2. Roman And Greek Research Paper
Roman Greek Essay
This essay will prove that we have gotten many things from Greece and Rome. One of the things we
have gotten from Greece and Rome was law and politics. Another thing that we have gotten from
them is art. The last one that I have down, is art. We have many ideas that they ve shared.
For Law and Politics, we have learned many things from the Romans and the Greeks. One of the
things that we have gotten from the Greeks and Romans was the Democracy. Democracy basically
means people power , equality within people. Also, they have personal freedom which is what we
have today. We have the same government as the romans had.
Roman and Greek are is similar to today s art. They made paintings of people and places, like we do

3. Materialism In Fight Club
The First Rule David Fincher s film adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk s 1996 novel Fight Club is a
disturbing and explosive infused roller coaster perfectly blended with philosophical viewpoints about
mainstream society and materialism. Through an unnamed Narrator and his sociopathic partner Tyler
Durden, Fincher questions the human condition, our obsessions, fears, subconscious tendencies, as
well as illustrates just how grossly simple it is to influence and manipulate those around us. While
some might be turned away by the graphic violence and intense sexual themes, what lies underneath
this harsh exterior is a collection of powerful messages and ideas that above all else send the message
of simplicity and minimalism. Fight Club is a masterpiece of controlled chaos, methodical attention to
detail, and remarkable displays of acting and cinematic prowess. The plot of Fight Club revolves
around an unnamed Narrator suffering from insomnia. Whilst flying back from a business trip, he
comes into contact with Tyler Durden, a soap salesman who he starts a conversation with after
noticing they share the same type of briefcase. When the narrator returns home, he finds his
apartment, as well as all of his possession, have been destroyed in an explosion. With no one to turn to
for help, he calls Tyler, meeting him at a bar. After discussing consumerism, Tyler belittles the
Narrator on his lack of confidence of asking for a place to stay. Tyler then requests the Narrator to hit
him, to

6. Disruption Reflection
For my global engagement event, I attended the showing of the film, Disruption, followed by a brief
discussion session. This movie aired at Global Commons sponsored by the Office of Sustainability at
Elon University, specifically their student Eco Reps. The event began at seven o clock on Tuesday,
September 19th.
This film depicts the devastating effects of human activity in modern society on the environment
resulting in global climate change creating extreme weather events such as floods, tornadoes,
droughts, and hurricanes. Change in Earth s overall temperature is difficult to conceptualize because
its long term effects do not present urgency in most people s minds; consequentially, the film discloses
the lack of concern for environmental issues throughout government agencies and most citizens. Even
with the recent international industrial pledge to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, the objectives are
poorly defined and lack the intensity to reverse the damage. Incorporating both the scientific and
governmental explanation of climate change, the film illustrates the tremendous positive impact
civilian activists can accomplish. For example, the activists are planning the first major climate
change march and rallying local citizens behind a common goal to create meaningful change.
Following the movie the Eco Reps initiated a discussion session regarding Elon s impact on the
environment and specific ways students can alter their habits to make positive change such as
recycling, turning off electronics when not in use, and eating less meat. Although most of the students
were impressed with the measures Elon incorporates to be sustainable, I think the majority of the
student body during their daily lives do not consider environmental issues; thus, students perspectives
on climate change need to be altered.
I selected this topic because I am passionate about reducing climate change and limiting its
devastating effects on our planet; hence, I attempt to spread my knowledge and concerns to persuade
others to work together for an effective solution to mitigate its effects. Not only am I an
Environmental Studies major but also as a Public Health student I am interested in the cross section
between environmental

7. Adversity in Lord of the Flies Essay
In Lord of the Flies , how does Golding explore the main characters struggle against adversity?
Adversity is presented in many forms during Lord of the Flies for the main character Ralph. It comes
not only in the form of other people but a corruption of what society the boys on the island have
managed to hold onto.
One of the strongest forms of adversity came in the form of a strong and outspoken boy Jack; Jack
often overwhelms and disregards things that Ralph, the chief of the boys on the island, has said to be
done. Ralph, we can see, struggles to hold his control over the group of boys when Jack refuses to
believe the importance of these jobs. Ralph s biggest struggle against adversity against Jack happens

