Police Foils
The police are often characterized as foils when compared to detectives due to their analytical thinking
that requires logical reasonings in order to solve a mystery, and a lack of creative thinking that
detectives use to place themselves in the mind of the criminal. As well, detectives will often solve a
mystery that otherwise discombobulates the police. In Edgar Allan Poe s The Murders in the Rue
Morgue and The Purloined Letter, It is evident that the inability for the police to solve a case
efficiently through their lack of creative thinking and a scarcity of analytical thinking highlights Dupin
s superiority in solving crimes more effectively than the police. In The Purloined Letter, the Police
effectively use clues to find the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the gruesome nature of the crime scene, the Police overlook things and do not analyze every
possible idea, which includes not placing themselves in the psyche of the criminal.Their unskilled
methods are what cause the Police to be inconsistent with either being too detailed in their search, or
not detailed enough. Unlike Dupin, the Police do not have a particular method and he suggests that the
skill of the analyst is evinced. He makes, in silence, a host of observations and inferences (Poe 67).
The inconsistency of the Police search and the lack of logical reasoning and creative thinking does not
allow them to make a conclusion in the case. Dupin steps in to play the role of the Police, using
logical reasoning to search the crime scene, and the detective by using creative thinking to come to a
conclusion. It is evident that the Police are inconsistent when they are not detailed in their search
which highlights Dupin s

Literary Criticism In Literature
The concept of language is integral to the survival and development of human advancement. It
formulates the structures and concepts by which civilizations abide by. The sensibilities and thinking
processes of people are all connected with this type of oral communication. Due to this, much of the
vocabulary is often built up to be as straightforward as possible. Not only that, but frequent pieces of
dialogue that are used to describe certain subjects and concepts have a high probability of being
cataloged for future reference. The memorized bits and pieces are then repeated, learned, and
accepted. As such, the realms of literature are definitively seen as the culmination of language within a
particular group or culture. While this communication between individuals seems like a perfect
solution for a majority of the population, that is not always the case. Sometimes, the delivery of
commonly acknowledged vocabulary gives said vocabulary a different impact or meaning. In order to
fully comprehend the shift in the usage of words and phrases, one must meticulously pick them apart
while also exploring any possibilities that can be linked to them. This practice is known as
deconstructive criticism. This form of literary criticism, as Lois Tyson describes in her book Critical
Theory Today: A User Friendly Guide, became a major influence on literary studies during the late
1970s due to its specialization in revealing the hidden messages and unconscious ideologies that litter

Which, later on, would give us a valuable explanation. If the rockets with the smaller masses went
significant amounts farther than the rocket s with a much larger mass, that would validate my
hypothesis correct.
PROCEDURES
In the steps provided below, are the methods I used to create my rocket. However, the methods listed
may or may not apply to you. Please be aware.
THE BODY:
Materials needed: A 2L Pop bottle, a black marker, paint, a ruler, and a roll of masking tape. You can
also use Duct tape instead of masking tape if you prefer. Both works equally.
For the body of my rocket, I decided to cover it with masking tape. If I wanted to prove my hypothesis
correct, this would be the best way to prove my point.
Get your Pop bottle, and start measuring it.
It is much easier when you measure out your Pop bottle, so you know the exact and accurate
placements of wherever you decide to place your fins/cone.
Once you have measured out your Pop bottle, decide where you are going to wrap the masking tape
around.
For my sake, I decided to cover the center of the bottle with masking tape.

Effects Of Kidney Failure On Erectile Dysfunction
The effects of kidney failure on erectile dysfunction
Impotence is defined as male erectile dysfunction, that is, the inability to achieve or maintain an
erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance. (1)
Age, smoking and metabolic disorders are some of the major risk factors for ED. Kidney failure is a
medical condition in which the kidneys fail to adequately filter waste products from the blood (2) and
is also a risk factor for developing ED. ED s prevalence is estimated to be approximately 80% among
these patients. The etiology of ED in CKD patients is multifactorial. Abnormalities in gonadal

Comparative Value Of Survival Processing
The brain is a complex system, and humans are constantly exposed to different things and experiences
that need to be retained. But how does it choose which memories to retain and how does it retain in
the first place?
Adaptive Memory: The Comparative Value of Survival Processing (Nairne, Pandeirada, Thompson)
The human brain is often biased towards different subjects. The limbic system is the beginning of the
memorization process, and it allows for both memorization and learning. (Cretu, Simona Mariana,
2013) The first experiment was used to observe survival based processing by putting test subjects
through 5 different scenarios. (Nairne, J. S., Pandeirada, J. S., Thompson, S. R., 2008) The human
mind often retain things regarding survival. When put into a survival based scenario, things such as
food objects and objects needed to survive were much more retainable then personal experiences and
pleasantness. The survival scenario was where one must survive in a stranded grassland in a foreign
land. The test subjects were given a list of words, and was asked to rate the words by relevancy to the
situation on a scale of 1(totally irrelevant) to 5(extremely relevant). The second task was to rate the
pleasantness of each word based on the scale of 1 (totally unpleasant) to 5 (extremely pleasant). The
third task focused on imagery. The test subject was asked to rate a list of words based on the difficulty
of recalling mental images on a scale of 1(low imagery) to 5 (high

Treaty Of Guadalupe Hidalgo Essay
One of the most important documents in the history of the state of Texas is the Treaty of Guadalupe
Hidalgo, whose many functions included the termination of the Mexican American War, the
establishment of the Rio Grande as the official border between the state of Texas and the country of
Mexico, as well as granting rights to all Mexican citizens living in the state (Collier et al. 12).
However, it is essential to recognize how the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo established the core
identity of Texas an ethnically and culturally diverse state because of the functions explicitly outlined
in within its text, making it the marker of a major turning point in the history of the state (Collier et al.
12). Since its signing on February 2nd, 1848, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo remains in effect and

Several conflicts, including the Civil War, forced many Mexicans out of Texas due to xenophobic
attitudes towards them (Collier et al. 14). Despite these troubles, years of cultural assimilation and
population growth has led to Hispanics composing 38.6% of the state s population as of 2014,
according to the data presented by Collier et al., making Texas a majority minority state (28). This
term can be applied because Hispanics, being an ethnic minority, make up a large part of population of
the state, and have a large influence on politics and culture due to how ingrained they have become in
the history of Texas (Collier et al. 27). Overall, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo denotes a turning
point in the history of Texas because it represents the point at which the core aspects of the state were
defined, allowing for Texas to develop through the years into a modern, multicultural, and diverse
state (Collier et al.

