Strong Relationships In Celie By Alice Walker
Zainab Beg
Marchand 8th
25 March 2015
English III Honors
Walker uses characterization and diction to illustrate how strong relationships can help individuals
overcome hardships.
Walker emphasizes the importance of having relationships with significant others through the use of
diction to characterize Nettie. There is so much to tell you that I don t know... but if this do get
through, one thing I want you to know, I love you, and I am not dead. And Olivia is fine and so is your
son (Walker 119). Nettie s love for Celie is unconditional. She reassures Celie of any misleading
thoughts or insecurities she may endure. Throughout Celie s letters, even while Nettie leaves for thirty
years, their relationship is constant and mutual. Regardless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Long as I can spell G O D I got somebody along (Walker 18). As the story begins, Celie feels as if the
only place she can express her true feelings is with God. She purposes that she can trust him and turn
to him when no other person will understand. Similarly to Nettie s doubts of her sister thinking she s
dead, Celie invokes that God is the only reliable source in her life. The letters begin with Celie
addressing herself to God because she s ashamed to tell anyone else (Bloom 54). As time goes on, she
becomes less reliant on God, and more independent when it comes to thoughts and intentions. Well, us
talk and talk about God, but I m still adrift. Trying to chase that old white man out of my head. I been
so busy thinking bout him I never truly notice nothing God make. Not a blade of corn (how it do that?)
not the color purple (where it come from?) (Walker 198). Attempting to escape the image of God as a
white male which she cannot relate to, Celie envisions God as the creator of all beauty. She used to
associate God with all the previous abuses from men, ranting to God about her many struggles with
life. She now takes time to appreciate, rather than denigrate, all of His blessings on earth, and how
truly lucky she is after all. Celie also associates His entity

The Battle Between Bottled Water And Tap Water
When enjoying themselves in amusement parks and water parks, when people get thirsty they tend to
grab the easiest thing at their disposal bottled water, and many different brands to choose from.
Likewise, during the night when people don t want to make the full trek into the kitchen to grab some
water, they just head to the sink and cup their hands to drink the tap water. It s an easy decision at that
moment, people just know that they re thirsty and that they want the nearest source of water. Are these
people really choosing the safest water for their health though? The battle between bottled water and
tap water has since long been a debate, and many people don t know what possible health implications
could be from what they re ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In study by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in 1999, it revealed that twenty two
percent of the one thousand water bottles being tested contained an alarming amount of chemicals that
surpassed the health limit in one or more states. In addition, out of one hundred and three brands that
were tested, at least eighteen of them were found to have had contained microbiological contaminants,
once again exceeding the health limits (Hyder). Although the study is a bit older, the problem of
finding chemicals in bottled water has continued. Since the year 2000, there have been nine outbreaks
due to contamination in bottled water (Commercially Bottled Water). In 2004, Coca Cola withdrew its
own water bottle brand because of concerns about a possible carcinogen in the water (Ward, Owen,
Ryan et al). Carcinogens are substances and exposures that can lead to cancer , and the fact that it was
a concern in a popular water bottle brand could result in dangerous outcomes (Known and
Probable...).
Further proving contaminations in bottled water is another study in 2008 done by the Environmental
Working Group (EWG) they analyzed the content of several water bottle brands. Some samples
bought in California went over the limits for bottled water contaminants in that state, along with
contaminants that could possibly cause cancer found in

Preventing Violence in the Workplace
Violence in the workplace is a growing trend among American businesses that needs the prompt
attention of individuals, governments, and corporations alike. In fact it is so serious that violence in
the workplace in recent years has grown to be the second leading cause of death in the workplace
(Baron, Hoffman, Merrill, 2000). Responding to this epidemic will take a tailored dynamic approach
that must be embraced by employees and management alike. First, we must understand exactly what
constitutes workplace violence and understand some common triggers from past cases. Second,
employees and managers must know and understand what signs they must be aware of that could
escalate into workplace violence through effective and recurring ... Show more content on

Unfortunately, these employees had not been briefed in symptom recognition of potentially violent
behavior, nor given instructions on how to report such information (Mattman, 2001). Several of these
key behaviors include, but are not limited to: drug/alcohol abuse, depression, increased absenteeism,
threats or verbal abuse, signs of mental illness, paranoia, projecting their problems onto others namely
management. If most companies took a proactive stance at mitigating workplace violence there could
be a significant reduction in the occurrences of these events.
Preventing workplace violence has to be executed around a dynamic approach in which multiple
factors are combined to place workers in a safe working environment. The first and most
comprehensive tool that every organization should have is a workplace violence policy. An effective
workplace violence policy has two main focal points. First, good policies provide clear guidelines for
expected behavior, definitions of unacceptable behavior, and outline the penalties for violating the
policy (Baron, Hoffman, Merrill, 2000). This is imperative and must be communicated constantly to
all employees. An employee s initial immersion into the policy should occur before they begin to work
for the job they were hired to do. Every organization s

Joseph Louis Lagrange s Life
Joseph Louis Lagrange was born on January 25, 1736 in Turin, Piedmont Sardinia, also known as
Italy, to Giuseppe Francesco Lodovico Lagrange and Maria Theresa Gros. He died died at Paris on
April 10, 1813, and he rests in the Panthéon in Paris. His name is Giuseppe Lodovico Lagrangia in
French, but he is known as Joseph Louis Lagrange. Lagrange s father was a Treasurer in the Office of
Public Works while his mother did not work, but her father was a doctor in Camiano. Lagrange was
the eldest child as he had a living sibling, but he had nine other late siblings. Lagrange s family was
not financially wealthy, so his father wished him to become a lawyer. Therefore, Lagrange registered
at the University of Turin to become a lawyer, but he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lagrange began to be recognized for his studies and work in mathematics so that at the age of
nineteen, he was selected to be a professor at the Royal Artillery School in Turin. Thus, Lagrange s
career began.
Lagrange accomplished many things throughout his career and life that should not be duly noted. As a
professor, Lagrange taught mechanics and calculus. However, his impatience tested his teaching
methods as it started to create problems with students liking his classes. The following year in 1756,
Lagrange sent some of his work to colleague, Leonhard Euler, who then sent it to the French
mathematician, Pierre Louis Moreau de Maupertuis, the President of the Berlin Academy, now known
as the Prussian Academy of Sciences. Vastly impressed by the work of Lagrange, Maupertuis invited
him to Prussia to become a figure there. Such an invitation would probably have made him more
widely known in the science world during that time, but Lagrange courteously declined the invitation
as he was content with his life in Turin. Nevertheless, on September 2, 1756, Lagrange was elected to
the Berlin Academy. The next year, 1757, Lagrange formed the Royal Academy of Sciences of Turin
which was much alike the Berlin Academy. Lagrange s work during this period covered a variety of
topics, such as calculus of variations, calculus of probabilities and foundations of dynamics. Later, he
also worked on fluid mechanics, linear differential equations,

