What Are The Changes In Clothing During The Renaissance Era
These four pictures show sleeves in its elaborate glamor. During the Renaissance period, women
sleeves were exaggerated and elaborate in design. Sleeves were usually depicted in the bagpipe,
funnel, cylindrical, slashing, laced, and with hanging sleeves that served no particular function. The
first picture is a vintage haute couture costume that showed extremely exaggerated bagpipe sleeves.
According to the textbook, this was a popular fashion statement for the time period. The second
picture shows how a houppelande with sleeve openings may have looked, also this can be seen as a
loose fitting elongated funnel sleeve with an opening for the arms. Some of the pictures in the
textbook show how sleeves were long enough to drag on the ground, hence

Tourette Syndrome Essays
Tourette Syndrome
Tourette syndrome is an inherited severe neurological disorder usually occurring before the age of
eighteen and is associated with a degree of facial and body tics sometimes accompanied by random
declarations of phrases or obscenities (2,3). The facial and body tics associated with the disorder can
be painful and even embarrassing. Involuntary body movements such as jaw snapping, gyrating,
hopping, and obscene gesturing are to name a few (1). Tourette Syndrome was named after a French
neuropsychiatrist named Gilles de la Tourette who successfully assessed the disorder in the late 1800
s(3). Tourette Syndrome claims no specific race or ethnicity. The disorder generally can affect any

Associated with the motor tics experienced by the patient are sometimes more self destructive
behavior such as head banging, eye poking, and lip biting (1). There have also been cases of various
learning disabilities connected with Tourette Syndrome such as dyslexia (4).
Vocal tic behavior in patients diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome include outbursts of meaningless
words or phrases. The vocal tics disrupt the regular flow of speech and cause the patient to stammer or
stutter (1). Inappropriate outbursts called coprolalia are considered involuntary. Coprolalia may also
take place in this display of vocal tic disorder. However, coprolalia only takes place in a small number
of Tourette Syndrome sufferer s (1).
Each individual suffering from Tourette Syndrome should be evaluated as such. Certain manifestations
of Tourette Syndrome may disable one in certain parts of their life such as in their school performance,
while it may affect another s personality or psyche (3). It may affect a totally different behavioral
dimension in one s life than that of another diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome.
Although research on Tourette Syndrome is ongoing, it is believed that the disorder is

Organised Crime-Maritime Piracy, Smuggling and Human...
Organised Crime Maritime Piracy, Smuggling and Human Trafficking:
Organised crime groups will utilise the Indian Ocean space to conduct their illicit operations
(Hastings, 2012). Major crimes include piracy, smuggling and human trafficking. Piracy is a major
security challenge in the IOR as it threatens peace and regional stability, trade and commerce as well
as international energy movement (Herbert Burns, 2012). It has encountered a lot of attention within
the media as a successful means of financial gain through hijackings of private and merchant vessels.
Maritime piracy has been prevalent since the early 1990 s and occurs primarily around shipping lanes
(Lehr, 2013). In 2009, the list of reported piracy attacks was over four hundred, in which
approximately three hundred of those occurred in the IOR (Hastings, 2012). The operation usually
involves the pirates taking the crew or significant members of the crew (the captain) hostage and
asking their families or employer for a significant ransom (Laipson, 2009). These pirates will
commandeer or utilise the crew to steer the ships back to their country. The strategic location of
Somalia in the Horn of Africa, makes it an ideal departure location for piracy operations (Bhaskar
Kemp, 2011). The geographical chokepoint of the horn of Africa, in particular the Gulf of Aden, sees
regular vessel traffic and this promotes an ideal environment for piracy to thrive. In recent years,
piracy operations off the coast of Somalia have

A Little Under A Year
A little under a year ago I wrote in this place about an encounter I d had with Barry Sheerman MP and
a Virgin Trains snack box on a train travelling from Manchester to London. At the time, what most
bothered me about the snack box was its weird appearance: the cardboard printed with photo real
wickerwork so as to give the impression it was a sturdy hamper full of wholesome victuals ideal for a
leisurely picnic lunch, rather than the flimsy packet of salty and sugary titbits Richard Branson was
giving me for my real life meal.
I swore at the end of my column that I would keep the hideous snack box for ever to remind me never
to eat such toxic pap, but when I was tidying up my office the other day and came upon it looking just
as vile with its fake leather luggage tags that read, respectively, Virgin Trains and Follow a Different
Train of Thought I did indeed follow a different train of thought: I happen to be going up to
Manchester in a couple of days. Why don t I take the snack box with me and, when I get there, eat it?
Yes, yes, I know eating the contents of a Virgin Trains snack box at my age looks like giving in to a
dreadful taedium vitae, but I liked the idea of negating the entire Sheerman/Branson/snack box cluster
fuck by performing this odd little ritual; perhaps, I unreasoned, if I eat it mindfully enough I ll succeed
in flipping us all into a parallel universe where Richard Branson doesn t exist, and where the business

Hitchcock s Film Adaptation Of The 39 Steps
The 39 Steps is a theatrical production based on John Buchan s 1915 novel and Alfred Hitchcock s
1935 film. Unlike the original source material, the production was designed for four actors to play
over a hundred characters in total. Overall, it was an incredibly successful performance which did not
fail to bring in a good story and laughs throughout.
The story is set in Britain during the 1930s and the stage production shows points to this in a few
ways. The most noticeable hints I found towards the time period was the costumes, which is what
tends to draw my eye a lot. Alfred Hitchcock s film adaptation of The 39 Steps was very much in the
film noir style. Black and white colour scheme, somewhat melodramatic acting, the whole lot. While
the theatre production is not completely in this style, it still makes some allusions towards Hitchcock s
film. For example, the acting is still very hammy and overdramatic (though not in a bad way by any
means) and the main protagonist does monologue about himself.
The production has only four actors to play all the characters, around ... Show more content on

these three characters were distinct, made so by their different costumes and accents, it actually wasn t
that easy. When Pamela returned later in the play, it took me a good while to clue in that we had seen
her before. There was nothing instantly grabbing about that one role that made me instantly recognise
her so I thought it was simply a new character. Unlike Annabella or Margaret, Pamela didn t have a
noticeable German or Scottish accent and wasn t as melodramatic in her actions. In fact, Pamela had
so little impact on me that I completely forgot her

The Law And Ethics Of An Mba Program
More institutions of higher education are adding law and ethics curriculum to the lists of required
courses. After the legal and ethical scandals that occurred at companies such as Enron and accounting
firms such as Arthur Andersen, as well as the Ponzi schemes of Bernie Madoff, this seems like a
natural course of action for most colleges and universities. Because society uses law and ethics to
mold business, it makes sense to teach these in institutions of higher learning, but should these classes
also be taught in high school when young adults are getting their feet wet in the world of business? It
is important to study law and ethics in an MBA program because a comprehensive set of laws is not
enough, ethical relativism and religion lessen the public s ability to define right and wrong, and
elementary schools only teach obedience to laws and rules.
While society enforces thousands upon thousands of rules and laws, understanding the ethics and
reasons behind enactment of the laws are still missing in society. Immanuel Kant said it best in the
Categorical Imperative when he said, All maxims as proceeding from our own [hypothetical] making
of law ought to harmonize with a possible kingdom of ends (Kant, 2009, p. 75). If ethics is not being
taught in conjunction with lawmaking, then people will never understand the reasoning behind the
creation of the laws under which they must live. Ethics and law are deeply intertwined law is founded
on the ethics of the people writing