Industry Description Of The Retailing Industry
Industry Description
Book retailing is an industry where companies sell books and other reading media, including, audio
books, e books and e readers. Some bookstores sell other products including DVDs, stationery and
gifts. Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWCS) world network reports sales of sixty billion globally,
including e books (Hoovers Inc, 2016). Most Book retailers operate from storefronts, although some
bookstores also operate online. Barnes Noble US, Fnac France, Page One China, Thalia Germany, and
WH Smith UK are prominent companies in this industry. (Hoovers Inc, 2016). According to Yee,
(n.d.). Dymocks is the largest bookstore chain in Australia; others include Collins Booksellers, Books
and Gifts and department stores such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the five year period until 2015 6, there was an annual decline in revenue of 10.6% (ibisworld,
2016). Numerous challenges have beset the industry, such as, lower book prices, strong competition
from online retailers and a change in popularity from printed books to e books (ibisworld, 2016).
Other issues that have a significant effect on bookstores are parallel import restrictions (IBISWorld,
2016), and online retailers being advantaged by low freight charges and often no requirement to pay
(GST) Goods and Services Tax (ABC, 2016).
Encouraging Signs
However, there are encouraging signs according to Williams, (2015) who points to the icon of
bookstores Dymocks, which claims to have had its best ever sales year. Sydney book retailer Jon Page
noted an upward surge in sales in the final quarter leading up to Christmas, a period that accounts for
around 70% of annual sales (Han, 2015). According to the Nielsen book scan data, there were 55.4
million in sales of printed books in Australia last year, a 2.2% increase over the previous year, the first
sales increase since 2009. (Han, 2015).
Some of the downturns in printed book sales may be as a result of economic conditions which have
affected all retailers. According to Page, (n.d.) the global financial crisis has dramatically changed
retailing regardless of your product (Han, 2015).The chief executive of the Australian Booksellers
Association, Joel Becker commented, the

In order to compare and contrast Claude Debussy s impressionist work from the 1800 s to 20th
Century impressionist music, one can analyse composer Carter Burwell s impressionist pieces.
Carter Burwell was born in New York City on November 18, 1955. He graduated from King School in
Stamford, Connecticut and then studied animation and at Harvard College. In 1977, Burwell
graduated from Harvard and became a teaching assistant in the Harvard Electronic Music Studio and a

Generally, the first and third sections (A) in ternary form are identically, however, it is common that
compared to the first section, the third section will contain further ornamentation. The second section
(B), tends to contrast dramatically with the first and third sections. Clair de Lune is also extended by a
coda which has been composed using material originating from the second section (B). The piece
mostly continues in the tonic, modulating only in bars 37 42. This means that the sections are
harmonically closed. The sections are as follows:
First section (A): Bar 1 26
Second Section (B): Bar 27 50
Third Section (A) + Coda: Bars 51 72
First Section Analysis:
Clair de Lune is in D flat major and begins with a tonic chord, excluding the tonic note. It is
introduced later on, where the median of the chord (F natural) is doubled. The right hand playing
chord I is supported by the left hand for the first four opening bars. This creates a chord a bar
harmonic rhythm. During these opening bars, the left hand slowly starts to descend while the diatonic
theme is played in the right hand. Debussy uses unconventional intervals, for example, G flat and A
(augmented second) in the first couple of bars. In bar 9, the introduction theme is repeated, this time
including some changes, such as harmonic substitutions and decorations. The F and A flat interval is
then reintroduced with ascending octaves. This phrase is then finished in bar 15,

Women s Rights Activist Analysis
Many women s rights activists have been at the forefront of confronting domestic violence and other
issues affecting women. Due to the government s suspicion of large scale protests and rallies, many
activists rely on creatively presenting their activism as art, which does not require as many people
participating in such demonstrations and arouses less attention by the government. China requires
many NGOs to work with official government organizations such as the All China Women s
Federation. However, realizing the need for a more grassroots approach rather than an imposed top
down approach, many activists take activism into their own hands. For example, Li Maizi and a group
of women wore white wedding gowns splattered with fake blood in Beijing

Jacqueline And Jacqueline Tyler
I was honestly really surprised with how Jacqueline and Tyler worked on these problems. Overall they
figured them out and were able to understand each concept. After working with the Del Ciotto family
for nearly six months now I have come to the conclusion that I am working with very intelligent, logic
thinkers. Overall I believe I am working with two formal operational students who can understand and
grasp the concept of conservation. Both student did very well and it was interesting to be the instructor
being able to help them solve these problems individually. For the conservation of liquid task both
Jacqueline Tyler had very similar answers. They both agreed that the cups of water are the exact same
however, Jacqueline said they looked to be the same height while Tyler said they just look alike.
Jacqueline did use her higher operational thinking to be able to recognize that they are the same
height. Tyler used his guessing skills to be able to notice that they are most likely the same. On the
second portion of the problem they both stated that the water amount does not change because you
change the cup ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was understandable to me because I believe conservation of displaced volume might be a lesson
that needs to have more background knowledge and higher thinking. While we worked through the
problem together Tyler and Jacqueline did understand that when something heavier than water is
placed inside it pushes it down as the water increases. When it came down to drawing a line I point
out that whenever the pictures above changed they still had the same amount why does it change
within the test tube. I also explained that the look of the weight does not change only the weight. They
were both convinced that it would increase or increase to the point of overflow. This portion of
conservation would need more teaching and educational hands on activities to

Analysis Of Harlem Renaissance Poetry
(A Comparative Analysis of Harlem Renaissance Poetry)
The great philosopher Plato once orated: Every heart sings a song, incomplete, until another heart
whispers back. PBS defines the the Harlem Renaissance a Cultural, social, and artistic explosion that
took place in Harlem between the end of World War I and the middle of the 1930s. During this period
Harlem was a cultural center, drawing black writers, artists, musicians, photographers, poets, and
scholars. Those who wish to sing always find a song. At the touch of a lover, everyone becomes a

The main observation readers could take from this poem is that the lower individual has to take care of
and pick up after the white man. It is even hinted at that the poems the mother chant rival the alleged
master of poetry s own works.
Colleen McElroy uses her poetry to describe her culture and heritage in a very historical manner.
McElroy s poetry is very different from Hughes and Clifton in the sense that she uses so many
references to her ancestors culture back in Africa. My memory floats down a long narrow hall, A
calabash of history. Grandpa stood high in Watusi shadows Where effigies of my ancestors are
captured in Beatle tunes, And crowns never touch Bantu heads. My past is a slender dancer reflected
briefly Like a leopard in fingers of fire. The future Dahomey is a house of 16 doors, the totem of
Burundi counts 17 warriors In reverse generations. While I cling to one stray Seminole. My thoughts
grow thin in the urge to travel beyond Grandma s tale. Of why cat fur id for kitten britches; Past the
wrought iron rail of first stairs In baby white shoes, To Ashanti mysteries and rituals. The use of
African language and the names of tribes paint a geographical image that readers can begin to follow.
Heritage is more than following the lineage of a people, the land in which they live is equally as
involved. This ethnic and topographical following of these people gives her Clifton s poetry the breath

The Romantic Period of Art was unlike any other period of art because of the level of emotion behind

and emotional for the audience. The one that I am going to focus on is The Raft of Medusa. The Raft
of Medusa is an oil painting from 1818 1819 by Theodore Gericult of France. This painting shows me
that Theodore was trying to show his viewers what it was like for a ship to rec and having the
passengers struggling to survive. The background of this story comes from a ship went down and the

