Eating Chinese Medicine Judith Farquhar Summary
This article, Eating Chinese Medicine by Judith Farquhar is a piece about traditional Chinese medicine
in the 1970s 1980s. In the opening, Farquhar introduces Zhu Ziye who sat in his room all day and was
waited on. He was brought food, tea and whatever else he desired. Zhu believed eating was an art and
that digesting it was just as important. He believes he needed to focus all of his energy into eating and
digesting. Continuing, Chinese medicine has five key flavors; pungent, sweet, sour, bitter, and salty.
Each flavor has a function regarding the role of a certain spice. Pungent had the function to spread
moving blood and nourish moisture, sweet, replenishes and supplements, sour, contracts and restricts,
bitter, drains and dries, and salty,

Would it be correct to say that in Tom Jones, Fielding...
Would it be correct to say that in Tom Jones, Fielding considers marriage to be a mere socio economic
arrangements under which women feel continuously suppressed? Discuss.
The true history of the English countryside has been centred throughout in the problems of property in
land, and in the consequent social and working relationships. By the eighteenth century, nearly half of
the cultivated land was owned by some five thousand families. As a central form of this
predominance, four hundred families, in a population of some seven or eight million people, owned
nearly a quarter of the cultivated land.
In a society stressing male dominance, it is surprising to find an author who writes his female
characters as more intelligent than and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through all these examples of marriage, Fielding is urging us to question the current institution of
marriage and what it is based on.
The plot of Tom Jones is based on the desire to link by marriage the two largest estates in
Somersetshire: the proposed marriage of Sophia Western to Blifil is conceived for this end; her
marriage to Tom Jones, when he is eventually revealed as Allworthy s true heir, achieves what had
formerly, for personal reasons, been rejected.
Throughout Tom Jones, Fielding criticizes the perversion of love by the upper class, homo social
system of property marriage.
The last part of the novel shows a convergence between hero and heroine, after their alienation in the
inn at Upton. But the property marriage plot is complicated by the sexual corruptions of London,
which threaten to capture both Tom and Sophia, though in different ways seduction for Tom, force for
Sophia.
Sophia is both threatened by her father (as before) and in need of his protection against the aristocratic
amorality of Lady Bellaston and Lord Fellamar. She gains in stature by becoming much more than just
a maiden in distress, but one who can manipulate too, in the interests of virtue.
Lord Fellamar wants sexual possession of Sophia, and also her £80,000; Lady Bellaston wants to get
rid of a rival for Tom s services. Lord Fellamar will rape Sophia, then make

An Analysis Of Johnson s Involvement In The Vietnam War
Another issue that Johnson was involved in during his presidency was the Vietnam War. This took up
most of his presidency and was the reason he did not run for the second term. The decisions he made
in this war were not entirely wrong but just ruined his reputation entirely. He was ridiculed by the
American people for the way he handled this war. However, the real question is, was he even trying to
win it? Every time we started to get ahead in the war, he would change the rules. When he first was
appointed president, he continued with the commitment that the presidents had made before him
which was that they will fight to see South Vietnam stay independent. Johnson believed in the
containment theory which stated that if South Vietnam fell

I don t think this will end well.
Ica looks disturbed. She looks upon her old Master. She never could have guessed that it could one

The Nature of Warfare
Throughout history the nature of warfare has remained the same, it is a violent clash of interests
between or among organized groups characterized by the use of military force, however, the character
of war is constantly changing. The means by which wars are fought are no longer limited to easily
identifiable conventional forces, nor do non traditional actors abide by the same set of international
standards and rules of law. The United States can no longer expect to face a purely conventional
threat. As a result, the U.S. military must be prepared to conduct both regular and irregular warfare
successfully, although irregular warfare is more challenging and poses a greater threat to U.S. strategic
objectives. All conflicts contain elements of both regular and irregular warfare and the nature of the
conflict can easily shift between them. As a result, the U.S. military must maintain the ability to be
prepared to do both successfully and one must not come at the expense of the other. The 2012 Defense
Strategic Guidance asserts the Wholesale divestment of the capability to conduct any mission would
be unwise, based on historical and projected uses of U.S. military forces and our inability to predict
the future. Traditional and non traditional warfare are not mutually exclusive and one form of warfare
should not take priority over the other, so it is critical that the U.S. military balance the capabilities
necessary to succeed across a wide spectrum of operations.

