the New Deal and the Great Society. Looking to foreign affairs, they
were against the threat of communism (Dunn, vii). James Ceaser includes that presently traditionalists
have become defenders of the culture (Dunn, 23). Ceaser believes they prefer change that comes
naturally rather than change that is created and forced. In this way they aim to conserve by keeping
more of a status quo or what gradually evolves in politics from situations. This seems to reveal the
current situation in which a dramatic change in health care was forced upon the American people, for
disapproval continues to be greater than approval (Rasmussen Reports, LLC). This is an example of

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of systemic curcumin therapy 3 on
alveolar bone loss in an experimental periodontitis model on rats. 4 Material and Methods: Thirty two
male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to 4 groups: 75 5 mg/kg/daily curcumin (C75; n=8), 150
mg/kg/daily curcumin (C150; n=8), Control (n=8), and 6 Ligated (n=8). Curcumin was administrated
using gastric gavage. Experimental periodontitis 7 was induced. After 12 days, the rats were
sacrificed. Right mandibles, serum samples and 8 gingival homogenates were obtained from the rats.
Alveolar bone loss was measured. 9 Interleukin 1β (IL 1β) and interleukin 10 (IL 10) were evaluated
in the serum samples and 10 gingival homogenates. The mandible samples were histopathologically
examined. Results: 11 The measurements of alveolar bone loss in the mandibular molars revealed

The Imagination Of A Child
Maximilien Francois Marie Isidore de Robespierre. (1758 1794)
The endeavour to explain the suppressed imagination of a child is one of difficulty.
Rhetorical information acknowledging Robespierre s life; create limitations on the evidence to
substantiate and actualise the effects of diminishing absolutism. The independent imagination of
Robespierre s young mind while proceeding into manhood; portrays a man dominated by the
anthropocentric essence of morality, virtue and terror; a mind without boundaries inherits the burdens
of confusion, fear, and loss of direction .
The traditional interpretation of Maximilien Robespierre s life by Lewes (1849) articulates and
identifies a birth on May, Sixth, 1758 in Arras, France. Robespierre the oldest of four younger siblings
became independent just after the age of six when his mother died during childbirth. Maximillian s
father, a Lawyer became deeply depressed after the death of his wife and newborn child, and left the
family home. As a result, Maximilien and his brother resided with their maternal grandfather and his
Fathers sisters settled upon the two sisters.
Thus, after the separation, the four children, still remained a close family. An alternative narration by
Belloc (1899) gives comparisons to Robespierre s nativity and early life tragedy.

Chekov Upper Class
For centuries, those who have lower societal class have always been dehumanized and ridiculed, for
no other reason than having less money than the higher class. In the story, An Upheaval, as well as the
short film, I m Not the Indian You Had in Mind, material objects are used to show the seemingly
drastic differences between two social standings. This is important because in order for society to
function prosperously, the wise thing to do is to get rid of this thinking, so people no longer have to
face this inhumane discrimination. In Chekov s An Upheaval, Lady Fenya s missing brooch is a
symbol that represents how the upper class society has a misconstrued view of the lower class. For
example, when Mashenka finds out that

Amazon Drones Research Paper
Going to the grocery store is always a long process that many people dislike. Many businesses have
tried delivering groceries since the late 90 s but it is very expensive and inefficient. Not a single
business was able to establish a cheap efficient way to deliver groceries to your front door. After a few
years of trying many methods, Google and Amazon are attempting to pick up goods at stores and
deliver them to homes using route optimization algorithms. This method seems great, however it is
still on the pricy side. Google Express and AmazonFresh are not exactly cheap. Amazon is charging
$299 per year to have this luxury service. Therefore, drone delivery experiments have been tested by
numerous companies, like UPS. The drones are not the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the vans are loaded with the proper packages, the in warehouse vans will not make any errors

of the packages were confirmed deliveries, the van returns to the warehouse and repeats the cycle.
Overall, the idea of this grocery delivery robot is a fantastic innovation. This will save people valuable
time and cause less hectic stress of going to the store to buy their groceries. People simply have a lot
of things to do nowadays and the last thing they want to do is go grocery shopping after a long day of

How Did Henry Viii Change England
From the period of 1400s to the 1600s, great changes in the attitude of Divine Right of Kings and the
general population were taking place. Since 1215 and the signing of the Magna Carta, King John and
the following monarchs were destined to change the course of government to a limited government for
future generations.
The Tudors ruled England from 1485 to 1603 after defeating Richard III, King Henry VII was able to
claim the British throne through his mother, Margaret Beaufort. He believed in the Diving Right to
rule. Henry VII s son, Henry VIII was a deciding factor in the change by uniting the country and
breaking ties with the Catholic Church.