Amputation Psychology
There are many different ways to find how meaningful physicality is to an individual. Losing either a
friend, whether from a tragic loss or simply cutting ties or how it feels to physically lose a part of our
body can be life altering. The death of a beloved is an amputation. (C.S. Lewis). Both losses can cause
major heartache and sorrow, and the physical aspect might manifest on the outside as well. Losing a
loved one is like losing a limb; the amputation causes psychological trauma, the physical pain one
may endure, and the steps they take to recover. Psychological effects of losing someone are stress,
depression, anxiety, angry, numbness and other grieving symptoms. Grief is how we respond naturally
to a loss or any kind. A person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Losing a friend is an emotional feeling you may have. It may not be physically damaging as it would
be if you lost a limb in a car accident, but it still takes steps to recover. Losing a limb at first is mainly
physical but follows with grief and eventually acceptance. One may lose a job or not be able to
function physically like they could before. If a coworker or friend saw someone for the first time
without their arm or leg they may give a sympathetic look. This may make one feel insecure about
how the look and stop them from accepting the fact that they lost a

Truman s Vision Statement
When I enrolled at Truman State University, I did not realize how my race impacted me on both a
personal and global level. I believed we lived in a post racial society where race and ethnicity did not
matter. However, on Monday, November 24th, 2014, when officer Darren Wilson was not indicted for
the killing of Michael Brown, I experienced an epiphany. Race matters. Whether an individual

Klyukovski, I pondered how my institution dealt with diversity. He proposed examining Truman s
vision statement to understand what the institution will do when issues of diversity arise. After
conducting some preliminary research on vision statements and generic criticism, I knew this is what I
wanted to study. I was ecstatic that I was able to add to the scholarly conversation centered on vision
statements within higher education. It was incredible learning how such a short statement served as a
reminder of where an organization wants to go. During the McNair program, I discovered a part of me
that I never knew existed, a researcher. I never thought of myself as that because I believed
researchers were naturally smart, which I was not. However, intelligence is not determined by grades
or GPA. It is about grit, which I gained by never being the victim of my circumstances. As mentioned
earlier, coming to terms with my racial identity definitely impacted my academics. While I was
enraged by Truman s aura, I realized I could not let that take away from my mental energy anymore.
With the arrival of my senior year, I channeled all that frustration in graduate applications and studies
because unless I did well in those two avenues, I would not be leaving Truman anytime soon. Now, I

The Three Components Of Robert Sternberg s Theory Of Love
The triangular theory of love is a theory of loved developed by psychologist Robert Sternberg.
Presented in 1985, Sternberg was a member of the Psychology Department at Yale University. During
his time as a professor, Sternberg emphasized his research in the fields of intelligence, creativity,
wisdom, leadership, thinking styles, ethical reasoning, love, and hate. In the context of interpersonal
relationships, the three components of love, according to the triangular theory, are an intimacy
component, a passion component, and a decision/commitment component. ^(5)
There are three components of love as follows:
Passion: Passion can be associated with either physical arousal or emotional stimulation. Passion is
defined in three ways:
A strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something^
A strong feeling (such as anger) that causes people to act in a dangerous way
strong sexual or romantic feeling for someone
Intimacy: Intimacy is described as the feelings of closeness and attachment to one another. This tends
to strengthen the tight bond that is shared between those two individuals. Additionally, having a sense
of intimacy helps create the feeling of being at ease with one another, in the sense that the two parties
are mutual in their feelings. Intimacy is primarily defined as something of a personal or private nature;
familiarity.^
Commitment: Unlike the other two blocks, commitment involves a conscious decision to stick with
one another.

Motivate, Delegate and Empower
AC 2.2
Review own ability to motivate, delegate and empower others
For any business to be successful it needs motivated employees. They are the single most important
factor in the long term success of an organisation.
Empowerment refers to the employee s feeling of being effective, in control and influential.
Furthermore, empowerment positively impacts motivation, and motivation leads to better
performance.
Maslow s hierarchy of needs provides a foundational theory. It states that all employees have some
basic needs that must first be satisfied in order to provide the framework for further motivation and
empowerment.
There are five levels in the hierarchy: * Physiological needs * Safety and security needs * Love or ...

Herzberg showed that to truly motivate an employee a business needs to create conditions that make
him or her feel fulfilled in the workplace.
Delegation is one of the most important management skills as it empowers the team member to make
decisions. However, the person who delegated the work remains accountable for the outcome of the
delegated work.
Delegation can save money and time, help in building skills, and motivate people. Poor delegation, on
the other hand, might cause frustration and confusion to all the involved parties.
Tannenbaum amp; Schmidt defined 7 levels of delegated freedom which moves from manager
oriented to subordinate oriented. As the team develops, the area of freedom for the subordinate
increases and the need for the manager s intervention decreases.
Within my team I have tried to improve motivation through several initiatives:
One member of my team seemed to be becoming disillusioned with her role and so I spent some time
with her trying to establish the root cause of this.
Having asked several questions I established that she felt bored with her daily routine and wanted a
fresh challenge.
I took notes of our meeting and produced a plan with her which involved a gradual phasing in of more

The True Value of Loyalty Essay
Now I was the one under the microscope, the one who had to prove my worthiness (Hosseini 184).
This quote demonstrates the role switch that encourages Amir to change the disloyal person he was
previously into the person he is at the novel s end. Hassan is constantlyys tormented by Amir s
meaningless tests to prove Hassan s loyalty. Now, it is Amir who has to prove to the world, and also to
himself that he is worthy of Hassan s endless sincerity and devotion. Khaled Hosseini does an
excellent job of portraying this transformation in his writing. Hosseini s novel, The Kite Runner,
illustrates the value of loyalty in the relationships between Hassan and Amir, Sanaubar and Sohrab,

Sanaubar does take an interest, Hassan already moves on onto the next stage in his life. Sanaubar
finally realizes what she misses by leaving Ali and Hassan. Sohrab is the perfect situation to show her
true loyalty, as shown through this excerpt: I remember Sanaubar came out of the hut, holding her
grandson, had him wrapped in a wool blanket. She stood beaming under a dull grey sky, tears
streaming down her cheeks, the needle cold wind blowing her hair, and clutching that baby in her
arms like she never wanted to let go. Not this time. (211).
The Kite Runner contains excellent examples of symbols, and a possible symbol in the book is
Sohrab. When reading a book, objects or things are distinctly seen as symbols rather than people.
Sohrab stands out as a character that has such an influence on others that he could be considered on of
The Kite Runner s symbols. He is the only thing that Amir can connect to from his former life after
Baba passed and Rahim Khan disappeared. He is the exact person that Sanaubar needed to come into

