Understanding And Importance Of Following Orders
The purpose of this counselled essay is to explain my understanding and importance of following
orders. This essay will have several sections to explain different areas where following orders effects. .
I will cover the significance of following orders within the unit, prominence of following order within
the artillery world, results of failure to follow orders, and how following orders will help me in the
future. The importance of these procedures created by my superiors are apparent in a soldier s daily
life. Following Orders within the Unit To start this essay off I want to begin with the oath I took at the
beginning of my career. Considering this oath would be a revolving point in my paper I need to have it
as a basis. I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United
States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;
and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers
appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. To follow
orders within the unit promotes morale, Esprit de corps, the completion of tasks and details that
promote the benefit of the unit as a whole, and transition of communication in the unit. When orders
are not being followed, it creates a doubt within the mind of not only the Noncommissioned Officer,
but the other core leaders of the soldier. The soldier himself or

Roswell Incident Research Paper
The Roswell Incident This world we live in can be a mystery, and because of that there are people out
their dedicating their lives to solving the unknown. So when the Roswell incident accured there was a
massive rush down south to figure out exactly what happened and where this Unidentified Flying
Object (UFO) came from. When this event got public the local townspeople got out that the entire
thing was from another planet entirely. After the government stated that the material was from a
weather balloon, some people thought it was a cover up for what it actually was. I d like to make three
brief points on why I think the Roswell incident and this discovery of UFOs is fake. First off, I d like
to say how people originally thought of the UFOs as Extra Terrestrial beings. Although I guess people
looked over the fact that the material that the UFO contained a human made material. The people of
Roswell turned this into a big story with a major assumption that the material came from space, but I
don t think they have much evidence for that. With all these people coming up with random ideas as to
what may have landed in that farmers field in 1947, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My three topics ran through my ideas that I came up with such as how the Weather Balloon could ve
been a hoax but how it also wasn t. How the material the Object was made of was human made and
not something the government couldn t identify, and how the current time period was during an active
war where anything could ve happened. With this I d like to say that I believe that the Roswell
incident was fake and completely over exaggerated and how people thought it was cool to go out and
pretend to see UFOs was kind of dumb. I know for sure that they were either planes or other man
made machines that people like to make things out of. I learned from this story to never trust things

The bulk of the trade is still controlled very well by one party. Consolidation abbreviated Although
many companies have flirted with the idea of consolidation, few major companies of top 7 10
performers have made any meaningful headway towards consolidation via mergers. Maritime culture
is heavily steeped in neoclassical model of economics, and the utilitarian ultra capitalist teachings of
Ayn Rand and Milton Friedman. Basically it has become a null point for powerful companies to work
towards consolidation since they have natural business advantages already fixed in place. APM
Maersk When interpreting the figures it is key to remember that the top carrier of goods is APM
Maersk, holding 15 16% of the market. Lack of regulation and corporate governance has been
elemental to creating a managerial culture that is not in accordance with cost share, product
differentiation, or business regulation/taxation. Proposed solutions abbreviated In order to create a
culture that will be more open to consolidation, small companies who have more stake to gain than
lose should form mergers in order to prove the validity of mergers. Introduction The shipping industry

Machiavellian Policies Of Joseph Stalin
Joseph Stalin was born in Gori, a city in Georgia. He rose to power in 1929 when he became the
dictator of Soviet Union which was led by Vladimir Lenin s death in 1924. In many of his actions
Joseph Stalin clearly demonstrates the use of Machiavellian laws, which were made by Niccolo
Machiavelli, an Italian renaissance writer, humanist, diplomat, historian and Politician. These political
philosophies are found in the book The prince published in 1532 about how a prince should behave.
The extent to which Stalin follows Machiavellian political philosophies can be analyzed according to
his policies on Punishing hard, fast and all at once as well as A prince should have no other aim or

Joseph Stalin took part in many conflicts throughout his time as dictator. Some examples are the
Chinese Soviet conflict which started in 1929, then the Xinjiang war which took place during 1937.
World war two from 1939 1945 where the Soviet Union was betrayed by the Germans, causing them
to act against them. Some other examples are; the invasion of Poland and Bessarabia which took place
during WWII in 1939 which led to the Soviet Union and the Nazi Germans dividing the east of
Europe. Lastly The Cold war lasting 44 years from 1947 1991 where the Soviet union spent more the
8 trillion dollars on nuclear bombs, weapons and military. When it comes to spending on weapons
instead of luxuries Joseph Stalin stuck to this as 44% of money gained was used for the military, 3.3%
of the population worked for the military and 4.4% of citizens died during war. This demonstrated that
Stalin reflected the Machiavellian philosophy of A prince should have no other aim or thought than
war and it methods and practices prince who spend more on luxuries than weapons have often lost

Memorable Moment
That night was a game I will always remember. It brings me great joy and gives me deep pride. It is
one of the greatest feelings I have ever experienced in my life. It was and still is a moment that I look
back on and reminisce. I used to work for a private company at Tinian Dynasty Hotel Casino as a
Casino Dealer, and that memorable moment happened when I played basketball with my casino team.
I have played basketball tournaments in high school and in government leagues, however, none of
them compares when I played in Tinian Dynasty s Inter Department Basketball Tournament. It was a
popular event that happens every year between different departments of the company, and I was just in
time to join the tournament. My teammates and I did advance to the ... Show more content on

There was about 00.04 seconds left in the game, and the other team still had to inbound the ball back
into the court for their chance to score. A player from the other team, still dazed and confused, did not
know what to do and tried to pass the ball to his teammate, but miraculously, one of my teammates,
Elmo, was able to intercept the ball and lay it up for a quick basket. As I watch the ball drop to the
bottom of the net, that is when I heard the sound of the horn go off. The final seconds of the game has
ended, and our team and fans went jumping up and down, yelling and screaming in celebration and
joy. It was then we were declared the victors. The final score of the game was 106 105. It was an
unbelievable basketball game I ever played. The feeling was like playing in the NBA. Everyone else
as well who witnessed the night of our comeback victory were amazed. All I could ever think of now
was just how I reacted without even thinking about what to do during those last eleven seconds. Just
never giving up was my mentality. Time was short, but felt long and fast. I was placed in a time zone

Ways Hartley and Frayn present Childhood in The...
In the Go Between, Hartley presents the world of children and childhood through the first person
narrative (from the viewpoints of the young and old Leo), Leo s vivid imagination, the themes of
growing up and self awareness, the conflict between the child and adult world, and the portrayal of
Leo as a school boy. Firstly, the writer portrays the world of children through the first person narrative
which encapsulates young Leo s fresh, spontaneous optimism and hope towards the dawning of a new
era, My dreams for the twentieth century, and for myself, were coming true (Chapter 1. p. 28).
Therefore, this device allows the reader direct access to the intensity yet simplicity of a child s point of
view and enhances Leo s personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
p. 82). Therefore, the adult narrator s ability to comment and reflect on his child self effectively
emphasizes the naïve and vulnerable nature of youth, and contributes to the mood of foreboding and
suspense throughout the novel, now I was over confident. I expected things to go my way (Chapter 1.
p. 28). In addition, the two voices in the narrative illustrate the contrasting perceptions of childhood
and maturity as we can see that the younger Leo simply believes if he went away...the relationship
between Ted and Marian would cease (Chapter 16. p. 182), whereas the elder Leo is able to analyse
his feelings, I thought I knew what was best for myself...I was shaken and frightened (Chapter 16. p.
183). Consequently, the first person narrative in the past tense effectively conveys a sense of the adult
narrator carefully exploring his conscious in a philosophical manner, whereas child narrator s naïve
attitude is portrayed in his black and white perception of the crisis, believing that he is solely to blame
for the blossoming of the lovers affair, I had attacked them first (Chapter 16. p. 182). Thus, the reader
feels a certain degree of sympathy towards Leo s predicament as he possesses a common child like
sense of misguided responsibility. However, it is evident that he is merely facilitating the relationship
between Ted and Marian. Nevertheless, the writer also presents Leo as somewhat egocentric as he sees