After the death of Elizabeth I, King James VI of Scotland, the great grandson of Henry VII s oldest

The Stuart dynasty was a period of religious disagreement and debate and very radical political ideas.

Comparing The Robber Bridegroom And The Grimm Brothers
Fairy tales possess the ability to last throughout the decades. The stories are passed down from
generations and teach valuable lessons in extraordinary ways. In fact, most fairy tales began with oral
storytelling. However, The Grimm Brothers made multiple editions of tales that they claimed as their
own. With over 200 fairy tales, not all of their stories gained the same amount of popularity. Their
more prominent stories, such as Cinderella and Snow White, create a sense of whimsy with talking
animals and love. In contrast, The Robber Bridegroom, a lesser known fairy tale, focuses on dark
ideas: cannibalism and murder. The Grimm Brothers fairy tale The Robber Bridegroom did not reach
the same level of acclaim as other Grimm stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Grimm stories usually contain the standard characters of a fairy tale. In a normal fairy tale, the
characters include the fool, the fairy, the wicked crone, the charming prince, and the beautiful damsel
(Heckel). While not all of these characters are always included, most stories contain some
combination of them. These characters help make the iconic setup that makes the story popular. For
instance, the famous fairy tale Snow White shows off a wicked crone, a charming prince, and the
beautiful damsel. Snow White escapes her evil queen mother and ends up with her prince ( Snow
White ). In Snow White, the ideal structure is in place; everything comes together and it has a joyful
ending. However, in The Robber Bridegroom, there is no charming prince or a standard wicked crone
( The Robber ). The daughter is left to defend herself against the suitor and she does not end up with
love. The archetypal characters are not only missing, but the standard theme of love is not present
anywhere within the story. The fairy tale did not reach its full capability because it lacks the archetypal
characters that let readers connect to the

Stereotypes Of Student Athletes
Okay I ll sign this paper, but this doesn t mean you re excused and you can t make up the participation

Tulane University. My sport is Track and Field and I am a hurdler. As a student athlete, one of my
responsibilities is to inform professors of when I ll be out of class due to a meet and to have them sign
a form saying it s okay to miss their class. On quite a few of these occasions I ve heard the first quote
above. These professors believe that I am the stereotypical athlete. There are these ongoing
stereotypes that student athletes are dumb, lazy, and privileged. It s understandable that people believe
these stereotypes, news magazines and reports are always talking about how athletes are coddled and
cheat their way to success. Though it is nowhere near true for the majority of student athletes, a select
few situations encourage this negative categorization of us, thus putting student athletes under even
more pressure to perform. Student athletes are constantly misjudged and the assumptions are affecting
us. For example, in his article Checking Athlete s Privilege, Michael Kasdan writes, Giving star
athletes preferential treatment doesn t begin in college. It starts much younger. The coddling, the

Summary Of Dr. Phil s Ten Relationship Myth
DR. PHIL The article labeled Ten relationship Myths by Dr. Phil is very insightful and thought
provoking text, organized in a number listed format and then each number presents a myth with
following bullet points of reasoning underneath. There were a few described Myths that personally
stuck out the most. The first myth states A great relationship depends on the great meeting of the
minds. He points out that partners will never fully be able to understand each other completely
because there are distinct psychological and physiological differences that make this completely
impossible. Recognize that a relationship is far more enjoyable when you re with someone who

Phil noted that men and women are wired differently and attempting to blur viewpoints is unnatural
and dangerous. When couples try to insist their viewpoints on each other, it often starts ego conflict
that can be harmful to the self esteem. Which ties in with Myth #3 Great relationships cause great
problem solving. Ironic myth, right? The ability to problem solve seems to be a key component in
healthy relationships? Dr. Phil embellished on this by pointing out that 90 percent of conflicts in
relationships are unsolvable, and you can still be happy even if you and your partner can t solve
disagreements. There are things that you and your partner disagree about and will continue to disagree
about. Why can t you once and for all resolve these issues? Because in order to do so, one of you
would have to sacrifice your values and beliefs. The textbook describes one of the dangers when
engaging in conflict is when power is unequally distributed by interpersonal power. Which causes the
other partner to feel unheard and weak in the relationship. Dr. Phil gives the advice that agreeing to
disagree is O.K.. If the problem is unsolvable, it s healthy to reach emotional closure this

America s Responsibility For Global Tensions With The...

responsibility for global tensions with the United Soviet Socialist Republics, during the 20th century,
using war data. This piece will attempt to discover patterns and make observational conclusions on
American foreign policy through direct war data. The Correlates of War Project will serve as the
source for the majority of data on American wars and American military involvement. However, the
Correlates of War Project (C.O.W. Project), only provides data on American military action after 1816.