Introduction (2 paragraphs)
PG 145 IN WORKBOOK
Define ethical issue and introduce your health topic explaining why it is an
ethical issue. (Use and reference NZ statistics / information).
The ethical issue is Euthanasia, there are many groups that support or oppose this issue. Euthanasia is
the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible
coma. The different viewpoints are based around whether it is humane to assist someone in dying and
whether it should be illegal for someone to assist the death of someone who has a terminal illness and
are suffering incurable pain. Groups that oppose the issue generally believe that it is inhumane to end
someone s life early, these groups generally believe these people should be given care and as much
comfort as possible until their last days. Groups that support the issue generally believe that if
someone has lost their mental state or are suffering unbearable pain that cannot be cured, that they
should be allowed the option of euthanasia because it is inhumane to make someone suffer unbearable
pain if they do not need to. An ethical issue brings systems of morality and principles into conflict,
ethical issues are more subjective and opinionated and generally cannot be solved with facts, laws and

The citadels of the Harappa culture provide modern society with information regarding the

important to distribute true teaching so that students can act and think in a cohesive manner. The Veda
s source of revelation was not a deity. Instead three schools were formed to communicate the
teachings of the Veda. The reading states, In every generation, specialists in Vedic hermeneutics have
worked to make texts messages relevant to the particular time and place (p.35). It is interesting how
Vedic hermeneutics have effectively altered the way Hinduism is received. They have effectively
altered the way Hinduism is received by tailoring the religion to societies needs. I have always
subscribed to the ideas of Karma and Samsara. Though I do not subscribe to the idea of death. I
believe that life is a continuation of an infinite reality. I am unsure of the idea of karma because good
and evil are relative terms. Truth, in religion, should be universal. It is true that in order to achieve
liberation, one must obtain a transformative experiential wisdom. Societies focus on external
development make obtaining this experiential wisdom increasingly difficult. The idea of obtaining
wisdom to avoid death suggests that wisdom is freeing oneself from ideas and

The Potato Peeler Analysis
The Potato Peeler (1885) (Fig. 1) (reverse: Self Portrait with a Straw Hat) (1887) (Fig. 2) by Vincent
van Gogh (1853 1890) is one of many paintings that lack highly saturated hues and colors by van
Gogh. Many have a misconception that his darker and less saturated paintings come from a short time
in his life when he experimented with dark colors; the reality is that his more saturated paintings were
not developed until the last four years of his life and his less saturated pieces come from a longer
period in his life. Given how different the two pieces are, one can assume they are unrelated; but they
really show how much he grew as an artist and how much he challenged himself to move from less
saturated still lifes, portraits, etc. to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Much, if not all, of his work before 1886 was very similar; he used vibrant color infrequently if it all
and painted dark landscapes, still lifes, and portraits (like The Potato Peeler). It was not until he left
for France in 1886 that he decided to focus more on himself, thus transforming his style into what we
recognize more easily today. There seems to be a misconception that he had always painted with
vibrant colors and little thick strokes; but he only painted using vibrant and highly saturated colors for
a brief time in his life as stated before. Van Gogh was influenced by Jean François Millet to paint rural
scenes. In the winter of 1884 to 1885, van Gogh painted more that 40 portrait studies of peasants,
including The Potato Peeler (Department of European Paintings). These studies would then lead to his
piece The Potato Eaters as seen in Fig. 3. Van Gogh was inspired to portray rural life this way because
he intended to relay to the viewers a feeling of the coarseness of rural life (Stotland, 387). Van Gogh
was more focused on life around him and depicting it in a more humanistic way. Although the use of
light and shadow may be exaggerated to some extent, the color stays accurate to what humans do look
like. A few more minor pieces were painted after in the same style as The Potato Peeler; but after his
move to France, his style changes to the more vibrant and impressionist style we know today. Van

Modern Family Vs. Present Family Essay
1950s Family vs. Present Family There is always that one question that has been on everyone s mind,
what does a real family look like? What is a family? What are mothers supposed to do? fathers?
children? What are their gender roles? Well, during the 1950s, there were many families whom
believed that the show I Love Lucy portrayed the perfect family, but that was back in the good old
days . It has been more than 50 years and there are still current shows today that portray a perfect
family, in different ways. The American television series, Modern Family portrays one big perfect
straight, gay, diverse, traditional family. These televisions hit series are informing the audience how a
perfect family is supposed to be but some in a positive way and others in a negative way. Well, the real
answer is that the 1950s were not the good old days . For example, in the television hit series, Modern
Family , episode 2 and 3 season 1, portrays an imagine of what the key is to being a great dad . The
first family (Jay, Gloria and Manny) take a while to respond to this question but towards the end of the
episode Jay says, Sometimes things work out just the way you want. Sometimes they don t. You have
to hang in there. 90% of being a dad is just showing up . The way Jay responds to the question shows
that he is very sympathetic and wants Manny to still view his father, Javier, as the prince he describes
as. Javier was not able to take Manny to Disneyland and let Jay know,

Plains Indian Culture
The term Plains Indian refers to a group of indigenous people who lived on the interior plains of both
Midwest America and the southern Canada. Their culture was traditionally nomadic as they survived
by hunting and gathering, and often followed the migration of the American Bison. The Bison
provided them with their main resource as they used its hide, bones, fat, and fur to make clothing,
housing, and tools. Teepees were their traditional form of housing (Roth, 1923)because they were
easily constructed and then dismantled to fit the Plains Indian s transient lifestyle. Several other
unique aspects of their lifestyle have become a part of the stereotypical American Indian depicted in
film and literature such as their reliance on domesticated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the 19th century, Plains Indians began to frequently sew small glass beads to their garments
and other personal items. The attractive beads were manufactured in the sophisticated glass shops of
Venice and reached the West by long and winding trade routes that began in Europe and crossed the
Atlantic to connect with seaboard commerce in the fledgling United States (Loeb, 1990). A few beads
were then carried across the country by early explorers such as Meriwether Lewis and William Clark,
while others found their way into trading systems controlled by indigenous people. Some Native
American groups of the northern West actually acquired European beads before they ever saw
European people (Loeb, 1990). Permanent trading posts soon provided women with a steady supply of
beads, and Venetian glass blowers were beginning to emphasize a tiny product called a seed bead,
which they produced in dozens of colors. As a result of these changes, the craft women who lived in
the middle of the nineteenth century began to refine the art of beading using their ample bead supplies
in a rainbow of colors. Within decades the Blackfeet, Crow, Sioux, Cheyenne, and Kiowa, as well as
neighboring plateau and Great Basin groups, were evolving distinctive styles and encrusting horse
gear, dress yokes, vests, bags, cradle tops, and a whole array of other impressive items with beads

The Sherman Act Of 1890
A Sherman Act of 1890 The Sherman Act of 1890 as referenced in McConnell and Campbell (2011),
consists of two main regulations; Section 1 Every contract, combination in the form of a trust or
otherwise, or conspiracy, in restraint of trade or commerce among the several States, or with foreign
nations is declared to be illegal. Section 2 Every person who shall monopolize, or attempt to
monopolize, or combine or conspire with any person or persons, to monopolize any part of the trade or
commerce among the several states, or with foreign nations, shall be deemed guilty of a felony (as
later amended from misdemeanor ). (p.375) The historical context of the Sherman Act lies in the
corporate climate of the United States during the time period preceding the creation of these antitrust
laws. At that time the market was dominated by several monopolies in industries such as railroads,
tobacco production, meatpacking and coal mining. The US Government determined the monopolies
did not provide enough fair competition in those industries to provide protection of consumers. The
Sherman Act of 1890 created the legislation to declare the existing monopolies illegal and made
violation of the Act a felony, essentially deeming the existing monopolies in violation of the law.
These two regulations made common practices such as price fixing and market divisions illegal. The
Sherman Act would open the doors for individuals and government agencies such as the U.S