He understands what the basics are as he knows they need food, hygiene for safety and smoke signal
for passing ships to see, this is obvious because he knows they need a smoke signal or they will die .
One of the biggest forms of adversity with which the boys struggled was undoubtedly learning to cope
and overcome the fear the littluns had instilled upon themselves associated with the beast . Golding
does this by changing the way Ralph handles the crisis and changing his basic survival instincts back
to that of the society the boys have left behind and learn to be compassionate towards the obviously
scared young boys. This is obvious because throughout the book Ralph has been harsh, we can see this
most in the first few chapters where he himself is obviously scared at the prospect of surviving with
no adult help or guidance, we can see this through the way Golding has made Ralph speak and react to
the other characters, such as his harshness to another key figure in the book, Piggy. An example of this
is the fact that Ralph continuously tells Piggy to Shut up . However, when he understands the littluns
fear of the beast , his tone softens and he understands that they need to be protected and looked after to
feel safe, this is obvious because he made sure

Then at the right age at that, our grandchildren won t have natural gases. At the time that our great
grandchildren was born, they won t had access to fossil fuel ever again. We are just taking too much of
them out of the ground, even though they are not endless resources. We should try to learn to not
depend on them anymore. So that our next generation can adapt to the world with no fuel. Also, I
would like to say that we are destroying the environment, using fuel mean releasing greenhouse gases,
mostly CO2. To the atmosphere, making greenhouse effect to happen and damaging the ozone layer,
making the ozone hole that let ultraviolet light to get to the ground causing skin cancer. Also, there is a
link between CO2 and O2, plant take CO2, releases O2, animals and us take O2 and releases CO2.
Because of releasing too much CO2, we are creating the imbalance in the atmosphere. The CO2 traps
heat from coming out of the Earth, as the result of heat is gaining in Earth. There are many proof about
this such as melting

9. Vapor Pressure Lab
Volatile liquids are prevalently used in the perfume industry. Because of their evaporative nature,
feasibility is a top concern from both a shipping and manufacturing standpoint. Therefore, it is
necessary to ship the most viable chemicals under specific conditions . This experiment tested the
relationship between vapor pressure and molar mass and the relationship between vapor pressure and
temperature using four alcohols (amyl alcohol, ethanol, methanol, and 2 propanol) to assess whether n
hexanol or an alternative alcohol should be used and how the alcohol should be transported. From the
graph trend lines, a negative slope showed that molar mass was inversely proportional to vapor
pressure, and a positive slope showed that temperature was directly proportional to vapor pressure. It
was concluded that n hexanol transported at colder temperatures would most effectively minimize the
alcohol s volatility.

Boiling point is the temperature at which the vapor pressure equals the ambient atmospheric
pressure.2 Therefore, a substance with a lower boiling point is also one with a higher vapor pressure
because it requires less energy to increase for vapor pressure to equal ambient atmospheric pressure.
Another example is that vapor pressure can serve as an effective indicator of a substance s degree of
volatility, a substance s tendency to vaporize.3 Because a substance with higher vapor pressure has
greater tendencies of both evaporation and condensation in equilibrium, it will also vaporize more
readily.4 This, in particular, will be a central

Intro When the average person imagines what the typical terrorist looks like, they would not describe
any of the defining characteristics of the average IRA soldier whether physically or tactically. White
Irish accented men and women carrying around assault rifles as well as planting bombs does not seem
like the stereotypical terrorist. While it would be untrue that there has never been a white terrorist in
the modern era because there has, such as Timothy McVeigh, Eric Rudolph, and the Ted Kaczynski.

