structure As illustrated above, a hybrid active noise cancelling system is a constitution of feedforward
and feedback mechanism with adaptive filters. The red area in block diagram is the feedforward
section and the green is the feedback section. To understand this system more thoroughly, we will
need to look at the feedforward and the feedback system individually. 2.2.2 Feedforward ANC System

Figure 2 is the general feedforward ANC block diagram with Least Mean Square (LMS) adaptive

However, standard LMS algorithm tends to cause instability issue [13], since the error signal is not
properly aligned in time in time with the reference signal due to the presence of the secondary path
transfer function S(z). To solve the problem, it is necessary to find a different LMS filter or a different
ANC system. There are several ANC filter algorithms and systems can be chosen as the solution.
1.recursive filtered least mean square (FxRLS); 2. fast transversal filter (FxFTF); 3. Lattice ANC
systems; 4. frequency domain ANC systems; 4. Filtered u recursive LMS filter based on IIR; 5.

Face Construct And Criterion-Related Validity Essay
There are differences among face, construct, and criterion related validity. Face validity assesses a task
under evaluation. A group of subjective experts evaluate face validity (Maribo, Pedersen, Jensen,
Nielsen, 2016). Face validity can be utilized to motivate stakeholders within an organization. If
stakeholders are not supportive of the results from face validity they will become disengaged. For
example, when measuring the level of professionalism during the hiring process questions should
relate to different levels of professionalism. If not stakeholders will not be motivated to give their
opinion and the true assessment of the hiring process will not be achieved. Face validity considers the
relevance of a test as it appears to testers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
367, 2012). This particular validity is important when it comes to legal defensibility. Construct
validity explains how what is being studied matches the actual measure. Criterion validity answers the
question of whether a test reflects a certain set of abilities. One way to assess criterion validity is to
compare it to a known standard. A reference is needed to determine an instrument s criterion related
validity. Criterion related validity predicts the future. If a nursing program designed a measure to
assess student learning throughout the program, a test such as the NCLEX would measure student s
ability in this discipline. If the instrument produces the same result as the superior test the instrument
has a high criterion related validity. The higher the results the more faith stakeholders will have in the
assessment tool. A criterion related validity study is conducted by statistically correlating scores with
some measure of job performance (Biddle, p.308, 2010). Criterion related validity is most important
when it comes to predicting performance in a specific job, and predicting future

Environmental Effects Of Invasive Species
The dangers to our world today have resulted in serious problems. In this regard, our ecosystems are
threatened by invasive species. These species have concluded into significant habitat destruction. For
example, Phragmites Australis, also known as the common reed is a major invasive species around the
world. These originated from Europe and are now found all over the United States. They have been
around for two centuries and are still around today. Common reeds are found to be native and
nonnative. This species is a part of the grass family, usually hollow and green with yellow knots. They
are around 6 13 feet tall and are found in wetlands and ditches. There are three lineages created of the
common reed, one, the North American lineage. Invasive species have negative, detrimental effects on
the ecosystems and environments.
In the article, Phragmites, Invasions Harm Riparian Property Values, studies are showing that the
common reed is a harmful plant. For example, they block parts of the sidewalks and restrict the access
to water, such as on lakes or ponds. For instance, residents pay excessive amounts of money to live on
lakes, that offer all the water activities and a pretty view in general, but when the invasive species
intrude they block the views and access to the water. In result, it ends up leaving these places unable to
manage. The other effect they leave is with sidewalks. They usually spread from ditches to all over the
sidewalks and such. Therefore, they

Secularism In Canada
On the international stage, Canada is often viewed as a secular and multicultural nation. Throughout
the history of the country, immigrants have come to Canada seeking a country which is accepting of
diversity in ethnicity, language, religion, and culture. Especially since the 1970s, when
multiculturalism was introduced by former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, thus becoming an official
policy of Canada, the diversity of the nation has increased greatly, (Wang Handy, 2014, p. 1561).
However, while Canada has become a more multicultural country as a whole, it has not necessarily
become more religiously pluralistic. In fact, it has been argued that Canada remains and will continue
to be an overwhelmingly Christian country and many immigrants ... Show more content on

Though Canada is officially a multicultural country, it has not resulted in complete religious toleration
or separation from Christian values and preference of the state. Through observation of the ongoing,
nationwide debate regarding sharia law, this can be seen. Since the early 2000s, a common area of
contention amongst Canadians has revolved around the debate of whether or not Sharia law should be
included in Ontario family tribunals. Sharia law is used to describe Islamic law as according to the
Qur an. Some Canadian Muslims believed that the addition of sharia law would help better integrate
Canadian Muslims into society. While previously, other forms of religious arbitration were permitted
in Ontario, the attempt to include Sharia law in the early 2000s played an vital role in the Ontario
government s decision to ban all forms of religious arbitration, (Reitz, Banergee, Phan, Thompson,
2009, p. 700). Consequently, the Family Statue Law Amendment was introduced in 2006 by the
Ontario government in order to ensure that the was one law for all . This legislation effectively banned
all faith based arbitration by instituting that all family law arbitration in the province would be
conducted the same as it would be for any other Canadian, (Berger, 2015, p. 52). Conversely, prior to
this amendment, religious arbitration was permitted in Ontario. However, when religious pluralism

