Death Of An Hour By Kate Chopin
Death is a natural part of life, and, therefore, a common theme in many literary works. Kate
Chopin, the author of The Story of an Hour, explores the theme of death by unfolding the story of
a woman whose husband dies in a tragic accident. While the wife initially weeps with grief, her
emotions soon transform into feelings of secret delight over her new found freedom. In his story
The Monkey s Paw, W. W. Jacobs
addresses the theme of death in a much darker manner. A holy
man has placed a curse on a decaying monkey s paw. The White family, who gains possession of
this paw, has been granted three wishes, the first of which seemingly ends in the death of the son
Herbert, devastating his mother and father. While the characters in The Story of an Hour and The
Monkey s Paw cope with the deaths of their loved ones in very different ways, both Chopin and
Jacobs explore the theme of death through imagery and symbolism. In her work The Story of an
Hour, Chopin uses both imagery and symbolism to examine the effects of a spouse s death on the
loved one left behind. When Louise Mallard is faced with the untimely death of her husband
Brently Mallard, she sobs uncontrollably with sudden, wild abandonment, in her sister s arms
(par. 3). These emotion filled sounds of weeping are evidence of the widow s fierce grief. The
imagery continues as Chopin compares Louise s response to a violent storm, a storm of grief, (par.
3) to encourage the reader to visualize the heart

German Stereotypes In WWII Films
German Stereotypes carried on by WWII films Cold, Nazi, heavy accent. Those are some of the
common stereotypes of German in typical everyday life. These stereotypes are not the truth about
Germans and Germany as all other stereotypes aren t the truth or the only truth. The strangest thing
about the typical German stereotypesis that all of the common ones can be traced to WWI, WWII
or are revivals of actions of those times through war films or stories. The definition of a stereotype
from Google is: a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of
person or thing (Definition). This definition makes it very simple for us to see how stereotypes can
come about and also how they can effect someone. If you have... Show more content on

This is also due with most movies in that they often play along with a trope or stereotype to try a
compact or make a character more relatable or identifiable. War films since they became pretty
popular in world war times, due to the necessary need to get people in support the war and
supports the troops so most use the common stereotypes and I would also argue made them more
popular. When you have a formula you can follow in a script which will lead to your audience
being able to easily identify the bad guy, it makes it easier for a film to be successful. So for
example in the Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark film you have the typical German
stereotype with the Nazi team searching for the Ark of the Covenant to make Hitler s army
invincible. That idea of cold heartless team of people only working towards helping Hitler and
the war is something that many people of the time wouldn t have a hard time identifying as bad.
Raiders of the Lost Ark doesn t quite fit in the war film genre but still has the same use of
stereotypes to create the big evil for the

Wolfchase Galleria
Everyone loves shopping whether it s looking for a new dress or a gadget. Shopping can be
done in numerous places, but I think the most common place would be the mall, I personally
love going to the mall its relaxing to me. The Wolfchase Galleria is one of my favorites, it s
located in Cordova on Germantown Pkwy near Bartlett. This mall is always busy just on a
normal day not just on the holidays. Wolfchase has over a hundred stores, food court, and movie
theatre, along with a new addition the Cheese Cake Factory restaurant. With so many things
going on inside the mall your day will never be boring. The Wolfchase Galleria is a big social
site for everyone with many events happing. It was on a Friday when I decide to go to the mall
to look around and to observe what s going on. First, I drove down highway 64 to get to the mall.
As I approach the left turning lane, I notice the traffic. I got to the mall lot and the traffic was

Potassium Chloride And The Molecules Through Semipermeable...
Potassium Iodide Binds to Polysaccharide Molecules through Semipermeable Membrane
Introduction:
Diffusion is defined at the net movement of molecular substances from an area of high
concentration to an area of low concentration. Beyond that, diffusion can further be divided into
two different kinds of net movement of substance to opposing concentration gradients, dialysis and
osmosis. Dialysis is defined as the separation of small molecules from large molecules as they pass
through a semipermeable membrane (Koerner, 1992).
When talking about dialysis, it is most often associated with the function or failure of the kidneys
ability to process and rid the body of toxins from the blood. It would prove to be fatal if the
kidneys failed to remove the roughly 1,500 liters of waste building up in the body (Nordqvist,
2015). This experiment mimics the nature of a selective plasma membrane and with time, monitors
to passing of substances in and out of the barrier. The end results should appear to show a color
changing chemical reaction within the more concentrated tube of 15%glucose/1%starch solution.
Initially the clear and milky appearance should transform into a black and deep purple hue from the
attachment of iodine to the sugar solution. The experiment has been conducted previously yielding
various results. External factors affecting the rate of diffusion play a part in this experiment. Heat
due to its influence on the thermodynamics of the molecular substances. Increasing

The Generalization Of Sex Workers In The Bachelorette, By...
This can be epitomized by the movie The Bachelorette by Leslye Headland, where a sex worker
is shown to ask a client for 300 dollars for a one finger touch of her stomach and is okay with
being paid in cocaine rather than money. Sex workers, such as the stripper that was presented in
The Bachelorette, are portrayed as workers who only seek to trick men out of more money or
drugs, and as women who deserve the hard life of prostitutionconsequently for their deviant
lifestyle choices. This portrayal negatively generalizes sex workers as workers whose primary
objective is to scheme in order to have an influx of and an abundance of cash, when in fact many
work for less than minimum wage and are working to stay above the poverty line. As Neon
Wasteland by Susan Dewey notes many of the workers that started operating in sex work do so
after failing to find jobs that can provide them the same amount of income and relative flexibility
that sex work provides (Preface). The negative portrayal of sex workers in movies can also be seen
in the film Magic Mike by Steven Soderbergh, where the main character strips only as a way to
pursue his pastime, and is surrounded by the party lifestyle. This scene contributes to the
negative generalization of sex work and portrayal of sex workers as stripping solely for the purpose
of an influx of cash as well as a clear dependence on drugs and on the party lifestyle is inaccurate
for the majority of sex workers and negatively impacts sex workers

Modem Profession
An occupation does not become a profession merely because its members decide it will be one.
Modem professions share much in common with classical professions. The Hallmarks that have
come to characterize a profession are based on a midevel models: a guild, high level of education,
public recognition, and a specialized body of knowledge.
Emanating from the existential needs of society and the professions are established and maintained
by the mutual interactions of society and professions, both collectively and individually. Therefore,
professional ethics can be seen as the explicit understanding of the relationship between the
profession and society. The making of the model, the covenant is one of the oldest and most

George Wilson s Death In The Great Gatsby
The summer is coming to an end in the fictitious story, The Great Gatsby, and so is James Gatsby.