and they certainly do not go for mass amounts of casualties. However, they are still terrorist. They still
blow up buildings and assassinate people. They still create fear to accomplish a political goal and still
have killed/wounded a lot of people in single incidents whether on purpose or not. They are also
similar to groups such a the PLO and Hezbollah in the sense that part of their group uses terrorism and
the other part does not condone terrorism but instead uses diplomacy to get their way. These
disagreements in terrorism vs diplomacy policies have led to splits in the group and even fighting
amongst each other which had begun the decline of the IRA. Ultimately diplomacy has won for now
and the terrorist IRA group has settled down some. With that said, anyone familiar with the IRA s past
recognizes that diplomacy does not last forever and similar to the Palestine Israel conflict; peace
agreements are just fleeting moments in time where both sides are preparing for the inevitable spark
that will reignite the forever war. If this is true, does the United States have anything to fear from a

On 6 February 1840, representatives of the British Crown and numerous Maori chiefs united in the
ceremony of the signing of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi documentation in the Bay of
Islands, New Zealand, (New Zealand Ministry of Justice, 2015). (1) This, signified the official
colonisation of New Zealand and with this the promise of certain principles that were to be upheld by
the British law, including that of Protection, Participation and Partnership, for all citizens now unified
under the British Crown (MOH, 2000b). (2)
Controversially, due to translational implications the true intention and meaning of the Te Tiriti o
Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi has been often contested due to the Maori losing much of their
Autonomy along with their cultural history, this adversely affecting Maori spiritual, mental, emotional,
and physical health outcomes, both individually as well as within the family structure, which is still
evident 175 years later, (New Zealand Ministry of Justice, 2015). (1).
Along with colonisation, many foreign diseases such as measles, mumps, tuberculosis and whooping
cough, that infiltrated New Zealand, proving detrimental for Maori as their immune systems were yet
to develop antibodies and immunity to the newly introduced pathogens, (Pool, 2012). Concurrently,
this resulted in a high morbidity and mortality rate around the end of the 1800s, as according to
statistics, the Maori population declined in number from approximately 100,000 in 1767,

State University, the female share of the college athletics budget had increased to 37% of the operating

impressive is the dramatic increase in numbers of female high school athletes from 295,000 in 1971 to
2.95 million in 2004 (par. 7). The higher budgets gave many women that are high school athletes an
opportunity to play at a higher level in college. The budgets widened the amount of things a college
can do with the women athletics. Before Title IX, women scholarships were not entirely existent. An
article stated, Women and girls were virtually precluded from taking advantage of most athletic
opportunities in schools before Title IX, but we are beginning to see the outcome of equal opportunity
on the playing fields. .Title IX has helped girls and women participate in interscholastic and

I need to read and understand knowledge respecting private lives of individuals and encourage the
openness and accountability of public authorities. In the report my aims and objectives will be to

credit rating.
The act gives people the right to see personal file, for example one held by a bank on a customer s
creditworthiness. In the Data
Protection Act 1998 it was updated legislation and gave employees the right to see the personal files.
Organisations are only allowed to keep relevant information on customers for the purpose for which it
was collected and not longer than is necessary. For example a tour operator which collects names and
addresses of customers when they enter a competition cannot keep the data and use it for other
promotional activities unless the customer gives permission. The tour operator is not allowed to sell
the data to another organisation either.
It was passed in order to protect the rights of individuals who have data relating to them stored on
computers file by an organisation or the owner of the data. The rapid development in the use of
information and communication technology has led to legislation about the collection, storage,
processing and distribution of personal data.
Under the provision of the act a person can find out the information which is held on him and her by:

Improvement of technology and its use has been the foundation for American economics. Although
such innovation does create jobs, customs, and cultures that contribute to the American lifestyle, it can
also create pollution that harms the environment and brings about environmental injustice. People
focus on outcome effects of a certain project. Whether its main goal is for economic gains, to help
improve the way American people live, or even if it is harming the ecosystem in any way, they will
intervene. However, what people don t pay attention to is the tool that is being used to accomplish
such goals that can produce complications as it relates to the environment and injustice that comes
with the utilization of technology. This creates a selective exposure mentality in the sense that if the
tool being used has been here before the person was born or even if the tool is used to support daily
activities within the American household and lifestyle, then in no way should it be harmful to humans
or the environment. There must be a different way in which American citizens can identify such
potential dangers so that disaster can be avoided. One approach is to have professionals in the related
field expose such technologies that people believe are helping them but instead are causing damage to
the environment. As a previous low voltage linemen with seven years of experience, alongside my