Apple became a well diverse company with the leadership of Jobs they had 15 product lines which
were slashed down to 4 categories desktop and portable Macintoshes, for consumers and
professionals. (Pg3) Not only did they have 15 different products which placed them in several
different industries but they tried to depict themselves as Worlds greenest lineup of notebooks that was
energy efficient and used recyclable materials (Pg 4)
Rivalry
The rivalry in this industry is high with the four top Pc vendors Hewlett Packard, Dell, Lenovo, and
Acer accounted for 53.6 percent of worldwide shipments. (Pg 5) Even though it was Apple who
founded the first personal computer it was IBM that brought them into the conventional lives of
society. Within this time period there were a lot of mergers and acquisitions making rivalry amongst
firms even greater as every time this occurred these merged companies would have more market share
and more capital to help their business.
Threat of substitutes
A lot of these products were similar in many ways and allowed consumers to do pretty much the same
things. For example a Laptop had a camera as did an iPad as well as a Ultra book, an iPhone and an
iPod. All of these products could also go on the internet and have programs like Microsoft office.
Competitors also had the same attributes so I would say threat of substitutes is high.
Threat of new entrants

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Abortion By Rabbi David Novak
To begin it is important to understand halakha which is the jewish law that governs the status of an
unborn fetus and whether or not abortion can occur. First off I will be discussing Rabbi David Novak
from University of Toronto s, short paper titled Abortion , in this article Rabbi David Novak takes a
neutral stance and states that there are two sides to the argument of abortion in Judaism. Rabbi David
Novak starts by stating that the most common belief in modern Judaism is as follows , On one side are
those who see the fetus as a human within a human (Sanhedrin 57b, re Genesis 9:6). On the other side
are those who regard the child as a human person only after it emerges from the womb (Rashi on
Sanhedrin 72b, re Ohalot 7.6); before that, it is simply a part of the mother s body. (Novak). ... Show

Traditionally, Jewish belief is considered to be a pro life stance, which is not to argue that a Jew must
actively support the pro life movement just that it is the basis of their core belief system. The problem
with Judaism identifying with pro choice though is that the pro choice movement is for the most part
based on Human ownership of the human body, an idea that directly contradicts the Jewish dogma that
everything belongs to God men s bodies, women s bodies, anyone s body (Ezekiel 18:4). (Novak).
Another issue with abortion in Judaism is that it gives significant legal and moral room to the mother
and those around her, allowing justification for abortion on a case by case basis as well as the fact that
rabbis have never regulated abortion within the Jewish population. In the Talmud it is said that that
only physically present infants are considered to be legal persons but there are only specific cases
where abortion or killing of the child is considered to be

As An Upper Level High School Mathematics Teacher, My...
As an upper level high school mathematics teacher, my students are assigned to classes based on skill
level rather than grade level, but the due to the nature of the material, most students are juniors and
seniors. Tasha, the student constantly demanding my attention to ask if she is doing the work correctly,
is almost certainly one of these upperclassmen as the rare underclassman who is in an advanced math
class generally has more confidence in her abilities if only because placement in such a class implies
that the school believes that she is highly capable. While not offensive or intentionally disruptive,
Tasha s behavior does impact the classroom environment negatively. Every minute that she demands
my attention is a minute that I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, I am forced to spend more time refocusing students and dealing with inappropriate
behavior which cuts down on the amount of instructional time in my classroom. While Tasha s
motivation for monopolizing my time is almost certainly not to deprive other students of having their
questions answered or to keep me from maintaining order in the classroom, these are the inevitable
consequences of her behavior if it continues. By allowing her to continue this pattern, I am also doing
her no favors as she is not learning to be a self directed learner or taking ownership of her own
learning and work if I am constantly at her beck and call to confirm that she is doing just fine. Tasha s
behavior appears to be rooted in a lack of confidence in her own abilities, and she is exhibiting some
signs of learned helplessness. It is unlikely that any particular incident in my class caused Tasha to be
so insecure as low self confidence and learned helplessness develop over time, but certain situations in
class are more likely to trigger her need for confirmation that she is doing her work correctly. She is
most likely to demand my attention when I have shifted the class into individual work time as opposed
to group instruction or discussion. Tasha s insecurities become more pronounced when she is left to
work on an assignment without step by step guidance from me. If she sees other students getting to

Introduction
In all cultures and across all times, anxiety and fear have been significant factors in the lives of

1. Introduction
China had made great improvement in deregulation and had complied with its obligations to follow

intellectual property rules into the multilateral trading system. It ensures that computer programs will

They are treated differently because they use different types of creations. According to WTO

China ranked second for software piracy after Vietnam in 2000 report from Business Software

Life Is Fine By Langston Hughes
I think the poem Life is Fine is a lyric poem. The poem Life is Fine is about someone who went down
to a river to think. But he can t think so he jumps in the river. And he starts to sink. Then he takes the
elevator up 16 floors and thinks about his baby. So he thinks about jumping. But he will be dogged if
they see him if they see him die. So in this poem I think he is telling us that everybody has problems
including Hughes. But in this poem he shows us that we should still push through and get through it.
In this poem Langston Hughes uses symbolism and imagery. Langston Hughes uses symbolism in this
quote I went down to the river, I set down on the bank. I tried to think but couldn t, So I jumped in and
sank. . I feel that he might be saying that the river is life. And he might feel that he Langston Hughes
is sinking in life. By putting symbolism in his poem it disguises what he really means or says what he
feels like it looks like. I think Langston Hughes uses imagery in the quote But it was...cold in that
water! It was cold! . I feel lik he uses imagery in that quote because he puts the image in our minds of
cold water or someone touching the water and the water is cold. By him using imagery it makes us ...

Many blockbuster trade rumors are being speculated the past few months. Rumors that include
superstar and marquee players on a well known team. Although most of them didn t happen but still

On recent trade rumors, one veteran big man is likely going to leave his first home. Brook Lopez is an
eight year veteran player who was the 10th overall pick by the New Jersey Nets (now Brooklyn Nets)
in the 2008 NBA draft. He has a twin brother Robin Lopez who was just recently traded to the New

Chicago Bulls which we ve already tackled. Second with the Milwaukee Bucks. Trade scenario is

And lastly with the Boston Celtics. The Celtics must give up future draft picks, Terry Rozier or James

Fear In The Things They Carried
Throughout the mid 1960s to the 70s, the United States was at war with Vietnam. War is a conflict
between other nations or different groups inside a country. War can affect families tremendously by
letting go of a son and mother or father s relationship. It takes courage and bravery to help defend
your nation and to sacrifice your own life for others. I haven t been in a war but if I had to I wouldn t.
If entering a war you could lose everything you had before entering a war. After the war you will have
nothing left, you will lose your friends, family members, and no one will talk to you about the
struggles in the war because they do not have any experience with it. As a result of violence in wars
lead soldiers having PTSD, depression, and guilt. In The Things They Carried the soldiers felt
obligated to enter the war because they were fearful of violence, ashamed for not being brave, guilty,