Theme Of The Wooing Of Ariadne
Don t miss out on something that could be amazing, just because it could also be difficult . This quote
is very prominent in this story, by telling the story of a guy fighting for a girl s heart. Harry Petrakis
explained very important themes in The Wooing of Ariadne . These themes are very deep with love
thought out the story, such as how men are animals, always tell the truth , and persistence can pay off.
The first theme is men are animals when they are obsessed with love. Men sometimes do not stop until
they get what they want and this is very true in this story. A lot of times in this story men are referred
to as animals, because of our nature of how a man acts. Most times it is not good to be referred to as
an animal, but marko does not listen and keeps acting like one. Ariadne explains to Marko what she is
thinking, It could be your appearance, which bears considerable resemblance to a gorilla, or your
manner, suggest closer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Persistence pays off when people get what they are fighting for. Marko never once stop fighting his
love for Ariadne. Even when all odds were against him, he kept fighting. Marko talking to himself, I
ignored them all. In that winged and zestful moment I had eyes only for my beloved, for Ariadne,
blossom of my heart and black eyed flower of my soul (6). When everyone was telling him to leave
Ariadne alone, he knew he could not of done this and he kept fighting for her love and in the end it
pays off. In the end of his fight for Ariadne s love and when he was about to leave and end the fight he
heard Ariadne say something that made him one happy man. Ariadne yelling to Marko, You may call
me tomorrow (6). When Marko heard this was so happy that his hard work the love of ariadne finally
paid off and he can hang out with her. Finally this last theme about Persistence tells about how people
should never if they really love something and that is what Marko did, never gave

Flourishing Summary Sparknotes
Summary
Flourishing is written by two authors who propose a radical approach to considering sustainability.
They do not see the problem as simply corporations causing harm to the environment, as it appears on
the surface. They propose that the root problem within our society exists within our culture. A major
part of the book specifically tackles the way society has applied the concepts of capitalism. Originally
where society consisted of relationships between different individuals, individuals and nature, and
individuals and themselves, the application of capitalism, along with the drive from corporations
towards consumerism, has created a culture in which satisfaction stems from Having more as oppose
to simply Being . The book proposes we are no longer focussed on being satisfied with ourselves, and
satisfied with what we have, whether it be the relationships around us or the items we possess.
To solve these problems and the detriment to the environment that stems from them, the authors call
for a complete paradigm shift in our current way of living. To start off that shift they interpret the
definition of sustainability as being too limiting. They instead introduce the term of sustainability as
flourishing. This is basically a state in which an individual feels a sense of ... Show more content on

The idea that we need to change ourselves completely, from our current consumerism culture, our
ways of Having to ways of Being, has opened my eyes to not only how much needs to be done, but
how it needs to be done. We as individuals need to change our ways of thinking in order for society to
change its ways of operation, as society is nothing but a group of individuals. Although we are
embedded in our traditional ways, this book gives me hope that change is possible and I, myself, can
initiate that

The Way I See It, Each City Is A Clean Slate

Here in New York, I m living the idealistic Tumblr aesthetic lifestyle, in my studio apartment with an

Sheep Heart Dissection
Sheep Heart Dissection Purpose: Sheep have a four chambered heart, just like humans. By studying
the anatomy of a sheep s heart, you can learn about how your own heart pumps blood through your
body and keeps you alive!. Procedure Observation: External Anatomy Most heart diagrams show the
left atrium and ventricle on the right side of the diagram. Imagine the heart in the body of a person
facing you. The left side of their heart is on their left, but since you are facing them, it is on your right.
1. Identify the right and left sides of the heart. Look closely and on one side you will see a diagonal
line of blood vessels that divide the heart. The half that includes all of the apex (pointed end) of the
heart is the left ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Locate the mitral valve (or bicuspid valve) between the left atrium and ventricle. This will have two
flaps of membrane connected to papillary muscles by tendons. 4. Insert a probe into the aorta and
observe where it connects to the left ventricle. Make an incision up through the aorta and examine the
inside carefully for three small membranous pockets. These form the aortic semilunar valve which
prevents blood from flowing back into the left ventricle. Blood Flow Now consider all the parts you
ve found and how the blood flows through them. Draw a diagram of the heart and use red and blue
arrows to show the flow of blood: → deoxygenated blood (color blue) → oxygenated blood (color
red) Blood flows from the tissues → superior and inferior vena cava → right atrium → tricuspid valve
→ right ventricle → pulmonary semilunar valve → pulmonary artery → lungs → pulmonary veins →
left atrium → bicuspid (mitral) valve → left ventricle → aortic semilunar valve → aorta →body
tissue. Questions: 1. Describe the location of the heart in the thoracic cavity. 2. Why is the wall of the
left ventricle thicker than the wall of the right ventricle? 3. What type of tissue is the heart made of? 4.
Trace the journey of a RBC traveling from the lungs in the pulmonary vein all the way back to the
pulmonary artery on the way back to the lungs. List all the chambers and vessels it will pass through.

How Dangerous Is Salt Water for Our Kidneys
Our bodies, specifically the kidneys, have the amazing ability to conserve or get rid of water when
needed through two key mechanisms. These two important players are the the loop of Henle in the
nephron and the anti diuretic hormone (ADH) that is secreted by the pituitary gland of our endocrine
system. Our renal and endocrine systems are always working together to maintain homeostasis and
keep the ions and other substances inside our body balanced, but coping with extremely high amounts
of sodium is challenging and hard on our bodies. Although consuming a very small amount of
saltwater will not kill you, drinking large quantities of saltwater is never to be advised. The structure
of the loop of Henle in the nephron has the ability to either filter out or keep ions within the loop.
First, the dilute filtrate goes through the glomerulus of the nephron where it is losing water, glucose,
hormones, and other ions in the proximal convoluted tubule. It travels down the descending limb of
the loop which is only permeable to water. Water is reabsorbed out passively leaving the filtrate
extremely concentrated with sodium and chloride ions. The filtrate then travels back up the ascending
limb which is permeable to ions and not to water. The sodium and chloride ions are filtered out and
absorbed actively at this stage. By the time the filtrate reaches the distal convoluted tubule, it is dilute
again. It then travels down the collecting duct. It concentrates the sodium and chloride out

Climate Change And The Environment
By 2050 the population of the world is expected to be 9.3 billion people. As the population of the
world continues to grow so will the demand for resources. Resources such as land for agriculture,
fresh water, and the most important fossil fuels are becoming scare. In order for the resources that we
still have available to last, we as a society have to change the way we are using the resources. Not
only do we have to make the resources last for future generations, but we also need to learn how to
become less dependent on the resources since they are causing great harm to the environment. In order
to slow the pace of climate change, we as a society have to change how we do things in order to
confront climate change.