Seeking answers, I soon grew frustrated with the lack of gender and race based studies for Black
girls in urban school settings. We were trapped in the juncture of race and gender where studies on
Black youth focus primarily on issues encountered by Black boys and the studies on girls gives
attention to the challenges faced by White girls. Because of the absence of information on Black

Comparing Mulatto And A Raisin In The Sun
When looking at the origins of African American Dramas specifically in Mulatto, Native Son, A
Raisin in the Sun, Funnyhouse of a Negro, Great Goodness of Life, and Dutchman, the emotions of
all these characters created the sense that everyone in this time were still searching for their
identity. Each character in the plays had to overcome difficulties relating to their skin color, thus
causing either confusion or confidence in their search for what defines them as their self. It created
internal conflicts and they often blamed society for specific expectations and stereotypes. How the
characters decided to express their feelings in emotions demonstrates a sense of realism and how
they viewed themselves. In each play, we are able to see how the characters deal with the searching
of their identity through various emotions and internal conflicts through their life choices. In the
first play Mulatto by Langston Hughes, the African American character, Robert,... Show more

such as equal opportunities monitoring, equal pay audits, recruitment planning, assessing skills
balance, minimum wage, working time directive and health and safety.
2) Organisations also keep information records on training and performance for employees, this

Another benefit is that it allows the office to operate in a smaller environment, because a great
deal of space is not required for storing documents in a paper filing system.
Two Essential Items of UK Legislation relating to Recording and Storing HR Data
1) Data Protection Act 1998
The Data Protection Act 1998 applies to all personnel records, whether held in paper or
computerised format. Under the Data Protection Act, data must not be kept longer than is necessary
unless it s for a particular purpose.
Computerised systems are covered by the law, as are certain manual systems. To be covered,
manual systems must be organised into a relevant filing system .
Subject to certain exceptions as detailed in Schedule 7 of the Data Protection Act, employees have
the right to access their records and the employer is under an obligation to ensure that the data is
accurate. Before releasing such data to a third party, the employer must seek the permission of the
individual concerned.
The Information Commissioner has issued an Employment Practices Data Protection Code in four
parts:
Part 1: Recruitment and selection
Part 2: Employment records
Part 3: Monitoring at work

How Does Hana Greenfield Use Personal Experiences In...
In general, history books recite facts and figures to create censored generalizations about
historical events, including the Holocaust. Dramatizations of these tragedies tend to use detailed
accounts of those effected by the catastrophe to create a somewhat accurate storyline, which often
elicits some form of an emotional response from the viewers/readers. These accounts add an
extra level of detail to a once nameless, faceless fact or figure. It allows the reader/viewer to
visualize what was occurring at the time. They start to think what they would do, how they would
feel or react if they were in that particular situation and that is when the emotions start to form
inside the reader/viewer. Dramas allow the readers/viewers to connect more with the material and
hopefully find meaning that they could not find simply skimming pages of a book. In Fragments of
Memory, Hana Greenfield uses personal experiences... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

cannot leave because they can never escape the memories of living in such atrocious conditions has

of new historicism are Stephen Greenblatt and Hayden White. Stephen Greenblatt attached
importance to research the self shaping of renaissance. He regarded literature as the history of
reshaping human s heart. He tended to create cultural poetics of historical context. Hayden White

Language And Development Of Language, Experience,...
Language plays a significant role in the process of transmitting knowledge and culture among
mankind. Everyone learns a language at the early stages of life. From birth to seven years, a
tremendous development of language skills is seen in a child. The essay states the various
developmental phases of phonetics, morphology, semantics and syntax in a child. The behaviourist
and cognitive theories states that nature and nurture plays a vital role in this process. The essay also
throws light on the importance of culture, experience, maturation and readiness with the aid of
theories laid by Lev Vygotsky and Jean Piaget.

From this stage a child even begins to grasp the
meaning of short phrases such as #39;give me #39;, do not touch #39; and the like. In the next
phase of language
development, the child articulates words. The child picks up simple words from its surroundings
and that which may be taught him. He associates the words with its meaning (Kuhl et al., 2016).
The development of semantic skills take place here. In the later phase, sentence formation begins. In
the beginning, grammar and the conventional way of sentence structure is lacked. From here
commences the syntactic development in an individual. Through experiences and expressions, the
child unknowingly adapts to the accepted grammar and conventional sentence construction rules of
its language ((Bloom, 1993). By the age of four a child speaks and understands his language clearly.
A child is inspired by surroundings to develop its language skills. He or she imitates and reacts to
the sounds around them. B. F. Skinner, one of the pioneers of behaviourism, emphasizes the role of
environment in language development (Sommerville, 2006). He argues that a child learns words by
associating it with meanings. The word #39;cat #39; brings the idea of that particular animal in the
child #39;s
mind. Children imitate words and sentences used by parents and elders. According to him, children
learn language on the basis of reinforcement principles. Adults surrounding them, especially parents

Leopold is described as a highly skilled scholar, but is a social recluse due to his hormonal
abnormalities. Loeb, on the other hand, is handsome and societal. Nevertheless, he possesses a
sinister side, his love for the life of crime. The film revolves around four main characters, Brandon
Shaw, Phillip Morgan, Rupert Cadell, and the victim, David Kentley. Brandon and Phillip pertain
to New York s elite class and are intelligent, sophisticated men. Rupert, being a philosopher of
sorts, instills the idea of Friedrich Nietzsche s Гјbermensch upon Brandon and Phillip. Thus, this
drives them to kill their former classmate, David. While Hitchcock explains the philosophical

They believed that this leader the Messiah (?anointed one?) would rescue them from their Roman
oppressors and establish a new kingdom. As their king, he would rule the world with justice.
However, many Jews overlooked prophecies that also spoke of this king as a suffering servant
who would be rejected and killed. It is no wonder, then, that few recognized Jesus as the Messiah.
?How could this humble carpenter?s son from Nazareth be their king,? they thought. But Jesus
was the King of all the earth, and it was Matthew (Levi) who took it upon himself (but not alone)
to spread the word. Matthew used about 1475 words, 137 of which are words used by him alone
of all the New Testament writers. Of these latter 76 are classical; 15 were introduced for the first
time by Matthew, or at least he was the first writer in whom they were discovered; 8 words were
employed for the first time by Matthew and Mark, and 15 others by Matthew and another New
Testament writer. It is probable that, at the time of the Evangelist, all these words were in current
use. Matthew s Gospel contains many peculiar expressions that help to give decided colour to his

when a medical professional, such as a doctor or a nurse, or a medical institution, such as a
hospital, injures a patient during the course of a treatment. Furthermore, for this injury to be able to
be considered medical malpractice, the doctor s actions must represent a breach, or violation, of
the standard of care. A standard of care is defined as the generally accepted practices and
procedures that all medical professionals in the area would administer for a patient sufferingfrom a
particular ailment. This standard of care varies depending on a number of factors, including the
patient s general health as well as his or her age. According to the Ohio court of claims On June
28, 2006 Ms. Cynthia Adae was taken to the Clinton Memorial hospital with symptoms of
shoulder pain with limited range of motion of her right upper extremity, a nonproductive cough
and fever. After being evaluated in the emergency room Ms. Adae was admitted to the hospital
under the care of Dr. Pesante and Dr. Bain according to Clinton Memorial Hospital records. A CT