Santa Is Real Essay
Is Santa real? This is the one question that everyone asks at some point in their life. I have been asking
this for a long time. But I kept telling myself that he was real because I wanted him to be real. The
magical tale of Santa going to every house in one night and leaving you presents was one of the most
magical things and to know that was real was something magical.
But secretly, I had a small feeling that Santa was not real. Every year I would see more kids stop
believing in Santa and I felt like I was standing in a world of darkness which kept on getting darker
and darker each year. But I still was not ready to say that Santa was not real. I still wanted that little bit
of magic in my life during the last month of the year where all of my worries would disappear for a
minute and all I could see was Santa getting ready for Christmas up at the North Pole.
But I knew one day the day would come where I would be told that Santa wasn t real and I would join
everyone in the world of darkness where I could not hop into Santa s magical world and be swept
away in his sled around the world.
This day came one rainy November day when I was in 9th grade. I was in high school. My world had

season. So yes Santa is real because you are Santa, everyone is Santa. Everyone had a flower in them

Orientation Vs Religion
Overtime, sexual orientation has been viewed differently across different cultures. Your sexual
preferences should matter or define who you are as an individuals. When you think of sexual
orientation in a Christian household, you visualize a male and a female together. For some reason
same sex relationships are frowned upon. Some get disowned by their families or even get left on the
streets to survive alone. It is sickening and disgusting towards how people who are gay get treated by
these people of the Bible . I m not too into religion because it s a very difficult thing to understand and
master. People shouldn t be criticized on viewed differently due to sexual orientation. Now in the U.S,
gay marriage is legal but that doesn t change

Now that the path appeared in front of him, he was more than willing to walk down it. Pretty soon, his

Ice Hockey in Canada Essay
Ice Hockey in Canada
Ice hockey has in the last hundred years evolved to become international. Canada is in jeopardy of
losing its six teams. Tradition run deep in all of the cities and also professional hockey teams create
thousands of jobs and help out in the communities. Teams in the Canadian market are having trouble
keeping their programs in the black because of higher taxes and a weaker Canadian dollar. In order for
professional hockey teams in Canada not to relocate to United States, it is necessary for Ottawa to
provide tax cuts for them. Professional hockey has been around in Canada for over one hundred years.
Tradition runs deep in programs like the Toronto Maple Leaf s and Montreal Canadians, which have

Seemingly, everyone recognizes that in Canada, Hockey is King (c1).
These teams have made a home for themselves in their towns and if these two franchises are up rooted
from their communities they may not be gained much of an advantage even with the lower taxes
(Dryden 2).
One of the fundamental problems with Canadian hockey teams competing with their American
counterparts is that Canadian teams pay all of the player s salaries and travel are in American
currency. However, all the revenue from ticket sales, concessions and advertising is in Canadian
currency. American teams have an advantage over their Canadian counterparts because all the money
that was created from ticket sales, concessions and selling advertising is one third more than what
Canadian teams will make. This is because of a weaker Canadian dollar, 69 cents to one American
dollar, means that Canadian franchises will always make one third less from basic franchise profits as
long as the Canadian dollar stays the same. The teams are among Canada s fewest businesses that pay
most of their salaries and expenses in U.S. dollars out of revenue earned in depressed Canadian dollars
(May p 2). This is a problem because the weaker Canadian dollar makes it harder for these franchises
to run day to day operations (Duhatschek 7). The result is

Similarities Between Icartus And Doctor Faustus
Classical tragedy and Christian morality are both components of Doctor
Faustus. On the other hand, it occurs in Christianity where God is the judge of the universe, and every
single human being either goes to heaven or hell. As a matter of fact, there are angels and devils, with
the angels that advising people to stay true to God, while the devils are persuading them to sin. Thus,
the play seems to portray a message that is to avoid sin, and must repent if he or she couldn t refrain
from sin. Notably, in Christianity, seeing that a person is alive, there is a possibility to repent, and that
is acceptable. As an illustration, if someone understands and realizes his or her own mistakes, God
may forgive him or her even at the last moment.
However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The clash between good and evil arises with Faustus split morality. The Good and Bad Angels signify
the struggle concerning his support to knowledge and his desire for supremacy. It most deliberately

completion of the play, the Good Angel and the Bad Angel did not show. This nonexistence
symbolizes Faustus vow on being evil, represented over the commitment through signing a letter

Consequently, in the lines it says, Go and return an old Franciscan friar, that holy shape becomes a

is filled of indications to the disagreements throughout the sixteenth century amongst Protestant and
Catholics. That difference within the religion itself was the furthermost main crucial thing in the

The Broadway Musical Hamilton By Lin Manuel Miranda
Oftentimes people have a difficult time connecting with history. They do not see the relevance
between something hundreds of years ago and today s issues. The Broadway musical Hamilton by Lin
Manuel Miranda does a great job of bridging that gap. Many of the issues that were faced in the time
period of Alexander Hamilton are also faced in the world today. An example of this is politicians
riding the fence on important issues. A main character in the play is criticized greatly for doing this
just as people are currently. In Miranda s Hamilton, characters are faced with issues and are asked to
take a stand just as political leaders are today. Hamilton had a rough childhood and did not have many
opportunities where he came from. His family, friends, and neighbors decided that he needed to go to
the mainland to get an education. It was then that he was able to make a name for himself and he
began to climb the social and political ladders. If Hamilton would have stayed in his hometown he
would not have been able to do anything that he accomplished in his life. The world we live in today
is having to make similar decisions. With the Olympics going on currently, viewers are learning many
new facts about athletes from around the world. Andre De Grasse, for example, is originally from
Ontario Canada. He proved that he is one of the fastest men in the world when he won bronze in the
100 meter final. De Grasse has always been fast but did not have the opportunities to compete on a