Even A list celebrities are taking notice that climate change is a serious problem that is facing this
generation. Climate change is real, it is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our
entire species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating. Leonardo DiCaprio.
The well known actor is taking the advantage of the fact that he is a public figure to get the voice out
that climate change is a serious problem and that society needs to do something to change the fate of
the world. Many actors and actresses are not as open with their political views and only express their
views when it has become a problem. Had they expressed their views sooner than we could have
prevented some of the problem. There are many different ways that we as a society could slow down
the pace of climate change. One of the different ways is carpooling to and from work with co workers.
This is an easy solution to the increasing use of fossil fuel. Average workers travels 39 miles to work,
and when gas is $3.00 per gallon the average household is paying $5.32 each day for gas alone.

Development of the European Union
What would become the European Union developed out of a need to negate the war making potential
of European powers, namely Germany as well as to foster economic recovery in countries whose
economies were all but destroyed. It was thought that tying the main armaments making resources,
coal and steel, together in a supernational organisation responsible for its management would serve
both roles. It has been developing since 1951 and keeps evolving. What one sees as a transformation
from something similar to a customs union not too unlike Benelux, to a political union and finally a
monetary union, albeit an incomplete one. The fundamental bodies that comprise what is now the
European Union are still for the most part based on the spirit of the Treaties of Rome. The
development of the EU as whole will be explored as well as the bodies that comprise it. How those
bodies have improved as well as any weaknesses that still characterise them will be explained.
As mentioned above what would become the EU began as the European Coal and Steel Community in
1952. With the signing of the Treaty of Paris, the framework was laid for a common administration
amongst European states. With coal and steel being two of the most crucial commodities in the wars
that tore the continent apart in the 20th Century, it seemed a logical place to start. A supernational
authority, known as the High Authority made decisions by which member states would be bound,

The fourth window is the Helpful Advice window, this window gives you information on Sniffy s state
whether he made an association or not and instructions on what to do.
Procedure
We started this experiment by conducting magazine training with Sniffy. The Magazine training
technique was used in order for Sniffy to make the association between the sound of the food hopper
with food. Every time Sniffy approached the food hopper a food pallet would be delivered through the
pressing of the space bar. We waited until the Sound Food bar association on the Operant Associations
mind window reached 3/4 s of the way. This meant that the association between sound and food was
strong enough to begin helping shape Sniffy s behavior. This file was saved to be used later in the
training of Sniffy to press the bar himself.
Using the previously saved file some adjustments were made before training Sniffy. The session was
adjusted to the Design Operant Conditioning Experiment with the Reinforcement Schedule set to
Continuous. The Recorded Shaping Behavior was set to Press Bar in order to begin training Sniffy to
press the bar. Sniffy was first rewarded only when Sniffy would rear up facing the wall where the bar
and hopper were located. Later Sniffy would be rewarded when he reared closer and

Overview of the Natural Gas Industry
Natural Gas Industry Employee
Cover Letter
I am currently working as a natural gas regulator assistant inspector on a full time basis. Basically this
position required me to work in a formal apprenticeship, and I was trained and became familiarized
with all the important particulars of this job.
What my trainers made very clear to me is the importance of workers in the natural gas industry
having a deep understanding of all the implications relating to safety. There have been some
catastrophic explosions due to leaking gas pipelines in recent years, and energy companies want to
hire people that are very alert, intelligent, and who are willing to learn and be good listeners during
training and once on the job.
I am one of those quality employees. I feel fortunate to have this position, and moreover, I have
conducted research into the industry giving particular attention to the specifics of my own job, duties
and responsibilities and I present that information through this report. Learning well, following
directions, and being competent are things my family taught me, and I do believe I am well suited for
my position and will be able to climb the ladder and be given more responsibility as time goes by and
my supervisors become confident in my aptitude and my work ethic.
Abstract
The position of a natural gas regulator assistant inspector is a very important position because in
addition to the quality assurance and economic aspects, there are important safety aspects

Revention for any Computer System Failure Essay
In companies, there are several problem in computer system. Companies need to take in order to
prevent any computer system failure. The first way to prevent is, adequate backup. The most common
problem experienced by the company when they do not do any back up. The best way to ensure safety
is to make a backup of the can. In the event of any threat or destruction cannot be saved, with the
backup will not be a problem.
Secondly is test your backup data. After backing up, you should test your backups by performing data

Fifth way to prevent is using a firewall. A firewall is a system, or group of system that enforces an
access control policy between two networks. It is commonly used as a barrier between a secure
corporate intranet or other internal networks and the internet, which is unsecured. Firewalls
functioning by deciding what traffic to permit into and out of the network and what traffic block.
Firewalls need to be configured to enforce the company security procedures and policies. Firewall will
block threats and malicious hackers. You should make sure the firewall kept between the Internet and
your computer, also other users. Your data will be safe from the outside and you do not need to have
problems to cope with the threat.
The other way to prevent is, do not share or allow any network access to any unknown users. Your
computer data maybe expose to theft and modification. Anyone on the Internet can access your files or
data freely. If you receive any emails or spamming with the attachment from unknown senders, do not
open it. It may contain virus or they can detect your data through it. If they managed to detect your
computer, this will give you big problems. You will have difficulty if there is important information
you scattered.
Furthermore, you need to beware of user error. Often that company engineer is the main problems. A
common way that users always lose their data is when they are doing any editing a document and
accidentally delete the portions of data. After

its place in a future society. The main character Rick Deckard internalizes this conflict inevitably
progressing the story. Even though the end of the novel does not disclose Deckard s future, one can

does not require reciprocation. In beginning of the novel Deckard s wife wife describes him as a
murderer rationalizing his job Deckard defends himself by saying I ve never killed a human being in
my life (Dick 5). After killing android singer Luba Luft, Deckard questions how can a talent like that
be a liability to our society? (Dick 137). Deckard hunts the more intelligent androids to protect

