The Great Papal Schism In The Roman Catholic Church
The Great Papal Schism The Great Papal Schism is also known as the Western Schism that lasted from
1378 1417, during which the papacy (the position itself) was in great divide between three popes in
the Roman Catholic Church. This political upheaval within the Roman Catholic Church caused
distrust of the western civilization towards the church. It began after the Avignon Papacy or the more
commonly referred to, Babylonian captivity of the papacy which was when the papal court was moved
to France and French cardinals who later became popes from 1309 1378 resided in Avignon, France (a
total of seven French popes by the papal names Clement V all the way to Gregory XI, who moved the
court back to Rome) while being heavily influenced by the French kings; this also resulted to the
decline of the papal power and authority (Miller, Study.com).
The Babylonian captivity ended after the death of Gregory XI in 1378, with the deposition of the
papal court from France back to Rome to end the upheaval within the holy city. The movement of the
church from Rome to France caused so much disturbance in Rome that when Gregory moved the
papal court back to Rome, the people were demanding that an Italian pope be elected after Gregory s
death. This led to the election of Urban VI, whose non papal name was Bartolommeo Prignano, and
was chosen by the cardinals. However, the city was in major turmoil from the so called Babylonian
captivity that the Vatican palace (or papal palace) was stormed

The Argumentative Essay On Why Netflix Is The Best
Netflix is the Best Have you ever scrolled through the guide for what feels like years trying to find one
decent show? Or how about wanting to watch hours of TV, but you can never find good back to back
shows? I believe that Netflix is by far the best invention added on to TV ever. Many things make
Netflix great, but for starters Netflix is the game changer in TV, the Netflix original series are winning
awards and the actors starring in them are winning awards, bypassing regular entertainment, and so
much more. Netflix is the inevitable future of TV that we have all been waiting for. It all started in
1997, when Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph co found Netflix . Then, two short years later, Netflix
gets launched. If we skip ahead into 2007, you can now watch Netflix on your personal computer.
Between 2008 and 2010 users were became able to watch Netflix through Xbox, DVD players, PS3,
and even their smart phones. As of 2014 they have 48 million users. In spring of 2012 they started to
create their own Netflix originals . If they can do all of that in 17 years, then imagine what it will be
like in 10 more years. Now this isn t just a band in the garage living ... Show more content on

Orange is the New Black received an 8.5 out of ten rating that has to be worth anybody s time.
Lilyhammer received an 8.1, House of Cards received a 9.1, and all the Netflix originals even out to
about a 7.9. Not only do they receive great ratings, they are also winning awards! Orange is the new
Black was nominated for 55 awards and won 14 of them, mostly because of their prime actress, Taylor
Schilling. Since her appearance in Orange is the New Black she acquired another movie job, she is
starring in The Overnight as Taylor. Netflix is making lesser known actresses and actors into stars as
well as making their own series, who knows that they ll do

Analysis Of The Movie Romero
The year is 1977 in El Salvador, a time of deep public and political unrest, where injustices are high
among the people and there exists a great divide between the rich and the poor, it is during this time
that the Vatican elevated Oscar Romero to the position of Arch Bishop of San Salvador. Romero is
elevated in hopes that with his quite, passive demurer and diminishing health that he would accept the
status quo and not cause a military dispute; however, much to everyone s surprise, Romero became the
voice of the poor and took a stand against the exiguous government and hostile military, which begin
to target priests. Romero was passive at first, afraid of government s hostility, but over time, he did not
give up on his people and was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
STOP! We re human beings, we re human beings! (Romero, 1.26:12). With all of the effort that he
puts in, Romero could not physically do anything being trapped inside his jail cell. In this situation,
Romero hears a desperate cry for help evoking a reaction inside him to help his fellow man. By not
being able to really do anything, somehow, Romero was being tortured as well: by not being able to
do anything but listen to a man be subjected to such horrid pain. The response that Romero felt was
person and his action automatic causing him to act ethically. The ethical experience of the beggar
explains the experience of the other. The experience begins with the face of someone in need of help.
Something occurs while face to face with the other, it evokes a person reaction and typically exposes
as desire to help whomever is in need. Face to face encounters with the other are ethical as they
remind each person of their responsibility to the other. See someone in need, evokes a deep emotional
response and makes one responsible; the face stays with them, it invades their consciousness. Romero
feels the experience of the other when sitting down with the poor discussing all of the missing and
murdered family members. He looks upon each person s face and see a community desperately in
need. It is in this scene that Romero looks upon the faces of his community, faces filled with grief and
agony, it is then that he realizes that he must help these people and that he

The Process Of Aging
Aging is a process that all people alive are constantly going through everyday and every year. From
the reading Aging occurs within a social context: one s social class, education, occupation, gender, and
race will determine how one experiences adolescence or old age. In the United States until a person
reaches the age eighteen years old they are considered, to be in school and, are still seen as being a
child, and until after high school graduation or eighteen they can bee seen as a man, woman, or adult.
In different cultures a child can be considered a man or woman at a younger age. The examples I
know off the top of my head are Quinceañera s and Bar Mitzvahs. Bar Mitzvah s are used in the
Jewish culture and are seen as when a boy turns