Baseball Is The Same Way Of Life
Merrian Webster s definition of baseball is, a ball game played between two teams of nine on a field
with a diamond shaped circuit of four bases. In reality baseball is so much more than that. The movies
Bull Durham, The Natural, and Field of Dreams exemplify the metaphysical meaning of sport.
Baseball is a metaphor for the American way of life; it unites people. It can even bring back the dead.
The lessons learned in baseball illuminate the core tenants of American society. The metaphysical
meaning of baseball represents Americas pulse and has the ability to even bring back the dead. A
defining factor of American Life has been how you handle failure. As Rocky Balboa once said, It s not

then he bounces back on his feet and decides to become a manager. Even though he does not get to
achieve his dream of being a major leaguer he adapts and makes the most of his situation. By all
measures he fails in almost every aspect of becoming a major leaguer, but in the end he is happy and

Nowadays more than ever, people have to change their careers to pursue new found interests. Look at
Hank Nichols for example, he wanted to play baseball, but ultimately became a world renowned
basketball official. As he said when he talked to us, he did not put his head down and pout rather he
learned from his failure and used it to help him in the future. This is analogous to what Crash
ultimately decides to do.
This ability to adapt is also exemplified by Roy Hobbs. He is a small town boy who has to strike out
The Whammer on three pitches to even get a chance at the big leagues. After mounting the pressure he

Research Paper On Job Shop Scheduling
Job shop schedsuling using genetic algorithm
Abstract The job shop scheduling (JSS) can be difined as a planning of schedules with many
variations according to the requirements. In job shop scheduling problem (JSSP) environment, there
are numbers jobs to be processed on numbers of machines with a certain objective function to be
minimized or maximized. In this paper, we have used the GT GA to solve the job shop scheduling to
minimize the makespan along with the special type of crossover known as multi step crossover fusion
(MSXF). To see wheather we get good results by modifyinng the classical approach using GA, we
have compared the result with the standard benchmark instances available. Using this combinations of
the techniques, we have got results showing deviations less than 3%.
Index Terms Scheduling, Job Shop Scheduling, genetic algorithm.
Introduction:
The job shop scheduling problem is the combinatorial problem in which there can be many objective
functions. In this paper we have selected the makespan to be the objective function. The main
objective of any scheduling is to create a schedule which specifies when each task is to begin and
what resources it will use that satisfies all the constraints while taking as little overall time as possible.
The scheduling in which there is a specific order of a job to be processed by perticular machines is
called as job shop scheduling problem. This kind of scheduling and sequecing of operations deals with
the allocations of resources optimally over time so as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

John Cheever Reunion
Narrator s in stories are the characters, if they happen to be characters that influence reader s the most.
The narrator lays out all the information to us as they see it and they tell the story how they want it to
be heard. Although they are telling the story from their point of view, it is our job as readers to
interpret, that what they are telling us is fair an just. Some narrator s often won t tell the whole story,
but just what they want you to hear. In John Cheever s, Reunion the narrator, Charlie is a narrator that
cannot be trusted. He is very critical and unfair to his father and wants the reader to think that his
father is a failure, not only as a father, but as a person in general. Charlie begins to influence us early

He hasn t seen or heard from his son in three years after what seemed to be a pretty rough divorce
between him and Charlie s mother considering it has been three years without a word. Out of nowhere
comes Charlie who wants to meet with his father for an hour and a half for lunch between his trains.
An hour and a half is not a lot of time to catch up for three years of lost time. There is almost no
dialogue between the two in the whole story, except for when they first meet and when they part ways.
The only mention of the two talking in the middle of the story is when Charlie s father talks to him
about baseball. Baseball though, is probably one of the only things that the two may have in common
at this point, but the way it is put into context some people would think that Charlie s father doesn t
seem interested in him. All of this is very sudden for Charlie s father and he definitely wasn t ready for
Charlie to show up in New York. So it could be said that all things considered, all of this could be a
little overwhelming for Charlie s father and could be directly related to the way that he acted during
their meeting. A father who hasn t seen his son in three years, trying to make a good impression, who
is probably very nervous and maybe even scared of meeting his son. Charlie s silence during their
meeting doesn t help the situation either. The meeting is obviously awkward for both of them since

What About Bob Movie Analysis
What About Bob is a movie about a man who is diagnosed with numerous mental disorders. Most of
his disorders a centered around disorders that are based in anxiety and fear. First disorder noted is
Agoraphobia F40.00 as listed in the 5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders [DSM 5} (American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013). He seems to have anxiety
surrounding germs and fear of diseases and becoming ill. This disorder may fit the Illness Anxiety
Disorder (IAD) F45.21 in the DSM 5 (APA, 2013). This disorder used to fit under the disorder called
hypochondriasis. Additionally, he could have Somatic Symptom Disorder (SSD) F45.1, instead of
IAD because he mentions many physical symptoms (APA, 2013). However, I would need more
information to make an actual diagnosis. The next disorder we see is a fear of elevators which leads
me to believe he may have a fear of confined spaces. This is just one of several fears he has and it
would be diagnosed as specific phobia according to the DSM 5 and corresponds to 300.29 (APA,
2013). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My opinion is that we sometimes think it will lessen the turmoil in the future if we focus on all the
outcomes or consequences surrounding a situation, problem or decision. It is good to think about the
result of our actions but a great coping skill is to then make the choice and let it go. The what ifs can
be dealt with when or if they happen. Bob cannot function due to his fear of all the negative
possibilities that could, but probably will not, materialize. The manner in which he copes with the
unknowns in his life is to fake disorders. In his thought process, he feels if he is aware he is faking a
disorder such as Tourette s Syndrome, he is assured he does not have it. This part did make me laugh