Why did the English have such difficulties establishing colonies in the Chesapeake?
During the sixteenth century and the start of the seventeenth, the European nations quickly conquered
the newly discovered Americas. England sent out groups to the coast of North America to the
Chesapeake and the New England area. Later on in the 1700 s the two places would began to mold
into one, even though they were very different at the start.
Chesapeake region colonies included Virginia, Maryland and New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. And in

Andrew Jackson And Theadore Roosevelt Essay
Andrew Jackson and Theodore Roosevelt were two men with very many things in common. They both
were Presidents in the United States of America at some point in time. They each have served many
years as some sort of governor with Jackson being the military governor of Florida and Roosevelt
being the governor of New York. Roosevelt and Jackson were major influences towards this country.
But even with those similarities between them they were two men with differences. One was a big
military man while the other was an author with eighteen books written and a few other attributes. All
of these are just a few examples of how important these men were and how their related or not. The

Another unique occurrence during Andrew Jackson s term was how for the first time the United States

only time in the U.S.history that this has ever occurred. Opposite of Theodore Roosevelt, Andrew
Jackson was a leader of the Democratic Party. Andrew Jackson was the man that implemented the

David stated I ll knock you down and cut off your head, this quote shows that David had all faith that

Treatment Of Drug Use And Drug Abuse Essay
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (2012), the intention of drug addiction treatment is
to help addicted individuals stop compulsive drug use and drug seeking behavior (p. 8). Substance use
is a timeless practice of cultures around the world and can be found in religious ceremonies,
celebratory engagements, and family gatherings. Substance abuse and addiction has also been lurking
in the shadows of history and has morphed into what some are calling an epidemic today. Treatment
for addiction is a necessary service all over the world, but the methods and modalities of its practice
have changed throughout history often being molded by federal policy. In the following pages I will
discuss some of these changes to treatment in the 20th century in the United States.
According to Henninger and Sung (2014), in the late 1940s the Minnesota Model was introduced as a
new method to treat alcoholism. The Minnesota Model included mutual respect for participants
instead of shame and degradation. One of the first facilities to utilize the Minnesota Model was
Willmar State Hospital in Minnesota. The Willmar State Hospital staff eventually developed the model
which was based on insisting that treatment include a multidisciplinary and holistic approach.
The staff at Willmar also believed that professionalization of addiction treatment was necessary to
appropriately treat patients. This progression of change to the Minnesota Model would mean that

Common Symptoms and Damages of Measles Essay
The Latin name for measles is rubeola. The pathogen which causes the disease is a paramyxovirus,
which is one of a group of RNA (ribonucleic acid) viruses. Measles is a respiratory disease caused by
a virus, and also comes out in a rash. The virus enters the body via the respiratory system, and grows
in the cells at the back of the throat and in the cells that line the lungs, from there it then enters the
blood stream and circulates the body.
Common Symptoms
Usually a person doesn t start to get symptoms of measles until they have been infected with the virus
for 7 11 days. The symptoms are:
Runny nose
Dry hacking cough
Sore throat lymph nodes swell
Sneezing
Fever this can be mild or severe and can reach 105Fº ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(see image 1)
The symptoms usually last about 2 weeks in all.
Rare Symptoms
There are more serious symptoms of having mumps, but although these are more severe they are also
a lot less common.
The rare or uncommon symptoms include:
Encephalitis inflammation of the brain
Inflammation of the nervous system
Infection of the middle ear
A very high fever
Severe headache
Breathing difficulty
Long term damage disabilities
It is very important to immunise against this disease not only because it is a very contagious virus but
because it can have some very serious long term effects.
The most serious of these is obviously death, and people can and do die from measles; there are 1
million deaths worldwide caused by measles.
Also measles can cause deafness because of the inner ear infection.
Another long term damage of measles could be SSPE (Subacute Sclerosing Panencaphilitis). This can
occur 2 to 10 years after contracting the measles virus, this results in progressive neurological
deterioration because of brain inflammation.
Common side effects of the vaccine
Although it is very important to immunise against this disease, the vaccine does have side effects, and
no vaccine is completely safe. The Measles vaccine is given as part of the MMR vaccine, which
protects against measles, mumps and rubella. The common and less severe side effects are; fever; mild
rash; temporary pain or stiffness of joints,

The Challenges Of Tour Guides In The Tourism And...
The Tourism and Hospitality Industry is one of the largest industries in the country. This industry is
one of the key front line players which contributes greatly to the growth of the economy of a country.
They are the vital source of income for both government and private sectors. People often mistaken
that the duty of the profession in the tourism and hospitality to be somewhat similar, that is to serve
clients but in fact, there is actually a vast difference between the roles of a tour guide, travel tour
manager and travel agency manager.
According to Sokanu (2017), tour guides are individuals who work in the travel industry, giving
guided tours to groups of visitors and typically the residents of the region in which they give tours.
Tour guides have the ability to transform the tourists visits from a tour to a life long experience
through the delivery of knowledge and interpretations of the attractions and culture at the destinations
with their communication and service skills. A tour guide s duties highly depend on their employer
and location. The three prime areas of specialization in the guiding industry are corporate ... Show

The Indian Removal And The Colonization Of The United...
Between the years 1816 and 1850, over one hundred thousand Indians from sixty different tribes were
relocated from their homelands and moved west; around thirty thousand Indians would die en route.
The Indian Removal stands as one of the cruelest periods in the history of the United States, and is the
result of a long history of war and disagreement between whites and Indians.
Indians and Europeans had their differences. The culture of the Indian tribes was very different than
that of the incoming white settlers. Indian nations held a deep respect for nature, and felt that the land
belonged to no individual. The white European settlers believed in private land ownership. However,
in spite of these differences, some white settlers and Indians developed successful trade relationships.
Still, Indians were long regarded as savages by white Europeans . Spaniards treated them with extreme
brutality, imprisoning Indians and confiscating their lands. And as time passed, Indians and Europeans
would begin to fight over land claims.
200 years later, Indians and Europeans had several written treaties, but the Europeans often ignored
the treaties and encroached on Native territory. Indians sought ways to stop the settlers from taking
their lands, sometimes turning to war.
In the American Revolutionary War, most Indians fought on the side of the British. Indians believed
that Britain was the better option for winning the war, as they hoped the British would help curb the
expansion of

Liver Injury Research Paper
Liver plays a central role in transforming and clearing chemicals and is consequently susceptible to
the toxicity induced from these agents. Chemicals that cause liver injury are termed hepatotoxins, and
more than 900 drugs have been implicated in causing liver injury and it is the most common reason
for a drug to be withdrawn from the market. Chemicals often cause subclinical injury to liver which
may be manifest by abnormal liver enzyme tests. Certain medicinal agents when taken in overdoses
and sometimes even when introduced within therapeutic ranges may injure the organ. Other chemical
agents such as those used in laboratories and industries, natural chemicals (e.g. microcystins) and
herbal remedies can also induce hepatotoxicity (e.g. Lycopodiumserratum and Ephedra equisetina). ...