Garage Sale is an informal event for the sale of goods by private individuals, in which sellers are not
required to obtain business licenses or collect sales tax though in some jurisdictions, a permit may be
required.
Typically the goods in a garage sale are unwanted items from the household with its owners
conducting the sale. The conditions of the goods vary, but they are usually usable. The items are
displayed to the passers by or those responding to flyers, classified ads or newspaper ads.
Popular motivations for a garage sale are for cleaning, moving or earning extra money. The venue at
which the sale is conducted is typically a garage, at a driveway, carport, and front yard or inside a
house.
Items typically sold at garage sales include old clothing, book, toys, household decorations, lawn and
garden tools, sports equipment and board games. Larger items like furniture and occasionally home
appliances are also sold
Garage sale will be conducted with the end goal of raising funds to support the extension service of

In this essay I aim to discuss the portrayal of Silas Marner in chapters 1, 2 and 14 in the novel.
The story of Silas Marner is about how things can change in time. It also supplies a certain message.
George Elliot wrote the story in

She changed her name because it was difficult for a woman s book to be published. Her story deals

Basketball is one of the most popular which is beloved sports that is played today. Michael Jordan,
who played for the Washington Wizards and the Chicago Bulls once said, Just play, have fun, and

entertainment or simply watching from home, basketball is very enjoyed all over the world. Beginning
with a unique history, basketball has evolved over time from a simple idea into a professional career
choice for those with the unique skill set. During the winter of 1892 in a town in Massachusetts a
physical education teacher, Dr. James Naismith, at a YMCA school created a game where young men
could play indoors aside from going outside in the freezing cold. To be prepared for the game, Dr.
Naismith came up with some rules for the game, gathered two peach baskets for hoops, a soccer ball,
and coached the first basketball game in history. Dr. Naismith came up with thirteen rules. While four
out of the thirteen rules that he came up with, are no longer followed in today s version of basketball,
the nine that are left were slightly modified and are still in use today. The original thirteen rules are as
follows: The ball is thrown with both hands in any direction. The player can not run with the ball, so
they need to throw it where they caught it from. The ball is batted in any direction not with the fist but
with both hands. The ball is held in between your hands just not with the

There began to be a lot of clashes between the people, the way the Patricians ruled began to irritate the
Plebeians, bringing them to the edge of revolt. Lucius Sicinius Vellutus advised the plebeians to

panicked by this and dispatched Agrippa Menenius Lanatus, a former consul who was liked by the
Plebeians, they saw him as one of their own. Menenius was well received and told them the fable of
the belly and the limbs, comparing the people to the limbs who chose not to support the belly and thus
starved themselves, just as the belly and the limbs, the city could not survive without the Patricians
and Plebeians working together in unison. Plebeians negotiated for their return to the city under one

30. How Does Captain Nemo Show Honor
Captain Nemo: The Man Who Demonstrates Honor Perhaps one of the most superior personality traits
honor is sometimes overlooked. In Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, Brutus honor lives even
when he doesn t. After Brutus dies at Marc Antony s feet, he reminds people Brutus legacy was the
most honorable. This was the noblest Roman of them all: All the conspirators, save only he
[Brutus]...and common good to all, made one of them. (act 5, scene 5, lines 74 78) Similarly, in the
novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Captain Nemo exhibits a compelling persona through his arcane
history and honorable personality. Much like the classic green thumb farmer, diesel breathing gear
heads, or friendly, salty surfers of the west coast, Captain Nemo is the archetypal nautical equivalent
of honorable characters seen in famous movies such as Quint from Jaws and Santiago in The Old Man
and The Sea. With rigidity and an unknown past, Captain Nemo expresses positive characteristics that
almost everyone can learn from. In the late 1800s sailors and explorers used sea monsters and other
myths as an answer for the unknown. However, quite contradictory to a Leviathan or enormous
cetacean, (Verne, 23) Jules Verne brought a colossus of a submarine into the novel. This is the first
glimpse we get of Captain Nemo, the man behind the underwater vessel. Sophistication has been and
always will be something admired by society. Understanding Jules Verne s futuristic style of writing,
the audience as well as characters in the novel, for example Pierre Arronax honor Nemo, Monsieur, I
said to Captain Nemo, The honour of being the first to set foot on this land [Antarctica] belongs to
you, (Verne, 132). Having shortcomings to some magnitude, all humans try to strive to be better.
Captain Nemo shows this by taking Pierre as a world traveling companion. Honor is related closely
with admiration, because people respect others who overcome low points in life. Captain Nemo has an
arcane history granting him with experience and wisdom. The objective lens Captain Nemo uses to
evaluate every scenario is present throughout the novel. I am the law, I am the justice. (Verne, 197)