Hoosier Burger Adrian Talavera INF 340 Business Systems Analysis Dr. Arman Kanooni November
21, 2011 Hoosier Burger In order for an organization to remain successful, it must be able to fulfill its
day to day operations without mistakes. If these demands cannot be met, a new project must be
created in order to stay in business and ahead of the competition. If an organization has a problem,
they can benefit from fixing it by following a formal process for identifying, selecting, initiating, and
planning projects (Valacich, 2009). The system development life cycle is a formal four step process
that can be followed in order to identify a problem and solve it. The first step is ... Show more content

Various documents such as a project scope statement, one time cost or recurring cost worksheet can be
created to list costs associated with the project. Other methods include the time value of money, which
refers to comparing present cash outlays to future expended returns, and a break even analysis in order
to determine economic feasibility. Operational feasibility is the process of examining the likelihood
the project will attain its desired objective (Valacich, 2009). The purpose of this goal is to understand
how the new point of sale system will work at Hoosier Burger and if it will solve their new problems
encountered by the high demand of their products. Technical feasibility refers to the organization s
ability to construct the proposed system (Valacich, 2009). Hoosier Burger needs to evaluate the
hardware, software, and operating environments that may be used to accomplish their project. They
must ensure there is adequate space within the restaurant and the employees have the capability to
operate the new equipment or software. Schedule feasibility considers the likelihood of all potential
time frames and completion dates can be met (Valacich, 2009). Hoosier Burger must set a reasonable
goal to start and finish the project. They must also ensure construction or upgrading does not interfere
with daily business operations and negatively effect sales. Seasonal changes may have an impact

Mop Top Influence
One way the Beatles changed the world of music is their hair, it was called the Mop top but they
called it Arthur . The mop top is It is a straight cut collar length at the back and over the ears at the
sides, with a straight fringe (bangs) . At first people thought it was dumb but eventually realized it was
awesome but it was still mocked by adults. The mop top was first created in the 1950 s when someone
named Jürgen Vollemer left his hair down after he went swimming, and he didn t want to comb it.
Jürgen liked this style on him so the next day he recreated it and the mop top was born (at this time it
wasn t called anything). Voller moved to Paris in 1961 and Paul McCartney and John Lennon both ran
into him and liked it, so they asked him if he could cut their hair like that. Soon enough Ringo Starr
and George Harrison had the hair cut. Because of the Beatles ... Show more content on

These suits were originated from the Mod Youth Cult (I m guessing Modern Youth Culture) in the UK.
After 1964 this style became very common for the new bands to wear. Later in the psychedic era
(hippies) in 1966 68 The Beatles started to wear bright colors and had paisley suits and pants with
floral patterns on them and the Beatles popularized Indian influenced styles like collarless shirts and
flip flops. Around the late 1960 s the Beatles started a new and more casual style, they wore t shirts,
jeans, and jean jackets. John Lennon also started up wearing plain white suits, and that suit influenced
the one of the album covers. Throughout the years the Beatles had a couple trends and styles starting
with the classic mop top and grey suits, then the bright colored paisley suits and pants with floral
patterns and funny hats, and then the jean jackets and jeans and in the later years a=they all grew

The World Of A Capitalistic Society
Living in a capitalistic society, we are constantly bombarded with the notion of buying from large
brand named corporations in order to save money. But I bring up the question, is this really helping
you and your family in the end, or the billionaires living at the top? Large corporations allow for small
businesses to essentially diminish before our very eyes. While buying from stores such as Walmart,
Target, and Home Depot, you are stripping away business production that can be done here on
American soil. As our economy is depleting itself and we extend ourselves higher into debt, the only
people we have to blame are the consumers. By buying from local produce stands and farmers
markets, we cut the cost of travel time and the resources needed to get to the store. Buying local can
also bring money into the community while the food is healthier and fresher for the family to enjoy.
As times grow tough for American families, we are constantly in search for products to fit our needs,
while also fitting the bill. What numerous consumers don t realize is that by spending a few extra
cents on vegetables or clothing made in the community, we are not only providing an income for our
people but we can become sustainable as well. Sustainability is key to becoming a prosperous nation.
By cutting our dependence off of major countries like China, this will not only bring back jobs but
also decrease the vast trade deficit we have with these global competitors. As most people are often

