after seemed to be more compelling than the ones that just assumed a certain answer. However, the
longer the duration of time between the before and after results most likely produced more variables
being tested, rather than just one. Based on the studies outlined it only seems accurate that these
flashbulb memories actually exist and affect our memory. The real analysis of these findings are how

Skepticism surrounding John Donne s Sappho to Philaenis relates to the fact that the societal structure
at the time the poem was written was one dominated by heterosexual, misogynistic men, suggesting
that Donne s treatment of female homosexuality was geared towards the satiation of these
heterosexual males desires, these men being his primary audience at the time. However, the
significance of Donne s poem must be explored on another level. In contrast to the view that the piece
was meant to represent a male dominant society, an alternate view is that the poem originates from a
place of protofeminism and a pioneering sexual outlook on Donne s part. In Sappho to Philaenis, the
purity and secrecy of the two women s sexuality functions as a significant argument for the validity of
same sex relationships; Donne makes the invisible the erotic, thereby defining a discourse for
lesbianism. Early modern literature penned by heterosexual males and referencing lesbian
relationships should not be dismissed as being inauthentic and inaccurate depictions solely based on

One way the author did this one through statistics. For example, she wrote, Soldiers using these
weapons could fire as many as twenty shots per minute, as opposed to two or three shots per minute
that a skilled rifleman could fire with a front loading gun. With this statistic we can see the

theory through convergence, divergence, social identity, and initial orientation. Throughout this paper,
evidence will be shown through these four different elements and four studies on how they play an

tested and analyzed how participants in each test use these four elements when speaking with a
foreigner. I am going to apply these tests and results to my own experiences when I am speaking with
a foreigner, specifically for when I am in Sweden each summer when I am communicating with