Dorothy Day Pacifism Analysis
Essay 2 Being Catholic comes with some important ideological stances about an individuals value to
society and the Catholic church and communities surrounding the church have developed a strong
stance on the importance of humanity. Dorothy Day took the ideologies of Catholic social teaching
and combined them with her long standing history of social justice work and created an environment
that fostered community and equality for people who were suffering under the economic strains of the
30s and other societal injustices, such as racism. During her time she was able to set up a newspaper
that preached catholic social teaching in an easy and accessible manor for thousands of people, along

asking we stop engaging with other countries in trade and instead live at home this concept is tied to
the Catholic social teaching that unjust economies creates injustice (Evangelii Gaudium). The idea is
that with trade amongst other countries benefitting the upper classes and not creating jobs or other
opportunities for impoverished populations the injustice pervades and creates a space for more
inequality. Day in Pacifism is asking for the country to focus on it s own people in an attempt to

I would first like to begin this paper by saying why I decide to chose this topic out of the 3 choices. I
believe that all of the choices were credible and a viable topic in their own regards, but the reason this
one hit home for me was because of the simplicity of the scandal. It s hard to believe that someone
could have made off with the amount of money Bernard did when the idea of a Ponzi scheme was
notable as early as the 19th century, and was named after Charles Ponzi in 1920 after his scandal
created enough issues to make it more aware to the public of what was happening. The fact that this
happened almost 100 years later at the level that it did and where it happened made me extremely
concerned and interested in the topic. In this paper I will cover the details happening up to the scandal,
the scandal itself, the people involved in the scandal, the legislation and regulations implemented after
the scandal, and my views on the outcome of the scandal.
Bernard Madoff was born April 29th, 1928 in Queens, New York. He grew up as a son of two Jewish
parents, one of which was a stockbroker. He graduated from Hofstra University in 1960 with a degree
in Political Science and then moved on to attend Brooklyn Law School where he dropped out to start
and pursue his own company, Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC.
The firm was started with an initial fund of $5,000, which was earned by Bernard working as a

The American Society Moves Forward Into The Contemporary Era
As the American society moves forward into the contemporary era, advertising grew from small
telecast into an argument and suggestion. It is utilized as a form of communication in order to
encourage, persuade, or manipulate a broad audience ( What is the Purpose ). A prominent example
could include advertisements on Television for universities and institutes such as University of
Phoenix and Grand Canyon University. These advertisements, explicitly targeting students, are
attempting to promote the idea of the American dream in the society, which is the notion of every U.S.
citizen having an equal opportunity to achieve wealth, success, and happiness through hard work and
perseverance by attending these particular schools. A majority of Americans perceive a college
education as the ticket to the American dream ( Student Loan Debt ). The interpretations portrayed
,from these college advertisements, grants the observer a window into American beliefs about the idea
of the American dream in society and the false perceptions of it. A primary example can be seen in
Mantsios s Class in America 2009 article, where he talks about a common misconception that the
United States is a fundamentally classless society (Mantsios 624). The advertisements claim that the
American dream is obtainable by attending these particular schools and getting an education because
every person has an equal opportunity, however, that is not the reality of it. The notion of the
American dream is a myth

Unlike our predecessors, the society is now affected by a manifold of dynamics which affect the ways
of life and the living standards of people. The change of society has created the need for citizens to be
more reliant on the politics of their country, the social conditions of the country, as well as the
economic prosperity that may affect where they live. In this report, the living standards of citizens in
different countries will be analyzed and shown. From observing the several countries in the world, an
analysis will be made to discover what makes the living standards of one country higher than another.
Several organizations are already performing this type of research, such as UNICEF; an organization
which would rather promote happiness and wellness of citizens in a country rather than only
considering the economical factors provided. Instead of solely judging a country by its GDP, or
essentially its numerical productivity, there is numerical data for happiness, otherwise known as the
Gross National Happiness1. This was created by the King of Bhutan, the leader of a communist
country, and the GHP was measured by the social, economic, and political conditions within the
country1. Used by major organizations now across the world including UNICEF, I also agree that a
country should not only be measured by the economical standards as it is not the only

Spirituality is derived from the Latin word spiritus, spirit, the essential part of the person which
controls the mind and the mind controls the body. Thus the spirit is the vital life force which motivate
people and influence ones life, health behavior and relationships (Baldacchino Draper, 2001). She also
stated that spirituality is the mainstream of life which unifies all aspects of the human being.
Spirituality applies to both believers and non believers, including the presence of diverse cultural
beliefs (Baldacchino Draper, 2001). Culliford stated that : In times of emotional stress, physical
illness, loss, bereavement and death human beings tend to find comfort, peace, inspiration, reverence
and meaning by focusing on their spirituality whether they believe in God or not (Culliford, 2002). In
a study conducted by Tuck and Thingajana the meaning of spirituality was voiced by person living
with HIV disease and healthy adults. The definitions voiced by the HIV patients were that Spirituality
is relating and believing in God, who is always present. It is perceived as being guided or helped or
being inspired or giving unto. Spirituality includes the process of journeying, discovering and
centering and is outwardly expressed (Tuck Thinganjana, 2007). The definitions of Spirituality
expressed by the healthy individuals were that: Spirituality is a strongly held belief and a

Reaction Paper On Exorcism
Exorcisms are rituals performed on those speculated to be possessed by an evil spirit. The exorcists
who do the act of removing demons are typically Catholic priests. An exorcism is the process of
driving out demons, associated with primitive Roman Catholic beliefs. Though the idea of exorcisms
are mainly related to Roman Catholics, there is documentation of Jesus Christ performing an exorcism
in the Holy Bible. This is a much older concept that is not widely believed the way it was in earlier
society.
Possession occurs when a person, place, or thing is taken over by a demon; which is when exorcisms
become necessary. Baptismal and simple exorcisms are preformed to avert possession, while a real
exorcism takes place after possession. The theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is recognizing the presence of the demon. The second is pretense, the demon does its best to
act as if they are the person they are possessing. The exorcist tries their best to discover the demon s
name, which gives the exorcist control over the demon. The breakpoint is when the demon reveals
their identity, they will speak in their own voice. During the step that is referred to as the clash, the
exorcist and demon battle each other to win over the being of the possessed. If the exorcist is
successful throughout the first four steps, then the fifth is expulsion. At this point, the demon has
either departed or was killed. Each of these five steps have to be done correctly in order for the demon
to be driven out.
The success of an exorcism is dependent upon the exorcist. Your typical priest most likely isn t trained
to perform an exorcism. However, each Catholic church needs at least one exorcist. IAEO, the
International Association of Exorcists, was established in 1992. Pauline Fr. Gabriele Amorth is
supposedly the founder of this organization that originated in Rome. There are over five hundred
members in the IAEO, even though exorcisms today are extremely rare. An exorcist must be
exceedingly educated on exorcisms and dedicated to warding off evil

How Madagascar s Major Environmental Problems Affected...
A geographer explores how Madagascar s major environmental problems impact the wildlife
development in Madagascar
Abstract
This essay discusses how five different environmental problems that occur in Madagascar disturb the
plants and animals living in the country. Environmental problems include deforestation, agricultural
fires, erosion, overexploitation of living resources, and invasions of alien species. Unfortunately, as
result of the environmental problems, native species are losing their homes and are struggling to
survive. Fortunately, there are organizations where conservationists are working hard to help save the
animals from extinction.
When people think about Madagascar, images of beautiful, lush green rainforest, warm, sandy beaches
along crystal clear water and exotic animals come to mind. Madagascar is a large island that is located
in the Indian Ocean, just off the southeastern coast of Africa. According to Africa Diversity and
Development, the population in 2009 was nineteen point five million people, many of which living on
less than two dollars a day (Binns, 2011). This landmass is home to an extraordinary variety of
animals including Flat Tailed Geckos, Comet Moths, Panther Chameleons and Tomato Frogs. Many of
the animals found in Madagascar cannot be found anywhere else on this planet. Unfortunately,
environmental problems are negatively impacting the wildlife. Conservationist are forced to work