Cleaning Products And Its Effects On Our Environment
There are concerns over the cleaning products we use in our homes, many of these products we use
contain harsh chemicals that can damage, ultimately in addition hurt our environment. Fortunately
there are many companies that are taking note of this, specially taking the concerns from people in our
communities to create products that are more earth friendly . Another topic that should be included
when writing about sustainable cleaning products is biodegradability in the materials we use, as well
as the packaging. This is important as not only harsh chemicals harm our environment with their toxic
waste, in addition to we also end up producing pollution as a result of using packaging that is not
biodegradable.
We all use cleaning products in our home, many that contain harsh chemicals that flow into our
oceans. There are several companies that make green products for our home many of which will claim
to be non toxic; some of these companies are, NatureClean, Ecover, Earth Friendly, Method, Mrs.
Meyers, and Seventh Generation. Most of these products are biodegradable, provided with the fact
that they are made with natural ingredients. As well as being recyclable after using the product, adding
also that they are free from chemicals such as chlorine, bleach, as well as ammonia. These companies
are helping make a change not only in our homes also in our environment. In terms with speaking
about sustainable cleaning products for the households, we also must address the issue

Research Question
In this internal assessment, I am given a cantilever to find the physical properties of it. I decide to
investigate the relationship between the force I act on one side of the cantilever and the maximum
acceleration the tail can reach. This experiment will be also showing the elasticity of the cantilever.
Since I pull down one side of it and fixed the other side, when I cut the string, it will bounce up and
down until all the internal energy is depleted.

Unions Are A Most Effective Way Of Protecting Worker s Rights
2. Do you agree that unions are a most effective way of protecting worker s rights? Should U.S. labor
law be changed to be more in line with international labor codes?
Answer: Yes, I agree that solidarity campaigns in support of workers and/or unions are an effective
way of protecting worker s rights. Without the formation of unions such as the United Farm Workers
founded by Chavez and Huerta in 1962, vulnerable workers would have no defense against the
systemic exploitation and violations against their rights as workers and as human beings (Brubaker,
2007, p. 96). Exposed by the Human Rights Watch (HRW), is the fact that agricultural work in the
U.S. is the most punishing and perilous work open to children in the contemporary world. ... Show

Also, after a request for better working conditions in Bangladesh were denied, ten workers leading the
protest were beaten by police, detained, and deported. Senator Byron Dorgan reported that under the
Jordanian Free Trade Agreement, we ended up with people of Bangladesh working 120 hours a week,
turning Chinese cloth into apparel designed for the U.S. market, which enters the U.S. duty free.
According to a 2006 Harris poll, 75% of Americans support the protection of international workers
rights, therefore, the creators of these laws need to recognize the need for reform in the laws affecting
workers of the world (Brubaker, 2007, p. 106).
3. Does the idea of community supported agriculture appeal to you? What would it take to make
something like this happen in your community?
Answer: Yes! I love the idea of community supported agriculture for several reasons. In the first place,
the goals identified, such as mutually beneficial relationships with a community of consumers,
environmentally sustainable farming practices, and public education on contemporary agricultural
issues makes sense to me. Also, the high quality, locally grown produce is more available and
affordable, and even reduces the negative environmental impacts caused by conventional production
and distribution systems. Those who cannot afford to buy adequate food are incorporated into the
planning of the distribution of the crops, and since diet can be a risk

INTRODUCTION The Canterbury region is the second largest dairy producer in the country
(Statistics New Zealand, n.d.). Over the period of 2007 to 2012, the region has seen an increase of
60,000 hectares of irrigated farm land (Hills, 2013) due to the conversion of beef, sheep and crop
farms to water intensive dairy farming. There has also been an increase of 58% in the number of dairy
farms and a 31% increase in the average herd size of dairy farms (Burns, 2013). For maximum
production, sufficient irrigation is required for dairy farms (Food and Agriculture Organization of the
United Nations, 2000). Therefore dairying requires at least ten times more water than other farming
practices (Ward McKague, 2007). Over the summer months of December, January and February, this
irrigation increase would represent a decrease in the amount of stressed vegetation in the study area.
The study area is a 30km2 section of the Canterbury Plains, situated between the Waimakariri and
Rakaia Rivers (Figure 2), to the west of Christchurch City. It falls within Path 74, Row 90 of Landsat s
reference system. The area encompasses a variety of land use

Types Of Long Term Memory
According to Shiffrin Atkinson (1969), long term memory is defined as the processes by which
information is stored in and retrieved from. The two processes involved in long term memory are
encoding and retrieval. Encoding refers to the process in which information is learned and converted
into a memory representation, whereas retrieval refers to accessing previously stored information
(Shiffrin Atkinson, 1969). The two forms of long term memory are declarative or explicit memory and
non declarative or implicit memory. Declarative memory (DM) refers to subsystems of long term
memory that can be deliberately, intentionally or consciously recollected. These subsystems are
known as episodic memory and semantic memory (Squire, 1992). Episodic memory is defined as the
long term memory subsystem that stores information about past events, occurrences or episodes
related to an individual s life and is used to recall such events or episodes. Semantic memory is a long
term memory system that stores and recollects facts and general knowledge (Squire Zola, 1998).
Recognition or recall tasks are usually used to measure DM (Wagner et al, 1998). Non declarative
memory (NDM) refers to the memory subsystem that impacts recent perceptions and behaviour
without knowledge, consciousness and intent. The subsystem within NDM involved in long term
memory is known as procedural memory (Squire, 1992).The NDM of skills is termed as procedural
memory. The process involves learning a skill or