Sonnet 130 And Hyperbole
In this interpretation, I will be analyzing poetry written by Shakespeare including poetic terms
and a socio historical examination of the text. For this analysis, I will be discussing Sonnet 130
and the poem All the World s a Stage. These poems by Shakespeare are both well known and
very representative of his literary style and his use of contrasting literary devices to paint a vivid
picture for the audience. Shakespeare is a unique and very deft user of language to tell stories
that are understandable to not only audiences from his time but our own as well. In the poem
All the World s a Stage, Shakespeare uses several poetic techniques to bring out existential
questions in the reader s mind. These techniques include smile, imagery and hyperbole. In this
poem, Shakespeare argues that the world is but a stage and men are the actors. This cynical
view of the world is explained through hyperbolic language and scenes throughout a
representative life of a man, as told by Shakespeare. Hyperbole is used when describing the life
of the man in the story and the various actions and behaviors of this man in general. These
exaggerated physical descriptions and behaviors effectively use the exaggerative qualities of
hyperbole to evoke emotions of introspection and despair. I believe that Shakespeare used
hyperbole in this way to cause the reader to reflect on their own life and to be more cognizant of
their place in the grand scheme of things. This poetic device was likely used due to the period
that this poem was written in. During this time, most people were focused on surviving and
making sure they had enough to eat; rather than having the time to think about more existential
and ethereal matters, such as, is this the life that I want to be living. This likely has to do with
the lack of middle class opportunities for the average person during this time. This hyperbolic
language is seen in line 9 And shining...like snail. Line 12 Sighing like...woeful ballad. In these
two lines Shakespeare describes a young schoolboy that is disgusted with going to school. In the
second line, he describes a husband mentally exhausted and sighing in a obvious and exaggerated
manner likely passive aggressively. By describing the

Spirited Away Analysis
In Hayao Miyazaki s breathtaking film, Spirited Away we are introduced to 10 year old Chihiro
and her parents who stumble upon a seemingly abandoned amusement park. After her mother and
father turn into giant pigs, Chihiro meets the mysterious Haku, who explains the park is a resort
for the supernatural beings who need a break from the earthly realm, and that she must work there
to free herself and her parents. Our young protagonist is shown to be a childish, easily scared, and
whiny girl. But after her experiences at the bathhouse and the Spirit World, she will mature into a
capable adult. Chihiro s growth into a capable individual is a core factor to the movement of
Spirited Aways plot.
Spirited Away begins with a quick paced car ride in which we meet the young protagonist, Chihiro.
A melancholy child whom ironically holds a bouquet of bright flowers to her chest, which we learn
was a farewell gift from her friend on Chihiro s moving day. Chihiro and her parents stumble upon a
ominous tunnel as they search for their new home. The tunnel lures Chihiro s parents inside,
causing the young child to quickly rush and cling to her mother in fear of being alone, like any
child would. Upon entering the Spirit World, they stumble upon a festive amusement park that has
seemingly just been abandoned. During this scene Chihiro s parents morph into gluttonous pigs,
consumed by their own greed and hunger upon eating offerings that were meant for the spirits.
Young Chihiro now left

It s 1997, Tony Blair just got elected as the new Prime Minister of the UK, working for Queen
Elizabeth II s Constitution. Blair wanted to provide the most radical modernization of the
Constitution in over three hundred years: he wanted to breathe new life into the old institutions.
His leadership and social ism was a breath of fresh air to the UK. On 31 August 1997, the Queen
s son controversial ex wife Diana (Princess of Wales) dies in a car crash in Paris, France, together
with her current partner Dodi Fayed and their driver Henri Paul. After her divorce with Prince
Charles (Prince of Wales) in 1996 she got engaged several times, to different men. She was
declared a loose cannon or a rebel : her and Prince Charles got divorced, she dressed exactly the
way she wanted, she gave birth to her children in a hospital, while royal customs declare a child
should be born in the palace. Also, at this time, the world had little knowledge of AIDS. While
some people guarded themselves from people with this disease, Princess Diana went out and
shook hands with AIDS patients in Africa and she enrolled her children in a public school,
while it was custom for the Royal Family to home school the royal children. She was also well
known for her fund raising work for international charities. Because of all this, she was referred
to as the People s Princess : people felt they were close to her, and could relate to her. She was a

Attitudes Between Men And Women
In the election held in 2013, only two WC made it to the parliament, although women made up
more than 53% of the electorate. These two candidates received the highest number of tweets about
the WC before the election.
RQ1: Attitudes according to gender
While the negative tweets outnumbered the positive ones (31% negative versus 21% positive), the
women tweeters expressed significantly more positive attitudes towards WC than the men tweeters
did (X2 = .21, p = 0.01). Women contributed 385 tweets (38% positive, 36% neutral, and 26%
negative), while men contributed 797 tweets (20% positive, 38% neutral, and 42% negative). The
remainder of the relevant tweets were generated by news sites.

The second dominant theme, however, did represent an objective, candidate based acceptance, in
which a tweeter was favorable towards a candidate because of her personal traits and political
skills. The most prevalent subtheme under this theme was the moral traits of the WC, such as being
modest, patriotic, and/or religious. Other tweeters favored WC because of their knowledge and
sagacity. Women tweeters were more interested in showing a positive attitude toward a candidate
because of her looks.
The third positive theme spoke to the political skills of WC as they were evidenced in a previous
parliamentary term or as they were expected to show up after they win election. Satisfaction with
past political performance was a major subtheme of this positive theme. Praise of the
communication skills of these candidates represents another major subtheme. Tweeters, especially
women, placed a special emphasis on the communication skills of the candidates, praising them
for their eloquence, sophistication as speakers, and cogent logic while talking to the media. They
described the speaking style of one WC as making the liver of the listener cooler (a Kuwaiti
colloquial expression connoting a good mood and a positive reaction).

The Executive Branch of the United States Government Essay
The executive branch of the Unites States government consists of the President, Vice President,
Executive Office of the President (EOP), and the Cabinet (Citation). The President is the highest
official of the Executive branch. The powers of the President are wide ranging and highly
substantial but were also drafted in the constitution to be limited by the other two branches of
government. The remaining branches of government are the Legislative branch and the Judicial
branch. There functions of all the branches are interrelated and the restraints on the amount of
power each reserves are also coordinated. This correlation involves the system of checks and

Constitution and reads, He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to
make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by
and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers
and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court(http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters

foreign nations however, two thirds of Congress must be in agreement with the decision. Although
the President, or the Executive Branch can be interpreted as the most authoritative arm of
government, its powers are still limited and restricted by the process of checks and balances. Each
branch of government has some governance over the other two divisions. For instance, just as it is
outlined above, the President can nominate Ambassadors and Judges of the Supreme Court but the
decision must be upheld by Congress. In other words, under the Advice and Consent clause the
appointed member must be sworn in by the Senate. Again, this is an example of how the system of
checks and balances limits the powers of the President. Naturally, the

Virginia V. Texas, The Supreme Court Upheld The...
In Fisher v Texas, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of special admissions programs;
but this could only be done under strict judicial scrutiny, and with narrowly tailored provisions. Two
separate questions stem from this: What does narrowly tailoring mean in light of the 14th
Amendment? And how can other universities implement admission standards that are
constitutionally permissible? Short Answer Grutter and Gratz established that race could be a
factor in the admissions process. But it must pass strict scrutiny. At first blush, this might appear
discriminatory. But if there is a compelling government interest, then it is not covered by the Equal
Protection Clause, in the Fourteenth Amendment. So to pass strict scrutiny... Show more content on