mechanisms may be cited to be responsible for either inducing hepatic injury or worsening the damage

The Revolution Of The 1960 S
The Young in the 1960 s
Many people believe the 1960s, were the golden age but, contrary, by the end of the decade, it seemed
like the The United States was falling apart. That could be one of the reason why different groups
were growing with new ideas, demands and of course many reforms. Student activists became more
and more radical. They protested over colleges, massive antiwar demonstrations and occupied various
public places to make their revolutionary ideas visible and to be heard. In 1960s, the new radicalism
took place. New groups of students became to gather, such as the Young Americans for Freedom
(YAF) and Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) two years later. Both groups were viewed as the
leading edge of a new radicalism. These group believed they had a new route to greater freedom. The
students documented and summarized their beliefs and what some called the New Left. They believed
the participatory democracy was the real social change. By the mid 1960s, facing growing opposition
among the young to the war in Vietnam, they were viewed as a rebellion force. They became more
militant and active in social issues and politics. Some demonstrations were violent and even people
died. The young group became a strong force in The United Stated and, also other countries. Also,
changed their physical appearance by growing their hair, used drugs and, practice free love. In the

of this. Many employees are leaving the companies they work for, or aren t working to the best of

businesses and increasing employee morale and production. Despite the fact that there are losses when

Shale And The Shale Gas Boom
Fracturing Shale
Marcellus Shale, also known, as the Marcellus Formation, is black, organically rich, shale that exists
underneath the surface of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland,
Tennessee, and Virginia. The shale is located roughly one mile below the surface of these states and
has an estimated 141 trillion cubic feet of attainable natural gas. As of 2015, Marcellus shale gas wells
were reportedly yielding 14.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day ( Marcellus Shale Appalachian
Basin Natural Gas Play ). This shale discovery is known as one of the largest natural gas reserves in
the United States, and this underground gas is now reachable thanks to hydraulic fracturing and
horizontally drilling. These two techniques, when used in combination, have enabled gas producers to
extract shale gas both rapidly and economically ( The Marcellus Shale Gas Boom ). Although, there
are many myths and disagreements with the way America gets this natural gas, it has proven to have
more advantages than disadvantages.
Marcellus Shale is an excellent resource because natural gas is a clean energy source. When natural
gas is burned, it emits only half the amount of CO2 ( E Forum: Pros and Cons ). Natural gas tends to
be much cleaner than crude oil, generally making the environment better. The less carbon dioxide in
the air, the slower Earth will become warmed and certain regions won t become dryer or even wetter

A child is reported as having active epilepsy if their guardian reports they have a history of diagnosed

main categories: generalized onset seizures, focal onset seizures and unknown onset seizures.
Generalized seizures affect both sides of the brain at the same time (Type of Seizures, 2017). Focal
seizures begin in only one part or section of the brain (Type of Seizures, 2017). Focal seizures can

The Family Systems Theory During The Mid 20th Century
Murray Bowen, an American psychiatrist, began developing what would become known as the family
systems theory during the mid 20th century. He believed that the family was an emotional unit and
that it could be best understood by looking not just at current family interactions but the interactions of
prior generations as well (Helm, 2009). His focus was on using theory, not therapy, to treat the patient
and the cornerstone of that theory is that human behavior is based on a person being able to maintain
intimacy with loved ones while differentiating themselves sufficiently as individuals so as not to be
swept up by what is transpiring within the family (p. 205).
At both the Menninger Clinic and the National Institute of Mental Health, Bowen became interested in
schizophrenia specifically in relation to the mother and child. He soon realized that he needed to focus
on the entire family rather than just mother and child to provide a more accurate picture for his
research. The Bowen Family Systems theory was born of this realization. The basic premise of the
family systems theory is that the therapist cannot fully understand or successfully treat the client
without first grasping how that individual functions within their family system.
To this end, Bowen postulated eight interlocking concepts for the family as an emotional unit and they
are differentiation of self, triangles, nuclear family emotional process, family projection process,
emotional cutoff, multigenerational

The Birth Control Pill
According to the Oxford American College Dictionary, power is the capacity or ability to direct or
influence the behavior of others or the course of events. In order to gain the most power humanly
possibly you do not have to be remembered, your action needs to be remembered. Power is the ability
to help others benefit out of an action. If given the opportunity to go back in time to irrevocably alter
the future, I would take the opportunity to invent the birth control pill in advance of time. During
World War II U.S. soldiers were supplied with condoms, another way of birth control, however it s
less effective than other methods we have now, such as the pill. Harvard historian Allan Brandt wrote
in No Magic Bullet: A Social History of Venereal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From 1955 1965, 42% of Americans of reproductive age relied on condoms for birth control. In
Britain from 1950 1960, 60% of married couples used condoms (Condoms and Sponges). Although
the idea of this pill was before World War II, the pill was made available to the public in 1960. If those
using condoms were aware of the stronger ability the pill had over the condom, the pill would have all
power. Condom selling companies would try to overpower us with their promotion during World War
II but to prevent that we would use propaganda and allow the public to see statics of being
impregnated using these two methods. Although the FDA or allied soldiers would want to ban this pill,
mass pills would be made and distributed to all locals.
Some benefits of providing women with the pill would be less suffrage of children of unplanned
pregnancies. The greater use of the pill and evidence showing it works would possibly lead to a
different population throughout the world. The pill would definitely be not expensive to provide for
all.
Inventing the birth control pill before it was approved by the FDA and during a time necessary would
gain me the most power humanly possibly: not because I, myself am powerful, but because that tiny
pill is most