Homoeroticism In The Picture Of Dorian Gray
Wilde s sexuality and effeminate nature shaped his relations to the natural beauty of the world, which
in turn manifested itself in the moral implications of his now famous works. For example, his very
own personal ordeals are envisaged through the passages of The Picture of Dorian Gray, and it has
been passionately hypothesized that characters such as Basil, Dorian, and Lord Henry are personalities
of Wilde s own flamboyant character. In an interpretation written by Donald H Ericksen, Wilde had
written the following: Basil in how I see myself, Lord Henry how the world sees me and Dorian how I
would like to be . The discussions surrounding The Picture of Dorian Gray were linked to the
egregious homoeroticism displayed through the synergy of Wilde s characters and how they interacted
with each other. In a time of irrational Victorian thinking, it comes as no surprise that Wilde s writing
had evoked such a backlash. For people during the Victorian period, Wilde s male characters and the
relationships in which they maintained were more than abundantly suggestive to enable thoughts of
disgust in even the most tolerant of people. Wilde s own sexual orientation laid out for the reader just
how these relationships were assembled. In the opening of The Picture of Dorian Gray, ... Show more

the denunciation of Oscar Wilde, and to the overwhelming amount of investigation used to examine

Nocturnal Enuresis
The causes and treatments
Joon Hee Bang (S) Enuresis Enuresis is defined as a repeated involuntary urination of individuals
old enough to be expected to exercise such control. Most girls can stay dry by age six and most boys
by age seven. Enuresis can be classified into three different types; Diurnal enuresis, Nocturnal
enuresis and Mixed enuresis. Diurnal enuresis and Nocturnal enuresis are daytime and night time
wetting respectively. These two types are also known as monosymptomatic. When these two
symptoms occur simultaneously, it is then known as Mixed enuresis (nonmonosymptomatic). Most of

Primary enuresis is when a patient did not experience a period of controlled voiding, where as
secondary is referred to as repetition of bedwetting after having been dry at night for more than 6
months. Other than this, primary and secondary enuresis are similar in terms of clinical presentations,
as they show common pathogenesis. The factors implicated in the pathogenesis of enuresis include a
disorder affecting arousal from sleep, nocturnal polyuria, and a reduced nocturnal bladder capacity.
These factors will be discussed further on later.
Requisites of controlled urination There are two main points that are considered important for ability
of controlled voiding. Firstly, the sufficient production of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) , which reduces
urine production at night. Moreover, one has to be able to wake up themselves when the bladder is
full. Treatment such as the bedwetting alarms and DDAVP tablets are based on these factors, in order
to cure and improve them.
Etiology of Enuresis There are several different conditions that may precipitate secondary enuresis.
First of all, cystitis and constipation are both associated with reduced functional bladder capacity
which may lead to enuresis. However, parents are often unaware of these conditions in their child. In
one cross sectional study of 277 children with enuresis, in which parental reporting of constipation
was compared with a clinician s assessment,

Newton s Three Laws of Motion
Newton s 3 Laws of Motion
One of the most influential and top contributors to the world of physics to me is Sir Isaac Newton.
Father of modern science, Sir Isaac Newton was born on January 4th, 1643 in Woolsthorpe by
Colsterworth, United Kingdom and died on March 31st 1727, Kensington, London, United Kingdom.
He was an English physicist and mathematician who formulated three laws of motion that help explain
some of the very important principles of physics. Some of Newton s laws could only be proved under
certain conditions; but actual observation and trial experiments assured the validity of his work.
According to Isaac Newton s laws he tells us how objects move by describing the relationship
between force and motion.
The First Law of Isaac Newton s laws of motion states that an object at rest will stay at rest until acted
on by larger force. When the object is at rest it is called inertia. Objects in motion will stay in motion
until stopped by a larger force. What this simply means is that an object will not move if an
unbalanced force does not affect it. It also states that if the object begins to move, that the object will
continue to move in the same direction until a larger force stops the object. Example if you were to put
a dodge ball on a computer chair (roll able chair) and were to roll the chair the dodge ball and the
chair would be moving in the same direction. If you were to stop the chair, the dodge ball would fling

The Diel-Alder Nucleophilic Acyl Substitution
The Diel Alder/Nucleophilic Acyl Substitution Cascade Reaction Introduction The Diels Alder
reaction was discovered and named after the Nobel Prize winning scientists Kurt Alder and Otto Diels
in 1928. Such a reaction occurs when a diene with two adjacent double bonds is mixed with a
dienophile consisting of a double bond in order to create a cyclohexene. The diene must be in the s cis
conformation in order for the electron transfer to engage correctly. If the diene in question is in s trans
conformation then the access to the molecules is limited, thus, no reaction can occur. The dienophile
we used was maleic anhydride. Maleic anhydride possesses high electron withdrawing characteristics
which caused a very quick reaction. The reaction will

One Of Ours Book Cover Analysis
This book cover is appealing to me because it shows a peaceful farm with clouds hovering above it.
The cover depicts the first part of the novel when Claude is one his farm in Nebraska. It shows his
farm and his fortunate house in the view, and has peaceful shades of color making it an attractive book
cover. I chose this image because One of Ours by Willa Cather has several different book covers. This
is one of the most appealing to me because they not only provide a pretty picture but provide an
illustration of events that occurred in the novel. This book cover, in particular, illustrates the days that
Claude had on the farm in the first two parts of the novel. It is also the farm that Claude grew up in so
it would only be logical for it to provide a feeling of tranquility and calmness when looking at a
hometown. It may even remind someone of their own hometown, and all of the joys and memories
made as a child. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has the Nebraskan tone to it because there is nothing but crops for miles. This could represent the
blandness or emptiness that Claude felt while he was still in Nebraska with his family. In the cover all
that is shown is Claude working on the crops by cutting them down. This hard task is dull and could
represent the blandness and lack of interesting things in his time in Nebraska. Nebraska is usually
associated with the Great Plains and its rural locations that farmers live on. It appears, because of the
use of colors, that it is similar to other mid western works of art. I like this art because it can directly
relate to Claude if were to have survived the war. The piece of art reminds me of The Grapes of Wrath
cover because of the colors and the rural feeling it has. Obviously, the scene shown would have taken
place early on in the novel because he is still manually working on the farm by himself. (Homer n.p).