Essay On Thomas Bruce
Who s is it Anyways? Thomas Bruce, the seventh earl of Elgin took 56 pieces of the Parthenon s
frieze, 15 mesotopes, and 17 pediment sculptures along with a caryatid and a column from a nearby
temple, the erechtheion (Brysac, 74). Thomas had permits to take the pieces for he believed that they
needed rescued . Some say he was stealing. On the way to England some of the pieces sank and
remained for a few years before being restored. Then, in 1938, Lord Duveen ordered for the pieces to
be prepared for display. Tools and other hard items were used to get a lot of the grime off of the statue.
However the technique caused some breakage. Later, St. Clair decided that the honey brown color that
was originally on the pieces should be put back onto the statues. Before any restoration could be done
Britain went into World War II; therefore, they were restored underground during this time. Also,
clamps were added to the temple to try and restore it, but it ended up rusting and cracking the
structure. Alexandro Mantis claimed that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, I believe that the art pieces are rightfully the Greeks. The pieces were taken from the
Parthenon. The only issue is that the marbles were taken legally because Elgin had the permit to do so
legally. As stated in the article There is a Michaelangelo David. There is a Da Vinci Venus. There is a
Praxiteles Hermes. There is a Turner Fisherman at sea. There are no Elgin Marbles! Therefore, I do
believe that the Elgin Marbles should not be called the Elgin Marbles, but The Parthenon Marbles
because they are from Greece and that is the original name. The Elgin Marbles are only named that
because the owner changed it and the Britains know that as its name now. I believe that the marbles no
matter their name should be reunited with its original resting place, in Greece, no matter if there was a
permit for removal involved in 1799 1802 (Bryson,

Neoclassical Architecture
The Neoclassical architecture consisted in the mid 1800s to the early 1900s. One of the earliest phases
of the neoclassical architecture grew alongside with the Baroque Period. The architecture is generally
evident in England, where there are buildings like the St Paul s Cathedral, The Royal Observatory, and
The Royal Chelsea Hospital. Large scale structures, Ionic pillars, and huge Renaissance style noodles
represent the Neoclassical architecture. Many took inspirations from simple shapes like spheres,
cubes, and cylinders so they could provide a more abstract classicism. Two well known architects of
the neoclassical period were the British architect Robert Adam and American architect Thomas
Jefferson. The British architect Robert Adam was one of the most important architects that worked in
the neo Hellenic manner. Born in Kirkaldy, Scotland, he followed the steps of his father and studied
architecture (Albert 1). His style worked well beyond only architect, but to interiors which included
moveable objects in a room. Ancient Greece and Rome influenced his plans and decoration. He even
got his own style which is experienced as the Adam Style or Adamesque. Some of his famous houses
included the Kenwood House, Oseterley Park, and the Syon House (Study.com 1). His plans are a lot
looser and less serious, with a broad range of color and ornamentation. His architecture was made to
match the outside of the building so it would fit the interior. So, bring everything together to

The Wanderer Essay
In Anglo Saxon culture blood feud was a common occurrence and if left unchecked could leave an
entire area devoid of people that once called it home due to infighting. To avoid furthering conflict one
could also pay the wer gild but if the murderer refused to pay the wer gild they would be exiled from
their society of forced to live on their own on the fringes of civilization. The Wanderer is from the
perspective of one man who was exiled after a blood feud and this part of his story is critical to
understanding the poem within the context of the culture it was written. However The Wanderer has a
backdrop of blood feud and punishment by exile surrounding it but it is not by itself a poem that
condemns either of those things instead it contends with the idea of wyrd or fate and how it is
inescapable. The weary mind cannot withstand wyrd (The Wanderer ll. 15) this line very early on in
the poem states how you can not beat back fate and that it is futile to try. The wanderer when he ...

Using this avenue of discussion the author explains that wyrd is an all powerful force that works like
the sea and is unrelenting in its force and no one is powerful enough to stand against it. Furthermore
he goes on to say that not only is no one powerful enough to stand against it but regardless of who you
are, you stand to be affected by it because its ultimate goal is to leave the world standing empty.
Especially near the end of the poem it states how all the warriors were swept away by wyrd along with
all the other worldly goods the speaker of the poem has grown accustomed to and loved. The poem
acts as an avenue for the discussion of how wyrd was pervasive in the society and culture of the anglo
saxons and furthermore how it was inescapable and was unable to be fought against. Wyrd was
something you simply accepted and that s all you could

Essay On Lord Krishna
Description
Lord Krishna is one of the most popular Gods in Hinduism. Krishna is considered the supreme deity,
worshipped across many traditions of Hinduism in a variety of different perspectives. Krishna is
recognized as the eighth incarnation (avatar) of Lord Vishnu, and one and the same as Lord Vishnu,
one of the trimurti and as the supreme god in his own right. Krishna is the principal protagonist with
Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita also known as the Song of God, which depicts the conversation between
the Royal Prince Arjuna and Krishna during the great battle of Kureksetra 5000 years ago where
Arjuna discovers that Krishna is God and then comprehends his nature and will for him and for
mankind. In present age Krishna is one of the most widely revered and most popular of all Indian
divinities.
Each incarnation of Lord Vishnu on the Earth is with a purpose and to accomplish some definite tasks.
Lord Krishna came to the Earth to kill king Kansa and to relieve the people of Braj from his torture
and tyranny. Later Krishna participated in the events of the Mahabharata and Lord Krishna s
participation had profound effect on the Mahabharata war and its consequences.