Apple Life Cycle
Apple s I Phone is a creative product that has a constant product life cycle. Each new phone that Apple
produces goes through the same process. The simple lifecycle of which I will discuss a small scope of
within this essay relating to social factors is, introduction, growth and maturity and then decline.
Social Factors that revolve around the life cycle of the I Phone are those such as trends, social media,
social reputation and the competition around you. As the I Phone is a technological advancement in
itself technology will be a main focus through the entire argument. The social factors that tie in to the
lifecycle of the I Phone relate or tie in to the technological advancements of the product. I will discuss
how the product is received and mass produced to the point where there is no longer a market and the
lifecycle ends. Marketing of a creative product is a mammoth part of the introduction of said product.
Social media is a social factor that can be accounted for, for a substantial chunk of todays marketing
of creative products. In relation to the I Phone, large hype is made through streams such as Facebook,
Twitter and Instagram. When Apple is due to, or has released their creative products many videos,
stories and photos will be shared relating to this new product. This phenomenon is causing business to
embrace the web platform and it s strengths allowing them to reach global audiences. (Graham, 2005)

Action Is Morally Just Or Unjust
In philosophy, it is often difficult to formulate an accurate definition of whether an action is morally
just or unjust. In order to comprehensively explain the morality of a specific action, the definition
must meet the standards of both necessary and sufficient conditions. Necessary conditions are the
components of the definition that must be true of the action in order to classify the action as either
morally just or unjust. Although the necessary condition must be a component of the definition, it
alone does not solidify the morality of an action, which is why the sufficient condition must also be
addressed. The conditions that, if accurately met, guarantees that the definition achieves its purpose is
the sufficient condition. When applying these stipulations to the relativist view presented in class: If a
person S utters a statement of the form action A is morally wrong, this statement is true if and only if S
believes it is true, it is not difficult to argue that this particular view does not meet the standards of
necessary or sufficient conditions. Besides not meeting necessary and sufficient conditions, It is not
plausible that a moral claim can be true depending solely on whether or not the speaker believes it.
Human emotions are continuously changing; person S may believe action A is right today, but wrong
tomorrow, making the relativist view inconsistent. It is also impossible to say an action is universally
wrong based on the sole thought of one person, seeing as though each person has a different set of
beliefs, cultures, and customs. On the basis of necessary conditions, according to the relativist view
presented above, an action A is only moral wrong if speaker S deems it to be wrong at that particular
moment. However, the action may still be morally wrong, even if the speaker deems it otherwise,
meaning speaker S s definition is not necessarily correct. In terms of the sufficient condition, action A
may have been inflicted as an accident, although the speaker did not immediately know that.
Therefore, the speaker may have believed the action was morally wrong in the beginning, but when
speaker S obtains new knowledge pertaining to the action, they may think otherwise. It was suggested

catching rides on stranger s boats who he has never met before. He started on his exciting journey, not

Throughout the book the author travels down the Baya , as the Cajun people call it, and meets many
people of Cajun background who call this place their home. The Author s main purpose in writing this

Mike Tidwell wrote this novel with the purpose of informing the readers about the wonderful, often
overlooked location that is the Bayou. He wants the public to know that this region is a treasure and
holds many unique qualities that so many places in the United States are missing today. Through his
journeys he came to love the land and the water. He learned a great deal about shrimping and
crabbing, and the way of life on the Cajun coast. While he wrote this book to inform people about the
region, he also wrote it to persuade readers to care. He wants people to realize that this territory is
becoming extinct. There are many reasons why much of the marshlands are turning to open waters,
and he wants to make sure that the readers become curious about them. He wants to pass on his love
of the land to those who read about his experiences. He most likely hopes that people will read this
book and consider what they can do to help out the cause. Most of the author s statements are based on
experiences. The majority of the book is about the experiences that the author has during his travels
down the bayou. While a few of his chapters do have some facts about the problem of the sinking land

There is a huge number of missing women in Canada, and an extremely large number of these women
are Aboriginal. Why do Aboriginal women seem more vulnerable? The majority of these missing
Aboriginal women were living on the streets, living in poverty and working in the sex trade industry
before their disappearances. Why were all of these women in the same situation? I believe that the
Conflict Theory explains the hardships, the abuse and the discrimination that each of these women
faced before they went missing. The Conflict Theory states that society is marked by power struggles

The damage done by residential schools is evident today as Aboriginal people, long deprived of

accelerated with the breakdown of Aboriginal cultural values and the abuse suffered by Aboriginal
children in the schools contributed to family breakdown. This began a cycle of abuse in Aboriginal

Plato s Theory Of Forms Essay
Plato was a standout amongst the most innovative and persuasive masterminds in Western philosophy,

This is the center thought behind Plato s theory of forms, from this thought he moves towards
clarifying his universe of forms or ideas. While trying to give the definition to elusive universals,
Plato constructs a Theory of Forms to demonstrate that the sensible universe of particulars are simple
impersonations of this present reality where forms live, autonomous of thought and existing in their
own metaphysical realm that can be retrieved through the mind using reason. To further explain Plato
s theory of the forms, it can essentially be portrayed as otherworldly presences which are found in an
alternate world from the physical world; the realm of forms. There is only one form of everything and
it exists in this world of forms, everything else is just a copy thoughts are impeccable, the copies are
flawed. The structures themselves, as indicated by Plato, are everlasting and endless. For instance, the
concept of beauty remains constant and unchanging. In its place, the beauty we see in the physical
world may be superficial and be seen in colors, animals or even human beings in varying degrees of
beauty; however, these