The Historical Backgrounds Of Emi Essay
This section outlines the historical backgrounds of EMI in terms of a paradigm shift in teaching
content subjects through English language. This section provides information under three EMI
periods, namely before, during and after transitional EMI periods.
Before an EMI period, Content based Instruction (CBI) and Content and Language Integrated
Learning (CLIL) were the well known approaches to teach subject contents through a second or
foreign language (L2) in western countries. CBI is an approach to L2 teaching that focuses on target
language and content (Brinton, Snow, Wesche, 1989; Crandall Tucker, 1990). Swain and Johnson
(1997) pointed out that CBI is most often associated with the genesis of language immersion
education in North America in 1965. They also clarified that immersion is an innovation in language
education in Canada where French was used as a medium of instruction (MOI) for students whose
home language was Canadian English. CBI had a similar principle to immersion which L2 is a
medium of instruction. However, CBI showed a marked difference in characteristics when it had three
models of teaching (Brinton, Snow, Wesche, 1989; Davies, 2003). The first model was theme based
language , of which content and language specialists created learning topics based on students
preference. The second model was adjunct language in which language specialists linked language to
content lessons. The third one was sheltered content where content specialists

The Frente Sandinista De Liberación Nacional (Fsln), Or
The Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional (FSLN), or the Sandinista National Liberation Front,
came to power in Nicaragua in 1979 after ousting Anatasio Somoza and putting an end to his family s
thirty six year dictatorship. Prior to the revolution that lead to their rise in power, the Sandinista
National Liberation Front promised to implement several developmental policies that would raise the
living standards of their fellow citizens. I previously argued that development is both a natural and
man made phenomenon which aims to positively shape the lives of people via economic, cultural, and
educational reform. By this definition the policies carried out by the Sandinistas, which sought to

Nicaraguans also faced a life expectancy of fifty three years and routinely died from illnesses that
could have easily been treated and monitored. Half of the population was illiterate and thirty percent
of the nation s income went to five percent of the population whilst fifteen percent was spread across
fifty percent. These were just a few of the conditions which prompted the Sandinista s into action and
would eventually determine their political promises and platform. The developmental programs and
policies they enacted were directly in response to these facts and were meant to improve the lives of
their nation s poorest people. Prior to coming to power, the Sandinistas promised large scale agrarian
reform and land redistribution. Agrarian reform as a national development project was meant to raise
the living standards of landless peasant farmers and provide them with the opportunity to cultivate
food for consumption and sale. The rural bourgeoisie owned around eighty five percent of the nation s
farmland and comprised just five percent of the agricultural economically active population (EAP).
Peasant farmers, on the other hand, made up fifty eight percent of the agricultural EAP and owned the
remaining fifteen percent of the land. Landless laborers, the main group for whom the Sandinistas had
promised reform, made up the remaining thirty seven percent of the agriculturally active population.

Socrates Is A Good Person
In an effort to spread the word of Socrates to a larger audience, Plato often wrote down the discussions
he held in the form of dialogues. In these dialogues, Socrates continuously makes an effort to define
that which is not easily defined and addresses questions in which the solution is not always straight
forward. Reading through Plato s dialogues, such as, Euthyphro, Crito and The Apology, readers can
ponder the claims Socrates makes and receive a particular insight into his point of view. It is known
that Socrates is sentenced to death after being charged with corrupting the youth and denying the
existence of the gods, as he presents his defense in The Apology. However, the debate as to whether or
not Socrates is a good person is left up to interpretation as he never clearly states that he believes
himself to be one. Nevertheless, his actions reflect that he is indeed a good person because of his
constant pursuit of the complete truth in all matters, his lifestyle choices and unconcern for material
objects and lastly his lack of fear in the certain face of death. In Plato s Euthyphro, Socrates innate
need to reach a certain undisputed truth or the most accurate truth is abundantly clear. In this dialogue,
Socrates is summoned to court by Meletus on charges of impurity while Euthyphro must prosecute his
own father who is charged with murdering a hired hand. However, the dialogue is quickly veered
toward uncovering the complete definition of piety , as Socrates

Gender Roles And Gender Development
Gender and sex are not synonymous, although they are often used interchangeably. Sex is a biological
term and defined as the categories of male or female of the sum total of biological attributes on which
this distinction is based within a species (Colman, 2009). Gender, however is a social construct and
consists of gender role, gender identity and sexual orientation / preference. Gender identity is a sense
of awareness, usually beginning in infancy, continuing through childhood, and reaching maturing in
adolescence, of being male or female, or of the gender associated with one s biological sex . Gender
role is defined as a set of behaviour patterns, attitudes, and personality characteristics stereotypically
perceived as masculine or feminine within a culture (Colman, 2009). Understanding gender
development is important because the perception of gender identity affects the roles individuals play
in society. If the reason behind the gender differences can be understood, they can be minimised to
develop a more gender equal society. Also, research into gender development has real world
applications. In many aspects of psychological research, gender differences can affect results. This can
be reduced through gender equality. This essay will focus on the development of gender identity and
the role nature and nurture play in it; specifically the role of genetics and cognitive gender
development / social learning theory.
The nature nurture debate is one of the oldest issues in

Pablo s style, and how poor he was. Drake and Josh had good bmx bikes, while Pablo only had a

Similarities Between The Gift And The Giver
The two tales focus on gratitude. The two tales are about the importance of giving to others and
showing appreciation for the gifts received.
The tale entitled The Gift And The Giver is based on giving a gift to others with nothing in return. In
this tale, there is a farmer that grows an apple with perfect color, shape, and shine. The farmer decides
to give this precious apple to the king. In the text, it states, that the king was surprised by the feeling
he got when he heard that the farmer didn t want anything in return. But there was a rich merchant that
wanted a gift from the king, so he offered the king his best horse. Then the king gave the merchant the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Open Range Vs Factory Farming
Factory or Open Range Most people thinks of a farms as a place where people shove as many different
kind of livestock in a small area to make the most for the space they ve. This isn t true in most cases of
farming, and for the few factories that process to run this way makes the other farms that produces a
large amount of livestock looks as if they are using the same technicians. Factory farming and open
range farming are two completely different ways of growing and rising livestock. I have raised
livestock for 7 years now as well learned everything I know about livestock from a family who have
been farming for 6 generations. Factory farms have larger numbers in smaller space when open range
is more space per animal two different ways of raising animals yet, neither of these technically wrong
way of producing. Reputations have always caused ways of life to look worse then what really
happens. To be a factory farm is when you have a vast amount of certain type of livestock in a space
that is smaller but, not necessarily in a confine space were nothing could move. Using pigs as
examples a factory farm would use the rule of thumb of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For livestock the more room an animal has to graze longer it takes to add weight on to it. For example

makes a leaner, healthier hog, the consumers comely believe their isn t enough flavor in the meat
without the fat balance. The other struggle is that if the farm has the same amount of space as the
farmer who farms factory style they will have less product due to more space per head. From pluses to
negatives of farming more open range style there is more of a preference on the way someone believes