The witness
Mrs P. is the main prosecution witness. She is a 40 year old, white married woman who lives on the
same estate as the defendant.
The witness evidence
Mrs P. claims that she was walking down the High Street in her town on her way to play bingo. She
could hear shouts coming from down one of the side streets and she decided to investigate. On going
down the badly lit side street she came across a gang of three males who were fighting with a fourth.
She saw the fourth male being knocked to the ground and one of the gang started kicking him and
hitting him hard with a piece of wood. The man on the ground was obviously in a lot of pain. The
male who was attacking the man on the ground looked up and she says that she recognised him as
being T. Mrs P. claims that T. is a well known trouble maker on the estate where she lives and she has
often seen him around. Mrs P. ran back to the High Street called the police and an ambulance on her
mobile phone but did not give her name or details because she says she was scared about reprisals.
Mrs P. only contacted the police four weeks later when she found out that the victim was still in
hospital in a coma.
The police initially showed her a series of photographs of possible suspects and she picked out T. with

Evolution Of The Wellness Program
The wellness programs that many companies now seem to be interested in is nothing new, as
companies have known for many years that a healthy and fit employee is a more productive employee.
This company interest in fit employees can be traced back to the time right after World War II. After
WWII a few companies decided to construct gyms and staffed them with instructors to help in the
promotion of fitness (Sparling 2010), (Chenoweth 2011), (Miller 2014). These gyms were perks
typically for upper management and had little effect on the health behaviors or the health care for the
majority of the employees. These types of programs continued to grow throughout the 1970s with
limited influence because of their focus on upper management but ... Show more content on

Companies have identified the need for a wellness program to help in this endeavor. Companies also
need a means to identify the performance and cost of this wellness program. Just as organizations have
used the fundamental concepts of cost measurement and recognition to provide the past, present and
future performance and cost (Crosson, and Needles, 2014).
Historical programs have proven that without proper performance measurements and being properly
budgeted not just a wellness program but all programs are doomed to fail.
A company wellness program must have performance measures system that will monitor both the
operating results and the multiple performance measurements that are needed to identify the return on
investment (ROI), residual income (RI), and economic value added (EVA) (Crosson, and Needles,
2014). This will only provide a short term performance measurement of the wellness program and
would require an understanding of the wellness program stakeholders to provide a more balanced
view of the program. During the planning phase of a company s wellness program, there is the need to
identify a company s vision and strategy for the wellness program.
At the beginning of any program, there needs to be an initial evaluation of the current conditions and
or status. By establishing a baseline of the health of your employees will provide the

In this research paper, I am going to show the various aspects of the theme of death in the short story.
Before the short story begins, Hemingway simply tells the story of a leopard s skeleton that is said to
lie at a high altitude on the slope of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is up to the reader to decide how to relate
this tale to the rest of the short story, but it is obvious at this point that death will play an important
role in the story. The main storyline develops around the deadly infection of Harry s leg after suffering
from a thorn scratch. He talks about death in the very first sentence of the short story, saying The
marvelous thing is that it s painless, that s how you know when it starts (Hemingway 4). As the story
develops, Harry frequently mentions his wish to die or thee way he feels that death is very close now:
You can shoot me. You re a good shot now (Hemingway 4). and I don t want to move, there is no
sense in moving now except to make it easier for you (Hemingway 8) and Can t you let a man die as
comfortably as he can without calling him names? (Hemingway 8) and Don t be silly. I m dying now
(Hemingway 8). It sounds as if Harry is giving up, not necessarily because he is a coward, even
though his wife calls him that, but more because he feels that it is more comfortable for him at this
point to lay down and die instead of waiting for a truck or airplane that will probably never arrive: I

Interview on Loss Death
Throughout this semester, we have learned about death as both a process and an event. Much of the
information has come from Death Dying, Life Living (Corr Corr, 2012), which offers a fairly
comprehensive look at death, dying, and bereavement. This textbook has taught about death and dying
from many perspectives, including the legal, philosophical, psychological, and social aspects of it. We
began the semester by looking at our own history of loss and how it has impacted our attitude towards
death. To continue extending our study outside of the classroom, we were instructed to discuss loss,

Although self disclosure is sometimes discouraged in counseling, in this case it was important for a
few reasons. One is because for a young adolescent, as this boy was, a close family death may be the
biggest or one of the most traumatic events of their lifetime so far and she wanted to help him see that
it was a difficult but not abnormal life experience. Second, sometimes children need to be given
permission to talk about such events and know it is ok to admit difficulty in coping. Finally, then when
he asked about what she did to cope with it, it provided an opportunity to model and teach appropriate
grief and coping behaviors, which our textbook (Corr Corr, 2012) states is a common need of
bereaved children.
She shared with me about a support she recently learned about that could help him or other children
she works with in the future. In Indianapolis, Brooke s Place offers support groups and counseling for
children and adolescents dealing with grief and loss. This supportive and safe environment seems to
embody much of what Corr and Corr (2012) suggests children need when facing grief and loss. This
resource may be helpful not only for her professionally in the future, but also for me, as I hope to
work with children or families in my career.