The Giver Dystopian
In our English class we read The Giver . Usually novels that are obligatory at school tend to be boring
or too technical, but honestly this novel was different. I loved it. From the first chapter I wanted to
continue till the end. I was mesmerized by the core topic and once we analyzed it, that s when I
decided I would choose this as my written task topic.
What is a utopia actually? A utopia by definition means a perfect world with no flaws where everyone
lives a perfect life. In the book The Giver people discuss whether it s a utopian setting or a dystopian
setting. A dystopia is the exact opposite of utopia. A world that is imperfect with flaws. Basically, the
world we live in. We live with war and pain and with a political system full of flaws. Whereas a
utopian world is an imaginary world, best described as paradise.
I chose to write my own utopia, a small short story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well because my people have to experience everything; the heat of the sun, the freezing cold of the
snow, and sunny days in the fall. There are certain rules in my world. Families here can only have two
children to avoid mass population and anything that contributes to global warming does not exist. We
have a good education system where pupils are divided in groups to learn only what they want. They
start school at the age of ten and have two years to learn all subjects. They then decide what they want
to study to perfect it. I have tried to simplify life for my people and don t want them to suffer.
Everyone gets a job and no one is homeless. People get paid the same and live like one. I don t differ
between men and women. I don t have rich or poor. They are all equal. As for the political system we
follow democracy as you would call it but our motto here is live life to the fullest. We have acres of
lands and everyone is taught the art of farming so as to avoid hunger. Our food is all freshly grown, so
people avoid eating unhealthy

Racial Diversity Research Paper
Racial Diversity
Race is a part of our culture that shapes who we are as a society. Race helps us make up how one sees
the world around us and the different multitudes of ethnic groups. Different raciest are compassed by
how we view one s languages, values, and beliefs, race that continues to shape the practice and
politics of citizenship in ways that are often obscured in modern citizenship debates (Collins. 2014)
causing for racial diversity. In the past race was concerted either black or white, there was no in
between. With the changing of times the world is becoming a mixing pot for all types of racist,
languages, and cultures. . As this trend progresses and racial identity becomes less important as a
social construct (Schmidt.2006) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The big issue on discrimination has been going on sense the beginning of time. With one race of
people trying to control another race of people, pose challenges that is still and always will be an issue
that society has always struggled with. Now that the United States has become a melting pot of not
only different races, but also people with different values, genders, ages, religions, ethnicity, ability,
classes, and sexual orientation. No race or cultural of people male or female is beyond diversity that
has taken over the world today. No one can truly say that he or she has never experienced or witness
some form of biases or prejudices in one s life. The media shows events of biases and prejudices that
take shape across the world every day, all one has to do is turn on the TV or open the newspaper. The
beliefs that one race is better than another has always been an open opinion that fuels hate that one
class of people is better than another. Race diversity should not be thought of as a bad thing, we
should embrace race diversity. By embracing another race or cultural it allows a race other than one s
own to be shared and understood why one race of people way of life is unlike one s own without
having culture shock when one comes across another race of people. A good thing about a different
race one is able to learn what we concerned abnormal or normal through another culture eyes per say
without leaving one s community. Race diversity is hitting us in every walk of life from our work
place, schools, doctors offices, and even our own

English Language Learners Lit. Review
Classroom Engagement, Home Connections, and ELL Students
Angela Johnson
Washington State University
Literature Review
This literature review is my work in progress for my master`s final project at Washington State
University. My chair Dr.Tom Salsbury recommended some of the articles that I included in this
literature review. The key words are engagement, motivation, English language Learners, reading,
struggling readers, parent involvement, home literacy, literacies, home school connections, and funds
of knowledge.
Introduction
Of all student populations (aside from participants in Special Education programs), English Language
Learners (ELLs) face the most academic challenges especially on standardized evaluations
emphasizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have noticed students have a short concentration span (of approximately 4 or 5 minutes) when doing
academic activities. During math exercises, ELLs have also showed that it can be particularly difficult
to solve basic addition, subtraction and multiplication when compared to the other students in class.
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that shape my students attitudes towards literacy and
numeracy. I am especially interested in investigating home school connections to explore the influence
of family and community literacy practices on my students academic development. Taking these
factors into consideration, I want to see how an intervention based on the integration of home based
skills and activities in the classroom affects the students motivation when doing academic activities. A
specific intervention that can be applied includes having ELL students assist in the designing of
classroom activities based on their interests.
Background Theory literacy instruction. Cummins (2011) highlights research evidence that suggests
that schools can significantly reduce the negative academic effects that abound in socioeconomically
disadvantaged contexts (Kozal, 1992, 2006) by ensuring that students have access to a rich print
environment and become actively engaged with literacy. Cummins (2011) work implies that policies
designed to ensure that low income and ELL

Summary Of Miss Mabel s School For Girls
First of all, I would love to thank the author for sending me a copy of this book so soon after I finished
the Miss Mabel s School for Girls. Let it be known that I absolutely loved Miss Mabel s School for
Girls, the first book in Katie Cross Network Series. It had wonderful characters, beautiful imagery,
and much more. It whisked you to a place of mysterious magic that you can t quite get over even after
you finish the book. It enraptured me and made me an instant fan. It seems rare that I love a sequel
just as much as the original, and it has only happened a few times before but Antebellum Awakening
has just joined that short list.I found the first, Miss Mabel s School for Girls, on NetGalley and I am so
glad I did. After posting my praise on this blog and all my other social media platforms, the author
offered me a copy of the second novel as well as a novella which I can t wait to dive into, by the way.
I loved that in this book we had an entirely new setting, it no longer takes place at Miss Mabel s but
rather at Chatham Castle which is basically the capitol of the Central Network. We get to explore so
much more in this book, we even travel to another Network in Antebellum. I also loved the addition of
the new characters and creatures, especially Merrick and Sonna. ... Show more content on

Considering that the first book was set at an entirely all girl s school romance wasn t much of an
option. What I liked most about the addition, though, was the fact that the romance was centered
around Bianca s friends rather than herself. Yes, there are still hints of it between her and Merrick but
it is hardly a blossoming romance or anything of the sort, especially when compared with the
descriptions of Camille and Brecken or Michelle and Nicholas. This book kept up my favorite part of
the first book, and that was the all around girl power. The girls in these books basically rule, and it is

What Is Poe s Name Of The Animals In The Black Cat
In the literature The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe. The narrator, mentions that in the next few days he
would die. He describes himself as a caring and loving man, who when was young was despised by
others for his fear of animals. He married a woman who had the same fear of animals, though she
invited many animals to live their home. There were birds, gold fish, a very well dog, rabbits, a tiny
monkey and a cat. The name of the cat is Pluto this was the cat s name was my favorite pet and
playmate. I alone fed him, and he attended me wherever I went to the house. It was even with
difficulty that I could prevent him from following me through the streets (Poe). The man and his cat
built a close relationship. As time went on, the man began feeling unkindness.

teeth. The fury of a demon instantly possessed me. I knew myself no longer (Poe). Later, he grew to

and drops Pluto from a tree, killing Pluto.
The wife and the man walk to the cellar to complete errands. The cat followed me down the steep
stairs, and, nearly throwing me headlong, exasperated me to madness. Uplifting an ax, and forgetting,
in my wrath, the childish dread which had hitherto stayed my hand, I aimed a blow at the animal,
which, of course, would have proved instantly fatal had it descended as I wished. But this blow was
arrested by the hand