Lastly, some separate conflicts within the C.O.W. will be combined which represent a near identical

Caribbean region following the Spanish American War, which share the same purpose, will be referred
to as the Banana Wars . However, distinctly important Native American wars will be mentioned, as
well as Native American wars with significant foreign involvement. American armed conflicts have
been divided into three periods for organizational purposes. Therefore, the following writing will
attempt to observe American responsibility for the Cold War using war information, data, and patterns.
The first major period of American foreign policy began in 1756, with the outbreak of the French and
Indian war, and ends with the start of the Mexican American war in 1846. This period has been chosen
because it constitutes the formation of the American nation and identity. Many military actions and
wars helped shape American identity prior to independence. However, the French and Indian War was
the only major war in the American region before the Revolutionary War. The French and Indian War
essentially comprised the global Seven Years War within the North American theater. In Europe war
began in 1754, Great Britain, Prussia, and regions of the Holy Roman Empire fought against

Analysis Of Chapter 99 Of Moby-Dick
Society is currently at this peculiar point in which we condemn the sordidness of others, yet we do not
acknowledge or attempt to change our own ignoble thoughts and intentions. The vast majority of
people have committed an ignoble act or even had a dirty thought at one point in their lives. So how
do we justify our own sordidness, yet denounce others for theirs? To put it simply: We interpret it
differently. We examine our own thoughts and intentions in a completely different light than how we
view others. People possess an entire set of context and past experiences that they can utilize in order
to justify their own shameful thoughts and behaviors which they lack when examining the sordidness
of others. In this sense, the interpretation of our own sordidness does not necessarily solve the issue.
Rather, it allows us to justify it and live with the false belief that our own dishonorable tendencies are
more appropriate than those of others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

factory space within the armed forces. Relative to their size they suffered more casualties than any

The morale of the German people was not affected enough to effect their war waging capacity. Neither

that bombing raids would be made in the daylight. In August 1940 German bombers suffered heavily
in daylight even though they were escorted. This helped to confirm to Bomber Command that night
bombing was the best policy. Bomber Command flew night missions over Germany during the winter
of 1940 1941 in the belief their bombs had fallen within about 300 yards of their targets. This figure
was plainly wrong, a new assumption was made. The R.A.F decided the average error was closer to
1000 yards, which meant that Bomber Command could not be expected to hit targets as small as oil
facilities, until they had been equipped with vastly improved navigational aids. The U.S.A.A.F
opposed Bomber Commands view, they believed accurate bombing could only be achieved during the
day. They assumed unescorted bombers flying in well designed formations could penetrate the
German lines. On 14th October 1943, 60 out 291 flying fortresses were shot down by German fighters

Affordable Care Act Case Study
The fertility rate is an important factor when evaluating the health of the public. Despite the United
States having one of the best healthcare systems in the world, approximately 13% of women between
the age of 18 44 have trouble conceiving. Although the US has implemented the Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act, a landmark policy, assisting millions of Americans in obtaining health insurance,
unless altered, the policy could hurt the 3 out of 20 women who struggle with infertility. After
evaluating the core essential benefits of the Affordable Care Act, the views of stakeholders, and the
state mandates, an easy solution can be established to assist those suffering from impaired fecundity.

Essay on The Origins of Akhenaten
The Origins of Akhenaten
There is much that is known about Akhenaten the heretic pharaoh. More lies in speculation. Since his
time, the Amarna period is one the ancient Egyptians themselves wished to forget much about
Akhenaten remains unknown. What we do know is often confusing, different hypothesis piled upon
each other make it difficult to distinguish what is fact and what speculation.
We do know that Akhenaten, or Amenhotep IV, was the second son of Amenhotep III, an 18th Dynasty
pharaoh and his Queen Tiye. Although we know he had an older brother Thutmose and several sisters,
he was never shown in family portraits or records, the only documented proof we have linking him to