People are concerned about their safety, their students and families, Ritz said. I think people have

Andy Hart, Ph.D., Extension 4 H and youth development specialist, is a close friend and colleague of

34. The Soviet Leader Vladimir Lenin And The New Millennium Essay
Introduction: One step forwards, two steps back. This was the mantra of Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin
as he consolidated power during the 2nd Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party in
1903 (Lenin 1941). In the statement, Lenin illustrates the idea that every attempt or step towards
progress only succeeded in creating new challenges, new problems, out from the woodworks. Sixteen
years into the 21st Century, this catchphrase seems to be the running theme, or perhaps joke, of the
new millennium. The internet has connected all of humanity in ways that have never before been seen
throughout the history of mankind, yet it also opened the door for cyber terrorism, illegal surveillance,
and the efficient propagation of dangerous hateful ideologies. Progress in the field of medicine races
forwards at the speed of light, but pharmaceutical companies are greedy. They hold onto their patents
with vice grips and raise prices of essential medications while they cost only pennies to produce.
Progress is like Pandora s box in that it proliferates the spread of evil, greed, and corruption, while the
fragile hope that remains in the jar continues the human race in its attempts to move forward. We tell
ourselves, Maybe we ll get it right this time. This time we ll learn for our predecessors mistakes. Very
rarely do these hopes materialize. Politics, especially politics, have not escaped this one step forwards,
two steps back mantra. Laws have been put into place to protect

Japanese Americans had to leave the zone by direct and indirect force, and the government passed the
law which gave the military authority to move Nisei and Issei (34). Along with that, the Executive
Order 9012, passed in March, created the War Relocation Authority (WRA) (35). The WRA s job was
to take charge of the internees after they were moved to the camps (35). The Japanese American
Citizen League (JACL) tried to fight against it. However, because it was too young and they were
afraid that Americans would think they were really spies if they won t cooperate, JACL decided to
follow WRA (36). Furthermore, in March 27, DeWitt issued Public Proclamation Number 4 which
forced persons of Japanese ancestry to stay in military zone 1 after the end of the month, and on
March 27, DeWitt issued Exclusion Order Number 1 in which persons of Japanese ancestry were
moved from Washington to camp in Manzanar, California (37). During the war, there were more than
100 evacuation orders and, through this, the innocent Japanese Americans suffered the consequences
(37). Despite the abrupt news of internment, the Japanese Americans managed to quickly adapt to the
newly provided environment. One of the ways that the Japanese Americans adapted to their new
environment was by forming communities at the camps. This is one of the first things that the