How Does the Development of Core Competencies Provide Both...
How does the development of core competencies provide both advantages and disadvantages for an
organisation? What steps can managers take to prevent core competencies becoming core rigidities? In
today s world competition among firms becomes globalized and more intense. In order to become
superiorly competitive, companies should enhance its competencies in a way that will allow them to
achieve dominant position in a market. One way of accomplishing it is by development of core
competencies. Competencies are considered core if they are skillfully performed and are principal to
company s strategy and its competiveness (Thompson et al, 2013). They are result of collective

For instance, mentioned by some participants in the discussion, Nokia lost its leadership in production
of mobile phones as they were unable to adapt to the new era of phones pioneered by Iphone. There
has been general consensus throughout the discussion that applying dynamic capabilities approach can
prevent core competencies becoming core rigidities. The idea of dynamic capabilities lies in a
necessity of a company to create, extend and modify its resource base, whether it would be minor
continuous improvements; creation of new resources or combination of existing ones in new ways; or
a complete renewing of the resource base, depending on how dynamic the environment is, in order to
sustain competitive advantage and address external changes. What is important here is the managers
perception of the environmental dynamism that providesthe basis for their ability to identify the need
for changes and extend those changes when necessary. According to Amrosini et al (2009), managers
who fail to identify correctly the environmental dynamism may react not accordingly to the actual
environment and, thus, apply insufficient changes (risk of strategic shift), prefer predictability of

Norsemen Family Circle Analysis
During basketball season my senior year of high school, we did an activity called the Norsemen
Family Circle. In this exercise one person sat in the middle of a circle, surrounded by the whole team.
Each person went around in the circle and gave the person in the middle a compliment, or something
to make them feel better. My coach picked me to be the first person in the circle, and I was not used to
getting the compliments that I got from the underclassmen. Multiple times I got told that I was a great

The Most Effective Form of Media Essay
The Most Effective Form of Media There are many different types of media. The media is things like:
televisions, newspapers, magazines, radio, internet, cinema, phones and many more. Media is
important because it influences people to buy products. They are very affective and appeal to many
people. Adverts are things that show certain products and try to get you to buy them. The purpose of
adverts is to make you buy the products being advertised so they can make a profit. Companies spend

companies so their channel can keep afloat. Sky and cable completely rely on television adverts
because they need it for the funding. The advantages of advertising on the television is you can have
sound, movement, special affects and it is visual. The disadvantages of advertising on the television is
that the programme you are watching is split up, people usually go for a snack when they come on and
the small print can be difficult to read. I have analysed a television advert and I have chosen, L Oréal ,
the shampoo and conditioner. The target audience for this is probably women that like to look after
their hair. The time the advert appeared was between nine and ten at night, on ITV. It was on between
Footballers Wives, and this was a good time to put it on as the target audience may have been
watching the television at this time. The reason I have chosen this product is because it has a lot of
hidden persuaders, and persuasive techniques. Persuasive techniques and hidden persuaders used are
the use of statistics, when it says that there was, 95% less brakeage of hair . There is also the use of
science when it shows a strand of hair, and it says, It has Nutri Cerimide R , which sounds impressive

Climate Change, Oil Spills, Coastal Erosion, And...
1.0 INTRODUCTION In recent years, the United States has been taking the initiative in the Arctic to
fix pollution on the earth and prevent future pollution in the environment. This initiative has four
pillars: climate change, oil spills, coastal erosion, and alternative energy which are all topics affecting
the arctic region of the United States and the world. It is crucial that today s society pays close
attention to the problems arising from these issues causing our environment to suffer; one being the
effect that oil spills are having on the arctic region. An oil spill is defined as a presence of somewhat
large amounts or layers of crude or refined oil on soil or in sea water (What Is Oil Spill? Definition
and Meaning). These spills can spread and affect the ecology, economy, and people of the arctic
region. With over 17,000 drilling platforms in the ocean, and more proposed for the future, the risk of
an oil spill from drilling sites or accidents when transporting oil is greatly increasing (Fuller, 2010). To
prevent future generations from a more polluted environment, research and studies have been done on
oil spills, how they are caused, their effects on the ecosystem, and better ways to contain and prevent
them in the future. 2.0 DESCRIPTION OF PILLAR AND ITS PROBLEMS The term oil spill already
eludes to the fact that they are issues for the environment, but there are specific problems that can
arise from spills specifically in arctic regions. Research on oil spills

Analysis Of Martin Luther s The Worricker
What is heroism? Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman among many others are the people who we
idolize and perceive as heroes from an early age. Perhaps we do this because they have incredible
powers we wish we had as kids and as adults. Or maybe because they often save lives and in extreme
cases, the world. If that is the case, why do we not consider and idolize real people such as Mahatma
Gandhi, Martin Luther King J.R, or Bertrand Russell who through civil disobedience showed true
heroism? They too had incredible powers and saved lives, so why not consider them heroes and
idolize them? Gandhi, King, and Russell showed the world that one doesn t need laser vision to

Romans 8:18 tells how we don t merely seek an end because it ends our suffering, but rather we seek
the end because of the glory that will come after it. For this reason, we look toward being with Christ
in the midst of suffering and after it.
Philippians 1:21 reminds us that we are not our own because if we are to live on earth even in
suffering we do so to the glory of Christ and being with his spirit and if we die it is only to the glory of
being with him in heaven.
2 Corinthians 1:3 4 shows us how God is our comfort in the midst of suffering so that we can comfort
others.
Romans 5:3 4 points out how suffering only grows us closer to Christ through a transformation of
character and realization of the fact that our hope is in him no matter the circumstance.

Virgina Woolf and Feminism Essay
Virginia Woolf is often categorized as being an aesthetic writer. Most of her works played largely on
the concept of suggestion. They addressed many social issues especially those regarding feminine
problems. Woolf was acutely aware of her identity as a woman and she used many of writings as
outlets for her frustrations. According to her doctrine, the subjugation of women is a central fact of
history, a key to most of our social and psychological disorders (Marder 3). The two works I will focus
on is A Room of One s Own and A Society from Monday or Tuesday. They are both works that
challenge the roles of men and women.
In A Room of One s Own the narrator begins an exploration of women in literature. She attempts to

The narrator creates a scene with the Professor writing at his desk. She describes his expression as
being angry and emotional and uses several scenarios to explain why he is so angry. First she
describes him as being ugly. Then she suggests that maybe his wife is being unfaithful. I think the
narrator uses these examples because they are all frivolous. She is suggesting that the Professor s
anger is centered on a distrust and resentment towards women. In her opinion, these men are so
blinded by their anger that they cannot think logically.
After leaving the library the narrator goes out for lunch. While glancing at a newspaper she notices the
different headlines. All the articles about men seem to be glorifying their achievements, while the ones
about women were controversial. Woolf writes: The most transient visitor to this planet, I thought,
who picked up this paper could not fail to be aware, even from this scattered testimony, that England
is under the rule of a patriarchy (1624). I think the narrator says this to emphasize the power and
influence of man.
At this point the narrator is using the Professor to represent man. She points the many important roles
he plays such as Foreign Secretary, race horse owner, and CEO. However, despite having money and
power he is still angry. The narrator then suggests that these men lack self confidence. It is known that
people who are lacking in

Essay on Symbolism in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
Symbolism in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman Arthur Miller s play, Death of a Salesman is
wrought with symbolism from the opening scene. Many symbols illustrate the themes of success and
failure. They include the apartment buildings, the rubber hose, Willy s brother Ben, the tape recorder,
and the seeds for the garden. These symbols represent Willy s attempts to be successful and his
impending failure. When Willy and Linda purchased their home in Brooklyn, it seemed far removed