Again, in some portraits of Akhenaten and his family usually during the early period of his reign, his
daughters and sometimes his wife Nefertiti are shown as sharing some of his deformities, his
daughters certainly are usually shown as having highly unusual head shapes . Since the shapes of the
heads of the princesses correspond with that of Tutankhamen s, it is possible that they really were
result of a genetic defect on Akhenaten part, though they were no doubt exaggerated.
Another factor supporting the theory that Akhenaten suffered from Marfan syndrome is the unusually
informal settings in which both Akhenaten s and Tutankhamen s families are portrayed. The royal
family is shown as always touching, images of Tutankhamen and his wife Ankhesenamen also show
the couple as always touching each other. This could quite possibly suggest that besides being a close
family, Akhenaten and Tutankhamen may have been blind to some degree, due to ailments such as
cataracts, iridodensis, detached retinas or glaucoma; all symptoms of Marfan s .
On the other hand, there may have been nothing wrong with Akhenaten, Tutankhamen, his supposed
son does have an irregularly shaped skull but it is not enough to be called abnormal. It is indeed
possible that the stylization of the pharaoh in this way was an artistic expression of the religious
changes taking place during the Amarna period.

A Brief Note On The North American Free Trade Agreement
Employment is the main source of income for the majority of the population in United States, Canada
and Mexico. Therefore, the most prevalent method of measuring a trade agreements impact on the
well being of the populace can be found by calculating the number of jobs gained or lost as a result of
the agreement and the quality of said jobs. The largest trade agreement in North America is called
NAFTA. The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was officially signed on January 1st
1994, creating the largest and one of the most powerful free trade regions of the world. NAFTA

Initial proponents of NAFTA argued that the agreement, seeking to liberalize trade between the U.S.,
Canada, and Mexico, would help generate thousands of jobs and reduce income disparity in the
region. Opponents, however, warned that the agreement would cause huge job losses in the United
States as companies moved production to Mexico to lower cost (Villarreal and Fergusson, 2014). Now
that the agreement has been in place for over 20 years the results yielded can be clearly discussed.
One of the biggest proponents of debate comes from the losses and gains taking place in the work
force; more specifically how the agreement has impacted jobs across all three regions. As stated
earlier, it has been a fear of many that developing trade relations with developing countries such as
Mexico, would cause U.S. job losses and potentially equate to rising unemployment. The reason for
this is because the wages in Mexico were quite lower than that of the U.S., giving Mexico the default
advantage in manufacturing goods that might require significant labor. Several reports found that
NAFTA had little or no impact on aggregate employment (Hornbeck, 2004). Hornbeck (2004) reports
that the Carnegie Endowment study suggests that there was a net gain in U.S. employment in the first
ten years following the Act, creating between 0 to 270,000 jobs.
The Carnegie study is just one of many that state s NAFTA s net effect on jobs was negligible;

Currently there is six million Natives living in between the United States and Canada, and only 25,000
Blackfoot Indians between the two countries (Reddish). In the short story Borders by Thomas King,
the treatment of natives is shown to light in a common practice. While trying to cross the United

son, of Blackfoot Indian decent, are stopped at the border. She is questioned about her nationality and
calmly states I am Blackfoot, neither American or Canadian (King, 918). She is not allowed to enter
the United States nor Canada and is stuck in a neutral zone. News channels and Newspapers cover this