Analysis of On the Waterfront Essay
On the Waterfront is a classic, award winning and controversial film. It received eight academy
awards in 1954, including best picture and director. The director, Eliza Kazan, in collaboration with
Budd Schulberg wrote the film s screenplay. Based on actual dockside events in Hoboken, New
Jersey, On the Waterfront is a story of a dock worker who tried to overthrow a corrupt union. Marlon
Brando superbly portrays the character of Terry Malloy. He is a young ex prize fighter, now a dock
worker given easy jobs because his brother is the right hand man of the corrupt union boss Johnny
Friendly. After Terry unwittingly allows himself to be used in setting up a man s death, he starts to
question the basic assumptions if his life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since Kazan believed that communism was an evil threat to the American way of life, he tried to
portray his decision to testify as a heroic act of valor. He wanted to show the public that a person who
testifies is brave, not a coward. Throughout the film there are a number of references to the code of
silence, D n D , or Deaf and Dumb. This means that no matter how wretched the circumstances are, a
person never rats. The union thugs make a joke about the boy pushed off a building because he
threatened to talk to the crime commission, thus breaking the sacred code of D n D: A canary. Maybe
he could sing but he couldn t fly.
Kazan has one character, in particular, stress the importance of speaking out in life. Father Barry
believes that the truth will always set a person free. He says; There s one thing we ve got in this
country and that s ways of fightin back. Gettin facts to the public. Testifying for what you know is
right and what you know is wrong. What s rattin to them is telling the truth for you. Can t you see
that? Can t you see that?
This quotation is an example of Kazan crying out to the public for forgiveness. Later in the film,
Kazan tries even harder to gain acceptance, as there is an obvious parallel between his own testimony
and Terry Malloy s.
In the courtroom scene, Terry Malloy turns stoolie and betrays Friendly throughout his

Healthy yogurt brands do exist, but the flavored variety are typically best avoided. Not only do many

The Great, By Richard Bausch
Happily Never After
The universe doesn t owe you, me, or anyone a thing, except for death. Though as kids most of us
were led to believe that with enough effort and hard work were going to become whatever we wanted
to be, we were going to have whatever our little hearts desired, and we were going to do whatever we
wanted to do. However, as we grew up we realized that this is not the case. There are millions of
people who did not become professional athletes, models, or billionaires, people who never got to
have the mansions, cars, and fame that they always longed for, people who never got to travel the
world, cure cancer, or fly into space. These are all mostly childlike dreams, which were probably
imposed unto us by either our parents or society. There s nothing wrong with children having these
sort of improbable dreams, however, there comes a time where we can no longer be children. In the
story Tandolfo the Great, written by Richard Bausch, we are introduced to Rodney Wilbury aka
Tandolfo the Great, who is a suitable example to demonstrate what life can be like for those who are
unable to grow out of their childlike mind sets. In this analysis I will be inspecting how Tandolfo the
Great s childish mind set, from his strong sense of entitlement to his inability to let go of the past
events, has almost destroyed his life and how it can destroy anyone else s.

OPTICAL FIBER BASICS:
Optical fiber consists of three parts named the core, he cladding and the coating or buffer. The basic
structure is shown in figure 1. The center is a round and hollow pole of dielectric material and is made
of glass. Light will proliferate through center of the fiber. The cladding is made of dielectric material
with a file of refraction and is made of glass or plastic. The file of refraction of the cladding material is
short of what that of the center material. The covering or cushion is a layer of material used to secure
an optical fiber from physical harm and is made of plastic. The covering is versatile and averts scraped
spots.
Fig 1 Basic structure of optical fiber
Optical strands are partitioned into two gatherings named as single mode and multimode. For
arrangement of list of refraction, we separate between step record and inclination file. Step record
strands have a consistent list profile over the entire cross segment. Slope file filaments have a
nonlinear, rotationally symmetric record profile, which tumbles off from the focal point of the fiber

Purpose
The purpose of this report is to explore new strategies that have emerged resulting from companies

Background and Significance
The World Wide Web was invented in 1989 by Tim Berners Lee ( World Wide Web, 2006, Para. 1). He

2). There are many different ways to catch and pull in the clientele that a company is searching for, but
before choosing what type of internet marketing approach is best for the company s money, the
marketing team must know some basic steps. They should start off by finding a target market and look
into regional ad buys, also they ought to research discounts that internet sources are offering (
Advertising isn t cheap, n.d., para.1 4).
One good way to start is by advertising on large search engines such as Yahoo, Google, and Web
Crawler. This is called paid keyword search and contextual adverting, but much larger known as SEM
which is the abbreviation for Search Engine Marketing. This is an ideal way for the small businessman
or business owner to get the most bang out of his or hers buck. A business owner can buy little ads that
come up when one searches a related topic to their product. For instance, a company is specializing in
manufacturing windows and siding. If a person is looking to replace their windows or siding and is
searching a search engine to figure out how to go about doing it, when that person enters the keyword
siding a little ad for that company specializing in that product or service is going to come up. SEM
adverting is a fast growing way to advertise. It is so fast that

The Rhetorical Analysis Of Martin Luther King Jr.
On April 3rd, 1968 in Memphis,Tennessee at the Mason Temple many protesters came together to
hear Martin Luther King Jr s speech. His purpose was to get his point across, blacks should have their
freedom like any other white man or woman. Martin Luther King Jr. went on to say how happy he is
to be living in this time period, able to see the period of life unfold. His purpose was to raise
awareness that, something is happening in the world, things are going to start changing. Martin Luther
King Jr s use of ethos and pathos is successful in showing that the world is changing in many ways.
Most of all he uses logos or logic very well, giving us the info on how, people are starting to rise up in
masses and make small cities bigger like New York City, Atlanta, Georgia and many other cities.
Early in the speech Martin Luther King Jr demonstrates logos. He clearly states, many logical
examples,he starts by imaging himself in different centuries going back to different areas like Mount
Olympus, where he would see Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, Euripides and Aristophanes where he would
watch them gather around to discuss real issues. First he went on to say that he would go to the Roman
Empire to see the development of leaders and emperors. Second he d go on to the Renaissance to see
the what this time period did for the cultural and aesthetic life of man. Then would go on to see the
men tack on the ninety five theses onto the church of Wittenberg. But then he wouldn t stop there, he
would go on to 1863 to see President Abraham Lincoln to sign the Emancipation Proclamation. He
said lastly he would go on to see the early thirties to see a man grappling on bankruptcy. As he goes on
he uses the quote we have nothing to fear but fear itself . He uses logos really well on a showing that
the nation is sick and trouble is in the land and confusion all around. He quotes But I know, somehow,
that only when it is dark enough can you see the stars. And I see God working in this period of the
twentieth century in a way that men, in some . strange way, are responding. which takes him back to
saying that the world is changing in every which way. Later in the speech he strongly demonstrates
pathos. He explains how men have been