This is because schools have a rational reason for excluding certain individuals. It cannot accept
every student, so schools must have the ability to sift through applicants. For example, test scores,
GPA, extracurricular activities, and the like, can be used when considering an applicants file. In
short, this in no way perverts or violates the Equal Protection Clause; schools have a reasonable
interest in denying certain applicants because they cannot admit every student that applies.
Discussion of Cases: How the Court Applied Strict Scrutiny When a University implements special
admissions requirements, like race and ethnicity, the Court called for the most exacting judicial
scrutiny when reviewing cases of this nature (Bakke v U.S.). For this, the rational basis test is
faulty. Strict scrutiny is prescribed to examine race cases. The Court visited this topic in two
separate cases: Grutter v Bollinger and Gratz v Bollinger. Grutter examined admissions
requirements for Michigan Law School, and Gratz examined Michigan undergraduate requirements.
Once again, emphasis was placed on applying strict scrutiny when race plays a factor in admissions.
The court also established the need for narrowly tailored provisions when implementing such
programs. In Grutter, the court re emphasized the fact that cultivating a diverse student body was a
compelling state interest. And according to Chief Justice Rehnquist, student body diversity is a
compelling state

Analysis Of The Video Game Console Market Essay
Five Forces Analysis
Threat of New Entry When it comes to entering the video game console market there are a lot of
costs that are incurred. This limits the amount of competition that is coming in from an outside
source. Microsoft spent over 100 million dollars on research and development alone for the Xbox
one controller (Ron, 2013). This is a huge cost that new companies usually cannot absorb when
first starting out. There is also a huge cost difference from new producers and long standing
producers due to experience and the economies of scale that the top companies have. The last factor
that really deters companies from entering the console game is the fierce brand loyalty that inhabits
the video game market. Most consumers once they pick a side stick to it, this can span as far
back as childhood. On release the PlayStation 4 had better specs then the Xbox One, and yet 42%
of previous Xbox owners choose the Xbox One over the PlayStation 4 (Sakraida, 2014).
Competition
In the gaming industry competition comes from every direction. The most commonly thought of
outside sources of competition are the PC industry and mobile gaming industry. The television
movie and television industry are also competing to fill the entertainment void in people s lives.
That being said the competition we will be looking at is between the top two producers of gaming
consoles, Sony and Microsoft. Sony and Microsoft with their PlayStation and Xbox consoles
respectively have very

External Stakeholders Of Tesco PLC And RSPCA
External Stakeholders of Tesco PLC and RSPCA External stakeholders are stakeholders who are
not as involved within Tesco PLC and RSPCA as much as the internal stakeholders but are
involved in some way. Suppliers of Tesco PLC The suppliers of Tesco PLC are interested in the
level of customers. As the suppliers will be able to sell more stock such as food to cover the
number of customers at Tesco PLC. Therefore, there will be more awareness for the supplier so
more work can come to the suppliers. Meaning that the supplier will earn more revenue from
being more well known due to supplying stock to a business as big as Tesco PLC. The suppliers
would also be interested in maintaining relationships with Tesco PLC and to have the best
interest deal. And finally, to be paid on time so then the suppliers will trust Tesco PLC on future
orders. A supplier at Tesco PLC may have conflicts with other suppliers over sales. For example,
other suppliers may sell similar stock such as food for similar prices. This is a conflict because
the suppliers at Tesco PLC can lose out on orders which will mean less revenue for the suppliers.
Another conflict may be with the managers on incorrect orders or deliveries. For example, being
delivered the wrong sort of stock. This is a conflict because the suppliers providing a different
stock will mean that Tesco PLC will have to return them and wait for the correct stock. Meaning
Tesco PLC will miss out on profit and more sales. Also, if the incorrect

The premises in the argument describes the different effects that are occurring because of operating

Where there are problems, they are often with the way the Australian federal system operates, rather
than with federalism itself. Rather than criticising our federal system, we should be working to
make better use of its advantages
in order to improve our prosperity. In particular, the reform of
the allocation of powers and responsibilities between the Commonwealth and the States, and reform
of fiscal federalism, are desperately needed. (Twomey and Withers, 2007)
Twomey and Withers argue the approach of strategic pragmatism as outlined in Wanna s paper. The
basis of their position is that the federalism structure is unlikely to be subject to major redesign and
the discussion should focus on improving current operation.

Discussing philosophy of science is essential since it might encourage human to be more creative
and innovative. It can give spirit for human to develop science and also moral value which lies in
the knowledge.
The Nature of Social Science
We may start to ask the question about definition of social science. Many definitions of social
science are available. Before we move to the definition of social science we need to understand
the concept of social. According to Oxford English Dictionary (OED) online, states that social is
relating to the society or it relates to organization. Social is recognized as relating to the human
being life in a community and. As a social creature, every individual may have different attitude,
character, and ways of life, perception and behaviour. We cannot state that the behaviour of
certain person is right and the others are wrong. For example, Greeting to older person that we
meet is the fact that can be said is true since if not it would be social problem where the society
believe that the good young men are respect and greet to elder if they meet.
Social science, defined as a study about human behaviour in groups and how is their interaction to
society (OED). Social science consists of the discipline and systematic study of society and its
institutions includes economics, psychology, anthropology, sociology, and political science. This

animals. The eggs of an Atlantic salmon are taken and are genetically engineered, which is when a

animals have genes that are switched out with others, taken out completely, or a new geneis added

An Advanced Business Degree Essay

Staphylococcus Research Paper
Staphylococcus epidermidis is a gram positive bacterium meaning that it is a bacterium that takes
up the crystal violet strain when used in the gram strain test. When this tests is being undertaken
the bacterium turns a purple colour when looking through a microscope. This is due to the thick
peptidoglycan layer in the cell wall, as it retains the strain after being washed in the decolorization
stage. However due the thicker peptidoglycan layer staphylococcusis more receptive of antiseptics
due to the absence of an outer membrane.
Escherichia coli (E.coli) is a gram negative bacterium meaning that it is bacteria that does not retain
crystal violet after the decolorization step. However alcohol used in this stage degrades the outer
membrane making the cell wall more porous and incapable of retaining the crystal violet strain.
Compared to staphylococcus epidermidis their peptidoglycan layer is much thinner and is
surrounded between an inner cell membrane and a bacterial outer membrane. It is a facultative
anaerobe, which is an organism that makes ATP by aerobic respiration if oxygen is present.
However it is capable of switching to anaerobic respiration is oxygen is not present. E.coli is a rod