36. Why Is College So Expensive If Students Are Paid So Little...
A Response to Michelle Chen A teacher has one of the most difficult and highest demanding jobs in
society. They are responsible for educating the future and giving their students the best chance to
succeed. However, many teachers and professors are not paid nearly as much as the demands placed
on them should indicate. Michelle Chen, in her piece from The Nation titled, Why Is College So
Expensive if Professors Are Paid So Little?, attempts to analyze the current issues with professors
wages in college and provide possible solutions. Although Chen presents some solid ideas, her work
suffers from her failure to address why college is so expensive, her inability to provide more than one
solution, and her overreliance on emotional aspects of the conflict. In her essay, Chen states a few
problems that can hardly be argued with: college is far too expensive and professors are paid much too
little. She focuses mostly on adjuncts, or part time professors, as it is in this area that many of the
problems reside. She writes, With student debt and tuitions both ballooning across the country, a
college degree is in many ways more expensive or overvalued today than ever. Unfortunately, she fails
to provide in depth analysis on why college is so costly to begin with. It is because of this shortcoming
that Chen s work is much weaker as a whole. Firstly, her title becomes misleading, and makes her a
possibly untrustworthy source. Secondly, her failure to acknowledge the reasons why college is so
expensive cuts off an entire possibility of solutions. Addressing where all this money is being spent
could provide an easier and stronger solution than the one Chen provides. When discussing a topic
such as this, there are an abundance of possible solutions that are worth taking a look at. Michelle
Chen, however, only decides to closely examine one: unionization of faculty. She says, [Layfield]
hopes that organizing with her union for a fair contract can ensure future generations of faculty will
face a richer career horizon. While unionization is certainly not a bad idea, Chen puts too much focus
on this one solution. She fails to even acknowledge other possible solutions, such as making cuts in
administrative budgets

37. The Importance Of Reflection In Nursing
As higher standards expected are from the public and higher patient safety demands are expected from
health boards, therefore, there is a need for a way of measuring standards of practice which can be
achieved through active thinking in a clinical environment brought about by critical reflection (Rolfe,
Jasper Freshwater 2011). Reflection has become such a key component in the role of a nurse that the
Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) have seen it fit to include it in their professional code of
conduct the Code: Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour for Nurses and Midwives,
hereafter referred to as the Code (Nursing Midwifery Council [NMC], 2015). With reflection being a
vital skill for nurses to continue their professional development (Parrish Crookes, 2013), an analysis
of what it means to reflect within nursing is needed by all who intend to enter the profession to ensure
its effective use is applied. This essay will look at what reflection in nursing looks like, why we use
reflection as a tool, what are the outcomes of reflecting, how we reflect effectively and what skills are
needed. Then, using an experience within practice, a reflective model will be used to analyse a critical
incident relating to consent. In accordance with the confidentiality measure within The code (NMC,
2015) and to abide by the Data Protection Act 1998, no information will be provided which could
allude to the identity of anyone within the critical incident, thus pseudonyms will be used where
appropriate. According to Howston Jones (2013) reflection is not something that is out of the ordinary
for everyone to do in their everyday lives. Reflection is the act of looking back on a situation, event or
incident critically and making sense of it to learn from it and alter our actions to gain better outcomes
should the same incident arise again (Capelhow, Crouch, Fisher Walsh, 2013). As new experiences
happen to everyone, everyday; it would be right to consider reflection as an ongoing process within
everyone s life, a process that is repeated, honed and a skill to be developed (McKenna, 1998).
Reflection is a tool that is used within many disciplines including teaching and within the legal
profession

38. My Experience At A University Level
This course has become a journey for me. It has been one of my first classes at a university level. I
have learned many valuable skills and lessons. I know they will be of great use to me in my further
years at college, and in life. First, I learned that if I follow instructions and meet the criteria that is
expected of me I can do very well. Secondly, I had the opportunity to learn how to develop a resume
for college and work use. Having a resume that is up to standards and knowing what I need to modify,
in the years to come, is extremely helpful when I am trying to obtain an occupation. Additionally, I
also obtained the knowledge and skills on how to conduct research. Learning how to use the OSU
library website to be able to find academic databases has been extremely helpful. I have learned how
to access the databases and be able to search and obtain what I need. Even though, my other classes
have not required me to conduct research, I may have to conduct research in the years to come.
Knowing how to navigate the website and conduct my research will make it easier. I am very pleased
with myself that I chose to do the extra credit that was offered. I knew that many professors did not
offer the opportunity to gain extra credit. When I heard how many opportunities and points that I
could potentially obtained I knew I had to try. Which, I am glad I did. The extra credit helped
tremendously. Seeing the results reflect on my grade made me realize that I was on the right track.