  • 2. Strong Relationships In Celie By Alice Walker Zainab Beg Marchand 8th 25 March 2015 English III Honors Walker uses characterization and diction to illustrate how strong relationships can help individuals overcome hardships. Walker emphasizes the importance of having relationships with significant others through the use of diction to characterize Nettie. There is so much to tell you that I don t know... but if this do get through, one thing I want you to know, I love you, and I am not dead. And Olivia is fine and so is your son (Walker 119). Long as I can spell G O D I got somebody along (Walker 18). As the story begins, Celie feels as if the only place she can express her true feelings is with God. She purposes that she can trust him and turn to him when no other person will understand. Similarly to Nettie s doubts of her sister thinking she s dead, Celie invokes that God is the only reliable source in her life. The letters begin with Celie addressing herself to God because she s ashamed to tell anyone else (Bloom 54). As time goes on, she becomes less reliant on God, and more independent when it comes to thoughts and intentions. Well, us talk and talk about God, but I m still adrift. Trying to chase that old white man out of my head. I been so busy thinking bout him I never truly notice nothing God make. Not a blade of corn (how it do that?) not the color purple (where it come from?) (Walker 198). Attempting to escape the image of God as a white male which she cannot relate to, Celie envisions God as the creator of all beauty. She used to associate God with all the previous abuses from men, ranting to God about her many struggles with life. She now takes time to appreciate, rather than denigrate, all of His blessings on earth, and how truly lucky she is after all. Celie also associates His entity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Battle Between Bottled Water And Tap Water When enjoying themselves in amusement parks and water parks, when people get thirsty they tend to grab the easiest thing at their disposal bottled water, and many different brands to choose from. Likewise, during the night when people don t want to make the full trek into the kitchen to grab some water, they just head to the sink and cup their hands to drink the tap water. It s an easy decision at that moment, people just know that they re thirsty and that they want the nearest source of water. Are these people really choosing the safest water for their health though? In study by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in 1999, it revealed that twenty two percent of the one thousand water bottles being tested contained an alarming amount of chemicals that surpassed the health limit in one or more states. In addition, out of one hundred and three brands that were tested, at least eighteen of them were found to have had contained microbiological contaminants, once again exceeding the health limits (Hyder). Although the study is a bit older, the problem of finding chemicals in bottled water has continued. Since the year 2000, there have been nine outbreaks due to contamination in bottled water (Commercially Bottled Water). In 2004, Coca Cola withdrew its own water bottle brand because of concerns about a possible carcinogen in the water (Ward, Owen, Ryan et al). Carcinogens are substances and exposures that can lead to cancer , and the fact that it was a concern in a popular water bottle brand could result in dangerous outcomes (Known and Probable...). Further proving contaminations in bottled water is another study in 2008 done by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) they analyzed the content of several water bottle brands. Some samples bought in California went over the limits for bottled water contaminants in that state, along with contaminants that could possibly cause cancer found in ... In fact it is so serious that violence in the workplace in recent years has grown to be the second leading cause of death in the workplace (Baron, Hoffman, Merrill, 2000). Responding to this epidemic will take a tailored dynamic approach that must be embraced by employees and management alike. Several of these key behaviors include, but are not limited to: drug/alcohol abuse, depression, increased absenteeism, threats or verbal abuse, signs of mental illness, paranoia, projecting their problems onto others namely management. If most companies took a proactive stance at mitigating workplace violence there could be a significant reduction in the occurrences of these events. Preventing workplace violence has to be executed around a dynamic approach in which multiple factors are combined to place workers in a safe working environment. The first and most comprehensive tool that every organization should have is a workplace violence policy. An effective workplace violence policy has two main focal points. First, good policies provide clear guidelines for expected behavior, definitions of unacceptable behavior, and outline the penalties for violating the policy (Baron, Hoffman, Merrill, 2000). This is imperative and must be communicated constantly to all employees. An employee s initial immersion into the policy should occur before they begin to work for the job they were hired to do. Lagrange began to be recognized for his studies and work in mathematics so that at the age of nineteen, he was selected to be a professor at the Royal Artillery School in Turin. Thus, Lagrange s career began. Lagrange accomplished many things throughout his career and life that should not be duly noted. As a professor, Lagrange taught mechanics and calculus. However, his impatience tested his teaching methods as it started to create problems with students liking his classes. The following year in 1756, Lagrange sent some of his work to colleague, Leonhard Euler, who then sent it to the French mathematician, Pierre Louis Moreau de Maupertuis, the President of the Berlin Academy, now known as the Prussian Academy of Sciences. Vastly impressed by the work of Lagrange, Maupertuis invited him to Prussia to become a figure there. Such an invitation would probably have made him more widely known in the science world during that time, but Lagrange courteously declined the invitation as he was content with his life in Turin. Nevertheless, on September 2, 1756, Lagrange was elected to the Berlin Academy. The next year, 1757, Lagrange formed the Royal Academy of Sciences of Turin which was much alike the Berlin Academy. Lagrange s work during this period covered a variety of topics, such as calculus of variations, calculus of probabilities and foundations of dynamics. • 7. Flourishing Summary Sparknotes Summary Flourishing is written by two authors who propose a radical approach to considering sustainability. They do not see the problem as simply corporations causing harm to the environment, as it appears on the surface. They propose that the root problem within our society exists within our culture. A major part of the book specifically tackles the way society has applied the concepts of capitalism. Originally where society consisted of relationships between different individuals, individuals and nature, and individuals and themselves, the application of capitalism, along with the drive from corporations towards consumerism, has created a culture in which satisfaction stems from Having more as oppose to simply Being . The book proposes we are no longer focussed on being satisfied with ourselves, and satisfied with what we have, whether it be the relationships around us or the items we possess. To solve these problems and the detriment to the environment that stems from them, the authors call for a complete paradigm shift in our current way of living. To start off that shift they interpret the definition of sustainability as being too limiting. They instead introduce the term of sustainability as flourishing. • 11. How Dangerous Is Salt Water for Our Kidneys Our bodies, specifically the kidneys, have the amazing ability to conserve or get rid of water when needed through two key mechanisms. These two important players are the the loop of Henle in the nephron and the anti diuretic hormone (ADH) that is secreted by the pituitary gland of our endocrine system. Our renal and endocrine systems are always working together to maintain homeostasis and keep the ions and other substances inside our body balanced, but coping with extremely high amounts of sodium is challenging and hard on our bodies. Although consuming a very small amount of saltwater will not kill you, drinking large quantities of saltwater is never to be advised. The structure of the loop of Henle in the nephron has the ability to either filter out or keep ions within the loop. First, the dilute filtrate goes through the glomerulus