Fusion And Hybrid Electric Vehicle
Three model years passed by and I finally got behind the wheel again of a Ford Fusion. Just like
the last time, this model was the Fusion Energi, a plug in hybrid electric vehicle based on Ford s
popular midsize car. Now in its fifth model year, the 2017 Fusion Energi is a close match to the
standard hybrid model as well as to the gasoline version. Besides the electric charging port
located just ahead of the driver s door, the other differences have to do with badging you ll find
Fusion Energi markups on the exterior as well as inside the sedan. And that s a good thing too the
Fusion is already an attractive model and no styling differentiation is warranted. Some
manufacturers opt for silly looking grilles or other embellishments to distinguish gas and hybrid
models. On the other hand, it seems Ford decided that a near uniform look for all Fusion models is
entirely sufficient. 2017 Ford Fusion Energi Platinum The 2017 version welcomes a third trim

What Is Francesca s Role In The Divine Comedy
Jason Liu amp; Peter Lin
English 11
Ms. Wan
Sep 28 2014 Francesca da Rimini in The Divine Comedy In order to better understand Francesca s
role in The Divine Comedy, it is necessary to first understand her backstory and how Dante is able
to identify her. In many ways those who are personally identified by Dante in the Inferno are there
for specific reasons. Each fallen character plays the role of shedding light on a specific human
emotion or vice that acts as a pitfall. Francesca s pitfall was lust, and thus she is condemned to be
blown around for all eternity in the gusts of the second circle of the Inferno. This symbolizes how
the passions in life blew the condemned whichever way they went, no matter the ... Show more

An interesting thought that Francesca uses is when she talks about Lancelot in a kind of
comparison to her own situation. Time and again our eyes were brought together by the book
we read; our faces and paled. To the moment of one line alone we yielded (132). Francesca s use
of flushed and paled allows Dante to fully embrace the immerse passion that the lovers felt. It
was not simply that they wanted each other in a mental kind of way. They actually physically
craved each other, which is painted by Francesca when speaks of the physical attributes.
Francesca then describes her lover as trembling, which she once again is a physical reaction.
Almost everything that Francesca describes to Dante is all in an inevitable physical reaction,
rather than her subjective thoughts or intention. The two lovers could be likened to magnets,
literally being pulled into on another. Although Francesca does not directly dwell on her demise,
she does mention that her killer will be at an even deeper part in Hell, which seemingly means
that she is still vengeful about the ordeal. Even in Hell, where her situation will never be changed,
she cannot let go of world she used to live in. This is further emphasized in her ability to never let go

Nicole Arbour s Definition Of Satire
Fat Shaming and more: Nicole Arbour s definition of satire Satire is a word so called comedians
often jump to so they don t seem like they aren t just outright insulting people. In this case,
Nicole Arbour has used the word satire to cover up her extreme fat shaming calling it comedy in
a tweet about YouTube taking down both her video and channel. In the video, Arbour talks about
how fat shaming is not a thing, explaining the fat people made it up. She admits that there is a
race card, disability and even a gay card, believing that having been discriminated against, POC,
disabled, and gay people can simply just use a card in certain situations. Although she says that gay
people are wrongfully discriminated against, she also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She frequently compares being fat to being unhealthy, believing that skinny people cannot be
unhealthy and fat people cannot be healthy which is clearly a fact based on false judgement. She
thinks fat shaming is f***ing brilliant, and that we should shame people with bad habits until
they f***ing stop, even though there has been many studies with proof that weight
discrimination makes people gain weight. She says that people that post under hastags such as
#BodyPositive need to exercise more and eat healthier, without any prior knowledge that they
don t already. Listing three common medical problems Heart disease, knee problems and
diabetes she explains that these are for the plus size. She lists coke and fries as something fat
people need when in reality, some people are overweight because the cheaper food is the food
that is unhealthier. A burger and chips could cost $2, but a salad could cost $5, and often, that $3
saved is needed for living in expensive countries like

Textual Analysis Of The Crucible
Textual Analysis The Crucible The text which I have chosen to analyse is from the play The
Crucible by Arthur Miller, just looking at Act One of this play. In Act One the scene opens in
Reverend Parris s house, in the year of 1692; the scene focuses on Betty being ill in bed and
laying limp , showing the powerful forces, they believe to be witchcraft has overcome her. This
extract highlights the importance of the themes that are throughout the play and the ideas of
townspeople s lives in Salem, in which the characters portray. This play is set in a theocratic
society, where the church and the state are one, and where the religion is strict and shapes their
beliefs. Within this Act the narrator describes Salem town as having a strict Puritan way of life
with an outlook on the rest of the world as one of parochial snobbery . One of the most important
themes to look at in The Crucible is hysteria. The hysteria is tearing the Salem community apart, it
creates people s fear of their neighbours and they believe that friends and even family are
committing unbelievable crimes of witchcraft and communicating with the devil. To highlight the
theme of hysteria we can see how Tituba is [terrified] and [falls to her knees]; in which she is full
of hysteria when questioned by Hale by breaking down and confesses to being a witch, though
earlier denying practicing witchcraft. Hysteria rises as everyone begins to blame each other, and
with Abigail shouting accusations at Tituba that

Key Themes In The Film Kramer V. Kramer
The movie Kramer v. Kramer is about a man named Billy Kramer, who is left with his son for 18
months. After those 18 months Kramer devolves a bond with his son that he didn t have in the
past years. After those 18 months Kramer s wife comes to take the child back by filing for
custody. There are a few key themes from the movie Kramer v Kramer. One of the main themes
is the theme about men being able to take care of children just as good as a female. This movie
helped change America s perspective on the male parent. Another theme of the movie is that the
male should appreciate his wife and all of her house duties. At this time in America men were
more focused on their careers than they were focused on their wives. This led to depression and
other mental illnesses on women at the time. The movie Kramer v Kramer starts with Bill Kramer
coming home to find out that his wife is leaving him. Kramer s wife leaves him because he is too
focused on his work and not paying enough attention to his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He is sending a message to viewers about gender roles, stereotypes, and men s lack of involvement
with children, men lack of sensitivity to their wife s feeling and he is also sending a message to
the judicial system. This film is not neutral because it focuses on the perspective of the male and
really doesn t follow the female s story. If you are a man watching this movie you feel empathy
for Kramer at the end when he is about to lose his child. Women may feel differently because
they can relate to the perspective of a female more than a male. The film maker had an agenda to
bring this legal issue to the movie screen to hopefully change opinions on the issue. The issue at
the time was that men didn t have a fair chance at winning custody in a legal dispute. Years after
this movie the judicial system realized that the current system wasn t fair and made laws to
eliminate the female

Controversy Between William Shakespeare s Plays And Plays
William Shakespeare has been marred by controversy of whether or not he actually wrote his
plays and poems. William was born on April 23, 1564, in Stratford Upon Avon, United Kingdom.
Although he is a famous author and playwright, his early history is actually a cloudy mystery.
William Shakespeare didn t write his plays and poems because his entire familyhad a lack of
education, there isn t any other documents, such as letters or journals, and he never left Avon or
London and all of his plays were staged in Italy.
The majority of the residents in Avon couldn t read or write. All of William s family, and most
likely him, weren t an exception. He had minimal education, going to grammar school, only because
it was free. The grammar school ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other top tier writers would have journals or letters. Especially if he was in London, he more
than likely would ve written to write letters back to his wife and children. He didn t have any
other written documents or signatures besides birth records. If he wrote the plays, then he
would ve had more signatures and documents that he wrote. Many may suggest that Shakespeare
actually did write his poems and plays. But, all of the plays were staged in Italy. He never left
Avon besides to go to London. The setting of Italy was very accurate. He would ve had to go
there, which he didn t. And you couldn t go to Google and look up pictures of Italy, or just text
someone and have them send you pictures and videos. It is a major controversy about if William
actually wrote his plays or not. Some believe Francis Bacon could ve done it. Most historians
believe Avon was too poor to produce a writer of such a high caliber. It is also a possibility that
Sir Walter Raleigh wrote them and said that Shakespeare wrote them. William didn t or couldn t
write his plays because, his entire family had a lack of education, there isn t any other documents,
such as letters or journals, and he never left Avon or London and all of his plays were staged in