The understanding of the immigration issue is to focus on the problem entirely on the immigrants and
the administrative agencies charged with overseeing immigration law. The reason is that these are the
only roles present in the Immigration Problem Frame. As a humanitarian crisis, the solution could
involve The UN or the Organization of American States. Framing this as just an immigration problem
prevents them from penetrating deeper into the issue. The current situation can also be seen as civil
rights problem. Immigrants are assimilated into the American system, but are forced to live
underground and in the shadows because of their legal status. They are denied ordinary civil rights.
The immigration problem framing overlooks their basic human dignity. In conclusion the immigration
problem frame blocks the understanding of this issue as a cheap labor issue. Framing matters and the

They will then have an opportunity to face a ranking boxer; if they win they will be an amateur boxer
and start their career.
With more money means more taxes, and pulse the coaching fee, doctor fee, and the arena fee. Means
less for the boxer and if the boxer gets seriously injured in his matches he would have to pay extra for
staying in the hospital. The dangers about this sport is getting punched in the head and stomach
multiply times that can lead to broken ribs, swelling, painful stomach pains, hemming, skull fractures,
concussion, broken nose, and jaw bones. Boxers risk their lives to put on a show for the fans, but the
loser gets paid less or might not get paid depending on the contract. A boxer s worst fear is getting
seriously hurts and not being able to provide for their family. Some of them would spend more time in
the gym training with their coaches thinking of new ways of beating their opponents and gaining more
support from the fans, which takes away spending time with their family. All boxers wanted to
become the best boxer they can be and win lots of belts along with more money. But by doing that
puts their family in jeopardy of falling apart.
The best thing about this sport is being a V.I.P fan. A V.I.P. is a person who has won or earned the right
to choose what they want, and for boxing that means having front row seats to three matches, gift
bags, interviews with their favorite boxers, autographs, and after parties. With more fans

43. Are The Ewells Lazy And Irresponsible
The Ewells are a vile and hateful family that is an outcast in the town like the Radleys. If the Ewells
are two things they are lazy and irresponsible as well as mean. I will start with the Ewells laziness and
irresponsibility. First of all, the Ewell family has not earned a dollar themselves and it shows. The
Ewell kid at school was filthy with cloth scraps for clothes. The second reason they are lazy and
irresponsible is that they do not go to school unless they threatened by the sheriff to go. Even when
they are threatened by the sheriff they only go to the first day of school and then never again until next
year. The third and final reason is that they are walking trash heaps. The Ewell kid at school was so
filthy the author of ,To Kill

44. Ethnic Identity And Cultural Beliefs
Introduction: Around Twelve thousand years ago, human beings learn basic agriculture and animal
domestication. This allowed a human being to create societies which allowed ethnic groups to emerge.
An ethnic group is a group of people that share similar ancestry, physical traits, customs and cultures
with each other. A person s ethnicity is important to their identity since they grew up learning about
their ancestry s past and culture in order to understand social interaction and behavior. Culture s is
subunit to a Person s ethnicity since it is the knowledge, beliefs, and customs of the ethnic group s
history and experience. It influences a individual to speak a certain language, eat a specific diet, and
practice a religion that is important to their region. It can also help explain why a person wears a
specific design of clothing or interacts differently with people of the opposite sex since culture shapes
an individual s social behavior. It is a key block to a person s identity since it allows individuals to
connect to a community that has been practicing and spreading it since its conception. Many countries
today, such the United States, are home to dozens of ethnic groups and their culture. I have been
exposing too many ethnic groups and their cultures while growing up in Orange County but I never
realize their importance in our daily lives until I started to take ethnic studies courses in the
community college. That is where I begin to appreciate and straighten