The Best Practice Of Formal Structure
The best practice of formal structure is characterized by the establishment of a policy and procedures
manual and the use of a variety of school and community settings for activities (DuBois et al., 2002).
This manual should outline all aspects of hiring, training, and retaining staff in order to aid in
clarification of expectations and establish protocols that lead to fidelity of implementation When
recruiting a mentor, the organization should adhere to the best practice of developing clear
expectations, even if there is no pay involved. These expectations include a job description and
interview protocols that address the specific competencies required for the position (Keller, 2006).
Although not essential to successful mentoring, prior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, a regular assessment to identify barriers that can limit staff success also is beneficial
(Keller, 2006). Mentor Best Practices Positive outcomes occur when the mentor mentee relationship
lasts for 1 year or longer and when the mentor understands what approaches, practices, and attitudes
work (Grossman Rhodes, 2002; Rhodes, 2008). Best practices can serve to increase the rate of success
in formal mentoring programs and can reduce negative impacts, such as early relationship termination.
Regardless of the reason for termination, it can be perceived by the mentee as intentional rejection
(Downey Feldman, 1996; Downey, Lebolt, Rincorn, Freitas, 1998; DuBois et al., 2002; Grossman
Rhodes, 2002) and can lead to negative self perception and lowered academic performance. The
literature identifies six best practices for individual mentors: (a) training, (b) commitment to the
relationship, (c) respect for the mentee s background, (d) respect for the individual, (e) mutual
activities, and (f) use of support (see Figure 1). Each of these is discussed below. Although those in
helping professions (e.g., teachers, counselors) who have received formal training have greater
predictive success as mentors, training and support provided to lay persons can produce similar results
(DuBois et al., 2002). Mentors should avail themselves of

The, The And, And The New York Times And Tehran
Thematization is considered the mental act or process of selecting particular topics as themes in
discourse or words as themes in sentences. This paper examines thematization strategies in English
opinion articles written by American and Iranian journalists. To this end, two of the leading
newspapers in the United States and Iran, The New York Times and Tehran Times, have been chosen.
Based on the qualitative and quantitative analysis of textual features and marked and unmarked
themes of 12 opinion articles (6 from each newspaper), this study aims to find out how these two
groups of professional writers organize their themes, into marked and unmarked ones and what effects
these organizations have on the audiences. The findings revealed that textual features were present in
both sets of data. The occurrences of marked and unmarked themes were not significantly different.
The findings revealed that thematization patterns can help the understanding of the texts. The results
also showed that marked themes have an impact on the audiences. The results were relatively the same
in the original texts and their translations.

Perceptions And Perceptions Of Consumer Behavior Essay
In attitude behaviour relationships, the Theory of Reasoned Action states that consumer behaviours
are constructed by their attitudes, and the attitude itself is the result of the consumers perception
(Fishbein Ajzen, 1975). With regards to greenwashing, research has found that this attitude behaviour
relationship could manipulate the perception of consumer (see table 2 for perceptions and
explanations), for instance, perceived deception (Newell et al., 1998), perceived scepticism (Albayrak
et al., 2011), perceived inconsistency (Gallicano, 2011), perceived distrust, and/or perceived risk
(Chen Chang, 2013). Consumers motivations for purchasing green products differ and may even be
contradictory (Cleveland, Kalamas, Laroche, 2005). However, to some degree, the motivations are
thought to influence consumer purchasing behaviour and perception (Albayrak et al., 2011).
If the consumer s negative perceptions of falsely claimed green products are correlated, it corresponds
to Oliver s (1980) Expectancy Disconfirmation Theory, as well as Fishbein s Multi attribute Model
which also employs three components of attitude. Firstly, in Fishbein s Multi attribute Model are
salient beliefs , referencing the opinions an individual may acquire during the evaluation of goods or
services. Second, are object attribute linkages , these are a gauge of the possibility of significance
toward a specific attribute that is related to the object in question. The third component is

Characterisation In Away By GowAway By Gow
With the will to search for new experiences and fresh perceptions of the world we live in, creates the
ability for individuals to overcome confronting challenges and provide gains through the journey of
personal realization, new ideas and acceptance of ourselves and who we truly are. This is represented
through the play Away composed by Gow that addresses the contextual era of 1967 where the after
effects of the great depression and the WW2 was huge and where a high influx of migrants settled
Australia. furthermore, these themes are exploited through William Shakespeare s pastoral romance,
the tempest through the involvement of characters who undergo a fortuitous discovery of self.
Through newfound discoveries and contemporary ways of thinking, beliefs and identity have been
altered and transformed. In Away , Gow s characterisation of tom and Coral exploit deep personal
realisations. For Tom going away on holiday allows for him to make sense of what is happening and
reflect on life, his realisation is not on the issue of dying the realisation is on living, and this
realisation is made through watching people in his lives and how they waste time and he starts to
change his belief that, in fact, it might not be a curse but a privilege as he has meaning in his life and a
purpose to live. Corals self realization is composed through the introduction of new characters she can

Vietnam War Point Of View
Despite popular belief, Vietnam has been the battleground for only a limited number of military
conflicts in history. The country fell under the rule of China and France at early points in its history
before claiming its full independence in 1945. Many Americans still view Vietnam from the Vietnam
War point of view because it ended in a United States defeat. Since that war almost 40 years ago,
Vietnam s leadership has had a plan in place to rebuild the country s infrastructure and solidify its
place in the world. Today, Vietnam continues to thrive economically by taking advantage of its natural
resources and location despite being the home to one of the last single party Socialist governments in
the world. Vietnam is a long winding section of land on the eastern side of the Indochinese peninsula.
Including its island area, it has just over 128,000 miles of land, or slightly more space than the state of
New Mexico. Vietnam has three borders countries: China (to the north), Laos (to the central west) and
Cambodia (to the southwest). On a map, the country looks like an elongated S just over 1,000 miles in
length and only 31 miles in width at its maximum. Three main bodies of water also border Vietnam.