  • 2. The Pikes Peak Gold Rush and Civil and Indian Wars Until gold was revealed in the Rocky Mountains in 1859, the native population was virtually undisturbed by outside influence and the prairies were freely used to sustain life. When the gold was discovered, a whole new attitude came across the land. The population exploded and that means that there came change. With the discovery of gold, the invaders from the east would make those changes. Just like the unearthing of this widely sought out metal a decade earlier in California by the forty niners, the fifty niners forced themselves in to stake and protect their claims. With these changes, those who had original title to the land would find themselves under new ideas, new laws, and a new way of life. But, just because there is gold to be had, not everybody will be successful. There will be new wealth and bitter disappointment. So, the question is who benefitted the most from this discovery and who got the wrong end of the stick? The first set of losers were the go backs . No census was ever taken to count the number of people who lefts their homes to go to the mountains, but it was estimated that the number totaled a 100,000 new immigrants by historians with about only 50,000 making it. The work was hard and the returns were disappointing. Some miners made it rich, but most didn t. What little bit of gold that they did find was used for food, housing, and supplies. So after a couple of weeks, half of them either started new towns, farms, businesses to sell much needed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. salinger Essay LIFE AND PHILOSOPHY OF J.D. SALINGER J.D. Salinger is one of the most renowned writers of his time. J. D. Salinger is most known for his controversial in the Catcher in the Rye. Salinger is also known for many of his writings such as Franney and Zooey, Nine Stories, and Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters. The summer of 1930 he was voted The Most Popular Writer . Salinger is a beautifully deft, professional who gives us a chance to catch quick, half amused, half frightened glimpses of ourselves and our contemporaries, as he confronts us with his brilliant mirror images (Lomazoff 1). In the novel, Catcher in the Rye, there is a relationship between the main character, Holden Caulfield, and Salinger. J.D. Salinger s Catcher in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the mid 1940 s Zen Buddhism began to influence Salinger s life and writings. Also, in the early 50 s Salinger met frequently met with teenagers while writing Catcher. These influences, and also the fact that he was an unknown writer made him free from clichés and slogans that the rest of the world fell prey to. Salinger only seeked independence, growth, and stability in his life. Because Salinger was not a renowned writer, he did not have to worry about meeting expectations or censorship. Salinger would never try to censor himself, and felt that he should not have to. He frequently speaks of a phony society in which we all live in and in order to be accepted into the adult world, we must become a phony . Being a phony meaning, adjusting yourself to become what is socially acceptable even though it may not be what you desire to achieve. His work is a unique phenomenon, important as the voice of a silent generation in revolt against a phony world and in search of mystical escapes from a deteriorating society rather than causes promising political revolution or reform (French 4). Many of Salingers views for The Catcher in the Rye come from his intense hatred for hypocrisy. In the novel, Holden Caulfield feels that he must not submit to the phoniness of life, but attain an attitude of tolerance, understanding, and live which will make his life endurable. • 4. Loopholes In Gun Laws Have you heard of the many recent shootings that have happened throughout all of America? It s unacceptable and there are flaws in our system that allow people to get guns when they shouldn t. Issues such as loopholes, mentally ill accessing guns, and weak gun laws. There shouldn t be any loopholes in gun laws. For example, anyone could easily purchase a gun at a gun show with no background check or anything else according to the article on the web site Governing, Known as the gun show loophole, most states do not require background checks for firearms purchased at gun shows from private individuals federal law only requires licensed dealers to conduct checks. Furthermore, another thing is people purchasing guns to sell them to others with no documentation or anything else. The idea that I propose to fix the current problem with guns is having a check up on the guns that people purchased every 6 months. In the recent shooting that happened in Florida, the shooter easily purchased a gun in spite of the fact that he wrote a youtube comment that hints his plans for the shooting according to the article How gun background checks work published by CNN, He even made explicit threats that foreshadowed Wednesday s massacre. • 5. Relationship Between People And Environment What is the relationship between people and the environment? Wesley Jean Florida Gulf Coast University Undergraduate Studies Fall 2017 IDS 3920 CRN 80335 To emulate the relationship between people and the environment, I find it best to consider Newton s third law of motion which states; For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Meaning that for every change made in nature, there will be an inevitable change in mankind a theory that can easily be proven justifiable. There are a myriad of examples that proves a linear relationship between people and the environment some for the good and unfortunately some for the worse. However, in an effort to illustrate and thoroughly explain the dynamic relationship between people and the environment, I will provide research on what I view as the three most distinguished areas where the nature of our relationship can not be ignored. These topics include our effects on other species, climate, and collectively vegetation and landscape. To begin, over the course of history human activities have drastically changed or destroyed the natural habitats that are essential to the survival of plants and animals. We have been known to pollute habitats, hunt and kill animals illegally, and our trivial need to fulfill our aches for luxurious lifestyle often has the