Racial Profiling Racism
Racial Profiling occurs in every region of the world. Everybody will judge you based on your race and
ethnicity. Racial profiling happens in our daily life, just like in the film Us Against the World . The
film showed how the people from Knott County did not accept the players from Cordia since they
came from another place and people were against them because of their race. Racial profiling is a
huge problem in our society and we should treat everybody equally. Racial profiling affects our
everyday life by showing how different people are being judged base on their background, skin tone,
race and ethnicity. In the film, Us against the World showed how the players from Cordia was being
racial profiled. It was a challenge for Cordia s players since they have to go through unexpected
changes in their families while have to deal with racism. They were coming into Kentucky which is a
racially charge state. For example, people were treating them differently, They have been told the N
word. They have been told they need to go back to Africa (episode 1). This shows that just because
they are black they are treating them differently. The people from Lotts Creek was mad because the
superintendent from Knott County, Kim King stated, Coach Rhodes s contract will not be renewed for
next season because she said that he have a poor relationship with Principal Mullins and neglect of
duty ( Kim King,Episode 2). This shows that they didn t want the players and the coach to be there.
Everybody was against them and it was a challenge for them, Everybody have enemies but I just think
about me ( Oumar Keita). This mean that even though the players from Cordia was being racial
profiled, it would not stop them from reaching their goals. Racial profiling was a difficult situation to
control and there was a huge tension between Knott County High School and Cordia high school.
They did not let people supports Coach Rhodes, If they were to stand behind Rodrick Rhodes, they
can lose their jobs in a matter of days, I have been told to be quite (Carl Smith Cordia school parent,

Behavioral Matrix And Classroom Behavior
Part 1: Behavioral Matrix
A behavioral matrix creates the expectations for student behavior in the classroom and school campus.
A school wide behavioral matrix lists the school wide expectations for various times, location and

school wide behavioral matrix and classroom matrix should contain the rules that are listed in the
school wide expectations. These rules and expectations are displayed as a matrix, which is posted in
classrooms, gym, cafeteria, hallway, and bus. According to Knoff (2007), behavioral matrix sets the
behavioral expectations expectation within specific settings and contexts for students and hold them
accountable. Table 1 reflects dangerous behavioral problems categorized in the Level IV as explained

side of the border, their life will be different than the one they have left behind; will it be wonder, or
despair for these illegal immigrants? Illegal immigration is an issue which has followed the United
States for centuries to come, and with illegal immigrants by its side, gradually increasing the situation.
The illegal immigrants found in the United States should be granted the path to citizenship. Every day,

According to the book, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, it states, The millions of those
illegal immigrants currently residing in the United States are overwhelming law abiding, tax paying,
and hard working. By granting them citizenship, they can do much more (The Current Controversies,
97). The undocumented immigrants have broken the law by entering the United States without a
document but, the reason is because they could not wait from months to years for a reply of whether
they can be a legal immigrant or not. When they work, they are hardworking, and law abiding, with no
problems occurring during their work. The lives of others are not affected by their working, and when
granted the path of citizenship, from their personality of being law abiding. These undocumented
immigrants created less trouble for our daily lives because we are able to accomplish more jobs,
produce more products, and develop more improvement in the economy, that everyday lives would be
as easy as pie. Furthermore, the granting of citizenship benefits in decreasing the rate of crimes. Based
on U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, it states, The vast majority want to stay in America to
work and so naturally steer clear of breaking any laws. Therefore, less crimes will be in America (The
Current Controversies, 96). As more undocumented immigrants enter the country of the United States,
they seek for work as their new life begins. Some of these undocumented immigrants stay in front of
stores such as 7/11, waiting for someone to hire them for work. The enlargement in the population of
the undocumented immigrants does not cause trouble for the citizens, but rather put them in ease.
They (the undocumented immigrants) are not seeking for fights, or gangs to join, rather, they want to
live peacefully, and work to live a decent life in the

Essay on The attack on Pearl Harbor
The attack on Pearl Harbor on the morning of December 7, 1941 will forever be immortalized in the
words of President Roosevelt as a date which will live in infamy , yet the bombing of Nagasaki and
Hiroshima were far more deadly and carried greater geo political implications. Many persons in the
United States carried the burden of assisting in designing, deploying and eventually dropping the first
and only nuclear weapons used in an act of war, yet Paul Tibbets s experience is unique. As a
Lieutenant Coronel in the U.S. Army, Tibbets was tasked with the organizing, planning, staging and
flying the mission to drop the bombs. His orders lead him and to face many personal sacrifices, and
living with the responsibility for killing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coronel Tibbetts formed the unit as a composite group, or self sufficient group, that operated under it s
own authority and personnel, and was excluded from working with units other than those that were
directly under Tibbets s command in order to maintain a heightened level of security and secrecy
because of the nature of their mission. Major Robert A. Lewis, who was Tibbets co pilot on the Anola
Gay, recalls The day we arrived Tibbets mounted a sound truck and told us that we were an extra
special unit in many ways. He said first, we would be completely self sustaining, that we would have
our own engineering, troop carrier, and ordnance groups even our own control tower. He ended by
saying, You will not talk about this project to anyone. Don t even speculate amongst yourselves ....
anyone who does not want to stay under these conditions can get a transfer right now (Tozer 71). The
security restrictions around the base and the men lasted for more than 11 months; and because of the
heightened level of trained and trusted men understood the need for such an information blackout, the
secret was never leaked. The 509th composite group was officially activated on December 17, 1944.
The 1,800 member unit was of the highest caliber of solider, Comprised of hand picked machinist,

The Portrayal Of Women In The Movies
Women are portrayed in this movie as the housewives that stayed home all day. They would cook,
clean, and take care of their children. For example, in the movie, a woman of any race was not
allowed outside of her house because they were not with their husband or had their boyfriend s
permission. In addition, the men told their girlfriends or wives that they were going out to drink, and
never did they think that they should invite their wife s and girl friends because they felt that they
were too dumb to go to a gang meeting and it was no place for a woman to be. Moreover, a white girl
wanted to join the Jets gang and was told to go home, and that the streets were not a place for women.
In comparison to during the fight scenes, the women are

Summary Of A Thing Like Me
A Thing Like Me
Carr begins chapter 10, A Thing Like Me, with Joseph Weizenbaum, a MIT PC researcher who
imagined a PC program that could parse and react to language. The program was called ELIZA. ELZA
could recognize speech patterns and could rephrase sentences in question form and was displayed to
have the identity of a psychotherapist. When ELIZA first appeared in the 60 s, some people actually
mistook her for human.
A Thing Like Me is probably one of the most vital chapters in this book because it comes to the
conclusion that computers are taking over our lives. Our group agrees came to the conclusion that
when Carr argues point he does it so subtle that the reader may not realize that its only his opinion.
His argument that people are becoming too dependent on technology is weaved through the
explanation of ELIZA: a computer application program that offered a mechanic clarity, replacing
language s human messiness with a clean internal computer. (202)
ELIZA software was used in helping to treat mental illnesses: patients were able to talk to a machine
instead of a psychotherapist. The outcome of this experiment showed that if the patient couldn t tell
whether he or she was talking to a computer, the computer is just a valuable as a therapist. Carr uses
this to argue and prove that people can be easily replaced by technology.
To comprehend the impacts of a PC, Weizenbaum contended that one needed to see the machine with
regards to our past technologies and

The Influence Of Terra Nullius On Indigenous Australia s...
Buchan and Heath argue that the term terra nullius was used to create a false construct of Australia and
it s Aboriginal people. Terra Nullius resulted in Britain justifying illegal colonisation of Aboriginal
land and denigrating Aboriginal Australians by ignoring their sovereignty despite failing to either
conquer or form treaties with Aboriginal Australia people.
The term terra nullius means nobody s land and was what the British colonists declared Australian
territory was when they landed on the shores in 1788 (Hollinsworth 2006). Colonists saw upon arrival
that Australia was inhabited by Indigenous people, however because of lack of cultivation and societal
systems like Europeans had established, they concluded that the land was now owned by them and
hence no treaty or conquest was required before they could lawfully reside on the land. ... Show more