Barkley replied that its situation was strong and that it believes that were the other banks the ones that
were quoting lower than effective interbank borrowing cost rates (Kregel 2012. p. 2 4).
The main victim of this manipulation would have been the competitiveness in the financial markets; as
this scheme would unfavorably influence the efficient distribution of capitals and cause distortion of
prices, i.e. the mortgage prices would decreased and therefore the amount of houses sold would
increase dramatically as well as related assets; such as: furniture, construction materials, etc. while

Maybe the very same process to estimate the LIBOR rate propitiated the manipulation scheme. The

The Decision Of Roe V. Wade
The decision of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court case that legalized abortion in the United States, had
a very evident and profound impact on the social and political climates of the United States. Before
the case, it had seemed that abortion was a settled issue in America: a majority of people opposed the
practice, and a majority of states had abortion bans. However, by the 1960 s, political factions and
campaigns were rising up and stirring the waters of reproductive rights. Abortion had changed during
the courses of the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries, morphing from a private practice of the people
into a great political divide. Abortion was actually easily accessible during the Nineteenth Century, but
the rise of religious fundamentalism compelled citizens to become involved in either the protection of
the fetus or the defense of reproductive rights. Roe v. Wade had been either labeled as the legal
settling of the abortion issue or the igniter of change in regards to abortion. The decision not only
affected the minds of the people, but the decision had also set a legal precedent that affected more than
thirty Supreme Court cases that later dealt with abortion (Planned Parenthood). As previously stated,
abortion was quite accessible during the Nineteenth Century simply because it was classified as a
private matter between a woman and her doctor. Although medical practices were drastically different
during that period, doctors performed very effective techniques to

David Foster Wallace Water Speech Summary
In the opening of David Foster Wallace s speech, he talks about two young fish swimming past an
older adult fish who is swimming in the opposite direction. The older fish asked them a question about
the water, and yet they had no idea what water is. Wallace made an interesting point with this story by
emphasizing that what is right in front of us we tend not to be conscious of it. Wallace painted a
picture for the audience about two men in a bar arguing about religion. The significance to this story is
that one person can interrupt the same experience or situation differently. Both of the men are too self
centered to take into consideration of one another s beliefs. They are closed minded to their own
beliefs. Another good point that Wallace

for every card after 7 at the end of your turn, you must draw an extra infection card. So, if you have 9

every time a player draws a card past 7 they will be given the choice to discard or draw infection

married woman and a mother of two who was left alone and heartbroken; because of this, she sought
revenge after her husband left her for a woman of higher status. As she acted impulsively and
irrationally, she executed a murderous plan, one that left her old lover with the funeral plans of both
his new princess and their children. At first glance, one might say that she was heartless, evil, and
spiteful; however, by taking into account the motivation behind her actions, one can quickly change
their perspective to understand her reasoning. One way to understand someone better is to look into
their personality and how it was developed. Sigmund Freud developed the concept that one s
personality is classified into three main structures in the mind that are constantly fighting each other
until one area dominates. The three main structures within Medea include the Id, Ego, and Super ego,
systems that are easily seen and demonstrate how each part of her personality affected the outcome of
her story. When looking at Medea s Id, Ego, and Super ego, one can see how they influenced the
defense mechanisms and drew in possible traumatic childhood events from her youth that could help
to comprehend the actions she carried out. The analyses of Medea s background and decision making
factors are not a

Freudian Paradigm Of Mental Illness Research Paper
The Freudian paradigm of mental health states that that mental illness stems from repressed emotion,
and unidentified conflicts within the unconscious mind and could be treated using his personally
designed mode of therapy called, Psychoanalysis. Freud also believed that one could only understand
a person s mental illness through intimate understanding of that person s past and personality, not
through taxonomic diagnosis. Although Freud employed some use of taxonomy of mental illness, it
never was used consistently or in a uniformed manner that actually constituted a formal process or
standards for clinical diagnosis. The biomedical paradigm on the other hand attributes the cause of
mental illness to be specifically triggered by chemical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the Freudian Paradigm in itself could actually be understood in the context of Grahams
preferred Imperfect Rationality Theory. This is due to Freud s view on mental illness, and treatment
being on focused on mental and behavioral aspects of the mind, and a lack of rationality within the
person rather than the physiological dysfunction of the brain itself. In Freud s practice one does not
need chemical imbalance in the brain, or psychotropic drugs, for a person s mental illness to be

Mpemba Effect Essay
The Mpemba Effect is the observation that warm water freezes quicker than cold water in certain
circumstances. The warm water seems counterintuitive but ultimately catalyzes the freezing process.
The warm water represents disobedience and the freezing process represents social progress.
Disobedience has a negative connotation, which contradicts the idea of positive progression but in
many cases, can actually accelerate it. Many commonly misinterpret disobedience as violence, when
in actuality, some of the most powerful reformers in history have emphasized nonviolence. Rosa
Parks, the Greensboro Sit ins, and the Birmingham Campaign all validate the idea that disobedience
generates social progress. The rebellious Rosa Parks kick started the ... Show more content on