Professionalism Of The Business Industry
The purpose of this research is to educate or inform people, who are working or about to work in the
field of business, about professionalism in the business industry because it is extremely complex and
important. Besides from wearing proper attire or having higher education, many set standard of
procedures must be abided by to be recognized as professional (Beaton, 2010; Granowski, 2012). As
Granowski and Beaton suggests or implies, professionalism is not easy to acquire because it exists for
the purpose of satisfying the customers, who are individuals with various and unique personalities.
The goal of business is to make profit. As long as customers desire and expect professional service,
business must be able to provide that.
Professionalism validates quality of business, and thus results in desired future business endeavors. In
this regard, Beaton (2010) provides an appropriate example which illustrates doctors. He states that
doctors are expected to be safe and bring positive outcome by their patients because they hold and
exhibit their degree, wear proper uniform, maintain overall hygiene, and use educated and
sophisticated words that lead patients to completely believe that doctors will even sacrifice themselves
to help patients. No one wants to be frauded, and professionalism is like antibiotic that kills that worry
of possibly being frauded. Beaton s example undoubtedly depicts that professionalism ensures that
business is trustworthy, and ultimately, will

Fan Identity
One of the main points of discussion is the idea of the fanatic itself and how fandom is an accepted
mode of obsession in the contemporary world. Much of the discourse on the subject deals with the
complex psychology of the word through anthropological and psychoanalytical work on what it means
to be a fan the mixture of reverence for their object of affection, but also the embarrassment of being
associated with what some might deem as crazy or superficial. The definition of fan has altered over
time, with it becoming increasingly negative. Many fans even shy away from calling themselves that,
or separate their fandom identity (often found online) with their real life identity. While much has
been written in the beginning of fandom

The Meaning of Human Life
The Meaning of Life
What gives human life meaning is different for every individual. Some believe the meaning of life is
found in love, and the bonds forged throughout one s adolescence as well as adulthood. Others find
meaning in art, and the ability to create something completely new and original with one s own ideas
and talent. Others still believe life is based on religious duty, and live their every living day believing
that their ultimate salvation is formed based on the actions that are pursued in this life. I, however,
believe that the meaning of life is in acquiring wealth and prestige through hard work and having an
industrial spirit; these attributes of industriousness give me meaning, and the fruits of my labor are
observable by others.
I know that this is my personal meaning of life because everything about my personality and wants
and needs points me towards a life of great success. I do not believe love is everlasting, and am not
particularly fond of religion as the answer to my present predicament. There is happiness, however, in
knowing that I have worked hard to gain everything I could have ever wanted, and I want to feel
happy in this way. Some may think that this is a greedy way to see life, but I do not share this view,
instead I see it as doing my best to uplift everybody around me through my positive influence on the
world. My parents were very important in shaping my beliefs on hard work, as they both have worked
their entire lives and are very

Schools Should Not Conduct Random Locker Searches In Schools
On a scale basis, most people actually hate locker searches and think that schools need to terminate
them. Joseph, a friend of a student whose locker got searched said. His friend, Ryan had school locker
searches in his school. They were allowed to have their phones out during lunch, but when the security
pulled him away from his friends at lunch to have a locker search, they confiscated Ryan s iPod 4. He
never saw it again. The security said that they kept it, but it somehow got lost. Students should not
conduct random locker searches because they will lose their privacy, have misplaced focus, and the
search could lead to legal issues. I mean, how many times have people found bad in lockers in the past
12 years?

. In Pros and Cons of School Locker Searches, it states that, Misplaced Focus: searching lockers can
imply to students that they aren t trustworthy. It can ruin the school s attempt to build school
community trust and respect. In Article 3 ( Pros and Cons of School Locker Searches Synonym), it
states, School locker searches also consume valuable time for administrators, security guards, and
teacher who conduct them. Student also lose their learning time because of this issue. In addition,
Article 3 states, Because students may keep personal items in their lockers, such as photographs and
personal letters, even a search with the best intentions can appear to be a major breach of trust by
teachers and administrators, causing a rift between the student body and faculty. Some people may
argue that locker searches can keep children safe. It protects them. But how can locker searches
protect the children unless they think something s up. If the children act normal and they have a gun in
their backpack, then how does this help keep them safe if no one s suspicious of

The Learning ( Or Behaviourist ) Approach
The learning (or behaviourist) approach, at its core, is about how experience affects our behaviour and
how we learn behaviours. This approach postulates that all humans are born as blank slates and we
become shaped by the environment that the person lives in. Behaviourism is concerned with the
observable characteristics of humankind; their behaviour. This approach dismisses any internal
workings because these workings are too subjective and difficult to observe; whereas observable
behaviour can be scientifically and objectively measured, so more concrete theories can be based off
the research undertaken into behaviour. Unsurprisingly, the behaviourist approach works closely with
the experimental branch of psychology, and it also works ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process of this conditioning is associating a neutral stimulus (the bell) with a unconditioned
stimulus (the food) and unconditioned response (the salivation); this means that a stimulus in the
environment produces a behaviour that is innate, or natural no new behaviours have been learned, yet.
The neutral stimulus does not produce a response unless it is paired with the unconditioned stimulus at
the start of conditioning. During conditioning the stimulus that produces no response (i.e. neutral) is
associated with the unconditioned stimulus to the point it becomes a conditioned stimulus. Often, at
this stage, the unconditioned stimulus needs to be associated with the conditioned stimulus on many
occasions or trials for learning to take place. However, this is not always the case; if a neutral stimulus
produces sickness or ill health, then the association does not need to be strengthened over time,
because the response it produces is so violent. Now, the conditioned stimulus has been associated with
the unconditioned stimulus to the point where it can produce a conditioned response. This association
can then be generalized to other, similar objects; as was shown in the Little Albert experiment
performed by Watson, when the baby s fear of the white rat had been generalized to other similar furry
animals and