Ideas are scary G.E commercial
General Electric in this ad demonstrates the idea that any human from the moment of birth to death,
requires nourishment, protection and care to grow as a beautiful person. Similarly, the concept of this
advertisement shows us that when an idea is born it is immature, messy and ugly as it threatens what
is already known but when it is paid more attention and when it is edited and embellished in the right
way, it can turn into a big invention that can be unique and very successful at the same time. GE has
used a very smart approach of targeting audiences that value creativity and innovation, these
audiences would include those interested in technology, engineers, scientists, artists and doctors.. The

By the next scene, the idea has grown up into a bigger, more unattractive and even more pitiful
creature. He is huge, hairy, frightened and sad, dejectedly wandering the streets of a big city. He gets
disgusted looks and has objects thrown at him; he is kicked out of business and sleeps in a box in a
dirty alley. As referenced in the ad, the narrator says, Ideas are natural born enemy of the way things
are. The narrator explains the insecurity that people get when something different shows up in our
regular lives. Finally, after wandering around the big city, the creature walks in the GE office, he is
taken in by a kind hearted employee and embraced by the rest of GE s scary idea loving staff. He is
nurtured and taken great care of and turns out to be a clean, polished and refreshed idea. The visual
appeal of the ad helps the audience understand the concept of the ad through the use of the creature s
appearance and the setting of a big city. The creature gets lost in the harsh and rude environment of the
dark city. But when he enters the General Electric building, the lighting of the ad brightens up. The
narrator describes this gesture by saying, Under the proper care, ideas become something beautiful.

Office Space Reflection
Introduction The movie Office Space follows the main character Peter Gibbons and his co workers
Michael Bolton and Samir Nagheenanajar who work for the software company Intech in the late
1990s. Peter hates his job, saying that every day is the worst day, and visits a hypnotherapist at the
suggestion of his girlfriend at the time to help alleviate workplace stress. He is left in a carefree,
hypnotic state following the sudden death of the hypnotherapist and as a result, he is feels empowered
to skip work, show up late, and destroy Intech s property. Despite the abundance of counterproductive
work behaviors displayed, he is promoted to an upper management position. With the help of Michael

and Initech is able to make a few more dollars, he never sees any of it. He isn t willing to help the

are three form of commitment: (1) affective commitment, (2) continuance commitment, and (3)
normative commitment. Affective commitment is when a personas emotional attachment to an
organization. Peter had no intention of staying at Initech following his promotion, persuading Michael
and Samir to help him sabotage the company by embezzling. Continuance commitment is the amount
that an individual desires to stay with an organization. Tom, an older co worker of Peter, has worked at
Initech for thirty years and has invested time and effort, and is extremely concerned about being let go
when he hears about the consultants coming in. Normative commitment is the extent to which an
employee feels that they are obligated to stay with an organization. Despite getting a promotion, Peter
still lacks normative commitment and carries out his plan to sabotage Initech. Job satisfaction involves
an individual s attitude and emotions resulting from their job. If their attitude and emotions are
positive, they are satisfied, but if attitudes and emotions are negative, they are dissatisfied. The

Essay on The Sociological Perspective on Basketball
The Sociological perspective on basketball
In sociology, there are 3 paradigms. There is the conflict theory perspective, the symbolic interaction
perspective and the structural functionalist perspective. From a conflict paradigm point of view, the
essay would focus on gender and how the assumption that girls lack the same level of strength and
stamina as men. The WNBA (Women National Basketball League) doesn t get the same amount of
respect as the males do in the NBA (National Basketball League). Another issue could be that the
NBA players have a higher annual salary than an average teacher. A structural functionalist approach

How does playing basketball for a school can help a student academically in high school from a
structural functionalist perspective? You notice that playing basketball for a high school can help
physically, mentally, socially, and academically. Not only does playing basketball for a school not only
build friendships between team members, but could also give them that competitive edge to become
better than who they are physically and mentally. For a student to continue playing basketball for a
school, he ll have to stay in shape for the season and be able to keep the grades above average.
Academically, at a college level, basketball is a good and bad thing. Majority of universities pay
attention to the student skill level at the sport rather than his grades, just to ensure the schools success.
Paragraph 5 = From a structural functionalist perspective, you realize that by the game of basketball,
you can build friendships easily just by having something in common like loving the game. You also
notice how job opportunities can be given by playing the sport or becoming a trainer in the game and
help the athletics stay in shape. By having more job opportunities, it expands the economy. From a

For me, I think that the fourteenth amendment should be revised to redefine the immigration status.
Birth tourism should not be a way of immigration. I think that parents must first become citizens, then
their children can count as citizens. Otherwise these parents will use their children s citizenship to stay
in the United States to obtain benefits. This is not good, which is parents are use their children to

Fredrick Henry Alcoholism
In horrible situations people will do anything to cope with the pain, fear, and hopelessness they
experience. In a Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway, a young man named fredrick Henry is
working as an ambulance driver in the Italian army. Fredrick is thrown into the horrors of war on a
daily basis, and does what he can to deal with his emotions. Frederick Henry uses many different
techniques in order to find some kind of inner peace and escape the horror of war. One of the most
prominent coping methods, Fredrick Henry uses to escape his reality is consuming large amounts of
alcohol, even though it is damaging to his health. Frederick Henry only cares about the immediate
escape he gets from drinking the alcohol. He admits how alcohol makes ... Show more content on