side effect and disrespecting home and resources of other species that we share the plant Earth with. Our human population is multiplying at an alarming rate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Safety Of The Space Race On August 2, 1955, the Space Race, the race for spaceflight supremacy, began, with two countries going head to head, United States of America and the Soviet Union. The front row seat to the most thrilling show on Earth. From the day the Space Race commenced, to present day, safety has always been a fragile subject. Believe it or not, the safety of humans was not always the objective. These next events altered the concept of safety within the Space Shuttle era. On January 28, 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger was rolled out to Kennedy Space Center s Pad 39A, for what would end up being its final launch. At T minus 5 seconds, the solid rocket boosters ignited, propelling the nearly 134 ton vertical flight vehicle into geocentric orbit. However, at T plus 73 seconds, Challenger experienced catastrophic structural failure which resulted in the loss of both the Shuttle and the seven crew members onboard. Among those seven crew members was Christa McAuliffe, an American teacher from Concord, New Hampshire. McAuliffe was slated to be the first teacher in space, as well as the first teacher to teach not one, but two lessons from space. Unfortunately, had NASA not ignored the many warnings from their contractor s flight engineers declaring the solid rocket boosters unfit to fly in such a cold temperature, the astronauts aboard the Challenger would still be with us today. Furthermore, if Challenger, or any Shuttle for that matter, had been built with an emergency evacuation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I felt so bad but I did not back down, remembering all the great men of this world who kept on trying until they achieved their goal, the likes of Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein and so on. I made joining the football team my number one priority in high school. My first year in high school ended without me achieving my goal and this only meant one thing to me, I was not good enough . During the summer I found a football school very close to my house, I quickly enrolled. Determined to get better I ensured I never missed a day of practice, making every minute count. Months went by, and summer came to an end. Feeling so excited and prepared I ran straight to school and zoomed towards Coach Staggs s office, the assistant football coach as well as my world history teacher. • 10. My Fair Lady Dimed Analysis My Fair Lady and Nickeled and Dimed are both great novels focusing in on wealth and money. While these books are unique in their own different ways, they are basically the opposites of one another! My Fair Lady focusing on the young and witty Eliza Doolittle who is brought up into a high class lady. While in Nickeled and Dimed, Barbara is leaving her high class paying job and moving down into a low class minimum wage paying job. It is very interesting to see how these two books are so similar but have two drastically different situations. Furthermore, I believe that people should respect each class more, we should not scrutinize others based on their education or income level. These novels really look into what it is like to be in another person s shoes, and I honestly feel that in the end of both novels, each character had gone on their own journey and in the end had more respect and outlook on the class system. Beginning with My Fair Lady, the plot is set in London, in the late Edwardian era. Eliza Doolittle is a young girl lacking a formal education, shadowed from the high class system. She is then taken in by Henry Higgins, a professor who is highly educated but tends to strive away from the typical class act, making him have an odd relationship with his mother. Henry decides to make Eliza into a educated, beautiful, high class lady, and pass her off at a very elegant event. She then goes through numerous amounts of speech and manner lessons. I also feel ... Natural Theology is when both philosophy and theology work together as one to provide more logical proof and understanding through nature that God actually does exist, as opposed to leaning on an individual faith, revelation, experience or religion. Natural theology is the reasonable idea so to speak that God exists and has always existed. This is examined through our natural understanding and observation of nature, how things happen in the world and even through our own existence as human beings. The main differences within Philosophy and Theology is that Philosophy for example is the study and the knowledge of how the world works and of whom we, as humans are through reality and the world we live in meanwhile, Theology is the study of God and religion which happens to be completely different with how philosophy views God and religion. Starting off with the different communication needs and finishing with deception within relationships. To mention a few, also included in the paper are how perception affects communication, Knapp s stages of relational development and Gottman s four horsemen of the apocalypse. Each concept will be defined as by the book, Interpersonal Communication, by Kory Floyd (2011). Furthermore, concepts learned will be discussed on how this affects our faith and communication with future relationships. Communication Needs First, communication needs are aspects in our lives that are affected by our communication. These are physical, relational, identity, spiritual and instrumental needs. Physical needs help with maintaining one s physical and mental health. Next are relational needs, which assist in developing friendships and relationships. Communication helps with figuring out who you are as a person, this is known as identity needs. The fourth need communication helps with is spiritual needs, which lets us share our beliefs and values with others (Floyd, 2011, p. 9). Last one are instrumental needs, these make it easier for everyday tasks. Communication needs serve an importance to our relationships because by understanding how communication fits in on our needs as humans, this can help us express effectively towards others. It rambles and flows back and forth, in and out. It is more narrative than logic. It breaks many of the conventions of a