Interest Groups In Elections
Interest groups have a lot of influence over decision that the government makes and has made.
These groups, when formed right, are highly organized and have a definite agenda they are
trying to push that is important to them. Interest groups will lobby in congress as well as other
levels of government to get new laws and regulations passed. In recent elections on the
congressional level as well as for President we see the growing influences of interest groups in the
form of PAC s and Super PAC s to back candidates. Super PAC s can spend an unrestricted amount
money to support a certain problems or candidate but cannot donate directly to the campaigns. PAC
s work with campaigns directly reallocating donations to candidates and parties.... Show more

One is putting money towards the campaigns of Congressmen and women that either support their
shared ideals. This is not the buying of votes though as it is seen to the public eye that would be a
waste of funds to go about trying to pass policy that way. Hall and Waymen argue that interest
groups and PAC money that is used to back certain candidate in election is not to buy votes but to
mobilize the legislative process. Simply put, interest group resources are intended to accomplish
something different from, and more than, influencing elections or buying votes...we argue that PAC
money should be allocated in order to mobilize legislative support and demobilization opposition,
particularly at the most important point in the legislative process. That is only one way that they
influence congress. Public support is another. If an interest group can gather enough public support
behind their issues they can effect change in government policy. For example the NAACP in its
fight for civil rights. Interest groups work with the government to push policy. Without the
government some interest groups would exist because of the government grants that they receive.
Other groups can be led by an organization, single person or by

A Short Note On Diabetic Retinopathy ( Dr ) Is The...
Abstract Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is the deterioration of human eye as a result of increase in the
blood glucose level. Longer the patient has DR, higher the chance to develop purblind. The robust
detection of lesions in digital colour fundus images is an important step in the development of
automated screening system for diabetic retinopathy. In this work a novel method is introduced for
automatic detection of red lesions in the fundus image. A new set of shape features extracted from
the detected red lesion called the dynamic shape features that differentiate between the lesions and
vessel segments. The detected lesion candidates are classified using dynamic shape features based
on the medical values. The simulation analysis indicates that the proposed work is better than the
previous works in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, precision and specificity.
Keywords: Diabetic retinopathy, Fundus, Lesions, Dynamic shape features, Retina
Introduction
Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) affects the diabetic patients. Generally diabetics are of three types
Type I, II and III. The Type I diabetic is due to the genetic predisposition, Type II diabetic which
usually affects the adults. This is owing to over weight of children beyond their age limit and
Type III is seen only in pregnant women. The patients with Type I diabetics will only suffer from
DR which influence the retina. This leads the way to damage of retina and finally blindness.
DR is caused by red lesion which is composed of