His wife Linda, who finds the hose, knows what he was going to do with it, as does Biff. When
confronted by Biff, Willy not only denies that he was going to use the hose, but also denies ever

his family as a failure who cannot even commit suicide or tell the truth. Willy s brother Ben seems to
symbolize all of Willy s dreams that have not borne fruit. Ben provides an example of the type of
success that Willy desires. Ben went into the jungle with nothing and became extremely wealthy. Ben
achieved in a few years what Willy has dreamed about his entire life. Ben also provides additional
evidence on the foolish behavior and poor decisions made by Willy. Ben offers to take Willy with him
and make him rich an offer that Willy declines. Another important symbol is Howard s tape recorder.
It represents the many material objects wealthy businessmen could provide for their families and for
themselves. Willy wanted this lifestyle; he wanted something he could lay his hands on (Miller pg. ).
It would not be enough to just be successful; Willy wanted to be able to show people material
representations of his success. The tape recorder shows that Howard has reached this level of success.
Yet while the recorder symbolizes the wealth and power of Howard, it also represents Willy s
discouragement and

Then Nancy has a discussion with Fagin and later overhears a conversation between him and Monks

The Standard American Diet Plan Essay
Introduction The Standard American Diet (SAD) is a growing concern due to its negative effect on
Americans weight status. In The Okinawa Diet Plan: Get Leaner, Live Longer, and Never Feel Hungry
Again, the Okinawa diet is suggested to be a large contributor to the low rates of obesity among
centenarians living in Okinawa, Japan. In overweight adults, how does following the diet principles of
the elderly people of Okinawa, Japan affect weight loss compared to following the Standard American
Diet? Principles of The Okinawa Diet Plan Consuming low calorie dense (CD) foods is the basis of
the Okinawa diet. Research supports the authors claim that by eating foods low in CD, energy intake
is lowered, thus promoting weight loss. Water rich foods are closely related to the CD principle, and
its potential to decrease body weight is also supported by research. Whole grains, which are proposed
to be lower in CD than refined grains, are said to aid in weight loss. This principle is positively
supported by research. Information on the Glycemic Index (GI) is contradicted in different parts of the
book. Although research supports the GI and weight loss, certain factors should be taken into account.
Conclusion The Okinawa diet has the potential to be a sustainable weight loss diet. Further research
on certain principles need to be conducted. Introduction The Western diet commonly consumed in the

I probably would have suffered in hospice care for weeks or even months. And my family would have
had to watch that (Maynard). Maynard believes that her family won t be able to see her in a
deteriorating condition therefore decided to opt out of that. Families can t see their loved one in pain
everyday of every hour. I did not want this nightmare scenario for my family, so I started researching
death with dignity .......I quickly decided that death with dignity was the best option for me and my
family (Maynard). Maynard felt that undergoing a treatment for getting rid of the tumor would be
more painful for her and her family. No one can give Brittany and her family a hundred percent
guarantee that tumor would actually go away forever. Doctors confirmed that if Brittany goes under
treatment, she will be the same person she was before treatment meaning that treatment will have side
effects that might affect her for her entire life. The lethal drug used for euthanasia patients is more cost
efficient for people. Soumya Karlamangla, author of Will California s end of life push lethal drugs
over costlier care? explains that drugs that keep one alive are too expensive to afford and have no
guarantee of being helpful while the injection or pills to end life are free of cost (Karlamangla). The
questions of saving money and doctor s guarantee that the incurable disease will go away with
treatment comes into play during making this important choice. Why would one pay more money for a
drug that has no guarantee of saving their life and getting their hopes up when there is a big possibility
that nothing will happen. While the lethal drug also known as the euthanasia drug is much less
expensive and will do its job with certainty. Therefore if one is debating what route to choose when

Presbyterian Church in America
About this Denomination: The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) was started in December 1973
and their origin can be traced to John Calvin. The theological distinction of PCA is conservative
reformed and the ecclesiology is Presbyterian. This church was first known as the National
Presbyterian Church but changed its name in 1974 to Presbyterian Church in America. The PCA
became a separate denomination from the Presbyterian Church in the United States (PCUSA) due to
the opposition of long developing theological liberalism which denied the deity of Jesus Christ and the
inerrancy and authority of Scripture. The Evangelical Synod and the Reformed Presbyterian Church
joined the PCA in 1982. The belief system of the PCA is based on ... Show more content on

The vast amount of windows illuminated the inside of the sanctuary which is aligned with plenty of
wooden pews for around 800 people. The art displayed is inside the stained glass windows/panels.
One of the windows was inspired by Revelation 4:7. There is a rather large stage for live music and
worship and a stunning wooden cross on display hanging above the altar. There is another building
located across from the sanctuary with adequate classrooms for all age groups. The children s
playground is massive and filled with fun outdoor activities. The congregation started in 1975 and
there is over 500 multiracial members. I attended the Sunday 10:00 am service, but prior to service
IPC offers an Education Hour that focus on a variety of topics to help you engage in Scripture and
look for life applications in a more intimate setting. All worship services are spoken in English. After
the service, the IPC offers coffee, tea, and donuts to its members so they can enjoy fellowship time on
the patio. The bulletin includes weekly interactive ministries such as: music and the arts, Wednesday
night refuel, spiritual mentoring, men s, women s, youth, young adults, and seniors. I had the
opportunity to briefly speak with Lead Pastor Scott Bullock who informed me that the PCA is one of
the faster growing denominations in Orange County. He also specified that all members of IPC are
entitled to vote on the electing of their congregation officers, but neither women

Gatt And Its Eventual Development
Founded in 1995, the World Trade Organization (WTO) formally known as the General Agreement on
Tariffs and Trade (GATT) would officially commence in the late 20th century with more than 123
nations taking part. The intergovernmental organization, which was established to regulate
international trade, replaced GATT as of April 15th, 1994 following the signing of the Marrakesh
Agreement by more than 120 global nations, and was officially legitimized more than 20 years ago on
January 1st 1995 following GATTS s unsuccessful attempt in creating an International Trade
Organization in 1948 (WTO, 2016). It is of vital importance to understand the history of GATT and its
eventual development into what is known today as the World Trade ... Show more content on

It must be noted that GATT is not an organization, but rather an agreement among multilateral nations
eager to take part in global trade. GATT strived to remove the many boundaries and tariffs that
restricted nationals from trading. The smaller number of tariffs there were, the more trade would
occur; the more trade taking place between nations, the stronger a country would be. Though
originally intended to serve as a subsidy of the United Nations in 1947 during the UN Conference on
Trade and Employment in Havana, Cuba and as the primary regulator of multi national trade, the ITO
failed final support and approval particularly from the US Government. In 1950, the United States
Government Announced that it would not seek Congressional ratification of the Havana Charter, and
the ITO was effectively dead (WTO, 2016). This left GATT the sole multilateral institution to govern
world trade for half a century.
The General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade was negotiated and signed by 23 nations at the Palais
Des Nation in Geneva on October 30, 1947. GATT would officially legitimize on January 1st of 1948
and its founding members contracting parties included: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Burma, Canada,
Ceylon, Chile, China, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, France, India, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New
Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Southern