Description Of The Pituitary Gland And Its Function
Figure 4: Hypothalamic and anterior pituitary glands (right)
Description of the pituitary gland and its function
Use both the flat and 3D models to visualize the following characteristics of the pituitary and its
location
Morphology mechanisms
A tiny almond sized organ
The pituitary gland is composed of three lobes: Anterior, intermediate (smallest) and posterior (see the
figure on the right)
Anterior pituitary (AP): Hormones (up regulation and down regulation) are controlled by the
hypothalamic hormones. The AP is divided into three parts or pars: the pars tuberalis, pars intermedia
and pars distalis.
The posterior pituitary develops as an extension of the hypothalamus and its cells (known as the
magno cellular neuro secretory cells have its cell bodies in the hypothalamus and its axons projecting
into the posterior pituitary.
The anterior pituitary (adenohypophysis) arises from the oral ectoderm while the posterior pituitary
(neurohypophysis) originates from the neuro ectoderm.
The following diagram shows the location and histology of pituitary gland
Figure 5: the location of the pituitary gland (upper left) and its anatomy (upper right). The middle is a
schematic drawing of the pituitary and the lower (from left to right) are: histology of the anterior
pituitary, the pituitary histology, pars nervosa and distals and at far right is a section in the posterior

New Zealand s Legal Architecture And Constitutional...
Democracy is government of the people, by the people, for the people. Many theorists believe that
New Zealand has a weak constitutional framework and therefore a weak democratic structure.
However there are many other theorists who state that unwritten constitutions bring flexibility, and can
evolve with modern society. The accuracy of this statement can be evaluated in relation to New
Zealand s legal architecture and constitutional arrangements.
New Zealand doesn t have a single codified constitutional document, and it is therefore said to be
unwritten. Our flexible constitution can be altered by Parliament, because Parliament is supreme. New
Zealand has a Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) system of government, meaning we have a
majority of minority parties, and this has effected parliamentary sovereignty. Practically, MMP has
caused a change to the system of government, and it may not be as easy in reality to alter the
constitution, this is because consensus would be harder to achieve. Constitutionalism and the rule of
law, implies political responsibility to the people through the legislature, elected by the people. This
shows that although in theory New Zealand s democratic structure may look skeletal and fragile, in
practice there are many checks in place that can be said to prevent such weaknesses, these are
provided below.
Our constitutional documents are sourced in many pieces of legislation. The New Zealand
Constitution Act 1852 holds the origins of our