  • 2. Death Of An Hour By Kate Chopin Death is a natural part of life, and, therefore, a common theme in many literary works. Kate Chopin, the author of The Story of an Hour, explores the theme of death by unfolding the story of a woman whose husband dies in a tragic accident. While the wife initially weeps with grief, her emotions soon transform into feelings of secret delight over her new found freedom. In his story The Monkey s Paw, W. W. Jacobs addresses the theme of death in a much darker manner. A holy man has placed a curse on a decaying monkey s paw. The White family, who gains possession of this paw, has been granted three wishes, the first of which seemingly ends in the death of the son Herbert, devastating his mother and father. While the characters in The Story of an Hour and The Monkey s Paw cope with the deaths of their loved ones in very different ways, both Chopin and Jacobs explore the theme of death through imagery and symbolism. In her work The Story of an Hour, Chopin uses both imagery and symbolism to examine the effects of a spouse s death on the loved one left behind. When Louise Mallard is faced with the untimely death of her husband Brently Mallard, she sobs uncontrollably with sudden, wild abandonment, in her sister s arms (par. 3). These emotion filled sounds of weeping are evidence of the widow s fierce grief. The imagery continues as Chopin compares Louise s response to a violent storm, a storm of grief, (par. 3) to encourage the reader to visualize the heart ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That idea of cold heartless team of people only working towards helping Hitler and the war is something that many people of the time wouldn t have a hard time identifying as bad. Potassium Iodide Binds to Polysaccharide Molecules through Semipermeable Membrane Introduction: Diffusion is defined at the net movement of molecular substances from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. Beyond that, diffusion can further be divided into two different kinds of net movement of substance to opposing concentration gradients, dialysis and osmosis. Dialysis is defined as the separation of small molecules from large molecules as they pass through a semipermeable membrane (Koerner, 1992). When talking about dialysis, it is most often associated with the function or failure of the kidneys ability to process and rid the body of toxins from the blood. It would prove to be fatal if the kidneys failed to remove the roughly 1,500 liters of waste building up in the body (Nordqvist, 2015). This experiment mimics the nature of a selective plasma membrane and with time, monitors to passing of substances in and out of the barrier. • 7. The Generalization Of Sex Workers In The Bachelorette, By... This can be epitomized by the movie The Bachelorette by Leslye Headland, where a sex worker is shown to ask a client for 300 dollars for a one finger touch of her stomach and is okay with being paid in cocaine rather than money. Sex workers, such as the stripper that was presented in The Bachelorette, are portrayed as workers who only seek to trick men out of more money or drugs, and as women who deserve the hard life of prostitutionconsequently for their deviant lifestyle choices. This portrayal negatively generalizes sex workers as workers whose primary objective is to scheme in order to have an influx of and an abundance of cash, when in fact many work for less than minimum wage and are working to stay above the poverty line. As Neon Wasteland by Susan Dewey notes many of the workers that started operating in sex work do so after failing to find jobs that can provide them the same amount of income and relative flexibility that sex work provides (Preface). The negative portrayal of sex workers in movies can also be seen in the film Magic Mike by Steven Soderbergh, where the main character strips only as a way to pursue his pastime, and is surrounded by the party lifestyle. This scene contributes to the negative generalization of sex work and portrayal of sex workers as stripping solely for the purpose of an influx of cash as well as a clear dependence on drugs and on the party lifestyle is inaccurate for the majority of sex workers and negatively impacts sex workers ... These accounts add an extra level of detail to a once nameless, faceless fact or figure. It allows the reader/viewer to visualize what was occurring at the time. • 24. Sonnet 130 And Hyperbole In this interpretation, I will be analyzing poetry written by Shakespeare including poetic terms and a socio historical examination of the text. For this analysis, I will be discussing Sonnet 130 and the poem All the World s a Stage. These poems by Shakespeare are both well known and very representative of his literary style and his use of contrasting literary devices to paint a vivid picture for the audience. Shakespeare is a unique and very deft user of language to tell stories that are understandable to not only audiences from his time but our own as well. In the poem All the World s a Stage, Shakespeare uses several poetic techniques to bring out existential questions in the reader s mind. These techniques include smile, imagery and hyperbole. In this poem, Shakespeare argues that the world is but a stage and men are the actors. This cynical view of the world is explained through hyperbolic language and scenes throughout a representative life of a man, as told by Shakespeare. Hyperbole is used when describing the life of the man in the story and the various actions and behaviors of this man in general. These exaggerated physical descriptions and behaviors effectively use the exaggerative qualities of hyperbole to evoke emotions of introspection and despair. I believe that Shakespeare used hyperbole in this way to cause the reader to reflect on their own life and to be more cognizant of their place in the grand scheme of things. This poetic device was likely used due to the period that this poem was written in. During this time, most people were focused on surviving and making sure they had enough to eat; rather than having the time to think about more existential and ethereal matters, such as, is this the life that I want to be living. This likely has to do with the lack of middle class opportunities for the average person during this time. This hyperbolic language is seen in line 9 And shining...like snail. • 25. Spirited Away Analysis In Hayao Miyazaki s breathtaking film, Spirited Away we are introduced to 10 year old Chihiro and her parents who stumble upon a seemingly abandoned amusement park. After her mother and father turn into giant pigs, Chihiro meets the mysterious Haku, who explains the park is a resort for the supernatural beings who need a break from the earthly realm, and that she must work there to free herself and her parents. Our young protagonist is shown to be a childish, easily scared, and whiny girl. But after her experiences at the bathhouse and the Spirit World, she will mature into a capable adult. Chihiro s growth into a capable individual is a core factor to the movement of Spirited Aways plot. Spirited Away begins with a quick paced car ride in which we meet the young protagonist, Chihiro. A melancholy child whom ironically holds a bouquet of bright flowers to her chest, which we learn was a farewell gift from her friend on Chihiro s moving day. During this scene Chihiro s parents morph into gluttonous pigs, consumed by their own greed and hunger upon eating offerings that were meant for the spirits. Young Chihiro now left ... His leadership and social ism was a breath of fresh air to the UK. Also, at this time, the world had little knowledge of AIDS. While some people guarded themselves from people with this disease, Princess Diana went out and shook hands with AIDS patients in Africa and she enrolled her children in a public school, while it was custom for the Royal Family to home school the royal children. She was also well known for her fund raising work for international charities. For instance, just as it is outlined above, the President can nominate Ambassadors and Judges of the Supreme Court but the decision must be upheld by Congress. • 29. Virginia V. Texas, The Supreme Court Upheld The... In Fisher v Texas, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of special admissions programs; but this could only be done under strict judicial scrutiny, and with narrowly tailored provisions. Two separate questions stem from this: What does narrowly tailoring mean in light of the 14th Amendment? And how can other universities implement admission standards that are constitutionally permissible? Short Answer Grutter and Gratz established that race could be a factor in the admissions process. But it must pass strict scrutiny. At first blush, this might appear discriminatory. But if there is a compelling government interest, then it is not covered by the Equal Protection Clause, in the Fourteenth Amendment. So to pass strict scrutiny... It cannot accept every student, so schools must have the ability to sift through applicants. For example, test scores, GPA, extracurricular activities, and the like, can be used when considering an applicants file. In short, this in no way perverts or violates the Equal Protection Clause; schools have a reasonable interest in denying certain applicants because they cannot admit every student that applies. Discussion of Cases: How the Court Applied Strict Scrutiny When a University implements special admissions requirements, like race and ethnicity, the Court called for the most exacting judicial scrutiny when reviewing cases of this nature (Bakke v U.S.). For this, the rational basis test is faulty. Strict scrutiny is prescribed to examine race cases. The Court visited this topic in two separate cases: Grutter v Bollinger and Gratz v Bollinger. Grutter examined admissions requirements for Michigan Law School, and Gratz examined Michigan undergraduate requirements. Once again, emphasis was placed on applying strict scrutiny when race plays a factor in admissions. • 31. Analysis Of The Video Game Console Market Essay Five Forces Analysis Threat of New Entry When it comes to entering the video game console market there are a lot of costs that are incurred. This limits the amount of competition that is coming in from an outside source. Microsoft spent over 100 million dollars on research and development alone for the Xbox one controller (Ron, 2013). This is a huge cost that new companies usually cannot absorb when first starting out. There is also a huge cost difference from new producers and long standing producers due to experience and the economies of scale that the top companies have. The last factor that really deters companies from entering the console game is the fierce brand loyalty that inhabits the video game market. Most consumers once they pick a side stick to it, this can span as far back as childhood. On release the PlayStation 4 had better specs then the Xbox One, and yet 42% of previous Xbox owners choose the Xbox One over the PlayStation 4 (Sakraida, 2014). Competition In the gaming industry competition comes from every direction. The most commonly thought of outside sources of competition are the PC industry and mobile gaming industry. The television movie and television industry are also competing to fill the entertainment void in people s lives. As the suppliers will be able to sell more stock such as food to cover the number of customers at Tesco PLC. Therefore, there will be more awareness for the supplier so more work can come to the suppliers. Meaning that the supplier will earn more revenue from being more well known due to supplying stock to a business as big as Tesco PLC. The suppliers would also be interested in maintaining relationships with Tesco PLC and to have the best interest deal. And finally, to be paid on time so then the suppliers will trust Tesco PLC on future orders. A supplier at Tesco PLC may have