A tragedy will occur, and he will describe it as though something horrific did not just happen. By
doing this Fredrick Henry is able to detach himself from the horrors he has been through, in order to
maintain his sanity. This detachment is first noticeable as early as the first chapter. While discussing
an outbreak of cholera, Frederick Henry says At the start of the winter came the permanent rain and
with the rain came the cholera. But it was checked and in the end only seven thousand died of it in the
army (4). They key word here is only . Thousands of his fellow soldiers died and he brushes it off as
though he was not phased in the least. Frederick Henry does not do this because he is a bad person,
but because he can not face the reality of what has happened. He pretends it was not as tragic as it
was, so he is able to escape his emotions. Frederick Henry continues to show his denial when he talks
about how he feels about the war. Fredrick says Well, I knew I would not be killed. Not in this war. It
did not have anything to do with me. It seemed no more dangerous to me myself than war in the
movies (31). This quote puts emphasis on how detached Frederick Henry has become from the war.
He is so far in denial that he does not even believe he can die. When he compares the war to war in the
movies he shows how detached from reality he has become. He is man living the war every day, yet he
compares it to something as innocent as the movies. Frederick Henry is so desperate to block out the
reality of the war that he blocks out what is happening right in front of

Enlightenment Impact On Enlightenment
Science and Culture, a Significant Impact on Enlightenment Era
The Age of Enlightenment, also known as the Age of Reason occurred during the 18th and 19th
centuries. It was a time when European politics, philosophy, science, and communications changed the
way people embraced the fact that humanity could be improved through rational change. The Age of
Enlightenment was a time of growth and change. It paved the way for major advancements in
technology, as well as the way people viewed life. New ideas circulated, and Europe began to change
as people questioned God s place and began to reposition their Christian faith. From the early age of
Enlightenment to the peak, the Enlightenment era had a significant impact on economics, and politics,
and religion. Ultimately, the impact that the Enlightenment periods had influencing economics,
politics and religion, created a culture influenced by science and change that jump started a new Era.
The culture change and scientific advancement created during the Age of Enlightenment created a
remarkable turning point in European history as scientists such as Isaac Newton and writer John
Locke, and female activists Mary Wollstonecraft questioned the status queue and powerfully
motivated change.

Teenage Girls
As a matter of fact, teenage girls are not the only ones who fall victim to the ideal of beauty. Teenage
boys are going through very similar situations. Media and advertisements set their standards for men
to be tall, muscular, board upper body, v line and have beards etc. Neither males nor females live
without having standards set up for them by society and media. Widely held perceptions of beauty and
perfection can have a deep and lasting cultural impact on both women and men. Some impact is that
these standards will continue to exist in our future culture and both genders will never feel
comfortable in their own skin/body. Both men and women would continue to judge themselves and
their beauty. Magazines and advertisements usually have images of men without their shirts in order to
show off their muscles and to attract customers. This makes members of society expect to see a six
pack,v line and pectorals when a male takes off their shirt. This gives teenage boys fear to take off
their shirt when going to the beach or smaller situations like going inside a pool because they are
scared to be criticized for not being muscular. Magazines display images of these fake models for both
men and women which creates intimidation. Study of mass media magazines discovered that women s
magazines had 10.5 times more advertisements and articles promoting weight loss than men s
magazines did (as cited in Guillen Barr.1944). The ideal of beauty targets women more than men. In

Difference Between Heretic And Hypocrite
Heretic and Hypocrite
The Christian faith is complex. It is a religion that preaches love, but centered at many hate rallies and
speeches. Within the recent stretch of years especially, surrounding millennials and increase in crises,
Christianity has entirely developed into a new beast. Due to hypocrisy within the Catholic Church,
many are turned away by what it has become. The largest issues stem from the smallest of issues. A
community grows from one individual, and if the individual takes on a different personality due to its
environment, the community will become toxic.
Catholicism is no longer about serving God, but changing and taking on a different persona entirely.
Today, serving God seems to have fallen from priority, replaced by Gospel gossip and conforming.
Much of this creates fairly hostile environments that pressure individuals to change themselves to fit
the molds set before them. Members become very judgmental and tied in with the gossip of their faith.
College professor Olivia spoke of the community s aid to her in trying times, but recounts the many

Diesel Powered Vehicles
Initial purchasing costs of gas over diesel powered vehicles is usually a large factor that consumers
take into account when purchasing a vehicle. Research has shown that on average, a diesel version
versus gasoline version of the same vehicle, is $5,045 more than the gasoline version. (Vincentric,
2012) Consumers buying on a budget have to take these factors into consideration, which generally
means that in more consumer oriented cars and SUVs, the gasoline version sells much better than the
diesel. Common reasons for this is that usually consumers associate diesel engines with the loud,
smoke blowing pickup trucks that smoke out an entire intersection. So people in the market for a
vehicle that haven t done their homework on the diesel powered version are more than likely to pick
the gasoline version. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now while diesel prices have averaged 14 percent more per gallon than gasoline over that last decade
(Staff @ WorkTruckOnline, 2011), there is an equalizer in this whole situation. The diesel s fuel
economy advantage over the gasoline powered version actually balances out the cost of the two fuels
with each s relative fuel economy. A diesel vehicle emits more greenhouse gas emissions when burnt
than gasoline, but its higher energy content per gallon results in higher fuel efficiency for the vehicle.
So, as a result, the diesel can go further on a single gallon than a gasoline truck, meaning it produces
very similar greenhouse gas emissions as the gasoline powered engine, while running nearly the same
cost for fuel per mile as a gasoline powered