Would it be correct to say that in Tom Jones, Fielding considers marriage to be a mere socio economic arrangements under which women feel continuously suppressed? Discuss. The true history of the English countryside has been centred throughout in the problems of property in land, and in the consequent social and working relationships. By the eighteenth century, nearly half of the cultivated land was owned by some five thousand families. As a central form of this predominance, four hundred families, in a population of some seven or eight million people, owned nearly a quarter of the cultivated land. Through all these examples of marriage, Fielding is urging us to question the current institution of marriage and what it is based on. The plot of Tom Jones is based on the desire to link by marriage the two largest estates in Somersetshire: the proposed marriage of Sophia Western to Blifil is conceived for this end; her marriage to Tom Jones, when he is eventually revealed as Allworthy s true heir, achieves what had formerly, for personal reasons, been rejected. Throughout Tom Jones, Fielding criticizes the perversion of love by the upper class, homo social system of property marriage. The last part of the novel shows a convergence between hero and heroine, after their alienation in the inn at Upton. But the property marriage plot is complicated by the sexual corruptions of London, which threaten to capture both Tom and Sophia, though in different ways seduction for Tom, force for Sophia. This took up most of his presidency and was the reason he did not run for the second term. The decisions he made in this war were not entirely wrong but just ruined his reputation entirely. He was ridiculed by the American people for the way he handled this war. However, the real question is, was he even trying to win it? • 7. The Nature of Warfare Throughout history the nature of warfare has remained the same, it is a violent clash of interests between or among organized groups characterized by the use of military force, however, the character of war is constantly changing. The means by which wars are fought are no longer limited to easily identifiable conventional forces, nor do non traditional actors abide by the same set of international standards and rules of law. The United States can no longer expect to face a purely conventional threat. As a result, the U.S. military must be prepared to conduct both regular and irregular warfare successfully, although irregular warfare is more challenging and poses a greater threat to U.S. strategic objectives. All conflicts contain elements of both regular and irregular warfare and the nature of the conflict can easily shift between them. As a result, the U.S. military must maintain the ability to be prepared to do both successfully and one must not come at the expense of the other. The 2012 Defense Strategic Guidance asserts the Wholesale divestment of the capability to conduct any mission would be unwise, based on historical and projected uses of U.S. military forces and our inability to predict the future. Traditional and non traditional warfare are not mutually exclusive and one form of warfare should not take priority over the other, so it is critical that the U.S. military balance the capabilities necessary to succeed across a wide spectrum of operations. ... These teams have made a home for themselves in their towns and if these two franchises are up rooted from their communities they may not be gained much of an advantage even with the lower taxes (Dryden 2). One of the fundamental problems with Canadian hockey teams competing with their American counterparts is that Canadian teams pay all of the player s salaries and travel are in American currency. However, all the revenue from ticket sales, concessions and advertising is in Canadian currency. American teams have an advantage over their Canadian counterparts because all the money that was created from ticket sales, concessions and selling advertising is one third more than what Canadian teams will make. This is because of a weaker Canadian dollar, 69 cents to one American dollar, means that Canadian franchises will always make one third less from basic franchise profits as long as the Canadian dollar stays the same. The teams are among Canada s fewest businesses that pay most of their salaries and expenses in U.S. dollars out of revenue earned in depressed Canadian dollars (May p 2). They do not see the relevance between something hundreds of years ago and today s issues. The Broadway musical Hamilton by Lin Manuel Miranda does a great job of bridging that gap. Many of the issues that were faced in the time period of Alexander Hamilton are also faced in the world today. An example of this is politicians riding the fence on important issues. A main character in the play is criticized greatly for doing this just as people are currently. In Miranda s Hamilton, characters are faced with issues and are asked to take a stand just as political leaders are today. In job shop scheduling problem (JSSP) environment, there are numbers jobs to be processed on numbers of machines with a certain objective function to be minimized or maximized. In this paper, we have used the GT GA to solve the job shop scheduling to minimize the makespan along with the special type of crossover known as multi step crossover fusion (MSXF). To see wheather we get good results by modifyinng the classical approach using GA, we have compared the result with the standard benchmark instances available. Charlie s silence during their meeting doesn t help the situation either. The meeting is obviously awkward for both of them since neither of them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. What About Bob Movie Analysis What About Bob is a movie about a man who is diagnosed with numerous mental disorders. Most of his disorders a centered around disorders that are based in anxiety and fear. First disorder noted is Agoraphobia F40.00 as listed in the 5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders [DSM 5} (American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013). He seems to have anxiety surrounding germs and fear of diseases and becoming ill. This disorder may fit the Illness Anxiety Disorder (IAD) F45.21 in the DSM 5 (APA, 2013). This disorder used to fit under the disorder called hypochondriasis. Additionally, he could have Somatic Symptom Disorder (SSD) F45.1, instead of IAD because he mentions many physical symptoms (APA, 2013). However, I would need more information to make an actual diagnosis. The next disorder we see is a fear of elevators which leads me to believe he may have a fear of confined spaces. This is just one of several fears he has and it would be diagnosed as specific phobia according to the DSM 5 and corresponds to 300.29 (APA, 2013). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My opinion is that we sometimes think it will lessen the turmoil in the future if we focus on all the outcomes or consequences surrounding a situation, problem or decision. It is good to think about the result of our actions but a great coping skill is to then make the choice and let it go. The what ifs can be dealt with when or if they happen. Bob cannot function due to his fear of all the negative possibilities that could, but probably will not, materialize. The manner in which he copes with the unknowns in his life is to fake disorders. In his thought process, he feels if he is aware he is faking a disorder such as Tourette s Syndrome, he is assured he does not have it. This part did make me laugh out ... • 28. Mop Top Influence One way the Beatles changed the world of music is their hair, it was called the Mop top but they called it Arthur . The mop top is It is a straight cut collar length at the back and over the ears at the sides, with a straight fringe (bangs) . At first people thought it was dumb but eventually realized it was awesome but it was still mocked by adults. The mop top was first created in the 1950 s when someone named Jürgen Vollemer left his hair down after he went swimming, and he didn t want to comb it. Jürgen liked this style on him so the next day he recreated it and the mop top was born (at this time it wasn t called anything). Voller moved to Paris in 1961 and Paul McCartney and John Lennon both ran into him and liked it, so they asked him if he could cut their hair like that. • 29. The