Self proclaimed Darwinist Lewis Morgan contended during the period of colonisation that there were
three periods of civilisation; the Savage, Barbaric and the Civilised, the savage was characterised by
simply existence and living off the land whereas the civilised used phonic alphabet systems,
ownership of property and some sort of established state system (Morgan, 1877).
Buchan and Heath (2006) argue that Indigenous Australian people could never meet these British
standards of civilisation because it was built on a solidly Eurocentric template of what constitutes a
State, property, and cultivation, therefore, the term savage was possible constructed to aid the
description of Australia as terra nullius, rather than

Essay On The Clarinet
One of these, the chalumeau (a term also used for a double reed instrument), was known to Denner;
apparently his attempts to refine the chalumeau led to his invention of the clarinet. (Adullah, M et al.
2015). Johann Christoph Denner was a German musician who is said to have created the first known
clarinet. He made and improved many woodwind instruments. He also had children who helped him
work. Johann Christoph Denner created the clarinet, worked interdependently to innovate ways to
overcome the small note range of the chalumeau, and illuminated the world by making the chalumeau
into what is now a common modern day instrument.
Johann Christoph Denner created the clarinet soon after 1698 (Barrett, G. 1999). (Adullah, M et al.
2015). The clarinet is a woodwind instrument with a single reed. A clarinet has many different keys,
and each of them helps produce a different note. The keys were of ... Show more content on

Many bands and orchestras today include clarinet players. Marching bands are usually also seen with
clarinet players. The clarinet s tone is really very complimentary to strings and vice versa (Denner, J.
2008). The clarinet is also used in some jazz bands. The sound is somewhat mysterious, allowing it to
be used in many different pieces by different people. His friend, Anton Salder was a virtuosic basset
hornist and Mozart fell in love with the mellow, dark tone of the clarinet (Denner, J. 2008). This
instrument is loved for its beautiful sound. In conclusion, the clarinet is well known instrument that
started because of Denner.
Johann Christoph Denner turned the chalumeau into the modern clarinet with the help of many other
individuals by adding a register key. Many people today enjoy the clarinet s beautiful sound alongside
other instruments in bands. He was a great musician that changed bands and symphonies in his time
and now. What Denner did in the near 1700s has changed music for many

The Nature In Crossing By Mark Slouka
The Nature is many things.
It s one of the realest places to be. The Nature won t lie to you or adjust the reality just so it will please
you. The Nature doesn t care, it does what it wants and then you d just have to deal with it. It
challenges you, forces you to face the reality and most important of all, it makes you confront your
deepest fears and get answers for questions, you didn t even know you had.
Crossing is a short story written by Mark Slouka. It s about a father, who s going on a field trip with
his son. The father has just been divorced and hasn t been happy for a long time, but the nostalgia
about the trip, which he also went on with his own father, and having to spend time with his son,
makes him feel happy.
The short story is told with a third person limited narrator and from the father s point of view. The
narrator is descriptive, the surroundings are all very well described, and there s both indirect and direct
speech throughout the story. The indirect speech is often used when the father thinks back on
conversations he had earlier in his life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trip the father and his son go on is out in the nature to a place, where the father seemed to spend a
lot of time when he was young and river crossing is a familiar activity of his. They had to cross the
river twice, on their way to the barn where they d camp and on their way home again. The river plays
a huge part in the story therefore it s important to understand its meaning and significance. The Nature
can reflect ones deepest fears and the father s fears takes form of the river, where he later comes to
face them. Firstly, the river makes him scared. It s been a long time since he had last seen it. He
remembered it differently, not as strong and big as it has come to be. Well there she is, he said. (p.2,
l.41) He refers to the river as she, he endowed the river with spirit and as it s described, she s a very