Symbolism In The Beauty Queen Of Leenane
The Beauty Queen of Leenane, a deep, twisted play by Martin McDonagh, is a symbolic work of art.
The symbols within this play, powerful as they may be, do not jump out at the reader. They are instead
embedded into the simplest objects and the relationship of the main characters. Martin McDonagh
portrays his symbols with such an ironic eloquence; the dark, powerful symbols are inextricably
linked in such a beautiful way, that once the reader makes the connections, the entire aura of the play
changes. From symbols as simple as hot oil and a rocking chair to the mother daughter relationship of
Mag and Maureen, the reader learns more and more about Ireland during its time of troubles. Right off
the bat, the reader is aware that Mag and Maureen s relationship is not a traditional mother daughter
relationship. Any and all forms of love seem to be absent, there is no common ground, and abuse is
evident. It is within this abuse that the first symbol is found hot oil. The stage directions state,
Maureen slowly and deliberately takes her mother s shriveled hand, holds it down on the burning
range, and starts slowly pouring some of the hot oil over it, as Mag screams in pain and terror
(McDonagh 43). The literal use of the symbol of hot oil is highly substantial in identifying the kind of
relationship Mag and Maureen possess, but the symbolic significance behind the hot oil bears a
greater significance. In this play, hot oil is symbolic of the intense, burning tension between mother

How I Fell In Love With A Fish Summary
In his video, How I Fell in Love with a Fish, Dan Barber explains what he found when he travelled to
Spain to get an intimate understanding of exactly why this fish farm is still in business and what it is
that makes their fish taste so good.
Dan explains that the majority of what his trip to the fish farm taught him revolved around
relationships. He learned that in order to become a prosperous business the farm first had to establish a
thriving network of relationships between all of its inhabitants.
One of the boldest statements made in the video pertains to the fact that this fish farm does not feed
any of its fish at all there is no secret fish food formula or anything of the like. Unlike other farms that

Who Is Justinian Recreate The Byzantine Empire
The Byzantine Empire, or the eastern Roman Empire, was formed in the year 330 after Roman
Emperor Constantine I moved the seat of the Roman government to the city of Constantinople. It was
designated a second Rome, and had the advantage of being located on an Asian Eurpoean trade route
and on the Bosporus Strait, which made it incredibly hard to sack or besiege, since water surrounded
half of the city. Constantinople was also free from any corruption and political assassination, which
made governing easier to do and to manage as well. When the western Roman Empire collapsed in the
year 476, the eastern half remained intact, and it remained relatively stable until Emperor Justinian
came to power. Emperor Justinian was Emperor of the Byzantine Empire in the mid sixth century,
from 527 to 565, and headed his empire s notable renovatio imperii, or restoration of the Empire
during that time. Justinian devoted his reign to reclaim the lost western half of the Roman Empire, and
recreate it through military conquest and social reform. The military conquest was to expand the
Byzantine Empire so it reached the farthest extent of the Roman Empire, which was around the early
second century, while the social reform was to recreate the Roman law that once applied during the
height of the Roman Empire. So, these questions must be posed: How did Emperor Justinian attempt
to reform and recreate the Roman Empire, and what did he do to restore it? Were his legislative and
social reforms

Importance Of Identity In Things Fall Apart
Finding Your Identity Having an identity and more importantly finding your identity is very important
when it comes to finding and achieving your purpose in life. It is very difficult to find your purpose
when you don t have a clear self identity. Merriam Webster dictionary defines identity in this context
as the distinguishing character or personality of an individual , and that perfectly represents what
Nwoye experiences in the novel Things Fall Apart when the European missionaries come to Nigeria
and start teaching the Ibo villagers about Jesus Christ and Christianity. Nwoye experiences a change in
his religious identity because the missionaries words really get through to him, and he really
understands what they are trying to teach. Identity is mentioned multiple times in Cosmopolitanism as
Kwame Anthony Appiah puts an emphasis on finding your identity and having a specific identity to be
able to help other people when they need it. Nwoye always thought that his purpose in life was to
follow the faith of his fellow villagers, but once he heard the teachings of the Christian missionaries
he realized his real purpose, and his religious identity, was to spread the word of Jesus Christ. Things
Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is a book set in a small Nigerian village, an Ibo village, and centers
around the life of Okonkwo as he goes through life in the village, from when he was a boy to his
eventual death. Okonkwo is very hot headed and he gets into trouble because of his

Infamous Jim Crow Laws
My fourth resource is an article listing many of the infamous Jim Crow laws that suppressed many
African Americans in the southern united states, until they were abolished in 1965. The purpose of this
article is to show just how absurd and disgraceful these laws actually were. This fits well in my essay,
because it shows multiple examples of how Jim Crow laws were racist, and can be used as a good
basis for the case of referencing past racist events that have a conclusion. Jim Crow laws are good for
referencing when making sure new racist laws are not allowed to be passed into law, but shouldn t be
used as a reason to say racism exists in today s world.

Comparing The American Dream In The Great Gatsby And Black...
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Black Boy by Richard Wright both show the theme of the
American Dream throughout the books. The American dream is the possibility of making a good life
for yourself, the idea of rags to riches was the most popular concept of getting a better life. The
American dream can both be found in the concepts of character decisions and conflict.
The American Dream of getting rich was a goal that every immigrant had coming to the United States,
but it was hard to find a way to obtain that amount of money. Gatsby tried to get rich from the start of
his life. Gatsby s dad showed Nick Gatsby s plan to get rich in his childhood This is a book he had

to me that his absence would mean that there would be no food (Wright 15). His father left his family

struggled even more trying to survive. This drove the idea into Richard that money was a key

Selfie Research Paper
But First, Let Me Take a Selfie A lot of people from the average citizen to Barack Obama, the
President of the United States, take selfies. A selfie is basically a picture of yourself, a self portrait that
is usually shared on any social networking site. By just switching to front camera with just a tap,
anyone is able to take a selfie. It is a popular trend and is a part of our modern day culture that a lot of
us engage without a second thought, as if it is as much as who we are or as the clothes that we wear.
Selfies seems to have made its way into the social norms. Young children and teens take them
obsessively, adults seems to join in on the fun, and celebrities make the trend even more popular. What

Selfies has even been taken outside of Earth, since even astronauts are taking selfies in space. The
selfie isn t the newest thing, it has been around since photography and self portraits started. But in the
past few years, it has been become increasingly popular, because of the rising of smartphones and
other social media sites. Since celebrities and other famous or popular people take selfies, it seems
rather difficult for most people not to join in on the selfie train. A lot of people are so obsessed on
what celebrities are doing, as if they are their idol. It s like if a celebrity does this, the majority of
people will try to copy her. Many people view celebrities as one of their biggest role models.
Celebrities can have a huge influence on society. Most of the time, they are the ones who starts or
even makes the trend more popular, typically because of their social status or class with society. Let s
say that Beyoncé, an R B singer, takes a selfie in a unique pose and post it on Instagram or Twitter. All
of her fans that adore her are going to see it and like it, expressing that it s beautiful and a cool way to
take a selfie. Since the fans love Beyoncé, most of them are going to attempt to copy the way she
takes the selfie. This indicates that most of the people in the society that we live in follow what most
celebrities does, whether it s good or bad. Celebrities seems to be one of the key