National parks protect and preserve nature s natural beauty. The vast, open land provides a safe place
that allows native plants and animals to thrive in their natural environment. National parks not only
protect plants, animals, and the natural beauty, but they also protect a place that might be important to
people. Someone s ancestors might have walked through these very redwood forests. Thankfully, the
forests are now protected and they would get a chance to experience how it felt like to walk through
the amazing, tall, beautiful Redwood trees. Thanks to the amount of vegetation in national parks, they
also help us clean the air because of the large amounts of carbon dioxide the vegetation releases, and
oxygen it soaks in. So, national parks also help the environment, not just protect it, that s pretty cool. I
guess it s their way of saying thank you to us for protecting them for the rest of their lives. National

How To Survive Native American Life
Several hundred years ago, Native Americans had to survive in the New World without the creature
comforts we have today. The winters in prehistoric Ohio are historic for being harsh. This shows that
the Native Americans knew exactly how to survive the winter without the abundant resources in today
s society. The three things I would focus on if I had to survive a winter in prehistoric Ohio is shelter,
food and water, and forming a culture with the other people around me. The first thing I would focus
on if I had to survive a winter in prehistoric Ohio is shelter. I would first search for a suitable cave to
live in. It would be easier than building a house from scratch. It provides natural geothermal heating,
plus I would not have to worry about repairs or my shelter breaking down. Obviously, the geothermal
heat would not be enough during the winter, so I would have to make a fire pit within my cave for not
only heat but lighting too. And, since I am in a cave I do not have to worry about burning down my