During the Renaissance period, women sleeves were exaggerated and elaborate in design. Sleeves were usually depicted in the bagpipe, funnel, cylindrical, slashing, laced, and with hanging sleeves that served no particular function. The first picture is a vintage haute couture costume that showed extremely exaggerated bagpipe sleeves. According to the textbook, this was a popular fashion statement for the time period. The second picture shows how a houppelande with sleeve openings may have looked, also this can be seen as a loose fitting elongated funnel sleeve with an opening for the arms. Involuntary body movements such as jaw snapping, gyrating, hopping, and obscene gesturing are to name a few (1). • 4. Organised Crime-Maritime Piracy, Smuggling and Human... Organised Crime Maritime Piracy, Smuggling and Human Trafficking: Organised crime groups will utilise the Indian Ocean space to conduct their illicit operations (Hastings, 2012). Major crimes include piracy, smuggling and human trafficking. Piracy is a major security challenge in the IOR as it threatens peace and regional stability, trade and commerce as well as international energy movement (Herbert Burns, 2012). It has encountered a lot of attention within the media as a successful means of financial gain through hijackings of private and merchant vessels. Maritime piracy has been prevalent since the early 1990 s and occurs primarily around shipping lanes (Lehr, 2013). In 2009, the list of reported piracy attacks was over four hundred, in which approximately three hundred of those occurred in the IOR (Hastings, 2012). The operation usually involves the pirates taking the crew or significant members of the crew (the captain) hostage and asking their families or employer for a significant ransom (Laipson, 2009). These pirates will commandeer or utilise the crew to steer the ships back to their country. The strategic location of Somalia in the Horn of Africa, makes it an ideal departure location for piracy operations (Bhaskar Kemp, 2011). The geographical chokepoint of the horn of Africa, in particular the Gulf of Aden, sees regular vessel traffic and this promotes an ideal environment for piracy to thrive. In recent years, piracy operations off the coast of Somalia have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Little Under A Year A little under a year ago I wrote in this place about an encounter I d had with Barry Sheerman MP and a Virgin Trains snack box on a train travelling from Manchester to London. At the time, what most bothered me about the snack box was its weird appearance: the cardboard printed with photo real wickerwork so as to give the impression it was a sturdy hamper full of wholesome victuals ideal for a leisurely picnic lunch, rather than the flimsy packet of salty and sugary titbits Richard Branson was giving me for my real life meal. I swore at the end of my column that I would keep the hideous snack box for ever to remind me never to eat such toxic pap, but when I was tidying up my office the other day and came upon it looking just as vile with its fake leather luggage tags that read, respectively, Virgin Trains and Follow a Different Train of Thought I did indeed follow a different train of thought: I happen to be going up to Manchester in a couple of days. Why don t I take the snack box with me and, when I get there, eat it? Yes, yes, I know eating the contents of a Virgin Trains snack box at my age looks like giving in to a dreadful taedium vitae, but I liked the idea of negating the entire Sheerman/Branson/snack box cluster fuck by performing this odd little ritual; perhaps, I unreasoned, if I eat it mindfully enough I ll succeed in flipping us all into a parallel universe where Richard Branson doesn t exist, and where the business empire that occupies the same ... • 6. Hitchcock s Film Adaptation Of The 39 Steps The 39 Steps is a theatrical production based on John Buchan s 1915 novel and Alfred Hitchcock s 1935 film. Unlike the original source material, the production was designed for four actors to play over a hundred characters in total. Overall, it was an incredibly successful performance which did not fail to bring in a good story and laughs throughout. The story is set in Britain during the 1930s and the stage production shows points to this in a few ways. The most noticeable hints I found towards the time period was the costumes, which is what tends to draw my eye a lot. Alfred Hitchcock s film adaptation of The 39 Steps was very much in the film noir style. Black and white colour scheme, somewhat melodramatic acting, the whole lot. While the theatre production is not completely in this style, it still makes some allusions towards Hitchcock s film. For example, the acting is still very hammy and overdramatic (though not in a bad way by any means) and the main protagonist does monologue about himself. The production has only four actors to play all the characters, around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While these three characters were distinct, made so by their different costumes and accents, it actually wasn t that easy. When Pamela returned later in the play, it took me a good while to clue in that we had seen her before. There was nothing instantly grabbing about that one role that made me instantly recognise her so I thought it was simply a new character. • 7. The Law And Ethics Of An Mba Program More institutions of higher education are adding law and ethics curriculum to the lists of required courses. After the legal and ethical scandals that occurred at companies such as Enron and accounting firms such as Arthur Andersen, as well as the Ponzi schemes of Bernie Madoff, this seems like a natural course of action for most colleges and universities. Because society uses law and ethics to mold business, it makes sense to teach these in institutions of higher learning, but should these classes also be taught in high school when young adults are getting their feet wet in the world of business? It is important to study law and ethics in an MBA program because a comprehensive set of laws is not enough, ethical relativism and religion lessen the public s ability to define right and wrong, and elementary schools only teach obedience to laws and rules. While society enforces thousands upon thousands of rules and laws, understanding the ethics and reasons behind enactment of the laws are still missing in society. Immanuel Kant said it best in the Categorical Imperative when he said, All maxims as proceeding from our own [hypothetical] making of law ought to harmonize with a possible kingdom of ends (Kant, 2009, p. 75). If ethics is not being taught in conjunction with lawmaking, then people will never understand the reasoning behind the creation of the laws under which they must live. The Ethical Issue Of Euthanasia 91464 Analyse a contemporary issue in relation to well being Introduction (2 paragraphs) PG 145 IN WORKBOOK Define ethical issue and introduce your health topic explaining why it is an ethical issue. (Use and reference NZ statistics / information). The ethical issue is Euthanasia, there are many groups that support or oppose this issue. Euthanasia is the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible coma. The different viewpoints are based around whether it is humane to assist someone in dying and whether it should be illegal for someone to assist the death of someone who has a terminal illness and are suffering incurable pain. Groups that oppose the issue generally believe that it is inhumane to end someone s life early, these groups generally believe these people should be given care and as much comfort as possible until their last days. While it is important to maintain the original message of the Vedas, it is also important to distribute true teaching so that students can act and think in a cohesive manner. The Veda s source of revelation was not a deity. Instead three schools were formed to communicate the teachings of the Veda. They have effectively altered the way Hinduism is received by tailoring the religion to societies needs. I have always subscribed to the ideas of Karma and Samsara. Though I do not subscribe to the idea of death. I believe that life is a continuation of an infinite reality. I am unsure of the idea of karma because good and evil are relative terms. The Potato Peeler Analysis The Potato Peeler (1885) (Fig. 1) (reverse: Self Portrait with a Straw Hat) (1887) (Fig. 2) by Vincent van Gogh (1853 1890) is one of many paintings that lack highly saturated hues and colors by van Gogh. Many have a misconception that his darker and less saturated paintings come from a short time in his life when he experimented with dark colors; the reality is that his more saturated paintings were not developed until the last four years of his life and his less saturated pieces come from a longer period in his life. There seems to be a misconception that he had always painted with vibrant colors and little thick strokes; but he only painted using vibrant and highly saturated colors for a brief time in his life as stated before. Van Gogh was influenced by Jean François Millet to paint rural scenes. In the winter of 1884 to 1885, van Gogh painted more that 40 portrait studies of peasants, including The Potato Peeler (Department of European Paintings). These studies would then lead to his piece The Potato Eaters as seen in Fig. 3. Van Gogh was inspired to portray rural life this way because he intended to relay to the viewers a feeling of the coarseness of rural life (Stotland, 387). Van Gogh was more focused on life around him and depicting it in a more humanistic way. The attractive beads were manufactured in the sophisticated glass shops of Venice and reached the West by long and winding trade routes that began in Europe and crossed the Atlantic to connect with seaboard commerce in the fledgling United States (Loeb, 1990). A few beads were then carried across the country by early explorers such as Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, while others found their way into trading systems controlled by indigenous people. Some Native American groups of the northern West actually acquired European beads before they ever saw European people (Loeb, 1990). Permanent trading posts soon provided women with a steady supply of beads, and Venetian glass blowers were beginning to emphasize a tiny product called a seed bead, which they produced in dozens of colors. As a result of these changes, the craft women who lived in the middle of the nineteenth century began to refine the art of beading using their ample bead supplies in a rainbow of colors. Section 2 Every person who shall monopolize, or attempt to monopolize, or combine or conspire with any person or persons, to monopolize any part of the trade or commerce among the several states, or with foreign nations, shall be deemed guilty of a felony (as later amended from misdemeanor ). At that time the market was dominated by several monopolies in industries such as railroads, tobacco production, meatpacking and coal mining. The US Government determined the monopolies did not provide enough fair competition in those industries to provide protection of consumers. The Sherman Act of 1890 created the legislation to declare the existing monopolies illegal and made violation of the Act a felony, essentially deeming the existing monopolies in violation of the law. Homoeroticism In The Picture Of Dorian Gray Wilde s sexuality and effeminate nature shaped his relations to the natural beauty of the world, which in turn manifested itself in the moral implications of his now famous works. For example, his very own personal ordeals are envisaged through the passages of The Picture