  • 2. Understanding And Importance Of Following Orders The purpose of this counselled essay is to explain my understanding and importance of following orders. This essay will have several sections to explain different areas where following orders effects. . I will cover the significance of following orders within the unit, prominence of following order within the artillery world, results of failure to follow orders, and how following orders will help me in the future. The importance of these procedures created by my superiors are apparent in a soldier s daily life. Following Orders within the Unit To start this essay off I want to begin with the oath I took at the beginning of my career. Considering this oath would be a revolving point in my paper I need to have it as a basis. I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. To follow orders within the unit promotes morale, Esprit de corps, the completion of tasks and details that promote the benefit of the unit as a whole, and transition of communication in the unit. When orders are not being followed, it creates a doubt within the mind of not only the Noncommissioned Officer, but the other core leaders of the soldier. The soldier himself or ... So when the Roswell incident accured there was a massive rush down south to figure out exactly what happened and where this Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) came from. When this event got public the local townspeople got out that the entire thing was from another planet entirely. After the government stated that the material was from a weather balloon, some people thought it was a cover up for what it actually was. I d like to make three brief points on why I think the Roswell incident and this discovery of UFOs is fake. First off, I d like to say how people originally thought of the UFOs as Extra Terrestrial beings. Although I guess people looked over the fact that the material that the UFO contained a human made material. The people of Roswell turned this into a big story with a major assumption that the material came from space, but I don t think they have much evidence for that. With this I d like to say that I believe that the Roswell incident was fake and completely over exaggerated and how people thought it was cool to go out and pretend to see UFOs was kind of dumb. Basically it has become a null point for powerful companies to work towards consolidation since they have natural business advantages already fixed in place. In the Go Between, Hartley presents the world of children and childhood through the first person narrative (from the viewpoints of the young and old Leo), Leo s vivid imagination, the themes of growing up and self awareness, the conflict between the child and adult world, and the portrayal of Leo as a school boy. Firstly, the writer portrays the world of children through the first person narrative which encapsulates young Leo s fresh, spontaneous optimism and hope towards the dawning of a new era, My dreams for the twentieth century, and for myself, were coming true (Chapter 1. p. 28). Therefore, this device allows the reader direct access to the intensity yet simplicity of a child s point of view and enhances Leo s personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... p. 82). Therefore, the adult narrator s ability to comment and reflect on his child self effectively emphasizes the naïve and vulnerable nature of youth, and contributes to the mood of foreboding and suspense throughout the novel, now I was over confident. I expected things to go my way (Chapter 1. p. 28). In addition, the two voices in the narrative illustrate the contrasting perceptions of childhood and maturity as we can see that the younger Leo simply believes if he went away...the relationship between Ted and Marian would cease (Chapter 16. p. 182), whereas the elder Leo is able to analyse his feelings, I thought I knew what was best for myself...I was shaken and frightened (Chapter 16. p. 183). Consequently, the first person narrative in the past tense effectively conveys a sense of the adult narrator carefully exploring his conscious in a philosophical manner, whereas child narrator s naïve attitude is portrayed in his black and white perception of the crisis, believing that he is solely to blame for the blossoming of the lovers affair, I had attacked them first (Chapter 16. p. 182). Thus, the reader feels a certain degree of sympathy towards Leo s predicament as he possesses a common child like sense of misguided responsibility. However, it is evident that he is merely facilitating the relationship between Ted and Marian. Nevertheless, the writer also presents Leo as somewhat egocentric as he sees ... A Rhetorical Analysis Of Abortion By Rabbi David Novak To begin it is important to understand halakha which is the jewish law that governs the status of an unborn fetus and whether or not abortion can occur. First off I will be discussing Rabbi David Novak from University of Toronto s, short paper titled Abortion , in this article Rabbi David Novak takes a neutral stance and states that there are two sides to the argument of abortion in Judaism. Rabbi David Novak starts by stating that the most common belief in modern Judaism is as follows , On one side are those who see the fetus as a human within a human (Sanhedrin 57b, re Genesis 9:6). On the other side are those who regard the child as a human person only after it emerges from the womb (Rashi on Sanhedrin 72b, re Ohalot 7.6); before that, it is simply a part of the mother s body. Traditionally, Jewish belief is considered to be a pro life stance, which is not to argue that a Jew must actively support the pro life movement just that it is the basis of their core belief system. The problem with Judaism identifying with pro choice though is that the pro choice movement is for the most part based on Human ownership of the human body, an idea that directly contradicts the Jewish dogma that everything belongs to God men s bodies, women s bodies, anyone s body (Ezekiel 18:4). (Novak). Another issue with abortion in Judaism is that it gives significant legal and moral room to the mother and those around her, allowing justification for abortion on a case by case basis as well as the fact that rabbis have never regulated abortion within the Jewish population. In the Talmud it is said that that only physically present infants are considered to be legal persons but there are only specific cases where abortion or killing of the child is considered to be ... By allowing her to continue this pattern, I am also doing her no favors as she is not learning to be a self directed learner or taking ownership of her own learning and work if I am constantly at her beck and call to confirm that she is doing just fine. Tasha s behavior appears to be rooted in a lack of confidence in her own abilities, and she is exhibiting some signs of learned helplessness. I believe that all of the choices were credible and a viable topic in their own regards, but the reason this one hit home for me was because of the simplicity of the scandal. It s hard to believe that someone could have made off with the amount of money Bernard did when the idea of a Ponzi scheme was notable as early as the 19th century, and was named after Charles Ponzi in 1920 after his scandal created enough issues to make it more aware to the public of what was happening. The fact that this happened almost 100 years later at the level that it did and where it happened made me extremely concerned and interested in the topic. In this paper I will cover the details happening up to the scandal, the scandal itself, the people involved in the scandal, the legislation and regulations implemented after the scandal, and my views on the outcome of the scandal. • 22. The American Society Moves Forward Into The Contemporary Era As the American society moves forward into the contemporary era, advertising grew from small telecast into an argument and suggestion. It is utilized as a form of communication in order to encourage, persuade, or manipulate a broad audience ( What is the Purpose ). A prominent example could include advertisements on Television for universities and institutes such as University of Phoenix and Grand Canyon University. These advertisements, explicitly targeting students, are attempting to promote the idea of the American dream in the society, which is the notion of every U.S. citizen having an equal opportunity to achieve wealth, success, and happiness through hard work and perseverance by attending these particular schools. A majority of Americans perceive a college education as the ticket to the American dream ( Student Loan Debt ). The interpretations portrayed ,from these college advertisements, grants the observer a window into American beliefs about the idea of the American dream in society and the false perceptions of it. A primary example can be seen in Mantsios s Class in America 2009 article, where he talks about a common misconception that the United States is a fundamentally classless society (Mantsios 624). The advertisements claim that the American dream is obtainable by attending these particular schools and getting an education because every person has an equal opportunity, however, that is not the reality of it. Unlike our predecessors, the society is now affected by a manifold of dynamics which affect the ways of life and the living standards of people. The change of society has created the need for citizens to be more reliant on the politics of their country, the social conditions of the country, as well as the economic prosperity that may affect where they live. In this report, the living standards of citizens in different countries will be analyzed and shown. From observing the several countries in the world, an analysis will be made to discover what makes the living standards of one country higher than another. Several organizations are already performing this type of research, such as UNICEF; an organization which would rather promote happiness and wellness of citizens in a country rather than only considering the economical factors provided. Instead of solely judging a country by its GDP, or essentially its numerical productivity, there is numerical data for happiness, otherwise known as the Gross National Happiness1. This was created by the King of Bhutan, the leader of a communist country, and the GHP was measured by the social, economic, and political conditions within the country1. She also stated that spirituality is the mainstream of life which unifies all aspects of the human being. Spirituality applies to both believers and non believers, including the presence of diverse cultural beliefs (Baldacchino Draper, 2001). The exorcists who do the act of removing demons are typically Catholic priests. An exorcism is the process of driving out demons, associated with primitive Roman Catholic beliefs. Though the idea of exorcisms are mainly related to Roman