World Of A Capitalistic Society Living in a capitalistic society, we are constantly bombarded with the notion of buying from large brand named corporations in order to save money. But I bring up the question, is this really helping you and your family in the end, or the billionaires living at the top? Large corporations allow for small businesses to essentially diminish before our very eyes. While buying from stores such as Walmart, Target, and Home Depot, you are stripping away business production that can be done here on American soil. As our economy is depleting itself and we extend ourselves higher into debt, the only people we have to blame are the consumers. By buying from local produce stands and farmers markets, we cut the cost of travel time and the resources needed to get to the store. Buying local can also bring money into the community while the food is healthier and fresher for the family to enjoy. As times grow tough for American families, we are constantly in search for products to fit our needs, while also fitting the bill. What numerous consumers don t realize is that by spending a few extra cents on vegetables or clothing made in the community, we are not only providing an income for our people but we can become sustainable as well. Sustainability is key to becoming a prosperous nation. By cutting our dependence off of major countries like China, this will not only bring back jobs but also decrease the vast trade deficit we have with these global competitors. • 30. Professionalism Of The Business Industry The purpose of this research is to educate or inform people, who are working or about to work in the field of business, about professionalism in the business industry because it is extremely complex and important. Besides from wearing proper attire or having higher education, many set standard of procedures must be abided by to be recognized as professional (Beaton, 2010; Granowski, 2012). As Granowski and Beaton suggests or implies, professionalism is not easy to acquire because it exists for the purpose of satisfying the customers, who are individuals with various and unique personalities. The goal of business is to make profit. As long as customers desire and expect professional service, business must be able to provide that. Professionalism validates quality of business, and thus results in desired future business endeavors. In this regard, Beaton (2010) provides an appropriate example which illustrates doctors. He states that doctors are expected to be safe and bring positive outcome by their patients because they hold and exhibit their degree, wear proper uniform, maintain overall hygiene, and use educated and sophisticated words that lead patients to completely believe that doctors will even sacrifice themselves to help patients. No one wants to be frauded, and professionalism is like antibiotic that kills that worry of possibly being frauded. Much of the discourse on the subject deals with the complex psychology of the word through anthropological and psychoanalytical work on what it means to be a fan the mixture of reverence for their object of affection, but also the embarrassment of being associated with what some might deem as crazy or superficial. • 32. The Meaning of Human Life The Meaning of Life What gives human life meaning is different for every individual. Some believe the meaning of life is found in love, and the bonds forged throughout one s adolescence as well as adulthood. Others find meaning in art, and the ability to create something completely new and original with one s own ideas and talent. Others still believe life is based on religious duty, and live their every living day believing that their ultimate salvation is formed based on the actions that are pursued in this life. I, however, believe that the meaning of life is in acquiring wealth and prestige through hard work and having an industrial spirit; these attributes of industriousness give me meaning, and the fruits of my labor are observable by others. I know that this is my personal meaning of life because everything about my personality and wants and needs points me towards a life of great success. I do not believe love is everlasting, and am not particularly fond of religion as the answer to my present predicament. There is happiness, however, in knowing that I have worked hard to gain everything I could have ever wanted, and I want to feel happy in this way. Some may think that this is a greedy way to see life, but I do not share this view, instead I see it as doing my best to uplift everybody around me through my positive influence on the world. • 34. The Learning ( Or Behaviourist ) Approach The learning (or behaviourist) approach, at its core, is about how experience affects our behaviour and how we learn behaviours. This approach postulates that all humans are born as blank slates and we become shaped by the environment that the person lives in. Behaviourism is concerned with the observable characteristics of humankind; their behaviour. This approach dismisses any internal workings because these workings are too subjective and difficult to observe; whereas observable behaviour can be scientifically and objectively measured, so more concrete theories can be based off the research undertaken into behaviour. Unsurprisingly, the behaviourist approach works closely with the experimental branch of psychology, and it also works ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The process of this conditioning is associating a neutral stimulus (the bell) with a unconditioned stimulus (the food) and unconditioned response (the salivation); this means that a stimulus in the environment produces a behaviour that is innate, or natural no new behaviours have been learned, yet. The neutral stimulus does not produce a response unless it is paired with the unconditioned stimulus at the start of conditioning. During conditioning the stimulus that produces no response (i.e. neutral) is associated with the unconditioned stimulus to the point it becomes a conditioned stimulus. Often, at this stage, the unconditioned stimulus needs to be associated with the conditioned stimulus on many occasions or trials for learning to take place. However, this is not always the case; if a neutral stimulus produces sickness or ill health, then the association does not need to be strengthened over time, because the response it produces is so violent. Now, the conditioned stimulus has been associated with the unconditioned stimulus to the point where it can produce a conditioned response. This association can then be generalized to other, similar objects; as was shown in the Little Albert experiment performed by Watson, when the baby s fear of the white rat had been generalized to other similar furry animals and ... • 36. New Zealand s Legal Architecture And Constitutional... Democracy is government of the people, by the people, for the people. Many theorists believe that New Zealand has a weak constitutional framework and therefore a weak democratic structure. However there are many other theorists who state that unwritten constitutions bring flexibility, and can evolve with modern society. The accuracy of this statement can be evaluated in relation to New Zealand s legal architecture and constitutional arrangements. New Zealand doesn t have a single codified constitutional document, and it is therefore said to be unwritten. Our flexible constitution can be altered by Parliament, because Parliament is supreme. New Zealand has a Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) system of government, meaning we have a majority of minority parties, and this has effected parliamentary sovereignty. Practically, MMP has caused a change to the system of government, and it may not be as easy in reality to alter the constitution, this is because consensus would be harder to achieve. Constitutionalism and the rule of law, implies political responsibility to the people through the legislature, elected by the people. This shows that although in theory New Zealand s democratic structure may look skeletal and fragile, in practice there are many checks in place that can be said to prevent such weaknesses, these are provided below. Our constitutional documents are sourced in many pieces of legislation. The New Zealand Constitution Act 1852 holds the origins of our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