  • 2. The Great Papal Schism In The Roman Catholic Church The Great Papal Schism The Great Papal Schism is also known as the Western Schism that lasted from 1378 1417, during which the papacy (the position itself) was in great divide between three popes in the Roman Catholic Church. This political upheaval within the Roman Catholic Church caused distrust of the western civilization towards the church. It began after the Avignon Papacy or the more commonly referred to, Babylonian captivity of the papacy which was when the papal court was moved to France and French cardinals who later became popes from 1309 1378 resided in Avignon, France (a total of seven French popes by the papal names Clement V all the way to Gregory XI, who moved the court back to Rome) while being heavily influenced by the French kings; this also resulted to the decline of the papal power and authority (Miller, Study.com). The Babylonian captivity ended after the death of Gregory XI in 1378, with the deposition of the papal court from France back to Rome to end the upheaval within the holy city. The movement of the church from Rome to France caused so much disturbance in Rome that when Gregory moved the papal court back to Rome, the people were demanding that an Italian pope be elected after Gregory s death. This led to the election of Urban VI, whose non papal name was Bartolommeo Prignano, and was chosen by the cardinals. However, the city was in major turmoil from the so called Babylonian captivity that the Vatican palace (or papal palace) was stormed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Argumentative Essay On Why Netflix Is The Best Netflix is the Best Have you ever scrolled through the guide for what feels like years trying to find one decent show? Or how about wanting to watch hours of TV, but you can never find good back to back shows? I believe that Netflix is by far the best invention added on to TV ever. Many things make Netflix great, but for starters Netflix is the game changer in TV, the Netflix original series are winning awards and the actors starring in them are winning awards, bypassing regular entertainment, and so much more. Netflix is the inevitable future of TV that we have all been waiting for. It all started in 1997, when Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph co found Netflix . Then, two short years later, Netflix gets launched. If we skip ahead into 2007, you can now watch Netflix on your personal computer. Between 2008 and 2010 users were became able to watch Netflix through Xbox, DVD players, PS3, and even their smart phones. As of 2014 they have 48 million users. In spring of 2012 they started to create their own Netflix originals . If they can do all of that in 17 years, then imagine what it will be like in 10 more years. Now this isn t just a band in the garage living ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Orange is the New Black received an 8.5 out of ten rating that has to be worth anybody s time. Lilyhammer received an 8.1, House of Cards received a 9.1, and all the Netflix originals even out to about a 7.9. Not only do they receive great ratings, they are also winning awards! Orange is the new Black was nominated for 55 awards and won 14 of them, mostly because of their prime actress, Taylor Schilling. Since her appearance in Orange is the New Black she acquired another movie job, she is starring in The Overnight as Taylor. • 4. Analysis Of The Movie Romero The year is 1977 in El Salvador, a time of deep public and political unrest, where injustices are high among the people and there exists a great divide between the rich and the poor, it is during this time that the Vatican elevated Oscar Romero to the position of Arch Bishop of San Salvador. Romero is elevated in hopes that with his quite, passive demurer and diminishing health that he would accept the status quo and not cause a military dispute; however, much to everyone s surprise, Romero became the voice of the poor and took a stand against the exiguous government and hostile military, which begin to target priests. Romero was passive at first, afraid of government s hostility, but over time, he did not give up on his people and was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... STOP! We re human beings, we re human beings! (Romero, 1.26:12). With all of the effort that he puts in, Romero could not physically do anything being trapped inside his jail cell. In this situation, Romero hears a desperate cry for help evoking a reaction inside him to help his fellow man. By not being able to really do anything, somehow, Romero was being tortured as well: by not being able to do anything but listen to a man be subjected to such horrid pain. The response that Romero felt was person and his action automatic causing him to act ethically. The ethical experience of the beggar explains the experience of the other. The experience begins with the face of someone in need of help. Something occurs while face to face with the other, it evokes a person reaction and typically exposes as desire to help whomever is in need. Face to face encounters with the other are ethical as they remind each person of their responsibility to the other. See someone in need, evokes a deep emotional response and makes one responsible; the face stays with them, it invades their consciousness. Romero feels the experience of the other when sitting down with the poor discussing all of the missing and murdered family members. He looks upon each person s face and see a community desperately in need. It is in this scene that Romero looks upon the faces of his community, faces filled with grief and agony, it is then that he realizes that he must help these people and that he ... From the reading Aging occurs within a social context: one s social class, education, occupation, gender, and race will determine how one experiences adolescence or old age. In the United States until a person reaches the age eighteen years old they are considered, to be in school and, are still seen as being a child, and until after high school graduation or eighteen they can bee seen as a man, woman, or adult. In different cultures a child can be considered a man or woman at a younger age. The examples I know off the top of my head are Quinceañera s and Bar Mitzvahs. Another topic that should be included when writing about sustainable cleaning products is biodegradability in the materials we use, as well as the packaging. This is important as not only harsh chemicals harm our environment with their toxic waste, in addition to we also end up producing pollution as a result of using packaging that is not biodegradable. We all use cleaning products in our home, many that contain harsh chemicals that flow into our oceans. There are several companies that make green products for our home many of which will claim to be non toxic; some of these companies are, NatureClean, Ecover, Earth Friendly, Method, Mrs. Meyers, and Seventh Generation. Most of these products are biodegradable, provided with the fact that they are made with natural ingredients. As well as being recyclable after using the product, adding also that they are free from chemicals such as chlorine, bleach, as well as ammonia. These companies are helping make a change not only in our homes also in our environment. Should U.S. labor law be changed to be more in line with international labor codes? Answer: Yes, I agree that solidarity campaigns in support of workers and/or unions are an effective way of protecting worker s rights. Without the formation of unions such as the United Farm Workers founded by Chavez and Huerta in 1962, vulnerable workers would have no defense against the systemic exploitation and violations against their rights as workers and as human beings (Brubaker, 2007, p. 96). I love the idea of community supported agriculture for several reasons. In the first place, the goals identified, such as mutually beneficial relationships with a community of consumers, environmentally sustainable farming practices, and public education on contemporary agricultural issues makes sense to me. Also, the high quality, locally grown produce is more available and affordable, and even reduces the negative environmental impacts caused by conventional production and distribution systems. Over the period of 2007 to 2012, the region has seen an increase of 60,000 hectares of irrigated farm land (Hills, 2013) due to the conversion of beef, sheep and crop farms to water intensive dairy farming. There has also been an increase of 58% in the number of dairy farms and a 31% increase in the average herd size of dairy farms (Burns, 2013). For maximum production, sufficient irrigation is required for dairy farms (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, 2000). Therefore dairying requires at least ten times more water than other farming practices (Ward McKague, 2007). Over the summer months of December, January and February, this irrigation increase would represent a decrease in the amount of stressed vegetation in the study area. • 10. Types Of Long Term Memory According to Shiffrin Atkinson (1969), long term memory is defined as the processes by which information is stored in and retrieved from. The two processes involved in long term memory are encoding and retrieval. Encoding refers to the process in which information is learned and converted into a memory representation, whereas retrieval refers to accessing previously stored information (Shiffrin Atkinson, 1969). The two forms of long term memory are declarative or explicit memory and non declarative or implicit memory. Declarative memory (DM) refers to subsystems of long term memory that can be deliberately, intentionally or consciously recollected. These subsystems are known as episodic memory and semantic memory (Squire, 1992). Episodic memory is defined as the long term memory subsystem that stores information about past events, occurrences or episodes related to an individual s life and is used to recall such events or episodes. Semantic memory is a long term memory system that stores and recollects facts and general knowledge (Squire Zola, 1998). Recognition or recall tasks are usually used to measure DM (Wagner et al, 1998). Non declarative memory (NDM) refers to the memory subsystem that impacts recent perceptions and behaviour without knowledge, consciousness and intent. The subsystem within NDM involved in long term memory is known as procedural memory (Squire, 1992).The NDM of skills is termed as procedural memory. The process involves learning a skill or ... • 12. Action Is Morally Just Or Unjust In philosophy, it is often difficult to formulate an accurate definition of whether an action is morally just or unjust. In order to comprehensively explain the morality of a specific action, the definition must meet the standards of both necessary and sufficient conditions. Necessary conditions are the components of the definition that must be true of the action in order to classify the action as either morally just or unjust. Although the necessary condition must be a component of the definition, it alone does not solidify the morality of an action, which is why the sufficient condition must also be addressed. The conditions that, if accurately met, guarantees that the definition achieves its purpose is the sufficient condition. When applying these stipulations to the relativist view presented in class: If a person S utters a statement of the form action A is morally wrong, this statement is true if and only if S believes it is true, it is not difficult to argue that this particular view does not meet the standards of necessary or sufficient conditions. Besides not meeting necessary and sufficient conditions, It is not plausible that a moral claim can be true depending solely on whether or not the speaker believes it. Human emotions are continuously changing; person S may believe action A is right today, but wrong tomorrow, making the relativist view inconsistent. It is also impossible to say an action is universally wrong based on the sole thought of one person, seeing as though each person has a different set of beliefs, cultures, and customs. On the basis of necessary conditions, according to the relativist view presented above, an action A is only moral wrong if speaker S deems it to be wrong at that particular moment. However, the action may still be morally wrong, even if the speaker deems it otherwise, meaning speaker S s definition is not necessarily correct. In terms of the sufficient condition, action A may have been inflicted as an accident, although the speaker did not immediately know that. Therefore, the speaker may have believed the action was morally wrong in the beginning, but when speaker S obtains new knowledge pertaining to the action, they may think otherwise. It was suggested in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Plato s Theory Of Forms Essay Plato was a standout amongst the most innovative and persuasive masterminds in Western philosophy, his impact all through the historical backdrop of philosophy has been monumental. Born around 428 B.C, he researched an extensive variety of topics; however, his Theory of Forms, found in The Republic, is an essential piece of Plato s philosophy. This is the center thought behind Plato s theory of forms, from this thought he moves towards clarifying his universe of forms or ideas. While trying to give the definition to elusive universals, Plato constructs a Theory of Forms to demonstrate that the sensible universe of particulars are simple impersonations of this present reality where forms live, autonomous of thought and existing in their own metaphysical realm that can be retrieved through the mind using reason. To further explain Plato s theory of the forms, it can essentially be portrayed as otherworldly presences which are found in an alternate world from the physical world; the realm of forms. There is only one form of everything and it exists in this world of forms, everything else is just a copy thoughts are impeccable, the copies are flawed. • 26. Fredrick Henry Alcoholism In horrible situations people will do anything to cope with the pain, fear, and hopelessness they experience. In a Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway, a young man named fredrick Henry is working as an ambulance driver in the Italian army. Fredrick is thrown into the horrors of war on a daily basis, and does what he can to deal with his emotions. Frederick Henry uses many different techniques in order to find some kind of inner peace and escape the horror of war. One of the most prominent coping methods, Fredrick Henry uses to escape his reality is consuming large amounts of alcohol, even though it is damaging to his health. Frederick Henry only cares about the immediate escape he gets from drinking the alcohol. He admits how alcohol makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A tragedy will occur, and he will describe it as though something horrific did not just happen. By doing this Fredrick Henry is able to detach himself from the horrors he has been through, in order to maintain his sanity. This detachment is first noticeable as early as the first chapter. While discussing an outbreak of cholera, Frederick Henry says At the start of the winter came the permanent rain and with the rain came the cholera. But it was checked and in the end only seven thousand died of it in the army (4). They key word here is only . Thousands of his fellow soldiers died and he brushes it off as though he was not phased in the least. Frederick Henry does not do this because he is a bad person, but because he can not face the reality of what has happened. He pretends it was not as tragic as it was, so he is able to escape his emotions. Frederick Henry continues to show his denial when he talks about how he feels about the war. Fredrick says Well, I knew I would not be killed. Not in this war. It did not have anything to do with me. It seemed no more dangerous to me myself than war in the movies (31). This quote puts emphasis on how detached Frederick Henry has become from the war. He is so far in denial that he does not even believe he can die. When he compares the war to war in the movies he shows how detached from reality he has become. He is man living the war every day, yet he compares it to something as innocent as the movies. Frederick Henry is so desperate to block out the reality of the war that he blocks out what is happening right in front of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Media and advertisements set their standards for men to be tall, muscular, board upper body, v line and have beards etc. Neither males nor females live without having standards set up for them by society and media. Widely held perceptions of beauty and perfection can have a deep and lasting cultural impact on both women and men. Some impact is that these standards will continue to exist in our future culture and both genders will never feel comfortable in their own skin/body. Both men and women would continue to judge themselves and their beauty. Magazines and advertisements usually have images of men without their shirts in order to show off their muscles and to attract customers. This makes members of society expect to see a six pack,v line and pectorals when a male takes off their shirt. This gives teenage boys fear to take off their shirt when going to the beach or smaller situations like going inside a pool because they are scared to be criticized for not being muscular. Magazines display images of these fake models for both men and women which creates intimidation. Study of mass media magazines discovered that women s magazines had 10.5 times more advertisements and articles promoting weight loss than men s magazines did (as cited in Guillen Barr.1944). Within the recent stretch of years especially, surrounding millennials and increase in crises, Christianity has entirely developed into a new beast. Due to hypocrisy within the Catholic Church, many are turned away by what it has become. The largest issues stem from the smallest of issues. A community grows from one individual, and if the individual takes on a different personality due to its environment, the community will become toxic. Catholicism is no longer about serving God, but changing and taking on a different persona entirely. Today, serving God seems to have fallen from priority, replaced by Gospel gossip and conforming. Much of this creates fairly hostile environments that pressure individuals to change themselves to fit the molds set before them. • 36. Diesel Powered Vehicles Initial purchasing costs of gas over diesel powered vehicles is usually a large factor that consumers take into account when purchasing a vehicle. Research has shown that on average, a diesel version versus gasoline version of the same vehicle, is $5,045 more than the gasoline version. (Vincentric, 2012) Consumers buying on a budget have to take these factors into consideration, which generally means that in more consumer oriented cars and SUVs, the gasoline version sells much better than the diesel. Common reasons for this is that usually consumers associate diesel engines with the loud, smoke blowing pickup trucks that smoke out an entire intersection. So people in the market for a vehicle that haven t done their homework on the diesel powered version are more than likely to pick the gasoline version. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now while diesel prices have averaged 14 percent more per gallon than gasoline over that last decade (Staff @ WorkTruckOnline, 2011), there is an equalizer in this whole situation. The diesel s fuel economy advantage over the gasoline powered version actually balances out the cost of the two fuels with each s relative fuel economy. A diesel vehicle emits more greenhouse gas emissions when burnt than gasoline, but its higher energy content per gallon results in higher fuel efficiency for the vehicle. So, as a result, the diesel can go further on a single gallon than a gasoline truck, meaning it produces very similar greenhouse gas emissions as the gasoline powered engine, while running nearly the same cost for fuel per mile as a gasoline powered ...