Catholics, there is documentation of Jesus Christ performing an exorcism in the Holy Bible. This is a much older concept that is not widely believed the way it was in earlier society. The first is recognizing the presence of the demon. The second is pretense, the demon does its best to act as if they are the person they are possessing. The exorcist tries their best to discover the demon s name, which gives the exorcist control over the demon. The breakpoint is when the demon reveals their identity, they will speak in their own voice. During the step that is referred to as the clash, the exorcist and demon battle each other to win over the being of the possessed. If the exorcist is successful throughout the first four steps, then the fifth is expulsion. At this point, the demon has either departed or was killed. Each of these five steps have to be done correctly in order for the demon to be driven out. The success of an exorcism is dependent upon the exorcist. Your typical priest most likely isn t trained to perform an exorcism. However, each Catholic church needs at least one exorcist. IAEO, the International Association of Exorcists, was established in 1992. Pauline Fr. Gabriele Amorth is supposedly the founder of this organization that originated in Rome. A geographer explores how Madagascar s major environmental problems impact the wildlife development in Madagascar Abstract This essay discusses how five different environmental problems that occur in Madagascar disturb the plants and animals living in the country. This initiative has four pillars: climate change, oil spills, coastal erosion, and alternative energy which are all topics affecting the arctic region of the United States and the world. It is crucial that today s society pays close attention to the problems arising from these issues causing our environment to suffer; one being the effect that oil spills are having on the arctic region. An oil spill is defined as a presence of somewhat large amounts or layers of crude or refined oil on soil or in sea water (What Is Oil Spill? Definition and Meaning). These spills can spread and affect the ecology, economy, and people of the arctic region. Willy s brother Ben seems to symbolize all of Willy s dreams that have not borne fruit. Ben provides an example of the type of success that Willy desires. Ben went into the jungle with nothing and became extremely wealthy. Ben achieved in a few years what Willy has dreamed about his entire life. Ben also provides additional evidence on the foolish behavior and poor decisions made by Willy. Ben offers to take Willy with him and make him rich an offer that Willy declines. Another important symbol is Howard s tape recorder. It represents the many material objects wealthy businessmen could provide for their families and for themselves. Willy wanted this lifestyle; he wanted something he could lay his hands on (Miller pg. ). The Evangelical Synod and the Reformed Presbyterian Church joined the PCA in 1982. The belief system of the PCA is based on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The vast amount of windows illuminated the inside of the sanctuary which is aligned with plenty of wooden pews for around 800 people. The art displayed is inside the stained glass windows/panels. One of the windows was inspired by Revelation 4:7. There is a rather large stage for live music and worship and a stunning wooden cross on display hanging above the altar. There is another building located across from the sanctuary with adequate classrooms for all age groups. The children s playground is massive and filled with fun outdoor activities. • 40. Gatt And Its Eventual Development Founded in 1995, the World Trade Organization (WTO) formally known as the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) would officially commence in the late 20th century with more than 123 nations taking part. The intergovernmental organization, which was established to regulate international trade, replaced GATT as of April 15th, 1994 following the signing of the Marrakesh Agreement by more than 120 global nations, and was officially legitimized more than 20 years ago on January 1st 1995 following GATTS s unsuccessful attempt in creating an International Trade Organization in 1948 (WTO, 2016). It is of vital importance to understand the history of GATT and its eventual development into what is known today as the World Trade ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It must be noted that GATT is not an organization, but rather an agreement among multilateral nations eager to take part in global trade. GATT strived to remove the many boundaries and tariffs that restricted nationals from trading. The smaller number of tariffs there were, the more trade would occur; the more trade taking place between nations, the stronger a country would be. Though originally intended to serve as a subsidy of the United Nations in 1947 during the UN Conference on Trade and Employment in Havana, Cuba and as the primary regulator of multi national trade, the ITO failed final support and approval particularly from the US Government. In 1950, the United States Government Announced that it would not seek Congressional ratification of the Havana Charter, and the ITO was effectively dead (WTO, 2016). This left GATT the sole multilateral institution to govern world trade for half a century. The General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade was negotiated and signed by 23 nations at the Palais Des Nation in Geneva on October 30, 1947. GATT would officially legitimize on January 1st of 1948 and its founding members contracting parties included: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Burma, Canada, Ceylon, Chile, China, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, France, India, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Southern ... • 41. Symbolism In The Beauty Queen Of Leenane The Beauty Queen of Leenane, a deep, twisted play by Martin McDonagh, is a symbolic work of art. The symbols within this play, powerful as they may be, do not jump out at the reader. They are instead embedded into the simplest objects and the relationship of the main characters. Martin McDonagh portrays his symbols with such an ironic eloquence; the dark, powerful symbols are inextricably linked in such a beautiful way, that once the reader makes the connections, the entire aura of the play changes. From symbols as simple as hot oil and a rocking chair to the mother daughter relationship of Mag and Maureen, the reader learns more and more about Ireland during its time of troubles. Right off the bat, the reader is aware that Mag and Maureen s relationship is not a traditional mother daughter relationship. Any and all forms of love seem to be absent, there is no common ground, and abuse is evident. It is within this abuse that the first symbol is found hot oil. The stage directions state, Maureen slowly and deliberately takes her mother s shriveled hand, holds it down on the burning range, and starts slowly pouring some of the hot oil over it, as Mag screams in pain and terror (McDonagh 43). The literal use of the symbol of hot oil is highly substantial in identifying the kind of relationship Mag and Maureen possess, but the symbolic significance behind the hot oil bears a greater significance. In this play, hot oil is symbolic of the intense, burning tension between mother ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Who Is Justinian Recreate The Byzantine Empire The Byzantine Empire, or the eastern Roman Empire, was formed in the year 330 after Roman Emperor Constantine I moved the seat of the Roman government to the city of Constantinople. It was designated a second Rome, and had the advantage of being located on an Asian Eurpoean trade route and on the Bosporus Strait, which made it incredibly hard to sack or besiege, since water surrounded half of the city. Constantinople was also free from any corruption and political assassination, which made governing easier to do and to manage as well. When the western Roman Empire collapsed in the year 476, the eastern half remained intact, and it remained relatively stable until Emperor Justinian came to power. Emperor Justinian was Emperor of the Byzantine Empire in the mid sixth century, from 527 to 565, and headed his empire s notable renovatio imperii, or restoration of the Empire during that time. Justinian devoted his reign to reclaim the lost western half of the Roman Empire, and recreate it through military conquest and social reform. The military conquest was to expand the Byzantine Empire so it reached the farthest extent of the Roman Empire, which was around the early second century, while the social reform was to recreate the Roman law that once applied during the height of the Roman Empire. So, these questions must be posed: How did Emperor Justinian attempt to reform and recreate the Roman Empire, and what did he do to restore it? Were his legislative and social reforms ... • 46. Importance Of Identity In Things Fall Apart Finding Your Identity Having an identity and more importantly finding your identity is very important when it comes to finding and achieving your purpose in life. It is very difficult to find your purpose when you don t have a clear self identity. Merriam Webster dictionary defines identity in this context as the distinguishing character or personality of an individual , and that perfectly represents what Nwoye experiences in the novel Things Fall Apart when the European missionaries come to Nigeria and start teaching the Ibo villagers about Jesus Christ and Christianity. Nwoye experiences a change in his religious identity because the missionaries words really get through to him, and he really understands what they are trying to teach. Identity is mentioned multiple times in Cosmopolitanism as Kwame Anthony Appiah puts an emphasis on finding your identity and having a specific identity to be able to help other people when they need it. Nwoye always thought that his purpose in life was to follow the faith of his fellow villagers, but once he heard the teachings of the Christian missionaries he realized his real purpose, and his religious identity, was to spread the word of Jesus Christ. Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is a book set in a small Nigerian village, an Ibo village, and centers around the life of Okonkwo as he goes through life in the village, from when he was a boy to his eventual death. The purpose of this article is to show just how absurd and disgraceful these laws actually were. This fits well in my essay, because it shows multiple examples of how Jim Crow laws were racist, and can be used as a good basis for the case of referencing past racist events that have a conclusion. Jim Crow laws are good for referencing when making sure new racist laws are not allowed to be passed into law, but shouldn t be used as a reason to say racism exists in today s world.