conflicts with other suppliers over sales. For example, other suppliers may sell similar stock such as food for similar prices. This is a conflict because the suppliers at Tesco PLC can lose out on orders which will mean less revenue for the suppliers. Another conflict may be with the managers on incorrect orders or deliveries. For example, being delivered the wrong sort of stock. This is a conflict because the suppliers providing a different stock will mean that Tesco PLC will have to return them and wait for the correct stock. When this tests is being undertaken the bacterium turns a purple colour when looking through a microscope. This is due to the thick peptidoglycan layer in the cell wall, as it retains the strain after being washed in the decolorization stage. However due the thicker peptidoglycan layer staphylococcusis more receptive of antiseptics due to the absence of an outer membrane. Escherichia coli (E.coli) is a gram negative bacterium meaning that it is bacteria that does not retain crystal violet after the decolorization step. Nicole Arbour s Definition Of Satire Fat Shaming and more: Nicole Arbour s definition of satire Satire is a word so called comedians often jump to so they don t seem like they aren t just outright insulting people. In this case, Nicole Arbour has used the word satire to cover up her extreme fat shaming calling it comedy in a tweet about YouTube taking down both her video and channel. In the video, Arbour talks about how fat shaming is not a thing, explaining the fat people made it up. She admits that there is a race card, disability and even a gay card, believing that having been discriminated against, POC, disabled, and gay people can simply just use a card in certain situations. Although she says that gay people are wrongfully discriminated against, she also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She frequently compares being fat to being unhealthy, believing that skinny people cannot be unhealthy and fat people cannot be healthy which is clearly a fact based on false judgement. She thinks fat shaming is f***ing brilliant, and that we should shame people with bad habits until they f***ing stop, even though there has been many studies with proof that weight discrimination makes people gain weight. She says that people that post under hastags such as #BodyPositive need to exercise more and eat healthier, without any prior knowledge that they don t already. Listing three common medical problems Heart disease, knee problems and diabetes she explains that these are for the plus size. She lists coke and fries as something fat people need when in reality, some people are overweight because the cheaper food is the food that is unhealthier. • 46. Textual Analysis Of The Crucible Textual Analysis The Crucible The text which I have chosen to analyse is from the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller, just looking at Act One of this play. In Act One the scene opens in Reverend Parris s house, in the year of 1692; the scene focuses on Betty being ill in bed and laying limp , showing the powerful forces, they believe to be witchcraft has overcome her. This extract highlights the importance of the themes that are throughout the play and the ideas of townspeople s lives in Salem, in which the characters portray. This play is set in a theocratic society, where the church and the state are one, and where the religion is strict and shapes their beliefs. Within this Act the narrator describes Salem town as having a strict Puritan way of life with an outlook on the rest of the world as one of parochial snobbery . One of the most important themes to look at in The Crucible is hysteria. The hysteria is tearing the Salem community apart, it creates people s fear of their neighbours and they believe that friends and even family are committing unbelievable crimes of witchcraft and communicating with the devil. To highlight the theme of hysteria we can see how Tituba is [terrified] and [falls to her knees]; in which she is full of hysteria when questioned by Hale by breaking down and confesses to being a witch, though earlier denying practicing witchcraft. Hysteria rises as everyone begins to blame each other, and with Abigail shouting accusations at Tituba that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Key Themes In The Film Kramer V. Kramer The movie Kramer v. Kramer is about a man named Billy Kramer, who is left with his son for 18 months. After those 18 months Kramer devolves a bond with his son that he didn t have in the past years. After those 18 months Kramer s wife comes to take the child back by filing for custody. There are a few key themes from the movie Kramer v Kramer. One of the main themes is the theme about men being able to take care of children just as good as a female. This movie helped change America s perspective on the male parent. Another theme of the movie is that the male should appreciate his wife and all of her house duties. At this time in America men were more focused on their careers than they were focused on their wives. This led to depression and other mental illnesses on women at the time. The movie Kramer v Kramer starts with Bill Kramer coming home to find out that his wife is leaving him. Kramer s wife leaves him because he is too focused on his work and not paying enough attention to his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is sending a message to viewers about gender roles, stereotypes, and men s lack of involvement with children, men lack of sensitivity to their wife s feeling and he is also sending a message to the judicial system. This film is not neutral because it focuses on the perspective of the male and really doesn t follow the female s story. If you are a man watching this movie you feel empathy for Kramer at the end when he is about to lose his child. Women may feel differently because they can relate to the perspective of a female more than a male. The film maker had an agenda to bring this legal issue to the movie screen to hopefully change opinions on the issue. The issue at the time was that men didn t have a fair chance at winning custody in a legal dispute. Years after this movie the judicial system realized that the current system wasn t fair and made laws to eliminate the female ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Controversy Between William Shakespeare s Plays And Plays William Shakespeare has been marred by controversy of whether or not he actually wrote his plays and poems. William was born on April 23, 1564, in Stratford Upon Avon, United Kingdom. Although he is a famous author and playwright, his early history is actually a cloudy mystery. William Shakespeare didn t write his plays and poems because his entire familyhad a lack of education, there isn t any other documents, such as letters or journals, and he never left Avon or London and all of his plays were staged in Italy. The majority of the residents in Avon couldn t read or write. All of William s family, and most likely him, weren t an exception. He had minimal education, going to grammar school, only because it was free. The grammar school ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other top tier writers would have journals or letters. Especially if he was in London, he more than likely would ve written to write letters back to his wife and children. He didn t have any other written documents or signatures besides birth records. If he wrote the plays, then he would ve had more signatures and documents that he wrote. Many may suggest that Shakespeare actually did write his poems and plays. But, all of the plays were staged in Italy. He never left Avon besides to go to London. The setting of Italy was very accurate. He would ve had to go there, which he didn t. And you couldn t go to Google and look up pictures of Italy, or just text someone and have them send you pictures and videos. It is a major controversy about if William actually wrote his plays or not. Some believe Francis Bacon could ve done it. Most historians believe Avon was too poor to produce a writer of such a high caliber. It is also a possibility that Sir Walter Raleigh wrote them and said that Shakespeare wrote them. • 49. Interest Groups In Elections Interest groups have a lot of influence over decision that the government makes and has made. These groups, when formed right, are highly organized and have a definite agenda they are trying to push that is important to them. Interest groups will lobby in congress as well as other levels of government to get new laws and regulations passed. In recent elections on the congressional level as well as for President we see the growing influences of interest groups in the form of PAC s and Super PAC s to back candidates. Super PAC s can spend an unrestricted amount money to support a certain problems or candidate but cannot donate directly to the campaigns. PAC s work with campaigns directly reallocating donations to candidates and parties.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One is putting money towards the campaigns of Congressmen and women that either support their shared ideals. This is not the buying of votes though as it is seen to the public eye that would be a waste of funds to go about trying to pass policy that way. Hall and Waymen argue that interest groups and PAC money that is used to back certain candidate in election is not to buy votes but to mobilize the legislative process. Simply put, interest group resources are intended to accomplish something different from, and more than, influencing elections or buying votes...we argue that PAC money should be allocated in order to mobilize legislative support and demobilization opposition, particularly at the most important point in the legislative process. That is only one way that they influence congress. Public support is another. If an interest group can gather enough public support behind their issues they can effect change in government policy. For example the NAACP in its fight for civil rights. Interest groups work with the government to push policy. Without the government some interest groups would exist because of the government grants that they receive. Other groups can be led by an organization, single person or by ... • 50. A Short Note On Diabetic Retinopathy ( Dr ) Is The... Abstract Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is the deterioration of human eye as a result of increase in the blood glucose level. Longer the patient has DR, higher the chance to develop purblind. The robust detection of lesions in digital colour fundus images is an important step in the development of automated screening system for diabetic retinopathy. In this work a novel method is introduced for automatic detection of red lesions in the fundus image. A new set of shape features extracted from the detected red lesion called the dynamic shape features that differentiate between the lesions and vessel segments. The detected lesion candidates are classified using dynamic shape features based on the medical values. The simulation analysis indicates that the proposed work is better than the previous works in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, precision and specificity. Keywords: Diabetic retinopathy, Fundus, Lesions, Dynamic shape features, Retina Introduction Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) affects the diabetic patients. Generally diabetics are of three types Type I, II and III. The Type I diabetic is due to the genetic predisposition, Type II diabetic which usually affects the adults. This is owing to over weight of children beyond their age limit and Type III is seen only in pregnant women. The patients with Type I diabetics will only suffer from DR which influence the retina. This leads the way to damage of retina and finally blindness. DR is caused by red lesion which is composed of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