On February 1, 1960 four African American freshmen attending North Carolina Agricultural and
Technical State University walked into a Woolworths department store. After purchasing toothpaste
and other items from a desegregated register, the men, later referred to as the Greensboro Four,
continued on to the lunch counter. In accordance to the stores policy, a counter designated as whites
only could deny service to any and all African Americans. Therefore, the employee denied the men the
coffee that had asked for. The four students simultaneously protested Woolworth s refusal of service
by occupying the seats until the store closed that day. This effort continued in subsequent days, weeks,
and months while growing in size, publicity, and notoriety. Over the course of the protest, Woolworth
lost over $200,000 in sales, which is equivalent to $1.6 million in today s economy. The act of
defiance led by those four men eventually led to Woolworth s repealing their segregation policy. On a
bigger scale, the Greensboro sit in sparked a national trend of organized protests. This protest
reminded me of my sixth grade year when my school s entire student body opposed the newly
enforced seating arrangement in the lunch room. The basis behind my school s protest was similar to
that of the Greensboro

Determining the Relationship between Postnatal Depression...
CHAPTER 4
4.1 Search Strategy
The main purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between postnatal depression and
peer support by way of reviewing primary research articles. The search strategy adopted for this study
can be broken down into several steps. The key concepts and terminologies for the study were
identified. The synonyms of the terms were then determined which were also included within the
search terms. Boolean operators were the chosen search features. Databases from which the literature
search would be conducted were chosen. Using Boolean operators, different search expression were
created and the search conducted. The results were evaluated and the inclusion exclusion criteria
applied to get the articles that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Murder of Rasputin Essay
Rasputin was an important figure in the Russian Revolution. His acclaimed magical powers helped
lessen the symptoms of poor Alexei s hemophilia, an awful condition in which the blood doesn t clot.
Because Alexei was the heir to the Romanof throne, Tsar Nicholas II and Alexandra were in a stressful
situation. They gave Rasputin certain powers that people were jealous of. The aristocrats could not
stand a peasant in such a high position. Peasants could not stand the rumors that the tsarina was
sleeping with such a weirdo because he had a reputation for being a pervert. Rasputin was seen as a
pest who was ruining Russia. To save the monarchy from revolutions, assassins were assigned to

Pros And Cons Of Absolute Monarchy
Absolute Monarchy is a flawed system, in which a monarch has total power over their people. An
example of absolute monarchy from the past is Louis XVI and an example in current times is Pope
Francis in Vatican City. There are pros and cons to this system just as there is with any government
system, but most people agree would that there generally are more cons then pros with this system.
Absolute monarchy is when one ruler has total rule over their country, an example of how flawed this
system is, is Louis XVI with France. Some countries still run under absolute monarchy, including
Vatican City and Saudi Arabia. Vatican City is the last country left in Europe that hasn t eradicated
absolute monarchy. Having just one person in control of the country can cause serious damage if
someone with very specific views gets into office. this problem can happen with most forms of
government, but under other forms of government there is a constitution or checks and balances to
make sure that no one is receiving too much power. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Metallica Research Paper
Metallica is considered one of the first metal bands of the early eighties. They are a part of the big
four, the other three include Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer. The metal genre is proven to have the
biggest fan base over any other genre. In this article I will only be talking about their early years and
going up to their first four albums. Most diehard Metallica fans will argue that their first four albums
are true Metallica and after that they went mainstream to try and branch out to other audiences.
Metallica was formed in Los Angeles, in late 1981 when Danish born drummer Lars Ulrich placed an
advertisement in a Los Angeles newspaper The Recycler, which read, Drummer looking for other
metal musicians to jam with. Guitarists James Hetfield ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Deaf Education Technology
Technology has advanced our school systems and provides many new and helpful products into the
classrooms. Technology has also provided specialized products for students that are hearing impaired.
There is no lack of opportunities for the deaf and hard of hearing in the school system. There are many
ways to innovate the way they learn. Children learn best through a visual mode. Providing an
environment where the child can learn things through the use of their sense of vision is very
important. They teach students to think, process, organize, and prioritize new information. It is also

tool that enables direct communication between hearing and deaf persons. It recognizes over 30,000
words and phrases. This is a powerful translation tool from text or speech to sign language. It can be
used on most laptops or desktop computers. This program enables viewing on the screen, seamless
signing in real time, translated from text or captured voice. A teacher can now use this program in the
classroom to make learning experiences less complicating. A second program that uses Voice to text
technologies is the icommunicator. This system allows voice to text to sign language access using
video clips. The current versions available do not hold various meaning words or idioms. They are
currently developing a new version that will deal with the language issues. The last Voice to text

funded in part by a grant three year grant from the U.S. Department of Education. This program won
Discover Magazine s Software Innovation of the Year Award in 1995. Originally this software was
created using HyperCard. As digital video and compression technology improved, they were able to

The Importance of Budget Planning
Introduction
The main responsibility of manager is planning for the future by deciding what should be done and
how it will be achieved. Budget is such a formalized system of planning, forecasting, monitoring and
controlling the use of resources which help the managers to achieve organization s objectives both in
public sector and private sector. Budgets fulfill a number of roles in the management of organizations
and different roles may cause some conflicts. Here, we will identify the principal roles of budgets and
have a briefly comment on the compatibility of these differing roles.
Principal Roles
According to Emmanuel et al. (1990), there are five main roles for budgets: a system of authorization;
a means of forecasting and planning; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It always seemed to be the benchmark to compare with the actual performance of the management.
According to this inherent character of budget, it always provides the standard to compare with the
actual performance and get the variance which may help the management to make decision.
Comment on the compatibility of differing roles
Budgets perform different roles in the organization. Some of these roles are compatible with each
other, such as appropriate authorization may increase the accuracy of planning and forecasting. The
low level management could provide more detail and accurate information for the top management
which may help to work out more precise planning and forecasting. Indeed, Clearly defined
responsibilities (Blackwood, 1995) in performance evaluation may help to achieve effective
communication. However, sometime the different role may have some conflicts. For instance, the over
emphasis on the performance evaluation will effect the role of motivation. In a real world, the
evaluation of performance is more complex. Some aspects are easy to measure, such as, sales volume,
productivity, market share, but still intangible factors are difficult to evaluate, for example, custom
service, quality and innovation. Those factors are hard to assess by the fixed budget system, but they
are important to the business success. The over emphasis on performance will stop the management to