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Federal Budgets
The Balancing of State Federal Budgets
The purpose of this paper is to analyze and determine the pros and cons of a balanced vs unbalanced
financial system by comparing the nature of state budgets to the federal budget. States and local
governments operate within the parameters of a balanced annual budget where their total expenditures
equal their total revenues generated; however, a surplus can occur when their revenues exceed their
expenditures as well as a fiscal deficit when their expenditures exceed their revenues. When state or
local governments experience a fiscal deficit due to hardship like a natural disaster, they can petition
the federal government for funding in order to reconcile their budgets. However, the federal
government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the federal government has an artificially designated borrowing threshold beyond which
the government is not authorized to borrow funds in order to manage over spending that is
contributing to the fiscal deficit and this threshold is referred to as the national debt ceiling (Ross,
2015). The federal government has the ability to raise its own debt ceiling if needed with the approval
of congress. This practice is largely in place because the federal government has the authority to print
money and issue currency in order to help regulate the economy whereas this is out of state and local
government s jurisdiction of fiscal power. When the federal government is approaching its debit
ceiling, it will then borrow money in the form of treasury bonds in order to help balance the deficit

Police Foils The police are often characterized as foils when compared to detectives due to their analytical thinking that requires logical reasonings in order to solve a mystery, and a lack of creative thinking that detectives use to place themselves in the mind of the criminal. As well, detectives will often solve a mystery that otherwise discombobulates the police. In Edgar Allan Poe s The Murders in the Rue Morgue and The Purloined Letter, It is evident that the inability for the police to solve a case efficiently through their lack of creative thinking and a scarcity of analytical thinking highlights Dupin s superiority in solving crimes more effectively than the police. In The Purloined Letter, the Police effectively use clues to find the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the gruesome nature of the crime scene, the Police overlook things and do not analyze every possible idea, which includes not placing themselves in the psyche of the criminal.Their unskilled methods are what cause the Police to be inconsistent with either being too detailed in their search, or not detailed enough. Unlike Dupin, the Police do not have a particular method and he suggests that the skill of the analyst is evinced. He makes, in silence, a host of observations and inferences (Poe 67). The inconsistency of the Police search and the lack of logical reasoning and creative thinking does not allow them to make a conclusion in the case. Dupin steps in to play the role of the Police, using logical reasoning to search the crime scene, and the detective by using creative thinking to come to a conclusion. It is evident that the Police are inconsistent when they are not detailed in their search which highlights Dupin s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Literary Criticism In Literature The concept of language is integral to the survival and development of human advancement. It formulates the structures and concepts by which civilizations abide by. The sensibilities and thinking processes of people are all connected with this type of oral communication. Due to this, much of the vocabulary is often built up to be as straightforward as possible. Not only that, but frequent pieces of dialogue that are used to describe certain subjects and concepts have a high probability of being cataloged for future reference. The memorized bits and pieces are then repeated, learned, and accepted. As such, the realms of literature are definitively seen as the culmination of language within a particular group or culture. While this communication between individuals seems like a perfect solution for a majority of the population, that is not always the case. Sometimes, the delivery of commonly acknowledged vocabulary gives said vocabulary a different impact or meaning. In order to fully comprehend the shift in the usage of words and phrases, one must meticulously pick them apart while also exploring any possibilities that can be linked to them. This practice is known as deconstructive criticism. This form of literary criticism, as Lois Tyson describes in her book Critical Theory Today: A User Friendly Guide, became a major influence on literary studies during the late 1970s due to its specialization in revealing the hidden messages and unconscious ideologies that litter ... If the rockets with the smaller masses went significant amounts farther than the rocket s with a much larger mass, that would validate my hypothesis correct. PROCEDURES In the steps provided below, are the methods I used to create my rocket. However, the methods listed may or may not apply to you. Please be aware. THE BODY: Materials needed: A 2L Pop bottle, a black marker, paint, a ruler, and a roll of masking tape. You can also use Duct tape instead of masking tape if you prefer. Both works equally. For the body of my rocket, I decided to cover it with masking tape. If I wanted to prove my hypothesis correct, this would be the best way to prove my point. Get your Pop bottle, and start measuring it. It is much easier when you measure out your Pop bottle, so you know the exact and accurate placements of wherever you decide to place your fins/cone. Once you have measured out your Pop bottle, decide where you are going to wrap the masking tape around. For my sake, I decided to cover the center of the bottle with masking tape. ... • 6. Comparative Value Of Survival Processing The brain is a complex system, and humans are constantly exposed to different things and experiences that need to be retained. But how does it choose which memories to retain and how does it retain in the first place? Adaptive Memory: The Comparative Value of Survival Processing (Nairne, Pandeirada, Thompson) The human brain is often biased towards different subjects. The limbic system is the beginning of the memorization process, and it allows for both memorization and learning. (Cretu, Simona Mariana, 2013) The first experiment was used to observe survival based processing by putting test subjects through 5 different scenarios. (Nairne, J. S., Pandeirada, J. S., Thompson, S. R., 2008) The human mind often retain things regarding survival. When put into a survival based scenario, things such as food objects and objects needed to survive were much more retainable then personal experiences and pleasantness. The survival scenario was where one must survive in a stranded grassland in a foreign land. The test subjects were given a list of words, and was asked to rate the words by relevancy to the situation on a scale of 1(totally irrelevant) to 5(extremely relevant). The second task was to rate the pleasantness of each word based on the scale of 1 (totally unpleasant) to 5 (extremely pleasant). The third task focused on imagery. The test subject was asked to rate a list of words based on the difficulty of recalling mental images on a scale of 1(low imagery) to 5 (high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Treaty Of Guadalupe Hidalgo Essay One of the most important documents in the history of the state of Texas is the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, whose many functions included the termination of the Mexican American War, the establishment of the Rio Grande as the official border between the state of Texas and the country of Mexico, as well as granting rights to all Mexican citizens living in the state (Collier et al. 12). However, it is essential to recognize how the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo established the core identity of Texas an ethnically and culturally diverse state because of the functions explicitly outlined in within its text, making it the marker of a major turning point in the history of the state (Collier et al. 12). Since its signing on February 2nd, 1848, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo remains in effect and contains several articles which are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several conflicts, including the Civil War, forced many Mexicans out of Texas due to xenophobic attitudes towards them (Collier et al. 14). Despite these troubles, years of cultural assimilation and population growth has led to Hispanics composing 38.6% of the state s population as of 2014, according to the data presented by Collier et al., making Texas a majority minority state (28). This term can be applied because Hispanics, being an ethnic minority, make up a large part of population of the state, and have a large influence on politics and culture due to how ingrained they have become in the history of Texas (Collier et al. 27). Overall, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo denotes a turning point in the history of Texas because it represents the point at which the core aspects of the state were defined, allowing for Texas to develop through the years into a modern, multicultural, and diverse state (Collier et al. ... Generally, the first and third sections (A) in ternary form are identically, however, it is common that compared to the first section, the third section will contain further ornamentation. The second section (B), tends to contrast dramatically with the first and third sections. Clair de