of the nephron where it is losing water, glucose, hormones, and other ions in the proximal convoluted tubule. It travels down the descending limb of the loop which is only permeable to water. Water is reabsorbed out passively leaving the filtrate extremely concentrated with sodium and chloride ions. The filtrate then travels back up the ascending limb which is permeable to ions and not to water. The sodium and chloride ions are filtered out and absorbed actively at this stage. By the time the filtrate reaches the distal convoluted tubule, it is dilute again. It then travels down the collecting duct. It concentrates the sodium and chloride out ... The Indian Removal stands as one of the cruelest periods in the history of the United States, and is the result of a long history of war and disagreement between whites and Indians. Indians and Europeans had their differences. The culture of the Indian tribes was very different than that of the incoming white settlers. However, in spite of these differences, some white settlers and Indians developed successful trade relationships. Still, Indians were long regarded as savages by white Europeans . Spaniards treated them with extreme brutality, imprisoning Indians and confiscating their lands. • 41. The Family Systems Theory During The Mid 20th Century Murray Bowen, an American psychiatrist, began developing what would become known as the family systems theory during the mid 20th century. He believed that the family was an emotional unit and that it could be best understood by looking not just at current family interactions but the interactions of prior generations as well (Helm, 2009). His focus was on using theory, not therapy, to treat the patient and the cornerstone of that theory is that human behavior is based on a person being able to maintain intimacy with loved ones while differentiating themselves sufficiently as individuals so as not to be swept up by what is transpiring within the family (p. 205). At both the Menninger Clinic and the National Institute of Mental Health, Bowen became interested in schizophrenia specifically in relation to the mother and child. He soon realized that he needed to focus on the entire family rather than just mother and child to provide a more accurate picture for his research. The Bowen Family Systems theory was born of this realization. The basic premise of the family systems theory is that the therapist cannot fully understand or successfully treat the client without first grasping how that individual functions within their family system. To this end, Bowen postulated eight interlocking concepts for the family as an emotional unit and they are differentiation of self, triangles, nuclear family emotional process, family projection process, emotional cutoff, multigenerational ... Review Classroom Engagement, Home Connections, and ELL Students Angela Johnson Washington State University Literature Review This literature review is my work in progress for my master`s final project at Washington State University. My chair Dr.Tom Salsbury recommended some of the articles that I included in this literature review. The key words are engagement, motivation, English language Learners, reading, struggling readers, parent involvement, home literacy, literacies, home school connections, and funds of knowledge. Introduction Of all student populations (aside from participants in Special Education programs), English Language Learners (ELLs) face the most academic challenges especially on standardized evaluations emphasizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have noticed students have a short concentration span (of approximately 4 or 5 minutes) when doing academic activities. During math exercises, ELLs have also showed that it can be particularly difficult to solve basic addition, subtraction and multiplication when compared to the other students in class. Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that shape my students attitudes towards literacy and numeracy. I am especially interested in investigating home school connections to explore the influence of family and community literacy practices on my students academic development. Taking these factors into consideration, I want to see how an intervention based on the integration of home based skills and activities in the classroom affects the students motivation when doing academic activities. A specific intervention that can be applied includes having ELL students assist in the designing of classroom activities based on their interests. Background Theory literacy instruction. Cummins (2011) highlights research evidence that suggests that schools can significantly reduce the negative academic effects that abound in socioeconomically disadvantaged contexts (Kozal, 1992, 2006) by ensuring that students have access to a rich print environment and become actively engaged with literacy. Cummins (2011) work implies that policies designed to ensure that low income and ELL ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Summary Of Miss Mabel s School For Girls First of all, I would love to thank the author for sending me a copy of this book so soon after I finished the Miss Mabel s School for Girls. Let it be known that I absolutely loved Miss Mabel s School for Girls, the first book in Katie Cross Network Series. It had wonderful characters, beautiful imagery, and much more. It whisked you to a place of mysterious magic that you can t quite get over even after you finish the book. It enraptured me and made me an instant fan. It seems rare that I love a sequel just as much as the original, and it has only happened a few times before but Antebellum Awakening has just joined that short list.I found the first, Miss Mabel s School for Girls, on NetGalley and I am so glad I did. After posting my praise on this blog and all my other social media platforms, the author offered me a copy of the second novel as well as a novella which I can t wait to dive into, by the way. I loved that in this book we had an entirely new setting, it no longer takes place at Miss Mabel s but rather at Chatham Castle which is basically the capitol of the Central Network. We get to explore so much more in this book, we even travel to another Network in Antebellum. I also loved the addition of the new characters and creatures, especially Merrick and Sonna. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Considering that the first book was set at an entirely all girl s school romance wasn t much of an option. What I liked most about the addition, though, was the fact that the romance was centered around Bianca s friends rather than herself. Yes, there are still hints of it between her and Merrick but it is hardly a blossoming romance or anything of the sort, especially when compared with the descriptions of Camille and Brecken or Michelle and Nicholas. This book kept up my favorite part of the first book, and that was the all around girl power. The girls in these books basically rule, and it is absolutely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. What Is Poe s Name Of The Animals In The Black Cat In the literature The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe. The narrator, mentions that in the next few days he would die. He describes himself as a caring and loving man, who when was young was despised by others for his fear of animals. He married a woman who had the same fear of animals, though she invited many animals to live their home. There were birds, gold fish, a very well dog, rabbits, a tiny monkey and a cat. The name of the cat is Pluto this was the cat s name was my favorite pet and playmate. I alone fed him, and he attended me wherever I went to the house. It was even with difficulty that I could prevent him from following me through the streets (Poe). The man and his cat built a close relationship. As time went on, the man began feeling unkindness. The narrator ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I seized him; when, in his fright at my violence, he inflicted a slight wound upon my hand with his teeth. The fury of a demon instantly possessed me. I knew myself no longer (Poe). Later, he grew to be more aggressive again towards Pluto. Then one morning he wraps a cord around the Pluto s collar and drops Pluto from a tree, killing Pluto. The wife and the man walk to the cellar to complete errands. The cat followed me down the steep stairs, and, nearly throwing me headlong, exasperated me to madness. Uplifting an ax, and forgetting, in my wrath, the childish dread which had hitherto stayed my hand, I aimed a blow at the animal, which, of course, would have proved instantly fatal had it descended as I wished. But this blow was arrested by the hand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