formal address. Why does Virginia Woolf choose to do this? Why choose this style, this method? One reason is to turn predominantly masculine, or traditional, thinking on its head in order to undermine its authority. There is another reason for her approach, however one that rises from her most basic ideas about what literature and writing should be and do. Her ideas about what makes for good writing are contained in this text, if indirectly. Grasping these ideas allows the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Part of the power of A Room of One s Own is its ability to engage the depths of human psychology where logical analysis and rhetoric might fail to do so. Though the problems with which Woolf is presented in A Room of One s Own are significantly attached to historical problems, her main role in the work is as a literary critic rather than historian, though on the surface she does not seem to say much about style, method and criticism in it. She mentions Jane Austen s sentences, how material concerns influence writers, a few words about the structure of the novel and that fiction is like a spider s web (Woolf, AROO 35). These themes seem to be contained in greater detail throughout the work, but hidden, just beneath the surface. There are other places, however, where Woolf speaks more directly about the aims and methods of writing. In her 1925 essay, Modern Fiction, she claims that it is Life that good writing must search for and somehow capture. She writes: Life is not a series of gig lamps symmetrically arranged; but a luminous halo, a semi transparent envelope surrounding us from the beginning of consciousness to the end (287 88). If a person perceives that the cause of disclosing information is greater that the rewards for disclosing information than no information will be disclosed. If you think to the relationships you have been in you will probably find that in almost all of them more disclosure took place at the out sets of the relationship than at any other place. That happens because people initially disclose superficial information that costs very little if another person finds it out. Future Development of The Theory To understand the proximity relationship between two people, Irwin Altman and Dalmas Taylor (1973) conceptualized a theory called Social Penetration. Both made extensive studies in an area of social ties on various types of couples. Their theory describes a pattern of relationship development, a process which they identify as social penetration. • 30. Catcher In The Rye Research Paper Since the dawn of man, the past has played some part in one s future. Not all memories and experiences in the past are good, some bring deep depression, others violent thoughts and behavior, whatever the case maybe, the past has potential to alter who a person becomes. A person should not let their actions and experiences in the past shape your future, because if one is focused on their past, they cannot develop their true potential in life. To begin with, there are many examples within life and literature that people have formed sullied roots and reputations by their childhood, and young adult actions, but it is a personal decision to allow or disregard these prior actions to shape the person one may become. Holden Caulfield was not a Louie Zamperini, his experiences within life, many of which were depressing, shaped his entire life. Holden was stuck, focusing on what he missed from his past, namely his little brother, Allie, He got leukemia and died when we were up in Maine, on July 18, 1946. You d have liked him. He was two years younger than I was, but he was about fifty times as intelligent (Salinger 38). Holden was fixated on the death of his beloved little brother, sometimes seeming not to accept that Allie was gone. Being stuck in the past did Holden no good, he failed out of many schools, and was unable to keep a friend for long it seems. His obsession with his past caused him unnecessary doubt and worry, Every time I d get to the end of block I d make believe I was talking to Allie. I d say to him, Allie, don t let me disappear. Allie, don t let me disappear. Allie, don t let me disappear. Please Allie (Salinger 198). Allie was a big part in Holden s life, but when Holden was unable to get past his brother s death, his future was put at stake. If Holden continued to let his past control his future, he could of very well been in quite a rough spot, possibly the streets, possibly the ground, but he managed to put the past behind himself with ... Preface The following work will attempt to draw conclusions on the United States of America s responsibility for global tensions with the United Soviet Socialist Republics, during the 20th century, using war data. This piece will attempt to discover patterns and make observational conclusions on American foreign policy through direct war data. The Correlates of War Project will serve as the source for the majority of data on American wars and American military involvement. However, the Correlates of War Project (C.O.W. Project), only provides data on American military action after 1816. But, many armed conflicts preceding 1816, played a crucial role in shaping American foreign policy and identity. Lastly, some separate conflicts within the C.O.W. will be combined which represent a near identical foreign policy. Particularly, all Native American conflicts will be combined and all wars in the Caribbean region following the Spanish American War, which share the same purpose, will be referred to as the Banana Wars . However, distinctly important Native American wars will be mentioned, as well as Native American wars with significant foreign involvement. American armed conflicts have been divided into three periods for organizational purposes. Therefore, the following writing will attempt to observe American responsibility for the Cold War using war information, data, and patterns. The first major period of American foreign policy began in 1756, with the outbreak of the French and Indian war, and ends with the start of the Mexican American war in 1846. This period has been chosen because it constitutes the formation of the American nation and identity. Many military actions and wars helped shape American identity prior to independence. However, the French and Indian War was the only major war in the American region before the Revolutionary