Jains Do Not Harm All Living Things
Jains believe that is no true god in the world. They believe if a perfect god created the world, why
would he have created an imperfect world? That isn t to say that the universe isn t consistently
changing. Jains believe that everything is eternal, but throughout time everything constantly changes.
They believe that two basic substances are mixed together that create the world: the jiva and ajiva.
Jiva is the soul and spirit, it senses and feels everything. Then there is the ajiva which encompasses
the other materials in the universe that doesn t have feeling or consciousness. It is the belief of Jains
that you should not harm anything or anyone because everything has a soul and can feel. Jains do not
eat meat or harm anything living.
Furthermore, their reason for not harming anything is that Jains believe that your soul will be recycled

Mad Love Character Analysis
The Batman Adventures Mad Love Deluxe Edition by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, is a graphic action
comic of the Joker trying to accomplish his ultimate goal of taking down Batman. Alongside the Joker
is Harley Quinn, who has falling for the Joker and is sick and tired of Batman getting in the way of her
and her Puddin (the Joker), and decides to take matters into her own hands. Scenes throughout the
graphic novel display the abusive relationship between the Joker and Harley and how she accepts to
be abused and mistreated because she loves him. Though the graphic novel is comical, it presents the
audience with images of male dominance and female submission, with the Joker and Harley.
In the first scene of the comic, the Joker and Harley are planning to kill the Police Commissioner, but
then Batman come in to save him. When Batman arrives Harley sprays him with some type of gas and
she becomes the dominant one in the scene, until the Joker gets angry and yells at her and starts
pulling her out of the room by her joker hat. Devor s statement of Such an alternative conception of

The Pros And Cons Of Single-Sex Education
Single sex education is an old approach that continues to gain momentum in today s society. The
concept has existed in many private schools, but it is a new system of education for public schools.
Single sex education advocates often cite learning differences as evidence for the benefits of
separating male and female students in the classroom. However, other experts suggest that segregating
by sex can increase gender stereotyping. Essentially, effective teaching depends on the engagement
and excitement of students regarding certain material. While it may be easier for students at single sex
schools to participate in class and succeed academically, the real world is not composed of one sex.
Additionally, co educational schools offer more diversity and a realistic social ecosystem. However,
students may become distracted by the opposite sex, hindering their academic successes. Single sex
education: the pros and cons by Kristin Stanberry and Research Spotlight on Single Gender Education
are two articles that pinpoint the advantages and disadvantages of single sex education. Ultimately,
single gender education is better than co educational education because teachers can use techniques
geared towards a specific gender, the educational prospects for girls and boys widen, and distractions
are limited.
Firstly, single gender education is better than co educational education because teachers are able to use
techniques geared towards a specific gender. Recent research certainly

Before the Declaration of Independence that we know today was enforced, several revisions to the
document were made. One of the causes of these revisions that eventually was absent from the
Declaration of Independence was the mention of the abolition of slavery. Politicians of the time period
debated this key issue, as politicians differed between whether slavery should continue to exist in the
nation. The Declaration promised life, liberty and property to all those who lived in the United States,
however politicians knew that plantations and the agriculture business would not thrive without a
source of cheap labor.
During the late part of the eighteenth century as well as early part of the nineteenth century, the United
States drastically grew geographically. Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio were all admitted into the
union between 1791 1803. However, the rapid geographical growth was largely in part to the
Louisiana Purchase of 1803. The Louisiana Purchase was a land deal between the United States and
France, a deal in which the U.S. acquired 827,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi. In
1787 slavery was barred in the Northwest Territory however, whether slavery would exist in the states
acquired through the Louisiana Purchase had not yet been decided. When Missouri,

The Importance Of Family Relationships
Having a relationship is like having a wall for support, like having someone to lean on. A relationship
needs trust, loyalty, and respect. Without these, the relationship will not succeed. Relationships need
hard work and dedication, nothing good will come from an easy relationship. Although completely
different, each type of relationship shows importance to the social growth of people. In life, people
encounter many different types of relationships: family, casual, intimate, and friendships.
Family forms the first bond anyone will ever encounter, because blood is thicker than water. Family
builds future relations. Humans learn how to love and care for people from their families (Ransohoff,
2013). Nancy Brown, educator, and Julia Ransohoff, medical doctor student at Stanford, state family
is defined as a domestic group of people with some degree of kinship, (Ransohoff, 2013). Family
includes blood, marriage, and adoption (Ransohoff, 2013). Although not every family includes all of
these. A blended family may not involve blood or adoption, or a traditional family only includes
marriage and adoption. People consider these relations, family, because even though a blood tie does
not exist, those people still grew up together. Sure, some go through a difficult transition, but for
others, they make it through without an ounce of complication. To keep a family relationship healthy,
everyone must work at it (Ransohoff, 2013). Some people see traditional families as a mother, a