Lune is also extended by a coda which has been composed using material originating from the second section (B). The piece mostly continues in the tonic, modulating only in bars 37 42. This means that the sections are harmonically closed. The sections are as follows: First section (A): Bar 1 26 Second Section (B): Bar 27 50 Third Section (A) + Coda: Bars 51 72 First Section Analysis: Clair de Lune is in D flat major and begins with a tonic chord, excluding the tonic note. It is introduced later on, where the median of the chord (F natural) is doubled. The right hand playing chord I is supported by the left hand for the first four opening bars. This creates a chord a bar harmonic rhythm. During these opening bars, the left hand slowly starts to descend while the diatonic theme is played in the right hand. Debussy uses unconventional intervals, for example, G flat and A (augmented second) in the first couple of bars. This section provides information under three EMI periods, namely before, during and after transitional EMI periods. Before an EMI period, Content based Instruction (CBI) and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) were the well known approaches to teach subject contents through a second or foreign language (L2) in western countries. CBI is an approach to L2 teaching that focuses on target language and content (Brinton, Snow, Wesche, 1989; Crandall Tucker, 1990). Swain and Johnson (1997) pointed out that CBI is most often associated with the genesis of language immersion education in North America in 1965. They also clarified that immersion is an innovation in language education in Canada where French was used as a medium of instruction (MOI) for students whose home language was Canadian English. CBI had a similar principle to immersion which L2 is a medium of instruction. However, CBI showed a marked difference in characteristics when it had three models of teaching (Brinton, Snow, Wesche, 1989; Davies, 2003). The first model was theme based language , of which content and language specialists created learning topics based on students preference. The second model was adjunct language in which language specialists linked language to content lessons. The third one was sheltered content where content specialists ... • 20. Socrates Is A Good Person In an effort to spread the word of Socrates to a larger audience, Plato often wrote down the discussions he held in the form of dialogues. In these dialogues, Socrates continuously makes an effort to define that which is not easily defined and addresses questions in which the solution is not always straight forward. Reading through Plato s dialogues, such as, Euthyphro, Crito and The Apology, readers can ponder the claims Socrates makes and receive a particular insight into his point of view. It is known that Socrates is sentenced to death after being charged with corrupting the youth and denying the existence of the gods, as he presents his defense in The Apology. However, the debate as to whether or not Socrates is a good person is left up to interpretation as he never clearly states that he believes himself to be one. Nevertheless, his actions reflect that he is indeed a good person because of his constant pursuit of the complete truth in all matters, his lifestyle choices and unconcern for material objects and lastly his lack of fear in the certain face of death. In Plato s Euthyphro, Socrates innate need to reach a certain undisputed truth or the most accurate truth is abundantly clear. Sex is a biological term and defined as the categories of male or female of the sum total of biological attributes on which this distinction is based within a species (Colman, 2009). Gender, however is a social construct and consists of gender role, gender identity and sexual orientation / preference. Gender identity is a sense of awareness, usually beginning in infancy, continuing through childhood, and reaching maturing in adolescence, of being male or female, or of the gender associated with one s biological sex . Gender role is defined as a set of behaviour patterns, attitudes, and personality characteristics stereotypically perceived as masculine or feminine within a culture (Colman, 2009). Understanding gender development is important because the perception of gender identity affects the roles individuals play in society. If the reason behind the gender differences can be understood, they can be minimised to develop a more gender equal society. Also, research into gender development has real world applications. In many aspects of psychological research, gender differences can affect results. This can be reduced through gender equality. Not only do many companies use artificial colors to make these yogurts looking fruitier, but they are also loaded with sugar and carbohydrates. • 28. The Great, By Richard Bausch Happily Never After The universe doesn t owe you, me, or anyone a thing, except for death. Though as kids most of us were led to believe that with enough effort and hard work were going to become whatever we wanted to be, we were going to have whatever our little hearts desired, and we were going to do whatever we wanted to do. However, as we grew up we realized that this is not the case. There are millions of people who did not become professional athletes, models, or billionaires, people who never got to have the mansions, cars, and fame that they always longed for, people who never got to travel the world, cure cancer, or fly into space. These are all mostly childlike dreams, which were probably imposed unto us by either our parents or society. There s nothing wrong with children having these sort of improbable dreams, however, there comes a time where we can no longer be children. In the story Tandolfo the Great, written by Richard Bausch, we are introduced to Rodney Wilbury aka Tandolfo the Great, who is a suitable example to demonstrate what life can be like for those who are unable to grow out of their childlike mind sets. In this analysis I will be inspecting how Tandolfo the Great s childish mind set, from his strong sense of entitlement to his inability to let go of the past events, has almost destroyed his life and how it can destroy anyone else s. Tandolfo the Great is a twenty six year old man, who is a part time clown that has fallen in love with a co worker, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A considerable lot of the parts connected with these sorts of businesses were created for fiber optic sensor applications. Fiber optic sensors are great for checking natural changes and they have numerous favorable circumstances. OPTICAL FIBER BASICS: Optical fiber consists of three parts named the core, he cladding and the coating or buffer. The basic structure is shown in figure 1. The center is a round and hollow pole of dielectric material and is made of glass. Light will proliferate through center of the fiber. The cladding is made of dielectric material with a file of refraction and is made of glass or plastic. The file of refraction of the cladding material is short of what that of the center material. The covering or cushion is a layer of material used to secure an optical fiber from physical harm and is made of plastic. The covering is versatile and averts scraped spots. Fig 1 Basic structure of optical fiber Optical strands are partitioned into two gatherings named as single mode and multimode. For arrangement of list of refraction, we separate between step record and inclination file. Step record strands have a consistent list profile over the entire cross segment. Slope file filaments have a nonlinear, rotationally symmetric record profile, which tumbles off from the focal point of the fiber ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many different ways to catch and pull in the clientele that a company is searching for, but before choosing what type of internet marketing approach is best for the company s money, the marketing team must know some basic steps. They should start off by finding a target market and look into regional ad buys, also they ought to research discounts that internet sources are offering ( Advertising isn t cheap, n.d., para.1 4). One good way to start is by advertising on large search engines such as Yahoo, Google, and Web Crawler. This is called paid keyword search and contextual adverting, but much larger known as SEM which is the abbreviation for Search Engine Marketing. This is an ideal way for the small businessman or business owner to get the most bang out of his or hers buck. A business owner can buy little ads that come up when one searches a related topic to their product. For instance, a company is specializing in manufacturing windows and siding. If a person is looking to replace their windows or siding and is searching a search engine to figure out how to go about doing it, when that person enters the keyword siding a little ad for that company specializing in that product or service is going to come up. • 32. The Rhetorical Analysis Of Martin Luther King Jr. On April 3rd, 1968 in Memphis,Tennessee at the Mason Temple many protesters came together to hear Martin Luther King Jr s speech. His purpose was to get his point across, blacks should have their freedom like any other white man or woman. Martin Luther King Jr. went on to say how happy he is to be living in this time period, able to see the period of life unfold. His purpose was to raise awareness that, something is happening in the world, things are going to start changing. Martin Luther King Jr s use of ethos and pathos is successful in showing that the world is changing in many ways. Most of all he uses logos or logic very well, giving us the info on how, people are starting to rise up in masses and make small cities bigger like New York City, Atlanta, Georgia