45. External Influences Of Operations Management
Evaluate the Response of Operations Management to External Influences
Operations Management
Operations Management in an organisation is repsonsible for managing and in making decisions
concerning the activities that convert inputs into outputs , that is goods and services. This covers both
short term actvities as well as longer term activities to meet strategic goals. Inputs can be the raw
materaials need to manufacture goods such as furniture or the computers needed to create a service
like online shopping site. Operation management s role is to make decisions to improve how operation
activities function, for example, to improve the final quality of the output or to change production
methods to be more efficient in terms of cost and in time.
The role of operations management is vital in planning and managing the way that inputs for the
business are transformed. Ultimately, operations management is trying to achieve a competitive
advantage for their organisation through improved efficiencies, product quality, reduction of cost and
product differentiation.
Figure 1 Operations Management is key in the transformation process
External Influences
All businesses are affected by a series of external forces or influences. These influences may also
change over time and hence the way they interreact with an organisation can also change. Operations
Management will use a variery of measurements to monitor external influences to help them respond
to these changes, for example, at times of slow hire rates for employees in time of high employment,
operation Management may re train other internal staff to make up shortfalls [Kydos, P29].
External influences cover a wide variety of factors, and their influence can differ between business
types. These include the following:
Globalisation
Technology
Customer quality expectations
Legal Regulations
Government Policies
Environment sustainability
Cost based competition
Corporate social responsibility
Quality Expectations
Some examples of external influences are now examined in detail.

47. Dances With Wolves Research Paper
Dances With Wolves
Directed by Actor, first time director, Kevin Costner this 1990 film takes place in the northern states of
the US. Costner s movie is based on a book written by Michael Blake, by the same title. The story is
about a union army lieutenant and a Lakota Indian tribe, which Costner changes to a Sioux tribe. In
order for Kevin Costner to complete the filming of this movie, and due to unforeseen delays, he paid
out of his own pocket $3 million dollars to complete the film. The actor stars in, directs, and produces
this film. I believe Costner felt that he completely must take full ownership of it and do what was best
for his film. In the end, it paid off, the movie grossed well over $400 million and won numerous
awards.
Kevin Costner plays the lead roll of Lieutenant John J. Dunbar a wounded Civil War soldier. Injured
in war, they were going to amputate his leg. Wanting nothing to do with an amputation he chooses
suicide instead. His choice of suicide is to taunt the enemy while in the midst of a Confederate battle.

Timmons who takes him to Fort Sedgwick. Upon their arrival, they are met by, a completely
abandoned fort. Timmons, not seeing what the lieutenant sees in this fort, wants to leave. Dunbar
directs him to unload the rations from the wagon because he would be staying. Timmons does as

48. Honesty, Honesty And Honesty
Honesty, honesty, honesty. That s all we, as evolving adolescents in society, hear from our parents,
teachers, and coaches. The demonstration of honesty among all people of all ages, simultaneous along
with the performance of integrity, compassion, and other powerful traits, is one of the most influential
and difficult Laws of Life to endure. Mahatma Gandhi put this into words wonderfully, suggesting
that, It is difficult, but not impossible, to conduct strictly honest business. The Laws of Life, honesty,
in particular, are not only difficult to attain, but are also the foundation stones of a functional and
upbuilding society. Honesty is a valuable character trait that benefits both the one displaying it as well

After that day, I considered honesty one of my biggest priorities. Come today, I have been in a much
improved peace of mind, and have connected with my brother much more. Honesty is not always easy,
for no one ever wants to get in trouble or let someone down. Nevertheless, there is no greater feeling
than laying the truth off your back. Because of Drew, I have been able to exert honesty, which comes
with other traits, such as compassion and bravery, in my daily life. Although I admit I am not perfect,
nor remotely close to it, I do believe, from the bottom of my heart, that honesty is the best policy.
Honesty is considered a Law of Life because it is a propitious and positive principle that guides
behavior towards a truly successful life. Mary Kay Ash, an extremely successful businesswoman,
exemplarily fostered honesty and trust in her life. She wrote, Honesty is the cornerstone of all success,
without which confidence and ability to perform shall cease to exist. Mary shows, clearly, how
honesty is a prominent Law of Life and how it is a necessary principle to follow in order to achieve
success. Although dishonest people may have immediate success in whatever field they are in, his or
her mistake will reveal itself in the end game. People who exert honesty and virtue, on the other hand,
are respected and end up successful and contented in the end game. These powerful people also have