Despite the inevitable wear that sprung from years in Azkaban, Rabastan had still managed to retain a
youthful, somewhat cruel spirit. Now, however, the lines in his face had deepened and his eyes had
grown weary. There were many a night that Antonin and Rabastan spent in the Lestrange parlor with a
glass of Fire Whiskey and the bitter tongue that came from the fatigue spawned from a cause that
neither had enough heart left to advocate.
As he and Rabastan looked upon the row of girls with hollow cheeks and sickly skin, Antonin could
not identify who he hated more: Rabastan who convinced him to come, or himself, who agreed.
The girls wore the dirty, striped rags of Azkaban prison. Some had bruised faces. Others still had the
tears of dried blood stuck in place that told of past punishments. They were connected by glowing
shackles on their wrists that emitted a power surge of energy.
Alecto Carrow seemed to take pleasure in her position as warden to the new women s ward in
Azkaban. Her cruel eyes and yellow sneer in the direction of the girls was disconcerting. Upon further
examination, Antonin spotted a large, blunt ring on one of her fingers that was the exact size as some
of the marks on the girls skin.
Rabastan looked over the girls, the excitement worn away as he took in the appalling sight. Antonin
chose to stare at the floor.
They weren t alone, as a handful of other Death Eater s had taken interest in the girls as well. Some

An examination of Thomas Hardys The Darkling Thrush Essay
An examination of Thomas Hardy s The Darkling Thrush
The Darkling Thrush quot; is a poem occasioned by the beginning of a new year and a new century. It
is formally precise, comprised of four octaves with each stanza containing two quatrains in hymn
measure. The movement of the first two stanzas is from observation of a winter landscape as
perceived by an individual speaker to a terrible vision of the death of an era that the landscape seems
to disclose. The action is in how the apprehension of this particular moment of seeing changes as the
emotional impact of the scene solidifies.

The figure of the sun as a quot;weakening eye quot; is a personification, a trope resonating off
Romantic associations such as Wordsworth s quot;eye of heaven quot; for the sun in quot;Resolution
and Independence quot;. It establishes the poem s time as at the closing of a particular day at the end
of a seasonal year. Whether the Romantic allusion to visionary powers and their ebbing is noted or
not, it is a suggestive adjective for a time when seeing is becoming more difficult due to a reduction of
light. As the poem moves further away from visual observation to emotional coloration, it replaces
concrete detail with pathetic fallacy, a rhetorical device by which we, in Santayana s words quot;dye
the world our own color quot; (Santayana, 159).
The tangled bine stems scored the sky
Like strings of broken lyres . . .
The next two lines also have a Romantic link to Coleridge s aeolian harp and the music it made at
another dusk when it exemplified Unity, quot;one Life within us and abroad/ Which meets all motion
and becomes its soul quot;. A quot;wild harp quot; is also the image opening Coleridge s own
quot;Ode to the Departing Year quot;, a poem in which the harp is unable to evoke a lasting hope
(Coleridge, 56). Now , at the turn of the nineteenth century in Hardy s poem, the lyric

Robert Goddard and the Rocket
Over time, some of the simplest rockets and other space inventions have become even more elaborate.
In 1232, the first rockets were used by the Chinese and the Mongols while experimenting with their
creation of gunpowder. ( Rocket History. N.p., n.d. Web. 9 May 2014.) Rockets were also tossed
around with for fireworks and for the war between the Chinese and the Mongols. ( Rocket History.
N.p., n.d. Web. 9 May 2014.) They built and fired rockets with gunpowder combustion chambers.
Other rocket like devices have appeared throughout history in different cultures. Konstantin
Tsiolkovsky, a Russian school teacher, produced the idea of using rockets for better things like space
travel. ( Rocket History. Rocket History. N.p., n.d. Web. 9 May 2014.) However, Robert H. Goddard,
born October 5, 1882, was the first to ever launch a liquid fueled rocket and is recognized for his hard
work and discoveries to this day. ( When was the first rocket invented? | Space Facts – Astronomy,
the Solar System Outer Space | All About Space Magazine. ) Though there were a plethora of
incredible inventions of the twentieth century, the rocket has seemed to be the most remarkable. At the
root of all inventions, behind the nuts and bolts, the mathematical formulas and laws of physics, lies
imagination. (Aaseng, Nathan. Robert Goddard the Rocket. ) Robert Goddard used his imagination to
create the rocket and other technology before actual building it. (Aaseng, Nathan. Robert Goddard the