War. The French and Indian War essentially comprised the global Seven Years War within the North American theater. • 33. Analysis Of Chapter 99 Of Moby-Dick Society is currently at this peculiar point in which we condemn the sordidness of others, yet we do not acknowledge or attempt to change our own ignoble thoughts and intentions. The vast majority of people have committed an ignoble act or even had a dirty thought at one point in their lives. So how do we justify our own sordidness, yet denounce others for theirs? To put it simply: We interpret it differently. We examine our own thoughts and intentions in a completely different light than how we view others. People possess an entire set of context and past experiences that they can utilize in order to justify their own shameful thoughts and behaviors which they lack when examining the sordidness of others. In this sense, the interpretation of our own sordidness does not necessarily solve the issue. Rather, it allows us to justify it and live with the false belief that our own dishonorable tendencies are more appropriate than those of others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every member of the Pequod interpreted the doubloon in vastly different ways depending on their own personal values and experience. Ahab found a reflection of himself within the coin, while Starbuck viewed the coin in a religious context. The same is true of writing. In August 1940 German bombers suffered heavily in daylight even though they were escorted. This helped to confirm to Bomber Command that night bombing was the best policy. Bomber Command flew night missions over Germany during the winter of 1940 1941 in the belief their bombs had fallen within about 300 yards of their targets. This figure was plainly wrong, a new assumption was made. The R.A.F decided the average error was closer to 1000 yards, which meant that Bomber Command could not be expected to hit targets as small as oil facilities, until they had been equipped with vastly improved navigational aids. The U.S.A.A.F opposed Bomber Commands view, they believed accurate bombing could only be achieved during the day. Since his time, the Amarna period is one the ancient Egyptians themselves wished to forget much about Akhenaten remains unknown. What we do know is often confusing, different hypothesis piled upon each other make it difficult to distinguish what is fact and what speculation. We do know that Akhenaten, or Amenhotep IV, was the second son of Amenhotep III, an 18th Dynasty pharaoh and his Queen Tiye. Again, in some portraits of Akhenaten and his family usually during the early period of his reign, his daughters and sometimes his wife Nefertiti are shown as sharing some of his deformities, his daughters certainly are usually shown as having highly unusual head shapes . Since the shapes of the heads of the princesses correspond with that of Tutankhamen s, it is possible that they really were result of a genetic defect on Akhenaten part, though they were no doubt exaggerated. Another factor supporting the theory that Akhenaten suffered from Marfan syndrome is the unusually informal settings in which both Akhenaten s and Tutankhamen s families are portrayed. The royal family is shown as always touching, images of Tutankhamen and his wife Ankhesenamen also show the couple as always touching each other. This could quite possibly suggest that besides being a close family, Akhenaten and Tutankhamen may have been blind to some degree, due to ailments such as cataracts, iridodensis, detached retinas or glaucoma; all symptoms of Marfan s . On the other hand, there may have been nothing wrong with Akhenaten, Tutankhamen, his supposed son does have an irregularly shaped skull but it is not enough to be called abnormal. It is indeed possible that the stylization of the pharaoh in this way was an artistic expression of the religious changes taking place during the Amarna period. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. A Brief Note On The North American Free Trade Agreement Employment is the main source of income for the majority of the population in United States, Canada and Mexico. Therefore, the most prevalent method of measuring a trade agreements impact on the well being of the populace can be found by calculating the number of jobs gained or lost as a result of the agreement and the quality of said jobs. The largest trade agreement in North America is called NAFTA. The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was officially signed on January 1st 1994, creating the largest and one of the most powerful free trade regions of the world. NAFTA governs the entire spectrum of trade and commerce on the North American continent uniting the economies of Canada, Mexico, and the United States. This agreement has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initial proponents of NAFTA argued that the agreement, seeking to liberalize trade between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, would help generate thousands of jobs and reduce income disparity in the region. Opponents, however, warned that the agreement would cause huge job losses in the United States as companies moved production to Mexico to lower cost (Villarreal and Fergusson, 2014). Now that the agreement has been in place for over 20 years the results yielded can be clearly discussed. One of the biggest proponents of debate comes from the losses and gains taking place in the work force; more specifically how the agreement has impacted jobs across all three regions. As stated earlier, it has been a fear of many that developing trade relations with developing countries such as Mexico, would cause U.S. job losses and potentially equate to rising unemployment. The reason for this is because the wages in Mexico were quite lower than that of the U.S., giving Mexico the default advantage in manufacturing goods that might require significant labor. Several reports found that NAFTA had little or no impact on aggregate employment (Hornbeck, 2004). Hornbeck (2004) reports that the Carnegie Endowment study suggests that there was a net gain in U.S. employment in the first ten years following the Act, creating between 0 to 270,000 jobs. The Carnegie study is just one of many that state s NAFTA s net effect on jobs was negligible; however other data suggests otherwise. In an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