and many other cities. Early in the speech Martin Luther King Jr demonstrates logos. He clearly states, many logical examples,he starts by imaging himself in different centuries going back to different areas like Mount Olympus, where he would see Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, Euripides and Aristophanes where he would watch them gather around to discuss real issues. First he went on to say that he would go to the Roman Empire to see the development of leaders and emperors. Second he d go on to the Renaissance to see the what this time period did for the cultural and aesthetic life of man. Then would go on to see the men tack on the ninety five theses onto the church of Wittenberg. But then he wouldn t stop there, he would go on to 1863 to see President Abraham Lincoln to sign the Emancipation Proclamation. He said lastly he would go on to see the early thirties to see a man grappling on bankruptcy. As he goes on he uses the quote we have nothing to fear but fear itself . He uses logos really well on a showing that the nation is sick and trouble is in the land and confusion all around. He quotes But I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough can you see the stars. And I see God working in this period of the twentieth century in a way that men, in some . strange way, are responding. which takes him back to saying that the world is changing in every which way. The Best Practice Of Formal Structure The best practice of formal structure is characterized by the establishment of a policy and procedures manual and the use of a variety of school and community settings for activities (DuBois et al., 2002). This manual should outline all aspects of hiring, training, and retaining staff in order to aid in clarification of expectations and establish protocols that lead to fidelity of implementation When recruiting a mentor, the organization should adhere to the best practice of developing clear expectations, even if there is no pay involved. These expectations include a job description and interview protocols that address the specific competencies required for the position (Keller, 2006). In addition, a regular assessment to identify barriers that can limit staff success also is beneficial (Keller, 2006). Mentor Best Practices Positive outcomes occur when the mentor mentee relationship lasts for 1 year or longer and when the mentor understands what approaches, practices, and attitudes work (Grossman Rhodes, 2002; Rhodes, 2008). Best practices can serve to increase the rate of success in formal mentoring programs and can reduce negative impacts, such as early relationship termination. Regardless of the reason for termination, it can be perceived by the mentee as intentional rejection (Downey Feldman, 1996; Downey, Lebolt, Rincorn, Freitas, 1998; DuBois et al., 2002; Grossman Rhodes, 2002) and can lead to negative self perception and lowered academic performance. The literature identifies six best practices for individual mentors: (a) training, (b) commitment to the relationship, (c) respect for the mentee s background, (d) respect for the individual, (e) mutual activities, and (f) use of support (see Figure 1). Each of these is discussed below. Although those in helping professions (e.g., teachers, counselors) who have received formal training have greater predictive success as mentors, training and support provided to lay persons can produce similar results (DuBois et al., 2002). This paper examines thematization strategies in English opinion articles written by American and Iranian journalists. To this end, two of the leading newspapers in the United States and Iran, The New York Times and Tehran Times, have been chosen. Based on the qualitative and quantitative analysis of textual features and marked and unmarked themes of 12 opinion articles (6 from each newspaper), this study aims to find out how these two groups of professional writers organize their themes, into marked and unmarked ones and what effects these organizations have on the audiences. The findings revealed that textual features were present in both sets of data. The occurrences of marked and unmarked themes were not significantly different. The findings revealed that thematization patterns can help the understanding of the texts. The results also showed that marked themes have an impact on the audiences. The results were relatively the same in the original texts and their translations. Keywords: Thematization Patterns; Marked Theme; Unmarked Theme; Theme and Rheme; Systemic Functional Grammar. 1. • 37. Perceptions And Perceptions Of Consumer Behavior Essay In attitude behaviour relationships, the Theory of Reasoned Action states that consumer behaviours are constructed by their attitudes, and the attitude itself is the result of the consumers perception (Fishbein Ajzen, 1975). With regards to greenwashing, research has found that this attitude behaviour relationship could manipulate the perception of consumer (see table 2 for perceptions and explanations), for instance, perceived deception (Newell et al., 1998), perceived scepticism (Albayrak et al., 2011), perceived inconsistency (Gallicano, 2011), perceived distrust, and/or perceived risk (Chen Chang, 2013). Consumers motivations for purchasing green products differ and may even be contradictory (Cleveland, Kalamas, Laroche, 2005). However, to some degree, the motivations are thought to influence consumer purchasing behaviour and perception (Albayrak et al., 2011). If the consumer s negative perceptions of falsely claimed green products are correlated, it corresponds to Oliver s (1980) Expectancy Disconfirmation Theory, as well as Fishbein s Multi attribute Model which also employs three components of attitude. Firstly, in Fishbein s Multi attribute Model are salient beliefs , referencing the opinions an individual may acquire during the evaluation of goods or services. Second, are object attribute linkages , these are a gauge of the possibility of significance toward a specific attribute that is related to the object in question. The third component is ... Characterisation In Away By GowAway By Gow With the will to search for new experiences and fresh perceptions of the world we live in, creates the ability for individuals to overcome confronting challenges and provide gains through the journey of personal realization, new ideas and acceptance of ourselves and who we truly are. This is represented through the play Away composed by Gow that addresses the contextual era of 1967 where the after effects of the great depression and the WW2 was huge and where a high influx of migrants settled Australia. furthermore, these themes are exploited through William Shakespeare s pastoral romance, the tempest through the involvement of characters who undergo a fortuitous discovery of self. Through newfound discoveries and contemporary ways of thinking, beliefs and identity have been altered and transformed. In Away , Gow s characterisation of tom and Coral exploit deep personal realisations. For Tom going away on holiday allows for him to make sense of what is happening and reflect on life, his realisation is not on the issue of dying the realisation is on living, and this realisation is made through watching people in his lives and how they waste time and he starts to change his belief that, in fact, it might not be a curse but a privilege as he has meaning in his life and a purpose to live. The country fell under the rule of China and France at early points in its history before claiming its full independence in 1945. Many Americans still view Vietnam from the Vietnam War point of view because it ended in a United States defeat. Since that war almost 40 years ago, Vietnam s leadership has had a plan in place to rebuild the country s infrastructure and solidify its place in the world. Today, Vietnam continues to thrive economically by taking advantage of its natural resources and location despite being the home to one of the last single party Socialist governments in the world. What Are The Pros And Cons Of Federal Budgets The Balancing of State Federal Budgets The purpose of this paper is to analyze and determine the pros and cons of a balanced vs unbalanced financial system by comparing the nature of state budgets to the federal budget. States and local governments operate within the parameters of a balanced annual budget where their total expenditures equal their total revenues generated; however, a surplus can occur when their revenues exceed their expenditures as well as a fiscal deficit when their expenditures exceed their revenues. When state or local governments experience a fiscal deficit due to hardship like a natural disaster, they can petition the federal government for funding in order to reconcile their budgets. However, the federal government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, the federal government has an artificially designated borrowing threshold beyond which the government is not authorized to borrow funds in order to manage over spending that is contributing to the fiscal deficit and this threshold is referred to as the national debt ceiling (Ross, 2015). The federal government has the ability to raise its own debt ceiling if needed with the approval of congress. This practice is largely in place because the federal government has the authority to print money and issue currency in order to help regulate the economy whereas this is out of state and local government s jurisdiction of fiscal power. When the federal government is approaching its debit ceiling, it will then borrow money in the form of treasury bonds in order to help balance the deficit spending. These treasury bonds are purchased by individuals, corporations, and other countries like China amongst other entities (Ross, 2015).