To understand this system more thoroughly, we will need to look at the feedforward and the feedback system individually. 2.2.2 Feedforward ANC System Block Diagram Figure 2. Standard Feedforward LMS ANC Figure 3. Feedforward FxLMS ANC Figure 2 is the general feedforward ANC block diagram with Least Mean Square (LMS) adaptive filter. The adaptive filter assists to filter the filter coefficient according to an adaptive algorithm. However, standard LMS algorithm tends to cause instability issue [13], since the error signal is not properly aligned in time in time with the reference signal due to the presence of the secondary path transfer function S(z). To solve the problem, it is necessary to find a different LMS filter or a different ANC system. There are several ANC filter algorithms and systems can be chosen as the solution. 1.recursive filtered least mean square (FxRLS); 2. fast transversal filter (FxFTF); 3. • 3. Face Construct And Criterion-Related Validity Essay There are differences among face, construct, and criterion related validity. Face validity assesses a task under evaluation. A group of subjective experts evaluate face validity (Maribo, Pedersen, Jensen, Nielsen, 2016). Face validity can be utilized to motivate stakeholders within an organization. If stakeholders are not supportive of the results from face validity they will become disengaged. For example, when measuring the level of professionalism during the hiring process questions should relate to different levels of professionalism. If not stakeholders will not be motivated to give their opinion and the true assessment of the hiring process will not be achieved. This particular validity is important when it comes to legal defensibility. Construct validity explains how what is being studied matches the actual measure. Criterion validity answers the question of whether a test reflects a certain set of abilities. One way to assess criterion validity is to compare it to a known standard. A reference is needed to determine an instrument s criterion related validity. Criterion related validity predicts the future. If a nursing program designed a measure to assess student learning throughout the program, a test such as the NCLEX would measure student s ability in this discipline. If the instrument produces the same result as the superior test the instrument has a high criterion related validity. The higher the results the more faith stakeholders will have in the assessment tool. These originated from Europe and are now found all over the United States. They have been around for two centuries and are still around today. Common reeds are found to be native and nonnative. This species is a part of the grass family, usually hollow and green with yellow knots. They are around 6 13 feet tall and are found in wetlands and ditches. There are three lineages created of the common reed, one, the North American lineage. Invasive species have negative, detrimental effects on the ecosystems and environments. In the article, Phragmites, Invasions Harm Riparian Property Values, studies are showing that the common reed is a harmful plant. For example, they block parts of the sidewalks and restrict the access to water, such as on lakes or ponds. For instance, residents pay excessive amounts of money to live on lakes, that offer all the water activities and a pretty view in general, but when the invasive species intrude they block the views and access to the water. In result, it ends up leaving these places unable to manage. The other effect they leave is with sidewalks. They usually spread from ditches to all over the sidewalks and such. Therefore, they ... Though Canada is officially a multicultural country, it has not resulted in complete religious toleration or separation from Christian values and preference of the state. Through observation of the ongoing, nationwide debate regarding sharia law, this can be seen. Since the early 2000s, a common area of contention amongst Canadians has revolved around the debate of whether or not Sharia law should be included in Ontario family tribunals. Sharia law is used to describe Islamic law as according to the Qur an. Some Canadian Muslims believed that the addition of sharia law would help better integrate Canadian Muslims into society. While previously, other forms of religious arbitration were permitted in Ontario, the attempt to include Sharia law in the early 2000s played an vital role in the Ontario government s decision to ban all forms of religious arbitration, (Reitz, Banergee, Phan, Thompson, 2009, p. 700). Consequently, the Family Statue Law Amendment was introduced in 2006 by the Ontario government in order to ensure that the was one law for all . This legislation effectively banned all faith based arbitration by instituting that all family law arbitration in the province would be conducted the same as it would be for any other Canadian, (Berger, 2015, p. 52). Wade, the Supreme Court case that legalized abortion in the United States, had a very evident and profound impact on the social and political climates of the United States. Before the case, it had seemed that abortion was a settled issue in America: a majority of people opposed the practice, and a majority of states had abortion bans. However, by the 1960 s, political factions and campaigns were rising up and stirring the waters of reproductive rights. Abortion had changed during the courses of the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries, morphing from a private practice of the people into a great political divide. Abortion was actually easily accessible during the Nineteenth Century, but the rise of religious fundamentalism compelled citizens to become involved in either the protection of the fetus or the defense of reproductive rights. Roe v. Wade had been either labeled as the legal settling of the abortion issue or the igniter of change in regards to abortion. The decision not only affected the minds of the people, but the decision had also set a legal precedent that affected more than thirty Supreme Court cases that later dealt with abortion (Planned Parenthood). Medea was a married woman and a mother of two who was left alone and heartbroken; because of this, she sought revenge after her husband left her for a woman of higher status. As she acted impulsively and irrationally, she executed a murderous plan, one that left her old lover with the funeral plans of both his new princess and their children. At first glance, one might say that she was heartless, evil, and spiteful; however, by taking into account the motivation behind her actions, one can quickly change their perspective to understand her reasoning. One way to understand someone better is to look into their personality and how it was developed. Sigmund Freud developed the concept that one s personality is classified into three main structures in the mind that are constantly fighting each other until one area dominates. On February 1, 1960 four African American freshmen attending North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University walked into a Woolworths department store. After purchasing toothpaste and other items from a desegregated register, the men, later referred to as the Greensboro Four, continued on to the lunch counter. In accordance to the stores policy, a counter designated as whites only could deny service to any and all African Americans. Therefore, the employee denied the men the coffee that had asked for. The four students simultaneously protested Woolworth s refusal of service by occupying the seats until the store closed that day. This effort continued in subsequent days, weeks, and months while growing in size, publicity, and notoriety. Over the course of the protest, Woolworth lost over $200,000 in sales, which is equivalent to $1.6 million in today s economy. The act of defiance led by those four men eventually led to Woolworth s repealing their segregation policy. On a bigger scale, the Greensboro sit in sparked a national trend of organized protests. For instance, the over emphasis on the performance evaluation will effect the role of motivation. In a real world, the evaluation of performance is more complex. The concept has existed in many private schools, but it is a new system of education for public schools.