of Dorian Gray, and it has been passionately hypothesized that characters such as Basil, Dorian, and Lord Henry are personalities of Wilde s own flamboyant character. In an interpretation written by Donald H Ericksen, Wilde had written the following: Basil in how I see myself, Lord Henry how the world sees me and Dorian how I would like to be . The discussions surrounding The Picture of Dorian Gray were linked to the egregious homoeroticism displayed through the synergy of Wilde s characters and how they interacted with each other. In a time of irrational Victorian thinking, it comes as no surprise that Wilde s writing had evoked such a backlash. For people during the Victorian period, Wilde s male characters and the relationships in which they maintained were more than abundantly suggestive to enable thoughts of disgust in even the most tolerant of people. Other than this, primary and secondary enuresis are similar in terms of clinical presentations, as they show common pathogenesis. The factors implicated in the pathogenesis of enuresis include a disorder affecting arousal from sleep, nocturnal polyuria, and a reduced nocturnal bladder capacity. These factors will be discussed further on later. Requisites of controlled urination There are two main points that are considered important for ability of controlled voiding. Firstly, the sufficient production of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) , which reduces urine production at night. Moreover, one has to be able to wake up themselves when the bladder is full. Treatment such as the bedwetting alarms and DDAVP tablets are based on these factors, in order to cure and improve them. Father of modern science, Sir Isaac Newton was born on January 4th, 1643 in Woolsthorpe by Colsterworth, United Kingdom and died on March 31st 1727, Kensington, London, United Kingdom. He was an English physicist and mathematician who formulated three laws of motion that help explain some of the very important principles of physics. Some of Newton s laws could only be proved under certain conditions; but actual observation and trial experiments assured the validity of his work. According to Isaac Newton s laws he tells us how objects move by describing the relationship between force and motion. The First Law of Isaac Newton s laws of motion states that an object at rest will stay at rest until acted on by larger force. When the object is at rest it is called inertia. Objects in motion will stay in motion until stopped by a larger force. What this simply means is that an object will not move if an unbalanced force does not affect it. It also states that if the object begins to move, that the object will continue to move in the same direction until a larger force stops the object. Example if you were to put a dodge ball on a computer chair (roll able chair) and were to roll the chair the dodge ball and the chair would be moving in the same direction. Citizenship Of Illegal Immigrants The scorching sun shimmered against the immigrants sweat, as they passed the border between the two connecting countries, the United States of America, and New Mexico. An half empty gallon of water, accompanied by a couple of crackers, and a large bag of clothing. As they wander on the other side of the border, their life will be different than the one they have left behind; will it be wonder, or despair for these illegal immigrants? Illegal immigration is an issue which has followed the United States for centuries to come, and with illegal immigrants by its side, gradually increasing the situation. The illegal immigrants found in the United States should be granted the path to citizenship. Every day, and moment, people from all around the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the book, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, it states, The millions of those illegal immigrants currently residing in the United States are overwhelming law abiding, tax paying, and hard working. By granting them citizenship, they can do much more (The Current Controversies, 97). The undocumented immigrants have broken the law by entering the United States without a document but, the reason is because they could not wait from months to years for a reply of whether they can be a legal immigrant or not. When they work, they are hardworking, and law abiding, with no problems occurring during their work. The lives of others are not affected by their working, and when granted the path of citizenship, from their personality of being law abiding. These undocumented immigrants created less trouble for our daily lives because we are able to accomplish more jobs, produce more products, and develop more improvement in the economy, that everyday lives would be as easy as pie. Furthermore, the granting of citizenship benefits in decreasing the rate of crimes. Based on U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, it states, The vast majority want to stay in America to work and so naturally steer clear of breaking any laws. Therefore, less crimes will be in America (The Current Controversies, 96). As more undocumented immigrants enter the country of the United States, they seek for work as their new life begins. Some of these undocumented immigrants stay in front of stores such as 7/11, waiting for someone to hire them for work. The enlargement in the population of the undocumented immigrants does not cause trouble for the citizens, but rather put them in ease. They (the undocumented immigrants) are not seeking for fights, or gangs to join, rather, they want to live peacefully, and work to live a decent life in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Essay on The attack on Pearl Harbor The attack on Pearl Harbor on the morning of December 7, 1941 will forever be immortalized in the words of President Roosevelt as a date which will live in infamy , yet the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima were far more deadly and carried greater geo political implications. Many persons in the United States carried the burden of assisting in designing, deploying and eventually dropping the first and only nuclear weapons used in an act of war, yet Paul Tibbets s experience is unique. As a Lieutenant Coronel in the U.S. Army, Tibbets was tasked with the organizing, planning, staging and flying the mission to drop the bombs. Coronel Tibbetts formed the unit as a composite group, or self sufficient group, that operated under it s own authority and personnel, and was excluded from working with units other than those that were directly under Tibbets s command in order to maintain a heightened level of security and secrecy because of the nature of their mission. Major Robert A. Lewis, who was Tibbets co pilot on the Anola Gay, recalls The day we arrived Tibbets mounted a sound truck and told us that we were an extra special unit in many ways. He said first, we would be completely self sustaining, that we would have our own engineering, troop carrier, and ordnance groups even our own control tower. He ended by saying, You will not talk about this project to anyone. Don t even speculate amongst yourselves .... anyone who does not want to stay under these conditions can get a transfer right now (Tozer 71). The security restrictions around the base and the men lasted for more than 11 months; and because of the heightened level of trained and trusted men understood the need for such an information blackout, the secret was never leaked. The 509th composite group was officially activated on December 17, 1944. The 1,800 member unit was of the highest caliber of solider, Comprised of hand picked machinist, welders, ... • 45. Summary Of A Thing Like Me A Thing Like Me Carr begins chapter 10, A Thing Like Me, with Joseph Weizenbaum, a MIT PC researcher who imagined a PC program that could parse and react to language. The program was called ELIZA. ELZA could recognize speech patterns and could rephrase sentences in question form and was displayed to have the identity of a psychotherapist. When ELIZA first appeared in the 60 s, some people actually mistook her for human. A Thing Like Me is probably one of the most vital chapters in this book because it comes to the conclusion that computers are taking over our lives. Our group agrees came to the conclusion that when Carr argues point he does it so subtle that the reader may not realize that its only his opinion. His argument that people are becoming too dependent on technology is weaved through the explanation of ELIZA: a computer application program that offered a mechanic clarity, replacing language s human messiness with a clean internal computer. (202) ELIZA software was used in helping to treat mental illnesses: patients were able to talk to a machine instead of a psychotherapist. The outcome of this experiment showed that if the patient couldn t tell whether he or she was talking to a computer, the computer is just a valuable as a therapist. Carr uses this to argue and prove that people can be easily replaced by technology. To comprehend the impacts of a PC, Weizenbaum contended that one needed to see the machine with regards to our past technologies and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Influence Of Terra Nullius On Indigenous Australia s... Buchan and Heath argue that the term terra nullius was used to create a false construct of Australia and it s Aboriginal people. Terra Nullius resulted in Britain justifying illegal colonisation of Aboriginal land and denigrating Aboriginal Australians by ignoring their sovereignty despite failing to either conquer or form treaties with Aboriginal Australia people. The term terra nullius means nobody s land and was what the British colonists declared Australian territory was when they landed on the shores in 1788 (Hollinsworth 2006). Colonists saw upon arrival that Australia was inhabited by Indigenous people, however because of lack of cultivation and societal systems like Europeans had established, they concluded that the land was now owned by them and hence no treaty or conquest was required before they could lawfully reside on the land. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Self proclaimed Darwinist Lewis Morgan contended during the period of colonisation that there were three periods of civilisation; the Savage, Barbaric and the Civilised, the savage was characterised by simply existence and living off the land whereas the civilised used phonic alphabet systems, ownership of property and some sort of established state system (Morgan, 1877). Buchan and Heath (2006) argue that Indigenous Australian people could never meet these British standards of civilisation because it was built on a solidly Eurocentric template of what constitutes a State, property, and cultivation, therefore, the term savage was possible constructed to aid the description of Australia as terra nullius, rather than ... • 47. Essay On The Clarinet One of these, the chalumeau (a term also used for a double reed instrument), was known to Denner; apparently his attempts to refine the chalumeau led to his invention of the clarinet. (Adullah, M et al. 2015). Johann Christoph Denner was a German musician who is said to have created the first known clarinet. He made and improved many woodwind instruments. He also had children who helped him work. Johann Christoph Denner created the clarinet, worked interdependently to innovate ways to overcome the small note range of the chalumeau, and illuminated the world by making the chalumeau into what is now a common modern day instrument. Johann Christoph Denner created the clarinet soon after 1698 (Barrett, G. 1999). (Adullah, M et al. 2015). The clarinet is a woodwind instrument with a single reed.
